Pete's Famous Knots are deliciously scrumptious! Dripping in garlic butter and topped with fresh parmesan cheese...a definite must have! We paired our knots with a medium thick crust pepperoni pizza (cooked to perfection!) to round out our total carb overload! Thankfully no calories are listed on the menu to dampen your enthusiasm. Great food, great service, great day!

I go to Pete's all the time on all days of the week. It is a great place to get out of the hot Sacramento sun and get a cocktail or beer and appetizers. The staff is very nice and diverse, i have not had a bad experience here yet. They just changed their menu and happy hour to even better drinks and snacks! I highly recommend their dirty martini here it really rocks! Same with the combo pizza and stinking rose bud knots. TO die for.

This place has pretty awesome pizza, amazing salads to boost, and great bread. The location is impeccable, the atmosphere is also wonderful. I recently visited Pete's for my second time to celebrate my Dad's birthday, on a Groupon my brother purchased for my family at Christmas time. For an empty-ish restaurant at the time we were seated in the center of the restaurant near the bathroom, which felt awkward... although my brother is a server and perhaps the server had just come on shift and we were assigned fairly to her section. However, it made me feel like our family was seated in the middle of the restaurant, while all other parties were seated near windows. I can not complain about the food... it's got to have some sort of drugs inside of it, especially the garlic bread and the ranch which I used very sparingly, although I was tempted to snort it because it was so good! The pizza seemed actually pretty great quality, and from dining here before I know that the other entrees are quite fantastical. Pete's has a great location, great food (although not health conscious if you order a pizza). However, the service lacked personality/attentiveness for a Monday night when there were not a lot of customers. I understand how hosts divide up the tables amongst servers and our placement in the restaurant felt extremely awkward. The servers did not awknowledge in any manner that it was my Father's birthday when mentioned (not even verbally), and the floorplan is overall cramped. I am wavering between 3 and 4 stars. There were many things I did like, and others that I did not. The deliciousness of the food is not at all in question, and I also really appreciated that when we were served our salads, that the dressing was served on the side without asking.... Isn't it great when you as a patron can decide if you want a spritz of dressing (which you may or may not water down with the aide of a straw and your water cup), or having a Ranch Dressing Soup without requesting!? Props on dressing on the side without asking, and very great food, although unoriginal. The cons are cramped seating arrangements, awkward placement of wine bar area (in my humble opinion), and "meh" level service.

I ordered via eat24 and between the online system and the employee writing it down a few details slipped through the cracks. I called and they were very professional and apologetic. Before the corrected order was delivered I recieved a phonecall from the employee who made the error and he was sincere in his apology. He also included a HUGE wedge of chocolate cake and a bowl of ice cream to say sorry. FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE! I will definitely order delivery again! Great Job!

The service could certainly be improved; the food is, eh, a-ok. Worth is for happy hour though beyond that, I couldn't tell you much,

I gave this a try a few weeks ago and was not impressed. I tried them again via food delivery because I was lazy and didn't feel like leaving the house, and once again was pretty let down. Nothing was outright terrible, but it wasn't great, especially considering the price point. There are plenty of better places nearby; I probably won't try it a third time.

I just had my last bite of my 4th slice! Damn that was good. I showed up late, around 9, kind of beat up and dusty from the golf course, so i grabbed a seat at the bar. Small bar but there were around 10 people in it watching the 49rs and The Saints, and they filled the place with a very nice vibe. Rowdy and enthusiastic. The staff were all good friendly people. I didn't have to wait, the bar was clean when i got there and as soon as I sat down the bartender drops a menu, napkin and cutlery, and asks for a drink. I had the Trout (something). Great beer, light and kind of sweet. So good I had two. Oh and here is the kicker. I think Monday nites are 2 dolla pint nights. Which was cool too. I ordered a pepperoni and a small green salad. the salad came first, natch, and was very good, fresh greens and some good beans and olives. i wanted some veggies and i got them. There are two things I love about the pizza. First, and this is not in order of preference, the sauce was great and there was enough to get a few drops on the plate. Not spicy just a good tomato flavor. Second, this pie was not laden with grease, hallelujah! Good cheese and great crust too! With a couple of beers and a good game on the wall, I was good to go...

I've lived in Sacramento for years, and Pete's has always been at the top of my list. The food is delicious (everything that I have ever ordered); the customer service is excellent; and I'm an IPA drinker, so that's my focus each time I'm there (GREAT beer!!). My wife and her daughter love that place too. Actually, my wife is more the person who will order the IPA with more unswerving loyalty than I do. At times, I do like my Hefeweizen, Pete's Red, and during the summer at times I like their "Lite Beer." Nonetheless, all the food and beer is definitely top-notch.

We are visiting Sacramento and we wanted Italian food, so we decided to give this place a try. We went on a Sunday night and it wasn't really busy. The service was pretty good, however they forgot a drink. It was my mom and I and we had plenty of food left over. We ordered a small Pete's combo pizza and spaghetti. Both were good. Place was very casual and very clean. It had a bunch of TVs and a full bar. This is a good place for anyone.

Staff is slow, food was slow, cooks were slow, everyone was slow! I really wanted to like this place, I truly did. I love pizza and could eat it every day..just not from Pete's. Had the Hawaiian, that tasted pretty bland until a chunk of cold pineapple came along. It had pepperoni and sausage on it too with the canadian bacon. Odd? Yeah, I thought so. I even dare I say, ask for a side of ranch just to get through my slice of pizza. I thought I'd hit it with apple pie to end my misery. Ran out. Chocolate cake. Ran out. THis took the waitress at least 40 minutes to comeback and tell us it wasn't available. Luckily, we got a cheesecake to-go and got outta there. Thanks Groupon that I only had to pay $5, it was worth the try!

Mmmmmm....pizza pizza. I went twice in one week! First ordered a tasty, flavorful, pepperoni pizza, and next the veghead with loads of tasty veggies. The service is great, the atmosphere is great, and the plethera of menu options will keep me coming back. Good job Pete's! P.S. The knots are amazing, especially dipped in there ridiculously good ranch...yes ranch!

Greeted promptly, but took the server forever to come to us. Granted, it was lunchtime, but the place was only half full. Once she came and took our order, everything else seemed to go smoothly. Hubby's house salad was quite large and full of 'goodies', i.e. tomatoes, egg, beans etc...and my minestrone soup was alright. The veggies were a bit undercooked, but still it was okay. I was quite surprised at the size of the pizzas. Bigger than what I expected. Thick crust was very good and not burnt like you get at some other places when they try to balance it and something gets either over or undercooked. Parking is non existent. Good luck if you can find it on the street, or the lot across the way. We had to hike in a block and a half..in the rain!!!

I love this place. I have been eating lunch here by myself since I was 19 and I love it! I always get a window seat and am treated VERY well. Today was the first day I ordered a burger instead of a pizza and it was delish! Also, my waitrees Coleen was perfect. Thank you for everything.

Another downtown spot to visit. Awesome pizza, garlic knots are stupendous. They offer plenty of other items if you aren't into pzza. Sandwiches, Calzones, steaks and salads. Bar is smaller but the staff is great

Avoid the appetizers. Thai style shrimp definitely the worst appetizer ever: they fail to mention the "rice flour lattice-style wrap" is deep-fried in week-old oil so that what grease doesn't clog your arteries the carcinogens will metastasize. There isnt enough shrimp inside to offend a vegan. The buffalo wings come with "celery bleu cheese dressing" -- no celery just celery flakes in the dressing.

  • Chris N.

These guys have got some very good beer. Pizza is good as well. And the garlic knots may be the best in town. The bar is a little small if you're looking to have a drink and watch the game, but it does have more of a family atmosphere than a sports bar, so that's probably for the best. You don't want your typical sports fan getting sloppy and cussing out a coach in front of your party of post-soccer game 5 year olds. Still, not a bad place to grab a beer, especially if you want to check up on a score during an art walk. Not to be confused with Peet's Coffee across the street. They need to get Pete's-named places on the other two corners at that intersection as well. It'd be confusing, but undeniably sweet.

Mediocre food, even the cheesy bread, which is hard to mess-up was overly greasy and lacked flavor. The service was spotty. We had five several wait staff come up to us and ask us if we needed something to drink, but after sitting at the table for 15 minutes, we still hadn't been asked for our food orders. After we ordered, we had two wait staff come by and ask if we had ordered yet. Another wait staff said she couldn't understand what the wait staff who took our order had written down as our orders. The steak salad was mediocre...steak was tough and salad as a whole was uninspired with standard out-of-the-bottle bleu cheese dressing. The pizza wasn't anything special. Thank goodness the 49ers won.

Can't go wrong with any of their pizzas..coupled with the garlic fries and blond ale its a perfect night out.

Full Disclosure: I had a Groupon to use. I was greeted with, "The first 6 beers on the menu are only $2 tonight." So, I got 3 of them, and was then charged $4.75 each. It was annoying to be blindsided that way, but I'll try to be objective. I got the lasagna, which came with salad or soup. I tried the minestrone. It was full of vegetables, and not watery...but I still had to add lots of grated cheese and pepper to give it more taste. The lasagna was interesting because it came with BOTH tomato sauce and alfredo sauce. I asked for the alfredo on the side, because I didn't want to risk it. The lasagna was better than decent, but nothing special. Actually, the alfredo sauce combo did work well, but I still stuck with the tomato after a few bites. (Trying to lose weight.) Beer-wise, I tried the Old Town Red (disappointing), the Skinner's Horse IPA (I recommend it), and the Broadway Brown (disappointing). Both of the waiters who served me were very friendly and efficient. I wouldn't go out of my way to return to Pete's, but I wouldn't mind going again if I were with people who wanted to go there. And, if there's another groupon, I'll try some other dishes (and expect to pay $4.75 per beer, regardless of what the waiter tells me).

We went here with our nieces, one wanted pizza and one wanted a burger, they had both. The customer service was outstanding! Our waitress was great and the owner came by and checked on us, he was so sweet to our nieces and paid them special attention. The whole experience made our night really nice!

Where shall I begin.. What started out as a good idea for lunch turned into a terrible experience. My family and I were seated in what felt like the coldest area of the restaurant. We ordered a ceasar salad and a house salad...mine happen to come with bugs!! Yes, the little black bugs that crawl and fly. Not wanting to make a scene, I quietly took it back to my waitress. To my amazement... I was asked five times if there was really a bug in my salad and they had the audacity to still try and charge me for it. Then the manager picked up our plates and dropped a knife on my nephew, didnt bother to see if he was ok or if he had made a mess. I really wish I could be making this up but I am not! Terrible customer service!

First off I walked on in the place to notice a small bar with limited seating. There were a decent amount of TV's but wouldn't say there was enough for a sports bar. The overall feel of the establishment was pretty comfortable. At first we had a table and from there moved to the bar when space opened up. There seemed to be plenty of seating in the place overall but I believe it can reach occupancy pretty easily! This place is located in a decent section of down town so I was pleased with that. When I first sat down I made sure to check in via "Yelp I-phone App" There was a deal for free half order of knots just for checking in. I love free stuff so that excited me of course. Their house beers are actually firestone beers with Petes name on them so the beer selection really made me happy. The happy hour prices were not so happy however it was worth it to drink a nice tasty Firestone IPA and Red. We ended up meeting some older gents who were so inclined to share their Calamari and Artichoke heart with us. The Hearts were amazing! Best bar food I have ever had. The calamari was as expected. The buffalo wings were pretty good. They were large enough to actually chew some meet off of. The sauce was also very tasty as well. The knots were pretty tasty as well with the parmesan cheese coating. Overall the eats here were great and I was pretty happy with them. The service was pretty decent as well. The tender was very attentive to our beer drinking needs and gave us great service. She was a pretty good looking girl as well so that's a plus. I had a pretty good time here overall. We met a good class of people who shared our views of good service. I will go back again when I am in the area. The only complaint I have here was the prices of beer were too high but that isn't enough to make me not go back. I would recommend this place to my fellow yelpers. Make sure you check in to claim your deal as well. "Go to Petes for some tasty eats!"

Staff is extremely slow. Had us on hold for 17 minutes tonight while they were "trying to figure out if they could deliver" to us. We are only like 5-8 minutes away. No apologies for delayed service or anything.

I've got to say, I'm not a fan. Maybe it was an off night, but it took FOREVER for out waitress to come to the table. I think she may have been the only one serving on a Friday night, which is terrible in the first place. We got out drinks quickly which was a plus (from different people), but service was super slow. I got a veggie pizza and the amount of toppings were disappointing. The pizza was ok, but nothing I'd order again. Meh, perfectly describes my experience.

I have never eaten anything better than the garlic knots from Petes! OMG they are soooooo good! I could eat a full order- no problem! They also have great pizza too! We have yet to find something on the menu we dont like! I love their location and that you can bring your dog if you eat outside! This place is a must for any downtown visit!!

"Why is this place open?" I asked my girlfriend in hushed tones mid-meal. The food was just....meh. And generally uninspiring. The soup (chicken tortilla) was bland and disappointing in general. The southwest wrap was ...sufficient, and she found her salad serviceable. But the uninspiring decor, the lackluster food, and the general 'meh' atmosphere makes me wonder WHY PEOPLE KEEP COMING HERE. That said, the service is great, and one should note that they try hard. Although, really it's sad when you try hard and are very kind, and serve food that tastes like....well, good-intentions and regret. We did go to use a Groupon, and I was glad for the discount, but I don't see myself coming back to this place, despite the amiable staff.

"Hate is a strong word, but I really really really don't like you," Pete's. Mostly, I just feel like you guys kinda half ass everything I order, be it lunch with my co-workers or catering for our Board of Directors. Strike one: terribly greasy pizza and blah minestrone soup. I remember sandwiches that were soggy, cold, falling apart and way over mayo'ed. Strike two. Strike three, your kitchen staff looking at me like a piece of meat theyd like to put on their pizza. And btw, hablo espanol... Just can't do it anymore guys, regardless of the convenience of the location. Sorry, piece out.

My groupon for Pete's was running out so two friends, a hubby of one friend and I went to lunch there today. One friend and I ordered personal pizzas with salad; the other friend ordered personal pizza and the chicken tortillia soup; the hubby got a hamburger. The food was big time 'yum'. We all had different kinds of pizza, but it was all around good stuff - the mushroom/olive/sausage (moi) - the mushroom/onion/sausage and sausage & linguisa...no complaints. The dough was the bomb and tasted super fresh. The side salads were a meal in themselves and we enjoyed every bite. Friend and hubby happily shared the soup. Hubby seemed to be loving his burger. The best part of our lunch was our server, Nicky, who was a delight. She was sweet and attentive, very outgoing and just over all fun. You don't get service like that very often, so I wanted to give her a big shout out!!! One of the best groupon purchases I have made yet for sure :)

Midtown is my home and I have driven passed Pete's Pizza and Brewhouse many times wondering what they are all about. Tonight was the night I thought I would try Pete's. Upon entering the restaurant, I saw football on all TV screens and a number of patrons content with sitting at the bar with their eyes glued to the TV screen. I noticed the restaurant was quite busy with a few random tables dining and enjoying each others company, the majority of the tables being college aged people with pizzas propped on stands and eyes glued to whatever football game was on (I'm not a sports fan, but don't fault restaurants that cater to this crowd.) Pete's menu reads like a small catalogue of enticing trraditional, pizza and Italian fare. Honestly, I had no idea what to pick and I was passed the point of being over hungry to the point of being indecisive and almost not hungry. Feeling somewhat discouraged, I eyed my server as she was buzzing from table to table delivering pizzas and replenishing soft drinks and beer. When my server, Allison, arrived, I told her it was my first time and she explained that Pete's got started with and is known for its pizza; it later expanded into Italian food and more traditional fare such as burgers, wraps, appetizers. I opted for "Pete's House Made Lasgna" with garlic bread and a salad, I was tempted to order pizza, but knew if I did I would end up eating an entire pizza all by myself. I"m also cautious about ordering Italian food because my mother was Italian and cooking pretty much everything well was her specialty. I threw caution to the wind, prefacing that I'm dining in a "pizza joint," not a five star Italian restaurant. The loud din and catatonic stares focusing on the TV screen would support this. My lasagna was good, not unlike what I would get in five star restaurants. The ambience takes away from the food and pulls my overall down to three stars. My server, Allison, was very attentive and helped me in choosing my entree. Thanks. My lasagna was delivered and I must say it was pretty good from the perspective of a spoiled Italian boy who also cooks (though I've never made lasagna; I leave that for mom to do). Pete's lasagna was made with meat sauce, a variety of cheess, and spinach with two wedges of garlic bread. I did not try dessert, because I'm still recovering from the ciruclating sweets in my home (alot of which was sent from Mom per the holiday). Pete's dessert menu is small, but covers the basics. It serves up a layered chocolate cake, which I may have gotten, if I was experiencing my fairly regular chocolate craving. Pete's does not offer espresso or cappucino drinks, though I'm not sure how popular these drinks would be with the majority of the patrons I'm observing now. Pete's tries to be many things to many people----sports bar, brewhouse (beer - house brews), family restaurant, "pizza joint," and Italian restaurant. It would be nice to see mention of Pete's history on its web site so that people know its roots and, perhaps, what it endeavors to be based on its roots. I"m relatively new to Sacramento; I didn't even know Pete's was a small chain until I went to its web site just now. I will be trying their pizza in the near future.

Quite good. I have always enjoyed Petes. They are just solid and I feel like I can go here with out having to worry about getting a bad meal. I have tried a lot of things on the menu and I can recommend with out any reservations the pizza or the salads. They are excellent. My favorite pizza is the puriest, and as the name implies it is a picture of simple wonderful flavor, as it lacks pizza sauce and topping beyond sliced tomatoes. But it does make use of garlic olive oil and two types of cheese. It is quite delicious. My favorite salad is a the buffalo chicken salad with a side of BBQ sauce. I would not have ever tried this combo had the gf not shown me it. It is wonderful. The combination of the blue cheese, buffalo, and bbq sauce is like a triple threat and the flavor combo is very unique and is extremely satisfying. The salads are also well sized with fresh veggies and shredded pepper jack. (my fav). Also they are served with some of Petes Garlic Knots, which are just wonderful, they are like little garlic breads but stronger in flavor. I also really liked the wraps and fish tacos, and a friend said the burger was good. One word of warning, I have only had one sandwich here and it wasn't great, so I would just stick with the much better pizza, salads, wraps, tacos,....ect Combine this solid food offering with a nice staff and good atmosphere, and you got a good place. Then throw in the fact they offer the best beer ever, Firestone Double Barrel Ale, and then you have one of my go to places in Sacramento. Good Place

I work right around the corner from this place still and the several times I've come back it seems to keep getting worse from my first experiece? The 2nd time I came I ordered the wrap again and it was just slightly busy....I waited a LONG time for it while the kitchen staff seemed to be busy talking shit to each other and the guy folding up napkins.....anyway, my wrap was a mess. It fell apart and all the insides were obviously just hurriedly thrown in. Not cool. Just recently I called in an order for a burger cuz it was 2nd saturday and I wanted to get something before the craziness started in the evening. Can I just say it REALLY bugs me that they let take out order just sit in the container on the counter?? Why don't you have a heating area or something to keep the food warm?? I'm not always able to get away from work within the 10-15 min that you say my food will be done. If I get there at 20 min and my food is barely luke warm, my cheese congealed and fries limp and soggy...... :| UGH! Also, thanks staff for never informing me that midtown businesses get a discount. :|

I broke my 6-month long pizza strike while on my project for you, Pete. Yes, I've had pizza in between late Saturday nights but that doesn't count because my judgment wasn't quite intact. Do I regret it? For Original Pete's Chicken Garlic Alfredo pizza, not at all. Do I regret the 4th slice? Hmm, after looking at my belly, yeah maybe a lil.

My boyfriend and I love Original Petes. We eat here quite often and we always leave stuffed and happy. Great prices, good food, very (sometimes overly?) attentive staff. The BBQ pizza is awesome and their burgers are great, their knots are a great deal but sometimes a little greasy. Krissy is our favorite server! Always welcoming, friendly, and gives just the right amount of attention without breathing down our necks.

Came here around 5:30pm on a Friday evening with the bf and were quickly seated at a window table. The restaurant is very roomy and has good decor. Their menu consists of mainly pizzas/pastas, and sandwiches/burgers/wraps. They also have a pretty big selection of beers. (It is a brewhouse afterall) We ordered the Chicken and Avocado sandwich with a side of Sweet Potato fries, and the Pete's Handcrafted Wheat Beer. The waitress asked me which Wheat Beer I wanted and I was confused because there was only one beer on the menu that said "WHEAT" in the beer name. I mean, if wanted another wheat beer, I would have called it by its beer name, no? She asked if wanted the hefeweizen, and I told her yes. Then she asked if i wanted a mug or a pint. i said Mug. She was very friendly and came back soon with my pint of beer. Wait, what? I thought I asked for a mug? Umm...okay whatever, this is fine. The sweet potato fries were great. I think this is the first place I have been to where they do their fries thicker and not stingy skinny sticks. The Chicken Sandwich was also good and had great flavor. Although, I think the bacon and the cheese overpowered the taste of the avocado and any seasoning that was in the Chicken. We get our check and lo and behold, they charge us for a mug of beer when i got a Pint. Grrrrr. However, the waitress was very apologetic and fixed our problem Mindy says: Questionable about going back. Food was good, but nothing to make me itching to go back. maybe if they had a happy hour, I would come check it out.

I've been to Pete's several times, so I figured a review was in order. I've been there when it has been extremely busy on a weekend and also while it's been a bit slower during the week. Atmosphere: there is a very small bar in the front and a few TVs throughout, but it reminds me a lot of the inside of a Denny's/IHOP minus the booths. Service: I have had excellent service and friendly, upbeat waitresses each time. Everything was quick (being seated, order taken, food being brought, drink refills, etc). Food: The food is always decent. I've had Fettucini Alfredo, Ravioli, burgers and a couple of other sandwiches. Their pizzas are okay, but the one menu item that stands out for me is The Purist Pizza. Giving a good review to any type of west coast pizza after having spent the majority of my life in New York is a big deal. I will admit that I am a fan of The Purist (made with fresh tomatoes instead of sauce). Overall, Pete's works out well for me. I can do takeout, sit down (catch the game) and have a meal or have it delivered...options are always a good thing!

I came here with my boyfriend and one of my friends on Second Saturday to grab some grub. This place is in the prime location for people watching and the free entertainment did not disappoint us. This past second saturday was the "zombie walk" and the streets were packed which super interesting and fun to watch. On to the food... the pizza we had was fabulous. The crust was perfect and the creamy garlic sauce reminded me of my irish roots, while being not overbearing. The water glasses were big and filled with plenty of ice. The only thing that was less than desirable was that it was extremely packed from wall to wall. I didn't want to bump it down on this alone, because we did go in there on a Second Saturday in the heart of all the hustle and bustle. I will definitely go back again!

I would just have to say "Meh" when it comes to Pete's. The service was fine but the food was uninspiring and we were disappointed when we called several minutes after leaving to see if our whole pizza in the box was still there as we had walked out without it. I feel like there is a unsaid 15-20 minute rule when it comes to holding on to patrons leftovers, as I believe it happens quite frequently. Because the food was just ok and we didn't even get to eat the pizza we had boxed up I am just giving this place 3 stars.

This spot is solid. Pizza is delicious (Creamy Garlic & Chicken--yes, please!) and they have their own homemade beers on tap. In addition, the waitstaff is attentive and jovial. (Also, noticed the most recent time I was here that, as soon as a kid sits down, he/she is brought a small ball of pizza dough to play with. Fun! I would've loved this as a child. Though I probably would've gotten too carried away with trying to spin it out in the air, the kids here were remarkably calm with their creations. And creative--I was witness to a pizza dough necklace!)

I've been here a few times with friends and family and have always had a good meal. The pizza is pretty good with a decent selection. The beer selection is good. I've always had good service, and the crowd has been pleasant and small. Pete's is a safe bet for a good meal out with the family after a long day.

We ordered Original Pete's the night we moved to Midtown, and I couldn't be more excited that they'll deliver their full menu. If I have a burger craving, and I'm too lazy to go get one, I can call Original Pete's! We got a medium Pete's Combo pizza, which was pretty great, with several meats (sausage, linguica, pepperoni, and ham, I think), olives, artichokes, and bell peppers. The crust is by far my favorite part of this pizza, it's so flavorful and delicious. We also ordered the seven layer chocolate cake, because, come on, how awesome is it that they deliver DESSERT?! This cake was SO GOOD. It took my fiance and I two separate sittings to finish this baby (so, four servings). My advice? Make sure you have PLENTY of milk on hand with this, but DO get it, it's worth the 230459823745032 calories that it probably has. Since this place is close and convenient, and I couldn't make up my mind on dinner last night, I ordered from here again, the same pizza, and the "famous knots". The pizza was still very good, but the knots were EXCELLENT, which I expected, since I love their crust, and the knots are just their crust with garlic and parmesan. Overall, I'm please with this place and very happy that they're so close and convenient. Eventually, we might actually GO here and eat, but it's great to know they'll deliver to us!

I actually adore this place. I always do the take out/delivery thing, though I have eaten inside and it was nice. Its usually under 45 minutes even on busy nights. The staff is very friendly and always in a good mood over the phone, and when they greet you at the door. The food prices? I can basically get two meals and maybe an app for the same price as a large pizza from roundtable these days. We love the Mushroom Jack, Chicken Philly, and "create our own pizza" - linguisa, white sauce olives and artichokes- I think its also a nice touch that after I give our number, and we say we will be ordering a pizza- they usually remember what we put on it! I also appreciate that they will cook my burger medium rare with take out...I know, Im a gross carnivore....get over it.

I've been in here many times, but now living downtown without a car I use Grubhub to order food almost twice a week from Pete's. They always read all the comments on your order and are excellent in terms of service. The order never comes messed up like it has with other places I've ordered from and the quality of the food is delicious! The delivery drivers also are very professional and friendly which is nice compared to other experiences with other places. I highly recommend this place for walk in (the beer is great) or take out! My two favorite items are the tortellini and I tried their chocolate cake the other day and it was a HUGE slice delivered and was so good!!

I ordered delivery. I was happy that the food came in only 30 minutes instead of the typical 45-60 minutes delivery time. That's a plus. The food was plentiful, and very tasty. The price is also decent. I will definitely be ordering from here on another lazy day.

We went later on a Wednesday night. We were seated very quickly. We ordered a meat pizza and then a pepperoni with white sauce. They were both very good. Our friend had a groupon and he did not read it carefully. The manager was kind enough to give us one of the pizzas for free but did not give us the deal on the groupon.

Pete's is a place my boyfriend and I can reach a compromise on. He hates pasta but I love it and Petes menu can accommodate us both. We've come several times and we'll definitely come back. We usually order the artichoke hearts with garlic butter to start bc they are amazing! We've tried a multitude of items, including Petes combo pizza which has become the bf's usual order. I've tried the pastrami sandwich with horseradish mayo (awesome! spicy & delish!) the fries are just how I like em. The California burger is also something I'd recommend. Most recently I've come to love their pasta. I've had spaghetti & meatballs and tonight I had the linguini shrimp. Omg, I was in heaven. Served with garlic bread & soup or salad. Tried the chicken enchilada soup, sooo yummy! Tonights meal was by far the best I've had here. I haven't met an entree here I didn't like! Can get a little pricey if you order an appetizer & drinks, but still not terrible. I've paid more money for less at other places. Helps if you have a coupon which I've found from multiple venues.

First off, this review would have been at least 4 stars, but the way it ended ruined my experience. I purchased a Groupon and went to use it with 3 girlfriends. Server was NICE, wine was good, dinner was tasty, paid bill. Was even considering when I would come back as a full paying customer because my experience was good. Nice atmosphere, good food and nice wait staff and the it all WENT WRONG... Sitting, chatting, (left nice tip on total bill, not the paid Groupon rate) and then we were approached by the bartender to tell us they have a long wait while she smiled at us. REALLY busy at 8pm on Friday night - who would have thought? We were being encouraged to leave after we had a nice evening and it was just ruined by being chased out of the building! Pete's you will now have one less customer, because I would hate to bother anyone and take up a chair. Thanks Original Pete's!

This is a good pizza and beer place - as long as that's all you're having. The pizza was good; the crust a little thicker and fluffier than most, and a nice variety of topping options. We also got free "Pizza Knots" for checking in on Yelp - and they were great. Also, some good draft beers. However, the other items on the menu were lacking. We ordered a salad and had to send it back it was so bad. The lettuce was wilted.

So what we have here is a pretty straight forward pizzeria and brewpub. There are a lot of books in this world that you shouldn't judge by their cover. This isn't one of them. It is what you expect. That said it's a quite goods example of a straightforward pizzeria and brewpub. The creamy garlic is really one of the better pizzas I've had. Veggie, very good as well. The more meat oriented pizzas aren't at their level but still solid. My one real critique, though, and it is a real one, is that it's not much of a breakfast pizza. For this diner, one of the best parts of having pizza for dinner is having pizza for breakfast. Their pizza reheats well, but, unfortunately, leaves much to be desired when cold ...

I walked down here from Hamburger Patties after waiting at my table with no water for 20 minutes! I was seated immediately even though it was busy. The hostess took our drink order as soon as we sat down which was nice. I got the California burger and it was excellent! The meat is cooked over charcoal and the buns are nicely toasted. Friendly and attentive staff. Will definitely repeat!

Been a regular here for the last 15+ years or so. Went last night and it seemed a bit different--perhaps new ownership? Good pizza still but my only complaint is the size of the kids meals. They seem to be shrinking in portion size. My 9 year old daughter was still hungry after she devoured her tiny bowl of pasta. She gets more at the Old Spaghetti Factory and it's cheaper!

Had a Groupon deal to check out this restaurant and it was good food. The restaurant is located in Downtown Sacramento near the K Street mall and there are not too many panhandlers around and parking was easy and free. The menu portions were large and I ended up bringing half of my Southwestern Chicken wrap home. Overall the food was good and not salty, prices were fair. Service was attentive and friendly, the restaurant was a little small but big enough for personal space. A good place for a casual lunch.

There is nothing better, IMHO, than walking into a place and being greeted by smiles ... big ones. Well, that's what we got. Jimmy, our host, along with our waitress, were nothing but upbeat, happy and ready to help in any way. We were trying to determine whether or not to sit outside (as it was unusually warm for late October) and Jimmy asked if we would like him to open an umbrella. "Why yes, yes we would!" Great service, good chicken Caesar salad (though I have had better). The Romain was crisp and fresh, big chunky Parmesan and great dressing. The chicken was the only thing a bit lacking (freezer burned a bit, I think.)

I have mixed feelings about this place. I've been here a few times and while the pizza and garlic knots are absolutely delicious, the service is very slow. While we weren't the craziest table in the world, it would be nice if the waitress would notice that we need drink refills before we have to flag her down. The most disappointing time was when my wife and kids joined me for lunch. The food took so long to come out of the kitchen that we had to ask for crackers so my children had something to eat. Looking around the restaurant I could see several other tables checking their watches and clearly worrying about making it back to the office on time. Perhaps a lunch menu that could be prepared and served in a short period of time would be in order. That way those of us who have an hour for lunch would be comfortable in coming to the restaurant.

Used to order pizza from this place a lot when I lived on the grid, but I haven't been in years. Mostly it was the same - nice staff, lackluster decor, unremarkable salad, and they have a great artichoke heart appetizer. The pizza was different, though. The sauce was bland, they totally skimped on the cheese, which was a bit rubbery, and the crust was trying to TAKE OVER THE WORLD! It failed, mostly because I dipped it in ranch from my salad and devoured it, but it detracted a lot from what was once some of the best pizza in town.

OMGosh! I had the BEST dining experience in a very long time - and it was here, at Pete's! I was in Midtown for the 2nd Sat Art Walk, was suddenly starving and happened to be standing in front of Pete's. I'm new to the area and had actually never eaten anywhere in Midtown, and b/c it was a brewhouse, it was a no-brainer for me to walk-in since (IMO) you can never go wrong with pub food & craft beers! I was greeted by 2 very friendly hostesses who promptly found me a seat outside, was immediately approached by someone I thought was my server (but wasn't) who took my drink order, including providing me with a couple of sample tastes of their beer. And that was just my first 5 minutes! The customer service during the rest of my dining experience was phenomenal - the best I've ever had at a restaurant with countless employees taking care of me - asking about my meal, picking up dishes, refilling water, etc. - not only my official server (who was also great). Then there's the food. OMGosh! Unbelievable. I had a steak sandwich which I'm now craving as I start to think about it. I got it with a side salad - which was simple and delicious - with their house-made dressing. The only negative - the bar is WAY too small & tucked into a corner. It reminds me of a front desk at a motel. IMO, a brewery should have a bigger bar in an area that's inviting. When I first walked in, I actually thought the open kitchen area was the bar. ;) I'm big on quality customer service and feel angry and frustrated when I receive bad service. My opinion is, if you don't care about your customers and serving the public, get a diff't job! This wasn't the case at Pete's. I will DEFINITELY be going back as often as I can - too bad I don't live closer! I LOVE THIS PLACE! :D

Tried this place because I had a groupon. Wouldn't come here again if I had a other groupon..etc.. We ordered... Chopped Oriental Chicken Salad- this was good but would of liked more dressing. Should of asked for more dressing on the side or something. Pete's Combo? or All Meat?- I guess it really doesn't matter which on of the pizzas we ordered because the crust was terrible. It was hard!!??!! I would rather of had pizza guy's pizza than the one I had here. Maybe it was just that night that the pizza totally sucked... but I will never know. Jalapeño Poppers- I don't really remember much about these... So, I guess you can say thumbs down in my book. Calamari- As I have said in one of my other post... Calamari (deep fried) is always a must order item when I see it listed on the menu. It was just eh ok. Nothing exciting. just plain and kinda boring. The service was just ok.

I'm not a huge fan. The garlic chicken pasta is OK, but nothing to write home about. The service is fine, but I promise I don't need or want soup or salad with my pasta. I come occasionally if friends are visiting for lunch who need a pizza fix and while I don't typically order it I haven't heard any complaints. A little expensive for a regular lunch place in midtown, but the outside seating is nice if it's sunny.

Pete's was recommended to me as a good choice for lunch in midtown and an alternative to Rubicon. Service was good, fast and efficient. They were out of the Red but the substitute offered by the waiter was pitched as a fat tire style brew and was tasty. $4.50 for a pint. The food was meh. I ordered the crap cakes over angel hair pasta and was very disappointed. Crab cakes are supposed to have a crunchy crust and these were totally limp and soggy. They also smelled very strong. The pasta was overcooked and over sauced but the flavors weren't bad, but couldn't save the dish. I can't recommend this place, there are too many better places in midtown for lunch and I won't be going back.

I haven't been to Original Pete's for a number of years. I remember the pizza being all right, nothing to write home about, but when our daughter was a toddler we went often... Why? Pizza dough! They give the kidlets (or used to back in the day-- hopefully they still do!) pizza dough to play with... My daughter loved it and would be totally entertained while we waited for our (cooked) pizza :) I think they also gave crayons and had a special menu for kids, but she LOVED playing with the pizza dough best. They would even give us some to take home in a plastic baggie. The place is also dog-friendly, which is cool... We've brought our pug with us a few times and we sat outside on the patio... So, my 4 star rating is all for the nostalgia factor... the food wasn't that great (not awful, but not amazing), however the play-dough (literally!) was a definite plus!

Today I was served the worst meal I can remember in a restaurant. We came with a small group (5 adults and 2 children) for my father's birthday. He wanted someplace the kids would like (pizza). I was surprised how empty it was on a Sunday afternoon, being that the 49ers were in the playoff game. They had our table ready and the staff was friendly. We ordered 2 children's pizzas which were fine. Onion rings were tasty. Salads were also nice. My father and I both ordered the King Salmon over pasta. My wife had the chicken Philly Cheese-steak, and we also ordered a large combo pizza. The pizza was OK (if you like thick crust pizza), but not great. Toppings were piled on (not spread out well) and I found myself picking much of them off. Pepperoni 4 deep in some places and absent in others. The chicken Philly was OK, but very greasy. The salmon dish was terrible. I have NEVER returned a meal in a restaurant. If I hadn't been with my parents for a celebration meal, I would have sent this back. Salmon was overcooked, pasta was VERY overcooked and mushy, asparagus was overcooked and droopy. The whole dish was flavorless. I added salt, but only ate one bite of pasta, less than 1/4 of the small piece of salmon, and 1 spear of asparagus. Left the plate full. My father and his wife ate their salmon, but left the rest of the other plate full. The person picking up the plates said nothing. My wife later said one of the servers asked if everything was OK, but I didn't hear it, or I would have been honest. There is no way this place serves that quality of food on a regular basis and is still in business. To let something like that out of the kitchen indicates a serious quality control issue. I have to hope the person who usually runs that kitchen was out that day and the person who filled in was just inexperienced. Wow. Truly beyond disappointing.

I'm not from Sacramento, but I was in town for a conference and trying to find a good place to have dinner. I turned my nose up at several places before wandering into Pete's, and I'm sure glad I did! The staff was friendly and efficient, the brews and food were high-quality, and the atmosphere was lively but not loud. I ordered the Southwestern Turkey Burger, which was full of flavor and fresh ingredients. (And the "side salad," which I substituted for fries, could have been a whole meal in itself!) Prices were reasonable; I got the burger, the salad, a pint of beer, tax and tip for about $20. As a big baseball fan, I also loved having the World Series on in HD. Pete's was a great place to hang out for a while before going back to my lonely hotel room, and I would definitely go back if I'm in the area again.

Hmm... was a little skeptical to try this place, because I never knew much about it. A friend organized a dinner here before an ice skating adventure. :) Was pleasantly surprised to hear that at the time we were there, they were offering $2 pints. I tried Pete's Wheat which was a Bavarian Hefeweizen- it was tasty but not what I expected. I definitely could smell (and taste) the banana in it. I tried my boyfriends IPA and that was DEEEEELISH. I'll get it right one of these days. ;) I ordered the Bistro Chicken Salad with a fat free raspberry vinaigrette. TASTY!!! It was kind of skimpy on the chicken though, and there was a lot of red onions (not a problem for me, but some may complain). It was a decent sized portion, too. I was impressed. Boyfriend got the Mediterranean Burger... he said it was DELISH and came with a heaping side of fries... but the fries SUCKED. Other members of our party were all happy with their pizza, fettuccini alfredo and knots. Server was funny and VERY PATIENT when we asked to split up the checks in a very confusing manner.. It's not #1 on my list but it sure as hell beats Spaghetti Factory (BLARF) and I would return :)

Eating at Original Pete's brings back memories when I was 17 working at United Artist listening to BSB. Don't hate :-/ It was my first time ever eating a BBQ Chicken Pizza. It was mind blowing!!! However since then theres been all sorts of crazy pizzas like peanut butter. But I digress. I can't say I'm a fan of the 'famous' knots. Pizza dough with butter and a bit of seasoning? Meh... But they were FREE! Thanks Yelp! My wife and I shared a medium pepperoni and cheese ( no BBQ chicken cause the wife is from a far away land where chicken on burgers and pizza is just unheard of... Bummer). I'd have to say, it was simple and delicious. The venue was quite claustrophobic so I wasn't digging that. Maybe because we were sat by the window with a table outside right next to ours so I felt like I was sharing elbow space with the hairy motorcycle guy and his GF. But all in all, the service was nice and the pizza, yum. So I give it a 3 star.

I wouldn't call it the best pizza in sac, but they crank out a pretty tasty pie, especially when you order it thin crust. Some good beers on tap and the worlds best garlic cheese knots are what makes my friends and I stop in most times!!

Traditional American Pizza.. if you feel like round table but with a less franchisey feel, or some basic hardy pasta dishes with an above average marina sauce. Solid, but falling behind in Sacramento's competitive pizza market.

My neighbor has always talked about how good this place is and I even had a bite of pizza that they brought home. They ordered a medium pizza with pesto sauce and tomatoes on top. Boy was that delish! Fast forward 8 months and I finally walk into Original Pete's. After months of saving up money, I decide to treat myself and my boyfriend. We order Artichoke Deep fried bites, I think and a medium pizza with garlic sauce, salami and feta cheese. I had the Midtown Ale and he had the Blonde...I guess if he can't date one, he'll drink one. Hey-oh!!! Total bill and tip came out to be $41. Our server was fantastic! I didn't catch her name, but she's tall, white, blonde, super nice, AND when I asked if I could have balls of dough to play with, she obliged! Kick ass. I should have tipped her more. Now to the food: After a few artichokes, half a slice of pizza, and half a beer, I was full. I am a "BBW" btw and I like to eat, but I just couldn't. Big ups for filling me up. I really felt like I got my money's worth. This big girl right here loves her creamy white sauces (get out of the gutter, you gutter heads, lol,) but Pete's white sauce wasn't so good. I think that's mainly because of the toppings I chose: salami and feta cheese? Confused palate much? I think so. I didn't care for the parsley on the artichoke hearts. I wonder if they'll consider using marinated artichoke hearts and please omit the bowl of butter. Thank you. Oh, but leave the ranch, because ranch is better than butter. Right? LOL Would I come here again? Hell to the yes, son, but definitely not on a Friday or Saturday night.

My family goes to Pete's every few months. Often I have a Groupon but would go regardless. We went last night and used an amazing Groupon. $10 for full meal - ex-lg pizza, 4 salads, knots, drinks. Knots were hot and delicious. Salads were big and everything was fresh. The pizza was also super hot. We got the combo which had lots of toppings. Everything came really quickly and was tasty. I recommend Pete's. Their brews are good also. We enjoy.

Ok, I know I can not cook to save my life but even I can do a much better job. Went to meet up with my husband for lunch there b/c it was recommended to us and oh boy, will not be returning. LoL Service was ok. They sat us fairly quick which was nice but just took a little long to get us water and our food out. However, the FOOD...its a NO NO! We order calamari and the sauce was a piece of *&&*%$. It tasted like some cheap tomato sauce you buy at the grocery. Yuck! I got the chicken parmesan over pasta and the sauce was so watery and just YUCK! It was a good portion of chicken and amount of pasta, its just that it tasted soooooooo bland and watery. Even adding salt, pepper, and more cheese did not help. SMH. My luckily my husband got the lunch special, personal pepperoni pizza with salad. He got blue cheese dressing and yes that was also a YUCK! Salad was a good amount (a lot actually) but the dressing killed it. It was also water down and soooo bland! I would say the ONLY good think about our meal was my husbands pizza. Thank goodness, we would had starved. LOL. Will not return.....and like I mentioned, I'm not a cook but I can do so much better in my sauces.

Journeyed in here last night with a friend to catch Monday Night Football and have a beer. I have been here before but only to the small bar area in the front as a starting point (more of a confusion, a bunch of my coworkers and I were meeting and we all said Peets meaning the coffee place but we all ended up here, but that's another story). Anyways back to the most recent venture. We strolled in and it took a minute to be seated, but it was Monday Night and football was going on, so we sat tight for the few minutes it took to clean a table and seat us (score it was right by the tv). I know this is a pizza place, but neither one of us was in the mood for pizza (I know then why the hell would you go to a pizza place then). So we ordered the jumbo onion rings and I got myself the pastrami sandwich. The food was ok, not fantastic but not bad either. The major score here was when we went to get a pitcher, the waiter informed us it was Monday night and all pints were on sale for $2.50 and it was a better deal to go that way then to get a pitcher (only thing is you had to order their house beers). We both went with the "Broadway Brown", it was very good not too heavy and a very good taste. The deal on the beer alone warrants a return trip, and have to go back to try the pizza. The staff was friendly and checked on us frequently, maybe the other reviewers went on a different night or there has been a turn over. I'll be back for another round errrrr....I mean go around :)

This used to be my favorite pizza place until i discovered the Petes in Roseville, which is why i can no longer give it a five star review. What I like about it is the location and all the same things i love about the Roseville restaurant. They have the best pizza and ranch ever, and everything that ive tried on the menu has been delicious. The down side to this location is the service. There are a few nice girls that work here, but most of them arent very friendly and have an attitude if you ask for any substitutions. Ive been coming here lately because they have been regularly doing the Groupon deal and you cant pass up that deal for this place. Even though i prefer the Roseville location this is still one of my favorite places to come.

The food here was pretty good. I had a house salad (it was HUGE) and some Pete's knots. Those were really delicious. My husband had the deluxe burger and fries and he thought it was really good. The only problem we had was the service. Usually I like it when the waiters leave us alone, but we didn't even get our waters filled up once. It was a pretty empty Monday evening when we went, but all the staff seemed really busy. Also, my salad came out way before my husband's burger, and the appetizers came out with the burger. Kind of awkward timing, but oh well it worked out. Overall, still pretty good.

Best pizza in all of Sacramento. I've been a fan of Pete's pizza since 1988 when I worked at the original Pete's. The spicy french dressing is amazing, dip some of the delicious doughy crust in ranch or blue cheese dressing....LOVE!! The ingredients are fresh and they do not skimp on the toppings! yum!

Pete; why did you stop being "Original Pete's Pizza" and start being "Original Pete's Restaurant"? I understand that change is the only constant in the universe. And far be it from me to hold you back, but I'll be honest-- I liked you better as a superior pizza joint. Why don't you bring back the "Brain Child" seafood pizza? That was my favorite pizza in all of Sacramento in its time. If memory serves, wasn't your pizza served on a warming rack? Are all those good times really over for good? Is it really all about noodle meals and sandwiches now? It's all so hard to accept... and pretend. If you get another signature seafood pizza in, call me!

My daughter and I chose to have lunch at Pete's today because we saw on DogFriendly.com that dogs are welcome in their outdoor dining area, and it was such a nice day we thought it would be fun to take our two dogs with us. As far as pet-friendly, we give Pete's 4 paws up (on a scale of 1-4 paws). The waitress even brought dishes of water for our dogs. The human service and food was great, too. I had the calamari, which wasn't the best, but it wasn't horrible either. It appeared to be a pre-battered frozen brand, and it was a bit chewy. They served it with cocktail sauce, but were happy to provide the dish of marinara I ordered for it instead. My daughter was pretty happy with her pizza, too. It had a delicious crust. She thought it had a bit too much sauce, but next time we go there we'll just tell them to go lighter on the sauce (can't let my 16-year-old hit the sauce too hard, now, can I?...). Our waitress was very attentive, but we had a late lunch (1:30), so I don't think they were that busy, either. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we'll definitely be going back. One word of warning for lunchtime sidewalk dining: The umbrellas are not positioned right to keep the sun off of the tables, so when the Sacramento heat arrives, lunchtime on the sidewalk will be pretty unbearable -- especially if you have dogs with you.

Don't know why I never reviewed this restaurant because I've been to only this location about a dozen times. Pete's is good for groups (went here as a party of 8 once) and also good for a quiet lunch. The restaurant and bathroom have always been clean and the food is consistently good. I really like the pizzas here because the original crust is great, not too chewy, never soggy, and still retains a good flavor with the toppings. I'm not much of a fan of red sauce but it's good at Pete's. So here is a list of menu items I have ordered that I recommend: -Knots (both the garlic or cinnamon are great) -$6.99 lunch special with a pizza for one (which is really for two) with a bowl of soup (I like the crab chowder) and it's everyday -Monterey turkey sandwich (ask for extra pesto aioli) -Calamari (I like it here because there are no tentacles) -Onion rings -PIZZA!!! The reason I take one star away is because the service is good or bad, nothing in between. The service you receive just depends on the server you have. Just like in every restaurant there are some servers who are attentive and professional, and then there are servers who dare the bare minimum. Pete's is no different in this situation.

Pete's pizza is great, though for some reason it reminded me of the Mama Celeste pizzas I had as a kid because I was a latch key kid and mama wasn't around to cook dinner, and I ate them like five nights a week...okay that's enough. Pizza is fine, but I have a few quibbles about the layout of the place: Way too many tables packed together. We were constantly jostled and bumped by people walking by, and I noticed the servers seemed to struggle getting around all the tables and chairs. Also, service was sloooooow. Maybe all the obstacles slowed them down. Who knows.

Wednesday, 9:00PM. I'll admit, I've become a pizza and cheese snob having been spoiled out in the Bay Area. The folks I rolled with assured me that this place was legit. From the outside, it looked like a bumping sports bar... ...but with lots of dinner tables and much more spacious. Four or five huge TVs will make any sports fan happy! On with the orders... Grub [4 stars]: *Peet's Knots (with Parmesan) comes with ranch and marinara sauce - firm on the outside, nice and mushy on the inside -Delish! Since I come here often now, I always order a full order to kick off stuffing the tummy... *Pete's All-Meat -Ham, pepperoni, sausage, and salami = holy crap that's a lotttta meat but the same dough the use for the knots they use for the pizza and it was good! *Pete's Vege-Head -C'mon, eating so unhealthy can be alleviated by eating hella veggies, right? Not really, but this pizza was good =) *Apple Dumpling -Interesting dessert concept - baked apple in delicious crust and cinnamon glaze accompanied by two scoops of vanilla ice cream -Yes, it's as good as it sounds! Service [4.5 stars]: *Especially friendly service though we've experienced some delays when requesting items (ie. water) *Every staff member we bumped into was professional and really nice Final Call: *With "two dolla' signs" and good quality food, it's difficult for me not to get PHAT-tened here.

Our waitress was so great. I wish I could remember her name to give her kuddos. My sis and I came here for lunch with her two little kiddos. They're pretty cute but not so patient. The crayons did the trick for a while. the four big screens were a good diversion. Then the waitress brought over pizza dough for them to play with. Brilliant! Entertaining aside, the food was good. Nice selection of pizza, sandwiches, salads and pasta. The kid menu is also pretty friendly. Definitely will be back again.

So i've only used Pete's for their super quick delivery service, and they have been rad. I like the pizza crust as an alternative to Zeldas and lets face it if I have to choose between putting on my shoes, walking to, and then standing in Zeldas for 20 minutes waiting for my take out pizza or waiting 30 minutes for the delivery lady to bring it to me on a rainy Friday night I will choose Pete's every time. I have also really enjoyed their meatball sandwich. Ive been told by friends that the experience leaves a bit to be desired when you eat at Pete's but so long as they keep bringing the food to me and I can eat Pizza sitting on the couch while watching whatever Bravo show the GF has turned on I will call them a four star joint.

My brother & sister-in-law were in town and were in the mood for pizza. I had wanted to take them to Paesano's or even Chicago Fire but couldn't find parking after circling many times, so we ended up at Pete's. We ordered side salads (minus garbanzo/kidney beans for me) and Pete's Meat pizza. Very good. I'm a big crust girl and really enjoyed theirs. Made for good leftovers the next day...

Oh Pete's. Maybe my favorite place to eat. I come here embarrassingly often lol. Food-wise they deserve, like, 10 stars; and while the service my guy and I always receive is outstanding I do have to agree with some other reviewers that the service can be inconsistent. When I'm here with the bf the service is awesome, like I said. But I took my best here one time and I laugh cause I swear she's bad luck at restaurants. We waited 20 minutes for soda, then ordered pizza and waited, no joke, 1:20, then about 30 more minutes for the bill. It was awful! But that's the one and only time. Usually if you get Joel or Rebecca you will have a fantastic evening complete with polite, witty banter and great beer knowledge. They make everything to order so if you order pizza you're gonna wait for about half an hour but I think that's completely understandable! Even my one bad experience was solely just the shitty little waitress who was not concerned about doing her job whatsoever (we were literally the only two customers in the place). The food was fantastic. So, if you see a happy little blonde girl or a young tall kid and you have the time for fresh food come in and enjoy!! If its empty and the waitress looks like she's not enthused, just politely leave and try some other time lol. Its worth it, I promise!

I was looking for a good Italian restaurant to go to for a date that wouldn't break the bank! It was easy to find right on the corner, environment was laid back and casual. The soups were okay, sweet potatoes fries were amazing! I don't even like sweet potatoes fries. We ordered the chicken parmesan and the chicken stuffed ravioli. It was amazing! Both were served with red and white sauce and were delicious! Hugh servings too!

I went there recently with my family. Everyone was happy with their meals, but nothing was outstanding. The service was slow, but our waiter was nice and got all the orders right. I got the spaghetti which was good and I really like the cheese bread it came with, but I wished the pasta was a little more al dente. But some things really bugged me about it. #1 the decor. Would it kill them to update a little? It reminds me of 1988. Just changing the tables and chairs would make the place more youthful. #2 the large menu. Places that offer 50 entrees scare me. Yes variety is good, but 50 items show that they don't really put much care into any one thing. Work on making 20 items the best they can be. I'll give it another try and maybe the pizza will change my negative view of them.

I have been going to Original Pete's for years, I live and work a block away so it is close and convenient . I love the food and that they deliver. BUT last night I ordered a Steakhouse salad which was so good! Half way through I found a small knot of hairs in my salad, I was really grossed out. So I called the restaurant to inform them...the woman who answered the phone was apologetic, but the manager treated me like I was a total liar. I told him I am not out for a refund but he should maybe change the lettuce or make sure the staff is dressed properly. I told him he was lucky someone from the health dept didn't order that meal or a critic....(I guess I am kind of at this point now.) I was so surprised at his reaction and he said well I dont know what I can do now....ill do my best...Do you want 10 off your next purchase...I said no and hung up. After I hung up I thought well it was just a little hair. NO JOKE my next bite had more hair in it....totally disgusted. I am not sure I will patronize Petes on J st again...

Buffalo Chicken Salad is amazing! Makes it hard to order pizza here but that is good as well. The large order of knots is a must and the house beer is delicious.

  • Jim R.

I had the Caesar with grilled chicken, and my expectations were lowered because the menu described that they use Reggiano rather than Parmesan. (Honesty is appreciated). The dressing was on the 'creamy' side, the croutons were tiny yet numerous, and the chicken breast was appropriately plain. Bottom line is that while it was not a traditional Caesar, it was an enjoyable salad.

Best frosty mugs of beer in town. These are serious 24 oz. mugs, not the little kid mugs most places use. They frost the mugs and pull them from the freezer when it's time to pour your beer. All the food is good, pizza is great.

I was easily the oldest person in sight! But, didn't matter, the lunchtime crowd made me feel young. Had the fish and chips with Skinner's Horse IPA. Both were great. The wait staff was on top of everything. We, too, had a groupon. This establishment is well worth a return.

Good beer, good service, good price. I've been here about 5 times and have only had the app sampler. At lunch I had the pizza and salad special..They also play sports which the bf loves. Nothing too special, kinda like BJ's but in midtown

Very slooooow and poor service even though the restaurant was only 60% capacity. The food was forgettable...under-seasoned, overcooked, poor quality. Silverware was dirty. Will not be returning.

We can't stop coming here & making our own pizza (the best pizza ever). I really love their fresh pizza dough, it makes a delish crust. We order a pizza with white sauce (garlic ranch) red onion, bacon, chicken, black olives and TONS of ranch for dipping. The ranch there is bomb, mostly because they put buttermilk and mayo in it, but I try not to think of that while I am stuffing my face. I also love the knots (pizza dough with butter and parmesan). The other good thing about this joint is the have large soda cups, which is great because I tend to chug-a-lug at restaurants, so there are less empty glass periods. Oh yeah, their Blonde Ale is pretty good too.

I finally had a weekday off and seeing as they have a pretty good lunch special we decided to give it a go. I've had good and so-so experiences here before, but because the menu has a variety we decided to go here to possibly satisfy what everyone wanted. The service was excellent. We were seated immediately and our drink order was taken. I ordered the pizza/salad special and for $6.99 you really can't go wrong. The only reason why I removed a star was the pizza was dumb greasy and the food overall was just OK. Not bad, but not great either. Had it not been for the great service I would have taken off another star. Hey it's my opinion - deal with it. I also like how all the TVs were showing sports. This is good place to come watch a game and grab some pizza and beer.

Two words: Lunch Special. Who doesn't love a "personal" style pizza + salad for a low price that can last two meals, given the large portion? No my favorite pizza in the world, but a solid showing for a great price! For ambiance they've regularly improved the environment over the last 20 years, so it feels casual and contemporary. Not trendy at all, but perfect for the casual fare served.

I used to work here, and for that reason alone I feel like I shouldn't talk about it positively or negatively even though I could write a novel. The best salad is one I created: Santa Fe plus feta, minus the chicken, minus olives and minus sour cream the best pizza is also one I created: Mushrooms, feta, no cheese extra sauce... but I guess that isn't really a 'pizza'... that's all I have to say about it. Except all the people that work there are nuts and whore nuts.

I've never been a huge fan of their pizza. Gallons of sauce, crust too thick, not terribly flavorful...however the Mushroom Jack Burger, is...OMG. I haven't had one in at least 2 months (must limit oneself on these things) so that is lunch today! Woooo! No more stupid Lean Cuisines, its Friday! And I will not be able to move from this desk except to sigh until around 5 p.m. when I waddle myself home. Slowly. For a non-burger joint the beef patty is, well, really beefy and char-grilled tasting. I don't know how because I don't see a grill in there. It's served on a French roll, with lots of melty jack cheese, and sauted mushrooms. Hello! Good! And while not on the same level as Nationwide which is just a stroll down the street (hmm, maybe I should reconsider) it's still really good. They're two different of animals to compare. The Caesar is, um, ok if you're desperate. I like the Oriental Chicken Salad except that they use fried chicken tenders that are 50/50 chicken and breading. Same with the Cajun shrimp. Don't get me wrong as breaded and fried foods are definitely something I enjoy I just like a much lighter balance of breading. A hint. Not a shell. As for fries, they're the standard from a bag frozen kind. Not my fav, Streets fries will always be my fav but I seem to be in the minority with that opinion. The onion rings are really good. I'm debating just how bad I really want to be. Hmmmm. Oooh, one last thing, the girl who takes the lunch take-out orders is always super nice and friendly. In fact, even when I've had to order a gazillion pizzas for the office they've been helpful and never messed anything up; seems like they have a happy staff, which makes it a pleasant place to visit. ETA: My burger today kinda sucked and the bread was undercooked. Just shot down a star.

I wish I had known that the way to get a table at Zelda's is to call in the pizza ahead of time. If I'd known we wouldn't have ended moving our pizza & beer night to Original Pete's--the most generic looking pizza joint in the history of pizza. It could almost be a Round Table or some other chain (it's not a chain, right?). The pizza was actually okay with decent quality ingredients and thicker crust than advertised, but both our pizza & salad were fairly expensive and I didn't think either of them were that amazing. I probably wouldn't go back.

We brought a large group for a birthday celebration and Pete's was pretty accommodating for our party of 15. A reservation was made for 7pm and sure enough, the table was ready at 7pm. We were there on a Wednesday night when bottles of wine are half off. Apparently, it's a popular special because a few of my friends were told they would have to wait because the restaurant had run out of wine glasses! They did eventually bring wine glasses, but it was a very strange thing to hear from a restaurant. For food, I shared the Creamy Garlic and Chicken Pizza. It turned out to be your standard family style pizza, but a good choice nonetheless. The garlic sauce was creamy and a flavorful addition to the thick crust. In short, Pete's is nothing special and nothing too original. If you're looking for a convenient and low-key Midtown restaurant to bring your family or a big group, their large and varied menu caters to many tastes.

Kinda surprised at how much hate there is going towards this place, but then again, it's not the kind of surprise that is rooted in wavering disbelief. I just haven't been there that often, and it's been a while. I've had some odd experiences there myself, as far as service and atmosphere. I've definately felt a weird vibe or even witnessed very strange public displays at least twice, and I've probably only been there four or five times. My three-stars is based somewhat on the attempt to be neutral, as it's been a while. Maybe it's not always that wierd, and I remember the pizza being safe to eat. I don't remember the pizza being all that bad. It's sort of not-that-thin thin crust, as I remember, and the sauce is there, but kind of seems to be there because somebody doesn't like sauce, but feels like people will get mad at them if they don't put some on. I'd eat there again, or at least; I'd eat the pizza again. I'm not scared to go back, but I'm probably going to be electing to check out other pizza places that I haven't tried yet, or just go to Zelda's.

Stopped by here last night to grab a bite.... all i can say is that it is mediocre at best. The service was about as slow as could be... the food was average at best.... however, the place seemed to have a pretty decent atmosphere... the absolute deal breaker was the music they had playing... it super slow paced music that i (nor the 6 other people i was with) could identify..... it really brought the whole place down. Now i know that it was a sunday evening, but i think that it would be even worse for the employees that have to work an entire shift of sitting though that....

There's no reason to walk inside this restaurant. If you're suffering from heat stroke, cool off at Azul. If you've got hypothermia, get a bear hug in the alley. You're looking for pizza and beer? Safeway has got you covered. Otherwise, having decided to go to Pete's, you'll need the support of a loved one to ease you through the ordeal.

I didn't realize that dining at a restaurant gave people permission to make rude and somewhat judgemental comments about the people that work there. Maybe Pete's is an equal-opportunity employer and the hostess really does have down-syndrome. I highly doubt it, but that sounds just as ridiculous as some of the other reviews I've read. I've dined at pete's and ordered delivery serveral times. I love the fact they deliver their entire menu. That means customers aren't limited to just pizza and crappy salads that other places offer. If I want pasta, I can get pasta. If I want a big salad, i can get one and it's not wilted lettuce that looks like it's been sitting around for a couple of days! As for dining at the actual restauant itself, all my experiences have been good. The decor isn't the best, it kind of looks like five or six different decorating ideas all blended together, but I'm not going to let that affect my overall restaurant experience. The servers I've encountered have been very friendly with out being fake or overally cheesy, which I've experienced elsewhere. At times it seems service is a little slow or the food may take longer than I'd like, but I'm sure there are reasons as to why that happens, which I as a diner can't always see, and in the end it's worth it anyway. The pizza is never greasy like at Zelda's and the menu has such a variety that even if you go out with ten people who all want different things, everyone will probably find something they will like.

I went back to Pete's recently and was EXTREMELY disappointed. The service was unbearably slow. It took 15 minutes to ladle premade soup into a bowl, out garlic fry appetizer didn't come out until entrees were brought which was about 50-55 minutes after we ordered. I asked for a straw TWICE for my drink, never got it. My girlfriend was asked if she wanted bread with her soup and she said sure. Magically an entire cheese bread appetizer came out with the soup that we didn't want but definitely were charged for. It was just disastrous, unbearably slow service and I don't think I'll be going back to Pete's again which is a shame because the food was actually not bad

Good stuff. We went on the second Saturday of the month (the monthly art walk) around 6pm.....a very busy time. Got the fish tacos. The service was great, the beer was very good and the food was very very tasty. We would definitely go again.

We walked in wanting to try somewhere new. This pizza was pretty good, but a lot more expensive than a couple of the better places in town. The beer on tap was great. I was really impressed with their Uptown Blonde. What the 7-layer chocolate cake lacked in taste it made up for in quantity. The servers were nice, but extremely slow and watching the basketball game more than paying attention to the customers. Don't come here expecting a quick bite. All in all, it was decent. I'd come back for the beer but maybe not much else.

This place was good. Not great, but not bad either. Mr. Boyfriend and I went there on Valentines Day (it was kindof a last minute "hey! turns out I don't have to work" deal) Our server was friendly and the food came out fast and it seemed to be pretty reasonably priced (2 people with an appetizer, 2 salads and entree a piece and couple of sodas was about 16 bucks a person not including the tip). The seating is kinda crappy. We were at a table like RIGHT in front of the kitchen. The plus side of that was getting to see all the servers gossip about eachother lol. If you do go, for the love of all things sacred get the Deep Fried Artichoke Hearts!! They're covered in freshly grated parmesean cheese (none of that powdered Kraft junk) served with melted Garlic Butter and simply to die for (which you just might do if you have high cholesterol...the sauce is pure butter...but dammit you'll die happy)

We ended up getting stuck eating here since it was Second Saturday so everywhere that was decent had a long wait. This place is like the Denny's of pizza... edible but not very good. Service was OK but had to remind server if I wanted more water, place setting, etc. The one bright spot was decent beer selection. The food is sub-par and there's no real atmosphere. With all the options in midtown, I'd only go here out of desperation.

When it comes to Original Pete's, I'm reminded of a law that applies to radio stations which is this: The more a radio station has to advertise itself, or give away cash & prizes, the more it's going to suck like a black-hole. The same thing can be said of Original Pete's- saturation-leval advertising, and weekly coupons can only mean one thing: low-quality product. I've been telling friends this for some time, and have balked at giving them my cash. But one friend insisted we get a meal from Pete's (he was buying), so their pizza was the meal of the evening. Too bad I was not wrong about my pre-assesment. The pizza was low on toppings, which tended to tumble off whenever a piece was taken from the box. The dough was "chewy," and not in a good way. The first bite would bring with it the entire cheese topping, leaving a thin-coated pizza bread. While the Sacramento New & Review regular staff may love them (I wouldn't be suprised if they get their orders for free), I was quite unimpressed.

The price was alright. 30 dollars and some cents for an extra large all meat pizza, but the pizza was absolutely delicious. Not on the cheap end, but you will be happy with the product. Great service and they even call when they are at the building if you are ordering to your work so that is very nice.

This used to be a four star review and I'm editing it (on 2/11/09) for reasons I am about to list. In short, I regret to say that Downtown Pete's Delivery now sucks. Since my husband and I don't have a car, we've really appreciated places that deliver food. And, for a while, Original Pete's was our favorite. They are the only place in Downtown Sac that will deliver a burger and fries. I have food allergies, so I almost always have to put in a special order. It used to be that the quality of the food and the quality of the service from Original Pete's was superb and well worth the extra cost. And then they changed from a regular Pete's to a Pete's brewhouse and everything changed. Last night was the last straw. We got a delivery order that was missing the side salad and fries I ordered. So we called and asked then to redeliver those items. When they came back the side salad they brought me was wilted and gross, so I didn't eat it. Not that it mattered, since I ended up having diarrhea late that night from the shrimp and steak they delivered me. This is by no means the first fowl up. They brought me a burger with rotten pastrami not once, but twice. It was green and smelled so foul that I noticed the moment the food came in the door. Then they charged our Credit Card twice and then told us that could do about the charge until it cleared the bank and they this was a problem they "kept having" with their charge machine. I can't even think of an order over the last year that hasn't been missing some item. And the quality of their food has gone way down hill. I had a chicken salad a couple months back that tasted so foul that I couldn't even finish it. The chicken was fine, it was the vegetables that tasted like ass. We kept trying to given them another try, seeing as they're the only place downtown that delivers more than pizza (or Chinese). I don't count Food-To-You becasue you have to order in the afternoon to get delivery at night. And Ink doesn't start delivering until 9pm. We even talked to the manager last night and he asked up to not give up on Pete's. But then the salad he brought me to replace the one they forgot the first time was inedible. I'm out of forgiveness. We gave them not a second chance, but a like 13th chance last night and they once again disappointed us. At some points it's just best to move on. So no more Pete's for us.

The crust is what makes the pizza! We love the pizza because it is not overly heavy on the sauce or cheese. We almost always get our pizza to go (we live outside their delivery area). The service at the restaurant has been hit and miss for us.

Excellent pizza, they use very good quality ingredients. I'm a huge fan of their thin crust pizza especially. I've been to some places where the thin crust reminds me of cardboard, Pete's is not like that, it's the perfect thickness. The house salad is a nice side as well.

We went to the location in Natomas, at the corner of Gateway Park and Del Paso. The calamari wasn't all that awsome, but the pizza wasn't bad. The pizza was fresh-tasting and pretty non-greasy for a pizza. Based on other yelp reviews, I was expecting more of a sports bar feel, but there are only 2 moderately sized TVs at this location. Overall, I thought it was a decent just-around-the-corner joint.

Okay, I like pizza. Who doesn't like pizza? It just seems like though, I can't find a good one anywhere anymore. Those ones they slap together at Round Table, or Dominos, I mean I eat them sure, but do I enjoy them?..no. No I don't. I've searched sll over Sac, looking for the elusive perfect pizza place. Like one where the dough was hand rolled out and they use meat and vegetables they sliced just for your pizza. Well you know what? I finally found all this and more..it was at Pete's. The first week my husband and I went there, we shared the BBQ chicken pizza, which was amazing! I had to make sure I started eating my slice at the pointy end, so I didn't just eat the crust off all the pieces.. :) They also have a huge menu of other things, sandwiches, salads, pasta, fish and chips, burgers, lots of beers. All I know about is the pizza and beers (which come in huge icy mugs!). And I am giving both 5 stars.

For some reason, I like this place. They don't do any one thing better than anyone else, but they do a lot of things quite well IMO. The garlic chicken pizza is wonderful, the burgers are good quality, the sides are all tasty and fried ... it's not for health food seekers, but Pete's provides a bevy of well made junk food to those who desire it.

The pizza's okay. It's nothing to drag your parents to when they are in town.

My favorite pizza in town. I'm a pizzaholic, so I'll probably rate several places highly, but Pete's has always been my favorite for almost 20 years now. Plus you can eat outside if you like, and don't mind getting hit up for money occasionally by someone going by. I like the crust, the edge is thick, and the sauce has just enough bite to it.
