I'm from the SF Bay Area, where it all began, and a Peet's snob of 32 years. Nobody makes coffee like Peet's. Wherever I travel I look for Peet's stores. We were visiting Boulder for a few days and were delighted to find one there and pleased beyond measure that the quality of the drinks was as good as we get back home. The pastries, as well, were excellent: very fresh and delicious. (BTW, Peet's beans are not brewed the same at every store. It was brewed weaker at Harvard Square and Lexington, MA stores, probably brewing to the tastes of non-Peet's drinkers.)

Wait staff is very nice. Nice outside seating. Inside seating could use a few more larger tables. Good meeting place in the 29th St Mall area. They have something like an iced raspberry tea which is amazing in the summer time. Some people complain of their coffee being bitter, but I've never had a problem with it. I like the fact that they re-brew all coffee frequently. Wish they were open later.

I work in the area and this place always has a happy and helpful staff. The seating is well laid out. Normally there are people but it never feels too crowded, and the staff handles orders well even during busy times. Prices are what you'd expect for this type of place, and its worth it to me. Pretty good drink selection and I find myself strangely addicted to the beverages named Javiva. Will be back here, as caffeine is vital and these guys do it right.

Super nice people, impossibly slow wifi, mediocre coffee. To expound on these points, the staff is really great and the atmosphere is like every other coffee chain. The wifi is too slow to be even remotely useful, though, so don't come here for Internet access. My iced mocha was decent enough. I liked that it wasn't too sweet but the flavors were just not fantastic.

The food and coffee are good and the staff is friendly. So that's good. However, the internet is consistently god-awful. Web pages load fine but I can't download a word document attached to an email without the connection slowing to a crawl. If you want to use the internet, go elsewhere.

The customer service is always amazing and the drinks are good. I just wish their internet wasn't so terrible, because I go to coffee shops to study and when I can't it defeats the whole visit. I couldn't even open my e-mail- it was that slow. ~First world problems~

It's not amazing. It's not terrible. The correct word would be adequate. It's sort of like a Starbucks for people that would find Starbucks too bright. The cappucino was decent. The baristas were kind. It's a moderately nice little place, but that in itself is sort of it's own downfall. It's not charmingly grungy, it's not horribly pretentious, it's just sort of sortof.

I have coffee places I love and places I hate. This Peets falls right in the middle. It does an adequate job on flavor and crema with decaf espresso shots but it just lacked a little kick. I get decaf Americanos every single day elsewhere and drink them plain so the espresso flavor has to really stand out. At least the decaf shots here are not sour tasting as in so many small independent coffee shops. I am not used to finding grounds in the bottom of my Americano from my regular place though I did here today. And I am used to getting 3 shots in a 16 oz drink, not two as Peets makes Americanos so I just got two in a twelve oz cup which made for a better comparison. But the staff was friendly, answered my questions about the number of shots in each size and served me quickly. Also, it is one of the nicest looking big stores in Boulder. Lots of light, lots of tables and very clean.

Really? There is one keystone menu item that every coffee store on the planet must get right and that is espresso. I have every right to judge the entire enterprise (and I do) by this one item. The one thing espresso absolutely must not be is bitter. It can be all sorts of other things, like strong, creamy or caramel-y or whatever ... but bitter ruins the whole thing. Yep, "bitter" is what I experienced in yet one more attempt for me to move away from the corporate monstrosity we all know. I wanted at least to give the somewhat smaller corporate monstrosity, Peet's, a shot. So sad to say but the espresso obtained from Those Other Guys is always - always - perfect. Oh, yes: the double espresso at Peet's costs a full $0.50 more (after tax) then That Other Place.

Super friendly staff. There's a regular cashier there who's just as nice as pie. Every time. Without fail. He deserves a raise. I think his tag says "Captain" or something? I'm not a coffee connoisseur, so, I won't/can't comment on that.

Everything you want- great coffee, great service, knowledgeable staff, good pastries, great location, and a nice view of the mountains! A few years ago, the Starbucks single origin whole bean coffee menu dramatically constricted. Gone was my favorite, Arabian Mocha Sanani (an intensely rich, winey/berry flavor, with a beautiful cocoa finish, created by growing in harsh, primitive conditions, on 2200 meter terraces in the mountains of Yemen, baking in the sunlight, processed in the same way it was 800 years ago, by being crushed with traditional millstones, and then, despite terrorism threats and political unrest, miraculously traveling through the port of Mocha, the oldest coffee export port in the world, all the way to my mug), and practically everything else I really liked (Arabian Mocha Java, Sulawesi). Coffee is important to me, and to say that I was bummed was an understatement. However, luckily, that caused me to find Peets. Peets has stayed true to their roots, continuing to offer the finest single origin specialty coffees that the world has to offer. Equally important, they have a great roast- like Starbucks (unless you are drinking their light roast coffees), they roast the beans longer, to produce a liquor which is darker, and has a richer, more complex, full bodied, and sweeter flavor (removing the sourness associated with a lighter roast). Like Starbucks, their espresso has a delicious caramely sweetness. So, now, I drive 30 minutes to buy Sanani from Peets. And I feel happy about it. Why? This is a great location. Peets is a little like the Starbucks of old- they still have bean counters- that is, you can still hear the sound of them scooping beans, see drawers of glimmering coffee beans covered in their beautiful oils, and the place still smells of ground coffee. Their pastries (scones and, my favorite, the morning bun- yum!) are much better than the other corporate coffee chains as well! Mick, the manager, and his team are just as passionate about coffee as I am. He clearly loves his job- loves teaching, tasting, and sampling. He is very knowledgeable about the coffee and their brewing equipment, and passionate about providing great customer service to his guests! I always receive friendly service, and enjoy a great cup of premium coffee in a clean, beautiful setting (great view of the Flatirons!). I also love that they put some frothy foam in their iced drinks! You can tell that the employee's have a lot of ownership in this location- they perform music there, come to concerts on their time off, and use their unique talents to improve the guest experience- I love the magnificent tip artwork done by one of their employees (when you put your tip in the bin, you get to cast a vote between two polling options). It creates a strong sense of community. What caused me to review them? The amazing service I received today. Right before the holidays, my husband and I went in and purchased a pound of Sanani from Mick and some drinks. We forgot to pick up the pound of beans before we left. When we got home from our holiday vacation, we discovered that we had no coffee in our house and realized our error. This morning, we returned to Peets to buy another pound, but the store credited us the pound we forgot a week ago- no receipt, no arduous return process! When was the last time you got service like that?

By far the darkest and most flavorful coffee in Boulder. It gets busy in this spot as there are few tables, but if you are looking to grab a super dark and flavorful brew with wheels, this is the place.

I absolutely love Peets! Sometimes it is a little crowded but that is only because it is amazing coffee and tea, and the people who work here are stellar. They knew their costumers and always welcome you with a warm smile. They always have awesome recommendations if you are looking for something new to try! It has the atmosphere of a popular local mom and pop shop even if it is a chain. Whether you are a student or just someone who needs a nice happy cheerful place to get some work done I recommend Peets. I don't drink coffee so i have to go to places that have a good selection of tea and Peets is the spot!!!!

When your mission involves wifi and outlets, check both before ordering. Peet's has limited outlets and today, I hope only today, intermittent slow wireless. I've over at another place as I write this with available outlets and much better wifi. I waited for my situation to improve, but it did not, so I left my untouched tea.

I love my morning stops at Peet's. While I try not to make it a habit, there is nothing better than walking into this shop on a cold winter morning to be hit smack in the face with the smell of fresh coffee! The staff is always friendly and eager to offer a suggestion or two (or three). My only complaint is that the store is small...and often they run out of room for patrons to sit and relax! Hardly something they can control, though...

3.5 stars. Coffee and tea are very good. Staff is great. Seating? what seating? Place is usually full, and to get a seat near the one of the two outlets in the whole place, just about impossible. No outlets outside either. It was my impression that a coffee shop should act like a third space/place to work, otherwise it should just be a drive-through or stand.

Peet's serves extremely dark drip coffee, but strong, tasty espresso drinks. They occasionally have customer appreciation days in which they serve free coffee or tea. Aren't they owned by Starbucks?

Great coffee, really bad service. What is it with Boulder coffee shops lately? Full of snotty 20 somethings behind the counter. Maybe they're pissed that business degree is only getting them minimum wage. Whatever it is, please guys... stop taking the job if you don't want to do the work.

As a HS student in Davis my family drank Peet's on the way to school EVERY morning. In college, I used to live in Berkeley about 5 blocks from the original Peet's. It was my Sunday morning ritual. I love Peet's and it's an essential part of my coffee world, a little bit of home in a toasty cup. Peet's always has these great dark marble countertops, great dark brewed espresso, rustic wood and comfortable chairs and tables and a super friendly staff. I am particularly partial to their french roast blend and their fancy Jasmine tea. Love it.

Oh man, it's been a while since I've been THIS upset about a place. I stopped by there, hoping to grab a quick cup of tea and a snack on the way to work. There were 3 people working the counter and one woman ahead of me, ordering some bulk coffee. I ended up waiting for 10 minutes for my order to be taken (with one person ahead of me...), while the baristas kept trading jobs ("How about you pour the coffee beans now?", 30 seconds later "It's your turn to do this.") The tea they served me was good. The cookie was completely dry. Not even just somewhat stale, it was completely dried through. Like, I had to soak it in the tea to be able to eat it. I didn't have the time to point it out to the baristas, so I just left. Never again.

The coffee experience at a Peet's is superior to so many other coffee purveyors. Peet's espresso machines are top end - La Marzocco lamarzocco.com machines, the Ferrari of espresso machines. Peet's quality control is off the charts for coffee beans, bakery items and products. It would be really fun to see the Pepsi Challenge happen between Peet's and Starbucks, I know Peet's would win, but that's not what they are about. I wish their outdoor patio was more inviting here, if it was, they would have earned their 5th star.

Yeah, I'm a fan of Peet's high quality and consistency across their chain. I was a big fan of Peet's when I lived in the Bay Area. The Boulder version doesn't disappoint and is conveniently located in the 29th Street Mall if you are stuck shopping. The baristas are solid and friendly. Therefore, you can't go wrong here. Unfortunately for Peet's, there are many other local choices nearby that offer better coffee and experience. But that hasn't deterred me from occasionally dropping by.

After my third trip to Peet's in five days, I've decided to write a review about my wonderful experiences. First off, I love Peet's coffee, even when I didn't live near one, I frequently bought it as the store to make at home. The staff is always super nice and helpful, and it's not pretentious like a lot of the other coffee shops in the area. In the almost two hours I spent there today, I saw everyone from high school girls, to business men conducting meetings. I also saw an elderly couple who I assume were regulars since the girl behind the counter had their order memorized. There's a place for everyone at Peet's, and the coffee is top notch, so why would you go anywhere else?

Despite being a chain, this place is great! Staff feel like they are all owners, dedicated to great customer service and even better drinks! I'm not a Coffee drinker, but I can say the Tea here is first class! My favs, English Breakfast, Yi Kwan Yin (ask for cold pot with 2 ice cubes for 4 minutes), Jasmine Pearls (ask for cold pot 3 ice cubes for 4.5 minutes.)

We love Peet's. Have loved them since we lived in the Bay Area. If you're afraid of dark roasts, go elsewhere, but otherwise they have simply the best beans and brews. And the Peet's in Boulder is the best. Same friendly employees since it opened--find me another shop in town that can say that. And they are friendly, goofy, pleasant, they'll remember your name. Not the grim, aging hipster disdain you get at Tee & Cakes or Brewing Market downtown, but just fun, unpretentious people who seem to enjoy their work and each other. It's probably the only chain I'll ever go to--I make a practice of seeking out small, independent businesses. But I never hesitate to go to the Boulder Peet's. It's the best. Oh, and to the "aren't they owned by Starbucks?" people here? Yes, of course they are, and by Enron and by Chase and Xcel. Now go back to Jamba Juice and be quiet.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. I mostly go in to buy coffee and filters for home brewing. Coffee bean price is way better here than buying in a grocery store, it is way fresher, and you get a complimentary cup of coffee to boot. Recycle your coffee bag here, and save a little more on each purchase. I'm not a fan of all the syrupy, milky drinks, so I can't really comment on the quality there. I like my coffee dark roasted and black, and Peets is the best we have for that.

Peet's was the original "Starbucks"; it's the company Howard Shultz came from. The "original" Peet's is a block and a half from where I lived in Berkeley. In contrast to the Berkeley location, this is spacious and lacking the dogs tied up outside, ready to sniff YOUR hindquarters as you enter. What I like about Peets, not being a coffee drinker, is their Hot Chocolate is made with milk, not water. The atmosphere is menagerie-like with windows on three sides...be careful picking your nose while reading the paper. Ample parking on both sides. The servers are...eclectic, to say the least. But yes, this is the charm or Peet's. There are snacks and goodies in the display cases and ScharfenBarger Chocolate, another Berkeley product. Might be a little more pricey, but if you cared about that, wouldn't you be brewing your own coffee and not rolling into a shop in the mall? I also hear that donut shops make coffee, or a Circle K?? Peet's is a small coffee shop that is "big-time", but hasn't lost the small feel. A lovely place to go.

I am so sick and tired of the "cool" towns getting all the good stuff! So what, you have to be a big city, like Denver, or A People's Republic to get a Peets? Humph! My favorite coffee joint by far, and I can't roll out of bed in the morning, throw on my jeans, hoodie and sunglasses and grab my joe in a mere 10 minutes. Like I'm going to intentionally DRIVE at least 12 miles when I'm in that mode. I love, love, love Peets- smooth, never bitter or burnt, AND they have my beloved heavy whip (which they steam for me, even without me asking!). I do so wish they'd get their suprior-coffee-ass to my hood.

Peet's Coffee & Tea is a new addition to Boulder... a part of the new Twenty Ninth Street Mall. It is a small shop with a lot of tea that you can purchase, in addition to coffee. Their decaf, skinny carmel lattes are very tasty, and come served up extra hot... which I like... and not too expensive (yet more than, say, Starbucks). Chances are, your drink will be served up by someone with multiple facial piercings, and maybe a "wacky and unusual" hairstyle or color. This is something fun that keeps me interested. On the downside, their selection of pastries is quite pricey... over $3 for a mini lemon bundt cake! Delicious, but not enough of it for the money. This little shop has a lot of empty floor space, but not enough tables / counter space for those of us who would like to sit down and enjoy our drink of choice. I find the music is annoying, and on the weekends, there are quite a few "families" that come in to hang out for a bit... complete with children. Not the atmosphere that I look forward to when I go to grab a decaf.

The staff is always super friendly. The traditional capp, is actually what its supposed to be. The comfortable sitting areas are lacking and the setup is a little odd. It's a great place to get away from students, more of an adult coffee shop.

So glad that there are alternatives to the bean burning bums at 'Fourbucks' Whilst the coffee may not be any cheaper, still around $4 for a large cup, the quality (unless you like burnt beans) is far superior. Long live Peet's and Seattle's Best
