Came in to get a Togo order to take to the pool and didn't realize we were going to grab food so I was in a swimsuit and cover up I totally get it was super short but the waitress was literally the rudest person I've ever delay with she talked a boy me to the entire place even pointed and talked crap! Seriously what a rude person! Who does that! Seriously?!? No tip obv! I still cannot believe what an awful person they have employed

I wish I lived closer - I dream about this place! Spanakopita, pita bread, breakfast, Greek, casual American - everything is to die for. Very friendly service willing to go above and beyond ALWAYS!

Zorba's is a pretty solid breakfast/brunch spot for those in the neighborhood. It's nice and quiet before 8 if you happen to be up and needing breakfast. It's sort of a classic diner feel with a ridiculously huge menu that spans Greek, American, and Mexican. I like a basic breakfast, and here it's cheap, fast, and tasty. I haven't been except in the morning, and really prefer a more upscale brunch experience, but this is great for something quick and simple.

Everything I have had here has been yummy and the service is pretty great. It's cool that this place is owned by an actual Greek family and they order some of the ingredients from Greece! The only complaints: Breakfasts are a little heavy on the hash browns. And I do wish that the gyro had more vegetables on it besides just onions and tomatoes. But even so the lamb is very well flavored, moist, and delicious, so I still keep ordering it. Yum! On the whole, definitely worth checking out.

Stopped in here after I helped a friend move into her new place. The staff was friendly, the outdoor seating was lovely! I got the greek gyro salad - that thing was gigantic! Enough meat for 3 gyros and 2 meals! My friend got the mousaka and that was huge as well. Definitely a lovely spot, walkable from her place and delicious food! I'll be back!

came in late, just before close. we didn't have to ask buy they offered to make us our dinner Togo because they had stopped seating. falafel was super tasty, had a nice crunch to it. will definitely be back again.

Came in on a chilly Coloradan winter's night with a friend. We'd already eaten dinner though wished for a "warm up" that was warming. Friendly staff and owners directed us to the "bar" - just a few seats diner-style at this all-day breakfast, ginourmous menu, East-Coast style Greek Diner. We felt immediately welcome by the friendly staff and owners of this Congress Park neighborhood stalwart. The menu is pages long, with everything from traditional Greek lamb dishes and gyros flat-bread sandwiches to french fries and pancakes. Electing to have some soup to take the chill off, my friend enjoyed a Southwestern style Green Chili stew. A nice piquant tang and spicy bite to it, dipped with side tortilla. Very Coloradan winter snack! Myself, I went with the more traditional Greek lemon-chicken soup. Usually it is served with orzo, though they used American rice rather than Greek. Didn't matter, it was lovely, light and heavy at the same time. The lemon flavour was not very acidic, and one could even have a nice glass of red, peppery Greek wine without ruining the palette. Both soups were warming, but most hearty are the owners. The owner Shellie was helpful in guiding us along the vast menu (Mexican food, too!), and pointing to the house-made baklava and other pastries baked daily. Hearth, home, Zorbas. It's all Greek to me!

So before we ended up here my friends and I went to a breakfast place around 11:30 am that is a small chain here in Denver that rhymes "Booze" which is insanely loud, a bit pricey for inconsistent food and ALWAYS has a ridiculous wait time. Despite that is was a Monday our wait time was an estimated 45 minutes. Seriously? Yeah, you know the one. Being that we were hungry my friend suggested Zorba's...Holy cow what a difference. At Zorba's we were greeted by friendly staff and immediately seated on the sunny patio. Our food was delivered in a timely fashion and cooked to perfection. My friends who stated they are a bit of snobs when it comes to omelets and both said that theirs were quite good. My enormous skillet breakfast dish for under $8 was large enough to easily feed me two times over. The front patio was quite and relaxing and staff were great. This place is for sure your standard dinner with no frills, just good food fast. There are both street parking and lot in the back and no stairs to navigate should that be an issue for your guests. The menu selection is HUGE and accommodates almost any liking for breakfast, lunch or dinner. What a great new gem to find. Do it.

This restaurant is within walking distance of my job. Fellow employees have been raving about it so I decided the time had come for me to make the trek. I wanted carry out so it was a little confusing for a newbie as the counter/register isn't readily visible when you first walk in. Thinking a salad sounded good, I ordered the Greek salad with falafel. The falafel was my favorite part of the salad aside from the grilled pita. Next time I will order the falafel pita sandwich. The salad was a little watery, literally water floating in the bottom of the container. It got my feta cheese soggy and diluted which was a bummer. I will go back but will order a sandwich next time!

The Eggs Benedict arrived with over cooked eggs....almost hard boiled. We didn't say anything until we were leaving and brought it to the attention of the owner. She wasn't concerned at all and even made it our fault. Her comment was "we always poach them hard, next time order them poached soft". There won't be a next time!

This place has good Greek food. The Baklava was too sugary, like it had been sitting a few days and we had a few delays in service but we were the only ones out on the patio. Overall the Lamb Chops were juicy and reasonably priced and the salads are really good. Definitely a place to visit if you are nearby visiting the Botanical gardens or Cheesman Park for lunch or dinner!

One of the better Greek places I've found in Denver. And take out orders are always ready within minutes - I eat here at least once a week!

Great little neighborhood diner. I give it 4 stars for not trying to be something it isn't, for excellent service, for the neighborhood feel, for the ability to just take a seat, and for the Greek salad (called the Athenian), which is the best in Denver.

This restaurant is listed on Find Me Gluten Free, and states it has bread substitutions and GF offerings. Would give zero stars if I could. NOT gluten friendly by any stretch of the imagination. Our waitress was down right hostile. I made her aware of my gluten issues, and she responded that the owner has celiac and EVERYTHING is cross contaminated. When I told her I had found the restaurant Find Me Gluten Free, it went over her head. I asked what the GF options were, and she responded with "well, what are you thinking?" I listed the menu items that I thought might be safe, and her only response was "No". Apparently, according to her they even roll their falafel in bread crumbs before frying it. The other people with me ordered while I scoured the menu for something to eat. When she came back, I asked about the salads. I don't like oil and vinegar, and asked if the ranch was GF. She said "it's a powdered mix, so probably not." I asked about the Greek chicken on special, apparently that is rolled in bread crumbs too. I finally asked if there was anything that was actually GF. She got REALLY snotty then and said "Let's go over the ENTIRE menu for you then" She waved around at the breakfast stuff (which according to the menu isn't served past 10 am) and basically said I could have lettuce, olives, tomatoes, vinegar dressing and cottage cheese or a sandwich without bread or fries. My husband finally lost it and told her we would pay for his side salad but we were leaving. When we stood up, the waitress said the kitchen had already started our meals. We told her to cancel them and she said "fine" and stormed off. We waited for a few minutes for the check for the side salad, but didn't see her again so we left. She then chased us OUT THE DOOR with the check, demanding that we pay it. My husband argued with her and she threatened to get the owner. My husband said he would LOVE to talk to the owner and she went back inside. We waited another 10 minutes, no owner. We left. I understand it's harder for mom n' pop businesses to offer gluten free, but if you SAY you offer it, have something other than salad and cottage cheese or breadless sandwiches to offer.

Village Greek no lettuce. I eat this salad all the time. This one was kinda boring. Everything was in a lineup form. Tomatoes, cucumbers, black olives and red onion slices on the top. The dressing was not memorable. Even the tsadiki was not tasty. My friend however had a Greek omelette with potatoes and I thought it was really fluffy and good. The toast was the best part of the meal.

EAT HERE! Met a client across the street at an amazing little coffee shop. I was hungry though, so before we even ordered coffee I asked her if she'd like lunch instead. This was the closest place. We weren't greeted with a smile, but that's OK. Her thick accent assured me she was actually from Greece, and a Greeks are known to wear their emotions on their sleeve. If they're having a bad day, you probably know it. Our waitress did, however. and so did everyone else we came in contact with. But we didn't come for smiles. We came to eat. I ordered the gyro plate, and it was freaking amazing. My new client (hopefully!) ordered a spinach omelet with feta and gave me half. Yes, she ordered breakfast at lunch! It was equally awesome. Upon leaving I chatted with the owner who had this place for 50 years(!) and still using the same exact cash register she started with. It looks exactly like the Wells Fargo corporate office in downtown Denver. In fact it was probably designed after this exact register. Eat here.

Chef Zorba's has been given good reviews by fellow co-workers, who rave about their salads. This was enough for me to give them a try. Turns out, they are located about 8 minutes east of us, so that's a plus. Interior - yellows, blues, greens, very nice, comfortable, warm, and relaxing. The tables are close together, so it can get a bit loud. There is a dividing wall between the two sections of dining areas, each with booths and tables. Breakfast - breakfast is good. I had my usual bacon and eggs. These were good, nothing outstanding, just good. Lunch - Their Greek salad is VERY GOOD! Greek salads are not hard to make, but this one really is GOOD! It is HUGE too, so easily split between two people. Dinner - we had their stuffed cabbage. I grew up with stuffed cabbage, my mother made the best stuffed cabbage, so I know what is good. I've had stuffed cabbage at other restaurants, some good, some bad. The stuffed cabbage at Chef Zorba's was VERY GOOD! My husband was pleasantly surprised too! We split this between us, and it was more than enough for each of us. My husband also had the chicken lemon rice soup. I tried it, and tried some more. Oh My GOSH!!!! WOW!!! You MUST try their Chicken Lemon Rice soup, but know they only have it on Sundays and Thursdays. I'll go back just for this soup! Service - very good. Interior - comfy, warm, relaxing. Parking - street, so you may have to walk a block or two, at least it is free. So, you will tróne kalá (eat well) at Chef Zorba's!

Zorbas has been around for years and has always been a great meal. Try the Unusual at least once for breakfast and you can't go wrong with the gyro sandwich for lunch or dinner. The staff is friendly and the cooks in the back are on top of it!

This place is LEGIT! The "Spread of Greece" is awesome, as is the "Hungry Man Breakfast". The pancakes are huge and the service was great. If you're looking for real Mediterranean, this is the place you need to visit.

I love me some Greek! Somehow at least one of the weekend mornings the BF and I are in the mood for a breakfast feast. We are willing to drive for food, and recently we've found that we don't need to drive that far for some good old breakfast food. Chef Zorba's has some authentic Greek items on the menu mixed in with the breakfast classics. The choices are endless for breakfast, and most will be under $10. Service is diner style and even has a tinge of attitude and sass. My eggs have always been cooked as requested, my toast buttered, and my bacon crispy. The pancakes taste like they're from a box, but that's a small miss for a quick in and out breakfast joint. For the nice weather they offer a pretty large patio for dining outdoors and basking in the sun. We have always been able to park on the street right out front with ease. Chef Zorba's offers a little bit for everyone and they can execute orders accurately and quickly. I'm very happy to have a choice so close to home.

We have been going to Zorba's since 1999 and it is a great breakfast and diner standby. Affordable, very friendly service, and perfect for breakfast (at any time of day) and lunch. We don't do Greek, perhaps we should, but we stick to the American and breakfast fare. Have never been anything but pleased. The restaurant was remodeled in the mid-2000's and is comfy with booth, counter, or table options. In the spring and summer the patio is fantastic as it is on the north side of the building under great shade trees. It is fun to have Sunday brunch and say hello to all of our neighbors as they stop by for breakfast or on their way to Ace Hardware next door or Daz Bog coffee down the street. This is a classic neighborhood place that is there for good and affordable eats. Come in shorts, jeans or a suit and you will feel right at home.

Good neighborhood breakfast location. The portions were huge for the price and service was quick and friendly. My only complaint is that their hash browns were a bit too overcooked, and were burned in some spots. Otherwise I like this place for a quick weekend breakfast while avoiding the crazy crowds at the more well known places.

  • Steve B.

I like this place for breakfast or dinner. It's kind of like a diner but with a Greek twist on the menu. The have all the standard breakfast items too -- try the French toast it's awesome here. They do have a few good vegetarian items that I enjoy like the veggie pita sandwich and the breakfast burrito (be sure to ask for salsa instead of the green Chile though as their green Chile is made with pork). There's not a ton of vegetarian items on the menu though but when I've asked about items on the menu and if they can make a veggie version, they've always been very accommodating so be sure to ask if you see something you like. One thing I particularly like here is that is usually really fast.... parking is free and easy, the service is fast and prices are very reasonable. So if you're looking for a Sunday morning breakfast that isn't going to take 3 hours, this is your place.

This is a no nonsense neighborhood Greek diner that doesn't pretend to be anything else. The food is good, fast and the nice folks who work there will take great care of you in a friendly and efficient manner.

I'm surprised this place doesn't have a higher rating. I don't normally go to places with only 3.5 stars. Luckily I found Zorba's on my own and not through Yelp. My first time there I had the lamb - I LOVE lamb chops and theirs were cooked to perfection. I was pleasantly surprised! My only complaint were the peas. The could definitely find something better to compliment a lamb chops dish. The servers are attentive and very friendly, the atmosphere is pretty quiet. I believe you can eat on the patio when the weather permits, which is great because of the neighborhood it's in. There's not much else to be said about this place -- they serve very good food!

  • Alex D.

They have good grub all the way around, the service is fast and friendly but it's the french toast that owns my heart. Still the best I've eaten. Nothing fancy, just simply freaking delicious enough to eat with every meal. And then some.

I *really* wanted to like Chef Zorba's. It's so close to my house! It has great hours! A patio! Greek food!!! But, sadly, no. The waitstaff was incredibly friendly and attentive (is there such a thing as TOO friendly and attentive?), the space is lovely (photos of Greece! patio!), and the menu is, as all the reviews probably say, extensive (Breakfast! Mexican! Greek! Country-fried steak with gravy?!?). Perhaps my expectations were too high. Or perhaps I was just having a bad day. But the food was simply not that good. Not inedible, not Casa Bonita-esque. Just, not good. Odd colored hummus that looked overly processed. Greek salad smothered in way too much dressing. Falafel that looked more like a McDonald's chicken nugget. Dolmathes (stuffed grape leaves, aka one of my favorite Greek things!) potentially from a can. My brother's sad, sad chicken plate that was mostly fries and pita. Sigh. I was looking forward to baklava at the end, but after spending $40 on things that, quite frankly, were pretty terrible, I thought it best to claim our check and hightail it out of there. Chef Zorba, you have let me down immensely. However, I'll be back. Because I now know that Chef Z serves breakfast. And really, you can't screw up breakfast. (I hope?)

Looking for a place to grab a bite to eat before heading into Denver Botanic Gardens for the Chihuly exhibit. We love Greek so this was an easy choice. We were not disappointed. Generous portions, very reasonable prices. Feta Cheese Dip & Saganaki appetizers were great, as were our entrees, the Souvlaki Plate, and Spanokopita Plate. No room left for the baklava, but I'm sure it was great too. I've noticed service complaints, but ours was perfect. We were there in the early dinner hour, though, so that may contributed. Not in the city very often, but I'm sure we'll find some excuse to come back to Zorba's!

  • John D.

I had the chicken souvlaki sandwich for lunch. It's delicious. The fries aren't bad, but they're definitely under-seasoned. My friend had the gyro sandwich, which he liked a lot as well. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. All told, definitely a place I'd recommend to others, especially for the price.

Decided to give Zorba's a try. I thought a Greek place should make a great Gyro sandwich. Gyro came out hot, with plenty of meat and tomatoes(I ordered w/o onions), and plenty of Tzaziki sauce on the side. Also served with a huge pile of standard diner French fries. Overall a decent Gyros. My only complaint would be the fact that they dropped the check off about 2 bites into my meal and never asked me how everything was. I mean...NOT ONCE. What kind of restaurant has this type of customer service, or lack thereof. I mean...really? Not even when I went up to pay my bill did the 2 employes ask me how my meal was. Obviously I'm not a regular but don't treat me like damn stranger. 1st and last time here.

Chef Zorba's is everything a Greek diner should be. It is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu is extensive and includes Greek specialties, traditional American fare, and even several Mexican dishes. The dining room is large and utilitarian and outdoor seating is also available at several tables in front of the restaurant. We have been patrons of Zorba's for years and over that time nothing has changed. The food is always first-rate, the service efficient and friendly, and the prices very moderate. On a recent visit for lunch my wife had a Greek salad and I had a triple-decker BLT. The salad was very fresh, cold, and well made with romaine lettuce, feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, and olives topped with a Greek vinaigrette dressing. My sandwich, which was also fresh and well made, was filled with very flavorful bacon along with tomato slices and crisp lettuce on toasted bread. Accompanying the sandwich were extremely tasty French fries that were hot, crisp on the outside, and tender on the inside. On this visit we ate outside and immensely enjoyed a delicious and leisurely meal as well as the beautiful Denver weather.

My fave breakfast in Denver. No fuss, fast and always delicious. The ambience is awesome - it's like you've stepped back into time. You can tell everyone there is a regular and that the staff has been working there for a very long time. The pancakes are surprisingly delicious - very simple, fluffy and flavorful. My hubby always orders the gyro breakfast which is a big pita with scrambled eggs, feta, gyro meet and tzaziki sauce...served with crispy home fries (it's huge and SO good). The service is extremely fast and there is never a wait - which is awesome considering some of the other brunch spots in Denver which can take two hours! And it's cheap - so I'm a fan!

When you come to Zorbas on a Sat AM, you'll get a nice greasy breakfast and a patio that is really great that's full of people with really bad bed head. I want to make a photo book called America Diner's best bed-heads. That's right - I want to travel to the world to diners and photograph people with bed head. I like watching people with dogs come by. There is usually a good bit of doggie drama where one dog will bark at another and everyone will feel kind of uncomfortable as suddenly they become a live studio audience as the dog owners confront each other. Except I love that kind of shit. I had the Village Unusual yesterday, and I enjoyed it very much.

Enjoyed a delicious Greek brunch with the family at this chic diner this afternoon. Huge selection of fresh dishes to choose from, and everything is very inexpensive. Service was quick and very friendly. We ordered a bunch of traditional pita selections, salads, drinks and a falafel and our bill for four (2 kids) was under $50 before tip. And speaking of tips, the waitstaff was very helpful in assisting us with directions to local nearby Colorado 'green-grocer' (see my previous review!). Can't wait to visit Zobra's again soon.

Is it poor form to shovel hummus straight into my mouth with a big spoon? This is a question I ponder whenever I eat at Zorba's. I assure you that you'll wonder the same thing if you order their hummus plate and I promise I won't judge your if I happen to see you licking the plate. Along with their hummus, I've never been anything but exceptionally pleased with the gyro plate. I love BLAMB, as I like to call it, and their homemade tzatsiki sauce is delicious. Zorba's has your back or, uh, your stomach when it comes to breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. I was a little surprised to see that even on a weekday, this Congress Park Greek diner pulls in a pretty big crowd for the earlier meals. With cheap entrees, I suppose it shouldn't be all that shocking. Expect regular neighborhood diner type service and you won't be disgruntled when you have several different people attending to your needs.

Simple. Cheap breakfast. I am so glad that this and shells are in the neighborhood!!!!

  • Toasty R.

I've been looking for a local spot for Greek, but sadly, this won't be it. It was some of the most Americanized, bland Greek food that I've had. Tried the hummus--flavorless, dry pita--the falafel was decent, the meatball soup decent. The gyro was okay, and fries a strange side dish. Overall, I'll keep looking for authentic greek flavors.

  • David C.

Some might not know about this place, since it's not really on a main street, but it's a good little neighborhood restaurant. They mostly do Greek food but have some Mexican and American as well. You can get breakfast all day long, which is awesome, because my favorite things so far have been on that side of the menu. They've got pita sandwiches and full entrees too, but I enjoy the first meal the most here. The Unusual Skillet is my top choice, and I prefer it with the gyros because they're better than the souvlaki. Plus, when else can you eat lamb for breakfast? Their hash browns are excellent, and better than the fries. The entrees give you a lot of food for the money, and I also enjoyed the spanakopita quite a bit when I tried it. Prices are very reasonable across the board and the staff are friendly, so when you want a good Greek place, make your way over here.

You know, once upon a time this place was great. Then it was sold and ever since the quality has gone down. My wife and I went there on 11/15/2013, and all we ordered was some cheese burgers and fries. Needless to say the burgers were crispier then the fries. I'm not sure where these so-called "cooks" learned their craft, but medium rare doesn't mean hockey pucked... I'm sorry but every so often we'll go there just to see if there's been any improvement to the quality of what's prepared, and we always leave swearing we'll never go back... Maybe we'll keep our promise...

I'm on a quest to find some damn good Greek food in Denver, so I figured I'd give this place a try. I'd describe this place as a Greek/Mexican diner of sorts (you've been forewarned). Anyway, the food was ok, although a tad bit overpriced for what it is. I'm not generally a fan of restaurants that try to focus on several different types of cuisines so take my review with a grain of salt. However, I'm of the opinion that If you want people to come for the Greek food, then focus on serving some amazing Greek food!

  • Adam J.

This place is right around the corner from my house, which always kind of skews reviews. For example, I might not drive all the way across Denver to eat here. But since it's right there, I've eaten here a lot, and I really like it. For what it's worth, my step dad says this place has the best moussaka he's ever had (and he does drive all the way from Conifer to eat here). I think the spanakopita plate is quite good. The gyro meat here is awesome. I've had it a bunch of different ways. It comes with the spanakopita plate. The traditional gyro is tasty (the tzatziki tastes like every other tzatziki I've ever had), and the gyro melt, which is a gyro but in deliciously buttered and grilled and cheesy sandwich form, is one of my favorites when I feel like punishing my digestive system. The baklava is maybe the best I've had. Few plates of baklava go back to the kitchen un-licked. Not everything I've had is particularly good. The hummus is extremely disappointing. It's too thick, doesn't have much taste, and is served with not nearly enough accompaniments (bread, veggies, anything to eat the stuff with). The salads that I've tried have also been pretty uninteresting. I'm fairly sure that the french fries are Safeway brand frozen fries, because they're starchy and not very great. This place is basically a Greek diner. It's seat yourself and there's really no ambiance to speak of. But that's not a knock, that's just information for you, dear reader. Overall, the Greek food seems to be better than the "diner" food here, so if you're willing to forgo the hamburger or chicken sandwich and try something you may not be able to pronounce, I think you'll enjoy your visit here. I'll definitely keep walking over when I'm too lazy to cook.

First time eating here in Renzio's. I wanted to try some of those mediterranean dish that I heard about so tried ordering here. The service is good if not, average. Their meals looks tasty and they seemed affordable. Maybe I expected too much here thinking they tasted great but still they are good.

  • Emilee D.

The food here is okay, but nothing special. The calamari tasted like it was the frozen, store-bought stuff and the Greek salad left something to be desired. My souvlaki entree was tasty, but the fries were soggy, frozen-food-section quality. I had a bite of baklava and thought it was rather ho-hum. The restaurant itself is small with self-seating. The waitress we had was nice, but being asked 3 times if we wanted something other than water to drink was quite annoying.

I have coming here for over 27 years - there has got to be a reason that I keep coming back... oh yah, they are good!! From when father Alex ran it in the old location right next door to the next generation in a bigger and better.location. The folks running the place are friendly and they just put a smile on your face. Their food is solid diner fare - a great neighborhood place. I know I will be coming back for years!

Well. I swear I already reviewed this spot. But it has some how disapeared. So I'll review it again.....Chef Zorba you are close to my heart and you're easy on my wallet. It's hard to not love you. Here are some reasons why... 1. Close to the house 2. Great menu 3. Great Prices 4. Full bar 5. Friendly staff 6. Good food

Kind of torn between this place. I think 4 stars is pretty generous but I did like it. I mean again, it was breakfast food...pretty hard to screw up. I got the Corn beef hash. Came with eggs, hash browns, and toast. A lot to eat at 11:30AM but I was hungry. Really big portions for the price so over all it was a pretty good deal. If I lived in the area I'm sure this would be a semi regular place for me to go to.

This place is a three like I'm a centrist--the highs and lows even out. Highs: nicely decorated, plus a patio. Inexpensive bloody marys and mimosas and good breakfast food. Brought my daughters bottomless diet soda in a carafe. Have those 3/8 in inch cross -sectional french fries that aren't total salt and total crispy grease, but are mostly potato. Lows: processed turkey and tasteless hothouse tomatoes on on a turkey BLT. Greasy looking eggs. Since eating out is about the food first I went downward on the curve. My espousa like the prices and the breakfast food. I like the french fries, alcohol, and bacon. We all liked the decor.

I've become more fond of Zorbas as my time in Congress Park progresses.... it's close to my house, it offers a little bit of everything, and I love their greek food. Their portions are just enormous and the staff works hard, even if the service can be a little slow during busy times. I like it. I will continue to go back.

The gyro was very good. Toasty pita, juicy meat, ripe tomatoes. The yogurt sauce was OK and the hummus was disgusting. Not real hummus at all. It was very chunky and grainy and had zero flavor. Overall it was worth the 60 second walk from my apt to Zorbas and I would do it again :)

The food was mediocre and the service was worse. I had to walk inside from my table on the patio to refill my own drink. The food is not authentic and the menu is very lacking. Can't see myself coming back here....

This a a very low-key Greek diner. I thought the food was decent, the portion sizes huge, and the waitress was very attentive. I would come here again.

I honestly feel that this restaurant deserves more than a 3 1/2 stars. I remember the first time going here, I was about 8 or 9 and this place was the first time I have ever tried a gyro and it was a positive experience. Ever since then my dad and I make trips there as a treat to go get some gyro's. I really like the atmosphere there, it's in a nice, cute neighborhood, the waitresses are nice, and the food is warm and delicious. I haven't tried the breakfast and I think this place got 3 1/2 stars for it's breakfast not being so great, but go try the gyros at Zorba's, the peta bread is soft, the meat is warm, the sauce is not too salty or sour and the vegetables are nice :) So GO TRY THE GYROS NOT THE BREAKFAST!

The comfortable feel of a diner, but they have booze. We went for a lazy Friday afternoon lunch and enjoyed the experience. Service Friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. Just a smidge of sass that you expect in a diner. Food Greek salad was a tasty starter. Perfect size. Gyro was super. A very good deal at $7.25. Crispy (and they stayed crispy) fries. Wine Greek. Nemea. No oak and a decent amount of fruit. A tad thin, but went perfectly with our food. I am looking forward to eating on the patio in clement weather. One negative. The website is out of date. Menu prices and items are not accurate.

Took my dad (pickiest eater alive) to Zorba's for dinner. Bit of a gamble considering he will always find something wrong with where he's eating and taking him to a new place can be basically asking for it. We parked across the street and quickly found a table on the patio. It took a few minutes, but a waitress came to give us water and ask for our drink order. She was pretty friendly and cracked a few jokes while we ordered. I decided on the Pastasiho (or Greek lasagna)! Yummy!! The food was excellent, even my father couldn't complain. We sat and talked, enjoying the scenery, nice weather and few cold beers. Our bill was more than reasonable (my father made sure to note this to me). Couldn't of had a better experience!! I will definitely be back and especially since its next door to my favorite market!!

After several visits to Chef Zorba's for breakfast, I wanted to review this place. The portions are well sized, not overly small like the spendier and overrated neighbor Snooze. The service was adequate and competent, and the atmosphere was cozy without being trendy. But I digress. They offer Mexican, Greek and American items on their menu. I sampled, with a friend, each of these genres and was impressed that all of them were delicious. I tried the chicken fried steak, once with white and once with brown gravy. It was good both times, however each time it was plated entirely differently, not sure why.

Zorba's is your typical greasy spoon breakfast spot. Their service leaves a lot to be desired. Upon entry, even sitting can be confusing as it is 'Seat Yourself' which is fine, but when I went most of the empty tables were dirty. So we sat at a dirty table, and tried to stack the left over cups and mugs in a way that the waitstaff would know that they weren't ours. It worked. The food is fine enough, typical breakfast fare. I always go for the feta and spinach omelet which is great - I just don't care for the hash browns or the toast that comes with, though. My friends had the supreme breakfast burrito, which is enormous and he enjoyed immensely (finished it all), and my other friend had another type of omelet. They also split some french toast which looked great. At the end we waited and waited and waited for our check. Eventually my friend just went over to the waitress, who was doing sidework, to get our check and run our card. Zorba's is definitely not Jelly or Snooze, it is in fact A-OK though.

Good variety of Greek/ American food, and the service was great. Anywhere I can get a meal for two under $20 bucks, and it's good food sign me up!!!!

Consistently delicious Greek diner food. In fact it probably deserves five stars, but it's divey and it's not somewhere I think of when I am looking to dine out or take a friend somewhere...it's the place to trudge to on a Sunday mid-day when you're fighting a hangover and just want something delicious in your mouth. Service is good and I haven't had a bad meal there. It's waaaay too easy to overeat. I highly recommend the gyro, which is always perfect. I also like their burrito and their sandwiches overall. The fries are some of the best diner fries--always crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked inside.

Go in with low expectations. This is a neighborhood place that doesn't pretend to be anything more than a little place to get some decent Greek food. I think I'll classify it here as an upscale dive. The food is quite good. I think that if the service was any better than adequate, it would ruin the experience by outshining the food and atmosphere. The portions are healthy too. However it irks me to no end to pay a $1.50 split charge for an extra plate. Yes, just the plate. They don't split it for you. Yet Zorba's is one of the reasons I live in Congress Park. It's a short walk from home, always has a tabel for me and I always leave feeling like I've had a good, healthy meal. **UPDATE** Someone from Zorba's contacted me to tell me that the $1.50 split charge is to cover the cost of the extra food they give you if you split an entree and that the entree is supposed to be split in the kitchen. This was indeed my experience after I dined there post-Yelp review but had not been on more than one occasion previously.

The menu here is massive, but I go for the Greek food so my food review can only speak to that cuisine.. It's good for sure, but nothing to write home about. The diner atmosphere is nice, and it is a great place for kids. The service is definitely lacking, but the staff that I have encountered are all very nice.

Zorba's has a wide variety of menu options, so it is usually a good place for picky eaters or a larger group. I like their breakfast burrittos, the green chile is pretty good! The burgers are pretty ordinary, probably not the best choice on the menu, but with so many other things to choose from, why did you pick the burger?? When the weather is nice, dining out front in the patio area can be very relaxing and offer good people watching.

Food looked ok overall. Mine wasn't good. Strange Greek stuff which just up the road is executed perfectly at Pete's Greektown Cafe. I had to eat outside cause my guests wanted to. I didn't like these ignorant dog lovers parading dogs though the dining area, granted its a sidewalk but it was like eating in a dog park. Then the smokers, fully sanctioned by the restaurant. Read this: smokefreecolorado.org/da… No smoking within 15 feet of an entryway. The smokers were ignorant.. really?? your going to light up right where everyone else is? I used to smoke and I always waited to leave. You don't just light up right in the dining area.....those days are long over. So browse the link here to Denver Counties Smoke Policy. Its a good read and after I quizzed the manager, she didn't know the law.

On a very cold News Years Eve afternoon my hubby and I decided to venture out for a relaxing, but not too expensive lunch. I always think of Italian or Mexican for my first choice. However, we decided to check out Chef Zorba's based on the decent Yelp reviews it has received. I like virtually everything about Zorba's. It has a diner feel but is a bit cozy/warmer than a regular diner. The menu is extensive - clearly this is a very popular breakfast spot. Lots of options on the menu outside of the traditional Greek fare but I really wanted to try the Gyro sandwich. I feel that a Gyro should be the benchmark for a Greek restaurant - if they can't do that well then everything else must be bad. To my delight the Gyro sandwich was fantastic, absolutely delicious. Served with hot and crispy (yet a bit inconsequential) fries, this sandwich consisted of a warm/soft pita filled with shaved lamb and beef garnished with chunks of tomatoes, cucumbers etc. I was in heaven from the first bite. The service was excellent. "J", our server, was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. She seemed genuinely happy that we were enjoying the food. We asked her about the breakfast specials and she told use that we had to try the breakfast burrito served with what she feels is the best green chili around. She then brought us a small bowl of the green chili to try. Not the best I've every had but darn good. I've been to many restaurants in town that I've given favorable Yelp reviews with the intent of going back - but unfortunately some have remained "one-hit-wonders" for me. In the case of Chef Zorba's, I know I'll return for more great food and a good time.

I've been to Chef Zorba's about a dozen times now, and every time I had the food there is was very good. As a gyros fan I get the gyros pita most of the time, and have to say it is the best in Colorado without a doubt. I always get the Greek veggies as a side item, they remind me of my grandma's - very delicious. However, other items I've had there like the mousaka, spanakopita, dolmas (stuffed grape leaves), and fried calamari were alright but just "alright". This is definately a good place to go when craving a gyros, but I wouldn't go there for other Greek food.

It's freezing outside. I've been grumpy. I decided I needed one of my favorite cold weather comfort food dishes, a hot roast beef and gravy plate. Normally I would have gone to Pete's Kitchen for this, but decided to try Chef Zorba's because it's a block closer to home. For $2 less than Pete's, I had a far superior meal. There was so much thickly sliced roast beef that I actually needed a steak knife. And dare I say it, but those mashed potatoes may have actually been the real deal. It definitely hit the spot. When I saw they had a full bar, my eyes lit up, but the cocktail I enjoyed certainly wasn't worth the $6 price tag. I did however get a slice of chocolate cake to take home anyhow, because nothing solves a grumpy mood like chocolate. I was on my own, so sat at the counter. Two lovely sisters were very nice and provided great service, though it did take both of them to figure out how to make me a Beam and Coke. However, the cooks were speedy and everyone was so nice, I can forgive that. I can't believe I haven't wandered in sooner. My loyalty to Pete's needed questioning, and I'm glad I finally broke out of routine. Plus, I was the youngest guy in there, which this close to my birthday, made me feel good. I'm giving 4 stars for great service, and the best hot roast beef plate I've ever had. This isn't a typical 4 star restaurant however, it's a diner, and a damn good one.

I used to think Zorba's was just ok. Not amazing, but solid americanized greek food. It was good enough that I went back last week with a friend only to get the most useless waitress ever. Even after repeated stares and eye contact with her as she chatted up another staff member, she did not take our order until another waitress came up, asked us if we were ready, and harnessed her back to her job. This happened more than once with other staff members chipping in to get us drinks and extra pita. WHERE was the manager? If I hadn't been in a fairly laid back mood, I might have asked for him/her, but I just didn't want the hassle. I think that was the lowest tip I've ever left... I almost left none, but that would have haunted my conscience. Because it's in a very convenient location for my friends, I'll probably be coerced into giving it another shot in some time, but I'm not rushing it.

Local to where I live and always great food and service;the reason for the 3 stars is that I normally just eat breakfast here. Breakfast has always been great, my favorite is the Veggie Omellete w/ sausage and feta; yummy!!! In addition, the staff is friendly and the service is fast, attentive enough and good all around. I have had a gyro sandwhich from Zorba's and it was good; the deserts are tasty and traditional. I'll post more when I eat lunch or dinner there; I expect the same quality and service as I've had at bfast. Worth a stop in, especially if you're in the area (botanic gardens, cheeseman park, colfax stretch nearby) for leisure or live local. My only issue with Zorba's is the coffee, it's just not that good. It could be my penchant for the coffee shop across the street (d-bog), but I just don't like it. Easy enough though, I just swing by my coffee shop on the way in. Stop in and give it a try!

While the atmosphere is more on par with a diner, the food was a great treat when trying to hunt down tasty Greek food in denver. The portions were quite large, as is the menu, and the service was acceptable. It's worth going back for seconds, but don't expect an "amazing" experience. :)

Disclaimer: This review has a lot to do with nostalgia... Being from the East Coast, I miss small, modest neighborhood restaurants. Often times the larger, all-nite diners gross me out, but Zorba's provides a certain nostalgic charm. First of all, they have a very large menu...one of those, "I have no idea what I am going to get...everything sounds like it could be good" type places. They also serve breakfast all day, which is comforting. As a vegetarian I also feel like they have a decent amount of veggie options, but lately I have been getting the same thing each time: a small Greek salad, grilled cheese and fries. Now unfortunately their fries aren't all that. You can tell they were frozen and they are the type that come out un-salted and are unable to hold salt. But for some reason I don't really care. The grilled cheese comes with orange processed cheese and a large stack of pickles, which makes me happy. Their bloodies are kind of small for $4 but taste good. Zorba's may not have the finest cuisine in Denver but it is a very comforting place to dine. Try it next time you want to have a leisurely weekend brunch/lunch but don't want to wait a million years for a table.

Huge breakfast for a decent price. I had the bacon and cheese omelet as suggested by our server. It was a big omelet with hash browns and tasted pretty good. (No salt needed b/c of the bacon). Sat outside and it was nice. They were short handed and our server asked for us to pay inside--she was real nice about it so it did not bother me. Anyway--good solid food at a good price. Yes the menu is HUGE too. Nice neighborhood to hang out in too.

Could be a 3 star, but 4 stars for the portions at this place. They are crazy big. Went here for breakfast this morning. The place was full. The Zorba's four egg omelet w/ Hash Browns and Toast is only $7. And my girl and I could have split it. Instead we brought it home and slang it to a roommate for $5 hehe. He was pumped. I had the Gyro which was over flowing with meat and super flavorful. The fries are meh. Previously Frozen thick blah. I'll ask for a different side next time. The mimosas are $4 & strong. It smells delicious as soon as you walk in and the homemade Tzatziki sauce is the best I've tried in town. Super friendly servers who are on their game. Everyone was helping each other out. Would definitely stop in here if I was in the area or craving a Delicious Gyro.

Chef Zorba is a misleading restaurant name. Yes, it does have Greek food, which I tried the Gyro but it seems more like a diner. They have breakfast, Mexican, salad, sandwiches, fries, onion rings, etc. But back to what I had. All I had was the Gyro with fries. The meat was juicy, tender and lightly seasoned with a great toasted pita. Why did I give them three stars? The hummus tasted store bought and the tzatziki sauce was just plain pitiful. I will be back though with my own sauces next time.

My husband is a Denver native, and every time we are in town, we go to Zorba's so he can get a gyro. Apparently they just don't make decent gyros where we live. I often get the spanikopita, dolmathes or a veggie omelet, all of which are more than satisfactory.

Things you MUST know about Chef Zorbas Cuisine. 1. Outside patio is nice with about 8 tables (see pictures) 2. Diner food that has greek, american, and mexican. 3. Prices are anywhere from $7-$15 4. Similar to Petes Diner, but not as crowded and a buck or two highter in prices. 5. They don't skimp on the fries. 6. Greek Salad was good with gyro meat. 7. Falafel here is very bad. Was way overcooked and extremely dry. I spit it out. 8. Service is nice and homey. 9. This place closes at 10. It reeks of a 24-7 diner. 10. Great diner with reasonable prices. Go here with a group of friends if your in the mood to try a another diner option in Denver. Wish it stayed open later!!!

Recommended by folks here on Yelp when I was looking for a place to eat after visiting the Denver Botanic Gardens this place definitely hit the spot. Service was fast and friendly, beer was tasty and food was tastier. Tried out the Hellas Greek beer which was a nice crisp kind of lager perfect for the unexpectedly warm 80+ degree day today. My wife and I shared the Greek Appetizer platter which was a nice mix of quintessentially Greek items. Definitely recommended. Also nice was that it was just a 5 minute walk from the Botanic Gardens. Although we don't live near I think we'll be looking for an excuse to return soon.

I should've written this review earlier, as I went here a few weeks ago. My apologies. I came here with my boyfriend and it was great. We had the spread of Greece and it was delicious and monstrous in size - I took most of it home. The menu is huge, huge, huge and we plan to come again for breakfast. I like the outdoor patio and as I live a mere two blocks away, I can tell you since I moved here it hasn't been empty once and is packed on the weekends.

I love this place for the comforting neighborhood diner feel, but most of all because they make a great gyro sandwich. They get there spit, I think, from the famous Kronos company in Chicago and they serve it proper with big oinion chunks and tomatoes on top of a warm, thick and buttery pita-- and standard tzatziki sauce. The fries are fat and plentiful as well. Another favorite is the Greek omelet which comes, of course, with gyro slices. Actually, generally anything with slices of gyro I like. They also have pretty decent Greek food from what I have sampled, which is surprising from a breakfast all-day kind of place. I have always enjoyed the service there but I also don't mind a little attitude from a diner waitress either--and at a busy Sunday brunch it is lightening fast.

I have little to add to what others have already said. There is nothing gourmet about this experience, just good comfort food at a reasonable price, with caring service. This is a place where people go to enjoy each other and savor food, and it has become one of my favorites. Very relaxed.

Had the Souvlaki sandwich with chicken, fairly bland. The french fries were mushy and tasteless. It's a good thing there was lots of ketchup. Baklava was good, though. I won't be back.

My husband has been searching for the perfect local "coffee shop" and by "coffee shop" he really means "diner." Although this is a greek restaurant it fit the bill for his "coffee shop." They have black coffee that they rock at refilling, and plenty of breakfast staples. Their porch is breezy and welcoming for pooches who you can't bear to have breakfast without. Is that just a Denver thing? We've lived here for awhile and had a chance to sample a huge variety here. From basic bacon and eggs to falafels it makes me hungry just thinking about it. I've never had to wait like some other breakfast joints in this city and the staff is what you'd expect at a place like this. Friendly. Helpful. It's a solid neighborhood place that I hope continues to cater to the same clientele.

I really want to give this a higher rating because I love Greek food but I just can't. I was craving spanakopita and my boyfriend a gyro so we decided to get the spanakopita platter (came with both). I was warned by a friend to ask how recent the spanakopita had been made as it could be unpredictable and the waitress said "it's really popular so it should be pretty fresh". Needless to say it was not, it was soggy and not crisp at all. We were also told that the gyro was smaller than the gyro ordered separately but still a decent portion - well it was not a gyro, it was the insides of a gyro and small squares of pita. On the upside we loved the side of peas and the baklava was decent. I admit being a fellow Greek I compare all Greek food to my grandmothers but you should never get soggy, uncrisp spanakopita!

  • Tyler O.

Zorba's like that curmudgeony but loveable old neighbor - you just have to understand that this is a cheap Greek diner. There is no ambiance save for some old pictures of Greece here and there. The service is, well, like a diner. That no-nonsense feel *is* the ambience, and it fits the food well. You get real Greek staples like spanakopita (good) and pastichio (really good), along with American-Greek fare like gyros (so good your burps will be foul for days after eating one). As others have said, the fries are really crunchy and tasty. The salads, not so much, but you don't come for the salads at a place like this.

Zorba's is a good place for breakfast or lunch. They are your basic Cafe, the only difference is the all the Greek options. The Greek there is really good. They have a fairly large patio. It is a great spot to just relax and dine. Will the food or service blow you away? No. It is just a nice neighborhood cafe.

I would like to say that I have never been BLOWN away by anything here besides the avagolemeno soup I had about 2-3 years ago. I mean BLOWN AWAY. It is NOT the same and for that I am sad! Service is ok... I would say that these ladies that have waited on me lately are kinda on the grouchy side. I usually do Breakfast and it is usually right on~! I will always come here. If someone would rekindle that soup recipe I would buy gallons of it a week! Like for real!

I live nearby so I am a frequent visitor. I give it four stars because it is comfortable and convenient and the quality is consistent. The kitchen always does a better job (even with the breakfast food). If you're not in the mood for breakfast for dinner, try the Athena salad. It's my favorite greek salad in town. The service is also consistent, meaning that most servers are consistently good and one is consistently bad. I avoid the section the bad one is working (it's seat yourself).

Very good food - albeit a little pricey for what you get. Friends that have spent a lot of time in Greece claim authenticity with the food, though. Friendly and attentive staff, nice outdoor seating. And they do takeout!

The food is generous and good. There's also a very large menu and good choices aplenty. There's no overly emphasized theme to the place either, which is nice. My only complaint has been the waitresses. Some of them seem like either they don't want to be there or that they don't want you to be there.

I'm biased...I grew up a couple blocks from Chef Zorbas and have been eating there since I was old enough to know what a Gyro was. So to me Greek food should taste like Chef Zorbas. I honestly have no idea how good it is in the scheme of greater Greek food. I kind of miss the old place before the renovation-- a real greasy dive that was more of a take out place with a few booths sprinkled in to keep the locals happy. I think the one mean waitress somebody already mentioned is a relic from those days. I kind of like her because of that actually. Anyway, the new place is nice and shiny and real restaurant, but the food is still the same. It's not a knock your socks off type of place, but its been a neighborhood staple a lot longer than some of the other reviewers realize. I prefer the coziness and neighborhood feel of it to all the Greek places Pete owns on Colfax. I recently took some newbies there, and my Serbian friend fell in love when she realized they have Nescafe on the menu. I was able to try some of the hearty meat n' potatoes stuff with them, and it seemed good. I'm always satisfied with the Gyros & fries, but recently branched out and started ordering various appetizers. Also, for some reason it is absolutely the best place to go when it is snowing. I swear the food actually tastes better the lower the temperature goes.

  • Marci M.

I was really into the place by the outside, the inside looked kinda cool too. But the food wasn't that great. I got the greek salad, which another reviewer recommended, but it wasn't all that. The lettuce was wilted, the tomato had white spots on it (mold?) Our service was pretty slow and not super friendly. I probably wouldn't go back.

Zorba's was great! I went with my boyfriend and a couple of our friends pretty late on a Sunday night. It was quiet and the service could've been a little faster, but our waitress was SUPER nice so we didn't really care! One of my friends ordered the Spread of Greece (appetizer with 4 different dips including hummus and tzatziki) and they were all really good. Two of us ordered breakfast foods and two of us ordered Greek and EVERYTHING was REALLY, really good! Where else can I get feta and breakfast sausage on a pita, ha ha ha? I really liked the interior and exterior of the building as well. You get what you pay for too (really good sized portions). My boyfriend is still talking about his moussaka a week and a half later.

Sunday breakfast is my favorite meal of the week. This is what is important for me: good coffee, good biscuits, not too greasy. My manfriend Matt needs bacon and french toast. Also I have this weird love for vegetables with my breakfast. We got there at almost eleven. I was starving, we sat quick (there was four of us), nice outdoor seating, good coffee, my cup was never empty. Eventually they brought us our own carafe of the juice. The menu seemed a little on the heavy side for me, the omelets have four eggs in them! and looked greasy greasy. I get that people like this kinda thing. Everything was huge. So, I ended up with a veggie pita and a side of fruit, it was pretty awesome even though it wasn't totally a breakfast food, it had hummus and feta and grilled veggies. I went from very hungry to very full very fast. Next time I will get a fried egg on the side and put in on top of that shit. I actually really want to go back there and try that. Manfriend Matt gives the french toast four stars, because he is a bastard.

This was the first stop in our tour of Jared's new neighborhood and I have to say that I really like this place. Our group started with the sampler platter which was rich in veggies, feta cheese, pita bread, olives, and succulent grilled pork bites. We were able to try the tzatziki sauce with both sour cream and yogurt, we all liked the sour cream version better. Now for the food, not only were the entrees ginormous, but they also came with your choice of soup or salad. The soup, some sort of chicken/rice puree, was wonderful. Hardly anyone at the table could finish their food but loved it so much, they asked for a to-go box.

So I went for lunch on a Saturday, and I'm really glad I beat the rush. This seems like the kind of place where the waitresses will whack you with a menu if you don't order within 3.2 seconds of sitting down. And I mean that will all the love in my heart. I had a really really good gyro. They must put butter on their pita bread or something... butter is my siren's call. The menu is all over the place... Mexican, American, Greek, so I can't vouch for the whole restaurant, just the gyro. But if I were in the neighborhood, I'd stop by again.

A cute restaurant in a sleepy little enclave of neighborhood stores in Congress park. Love the neighborhood. I have only eaten breakfast here a few times, and while the food isn't mind-blowing, it is pretty decent. Good, basic stuff.. Zorba's has a comfortable, weekend kind of atmosphere and is worth a trip. I'll definitely make it a point to come back and give the greek food a try : afterall, the dude's name -is- Zorba.

It's a standard greasy diner with an identity crisis. They've got Greek, American, and even Mexican sections on the menu. Nothing to write home about, but if you're in the neighborhood and you're hungry, they'll have something to satisfy you.

this place cracks me up. don't get me wrong- i love it, but i just find it totally hilarious that that they have greek food, greek 'specials', burgers, mexican fare, and anything else you could ever really want. i feel like i shouldn't review it right now because i haven't had the falafel yet, but i've been here enough times to know that you get what you'd expect from this kind of place. it's kind of diner-y and greasy, but you can't beat that on a weekend morning. they also have a full bar, which is pretty funny, and last time i was there for brunch, the elderly couple next to us were having a post-church 3 martini breakfast. that alone sold me. the other thing is that you can always find the owner and his friends all hanging out in the booth by the tv, which is fabulous if you miss the sopranos and are longing for any kind of reminiscence. and if you are lucky, the owner will bring you by some cake (on the house!) made almost entirely out of sugar and white flour and more sugar with sugar-frosting.

okay, I met an old friend of mine here the other day, we had not seen each other for about 6 years, and I never knew this place existed. the neighborhood is cute and quiet, the restaurant is small and cozy. the "mean, nasty, tempered old lady with short red hair"... my friend requested her, I guess he likes her. Hmmm. Anyways, I had the lunch special, which was braised lamb with rice and peas, I wasn't blown away, but it didn't make me sick either, so it was a good choice. The lamb was actually very tender and flavorful, the rice and peas.... not so much I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but if I where invited or lost and starving on that street, then...... maybe.

Great little local place if you live in the Congress Park neighborhood. If not you'd probably never find it.

I want so much to like this place for breakfast--it has some delightful tables out on the street for a sunny morning; it's a classic neighborhood cafe in an interesting neighborhood; and it just seems like it will be so good. But then the food comes. Coffee: not good. The cheapest, thin dark liquid. Eggs: tasteless (scrambled--how can this be)?. Potatoes: also tasteless, sort of like straw. This place is entirely resting on its wonderful location and a loyal clientele, I would guess. It needs a serious kick in the pants--with just a small amount of attention paid to details (coffee!) and slightly better ingredients (and maybe a caring cook in the kitchen), it could be a great breakfast spot.

this place also cracks me up. every time i go there at 2pm on a weekday on their porch and have a big greek salad, couple beers, and some falafel, i have a great time. there are always freaks hanging out at the tables and funny people trollin the sidewalks. and the salad, whichever one, is always very very good. and 4 kinds of greek beer. i thought there was only 1 kind. what a pleasant neighborhood stop.

Great Greek diner. We go for breakfast and often order take out for dinner. The waitresses are efficient and know how to keep your coffee cup hot and full. For breakfast, I get the Unusal Skillet and my husband gets the feta omelette. For dinner we usually order the kabobs or lamp chops. it's not fancy but it's dependable and cheap and really good for the price. they have nice greek beer but the wine list is of the red, white or pink variety.

It is mostly a Greek restaurant, but it has American and Mexican food as well. It is always hard for me to choose a course because there is so much to choose from. Their Greek food is awesome. Way better than Pete's or Greek Town. And, if you just want a hamburger or Grilled Cheese, it's there too. They also have breakfast foods served all day. Now, if it was open really late, then you'd be set. They always have outside dining.

I live in the neighborhood so eat here far more often than I would otherwise, not to say that the food is bad, it just doesn't especially stand out from any of the other little greek cafe's in the area, though it is much quieter and easier on the eyes than the "pete's". The family that own's it is very nice as are most of the servers, but if you see an ugly, bitter old lady with very short reddish hair, sit in a different area or come back later--she's a nasty beast of a server and definitely a detriment to the atmosphere (she kicks at small birds and children, is always cussing and muttering about every customer, and tends to forget what you want). There is no real vegetarian plate (like a combo) but the spanokopeta is better than any other than Yanni's, and my boyfriend swears by the gyros omelette. So if you are in the area. it is a good place to stop for a bite, but it is not really worth going out of your way for it.
