Diabetics at Whataburger

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. So sad to see Gerard & Lynn go, we have only been back a few times since they left, but I would say the food remained similar to as good. Not the same atmosphere anymore, but the sandwiches are the best and it is the only "mom & pop" deli in Tracy. Come Friday for the crab sandwiches, they are the best!!

I went there because it was across from Firestone where my vehicle was being fixed. It had no air conditioning only fans. The food from the hof brau was so so. I was uncomfortable so I won't be back. Also they have a very limited menu so it was quite disappointing.

Okay guys. I know this is one of Tracy's favorite places, but I really wasn't feelin' it. My husband and I had not been here in years so we thought we would stop by. My husband ordered the Ranch House and I got the Chopped Hog. Both sandwiches were underwhelming. There was nothing special about them and to be quite honest, it seems like they just buy prepackaged stuff and slap it together. What makes a restaurant truly unique and stand out is the house recipes that you can't get anywhere else. None of the flavors in these sandwiches were unique. The bread definitely tasted like it was packaged and not baked in house. Also, I am pretty sure the dressing on the Ranch House sandwich was Hidden Valley. Just...disappointing. To this day people rave about this place and I just don't get it. Maybe I'll give it another try next year...

I used to LOVE this place. Fresh breads, great meats and friendly staff. But we went today and I ordered my old favorite turkey on a croissant. Two bites and I was through. HARD croissant and weird pressed processed turkey that was grainy and fell apart in my mouth. Yuck! And they had mixed up the tea connections so both spigots gave out raspberry iced tea, which I hate. I told the woman about it and she was so totally unconcerned that we just left. I will NEVER go back. This is not the old Gerard's Deli that made Tracy people so happy. It's a sub-standard hole in the in the wall with an owner that doesn't give a damn. Save your money.

  • Hanna G.

From what I hear Gerard's Deli was better under previous ownership and sadly I never went here during that time. The sandwiches here are okay- decent size and amount of toppings- however, the restaurant itself is in need of some serious renovations and the service leaves an element of friendliness to be desired. I wish I was more impressed with Gerard's because as a Tracy-ite myself I love supporting local business, but I think for the price there are other places in Tracy I would get a sandwich from.

  • Jeremy M.

The deli is one a kind in a city where deli's are rare. The sandwiches are tasty and not overindulgent. The businessman's special provides enough food to last you for half of the day. The restaurant provides ample space sit and relax with your meal. We have not yet tried the hoffbrau but we will return to try it in the near future.

  • John L.

They still have the best sandwiches in town but they are not as massive as before. Nothing beats the Corned Beef sandwich from the Hot Food section! The taste is still the same but they don't stack 'em up like Gerard did. =( He would always leave one of the slices untrimmed (per my request) for extra flavor. A little piece of that fatty layer goes a long way! =) The chili and the meatballs are excellent, too. On the Regular/Special Deli section, The Reuben is the best concoction, bar none! Gerard's Deli is more than just a restaurant - it is a community. Some of the posts have been rather negative after Gerard and Lynn sold the place. I hope the new owners can figure out what they need to do to get it right back on track.

I would call it the end of an era. If I were to be writing this review years ago, under prior ownership, it would be a lot different. However, it speaks volumes when you walk into a local place that used to have a crazy long line at lunchtime, but is now almost completely empty with you and one other person in line. The staff appeared to be genuinely disinterested, and were basically going through the motions. The macaroni salad had minimal flavor and was heavy in what I imagine was mayonnaise. The sandwiches, however, well it takes talent to mess one of those up! They still stuff them to the brim with the fillings and offer the same menu as before. I would certainly return in the future, but am not nearly as eager to support this local business as I had been before. I'd like to try the hot foods next time around.

Their sandwiches are very good, with high-quality meats, ripe avocados and delicious sourdough bread. Sometimes the service is a bit slow, but I don't mind.

This place used to be impossible to get into during lunch.. 2x once during festival and another time right in middle of day I was the only one. Food is still good just limited on supplies and very long wait. Work on it and I can upd

Food was good (not great) portions were good I couldn't finish my food nothing that won't keep me away I will return. I got the gobbler it was overflowing the plate.

Even though this place changed hands last year the hoffbrau side still rocks. Today's soup, Clam chowder and their chili are both delicious. Service is mediocre but not bad. More smiles would b all.other than that I love coming here for a sandwich

20 f***ing minutes to get a f***ing sandwich with 1 person in front of me. Then I go to get my husband's sandwich on the hot side and they are out of meat!!!!!!!!! This is the second time their hot kitchen has failed and my search for a good deli in Tracy continues. Learn how to run a business!

Gerard's Deli looks like it hasn't changed a thing since 1980 when it first opened. If you can forget about the total lack of renovation since the 80's (think wallpaper, wood paneling, and a bathroom you'd be better off skipping if possible), if you can focus on food alone, I think that you will love this place. As for me, today I got a Hog Wild sandwich with hot sliced ham, melted Jack cheese, artichoke-chili spread, spinach and tomatoes on a perfect ciabatta bread. Absolutely stellar sandwich. The potato salad was decent and the carrot cake I'd heard was so good lived up to its rep undoubtedly. My husband loved his hot pastrami sandwich as well. This is a great stop when you're hungry and all about the food.

  • Karen D.

Since the new owners took over this place is just not the same. I used to love the French dip sandwiches but when I ordered it again after under the new ownership I was greatly disappointed. Sad to say I will no longer eat here. :(

  • Juan H.

Always great food! Recently changed ownership, which caused a lot of worry to the regulars, but the current owners kept everything the same! Great, good sized sandwiches. Great hot food area as well! You will leave satisfied and full. Try the hot turkey open faced sandwich plate! It's really good!

YES. So good. I love it here. Some of the reviews I've read say that the service isn't great, but I've never had anything short of a completely positive experience when I've been here. Every time I've come, I've been greeted with a smile and a "Hi, how are you doing?", even when it's super busy. It really is a part of life in Tracy. I say you'd be hard pressed to find a better sandwich joint. There is sometimes a bit of a wait, but that's just because it's popular, and it's totally worth the wait.

'Twas the day before Christmas and they searched all around, not an unfrozen turkey was to be found, not anywhere in town... My family and I headed to Gerard's to enjoy a Christmas Eve "Gobbler" feast because Tracy, CA decided that Christmas 2012 would be ham and not turkey for Christmas dinner. I suggested we head to Gerard's, a cute little deli that I had tried a few days prior, where I KNEW we would be happy. We were. The employees were helpful and accommodating with my family's "no ___," "____ on the side," "can I have ____ instead?" requests and there is plenty of seating. ...and a Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Not impressed. Just moved to tracy and from what i read here and urban spoon this is the local favorite deli, but maybe thats changed since new ownership? Not a happy first timer. The wife and i wont be back.

When I first moved to tracy a few years ago I heard a lot of good things about Gerard's. The photos on yelp looked good. I never really got around to trying them until about a couple weeks ago. It was a saturday afternoon, my wife and I wanted to go out for lunch and try something different. I said how about we try Gerard's, we have been talking about it forever. so we did. there happened to be a car show downtown the same day so I was expecting it to be kind of busy...this was the total opposite. It was a ghost town inside, i actually couldn't tell if it was open or not. We went inside and a woman came out from the back employee area and greeted us, I asked if they were still serving sandwiches she kindly said yes. I am a big fan of Pastrami and sauerkraut sandwiches. I asked if the sauerkraut was more on the sweeter or sour side...some peoples sauerkraut is kind of sweet and mushy. She said, well,it's kind of in the middle...well, alrighty lets give it a try, i asked if i could have it on a sourdough roll instead of sliced rye. Easy on the thousand island and no cheese please. They seemed dumbfounded that i wanted sourdough. She said are you sure you want it on sourdough instead? I said yes please, I prefer sourdough. anyways, my wife ordered a basic turkey and swiss with avocado on sourdough roll as well. We threw in a couple drinks, chips and 2 of their deviled eggs, because who doesn't like deviled eggs? Lol It comes out to around $24.00! Wth for sandwiches, chips, and fountain soda? This better be good! We get our food, the deviled eggs are old and taste like the filling was mass produced...garbage. Soda was cold and carbonated...I would hope so. Chips were fresh and crunchy. Thank god. Then there was the sandwich. First of all it was on RYE! I specifically said sourdough roll, you asked me again if i want sourdough, I said yes. How do you not put it on a bread we confirmed I did not want twice?! I mean if you don't have it ,just say so and I will make another choice from what you have. That was error two so far, then there is so much thousand island dressing which was clearly some generic crap bulk brand that combined with juiciness of the sauerkraut made my sandwich a soggy sloppy mess, just a pile of gooey crap. Then it was some thick sliced pastrami, that was rubbery so I could barely eat it with a fork... Finally, I said no cheese and they globed on some pile of this shitty orange cheese that was probably 2 ingredients shy of plastic. Total disaster and failure of a sandwich. The woman behind the counter was walking the tables and picking up random things left behind like plates, napkins etc. she ask me if everything was okay, and although it clearly was not, I didn't want to make her cry by explaining my utter confusion and disappointment on how someone could fail so badly at such a simple sandwich. So I just nodded, yeah its great thanks... Now my wife's sandwich was not as horribly wrong except it was on regular french bread and not sourdough like she asked. Again, if you don't have it ,just say so. I was Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area my whole life, do you honestly think I wouldn't know the difference in regular bread and sourdough? Wtf The meat and cheese in her sandwich tasted like cheap ass buddings 2 for 50 cents packs of meat and rehydrated cheese... I was so annoyed my wife looked and me said sorry babe, do you want to just go? I'm thinking ,why is my wife apologizing? Everyone who has ever ordered food here should be apologized to by the owner with a refund. I honestly will try almost any food once, I think we should all try everything at least twice. You never know maybe it was a bad day or whomever didn't make something the way you may particularly like it. Unless it was so horrible that the first time is too hard to forgive. Needless to say I will never go back here, and I weep for the future of the business with the new owners. It seemed as if at one point this place was an old school gem in Tracy. Now,its just yet another failing business, that is wasting its money keeping the doors open because they're either completely oblivious to what they're putting out as a product that represents them or they're amazingly arrogant and see nothing wrong with what they're doing.

Downtown Tracy is home to countless shops, stores, and restaurants. I was in town for a week visiting and wanted to explore Tracy in depth. It was lunchtime and we were looking for a nice place to stroll, window shop, and eat. Yelps nearby restaurant search had failed us miserably, so we decided to browse around instead. Looking in, Gerard's Deli was busy with several tables filled up and a line on both sides of the restaurant. The place looked homey and dated. We opted for the "Hof Brau" from 11 - 1 pm. I asked the server what the popular items were and it seriously took him a minute to think of something. In any case, we each ordered the roast beef plate with steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes with brown gravy, with a side salad and a soda. The total was $35 with tax and tip. The roast beef was good, just a tad flavorless. I decided to sprinkle some salt on my dish but to my disgust, the salt shaker was dirty as all HELL. It had this GREEN grime at the top where the salt is dispensed and boy, the sight of it was just unruly. I took a picture for your viewing pleasure and posted it on their Yelp page, so have a look! The salad bar was "meh". Where was the caesar dressing? I did like, however, that they had beets, cottage cheese, and potato salad. The red onions were old and I question how many times they actually rotate their products. The service was crap. The girl serving our food was as lifeless as a rock. She could not smile if it meant saving her children, I swear to you. My experience here was... whatever. Will I come back? No. But I also don't think I belong here either... not after losing my mind about a dirty salt shaker, right?

Great sandwiches! The bread is always fresh and they are super friendly! I would drive 100 miles for their sandwiches if I had to (luckily I don't)

Ate here the other day for lunch and just remembered I forgot to review. I hadn't eaten here in years due to working out of town and it's a lunch place so was off work the other day and me and my hubby went there for lunch and unfortunately it's not the Gerard's Deli I knew and grew up with. Ghost town and just unhappy looking people working there :/ I was pre warned that it had new owners and things were different but it was just so extremely different to how I remember it. The line would be long the place would be packed but not anymore. I had just left the optometrist and my eyes were dilated so I couldn't read anything so I asked what type of turkey they had and she said "it's right there" directing me to look in the glass fridge but I couldn't ready what it said so I was like wow how hard was it to just answer my question then to make me feel dumb cuz I couldn't read due to the dilation lol But I was like whatever you're a b*tch so I got a basic turkey sandwich and my husband got a cheese dog and they were both decent but definitely not worth the price tag they came with. But it did make me a little happy to know the food hadn't gone totally to hell but the whole attitude of the woman helping us just ruined the whole experience. I will not be back.

Not a very good place, vegetables are over cooked. Food preparers don't wear gloves, ravioli and spaghetti sauce is the same, it's all out of hot storage areas, felt like we were in a cafeteria. Ambiance is not much better.

Prior to the new owners purchasing the business, I had lunch there several times a month and it was always excellent. Now? Not so much. My most recent visit was a Friday at noon. The place was deserted. There were 2 people sitting at a table and that was it. I tried to order the Friday special - the crab sandwich, but they were out of crab AND sourdough rolls (not sure how you run out of something when you have no customers.) So I ended up ordering a mediocre turkey sandwich. 2 sandwiches, 2 fountain drinks and 2 bags of chips cost $24. Really??? $24??? Sadly, at this rate, the new owners are going to run a once fine establishment into the ground. I won't be back to see it though.

It's a Tracy staple. I had the turkey and cranberry sandwhich and it was delicious. So if you like sandwhiches and happen to be in Tracy, eat no where else but at Gerard's.

  • Sarah A.

Hands down THE best deli in Tracy. However, not worthy of 5 stars due to price and service. It's a little pricey, though the quality makes you willing to pay it. The staff is cordial but not happy to see you. They are not rude by any means but they are doing a job not making friends. I'm completely okay with this with a small exception that I would prefer not to be made to feel like I'm interrupting them.

Just got back from purchasing 2 1/2 sandwiches, soda, bag of chips and a pickle $27 and some change. When i question it the lady. Said the menu that I just picked 2 weeks ago is old she told me to look at the bottom of the menu and it would give me the date it was printed. Well it said 4/ 2011. Don't you think the new owners after. 2 years would if printed new menus. Will never go back and tell all family and friends never to go there

Food is no longer any good. The soups are flavorless and the sandwiches are mediocre at best. The old owners really knew what they were doing. I am really going to miss eating there.

We have been patrons at Gerhard's for many years and knew the original owners very well. We refrained from going once the new owners took over. We wanted to see if the new owners kept the same level of service and food as before. Today we walked in about noon. The number people in the place told the story. This place is usually packed at lunch time normally with a lots of people that work for the city and local businesses. This place had 3 or 4 tables. The food was more expensive and lacked flavor, wife had her favorite the roast beef, we have compared this to a very famous place in San Fransisco and my wife always felt that Gerhard's was better,

    (2)
  • Karen T.

I waited 30 minutes with four people in front of me. The sandwich was okay, but not worth the $8.00 at all. I heard there are new owners. I will sadly not be back if the next time I visit, the service and food is this bad.

    (2)
  • Eugene L.

Really good! We've been eating here 2-3 times a week for lunch. It's a good place because the menu seems to fit everyone's appetite on any given day. $4.99 for any normal sandwich. Peppered Turkey with everything, Dutch Crunch bread and a side of Deviled eggs FTW.

  • Brian P.

Here's the deal, this place has been around since the early 1980s...if their food was poor or service was bad they wouldn't have survived all these years. But they didn't just "survive", they've been voted the best deli every year for almost two decades straight. Clearly they're doing something right. Personally, I go there because they are the only place I can find, short of driving to San Francisco, that actually has true San Francisco sour dough rolls to make sandwiches on.

  • John S.

The sandwiches are ginormous. I had the Super Sub and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The prices are very reasonable, very comparable to what you'd pay at a national chain. But when you see the size of your sandwich, the fresh ingredients and sink your teeth into the food, you'll understand why this is a local hangout in Tracy. Enjoy!

  • Susan H.

This place used to be amazing, but this is its third week under new ownership (the original owners sold it to retire) and it is HORRIBLE!! They spiked the prices, the quality of the meats has drastically decreased, the portions (which used to be monstrous) are way down, and I know a couple of people who have gotten sick from eating there since the new owners took over. They have taken a staple in the Tracy community and turned it into an abysmal pit. What a shame!

Last week, my wife picked up an Italian Hoagie sandwich for me and brought it home. I can't explain why or how come these sandwiches are so damn good, but they are. Maybe it's the fresh bread or the Italian dressing they use. Or maybe it's the way they put the sandwich together or the fresh meats they use that appeases the tongue senses. Which ever the case, these are some of the best sandwiches in and around Tracy.

My Wife and I just moved back to Tracy after 10 years! One of our favorite spots was Gerard's Deli. Fresh bread, piles of meat and incredible macaroni salad! My first sign something was up was this is Saturday afternoon and there is NOBODY here.... My next sign was the price.... $17.00 for one sandwich, two drinks, two chips and a small macaroni salad. I didn't really mind the cost cause I knew I would soon be eating a mouthwatering masterpiece. WRONG!!! The horribly dry bread, vastly sparse meat, tan colored sprouts and macaroni that tasted like ALL the other items that were stored in the cabinet.... YUK! Finally a young couple came into the store. Once they got their food I couldn't help but overhear the conversation that the owners had SOLD the Deli! That the Children were not interested in keeping the store in the Family. Now I understand that nothing lasts forever but I am saddened that this place is now gone after it was voted Tracy's Best for 20 consecutive years!!!! I guess I'll have to go to SaveMart now and forego the ambiance. My very best Love, Prayers and best wishes on your retirement! Thank you for being a part of my life! :'(

Well once again my GPS led me to a closed business (I really need to just get a new one, although I've seen some of the newer ones and like mine better, but to shell out for the new maps for my old one.... ugh, decisions, decisions). Anyway, I saw a neon deli sign down the street. After a few turns and finding a spot down the street I walked in to Gerard's. Very nice. There is a Hofbraugh (did I spell that right?) section on the right with hot foods and then the deli section toward the rear. I thought about the Hofbraugh, but decided to just get a sandwich. Everything looked really good. It took me a good 3-5 minutes to decide (luckily no one behind me in line). I settled on the turkey, bacon and avacado on a Dutch Crunch roll with a small potato salad. The sandwich was excellent - everything was very fresh and the roll was perfect for a Dutch Crunch (I've had some that tore the roof of my mouth up). The potato salad was very good as well, not overly laden with mayo, nice chunks of tater, just about perfect for me. I could only eat a bit more than half of both. I'll be working nearby most of the week, so I think I may go back and try the Hofbraugh side. Overall pretty impressed after just 1 visit.

The hardest thing you'll have to decide at Gerard's is if you want the Hot Bar or the Regular Deli. First time I went was the Hot Bar and I got the Gobbler...as a fat kid at heart I won the lottery. This open faced sandwich was magical. It was Thanksgiving on a piece of bread. I dove in head first and came out covered in gravy. It was magical! The Deli itself was really great too, I think the only complaint that I would have is that it took a little while to prepare the food, my wife got a Reuben that took like 10 minutes to assemble, perhaps it was the same as getting the Avengers together, it took some time, but once they were all together O M G. Am I right? Anyhow, if you're in downtown Tracy stop here and partake of the glory that is the Cobbler. Do it...if you're scared, bring a cool friend who can tell you how awesome it was!

Great sandwiches, love the family, cafeteria style layout. Awesome French dip, I'm just sorry that the owners are retiring. Thanks for great place to eat. Hopefully the new owners can keep up the tradition.

We discovered this little gem about 2 years ago after going to Subway and Mr. Pickles. There is no comparison! Their Pastrami and Corned Beef surpasses the competition in every regard including the bread selection. Hope under new ownership, they change nothing. When we move out of Tracy, we will bring our new friends down to taste the delicious deli food from this Tracy landmark.

The items cold and hot are very good. The only down side is the bakery that they use. The bread is only so-so. If they were using Genova Bakery of Stockton's breads then the place would rate 5 stars.

Can't go wrong with a local sandwich shop... All I have to say is don't try the honey mustard dip while standing in line because you will become addicted and continue dipping the pretzels and munching on those until you become too full to eat your lunch. Hah! Basically the place is great but their honey mustard dip is amazing!

Tried the corned beef sandwich today for lunch and it was yummy. For about $6 and some change you get a sandwich filled with juicy and tasty meat big enough to share. -2 stars because the lady running the cash register was a zombie, no emotion at all; not even a "Hi" or "Thank you". Talk about customer service, people like that makes you not want to come back. I'll give this place another chance and try a different sandwich and hopefully zombie lady will at least smile.

This is the only thing I miss about Tracy. It's one of my favorite delis. I love every sandwich I have had here, especially the seafood sandwich which is only available on Fridays. They also have very good mortadella. They have pretzels and honey mustard you can eat while in line (the line gets pretty long for lunch). You can also buy the honey mustard. It is so good. The pasta salad is really good also.

Very large fresh sandwiches...and a wonderful hot lunch buffet. Prices are fair & the food top notch. The interior is very dated, but that's part of it's old Tracy charm. Staff is wonderful!!!! I love the carved turkey & alvacado, or the crab salad sandwich. My daughter loves their egg salad & my boss thinks their tuna is amazing. The one thing for sure is their food is wonderful and has been for many many years!!! They are closed on the weekends and not open for dinner.

Definitely the best place to get a hot sandwich in Tracy. Went here today and must say the turkey was tender and moist, the bread was delicious, and the veggies were fresh. It was the best turkey sandwich I've ever had!! The people are very friendly and my hubby had the teriyaki french dip and is obsessed with it, and this place. Also tried the meatballs, and they were amazing! Highly recommend!!!

In high-school this was our Max/Peach PIt/where the cool kids hang out. I adore this place! In the heart of downtown Tracy it exudes hometown feel. Family operated joint so everyone is so friendly. Get the business special - sandwich, potato salad, chips and drink all for under $8. Sandwiches are awesome! Always made to order with the freshest ingredients. Deviled eggs are amazing! I can seriously eat a whole plate of them. While the only downer is the hours, Gerard's Deli will always be my 2nd home..

I came here in high school because all of my friends were telling me that they were surprised that even though I grew up in Tracy, I've never been to this place (my reasoning is that I really care for sandwiches). But dear gosh, this place blew my mind. It's sooooo good! And everything was made right there in house and wasn't outsourced. One of the best things I miss in Tracy.

Hands down best deli in town. Pricey but worth it. Love the ladies making sandwiches. They remember customers and know what i want before i say it. Good old fashioned service!!! Wish the were open at night but nothing is downtown. If you havent, give them a try!

Okay so I have ate here on three separate occasions. First Hot Food excellent and service friendly. Second Cold Sandwich delicious service okay. Third time Crab Sandwich (Fri. only). Horrible service. Girl who helped us was nice, but there is a lady there that was just staring at us and looked very rude. She did not smile or say hello, just stared (awkward). Once we got our food and sat down, we were ready to enjoy a delicious crab sandwich. Take a bite and as I am chewing, the taste seems odd and not very fresh at all. So I look a little more at the sandwich and realize it is imitation crab. WTF??? We came paid for a crab sandwich and we get imitation. They should have told us or put a sign up. It is false advertising. So as you probably know, the sandwich was disgusting and non-satisfying at all. I wish it was real crab for the money I paid, but because of this horrible experience, I do not think I can come here again.

This deli is awesome. There is something in the mayo if one is a fan of mayo that just is just addicting and hits the spot. The best thing to do is to order the business deal special which is basically a variety of sandwiches to choose from, chips, and a drink. You know the basic combo deal, however they also include a type of salad: fruit, mac, potato, or deviled egg. The deal will run you under $8 except what I order is the following: Type of meat I want on Croissant (extra $0.75) Everything on it with provolone cheese or one of the Jacks Fruit or Mac salad, type of chips And a Dr. Pepper as my fountain drink Total $9.36

What a great find for us in the older downtown Tracy. They not only have a wide variety of sandwiches but also a hof brau type selection for lunch time. Had a veggie sandwich that more than filled me up. The lady that helped us out was really friendly and nice even though they were pretty busy.

No where in Tracy can come close to Gerard's Deli. It's practically iconic. All I can say is that when somewhere goes from being a noun to a verb, as in, "hey, wanna gerard's it up tomorrow?", you can't go wrong. You WILL see people you know here, you WILL have the lady recognize you and your lemon-bar-loving friends, and it will be great. The only sucky thing is the hours...but it's family-owned.

This place did not disappoint. The wait was a little slow... but it was worth it. The sandwiches were really good. We tried two of the specials that were recommended by the staff. They were both really good. The dirty chips were really good too. This place is a really great place for lunch.

I eat here a couple of times a month. Corn beef is the best! Clam chowder on Fridays is better than what most seafood restaurants I've been to offer. Love the food on both the hot and cold sides. Great food, great people.

I love this place! The best lunch in all of Tracy! The only complaint I have is they need to have longer business hours. Hot or cold sandwiches, fresh ingredients and fast service. You can't beat Gerards!

Had a low-carb lunch at Gerard's on Thursday. My friend and I had the corn beef, mixed vegetables, and green beans with a soda. Quite a lot of of food for around $8. The corn beef was wonderful and the veggies not over cooked. When I finally get off the low-carb diet I will try the sandwiches.

I LOVE this place... I don't give it 5 stars only because their only location is in Tracy and its a far drive for me. The Jamaican and Mediterranean Sandwhich are my absolute favorite they are both full of FLAVOR!!! If you are ever in Tracy or driving by Tracy headed to/from the Bay stop here. I promise, you will not regret it.

Got take-out for a party this week. Raviolis, steamed veggies, garlic bread, and lemon bars. All were amazing! Especially the lemon bars- they are the best I've ever had. Sandwiches are great here too. Will keep coming back!

Great sandwhiches! AMAZING! You may have to wait a bit, but this place is the best and totally worth it. They have some pretzels and honey mustard dip for you to snack on while you are waiting to order. I love this place. If you want to experience a true piece of Tracy, come here.

This is the only real deli that I go to in Tracy. They have a great lunch special called the "business man's special" for around $7. It comes with a sandwich any way you like, a salad (i like macaroni), a bag of chips, and a drink. They stack their sandwiches high with meat and even just one half can make me full. Plus, across from the deli they sell only hot food. That's where I get my roast beef, mashed potatoes, and corn plate special. Overall it's really clean, comfy, and has been voted the #1 favorite deli in Tracy for years.

My husband and I have lived in Tracy for 6 years and today was our first trip to Gerard's. I couldn't believe that there was such a long line for a Saturday. It smells so good inside. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. I think they might have the best deli sandwich ever. i had the egg salad :-) very simple but yummy. My husband had the Italian hoagie and said it was awesome. Fruit salad and macaroni salad were a nice treat to the side. Besides great food the prices aren't bad at all. We'll definitely be back soon.

I am a transplant to Tracy from the Peninsula. Since arriving, I had been whining about not having a "real" deli...Subway and Quiznos are fine, but they ARE NOT delis! Finally someone tells me about Gerard's and I am one happy camper. This is a real deli and a FABULOUS one at that. It's basic, nothing fancy and delicious. The employees are super friendly. We both had the homemade tuna, we shared homemade potato salad and deviled eggs (we were giddy as though it was the holidays when we normally are treated to deviled eggs!) and each had a bag of Dirty Chips (which are INSANELY delicious!). Cost was $18 and we had way too much food. I am a big eater, and I did eat the entire sandwich, but I would have been fine eating half. I didn't eat dinner that night after having this for lunch! So if you find yourself in Tracy and craving a deli sandwich, head downtown to Gerard's. You'll be glad you did! (They also sell hot food - hofbrau style...we say we will try that sometime, but not sure I can go there without getting a sandwich!)

This is definitely the best deli for sandwiches that I have ever been to. I have been going there since I was a little girl, and now that I live out of state, I really miss it. I look forward to going there every time I'm in CA. My favorite sandwiches are the Turkey cranberry and also my custom salami and cream cheese.

Home of one of the best Chicken Salad Sandwiches. I love their sandwiches and everytime that I go there I tell myself that I will try their Hofbrau hot bar at the other end of the restaurant but I always end up with the chicken salad sandwich. It's a clean and great place to eat and were else can you buy a single deviled egg?

Traveling through Tracy we decided to stop here because of the high reviews. Maybe the deli lady was having a bad day because she wasn't friendly at all and wouldn't even smile.I ordered the Turkey, bacon and avocado sandwich on dutch crunch bread, potato salad and my partner ordered the corned beef with sauerkraut and 4 deviled eggs. The potato salad and deviled eggs were too sweet. I never had deviled eggs that tasted of sugar. My partner said they were just plain nasty. My sandwich was large with a huge amount of turkey, but it didn't have any flavor, even with bacon and avocado on it. So I took it apart to see if there really was mayo and mustard on it and couldn't see any, I had to go back in and get some packets of mustard and mayo to spread on and the dutch crunch bread was soggy, usually a good dutch crunch will cut up your mouth. My partner didn't like his sandwich, said that there wasn't any sauerkraut on it just plain cabbage. He wouldn't even eat the other half of it and if you knew him, that is so unusual, it must have been bad. Needless to say will never go back to this place.

Gerards reminds me of an old fashioned East coast Deli (without the rude owner and grease) Good people and name your sandwich... My regular lunch partner loves the Wednesday special -- I like the fact that they even carry Diet, de-caf Pepsi.

I had to try this place based upon the reviews here on yelp. I must say it was one of the best hot pastrami sandwiches I've had in a while. The service was good (feels like family owned and operated) and the price was not bad. I will definitely be back to try other sandwiches on their menu.
