    When I pulled up Yelp, I was surprised to see the rating so low. This place is awesome! We stumbled upon this restaurant while visiting Breckinridge, and popped in to have a few drinks. Great atmosphere! We had some drinks and appetizers at the bar. Sean was great!! Cute restaurant and highly recommend!!

    We originally had plans to visit another restaurant but found it closed today for a private event. Bummer. A quick Yelp search led us to Michael's. The restaurant was right around the corner so we thought we'd give it a try. We were there for an early dinner and were seated quickly. Our waitress, Stephanie, was fantastic, friendly and professional. I wish all waitresses could be like her! We had the spinach/artichoke dip appetizer which arrived lightly browned and literally bubbling from the oven. It was hot, cheesy and tasty. I saw clams with red sauce on the menu and I asked if they did a white sauce instead. I'm not crazy at all about the heavy "white sauce" that is prepared in some restaurants, so I made sure that this was the butter/wine/herb sauce. Stephanie said it was and that it was a favorite of hers. Of course I had to order my personal favorite! We also ordered chicken parmesan (a large portion), clams with red sauce, and kids meals. Everything was hot, tasty and delicious! The restaurant itself is in an older house. It's slightly dated like most Breck eating establishments. I don't review on the building though, just the food and service. I give it 4 stars, plus another star for Stephanie, our fantastic waitress!

    Our family had the spaghetti with marinara....probably one of the best marinara sauce we have ever had! Being vegan, there are limited choices in Breckenridge, but our pasta was vegan (no egg used!) and the marinara sauce, too! Our waitress, Courtney was outstanding and also instead of garlic bread gave us a fresh french baguette with chopped garlic on the side. Service was excellent, food was great...wish we would have eaten here earlier during our stay in Breckenridge!

    I have been going to Breck for over a decade and knew of Michael's, but hadn't ever been. So, this past Saturday night I wanted to dine somewhere I hadn't yet been. I phoned and there was no wait so we headed over and were seated right away. The décor is lacking- they have red & white check table clothes, but I feel food is more important than décor. We got the Cesar salad for 2, but was plenty for 3. I enjoyed (and practically licked the plate clean) the meat lasagna. My friends enjoyed their tortellini with a cream basil sauce and the mussels. Our server was really nice and on top of refills throughout the meal. I think for the portion and quality this is a great value in Breck.

    If you want authentic style Italian in Breck then this is the place for you. The decor and tablecloths leave something to be desired but the food is amazing. The White Lasagna is delish with seafood mixed in instead of tradition meat. We also had Baked Ziti and the kids had spag meatballs and all were tasty. This place is tucked just off main st. In Breck and it's a cute and tasty place for the family. Service was good. Very nice and attentive.

    We went there during the World Cup finals. They were slammed, but the bartender seated us immediately at the bar. The service was fantastic. His suggestions for menu items was spot on. The white lasagna, while rich, was delicious. My husband has the Orecchiette pasta with fennel. It was amaze balls. I highly recommend this place.

    Good food and service! Simple menu with pizzas and pastas to choose from. Everyone in our party was pleased with their meal! Great place to go in Breckenridge! We walked in and got a table right away and when we left there wasn't an empty seat in the house!

    Hmm.... our experience at Michael's. Well, first, let me tell you about our experience searching for city-folk-quality-food in Breckenridge. I can actually sum this up in one sentence: this is a small town that recommends restaurants based on what their friends own. The first "recommendation" was ridiculous, the second one brought us to Michael's. Micheal's is set back in this little village of a sort, that nearly resembles Elves Homes! That is a huge plus in my book! Upon arrival into the actual restaurant, we were a little shocked by the mediocre decor - after all, we explained we were in town to visit the mountains and to celebrate a birthday in a fancy restaurant enjoyinbg the best food in Breck. When we were seated, our server was not as pleasant as I would have liked, but more disappointing was their lacking menu. They don't even have broccoli - not on the side OR in their pastas - nor a pre-set house dressing for their house salad!! That alone put a bad taste in my mouth. Nonetheless, I carried on and ordered my food. The food really was delicious! Since I don't know what else Breckenridge has to offer, I can't say "GO GO GO!" but it was a nice treat if you are looking for a filling Italian meal in the heart of main street. :)

    Food was beyond expectations. Penne with artichokes and olives was a great twist on a Puttanesca. Chicken parm was terrific. Raviolis were very good. Garlic bread was OFF THE CHARTS! Service was good. Very pleasant during a busy rush.

    Michael's has Coke products!! Dining in Breckenridge often requires bringing your own Coke products with you, since this is clearly a Pepsi town. Italian food just doesn't taste right with Pepsi. Michael's has great wines also. But as you know, the high-altitude amplifies the effect of alcohol. I've tried most of the food items on the menu and they are all excellent. As good as you'll find in New York or Chicago. The service here is first class. About one minute after receiving our entrée our server came back to see if everything was okay. She then came back about five minutes later to check on us. There is plenty of seating where you can get away from the television if you want to. (Never really understood televisions in restaurants anyway.) We dine here every time we come to Breckenridge and have never been disappointed. ( And you don't have to bring your own Cokes !! )

    Visited this place on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday. The service was excellent!!! Our waitress was very patient with a group of 7 and well rounded with explaining the menu. The food was by far the best. Everyone on our table was extremely please. We ordered several menu items from Caesar and House Salad, we recommend the Caesar both were good but the Caesar was better. Our entrees consist of White Lasagna, Bake Ziti, Tortellini with Pesto, Orecchiette dish, and Stuffed Shells. Everyone was pleased with each dish and raved about there own dishes. For dessert we had Tiramisu and Cheesecake with Chocolate drizzle. Both desserts were excellent. We definitely plan on returning to this place on our next trip up.

    Such a cute restaurant. The food is great. I got the white lasagna and it was all I could talk about for days. The only draw backs were the bartender being very rude and there were plenty of open tables and we still had an hour long wait.

    My friends and I were looking for something that could accommodate a small group that was close to our rental house in Breck. It seemed that most of the restaurants in town don't take reservations which makes it hard for a group. We stopped in later on in the night hoping that we would avoid the dinner rush and put our name on a list. We only waited a short time, maybe 15 mins? We were sat and immediately greeted by one of the best waitresses I think I have ever had. Her upbeat attitude and demeanor was so pleasant and her recommendations on the menu were spot on. I ordered the baked ziti which was delicous. The mix of but or the alfredo and meat sauces was to die for. It seemed like everything on the menu was delicious and everything came out in a very timely manner. The atmosphere was quiet and you could actually have a conversation with everyone at your table without having to shout. It was our last night in Breck and this restaurant was exactly what we were looking for. It seems that most people rated them poorly because of the time it was going to take to wait so I would recommend waiting until after the dinner rush on the weekend during peak season. I think we showed up at 8:30-8:45pm.

    Chicken pesto pizza was really good. Their cocktails were also pretty solid. Perfect place to get hearty food after a long day of skiing. We sat at the bar and got great service from Sean.

    Very good find...chicken parmesan was excellent. The spaghetti and sausage was delicious. My wine glass was filled generously and the staff was very friendly and efficient. There is also a nice outdoor seating are for these nice evenings. We definitely return!

    I was surprised by how few reviews this place has - apparently the owner does not like to use marketing. But I was pleasantly surprised by our experience at this place. The service was great and friendly, the food was great and the prices were very affordable. This is a very typical Italian restaurant with the classic red and white squared table cloths. So if you are in the mood for Italian food you will not be disappointed. Only thing they can use is more tap selection.

    Anyone giving this place more than 1 star is clearly high. This would be one of the WORST dining experiences I have ever had. I had the distinct displeasure of dining at Michaels this evening. Let me start by outlining very clearly why I won't be returning. 1. Garlic Bread - not baked thoroughly- cold in the middle. 2. When I asked whether the Baked Pasta Shells were fresh made I was informed that none of the pasta there is fresh or handmade. All either frozen or store bought... 3. I took the waiter's recommendation foolishly however, and tried the Baked Pasta Shells, after being assured they were excellent. There were decidedly not. The stuffing (ricotta and spinach, and there was NO spinach) was terrible- it was actually sweet. Disgusting. The tomato sauce was nasty, full of oil, and lacking in taste completely. When I spoke to the waiter about the poor taste of the dish, he looked at me in confusion and still charged me full price even after I gave him my entire meal back! Terrible customer service! 3. My kids refused to eat their meatball spaghetti- complaining of no taste- I agree after tasting it. 4. My husband ordered the chicken parmigiana. It arrived drenched in some sort of sauce. He happened to turn it over only to discover the entire bottom of the chicken was burnt black!! Shocking. 5. My house salad - limp, not fresh. Lettuce was black in places. Probably out of a bag from Safeway. 6. I doubt the carpet in the place has been vacuumed since 1976. The ONLY redeeming feature was the Bruschetta- which consisted of chargrilled peppers out of a jar, olive tapenade, also out of a jar, and goats cheese - squeezed out of a pack. I could have done this at home. What a terrible dining experience. I will NEVER go back, and am instead hoping to survive the night without a terrible case of salmonella and/or dysentery.

    This is the best Italian food I have had in a very long time! We had a seafood lasagna as well as the ziti. The food was the right portion and not too heavy. The waitstaff are all friendly locals and were very attentive to how we enjoyed the meal. To top it off we had a tiramisu that was out of this world!

    the place isnt terrible, but im not sure why you'd ever go here over giampietro if you got the hankerin for eye-tal-yen in breck. ambience and food are both a bit boring and stale.

    My wife and I arrived in breckenridge on the 29th and decided to walk around main street and find a place for dinner. We found Michaels and found out it had at least an hour wait for a table. We met people at the bar who gave us their table when they left in only fifteen minutes. Bingo. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and it was definitely a good choice. The only bad part was the wasted girl at the bar near us who had jagerbombs while waiting for her table.

    If you want Italian there aren't a lot of options in Breckenridge, with that said Michael's is still an excellent choice. The brushetta and baked ziti are both excellent and the atmosphere is still really casual and relaxed.

    Highly recommend this place. Everyone I talked to recommends the white lasagna, but I'm not a seafood person. Instead I had a salad and the chicken parmigiana, delicious! The garlic bread that comes with the meal is ok.

    Visited again this year (was also here last year when visitiing Breck). Food was awesome, service was great! Lasagna was outstanding, garlic bread was warm fresh and tasty! Would definately recommend this as a stop!

    My baked ziti was really good. My husband's Chicken Parmasan was good as well. The kids each ordered a small pizza (which they could have easily shared one). The pizza was not very good, but homemade from what the server told us. Very casual dining. We waited about ten minutes or so to be seated, but we ordered a glass of wine each from the bar while we waited.

    The lasagna was great! Our friends had the baked ziti and I did not hear any complaints from them! The Caesar salad for two could have truly fed three or four people. Huge portion! Service was par. Not great or terrible. We would definitely go back.

    The service was really slow and the ambiance (lighting, table clothes, music, etc) left much to be desired. It was really loud and was not a very intimate setting for dinner. I ordered the Tortellini with Basil Cream, which was actually quite tasty, but took FOREVER to get it. We were served two measly pieces of bread with our salads, and then were asked if we wanted more bread to go with our entrees-- this just seemed kind of odd and cheap, since you would usually get a mostly full basket of bread with dinner instead of two pieces. While the entrees were decent (once we got them), I probably would not eat here again.

    Solid three stars. Baked Ziti is the bomb. I mean it's really good. This place is one-half block from Main St. up on Jefferson. Expect a casual atmosphere. The food is consistent and true to the American style Italian that everyone loves. Expect all the usual suspects on the menu and some pretty decent pizzas. All said and done two people with a bottle of wine will cost you $50 which in my book is great pricing for Breck.

    We have been to Michael's several times and have never been disappointed. The minestrone is some of the best. We have had had most of the menu items and maybe it isn't up to New Yuuk standards, but I've got news for you New Yuukkers, Breckenridge isn't in New Yuuk, thank God, if it was, I would never go there. But, Michael's is in Breckenridge, Colorado and they have great Italian food, great wait service and great management.

    So so. The food was a bit under-seasoned and a bit bland. Portions are a good size though and service was fine. The decor could use a face-lift. The banquet chairs push the ambiance toward a cafeteria, and are a weird contradiction to the all-black uniforms of the staff. Overall an average experience.

    Let me start by saying we visited during the off season. I would not recommend the lasagna as it was essentially a pile of cheese in marinara with little to no lasagna noodle present. The ziti was fine, but you could tell the ingredients weren't fresh. No good veggies and the salads were sub par. All in all, if you want to carbo load in Breck visit Michaels. If you want a nice dinner, I say pass.

    We were here off season (early November) and this place left a lot to be desired. The service was painfully slow even though it didnt seem that busy. They didnt bring us any bread for the table for a LONG time even though we all ordered entrees meanwhile my 2 year old kiddo was starving and freaking out the entire time. My chicken parmesan was completely burnt on one side to the point where i had to scrape off the burn part to be able to eat it. Ive never seen anything like that quite frankly. Chicken parm is usually a shoe in at an italian place. My husband said his pizza was mediocre at best. The red sauce was decent, i thought. I thought it was pricey for what it was but i guess thats what you get at a ski town. The waitress was nice enough and as i mentioned the sauce was OK so that would get this place the two stars instead of none. I would not go back there again though.

    Pasta...carbs, carbs, carbs I was craving from a long day of riding on the mountain. We found michaels which consistently came with good reviews. Loud, little character except for the obligatory red checkered table cloths is what you'll find for atmosphere. If your looking for intimate, a place to pop the question this ain't it. I'll be to the point: if pizza and basic pasta dishes are what you're looking for, Michaels does that all day long. Beyond that you'll probably be disappointed. In fact the pizzas are a notch above the pasta which are out of a box, not home made with gravy that's ok. It gets crowded so try to make a reservation.

    We called for a reservation and were informed that they are walk- in only. So we walk over from our condo. When we get into the restaurant I could see 2 families waiting to be seated, yet 3-4 empty tables in the back. Nevertheless, the host told us it'd be an hour long wait (with a take-it-or-leave-it attitude). We were hungry/tired after a long ski day and it was really cold outside so we decided to stay at the bar until our table was ready. The bottles of wine are very reasonably priced ($29 for a decent cab) so I ordered a bottle. On the menu, the vintage of the wine was 2010 but yet we got served a 2011. The bartender had no wine etiquette either; he opened the bottle without showing us the label and he did not serve a sampling portion first. Instead he poured these massive servings of the wine into the small goblets he had on hand. This was all more funny than annoying, especially because I am not a wine aficionado and especially because I was there to eat, but we do eat out a lot so we are accustomed to proper form by wait staff when serving wine. The hourlong wait ended up being 20 minutes. Everyone in our party ordered water at the bar, and they served it to us in plastic cups with straws. I felt like I was at Pizza Hut. The food was OK. I had the ziti, but I have had better. My girlfriend had the white lasagna and she loved it. Midway through the meal, I wanted more wine but the server informed me that they were out of the Cab that I had ordered at the bar. So I ask for a comparable bottle, but insisted on being able to sample it first. The server comes back and lets me know that they can only let me sample wine that they sold by the glass (presumably because they'd need to trash the bottle if I declined it). Classy. so I nix the idea, and order a beer instead. The decor of the restaurant is not that good; I usually expect Italian restaurants to have a worn feel, but the stacking chairs at the table and the paper napkins was a bit much especially when paying $19 for a plate of food. The server was very nice; I think she noticed how terrible the other factors were, and she got us a free dessert. If I were coming back and was in the mood for Italian, I'd probably opt for another place.

    The fettuccine Alfredo pasta And the minestrone soup were delicious!! 5 stars for both dishes! However, the other dishes we ordered (basil cream pasta, spinach artichoke dip and lasagna) were good but nothing extra special. ;)

    We've lived here 30 years and have never been to Michael's. It's a Saturday night during Spring Break and there are about a kajillion people in town. Most restaurants had a 45-90 minute wait. Michael's was full but we got to sit down within 10 minutes. It's bigger inside than it appears from the street... and it's just a bit off the main drag. Cute, casual Italian decor complete with red checkered tablecloths and typical red candle holders. We had Baked, Stuffed Shells w a meatball on the side; Orechiette w Fennel Sausage; and Roasted Chicken with Potatoes, followed by one piece of NY Style Cheesecake w raspberry sauce. The food arrived quickly, piping hot, just the right size portions, and the waiter was attentive but not annoying. Gotta say it was a refreshing surprise and we were happy that during this crazy time of year, the place was not loud, not over run w unruly kids, and we saw several local folks so if they're out during Spring Break... it must be worth it! Well be back.

    My only regret was not going here sooner. We wanted a place for a group of 7 without a 45 minute wait and we got a large table in the back (3 kids with us). This place is family friendly but the food is very good. I had the baked ziti and loved it; my wife had the white lasagna and it was really good (she only regrets she couldn't finish it). This place is in my top 5 for Breckenridge and we wish we had found it sooner.

    Food is amazing! You MUST try the baked ziti... it's great! Large portion though so i usually split it! The food comes out super quick every time and it has a great atmosphere in the restaurant! The patio area is nice as well! The only thing keeping this place from being 5 stars is the service is sometimes a little slow. With that being said I always make a stop here when I'm in Breck! Definitely a must!

    We've lived in Breckenridge for years, and only recently ventured into Michael's for the first - and last - time. Co-workers had spoken highly of it. I'm convinced that I must have misheard them. We were seated for more than 15 minutes before anyone showed up to offer water or take our orders. I opted for the chicken parm, my fiance ordered spaghetti with a double order of meatballs. About 25 minutes after sitting down, our server brought a basket of garlic bread - two slices of stale bread brushed with something other than butter that might've been in the vicinity of a clove of garlic at some point... but certainly didn't taste of garlic. My chicken parm was edible, but I'm pretty sure the sauce came straight from Sysco. It tasted like diluted canned tomatoes. The only redeeming quality of my fiance's dinner (which shared the same awful sauce) were the meatballs. The interior is pretty dingy - all of the chairs at our table were ripped, our tablecloth was dirty before we sat down, and I had to request new utensils, as the first set I received were crusted with someone else's dinner. We won't be back. There are much better options in town. Or at City Market.

    I have been twice and had the White Lasagna both times. It is so good. It is called white lasagna because it has a white cheesy creamy sauce instead of tomato, and it has shrimp, scallops and crab instead of ground beef. The service was a little slow but they were pretty busy on a Saturday night.

    My wife & I dined here back in early January. It's a little hard to find, but well worth the effort. It's not Super fancy, but the food & service are amazing. To be honest this place is absolutely perfect in a town like Breckenridge relaxed, warm & inviting. We will definitely eat here again during our next Breck visit.

    Definitely the best Italian in Breck--Giampietro's has them on the pizza but as far as entree's, drinks, ambiance and service go it's Michael's all the way. If you want a great casual, sit down experience with really good and reasonably priced food this is the spot. The staff is awesome and guys in the kitchen really know how to do it right. They have one of the best alfredo's I've found anywhere and the baked ziti is spot on. The place is very comfortable and unpretentious.

    We happened in here on a busy Saturday night in Breck when other restaurants on Main had an hour-plus wait. While we only had pepperoni and margherita pizzas, both were delicious. Highly recommended and a great find in a busy tourist town.

    Side of meatballs for 4 bucks was well worth it. Just slap them babies on some garlic bread and you got yourself a slider. The clam linguine came with tons of clams which infused the marinara sauce with great flavor. The seafood lasagna was very flavorful and was the perfect hearty dish after a day of hitting POW. The ambiance was laid back and with classic Italian American food on the menu at reasonable prices I would go back the next time I'm in Breck.

    Completely dissatisfied with this place. On vacation in Keystone we drove to Breckenridge to have a nice evening meal at Michael's. Their own advertising in the "where to dine" magazines is either misleading or a lie. Our experience began with walking into an almost completely empty dining rome with nobody at the front of the house. The only other patrons were a larger family with several small children, who had obviously been in a car for too long as they were loud and throwing things at each other. When finally a host came to us he decided to seat us right next to the rowdy kids and oblivious parents, instead of any of the other dozens of empty tables. When we requested a different table he got a little annoyed and asked where we wanted to sit. Since the ad we had read had highlighted their breathtaking patio dining view, we asked to sit out on the patio since it was a pleasant evening. He had to then go talk to who I'm assuming was the manager or owner at the bar. That took way longer than necessary, and we just stood there in dining room limbo. Finally he got the ok to seat us outside and led us to the patio. The "patio dining" was just two lawn tables with cheap plastic chairs outside. No view of the mountain side, but did have a view of the cars driving down main street. The next disappointment came when our waiter showed up. Now, I'm not one to judge somebody who may like to enjoy the occasional joint at home, but when you go to work at a restaurant high and reeking of marijuana, don't expect me to be pleased. I asked what he would recommend as the signature dish and he had no opinion on the matter. My dad, who is not a fan of muscles, asked for steamed clams instead for an appetizer. You'd thought he had asked an extremely outlandish request. When the food arrived, I had decided on the chicken parm., it was as if they had just heated a hungry man dinner and put it on a plate. The chicken was way overcooked and the breading was burnt and hard on top and the bottom was soggy, telling me it was just thawed out and cooked in a microwave. The pasta was gummy, and the sauce tasted like it was from a can and completely void of flavor. Ragu would have been better. My water glass remained empty through my entire meal even though I asked smokey the waiter twice for a refill. I finally had to flag down a waitress from inside to get more water. The good news is that after we had all finished our meal, my dads "appetizer" finally arrived. Guess they had to go get the clams out of the ocean... Long story short horrible staff, horrible decor, horrible management, horrible menu knowledge, horrible food, and all in all just a true sham. Never will return.

    Total ???show, they took orders for and then ran out of lasagna. Refused to refill any cups or bread baskets, made us grow full beards while we waited for the check and its turnaround. But our server Mike M doesn't give a flip because our party size means gratuity is fixed.

    Best Italian restaurant in all of Summit County. No doubt about it! I love sitting on their patio in the summer and looking at Peak 8. Its just as wonderful in the winter!
