Dhaba Indian Cuisine Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I can't help it, i gotta say it, Dhaba's is yaba daba doo delicious. Its really a 41/2. could of been a five but some of the spices are toned down compared to what you would get in the land of Nirvana. Unfortunately to appease the bland American palate we rarely get the real thing. But , this is about as good as it gets in these here parts. The Chicken Tikka, (not to be confused with the Tikka Marsala) was excellent. It looks like Chicken Tandoori but tastier. We had a little bit of everything, family style which is the way to go if there are enough of you. It was all very good. The Naan was delicious and plentiful, the various meat and vegetarian plates had distinct flavors that made your tongue want to do the rhumba. The place is small and not fancy, but its clean, casual and the service was very good. Although we did have a ringer in our group who could speak the native tongue of the waiter, which may have made a slight difference. She must of told him something like "hey homey can you give a sista a break" cuz that Naan just kept reappearing. Damn twas good and i and my Santo will be back for more.

We went for the first time. I ordered the mushroom chicken korma and really liked it. The naan is buttery and tasty. The chicken was so tender and obviously cooked to order. I'll be going again for sure. 3/19/11 Went back a few more times, still great food!

Coming back from Yosemite to San Francisco our group decided we really wanted Indian food. Thanks to Yelp we found this restaurant. Good choice for a bunch of really hungry campers who hadn't eaten anything but snacks for two days. They give lots of food for really cheap. It was ready in heaping bowls right when we got there, which was great because we were all starving. There were 6 delicious dishes to choose from and you can get a lunch thali: 1 entree + rice+ raita+ dessert+ pakora+ naan for 5.99. 2 entree = 6.99 3 entree = 7.99 They like to use a bit much salt in their dishes, and lots of sugar in their desserts (including chai!), but overall the food was really good!

An explosion of flavors in my mouth! Very friendly service. Food is always fresh and exciting. This restaurant never gets old. If you're a food guru, you will enjoy the many tastes here. It seems to me they take great pride in their food. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for something new! Or to anyone who loves exciting flavors. The people who run this place are very helpful to those not familiar with Indian food, don't be afraid to ask. You'll be glad that you ate here and surely will return frequently!!! ***** 5 STARS in my opinion.

~ 3.5 star rating ~ After a morning of hiking in the mountains with my boyfriend and pup, we decided to grab a little lunch on our way back home. Having planned on trying this place a few days before because of all the yelp reviews and my hankering for some yummy naan, boyfriend dearest called from the highway with hopes to order a take away lunch wherein we can swing by and get it. The guy didn't seem to understand what boyfriend was saying and, instead, told us to come in. Fun. We park and I stay in the car with my dog, because I am a responsible dog owner and NEVER leave my dog in the car unattended, while boyfriend runs in to grab lunch. He comes out and says they don't have what I wanted, Chicken Vindaloo, and have only a few things to choose from. Eyetwitch. No where on the menu does it say that the lunch special is limited to a few items. (Minus 1 Star) Because we were hungry and they had some sort of korma, which was what boyfriend wanted, I told him to surprise me. We also got a mango lassi because I wanted something sweet and tasty. He comes out with a big bag of food, deciding on butter chicken, chicken chili, and vegetarian korma. For our naan, garlic. It smelled delicious which was a good sign and I was willing to forget the lack of options for lunch. Now onto the food. Portions: A good size and worth the price if you are one of those gotta have quantity worth my bucks. We had left overs well into dinner. Taste: Pretty good. Korma was spicy but I found some hard vegetables in there I'm assuming are chilis that hurt my teeth. Chicken chili was delicious and spicy but perhaps a little more sauce would make me happy. Butter chicken was just ok. I'd eat it if it were in front of me again but I wouldn't order it. Mango lassi was divine! I would order it again and again. It was smooth and sweet and very mangoey. Sadly, the naan was not good... at all. I've had a small sample of naan in my foodie history but this one had to have been the worst. It was on the dry side and there was hardly any garlic taste to it at all. There were chunks of garlic on it but it was completely lacking flavor. Too bad. (Minus 1 star.) Verdict: I'd go back to try something else and I did enjoy my meal ( Plus 1/2 star).

This place gets an A+ in both food and service! My family and I were enroute from Yosemite national park to San Francisco city last night and were trying to find places to eat that we're open around 10. I called Dhaba Indian cuisine and they told us they would wait for us past their closing time. We ended up reaching the restaurant at 10:30 which was one hour past their cloaking time and found them waiting for us with delicious hot food. Everything we tried was amazing and I would definitely eat here again!

We live all the way up in Sonora, but we stop at Dhaba everytime we're headed to the Bay Area. We usually eat something there and than order more to take home. I could eat their Chicken Tika Massala twice a week for the rest of my life. And, after trying almost everything on the menu, I can recommend it all. Haven't had a bad dish yet.

service with a smile! I love their shahi paneer, it has the best gravy in town!!!

I have been meaning to eat at this restaurant for a long time. My brother would always rave about their butter chicken. Finally ate there this past Thursday and I am so glad that I did. It is not a big place, kind of hidden in a corner at a small shopping center off of the 205 and Grant Line. I ordered the butter chicken in memory of my brother, my son ordered lamb rogan josh, his girlfriend ordered a chicken and mushroom dish who's name escapes me now. We also ordered the garlic naan, chai tea, mango lassi and a regular lassi. We asked for medium heat and it was absolutely just the right amount of heat. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious. I do not say that about many restaurants. There was not a lot of people eating in the restaurant but they were very busy on the phone with to go orders. The only complaint I have is we had to ask for the chai several times and when they finally brought it when we were done with the meal and it was luke warm. I will definitely make this one of my go to restaurants. Very reasonable price. With an extra order of naan to eat with our leftovers, the bill only came to just under $50.

Wow! This place is unsurpassable when it comes to fine Indian Cuisine. I found Dhaba through yelp (big surprise), and decided to give it a whirl. This place will seriously rival any Bay Area restaurant. We had Samosa, Cucumber Raita, Garlic Nann, Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala. I honestly didn't find anything negative about any of the dishes or the service. I will without a doubt be returning here offten. Please do yourself a favor, and give Dhaba a try today!

Stumbled upon this place on my way to Tahoe from San Francisco. The place had wonderful ambience, food and service. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Garlic naan and gravy chicken is highly recommended. The portions were generous and the experience was very fulfilling indeed. :)

Wow, what a great find! We will for sure stop by here again next time we drive thru Tracy. I started off with some Chai tea; perfect for a cold rainy day. Then our family shared an order of samosa's; veggie kind. Next time we will put in 2 orders. All of our lunches were so tasty! I had the butter chicken and will probably order the same thing next time. Service and staff were great too!

  • Aaron R.

Stopped by at my friends insistence. Nan was undercooked. Butter chicken sauce tasted out of a packet. The chicken while cooked well, lacked flavor. Rice was bland. Wow to think I used to drive to Tracy just to eat here.

I don't often eat Indian food but I enjoyed the take out I had from this location and I would go back. Make sure to try the aloo gobi and some naan.

I came here for lunch yesterday since I had to be in Tracy for work. This was my 2nd visit to this place. I choose it based on Yelp reviews & I am happy I did. I got the lunch special, 2 item plate with butter chicken and tandoori chicken for $6.99. Everything was good. I also had a cup of chai. The chai was great. I'm no expert on Indian cuisine but I know what good food taste like & the food here is good.

I have only tried two Indian restaurants in my life, and this is REALLY good. I had the chicken tikki masala with the sauce, garlic naan ( too much garlic for me, but still good) and the vegetarian samosa, it was like a dream come true in my mouth. The food here has great flavor, chicken is tender, and the samosas have just the right amount of spice to them. I would recommend this place.

Having to work in an Indian/Pakistani restaurant for many years I find this place almost as good as it should be. The customer service we received was top notch, very friendly. The food was great but I've had better. It's a great little spot, especially for Tracy. It really fits and it's totally recommended if you want something different.

  • Jerry W.

Ate here with a group of 9 last week. Most of us got different items and shared. I had the Shrimp Vindaloo. All the food, including the Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken and the assorted Nan, was very good.

  • Avisha Nia W.

I recently had my college graduation dinner here for 20 people! I was really nervous because the service had been a little slow in the past but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm pretty sure we were one of the largest groups they've dealt with since they opened but they were very attentive and I think it helped that we had it fairly early before the rush started. All the food was amazing and every guest, even the picky eaters, left satisfied and full.

Dinner for 2 recommendation-- Share the Chicken Wrap, Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan. PLENTY of food with soooo much taste, promise to come back over and over again!

  • Nancy F.

I am not a curry lover but man is the butter chicken good if they ask you spicy they are refering to the strength of the curry flavor. The chicken tikka is a dry chicken fajita style on a bed of sizzling onions goes great with the garlic naan and masala sauce.

My first experience with Dhaba. My wife and I use to get take out from another Indian take out place, but they were closed so we thought we would give this place a try. We both really love Butter Chicken. We ordered two orders of Butter Chicken (Mild and Medium spice) with rice and Garlic Naan. We both agreed that this was a better Butter Chicken than the other place that we have been going to. The people working in the place smiled and were nice. They mentioned that they had a lunch buffet from 11AM-3PM. We are both looking forward to returning for the buffet to try a variety of other foods.

I went here for lunch for the first time recently. I really enjoyed the butter chicken, fluffy, fragrant basmati rice, and hot, buttery naan. (flatbread) The atmosphere was comfortable, and the service was good. I will return!

Great food, and I consider myself a reincarnated Indian--white as rice but with an unexplainable passion for saag paneer, samosas and biryani. You will love this flavorful food and top-notch service. I only have one problem here, and I think it relates to the reuse of pans, possibly. Twice I have eaten here, loved it, only to go home with severe symptoms of my shellfish allergy, even though I carefully avoided all potentially dangerous dishes. Just a warning in case you have a similar problem or perhaps are a strict vegetarian and don't want oils from shrimp or other meats in your food. I am dying to go back because it is a lovely place, but it's a potentially life-threatening problem for me. So sad! Please try this place because it will not disappoint. It's not so good for little kids who can't sit still well, as they have small, close tables, and the glassware will go flying with any major upheaval. It feels like a ladies' tearoom in that respect-- but takeout is always a great option. This food reheats very well.

I went for lunch and it was great. They put everything you order in these silver bowls and carry them on a large silver tray. The butter chicken was wonderful and creamy, the naan tasted so good and fresh. The people there were friendly and just gave me extra naan when I asked. The only thing I didn't like was that the food wasn't very spicy. I was really hoping the curry would have a nice burn to it, but the food was all relatively mild. Great place though, be sure to get the butter chicken.

  • Simran S.

Yummy food, nice people and good service. I've only picked up food to go and it's always been piping hot and ready right when I get there. Makes me wanna go get some for lunch now...mmmm.

  • Debbie M.

This is the best Indian resturant in the area. I love Indian food but often have a hard time finding a good Indian resturant. This place is great, my whole family loves it. Clean, fresh food & a good tea. The staff could be a bit friendlier, but the service is good & the lunch specials are great, especially if you bring a friend who isn't familiar with Indian food. They can sample a little bit of everything.

I tried this place today and love it! Do note, this place does not have buffet as some reviewers might have indicated but they do have Lunch Combo Specials. 1 entree for $5.99 (half naan) 2 entrees for $6.99 (1 whole naan) 3 entrees for $7.99 (1 whole naan) ok, the portions are pretty decent if you eat everything (good enough for a big eater). It comes with 1) Cucumber, lettuce tomato salad (tamarind or mint chutney) 2) A bowl of rice 3) A small side of rice pudding dessert 4) A small side of yogurt 5) A bunch of onion pakoras 6) Naan (I think you can get more if you want) 7) Your choice of entree/s There are 6 or 7 entrees to choose from but I can't remember all of them 1) Butter chicken 2) Lamb curry 3) Dal Makhni 4) A vegetable curry 5) Tandoori chicken I had both the butter chicken and the lamb curry. The flavors were very good. Meat was really tender and just the right amount of spicy kick for me. A tad much sodium but not really that noticeable. Note : if you can't take spicy, DO NOT COME HERE. Their mild is equivalent to medium at other restaurants. You will be downing water like crazy. My 2.5 year old does not really take spicy and I had to remove all the curry from the butter chicken and mix it in rice for him. He ate everything!! The server also gave me an extra bowl of rice for my son at no extra charge. Service is pretty decent and friendly as it's a cafeteria style. You go upfront to get all your food and pay for it at the end of the line. I also got a chai tea for $1.95. It was a little too sweet and the spices were on the light side but it's ok. 3*. I'll try the mango lassi the next time. If you're wondering about the ambience, it's like a sandwich shop. Car parking can be difficult during lunch time/peak period. I recommend you to go just before the crowd hits. Definitely will come back again. You can look up their menu at mobiletummy.com . Overhead this at the restaurant today when another guest was asking the owner why she was not able to find the menu at mobiledummy.com ! I tried really hard to hold back my laughter!!!!

Ahhh ... finally some good Indian food in Tracy! The hubby and I frequent this place often. Our regular order consists of the Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Mushroom Matar, and Naan (Garlic & Plain). The food is consistently good and the Masala is just to die for. We tried the Tandoori Chicken once, but it wasn't very flavorful. Maybe needs to marinate longer? But our regular order never fails and always satisfies our craving for something delicious.

  • Lance D.

Picked up chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, rogan josh, and garlic naan for take-out on a Saturday night. I wasn't overwhelmed by some immense awesomeness, but it was still good. The dinner came out to around $35. This is the best Indian I've had in Tracy so far, but I've only been to the Indian New York Cuisine Pizza. It was probably on par with Sansar in Livermore.

This place is really good! So far, one of the best Indian Restaurants I've been to. The Chicken Marsala is so good and the Mango drink is delish!

Everything is good here. There are too many favorites to list. I've never had a bad meal and the owners are so friendly and kind. Dhaba is definitely a must try.

So I have never had Indian food at all... but I tried Samsoas for the 1st over the weekend, and man was I craving some! After reading the reviews left by others I decided I would give it a whirl, the Samosas were really good and I also got the Garlic Naan, both items smelled soooo good. the 2 guys working were really nice as well. I will be trying other things soon so wish me luck J/K!

Cute, affordable, and good food. This Tracy gem is hidden in the central valley and is one people need to visit. I went here with my boyfriend for the first time on Saturday and was impressed. We had the plain naan, butter chicken, chicken curry and rice...Delicious! I would go back and order something from there veggie dishes.

  • Lisa L.

I've said it before. Tracy needs new places to dine, and I am hoping this one stays around a while. When I need an Indian food fix, it is nice to know this place is right around the corner. The food is fresh, and really good. I usually just try a mix of whatever they have in the buffet that day and have not been disappointed. The Butter chicken is especially delicious, and I recommend the Tandori chicken wrap, but be prepared - it's huge!

    (4)
  • r. m.

For my non-Indian family, it was pretty good. Nothing like my mom's food, though. I'm glad this restaurant opened up to provide variety in Tracy. Please be more diligent about cleaning up after customers leave since that makes your establishment more "classy."

  • Avneet B.

this place is the best indian food in tracy. Better than Sansar. Good thing to notice is their Butter Chicken doesnt have old nasty chicken in it. They use good chicken. Sansar uses dark old nasty chicken. I highly recommend Dhaha for take out! good service and awesome food!!!

Lunch is a bargain here. You can very yummy Indian food for around $7. Big portion too. Just give it a try even you never tried Indian food.

  • Bhawan S.

I have been going to Dhaba ever since it first opened. It is hard to imagine a restaurant in the valley top my list of favorite Indian restaurants in the world. And I am a traveler. Kadai Chicken is to die for. Paneer Tikka Masala is amazing. I always order my food spicy because I am used to eating spicy Indian food. The service is always fantastic as Manjit (the owner) is personally involved in making sure his customers are happy and enjoying their experience. My wife once cracked a joke to Manjit that we probably pay his electricity bill since we are there so much. You will not be disappointed. Many Indian restaurants will come and go because it is hard to repeat a recipe as complicated in flavors as restaurant Indian food, so you are lucky if you get the same thing you ordered last time. BUT, Dhaba has succeeded in this measure -- this I believe is why Dhaba is still around. Go taste the show, you will not be disappointed.

  • Shahnawaz K.

Oh man this food was great! I first heard of this place through a friend and decided to try it out; driving all the way from Lodi so my expectations were obviously high cuz gas ain't cheap. I ordered the appetizing "Samosa Chaat" the best I've had since Khalifa Kabob in Sacramento and then the main entree' the chiken wrap needless to say I was happy camper and that is the reason for the five stars... So, go and try it out and I wouldnt be surprised to see dhaba as the next Chipotle, Taco Bell....

We were excited to see a new Indian restaurant open here in Tracy!! A bit skeptical at first, but we were cravin' for Indian food and didn't want to make the drive out of town. We ordered take out and it was ok. The veggie samosas and dal makni were excellent. The chicken biryani and garlic naan were ok. We usually have butter chicken, but theirs missed the mark. It was very salty and didn't have much chicken....just a bunch of sauce. Overall the food was ok....we're hoping they're still ironing out the kinks, being that they are still so new. We may go back another time to check it out.

  • Krysta P.

I've had food here 3 times now and have every time ordered the same thing. I order something called "Kofta Kashmiri." It's a vegetarian dish, "dumplings" with a "gravy" sauce, served with rice, although, I'd describe it differently.. If you've had falafels, it's kind of like that with a thick orangish sauce. I have no idea what is in the sauce they use, but it is REALLY good. The dumplings, even when ordered as "mild" are a little spicy for me, but worth it. Also, I had never had Indian food before this (atleast, I don't remember ever trying it) and they must use different rice, or cook it differently, because it's so good. Especially if you put the "gravy" (their word) on it. You can probably tell I am not a food expert haha. Staff seemed friendly too. Anyway, this place has a high rating for a good reason and I'll be back. :)

  • V. D.

We stopped here on our way back from Yosemite and whatever we had was too good. I especially recommend the Kashmiri kofta dish which was great. If it were not too far from my place then would visit again.

Descent food. I only had 1 problem, the Tandoori Chicken we ordered was under-cooked and too much juices flowing out. Usually I can hang with that but this was too bloody and bubbly if you know what I mean. We went there in their first week of Grand Opening when we ordered it. I was going to say something but I didn't want to make a big fuss about it and have all the customers freak out so you guys owe me one! LOL... If anyone from Dhaba is reading this, just please correct that with your Tandoori Chicken - thanks! Will be checking in soon to see if things change...

  • Ronnie d.

We've been there many times and have never had a bad dish. One of our favorites is the chicken wrap, which we needed "to go" today on short notice. We walked in during a break when the restaurant was closed between lunch and dinner, yet they went above and beyond by cutting their break short and taking our order and getting it ready in no time! That is fantastic customer service, which I have to applaud since it is a rarity! We felt bad about having them interrupt their break to serve us, but promised a glowing Yelp review in return.

Summary, the food is great! I've lived in the area for 25 years and have wished for an Indian restaurant as good as what I've in the bay area. The food here was actually as good as food I've had in Singapore's Little India. We'll be going back!

Don't even know what it was that I ate. I tried a dish at the international food festival last month...........so delicious! I didn't like indian cuisine until now, I will definately eat here and scan the menu for whatever the heck that yellow chicken stuff was!

My husband and I LOVE this place. We come here all the time. I've never had bad service. Maybe that's because we always come for lunch (which is also cheaper.) We've even had them give us some extra sides of new dishes they'd like us to try. You can go for lunch and get rice, naan, a main dish, a little salad, and some type of appetizer for under $6. Try the chicken wrap, it's delicious!

This restaurant is a real gem. Great food, genuine service and wonderful value. Having grown up in "T" town, it's nice to see some restaurants coming into town that are unique. Definitely consider this!

  • Arianna G.

I adore this little place. If I ever even considered living in Tracy the fact that I would be able to order take out from here would be a highly considered pro. I've taken other people here that haven't been to indian food before just so they would know the good stuff before they encountered the more mediocre. Usually we have to double order on the naan. (There is always an unwritten understanding that we'll be chowing down on half before the rest of the food even gets to us.) There's a deep appreciation for the samosas and pakoras. I've tried most of the entrees and rice dishes. But I haven't gotten to the tandoori (though I hear from excellent sources that it's delicious) or the veggie dishes (I'll have to get to that one as my sources avoid anything pegged under the title veggie) The only thing I've encountered that I advise you to avoid unless you've got the most major sweet tooth in the world with beverages would be the Rooh Afza. Go with the Mango Lassi instead. Seriously.

I was THRILLED to find this little gem of a restaurant, in all places, TRACY! Just moving to Mountain House, I've been less than thrilled with the restaurant options and happened to stumble upon this place last night. My husband and I ordered the chicken tikki masala and the butter chicken. Both were amazing! Cooked and spiced perfectly with just the right amount of kick. It comes with basmati rice and we ordered the garlic naan to go with it. Friendly staff, good portions, and very reasonably priced. We got out of there with two entrees, the rice and naan for $25 - not too bad!

Me and my girlfriend were hungry, so we decided to stop here for lunch. The restaurant is small, but is in a good location. The music is blasted way too loud, and there seems to be no heat turned on, however our server was happy to accommodate my requests to adjust them. The food here is really good, and the service is excellent. My biggest complaint is that my food came out before my girlfriends, I would have liked them both to come out at the same time. Good prices, if you find yourself in the mood for Indian cuisine, I definitely suggest it.

We always get stakeout from Dhaba and we're never disappointed. Great Indian food and quick, friendly service. If you like Indian food, this is a place to try!

Love this place! Fantastic Indian food. We always get the chicken tikka masala and the butter chicken. We usually get it to go but sometimes get the lunch combo which includes a lot of food at a good price. The best Indian food miles around!!!!

I've just discovered fish wraps... heaven on earth and in Tracy of all places! A hot cup of chai goes well on a cold rainy night. They didn't complain that all I ordered was a fish wrap and chai, but they enticed me to get some gulab jamun as dessert. It was awesome.

Hey this place is not too shabby for a little town. Very customer service oriented, friendly staff, and they hooked us up big time because we were the last customers tonight. haha. Anyways, we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, aloonan, and garlic naaan. YUMM! I've got to say their Tikka Masala was perfect tonight..or was I just hungry? No, it was good. Rich, flavorful, soothing, & just a hint of spice to give the sauce a little kick. I've got to say I enjoyed their Masala more than both the Naan N Curries in the city & in Berkeley. Naan N Curry isn't doing it for me anymore..I don't know what happened. I'm getting side tracked...Go to this place, try it once, you'll be surprised! P.S. order take out...the portions are much larger than dining in. They're open till 930 during the week. Good atmosphere here. Pretty snazzzzy for Tracy. :) Update: Went back here again and everybody loved their meal. This time we tried their butter chicken and it was just as good as the Chicken Tikka Masala! Try this place. My momma liked it and she doesn't really like spicy food, but she liked this place. 2nd Update (July 09): Just fyi...went here again. We cleaned our plates. Still by far the best Indian food I've had in a while and it's in TRACY!!!

Dhaba has the best indian food in Tracy. I've been to the other places in town, but this one has the best flavor. My kids even love this place :). The butter chicken is great, and the curry that i like the best here. The saag paneer, chicken korma, chicken tikka are other really good dishes that they serve there. I agree with some of the other posters, about the amount of time it takes to get food. Every time i've visited, there has been a wait of close to 30 minutes to get the food. It's worth the wait, but good to be prepared for waiting around for the food to arrive. if you are ordering to go, i suggest calling ahead, that way you can shorten your wait. all in all, if you are looking for indian, this is the place to go in tracy.

Just moved to Tracy from the east bay... had the cravings for good Indian food so i decided to read the reviews on Yelp. I tried Dhaba for lunch and I had a lunch combo of chicken tandoori, lamb dish, fried veg, rice and garlic nan. Well... let's say I've had better in other places. Chicken tandoori was OK as well as the garlic nan. The lamb dish was blah, the rice was overcooked and the batter used on the fried veg was heavy and thick... it was mostly batter, YUCK! I regret not trying the butter chicken.... in spite of my so-so review of this place, I will still go back for at least the garlic nan and maybe try the butter chicken.

WORST SERVICE EVER. And my family is *easy*....we've been servers and involved in hospitality, and try to be as low maintenance as possible, and I can guarantee we'll never revisit this place. It took 20 minutes to get drinks, and over an hour later, the only thing that had been delivered were the lamb samosas our friends had ordered. How were our veggie samosas? I have no idea, because they never arrived. How was the garlic naan, and the naan stuffed with potatoes? I have no idea, because they never arrived. An hour and 20 minutes into it, a plate of my tandoori chicken came...with no accompaniments. And my husband's a veggie, and none of my friends' dishes were there, so I couldn't eat it anyway. An hour and a half into it, I finally told the server, "You know at this point, we're just going to need everything to go -- it's been well over an hour, other tables arriving after us have already been served, and our kids aren't going to be able to sit here and eat." So our out-of-it server comes back and plops down a couple of bags and to-go boxes, AND THE CHECK, even though half our dishes were still MIA!! Eventually he delivered our two other dishes (my friends' stuff is still not out) -- plopping them down randomly on the table without saying what they were, and saying something about how there's only one cook, and it "gets backed up". What's really aggravating is that all of these dishes made it onto our check. Just not onto our freaking table. The owner or someone who took a little responsibility apologized and said he'd just come back from catering some event or something, and his people "weren't trained" (uh...ok....), and here are some 20% off coupons for "next time". We live 2 hours away! And ain't coming back! So he took 10% off our checks...and my husband tells me that when we were rung up, they still charged us for the freaking samosas that never came. Just crazy. But at least we saved $3.04 for the trouble. After 2 hours there with incredibly patient kids (3-yr old and my 5-month old) and NO DINNER, we left, and went to Burger King of all places. At least we finally had some food we could eat.

ive only been here twice...my biggest complaint is the spice isnt spicy for me...i always order spicy and it never seems to actually be spicy...and for the amount of money im paying id want t to be what i order...id much rather stay at tandoori nites here in stockton...but i went here because someone i know lives here and wanted to get them a late dinner treat...nice restaurant and nice ppl...but spicy should mean spicy..

I love this place! Service is always impeccable and they treat all patrons well. I have had great experiences here with clients and with my family. We always order the dhaba special chaat, which is two samosas bathed in chana masala, cilantro, yogurt and tamarind sauces. We also get the assorted naan basket (garlic, onion, whole wheat and coconut/marachino cherry), chicken korma and rice. The lunch buffet is very popular, but we like ordering off the menu and getting our dishes medium-spicy. For beverages, u must try the mango lassi and chai at least once. They are too good for words!

After reading the reviews for this place at least twenty times, Husband and I decided to finally give in and try it last night. We went in at around 6:30 or so, and there weren't many people there. Pretty typical for a Monday night, I suppose. We ordered our food (veggie samosas, garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and butter chicken) to go, and were told it'd take about ten minutes. It probably took closer to thirty, but I was pretty well prepared for this after reading the reviews here. The guy running tables was super nice, and the food was definitely worth the wait. The samosas were delicious with the tamarind and mint sauces, the butter chicken was divine, and the garlic naan was perfect. The spice in the chicken tikka masala sauce was overwhelming, but I think that may be because I ordered the medium variation instead of the mild out of habit. Our meal came with a HUGE portion of rice, and I believe the cost was right around $31. The two of us ate our fill last night, and have more than enough left over for lunch (and possibly even dinner) tonight. All in all, it was a good experience. I'd definitely return, although I'd make sure to do so when I'm not on any sort of time limit. Husband was pretty turned off by the spice in the chicken tikka masala, but said he'd go back too, if for nothing other than the naan. If you don't want to deal with the wait, Dhaba delivers from 5-9pm on orders over $35.

(Just updated to add the fifth star) I am tempted to give this place five stars. It is among the very "best at what it does" restaurants in Tracy (granted not much of a bar to jump) but also one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to. And, I've eaten lots of Palak Paneer over the years, all over the country, including the big Indian neighborhood in NYC. Not had anything here that I didn't like. Plan to bring a group of friends. I'd recommend lunch for first-timers, since it's easier to sample several items at lunch. At dinner, I'd order three entrees for up to four people. We ordered three for two and took a lot home. I think this is an excellent value. Dinner costs about what sit-down Mexican costs. We need to support this place because it's in a hard-to-find location and deserves to stay around.

I have eaten here several times. Always great service and the foods is great! The lunch deals always have a nice variety from which to choose. The portions are just right and you leave feeling very satisfied. They staff is always friendly and welcoming ;)

Just an update - we still LOVE this place. Have now tried the lunch and it's the best deal in town. They also now have their beer and wine license, so you may order either or bring a bottle and they WILL cork it for you! :) This place is great and is now always packed when we go - which we do about once a week!

The food was good. Service was good. Venue is small and a little stuffy. My experience was ruined by a short black hair in the butter chicken. -shudders-

This review is only for their vegetarian lunch special. I am from India and have really high standards for Indian food. So this review might not be in line with the others you see here. The palak paneer & aloo matar was very disappointing. Even the sweets ( gulab jamun & kheer) were not up to the mark. The service was equally disappointing. I waited at the counter a while after my lunch plate was ready before they took my payment. The counter guy just wasn't trained to handle too many people & multi tasking. I had almost finished my lunch before I was served Nan. You could find more authentic Indian food @ Tracy Indian Cuisine.

The service is great, the food is WONDERFUL! The prices are very reasonable as well. The chicken wrap, the butter chicken, and the samosa pastries are fantastic! I'm a regular at this place and would recommend it to anyone who likes indian cuisine. My family and I make sure to go at least once a month!

We received a menu for Dhaba in the mail, after reading the available fare we were extremely excited to try it. This was some of the best Indian I have ever had. The service was wonderful, everyone was extremely polite and attentive. One of those experiences where your needs are anticipated before you even have to ask for anything. The interior was what I would describe as bistro style, not overly fancy but nice. However the tables were rather small, so watch how much food you order :-) The food, oh wow! We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala (medium spiciness), Tandoori Chicken, Garlic Naan, and I just had to try the Gulab Jamun (they were very nice when I had a brain fart and asked for a dessert called "Aloo Ghobi" *blush*, once I explained what it was I was OK). All of that came to $29! The chicken Tikka Masala was delicious it had just the right amount of spiciness, and was very creamy. It came with Basmati Rice on the side. We were trying to figure out how to lick the bowl clean because it was THAT good but the darn bowl was sloped wrong!! LOL . The Tandoori Chicken came out "sizzling hot" on a cast iron pan and was cooked to perfection it wasn't dry or tough and was spiced perfectly. I am sure that NONE of this food was under a heat lamp back there, our order took a while (a while compared to the places that they don't actually COOK it while you wait, but not long.. maybe 20 minutes or so) but everything tasted fresh out of the kitchen and was well worth it. Even the rice was deliciously spiced I'm not totally sure with what but I saw a bay leaf and some fennel seeds in it. The Naan was nice and garlicky and great with the Tikka Masala sauce. The Gulab Jamun was FRESH and very hot!! It's been years since I have had Gulab Jamun they didn't pre-make and toss in the refrigerator to serve to some poor sap that didn't know any better. I am SO pleased with this experience I rushed straight home and wrote this review. I still have "happy tummy". I will be back, and often. They even gave me some extra rice to go with the left-over tandoori chicken for my lunch tomorrow. I didn't even ask, they just heard me telling my boyfriend I was going to go home and steam some to go with it! I feel like I should write a card to the manager thanking him or something, this is the best customer service and food experience I have had for a while in Tracy. I am so sick of the whole staff in a restaurant treating me like I am annoying them and they would rather there weren't any customers in their Establishment, and I am equally sick of paying $60+ for terrible food.

I first saw some newspaper ads for this place, and everytime me and my boyfriend drive by on Grant Line Rd. he always mentions we should eat here. Yesterday after work I was planning on cooking some dinner, but I had no idea what time my bf would get home, so I ordered take out from here instead. Their open sign was on and it was a little past 9pm. I tugged on the door but it didn't budge, so I pouted and turned around back to my car. Then some man ran out asking if I was waiting for someone, I said no I thought they were closed. He said that the door was just hard to open because it was so damn windy outside. Therefore I felt like an idiot, because about 10 people inside eating watched me weaklessly try to open a door that was unlocked but didn't have the willpower to open. Haha. Anyways, I ordered 2 orders of vegetable Samosas because that's the bf's favorite. It only took them 5-10min. to have ready, and getting 4 Samosas for only around $5 is quite a deal. They smelled really good and I've never tried Indian food in my entire life, so I was considering trying some myself when I got home. I did and I was pleasantly surprised! The flaky crust, the warm potatoes, the peas, the slight spice from the cumin in the background...really good! Considering that I'm a really picky eater and I don't like to try new things sometimes, I was really impressed. I'm sure to come back here and actually sit down and have a full meal.

This was a great find off the highway when we took a lunch+fuelling break in Tracy on the way to Yosemite when my cousin and her hubby were visiting from France. We ordered the 3 entree thali and shared it among the 3 of us. We ordered some extra naan. My guests were very impressed with their first desi lunch in the US outside home.

I love Indian food! And, I love Dhaba! The lunch specials are much more affordable for me, personally. But, my kids love it, too! I wish their dinner menu was less pricey. We would go there more often.

The Butter Chicken is to die for! This was my first Indian Restaurant (I've only eaten the Trader Joe's stuff prior) and I am so glad I went. The service was very friendly and all the food was delicious. The Naan bread came right out of the oven and was delivered to our table fresh and steamy. I definitely will be going back to this place!

  • Monica S.

I like the food here. My three friends and I ordered combo lunches and were very pleased with the kadai chicken, butter chicken, lentils, spinach, croquette, tomato rice, nan, and mango lassi (yum!). The prices were reasonable (under $7 for a two entree lunch). The tandoori chicken was just OK because it lacked flavor (I make a better one), but to be fair, we did show up late for lunch and you know how chicken gets under a heat lamp. If I lived nearby Tracy, I would go again without hesitation.

I love getting lunch takeout here. Their food is always fresh and hot, quality is consistent and variety is good. Fresh made naan comes with your lunch, you can choose 1 item, 2 or 3. It is not oily and very flavorful.

my taste buds were in heaven. i can't wait to eat my leftovers tomorrow. i ordered so much food but I'm glad i did. i can't wait to go back and try a bunch of other stuff. i got the lamb samosa which was very good. the chicken pakoras extremely good pretty much my favorite. the garlic naan was so tasty. My entree the Rogan Josh which was a lamb curry was delicious and the flavor supreme. topped it all off with their mango kulfi (ice cream)

Don't judge Dhaba by the outside. This is first class Indian food! From the quality of ingredients to some of the best Nan bread I have had, I was very impressed and satisfied. Get the Lamb tiki Marsala, you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I tried Dhaba last night and absolutely loved it! This was also our first real experience dining on Indian food as we both have been nervous about trying it due to my sensitive stomach. After leaving there and popping a couple Rolaids (just in case) I felt I had just enjoyed something truly wonderful. I ordered the shrimp masala and it was so creamy and decadent. We had garlic naan (heavenly), chicken pakoras, and my husband had chicken vindaloo. We shared everything and were left full and happily content. My only complaint is my shrimp were overcooked so were quite rubbery. No big deal since this was easily one of my best dining experiences in Tracy in a while. Telling all our friends and family to join us next time because we will definitely be back.

I just went there for the first time yesterday, after wanting to try it out forever. I had the cheese naan, a cup of chai, and the chicken tikka. The naan came out a little burnt, but the main course was to die for. The portions do seem small for the price you pay, I only received a half portion of naan, where as in the city, i received a full portion. This led me to run out of naan about 3/4 of the way into my meal, leaving me to rely on a fork to finish off the rest of my meal. The tables could be a tad bigger as when the food was placed my date and I felt a tad cramped. The service started off great, but quickly fell off, at the end of the meal. My date had to fetch her own to go container, and we waited forever to receive to the check, and he didn't split it as requested. I will try the other place in town first before deciding if I am coming back to this location.

This place possibly has the best naan ever. The garlic naan is awesome, they bake cilantro and minced garlic into the bread and it is amazing. The butter chicken is good..not great, but still, totally worth it with the naan. They make a mean palak paneer, too. I love that this place actually makes it spicy when I ask them to.

  • Chris G.

Good food and good service. If they only had a lunch buffet I'd give them 5 stars because out of all the Indian restaurants I've been to, they're the only one without a buffet. Come on guys!

  • Zombified C.

I've been going here since they opened. Since changing owners, the service and food has suffered a small amount, but it's still excellent and I go here once every couple of weeks (though less than I used to, which was 2-3 times a week). The other Indian places in Tracy, even the new one that opened up in the mall, are pretty good but nothing beats Dhaba.

  • Critic I.

Food here is amazing!! Though the price is pretty expensive... if only they are cheaper i'll give 6 stars! haha! Seriously, $14+tax+tip = around $16 for 2 whole Naan and single order of Chicken Tikka Masala? Kinda expensive.. but sure, it tastes good!

Very good food, quick, efficient service. Went in craving for some simple food, told our waiter so and he rattled off a list of things we could order! We heard of this place from friends and made a trip there. We picked up food to entertain friends. Most of the food didn't disappoint. Really tasty food. We had onion bhaji, dahi papdi chaat and tea in the restaurant. They were very tasty. The service could be marginally better, but no complains as such. Can go back there again.

The best Indian food around, hands down. They are consistently good and their service is excellent too. We haven't had anything we didn't like however, our favorites are Butter Chicken Shrimp Saag Tandoori Chicken and Garlic Naan Excellent choice if your in the Tracy area. Also if you check in with yelp you get a 10% coupon. What are you waiting for

Best Indian food I have had around the Bay Area. And that's saying a lot, because there are plenty of other good Indian restaurants. You would not have guessed that a random place like that would be this good, let alone the best. Every dish I have ordered here was top notch, meat or vegetarian. I highly recommend the Baigan Bharta, the Aloo Gobi, and the Veggie Somosa. The family that owns it is also very sweet and helpful. It's hard for me to not eat there at least once a week.

Came here on an impromptu date...original plan was to go to shorter's, but they have closed down and will be relocating to a bowling alley nearby...won't be open til July. My heart broke, and I just got done crying somewhere in a corner. I'll be ok. Anyways... Got seated after we were standing for a while looking at the menu at the front, and I ordered the palak paneer (spicy) and since my date never had Indian, I felt responsible for making sure he didn't die that night, so I chose the tandoori chicken for him with the roti on the side. Lots of food, too good of a price (I'm a great first date girl), and saw him suffer a bit when he tried my palak paneer...he's not a spicy guy, hence me hoping he survived when I offered to share my meal. It had the right about of spice, dull heat in your chest like an ember, but I loved it. His dish was also amazing, along with the roti. Make sure to put the lemon on your chicken so the flavor of the yogurt can pop! All in all, I'll definitely be back here! Polite staff and very attentive.

This place was better than good. Excellent service very clean and great peaceful ambiance. Ordered a variety of dishes and all were great.,mixed grill, butter chicken, garlic naan. All dishes were served very hot,and fresh from the kitchen.Everyone here was very proud to serve good quality food and service. Enjoyed every minute of it will definitely make this a favorite now. We are full now, and sweet slumber calls...but someday soon my friends...we shall return to the Dhaba.

Delicious food with a cheap budget. We stopped here for lunch on the way to Yosemite, and I am glad we did. Its a small place, with about 8 tables for four people each. The food is in good quantities, and is delicious. Check in on yelp, to use offers. We had an offer of 10% off on dinner and take outs, which didn't help us cause we were there for lunch. We all ordered the lunch combos. I ordered the combo with one entrée, butter chicken, one of the best versions I have had. The combo comes with rice, naan, raita, pokora, salad and sweet. If you do not prefer naan, you can also ask for the option of two rice bowls. Two of us took naan, and they gave us about 10-12 pieces of naan; we ended up having only 4 pieces of naan, with rice. I would have loved to visit this place again, if I lived nearby.

NEVER AGAIN!! We only had to wait a couple of minutes to be seated without menus. After about 5 minutes we finally got up and retrieved a couple of menus. The waiter finally brought us some water and at this point we are ready to order, but he has to wait on another table first. After going to the register to entering their orders he brings food out to other tables. Finally he makes it back to our table to take our order. We order 4 items, shrimp vindaloo, butter chicken, naan, amd cucumber salad. 15-20 minutes pass amd here comes our chicken and shrimp. He looks at us like he has brought all our food out. I tell him we are still waiting for naan and cucumber salad. He gives us a look of possible acknowledgement and then runs off to another table. The chicken and shrimp dishes were ok. We have better in the bay area. He never refills our water and never brings us the rest of our dinner. Since were done and can't get any acknowledgement, I stand in line for over 10 min just to pay our bill, still hungry as we didn't get half our dinner!! Never Again!!

Excellent food. However sometimes it is a bit too hot when I've asked for mild. But almost addictive! Their Chicken Tika Masala is to die for. I always overeat here. Only complaint would be that service can be sort of slow. But the food makes it worth the wait. Go here! If you haven't had Indian food you'll be a convert and if you have had it you'll love it!

Had take out from this place tonight for dinner. The butter chicken from this place was one of the best I tasted. Everything else was a little above average. . But I wished I had ordered more of that butter chicken!

We love getting Indian from Dhaba. The food is great and the employees are very nice. It is very convenient to order take out online, which we like to do. The Butter Chicken, Saag Panir, and Lamb Tika are all excellent dishes. We also like to get the garlic naan.

I've tried this place once a couple years ago and I absolutely loved it. Who knew my favorite Indian Restaurant would be in Tracy, CA? Now that I live in this city, I'm definitely going to frequent this place often.

Mmmmmm butter chicken. My first try was a recommendation. Now I come because I love it.

I'm pretty sure this is the best Indian food in the area. I'm from San Francisco originally, so I have a pretty high standard for restaurants. Sadly in Tracy there are VERY FEW authentic places to go eat. Dhaba is really good though. It can't quite compete with some of my fav's from the city, but it's still really good. I'm not gonna dock them a star just because they don't stack up to the best Indian food in SF! I'm not mean like that! HA!! Ok, so anyway if you have picky eaters in your group, go for the butter chicken-that's your safest bet-it's wonderful and full of flavor. They also do an EXCELLENT tandori chicken. Garlic nan is bomb too. We get the saag panir (spinich with cheese) and we like that too. Go try the place, you won't be disappointed.

Best Indian food in Tracy I absolutely love this place and before I ate here I wasn't a huge fan of Indian food. Thanks to my husband I tried this place and fell in love. Everything is so rich creamy and full of flavor! You must try this place!

We ate here about 6 months ago. It was ok but I have my favorite dishes - palak paneer and chicken tikka masala - which were good but didn't taste the way I am used to compared to the Bay Area. The restaurant is a little unique because it is kind of structured more for fast food than a sit-in place to dine. A lot of people came when we were there to get take out, so it is definitely popular. As a result though, our food was a little slow to come out. I would go back and try some other dishes.

We get lunch here all the time. It's always delicious.

The one star is for bad service. Haven't tasted the food, because we had to leave due to no one attending the table ( even after we waited for 20 minutes after sitting at a shared table)

Came here this afternoon at 230pm food was good but the customer service was horrible. First did not get proper instruction either to find a seat sit down or wait for them to sit is down. Finally found a seat after the rude male owner was looking at us crazy. Order took for every because the lady working was the hostess waiter and busier like seriously they try to save money but service is slow. Lady messed up on the order seems like they wanted to close and leave. Heard there is another good Indian place in Lathrop I need to try that. I wanted to give you a 0 start.

Best Indian food I have had in a long time and by far the best in the Stockton area. Walk in or take out at reasonable prices. 10% off with yelp check in offer. Butter chicken Very buttery and flavorful. A go to dish. 4.5/5 Lamb curry If you like lamb I would recommend this. Not too "gamey" taste. 4.5/5 Overall, a good place to stop by for lunch or dinner if you are heading to the bay area from stockton. I will be coming back

    (5)
  • Myrna Y.

Rude! Ok, if you're closed at 3:20pm LOCK the door! We walk in, and guy at the counter just shakes his head waving that they're closed! Poor customer service! Never going back!

Moving up to the Tracy area from the Peninsula I was a little worried that there would be no good restaurants but oh how happy I was at finding Dhaba. I regularly cook Indian food at home but being very time consuming it's nice to have a good local restaurant you can go to instead. My Husband and I have dined here a few times now and have found each dish we have had very enjoyable. It's no surprise that our British Indian friends recommended this place to us. Yes.. Us Brits really do have high standards for Indian food. * Mixed Platter Starter ( yelp.com/biz_photos/dhab… ) - $5.95. Comes with Samosa, Aloo Tikki and Vegetable Pakora. Tasty, albeit a little greasy. Could be improved by having more than one of the Samosa, Aloo Tikki, about 70% of the plate was Pakora. * Lamb Samosa ( yelp.com/biz_photos/dhab… ) - $3.99. Tasty, flavorful. Little greasy. * Chicken Vindaloo ( yelp.com/biz_photos/dhab… ) - $10.95 * Chicken Madrass ( yelp.com/biz_photos/dhab… ) - $10.95 * Chicken Tikka Masala ( yelp.com/biz_photos/dhab… ) - $10.95 All come with Rice ( yelp.com/biz_photos/dhab… ) and are very flavorful with ample amounts of both sauce and meat which are perfect for ''family style'' Dining. You get a choice of how spicy you want them too. I recommend at least Medium. All of the Breads are decent too and although in India you typically do not eat Bread and Rice with Curry I personally can't have one without a good Naan Bread.. either Garlic or Plain where my Husband prefers the Roti. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/dhab… ). Staff are good keeping water glasses filled and making sure you are enjoying your meal too. They do not have a buffet here (thank goodness) but you can get good Lunch specials from $5.99.

  • Rita A.

Loved my chicken tikka masala! I couldn't get enough of it. The naan was yummy. I would of given a perfect 5 stars except my chicken tandoori was slightly dry because I think it was re-heated.. It still tastes great & I will for sure be ordering take out from here again.

Pretty good. Ordered lamb and chicken biryani. Lamb is my favorite. The meat is tender. Add India beers on side and a glass of Mango lassi. You will walk out fulfilled and belly full.

The interior of this place is unassuming but I noticed it was near Indian shops and the clientele was mostly Indian so I knew I had to stumble upon something good. I didn't want something heavy so I ordered the chicken tandoori. It was probably one of the best tandoori dishes I've had. It was juicy and tasty and just the perfect portion size! I found the naan to be a little too burnt for my taste but overall it was hard to beat this Indian restaurant's dishes. There is a reason why this was full on a week night!

  • Denise D.

Really Nice food. Delicious palak paneer and naan. They assemble a very pretty plate with little sides included. Very nice people. We sat in the patio and they even brought out a bowl of water for my dog.

  • Amanda K.

One of my favorite Indian restaurants, and I've eaten at many across the country. Their dishes are a little different than other restaurants, but the owner says it's a regional thing. We love the butter chicken, saag paneer, lamb tikka, and the garlic naan. So good! We also learned that if you order for take out you get almost twice as much food than when you eat in, for the same price! You can order online and they will also deliver if your order is over $50. The staff has always been very friendly as well. Great place to eat!

  • Ralph C.

First off, Thank you for being patient and so hospitable with me. The few times I've had Indian food it was with serious Foodies and I was able to sit back and just enjoy. So I appreciate the help when I walked up with my look of sincere bewilderment. Secondly, your food is amazing and the different flavors flowed excellently. The best part is having a bag of my left overs. :) Keep up the great work and I appreciate you making me such a wonderful lunch.

Honestly wasn't expecting much out of this place. Their food was great and had a personal twist. Service was actually good considering that there was one guy taking orders and serving and answering the phone at the same time. Wouldn't have noticed a difference if I was watching him running around. Pretty impressive. Food was good, not oily, or overly done. The right amount of spices and priced well.

My family and I have been getting food from here since the day they opened several years ago. We haven't ever been disappointed. My mom brings food from here at least once every two weeks from here. Yes...that's how much we love this place! The staff has always been soo amazing!! The food is absolutely delicious! Being Indian myself, I know what good Indian food tastes like and this is it! Some personal family favorites are....naan, butter chicke, saag paneer, daal makhanai. navratan korma, chana masala, mattar paneer, aloo gobi, goat curry, biriryani, chicken wrap, and the list goes on. They have catered to quite a few parties we have been to as well and always go above and beyond to make their clients happy. They are reasonably priced and have great prices for catering as well! Never will I go to another Indian restaurant besides Dhaba in the 209.

Food is excellent service not so much, either they discriminate or they just happen to be busy both times I have been but they take forever to even acknowledge I am standing there which is odd. Also, they were quick to acknowledge a group who came in right after me - so... Both times I almost walked out but went against my better judgement just because I was tired and hungry. Won't try it again.

It's no shocker why Dhaba has such high ratings - the food, the food, the food. It's just that good. Every dish on the menu... like literally every dish on the menu is made with such expert craftsmanship and detailed quality. My family lives in Tracy and they order from Dhaba at least once a week. It's a very casual restaurant if you want to dine in but it's also extremely convenient for take out. The three major must-orders are: 1. Butter Chicken - mind-blowing creamy, buttery and flavorful sauce with tender chicken breast meat. Order it spicy for an added kick! 2. Lamb Curry - spicy, intensely flavorful and thick viscosity - the three most important characteristics of a good lamb curry sauce. And the meat is juicy, fatty, tender and fall-of-the-bone. What more can you ask for? 3. Mango Lassi - thick, creamy, sweet and absolutely delicious drink. If you're into sweet lassis, definitely try branching out to try this mango one. It's their specialty and is certainly one of a kind. Happy Eating, Yelpers!

I know its my first time here but I just had to give them the full five stars! Baigan bharta was nice & smoky. Butter chicken had layers of flavor. Ofcourse their chai was amazing. I could tell it was going to be good by its spice filled aroma. Hit the spot. Indian is getting to be my top food list.

    (5)
  • John L.

Unlike most Indian Restaurants where the aroma of their herbs and spices are just too overwhelming, Dhaba Restaurant gets it right - just the exact blend to bring out that authentic Indian whiff. The Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken) comes as advertised but it is their vindaloo dish that always hits the mark. Whether it's chicken, lamb, goat, or shrimp, the taste is excellent! Their curry and masala sauces are as tasty as they get and the family is a fan of their pakoras (fish, aloo (potato), and ghobi (cauliflower)). There is 'naan' better than Dhaba! =)

    (5)
  • Shashank S.

This is coming from an Indian. The food is not really great. The biriyani was soggy and hideous. They use the same masala base for lamb and chicken biriyani. Hurr this turns me off. I gave the 2 stars because of the fast service and just that I have to give few stars .... I wouldn't come back to his or recommend it anyone else.....

I love this place. I crave it all the time. I will drive from Modesto to eat here. The people that work here are super nice! The butter chicken is soooo good!! I would recommend to anyone.

We typically go to Livermore's Clay Oven to have great Indian food, but i'm glad we decided to give Dhaba Indian Cuisine a try. We decided to order take out to better accommodate our 15 month old who isn't known for sitting still for too long. On this particular trip we order the mix platter appetizer which was a great way to try a little bit of everything, the chicken tikka , which even though was good I found it to be a bit dry and finally the classic chicken tikki masala which in my opinion was delcious and flavorful . Our only real criticism is that they combined both the garlic naan and the plain naan, so my wife and daughter weren't able to enjoy it seeing as neither like garlic. Additionally my wife found the food to be on cold side once we got to the house and their customer service was a bit slow ( i was the only customer there sunday 2pm ).

Butter chicken & chili chicken is what brings me back time after time!!! Fairly new to the Central Valley and for quite some time we've had trouble finding a good indian restraunt, but since I've found this place, the search is over. Great food & great service.

Months later, still amazing every time. Every single time we have ordered we were never disappointed. Have brought over countless friends and family members and anything they ordered was awesome too. You can't go wrong here.

  • Sarang Z.

The prices on the menu on the wall are "OUT OF DATE". He told us that after he charged our cards. When we asked him why did not he told us that before. He told us that menu cards lying in the corner are up to date but prices on 4 feet by 4 feet menu on wall are out of date! After much arguing he admitted his fault and processed the refund. Do your business with ethics! If you are going to lie or steal customer's money your customers are going to bring you down. Be aware!

  • Valana D.

The service is good as long as you go before it gets crowded and your patient explaining what you want. The food was awesome and definitely worth the language barrier. The food was off the hook. Especially the Chicken Tikka Masala and Onion Kulcha.

This place was so delicious I ate till I could no more. My family order the chicken masala and the butter chicken with Nan's. To die for

Great food! Tandoori chicken and butter chicken with basmati rice today for lunch...I heard the Dhabha wraps are good too! Ohhh and the Naan hot and fresh!

I cannot believe that I have never written a review for Dhaba. It is not only one of my favorite Indian restaurants, it is one of my favorite restaurants period. We gladly made the drive from Stockton just to eat here. I normally start with the veggies samosas. We love the combo of the tamarind and spicy mint/cilantro sauce in top. For entrees we have tried quite a few dishes. Our favorite is their Chicken Makhni (Butter Chicken). We order it every single time we come. They will tell you it is one of their most popular dishes. We also normally get their Vegetable Navaratan Korma. We have tried their Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo and a few others. All have been top notch. They dishes come with rice and ordering their Garlic Naan is a must... Although their plain Naan and cheese Naan is good. Besides a place in the Bay and my other favorite place in Sac (Khatmandu Kitchen) Dhaba is better than all other Indian places we have tried. The food just seems more flavorful and richer. The portions are a reasonable size. Once you have the rice and Naan, two dishes are more than enough for two and could probably feed 3. The cost us $10-$12 a dish which is average. The place is not real big...maybe 10 tables. I have never been here for lunch but they do have a buffet, which I will have to try since all their popular dishes are on it. If you have never tried Indian food...Try Dhaba! If you have tried Indian food and didn't care for it...Try Dhaba! Just like there is bad American food or less quality you may have just had a bad experience. If you think Indian food is just curry and you will smell like curry coming out...Wrong! Try Dhaba? I just wish it were in Stockton. Please never close Dhaba.

So I'm giving this place 2 stars only because my family and I have frequently eaten here. The food is amazing. That is until today. I decided to have a small get together to celebrate the upcoming birth of my new baby. About a quarter into our meal my friend saw a huge roach stuck to the inside of her soda glass. Needless to say, none of us could touch our food after that. The owner apologized and said oh that happens a lot, flies. He tried to say it was a fly because there were a few other full tables. It was clearly a roach!! He didn't offer to compensate any part of our meal. I will never ever return to this place!!Gross!!

The butter chicken is the absolute best!!!! Kinda pricey but well worth it

  • Alex N.

We are frequenting this restaurant because Dhaba has always been consistent when it comes to the quality of food as well as the service. In our countless visits we have never had a bad experience. The restaurant is small and has a modest and simple decor. If you generally enjoy northern indian or Punjabi cuisine, you will enjoy their offerings. The Lamb Korma and The Lamb Tikka are dishes we order quite often but the extensive menu leaves room for exploration. The lamb, the shrimp and the vegetarian dishes are outstanding! Personally I'm not a fan of chicken so I can't speak for that. I would steer away from the fish dishes only for the reason that, while the execution of the dish is perfect, the choice of fish isn't. Overall though: One of the best places to eat in Tracy

    (4)
  • Shalveen C.

One of the best indian restaurants in Tracy Ca highly recommended for folks who enjoy indian food. Friendly staff and accomodating taking time to ask us if everythingis ok while we were enjoying our food. Lamb biryani, chilli lamb, butter chicken and chicken tikka are all very delicious even their mango lassi is very good also.

    (4)
  • Kyle N.

Always consistent, and always delicious. I normally get the Mango chicken or the Chicken Tika Masala and they're both awesome! Their garlic naan is piled high with fresh garlic and exactly what I want but don't get from other places. The prices are reasonable and I normally spend just under $30 for two people before a tip. There's a particular server that is a little less customer-oriented, but I've really had no major issues. I work in Tracy, but I've driven from Livermore just to eat here, when there's 3-4 lesser quality Indian places closer to me.

Bathroom clean? Check Delicious and Plentiful Mixed Platter? Check Shrimp Saag with large shrimp and flavorful? Check Fish Vindaloo (mild) with the right amount of spice? Check Garlic Baan and Basmati rice (included with dishes) generous? Check Wrapped/packaged our leftovers? No :( Would I recommend to a friend? Check

Perfect except they didn't offer brown rice. Still 5 stars.

    (5)
  • Ellen M.

Soooo good. Too much food, though! (Was has that ever been a problem?) They were a little busy when I got there, but was still able to sit outside. We waiting on the nann for a long time (was almost done with my meal by the time it came) and for my chai - which when I did get it, it was cold. But if you just want to eat the food and not worry about the rest - I'd try this place out!

  • Chiku C.

Serving good food once can be incidental, serving good food consistently every time is called perfection... This review is based on my yet another dinner experience at Dhaba (after almost a gap of over a year or so) and both food and service were excellent! Ordered: Dal Makhni, Karahi Paneer, Mixed vegetable, Kashmiri Kofta, Tandoori Roti and Garlic Naan. All dishes were good with Kashmiri Kofta being so delicious that we asked for a repeat. Breads were hot, soft and fluffy with Tandoori Roti being the best that I have ever eaten in the Bay Area. Apart from food, service was fast and exceptionally good too. We called in advance to make sure they can accommodate a party of six on a busy weekend evening and placed our order on the phone itself to avoid any delays. The order was served in less than 5 mins of our arrival- everything (including naan breads) was hot and fresh. The server was also very attentive throughout the service. Portion size here is average and bill was close to $80 + tip for a party of six. This place is my top choice for Indian food in Tracy!

  • Jerry R.

Do they Serve WHITE people??? I stood at the counter from 2:45 to 3:00 while 4 workers/owners saw me standing there, BUT nobody helped me. Since their buffet ended at 3 (and even though they say they are open until 9:30PM, I was finally told by the chef that they were CLOSED!!!! WTF??? Is it because I am Caucasian????

  • Bethany S.

I shall yelp it from the roof tops!!! Absolutely delicious! I had the lamb masala, and I am in heaven. I've been searching for a decent Indian food restaurant since our move from Davis, and to no avail. Mediocre and overpriced everywhere I went. But today.... Today I have found it! So fresh, and the spices mingled so perfectly. I am one VERY happy girl! We also partook in some veggie pakora, as well as samosas. I've got to tell you, if you're a fan of Indian food you must stop at this hidden gem! The service was wonderful and friendly, the atmosphere nice and quaint, and the food was fantastic.

    (5)
  • Meri E.

I have tried different places for Indian cuisine and I have to say I struck gold when I found Dhaba! If you are looking for excellant Indian food at a very reasonable price, you MUST try this place. You won't be disappointed!

  • JOE M.

I finally decided to give Indian food in Tracy a try and I tried the two that seemed to have the majority of the yelp reviews so I'll be posting this review for both Sansar and Dhaba where I ordered the same dishes. I would give Dhaba 3.5 stars and Sansar 4 stars ....the difference in the .5 stars is that the service at Sansar was a bit better ...we didn't have to wait long to get our table cleared, our check and were checked up on in a timely fashion. As for the food both had their pros and cons ...Dhaba was out of the lamb samosa and so I could only compare the lamb to the potato ...the samosa goes to Dhaba although I will go there to try the lamb and perhaps update this ...the samosa was just a lot more flavorful. The fish curry I'd give to Sansar ...it was a bit more aromatic and better choice of fish. The spicy lamb my friend liked Dhaba and I preferred Sansar so that's be a split. Finally the biryani goes to Dhaba ...just the right amount of spice and flavor. Overall I'm not disappointed with the Indian food in Tracy and I'll have to go back to both to give other favorites I grew up eating as a kid a try.

Both times I've been here, I've been blown away by how good the food is. I had never tried tandoori chicken until I came here, and wow. I can't even describe how delicious it is. I ran over to the little store they had to buy some tandoori paste so I could attempt to make it at home! They have a tomato soup that's also really tasty. But it is spicy. The second time i ordered it, it had too many spices for my wussy self so i took it home to add more tomato to it. But I'd order it again in a heartbeat. I also tried the chicken pakoras and garlic naan. Like i said, everything was delicious! I absolutely recommend this place and its so nice to have a delicious option like this in Tracy. Good restaurants are rare in Tracy!

  • Hasan K.

Nice food here. Better then most indian restaurants, since they are clean and the food is good. For example other indian restaurants have a very sticky floor and even the table and chairs are sticky and dirty.

    (4)
  • Catherine H.

I crave the butter chicken and naan from here all the time. I've brought many many of my friends here and got them hooked as well! Absolutely top quality.

They are known for their butter chicken, but the Chicken wrap was amazing. You have great tasting chicken chunks seasoned just right glazed in a sweet and tasty sour sauce mixed with fresh veggies.

  • Ruth B.

I live in Modesto but have no problem driving all the way to Tracy just to eat here, that's how delicious the food is. Best chana masala I've ever had. Every time I have to go to the bay, I stop here to eat too.

I am a frequent flier at Dhaba's, and it seems that the food just keeps gets better and better with each visit. In fact, we are having lunch there again TODAY!!!

  • Susan K.

I saw that this restaurant had good reviews on yelp so we decided to try it out! Came in on a Friday night and it wasn't too busy, got seated right away and water was always being refilled. The food came out really quick and was absolutely delicious! Had the tikka masala, butter chicken, and chicken curry, all of which were great! The naan was absolutely devine too! It was so fluffy! Would definitely come back here again!

It's simply good people and good food. It can be hit or miss with the quality but I notice they are best at dinner Personally I believe the chicken karia is one of their best dishes.

The only thing I actually love here is the keema naan with the traditional sauces. I like Indian food but am not impressed with the food here. My husband and I had gone here for dinner when they first opened and sat waiting for someone to take our beverage order for over 30 minutes. Their excuse was that they (the wait staff) were all new. We waited even longer for our food order. We ended up walking out, hungry. Since then, I have only ordered the naan--to go. I had read that they had a nice buffet so I walked in and ordered a few items from the buffet, again to go, and still wasn't impressed. The food definitely tasted like buffet food--like it had been sitting too long, not fresh... I may try this place one more time and if I have a better experience, I will update my review.

The food is cheap for the amount you get (especially during lunch buffet!). We've been here several times already for both dine-in and take-out and it's been pretty consistent except for the last time I ordered butter chicken to go. When I got home the chicken was all dark meat and didn't taste fresh, that's why I changed the 4 stars to 2.

Was craving Lamb Vindaloo, decided to try out Dhaba for the first time. Overall the Lamb Vindaloo was made very well. Not too spicy (as requested)...portions were slightly smaller than expected for the price you pay. Regardless I would still come back to try other entrées on the menu.

Came here twice. Both times their food was awesome. I recommend the place for anyone who wants Indian food.

Great Indian food and the people are super nice. I've never had anything here that was bad and the lunch combos are a deal. You can get a 3 side combo for $7.99 and share it between two people. Don't bother giving a tip to the servers because they told me that the tip goes to the owners!

When I first moved to Tracy, I though my days of eating good Indian food was over..this place consistently satisfies my chicken tikka masala cravings and gives me very decent garlic naan to top it off.

Well worth the visit. Trust me a 4 star review coming from me is like a 9 out of 10. I judge Indian restaurants hard! Its because I am Punjabi Indian and I expect quality food like my mom used to cook when I was little when I come to spend my money at any Indian restaurant. This place reminds me of mkms cooking just not 100%. Again don't get me wrong this place is awesome and I will eat here again, its just I rate hard because my expectations are set so high. Portions were tremendous, butter chicken was good, mango lassi is awesome. For someone who doesnt eat Indian food everyday, this place would probably rock their world! Prices are very affordable especially for the amount of food they give you. Service is good.

Used to come here all the time with my family. Food is delicious and they deliver. HOWEVER, they have an ongoing insect problem. We found a big dead bug inside of our butter chicken. The health department is aware of the issue and confirmed that there is a serious bug problem. Hopefully it is resolved quickly because that was a very disturbing experience.

I had the chicken Tikka and garlic Naan the Naan was ok one piece wasn't full baked the Tikka sauce was very good but the chicken wasn't seasoned well and tasted very chicken like bland. I will give them another shot and try something else next time service was ok very welcoming but never asked my if I needed a refill etc.

Dhaba has literally started my absolute obsession with Indian food. I've never considered Indian whenever I go out, but wow! I tried Dhaba on a whim because I was feeling "adventurous" and it was one of the greatest choices I've ever made. Hands down the best Indian food... I go at LEAST once a month! The only reason why I give it a four star is because the second time I came (I was with a friend to prove to him that Dhaba was the best) and they almost refused us because it was nearly closing time for lunch. Then, another family came in and they agreed to let us eat there instead of ordering takeout. I thought it was a little insulting. I highly suggest the butter chicken and the special lamb curry. My favorite is the special dhaba naan and the tamarind sauce with it. So good.

Best Indian food I've tried in the Bay Area. In addition to all the recommendations that other reviews state (Butter Chicken; Tandoori; Naan, lassi) the fish masala and okra dishes are delicious. Normally I don't like okra because it's kind of slimy, but they prepared it in a way that made it delicious and somehow improved the consistency.

Went to this place for the first time a little over a week ago. The lady that helped us, this little older Punjabi woman, was just adorable. It reminded me of how my grandma would be if she was a server - constantly checking to make sure we liked everything because she had a personal investment in both the food and our enjoyment of it. Just adorable. But the food - OMG can we talk about the food? I ordered my old standby, which is Chicken Tikki Masala and garlic naan. It was AMAZING! I can't wait to go back and eat my way through the rest of the menu.

We needed a lunch stop on the way to the Sierra foothills, and found ourselves in Tracy around 1 PM. We pulled off 205 at Grant Line and saw a Mountain Mike's Pizza. I pulled into the parking lot and noticed there was an Indian place and a taqueria in the same shopping complex. I mentioned to my friends that both sounded more interesting to me than a pizza chain. They agreed, and in half a minute, we were inside Dhaba. We all got service from the steam table, which is like a buffet, except they serve you. I normally do not care for buffets, because the food is not fresh, but we were in a hurry and didn't feel like taking the time to order off the menu. The three of us got five dishes total (butter chicken, chilli chicken, 2 saag paneers, and navratan korma). The steam table mini-thali also included salad, raita, chutney, and a rice-based dessert. Everything was tasty. The chilli chicken had surprisingly complex flavors, as did the saag paneer. I really enjoyed both of those dishes. The other two dishes were more standard fare but nevertheless tasty. Portions were generous. The naan they brought to the table shortly after we sat down was just out of the oven. Prices are extremely reasonable, in the $6-8 range for the lunches we had. We had not consulted Yelp at all before walking into Dhaba, so it was a very pleasant surprise. I am not surprised to see the good ratings here. I suspect that fresh orders would be even better than what we got, and I'd like to come back sometime to see if fresh food from the kitchen would earn that fifth star. My suspicion is that it would.

The guy serving was rude. These guys don't give a sh1t about regular customers. All they need is their yelp reviews which comes from new customers mostly. I would never go here again.

Love it! This place has great food. I've only experimented with a few things. But only because I'm a creature of habit, I find what i really like and stick with it. My family loves this place. We always get some garlic naan for the table. Great for dipping. We've gotten the butter chicken which is good. But my favorite and every time go to is ... I believe its called tikki masala? Anyways its right above the butter chicken on the menu. And its amazing! Service is always good in the sense they are trying to please. Sometimes I see just one man serving the whole dinning room when its busy and I feel bad for him. But even having his hands full he was constantly moving and eager to please. IF all tables are full then it can be loud. Its a small dine in area so you're talking over others sometimes. Again thats only if its a busy night. The only thing I WISH is they had one or two more typical beers. I completely understand its Indian cuisine and they want to serve Indian beverage. I'm just saying it would be nice to have a Hefenwisen or Corona to go with my spicy chicken tikki masala. Would recommend to people that have a taste for flavorful foods. I've been here plenty and I'll go plenty more times.

Love their food! But service isn't always the best esp. during the busy weekend hours. And if your going to order in your food it's better just to walk in and order because they can make your food mild when you want it spicy or make your food spicy when you want it mild. You must go at a time when they are slow to get better service. However fish pakoras are bomb! I love their naan, lamb korma and of course butter chicken! Yuuuum!

Delish! In the day and age of processed food and chain restaurants this place sets itself apart. The food tastes like real food! Hot, fresh, spicy and healthy depending on what you order. We love this place. The tandoori chicken tikka is so yummy.

First off the restaurant is very easily accessible. It is in a strip mall on Grantline Blvd. The strip mall has a Indian Fabric store & a small Indian Market. Keeping this all in mind you would think that the food at Dhaba would be good. But, it is not. When I walked in I wasn't sure to make of it. They had a buffet, but my idea of a buffet is that you choose what you want to eat. There buffet was behind glass and you had to choose what you wanted and a guy behind the counter slopped my choices on my dish. The Chicken Tikka Masala was very good. Ugh; the Tandoor Chicken was cold and tuff; I jabbed myself with a bone splinter. I am originally from Southern California and there seems to be a vast difference in the type of food from one part of the state to the other. When I saw Papli Chat on the menu I was so excited. . Papli Chat is the Indian version of Nachos. Crunchy puffed up crisps with potatoes and chick peas. The sauce that you use is yogurt, tamarind & cilantro Chutney. Unfortunately the Pani Puri chips were tiny and couldn't support all the ingredients and it was slathered in yogurt and all of the other toppings. It definitely was not good. At least the Naan was good. At last there was a sign on the door that they were voted best of Tracy. I searched yelp and only a few Indian restaurants were listed so not a lot of data to base that on. I do not recommend this restaurant; if you want good Indian Food it certainly not at Dhaba.

Solid Indian restaurant, great taste and good portions. Friendly service. A bit spicy, but still good. We tried their wraps (loaded, excellent, and very reasonably priced), and butter chicken curry dish.

I had something recommended by the waiter who told me it was "good damn" I only imagine he meant damn good because it was. I usually get buttered chicken and wanted to live on the wild side and so happy I did. My boyfriend had the buttered chicken and he loved it. The appetizer sampler was ok but the green dipping sauce was AMAZING. The water tastes really really bad but I remember hearing that the tap water in the area was bad. Maybe they need a better filter for the drinking water but other than that I can't wait to return. Oh and got 10% off my order with yelp check in and he told me I could use it again. Great service. Great good. Bad water :)

I have been to many indian restaurants and this place is delicious. Also probably the least expensive indian restaurant I have been to for dinner that wasnt a buffet. Naan is perfect and the butter chicken delicious. Only improvement would have been the rice.

We used to live in the South Bay and didn't have high hopes for good Indian food after moving here. We were *very* surprised to find Dhaba in Tracy; their food is terrific! As good as - often better than - our old favorite places in San Jose. Good service here, you can tell it's a small family-run business. Delicious food - we always get the Shahi Paneer and the Bhatura. They have the best curries and rice! Only complaints are that it's a little small - we always get a table but sometimes they have to pack you in - and can be cold if you're near the door.

I love this place come here often. Every time I'm greeted with a smile. Everything I have had here has been very good. You can't go wrong with the lunch combo's I usually get butter chicken, and navratan korma they have awesome flavor. The bread is really good too I dip it in the rice pudding thing. The lamb wraps are super good My lamb wrap was absolutely delicious. tender meat, and the sauces were great. I've never had a bad experience. You most definitely should try this place

Friendly greeting, courteous staff and AMAZING FOOD. My wife and I split the Mushroom Chicken Korma, Ghobi vegetable, rice and naan....hot and delicious. Service is great...they don't quite run but they move pretty fast. The place was packed and the to go orders were constant, still great service. Coke refills are pronto (don't need to ask)....thank you. Great meal for a fantastic price. See you again soon!

Chicken as well as the lamb tikka masala were perfect. Fluffy naan bread and great service. I'm here our of town and typically should be trying new restaurants every night. However, I am back here for a 3rd time! They have consistently delivered exquisite food and their service is great.

Came here twice since my last review and what can I say, the best! Consistently delicious! Chicken tikka masala, Butter Chicken & fresh garlic naan are my favorites. The tamarind & cilantro chutney sauces add a bonus explosion of flavors. Service is still excellent and will visit Asap. * +3.5 stars for great food * +.5 for great service = 4 stars! Sincerly, it's Santiago, Silly.

Dhaba is a alright Indian cuisine. Like every other Indian restaurant, they offer Americanized indian food and their food is usually fresh. I was born in India and stayed there for a little bit before coming to America and I got to say, American Indian food tastes better than real indian food. I give this place three stars only for overpriced drinks and their lettuce tastes like the stuff from Costco.

I found this place on yelp, and I give my thanks to fellow yelp diners who recommended dhaba. The butter chicken is amazing, so tender and creamy! The soft tomato flavor reminded me of eating spaghetti-o's as a kid. That doesn't sound like a compliment, what I mean is it brought back fond memories and it's my kinda comfort food. Dhaba doesn't have white tablecloths, but the quality is defintely high. Clean, comfortable and warm service - so nice to support a local family-owned business.

Visited Dhaba on a Wednesday night- it was pretty empty which was cool with me. We were greeted with a smile and sat wherever we wanted. Ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Aloo Ghobi. Both delicious. Like I tried to stop eating...then I looked down and there was always more on my plate. I feel like the dishes come out in small bowls but don't be tricked....the bowls hold way more than you think. Anyway, I was very satisfied with my meal. Staff/service was very good, as was the food. Looks like they also have a buffet at some point. That would be dangerous for me.

I've never been for dinner but I've been there during the afternoon buffet which is delicious. The food is always fresh, spices just right, creamy sauces and to top it all off it's just right around the corner from my house.

Our family loves Indian cuisine so much - I'm praying my daughter dates a nice Indian boy so she can bring me home goodies! But for now I can settle on restaurants. We ordered the butter chicken - spicy but it was a little too spicy and kind of tore my husbands tummy up - he survived and wants more without the spicey tho ;) We also ordered veggie samosas, garlic naan (Indian puta bread), papadam (crispy lentil wafer), chicken & mushroom (mild), peas and mushrooms (mild) and we had water to drink. Our meals came with rice. I was in love with the my chicken and mushroom dish. I loved dipping my naan in the sauce. I also love the chutney sauce for the samosas! Mmm, I'm getting hungry just reliving the memory! The prices for everything were very fair and we even had extra food to bring home. I also like how the staff offered us styrofoam cups for the kids' water because I would hate for my kids to accidentally drop the water in a glass cup.

  • Melissa B.

The inside of the restaurant was really small, so I was relieved it wasn't too busy the night I went. As I walked in, I noticed there were a couple of tables that were reserved, so I thought this place must be good. Anyway, we were seated instantly and our server politely took our order. The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered lamb samosas, garlic naan and chicken tikki masala all for under $20. The only thing that I disliked was that their water tasted like gross tap water.

I love Indian Food! I can eat at this place everyday! Best Naan- garlic, cheese and just the plain naan is tasty. There rice is yummy and sometimes they throw cumin in the rice and it just makes my experience that much better. The Chicken Tikka Masala is yum. Butter chicken is yum. Every dish here is pretty- freaking good. The prices are worth every bite.

In years past, had to make a lot of trips back and forth between the Bay and Elk Grove, which often lead me to tank up here in Tracy and stop for food if I couldn't wait an hour more. When that's the case, we used to come here. The last time was several months ago and was happy to see they had a 10% off check in offer (for both take out and dining in). If you're dining in, be forewarned that this place is really small. Still, it is not too cramped and it's typically filled with a high percentage of Indian customers, so that's always a good sign. Service is always fantastic here and the the menu is pretty large, but they don't have many options if you are a strict vegetarian. My mother on certain days only eats vegetarian, but she doesn't eat anything with onions or garlic either, so the time we've come here with her on those days, there are barely any choices on the menu. If memory serves me correctly, she can only have the mint paratha and a particular naan. Oh well, sucks to be her! The meats here are great! Always get lamb at Indian places and it's always cooked well here and delivered quickly. Portions aren't the largest, but more than reasonable enough. And, most importantly, if you ask for a particular dish to be super duper spicy, you'll be satisfied :) This will probably the only restaurant I go to in Tracy, since it's never let me down before and if it isn't broken, no need to fix it!

I give myself negative points for not giving this place a try sooner. Our party of four shared two orders of samosas (the veg ones) and they were the best ones I've had yet. They're huge, delicious mountains of potato and pea goodness. Everyone ordered a different dish, two with meat, one paneer and another non-meat. Everything was packed with flavor - but not overwhelmingly so. I asked for my dish 'medium' spice and it was just right - no Tums required. We ordered plain and garlic naan, both were very good. Service was pretty good. We didn't have one dedicated person for our table, so it got a little confusing when it came time to pay. But our rice was refilled as soon as we emptied the bowl and our water glasses never got below half full (I am a big fan of that kind of attention). Prices are very reasonable for what you get. Even after stuffing ourselves silly at the table, we all left with enough leftovers for lunch. I left my favorite Indian restaurant behind when I moved out here, so I am very excited about having a new favorite that is so close to home. We will be back - and often!

We were starving on our long way home from Yosemite and were delighted to find the highest rated Indian restaurant I'd seen on Yelp. We had never explored Tracy, so it seemed like a fabulous idea to cruise around and try out Dhaba Indian Cuisine. Food here is delicious South Indian cuisine. I much prefer Southern cuisine over that of Northern, because it seems less oily and generally healthier. (Correct me if I'm wrong!) This restaurant, at least during the lunch hours, reminds me of a food court booth where you pick 2-3 entree items for your plate. Additionally, you get a variety of side dishes, including veggies/pickles and freshly baked naans. The end result is a large plate of a dozen or so items that mix and match well. My husband and I each ordered 3 different mains. We were pleasantly surprised as to how uniquely flavorful each of them was. The chicken in the two curries (regular and butter) was tender, and so was the tandoori chicken. Basically, everything was great and tasted delicately prepared. Service alone deserves all five stars. The lady quickly realized that we were there for the first time and patiently explained what each item consisted of. She was also kind to offer some baby food (i.e., mashed carrots) for our infant. SUM: If we ever go back to Tracy, we'll definitely stop by here.

When I lived in Tracy/Mountain House, this was my only go-to restaurant in the area. I often get the chicken tikka masala or the butter chicken, but on my last 3 visits I've gotten the saag paneer. I've tried the saag paneer in medium spiciness and on spicy, and there is a tremendous difference. The spicy version was delicious, but unfortunately I find I can't eat as much of it because I get overwhelmed after a while. I like to think I have pretty good spiciness tolerance, but I suppose this is slightly beyond what I can handle. Service is good, prices are decent, but above all the food is consistently good. I've never had a bad experience in all the times I've dined there. The veggie samosas are great and I love the green sauce that comes with it. The fish pakoras were very flavorful and had great texture. If you are dining with one other person and your goal is to not have leftovers, I find that one appetizer, one entrée, and one order of naan is just the right amount. The small pots that they serve the entrees in are deceptive; they hold a lot more food than you think! I no longer live in the Tracy area, and not being able to come to Dhaba more often is the only reason I'm sad I left. I'll definitely come here if I'm ever in the area again.

I wouldn't have consider eating Indian food if it wasn't for my mom, but since it was her pick and my treat, dhaba was her choice. I'm so happy I kept an open mind and tried Indian food, actually this was my second time. I don't know much about Indian food, but know that I often find myself craving for dhaba! The garlic naan is to die for and love the fact that when they ask "do you want it spicy" they make it SPICY! This is the only place I'll eat Indian food at!

Butter chicken is Dynamite Went there on a Sunday and they were not busy, but the food was still awesome. I will always get the butter chicken, it is just amazing with the rice that comes with it. Fresh Naan bread, can't get any better than that!

Best Indian food in town!! Been coming ever since they opened - even my picky 16 year old son loved the food when he finally agreed to come last week. Can't get enough of their naan, butter chicken...ALL of their food is great! The lamb dishes are really good as well - very tender. Come here often because it's pretty clean, friendly, and DElicious!

YOU GOT TO TRY THIS PLACE, IT HAS THE BEST INDIAN FOOD! My friend gave me a Restaurants.com gift card and I stumbled across Dhaba Indian Cuisine like 7 months ago and I'm so glad I did.... I really enjoy all the food here and the customer service is great! The prices are good for how much food you get, which is a lot, and also they DELIVER!! My favorite dishes has to be the Paneer Matar, Veggie Wrap, Aloo Tikki, Veggie Samosa, and of course the Mango Lassi drink. THE ENVIRONMENT IS CLEAN, FOOD IS PERFECT EVERY TIME, AND ALWAYS FRESH!

THE BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT you will ever come across. I have been to many in San Francisco, Berkeley, all over! And not one tops this place. I love the butter chicken and everything else. The employees are extremely sweet and the place is clean.

Their butter chicken, tandoori chicken, and chana masala with freshly baked naan are amazing. Potato samosa as appetizer is great. Their mango lassi is good as well. Carrot halwa is amazingly delicious. Sitting arrangement is very nice and clean - warm colors. Bathroom is clean as well (not smelly at all). Their waiter service is quite courteous. Food is delivered quite fast. They offer halal chicken option for Muslims.

Tried Indian food for my first time here and my husband and I are addicted. I could eat their butter chicken and fresh naan every day! Veggie samosas and tandoori chicken are delicious as well, but I think I may need some sort of 12 step program for the butter chicken...

  • Mitch K.

A bit disappointed on a follow-up visit. It was lunch and all they had was an anemic buffet. Yes, one could order menu items, but paying $10 - 12 for an entree v. the $6.99 buffet was not brainer, at the time. Lunch ain't dinner here. Saying that, it would have been more satisfying to me than the mostly veggie offerings, even naan was included. The naan was the best, followed by the butter chicken. Not much meat, just a few pieces and lots of sauce. I guess that is why the free naan, to fill you up. Considering that my first visit was a 5-star experience, this lunch was VERY disappointing. Will most likely give in another go, but with hesitation. Stick to the menu for good entrees.

Yummy in the tummy! Their saag paneer is the best I've had. The lunch buffet combos are really good and for a good price. The food can be spicy so I recommend asking for mild.

The last time I ate inside the restaurant, I had some left overs that I didn't wan to bring home. The lady thought something was wrong with the food and started apologizing! I had to explain that I was on my way to Tahoe and that my car was packed. She calmed down a bit but I really saw the hurt in her eyes because I didn't want to take the food home! :) This really shows that this place is run by people who really cares about the food they're pushing out to customer. The garlic naan is a must, the butter chicken is out of this world and the saag is the perfect consistency.

This was the best Indian restaurant that I have ate at so far. The food was delicious, the service was attentive and I left there thinking that I would definitely go back next time I am in town. The food was priced fairly but just know that it is a very small eatery and has limited seating.

I've been promising my son David forever we would try this place out. On January 5, 2010 I made good on my word and took Dave here to give the place try. When we arrived, I grabbed a menu and explained to our server me and the kid were kind of new to Indian Cuisine. I had eaten Indian food once before, but it was many moons ago and I couldn't tell you what I had, nor if I liked it. I gave the server a synopsis of our taste for food and based on that, we were given some recommendations to try. I was dead set on getting Lamb since It had been a few years since I had it. It was recommended that I get the Rogan Josh (Lamb in Punjabi curry). It was recommended David get the Butter Chicken. The server told him since he had never tried Indian food before, this dish was a good start. We also decided to try the Lamb Samosas and the Garlic Naan. Since David had never tried this type of food before and since I had no clue what his action or reaction to the food would be, I thought it best to order our food as take out. Our food was up with fifteen minutes and off to the house we go. Once inside, David wasted no time tearing into his dish and the bread. Me, I wanted to try Samosas, so I started with that. When I bit in, I had to stop David from eating to tell him that he really needed these things. His thoughts echoed mine and so did his grunts. These were absolutely DELICIOUS! We also thought the Naan was some of the best tasting bread to ever grace our pallets. David said his meal was really good. In fact, he told me he couldn't wait to tell some of his friends at school that he eaten something new from a different culture. As for me, I really liked my meal but I can't claim to a Indian food connoisseur, because I'm not. Like mentioned, this was only my second time having Indian, therefore I don't have anything to compare Dhaba with. Hence my reason for giving Dhaba four stars instead of five. Sometime in the near future, I'll eat at one or two other Indian restaurants and come back to Dhaba for a comparison review.

Great Indian Food and very nice owners. All of their food is really VERY good. If you are new to Indian food, try their Chicken Wrap, the Chicken Tika, or the Butter Chicken, they are all awesome. Ask for them mild if you don't like spicy foods. My wife and I go here at least once a month and will definitely keep going back.

Great Indian food in Tracy!? Pros: Excellent quality and flavor. Cons: The service can be a bit odd. You can't tell if they love you or hate you. If that bothers you, get take out. Note: The food is so good that I would be willing to overlook a slap to the face if they brought me more biriyani. (No, they have never slapped me, it is just to illustrate how much I like the food).

Customer service lacks! They first give me wrong order..( order was repeated to them 3 times and repeated back to us once so we know we are not crazy) ... And then when I call because order was wrong when I got home they argued that I ordered what I got! That was today but when I went last month and sat down n first just ordered papdi chaat before ordering actual food.. Lady literally yelled "that's all u want?" Yeah we'll it's a crime to just order one thing huh? Customer service sucks! U lost yet another customer! So instead of fixing me order or apologizing.. He was pushing the fact that I ordered the wrong food! Just great job there sir!

I just moved to Cali a few months ago and have never tried Indian food before. I was looking for something different and from Yelp reviews decided to try Dhaba's. When i visited my first time i wasn't sure what to order and just picked some things that sounded good. My guest and I split the Dhaba Assorted Basket of naan, Tandoori Chicken & Chicken Tikka. All of it was very good especially the naan. When The owner came by to check on us, I told her it was our first time trying Indian food. She then suggested some of their most popular dishes and explain more about the food for next time we visited. I had to come back and try her suggestions and the suggestions of other Yelp reviewer. So i came back about a week later with a friend. We shared the Dhaba Special Chaat (which looked odd to me since i'm not used to Indian food but was very tasty), both the cheese and garlic naan (which is to die for!) the Butter Chicken (My new favorite) and the Kadai Chicken. Everything was EXCELLENT!!! The owner is very nice and really does care about the customers experience. I was impressed how comfortable she made us feel especially since i'm so new to Indian food and it can be intimidating trying something completely different when you don't know anything about it. This is now one of my favorite restaurants and i highly recommend it! :)

I absolutely LOVE this place. I have never dined in, I always call for pickup on my way home from work. Everything I have tried i have been very pleased with! I absolutely love the garlic nan bread, Butter chicken (my family orders every visit), Rogan josh (lamb curry), saag paneer (cheese an spinach dish), aloo ghobi (potato & cauliflower) to just name a few. Every time I visit I try something new and have always been delightfully pleased.

This place was great! While traveling from California to Oregon I saw the great yelp reviews and decided to give this a try. Another great find thanks to yelp! The food is fantastic. For lunch they had a buffet behind the counter so things came out fast. I enjoyed the butter chicken and the tandoori chicken. I've had better food but with significantly higher prices. I'll be looking for an excuse to head back up this way just to come here.

Been going to Dhaba for a few years now. Great food, and decent service. One down side is they advertise delivery service hwoever whenever we call in an order they don't have a driver. Overall one of the best indian places in Tracy.

Friendly service and great food. This would be my second time eating Indian and I was not familiar with many of the dishes on the menu. The waitress was helpful and described each dish on the menu. We had the plain and garlic naan, lamb curry and butter chicken--all of which I recommend trying.

THIS PLACE DESERVES WAY MORE THAN 5 STARS! I was very hesitant in trying "indian food." From what I heard it was an acquired taste...so I tried really hard to get myself to try this place with an open mind. The actual restaurant is nestled in the inner corner of a small shopping center, parking on weekends are horrible so try and hit this place up during the week, less busy too. The menu is quite huge. So much to choose from, and whats great is that they have a great lunch selection at a reasonable price! I ordered Basmati Rice, CHICKEN VINDOLOO, ALO GOOBI, BUTTERED CHICKEN, AND another vegetable dish. I was blown away at how delish this place is! The food was not overly spiced, and the chicken is sooooo tender. my favorite dish is definitely the chicken vindoloo, is has the ulllltimate perfect taste that goes well with the basmati rice! ALso, i believe this is family ran-&they are super nice. For the most part they remember what I order every time I go in. I give them a break when they forget because I'm sure they see so many people in one day, so no biggie. If your ever in a pickle in deciding what you should have for dinner, TRY Dhaba, you won't be disappointed! Quick Tip: They Deliver if you spend over $30, which one can easily do! :)

Today was my 3rd visit to this terrific Restaurant. Service was very good and fast. We ordered double naan (plain), butter chicken, a potato dish which I do not remember the name of, and chicken tika marsala. Again the butter chicken was superb. The naan was hot and perfectly made. We have had chicken tika marsala at other restaurants but never here. Wow what a dish. And by dish I sure don't mean Brittany Spears. This was the best chicken tika marsala I have ever had. You all know the candy which you put in your mouth and it kind of explodes? Well the tika masala sauce was just that a real taste explosion. I tried a little experiment. Took a spoon of butter sauce and a spoon of marsala sauce, mixed them together and dipped my naan in it. I have found something new, a taste that was out of this world sensational. That combination of sauces would go with anything and make it great. Wow, what a great little place to eat. Superb chef and great people, very helpful and accommodating within reason. Three thumbs up

My family has dined at Dhaba twice now, and we are in love with it. Very friendly staff and the most delicious Indian food! We loved the butter chicken and the Dhaba Assorted basket of Naan bread is DELICIOUS! The veggie samosa's are Super good! My kids love the food there! We always leave with very full tummies!

Stopped here on the way back from Yosemite for dinner. Cute cafe with about 6 - 8 tables. Relaxing decor. Now on to the food and service. We ordered chole, salad, lassi, onion naan, and veggie samosas- all outstanding! Notably, the puri that came with the chole was not the usual greasy kind I encounter at most Indian places. Service was speedy:) Keep up the good work folks!

Ever since I went to England about ten years ago, I have loved Indian cuisine. There were so many wonderful Indian restaurants! Unfortunately, living in the Central Valley there are not many options when I get a craving for some good Indian cuisine. Thank goodness for Yelp! I kept reading all of these wonderful reviews for Dhaba and knew I just had to try it. The service was very efficient and friendly both times I went. The naan bread was perfectly prepared and was not burned at all (not a fan of burnt naan). My absolute favorite item was the Butter Chicken. Oh my. The sauce was perfectly seasoned and nice and creamy. Divine! Next time I would like to go during lunch so I can try the lunch special menu. Thank you Dhaba for a lovely meal X 2! ;)

  • Ki N.

Still my favorite Indian restaurant in Tracy, Dhaba is consistently delicious! I always get the lamb vindaloo, lamb samosas, garlic nan, and of course rice. For those on a budget, the lunch special is a great option if you don't mind more mainstream dishes like butter chicken and tandoori chicken. The plethora of spices always do a number on my tummy but the food is so worth it, I can't help it! I suppose if I liked to share my food this place would be great for dinner with friends/dates. Service is friendly but can get a little frenzied during the lunch rush. All in all, a meal at Dhaba is definitely worth the time and dollars!

I really enjoyed this place. As it is American I do stick with the basics, Biryani, Vindaloo, Paneer, etc. However it is nicely spiced (although 1 qualm is that chicken in the biryani can be dry but it's flavored so well I don't care enough to down rate them). The offer online ordering at mobile tummy, they are always very nice. The food is very good (a step up from Naan and Curry - but really who goes there other than after drinking) and much preferred over the other Indian resturant in this city.

As a picky eater, I don't try new foods very often. I am happy to report I have a two new food items on my list, but only from this restaurant. Chicken Tikka and Cheese Naan were so good, that I had it 3 times in one week. I can honestly say that, that is very unusual for me. The chicken was very juicy, tender, and not spicy. The best way to describe it presentation wise would be Indian fajita style chicken. For to-go orders it's best to call ahead if you're ordering off the menu, since its made fresh.

The best Indian food in Tracy! The food is great here. I loved the chicken vindaloo. It was spicy, but not too spicy. I ordered it with the garlic naan bread and it came with a nice serving of rice. I get the mixed grill too which is also good. What I love most is that I just found out they deliver! I definitely recommend dining in or delivery. Delivery was pretty fast too. I think it was about 20 minutes on a Friday night.

Yummy! Great Naan, and really wonderful Chicken Tikka Masala. They have a special naan with a cherry/nut filling that is super delicious. Very basic interior. Friendly service. Prices are very reasonable, especially when compared with other Indian restaurants.

Excellent across the board! Fresh delicious food. Great service, super clean restaurant. I had the chicken biryani, chicken tikka massala, cauliflower with potatoes, and garlic naan. All the food came super hot and delicious. Definitely will be back!

Quick Take Out Review: Lamb samosa, garlic naan, med spiced saag paneer and med spicy butter chicken....to go. $28.30 tab. Remember to do your yelp check-in before you pay so you get the 10% discount when they ring you up. Small restaurant/small tables/so we opted for the to-go option. Ready in less than 20 minutes...Large portions of each entre and a big Styrofoam container of basmati rice came with our order. Note - our 2 piece order of naan turned out being one piece that was cut in half. Medium spice on paneer was way hotter than med spice on the butter chicken. Both were great though. For the two of us, the naan was gone quick, but there was enough of everything else to have a phat spicy breakfast. There was likely enough food for 3 or four, but I would double up the naan order next time.

I should have written this review a couple of weeks ago but I've been swamped with work that I just haven't had time to Yelp! Our wonderful waiter Santa saw us pulling into the drive way - by the time we entered the restaurant our table was set, menus were out and the water glasses filled waiting for us just to be seated! -now if that isn't exceptional service what is??? We were feeling like getting some south Indian dishes, we were still contemplating what to order, when Santa appeared with our appetizers -Masala Poppadums (See picture) - man these are so yummy and quite addictive! He already knew Dave wanted a Mango Lassi (see picture) as that is his usual order and mine is usually chai but I changed it up a bit since it was a really warm day and I wanted a nice cooling and refreshing Rooh Afza (See picture). Our order was simple - Dave got the masala dosa and I got the Dahi Wada (extra spicy). They were out of my order but the chef made a fresh ones just for me with that extra spice kick I like. As always our host, the owner of the restaurant made his way over to our table to talk with us. It is wonderful to his business prospering and getting more awareness and acknowledgement. Our food came out promptly and we also got the oppotunity to meet the chef. Food was delicious and Santa kept our water glasses filled and walked over periodically to see how everything was and if we needed anything else. The owner was gracious enough to send us a complimentary dessert and it was ofcourse delish! For anyone who hasn't tried Indian Food in Tracy yet - go check out this restaurant and talk to the owner Manjeer so he can recommend dishes for first timers! Once again we can't wait to go back and try another selection of dishes from their menu!

This is one of theonly few good restaurants in Tracy, considering the fact there is nothing else to do in Tracy besides eating. I decided to roll in after my Navy Reserve drill to scope it out. The customer service is up to par as far as an Indian restaurant goes, and the food here is very delicious. I had ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Tandoori Chicken along with their naan. Hands down the best Naan ever. I would definitely come here again.

I haven't eaten here recently, but it is so good that I had to do a review anyway. Having had my first Indian experience in the city, I was expecting to be disappointed but was far from it. Its very authentic and the service is great. The chicken tikka masala is amazing and it comes with rice and fresh nan. They also have a lunch deal for like $7.99 that is a definite bargain. The lunch menu is different everyday. Definitely a gem in Tracy. I go every time I get the chance.

Yummmm... We ordered nan, roti, chicken mushroom korma, and chicken tikka. Yummy - everything seemed freshly prepared and tasted delish! I have to say this was probably the first time my hubs and I finished everything we ordered! Needless to say we were stuffed but will definitely come back. They had quite a bit of people for a Wednesday evening and a bunch more ordering to go. Very clean (I didn't visit the bathrooms this time) but all seemed nice.

this is where i go to satisfy my indian food cravings, hands down. no where in the city or bay makes better indian food, and their price is average. i always order more than I can eat but an essential is their butter chicken and naan. :) just writing this review is making me drool, their butter chicken is moist flavorful and definitely better than any other curried chicken i've ever had. their veggie samosas is also a plus! :) pretty filling for an appetizer. and naan... :) mmmmm. need i say more?

What an unexpected find in Tracy! It's a small mom and pop with pleasant service and quite clean. We had dinner there on a weeknight and there was a constant flow of takeout customers with the dining room packed by 8pm. The staff were quite friendly. For dinner, cook time was about 15-20 minutes because it was cooked to order which I prefer and don't mind waiting for. We ordered samosas, bhatura, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, mixed vegetable with cheese and cream sauce and naan. The bhatura (see pic), a deep fried bread which balloons out with a puffy crust, and the samosas are perfectly fried leaving no greasy taste nor fingers. The tandoori chicken (see pic) came out on a sizzling iron plate and gave quite a smoky entrance to the table. The tender chicken was infused with that tandoori smoky flavor which lived up to it's grand presentation. We got the mild version of the chicken tikka masala and the mixed vegetables creamy sauce dish. Both had good spice and flavor without being too spicy for my niece and nephews. Every dish was well cooked and left me wanting more. I am definitely going back to try the lunch special.

If I knew how to give 4 1/2 stars, I'd mark it! This place has REALLY hit its stride. Great Indian food--for Tracy and beyond. Popular for many streams of folks, but service was still genuinely friendly. Warm and inviting inside. Tandoor foods very fine, especially the ground lamb kebabs. Literally everything we greedy people had was very fine--don't think you can go wrong.

Our six year old daughter's favorite restaurant! The food is always delicious at Dhaba. Our staple includes tandoori chicken, butter chicken, aloo gobee, and naan. The dishes are all so flavorful. You can ask for level of heat per request, I always like a little kick. It is so good! The portions are big. We always manage to wrap up the rest and have it for dinner the next night (and the flavors just intensifies!). Recently I ordered take out for a gathering I had at home with friends. The portions seemed even bigger! Everyone raved about the food.

Dhaba is a nice little Indian restaurant tucked away in a shopping strip in Tracy. The Chicken Tikka Masala was great, I love Mild flavor since I can't handle the spice and it was delicious. The Naan wasn't out of this world but it did the job... I liked the rice better. The Chicken Tikka was absolutely yummy too. They do take-out, eat in, buffet. Oh and be sure to check in and get 10% off!

nom nom nom nom!! this was my first real experience with indian cuisine other than those flaky things with potato-y stuff inside them. I went in with a friend and she said she-would-order-for-me-because-omg-you've-never-had-indian-food??!? I took off a star because the service sucks. like seriously sucks, but it is great fricking food. we went in and sat down and the guy just stared at us. like no menus, no drink order, not even a hey! how's it going? so my friend was like can we get some water? something? lol the guy came and gave us our menus and gave us water. we got: Basmati rice: YUM Butter Chicken: YUM Naan: OMGSOFRICKINGOODYUM and some platter of grilled chicken for me and shrimp and lamb for my friend: YUM (pretty sure it was the tandoori chicken) sorry I don't remember the name of the grilled stuff but it was all soooo good! like crazy good. I love indian food now. I'm super excited to try out indian restaurants! I love the naan. it was the best. i know it's just like tortilla bread stuff or whatev, but bread is important to me. like super important. lol If you are looking for great indian food go here!

Dhaba is one of the better restaurants in Tracy. My family (including my kids) loves the food and we try to hit it for carryout frequently. The owners are nice, the food is consistently tasty, the wait times are generally about what they tell you (+/- 5 minutes) and there is a good selection of dishes. That said, please be aware that the heat (pepper) levels of the food tend to the hot side and can be somewhat inconsistent. If you have family members (say, small children) that like bland food they will probably have a hard time with anything other than the naan and rice (which makes for an unsatisfying meal) and maybe one of the chicken dishes if you minimize the sauce. Also, the food is a bit on the expensive side, given the cuisine. If you haven't been here before (or haven't tried Indian cuisine before) and want to give it a go I recommend you try the buffet at lunch to get a sense for what they offer. The selection at lunch is of course limited but you can try a few things and not spend too much. The chickens (e.g. butter, tandoori, masala) tend to appeal more to the American palate and if you haven't had a lassi before you'll want to give that a shot. My own preferences are more to the vegetarian dishes (and the biryani!), but if you go with a friend and each get a three dish lunch meal you can try most of what they have to offer. If you haven't eaten Indian cuisine before, you'll want to give the deserts a try. Carrot Halwa is pretty tasty, Keer (sweet rice pudding) is also nice. And both are good together. I'm not a big fan of golub jamun, which I think of as like a tiny fried ball soaked in syrup, but a lot of people are into it. At lunch time you'll get one of these for dessert, or you can order any of these (and others) from the menu. Kids will like. Having said all this, I have to note that while I think this is the best Punjabi restaurant you'll find in Tracy, a number of the dishes here are not quite as solid as what you'll find if you go into the Bay area. Still, if you are hungry for the cuisine, it beats an hour or two drive!

I love to come to a place that knows how to cook and is not afraid to use spices. Well, this is a place to go to if you would like a casual dining experience with staff that always trying to fulfill your dining pleasure. I wish that I can say that I've ordered one thing that I didn't like, but that still has not happened as of yet. Lunches start at $5.99 and for a couple of dollars more, you can order a larger tray and share it for about $7.99 and still not be able to finish everything. Dinner runs about $10-$15 a person without drinks, but still a bargain and we always have leftovers for the next day. You need to go if you are in the area.

When we left Oakland for Tracy, we thought we'd never eat good Indian again. Luckily, we saw Dhaba in the local "Best of..." publication. We have been coming here ever since and haven't bothered trying any other Indian restaurants. All of the food is delicious, the people are friendly and provide great service, the restaurant itself is small but cozy and not too loud (even with my 2 screaming kids.) They even take phone orders and have everything well-packaged, ready to go.

  • Robert Q.

Dhaba is a great Indian restaurant serving great tasting food. I would love to give them 5 Stars but service and food taste is not always consistent! Good but consistency is important in the restaurant business. Sometimes my meals come too spicy when I ordered mild and at other times they are mild when I ordered spicy. I always come back because even though they may be having an off day, they are still better than most. Way to go!

The staff is friendly and tries to really pay attention to the patrons. The place is clean and the decor is not cheezy, just nicely different. The menu is diverse and one's order seems to be freshly created; not a reheated, opened package. The tastes and flavors are sublime, with the dishes being succulent and spiced to one's preference. If you want super spicy they can meet your wants. We go often and will continue to do so.

This place is great in comparison to the Indian restaurants in the bay area. The restaurant was very clean in the dining area as well as the bathroom. Services wasn't the greatest for me, had to grab the waitress attention many times for refills, napkins, utensil, to-go containers and it was not that crowded at 5:00pm on Saturday evening. We order the garlic naan and plain naan with butter chicken which is absolutely the best hand down. The butter chicken sauce is fantastic on top of anything and this alone is the ONLY reason I will continue to come back despite the lousy service. We also had the Dhaba mix grill with tandoori chicken, lamb and shrimp, very good. Price point: Mix grill with tandoori chicken, lamb and shrimp $13.95 Garlic naan $3.95 Plain naan $1.50 most restaurant serve this for free to compliment the meal Butter chicken $8.95 Aloo Ghobi (potatoes and cauliflower) very good with some heat $3.95 Easy on the pockets as far as price and great food for your palate if you desire Indian cuisine. Enjoy!!

Rating and review is on our meal to go. We are a pretty big family(6) and still had left overs. Ordered chicken tikki masala, lamb curry, 2 orders of naan; 1 garlic, the other plain., chicken biriyani, and saag paneer. All of which tasted delicious. This was our first time really eating Indian food and I have to say that we will be returning again soon to try more dishes. For the price and the amount of food you get, there is no losing especially since the food taste good! I also found my new favorite food crave...PANEER!! yummy! excited to try there other paneer dishes

This was a solid dining experience. Indian food is my favorite so I was excited to find a place that was very close. The dahl makni was a little too cilantro-y (man i HATE that weed). I also noticed that the lunch specials were very affordable.

Good Indian food. I feel it's a bit on the pricier side but worth it.

butter chicken and cheese naan were really good. The waiter thought we ordered too much food for two, and he was right. But it was so good there were no leftovers. We also thought we had to drive to Berkeley to get really good Indian food. Glad to have found this place. will eat here again and again.

First let me say that this is my first Indian food I've eaten, so I can not compare it to anything else. So I will simply start off by saying if you have never had Indian food and have reservations go to Dhaba. We started of with fish pekora. It is lightly fried nuggets of fish with a plum dipping sauce and or a avacado curry sauce. My wife had Mango chicken and I had the butter chicken. My wife liked the mango chicken but said she tasted to much curry. I couldn't taste what she did and I loved it. My butter chicken was excellent. It was so tasty. You get rice with your meal so when you pour the chicken over the rice it all comes together awsomely. We got both garlic and plain nan. Nan is a flat bread that you should not miss out on. The service was prompt and kind. There was a family sitting next to us who were very kind. They told us they eat there all the time and gave us several dishs to try on our next visit. Shrimp, fish and chicken tandori is what they had and it smelt delicious. If you are like me and are very hesistant to try Indian food dont be. I can say with out reservation that if you order any of the dishes I listed you will not be sorry.

I'd give this place a higher rating except that the service here is poor (and service is a big part of eating out, right?). The food is very good and the portion sizes are decent. Our waiter, however, gave us only spoons (there were 8 in our party), and when we asked for forks he murmured that spoons would be adequate. Slightly annoying. Also, he overcharged us for our bottle of wine ($4) and when we pointed out his error, instead of apologizing he rolled his eyes. Really annoying. Our overall impression of the restaurant was negative despite the good food.

This is seriously good food at an exceptional value. I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about being expensive. The food is amazing and the staff is beyond courteous. They care about what people think of their quality and value. I was even asked today what I thought of the pricing after a sham review saying it was expensive. For under $10 you get tons of quality food prepared by people who care about what they are serving. Give it a try, you will quickly become a regular.

What a better way to start a delicious meal at Dhaba Indian Cuisine but with a sweet tasting Chai tea! The food served here is very flavorful, as spicy as one wants, plentiful, and inexpensive. This Indian restaurant also offers an extensive menu of food choices. My two companions and I first ordered the vegetable samosas (flaky pastry stuffed with mildly spiced potatoes and green peas) which were cooked to perfection and tasted even better with the tamarind and mint chutneys. We next ordered the tandoori chicken which was very moist and marinated in yogurt with special herbs and spices; garlic naan which was still warm and fluffy from the oven; basmati rice; a scrumptious tasting baingan bharta made of pureed eggplant and cooked with peas, tomatoes, and a blend of spices; and a prawn curry consisting of jumbo prawns prepared in a zesty sauce of ginger, garlic and fresh tomatoes. Overall, Dhaba Indian Cuisine is a great restaurant to get great tasting Indian food!

I would Love to give this restaurant a 5 star review! If only I were just reviewing the food. It is AWESOME, and the garlic naan is the best! Unfortunately the service left a lot to be desired. I couldn't tell if the waiter was trying to be sarcastically funny or was just overly rude. (The final decision of our group was he was rude.) He didn't even bring us a full set of silverware, just spoons, and kept rolling his eyes. I don't believe requesting forks is being too demanding. I am seriously thinking twice about giving it a second chance.

I used to go stockton for indian food but since I discovered this place on yelp, this is my new favorite spot!. We have indian food at least 2x a month and we now go here. Their prices are reasonable and their food is delicious!!. Their butter chicken is soooo flavorful and their pikoras are yummy!... It's prolly this place's fault that i've gained some weight but I sure enjoyed doing so.

This place is my favorite restaurant in the world right now! Lately I've been coming here once a week because I always crave their amazing butter chicken, mango lassi, veggie samosas, and naan!!! It is so cheap too! For dinner for two I never spend more than 20 bucks. And the lunch buffet is 4.99 for one entree! And it comes with salad, rice, rice pudding, and an appetizer too :D Can't beat that!

Surprisingly excellent food at a very decent price. The chicken in butter sauce was amazing and the naan was quite good. I didn't care for the sweet rice dessert.

This place is great!! Rivals Indian Oven, my favorite place in SF. We've eaten at the restaurant and it's clean, understated and has great service. Delivery is not super quick but definitely worth the wait, I would say they average between 45 mins - 1hr. We order the garlic naan and butter chicken almost every time, it's *that* good! The butter chicken sauce is fantastic on top of anything. Their aloo ghobi (potatoes and cauliflower) is a great veg. option and has a great heat to the dish. 5 stars, esp. since they deliver...it's a great option for those of us in Tracy.

I've been coming to Dhaba quite a few years now, and the quality of the food, the cleanliness of the establishment, the friendliness of the staff, the fairness of the price and the serving sizes remain of consistently good quality. the selection for the lunch buffet is great, and the if you order the 3 item one, there's always leftovers for my lunch tomorrow in the office. The only negative comment I have is the new napkins are way too thin and small and if you do have leftovers, be careful in how you transport, since the wonderful gravies drip out of the Styrofoam containers. It would be nice to have take home containers with snap on lids, but I can understand the need to cut back on little things like this in order to keep the prices reasonable at the restaurant.

Back in SAC for business. Had no time for lunch so by the time dinner rolled around, I was really hungry. I usually Yelp first, but no time. Was pleased to see a sign on the door that said "People love us on Yelp." I ordered a veggie korma dish with a cucumber salad. Came with basmati rice. DELISH! Large portions. Bill was under $15, less tip. There was one waiter, and he handled multiple tables well. Refilled my water often. Ample parking. Nice decoration. Looks like they have a lunch buffet too. Will visit again if I'm in the Tracy area!

Still a fan... but guys stop nickel and dimeing your customers - charging for an extra little bowl of rice for repeat multi-year customers is not cool and makes the place look cheap - give a little get back alot in loyalty ... This is the best Indian food around! This is an update, and the more things change the more they stay the same; great food, but the nickel and dimeing customers continues and the service is getting a little worse than the early years...still a good place

I'm Indian and my mom can make really good Indian food and I can use the tandoor at my house to make tandoori chicken, but when we don't feel like cooking we come here. The food is amazing and it's authentic. Fairly priced and everyone's very friendly. One of the best places to eat in Tracy.

I have such mixed feelings for Dhaba. I feel it's the best Indian food in Tracy - and measures up well compared to restaurants in the Bay Area. We had dinner last night (on a Sunday), and the food was fantastic. Butter Chicken Chili Chicken Mango Chicken Veggie Samosa My only negative feedback was with the service. The waiter was not the friendliest in the world - hardly said a word to us. He did not seem happy having our children dining in his restaurant. It didn't take long for our food to arrive with exception of the Chili Chicken - which took forever! This restaurant would get 4 stars if the service was improved.

Their butter chicken and naan is the best!! I would always come here just for that and I still do. The buffet is amazing and they always seem to give out the perfect portions but I have to buy more naan because it's so freaking delicious! I'll be back :D

This is a qualified five star rating. Why five stars? Because... 1) Dhabi delivers very, very good Indian food. I've been to Dhabi a number of times and can't remember having a dish that was disappointing. 2) The menu offers a terrific variety of selections. 3) The naan, when ordered fresh, is absolutely wonderful. As good as any I've had. And, for me, the quality of the naan is a key measure for an Indian restaurant. 4) The prices are very, very fair and the quantities served are generous. When I dine alone, I can only finish half of an order. "Then why, Oh wise one, is this a 'qualified' rating? This sounds like an incredible eating experience?" A five star restaurant should be pretty much an amazing dining experience. Dhabi is sometimes a good but not amazing dining experience. Here's why... 1) Dhabi is clean and functional, but it is NOT an elegant restaurant. It is small and, at dinner hour, it comes off as a cafeteria that has placed wine glasses and cloth napkins at the tables. Do not come here with the intention of impressing someone on a first date. 2) There is some range of quality to the food. But that variation isn't due to inconsistency. If you visit Dhabi for the very reasonably priced buffet lunch, the food is in trays and is not cooked fresh with every order. If you happen to order your food and it has been sitting in a steam tray for 35 minutes, it won't be as good as when the tray was first set out. And, food in the steam tray will be relatively bland, spicy-wise can't be prepared to your personal taste. If you visit Dhabi for dinner, every order IS cooked fresh and will be cheerfully modified to the customer's taste so far as spiciness. 3) I've found that friendliness and service varies as well. If its lunch time and Dhabi is busy, you'll be brusquely asked what you want, your food will be dished up, and you'll get your own napkins. If its dinner time and you're being served at a table, the wait staff explains the menu, is attentive and refills drinks, and cheerfully brings boxes so you can take unfinished food home. All that said, Dhabi has earned my personal Best In Tracy award for Indian food. THIS is the place I go when I have a yen for great Indian food. Dhabi is a major asset to the quality and variety of food available in Tracy.

Go for lunch! I went here on Thursday for lunch and had to come back in on Saturday, was that good. Can't stop thinking about it. Very filling! 5.99 for one entree item, but it's not all you get. You get rice, naan, a little dessert, salad and a sample of an appetizer all for $5.99! The service is very friendly and I felt very welcomed in there. Place is packed at lunch time. My kid ate the Samosa's and snacked on the Naan. They give you as much Naan as you need. I special ordered the Samosa's when it wasn't being served with the lunch menu the other day and they had no problem getting them cooked up for me. I am totally looking forward to going back there again. Very good!

Came here for lunch today. My step and I both had the 3 item lunch special for $7.99. We had the chickpeas, the eggplant, the spinach w/ cheese, butter chicken, chicken tikka marsala and tandoori chicken. The special also comes with a friend veggie fritter, naan, rice, raita, salad and rice pudding. All the items were good and the bread was fresh from the oven. Would definitely come back again when I visit Tracy to see my parents.

For the last few months or so, Dhaba has been my place to go for Indian food in Tracy and it has never disappointed. I usually order takeout though, and it wasn't until recently that I actually dined in. The waiter seemed a little soft-toned but he was very polite and refilled my water right when it went dry. He seemed like the only waiter, but he did a good job attending to every other table that night. And the food... just wow. I love the Butter Chicken and Tandoori Chicken. The meat is super tender. The sauces aren't too heavy. The garlic naan is AWESOME. Also, the portions are HUGE and it's not too bad on your pocket either. Great food. Great service. Huge portions. Fair prices. 5 stars.

This place was great. I love everything, except that we over ordered in a huge way and we could have used a little guidance. Its ok, we went home with a bunch and it was gone before lunch the next day. Kids are a little soft when it comes to spices, and you really have to lean on them about making the food mild if you must have it so. Otherwise ill love this place.

This place is nice. I would have appreciated being told upon arriving which rices were not available so that if we wanted them we could order them right away. They were out of one of the dishes we wanted to order and being a group of girls (read: take a long time to order because we are talking and getting distracted) we took long enough in ordering that the rice dish could have been done by the time the rest of our food was. So the dish that I really wanted to try was the Chicken rice and they were out and they said it would take 30 minutes to prepare. I was counting on the menu being on line so that I could accurately state what we ordered, but there is no site per se so I will do the best I can. Keep in mind that I do NOT like hot spice---AT ALL---since heat obliterates any flavor for me I will let you know what I can. We ordered the sample of appetizers which was ONE samosas, a bunch of fried things and some fried potato patties (?). The samosas was so hot (spicy) that my other non-spicy friend and I couldn't eat it--well, she might have not eaten it because of the strong curry flavor. The potato thing was too spicy for me too. The fried veggies (?) were not spicy. My friends enjoyed all of these so I am sure they were good. We ordered the Tandoori chicken, which were little pieces of chicken on the bone, bright red, and smoking and sizzling. It was flavorful and moist. The Lamb Tiki Marsala was was good. Again . . . . too hot for me, but to me less hot than the Chicken Mushroom dish we ordered. After having eaten a taste of all the dishes the waiter brought out the yogurt sauce which I knew would help cool the dishes down. So I tried more of the Chicken Mushroom one. It helped. The one thing that was not hot and was very good was the spinach. It appears to be creamed spinach, but the waiter said, "No cream." So I am not sure, but there were chunks of dry spongy cheese in it. I didn't care for them so I didn't eat them. The naan was good, but I could swear the menu said garlic stuffed or filled naan and there seemed to be just a little bit on the top. I actually did not taste the garlic at all, but the naan was still good. It was hot, fresh, soft and tender. Only one piece was burned. Since I am not a fan of spicy I left satiated, but two of my friends left so full that driving down the bumpy streets of Tracy caused them great pain. In other words they LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the food. So I would recommend this to people. I am just not a fan of spicy so I normally don't go to Indian Food, but I know a lot of my Yelper friends LOVE hot and spicy so I would think that they would like this place. Service was attentive. We never had an empty water glass which was great because I must have drank five glasses of water.
