Okay this place is good - the food is excellent and the staff is ALWAYS very friendly and helpful. This may sound silly but the reason I am not giving 5 stars is the music. They always have it CRANKED up to the point where you cannot talk to your table mate it's so loud. It's like a night club in there. Otherwise - a good place to eat.

By far the worst. Such a disgrace to Mediterranean food. Steak kabobs had dry, shriveled meat and veg. Wish I could leave a pic so you would understand how bad. Seasoned rice is nothing but yellow rice. I have tried describing this mess in front of me, now I'll talk about the worst part. The hummus. No way to describe what it is but they are selling it as hummus. I've taken 4 bites and the rest is going to the dogs. Spent 54$ for me n the family. FML. Update: tried posting without a star, wouldn't let me

Went here because we were familiar with the restaurant in Torrance and had always had great experiences at that one. Big mistake! No two are the same. First off, the girl that helped me couldn't tell me what items were on the menu. Her manager had to step in to help. Ok, no biggie. I told her my order was to go, paid, and sat down to wait. Thirty minutes later, still no food!!! I looked around the restaurant and there were only two tables there who already had their food. Pretty soon the same girl that took my order came carrying plates towards my table. Uhhhh...its to go!! So now they have to take the food back and box it. Sigh. I get called saying my foods ready. The manager handed me a $5.00 complimentary card and apologized for the wait. All good. I leave feeling ok. Get home, open the to go boxes to find a burnt piece of salmon less than the size of my palm. It's so dry my husband won't eat it. I open my box of food. My kabob plate is so burnt I can't cut through the beef with the utensils they provided. The veggies in the kabob are so burnt that they've shrunk. I have to peel the burnt edges off of the chicken kabob so that my son can eat it. Unreal. How can you box something up you know you yourself wouldn't want to eat. The only things that were edible were the rice, side of salad, and the three small pita slices they gave us. I basically paid $20 and waited over 30 minutes for a meal that was so unedible we had to throw it away. I think the manager genuinely felt bad about my wait time, but I don't think she saw the quality of food they were giving me. Sad to say, we won't ever be coming back to this place.

Stopped in for a healthy lunch. Ordered the chicken/ beef kabobs. Although the food was a bit pricey, it wasn't that to bad. The steak and chicken were cooked well and tender, however, the portions of meet on the kabob were a bit small for the $13 price. I guess you pay a bit more when eating something beyond fast food.

Ask for the Mediterranean Cobb Salad with Gyro instead of chicken for a perfect summer lunch. I missed having dessert.

I don't come here much because there are so many other real deal Greek/Mediterranean places around. Daphne's is like an american style Greek place with a touch of California. I don't know why I come here especially after I've been to other Greek restaurants. The food is alright it's nothing spectacular but the prices are decent and the restaurants are clean. I usually get a chicken or gyro salad and baklava if they have it. The portions are a little small so it's best to get a meal so it will fill you up. When I come to this location there's usually not too many people which is saying a lot.

Overall a really go sit down place to eat so delicious food. Mix and match plate Pros The salad was very fresh, tomatoes were good tasting(not blan) and the olive were yummy to. The pita was nice a warm and my favorite part of the dish with there white sauce. The rice tasted like a traditional Greek rice and served in good portion. The chick was very juicy and full of flavor. The steak was juicy and lean. Hot sauce they have here (red one) was very tasty and not a mouth burner Cons The salad was over powered by the dressing and pretty much killed the entire salad. The steak kabob was a lot smaller then the chicken one. Rice was just like any other rice. Final verdict 8/10 Would recommend; but more of a once a month place to go.

Good food, always horrible customer service. We've always gone back because the food was good. After tonight, we will not be returning. My husband went in and ordered food to go. When he got home, we were missing the kids milk and apple sauce and the two steak skewers we had ordered. He drove back and got a refund but their attitude was as if they didn't care at all. We don't like to dine in because we typically have to eat so fast because the restaurant is so cold we just want to leave. Very disappointing because the food was good just always grumpy workers who can't do their job.

  • Nasos P.

Average food and bad customer service!! Management did not properly handle an order for 10 people when the place was completely empty. I cannot imagine what would have happened if the place was actually busy!

  • Yadi P.

I'm giving Daphne's a low score because I'm reminiscing of the original Daphne's. They changed their menu and the ones they kept changed are the same. They skimp out on their gyro portions. When I order to go..there is something always wrong! I miss the old Daphne's.

  • Brett F.

This location is always clean inside and welcoming. Front of house is friendly and willing to customize your order. The street pita Wednesday is a good deal and they taste awesome. I would consider five star but it's a chain and a bit pricey, but the quality of food is better than other chains.

First time visiting, I had the California Salad with Salmón so refreshing and delicious, it had fresh cucumbers and avocado that made it spectacular. Also had the starter platter recommended by the young lady that works there and it was very good. Definitely will visit again.

Have only been here once and had a chicken gyro and greek side salad but it was good! I thought portions were fair and I enjoyed my quick lunch.

  • Stephanie G.

My food was slightly burnt. I got the chicken kabob with rice and greek salad and walfel balls which were weird tasting i think too much curry and spice. This place is ok and over priced I think for two people we spend 27$.

    (3)
  • Sara B.

The foods average..a step up from fast food. My problem was the time we waited for very simple meals. We always order kids meals and a salad which isn't a hard order.. But ever time we wait 25-30 min. This has been several times now this has happened.

Daphne's is a great place for Greek/Mediterranean style food at good prices. Their portions can be rather large, so opting for two side dishes to make it a meal gives enough to share. The menu has a wide variety of meat and vegetarian offerings. I like the chicken pitas that are filled with chicken and veggies, and I usually get hummus and veggies as my sides. The food is always great when I visit, and although you order at the counter, the employees bring the food to your table. Another great touch is the fact that they have exotic unsweetened brewed ice teas that are outstanding! Make sure to sign up on their website to get discounts, including a free birthday meal.

I liked this place until now. I was giving the manager, I believe, my order at the register, but he insisted on cutting me off while I was trying to tell him what I wanted. Rather than listening to what I was saying about my order preferences, he was very rude about making me tell him what protein I wanted to go with my salad. If he would have listened to my full order, I would have gotten to that part soon enough, but it seemed as though he was more distracted giving orders to his staff in the kitchen that paying attention to the customer in front of him. It was 11:20am and there was no one in the restaurant, by the way. I feel that managers who are rude and do not listen to the customers perpetuate that service to their employees by there example. Sucks because I liked this place too.

This particular location has always been sub par. Tonite the lemon soup was thick with a glob of rice and very little broth. We ordered for take out so couldn't take it back without a hassle. And once again they didn't include any dressing for the salad. Guess we need to check every item before we leave for home. Someone needs to pay attention (maybe that someone has to be me). ;(

  • Kay C.

Although I can't seem to get I past the gyro plate, everything here tastes great. I was mostly impressed with the great customer service and how fast they served me my food during busy lunch rush . It is just a little expensive but definitely worth every penny.

  • Amber P.

This is by far the worst greek food I've ever tasted! The kabobs were dry and had no favor. The service could have been better. The girl at the register, had no idea what a few items on the menu were. Yuck! Such a waste of a lunch.

Went in today and the staff was really friendly! The food was amazing and I especially loved the hummus it was so fresh! Will be coming back! Again can't say enough about their staff it's refreshing to see just happy people!

  • Yari S.

I've gone here twice and tried two diff things. I love the street pitas the most and my favorite was the lemon chicken soup they got. My kids love their flatbread pizza and they are free on Sundays! They are really nice too. I don't remember the guys name when we went but he brought our food out n was very polite.

    (4)
  • Ashley S.

The staff was sweet but not very attentive. The food is just not good. The gyro meat is salty and the falafel and tabbouleh are dry. I visited around May 2014. I wouldn't go back.

What happend to this daphne's they used to give you more meat, maybe under new management. But still love the other locations.

Love the food here. While some say it's not "authentic", I don't believe that is what they are trying to be. It's what Chipotle's is to mexican food or a Taco Shop to a Mexican Grill. It is meant to attract people who might think Mediterranean food is too strange for them (which fit me perfectly before I got into it). Americanized? Hell yes, it's supposed to be, but don't think it's NOT good, it's amazing. I often prefer eating at authentic Mediterranean restaurants, but I love returning to Daphne's to get amazing gyro meat, their fire feta (cannot find ANYTHING like this so far, been searching everywhere) and their seasoned fries. I usually have a great experience, customer service is also often friendly here. Either way, give it a try. It'll beat any small gyro shop you try.

  • Cheyenne F.

The service here is wonderful, didn't have to wait long before our order was taken. The food is quite delicious and the price really isn't that bad. Is prefer the menu to have more choices though and you can't trust the menu oh here to be accurate at all. If you were hoping for a marghareta pizza, you won't find it here anymore. Other than it's a great Greek place.

  • Kennia D.

I don't know what Greek food is suppose to taste like but I enjoyed it!! Very good food! The Greek salad is delicious!! Very clean environment and nice, the Ice tea's were good. Did not feel like I was eating fast food everything was fresh and grilled. Will definitely be back :)

  • Garrett M.

I love the meet here but really disappointed that they changed their sauce and dressing for the salads.

    (4)
  • Katie B.

Well, I used to LOVE their lemon chicken soup, but I guess they changed the recipe because my sister and I both thought it tasted different (for the worse). My family and I used to go to Daphne's quite often, but it has gone downhill. Its weird that they added flatbread pizzas to the menu, I think they should have just stayed with the Mediterranean cuisine. It's not bad, I just don't think the quality is worth the price. They did have cool pictures up on the wall though - props to the photographer!

    (3)
  • K R.

The food was average and the portions too small! The family and I spent $45 here for 2 lemon chicken soups (best thing on the menu) and 4 dishes. The rice was tasteless, the chicken kabob dry and not much flavor. The salads small but tasty. The gyro was good but again the portions are very small and we all left hungry. There use to be a burger on the menu but no longer which is too bad. Very disappointed! We won't be back.

  • Iman S.

Food is below average Food is expensive Food is americanized garbage Portions are the size of kids meals If youre looking for good mediterranean food id suggest going to my big fat greek restaurant, mr kabob or pacific pita

    (2)
  • Daniela L.

Anything and everything is great here!! I can't get over the Cali Greek bowl with your choice of meat. Add pita bread and fries as your sides and oh my it's delicious!! Deff join the pita points rewards, you get good coupons and on your birthday a free meal or something amongst those lines but either way it's great!

  • Tabatha V.

I used to like Daphne's but since I've started exploring other, more authentic Mediterranean cuisine this place is really not that great anymore. I did however like the service, the employees were definitely very kind, and quick with everything. The food was hot and good, but not great. I mean really, find some hole in the wall Mediterranean restaurant and enjoy some real hummus and tzatziki sauce.

    (4)
  • Kathy D.

The meat in the gyro tasted like it came right out of the refrigerator and not the shawarma grill. The fire roasted vegetables recommended by the employee were frozen and water logged. Cold meat and inedible vegetables made my experience unfavorable. Would never recommend their gyros.

Food: Excellent! BBQ Chicken Pizza! Portion Size of Food: Could have more food. Pizza was small. Service: Good. Price: Good. Overall a good experience, it feels clean and relaxing as you eat.

There was no wait and the food was very fresh. You might have to go up and ask for utensils because it's not a full service place. Their food was very delicious and came out fairly quickly. The facility was clean. It was a bit hard to find, but it was worth it to me.

I love Daphne's. I feel like I'm eating healthy when income here. Well, healthier than say In-N-Out. This is a great place to lunch. It's nice to sit on the back patio when there is sunshine, but the inside is so cool and colorful it's nice as well. It's a little expensive bit worth it and nice you get to know what you like and get to know the menu you can keep prices down. A large dinner would be enough for me and my husband to share if he isn't super hungry. I love their beverage selection. I usually get water and squeeze their pre-cut lemons in. But when I want to splurge, they have not one, but TWO types of brewed, real iced tea. They have a wonderful green tea that I add a squeeze or two of lemon to. And they have black. They also have the cool new soda machine that allows you to add flavoring to your soda. I don't do soda so I have yet to try that out. Doubt I ever will. My regular orders always include their side Greek salad, pesto hummus, and usually chicken. Their wraps are great too and I'm not a wrap person. Wish they gave more tsatziki sauce. I love it with my chicken!!! Mmmmmmm... Fallafel is good too but I need protein and it never comes with a meat. Is more of a vegetarian option. They should make Fallafel an available side. I'm only giving 4 stars because a lunch can come out to $9-10. Kind of pricey for me.

Perfect delicious food. Most of all the service is impeccable. They are concerned for each and every customer. I am very impressed! Thank you! Keep up the good work!

  • Lacey G.

The menu is constantly changing. They are doing a good job and keeping things up to date and clean. One star off due to their ever shrinking portion sizes. Tip: Sometimes they give a 10 dollar bonus gift card if you buy a 30 dollar card. Helps with the shrinking portions!

Second time I've had a to go order and when I get home, find there's no chicken in my salad. Fabulous.

We came here because the one in OC is good. They literally took 30 min to cook my plate, and ANOTHER 15 to bring out the other half :-( What kind of place does that? When I told the chef she just gave me attitude...

Gyro meat was hard as a rock hummus was mediocre, rice was bland. Portions are laughable. Will not be returning..

I know: does Daphne's California Greek really merit a review? They are a franchise. A casual dining one at that. I wouldn't normally review an establishment of this type unless there was truly something extraordinary occurring. And there is! As a regular at this location, my family and I get the royal treatment. My customized order is almost always remembered. I always get a check in visit at the table. Smiles and waves! I enjoy coming in. It's like being a celebrity. There are plenty of options for healthy eating. And in particular, I enjoy their grilled salmon (with two sides of Greek salad) - much more than the salmon prepared in fancier, more expensive places - and the price point for a salmon fillet is the most reasonable in town by a factor of $5-7. So for what Daphne's is (a place where you order at a counter) - it's 5 star. They serve you and bus the table. Quite pleased!

Wow! This place has a new awesome menu! Hadn't eaten here for years & glad we tried it again after seeing that Kelly Slater ad. LOVED the lemon chicken soup, chicken walnut cran apple spinach salad, pesto pizza, pesto hummus & falafel pita. Want to try the fire roasted hummus pita burger next! :)

Ate here for the first time & really enjoyed it. The restaurant was clean & staff was very friendly & helpful. I thought the food was great. My mom and I both ordered the gyro plate and were both very impressed. The meat was tender & full of flavor & the sides were excellent. We both liked the Tzatziki sauce. We really enjoyed the meal & atmosphere & will definitely be back.

  • Phillip N.

The food is quite tasty for fast food and the price is an insanely good deal with a coupon. The salad is not as good as Pat & Oscar's. There's more variety of vegetables in the P&O salad and I like their dressing more. But the meat here is yummy. A family meal really does feed a family, even my family.

  • Mike S.

Where to start, ok, here we go. This place sucked badly. I ordered four gyro sandwiches, with drinks. It cost me $28 and some change. The girl at the register did not even offer me a plate that have cost me the same if not more. I could have got a side of rice or fries with salad. But no she charged the sandwich separately and drinks separately. I know that she get paid to make money for the company but she could have taken care of me too. Second, the gyro sandwiches are so small it's couple of bites, I was so mad to but through money away. It sucked so much I hate this place now will never go and eat there again.

Daphne's. Lemon Chicken Soup. Yum. This Daphne's is really close to where I currently work, and so I've already been here several times. The most recent time was today with some coworkers. I had the steak kabob lunch.. and it only comes with ONE kabob.. just one.. so I got a lemon chicken soup to go with it.. I've had good and bad experiences with the Daphne's kabobs.. sometimes over cooked.. sometimes dry.. this time.. GOOD! And.. the soup.. LOVE!!! It reminds me of the Lemon Orzo Chicken soup from Soup Plantation.. I predict this will be a regular lunch spot for the coworkers and I..

Does anyone know if this place is stil open - I went looking for it yesterday 6/26/12 and I thought there is a Hana Sushi in the location where I thought this was. I may have remember wrong but I really thought it was in the storefront I drove up to but this mall is so big and confusing I may have been in wrong place. Thanks in advance - we loved their gyros and would hate if they are gone!

The menu is WAY better now that they made it Daphne's California Greek. Everything is better in California! Even the felafel's that look like a hockey puck. The vegetarian combo is a great option for lunch here with a little bit of everything. I avoid the extra giant scoop of rice and get double salad. yum.

This place is the best! The BEST! If you've been shy to try hummus just try it because it is amazing! And the Pita! And Chicken! And Salad! And Pecan desserts! OMG!

I was driving home on the 15 freeway and wanted some dinner. I am a huge Greek food fan so decided to give Daphne's a try. They had a lot of options on their menu and I decided to go with my favorite the chicken pita. I got hummus and tabouli as my sides. The chicken pita was so so. I had to add extra taziki to help with the flavor. I liked the hummus, however, the tabouli was very mushy. It was the worst tabouli I have ever had. Despite the poor food quality the staff was very friendly. For that I gave them 3 stars.

I went there last week with the coupon "Get a free dinner with the purchase of a dinner" and was told that even though there was no expiration date that they no longer accept that coupon. I was offered a current of 50% off the second item and ordered the Chicken Kabob plate. The Chicken was a mere sample and seemed as though it has been downsized, however there was plenty of rice. I may have had my last visit to this locale.

If you want fast food, Daphne's is a solid choice for reliably tasty, affordably priced Greek food. The Temecula location of this chain is tucked into a quiet corner of the Target shopping center (Ynez x Rancho California) behind Claim Jumper. Watch for coupons in the newspaper and home delivery mailers. Our local Daphne's donated hundreds of free kids' meals to the Temecula Public Library summer reading program. Food tastes very fresh and cooked to order. Nothing tastes like it's been sitting under heat lamps or waiting in warmers (which is very important for falafel especially, and their falafel is quite good, with a little bit of spicy kick.) Their pita bread is great. It doesn't taste like fast food. The flavors of everything are good, simple, and fresh. Their rice is somewhat bland but my kids love it. If you're not sure what to order, the vegetarian plate is a good choice to have an overview of their food. Very kid friendly. Modified table service (order at counter with food brought to tables when it's ready and tables bussed by waitstaff when you're done.) Spotty service (seems understaffed at times) but friendly, helpful, and polite.

  • Peter L.

I have only eaten at this location once, but I've been to other Daphne's several times and love the food. The theme is Greek so they have all the Greek staples like gyros, falafel, hummus, and Greek salad. They also serve a wider variety of food like burgers and salmon fillet. I usually get the garden burger or vegetarian plate. I like the sides there a lot too; hummus, french fries, baklava. Its all good. The food is a good medium between fast food and table service restaurants.

We use to come here every week, then the company changed owners and started a California menu and pizza (which you can buy anywhere) No more Greek music playing you get this terrible Lady Gaga stuff. Overall we still like most of the the food, wish they stayed a little more Greek and less California theme. Will be back anyways for now.

After arriving in Temecula, my folks and I were ravenous and looking for a tasty lunch. My trusty Yelp for Blackberry application came in handy and we decided on Daphne's. We had hoped to dine in more of a restaurant, Daphne's is more like a franchise/semi-fast food joint, but nonetheless, the food was pretty good for being as such. I had a chicken pita sandwich with fries--the guy at the counter talked me into making them "fire fries", which means they are topped with a spicy feta mixture. I'm fairly certain this mixture was buffalo sauce and feta cheese--not so novel and really a disappointment when compared to a similar dip I have had at a quality Greek restaurant. But, again, this was more of a fast food joint so I can't ask for too much. The workers were friendly, the dining room fairly clean and full of people, and our visit met our needs in a satisfactory way but I would've preferred something a bit classier.

I went to Daphne's for the first time due to a coupon I received about their new salads and thought I'd give it at try. The gal taking the order was nice, patient and answered my questions nicely. The issue I have is that it took 45 minutes for my food (2 salads and a flat bread pizza) with no intermittent apology or explanations. After 30 minutes I asked about my order and received an answer of "I'm sorry, but we had a big catering order to get out". The kitchen is open so I could see there were two people working and there were at least 3 other sets of customers in the restaurant in the same "boat" as me- waiting. The gal who took my order did go back in the kitchen to help, but it took another 15 minutes before I got my food. I did get one more apology from another gal, who bagged my order, and I did express this was not a good way to make a first impression. There was no offer of ANY type of "let's make this better". I would have at the very least expected free dessert for my patience/understanding. Or a coupon for a free meal to encourage me to return. I know that this may have been a 1 time occurrence, but the stage was set in the handling of this by no extra effort to make it right. By the way , the ladies who came after me still were waiting for thier food. Thumbs up on the salads and pizza, they were really good and nicely prepared, but thumbs down on the service and effort to make me want to come back.

Very good food. Have not been disappointed yet. Although it falls short of your Mom and Pop Greek Restaurants in Los Angeles, it is worth the meal.

Have been here three times, never wrote a review, and like some of the other reviewers, had not been in quite a while but thought I'd give it one more try. Coupon not honored, definitely skimpy portion size, very robotic service, order was kinda tired and sad. no "Opa" to be found here. sorry Daphne's if I'm on the run for some kinda Mediterranean it's to be found elsewhere....

Taste: 2 Value: 3 Service: 3 More of a fast-food joint than an actual dine-in restaurant. The food was just mediocre, and I've definitely had much better Greek food, even though I'm not a huge fan of Greek.

While searching for a place to eat after my workout, I decided to hit up Daphnes hopefully for a better lunch than just picking up a sandwich. I walked in and everything looked good enough. I ordered the Gyro sandwich with dble salad. Price was a bit expensive, but I figured with the Gyro and salad the price is applicable. First thing I noticed was that while the seating area has quite a bit of room, over half of the tables were full of trash and plates from previous customers. It seemed that the tables have been sitting like that for a good 10-15 min. At lunch time when it's the busiest, this should not happen. Second, the service was slow. I waited about 15 min. for my food. I didn't order anything out of the ordinary, so what was the hold up? Third, my Gyro was not very good. Dry and flavorless is what comes to my mind when I think about this sorry Gyro. The salad, if you want to call it that, was nothing more than a head of lettuce with Italian dressing. I have yet to find a great Gyro place here in Temecula and after visiting Daphnes, I'm still searching. Pass up this place and find someplace else that actually serves good food.

I've now been to 2 Daphne chain restaurants and they were both good. This location is clean, bright, and has a friendly staff. I am not Greek, I really don't know much about Greek food except Gyro's so please...read with that in mind. My first visit I had the - yes - Gyro (what else do I get at a Greek restaurant). It was good, not outstanding, but really good. This time I thought I would live on the wild side and I got the Chicken sandwich. It too was good, tasty and about the right amount of food for lunch. The prices are a little high for fast food, and here is the funny thing. I didn't really get excited about their other sides so I said fries would be fine...she said "it comes with 2 sides, did you want a double order of fries?" Sure, I thought a chicken sandwich is healthy...load me up on fries! Ok the double order of fries had to be 10 fries. I guess a single order comes with 5? My wife had a salad and she loved it. So, overall a nice change from burgers, tacos and pasta.

Have not been for quite a while and wow has it changed, and not for the better. Had one of their dinner 3 course meals which I've had before. This time the chicken kabob was so tiny where before it was almost a meal itself. The salad was skimpy and limp, the gyro was almost laughable as it was 1/3 the size as before and only 3 tiny pieces of meat in it and I could not tell from sight or taste what kind of meat it was. So sad to see a decent fast food place with a flair go downhill so fast. Needless to say, the place was empty at dinner time.

Props to the chicken soup, i think about it often. Everyone there is always great. The chicken soup is a weakness--coz it is just amazing. The service is always prompt and thorough.

It's really a fast food type place. No atmosphere. Food is just okay. Not inspiring.

Great fire feta pita burger. I have fallen in love with the healthy food choices here. My other half loves the street pitas and I love the pita chips and hummus as well.

I had never even heard of this place and went on the recommendation of a friend. I was very impressed with the design and decor of the restaurant..VERY well done. Vibe is good, menu is easy to understand and the food was actually really reasonably done for being so ethnically specific. We joined the free frequent diner club and will definitely be back!

Food is the basically the same as all the other Daphne's. But be ready to spend a long, long time waiting for your food. I recommend you go elsewhere...unless you are desperate!

I am never eating here again. The guys behind the counter just grabbed the gyros with their bare hands. I hope he washed his hands especially after handling money from the cashier register.

The service is great... takes a little while for the food to come out... Its probably a good place for lunch but nothing beats George's Greek Cafe!

I work in the same shopping center that Daphne's is located in. One day I wanted something other than the normal fast food stuff and I tried Daphne's. That was a big step for me, I don't vary from my normal junk food diet and try new things often. Glad I did. From the moment I walked in the manager and staff my the visit worth while. Being that I had no idea what I was about to eat they gave great recommendations. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I am now in there at least 2 times a week and the rest of my office goes weekly as well.

Daphne's Greek Cafe is a very good spot for Greek food especially at lunch time. It's located in the Target shopping center on the corner of Ynez & Rancho California. Daphne's serves up tasty Greek food for a decent price. The few times I visited I usually had lunch. I would definitely recommend going with the Ka-bob or Roasted quarter chicken lunch plate which cost about $7-8. The dining room is very clean and the staff is very friendly. BTW don't forget to try the baklava!!!

Food is pretty good, but tables are never bused. What's the aversion to having a clean restaurant? Service is also really slow...don't come when you are really hungry. Otherwise food is decent for fast food Greek.

I once hated Daphne's -- I thought it was the epitome of bad Greek food, a corruption of cuisine so easily accomplished that I believed it should never be considered for mass production and consumption. And, in all honesty, Daphne's *was* pretty bad. Back in the day at least. But recently it seems as though they've changed their menu and restructured their meal concepts. Which has turned out to be a very good idea! In some ways Daphne's have de-emphasized gyros meat, which once seemed to be the ubiquitous centerpiece of most meals. This allows them to market multiple meals (more emphasis on salads, chicken, etc.). All in all, it might be a cost-cutting maneuver to avoid the overhead of unused lamb meat, but it also cleaned up and diversified Daphne's as a whole. In other words, this is a place where you can go get half of a roasted chicken, pita/hummus, and a Greek salad for $8-9, and it's surprising how hard it can be to find a meal like that done plain and simple. In a way you could say this is a backhanded compliment. But I think of it as recognizing that Daphne's is actually mainstreaming Greek food efficiently rather than just peddling bad Greek food. I like it.
