My Groupon deals tend to be classier, so my date wasn't too impressed as we walked up. Did it classify as a dive? Filled with regulars, brushed off some fruitflies, worn interior. Perhaps. We sat ourselves at the bar. It only made sense since it was nearly empty. The bartender was friendly and seemed to know everyone. The menu is in transition she said, so it doesn't quite match the website. Based on the deal, we needed food and booze to equal the deal amount. Fish and chips, Hell Paso Burger with onion rings, scotch ale and scotch. Everything was well-priced, I thought. I enjoyed my burger, though I could have used more spice via the cream cheese. Whatever spice was lacking there, the spicy pickle made up for it. Heat-wincing, puckering brine, good combo. Brendan's Pub may not be my kind of place, but the food was solid and we were treated well.

I have to say I'm a pretty generous person, we all have bad days, but the bartender last night was sincerely the worst I've experienced in many years. Arrogant, antagonistic, and purposefully rude.

Went in recently for a drink, Brendans is a great little spot. Great prices and calm atmosphere. Bartender Danielle helped us and was super nice and helpful. Great patio, and new menu looked fantastic. Will be back soon for sure. Hours seems like they're open late.... Perfect....

I had a blast during Brunch Bingo! Food was really good, Bloody Mary with candy bacon was delicious and the cameo calls from people walking by were hilarious! If they didn't participate everybody would boo them.

A little neighborhood bar, sports fans unite here. Food smelled good. We came by for a beer New Years day, we went on a mini pub crawl, as my boyfriend and I both worked in hospitality/ customer service new years. Casual safe spot for a beverage.

I came in here Sunday for Geeks Who Drink at it's second week there. I can't tell you how impressed I was here. First things first, the place was busy for GWD and they only had one server who was also the bartender. I wish I remembered her name, but she was literally one of the best servers I've ever had at any establishment. She was attentive to every single table, she came around frequently, and even handled everything behind the bar like no one's business. There were at least 40 people in there and there was never any delay. Not only that, she was very personable and didn't even mind that she was getting her butt handed to her. The food was tasty, they have plenty of microbrews on tap and more in bottles. The place has been renovated and while it still has a dive feeling, they will make you feel right at home. The mix of people was very diverse. The music selection on the juke box at times was horrible, but other times it was wonderful. The bar didn't have that popped collar D bag feel to it at all. The prices are all quite reasonable. My friends got the wings and each one looked big and juicy. I can promise that I will be back here again. The service alone will make me come back again and again.

3 of us went to Brendan's, hoping for dinner. It was a Saturday, but about 7PM. There was a bouncer/doorman outside checking id's, which I thought was a little weird because the place was empty. But OK, we went in. Sat down...nobody came around to take our drink orders, or even acknowledge us. We waited, and about 10-15 more people came in. Still nothing. We ended up leaving and went down the street to The Hornet, which was really good. Maybe it was just a bad night, but we won't go back.

This place rocked in the beginning. A great friendly staff and the food reminded me of good pub food from around the US. Great steak deals, happy hour food and overall menu. Great place to see the Broncos Game too. Then it just got weird. The food is still good and so is the service. Sway and Jermain are always on top of it. The atmosphere is what is lacking now. It seems the owner is indifferent to certain people and has driven away industry types ( other bar owners and it's staff ) which is too bad. The south broadway crews are pretty tight. I was really looking forward to enjoying this place and I did for a moment. It seems now as if it will fall under the 404 curse of an unfriendly bar that caters to " older " types who don't want the younger crowd around. Maybe I'll come back in a few months and see if the atmosphere has changed. The last owner of this spot made a fatal error as well and ignored the south broadway culture and closeness of its residences. Let's hope for the best. We need more spaces where everyone can be comfortable and welcome.

This place is alright. The drinks are cheap, it's adequately dirty, and you meet a fine cross-section of losers, degenerates and weirdos - all, I might add, without any of them being the type to keep a sharpened screwdriver tucked in their waistband. In that respect it may not be a true dive bar, though occasionally even I like to enjoy a few drinks without having to assess what nearby objects could be used as a weapon. Nothing spectacular here, just a dive-y bar that's a nice break from the juiced-up animals and smirking hepcats of the rest of South Broadway.

Updated (12/20/14): improvements have been made, especially in service. Menu is still limited and overpriced for what is offered. Bar is adequately staffed and lots of tvs let you watch a variety of sports. Drinks are always cheap and strong

Typical little spot, but the service at the bar could use some work. I'm not sure what the deal was, but either way, it took a long time to get food and drinks. We ordered two drinks upfront because it was so slow. Other than that, it's a grungy little pub. The tables are sticky, and there's really not much room anywhere, but the prices are excellent and the whiskey-gingers are large. The waitress was nice, but the guy standing at the door was kind of a jerk.

Great club for food and especially live music. Jerry's 404 lives on with the Steaks and a new twist "great live music"

The new incarnation of Brendan's is an interesting joint. It's definitely a dive bar with a dated, dark and worn interior, but it's not too grimy. When we visited on 7/31/14 there was a leak coming from a rusty vent in the ceiling which caused the place to smell musty and dank - but it seemed to fit the overall vibe. We ordered up some grub - the Jalapeño Burger and the French Dip - both were surprisingly tasty and hearty. And the bar tender doing double duty as the waitress was really welcoming and attentive. Most of the clientele on hand during our visit appeared to be neighborhood regulars, but the bar tender was just as friendly with drop ins as with the regulars. If you don't mind a neighborhood dive with a run-down vibe counterbalanced by a decent selection of reasonably priced brews, booze and chow, this place deserves a visit.

A wonderful dive bar that is so much better inside than it looks like it is outside. The burgers were great, the brew most tasty and the service was really really good. Lisa was awesome, we never needed anything for more than a few seconds. Really friendly neighborhood bar. You need to check it out.

I stumbled upon this place looking for something a little different, and it didn't disappoint. Andy was very engaging and outgoing, and Kevin? is a very good host. I was welcomed by the regulars like an old friend. This is the type of place to go if you want an upbeat social experiment of a dinner. The dinner I chose was the ribeye, and it was tender and cooked just right. Next time I'm in town, I will be sure to stop by again!

It's been a while since I was here. It's changed hands and it was definitely for the better. Shepard's pie was awesome, Mike's service was outstanding. Its not rhe Taj Mahal but it's a good bar.

Great patrons and staff, average denver-style bar, quality stage and sound tech for live music. I went here to see a local band play, the sound tech kept it super clean. The stage room is separated from the bar room enough that it's almost its own venue, plenty of seating and a dance floor. The bar side is good size, fairly modern, I think there's a pool table. Barstaff was cute and friendly, average price for this neighborhood but their mixed drinks are poured generously. The extra star on this place goes to the patrons though, without the sociable and friendly crowd here it doesn't really "stand out". Go here if you're a people person.

DIG! I went today for lunch and will be back...probably tomorrow. Wings are delicious but the burger is top notch. I'll admit, I'm fairly simple in my burger eating. I like American cheese and LTOP. It's the right thickness and done on a griddle like it should be. Drinks are cheap and the bar staff were very friendly without being fake...almost as if I'd been going for years. I'm a fan for sure. Good show boys.

Brendan's is a fantastic neighborhood pub in Denver. It functions well as a quick stop-in after work or an all-day marathon of NFL watching with great people on Sundays. The bar's owner Kevin makes you feel right at home and the bartenders provide great service with a smile. I highly recommend it!

My girlfriend and I came in for lunch and a drink a few months ago. We waited a while at our table. The bartender was alone so I get it. She was very pretty. Supermodel caliber looks. I love my girlfriend and would never stray but it was hard not to notice. Thought I'd mention it for the single guys out there. Anyway, we had a couple of pints as the place filled up. The bartenders backup arrived just in time. I was at a pub and thought I should go Irish with my entree selection. I did. I went with the Shepherd's Pie that was the special for the day. It came out. It looked innocent enough from the top. I broke in. It was lousy ground beef and gravy bland mash on top. Having a small amount of Irish in my blood, I was more than a small amount offended. There were hardly any vegetables. There was no flavor. The beef tasted dry and was tough. I was so disappointed. It was a big portion. Didn't make up for the lack of quality. BTW, I thought Shepherd's Pie was made with minced lamb? I could be wrong about that. I think that lamb is just more common in Ireland. Less area for grazing cattle in Europe. Lamb is a lot more expensive here in the states. So I get it. I prefer Lamb personally though. Step your game up. This is an add on: I heard they hired a new chef recently and took the shepherd's pie off the specials rotation. "Stepping their game up." Might be worth a second look. Probably not me. I did not appreciate the insulting message I got after posting my review. Don't get mad or sad at bad reviews. Just get better. New chef was a good start. Insults don't bring people back. A simple we made some changes and you should give us another try would have possibly got me back in for a second chance. Fail on the customer service end. I'll bring it up to two stars for getting rid of the last chef.

Not impressed with the owner of this establishment. I came in on a Saturday evening to grab a beer and noticed that there was a band setting up in the other room. I asked the bouncer who was playing he didn't know so I asked the bartender she didn't know either. Strange so I order a beer and move outside for a smoke. When I finished I came back to check out the now set up band and take a seat behind the sound table that the owner is pretending to work. Clearly he's never operated one of these before and won't allow the band to finish a single song while he stabs away at a system he doesn't understand. The audience is becoming frustrated as is the band and I ask if we can hear one song from start to finish? I give up after a half hour of this and head back out for a smoke. Once outside the bouncer runs up on me and says I have to leave? I ask why and he says the owner wants me out? So I assume if you make a comment at this location that the owner doesn't agree with he will send his flunkie to remove you. I am sad about this because this is my local pub but I will no longer frequent a venue where a simple comment will get you ejected. Word to the owner if you aren't open to criticism why did you open a bar???

This iteration of 'club 404' is just as good as you would expect. A delightful dive with a large patio, a weird vibe and lots of local goodness. They have a variety of tasty brews available and some interesting events on their schedule. There was a foosball game being projected when we stopped by on a Thursday, so that was neat. Don't go expecting anything fancy and I don't recommend trying to eat there, but if you are looking for a good dive experience to begin or finish a Broadway pub crawl, this is the spot for you!
