High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

The food was better than I expected (blackened tilapia), but I wouldn't necessarily come back here. We came here for dinner a couple weeks ago, and got a table right away. Our server was very friendly, but his table side approach was lacking. He walked right up to the table and said "what can I get you to drink?" No hello, no nothin'. The women's bathroom floor is very sticky, bathroom smells strongly of sewer gas - so much so it was difficult to breathe. Server next to us was very thorough in cleaning and moved tables to get under them. The weird thing was we didn't get our check or a goodbye from our server. We got our check from someone else with no explanation. It was a really bizarre ending to the meal.

Was here last night. Disappointed!!! Had 2 coors light and cedar chicken, 1 ice tea and 1/2 slab of rib, Asian salad with water, bill $57. Sticker shock to say the least, food ( cedar chicken) was not filling, the other dishes did not look like much either. To be fair, we had the boneless wings w honey bbq also as an apptz

I have given this one a few tries and it is just not there, the food came out cold, some the plates were missing key ingredients, service was slow and it took forever to get any refills. If you are going to show pictures of your food, then please try to make the plate look like that picture. I understand it is not going to be exact and absolutely perfect but if it looks like you have quite a bit of rice, veggies or potatoes, then make sure to have them on the plate. I wold say it was one bad night but this was 3 different visits, everyone has a bad night and does not deserve a bad review but 3 times and the ticket being between $90 and $150 each, well does not make me happy!

I used to come to applebees all the time for lunch and happy hour with family or co-workers. However this time we went for an early dinner with the kids. There was 9 of us and though the restaurant was pretty empty at the time we still waited a while before tables were put together for us and we were seated. The manager took our drink order and said our waitress would be over shortly. After about 10 minutes we finally received our drinks and he asked if the waitress had been by and we told him no. Finally she came by and we got our order. When ever we asked for anything water or extra salad dressing its like she for got all about us. Lucky the other waiter there came by and asked us if we need anything. I ordered the Thai Shrimp Salad and the dressing was disgusting. Instead of tasting like a peanut dressing like it said, it tasted like a bbq vinegar dressing. awful, I could barely eat it. When we asked for the check again we had to wait forever. She finally stated that she was new. I feel the manager should not have given her a big party or have been more helpful. Maybe even had another person helping her.

Very slow service. Okay food but not for the price that was not worth it. Everything was less than average. The servers were more interested in a table full of either friends or fellow servers whonwere off duty. Am I coming back? NO!!

Came in in a busy Broncos game day. 2 for $20 is a pretty good deal and cheap for some restaurants today. The selection of food is pretty large and you always know what to expect at chain like this or Chilis =mediocre food. The vegetables always seem to look and have a texture of "Fake" to them. Customer service was decent at this location considering it was a game day.,

We visited Applebee's tonight because my husband had a gift card. First, the hostess asked the two parties ahead of us if they wanted to sit in the bar because it was open seating. Neither did. Then when it was our turn, she asked us and acted like we were were inconveniencing her when we said we didn't want to sit in the bar. Once seated, our server came and took our drink order. She was very sweet and attentive. We ordered an appetizer which was later was delivered by a different server. This second server said she'd bring us some little plates and additional napkins. When she returned with those items, the top napkin had food on it and we all saw it, including the server. Instead of taking the napkin away, she just turned it over and left it on the table... WHAT? My husband's french onion soup and my garden salad were both really good. The salad was very fresh and the blue cheese dressing very tasty. My husband's double-crunch shrimp was also good. I order the mac and cheese with honey pepper tender crisps. The chicken strips were good -- a little sweet, but I expected that. What I didn't expect, however, was for the pasta to be sweet. The menu description is: "Honey pepper balances the richness of this dish by giving a sweet and savory flavor to our breaded chicken tenders. They're served atop a mound of our indulgent 4-Cheese Mac & Cheese loaded with Applewood smoked bacon." I certainly didn't read "sweet" into the mac and cheese. I tried to eat it, but just couldn't... Finally -- there was a man making balloon shapes. I know the kids love that -- and he made some really cool things. However, the noise from the balloons twisting and rubbing was disturbing. I'm not sure how to get around that -- just commenting. All-in-all -- I think we decided we prefer Chili's over Applebee's...

We were lucky to have Hannah as our server to help us find a vegetarian option as there aren't any on the menu. Even the tomato soup is made with chicken stock. I'm surprised they didn't even have a veggie burger. I had the veggie patch flatbread which not on the menu.

I came here Sunday 3/1/15 and sat at the bar and enjoyed the new pub menu and new food options. The one thing I noticed right away that other Applebee's don't have is that atmosphere. Everyone knew everyone. The servers knew the patrons and the patrons knew the servers. Kristopher was my server for the majority of the time and did a fantastic job. Very friendly, quick serving, and great follow up. The runners were friendly as well and when we asked the runners for extra items they did with no hesitation. My only gripe with Applebees is that the food never comes out hot. It always seems to be warm like it may have been sitting for a while. And this isn't just this Applebees location, I've noticed this at several ABs in Colorado and even in Montana. And just to make sure I wasn't losing it I asked my guest and she verified the same thoughts. So my only complaint would be that food being warm vs. hot.

Well, color me surprised and pleased. I won't lie. I don't think much of chains like Applebee's and Chili's. I consider them "expensive fast food". So, tonight, when the only thing open around us was Applebee's, I was prepared to be disappointed. We walked in around 11:30 PM, and the bar was packed. I had a splitting headache and asked the manager (who was seating us) to please sit us in the quietest area he could. I could tell that large portions of the restaurant were already closed down and being cleaned, and I wasn't going to be a jerk and ask him to seat me in any of those sections. But, he smiled, and said he knew of a quiet place. He walked me to the other side of the restaurant, as far away from the noise as we could get, and sat us in one of the already closed section. I was more thankful than I could tell you. We got the 2 For $20 deal. My Fiesta Lime Chicken was really freakin' awesome. The chicken breast was cooked /perfectly/ and was really nicely marinated. Even my fries were perfect. My boyfriend's salad wasn't as good as my entree, but come on, it's a salad. The spinach artichoke dip was also really good. Our waitress (Traci) was really bubbly and friendly and put me in a good mood (and, I really wasn't in one when we arrived). Despite our seating location in the closed section, we were still checked up on more than once to make sure we were happy with everything. What can I say? It was a great experience, and I'll be back. I would have given them five stars, but the prices are really high. $10 for a club sandwich? Meh.

Ordered two Fiesta Salads for pickup. Got screwed. Hardly any lettuce in either $10 salad. Evidently they figure you will be home before you discover they've screwed you.

I really use to like eating here....but the last couple of times, including this one....it has been a joke. First off the waiter didn't even let us sit down before asking what we wanted to drink....and before I could tell him....once I sat down..he was so busy trying to talk over me he couldn't hear what I actually wanted....then once I ordered my entree....it looked nothing like the picture in the menu. Now if you are going to put pictures in your menu of your food....then have the decency to have the food come out looking close to the picture.....but the dish I ordered....margarita chicken and shrimp over rice...was ehh..just ok. and It was no where as much food as the picture. The picture showed food filling the plate....what I received no where even came close to filling the plate. I felt like i was not getting what was advertised...when I asked the waiter to bring me a menu so I could show him the difference.....he never showed again till he brought our check. This will be the last time I visit this place.

Its been 5 years since I've been here... I guess what was I expecting?? Its Applebees. Girlfriend and I went out on date night, and every other restaurant was hour plus wait.... So we ended up here. First off, the menu looked awful and bland before even opening it... We got the two for twenty meal and it started with an app/salad choice. We wanted to be healthy so we got the salads. That's when it started.... Our salads came out on HOT plates.... Literally hot like an entree plate. So the salads were spoiled fast.... Dinner came out. She got the chicken tenders and I got the rib basket. Which by the way... Doesn't come in a basket at all. Ribs are about 80% bone... So expect that. Also, there is currently a promotion going on where if the server doesn't suggest a gift card, you get a free dessert. Well our server didn't suggest a gift card. And no free dessert was given. We asked and he said "oh I was going to suggest them right now" ... This was already after our check was done and paid for. Not too happy with that. It will probably be another 5 years before the idea of going back there comes across my mind again.

Great place to hit up for late night happy hour... very friendly staff and Ryan is a great bartender :) Played Farkle at the bar for a couple hours, got hooked up on drinks, had some wonton chicken tacos that were very tastey, and got the WII out to do a little friendly battling. Apparently also there is a mystery man who makes the "BEST" margaritas... he even brings his own tools in to concoct these drinks... one of these days I will meet this man and test out this drink.

I used to like this place. The food was good and the other diners were civil (read: they used their inside voices). I've since become a vegetarian so the pickings on the menu were very slim. But that's my problem; let's get to the reason for my poor review of Applebee's. THE LOUD MUSIC. Why do restaurants insist on playing hard rock music and turning the speakers waaaaay up? Do they think we don't want to converse with our dining companions? Do they think their music is better than any conversation we could possibly have? Do they think we actually ENJOY that crap? Maybe I'll have to open my own restaurant where the music is just "white" noise and maybe I'll pick classical music instead of pop rock. Maybe I'll divide the restaurant in two: one half for the people who insist on talking loud enough so everyone in the restaurant knows their business, and one half for people who use their inside voices and respect their fellow diners. Anyone have $200,000 to help me get started?

How can I describe awful? How about an entire meal that comes to you undercooked not once, but TWICE? Really? When I ask for a steak done "medium, Hot and Pink" and it comes out bleeding and red, that's nowhere near medium. The baked potato was hard as a rock, and the vegetables? Try warm salad on my plate, because everything was totally raw. I've blanched vegetables for freezing more than these were cooked. Even the Zucchini slices were hard and raw, and every cook knows those are the easiest veggies to overcook, but you can't cook them mixed with carrots and broccoli without expecting the squash to disintegrate or the veggies to be raw. C'mon, guys, that's home ec 101. You steam the tough veggies until just starting to be tender, then you add the tender veggies to finish the dish with the seasonings. And a baked potato has to be cooked until you can squeeze it. And the steak? if you don't use a meat thermometer that is accurate, then you can slit the middle half way to look at the readiness, then turn it over to serve it if done, or turn it over to cook it a little more if not done enough, to keep the heat in the meat. You have to know the hot and cool spots on the grill and cook the more rare steaks over the hot spots shorter, and the mediums and well dones on the cooler spots longer. My meal was so poorly prepared, I had to take the meal home to cook it myself to get the steak to the proper done-ness. The potato and veggies were still raw after giving it a quick blast in my inverter. I had to nuke the potato for an additional 5 minutes to get it done to barely edible, and the veggies I ended up throwing away as they had already gotten dry and I got tired of trying to fix their screwup. This is a very simple dish to prepare, but the cooks aren't capable of of preparing the most basic food well. Being open late is the ONLY thing this place has going for it. The food here isn't worth dirtying a dish.... The food is overpriced and poorly prepared. Probably the last time I ever eat at this chain.
