Found this little gem in downtown Denver. The atmosphere is awesome. Cozy and down homey. I suggest ordering the dry aged ribeye from the butchers case. It was AMAZING. The drinks are prohibition style and delicious! Skip the charcuterie appetizer, a little too adventurous for my palate (chicken liver pate, duck liver pâté, shaved beef heart, the house cured ham was amazing!). Also, BACON WRAPPED FIGS, AMAZING! Great place if you are a carnivorous animal like myself ;)

We went in with high expectations from all the reviews we've read and we were not disappointed in the least! Michelle had the Crispy Chicken and I had a steak - both were outstanding - I mean "close your eyes and make noise while you're chewing" good. Don't skip the Deviled Egg, the Bacon-Wrapped Dates or the Pomme Frites (french fries). This place rocks!

Wow! I miss Twelve, the old restaurant in this location, but what a replacement this place is - great and creative entrees, delicious appetizers. interesting cocktails, knowledgable servers, and a charming mix of casual and sophisticated ambiance. I'm sure this place will get more notice soon, so get here now before word gets out!

This place exceeded every expectation! The food was so savory and the wait staff was so attentive but not in your face. We will definitely be back!!!

This place was amazing! Highly recommend the ham and egg sandwich and the smoked deviled egg! Service was excellent as well :)

Meat, meat and more meat. They have a ton of great choices, pretty hip little place. My only complaint was the burger was supposed to be mid-rare and it was well beyond that temp. Tasty sides, too.

Went for lunch today, service was excellent, staff was attentive and knowledgeable. Great wine and cocktail lists. Split a few small plates, the charcuterie is phenomenal! The house prepared meats were so delicious I took some home from the butcher case for the weekend. Can't wait to visit them again!

There is NO room for improvement! The food, the music, the service, the atmosphere...all completely fantastic! Our new favorite place, no joke. I had the duck - delicious and cooked perfectly. Hubby had the beef shank - OMG! May I suggest the apple cobbler? It's nearly orgasmic.

Wonderful place with wonderful service. The ice cream sandwich with duck is my new favorite food.

Loved that most of the meat was local. Service and ambiance was nice. Food fell short overall- hamburger was dry , croquettes were bland; pork chop and blue cheese salad were pretty good, but nothing special. I will not be returning.

Excellent lunch! Bahn mi and butcher burger are must orders. Sides of fries and roasted veg were great. Excellent casual but nice ambiance and wait staff was really friendly and helpful.

I'll lead off by stating that I am very judicious with my fives. If I award a place a five, its worth it. I first met the folks behind this operation at Denver Big Eat. They were sampling house-made sausage and house-made pickles, both of which were outstanding in taste. The folks running the stand were very friendly as well and allowed me to have multiples. I made a mental note to check them out at some point. I had that opportunity today prior to watching the D-Backs game at Coors Field. I was greeted immediately and was educated on the menu selections. I selected a pair of sausages from their current lineup as well as their house fries and a French ale. The French ale was very strong and tasty; unfortunately I don't remember the name of the brewery. Draft beer is $4 during happy hour. Much like the food at the Big Eat, it blew me away. You can tell they take time to craft items with care. The sauces are made in house, as is the kraut served with the sausages. I had the beer brat and a sausage marinated in red wine. Both had outstanding flavor profiles that were accentuated by the cucumber mustard. The fries are thick, topped with sea salt, and served with a house-made sauce. Its aioli like in texture and has a nice kick to it. Service is outstanding, FOH as well as back-of-house staff interacted with me and ensured I enjoyed my meal. This place is defintely worth checking out.

Checked out Bucher's Bistro for the first time today. It's kind of in a weird location but glad I happened to walk by. I stopped by in the slow time between Lunch and Dinner. Although the place was pretty empty other than a few guys at the bar, everyone on the staff was really friendly. The menu items range quite a bit in price (some were a bit pricey for Lunch). I decided to try their "Butcher's Burger" (Burger of the day). It was a beef patty with pastrami and a crispy patty of gruyère cheese and house made dijon aioli. Although this is not my normal kind of burger order I decided to give it a try. Wow, am I glad I did. It was DELICIOUS. I could really taste the quality of the meat they were using. I ordered it medium and it was cooked beautifully. I also got a preview of their happy hour food menu (3-6pm). They have small $1-3 a la cart items like bacon wrapped dates. I'll definitely be coming back.

Went in on a Monday for lunch.. Had 3 pieces of the Amuse the beef heart, the shrimp, and the Crispy Pig head..the crispy pig head was life Changing!! This crisp medallion of porky Heaven exploded with flavor the capers and sauce balanced out the rich creaminess..of the warm pork center...it was so good I ordered a second honestly.. Could have ate 6 More and not felt bad about my self at all!!! We split 3 sandwiches The Beef Cheek French Dip, Bahmni, and the Cheese steak, we told the server Jessica we all gonna share if they could just cut the sandwiches into thirds we all just want to share( so many great options) and when the food got there it was all divided for us not expecting that!! We are all pretty cool with eating of each other's plates.. The cook came out and talked us through the sandwiches.. And let me tell you not one thing we ate was bad!!! It was all amazing the chicken Pate was my favorite.... Drinks were amazing we start with something different the Cool Rummings we all changed to on our second great hot day patio cocktail this hybrid mojito was amazing 4 rounds of amazing!! Lunch ended up setting back a lil more then we expected but it was the rounds of cocktails like 5!! But who cares we were out to do some day drinkin on a holiday weekend.. Mission accomplished!! We all had a great time soaking up the sun, booze and food on a great lil patio...bull shitting with the staff and our lil group.. We are going back for dinner and can't wait!!

This place is amazing! You can't tell from the outside, but they have a cute outdoor patio in the back that's perfect for when the weather is nice. Food is outstanding though. They change the menu regularly so you may have different options when you go, but our table had the wagyu skirt steak, duck and pork chops. All of the food was perfectly prepared with fantastic flavor combinations. Highly recommend.

Butcher Bistro is killing it with the launch of this fantastic little gem in the old 12 location near the ballpark. As others have said, the 2 owners came from Snooze fame, but this is no breakfast joint. Fantastic lunch and dinner fare, great drinks, and a friendly professional staff are what you'll find here. If you're looking for some amazing fresh meat on a plate with some tasty vittles to accompany it, give these guys a try. You'll be glad you did!

I really like this restaurant. I have been there twice so far and have had a great experience both times. The wait staff is really friendly. They have a rotating menu that changes ever so often so it was a little different both times I went. They butcher their own meats and come up with tasty dishes to serve. Its also not overly expensive for the great food that you get there. If you are one of those experimental eaters then you might enjoy the pig face or the beef heart which was amazing. They also have this stuffed date appetizer that is amazing. Definitely try this one out. I know I will go back.

Such a lovely little lunch spot! (And I'm guessing it would be equally good for dinner so I'll have to head back soon and find out.) On a snowy Wednesday afternoon a co-worker and I headed to Butcher's Bistro for a late lunch. It was quite empty inside, but I loved the bistro-ish feel of the place. For my food I ordered their basic House Salad, which isn't basic at all, but comes with mixed greens, seasonal fruit, pinons, balsamic, and local goat cheese, and for $4 added perfectly cooked steak to it. Because I'm crazy pregnant I also ordered a second lunch item - the grilled cheese sandwich with smoked gouda, chèvre, and chile jack cheeses. Um, delicious. And so much food that even an eight month pregnant lady couldn't conquer all of it. Our server was wonderful and I'm definitely interested in heading back to try both the cheese board as well as another selection of meat, which is from Colorado, sustainably raised, and butchered daily in-house. I really like the concept behind this place and the food they make is approachable and delightful to the tastebuds.

The first dining experience I had in Denver and I have to say the food, atmosphere, and service were great. One of the best dining experiences I've had year to date.

What a fantastic place - party of seven? No problem. They sat us outside at a comfortable table and Alyssa, our server, was attentive and timely. Most of us ended up having the "wagyu" or 和牛 burgers and they were excellent. Cooked as we liked them and the beer was also excellent. We also had some excellent charcuterie before our meals. A great environment for a group or couple.

  • Stephen B.

We had the burger, the muffuletta, the charcuterie plate with cheese, a gin & tonic, and several craft beers. Everything was great. Our server was amazingly enthusiastic. Cannot wait to return.

It's a meal like this that makes me rethink all of the other 5 star ratings I've given! This place definitely takes the cake for me for best burger in town. The fries were incredible too! If you're a carnivore, then this place is a must! We will be back.

I had a great meal at Butcher's Bistro today for lunch. The incredible smell of BBQ brought me in and I picked a pulled pork sandwich. Awesome friendly service along with a great meal and a cold beer, a place to remember!

So excited about this addition to the Ballpark neighborhood....really good cuts from beef, pork, lamb, poultry, great seasoning and cooking, cool ambiance and friendly service. We went last night after multiple recommendations and enjoyed the meal. I went for the duck...with choice of breast or confit, I went for the confit, which was simply delicious, succulent, savory seasoning with just enough honey on the edges simply beautiful. My husband went for pork chops that were delicious as well and we shared an order of crispy and salty fries. We didn't leave a single drop of food! We saw other tables order sausage plates that looked fantastic, and the desserts sounded very yummy but we had to pass this time.

Colorado dining nowadays features fewer and fewer restaurants that have the cowboy charm I relished so much when I first visited (and shortly after) moved here for. Things have become entirely too chic and cosmopolitan for my grassroots blood. What happened to simplicity? Composing dishes simply - modeled upon the comfort and convenience that made going out to dinner an extension of home - has gone to the way side and it's too much of a far side in my honest good for something food-loving opinion. Consider tradition. Consider craft cooking. Consider the butcher and how most classic dishes begin with a honest man's labor. Consider the Butcher's Bistro an act of love and passion and you will consider - like I do - that this restaurant may be the best bistro our fair city has ever had...

I'm only sorry I didn't come here sooner. Creative, fresh, awesome foods. Friendly and welcoming and professional staff. Just go here I won't waste time explaining the usual positives. Trust the chef, trust the menu. You can't go wrong.

I've been to this place two times so far and each time has been exceptional. The best part about the menu is their Amuse Menu. I suggest buying the option to try all of them because each one is fantastic and unique in flavors, but the Pig Head Torchon and Shrimp are my favorite. For entrées, the pork belly and the house brined chicken are what I have tried. Each dish was sizable and the meats were cooked to perfection. In fact I don't think I've ever had such tender chicken in my life and the polenta it's served on is rich and delicious. Great place to take out of towners!

  • Todd H.

If you want a great steak this is your place. It was explained that they get their own cow each week and age the meets in house for about 30 days. Therefore their menu is always changing depending on where they are on the cow. So they always have different cuts of meat. I had the NY strip and it was amazing. Restaurant is not very big and they fillip fast after 6pm on a weekend so I would suggest a reservation. Service was on point and it is close enough to the stadium that it makes for a great place to grab a bite before or after a baseball game.

AWESOME lunch! Came here with a coworker and can't wait to try it again. Started with the bacon-wrapped dates, which I _loved_, continued on with the burger special -- they have different burgers and entrees rotating depending on what fresh meat they have. I love when a place can improvise based on ingredients, and you can trust the chef to come up with something fantastic. Also looks like a great place for drinks. Cool decor and great staff make this place a can't miss!

Lunch on a Monday, service was grrrreat - thanx Andrew! Nice space & setup, good ambiance. Lots of street people on the block during the day - kudos to Andrew for handling a bathroom request with good manners & grace. Meat was delicious, salad as well. Drinks were so-so. Will return...

Hands down one of the best restaurants I have been to Denver...and without the pretentiousness. Although I don't live in Denver, I would definitely come back during my future visits. The service was on-point. The waiter was very attentive and always had our waters filled to the brim. Don't think I have ever had a better waiter, even in $$$ establishments. Our table got the pate platter, pork chop, duck, meatloaf, and the beef cheeks. The favorite of the night was probably the beef cheeks...so tender and flavorful. The portions are just right for the price. Stop reading this review and go!

This place is THE BEST. Nose to tail, this place is one of the most forward thinking restaurants in Denver. Menu is always new and interesting and the service is unsurpassed. Awesome patio space in the back. Can't go wrong with the burger (which changes daily). Literally everything on the menu is to die for. Don't miss the flourless chocolate torte with basil ice cream (I know...try it). If you're wanting a little spirit, try the Old Butcher, the Bistro's version of an old fashioned. And you can purchase fantastic cuts of meat right there in the store...just like you own neighborhood butcher shop. Don't miss this place, folks.

We had just gotten out buzz on at Great Divide Brewing and needed somewhere we could walk to. Enter Butchers Bisto. The staff is very friendly, we're from San Diego and were just passing through denver for a day trip while travelling and asked them about their fair city and were more than happy to oblige. Apparently Colorado wine is something someone from California should avoid! The cut of steak was selected for me and was delicious, I can't remember what my wife ordered...but she was very happy with her order. I don't think I have a single thing to say poorly about this place, the only reason they don't get four stars is that I'm conservative with my ratings. Would definitely go again.

  • Daniel M.

I had never been to a "nose to tail" restaurant before this place. When I saw things like "head" and "liver" or "heart" on the menu I was a little hesitant. From the appetizers to the entrees, I was astounded by how much I enjoyed our selection. And the second time I came here I just came for charcuterie and Martinis... Which was an equally impressive visit. Don't stress out if heart isn't your thing... The menu is full of well-thought-out classics like steak, pork chops, etc! The staff is very well-knowledged about the food, where it comes from, and what drinks to pair your selections with. Service is great.

Absolutely amazing. The food is spectacular and the service outstanding. Best meal we had in Denver or Boulder while visiting. This was the first place we stumbled upon when we got in late on a Friday night and it sort of blew us away. Andrew, the bar keep, is awesome, easygoing and definitely loves what he does. Being in the service industry it's often hard to find people as genuine, kind, and still passionate about what they're serving up on a daily basis without pretentiousness. Andrew emulates what makes Butcher Bistro so special in that he offers the companionship any outsider is looking for in total guidance of the menu while casually attending to your needs like an old pal. It was so great we decided to go back for lunch before we flew back to Austin. Wonderful, wonderful. (Also, Andrew recommended Sassafras for brunch and it was just incredible! So go there, too!)

Lunch today with friend (4/30/15). So sunny and great outside, and sat in their awesome back patio! Stuffed clams, Wrapped dates, Cheese steak, and muffaletta... all good. Next time, outside on patio, with an adult beverage.

Food is overpriced! Keep hoping and praying to find a good steakhouse in Denver! I guess I am just used to Texas and Oklahoma steak houses where it's Great food, great prices, great service. Service was good

Stopped in here for lunch and am super glad I did. Everyone there was awesome and the food blew me away. I had the crispy pig head (no clue what it was but it was amazing) bacon wrapped date and some cheese donut concoction. Then had a bahn mi sandwich with fries. Can't describe how well prepared the food was and the tastes were perfect. Also had awesome Colorado inspired craft cocktails. Patio is open too but I hung out at the bar. Definitely check this one out!

My trip to Denver was awesome. After seeing PEARL JAM at the Pepsi Center my sister and i had a bit much to drink and woke up with a hang over. We decided that Butcher's Bistro was probably a good place to try and get over it. Their bloody's are pretty damn tasty...with dill in them! We ordered the homemade sausage plate with four different types. I don't remember what they were...i think one was buffalo or elk or something. But it was tasty as hell and came with french baguette, two types of mustard and home made pickles. We sort of filled up on that and the Bloody Mary's but i'd definitely go back.

This place is great!! Went here for my 30th birthday on Monday. Waitstaff is easy going and laid back. Food was AMAZING! Had the Pomme Frites and Spinach Croquettes as an appetizer. Highly recommend the Croquettes!!! Draft Beer selection is quality, not the usual boring Coors/Bud but local deliciousness. I had the NY strip for dinner and the wife had the 12hr Braised Beef. AMAZING!!!!!! Melt in my mouth goodness.

Butcher's Bistro is where it's at! And a place has to be really awesome for me to end a sentence in a preposition! I wouldn't have known about this place thanks to its subtle outward appearance but once again, Living Social led me to an hidden gem. We made it a reservation for Saturday night and good thing we did because this place was bumping. We sat immediately and looked over their menu, which like the décor, is minimalist. Usually I'm turned off by a small menu but everything sounded delicious which only left me contemplating what to get. They have a different burger of the day and when we went it was a burger with goat cheese and a polenta cake atop the burger with greens or fries. I love that for $2 extra you can get one of the sharable sides like a Caesar salad, totally worth the upcharge! The fry sauce you get with your fries is a nice ketchup/Sriracha mixture and I put it on my burger, on my fries, on everything (ok, not the Caesar but you can't blame me there!) Our server, Michael B, was the cherry on the meat sundae--he was prompt, personable and attentive. I will definitely be coming back for moooooooo-re ;)

Such sandwich!! Butcher's Bistro is a welcome addition to the burgeoning food scene in ballpark / rino! A mere block from my office, I'm probably going to have to get a restraining order....uh..on myself. The wifey met me for lunch the other day and we decided to check out BB, having not been in since they took over the space of what was [also] a delicious spot. We both got sandwiches, with the deviled eggs to start. Oh man, the egg was so smokey, the filling so creamy..one of the best deviled eggs I think I've ever had. Onto the mains, she got the pulled pork sandwich, and I kept up my eggphilia and got the Ham & Egg sandwich. Smoked deli-style ham, aged cheddar, and a sunny side up egg on ciabatta, anyone? Oh the humanity! We both eat everything, including the delicious fries, and were both completely stuffed to the gills afterward. Cute space, great food, solid (but small) beer list, and affordable to boot! I'll definitely be back!

Excellent. I fully expect it will make "5280's" list of Denver's Best New Restaurants this year. I went today for lunch and loved it. The atmosphere is very bistro-ish which I liked. The staff seems to be foodies which I liked. And the food was delicious. I had the burger of the day with caramelized apples and onions, kielbasa, and an amazing beer mustard. Their frites were also great. I can't wait to go back!

    (4)
  • Eric C.

So delicious! They let me try a pumpkin purée soup shooter that was phenomenal. Also the bacon deviled egg and spinach croquette was amazing. And I usually don't like any of those! Had the kielbasa burger for my entree, gotta say it's one of the best burgers I've had. The meat is definitely fresh and you won't find these dishes anywhere else. Good prices. $5 draft beer! Staff was extremely helpful and attentive. Good group of people

We had dinner on 1/23/2015. Tried a little bit of everything. Some things were great, a few items were mediocre, and none of it bad. Service was excellent. We ate a little earlier than normal (5:30) so we weren't dealing with a full house. But still, the service deserves some recognition. We had the following dishes, with our take on each item included: Smoked Deviled Egg. Probably the least favorite dish (or bite, I guess) of the meal. The flavor was good, but it tasted like it had been made that morning or the day before and refrigerated. Pig Head Torchon. This was very good. A great way to try some lesser eaten pig parts/flavors. Spinach Croquettes. My wife loved these. Especially the aioli/sauce that accompanied. I am not a huge fan of cooked spinach, but still enjoyed them. Charcuterie Plate. This was our favorite dish of the night. Great appetizer to share over drinks. The Duck Rillette and Pork Mortadella were especially good. Cassoulet. I think we both would have both liked this dish more had we not already had the Duck Rillette. It was good, but not a dish that I would feel the need to order again. Meatloaf. Excellent entree. Not an overwhelming portion size, which was good in our case, having ordered many smaller dishes. However, I could see it being an issue if ordered alone. The onion gravy and Giardiniera were both excellent complements to the potatoes and Meatloaf. Overall Verdict: Definitely worth a shot. Reasonable prices for above average food. I would go back just for the Charcuterie Plate. An added bonus is that, absent baseball season, it's a pretty easy part of Denver to find on street parking.

  • Aileen D.

Definitely as good as it gets. Our server was excellent and witty and patient with all our obnoxious questions and requests. I believe his name was Mickey. Thank you, Mickey! Our table of 11 ordered the charcuterie plate, the burger, the duck, the cassoulet, the chicken, coffee rubbed steak as well as 1.5 pounds each of filet mignon and bone in ribeye. Everyone was pleased with their choices. One friend reached a state of meat nirvana and another raved about the chicken being the best he'd ever had. We ordered the three desserts of the night also but I honestly can't remember what they were due to my meat coma but I do know I enjoyed them immensely. I can't wait to go back.

Food is delicious, but AWFUL service! It took forever to get someone to take our order. We had to flag someone down multiple times. When our order was taken, it took sooooo very long for our food to come out. We were here for over an hour before our food actually came out. After we got the food, our waitress hardly ever checked up on us. The restaurant wasn't that full either. There was about 4 small tables of customers at the time. But you might not have the same experience because almost everyone that came in after us got served well before us.

We stopped by Butcher's Bistro on our way to Breckenridge, we chose it based on Yelp reviews and were glad that we did! The staff and atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, and they did a great job with everything that we ordered. My fiancé and I shared the charcuterie and I got a steak sandwich and he got the ham and egg sandwich. Everything was delicious, including the accompanying greens. Nothing pretentious, just good food!

If I could give 6 stars I would, or special stars or something. This place is beyond fantastic in my opinion, and they are doing everything right! I called (last minute) about reserving 10 seats for a graduation dinner. Very friendly staff, very helpful in explaining a good time to come in, then when we called hours before our reservation wanting to come 30 minutes early, they said absolutely. It wasn't till we were sitting with drinks that we realized they weren't even really open yet! Staff is that accommodating. Food..AMAZING. I had the duck, but i think between my group we just about sampled the entire menu, along with the butchers case and everyone was raving. It's such a relief to take that many friends and family out and know that the food is going to be good. Service, equally amazing, would give 5 stars to my server (leah, lena, leanne, Lllll,??). Ugh, I should have wrote this sooner, so I could have remembered, because she deserves Kudos, we ran her nonstop, and not only did she perform terrifically putting up with all are jokes, and questions, she seemed delighted to be there. I can't be certain, but a family friend nearly 3 times her age may have even asked her out. Poor girl, but do you think she seemed to mind at all - no way! If I could have afforded to tip her $1,000 I would have. Truly a fantastic staff that knows the menu inside and out. Great energy and mood, when the management congratulated me on graduation everyone sang, the entire restaurant! That's the kind of place this is! Very friendly open atmosphere, but formal enough that this is where you take that girl you want to impress (oh and if you do, get her the deviled eggs and one of those bleu cheese dates wrapped in bacon and she may marry you right there at the table)! Ask your server, they know what I'm talking about and you can thank me later. Honestly I can't say enough good things. I tell anyone that mentions dining (and many who didn't) about this place, it's going to be a classic. Oh and thanks for the awesome graduation-celebration experience guys! Now to get through state boards, so I have a reason to come down and celebrate again!

After almost an hour of searching for a place to eat around downtown, we decided to stop in. The restaurant wasn't very busy, but that was perfect. Our servers were very attentive and polite. The food was fantastic. We had the Spinach Croquette's, Pulled Pork Sandwich and Shaved Pastrami Sandwich. I'm very picky about my BBQ but this sandwich was perfect. It came sans sauce which is the only way you should order it. The meat was so juicy, tender and flavorful that adding BBQ sauce would have been doing it a disservice. I can't wait to get back here and try something else!! Just a side comment.. I was impressed by the extra care and supplies provided in the ladies' restroom.

Stopped in for a late night dinner. Beer braised beef was melt in your mouth wonderful. Wife's King Salmon cooked to perfection. And don't overlook the bacon-wrapped dates! Waiter Mickey was personable and lot's of fun.

Great vibe, great service, unique "I'm on vacation, let's try this" selections as well as just good, well-prepared standard meat-eater delicious options. We had a morel and tenderloin pasta and strip steak and pig head and beef heart amuse. Servers were friendly, fast, professional and fun. Food was perfectly timed and prepared. An overall great experience, wholly satisfying. (Well-priced, too).

This is not really the cheapest place you have been for amount of food, but they do cut in the back room. My S.O. had the ti-tip and I wanted to try the Meat loaf because I also ordered the Cassoulet. The Meatloaf was not spectacular, but then again it is meatloaf, it was pretty good however; with some spicy carrots, and pickled grapes. The tri-tip was also very well displayed and tasted just as good. The Cassoulet was a shared dish and can totally worth the $8. the breadcrumbs on top added just enough crunch, with the saltiness coming from mostly the sausage, i think. Had great service all around. Should totally give it a try.

Stop now - go and eat at Butcher's Bistro for lunch or dinner! We had a fabulous family dinner (six of us) last night with service that could not have been better (thanks Leah and the rest of the team). Off the "Drink" side of the menu, we started with their crazy good Bacon Wrapped Dates, Sausage Sampler and Smoked Deviled Egg choices. Paired that with tasty draft beer - can it get any better than Three Barrel Hop Trash (IPA). On to the menu side, a variety of choices were made - Crispy Smoked Chicken, Grilled Shrimp Skewer, Braised Beef Shank, Dry Aged Sirloin and Sear Pork Chop. Wonderful presentation, only one minor concern with pork chop having too much fat and not enough pork - they quickly remedied the situation and delivered a meatier version - handled with grace and professionalism! Dessert - wow - Chocolate Torte & Fruit Cobbler - not a speck left on the plates! A couple bottles of their Graffigna Malbec complemented the entire meal - we left after 3 hours in high spirits and big smiles. Thank you Butcher's Bistro for creating a friendly, "no-attitude" environment for all to enjoy!

In our ongoing pursuit for a good take-out lunch spot in RiNo, I found BB on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Three of us ordered sandwiches with sides, about $30 total so pretty much in line with what lunch costs nowadays in hipster-central. The food was really delicious... so much so I was actually licking the plastic container it came in. I wouldn't really recommend getting take-out though. Everything kinda steams together making the bread soggy on your sandwich. Still tastes great, but kinda sloppy. I think the portions could be a little bit larger too... I was still hungry after my lunch. Other than that, I say well done. Really yummy grub, super nice folks on the phone, and when I picked up our order, and it was ready exactly when they said it was going to be. Next time I come by it will be a sit-down.

Butcher's Bistro is fantastic. Came here for lunch after buying a Groupon, I was extremely impressed! Service, food and atmosphere was all great. I tried the deviled eggs and olives first. Both were amazing. I had the ham and egg sandwich with brussel sprouts on the side as my meal. The ham itself was very delicious, everything else on the sandwich was too. The fried egg was not overcooked and still runny. The sauce did not overpower anything, I was still able to taste the flavors of the ham. My boyfriend had the steak sandwich, which he was very pleased with. The meat looked equally as good as my ham. I look forward to returning and trying out another sandwich, or alternatively coming for dinner (different menus). Butcher's Bistro is killing it!

Came here solely after seeing Yelp reviews and we're not disappointed. Great space with nice vibe and enjoyable atmosphere. Can actually hear, which is nice. Food was good. We had the bacon wrapped dates and cassoulet to share, both excellent. For mains we had pork shoulder and Denver roast and ended up eating off each other's plates. Both good not sure which was our favorite.

Absolutely fantastic experience! The ambiance is clean, simply, cozy and comfortable. The waitstaff was great as well. The effort and time that goes into procuring the quality of meat that they serve is truly admirable. Local meat- farm to table- butchered in house. I had an amazing burger and my partner had the Steak Frites (garlic fries- YUM). Extra kudos for the best Bacon Wrapped Dates I have ever had. The addition of gorgonzola and a nice balsamic glaze was spot on. I also loved the Beef Heart and Pig Head. I will try anything once, and those were so yummy I will do it again and again. Nice little patio. Great spot to get a really awesome meal before seeing a ball game. I highly recommend it.

Start with The Old Butcher, a fantastic bourbon cocktail. Then move on to anything and everything else. The Smoked Deviled Eggs and Spinach Croquettes were excellent starters. The meats were even better. All this was carried through fantastic service and ambiance. Eat here. Do it. You'll be happy.

We ordered a few different Amuses, cocktails, wine and beer, along with some To Share plates. Everything was well-plated and tasty. My main course was the Pan Roasted Duck, dark meat, medium rare. The dish was super flavorful and had a nice crusty skin on the outside. Yummy!

Best restaurant in the neighborhood. They will make you anything you want. I always ask them to make me bacon. It's not on the "menu" but it's awesome...and so is this joint.

Worst restaurant experience in Denver. Nearly every possible check mark for a miserable evening except being mugged. First upon approach with our guests, there is an overflowing trashcan outside the restaurant entry that just screams filth. We called early that day to try to get a reservation. According to them we could only be seated at the community table? They said they were booked but could try if we came in at 5:30? We did and were the only people aside from one other table and the people at the bar. Short story on the staff. Someone comes in with a bag, people come out from the kitchen and the bartender gather. Laughing and splitting up the cannabis someone evidently purchased on a drug run for the staff that night. That was while we were waiting for our drinks. Drinks come and two glasses are filthy. Complained and sent them back and were mocked by the bartender and waitress. Bizarre behavior. We take cleanliness pretty serious and didn't appreciate the caddy reaction. It was a polite request pointing out lipstick and dark spots. We started with the deviled eggs. They looked dry on the edges as though they were day old. Tasted rank. All of us were apprehensive but hungry. We didn't finish them but....Stupid us. two out of four were sick that night. BTW the two that didn't get sick had been on antibiotics for previous sickness. Shame on us for not spitting it out and leaving then! I ordered beef bourguignon. Yuck! Dry, salty, gristle and not the traditional gravy presentation. Second guest had the meat loaf. There was so much salt in it, he didn't finish it for fear he couldn't get his shoes on the next day. In fact the food was so overly salted, we wondered if the cook was a smoker with no ability to taste the problem? It was nasty. Steak was tasteless and certainly not worth the cost. Ambiance? How the heck can other folks rate the ambiance of this rat hole "Great"???? It was not cool rustic. It was run down and in need of a health department inspection. And take some pride in ownership by emptying the exterior trashcan and sweep the walks. It was embarrassing to take friends into such a dump. One of my guests had a birthday. They said she'd get a free desert. We didn't care about it but said why not. I noticed on my bill the next day they freaken charged us. I've never been so ill after a meal in this country. I predict they are out of business before summer. Too many other places that actually do it right.

Best restaurant I've ever experienced in Denver. I was exploring art district in a snow storm on foot and wandered into this meat-lovers paradise. The ambience, the care of the low key staff, the exquisite meats, even the salads, were delightful beyond words. A hidden gem if there ever was one. Neighborhood is edgy but that adds to the feel of coming in from the cold after a long journey. If you want an off grid gourmand's savory gastro pub, you too will be writing a review over your perfect cassoulet and glass of Malbec. Two minutes from financial district if you want to experience real life.

Seriously? I ordered the steak frites for lunch. I thought I was in Denver, where there are supposedly lots of big beef - BIG owners of Rocky Mountain oysters - just wandering around the plains, munching on grass, getting fatty... And I thought I was in 'Murica, the heartlands where you get solid high-value portions of food. ...Instead I get this tiny cute steak, pre-cut, like you'd find in LA or Miami made for some Barbie doll that can't operate a knife and fork on her own. Actually, scratch that - I know plenty of places in LA and Miami, where I'd get a much larger cut of tasty steak for $18. Ripoff, and it didn't taste that good either. 'Dry-aged' marketing buffoonery.

Positives; *quality ingredients, both beef and chicken by far the best meats I had in a long time, friendly *staff very attending. *Got complementary mini appetizer *easy parking Not so positive; *the main course dinner menu is kind of boring especially compared to their appetizer and lunch menu options *portion sizes are way too small no sides come with a $25 steak? Overall pleasant experience kind of expected a bit more food selection and portions for the price. I get the ingredients are amazing but compared to like a potager restaurant it seems a above average but not so outstanding. Iam sure that it will end up being a successful place they have got the right idea...

Holy cow balls this place is so amazing. The service, the cocktails, the ambiance and FOOD IS KILLER. Deviled eggs were unbelievable, the duck was unlike anything I've ever had and the New York steak was quite possibly the best I've ever had.. And I eat a lot of steak. Eat here. Do it. NOW

Tried this new restaurant on a recommendation from a client. It's the chef from snooze which says a lot so thought I would give it a shot. Definitely satisfied with the flavor of all the dishes!!! I had the beef shank which was great & my bf had the duck which he enjoyed! We had a few shares & some simple drinks. It was his birthday & they gave us a fruit cobbler from scratch on the house which was to die for! I loved the music selection which created nostalgia for me. I will definitely be dining here again!

We were fortunate to eat here on one of their opening nights. Wow! The smoked deviled eggs with bacon were pure comfort food yumminess. I had the salmon, which was excellent. And my hubby had the pork sandwich which he said was fab. The BEST thing is their pomme frites! I am not normally a huge french fry fan--now I know why: no one else does them well! Butcher's Block's pomme frites are the perfect flavor and crispiness. Literally the best fries I've ever had! We will definitely be back!

Food was acceptable but way small portions. My burger patty didn't even fit the bun. There was like 1/2" bun over hang on all sides of the meat. Don't let the quality spirits behind the bar tempt you. They don't know how to pour a cocktail..not even to save their lives. I will not be going back.

Amazing meal. I've been eating out a lot lately, and this place is better than a couple of $200+ meals I've had recently in Denver. The thing is, a lot of people are preparing food *perfectly* now. See Denver standby's like Fruition, Beast and Bottle, etc. Butcher's Bistro is going beyond that. The food is prepared perfectly, but it's also really freaking interesting! Starting with the drink, I got the gin one with berries and rhubarb and it was perfect- not too sweet but bursting with flavor that enhanced the gin. The house made sausage-smoked black pepper-was stellar. Then the mains- I mean it's pure talent when you can get to the end of the meal and be just as intrigued by the flavors as you were in the first bite. We had the chicken and falafel and the beef cheek. The quality of the meat was so incredible, we had to ask about where it came from. Of course it's a little family farm in the area. I'm gluten intolerant and they hooked us up with a great desert by taking the peach strudel they had and separating the strudel part so my friend could enjoy it while I enjoyed just the perfectly cooked and spiced peaches with ice cream that I seriously wish I could have bought a gallon of. The service was great too, you can tell everyone there is happy to be working at such a great establishment, and excited to meet new customers. I'm going back for my birthday in a week, because I just have to try more of what this amazing spot has to offer.

Wow. This place knows good meat. I stopped in for my 3rd visit this month and was again blown away by the dry aged sirloin, cooked and seasoned perfectly! Whoever works their grilling station in the kitchen is a f@&$ing rock star and I love how light and crispy they make their fries.

This place was great. The house-made sausage platter was an excellent starter. The beef cheeks were a great entree. I was a little underwhelmed by the smoked deviled eggs; it was a minor part of the overall meal, but I've had better. Agree with other reviewers about the excellent service, the lack of pretentiousness, etc. Overall, a great dining experience.

Awesome vibe. You can't get better quality food or service. I had gotten a tip that the short ribs were fantastic and even though they weren't on the menu, the chef prepared it specially for me and I was definitely not disappointed. It was perfectly cooked with great texture and yummy flavors accompanied by chimichurry sauce, pumpkin puree and pepitos. Fresh, original, and delicious!

Let's welcome Butcher's Bistro which took over Chef Osaka's Twelve space on Larimer. They came with the promise of nose-to-tail butchering while featuring the products both in the dining area, but also inside a meat counter. And... surprisingly enough, were featuring on Living Social fairly recently. This presented the rare opportunity of trying out an excellent restaurant with a deal. We arrived to Butcher's Bistro on a snowy night. We were promptly seated after confirming we did not have reservations. They have seating options ranging from 2-6 or at the bar. Our waiter was super personable, friendly and informative. We discussed the cassoulet (rich, perfect for the weather), the burger (must-have with chicharrones), beards (they allow them at the restaurant, an industry rarity), and more. My food-loving woman and I decided to try as much as possible, which meant no cocktails or wine. I was certainly tempted by their cocktail menu, especially the one featuring a Chartreuse rinse. We decided on the charcuterie board, the cassoulet and flank steak. The charcuterie board featured duck rillette, chicken liver pate, mortadella, ham, a beer mustard, a darker mustard, house-pickled cucumbers and bread. The bread was the only item not made in house. My favorite items were the ham and mortadella. The ham was thinly sliced and had a hint of pepper to it. It was such a fantastic shade of pink. The mortadella was thicker than I am used to seeing and possessed a coarse appearance. The pate and rillette were both quite spreadable with the rillette being slightly more dense. The mustards acted as great pairings. The beer mustard was slightly tart while the other mustard had a hint of dark smokiness on the finish. I heartily recommend ordering this board. Next up was the cassoulet. After deciding that it sounded like a hearty, peasant dish, we decided to order it. It easily met expectations, perhaps even surpassed them. We broke through the bread crumbs and dished up beans, sauce, and different pieces of meat. It was fantastic and we easily finished this dish. This is a great purchase! Finally, we ordered the dry aged flank steak with black truffle custard, chestnuts, and shaved black truffles. This was the most disappointing item we had. We ordered it medium and the presentation was excellent. However, it was tremendously chewy. Sometimes we enjoyed a darker end that disappeared quickly. The positives were the rare chestnuts, the truffle custard, and the flavoring they added to the steak. 3 bites in, we were debating talking to our waiter because he had been very responsive. However, he had checked in with us after the first bite when we didn't know the chewiness was a repetitive pattern. Would we go there again? Certainly. Great service, mostly great food, and we were inspired to really talk about the food. Would we order the steak? We would inquire about the steak before ordering. Should you go? Indubitably.

Great new place, friendly servers, chill atmosphere. I can't stop thinking about the duck, it was freaking amazing. Seasoned and cooked perfectly, crispy skin.. Drool. It could've used a side with it, but that's the only complaint. The potato and leek soup was also great. Only okay was the beef Wellington, the meat was tough and not as well cooked (but not worth sending back). Charcuterie board was good, if overly stocked with pates versus meats. That duck, though..

The food was very good, but the portion sizes were too small for the price. Our filets came with a "side to share." However, the "side to share" was not a sharing portion size. Our bill rang up as $15 for the 5oz filet (actually a good deal and a really delicious filet), and $15 for a palm full of our side of caesar salad and wilted greens (not a good deal). Their happy hour prices for drinks was really great - $3 drafts. Their happy hour food menu, however, is limited. $2 each for 1 deviled egg, handful of olives/3 slices of toast, and french fries. The food was good, but not sure if I'll go back because of their menu design.

Cute place, good food, and good service (which is hard to say in Denver!). Went for lunch with a friend and was pleasantly surprised that they also offer weekend brunch. We were stuck on eating lunch though and tried the dates, butter lettuce salad, the cheesesteak w/pomme frites and the cauliflower. All were delicious, the meat in the cheese steak was perfectly cooked. I am only giving four stars because I will have to come back for dinner and try a meat entree, as that is what they should be know for! I will be back!

Wandered into this place after a certain other place had too long of a wait for brunch, 11 on a Sunday. We were the only people in the place, and once we were seated, were informed that even though they didn't technically have a brunch menu, they could whip up any brunch foods we wanted. My friends got Benedicts which, I guess, were yummy. They specifically commented on the yummy ham. Also had a side of bacon which was amazing, I had them make me an omelet with bacon and some of the roasted veggies. By far the BEST omelet I've ever had. Also, a chocolate chip pancake was incredibly fluffy and crispy! Take home message 1) can't wait to try lunch/dinner there and 2) please make a brunch menu!! Will be back for sure

First time and will definitely return soon. Sat in the boneyard and had exceptional service. All the food from the small plates to the sandwiches were so good. Our server knew both the menu and the aging process of the beef well. The cool running a cocktail was perfect for sitting in the sun. Can't wait to go back for the dinner menu.

Excellent food and great service! The sausage (made in house!) and oysters were incredible! They have a great selection on their menu with fresh seafood and local meats. Plus their bar is stocked with local liquors- don't wait to try this place out!

I just smoked the first cigarette in months that I didn't feel bad about. It was the perfect end to a perfect dinner. I chose the burger of the day with brussel sprouts. This particular burger was topped with finely shaved ham that had the consistency of butter, the flavor of butter, so I had to double check that it wasn't actually butter. It was moist and rich and I don't even care about bacon anymore. The bun was lightly toasted and appropriately slathered in a Bearnaise sauce. The burger itself was correctly cooked to medium as ordered. I don't think they add anything to the ground meat. It was simply great quality beef. I have been looking for the best of every food in Denver, and this was the burger for sure. Who cares about the brussel sprouts? Except they were great too! I saved half of my meal with the intention to not overeat, but then I was asked if I wanted dessert...well, yes, "yes I would like dessert because I know it will be worth it." And it was. I chose the pear and apple cobbler. The fruit was sliced very thin, and tossed with all the stuff that makes cobbler cobbler. It was served really freaking hot, but no worries because it was topped with ice cream and caramel. A burger is not so hard to do right, right? Then why can no one else seem to do half as good a job as this restaurant? I am so annoyed with mediocre food! I am so grateful to have found my first favorite food spot in Denver!

I tried Butcher's Bistro because a former co-worker's husband is one of the owners. One of my networking contacts and I went for lunch today. I'm happy to report that we enjoyed every bite during our visit! The Banh Mi sandwich is amazing. The house-made pate was amazing, and I would recommend taking home some of that gem if you can. The bread overpowered the rest of the sandwich a little bit; I'd prefer bread that was a bit smaller. My dining companion had the cassoulet and a side of wilted dressed greens. Both were excellent! The wait staff was a little over zealous with taking plates, and even came by when I was still chewing to find out if he could take my plate. That said, I much prefer that he come by too often than not often enough. I look forward to seeing how the restaurant develops!

No complaints! Loved this place and our server Mickey was awesome. We had a big party with a minimum mistakes. The atmosphere was awesome and we were able to pick out steaks that were on display. How awesome is that?!?! Mickey was personal and very flexible for a demanding party of 10+. Next time we are in Denver, this is a most stop!

Based on other Yelp reviews, we went here with a group of 6. The wait staff was wonderful. Everything we ordered was delicious - the flavors were delectable and the meats were cooked to perfection. When we said we wanted to come back for my husband's birthday, they offered to make him his favorite cut of beef. And indeed, when we went back for his birthday, top sirloin was the "special" on the menu that night. Additionally, we had 1 vegetarian with us, so the chef whipped up a custom vegetable pasta dish for her. We'll definitely be going back!

Food was amazing, service was not. This place is all about the suggestive upsell, and they do it with all the subtlety and finess of a steamroller. It clouded the whole experience. As did the insistence that we order the appetizers at the same time as the meal. I get it. You want to turn over tables and not have customers get full on aps and then just order say, a salad as their meal, but this felt like the drive thru at McDonald's.

  • Steve K.

We went there for lunch and the place was empty. We sat at the bar and the bartender/waitress was friendly and attentive. When I looked over the menu, there was nothing that "jumped" out at me that I had to try. I went with the Ham & Egg sandwich. It was very tasty, although messy. I am personally not a fan of the pomme frites, but there was nothing wrong with the taste or appearance. The fry sauce was good but served sparingly. Overall, I thought it was good, but there was nothing on the menu that I needed to come back to try.
