The servers can be a little snooty but we've been here twice and would definitely go again. The trout appetizer was amazing! Grilled rib eye was good. I think we had trout the first time we went, but it's not currently on the menu so I may be mistaken (It was delicious though!)

My husband and I had lunch here and it was delicious. I really liked this french bistro. both interior and exterior is nice. It's scattered with different cute things. The famous tomato soup in puff pastry is so good and even better with their salad. My husband enjoyed his rib eye steak. It was cooked to perfection. I'm keeping this restaurant to my list. Great french cuisine and casual ambiance.

Authentic country French. I felt like I was back visiting southern France chateau county region. Wish I drafted my review sooner cause I can't. Remember specifics. But the food, interior decor and waitress really took you on location.

Bring 7 friends, order the entire menu (or at least 25%), and tuck into an amazing meal of french classics. I guarantee you will leave happy. After dinner - take a walk up to the French Laundry garden and back.

ORDER CORRECTLY!! You might have a bad experience if you don't. For example, I ordered the mac and cheese with ham, which might have been good if it weren't for two things. First, it seemed like there was a little too much ham, which might not bother everyone, although I wasn't very fond of it. Also, it was cooked in a metal dish (which seemed like not a very good one), and some parts of the mac and cheese had a disgusting metallic taste. However, the tomato soup and puff pastry was AMAZING. By far the best tomato soup I've ever had. The lemon meringue tart would've been good, although it had Italian meringue (kind of funny for a French restaurant), and it also had a funny flavor hard-to-describe, kind of like paint. The tomato soup and the ice cream with chocolate sauce turned out to be the best things. Again, you need to know how and what to order, and it should be better for you.

There aren't enough stars to rate this one properly! I have spent several 9 to 12 month visits in France, so I know the menu compares well to the French versions of the dishes. The beet, goat cheese, and orange salad is original and great. I told the waiter I couldn't drink because I had to drive too far. He offered me HALF a glass of wine, and only charged half price. Every bit of the service was just as amazing as this detail. The outdoor patio is luscious!

Their food is fantastic. I came here based one a friend's recommendation. The food is awesome. It's easy to get a table comparing to French Laundry.

Great restaurant, good food, excellent service without the stuffiness of most Yountville restaurants. It's a hidden gem and definitely worth a try!

simply Great Everything about our lunch yesterday was perfect. We particularly liked our waiter who helped enormously with our choices. Delicious lentils with foie gras and pork belly to die for ( until idiotic politically and philosophically bankrupt californians ban it ) also the Smelt were YUMMIE, it's a shame though to think that the farmers of the central valley are less important than these rather unremarkable fish-etts. The wine was perfect the setting very relaxed and cordial. It's not cheap but it's sooooo well worth it.

This is the best choice for dinner during your Napa trip and is also affordable. Deserving of making the Bib Gourmand list, the food is divine and there is a wide variety. The steak tartare and veal shank melt in your mouth. The sole meunière was delicious as well.

This restaurant was a nice place to take a date, however due to size of their portions, it's better to bring more people so that you can share and try everything. There are indoor and outdoor seating. The service staff was very nice. However, they spoke too fast when trying to explain the menu. The best item was their Langue d' Agneau (lamb tongue). The boeuf bourguignon was not so good. The beef was too dry. French onion soup was good. Price is a little high, but then again it is Yountville.

We kinda liked it. Like French "Wash" but not so chic. Filet au Poivre. Muah!

Classic stick to your ribs French cuisine. None of those carefully constructed architectural plates. Rather, the great war horses of French cooking like coq au vin, cassoulet, entrecôte, etc. Comparable if not superior to what you will find in the Loire or Lyon. Very large helpings. Serviceable wine list and friendly staff. Not pretentious in the least.

My second time here and I absolutely love it. First, I love french inspired foods. This place has some great dishes. So far two times here and I've tried 3-5 dishes. I will try all the plates within the year as I have a family who loves to eat especially in the Napa Valley. Their service is great and the drinks are mixed really well. I love their Pastis mixers usually before having dinner. A must go if you're in the valley.

This place was the first joint I had French food at and it did not disappoint. Came here on a Thursday evening and sat at the bar. I was serviced immediately and ordered a nice stiff pinot noir. Ordered the ever famous tomato soup. Get this! It came out piping hot which warmed me up since it was about 40 degrees outside. The puff pastry was perfectly flaky and buttery. The soup was seasoned correctly. Ordered the coq au vin for my entree. Having never had this dish before, I can't compare it to anything else. It was rich and well, rich. Thank goodness the server recommended the egg noodles to accompany it as the noodles soaked up the rich sauce. Would definitely return!

Awesome specials. Bone marrow app and pigs feet entree. Wife had foire gras, and beef stew. This stuff all sounds more appetizing in French. Awesome but I am subtracting one star for being over salted (IMO). Service is prompt but well paced. Didn't like our first table, moved us with a cheerful attitude, which is the epitome good service. Go, you will love it.

Restaurant's a monument. Don't go there too much, the menu is kinda stable. Fit's with Napa as California's largest tourist attraction (#2 is Disneyland) B.J. does a good job as France-Land. Food is great. Service is Great. Hospitality treats you like a real Joe. Late hours. So what's wrong with this place? It's just not my everyday hangout, but I love taking friends from out of town.

We enjoyed a fantastic meal yesterday at Jeanty. Sit outside if weather permits. It is pricey but so is everything in the Napa valley. The rabbit pate was tasteless, but they took it off our check when I commented on that. I had the pepper steak and wife had the petrale. Both were outstanding. Tomato soup in a puffed pastry was really really really good. We would go there again.

delicious. I started with the escargot which was simmered in a yummy butter herb sauce. I then moved onto the mussels for my entree. The mussels were siimmered in pinot noir sauce. The mussles were tender not chewy -- perfectly cooked. I ended my lunch with a cheese and fruit platter paired with a pinot noir. A yummy ending to a delicious lunch. I highly recommend Bistro Jeanty. The service was great, he food delicious and the atmosphere comfortable & casual.

Everything here tastes pretty good, but in good Napa fashion it is pretty pricey. To Get: Tomato soup with pastry top. Rissotto - Just a good creamy mushroom risotto Okay: Beet Salad - Meager, but colorful plating with a variety of beets. Ribeye Steak - Cooked well, but the cut of meat was more stringy fat that i would expect.

we got lucky and called the morning of and got a lunch seating. their signature TOMATO PUFF PASTRY SOUP is THE BEST and a MUST ORDER. that with a side of fresh BEET SALAD was the perfect combo. hubby ordered the CHANTERELLE MUSHROOM PASTA, BUTTER LETTUCE SALAD and FRITES...all were very delicious and tasted really fresh. you gotta expect great food in wine country and they delivered! napa too far? just go to their sister restaurant jeanty at jack's (similar menu)!

Oh, yes. Definitely the best tomato creme soup I've ever had. The puff pastry on top was the perfect compliment to the soup. Their roasted bone marrow was soooo good. Their veal kidneys were ok, not too much into eating them semi-raw. The steak tartar was quite tasty too. We sat outside, so most of the time, we were hovered by flies coming in at all angles... that pretty much killed my appetite.

Very poor service that you would never expect from a place like this. We were rushed with food and they continually served my husband before me. We started with escargot and it was good. We then ordered smoked salmon carpaccio which was okay and had a lot of olive oil on it. I had the heirloom tomato salad which was one of the highlighted dishes of the night. It lacked flavor and was swimming in balsamic. My husband had the rabbit and it was very good. I also ordered Brussels and they were good but a little over cooked. Overall not a pleasant experience and we won't be back.

If you want to experience perfect steps of service, this is it. We had the butter head lettuce salad which was simple but wonderful. My mother had black cod Provençal which was perfectly executed. I had the oh so famous tomato soup and it lived up to its reputation. I then had the sole which was cooked perfectly but the caper butter sauce was a bit MIA and i found myself serving around the plate for more. We ended with homemade run raisin ice cream -excellent and a chocolate creme brûlée in which I was a bit disappointed in the vanilla custard since it was a bit pasty. Our server Rick was perfection.

A great place for that special meal. If you know the difference between food made by a culinary artist and big helpings that are supposed to make a restaurant better, you will love this place. Not inexpensive, but rewarding.

This place is great! They were able to get us a seat on a busy Friday with no reservation. The food was AMAZING. Everything I had was delicious. "Complaints" The menu looked so good to took me way too long to figure out what I wanted I was too full for dessert! I will defiantly go here again and highly recommend it to everyone. P.S Try the "La Vie En Rose" Cocktail. FANTSTIC

It has been several years since I ate at Bistro Jeanty. I had both a dinner one evening, and the last meal of the trip to Yountville: lunch. And that lunch has stuck with me for years. All I had was the simple coq au vin with a nice glass of burgundy. I have not had coq au vin to rival it since (except for the other evening. Where was that? Jeanty at Jacks. Of course that makes sense!) Coq au vin and steak frite have become my measuring staffs for French Bistros. And, I have yet to have any place top Philippe Jeanty's coq au vin. In Yountville? Definitely make a stop here. Too far to go, you say? Then go to Jeanty at Jacks( yelp.com/biz/r83KJyViMrD… ). Collect them all!

Bistro Jeanty is a must if you are in Yountville. The service was excellent and well choreographed, the food delicious, and very French. The motif is superb and pleasing. I recommend: * Tomato soup in puff pastry * Petrale sole fillet, mashed potatoes lemon-caper butter sauce * Beef bourguignon (a special menu item) This, along with Solbar, is one of two favorite Napa Valley restaurants. Bravo!

I came here on a scorching hot summer day, and ordered the tomato soup in puff pastry. It was so hearty, creamy, and delicious. It was a nice balance to the smoke salmon I ate as well. I probably could have done without the smoked salmon as the soup was more than enough to get me full (and I shared with someone as well). We sat outside. One weird thing that happened was that the water turned sour (literally), and when he came to refill our glasses and my friends tasted it, they spit it out and said they just drank something that tasted like sulfur. We immediately notified the staff so they would not serve the water to anyone else. Other than that, nice experience!

Stopped for lunch after picking up wine. It had been about a year since we've been here, but they are still as good as ever. Our server - Beth - was terrific; attentive without being intrusive and very polite and friendly. The fries are outstanding, the steak was perfectly done and my wife's Bouef Bourgonion (spelling is probably wrong) was outstanding according to her. We miss the SF location, but this is a destination when we are up this way.

This is consistently my favorite restaurant in the valley, so so delicious! When you get off the highway, drive right passed the French Laundry and straight on to the Bistro for a great meal! The tomato soup is always a favorite, how can you go wrong when you cover it in puff pastry?? Their specials are amazing too, once I had rabbit there that was totally to die for. If you're feeling in the mood for a beautiful cheese explosion, I recommend the quiche, alway wonderful. I can't say enough good things about them, love the look, love the community table, love the food, go, and go soon!

I love this quaint little French bistro. They have always treated me well and the food is excellent from the appetizers to the main courses. I have to have the tomato soup in puff pastry which is more like cream that a tomato may have briefly fallen into. Still, it's good, especially on a chilly night. Other favorite appetizers include the smoked salmon carpaccio, duck and goat cheese pate, escargots in garlic butter, and some others. As for main courses, I love the cassoulet and coq au vin especially during the winter months because they're hearty and warming country dishes. I also very much like the sole with mashed potatoes and lemon caper butter, rib eye steak, and tournedo with mushroom cream. Talking about this place makes me want to dine there tonight. Maybe this weekend.

SO TASTY. We started off with the tomato soup, which was heaven.. and I had the coq au vin which was more than I could eat and quite delicious. Everyone else at the party seemed to really enjoy what they were eating.. only downside is that my boyfriend and dad both got sick later that night.. and the only thing we could attribute it to was that they both ordered the same dinner plate.. I HOPE THAT'S NOT WHAT GOT THEM SICK!! So so so tasty.

I really like this little French bistro very much when we visited with a few friends. I love French food and make a lot at home, but the cream of tomato soup with puff pastry crust was to die for. I had the sole meuniere, which was divine, but my husband did not love the mussels. I thought they were OK. Overall I can't wait to go again! It reminds me so of Paris!

After eating at thousands of restaurants all over the world the impact this great unpretentious place made on me has caused me to write a glowing review about it. From the welcome at the front desk to the boot we should have gotten out the door the service was great. We drank way too much to be nice but the staff at Bistro Jeanty couldn't have been nicer. The food is everything you will expect but more. It aims to showcase a few signature dishes ans it does so with ease and grace. These people have it going on and would be a top splash in any major city in the world. Eat anything on the menu you wont be disappointed.

We heard about Bistro Jeanty from a Napa local. After reading all of the rave reviews, we made sure to make reservations for dinner during our weekend getaway in Napa. We were warmly greeted at the door and promptly seated even though we were 30 minutes early. We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. The last thing we wanted to do was go eat at a pretentious restaurant, but that was not the case. The decor was comfortable, charming and very inviting. Our server, Lonnie, was amazing. He was very attentive, answered all of our questions, and was a delight. Now to the food: The tomato soup is just as amazing as everyone says. My fiance hates tomato soup, and he couldn't stop eating mine!!! It is to die for.... I ordered the beef stew entree and he ordered the lamb cheek gemelli pasta special. They were both phenomenal. We cleaned our plates. Lonnie suggested we get the chocolate mousse creme brulee for desert. We took his advice and devoured the whole thing in about 20 seconds. The bus boy came by immediately and made a joke that it was the fastest he had ever seen anyone eat it. Long story short, we loved it. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Napa.

I went last night with 3 friends. We loved the bread, French Onion Soup, Coq Au Vin, Pork Shoulder with Butternut Squash & Brussel sprouts, Beef Stew, and Bread Pudding. I can't imagine the work and expertise to build such savory rich flavors. The simple salad was a bit too plain for me. The service was attentive. The decor transported us to the French countryside. Two friends that previously thought that Bouchon was the best French bistro now say that Jeanty has even better food. I agree. I think the ambiance is more romantic and quiet, too. Everything was excellent. We had oysters, 2 first courses, 4 entrees, 2 desserts and corkage on 1 wine. The bill was about $175 for 4, which we thought was reasonable for the quality of food and experience.

Worth the review.... albeit my GF's family knows the owner/chef.... this restaurant is 5 stars for quality, service, atmosphere and location I had the bone marrow as an appetizer and it was the best i'd ever enjoyed. The mussels for an entree were perfectly prepared, in a delish white wine and shallot broth (mopping that up with crusty bread could have been a meal in itself)... Also tried the duck liver pate...but hated it. BUT... hating something doesnt make a restaurant bad...it expands your taste and allows you to develop as a foodie.... I REPEAT..HATING SOMETHING IS NOT A BAD THING!!! in fact i love this restaurant more, knowing that pate, as well prepared as possible, didn't turn me on to liver. If you want to go, eat light and not break your bank...try the tomato soup, it is amazing.
