Went in for happy hour. Servers were amazing trying to get our party of 6 comfortable at one big table. Which they did. Food and drinks were amazing. Check came and it was $140 and I accidentally put a 100 bill in for a 20 and our server came back and said I think you could have made a mistake. Which I did. So definitely as honest employees. Will I go back? Absolutely!!! Only con I have is the bailys and coffee was a little high priced. But that was my only con. Great job Tahoe Joes

We have been here about 4 times, and we keep wanting it to be good, but it just isn't. The only reason we go back is because my girlfriend loves their pumpkin martinis. I had soup with my salad today, and it was cold, so the waiter took it away and brought back the same cup, apparently after popping it in the microwave. That is not acceptable. The service is always so so, and food is hit or miss. You can NOT get a steak medium rare. They apparently pre cook then to medium. WTF is that about??? Overall I can say we will not go back unless pumpkin martinis are in season, and then only for drinks at happy hour.

First of all my wife's filet was amazing , cooked perfect. Our server was sweet and sincere. We had one issue with my Rib eye....and the manager Keith handled it with such professionalism. This has always been our favorite filet steak house, and will continue to be so... thank you Keith and your amazing staff for making my night out with my wife an awesome night!

I frequent this place a couple times a month. Never had bad service or a bad meal. We usually sit at a booth in the bar. Great wait staff. Friendly bartenders. Happy hour menu is really good. Can't beat it. Pork sandwich is outstanding. Great salads too.

No wait for sitting outside, that's because no one will wait on you any time soon. And the food is slooooow when you do get it. Oh and it will be overcooked. Come on joes you can do better than this.

Love the happy hour. Burger and fries for $3.99. Wings for $2.99. And it taste great. M- F until 6pm cant beat it.

First time trying this place out. So we got here as a small group in the afternoon and it was surprisingly pretty empty. They told us the wait was 10-15mins. We waited for a good 5mins and then they finally sat us even though 90% of the place was empty. Looking at the menu, have to say it was a bit pricey to grab a quick bite or snack. The appetizers were all over 10 bucks!! Luckily it was Happy Hour so we snuck over there and grabbed some booths. Now for a quick bite, the bar and happy hour is the best spot to go. Most of the general seating menu was around 15-30 bucks. I wasn't super hungry but I wasn't going to shell out 15 bucks for a salad. However the steak and everything sounded delicious but I wasn't starving at that point. Appetizers at the bar are $3/$4 and are perfect to hit the spot. We ordered wings, nachos, sliders and onion strings. bunch of drinks and that satisfied our lunch. Now although appetizers are cheaper, I am also assuming they are ALOT smaller then the appetizers given in the main seating. So just because it's cheaper, doesn't mean you are getting a better deal. Wings (4pc), sliders (2), nachos small plate and onion strings were just scraps of onion deep fried. Literally scraps. Everything was delicious and were nice snack bites perfect for the bar. Service however was super slow and terrible. We sat in the booths for a good 15mins when a person passes and asks if anyone took our order. Nope, he takes our order and leaves. Drops off our drinks and asks if we want some house bread while we wait. Sure!! We wait....we wait.....nothing. Our food comes out and we do get anyone checking in on us. Even with us finished with our food, NO ONE refilled waters or asked if we needed anything else. We also had to flag down a staff member to get our check and get it back. I'll come back to check out the main entrees and dining area. Hopefully we have better luck with service.

Not too impressed with the food, it's overpriced for what you get. The carpets are horrifying. Time to make some updates.

We went to Tahoe Joe's the other night for dinner because we had heard that they served delicious food. Well all in all i'd give them a solid 7 out of 10. My ribeye was chewy and grissely, since I paid $30 for the privilege I was quite disappointed, not the food experience I anticipated. My son ordered a combo plate which was to have steak and chicken, but he was served pork instead of steak. The wait staff was nice enough, but our waitress seemed somewhat bored by the spiel she had to deliver .. she would look around the room as she delivered her lines. Bottom line, I probably won't be back. I'd rather cook my own at that price. That $30 ribeye should've been about $15. Sorry TJ

Although the service was fantastic, being served rotten lobster was not my idea of a great birthday dinner. The Wait staff was very apologetic but the Manager could care less. I usually only write positive reviews and would not have written this one if the manager had given a cr%#. Unfortunately this is not the first time we have had a bad dinner. Won't be coming back to this Tahoe Joe's.

Honestly, I'm not quite sure why they ask you how you would like your steak cooked. Medium, medium rare, medium well, all done out pretty much well done. Disappointing paying $20 for a steak that is ordered medium and comes out with no pink, and drys your mouth upon every bite. Our experience was also a bit tainted due to an extremely slow server. Thank goodness the busser recognized this after we didn't receive our salads or bread 30 minutes into the meal. He ended up being the only one to fill our water, bring out the food and make sure we were okay. We pretty much saw her when she took our order and dropped off the check. Only saving grace would be the mashed potatoes and cheesecake. Disappointing for a $60 meal

We like Tahoe Joe's and have been going here for years. Their Joe's steak is nicely flavored and cooked well. Their portions are generous and service is timely. This is a good steakhouse to go to if you are looking for a hearty steak in a casual atmosphere where the wait is generally not too long.

Finally broke down and went to Tahoe Joe's for Happy Hour on their outdoor patio during 70-75 degree weather (which yes, is quite warm for a Bay native). They have a really good Happy Hour for food, I would say their drinks Happy Hour is just ok. Buffalo Wings (6pcs) $2.99 1/4lb Cheeseburger + Fries $3.99 Joe's Steak Sliders (2pcs)) $3.99 Railroad Camp Shrimp $3.99 House Margarita $5.50 Guinness Coors Light $3.50 Buffalo Wings were your normal fare. The burger was relatively good for $4, cheese was melted properly and that chargrilled flavor came through well. The sliders actually pretty much convinced us to get a steak because of the perfect wellness and seasoning all around the piece in our slider. The shrimp felt like a waste of money because I think we would rather have another slider. The margarita was MEH all the way around. I wouldn't die if I never ordered it again, maybe those cocktails would be a lot tastier. Our waitress was fine, nothing too overtly good but she was attentive enough for us to get what we wanted and made sure we weren't dry. My main complaint was she took the fries while I was still eating them with my beer. What can ya do. We were planning to order the steak! But somehow, all of the above items filled us up way past the brim and neither one of us could've forced it in. Next time! One day :) Until then, enjoy!

Horrible service, horrible food! Our server never offered water or bred, soups never arrived and the food that did was vold and extremely salty! I let our server know we never got the soups and all they offered was a desert coupon for our next visit which of course left in the restaurant along with a generous 10% tip... considering the service provided. I wish you could do minus 1 star in yelp...

Well I've been working and staying in Vacaville a few days a week, and eating my way around town, and generally missing my usual bay area restaurant scene. I had a hankering for a thick, medium rare bacon cheeseburger, so I saw that this place has one. I generally have a moratorium on corporate or chain restaurants, but I saw enough hopefulness in the reviews here that I thought I would get a decent meal at least. I came alone since I'm just out here for work, so that usually means I'll try to sit at a counter. Feel weird sitting alone at a table. I'm sensitive to restaurants that have gross smells in them, and usually carpet is the culprit of nasty restaurant smell. As I sat at the bar, I smelled that smell...and I think that smell is the finish used on the wood bar top...its not a thick, hard lacquer/poly type coating, it felt softer. Maybe the cleaning chemicals softened the finish over time? Either way, I think the nasty smell is coming from substandard finish on that wood bar top. Perhaps the finish has become permeable over time, and gross food bacteria have permeated the coating. After reading some reviews about problems getting the right temp on a piece of beef, I figured that the burger was easier to overcook, so I decided on a very affordable $27 Ribeye. I'm used to paying about $40 for such a steak at a SF or Peninsula restaurant. And I was hungry...so I wanted big meat and lots of sides. Here is what I had: Ribeye Medium-Rare: First few bites around the outer fatty areas were great...red, salty, crusty, oily yumminess! As I ate toward the middle of the steak, it got thinner and dryer, and the center of the steak was about Medium-Well/Well. As I ate through to the other side, the steak softened and reddened once again. Go figure! Usually the middle of the steak is under-cooked if something were to go wrong, or the whole thing is overcooked. Mushrooms: Very good flavor, but swimming in mushroom water. The water looked kind of gross, but was very tasty! And kept those mushrooms nice and hot. Clam Chowder: Good Rice Pilaf: Looked mediocre, tasted very good. Even better sprinkled with mushroom water. Loved the rice vermicelli in there, reminds me of my mom's rice. Green Beans: Under seasoned, bland. Could have used a little sear and seasoning to bring out some flavor. Bread: Tasty sourdough dinner rolls that were warm. Yum! Ice Cream Sundae: Hit the spot for cheap. The bartender was nice, though accidentally knocked my water over and into my lap. Mistakes happen, and anyway, I have no other way to get an intense feeling in my groin while I'm out here. So...how do I arrive at 3 stars? Well...I'm willing to go back, partly because of the geographic location, so 3 is the minimum I will give. Do you really go back to a place you rated 2 stars??

By far the best steak in town and the surrounding areas! 14 oz. Ribeye steak cooked to order and no complaints with the service. The baked potato that is one of the side dish options is to die for...I've never had a baked potato cooked so well. Plus the potato has optional fix-ins, such as, chives, sour cream, butter and bacon bits--prepared tableside.

Been a few times and had good experiences. This review is based on the last time I went. Walked in, no host, completely ignored by all of the staff, continued to wait for 5 minutes at least, watched 4 families leave during this time. Staff was chatting in the back ground, and when someone finally greeted me the person was very rude and didn't acknowledge the fact that we had been waiting for a long time. Whoever the hostess working on Friday January 2nd around 830 pm ruined my experience with this restaurant. All she said was "how many" after I said "we were wondering if you guys were still serving because we've been waiting for awhile". Still, she looked annoyed and repeated " how many?" After that, we walked out very disappointed. They missed out on a family of 7 and we'll never go back.

This is our favorite new location for a quick lunch or happy hour. The prices are just unbelievable. $2.99 for 6 wings/ $3.99 for campfire shrimp. The food was just outstanding. The quality was fresh and great. Our server kalyi was super friendly and attentive.

Overpriced food that's OK. Nice place and staff, but there are other places you can get better tasting food for a better price. They do have some great options, but they would taste better if they were cooked properly. It's kinda hidden behind some businesses so you can't see Tahoe Joe's from the main drag. I don't think I'll really come back to this place unless I have family from out of town who want to eat here, but I might come for happy hour.

We went for a late lunch after some Black Friday shopping. We were seated right away. Our server took our drink order and gave us a bread basket. My husband's chicken pot pie soup came out soon after. It was deliciously creamy. His order of Emerald Bay Trio (scallops, jumbo shrimp, and bacon-wrapped filet-$28.99) followed soon after. He was almost halfway through his meal when my Railroad Camp Shrimp Salad ($9.99) was served. I thought my appetite was already ruined but the salad was so delish! I even think it's now my all-time favorite :) Our server apologized for the delay and comped the salad. That gesture was very much appreciated so we just gave it back in the form of tip. If I'm in the area, I will come back for the salad if I have the chance.

We came here because the wait was an hour long at Texas Roadhouse and I'm so glad it was! This place is DELICIOUS. Our waiter was awesome too - can't remember his name but he had a pony tail. The baby greens salad is delicioussss and not drowning in dressing; my boyfriend got the chicken pot pie soup and would have been happy with that but got the rubicon steak he could barely even eat half of. The food is fresh and way better than Outback or any of those other steakhouse chains... You won't regret it!! Only thing I'd change is a better selection of beers ;)

Tahoe Joe's in Vacaville is A GREAT place to eat‼ Great atmosphere and not a Roadshow like some‼ We had a server named Chad, and he was equally GREAT‼ And ladies, he's available...

Can you say FOOD POISONING?????? We visited the Vacaville location last night for an early dinner. When we arrived the restaurant was not very full and we were seated right away. It took several minutes for our server to arrive to take our drink and food orders. Our drinks were delivered quickly but we waited about 15 minutes for our salads. Then 5 minutes later our main dish arrived, not leaving us time to just enjoy the salads. My fiance's meal came with a baked potato so the server (not our original one) showed up with the condiment caddy....but she had no spoons to dish it up. She left the table and about 5 minutes later we saw her come out with the caddy and a couple of other orders that she delivered to another table. About 2-3 minutes later our original server showed up with small servings of each item for the potato.....so more wait time before our food was ready to eat. The food was so-so at best. I had the Joe's steak with cabin fries and green beans. The beans were okay as were the fries but the steak was horrible. Incredibly dry and no flavor. I never eat my meat with Ketchup....but last night I did. I also gave up salt a few weeks back for health reasons....but fell of the bandwagon because there was no flavor/seasoning to the meat. We were in the restaurant about and hour.....and we spent only about 20 minutes eating...the rest was wait time. That all would have been enough to make me not go back, but it got worse. On the way home we made a couple of stops for shopping so it took us almost an hour to get home. In the car I complained that I felt like i had a brick in my stomach. Once i was out of the truck and in the front door, I knew what was to come. Needless to say I spent the rest of the evening in and out of the bathroom and am guessing that I will weigh several pounds less when I get on the scale. I am not usually sensitive to foods..in fact the last time I got food poisoning was about 15 years ago. I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO TAHOE JOE'S EVER......BAD SERVICE, BAD FOOD (BOTH IN TASTE AND SAFETY) AND OVERPRICED. And I forgot to mention that the little lights on the tables all had grease and dust stuck to them....if you're going to have decor items at least keep them clean.

I love Tahoe Joe's. We had the steak nachos, railroad shrimp and the steak salad. Everything was wonderful and just as I expected. From the bar - the pumpkin martini was yummy and there was a nice selection of beer. No desert this time.

Went here for dinner and was not impressed at all. For the price the food should have been at the very least decent, but I can't say that. I ordered jumbo lump crab cakes, they were tiny and dry. My little sister had chicken tenders with fries and her plate looked really sad. The fries were old and soggy. Come on, steakhouse, how hard is it to make good fries? My step mom had penne pasta with added chicken, but when the pasta arrived there was no chicken to be seen. We asked the waitress about it and she came back from the kitchen saying that "they put it there, but they'll make some more". We dug in the pasta some more because we wanted to believe her, but nope, no chicken. She came back with "here's your additional chicken". So not only the food is blah, the service is unacceptable. Also, they serve their draft beer in chilled glass. Everyone knows you only do that with cheap light beer. I honestly don't see the reason to come back ever again.

Went here years ago and remember it being a decent, basic steakhouse experience. Went with some friends as a party of four a couple of weeks ago and it was kind of horrifying. It seemed that every two minutes, we'd have another "oh my god" moment. Noticing that there was food slopped on the seat, the walls, the lampshade.... Noticing the little black flies EVERYWHERE... we couldn't eat without continuously batting them away. Seeing that every single one of the "bread plates" at the end of our table were greasy and had bits of food on them... then discovering that the forks, knives and spoons were the same. All of us just ended up sitting there in a sort of disgusted silence while we realized that everything around us was absolutely filthy, and we were about to be eating the food they were making. Our waitress was impatient and gruff, like we were wasting her time, despite the entire place being nearly empty. It actually really upset one of my friends that the waitress said, "well you clearly don't know what you want, so I'll just come back here later to find out" to me. Hey staff, don't just stand around watching sports on the bar tvs, waiting to be inconvenienced by someone calling you to their table for service; why don't you CLEAN SOMETHING with all that extra time you seem to have! So turned off by this visit, I can't see myself ever saying, "hey, let's go to Tahoe Joe's!" ever again. Bring your flyswatters.

I wish I could say I like this restaurant. We have gone twice in two years for my son's birthday. We don't go out to eat very often as a family so it's a big deal for us and it was his *birthday* dinner. I didn't let him know how bad the food was because he seemed to enjoy it. The waitress was very helpful and nice, which was great because we had her both times we went. However, this chain obviously seems to think that they can replace flavor and quality food with salt. I got the soup and it was a bowl of salt. The gravy on the mashed potatoes was liquid salt. I ordered a medium rare prime rib for $22. Unfortunately when it came out half of it was blue because it was so un cooked. I brought it home and cooked it but really, when you pay that kind of money shouldn't the restaurant actually cook your food for you?

went there on a Tuesday afternoon at 5:00 pm for dinner. ordered appetizer with our main dish. appetizer came 15 minutes later and the main dish came like an hour after. I was flabbergasted! I understand that they have to maybe wait for the prime rib to cook but that long?????? we were not even offered the specials for the day. food is good but the wait? really?

Went in for dinner with my daughter and husband. We started out with an appetizer of shrimp and crab cake. The crab cakes were okay. The shirmo was so hard that my daughter started complaining of toothaches. As I sat in the restaurant waiting for them to bring order, I noticed how dusty and dirty the surrounding area was. I Immediately asked for the check for our crab cakes and drinks. And literally ran out of that place. Prices are way over the top. Definitely I will not be returning to this restaurant

Ate lunch here with my daughter today for a special day out. It was still overpriced even though we got there just in time to order off the lunch menu. We were seated at about 1:50. They serve lunch until 2pm. The exact same steak meal, including the same size steak is $5 more on the dinner menu than it is on the lunch menu. We ordered their Railroad shrimp appetizer. It was good, I guess. The garlic soy sauce dip was good...but there is so much breading on the shrimp that I could hardly taste the shrimp at all. It was nice and crispy, but I felt like I was eating "crispies" dipped in sauce. There were supposed to be peanuts...never saw or tasted any. We ordered drinks....they were good, but expensive. Their lemonade w/ rum drink was $9 a pop, which although I think ridiculous, is about right for this area. But the drink was good & I chose to pay. I had a side salad....it was ok. Way too much raw onion mixed in and lettuce was so so..lots of ribs and giant chunks. We both had their 10 oz. Joe's steak. Mashed potatoes were great, green beans awesome. Steak was really good. It was too much to finish, we both brought home about 1/2 our steak. The Joe's steak has a bit of a "roast" flavor more than a steak flavor, (probably due to it being slow roasted 19 hours?!) but it's still yummy. The service was perfect. Of course there were only a few customers in the whole place, so I would expect stellar service. Our server (Alex, I think?) was on top of everything and very helpful and attentive. The booth we were in was not comfortable. Something was weird with the seat & I left with a back ache. I've eaten here a few other times, years ago. I would probably have rated it about the same.....decent food and good service, although overpriced.

The steaks were good as always, but my daughters didn't like some of their meals (the pan seared calamari, salmon, breaded shrimp, etc.). However the service was excellent and it was a nice place to spend Father's Day dinner. I might be coming back for the occasional 6 oz. in the future.

Had a coupon to here so we went for the 1st time. The staff was super nice. The appetizer prices were great on the Sunday and happy hour menu. We had the loaded fries and the chips and salsa. They were both great. We enjoyed our meals and LOVED the honey mustard dressing, We even bought some to take home. Great lunch.

We had just checked into our hotel & I didn't feel like driving back into Napa for dinner. We hit upon this place & decided it's worth a try, lets eat! What a surprise, the food was good, Steak & baked potato was a little too big for me & could have easily been shared. This is like a sizzler w/o the salad bar!

Love this place. We usually come here at least every other week. There's not a lot of good quality food to choose from around vacaville but if I had to choose this probably would be the place I would pick. The food or at least the things I order I really enjoy. I like the salmon. They have two flavors and they both are good. I have also ordered the ribs and chicken also very good. But my absolute favorite is the baby green salad with raisins, walnuts, Gorgonzola and champagne dressing. The only negative thing I would say is how long it takes to get you food there. You'll be there a good hour and a half maybe more. The manager Kelly is awesome. She's the most helpful manager I've ever dealt with. I bought some gift cards that had some issues and she made sure it was all taken care of. Kelly you rock! Hope this helped! So if you want the best quality food you can get around vacaville this is definitely the place to go!!!

We tried the cheesecake last night and it is pretty darn YUMMY! The slice was big enough for two adults. The cheese cake is light and fluffy with a 1/4 inch thick delicious graham cracker crust. On top was a generous amount of homemade whipped cream. I am not a huge cheesecake fan, but this was very good stuff!

Horrible service and mediocre overpriced food. We've been done with our food for 20 minutes. No one has checked on us and they didn't deliver our Cesar salad. We fear we may die in this booth before we get the check.... save yourselves.

The reason for my one star grade is the quality of Tahoe Joe's food. The service was very good with both a friendly hostess and helpful waiter. The decor was pleasant although our booth was not comfortable with hard high backs. As a party of six for lunch we ordered various items on the menu. We were initially served freshly baked rolls which were very nice. But the main entrees were very poor. I guess the theme of Tahoe Joe's food is "American Comfort Food" which is okay if cooked well with quality ingredients but that wasn't the case here. The hamburger was thin and mealy and I suspect was not 100% beef. The patty melt was smothered in grease. The french fries were inedible ... limp grease saturated string-fries with nasty seasoning. The $20 pork chops were tough, filled with gristle, and heavily "seasoned" with pepper. The mashed potatoes were also overly seasoned with who knows what. The green beans were one thing that was good. Overall a very disappointing meal. One has to wonder about a restaurant that cannot cook a hamburger and fries well or has the attitude that the more grease the better. Expensive + Bad Food = Poor Value

Took my girlfriend to dinner here a couple weeks ago and the service was excellent. The food was excellent. It's not surprising because it has been every time I've been here except once. That one bad experience, the manager comped my meal and he did it without me even having to complain. He saw the server struggling and apparently thought he should be proactive. 5 stars all day!

I had the combo with the Joe's steak and ribs. I was a little disappointed by the size of the steak, it was only about 4 ounces from what I could tell and was therefore pretty dry. I guess it's tough to cook such a small piece of meat right. It was pretty flavorful though. The ribs were pretty good, but I've had better. Had green beans and mashers on the side which were okay. Had nachos and coconut shrimp which was okay. Overall, a satisfying meal but nothing special to write home about.

Had a fundraiser ticket for a Tahoe Joe's dinner which included soup or salad, ribs, steak or chicken, smashed potato and green beans last night. I went to the to go area of the restaurant and Kelly helped me. She was a great representative for Tahoe Joe's; so polite and helpful. Not only did I get two great dinners, I had someone help me that was great, making my Tahoe Joe's experience a fantastic one. Can't wait to go back!

Terrible...we ordered our steak medium rare and it came out well done; gave us a BBQ burger instead of a mushroom burger; gave us rice pilaf instead of a baked potato (do you see a trend here?). I ordered the unlimited soup and salad lunch and they ran out of their soup of the day (chicken pot pie soup) so I had no choice but to get their cheesy potato soup which was really salty. Fries were salty and mushy. Chicken nuggets were overcooked and hard. Here's the number one reason why everything came out incorrect: our server, Jason, did not write anything down! Don't try to memorize four different orders, otherwise, you're bound to screw something up. Only good thing out of our meal was their sourdough bread rolls. We could've just made a meal out of that. Sorry, Joe....we won't be coming back.

Meh. Decided to stop by when another restaurant we wanted to go to was closed. Tahoe Joe's serves good ol' American classics in a lodge styled restaurant. Unfortunately, it was my first time there and will probably be my last. The service was fine. But the food is right under average. A lot of it was over seasoned and salty. The fries were "cabin style" but really were just mushy, salty and burnt. Honestly, the browness of the fries just makes it look old. The ribs lunch was okay and for a decent price. Iced tea came in mason jars and was a pretty hefty serving.

Really like their new york steak with mountain mashers and extra gravy. Goes real good with a 22 oz shock top. Their jars of lemonade are very sweet and good. The inside makes you feel like you are in a nice warm cabin and is very cozy. Always have had good service here, although one time there was quite a bit of a wait, although my friend and I just went walking around the outlets.

Not the bomb but good enough. As good as an outback or other chain steak houses. Good nachos with chicken.

Fantastic food and service for the whole family!! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The decor was great. Everyone's dinner was incredible!! We had the new York strip steak, shrimp fettuccine, Joe's famous steak, crab cakes, and ahi tuna. Everyone was more than satisfied. Our waitress Jesi was so courteous and could not have been any better!! She was wonderful! I would recommend this steak house to anyone looking for a great meal in the city. We will definitely be back!

Food was great. Tasty and portions very generous. Had the ribs and chicken. Wasn't expecting much (food snob mentality) but the flavor was just right. The rub on the chicken was awesome. Definitely a step up from Outback and Texas Road house. Wish I would have known of this place a lot sooner.

Our favorite place where we can grab cheap appetizers & really good soup! The clam chowder is amazing! The dressing are all made in house. Love the steak sliders. Very fun for the kids to. Relaxing environment.

First time dining here on Saturday night. Server said we would get a free dessert for keeping us waiting -- not sure if this is a scam to get a bigger tip because we hardly waited to order more than a few minutes. Cheesecake was good (free) so I don't mind. Stranger though was the appetizer that never came. I really wanted crab cakes but the server said he forgot to place the order. That was hard to understand since I saw him write it down on the order pad. Then he said we could order anything on the menu to go. Uh, can't I have the crab cakes and eat them here? He never asked again if we wanted them, either to go or to eat there. That didn't bother us too much because the main course was plenty big for two. Got the combo of a joes steak and some ribs. Came with a big bowl of clam chowder. The meal was split on two plates so I was surprised that it seemed like they gave us extra veggies, potatoes, and soup. If this was only for one person, it'd be a huge meal. So it's a mixed review. Weird service but for a dinner for two with dessert for $24, I like it. I'd still would have liked the crab cakes.

Fun Tahoe themed interior. Definitely feels like a chain. It's a bit pricey for what it is, but I've been here several times and will definitely eat there again when I don't feel like firing up my own grill or driving to SF to go to a top notch steakhouse. Steaks are juicier and taste better than what Texas Roadhouse offers. Plus they actually cook your steak to how you want it.

What a horrible experience. The hostess wouldn't seat us until our entire party arrived, which would have been fine if she didn't have such an attitude about it. Then our waiter gave us attitude and never came back to check on us after our food arrived (an HOUR after we ordered it). Our food was cold too which makes me suspect he intentionally kept us waiting because he didn't like us for whatever reason. Maybe because we asked for bread -- go figure. What a joke. Do yourself a favor and go to Texas Roadhouse instead -- this place sucks!!!

Where to start...the 25 minute wait time really was over an hour. When we finally got seated our server was no where to be found. When we finally got a server, we ordered an appetizer only to be told by our server that another server stole it. He offered us another appetizer that had been sitting there waiting to be picked up. IN retrospect we should have passed on it. The food was just so-so. The rolls were kind of tasteless, probably a good thing they didn't bring us anymore of them. the bright spot was our server who was pretty good, but not good enough to overcome everything else. At this point I don't see any reason to go back.

omg.. i am up here visiting a friend for my birthday weekend. . she and her husband took my girlfriend and i here, and never in my life have i experienced anything like it.. the staff for one was so neatly and sharply dressed. they were also prompt in seating us and giving us menus and a really clean table. they took the orders and were very quick with drink refills and bread rolls. the best part when the food came. . omg! the ponderosa sirloin steak with green beans and baked potato. . absolutely too die for. the steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. the green beans were still a little crunchy but packed with so much flavor. the baked potato was perfect and large. the seasoning on the steak.. mmm!!! it was juicy and tender and the herb crust on it was incredible! you could actually taste every element of flavor.. it was perfect level of salt, pepper, garlic, rosemary too name a few.. it was hot when it came and perfectly pink in the whole steak. . i have never had a perfectly cooked piece of meat. the food was excellent and service was prefect. i recommend that if you want something to remember and food and service done right! than go to tahoe joe's! it's worth every penny!

I always like coming here. The server was great but I can't say that for my steak. I sent it back twice because it was supposed to be medium well. It was close to rare twice!! My friend and son were both done eating by the time my steak came back. The manager was friendly and apologized. He said he would take it off our bill but he never did. I was quit disappointed. We paid our bill and left.

So it was our 16th anniversary on Thursday. Waiting on our appetizers. Ahi tuna gone wrongn Waiting on our salads. Ran out of crutons.Waiting on just the rolls.Which were the ONLY good thing. Entrée 1 hour later. Steaks were dry after asking for medium rare. Kept telling each other nothing was going to ruin our Anniversary. Lots of big sighs. Hubby didn't eat his over cooked Tahoe steak. Even when he dunked it in my dry Prime Rib sauce. Stopped eating and gave my meal to hubby. At least one of us got an average meal. Server and bartender kept saying out loud it was a fundraiser night. IT'S NOW OUR FUNDRAISER ANNIVERSARY! Never forget it.SMDH! Every restaurant has an off day. To bad is was on a day that rained our Anniversary.

Both times I have been in (one lunch, one dinner-Valentines no less) have been phenomenal visits! I requested the same server Kyle and wasn't disappointed. They were very slow the first visit and a friend of mine decided we should try since we'd never been and she was from out of town. We were catered to and felt very welcome. My second visit was for dinner valentines day and though it was very busy(as expected) once again our service and food were phenomenal! The manager was very attentive as were all the servers, especially ours. He even remembered me from out first visit. The lobster and filet were to die for and the sirloin and railroad camp shrimp my fiancé had were "perfection". Highly recommend and don't forget to get Kyle and his famous Roy Rogers...

Time of day: evening/dinner hour Service: attentive Wait: not too long (about 10 min in our case) Food arrived quickly and was great. I'm visiting cousins in Fairfield and they brought me here because I had a hankering for steak. I consider myself fairly well versed on quality in this department and I found my 10oz tenderloin to be quite good. I ordered it medium rare and it came medium rare, which is sadly hard to come by at some establishments. You can really taste the almond wood smoked flavor, it imparts a very rich contribution. I found that I was actually too full to eat much of my dinner after polishing off the salad (Caesar in my case) and sourdough buns that were complimentary with my meal. The baked potato option comes with fixings (sour cream, chives, butter and real bacon) and the green beans were pretty good (not crisp, a little floppy but at least still green.) I also ordered a Mojito and was not disappointed. I'd recommend for anyone who would like a nice, family friendly dinner.

If you want the BEST steak nachos of your life you MUST come here and try theirs. I JUST LOVE their steak nachos and they are nice big chunks. I've tried these at other places and they always use tiny little bits but here you get good bite sized pieces. The kids really enjoy going there because they let each child at the table play with an Etch A Sketch while dining.

I came in expecting the same overcooked meat like most other chains. But I pleasantly surprised that their cooking temperatures were dead on. I ordered a rib-eye rare; normally I get med-rare at steakhouses but with chains I order rare with the expectation they'll overcook it. But I got RARE! Fortunately for me I can stomach that oh'so tender meat. It was a bit hard to cut, I would recommend they replace their steak knives. Other than that, no complaints.

I sincerely hope that the manager of this location sees this and remembers me and my husband. We came in after seeing a movie for a good steak dinner on New Year's day. HA! Little did we know what we were in for. Walk in and it wasn't busy at all, so we were seated immediately. My hubby and I took off our coats and got comfy getting our tummies ready for a good dinner. Looked over our menus and decided. And then waited. 5 minutes passed. No one came by. 2 servers passed by and looked at us. With our menus closed. Hubby and i made small talk while my eyes wandered wondering if someone was going to come by. Nope. Nothing. Another 5 minutes passed. No one and another 2 servers passed by us. Saw 2 servers in the back talking and laughing. Hubby got up to use the bathroom, in that time, guess what? NO ONE CAME BY!!!! When my hubby got back to the table, I was like are you ready to go? I'm done with this restaurant and this crappy service. Grabbed our coats and walked to the hostess podium where I calmly asked for the manager on duty. When the manager came by I explained to him that we were seated in the upper section of the restaurant and no one came by to help us. The manager was very nice about it and he seemed shocked as all hell that no one came by. Hmm, maybe it's because the restaurant wasn't busy?! I told him we were leaving and not be getting our business, and we walked out. I'm sure the people around us were laughing at us as we walked out, but I'm sorry I don't put up with horrible, and nonexistent service, especially at places that are not that busy! FYI: we waited around a good 15-20 minutes before walking out. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

Walking into Tahoe Joe's made us feel like we were in Tahoe, without the commute that was requiring chains that day. Love that log cabin vibe! The service was fantastic. Our server, Justin?, was in a great mood and joked with us a lot. Mom & Honey had burgers - Bleu Burger and Mushroom Burger. Both of them kept commenting on how juicy their burgers were and how did they get that juicy. LOL Too bad we don't have a Tahoe Joe close to us because Honey says he's going to crave their burgers. (roadtrip!) Dad had the Chicken Fingers. He liked 'em but felt left out because he didn't have a juicy burger. hahahaha! I had the Camp Railroad Shrimp Salad - oh my, where to start? 10 plump shrimp (so big that Dad kept asking how many "prawns" were on my salad), tempura, chopped lettuce and a warm Asian vinegarette that I'm still craving! So good. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I love how they serve their drinks in Ball canning jars here. So cabin cozy, their little details make the outdoorsy experience complete. The draft beer was cold and smooth. The soda's were bubbly and frosty. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas... with a Tahoe Joe's close to my house!

Tahoe Joe's is one of the best restaurants in Vacaville and I would say one of the top steakhouses in the area. What first lured me in was a coupon for a free appetizer and every visit since then I have never been disappointed. I am very impressed with the quality and the taste of all that I've ordered. The Railroad Camp Shrimp is so flavorful and their made from scratch Clam Chowder is the best I've tasted. The Sierra Mountain Ribs just falls off the bones, the steaks are always tender and the salads are always crisp and fresh. The prices are reasonable and the portions are large, so large that from the leftovers that I take home, I can have at least two more meals. The ambiance is warm, comfortable, family friendly and reminds me of a Tahoe ski lodge. I am definitely a repeat customer.

I highly recommend the TJ in Vacaville. The food is excellent and the service is always fantastic. I recommend the Railroad camp shrimp appetizer if you like very crunchy tempura battered shimp with a delicious asian dipping sauce. I've tried almost everything on their menu, but I always go back to ordering the pork chops. The green beans and potato sides are also very tasty and filling. I recommend going in early for dinner. Sometimes there can be a 20-30 min wait, especially on the weekends.

Do not come here while on a diet, because the portions are HUGE. Everything tasted good and the service was good, but unfortunately two of our party's wine glasses were filthy. We asked for clean glasses, which we got, and they comped us our wine. So that was nice, but overall, this is not a place I would want to come spend 20ish dollars a plate for a mediocre dinner.

We've eaten here two times since moving to Vacaville. The first time we had the dinner special for $19.99 that came with an appetizer to share, two dinner entrees and a dessert to share. We had the pan seared calamari. We did not read the description very well because we thought it was going to be breaded, but it was still pretty good. For entrees, we had the prime rib and the peppercorn steak. Good portions; we did not finish our plates. We had to take the New York cheesecake home for dessert. Service was a bit slow, but we figured it was because it was a week night. Our second experience was pretty much the same. We can't say the food is all that great and the service is slow (again a weeknight - makes us wonder if it's worse on a weekend). But, we would come back just because it's close by.

We stopped here on the way home from San Francisco. We were just looking for something to eat and turned into the Vacaville outlets. We did not care for the decor of the restaurant, but the food was good. I really liked my salad with champagne vinaigrette grilled chicken and goat cheese. My husband had a pasta which he thought was decent, but nothing special. It took us a bit to get our food even though the restaurant was empty aside from a few tables. Overall, it was a good experience and worth stopping by, especially for my salad :).

YES YES YES! Food was great, service was perfect, prices amazing, parking excellent. We were looking for a place to eat at the end of a long weekend and an exhausting day at the Outlets - tired, hungry and not wanting fast food, we saw this place with lots of easy parking out in front. Walked and thought - geez I hope it's not cheesy or a fast food in disguise. I was half way expecting a negative experience because of my own mindset and I really didn't want to be disappointed.... I needed to be taken care of and with good food & drink! We were seated immediately and the restaurant was only about 1/4 full since it was still early- about 5pm. Emily our waitress rocked it - she gave the lowdown on everything with informed knowledge and intelligence - not just reading back what someone wrote her for the day's menu. The wine list was impressive and Emily's suggestions were right on point. I had the halibut and added a small lobster tail to it because I've been hankering for lobster for a while. It did not disappoint, sweet, tender and delish. The halibut was light and flavorful and the sauce (I had mine held on the side) was perfect too. And the veggies were crisp steamed green beans, and plentiful, and not soggy squash/ zucchini which too many places serve. The side salad was large and offered different lettuces and again not the pre-packaged iceberg/ carrot dish that again too many places put out. Hubby had the steak and mashed potatoes and well an empty plate is a happy plate & that was his. He had the railroad shrimp added to his dinner and enjoyed them as well. I had a bite of his steak and it was really good and they offer real horse radish as well. Again, the wine list was impressive which included Joseph Phelps, which is hard to find. After reading so many reviews (here & on other businesses) you can tell how employees really can make or break an experience so extra kudos to Tahoe Joe's for hiring the right people and to Emily and others who served us. Others in the restaurant looked to be having a similar experience including families with youngsters and a large birthday party for an older group in their 60s. Something for everyone and I look forward to going back again. Go check 'em out!

Need to ask for bread, it is not offered by three server when asked for drinks. We asked for a fully cooked salmon beet received out rare. Also the cooked was not fuller cooked. And... The check room long time to receive.

This establishment was recommended but at another location south of here. Now if you like eating in some large wood cabin, you'll like the atmosphere here. Okay, order the prime rib and railroad camp shrimp along with fries, sweet potato and salad. Ask for a thick cut on the prime but did not get it. Indicated medium rare but got medium. Maybe it became medium from the time it came off the grill to when it reach the table as it seem like a rather long wait but the place was busy that evening. The meat was nothing special and had better at Molly Stone's hot food area. The shrimp was just okay as I was told. The fries was crispy but over seasoned with the shaker. Mason jar was use to hold the drinks, kept it cold. I was looking forward to coming here but overall, food and service was just okay as I had told the moose hanging on the wall on the way out. Wish I had went to Texas Roadhouse instead.

Tahoe Joe's is located at the Vacaville Premium Outlets adjacent to Sam's Club. Ample parking on a weekday evening and not overly crowded. It's conveniently located for those who love to shop. We decided to order the dinner for two. Our main dish included medium rare prime rib with a choice of salad and a side. Also, a Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes appetizer and a Neveda Cheesecake to share with complementary bread. Everything tasted great! If you like a cheesecake with a thick graham cracker crust, give it a try. Definitely a winner! I enjoyed their Mint Green ice tea as well. Our waitress for the evening was new and was in training. She was detailed and attentive. Great service! Overall, it's not bad of a steakhouse with an on par price range.

I'd pass, pretty average almost fast foolish place .. Thinking of Olive Garden, then this place is your spot it's better Me I'm going to chipotle or Amicis across the freeway Tried this only because it is an easy walk from the Tesla charger

It was between 3 and 4 stars but when I thought about how good their cheesecake is, I had to give them the 4. I've been eating at Tahoe Joe's for years. It's been a stable steakhouse in Vacaville for quite awhile now. I'm not really wowed by their meat selections, which is why I struggled with 3 or 4 stars. So I usually opt for a pasta or salad when I dine here. Honestly the real reason I ever suggest this place is because I absolutley adore their cheesecake. It's creamy, soft, buttery and HUGE. My family usually shares just 1 slice. It's that big. The atmosphere at Tahoe Joe's is just so Vacaville to me. Inside feels like a wooden cabin, with giant booths, warm decor, and plenty of large plates of food on the tables. I always know I'm home when I eat here.

Decided to try here for a change (was it my sons birthday? Damned Alzheimer) anyway hadn't been here and figured what the heck, well shoulda gone somewhere else. The food was Ok, standard faire but nothing out of the ordinary. The place was empty but the wait staff was in slow motion. We waited and waited (must have been figuring out which cow to take?) anyway when it did come it was all together. Salad, main dish drinks everything. Then we saw nobody until the bill was brought. Seriously, hate too be here if it was busy. Try somewhere else, there's plenty of good Steakhouses around no need to settle for high prices and mediocre service.

We are up here on business and saw the restaurant from the road. Decided to try it as the parking lot was full and that's always a good sign! The food was excellent. First time here and I was really looking forward to it! Unfortunately I was very disappointed with both Food and Service. Came in on a Friday for a late lunch. The place was not crowded, I actually enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant with a lodgy Tahoe vibe when we first came in. The waiter was horrid from the beginning. It took forever for him to get to us and by the time he did we were already to go with our order. This would be the theme for our service throughout. He never came by to ask for refills, he took forever with the rolls and he forgot to bring one of our appetizers which did not arrive till the meal came out. The food itself was not great at all. The onion straws were way too salty. The Joe's Steak Sandwich was plain and not flavorful at all and the fries it came with were soggy. I dont believe I will be returning.

First time visit, not super impressed with the food or service. It was pretty empty for a Sunday lunch and the booths felt crammed because the stationary tables are right up in your chest. First off, our waitress Rainee? missed our request for lemon slices in water, whatever and not a huge deal, but off the top it was obvious she doesn't do well with details. I ordered a Mountain Dip with french fries and based on Yelp tips I wanted to order a few of their happy hour/bar hot wings, but that was "not possible" because our waitress said that she didn't have "card access" to place bar food orders!! Despicable, craziness or perhaps straight up laziness, but I literally had to place the order myself by walking over to the bar! I can't see why our waitress couldn't do this or why management hasn't discovered a highly elaborate plan to solve this wing mystery? Bob is a genius! The highly intelligent bartender not only took my order, but was also "authorized" to bring me my damn food, yaay! Finally, a human who can think outside of the freaking box. The wings were worth the walk, but the Mountain Dip wasn't that fresh; the bread was slightly stale, the meat was bland. The fries were delicious.

Second time here, and better than the last. This time, we sat at a "high-top" table in the bar. All the bartenders waited on us, we're super friendly, and happily accomidated a few basic modifications. Happy Hour Shrimp, Burger, and Mahi Tacos didn't disappoint. When we come back, we'll definitely grab another table in the bar area; I'm convinced- from experience- that the servers forced to go outside are... being punished. Or something.

My friends and I stumbled upon this place without any of us having prior knowledge or experience of this place- it was a clean slate. I loved the environment and theming inside, very country western camping feel. I loved that all of the glasses are mason jars. Their prawns were amazing, so delicious! I also loved how they bring out a baked potato "bar" to the table- sour cream, bacon, chives, and butter. Green beans come with almost every meal too(they have bacon on them too) However, that was the driest steak I have ever tasted in my life. I was choking it down with water on every bite. I should have asked for steak sauce.. Whew. I ended up dipping the steak in ketchup because I needed some kind of moisture. I was with a party of 6 and this was everyone's complaint. I probably won't be coming back here ever

You suck! Ahem, which is to say that this place periodically sends out coupons in the mail to attract customers and then fails in every imaginable way to satisfy said customers. I have been tricked twice into going here by offers that have intrigued me. Never again. I don't know how it is even possible to serve a well-done steak with blood in it, have it sent back, and then return it to the customer still uncooked to the correct specification, but it happens here apparently....and then the waitress will argue about the definition of well-done. Incredible. Ugh. Sometimes I go to the nearby Staples for office supplies. On these occasions I make it a point to give this establishment the stink eye, accompanied by 1-3 raspberries. I grr at you, Joe.

We took advantage of their call ahead program and was able to book a last minute table for 10 people at 7:30 on a busy Saturday. We arrived on-time and saw dozens of people in the waiting area, so I thought we wouldn't be seated for quite awhile. The nice hostesses at the front seated us minutes after we checked in, which was a nice surprise. Kayli, our server, was very attentive, outgoing, friendly, and was completely on it. 5 stars for the amazing customer service! I recommend the calamari appetizer and the railroad camp shrimp. Mmmmm... Oh, and the Arnold Palmers come in huge mason jars. They make their own lemonade which made the drink sweet without needing sugar. I would definitely get one of those again. My dad used a $16.99 coupon for the steak with the signature steak sauce and was not disappointed. Thanks for a memorable evening, Tahoe Joe's!

Great place with a diverse menu. Something for everyone. The ahi tuna appetizer is very good! The rib eye is awesome. They cook it perfectly. The side dish of rice pilaf is really good. Almost like Chinese fried rice. Great service. We go all he time. Good beer section!

It's a decent steakhouse, the food was good and their sourdough bread was great. Portions are generous, quality and selection for the price is comparable to many chains (eg, this is a similar price and food experience to Tx Roadhouse or Chili's). Expect to pay $15-25/ entree. Staff was friendly, and we didn't wait long for a table on a Thursday night; for all that, it did seem to take a while for our food to arrive. The decor was dated - all heavily shellacked pine, canoes and teepee shaped light covers; I prefer an experience that feels a little more unique and authentic and will probably look elsewhere when I'm in the mood for a heavy, meat-centric, sit down dinner.

This particular location happens to be tucked right in between the Vacaville Outlets but oddly enough it was not too crowded BUT the service was extremely slow. I first ordered an appetizer, I decided to try the spinach and artichoke dip...What a mistake that was, it was probably the most disgusting dip I've ever consumed. There were HUGE chunks of artichoke and barely any spinach, I was actually sad about that because I thought i was going to love it. I decided for lunch instead of getting a steak like I normally do that I would get the bacon wrapped bourbon shrimp which was accompanied by grilled veggies and a rice pilaf. I absolutely loved my meal, how can you go wrong with bacon wrapped shrimp. They were cooked to perfection and the rice was amazing. All in all I loved my meal minus the appetizer but the service was way too slow for me.

One of the better steak houses. Large portions. Its a bit pricey but always good. You won't get out much under $30 per person. Staff is always friendly, it's not overly loud like some of the other steak houses so that's nice for us older crowd who are done raising kids and don't want to pay for a nice meal out having to listen to someone else's kids screaming and crying. I work hard all week and nothing bothers me more than listening to that and paying for it too. When my kids were young and cried during dinner out I got up and took them out so that others weren't disrupted. I took my dinner home or hey I just got a sitter. That's a novel idea. Sorry for my rant, guess I'm feeling a bit pissy.

SLOW Service, mediocre food. Went there on a Monday night around 7:30, it was 1/2 empty with plenty of staff. After being seated, it took 20 minutes to get our drink order and another 15 minutes to take our dinner order. By the time food was at the table we were an hour committed to this place. The prime rib lacked "sizzle" and was kind of bland. The sides were decent, but at $24 a head for steak or prime rib the meat should be better than this. The star of the meal was the carrot cake for dessert. Though that was eaten at home as we were tired after TWO hours for a meal that should have been served and eaten in half the time. For the price, I'll go to Cattlemen's in Dixon next time.

Note to self: Never go back! Had a couple of items off the HH, the service was great but the food was not there, but MAYBE should have gotten the steak? Who knows but still won't be back.

I almost didn't come here because other steakhouses had more stars. I am so glad I took a chance. This place is awesome. The food was outstanding, as well was the service.

Slow slow slow. Came on a Sunday afternoon so I actually had the service I expected. But the place was 1/2 empty! I don't really understand why the service was slow. I'm a very patient person but this was too much. The food was pretty good though. Steak sandwich was delicious with the cheese bread! Pulled pork sandwich was tasty. Burger and chicken strips were good. And the little ones ribs where pretty good too. We got the crab cake appetizer, which although good, was honestly a total rip off. It was the most expensive plate we got because it came with 2 small crab cakes. Only 2 small cakes for $12! And it's crab season right now so come on! All in all we won't be going back. Yes the food was good but the over experience for the value is just not worth it.

Tahoe Joe's is a nice place to go when you need a hearty meal. We usually are able to get in here without too long of a wait and they even take call ahead for an impromptu reservation. The food portions are very large. Their standard meals come with a meat of your choice (steak, chicken, shrimp etc.) and 2 sides. You also get complimentary rolls and butter. Sometimes they will offer a special where a couple can eat for $35. Great deal. Overall happy with Tahoe Joe's. Nothing super spectacular but overall good quick food with good service.

This was not my first time eating here, and I ordered the Tahoe Joe's Steak as usual, however, it was not medium, it was well done & tough. I was tired of waiting for the waitress to come back so I just kept eating the steak because I was hungry! The service was definitely lacking and the quality of their steak....it will be awhile until I come back, if I do at all. Sorry for the bad review but we spent $100 for the 2 of us and I was very disappointed!

First off having a animal head as decoration to me is creepy enough. But this is my count down on why this is my first and maybe my last time to eat here. 1) my silverware was not a complete set (missing spoon {no big deal right}). 2) the dinner rolls was okay ( but they did not provide a butter knife. For as much as they charge their customer that should come automatically. 3) we order an appetizer the seared ahi tuna (which was good; but the presentation sucks and it felt as if I was eating scraps of something that might have tasted wonderful) you get more fish eating at a sushi joint with one bite. 4) the soup that was served was cold. I had to ask if they could reheat it. The server took it back and apologize because there was two pots of soup and they gave us the old batch. 5) everyone that was around us who also came after us, got their food before we did. 6) after getting our main course ... our food was cold again. Seriously I wanted hot food ... if I wanted to eat cold food I should have just stayed home and made a sandwich my self or gotten sushi. I got the prime rib for $23 which was cold. I could have spent half the price at balck bear or just the same price at Texas road house and went home satisfied (because they would have served the food hot and tasty) and went home with left overs. I didn't even bother taking home what I had left ... since I didn't want to be reminded of how bad it was. My boyfriend who ordered the single lobster tail for $24. The lobster tail was over cooked, rubbery, and extremely salty. Note: people with high blood pls.dont order this dish if you value your life. And again you could order a better tasting lobster at a buffet place and eat as much as you want. I don't mind paying $$$ for great tasting food that is worth the money. I hate paying for food that charges you an arm and a leg when you can get better tasting food at a hole in the wall bar who offers food as a promo just to have customers watch the game at their bar. At the end of our meal our server asked if we wanted any desserts.... we thought about and said no. We're already disappointed we don't want to leave the restaurant pissed off. Total bill $80 ... a bad experience and wasted time. If I could give no stars I would be satisfied. Will I recommend this place definitely NOT. What did I learn from this? We should have just waiting in line at Texas road house if we wanted to eat steak.

I remember coming here for their center cut pork chop and not being able to finish it since the portions were so huge, especially since I tried to make room for dessert. This time around I just got the dessert to go, and weirdly enough..it wasn't as good as I had remembered. Maybe the recipe changed? The crust was the best part, it was still thick but not as sweet as I remember. I guess It's a place I wont be craving anymore =(

Today was about to go waaayyy downhill... but Bartender Bob got our train rolling properly on the tracks before it derailed. First, we were seated at a small booth, and with 3 adults plus the baby, the carseat, the diaper bag, etc., it was going to be a little cramped. So I asked the nice-looking, mixed? gentleman seating us if we could have the longer booth right next to the table he had offered us. This no-customer-service-having man / hostess straight up said "No. Those are reserved for larger groups." Mind you, THE RESTAURANT WAS EMPTY!!!! Second, our waitress, Rainy (sp? But, yes, that's her name), refused to put in our order for happy hour hot wings. I requested that she ask the mgr for an exception since we weren't even offered a table in the happy hour section. She left, didn't ask the mgr, and instead returned to tell me that the reason she couldn't do it was bc she needed a special card to swipe when placing the order. Uhhmm, okay? We decided to go order from the bartender ourselves as a to-go order and take it back to our table. "Bob the Bartender" was suuuuper cool!! Took the order, added it to our tab with our server, and he personally delivered it to our table!!!! Hence, the 4-stars rather than only 2 or 3. That's some awesome customer service, and shows his skill in dealing with people and going the extra mile to make each person's visit great!!!! Our main entrees took about 25 minutes to come out, but they were delicious! Another save on the overall rating. We ordered the Chicken sandwich and the French Dip, both from the lunch menu, and from the dinner menu, the Twin Filet Mignon.

Usually good food but overpriced in my opinion. Come here to eat every so often with my wife. Majority of the time we order to go but maybe every few months we go in and eat. The outside looks a little beaten up by the sun but the inside is decorated pretty nicely and is clean everytime we go in. The food here is USUALLY pretty good. Not always though. Usually I get the Whiskey Peppercorn Sirloin and its good. My wife gets their pasta most of the time and likes it. All of the food seems like its a few dollars overpriced to me though. Last night we ordered to go and tried to eat healthy and get some salads. I got their Citrus Chicken salad and she got the Chicken Caesar. When we got home we realized that they didn't give us any chicken for her salad. Then my salad had avocado on it but it had obviously gone bad. Luckily the avocado was to the side and I could just scoop it off. I called a few times throughout the rest of the night to see if they could make up for not giving us the chicken we paid for somehow but everytime I called I got a busy signal. And now I feel stupid calling the next day about food we ordered the day before lol. One experience isn't going to stop us from coming in every so often but hopefully it doesn't happen again. Check your food before you leave! Lol

Probably one of the worst places I've ever eaten at. Maybe I'm just spoiled by good restaurants in Sonoma county. But, this place has bad salmon very fishy, the steak is like brisket but they didn't explain that it would be like that when several of us ordered it. We were a big group so service was VERY slow. There was 14 of us and at least 3 of the entrees came out wrong. 3 were sent back because they tasted terrible, there was a fly in my drink,...most of the meal ended up getting comped. It took an hour to get our first appetizer served. Just bad in so many ways. We did enjoy the cheesecake though! Will never go back to this place!

I really like coming here for Happy Hour. The appetizers range in price from $2.99 to $3.99 and the beer comes in a very large glass. You can't beat the price and the food is good. I love the hamburger for $3.99 and the fried onions.

When I got the money and the craving for some good steak I always head to this place I ordered the twin filets wrapped in bacon, a baked potato, and string beans. This was sooo filling and it was delicious! The meat was cooked perfectly for both filets and had a piece of garlic butter on the top adding some extra flavor! The baked potato was busting out with the topping the waitress put on it and the string beans were string beans. Veggies suck anyways I would recommend you check out this place if you are in Vacaville and want to get some steak Steak and a baked potato!

3.5 round up for the steak.. totally random find, we wanted to shop in vacaville and take a pit stop before going home. the decor was very interesting, reminded me of applebees we ordered spinach artichoke dip- actual pieces of artichoke lol. but not bad got the ribeye and shrimp- i think it was ribeye....but it was really good! juicer and tastier than the fancy place in reno! the shrimp was good over rice which was nice. really enjoyed my dinner. tad bit salty prime rib- bf got it, large piece, pretty juicy. overall very satisfying

Five of us stopped in one Monday afternoon on our way through town. Well, it was just me and the hub for a good 30 minutes while the rest of our group continued to shop. We sat at the bar thinking it was empty and probably the best place to be to get decent service. Heh. Yeah, right. Service was slow for the two of us, and when the other three members of our group came in, it just got worse. I think we ordered everything off the happy hour menu. The deals were pretty good, but the quality of food was sub par. The shrimp was all right, interesting idea, decent flavor. Sometimes a cold beer and some good cheesy fries are all I require...I needed a bit more this time, but was disappointed. Oh well. Nachos were a bit burnt on the outside and the cheese was not gooey, more like baked onto individual chips. Maybe the plate stayed in the oven a couple minutes too long. Wah. We didn't get very much, but we were pretty much one of the two groups in the bar area! I guess service doesn't apply when there are so few people. It took us about an hour (plus the extra time my husband and I sat at the bar on our own) for everyone to get a beer and maybe a couple of appetizers. Too bad. Definitely will not be coming back to Tahoe Joe's Famous Steakhouse. Sorry. :(

Starting with the positives... The service was pretty good here. The waitress was attentive, patient and offered information to help make a decision. The salads and clam chowder were also good. The 2 pork chops were huge. They were also very tasty, not hard dry lumps but moist and flavorful. Mashed potato and green beans was tasty. The so-so's.... The bread rolls were ok, they were the hottest bread rolls ever. Too hot to hold! They were a little too doughy. The sirloin steaks were ok, not great but not bad by any means. The BBQ ribs were good but for the price you get hardly any in the combo so that's an ok to me. The jacket potato was ok, good toppings but the potato itself was possibly a little suspect. The bad.... The ribeye steak was the worst ribeye I've had for a long long time. It was cooked as requested as was medium rare but the age and quality of meat was severely lacking. This was noticeable when you come to chew the steak. Usually it is juicy an tender with a melt in the mouth feel. This place was chewy and dry. Not good for a supposed steakhouse. Shame as this place could have been good as opposed to ok overall, the ribeye gets 1 star for cooking as requested but that's the only plus.

I was starting to be disappointed when I got my salad. All iceberg, non of the mixed greens I was sold on... Then came my entree. Grilled chicken with peppercorn sauce, mash potatoes and green beans. The chicken was cooked just right, and that sauce was delicious. The mashed potatoes were definitely made in house and were a treat. The green beans were cooked with bacon and onions the same way I would make them. The portions were good. I hate throwing away good but usually do just because the portions are huge. Overall very satisfied.

Ok..the only reason why this place gets 1 star is a. Because yelp makes me and b. because the waitress was fairly pleasant. Other than those reasons this place was HORRIBLE! I hate giving places 1-star but this was by far the worst dinner my husband and I have had in a very long time! We were greeted by a friendly hostess and sat within the 5-minute time frame she gave us. Our waitress was pleasant, not overaly happy but not rude either. We ordered our drinks and appetizer. The onion straws came out and were good, not great but average and they worked. Next our ceasar salad, this is where the meal went from medium to downhill FAST! My husband took the first bite and instantly said "all I taste is fish!" Ok yes we know what ceasar dressing is made of but honestly the salad smelt like rotting FISH and tasted like it to! I'm wondering if the whole tube of anchovie paste was placed in just our salad dressing, that's how horrible it was. I barely managed to eat a piece of lettuce and sent it back. Onto the meal, which we waited for over 40 minutes for because our waitress was busy flirting w/ a group of guys a couple tables away from us. I ordered the Sierra Mountain ribs, plate came out, fries were burnt, dry, and soggy, I'm assuming they sat under the heating lamp for too long because the waitress was busy flirting. The ribs were barely luke warm and the bbq sauce tasted like something out of the jar. I could have easily made this meal w/ a crockpot and some store bought bbq sauce from the $1 store. The husband ordered the sirloin steak w/ a baked potatoe and green beans. It started out ok until he got to the middle of the steak, dry, dry, and DRY! The green beans were soggy, they were obviously over cooked or sat in the water too long. His baked potatoe was just ok, nothing to mention, Carl's Jr. makes their baked potatoes just as good if that gives you an idea of how good it was. This was probably the worst $70 we've EVER spent on a meal. I don't know if its that we've spoiled ourselves w/ fine dine steakhouses or what but I can't EVER bring myself to step into this place again which is sad because 8 years ago my then boyfriend now husband took me here for our first date and I remember it being amazing. Obviously things have gone downhill in 8 years. Do yourselves a favor, save your $$ and go somewhere, ANYWHERE else than this place, you'll be glad you did

Tonight after hours of outlet shopping it was time to eat. We headed next door to Tahoe Joe's with no expectations except for a possible blow-out from my 1 yr old. We were pleasantly surprised that there was no wait to get a table and we were greeted right away from our server. She quickly noted our hurry with the kids and during dinner would come by with toys, food to play with, and items that kept our table peaceful for over an hour while we ate. The food was good, the bread great, vegetables great, steak was a little overdone for our taste, but OK. However, our server Alex made the stop well worth coming, and we will return again during our next outlet endeavor. Finding service like that nowadays is so rare and appreciated! Thanks Alex!

Best Cheesecake I ever tasted, the crust was just perfect, the sweet taste was addictive. I always try any restaurant that has cheesecake on their dessert menu and this is by far my favorite.... But other than the awesomeness of the Cheesecake, I had the Crab Cakes for the appetizers and they were tasty , as well as the green salad. My friend had the Joe's Steak with mashed potatoes and green beans, he seem to enjoy it since he cleared his entire plate but I did get a chance to taste a little of each thing on his plate and it was quite delicious . The bread rolls were great, they were hot, very hot as in I couldn't even hold them in my hand and I enjoyed them that way,it made it easier for the butter to melt within. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Our waiter was fun and very informative on the menu and letting us know about the great deals they were offering. I had a great time here and I must say that their perfect slice of cheesecake stole my heart and I will be back!!

So on our way to Lake Tahoe we decided to grab something to eat.Wishing I had a laptop with me to yelp a decent place to go,we decided to stop here. Not being a fan of chain restaurants, this place looked the most descent.I had been to the one in pleasant hill years back but couldnt quite remember how it was. It 's got the nice cabin decor thing going on,very homey. They handed us the lunch menu witch I seriously could barely find anything that looked good.Starving and wanting to get back on the road we ended up both ordering a smoked chicken salad, with cadied pecans ,feta cheese, cranberies and semi sweet vinagrette typical salad they have just about everywhere. I t suprisingly was very good, chicken had a great smoked flavor, and the spinage had a nice color and texture to it,the overall salad had a great taste and was satifying. Unfortuanatly, the service was really bad, taking the fact that it was not that busy ,our waitress was not the most attentive and kept forgetting things. I cant say I will visit again, but it is better than other chain resaurants at least as far as the salads go.

I've eaten at TJ's before in Pleasant Hill, but this was my first time at the Vacaville location and we only ate at the bar. We came on a busy football filled Sunday afternoon. All of the bar booths and stand alone table we're taken, so we sat at the bar. The 2 bartenders were slammed, so it took a while for them to get to us. Once they did, they made sure frequently that we were doing ok. We each ordered the house margarita, and I don't know if it was b/c the bartender was making it in front of us, but it was excellent. The next 2 we ordered were of same quality. We ordered the happy hour portion of the nachos, and it was perfect size for 2 to share. It came piled with cheese, tomatoes, refried beans, sour cream and guac. I would definitely come back here, but probably not on an afternoon where 3 football games are going on at the same time.

Ate here past night for the first time. Service was good. Ordered ribs with a salad, and they had nerve to charge an addl 1.50 for baked potato to sub for fries (which was also covered in rock salt). Ribs were mediocre due tho sodium content. Also added lobster tail, awful garbage rubber salty and a rip off. Tried the crab cakes appetizer, came cold but we're ok with he exception of being SALTY. Lay off the SALT and make real food with flavor. Not sure why this place is famous. Overpriced mediocre food. Will stay away from it. I suppose their busy due all the outlet shoppers.

Came here for my son's bday. We called ahead to make our wait shorter. When we got there we were seated right away. Our server NATALYA was great. Very attentive. What we ordered: Ponderosa, Ribeye, NY Strip and kids ribs. ALL were delicious. Their cheesecake is yummy. It's a must have.

We've stopped here twice coming back from Tahoe. Hey, why not? End the daytrip with the restaurant with the name "Tahoe." I ordered their special Mahi Mahi with baked potatoes fully dressed and steamed vegetables. When our server told me that it'd be charbroiled, I was a little nervous that it would be come back with a lot of burn marks. In fact, it wasn't! The Mahi was cooked perfectly with good seasoning. It wasn't too salty either. The baked potato was HUGE! Since it was a special, my dish came with soup or salad. I chose soup, because my husband ordered a great salad. I had their SOD, broccoli cheese. I typically never get creamy soups, but since it's winter... I thought I'd try it out (it's not like I eat creamy soups everyday!). I dipped warm rolls in the thick soup. We enjoyed it more as an appetizer. It was delicious! My husband's shrimp salad was also delicious! I'm sure he'll post about it, but I just wanted to comment that they didn't skimp on the tempura shrimps. And they were fried but not greasy. They stayed crispy and hot. I loved them! The salad dressing was soy sauce-based with hint of ginger and sesame oil. I'll probably order this next time. Our server (forgot his name) was really nice. He made sure that we had plenty of water (dehydrated from a day of snowboarding). We was very casual and easy to make requests. He personally dressed my potato to my liking. Thanks! i also loved how they put the groups in front of the restaurant by the bar. Because they were louder than rest of the restaurant, I was glad that the management has the bigger groups aside so that they can be rowdy without bothering the smaller parties. We'll come back here rather than eating @ one of those typical franchises.

I prefer Tahoe Joe's over Texas Roadhouse. When on a date night the dinner for two deal can't be beat and we are stuffed after the appetizer. It's a great deal and we have fun in the cabin setting. The service is great, not too many disappointing moments, but try it out for yourself!

We went New Year's Eve and went early. Service was friendly and quick. Salad was fresh and the fresh, hot sour dough rolls were awesome. The steaks were tender, cooked perfect, sides were great. I had the mountain mashers and they were so good, better than home made! Husband had a baked potato with all the goodies and it was huge! The green beans were great, cooked but still had a little crunch....I had a frozen chocolate, baileys drink that was soooo goooood! Husband had a heffeweitzen beer on tap and really enjoyed it. We were too full for desert but I saw a few being delivered that looked awesome! We used to be Outback junkies but the quality has gone down. Glad we found Tahoe Joe's because it blows Outback out of the water!

Our first time at Tahoe Joes. Our waitress was lovely and helpful. The food was mostly inedible. I asked about their Railroad Camp Shrimp, which sounded great. A woman at the next table chimed in that it was her favorite and she recommended the salad version. As we waited for out food, that same woman's salad arrived and after a bite or two called the waitress over. Her shrimp was so over cooked, she couldn't eat it. I expressed some concern about mine and the waitress said she would check on it. My friend's Buffalo Wings arrived in the meantime. The wings were too salty and the sauce on them so sour it was necessary to dip them in the ranch dressing to eat them. Served with carrot sticks and celery, those were the best part of the meal. When my salad arrived, the look was so different from the menu, I was concerned. The breading was hard and the shrimp way overcooked and inedible. Our waitress was very sorry. Our neighbor, a regular here, thought the bad food might be due to a large birthday party being served at the same time. But the restaurant is large, and looks like a crowd shouldn't throw them. When describing the salad our waitress mentioned it came with 10 pieces of strip. Our neighbor mentioned hers came with 8. Mine arrived with 7. Had it been edible that would be enough, but not when you expect 10. I hope this was just an off day. We won't be back to find out.

Visited restaurant 11-19 - were not busy, many empty tables. We were seated by the hostess and I showed her a coupon for two entrees. I asked her if this also worked with their soup and bread combo. She did not know and told me to ask the server. We waited and waited and waited for the server.....After almost 15 minutes with no server/waitress, we walked out and will never return.

We had the dinner for two and the food is wonderful. The 10 oz Joe's steak is indeed a large piece. We want the steak to be done in medium well. This is the best medium well steak we ever encountered. The meat is moist and not red at all. Sometimes, we've seen the meat either too raw, or overcooked to become chewing gum. But this place never disappoints me. The deal also include a big appetizer and a dessert. We had the pan seared calamari steak. It was very fresh and cooked just right. The dessert is also very good. Each person also get either a salad or soup. The soup may be different depending on which day of the week you visit. I remembered Clam Chowder is offered usually on Saturday. This time we visited on Sunday and the soup choice is chicken pot pie soup which you can imaging it is like a chicken pot pie dipped in a chicken chowder soup. It is done extremely well. The dinner for two comes with $20.99 per person. With so much food and the quality of the dishes, It is really well worth it. The service is also very professional and polite. Definitely a big plus.

Been to TJ's in pleasant hill & Vacaville., (same thing). Food is consistently above average for a corporate restaurant. Service is friendly and pleasant, the Vacaville location has some gorgeous girls, that always makes the food taste better. Hated the calamari, the waitress noticed we didn't eat it and surprised us by taking it off of our bill. Good reliable service, clean environment, and consistently decent food. Love the large frosted beer mugs and they have Coors Light on tap. Be a good "joe" and check this place out, good vibes.

In Vacaville once again over Mother's Day weekend & contemplating where to take Mom to dinner, I suggested Tahoe Joe's & Mom agreed. I figured Tahoe Joe's was probably decent & I had a coupon for a complimentary appetizer or dessert, so why not? Along with the girlfriend, we all arrived late afternoon-ish hoping to be ahead of the evening dinner rush. With open parking spaces near the front door & only 1 group waiting inside ahead of us, all seemed to be going to plan. Despite this, visibly open tables & a general slow feeling, we were told it would be about 15-20 minutes. Strange, but we opted to wait. We were seated about 15-20 minutes later. Our server was competent & nice. To start out, the girlfriend & I both ordered a Sierra Mary. We also ordered Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes & Pan Seared Calamari appetizers. For entrees, the girlfriend & I decided on the Dinner for Two & Mom picked the 10 oz. Joe's Steak. Bread rolls & water arrived at our table quickly but the drinks & appetizers took a while. Again, strange, as it wasn't particularly slammed. Somewhat busy perhaps, but not slammed. There just seemed to be an air of lethargy. Once the appetizers did show up, the rest of the food continued to roll out in a timely manner with the entrees coming just as we finished our appetizers. As for what we got, when we did get it? The bread rolls were OK, nothing special. The Sierra Mary's were somewhat bland with weak horseradish & lacked the flavor of a seriously good Bloody Mary. The Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes were OK, but were more breading & less crab. The Pan Seared Calamari was surprisingly really good & quite enjoyable. For my half of the Dinner for Two, I had clam chowder, the 8 oz. Prime Rib rare & a Big Baked Potato. The clam chowder was nice & creamy with flavorful clam bits. The Prime Rib, while cooked rare properly, was just OK. It didn't have the tenderness or flavor that makes exceptional Prime Rib so heavenly. The horseradish for the Prime Rib, just like the horseradish in the Sierra Mary, was a disappointment. Maybe Tahoe Joe's management figures that their average patron does not appreciate a bold, assertive horseradish. The Big Baked Potato, served with choice of any/ all condiments added table-side at the time of service, was yummy & a highlight. We wrapped things up with a slice of Nevada Cheesecake for dessert. The cheesecake was pretty good with a thick crust that I liked. Most of the food was decent with a couple items being delicious & a couple items not so much. Altogether, it was a whole bunch of food. We all ate our fill & still each took home enough for lunch for the next day. Considering the sheer mass of food served, the final tab was low. Because the food, on the whole, wasn't bad & the overall value was good, I was split on 3 or 4 star rating for Tahoe Joe's. The strange sluggishness & inexplicable waiting, though, swayed my rating to 3 stars.

My dad and I were on a road trip from Salt Lake to San Jose and needed to find a place for dinner - we found the menu online and stopped in, and we are both so glad we did! The service was incredible and attentive, the food was outstanding, the portions were outrageous (in the best way!), and the price is pretty perfect. The porkchops are the greatest thing on Earth. Can't wait to come here again!

The first time I came, I ordered the grilled chicken salad that came with baby greens, vinagrette and gorgonzola cheese & the cheese cake. I ordered to go. Although service was slow, the food was fantastic. This time? Not so much. Went with the folks for some good steak. We ordered the tempura shrimp (rail road shrimp) appetizer. I have one word that would describe it: yuck! The crust was not like tempura at all (fluffly, light and melts in your mouth) Instead it consisted of ROCK hard bits and a chewy like consistency, as if it had been stuck in the microwave. The manager was nice and replaced our order, but this one was only hotter, gooeir, and sauced up version of the previous one. The server recc the calamari. It was one LARGE flat piece cut into strips. It was just "okay". Nothing I would need to order again. The family meals were better, but we werent served any bread rolls until I asked for them, and then they were par baked at that! My skewer meal was good. Good huge hunks of steak and onions and peppers. BUT rice pilaf looked OLD and was salty and the green beans were salty too. Hubbster liked the gbeans though. He said his pork chop was dry, but liked his mashed potatoes. I didnt get much comment from my folks about the salmon and the ribs and steak combo. The ribs were left unfinished and the steak too. Which says alot considering my dad LOVES his meat. Our table was left full of empty, dirty dishes, so we had nowhere to put our take home boxes or enjoy dessert, which was still awesome by the way. The three stars is solely for the cheesecake. Service was mediocre at best (maybe she was new?, bc the restaraunt was NOT full by any means) maybe she was covering for other peops? Seating was awkward too, it took about 15 minutes. but there were DOZENS of empty tables. the food & service is so-so. The GNO drink is delicious! the cheesecake is fab.

Originally my SO and I came here for dinner cause I had a gift card. Overall my experience here was alright. The decore is done in a lazy western theme with old style paintings on the walls, cowhide lamp shades but they have big screen tvs. The hostess we had was nice but the other one working looked like she could careless if she was there. Our waitress was nice and attentive. The food was alright. I got a combo with a filet roast, ribs, beans, fires and veggies. Both my meal and my SO cams with bread and salad. Salad was standard and fresh, beans were yummy, filet was good but over done for my taste, ribs were fall off the bone good and fries were standard of the frozen variety. My SO got the prime rib and he sad it was good but wished they had service real horseradish and not the creamy kind. Overall not too bad, but nothing special that makes me want to make a special trip here.

Have again: Filet mignon and green beans are wonderful. Baked potato and clam chowder are also delicious. Both times I have come there has been a 50 minute wait, but no wait in the bar. OUR SERVER DANIELLE WAS FANTASTIC - ONE OF THE BEST SERVERS IN A LONG TIME. Thank you, Danielle, and because of you this review is 5 stars instead of 4.

First off this is one of the worst place to eat in Solano County. The waitress Ashely (ASS HOLE DUMMY) seats us my daughter and I down and ask us our drinks. I she ask if I would like salt on my maragarita ? I said NO. guess what the dummy bring me a glass full of salt and smiles, so then she takes our order .I only ordered appetizer shrimp,my daughter order a Cheesburger and fries thats it. 30 to 40 minutes pass by no food or no Dummy Ashley at the table to tell us anything.by this time I alerted dummy hey wheres the food she say oh I will check on it. then she come back and says it takes a while to cook a well done burger. it should be ready shortly and walks off Wow r you serious... then I got up went back by the kitchen demanded a manager by this time all the other partons who came after me had already had there food. I spoke to the manager who seemed clueless and said I will check he comes back and say o I'm sorry the food was never order.Unbelieveable DUMB ASS ASHLEY NEVER ORDER THE DAMM FOOD AND LIED..I was so freaking mad . then the manager brings the food out and say we don't have to pay for the food who gives a crap about that . MR MANAGER I CAME HERE FOR SERVICE NOT FREE FOOD U NEED TO FIRE THAT DUMB, DITZY,STUPID GIRL. YELPERS NEVER EAT AT THE PLACE...

The best way to dine from here is To-Go and that is only to get two things: Railroad Shrimp and the Cheesecake. The service here is awful, the female waitresses are moody and inattentive. The meats are always tasteless and not cooked right. The settings can be dirty as well. There is a reason why this place is dead now and it's due to the tasteless food and horrible service. I will add the several times I have had food To-Go it was very efficient and the staff have always been pleasant.

On our recent visit to Tahoe Joe's, to celebrate my daughter's birthday, we had the utmost pleasure of having Jesi as a server. Jesi is the most competent and friendliest server we have encountered in a LONG time. Jesi was extremely knowledgeable with the menu and her recommendations of appetizers and choices of beers was spot on. Fabulous! When we were ready to place our order, Jesi asked if we needed hot water for my 9 month old grandson...Wow! Needless to say, we had a lovely dinner, as always, everything was delicious. Jesi topped the evening for us with her warmth and enthusiasm. Tahoe Joe's has a real gem! Thank you!

We and another couple eat at Tahoe Joe's about once a month. It may not be the best restaurant in Vacaville, but its one of the best values and reliably consistent. If you sign up for their birthday club, they send you coupons throughout the year for either free appetizers or free dessert. So we always have coupons. And they'll let you use more than one. I usually order one of the salmons or the roasted chicken. I always enjoy my meal. My favorite appetizer is not even on the menu! They're called "Brave Hearts," deep fried artichoke hearts with a dip. Mmm. Another great feature they don't advertise is free corking. We always bring two bottles of wine from home and they open the bottles, provide the glasses, and pour it for free! I noticed that some reviewers criticized the service, but our servers have always been friendly and attentive. For a chain restaurant, I give Tahoe Joe's five stars.

We stopped at Tahoe Joe's for a quick lunch before shopping at the outlets. We didn't have to wait for a table and thought the service was prompt. My husband ordered the chicken strips. Nothing special. I ordered the Railroad Camp Shrimp Salad. It's supposed to be shrimp tempura on top of lettuce, peanuts, and a Cucumber Vinaigrette. Every single element of the salad was wrong! They must have some disgruntle employees in the kitchen. The lettuce was swimming in at least a 1/2 inch of dressing pooled at the bottom of the plate. There must have been 1/2 a cup of peanuts in the small salad. I must have had 3 peanuts per bite. All I could taste were the peanuts. And then there were the "tempura" shrimp. I'm sure at one point they were tempura shrimp. Instead of light and slightly crispy, it was HARD and crunchy. I've never had such hard tempura. I didn't think it was possible. On the bright side, the Sprite was good.

Excellent steak. I'm not normally a beef-eater but was craving a good steak on a drive up to Tahoe and my husband found this place on Yelp. The rib-eye was the best steak either one of us had eaten in a restaurant. Good quality meat and cooked exactly how I asked. While I tried to avoid most of my sides. they were delicious :-) And the salad was quite yummy too. Not your typical bowl of lettuce with a few tomatoes or something else thrown in for color. I would definitely go back to Tahoe Joe's. My only negative was the bathrooms were very messy (garbage, water on floor, etc.) But it was late Friday night so maybe just too busy. UPDATE: Went back here last night (5/17) and the food was just as good! Plus the bathrooms were clean - yay! So the above late Friday night was probably just them being too busy :-)

Best service and best food we've had at a chain! I could write a super long review, but I'll try to sum it up! We had the steak nachos first- OMG so, so, so good! The steak was so tender and perfect, the flavor combo in the nachos was perfect! We both ordered arnold palmers to drink. My husband had six...they were so good! Then salad- I didn't really like mine, so my hubby ate it, and I took his mixed greens salad- it was like feta cheese and cranberries and spinach or something- amazing! Then came dinner! I had a sirloin (I think?) and OMG it was smoked and delicious, perfectly cooked- I like mine at medium-rare. Hubby had prime rib and his was perfect as well! Baked potatoes/mashed potatoes were a hit as well. The baby really enjoyed the mashed potatoes. Our 3-year old has been really picky lately so we just cut him bites of everything we had and he devoured my steak. YUM! Last we had cheesecake. Our amazing server (she was blonde and extremely accommodating and friendly!) brought it out along with a small dish of warm sundae fudge. Holy shite. Like, WOW. Omg, I've never had such a tasty dessert at a restaurant, ever. She said you have to ask for the chocolate but most people don't know that so she brought it for us automatically. It was amazing. It was the first place we stopped at on a 2-week road trip and it really set the bar high!

This is a decent chain restaurant. I had to observe, however, that it is named "Tahoe Joe's", but they have no locations anywhere near Tahoe! In any case, it is a good steakhouse, with decent cuts of meat, and a decent set of side dishes. I like this place better than Cattlemen's, which is the only other game in the area as far as I know! Not very haute couture, but it'll serve your need for a large quantity of meat and sides!

Had dinner here 2 weeks after they opened, 10 years are so ago. It was terrible, they had no clue how to cook a steak. Well my wife talked me into giving them another try last night. The appetizers were ok , crab cakes and seared tuna. seared tuna was way over peppered. The drinks were around 7-10$ each. So we splurged and both got the filet cut and lobster. The filet was way to salty. The bacon around it was burnt to a crisp and the cuts were flavorless when you got past the salty outside . NOW FOR THE LOBSTER. I took a bite of mine and thought maybe something was wrong with my taste buds. So i let my wife take a bite. She turned instantly green and almost lost her appetizer. They were rotten. spoiled, they smelled so bad and tasted like they sat on the floor for a week. The staff and everyone agreed and could not believe they sent it out. The table next to us could smell the lobster it was so rank. I asked for the manager as soon as the waitress came back. i told him about the lobster handed it to him and told him to smell it. he said " i have sinus issues and can not smell" After that we could not eat another thing. We did get our dinners taken off the bill. But a bottle of wine some other drinks and appetizers were around $90 bucks. Here it is the next morning and we are both not feeling well at all. No idea if it is from the lobster or not. Time will tell. On a good note. The wait staff was extremely friendly and nice. that is 2 strikes for me, I wont be going back. Much better places to eat in the area.

3 stars knocked of for their CRAP service when seating! Valentines day dinner started off so bad for me and my bf at this place! so here's the story: we call ahead at around 5:30 to let them know we're on the way. they tell us that once we arrive, we can check in, and they'll bump us up the list. We get there around 6:00ish. LONG ASS LINE just to put your name down. so we don't actually check in until 6:20. Everyone at the check in desk looks all frazzled! Esp the manager. (You would think with the manager spearheading things, front of house/seating would run smoother) BUT NO! this man seemed so incompetent and not the best suited to deal w/ the high volume of valentine love birds dining here for dinner. well anyway, the lady at the front (by the way they have 3 ppl maning the front. 2 hostesses and the manager) tells us we'll be seated in about 35 mins. ok cool. that works for me. so after about 40 minutes of waiting i noticed that couples and families arriving after me were getting seated before me! I HATE THAT! so my bf goes and asks what's going on, and they tell him it's going to be another 15-20 min (having already waited about 40 mins!). my bf and I are already ticked off at this point. and HUNGRY! FINALLY they seat us at 7:38. 1 hour and 18 min wait!!! WHAT THE CRAP MAN?! i don't mind waiting an hour if i'm told up front that that's how long it's going to be. but after calling ahead (which is "supposedly" suppose to shorten wait time) and seeing other ppl who checked in AFTER me get seated BEFORE me, I was at my wits end. (and tell my why our lil buzzer thing didn't buzz to tell us we've waited our share?! what kind of ship do these guys think they're running?!?!) Poor waitress listened to my bf and my frustrations and leant a sympathetic ear. everything after the whole seating fiasco was great. food was tasty and on time and HOT. however, after such a horrible first experience to our dinner service, I don't think i'll be coming here again. I mean c'mon, w/ the manager there, I didn't expect to be treated this way at this establishment. i know it's valentines, by dang...the manager and the 2 other ppl there could have been "managing" the seating better. afterwards, the manager thanked us for our patronage as we walked out of the restaurant. The bf was too pissed to acknowledge him. Tahoe Joes in Vacaville, you've left a bitter taste in my mouth. you're juciy steaks won't save you on this review!

The food here is good. They bring you warm sourdough dinner rolls to start, the chicken pot pie soup that they serve on Sunday's is really good and the steaks and wood grill bbq chicken (white meat only) are pretty good. As for side dishes you can get vegetables or potatoes (baked, french fried or mashed). The place is decorated like a cabin and they bring you your drinks in glass canning jars. The portions tend to be pretty generous so you can get a combo and share it if you're not super hungry or if you tend to fill up on bread. The wait to be seated can be long on weekends (20-45min), but they have a call ahead service that will put you on the list before you get there and reduce your wait time. They have take out service and reserved parking for take out pick up.

We come here every Thursday for their Happy Hour specials before heading to Stars for league night (I know, NERDS). The service at the bar may be slow at times, but the $3.99 1/2 lb. burger is great and they WILL cook it rare if you ask for it. The burger's my favorite, but they also offer cheese fries, sliders, shrimp and more along with cheap beers. Great value!

We were coming home from Reno and were having a MAJOR case of the yeet-hay's. Sigh. I woke up from a nap in the car and was really groggy/disoriented and although we were not hungry, it was dinnertime and we needed sustenance to finish our trip home. As we exited, we saw Mel's and Tahoe Joe's and decided to try something new since two of us hadn't been here before. We walked in and there wasn't really people waiting and I saw tables available, but they said the wait would be around 15-20 mins. I made a trip to the restroom during the wait and it was just plain disgusting in there! The floor was so wet! When I came out, I noticed my party was already seated in the bar area b/c there was no wait at the tables there. And guess what? Almost no service too. We waited forever to have someone come by to give us a menu, then to take our order, then to bring us drinks (even water...), then bring me place settings, then get our food, etc. The service was really, really slow. The good thing about this place is that they have cheesy texas toast! And it's VERY good here! I opted to have my burger made with the cheesy texas toast and ended up only eating the toast b/c I didn't have an appetite. It was delicious! We also ordered appetizers from the happy hour menu and they were SO cheap but the portions were SO big --- we had so many boxes of food to take home that night. For a chain-like restaurant, I would say their food here is pretty good. And the texas toast is definitey a BIG hit here for me! The fact that you can get it on a sandwich or burger is a huge plus for me, and very decadent! The rest of my party enjoyed their dishes as well. The service was extremely slow and inattentive so I would say don't sit in the bar area if you want a sit-down meal and/or don't care for the appetizers from the HH menu (they are good though!). P.S. PLEASE keep your restrooms clean :(

This is the only "steak house" this Vegetarian here actually wants to go to. I go for the following: 1) The "wet and dry" salad. Heavenly! It's Italian dressing on a garden salad with crumbles of blue cheese on the top. 2) The hot bread with Challenge brand butter. 3) Strawberry lemonade. Some of the best I've had, served in a big mug that's almost too large to finish, but I manage to find a way since it's so delicious. 4) The salt crusted baked potato with mounds of sour cream, more challenge butter and chives. Yum. The rest of it I could care less about, but those items... I sometimes crave and ask my husband to take me. He never complains because then he can get some steak. Sometimes the wait can be fairly long on the weekends, but if you don't mind waiting, it's worth it for a very un-healthy, but very delicious non-meat meal.

Had dinner here last night. The food was good and our server was attentive, but that is the only good thing of the night. When first entering, we were told for a party of 2, there was a 10-15 minute wait. Great! I was surprised as it was a Saturday nite and they seemed busy, but the hostess assured us the wait was that short. Well, 35 minutes later we were finally seated after watching the Mgr yell at the hostess and greeter not seating people fast enough and seeing him start taking people out of order to just get them in. The family sitting next to us had been waiting 45 minutes and were getting ready to blow. They were finally seated in the bar area. I ordered the Steak Sandwich and it came quickly but my husbands Mahi Mahi took an extra 20 minutes to show! The fish was basically thrown on the plate with a double helping of broccoli. No rice as advertised, nothing. He ate it because he was hungry, but we couldn't shake the feeling that maybe it was someone else's order. I took off three stars, for three reasons. #1-The Ladies bathroom was a freakin mess. All the towels were all over the floor, trashcan overflowing and water everywhere. No toilet paper in the stalls (GREAT!) The one roll of towels that missed getting thrown, was on the counter soaking up water. Gross! I told a girl outside about the condition of the bathroom and she replied, 'Oh yeah, we know, but we don't clean it until closing----!' #2-A large party of 10 vacated the tables near us. The two busboys took their time cleaning up, instead focusing on talking about college in Chico, which girls put out and how they hate their jobs. They only wiped down 1 table (there were 3 stuck together) and left fries and crumbs on the other two. Silverware wrapped in napkins was just tossed down. #3-The Mgr comes up to those two tables to put them together for another group, looks at the mess, swipes his hand over it, then puts the silverware straighter on the table and goes back to get the group to seat them. So much for cleanliness! All in all, I won't be coming back, no matter how good the food tasted. If they can't be bothered with simple cleanliness in the public areas, I shudder to think about how clean the kitchen is!!

For years, whenever my husband & I go to the outlets in Vacaville, we say, one of these days we're going to have to try Tahoe Joes. We finally went last week. Our server, Taly, gave us exceptional service - she could easily work in a fine dining establishment & do quite well in tips! The food was quite tasty. We shared the Railroad Camp Shrimp & the Wood Grilled Chicken. Both were very good. The shrimp is lightly battered - almost like a Tempura batter. The sauce is very tasty. The chicken was cooked perfectly and it was delicious. Look forward to returning in the near future.

Gasp! People have reviewed Tahoe Joe's in Vacaville? General tip: avoid anyplace that claims to be "famous." Bottom line: I want my arteries and my dignity back, in that order please. I challenge you to find anything here that isn't choppped off the flank of a mammal, deep fried, or covered in saturated-fat-based sauce. Not gonna happen. Most entrees are a combination of these factors, including a sandwich which I'll nickname "trinity of death." That being said, our server was a RIOT (totally redeemed a whole star for this place) - not unlike Jennifer Aniston's character in Office Space but male and charming. And though the quality of the food was questionable, it was damn tasty accross the board. It's just that I was full for 10 HOURS after I ate it, signaling that surely much of what I put in my mouth was not actually digestible. Try their bloody-mary's - they're really good and impressive-looking and will lube up your soul for the experience. Also, I suspect that among its ranks of restaurants with "famous" in the names as well as stakehouses of Outback notoriety and pricepoint, this is better than many. My recommendation for the city of Vacaville in general is to attempt to get all outlet shopping done and then drive home before you get hungry. But shopping can be a damn powerful hunger-inducer. Should you find yourself desperate, skip Tahoe Joe's and opt for BJ's. My recommendation for meeting your brother who lives in Sacramento for lunch is to forget the logic of meeting halfway .

I love this place! The steaks are delicious and the service is great. I've never had to wait a long time for my food, but I did have a less than enthusiastic server one time. But for the most part, I've always had a good experience.

Cool ambiance, you feel like you're in a cabin in the wilderness. Excellent service. My roomie and I both had the prime rib. I ordered mine medium rare and it came out really nice. Easy to slice and it just melted in my mouth. They have a good variety of side dishes.

I've been to this Tahoe Joe's location three or four times on separate occasions and have had wonderful food and service every single time. The wait can be long on the weekends and during dinner rush but it is completely worth it. The kitchen really knows how to cook the meat so it comes out exactly like how you order it. The ambiance is interesting with the cabin look and feel. Coming to a restaurant with consistency in their food is the way every restaurant should be....I can't wait to come back!

Me and my sister want our steak medium well but they gave us a very much well done the texture is so rubbery We did not enjoy our steak and I usually finish my steak but these 1 is for the record I hate a half of it,when I told the server she said that is medium well it's disappointing though the waitress is nice.

When I first came here, this place was DIVINE. The prime rib was thick, juicy and tender. But the second and third time I came here. . .the prime rib became mostly fat. Once you trim away all the lard, you only get a square of red meat left :[ One good thing about this place is that they have THE BEST strawberry lemonades. They definitely use fresh strawberries, because the seeds kept getting stuck inbetween my teeth, and they came in these glass jars that made it feel even more homemade. Overall, it's good quality meat for its price. . .but I wouldn't be going back again.

It was alright. We were there last night (Friday) from about 6:30 to 9. It was really nice that we didn't have to wait too long to be seated. We were there having a birthday dinner for my niece who was turning 15. There were 9 of us which I know slows things down a bit. The server, her name was Sarah, was really great. She put up with all of our lame jokes and was always smiling. They should have a Sarah at every restaurant! They have etch a scetches they hand out to the kids to use which is a great idea because they don't make a mess. It would still be nice if they had the little paper kids menu's though. I brought some markers for my daughter because 3 year olds have like a 3 second attention span and then they're bored, and we were out kind of late so she was tired. Sarah was nice enough to giver her a piece of paper out of her little notebook. Okay so 3 stars because I actually thought it was a little pricey. You can get pretty much the same thing up the freeway a little at Texas Road house for less. I had a meal that included the railroad shrimp and some ribs. I felt like the ribs could have been more tender but they tasted really good. I thought the shrimp had good flavor but there was something wrong with them. The batter was REALLY hard and rather hard to chew and the shrimp themselves had a weird texture like they either were cooked too long or maybe not as fresh as I'm used to getting from other places. On the same note though, my sister in law ordered the same thing and totally loved it. To each their own I guess. The beans that came with it were the best I've ever had. I loved them! My husband really liked the pork chops he had which was great because on the way he was telling me how he "hates" Tahoe Joe's because he's been there 3 times and "hated" it every time. I heard my Father in law say the clam chowder was really good and he's a super tough critic so it must have been! So the food could have been better, especially for the price, but the other reason for the 3 stars was the bathroom was super dirty. There was water all over the floor which I totally almost slipped and fell on. The garbage was over flowing with paper towels. People must have been kicking them as they walked in because paper towels were also all over the floor. I was in the bathroom probably like 10 times with my daughter over the 2 and a half hours we were there and it never did get cleaned. This isn't Mc Donald's you know? I expect a clean bathroom! So yeah, the food could stay the same and they could keep the place a little cleaner and bring the prices down just a bit, and I would give them 5 stars. Either that or the food would have to get better. I'll go back.

Ahhh Tahoe Joes... Probably the best steak you can get in the Vacaville area without breaking the bank TOO much... The best value to get here is the dinner for two deal they have that includes... (1) appetizer (2) soup or salads (BOMB clam chowder on Fridays BTW!) (2) steaks w/veggies & a choice of starches (1) cheesecake to share All for something like 50 bucks? A good deal indeed! Only gripe I have with Tahoe Joes is that they seem to have inconsistencies with their steaks. See, I'm a rib-eye type of guy, and to truly enjoy the divine essences of the great marbling you find in rib-eye, you get it medium-rare, that is, cooked and seared on the outside, with a warm red center... HEAVEN I TELL YA! Anyways, the couple times i've ordered my steaks medium-rare, i've got it ranging from seared outside and completely cool & RAW in the middle, to damn near well done consistencies with the center a dry greyish-brown :( They really need to work on that. Fellow yelpers, you have been warned... OHHH and that CHEESECAKE...!! zomg omg omg omg!! omg... thats some GOOOD shit son!

Forgotten lil' jem! Don't know why we always drive to Cattlemens this place is so much better. Dinner for two is a great value, with the seared calamari for a starter is sooo good! I had the prime rib with yummy mashed potatoes and Tung had the sirlion so much food we had to take our dessert home!

This has got to be one of my famous Steakhouses in Vacaville. I always try to go here whenever I get a chance. The food is amazing and the decor is very southern. I come here quite often, about every 3 weeks!

TAHOE NO's Where do I start? I have been here several time hoping that it will get better...never does. When they first opened here in Vacaville, I had no complaints, but as with most chain restaurants, once they have been here, they start to lose their lustre, start looking for ways to cut costs, and find it hard to recover from the deadly downward spiral... They seated us right away, but I thought I was in the nursery of a zoo when they herded us to the area where they place all the people with children, which just happened to be at the very very back of the restaurant. I hate it when restaurants do this, because it is so obvious. They make you ashamed of bringing in their future customers. The salad was watery. I mean great, they wash their lettuce, that's a plus, however, it is not visually appealing when your salad comes to you as a mushy pile of green that looks like it's been sitting in warm water for several hours. I want to taste vinaigrette, not water! Thankfully the steak was cooked ok. It's a steakhouse, so this is a good thing. The one downside was the amount of fat. I am pretty sure I found a hair in my bacon, and the veggies and rice tasted like it was from a can...they did replace the salad...still watery.

Wow! What a wonderful surprise. My husband, mother in law and I had steak & lobster, steak sandwich and bacon wrapped twin petite filets we had was incredible. We could not find a critique on anything except the fries were a little too salty for my mother in law. The place is beautiful, the service was fantastic. Other reviews were right, it's not cheap but each of us took home enough for another meal. I can't say enough good things.

We drove up to Vacaville Outlet for shopping, and decided to have local food there. We found Tahoe Joe's on yelp and decided to try it out. The first impression was the restaurant was really busy, which always mean the food must be good. We had to wait about 20mins, which wasn't too bad. I was worried about the service since it was very busy, and that hasn't always been a problem for many restaurants. We ordered: Appetizer: Jumbo shrimp cocktail ($8.99) Entree: 22oz T-bone ($26.99) - medium rare The shrimp cocktail was ok. Not the greatest I've ever had, and I would say the price is slightly steep for the quality. The T-bone was ok as well. Nothing fancy and wow about it. It was an order which could fill two stomachs. The restroom was a mess on the men's side. I guess they don't have time to clean it up. Would I go again?? If I can't find anything in that area, then the answer would be yes, otherwise I have to make a pass.

I've ate there twice. Both times the service was AWEFUL and SLOW! The steaks...there are no words to describe how bad there steaks are! I am from TX and a steak fanatic. I can handle a fair steak, but their's, you couldn't pay me to try another one! I ordered the Filet Mignon both times, and both times they were so dry(and I asked for medium rare), and rock hard I did something I never do. I asked them to please make me another one. Well, 45mins later it came out the same way! This was so embarrassing because I had to guest from out of town eating there also. They had Prime Rib, HA, what a joke! Neither one ate half. Needless to say I WILL NEVER GO BACK!

OK, what's not to like about this place? I went there after shopping at the Outlet Mall with my family. We were in the mood for steak and these steaks were excellent. They were prepared the way we asked them to be prepared, rare. So few places these days will actually make a truly rare steak. Most of the time if you ask for rare you'll get medium rare. No, the steaks we order were made rare preserving the true beef flavor with the correct balance of aging and spices to make these steaks some of the best I've had in a while. I can't say enough about our server. He was amazing. He was friendly. He had extremely helpful suggestions. I wish I could remember his name. He was extremely attentive. It's so rare to get customer service like this these days in California. He was pleasant even on a busy day where they seemed to be somewhat short staffed. So, if you are in Vacaville shopping, you crave a good steak, and you like them prepared rare, this place is for you.

This is my family's favorite restaurant, my son absolutely loves it! He gives it 5 stars. I give it 3, good customer service, good food but I don't think it's any thing extraordinary! So with my 3 stars and his five i'm giving it a total of 4. Fair enough?

It could've been a combination of it being my birthday, being with my boyfriend, the beautiful weather outside, the no line and quick service that made me so generous with this chain steakhouse. I mean it IS FAMOUS for a reason right? So unlike the usual massive waits without a reservation in good ol San Francisco we got to walk right in and sit down. I love shrimp cocktail and always order it if its available, this one was excellent as the shrimp were huge and the perfect appetizer! I ordered the BBQ chicken which was rare for me since I never select chicken. Maybe being a place with a deer mounted on the wall called for some good ol fashion american BBQ! It was delicious and served with fresh vegetables and a baked potato. My boyfriend had the rib eye which was decent, I mean its no Morton's but it was still very tasty. We left completely stuffed and happy!

We like it better than Outbacks. We really enjoyed our pan-seared calamari appetizer this time. The one out in Concord was real rubbery and chewy. The Vacaville branch to us has better food and service. Their meats are hit or miss, as we heard other tables complain that it was either over/under done... we got the prime rib and usually order it MOOin, no complaints from us. It may be pricer than other chain steak houses, but you pay for what you get. We'll be back.

Quality steakhouse in the true sense of the word...seating is plentiful...portions are nice for the price...staff is sharp & friendly and while 'smoked' is king (some items a little too smokey & I would lose the 'Blue Lake Green Beans'), the best dish is the appetizer/entree 'Railroad Camp Shrimp'...by far the best appetizer in the city...and they make a killer cocktail.

Come here for the happy hour special in the bar occasionally. The prices are great for what offered even though the portions are sized down. Overall the food is good but nothing to really write home about just a good place to grab a bite to eat in a bar for a reasonable price.

The service was fine but the food just wasn't that great. I had some sort of Tahoe Joe steak and it was like shoe leather. They top the baked potato at your table - but it's kind of a silly gimmick. My friend had a burger (she said it was fine, but nothing exiting) and fries (those were good). Really, for the price and the long waits, not sure why anyone would go there. Especially when Texas Roadhouse is down the road and sooooo much better (if you're into chain steak houses).

Those 5 stars are for the cheesecake. I am a cheesecake addict...seriously. It's embarassing how addicted I am to cheesecake. Ask my husband. If there is a cheesecake in our house, I will eat it for breakfast, (mid-morning snack), lunch, (mid-afternoon snack), and dinner, (midnight snack). I honestly think Tahoe Joe's has the best cheesecake! And I just got a flyer in the mail for a free slice with the purchase of 2 entrees!!! Do they not know bikini season is just around the corner!! Come on!! Okay, enough about their awesome cheesecake....the food is super good too, service is quick and friendly, and they have great cocktails....and cheesecake. I'm a fan.

I usually go to Cattlemens for my monthly fix of prime rib, but this time around I wanted to try somewhere new. Ordered my usual 10oz prime rib medium rare, mashed potatoes, and baby greens side salad. The side salad is often such an underappreciated part of the meal. I never really cared for it, until I came here and ate my baby greens made with special dressing, candied walnuts, raisins, and feta cheese. Goodness. I scarfed that sucker down in seconds. Then came the prime rib. Better than any prime rib I've ever had, coming from someone who swears by prime rib. Flavorful juices dripping from every cut. Heaven in my mouth. No more Cattlemens for me. I'm coming back here for my dose of prime rib from now on.

I am definately a fan of this place. It is nice to be able to go into town, like, a few minutes from where i live and have a good steak house. I am a filet fan and they do it well... plus, it is busy but not crazy busy, and the wait staff is killer. They are nice and know the menu very well. They also seem to always make your orders exactly as you tell them which is super wonderful. Thank you tahoe joes!

When I want the BEST dinner in V-V, this is where I go. Its great food prepared by good people who know what great food is all about, even if it is a chain-house. Website URL: tahoejoes.com After you park in the big lot, and walk in the front doors, there's a full bar to the left, and hostesses straight ahead----give 'em yer name and they'll give you your buzzer. The benches and bar are very enjoyable for sometimes long waits, since its not unusual to even see folks hanging outside waiting for a table, especially around the prime-time dinner hour. We usually go late---8:00pm or after to let the crowd thin out. On Fridays/Saturdays, they have late seating hours too. My advice is go early or go late. That great menu---something for everyone---gets my mouth watering every time I get ready to order. And the service is ALWAYS first rate, surprising since most of the wait-persons are young (you can tell that the manager takes great care to hire good kids/young adults). Your favorite salad will be prepared at your table, and you'll have time to leisurely finish it WITHOUT a rush to your main course, along with some nicely prepared fresh bread. Steaks are what this place is all about for me, but sometimes I wander to an always excellent prime rib or a baby-back ribs dinner. The wifey loves the chicken and the seafood dinners. Everything about this place is always served with huge proportions. I also echo the CHEESECAKE desert---mmmmmmmmm, good. When you leave here, you'll know what great meals, great surroundings, and great service are defined by----this place sets the bar.

I went here twice and I will not go back. The food was I had I had to send back and the replacement meal I nibbled on just because I was hungry. My husband did enjoy his ribs, but he'll have to do his own rating.

Only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is for the ambience. Very cool homey feeling when you walk in, but that's not enough to bring me back. We went for Mothers Day and it was the least crowded restaurant around. We were told 15-20 minute wait and we waited for more like an hour to be seated. I honestly can't even remember what I ordered, it was that blah. I know it was a steak of some sort, but I do remember not even being able to finish half of it because of the weird taste it had to it. Almost like it was old or something, blah! Service was super slow as well, took us 15 minutes after we got seated just to get rolls and to get our drink order in.

Business calls and I trek up to Sacramento from San Jose. On my return, usually around 4:30 in the afternoon, I like to eat my dinner early and wait out all the traffic jams. Not always an easy task. By habit I will often stop at Cattleman's in Dixon for a real "kick-ass" steak. On Tuesdays they have a great dear on a Porterhouse for around $20. Well, today is Thursday and I got out of my work assignment early and discovered the C's opens for dinner at 5pm. Needless to say, I was not going to wait 90 minutes to have dinner. So, onto my GPS and looked up the nearest steakhouses on my way down I-80. I discovered TJ and wow, was I impressed. My waitperson, Kim, was just fantastic; made several suggestions (no up sell at all) and I had one of the best steak dinners in a long, long time. Food was excellently prepared, the service was impeccable and the prices were quite modest compared to many other eateries. I'm now an ardent fan of TJ and will be back soon.

this is a pretty good place to stop for dinner on the way home to the bay area after snowboarding in tahoe. i'm usually not a big fan of this type of "american family eating establishments," but tahoe joe's is definitely one of the best of them. first of all, even though they don't have enough (if any) snowboard paraphernalia on their walls, the other tahoe/snow related stuff makes me happy. i guess they don't have snowboard gear up just because they're going for more of a historic, old time feel; so i'll pardon them for now. i don't know if it's just that people out in the bay area are a little ruder than people up towards the sacramento valley or something, but the service is always friendly and polite here. i think the management trains their staff really well. i usually feel that it's hard to find young servers that are so nice and sincerely out to serve you like this. anyway, the food is mostly pretty hearty stuff. obviously, they take pride in their steaks. the slow.roasted sirloin steak is well seasoned. many people praise their railroad camp shrimp. i love how they don't have a cheesy name like "oriental shrimp" since it's an asian.inspired dish. i think the "railroad camp shrimp" name is a good tribute to the hard.working asian immigrants that built the greatest state in the union. i once had the railroad camp shrimp salad and was _not_ disappointed. i definitely like how they build your baked potato for you at your table, and it's great that they use real butter instead of margarine. oftentimes, since we hit up tahoe joe's on the way _back_ from snowboarding, i already had my fill of burgers and stuff like that, so i often order the grilled fish here, and those dishes are pretty good. they have a good $19.99/person dinner special. it comes with an appetizer and dessert to share as well as soup or salad with each entrée. it's quite filling, so expect to finish your drive back down the 80 with a doggy bag in your mud.splattered car. i'm able to bring my infant/toddler son here and put him in a high chair. he has a good time, and the servers are cool with him.

I don't know how anyone could give this a five star rating. I've been there three times and will NOT give them another chance. The first time was with friends. The atmosphere was so loud and annoying, the food wasn't hot, and my friend had a produce sticker still on her tomato slice. Unappetizing. The second time I went was with my husband, who wanted to give it a chance. It was better that time but we would've enjoyed another steakhouse more. The final time was one of the most miserable experiences ever. Our order came out continually wrong, everyone's food came out at different times, our drinks were not added to our bill and we had to wait almost 15 minutes to get that straightened out and paid for, the youth in our party had empty glasses most of the meal. The food was mediocre - not worth any price they could've asked.

Had an early dinner on a Saturday evening--even at 5:30 the place was 3/4 full! Had to say the filet was the best steak I have had in a VERY long time! Cooked medium rare perfectly, a flavorful crust on the outside, well-seasoned and tender. It was also a good 2 inches thick! I chose the special with the lobster tail which was excellent-not tough like so many I have had. Salad was good, passed on the potato but sure looked good at the table next to me. Hubby had the Ahi appetizer which he claimed to be quite good. Only negative was the wine by the glass was steep for a not very generous pour. Will definetely make it a stop on our trips down I-80.

this is my steakhouse of choice whenever i'm in the area. the atmosphere is exactly how i think a steak house should feel. rambunctious. lodge-esque. informal. you get huge utensils. huge mason jars to drink out of. root beers aren't lame fountain root beers, but the real deal fancy kind that have brown foam at the top and comme in a gigantic frosted mug (i'm assuming regular beers come this way too...) the bar is quick and dirty. the menu is straight forward. there selections don't have time for fanciness / pretensiousness, they just head straight for delcious. they cut and prepare steaks the way they're supposed to be. try the tahoe t-bone, it's a BEAST! also try: mountain mashers railroad camp shrimp breaded calamari strips and the cheescake (so i've heard from 2 reliable sources.) go. now.

My friend works here and I NEVER complain so trust me I really dont want to have to give a bad rating... this is the first time ive felt the need to even rate a place. I was so disappointed in my food. I saw a picture of this HUGE juicy lobster tail and I just had to have it. It was 27 bucks for shriveled up burnt lobster tail that wasn't any bigger then my two thumbs out together. It was about 1/5 of the size pictured. It seemed so janky and I felt ripped off. On top of that the floor was trashed lined with fake sugar packets and straws as if there was a mardi gra party. I have no interest in returning now.

When I found out this place was a chain i could not believe it. The food is good and so is the service. The steaks are unbelievably good and great portions. Get the tahoe joe's special for two and you pretty much can walk away full and happy. The appetizers are good and the cheescake is awesome. happy hour here is worth going to especially when you get the absolute lemonades they make.

I came here for a company dinner. It was a mess in the beginning. They had arranged our tables and seated our party in a way, where we would interfere with other diners. There would be no space for the waiter to navigate in. Eventually, we got them to move us to a booth but it was a tight fit for some members of our party. The food was good but unfortunately my boss didn't get to enjoy his meal. Our waitress had a second chance to make it up but failed. He had ordered his steak medium rare and received one that was medium well. When they came back, they messed up his order again. This time the steak was cooked rare. You could see it was blue. They removed it from the bill and offered another entre free of charge. Despite my boss's meal being ruined, we all enjoyed what we ordered. The pan seared calamari was pretty good but it was prepared more like a steak. It was different from the calamari I was used to ordering which are usually little pieces. The railroad camp shrimp is their best appetizer and I strongly recommend it. I had their 14oz ribeye steak and it certainly lived up its name as one of their signature items. The desserts were ok but nothing special. Regardless of the bad experience, I would give them another shot. Note: They're located near an outlet mall so you can shop and dine.

Sorry but I've been there twice and it was nothing to rave about. Felt like a chain restaurant. Mediocre service. Food salty, bland, and not memorable. I think the appetizer I had was one of those bloomin onion things with dip - it was icky. Outback makes a much better steak. One plus - kick ass cocktails - they don't skimp on the booze!

Brought my in-laws here last week. They wanted Outback and I thought we would go someplace new for them as they live in So Cal. Service was slow, it was a Sunday night but it took forever to get bread to the table. We ordered apps, artichoke hearts and the crab cakes. Both were pretty good. My in-laws ordered salad and my husband had the chicken pot pie soup. All was good except my mother in law's salad had a few funky wilted greens she pulled out. That always grosses me out. I ordered what I always do, the steak sandwich... it was as usual GREAT. My father in law had the prime rib and he ordered it medium... that was an issue... the kitchen obviously poured hot au jus on the meat to make it the right color, however, the meat was firm and def cooked med rare. Bright red when cut into. If you don't have prime rib the wellness it was ordered, you should come out and ask the cutstomer if they want it cooked differently or if they want to order somethign else. Playing the disguise game fool's no one. My husband's salmon was "ok" and my mother in law liked the calamari steak. If ether the service was better OR all the food was as ordered and/or fesh, I would have given 4 stars.

my wife and i tried tahoe joe's for the first time, and i can say that there food is not worth the price they charge.my wife had the sirloin and i had the new york steak,my steak was cooked ok but of the 14ozs at least 6 were fat.my wifes steak was ordered medium rare but was served very rare,it had to be taken back twice before it was cooked correctly, even then.it was very very salty.my wife did not eat it..Their bread sucks.their vegetables were raw, and the soup tasted like it was heated in a microwave.at the waitresses suggestion i ordered the chocolate cake, wow that was a mistake,it was very stale.i must say that the wait staff is the best part of this restaurant, they are very friendly and attentive,Texas Roadhouse,Black Angus, and Cattlemens are far better places to enjoy a good meal.heck,i don't even like Denny's but i will eat there before i ever return to Tahoe Joe's..my advise is stay away because you will be disappointed.
