One of my top 5 favorite places to get a quesadilla...because let's face it, I'm a quesadilla lover. Fills you up and is cheesy, crispy, topped with guac, sour cream and some salsa. Mmmm. Not too bad on price either

Jim & Robs is very close to where I live yet in the almost three years I've lived here I've been twice. I find the food mediocre at best, and lacking flavor. The prices are on the higher side for a walk up style food establishment. This is a favorite of many of my Ojai friends, so I know it must not be all bad. I got the taquitos, they were chock full of beans which I believe are homemade but lack any real flavor to wow my tastebuds. I've also gotten a hamburger while not bad, the price was expensive in my opinion. The location is great on a sunny day. Not the best review, but an honest one.

Service is fast and friendly. Burritos are on point(I recommend the pollo asado) breakfast included. Homemade salsas are the reason I keep coming back. The verde offers the most balance but chipotle is probably my fave. The price is right and to top it all off, they have a loyalty program which leads to free burritos!!!

Well I was very surprised at this place... There are only 3 things a fast-food Mexican joint like this needs to be successful... Good beans, good rice and an awesome sauce and they have them all!! I totally thought this place was going to like a bad version of Baja Fresh but once I bit into that burrito, I was hooked! I always test these place with the standard asada burrito challenge. And let me tell you, the asada is very tasty and doesn't look like processed dog food like the all "famous" Corrales or Casa de Craporia :X My back to back trips only tested their burrito because I liked it so much but I figured if they got the burrito right then I'm sure they have to have other good food :) My only gripe was with the service, the girl taking orders seems like she hates her job, basically the personality of a shoe. I can put up with that as long as they keep the food taste consistency the way it is.

Food is OK... But don't call in !!!! They are rude, put you on hold for 15-20 minutes,,, bang pots and pans with a lot of heavy breathing. Since they don't LISTEN ...and Just say in one word 'cniputuonhold... and then drop it on the counter you can't even place a quick order for pickup! I was driving and finally hung up and tried again....Nope ... same result...I'll skip it. I don't need to spend $ 9.00 plus for a hamburger and fries .. not with that attitude!

This has been a weekly visit for me ever since moving one street over a year ago. Decent quality food, a varied menu that stands out among Mexican fast food, and most importantly a solid range of salsas. Chips are always fresh and crispy, although on the thicker side (good for the nachos!). As others have mentioned, the Ojai location (different ownership) is far superior from freshness, quality (organic items), and staff management. The biggest downside to the Ventura location is a constant fluctuating staff, who tend to be very young and definitely not stoked on customer satisfaction. Most recently, a young guy started who doesn't answer the phone. Im not sure how management can overlook something like that, as I'm sure a lot of business is lost. One of the great things I used to love about the place is the convenience factor of picking up takeout via phone order. I would give 4 stars for food, but unfortunately management gets it a two star rating. If owners are reading this please invest a little more in your staff (and phone system). Thank you!

Went there today ordered carne tacos and chicken tacos. With onion rings. Carne was very dry. Chicken ok. What really bothered me was the onion rings they were burnt the oil had to be black meaning hadn't been changed or cleaned. This place needs a Heath inspection. Food is really bad. Got a little sick too

In my opinion... The best breakfast burrito I have found in Ventura (yes, including corrales). The way Jim and Robs cooks their beans far surpasses other burrito joints, and I love their breakfast potatoes! And the best part is that you can order breakfast all day! I always call in and pick up my burrito to go, and it rarely takes more than ten to fifteen minutes. However, sometimes it takes awhile for them to pick up the phone, which can slow things down.

I've been eating here for a while and the quality seems to be going downhill. I ordered a simple taco salad with ground beef (one of the choices). When I arrived at work 5 minutes later and opened the container, found more of a "Taco Soup" inside. There was a pile of ground beef on top and underneath a pile of wilted salad and a puddle of fat-grease-juices. Apparently, no one took the time to drain the beef, before topping the salad with it. Small details make a huge difference! I don't think I'll be eating there again.... Just seems to be getting progressively worse.

Had a breakfast burrito (potatoes, cheese, salsa, and guacamole) at Jim and Rob's over the weekend. Everything was delicious and SO FRESH. The potatoes were red skin potatoes and seasoned perfectly. Can't wait to go back again.

The Tri-Tip Burrito is the best I've found in Ventura County mostly take out fast & easy there is a side patio for sit down eaters

  • James P.

I've been coming here for years. I love this place. It's Americanized Mexican food. The staff is friendly. The smell wonderful under it's new management it's retained most of its quality. My favorite thing is their veggie burrito with fresh ingredients. Also their nachos are out of control! Heaping helpings of lettuce, beans, sour cream and fresh salsa! Yum... if your visiting Ventura give Fresh Grill a try!

  • Jennifer R.

The service seems to be going downhill. We live nearby and go there often, we usually call in our order so it's ready when we get there. But lately nobody answers the phone, it's becoming a real problem. When you walk over there it's not because they're busy, the young kid working there is reading a comic book. It seem they could use some management upgrades. The Jim and Robs in Ojai is always so clean and pleasant with excellent customer service, I wish this one could be the same.

The first time that I had this place I was in love. I got a bacon breakfast burrito and it was perfect. When I went back a couple weekends ago I went up to the window and ordered. It took about 10 minutes to get my order. I ordered a sausage burrito and my boyfriend got a bacon burrito. I would definitely try the Chorizo to see if it's good but our burritos had a ton of potato and it lacked flavor.

I found this place on accident while stopping to get coffee next door during a long drive home. Realizing that I was not only under caffeinated, but also starving I decided to order a vegetarian burrito. The burrito came out in a very timely fashion. When I receive my burrito I was surprise, because it was huge for just $6. Because it was gigantic and the burrito wrapping left something to be desired , I attacked it with my fork and knife. It was absolutely delicious.

I'm a taco fanatic! I love traditional dishes with a modern spin what some may call fusion food! The menu is awesome because even for someone not interested in tacos there is enough variety to make it worth the trip. I tried my usual favorite tacos pastor. It was a very generous portion considering most restaurants serve four small tacos versus two large ....the chips and salsa portion was also generous despite my prior reservations towards the quantity and price relation ... The only thing I didn't like was the habanero mango salsa. The delayed kick was awesome but it reminded me of a jelly or something the flavoring was just odd. Chipotle was also spicy but too chili-ey for lack of a better word but I mixed some of the tapatio and it was delicious! Definitely a necessary stop along Main Street!

  • John B.

Got the breakfast burrito. Very good, cheap, and fast ordering from the window. Perfect if you like hassle free.

  • Saundra J.

No longer Jim & Rob's - but the good news is the menu hasn't changed under new management. I've come here a few times. It's a good spot for a quick lunch. Mexican diner food. All the standard fare one can expect i.e. tacos, burritos, burgers and fries. I haven't ordered it since new management but Tracey's Salad w/Chicken is my favorite. BOTTOM LINE: Good spot for lunch or an early dinner. Affordable and quick. Outdoor seating only.

    (3)
  • Kelly H.

Meh. The breakfast burrito had a large amount of potatoes and a decent amount of bacon, but was sorely lacking eggs. Of the meat for the tacos, al pastor was awesome. Super flavorful. The carne asada and carnitas had essentially no flavor. Do they make their own salsas? I have no idea. Mild was pretty yummy and refreshing, medium had no heat whatsoever, whereas the hot was pretty damn hot. So I need a middle of the road option here, an actual medium spiced salsa. I'll be back to try other things, but it won't be my first choice for food.

  • Jack F.

I drive by this place all the time, but hadn't stopped in for a meal until yesterday. After drooling over the menu, I ordered the "Relleno Burrito" ($6) for lunch. This burrito consisted of a grilled pasilla chile stuffed with melted cheese, black beans, Mexican rice, onions, and cilantro. I added the red chipotle salsa which is a perfectly spicy addition to the meal. It tasted good, the ingredients fresh, and it wasn't so large that I got the dreaded food coma. I'll be back to try more menu options.

  • Miles W.

Sweet deals on their text service plus your 10th burrito/ burger etc is free. Never had a bad meal here Nd its reasonably priced, service is friendly and great value for $$. Only negative thing I can say is their restroom isn't all that clean.

    (5)
  • Elaina V.

I don't like it at all. Ventura is a place with some amazing authentic Mexican food. My burrito was plain, flavorless, lacked seasoning, and I didn't event want to eat it. The pico and avocado were not at all fresh. Meh

    (1)
  • David J.

Food is terrible. asked for no rice, got a rice burrito. Food is fresh and bland, make their money by selling lettuce and rice burritos/tacos. Don't wast your money

    (1)
  • Rochelle T.

This place is amazing. Good is great-super fresh and they have great prices!!!! The chicken chimichanga is the best I have ever had-bar none. The lettuce and avocado in it make you feel like you are eating a healthy salad. :)

    (5)
  • Jan D.

Service and quality has hit bottom since it was sold to new owners. I used to go here twice a week.

    (1)
  • Susie L.

These guys make a Carne Asada Torta that is amazing.... Customer service is very friendly too.

  • Lyndsie K.

On a trip with my 8 year old daughter and we used urbanspoon to "shake" us to a random place. Here is where we landed. Reviews said to get the Tri tip burrito and they were RIGHT! I did a Tri tip Torta instead but man for a hole in the wall it's delicious! My girl says Taco Bell is better but she also prefers Kraft Mac n cheese over homemade stuff soooooo...... The area is shady hence the missing star but other than that, great find.

    (4)
  • Joshua B.

This place has quality food at an affordable price. The nachos are a sweet deal best nacho ever, it's a lot of food. Burritos are good too but I usually just get breakfast burrito instead of asada Or tritip which are good too. My only complaint with the burritos are sometimes they're normal size and sometimes they are huge, but other than that, for a walk up joint this place is awesome.

    (5)
  • Steve G.

Beautiful morning for a breakfast buritto and cup of coffee from Caffrodite (next door)

  • Bettie B.

different owners and staff..very bummed about this! i no longer go here.. there is a jim & robs in ojai tho and that one is still delicious!

    (3)
  • Matt N.

Love these guys. Everytime we go there food is amazing and prepared quickly. Love the burritos and the salsa!!!!

    (5)
  • Big J.

It's called Jim and Robs but it's basically just Cali-Mex food. It took them forever to make my burrito. I ordered the veggie burrito and it was overpacked and fell apart halfway through eating it. I'm not really sure what they are going for here but it looks like it's Hispanic owned. They should just turn it into a true taco stand and make authentic food.

    (2)
  • Shaun M.

Name doesn't lie, fresh ingredients make great food. Chorizo breakfast quesidilla, 5 stars... tri-tip burrito, 5 stars!! Seriously good. Will return again.

    (5)
  • Ben T.

I'm really surprised to see this place reviewed so well. The ingredients do seem fresh, but they're also flavorless. The carne asada has a slight tinge of pepper, but is otherwise bland. How can you mess up a torta? My wife said her beans were hard and bland, and the taquitos weren't very tasty, either. That surprised me because they were dripping with grease. Fat usually equals flavor. Not here. Additionally, my wife said the young woman taking her order was rude. We're definitely not coming back.

    (1)
  • Lea R.

All I can say is what happened??? I have been coming here for 10+ years and the last couple of times have been horrible. Did they change ownership? I'm very sad because this was my all time favorite quick burrito place!

    (2)
  • Nel A.

I'm always wanting Mexican food when am in California. It was ok. Friendly people. But I've had better burritos. The server recommended the tri-tip. Ingredients were fresh but it was just ok.

    (2)
  • Cory Y.

I hadn't been here for a while and had lunch there today. What a great treat! Great food, friendly service and the order was ready quick!

    (4)
  • Paul F.

Really good food. Fresh ingredients and what I like about them is they have a wide range of things but I have never been disappointed. Their pastor is not greasy but has outrageous flavor, the garden burrito has a good spinach tort with grilled veggies. It is the perfect Americanized-Mexican food stand they shine through with authentic Mexican taste but then they have a tri-tip burrito that is pretty good.

  • Eileen P.

The hubs and I hit this place twice last week due to the fair and being hungry. We have been a few times before and I figured I should give them a quick shout out. I wasn't always impressed, and wasn't fond of the Axiote burrito, too sweet or something. But I had a carne asada quesadilla that was yummy and a breakfast burrito that I will for sure order again. I don't ever feel sick after eating here, and the food seems fresh. Worth the little bit of wait. It's definitely Americanized Mexican food lol (if you know what i mean) but it will do when you just want to chow down and not worry about trying somewhere new.

  • Alex M.

Been coming here for a little over 15 years. Has not lost it's touch at all. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious and everyone is very friendly here. Have not had any bad service here, EVER. I would recommend this place to everyone. Don't knock it till you try it that's for sure.

    (5)
  • Angela M.

Well let me start off by saying YUMMMMMMY!!! I wish I had taken pictures of the delicious breakfast quesadilla I had to eat so you could see all the melty cheese and mmmmmmm chorizo, yum flash back. I want another right now! I also tried the tri tip burrito. Wasn't sure if this combo would work. It turns out if done right its pretty good. The tri tip is not over sauced & works well with everything else in the burrito. I'd say if you can't make up your mind weather you want bbq or mexican the tri tip burrito is the perfect compromise :) Btw, They are a little bit pricey but you get a lot of food and its quality fresh yumminess. There is a bit of a wait but as I just said the food is well worth it. Oh, & lastly I really really liked the chipotle salsa!!

    (4)
  • Silvia M.

    I love their chicken taquitos!!

  • ryan s.

Update from a few years back. Gave Rob&Jims another shot after hearing people talk about the bfast burrito. They are truly good and I have gone back a few times just for this item. Will continue to try it out until another bad experience.

    (3)
  • Elicia G.

Oh the chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. You must try them. The beans and the rice were just fine. I will probably just order the enchiladas next time, but they are so good. The perfect amount of cheese and sauce, fall apart chicken, what more can I say? They were the best enchiladas I've found in Ventura so far. I will be back!

    (4)
  • Ferne R.

Every thing is fresh from the small dive; hardly called a restaurant, there are a few outside tables but nothing inside; it is basically a "take-out". This size of their burritos is amazing and they are amazingly delicious. We snuck iour dinner nto the theater with our bean and cheese burrito for my husband and a veggie burrito for me. We watched a movie and ate until we were full and still had almost 1/3 left of our delicious dinner. Yuummmmmy!

    (5)
  • Jill S.

I love this place. I eat here like twice a week or more!! The food is fresh and the staff and owner are super friendly. They always let me customize my order! Keep it up!!

    (5)
  • Nathan M.

Americanized Mexican food the way its supposed to be. Delicious. Chicken flauta rocks. The veggies are fresh and crisp and there's lots of meat. Portions are impressive. The one in ojai may have a slight edge in quality but certainly not by enough to make the extra drive worthwhile. Burritos. Tacos. Other assorted Mexican (and American) food. Sweet.

    (5)
  • Wendell L.

Bueno Burrito is my favorite! Red chipotly sauce is the best ever!

    (5)
  • L. A.

This place is very tasty. Make sure you're hungry because the burritos are pretty big. We tried the carne asada & chile colorado burritos. Both were delicious. Plus we received friendly & fast service. We will definitely come here again.

    (4)
  • George M.

The Breakfast Burrito with bacon is legit. Served with the Red Chipotle Salsa it is as satisfying as the Lucky Boy Breakfast Burrito, if you recognize the comparison then you have truly lived.

  • Jenna K.

I had tried the location in Ojai and it was pretty good years ago found this one by my house an decided to give it a try, big mistake. The chicken burrito had lettuce, no cilantro which was listed on the menu. Chicken taco plate and guacamole along with the burrito had no flavor, very bland and disappointing... Also the new girl taking orders failed to ask pinto or black beans and when I ordered pepsi found it was coke wish i was told I wouldn't have ordered it. Blah coke an blahh Jim an robs.

    (1)
  • B F.

Close yet food quality and service is mixed. Tonite I ordered to go. Got home and one of the dinners was wrong - meat on a veggie order. I hate to say this happens more often than not... One dinner is a mistake. Called and got an "i am sorry.. Bring it back and You can get right order." Took it back and guess what it was cold and qrong again. When i called to say it was wrong again.... Black not standard pinto beans... Ilooked like a salad not a burrito in a bowl given the abundance of lettuce was again told..." Brinkg it back and we will domit again." By this time of the rest of the family's dinner was cold and people were hungry. Never a sorry for the inconvenience... We will make it right or this one is on us..... Just drive back and fortha nd we will make it again.... Hello is this any way to do businees. Word to wise.... Be clear about ur order and check it before you leave.... Oh yes, plan to wait while they remake any mistakes.

Sometime last year I rediscovered the greatness that is Jim & Rob's Fresh Grill. Ever since I tried a quesadilla with their rajas con crema, I've been a little bit obsessed. They are huge, they don't skimp on the cheese or the meat, the cream sauce on the chicken goes great with the cheese and they serve it with guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo. Oh man, it's so good. I want one right now. Even though I could probably eat the rajas con crema quesadilla every time, I did branch out occasionally. I tried a quesadilla with the chicken axiote and I grew fonder. Then a wet burrito, corn burritos, nachos....everything, every time was damn good. I have yet to have even the mildest disappointment with any of their food. These guys really know what to do with the chicken, that's for sure. So, Jim & Rob's picks up three (could be more) "Best Meals of Ventura County" awards... VC's Best Quesadilla - Hands down, no contenders VC's Best Use of Chicken in a Mexican style dish VC's Best Taco/Tostada Salad I'm going to miss you Jim & Rob's. There isn't anything even remotely similar in all of Seattle.

    (5)
  • George C.

Though I'd give them a try. Over $8 for nachos with a thin layer of toppings, the rest was 3 inches of dry chips, cheese wasn't even melted. Too many good Mexican food places in town for over priced, mediocre food.

    (2)
  • Rob J.

Pretty good place w/fresh food. Lard free, no trans fats & environmentally friendly. I prefer the burritos but the Tracy salad is really good too.

    (4)
  • D C.

Excellent breakfast burrito! I can't wait to go back and try the chicken, sounds so good!

    (4)
  • Ken R.

Only have been a few times. I have enjoyed it and will go back to try different items. The few times I've been, I have liked it. Tacos and burritos have been winners so far.

    (3)
  • John S.

I got a chicken burrito here and I was pleasantly surprised by it's fresh, clean finish. It seems to be run and operated by a cool family. It's a California grill type of American Mexican food. It doesn't disappoint. If you're looking for an authentic Mexican experience you'll need to try one of the other places in town but for a quick bite Jim & Rob's does the job. It's also right across the street from the bar, Benchwarmers, so it's really convenient to grab some Jim & Rob's when heading in or heading out.

    (3)
  • James S.

My wife are new to the area and stumbled upon this place. The burritos are excellent. Now every time we are back up that way we try and grab lunch. Well priced and food rocks.

    (5)
  • Nostalgia J.

When I was a latchkey kid, shuffling home from Venture high, flunky clique in tow, Jim And Rob's was manna from heaven. $3 would get you a "half order" of fries -which was a bulging box of thick, crunchy, steaming potatoes, which the staff would grudgingly stuff with every type of salsa as well. $4 would get you a giant burrito of any variety, and $2 would get you a bean and cheese that lasted all day. Seriously, after starving in the school system all day, I would be fantasizing about that crap by 5th period. On days when mama was home, she would send me over for some chicken toquitos or a tostada salad which we would devour, competing for the thick globs of sour cream, in the garden of our duplex off Main. I won't get verbose about the crunchy flour tortilla shell or the whole pinto beans, but: Six bucks to feed the both of us, and well. Jim and Robs is like any Mexican joint in Ventura -12 ingredients prepared 50 ways. It can be very healthy -or not, as in "Would you like that deep-fried??" Later, I developed a love affair with their bar b qued chicken sandwich. Its a big beautiful chicken breast on a whole wheat bun, red onions and tomatoes, and a perfect leaf of lettuce, all dripping with sauce. Quality food, fast, and Just naughty enough. Add monster fries for a nominal fee. Although this place was considered a lazy cop-out or last resort when I lived accross the street, I now find myself pining for the simple food served in monsterous portions, and all for a song.

  • Jessie H.

I'm not sure what I'm missing about this place. Quite frankly, it's not very good. It might be fine high school fare, but it isn't suitable for general consumption. I have been here a few times--each time hoping for a better experience. The employees are not the friendliest--a point I could get over--but the food--holy sub-par guacamole. My burrito was cold, lacked flavor and contained stray beans and a rogue eggshell. If you go to Ventura High, enjoy. Otherwise, keep moving...better Mexican food exists.

    (2)
  • Amber W.

This is a great spot for take out Mexican food. They do have a small patio area if you want to eat outside. They have great fresh salsas, their burritos, fish tacos and carne asada are all excellent. Since they cook your order fresh, you will have to be patient or call ahead.

    (4)
  • David F.

The most amazing veggies burrito. About 3lbs and the size of Nebraska. Stuffed with grilles peppers, onions, carrots, chiles, sour cream, avacado, beans, lettuce and rice. I reccomend getting all burritos wet style with tomatillo sauce! Oh and the horchata was almost as tasty as my girlfriends veggie chimihaunga....

  • James P.

This place rules, I eat here 2-3 times a week. "It's not fast food, its good food served quickly" :) Try them out!

    (5)
  • Allison T.

ehhh... So maybe I went here and tried the wrong menu items but I was not impressed at all. I had a side salad and a bbq chicken sandwich. Okay, they tasted fresh and were quality but they were over priced for what I received and pretty unimpressive overall. Do not see me going here again.

    delicious

  • Tim M.

Mediocore at best. High prices for what you get. I feel no need to say anything further.

    (3)
  • Nick G.

Immediately my Carne Asada burrito caught my eye a vibrant display of bright red tomatoes, fresh green lettuce and golden brown Carne. Unfortunately the flavor did live up to the presentation. The flavor was unremarkable and the salsa had an unusual flavor. Jim and & Robs looks nice though does not taste great

    (2)
  • S. M.

Great place to go for a burrito. Try the Bueno Burrito - trust me, the best burrito ever! The Nacho plate is great too when you want to junk out.

    (5)
  • Don M.

I'll tell you why! Because it's fresher than Johnnys.... who sometimes have tough old meat. Because they're nicer than Coralles.... who are rude when you pay with credit card - and they sometimes have tough old meat. And most of all... because the Axiote Burrito ROCKS! What a delicious combo of orange simmered chicken and central American spices - totally unexpected from a Mexican dish, but ohhhh sooo yummy. I'd eat two, but then I'd probably assplode.

    (4)
  • Hovik H.

Order the shrimp burrito and fish taco! Very good! And their chips are yummy too! Their chipotle sauce is extremely hot, which I love. It is a bit pricey for their portion sizes but you get good food, so I guess it's worth it. It's not amazing food, but it is good.

    (4)
  • Russ H.

Pretty good, more health conscious than most. A fairly adventurous menu with spinich tortillas and the like available. But when you've got Corrales, Taqueria Vallarta and Johnny's, why?

    Great, Great, Great food

  • Erika B.

I stopped by here on the way home from Santa Barbara to the LA area. I ordered the carne asada burrito and a horchata for the road. The guy that worked there was very helpful and friendly, partaking in small talk as I waited a short while. The $5 burrito was HUGE, I could only eat half of it! It was delicious as well. I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area.

    (5)
  • Chris R.

Tender, juicy, perfectly-cooked chicken, fresh veggies, huge flavor, best burrito stand ever.

    (5)
  • Tera M.

Nope. Not for me. Yep. They have fresh ingredients. But there is no tasty. no, wow, that's yummy, I want to go back and try other things on the menu or I totally loved what I ordered. It was not very flavorful. I found myself trying to doctor my remaining half a burrito when I got home and I was only rewarded with a quick trip to the restroom. I have another joint that I enjoy, the carnitas is super tasty and the tacos are a buck cheaper!

  • Entity B.

Jim and Rob's Fresh Grill is the perfect place for takeout burritos. They offer a diverse menu full of mouth-watering options. The ingredients are always fresh, the burritos are outstanding, when it comes to taste and value. The salsas are also quite good and the staff is generous about making sure you have enough. The only downside to Jim and Rob's is the restaurant itself, this is definitely more of a take-out place. If you're looking for a delicious Mexican meal on the go, this is the restaurant for you!

    (5)
  • Chris I.

Good fresh no-lard Mexican. Not "traditional", but satisfying without guilt or food coma. Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely no problem if pig fat. Sometimes I need something lighter, but spicey. Especially recommend rellano and pollo asado burrittos. Rellano is not battered, which makes it nice and light...enhancing fire roasted chili flavor. Yes, it's pricier than typical Mexi joints, but nice to enjoy better quality ingredients.

This place is great- it reminds me of mexican food I had growing up. Not at all greasy, overcooked meat, or really salty. I'd rather have food as someone reviewed this place as 'not very flavorful' aka salty, then what most mexican places do- or the amount of lard places put into food, yuck! But not this place- the rice was great and so were the beans. I usually get the veggie burrito [huge portions] carnita and chicken tacos, or just the good ol' bean and cheese. I have to keep making trips to try more things on the menu, and one of my friends said their churros are great- so that's next on the list.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
