Stopped in for lunch and had the Greek salad with gyro meat. The meat was fresh and hot with great flavor, no complaints there. The rest of the salad was not so good. To start with they put the meat in a pile on one side of the plate. The salad filled the rest of the plate, which was small, and trying to mix it all together only results in various pieces of food falling off the plate and onto the table. The lettuce is iceberg which doesn't have much color or nutrients at all. The tomatoes were gross, translucent and no flavor whatsoever. I counted a whopping two kalamata olives in the entire salad. Better veggies with more color, a bigger plate, and more olives would make a huge improvement to this dish. Pita bread was very good. Service was good, attentive and nice.

This place is in a terrible location. The strip mall its in looks like it has seen better days, but hidden inside is this gem! My son and I shared an order of greek fries. They were a perfect combo of salty, crunchy and tangy. Yum! He got the pasta with mizithra cheese and I got the chicken kabob with a side of hummus and pita bread. Prices were very reasonable and portions were mid size- enough but not a lot for take home. The man working the counter when we were there was both friendly and informative. I hope this location doesn't keep people away. It's so good!

I had been looking forward to Café Europa because I'd heard such good things about it, so I met a longtime friend there today for lunch. My husband and I went to Greece for our honeymoon and I'm always interested in obtaining authentic Greek food locally. Café Europa is a casual place; you order and pay at the counter and they bring your food to the table. It's also very popular and we got there early to avoid the lunch rush, which was good as it quickly became very full and quite noisy. I ordered the Wednesday lunch special, falafel, with a side salad and drink (for an additional $4.25). The falafel sandwich on pita bread came with both tzatziki and tahini sauce on the side. The salad looked pretty good at first - with Kalamata olives, white onion, cucumber and tomato slices, oil and vinegar dressing (on the side) and lots of feta cheese - but it was built upon a bed of iceberg lettuce rather than Romaine or another leafy salad green. The tomatoes, which can be purchased at any farmers market and are so good this time of year, were pale and flavorless, too, leading me to wonder where they are getting their vegetables. The falafel patties were crispy outside and tender inside with the right amount of spice and the tzatziki sauce was delicious but, alas, the pita sandwich also contained more shredded iceberg lettuce and flavorless tomatoes. My friend reported that her Greek spaghetti was a bit dry and could have used some additional olive oil but it had a good garlic flavor and a nice sprinkling of Mizithra cheese. She's never had the Mizithra spaghetti at the Old Spaghetti Factory, and had no prior experience with which to compare it. I'm not sure whether I'll return to Café Europa for another meal. The prices are good but they could stand to find a better source for their fresh produce. Better veggies would really bring out the flavor of these Mediterranean-style, vegetable based dishes.

It's difficult to find good falafel in Sacramento. Really. Café Europa is hidden in the kind of strip mall that, if you're not already familiar with all the weird signage and one-way driveways, you'll have to circle twice. Thankfully, the second go 'round's worth it. The food here is damn tasty: my falafel pita was fat and delicious, while my boyfriend was very pleased with his lamb-thingy. But we agreed that our favorite part was the Greek fries. Oh, the Greek fries. Feta, oregano, and lemon served over a huge mound of golden fries, this was definitely the tastiest plate on our trip through Sacramento. Service was very fast, the menu reasonably priced. The man at the front is very friendly. Four stars!

This is an awesome place to sit and have lunch or dinner. It's tucked in a quiet corner. The food is very authentic and the taste is amazin! I could eat here for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Went here on a Friday night because of the high rating on Yelp. Well, we were not dissapointed. It's a small restaurant in a weird little strip mall with some other fast food type restaurants, and right next to the Chili's on Howe bout Arden. Ample parking. No one was in the restaurant at 5:50 pm when we got there. There were a few more patrons when we left. Why isn't this place busier? Maybe they are busier at lunch. It's awesome! The food was top notch! I had the chicken kabob and my husband had the lamb. The chicken was incredibly flavorful and marinated. It was so juicy and not dry. They gave you a lot too. We also had a side of hummus and pita, which was also really tasty. The service was friendly and fast. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. I just think it was very nice and prompt, and they always made sure we had enough water, pita bread, etc. Total was $30...that is for dinner for two, 1 beer, the hummus and pita, and one spanakopita. I think that's a pretty good deal for food that was really good, and decent portions (not too big, not too small). I will definitely go back again and try some more!

Taky is obviously very passionate about his restaurant and it comes through the food. I ordered the chicken kabob plate dinner special which came with spanikopita, dolmas, veggies, and choice of soup or salad. The food was amazing and the service was great. Will be back next time I'm in town for sure!

Excellent, authentic Greek food! Great portions that will leave you very satisfied. Great customer service as well the owner is hands on and cares about his clients. Please if you are in Sacramento give this locally owned establishment a chance, you will not be disappointed like you may be after some other local Greek Restaurants. This food took me back to my childhood eating out of my Yiayia's Kitchen.

Was in the mood for Greek and saw the reviews on this gem, so gave them a try. The service was amazing, the food was even better, not enough stars to give this place!

  • Tom M.

I've been eating here for about 2 years now, the food is phenomenal!! Taky, the owner, is the nicest person and always remembers faces. I've been to numerous Greek restaurants and this cafe is not only the best bang for the buck but also the best food of all of them!! $20 for lunch for 2, can't beat that :-)

Me and boyfriend's new joint! He can't go a week without visiting. Can't get enough of their Greek fries, supreme gyros, and that darn Taziki sauce! Can't wait to try everything else on their menu! The place is nice and clean. The cashier (who is also the owner), is very friendly. He told us all about his family business. I think it's great that the owner becomes up close and personal with his customers. We recommend to all. Plus, you get a discount if you have a Sacramento State ID!

Very clean and fast service I definitely would recommend the supreme gyros for flavor and variety of texture. Me and my friend definitely feasted an authentic Greek favorite! Bravo cafe Europa

Really delish dolmas and spanakopita!! I'll have to come back to taste the rest of their menu. Very friendly too. :)

I've been on a mission to replace Dino's as my gyro joint of choice in Sacramento. Cafe Europa is this place. The beef and lamb gyros are fantastic. They're loaded up with perfectly seasoned gyro meat, always tender, not too greasy or salty. The tomatoes, onions and other veggies are crisp and fresh. Most importantly, the gyro pita is always super soft. No worries about the bread cracking or biting into some stale and nasty corner. The perfect accompaniment are the Greek fries. It's a huge helping served with feta, lemon juice and oregano - enough for a table to share. The only negative with these is the fries aren't fresh cut and are not hearty enough to hold the toppings up on their own; these are more "eat-with-a-fork" fries. Not a dealbreaker, but they are delicious enough to overlook this issue. The staff is all incredibly friendly and personable. The location is a bit hard to find (make sure you make the turn into the parking lot right after passing that new shopping center on the corner of Arden and Howe) There's a television in the corner and it's always tuned into the Niners or Giants game (if one is on), so no worries if you're being dragged off the couch for lunch. You will be offered extra tzatziki on the side with every order. The correct answer is always yes.

When you're looking to find delicious food and great customer service this is definitely the place to visit ! The gyros here are tasty and the greek fries are perfect. One of my favorites is the chicken kabob gyro. Juicy pieces of chicken, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes inside a pita bread; it also comes with a side of tzatziki sauce. I've tried many of their dishes and they all tasted great but I keep coming back for the gyro. The service is quick, friendly and curtious. The owner is very attentive and friendly. Great place for lunch or dinner!!

Food here is really well done. I looked on yelp for a place to grab a gyro and this was the closest place with decent reviews. I came in at an odd hour so i was the only person in the restaurant. I got a gyro and a soda which was quite nice and the white yogurt sauce really brought everythinf together. But one thing that truly stood out to me while eating here was the level of service. It is on a whole new level, the manager/owner is deeply passionate about the restaurant and the customers who come to dine there.

Yeah, this place is good. Had the chicken w/ rice with a side of pita and some falafel and left happy. Nice place yelpers...very much worth the stop.

My go to place for gyros in Sac! I usually get the Chicken Gyro with a side of Greek Fries (topped with feta, lemon juice, and oregano). Both my dine-in and take out experience have been quick and friendly!

This was a first rate lamb gyro I loved every bite! The owner is a very warm and accommodating fellow! I highly recommend it!

Avgolemono soup = comfort food = joyous Wordsmith Chica! I got the Avgolemono soup by mistake but it was a serendipitous one indeed; it reminded me of a Greek diner I used to patronize in my hometown metropolis. I didn't mention the mix-up and happily cleaned the bowl. The owner realized I had originally ordered the lentil soup; to rectify the confusion he brought out a "sample," a half bowl which I also downed (the lemon enhanced the bountiful seasoning). As for the other menu items: the falafel is not deep fried but rather pan-fried making it a healthier option. The tzatziki was the right balance of garlic/cucumbers and a hint of dill. Genial service, delicious food, EXTREMELY reasonable prices and clean bathrooms? (One Card discount to boot! 10%) What's more to love! Opa!

Best Greek food I've ever had! Both my boyfriend and I ordered the beef/lamb gyro which was to die for! The meat was so tender and was melt in your mouth! We also ordered a side of the Greek fries which were amazing as well and an order of pita bread with hummus. Both the pita bread and hummus tasted homemade--so good! One of my favorite parts about this place though was how authentic it felt the moment I walked in. This is definitely a place I will be coming back to again and again.

  • Dominic C.

Really, there isn't much to complain about the food here. It's not the most amazing gyro in the world and it's better than some. The place itself is in a random corner of a random business plaza though and the decor is sparse. The dining area is strangely large and they serve a variety of wines. Maybe I just came at a bad time but the place was pretty empty and there were flies that kept bothering me.

Extremely good food that's only a stone's throw away from the Arden Mall. The gyros are outstanding. The beef has a fantastic taste and texture and the chicken has a nice lemon accent. The pita bread is soft, yet chewy. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive.

I have wanted to try this place for a while. Today my best friend and I went for it! I ordered the chicken club and small side of greek fries. My partner in crime ordered the beef supreme gyro with a side of egg lemon soup. Both entrees were delicious, but I preferred the beef gyro to my chicken club. While the chicken in mine was very tender and cooked to perfection, the beef gyro seemed to have more meat, and the flavor of the beef was outstanding. So, yes... I had a little *gyro envy*, LOL! I will definitely get that next time. The greek fries were screamin' and I enjoyed my little talk with them..."NOM NOM, NuM NuM". I didn't care for the Egg-Lemon Soup at this spot. The Greek Village Inn's Avgolemono Soup is by far superior. Cafe Europa's Tzatziki Sauce is the best I've ever had though, props for that. The owner helped us, and he's not only easy on the eyes! His customer service skills tell me he is very successful. He's attentive, efficient, and communicates well. He is very busy, but great at multitasking. He makes you feel valued as a customer while he's whizzing by to check on someone or fill a drink. Working customer service myself, I know these people are few and far between. I can't wait to go back!

This place was okay to me. I tried the Beef Gyro and the Farafel. The beef gyro was a bit dry and i thought it was average, however the farafel was good. They have everyday specials, great customer service, and decent pricings.

I'm kind of new to Greek food. I mean, I always thought it was OK, but I never craved it or sought it out for a meal. Lately I've been persuaded to change that. Our meal came out quickly and was piping hot. My boyfriend and I each had the special - rice, meat (I had the beef, he had the lamb), dolma, green beans, pita, tzatziki sauce, and soup (mine was lentil, and his was lemon rice). The highlights of the meal: the lentil soup (I'll crave this on the next cold afternoon) and the flavor of the meat. True, the meat was a bit overcooked and dry, but still delicious. All that food for something like $14 a pop - and neither of us cleaned the plate. Next time I think I'd split the big plate and order some sides to come with it. Delicious flavors.

GREEK FOOD HERE IS GOOOOOD!!!! what I like: portioned greek fries+Krinkle cut!!! Most other places have this ginormous one where you pay more to eat. Falafels were delicious, excellent Tzkiki sauce. TIP: If you get the greek fries add a few ounces of meat for $1 an oz and nom nom nom.

Keeping in line with my Greek food kick, I knew I had to try Cafe Europa soon! The parking lot is a bit shady but the beef schwarma is DELICIOUS. Order it! Seriously, that meat is so flavorful, crispy, and salty. Order it on a plate or in a gyro. The tzatziki sauce was one of the best I've ever had as well, flavored perfectly with bits of cucumber and a chill accompaniment to the meat. The Greek fries were also delicious on their own or dipped into the sauce too. The fries were fresh and sprinkled with lemon juice, feta and spices! Yum. One other thing I had to try was the falafel. It was crispy and nicely flavored as well. My friend liked her chicken as well, but did agree that the beef was really good. The staff was very friendly and as we were leaving the place was starting to fill up. We left very full and my entree, 2 appetizers, and beer totaled just under $20! What a deal.

Came here for a quick dinner. The guy was very friendly and offered assistance in selecting entrees. Great customer service. The place was clean and well kept. Lamb kabob $10 8 juicy, tender, and not so chewy pieces of lamb along with a choice of rice or salad. The lamb was decent and the salad was fresh. My friend got the beef and it tasted kinda thin and "old" so I would recommend the lamb over the beef. greek fries $4 grocery store cut fries topped with cheese and spices. Served with ketchup. The fries were ordinary but the cheese and spices were pretty flavorful. The portions are big enough to share with 2 people. Overall a decent lunch spot more than a dinner spot but the quality of the food was above average. i wouldnt mind coming back.

So nearly 10 years ago I had my first Gyro at the Arden mall. I think it was actually my first taste food that wasn't either far west or far east (American or Asian). That meal changed my perspective on food entirely. Sad to say this profound moment was in a mall. A few yers ago this place closed down. That's more sad actually. Today I came into Cafe Europa for the first time and chatted up with the owner. He tells me that his parents owned that same joint in the mall and he opened this place after graduating and working a few years. The cook making my food was actually the same person at the prior restaurant. Crazy. I ordered the Super Gyro, which was pretty kickass. It wasn't overly greasey and was loaded with meat, veggies and fries. Very much worth the price. Easily one of the best gyros I've had. This place gets a 5 for great food, a cool owner, and for giving me a false sense of nostalgia.

GREEK FRIES...it's not the only thing I ate, but it's the only thing I remember at this point because they were really unique and delicious! I was supposed to be on a diet and that went straight out the window. Get them!

One of the best gyros I've ever had! The tzatziki is great, the perfect consistency. The pita bread is fresh and toasted - don't forget to get the Greek fries, the lemon, gets and oregano combination is delicious.

Good family restaurant. I ordered the Supreme gyro sandwich which was very tasty and filling and my boyfriend enjoyed the Takys gyro. I highly recommend the greek fries and tatzaki, this was a nice touch to our meal.

Great food and nice staff. Spanakopitas are awesome!! Warm spinach filling, wrapped in a light flakey phyllo. Beef/lamb gyro is one of the best I've had in a long time. Fresh veggies, warm pita and just the right amount of spices in the meat. Would most definitely come back... Like today. lol

I love, LOVE Greek food. So when I found out about this place on Yelp, I dragged my brother here. Boy was it hard to find. Be careful when you're driving around looking for this place. It's in a little corner of a plaza that's not too big. It's actually in the plaza behind the big Nordstrom Rack/Pinkberry at the Howe Bout Arden plaza. Once you do find it though, it's so worth it to come back. The waiter was a perky guy who had his sleeves rolled up and a smile on his face. He answered our questions brightly and took our orders quickly. We waited a bit and then the food came out. I guess it's more of a takeout style place, because water came in little foam cups and the utensils were plastic. *shrug* I'm not complaining. The food goes where it needs to go. I got the supreme gyro, super because there are fries in it. It was really tasty! I can't get enough of the tzaziki sauce. I also had the Greek fries, which was just crinkle cut fries with feta cheese, lemon juice, and some kind of garnish on top. They were tasty, but when we ate all the toppings, it was just plain fries, which were just whatever. If I got it again, I would ask for extra toppings just so all the fries get that tasty Greek flavoring to them. MMMM! I recommend the supreme gyro for newcomers and Greek fries if you come with a friend, so you can share. The prices are decent and they even have daily specials for everyday of the week! Definitely recommend this place for Greek food lovers and those who are willing to try Greek food.

Fantastic. Been looking around the Sac area for a decent greek place, this is super! Tried the beef gyro and side salad. My lunch date got the falafel with tahini sauce and fries. Even my side salad was fantastic, the dressing was light, red wine vinegar-y, the feta cheese was very fresh, and had an abundance of onion, tomato, olives and cucumber. I loved my gyro, it was way, WAY too much for me to finish, they don't skimp on fillings here. They even tossed a few french fries in there. Meat, fries, lettuce, onion, tomato, feta, and tatziki on the side. Delicious. The bread was super fresh too, nothing stale or a day old in this place! The gent that served us (you order at the corner and they bring everything out, including walking napkins and silverware out to the table you're headed to) was incredibly nice and efficient. Can't wait to try all the other things on the menu. MMMmmmm,

This Is a great find! My family loves a well made Gyro. It's been hard to locate. This small place is not fancy, but it is clean, has great service and the food is simple but amazing! This will be our new must go place for dinner! Ps... Grab the Greek fries. Yummmmmyyyyy!

Fantastic gyros! Especially the spiced meat. The avoglemono soup is very tasty and not overwhelmingly lemony. The server taky was very personable and calls all the ladies "love". We were the only people when we walked in at 6 but by the time we left the place was booming.

This was my go-to place for Greek food when I was living in Arden. Probably my favorite place for gyro sandwich though it's not big, it's also not overstuffed that it falls apart like other places. I'm also a fan of the Greek fries that I consider to be healthy carne asada fries. I've tried some other dishes, and they're all at least decent. I like the coffee frappe too; neither an iced coffee nor latte, but still good. I'll admit Europa probably isn't the best Greek food restauraunt in Sac, and their portions are smaller than other places, but the chef/manager here is very courteous and gives prompt service, a pretty standup guy overall so I don't mind giving him my business. Neither should you.

  • Debbie T.

I had the kabob sandwich, with perfectly cooked large chunks of very flavorfull lamb with a side of delicious Greek fries. I also wanted to try the other meats so I ordered by the ounce portions of lamb/beef and chicken gyro meat. Both were moist and full of flavor. Great Baklava. Service was excellent! I will definitely go back.

Great food and service. The place was clean and guy behind the counter was super friendly and gave fantastic customer service. Not a fancy place, but the gyro's and the Greek fries were delicious. Thanks yelp for the help in finding my family a good place to eat. This will be a regular stop for us when we are craving a gyro.

Located behind the Howe 'bout Arden Center, in a strip mall with Great Wall. You could enter off of Howe or the parking lot of Century Theaters extends to the strip mall as well. It's a Greek and American eatery where you order at the counter and your food is brought to your table when it's ready. It's clean. The guy working up front would habitually spray things clean from the tables to the glass on the doors. He also throws on "Love" or "Friend" on when talking to people. I think this girl I work with does it so much that I still don't like it but I tolerate it more. Anyway, the guy working the front does this. And he's very people friendly and mindful of service. My food came out temperature hot. The pita for the Beef Gyro was crispy. It helped hold everything in rather than tearing through. Tzaziki came on the side. I wonder if I asked if they'd slather it in the sandwich.. Chicken Gyro didn't come with as much meat as when I had the beef but it was good. The pita wasn't crispy this time though.. Always fresh produce. Spanokopita was oily but the filling was perfect. If anything else, the Greek Fries were my favorite thing so far. It didn't look like it would be amazing but it was. That lemon juice makes a big difference. So if your choice is between regular fries and these Greek Fries.. Really-- get the Greek. 3.5 stars (Greek Fries pushed it a little over 3)

Came in here, hungry as a beast. I am a vegetarian and I was on business so I was looking for a quick easy delicious meal. I found it right here! Perfect service! Completely fresh! So appetizing! Good food and healthy. The owner was there; great guy! Very friendly. The atmosphere in this quaint place was remarkable after the blazing sun. I had the falafels and every bite I took I died a little

The place was quiet and empty at lunch time, and we had to order at the counter, while there was an available server, which gave me a slightly bad impression. However, when my Lamb Gyros with Salad and bread came out, I was surprised with the dish. It has a decent amount of lamb, not as little as I thought. The lamb BBQ smell was super attractive, and the salad looked so fresh and tasty. Obviously, the plate did not disappoint me; the hot and flavorful slice of lamb, plus the soft bread and crunchy salad kept my mouth working constantly. All of my not-so-good impressions were completely gone. Delicious! It was a rich, heavy and healthy meal. For $9.71, the Gyros + salad combination is a reasonable choice; in keeps you full, satisfied and healthy. I would recommend to anyone who wants to try Greek food!

Pretty dang good stuff. Very friendly staff and (seemingly) authentic food! I'm a fan of their falafel, and I've managed to hook several of my co-workers on it as well! Their gyros are quite nice, too! That being said, I can't remember ever meeting a gyro I didn't like, but this is no exception. Portions are pretty generous, too. No stand-out items that I've had yet, but again, everything is a B or a B+ here. No complaints whatsoever.

Gyro was solid. The produce was fresh and the hospitality was just as good as the food, very cool people working there. I would eat here again if I was on this side of sac.

What a fabulous find! Not only is the staff friendly, but the food is great! As a Greek American, it's difficult to find food that actually lives up to the expectation of the island food I was raised with. Honestly, the tzatziki is so legit-which is refreshing because normally people just put some dill in yogurt and try to pass it as that. Piggy backing on that, the gyros are to die for (filled with quality meat and great flavors)- as well as the rice plates. Great plates, great customer service (and a good looking owner!) Overall, a wonderful experience. I am definitely coming back!!

Good food at the right price. Specials from 11-4pm... Mon- $5 greek cheeseburger. Tues- $5 beef gyro. Wed- $5 falafel. Thurs- $5 pastrami. Fri- $5greek spaghetti. The owner is a doll and he makes us feel like fam! Try it you won't be disapointed... or is on me ;-)

Very friendly service. I had a falafel sandwich -- the falafels were a bit on the dry side, but fortunately not greasy. The tzatziki and the tahini were perfect and delicious in an of themselves and complemented the falafel perfectly. My friend had a gyro sandwich, and the meat was very tasty and not too salty as sometimes happens. The fries were nothing special and unless you have to have fries with your sandwich I'd skip them and have something else. Definitely a place I would go back to for lunch when in the area.

Had the Gyro entree with tzatkatia sauce which was awesome. There was hardly anyone inside when we went for lunch and 1 very courteous staff person worked the counter and waited tables. The atmosphere was pleasant for lunch. Customers order from the counter, after which the tables are waited on for drinks etc. I will definitely go back...

If you desire amazing food and the best customer service then cafe Europa is the place to go. On our first visit the owner was eager to go thru the menu and explain all his dishes to get the right match for us. After the second visit he already had our orders memorized. Very friendly and personable he makes you very welcome and let's you know he appreciates your patronage. Everything on the menu is delicious from the gyros to the pastrami. Slowly making my way through the whole menu and my tummy couldn't be happier.

This place was a bit hard to find as there were so many shops and places to eat around this area of town but I finally managed to find it in the corner. After seeing so much praise about this Greek food hotspot, I decided it was my turn to give it try. First impression, the place was for the most part clean but not fancy or anything. I went on a tuesday during lunch time but the place was literally empty with just one customer. There weren't as many options to choose from on the menu as I''d thought. There were almost more appetitizers than there were main dishes.. I ordered the taky gyro and Loukaniko (which was described as grilled pork, turkey & beef sausage topped with lemon and oregano). I also ordered the greek wine (the only had one type). Taky gyro: 3 stars. It was not seasoned well enough, I had to dip it in as much sauce as possible to get a little taste. The meat was really really really tenderized. Good presentation, nicely wrapped. Loukaniko: 1 star. I was so dissappointed as this plate was put on the table. The plate consisted of sliced sausages that totaled up to no more than half a hot dog. There was barely any lemon or oregano topped on it. This plate costed me nearly as much as a gyro and the portion was about 1/20 the size of the gyro. It tasted nothing different than your typicall grilled sausage with a little seasoning. My friend let me tried out the hummus with pita appetizer and I'd say the hummus was not the best hummus. I would give it 3 stars and 5 stars for the pita bread (it was not burnt but toasted perfectly.) The only good thing I got out of this place was the 3 star gyro, pita bread, and the wine. The wine tasted great with the food. Customer service was great. The server constantly asks if everything was fine or not and whether the food was right. But maybe that was because we were the only one there. Overall, I would not be coming back to this place. It is way overrated.

Greek-American food is great! It's a steal for lunch specials. Just went there today, got a fully packed gyro with a creamy tzatziki sauce. I am definitely going to go back on Monday for the Greek cheeseburger special. Ryan R. recommended the supreme beef gyro and that is going to be on my hit list next!!! Staff is super friendly and even offered me water while I waited for my food. I felt like I was at my papou's house.

In town visiting my sister and her boyfriend, and he mentioned he hadn't found a good Greek place yet. After some Yelp research we checked out this place and it was definitely not a let down. Had a great gyro and greek salad.

Mmmmm.... Greek Fries... a rarity here in Sacramento, but these sure are the best around. Simply dressed with delicious feta cheese & oregano. They will even add lemon to them, which I am soooo hooked on now. It's a perfect blend of seasoning to them. It's great to see this place back up in business. They were the Greek place at Arden Fair mall and have finally reopened up in that little strip mall behind Howe About Arden. They have expanded their menu from when it was at Arden fair mall, adding dinners, including Chicken & Lamb Kabobs. My favorite (well in general I just love gyros) is the Gyro pita. They even have a twist to it, by adding french fries to it. I tried it and the fries picked up the taste of the Gyro meat and it was good but not sure if I would get it again. I am a gyro purist and prefer it more simpler. This is definitely one of the best Gyros around. You can see it right on the spicket waiting to be sliced off. This is definitely a great alternative to Greek Village Inn, as their prices are extremely reasonable. I really enjoy the Village Inn, but tend to not go because I think they are over priced. Cafe Europa has a nice selection of Greek food on their menu and service was excellent. They were very friendly. I look forward to trying other items on their menu, if I can tear myself away from the Gyro...

Truly delicious food. Ordered the Beef Gyro and that texture and flavor just drives me nuts. Tried a side of Dolamdes (lemon rice wrapped in grape leaf) and that was interesting. If you don't feel like a gyro they serve burgers but trust me you cannot go wrong with the gyro.

I love this Cafe! You walk in the subtle sound of Greek music, and the first thing you notice is Taky's (the owner) big smile as he greets you and opens your menu for you. It's the little things that set this place apart from the other Greek restaurants in town. As you glance through the quaint, and immaculate, setting you'll find that it's rich in culture, and cleaner than grandma's kitchen. The food is all home recipes, cooked with the same quality and care as dinner at Mom's house. Many of the items are specific to the cafe, and can't be found anywhere else... These are recipes the owner created as an adolescent, and perfected over his 20+ years in the industry. Tucked away at Howe 'bout Arden in the sweltering city of Sac, it's truly a diamond in the rough! Go once and you'll become a regular.

I love this place! It feels very Authentic! My boyfriend & I order two beef gyros. They were very delicious. However, next time I'm going to take out the feta cheese. The feta cheese was too strong for my liking!

Ohhh, YEAH!! HIT Cafe' Europa for THE biggest, awesomest Giros I've seen in MANY years!! Great, VERY nice staff. Manager, Tyke, is a great guy - Right out there to ensure 110% service for the Customers!! I'll be in and out year-round!!

This place totally made my day! I got the lamb kabob plate and an order of hummus and pita. The spinakopita was really good. The dolmas were good. The hummus was amazing, and the pilaf was super moist and delicious. The lamb was done well, very tasty. I'm looking foreword to the next time I hit Sacramento so I can come back and eat here again.

I usually go to this place all the time and I get the euro. It's always super good. But one day during my break, I stop by with my co-worker and we both get different entrees, but with the same meat (beef/lamb). That night my stomach hurt so bad and it felt like it took a billion years to digest. I asked my coworker the next day and she had the same reaction to the food. I would usually recommend this place, but I won't be going there anytime soon because I'm not sure how long they keep their cooked meats!!

Only been there once, but will be be going back ASAP! Beef/Lamb Gyros were awesome and the Tzatziki sauce was smooth and flavorful. Recommend if you want Greek that doesn't break the bank!

Strip Malls are typically filled with cheap clothes, chain food, and abandoned business- except for Cafe Europa. Highs: Best Gyros in Sacramento area, delicious avgolemeno soup, greek fries with a hint of lemon, and great service from a family whose young generation has re-invested in Greek dining. It's never very busy in my experience and I've always received high quality service from the young man who owns the joint, to the his sister who gives great service and remembers customers, to the Dad who wanders out from the back and reminds customers that these are family recipes and have history and pride. The food is rad and I come from midtown to patronize. Come and give it a try, it's the Best Greek in Sacramento in my opinion.

  • Shelley R.

My Gyros was good enough, complimented with the fresh sweet onions and fresh pita bread, but the previously frozen crinkle-cut fries were a bit disappointing. The Tzatziki was excellent, however, as good as I have had anywhere in the world. I WILL return, to try to lamp kabob, and to bask in the presence of the incredibly charming, good-looking, uniquely attentive man (the owner?) who took my order and served my meal. He could probably have served me the cardboard box the french fries came in and I would have enjoyed the meal nearly as much. :-D

Cafe Europa is the hidden jem of hidden jems. Tucked away on Howe, it not only has some of the best Greek food ever (the best I've found in Sac so far!), but some of the best FOOD ever! First of all, the service is amazing. My boyfriend and I went in late in the evening while washing our clothes at a nearby laundromat, and the server (owner, i think) was the nicest man I've ever met. He kept calling me 'love', which you can tell is obviously a habit, helped my indecisive boyfriend choose a meal, and then brought freshly cleaned silverware to our table. At one point he dropped a fork and muttered "Opa!" to himself... i definitely won a bet for that. His mom, dad, and sister were all eating and laughing at another table ("my other sister is usually here too, but she is on a cruise"), and he knew at least two of the next customers by name, and he was cheering on the Giants every time he had a free moment. I vowed to come back then and there, before the food even came out. When our greek fries came out I was a little incredulous. They looked like the crinkle cut fries that you microwave in the box, they serve them on AmTrak. OH MY GOD. They are anything but! Amazingly fresh, crispy, the perfect size. Smothered in just the right amount of everything, melt-in-your-mouth, swear-inducing heaven. Mmmm, I'm making myself hungry just thinking of it. My falafel pita was amazing, the falafels were plump and perfectly cooked, the tomatoes were fresh and not all goopy, and it had just the right amount of Tzatziki. My boyfriend looked so happy he could have kissed the server when he found out they served spanikopita, and ohhhh what a spanikopita it was. Flaky, creamy, spinach-y, yum! Well balanced, and good sized. The BF also got a Gyro and according to him it was to die for. I took one bite and agreed, before promptly devouring my falafel pita & more of the greek fries. I complained the entire ride home that I felt like I was going to throw up from eating so much, but I couldn't stop eating those damned Greek fries!

Love te gyros here. Don't see them with frys inside too often but I love it. The tszaziki sauce is great. The owner is there all day everyday so you know your getting great service all the time. He's friendly and got a gyro named after him the its got pepperchinies cheddar cheese. I been there at least 20 times in last few months.

Cafe Europa is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at. Not only is the food delicious but the service is superb. The small family owned business is big on catering to your every need. I ordered the delicious village gyro because thats the way I like it. I love that I didn't have to order anything special but that it came exactly how I grew up eating gyros. On a separate visit I ordered the Greek Hamburger wich was enough to keep me full the rest of the day! Yum! The prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount of food served. It is an amazing place to go with friends or your family. You can tell the owner and his family put all their effort, time and love into operating this restaurant.

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but I did not like this place. Maybe I had too high of an expectation after reading all these amazing reviews, but this place was not up to par. The service was great, but the food was utterly disgusting. I ordered the kabob special and the beef tasted like artificial meat (or very well chopped up sausage patties). It did not taste like beef AT ALL. Everything else was quite bland. The zucchini sticks looked and tasted like it was purchased from Costco (Smart and Final?) freezer aisle. My friend and I forced the food down with water because, well, we paid $20+ for it. Oh yeah, I almost fell flat on my ass because they decided to clean the floors and forgot to place the caution *wet* signs up. Sorry, never again.

I finally came to eat here to see if the all of the hype was true. Most of it is. Spanikopita was pretty good, a bit too greasy for my liking, but tasted great, light and flaky. The gyro meat was seasoned to perfection. The Greek fries are pretty cool, I liked them. I wasn't sure when I ordered them, but yea they are good. The tsatziki was right on, perfect. Pita was yum! The service, was pretty awesome, and who even calls people love anymore? I loved it. Very clean. The owner(?) I'm guessing was very kind to ask us before her turned up the volume on the TV for the president's speech as Egypt riots. (We are all sensitive to any upheaval to countries near our home lands). But, yea but!!! Why the hell are you serving canned dolma? You have so much going for you. The canned dolma took a star away from you. All in all, I'd recommend it.

This "hole in the wall" eat-in or take-out restaurant is a real hidden gem. The food was all fixed fresh, excellent beyond what you would ever expect for such a low price. The beef-lamb gyro was full of flavor, the tzaziki & veggies fresh and the pita was soft, hot, and fresh. We also had the spanikopita which as light, tangy and full of fresh spinach. However, we did find the felafel a bit overcooked and the tahini sauce a little bland for our taste. This place is definitely a find and we will be back. Gyro, salad, lemon rice, spanikopita, felafel, and iced tea split between the two of us for $18 ... you must be kidding .. what a deal and delicious to boot!

This place is excellent. I think that any good Greek restaurant can be best judged on how they do their lamb and theirs is great! I went for the combo kebab and gyro plate and it was all you could ask for in this dish. Their tzatziki went really great with everything. Great customer service and friendly place. Definitely going back. I like the casual atmosphere and unpretentious feel of the place. Definitely relaxed and not uptight. You order at the counter and they bring you your food.

Went there this afternoon with my mom and right away walking in we were greeted with a friendly hello. We order the daily special "gyro" choice of chicken or lamb. We both order the chicken with a side of hummus. Food was brought out with about five minutes and looked yummy! The sauce was placed to the side a plus! The chicken was cooked to perfection.. lean and tasty. Hummus and pita bread was also very good. The guy helping us had great customer service! Will be going back!!

My date wanted Greek food and I knew all you helpful Yelpers would have a good suggestion, so we met here around 6:30 for dinner. The place is small but not tiny, nice and bright inside. The youngish man at the counter was harried but friendly so we placed our orders and sat down to wait. I ordered the vegetarian combo plate. It came with two dolmades, a spanakopita, a plastic cup of tzatziki sauce, some pita bread, and a Greek salad. The spanakopita was large, warm, and delightfully flaky. The tzatziki sauce was creamy and tasted lovely. The pita bread was also warm and perfectly crisped but still soft. The dolmades weren't my favorite. The Greek salad was great; lots of onion slices, feta, crisp lettuce and cucumber, thick chunks of tomato, a few olives, bell pepper, and a big Greek pepper on the side. The dressing was a nice vinaigrette. My companion had the special, which was a pork pita. It came with tzatziki on the side and he said the pork was dry. We got an order of the Greek fries to top it all off based on the recommendations. They were basically the kind of crinkle cut fries you'd find at a baseball game sprinkled with feta, herbs, and lemon juice. The toppings were plentiful and they were good, but not something I'm gonna fantasize about for the next week. Sorry. There were several other people who came in while we were there and the guy working the counter struck me as very efficient. He kept up with the phones, bussed tables, served food and put out silverware, plus relayed new orders to the woman in the kitchen and handled take out orders, all without breaking stride. The tables were all spotless, as was the floor and counter, so he obviously finds the time to keep it scrupulously clean, too. I really wasn't sure what to expect so I'll tell you the place is very casual and is definitely more cafe than restaurant. Think Styrofoam cups and plastic ketchup packets. The prices are very cheap, the service was very good, and everything I ate was fresh and well prepared. We got a ton of food for under $20. UPDATE** Unfortunately I had to downgrade them after my dinner companion let me know he was up puking at 2am thanks to the pork pita. He expounded further saying the meat was all tough and by "dry", he meant "couldn't chew the giant pork cubes". He said he suspected it was yesterday's special, too. So if you go, you might wanna stay on the safe side and not order the pork. Unless you're bulimic.

This is my go to Greek place in town. The dinner special is enough food for two but I always put it down. The server is one of the coolest dudes around, he's always making rounds, making sure you are taken care of. Also, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. The grape leaf thingies are bomb, the gyros are bomb, the burgers are bomb. Don't skip out on this place.

They have expanded the menu since the last time I was there. Had the Dinner special that is offered from 5-8 pm. Definitely worth it: comes with the following: Pilaf rice, spanakopita, 2 dolma, fresh cooked fasolakia (green beans marinated in olive oil, tomatoe sauce and onion broth), Pita bread, tzatziki sauce (cucumber yogurt sauce) and your choice of soup of Salad. In addition, you choose Chicken Kabob or Gyro meat $12.75, or Lamb Kabob for $13.75 This dinner is delicious from begining to end, and well worth the price. After I devoured the Chicken dinner, I tried one of their Greek desserts: A shortbread cookie covered in powdered sugar. Needless to say I slept great that night. Every time I have been here the service has been top notch and the facility well maintained. I recommend this place all the time and people are never disappointed.

This is a great place to go if a gyro is what you are craving. I ordered a regular Beef Gyro plus Feta and was not disappointed. The Tzatziki sauce comes on the side so you can decide how much you want on it. I loved it so much though that I wanted more! The pita bread was nice and toasty but still fluffy and the meat was really tasty and tender. The portion was just right with no additional sides for $7. (I think the Feta should be standard on a regular gyro, but I didn't care too much to pay extra for it.) They also offered different variations of gyros as well, such as with Fried Potatoes, Sauteed Onions and Pepperoncinis. I would go back if I was in the area.

My husband and I decided to try this place after our last visit to Opa Opa! We were once again let down and vowed to never go there again.. This place is in an odd location, but from the service to the food, 5 stars! The waiter (owner?) was very helpful and a very nice guy. The place was super clean too..The food was nicely presented and tasted great. I appreciate a chef that takes time preparing the food and they definitely did..the meat in my chicken gyro was arranged oh so beautifully! Try the greek fries, gyros, baklava, and frappe...great food!

First time visiting this past week. I was very pleased with the food and service. There was plenty of food and it was fresh and delicious. We got Gyro's for lunch and they were wonderful. My 3 year old daughter loved the grilled cheese on pita.

A hidden Gem. Was looking for some top rated restaurants in the Arden area and came across this. Based on what other people reviewed about this, I couldn't resist. As I walked into the place an hour before closing, most tables were full. Very clean And tidy. The owner was working the register and bringing out the food, seemed like he was doing a hella of a good job. I was very reluctant to try the lamb kabob due to the fact that you have to cook it perfectly, my wife ordered the chicken kabob and she couldn't have been more satisfied. The lamb and chicken were cooked perfectly, soft and moist, the rice pilaf was one of the best I ever had. Will go back again when in the area.

Came here on a whim with a friend. Couldn't decide what to eat and wanted something different from what we normally eat. Arrived around 8-ish and they close at 9PM. I ordered the Taky's Gyro due to Yelper's tips, and he got the chicken kabob meal. The Gyro was delicious! Especially with the sauce. It had a few sticks of fries within it. The chicken kabob was dry and wasn't worth the cost in my opinion. My friend ended up enjoying my order more than their own! haha we know what else to get next time. The service was lovely though!

Ate here while on business in Sacramento. Ordered the chicken and beef gyro plate. It came with rice and salad. I specifically asked for no feta on my salad and got feta. I took my order to-go and the employee did offer to refill my iced tea before I left. That was nice. My lunch, tea, and a piece of baklava cost me about $18. I thought it was a bit pricey for lunch. Food was good, but not overwhelmingly good.

I've only had the soup and salad so my review is limited, but it was pretty disappointing. Ironically I just had the exact same thing at a south Lake Tahoe restaurant. That soup was very tasty with chunks of chicken, puréed rice, herb, and a slice of lemon floating in the soup. Here, the soup was just broth with rice & the presentation was lacking. Tasted ok but pretty mediocre overall. The salad consisted of iceberg lettuce with a couple of bland tomatoes, cucs, onions, some very oily dressing and a ton if feta, all crowded onto a teeny plate. Again, disappointing, especially compared to the Tahoe restaurant. The service, on the other hand, was great - super friendly guy taking orders and very fast. Wish my food experience were better.

I will not be coming back. I saw the good reviews and I was visiting Sacramento for the weekend and thought I would check it out. I really wish I had gone somewhere else. The food was overpriced and the hummus was horrible. I do live in LA and I admit I am spoiled by great food but I couldn't even choke it down and it is normally my favorite part of the meal. I had the chicken skewer meal with a salad. Nothing special. The chicken was dry and the salad came straight from a bag. Save your money and go somewhere else.

I ordered the lamb gyro and it was ginormous! I loved the yogurt sauce given with the dish, it was deliciously savory. I also would like to commend them for such awesome service. I tried this place on a whim after coming out of a bank in the same strip mall and realizing that my blood sugar was even lower than my bank balance. I've been there twice now, and had great experiences both times. The owner is courteous and friendly, making you feel welcome the moment you open the door and not neglecting you once your cash is in the register. We weren't really sure what to order and he was honest and helpful in response to our questions. If you're a female, I promise you'll get called "sweetheart" or something similar. He does it in an endearing, friendly way, not pervy or chauvinistic. Males will be addressed as "friend". It's hard not to like this guy. The food was fast, fresh, and all around awesome. Their pita and hummus are excellent as a starter and the Greek fries are crave-worthy. Be careful though, Greek food is very rich and it's easy to order more than you can eat. The gyro I ordered traveled home nicely and made delicious left overs the next day. I will absolutely be back. Great place for vegans to check out.

  • M T.

The gyro's are delicious. They are large, the meat is tender, and it fills you up. It's a bit pricey with a gyro, greek fries, and a soda coming in at just shy of $12, but that isn't going to stop me from going back a few times a year.

Cafe Europa is in a way hidden because they're in a strip mall setting and between two other restaurants. But no matter Cafe Europa shines. My husband and I both had the Gyros. I had the lamb, my husband the beef. Both were tasty and seasoned perfectly. Service is fast and friendly. Note: Some menu items are pre-seasoned or pre-marinaded. This isn't necessarily a negative. But if you don't like a particular seasoning or have an allergy to something it can limit your menu choices. For Gyros my husband now likes Cafe Europa...but I still prefer Petra, the Greek Restaurant downtown Sacramento for overall food quality and Greek menu options.

I and my husband shared the Mediterranean plate as an appetizer, and he had the lamb gyro sandwich, I had the lamb gyro and chicken kabob combination plate with rice. The staff were friendly. The food was good. We will definitely be coming back. I would like to try the greek fries next.

The ONLY place that does not burn the falafel. Everything is very flavorful and filling. I can not say enough about the falafel. Seriously the best in town. Not burnt, just a nice light golden colour. The consultancy is amazing the mix it's self is nice a moist unlike most places. NO chalky centers. SERIOUSLY AMAZING!!!!

The food portion can be little bit bigger especial ly on their greek salad. My gf ordered their salad with soup and found that the salad which was her main dish was on a side plate portion. I had the lamb gyro which was flavored well and portioned better. The pricing was fair and the server/host was very friendly. I would suggest getting their wraps but when it comes down to soup and salad I would probably not get it again not worth the price.

The Supreme Gyro was awesome! I mean...just about anything with french fries combined should be good, but this thing was great. Matched it up with some Greek fries, and I left happy!

Was in Sacramento for the day and decided to try this place out because it was close. The food tasted very authentic and the lamb gyro was amazing. The customer service was very friendly and I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the mood for Greek food. They have a lot of options and reasonably priced! My party and I split the gyro and large Greek salad- we left with our bellies full and happy :) the server was very friendly and attentive which made the experience that much better. The meat was to die for!

Drove the 6 miles or so just to eat here based on a craving for greek food and the good reviews. I love hummus, this was not the place for that. Small, little flavor except lemon. Not a good look for hummus. Fiancee got chicken gyros, decent, but nothing special. I got chicken kebobs. Good quality on the meat, but very small, lacked flavor. No idea why this place has so many stars, won't be back.

I love the hospitality every time I come here. The man who owns it remembers me, remembers my order and is always so kind. The gyro is to die for. Especially when you order it with French fries and feta cheese!

This place is sort of hidden, but I'm a bit glad because it never gets busy when I go. I LOVE this place & their Greek fries! I've tried other places Greek fries, but Cafe Europa has the best Greek fries in my opinion! I will never get tired of this place. I just hate how it is a 30 minute drive from my house ):

Very good customer service! My daughter gave some of her own money to tip and the waiter brought her a pink lemonade! Talk about service. The food arrived fast and everything was delicious. Definitely try the lamb gyro!

Overall, I'm a fan because the food was good, and the place was clean. So many of the Arden Arcade restaurants are dirty, not this one. I liked the greek fries!

Stopped by for lunch and had the beef gyro and Greek fries. The gyro was packed with plenty of meat and the bread was soft and yummy. First time I had Greek fries..they were also delicious. The Greek fries were sprinkled w/ feta cheese and herbs and topped off w/ some lemon Juice. Never thought fries and lemon juice would taste soo good! Definitely recommend this family owned eatery..will be going back soon!

Today was my first time eating here, and I have to say it was pretty good. I just moved to the Arden-Arcade area 2 weeks ago, and I have been trying all sorts of different restaurants near my apartment, and this was one of them. The customer service was outstanding. The man who took our orders and served us seemed to really care about his customers. He would come and check on us quite a bit to make sure that we were doing okay. Now for the food, it was good I have to say. I had the chicken gyros. It was a big portion. The pita was very good and the chicken that they use is tender and very tasty. This restaurant also has dinner and lunch specials everyday. I will be returning here soon! The prices are very reasonable as well. $6.50 for a gyros and add $2.00 for a big plate of fries.

Taky, the owner, and the gentleman you will likely first meet when you walk in the door, is an amazing guy and his staff cook awesome food. The restaurant is tucked away in the strip mall with a Pho place, Rickshaw's and Great Wall near Howe about Arden, it is certainly the bell of the ball as far as choice goes in it''s price range. If you're craving Mediterranean, it's the best around, I've been to other places in Sacramento, and the only ones that compare in taste, definitely do not in price. Fresh, light, healthy meal options, and if you are timid about trying the more traditional Greek options, the Gyro burger or the gyro fries is a favorite and have been consistently delicious. Get the Lamb Kabob, get the Falafel, the Gyro, finish with a piece of the house made Baklava or the rich butter cookies, and you'll have a meal to remember. Another note: Very quick service, the food is even better when you sit down to eat it, and they do take out and catering, large portions! Thank you so much Taky, we'll be seeing you again soon enough!

I am surprised this place has such amazing ratings. I got the falafel and it was not impressive at all and the pita did not taste fresh.

  • Sejin T.

I do not use yelp but I do know quality when I see it and experience it. Student over at CSUS and have been coming to this establishment for the past three years and it's honestly good stuff and this place truly deserves it's ratings and consistency. For all those who leave such negative reviews, seriously what a load of crap and no manners for a number of reasons: 1. Location/Interior Located between the Ford dealership and Chili's, this shopping center has great variety of options for food if you're on a lunch break, date at the movies or simply want to get away from the large crowd over at arden fair mall. Cafe Europa is tucked towards the back and the restaurant is always organized, the bathrooms are always clean (humongous plus because you know if the bathrooms are clean you can expect the rest of the place to be clean). The interior is simple and quaint which I really enjoy 2. Service From every worker working there to the owner (Taky) the service has always been spot on. You are greeted when you enter, you are welcomed when placing your order, you cannot help but feel at ease when someone comes over to ensure everything is to your satisfaction, and you feel loved when you leave. This sounds exaggerated to some, but this is honestly what I experience whenever I stop by and everyone I bring over always voice the same opinion. Taky is a very sociable guy and also soooooo polite. The lady in the kitchen brings out my food every now and then and she's always smiling and wants to make sure the food is spot on (which it is)! Recently Taky has hired two new workers for the front and both of them are great! They uphold the hospitality and efficiency Cafe Europa is known for. 3. Food Lastly, the food is always good here. I have literally tried everything here (fatass) at least twice. The chicken is moist and flavorful which is surprising to me because I honestly don't like chicken. Chicken is easily overcooked and dry when done wrong and Cafe Europa's is always to my liking whether it's the chicken pita or chicken kabob salad. The people mentioning how the chicken was bad, honestly are talking out of their asses. Same goes for the salads, the salads are always made to order and no complaints by me whatsoever. Large salad is humongous and cheap for the price. What I really enjoy is that they don't just fill it up with lettuce and skimp on the other stuff, it's well proportioned. If you sit close enough to the counter, you can see them preparing the salad every time. Definitely not prepackaged! The entrees, sandwiches, burgers, and pasta's are all great. I would recommend 10/10 taky gyro and chicken club for sandwiches. The Kyma for pasta's (Taky's mother own recipe). Greek cheeseburger with some greek fries for the burgers. Lastly the beef lamb gyro mixture and lamb kabob rice/salad for the entrees. The gyro meat is flavorful and goes great with anything, even on my vegetarian sandwiches! All in all this place is the best Greek restaurant in Sacramento and if you're reading this review, understand that while no place will be liked by all. Some people's opinion at the end of the day are worthless and shouldn't detract you from coming here and enjoying yourself.

I went here for the great reviews, but frankly I just wasn't overly impressed by the food. I got the lamb kabob plate, which was a solid amount of food with the meat, salad or fries, and pita bread. Yet, there are certainly other places in Sacramento that serve this dish better and are a little bit cleaner as well. Overall, I would certainly come back, but not a new favorite by any means.

I have finally found my favorite Greek place in Sacramento and it only took me 5 years. I've been twice and I've only had the Gyros Pita sandwich but oh my goodness is it the most delicious Gyros I've ever eaten. They load it with awesome lamb/beef Gyros meat and serve it with a side of the tastiest, creamiest Tzatziki I've ever had. The other day while I was eating here, somebody ordered a burger but without "that sauce stuff" and I thought to myself that he was missing out big time. Also of note are the Greek Fries. They are a fantastic and healthier (maybe) version of cheese fries. They always come out super crispy and covered in Feta and I always clean my plate. One of my new favorite lunch spots in Sac. If I do try something new next time I stop in, I want to check out the Gyros fries.

Been twice, it's not bad as in uneatable, but it's definitely not tasty nor good...people giving 4-5 stars have never been in Greece and/ or never had good food before! Mediterranean salad: iceberg salad, a slice or two of tomato, couple olives, a lot of peppers...really nothing special! We had the spinach appetisers (spanakopita) tasted like they were pre-fab and chicken/ lamb gyros with rice. Chicken was dry but had a nice lemon taste, lamb was mutton and rice was pre-boilt uncle ben's or so...Conclusion: pretty tasteless diner food.

Love this place! I have been eating here since it opened and I cannot say enough how it reminds me of home. Growing up in a Greek house it can be hard to find good Greek food. This place is Clean, the owner is very friendly and the food is amazing!

I love this place, it's simple, clean, and the food is just always fresh and good. I like the spaghetti with kyma because it tastes like home made, and my husband likes the chicken kabob and the baklava. I think anyone who doesn't like this place must just not like Greek food flavors, it all tasted spot-on all the times we've gone there.

OHHHHHHHHH SHHHHHHHHHHHH.... That's how I felt after every bite into this succulent gyro. I haven't had gyros in years and I was craving a lil some of that tzatziki and meat. Get the original lamb/beef gyro or the taky gyro! ohmmmggmalgjarjajgirojlajrkgjalkj It was loaded with meat, tomatoes, lettuce, and tzatziki. It was the right amount of everything!! I ordered without onions cause that's not me :( We also ordered some crinkle fries and those were good too! Omg, so freaking bomb. I've never felt this weak and vulnerable to a dish. I devoured it like no other. Just writing this review makes me want to bite into one right now.

Went last night for dinner with husband and 2 kids. It was 7:30 ish on a weeknight so there was only 1 table filled. The atmosphere leaves a little to be desired; it's very casual though and was good for the kids. The service was very good and super-friendly. The prices were not as competitive as I thought they would be; however, the portions were good and the food was delicious. We had the Greek fries, which were a total hit. My son got the chicken kabob with rice and pita bread (about $10 I think). Kind of a lot for an 8 year old; however, he loved it and had plenty left to get another lunch or dinner out of it. Daughter had her first lamb/beef gyro with the Greek salad and pita (around $9). She loved it and also had a good amount left over for lunch today (and she's a good eater). I had 2 kabobs - one chicken and one lamb. Both were delicious - very well seasoned and cooked nicely. I also got the Greek salad, which is very big, and the pita bread. And husband got a kabob/gyro combo. We were all really happy with our food and pita bread was delicious. We'd come again.

I figured 320 reviewers couldn't be wrong and they aren't. We were looking for a lunch place in the area, saw the reviews for Cafe Europa. Wow! Had the best beef and lamb gyro ever! Greek fries were made to order, perfectly seasoned. All of the veggies in the Greek Salad couldn't have been fresher. Prices were reasonable, making the overall value unbeatable. We'll be back!

Amazing! Great service... Great quality...and great quantity... Went here for lunch and dinner in one day. Got the Greek cheeseburger for lunch which was a pretty big size and super fresh and flavorful. Dinner had the lamb kabob dinner special which fed two very easily. And was super fresh... Will definitely go back!

How did I not know about this place sooner? I was having coffee with some friends and we were all getting hungry. My friend Pete said," lets go to my cousin's place down the street." We all agreed and went over. Pete being family, we let him order first and all got what he got. We all had the lamb gyro and greek fries. The gyro was so big and tasted great with the greek yogurt sauce dumped on top. It was loaded with lamb and lots of vegis. I thought this was because I came with a member of the family, but no, everybody eating in the place had massive portions of food. The greek fries are so good. They have lots of seasoning and feta cheese. i was the only one of 4 guys to eat it all. I will definitely be coming back to try everything on the menu over time. This place is really good. You know it's good when the owner is still eating the food he serves. He had lunch himself while we were finishing up. If you like greek food, this is the place to go.

I have to make another review bc this place is my favorite spot of all in Arden. I love their Greek food. The Greek fries are amazing, the gyros and chicken kabobs are mouth watering. The tiziki sauce pairs great with all the entrees we order. My girlfriend and I come here often when we have extra money. I know she would come here two to three times a week, and she got her family hooked on this place as well. The owner Taky is always helpful and pleasant to see. We love it here. Not too pricy, but you'll need 20-30$ if you want entrees for two. Highly recommend the chicken kabob entree. Takys gyro. Greek fries. Delicious!!

Got their Gyro and Spanokopita. The gyro had a twist on it where they put fries in it which was good, but I've found the lamb at Opa! Opa! to have better flavor.

From late March 2012 visit (yep, I'm clearing out drafts again): Came here with Dad while he was in town. I ordered the chicken kabob plate, which was quite good and a large portion of food. I found the lentil soup to be rather ehhh. The falafel was way too dry for my liking.

Came here with my boyfriend for lunch because we saw that this store is highly ranked on Yelp, and we were happy to discover that most of their food and the service here matched their Yelp rating :) Because we don't like falafels (which was their $5 daily rotating special), I ordered a regular lamb gyro, while my boyfriend ordered the potato stuffed lamb gyro. Based on the advice from the nice guy working there, we also ordered a full Greek fries to share instead of the drink/fries combo that's available with most items. The nice guy gave us the option to have our fries as an appetizer, and while the feta cheese and spices on top of the Greek fries were delicious, the fries themselves were not. They were on the fleshy and non-crispy side, which I normally don't mind, but they tasted like they were the frozen-type fries and not freshly made. Too bad, because the portion size was huge. The stuffed lamb gyro that my boyfriend got was generously filled with a bunch of toppings, but the fries that were stuffed inside were the same unappetizing fries as the ones we just ate. Oh well. My gyro was HUGE in portion size, with the thinly sliced and grilled lamb generously heaped and spilling out of the gyro bag. The sauce made the gyro taste even better, but I still couldn't finish it because the serving was so large. The guy working there was actually quite attentive for a fast-casual restaurant (where you pay at the counter before you get your food) and came over to see if we needed more sauce/water often. Overall, a great place for a quick lunch with tasty food and friendly service.

I have been meaning to write a review about this place for a while. I am in Sacramento once a month for business and I make it a point to come here to eat every time I am in town no matter what.. it is that good. It is a friendly environment with a happy vibe and amazing food. The Gyros are the biggest and best tasting I have ever had at any greek restaurant and I have been to hundreds because I love greek food. The Avgolemono Soup tasted like the owner uses his great grandmothers secret recipe, I cant describe what makes it so good but it just is. The owner is always there and he quality checks every plate to make sure you are eating what he would serve his own family. I have had everything on the menu and I love it all. The souvlaki is always juicy and full of flavor and comes straight off the grill. The greek fries are unique to Cafe Europa, I have not seen them anywhere. The Taky Gyro is a must try, it is a weapon best used when very hungry. This place needs to be on everyones list of places to eat in sacramento.

Love the service, food and quickness of food prep. The gyros are spot on and I will leave midtown just to come here even if Petra is just down the street. It doesn't hurt that some employees are easy on the eyes lol!!!! Howe bout Arden don't miss out!!!

During lunch today, I wanted to be able to walk from the training center and be back in time for an hour. I figured oh it's only a couple blocks away, it shouldn't be too bad. Okay it's freaking hot here. I'm wearing a tank, skinny jeans, and knee high boots. I'm sweating...like no other. Anyways, I digress, I yelped "salad" and this place popped up. I enter, it's not a huge place, but it's homey. The guy at the counter says "What'll it be love." Aww cute. I'm already in love. So I decided on the gyro sandwich with a side of greek fries and a diet coke. It came out in about 5 minutes which was perfect cause I only have an hour for lunch and it already took me 15 minutes to walk over (way too many stop lights). The guy, "Taky" who has a gryo named after him with fries, peppers and cheese on it...mmmmm....anyway, he asks if I want to refill my diet coke. That was super nice of him. I only took a sip so it's not like I needed anymore. I walked back to my training center and as I'm running out of time, I'm eating fries on the way back. The lemon and feta is a great addition on the fries. I ended up just having most of that instead of the gyro just due to the time constraint. I did get to take a few bites of the gyro and it hit the spot. The spot inside of me that wasn't sweating...though I'm pretty sure it would've been in this weather. They pack that gyro with deliciousicious meat. If I'm ever in a pinch here this week. I'm definitely going to go back.

This restaurant is clean and spacious for its size. Every time I've been there, I'm promptly greeted by friendly staff and told what the special is. On to the food: Beef/lamb gyro - get it! It's pretty sizable and full of delicious meat! Definitely slather the tzatziki sauce before each bite and enjoy the little hit of flavor it delivers. Btw - if my memory serves me right, the gyro is the lunch special on Tuesdays :D Definitely give this place a go - it's conveniently located right near Arden/Howe and DOES accept credit card haha.

Great daily lunch specials! So we tried to go to Buggy Whip-out of biz, then we tried Thai Chef House not open til 5pm so we turned around and tried Café Europa! The menu is pretty simple, sandwiches, plates with either rice or salad and sides. We tried the following: Gyro plate with rice: good portion of moist tasty gyro over buttery rice pilaf served with pita bread, lettuce and tomato. This was very good but I think the sandwiches are a better deal. Chicken Kabob with salad plate: A small skewer of breast meat maybe (4oz) over a big plate of greek salad. The chicken was just ok for me. The breast meat was a little dry they should have marinated it in chicken stock or something. The salad was yum! Cold crisp lettuce, cucumber slices, tomato, olives and lots of feta cheese. I would not order this again as the portion was too small for me. Greek fries: French fries covered in Feta spices and herbs pretty tasty if you like feta Fried Zucchini: these tasted frozen ok, but we wouldn't order them again. Overall I think this place is probably 3.5 stars if your a fan of feta cheese you will love this place! I was disappointed in the small portion on the chicken kabob plate compared to the gyro plate, we will try the sandwiches next time.

If you find a Greek place in Sacramento, you know that it had BETTER be good. Sacramento has a huge (along with wealthy and powerful) Greek community, so if you're flying the flag of Greek cuisine in the 916 you'd better be great or be ready to shut down. There's just too much competition for mediocre Greek food to survive. Cafe Europa is a simple place in a busy anonymous strip mall on Howe Avenue. The place has pretty regular lunch traffic with an obvious group of regulars, including plenty of native speakers. The owner/manager took our orders and was exceedingly friendly & accommodating. All of these things are good signs. I had the gyro which came with fries INSIDE, something I haven't seen in years since I was buying "Grecs" from streetside vendors in Paris. It brought back some memories, let me tell you. The food was excellent, and though I've probably had better gyros in my life, I certainly couldn't name when or where.

So, as I'm writing this (31st review for Europa), I note that there are only 3, 4, and 5 star reviews so far. I think that is interesting. Around 30 reviews, you'd expect at least someone would have hated it, but not the case. And I can't say I'm surprised. I happened by here for lunch. Was really craving a gyro and their neon sign caught my eye. I wasn't sure if I should trust the place...it is in a crappy strip mall hidden behind the "Howe 'Bout Arden" center, which is also a crappy strip mall. My warning system said, "No! Don't trust! It is almost next door to a pet store!" But, I took a risk. And now I'm really glad I did. Here's what stood out for me: - SPOTLESS! I love a clean restaurant. - NICE PEOPLE! The guy who runs it and his dad (?) were both really pleasant. - GREAT GYRO! Full of meat; good flavor; fresh pita. So, don't let the location fool you. This is a great spot for a gyro, and many other things on the menu look good as well. Can't wait to go back and try the kabobs.

I am glad to have found reviews for Cafe Europa on Yelp. (I would never have guessed that they were the same business in the mall.) I didn't really give it the time of day then, mostly because my experience with gyros in general has been ho-hum. ...but things have changed. I dream of the beef gyro. Cafe Europa's beef gyros are very, very good. First, they taste super fresh. Second, the meat (love the beef) is plentiful and tender. There's a good amount of lettuce and onion. Finally, the sauce. Gosh, I don't even like Tzatziki sauce and I loved their sauce. I don't like cucumbers, but the sauce is not too cucumber-y. It's just right. The greek fries are delicious, nice combo of ingredients. The price for a gyro is not too bad. Cafe Europa's beef gyros have earned a place in my gluttonous dreams.Cheers, and happy chowing!

I hit the jackpot on this place when I came in for a solo dinner after work. It's tucked behind the Nordstrom Rack center. After eating here, I knew I had to write a review because this place is so phenomenal, and I want them to stay forever. (A little worried here, because at 6pm there were only about 12 cars in the entire plaza parking lot) The person behind the register was extremely personable and helpful-- I asked him what the most popular items were, and he said it was the gyros and the kabobs. Cafe Europa also has a few weekday specials... on Thursday the Chicken Kabobs were only 5.25! There is also a happy hour special too :) I ordered the Supreme Gyros [beef] and it was simply divine. It was loaded with fresh veggies, greek fries, and beef. The pita was warm... yummm. The prices are accurate, and the food is straight to the point. Atmosphere was clean and cozy. I intend on making this place my haunt until I move back to the bay. **There is also an extensive menu I'd like to try, including the Burger and other various sandwiches

You know how you go back to a restaurant you like and notice how the entrees keep getting smaller? I have the opposite going on with Café Europa. Every time I go I'm amazed at how big my gyro is and how much deliciousness is packed into it. I've had a lot of gyros in this town and Café Europa's are the best. Not only are they huge but they are freaking amazing. I can't vouch for the chicken since I've never tried it but the beef is so juicy and flavorful. I suffer from cravings. I highly recommend Taky's gyro. It's like a regular gyro, but with sautéed onions, pepperoncinis, crinkle-cut french fries and American cheese. Don't be put off by the cheese. The flavor combination of this gryo is ridiculously good. Try it. Recently, I ordered the hummus and pita appetizer. The pita bread is fluffy and the perfect balance between thick and thin, cut up into a bunch of two-bite sized triangles. The hummus was creamy and tasted fresh, it had a wonderful texture and flavor. I especially liked the drizzle of olive oil on top. The falafel I ordered was the first time I had ever tried falafel. It was good. I didn't think it was crazy good like the gyros. It seemed a bit dry to me but I'm not familiar with how it's supposed to be. The tahini sauce it came with was wonderful though and the dryness problem was fixed when I dipped the falafel bits in it. Tzatziki. O.M.G. I could eat a whole bowl of their tzatziki. It's such a wonderful condiment. It's the perfect thing to cool down the slight spiciness from the pepperoncinis. And it's tasty in it's own right. I wonder if I could order a tub of it to take home. I'll ask next time I'm there. Their Greek fries are nice. I love the feta they use. The fries are crinkle-cut like the kind you buy frozen and reheat at home, but they're tasty all the same. One time I ordered the lamb kabob off the lunch specials. I was surprised by how much stuff it came with! I got a choice of avgolemeno (chicken, rice and lemon) soup or salad. I ordered the soup since I've never had it before. It was kind of like a refreshing chicken noodle. The lemon really brightens it up. I also got a large bed of rice for my kabob to sit on. Kind of a lot of rice, actually. Maybe too much rice. But it was good. It wasn't plain at all. I think it may have been cooked with chicken stock or something because it had a very savory quality to it. I got some green beans with some kind tomato based sauce on them. I liked the sauce but it wasn't all that special. It also came with dolmades which were very tasty but I don't think I've ever had dolmades that I didn't like. It came with small spanakopita which was savory and had just the right amount of feta. And finally, the lamb itself. It was perfectly cooked and definitely not dry which is hard to do with lamb. It was marinated with Greek spices but it wasn't overwelming. A bit chewy but that's just how lamb stew meat usually it. Tasty. I ended up with an awful lot of food for very little money. Service is always excellent. The guy who works there (I think his name is Taky, of the Taky's gyro fame) is super nice and always accommodating when I ask for extra, extra tzatziki. The place is almost always empty when I go there, which is often. This concerns me greatly. I think the most people I ever seen at one time here was five, including me and my boyfriend. Everyone should go there and eat gryos. Everyone.

We went here not expecting much, but I'm sad to say that I sorta like this place more than Petra. I know! It's sorta crazy but this place has it's pro's and con's. First off we saw a sign for Cafe Europa with an arrow pointing to the left. The actual restaurant is near the pet store. It was empty when we got there and no one ever walked in while we were eating. Walking into an empty restaurant says a lot in my opinion, but I was wrong. Didn't know what I wanted so I ordered the Supreme Beef Pita. It had mostly everything in it like Petra's pita: Tomatoes, fries, lettuce, onions. We also ordered Greek fries and Baklava. The Greek fries are the best! It has some sort of seasoning, lemon, herbs, and feta. It is sooo great, better than the Petra fries... Sorry! :( The feta here were slightly melted compared to Petra's and I just love the added lemon. The Baklava wasn't as good as Petra's though. It was okay, but I think if it was fresh it would've been awesome. Keeping it in the frige made it hard. I don't blame them for trying to keep it refrigerated, but it's too bad it ruined it's texture and taste. The pitas were really great. They give you a lot of meat and you almost feel overwhelmed by all the stuff in it. I ended up eating the stuff falling out and making it slimmer. How am I going to complain about too much meat!? The service is very attentive and nice. He gave us refills and asked us how everything was. No complaints there. I would definitely go back here again. I love how it's around the arden area, because it tends to be just fast food and burger joints. It's too bad that the restaurant is hidden because I think people would go here more. Petra is very modern, in midtown, and open late. I think that's why people dig it so much. This place is just as great for their pitas and greek fries. Both places have small differences but are both great. I think people should spread the word about this place!

This is a hidden gem close to Sac State. The food is fresh and delicious and the service is very friendly. The is the best Greek food I have had in years. The tadziki was delicious, the spanakopita fresh, and the gyros are to die for. Don't pass this place by!

Started off with Avgolemono soup. Probably the best that I have had. Got the combo kabab and gyro plate. Gyro was nicely seasoned and tender. Kabab was flavored well. I have had it where the lamb was ground up and then formed into cylinders. I prefer it that way but they made it work with the way they prepared it. My only complaint was the taste of the tap water was not very good. I do not know if it was because it was being served from a plastic cup or if the water was just unfiltered tap. As good as the food was the highlight was the server/cashier. This guy was fantastic. He could teach a class on customer service.

In only two years after my first introduction, gyros has shot up the list as a top 5 food and I have only been to 3 gyro places. 1. Sam's 2. Park Gyro 3. Cafe Europa I don't want to get into all that cliche hogwash about the third time being the charm because it wasn't. Coincidentally, Cafe Europa was the best gyro I've ever eaten at and I must thank Crystal L. for reviewing it and also my own eyes for seeing it on my feed. She is definitely heaven bound for not only reviewing it, but giving it 5 stars. Located next to the Nordstrom Rack, I was very graciously greeted. If you swivel your head to the right upon walking in, you will see a portrait of Athena, the goddess of wisdom. Please pay your respects as to not anger the gods as the owner does himself. He is a most gracious host, embracing the concept of hospitality. A very kind soul, he took our order, make recommendations and was very genuine. I ordered the supreme gyro while my girlfriend ordered the chicken plate. When he brought the plates out, I was very impressed. My gyro was stuffed to a point where I scanned for the best possible angle to chomp. The supreme gyro is unique in that there are greek fries in it. It is french fries with feta. I love french fries so it was the perfect combination. The beef was so tender and savory and coupled with the tziki sauce, was delicious. You can mix ketchup and tziki together and the alchemy of that blend is also good. My girl got the chicken rice plate. The chicken was good, however, nowhere near as good as the beef. The rice was the only thing where I might have a problem. It was too grainy and too loose...i don't like that type of rice. My girlfriend said it was good, but would only give it 3 stars. I must also note that today was the start of her cycle and that she was cramping and being kind of a grouch. That alone can detract from enjoyment of a meal, so I am nullifying her rating, muting her input for today. As a result, 5 stars. In his last gesture of good faith, the owner offered to fill me up on my pepsi. May the fates decree him a prosperous life, my friend.

Amazing Food! Always fresh and my husband and I drive a long distance to get there but it is worth every mile! There is a young man who seems to always be working,I believe he is family and he is a treasure! So fast, professional and very friendly this restaurant is blessed to have him. Thanks Cafe Europa for being the best in California

Went to this place 2 times. Great place to satisfy your hunger. One gyro may not do it for you if you're a big, burly man unlike myself, but add some greek fries and you'll be good to go. The guy at the counter is really nice and my girlfriend says he's cute so I guess that's a plus :\. He kindly gave us the discounted special when we asked for the gyros. He could have been an ass and made us pay full price, but he didn't so I was happy! The place lives up to it's name, and is more of a cafe setting. It's quaint, a little hidden, and just right for a nice quick lunch or having food to go. Perfect driving food!

I visited Cafe Europa after seeing it a few times on my way to the SalonCentric a few doors down. After reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try. I think I was a Greek in my last life. Sadly, I am not even 1% but there is nothing I love more than a good Gyro! I ordered the supreme gyro but failed to notice the "fried potatoes" aka french fries. So I was surprised to see them in between the meat and veggies. I would probably ask for them on the side had I known. The avogolemono (spelling may be incorrect) soup was slightly watery in comparison to others I have tried but just as tasty. I will definitely be return to satisfy my Greek cravings. Besides the delicious food, the service was top notch and it was great to see the lunchtime crowd was full of regulars who the man behind the counter (I will assume is the manager) knew by name and they all had their own designated seats. I love to see a local Mom & Pop shop thriving!

I can't find a reason not to agree with all the other 5-star reviews I've read about Cafe Europa. The only issue was there is only one way in/out of the location and if you blink you'll drive right past it and will have to hook a U to get back (tip: it's worth it!). FYI, Cafe Europa is in-between the "How 'Bout Arden" Center and the Ford dealership We'd never been, but since we had a Groupon 1/2 off coupon, we decided to take the plunge. The place is tidy and clean and on the night we went, there was a baseball game on the TV, so it was an entertaining and tasty night out - (yay)! I ordered a bowl of the Avoglomeno soup and had the Gyro Supreme; hubby ordered the Beef Gyros and Lamb Kabob w/Salad. Wow, how yummy. Fresh, tasty and served up nice and hot. While I should have accepted the offer of extra lemon for the soup, as I love the tartness, the soup was still very satisfying. We've been satisfying our cravings for Greek by going to Daphne's, but have thankfully found another supplier! The service was great; you walk in, place order at the counter and the staff will bring everything out to you. Definitely will find myself venturing back there soon, as their Greek burger looks divine!

This was our first time!!! Sooooo yummy!! We had Gyro meat, hummus and pita bread....just needed a snack and it was delicious! The owner is super friendly....great service. Super casual place....great for lunch or dinner!! Loved it :)

Their Lamb gyro needs work, very chewy meat and has no similarity to what I ate in NYC. And then I had a bite of the beef gyro, and it's a whole lot better than their Lamb!! I think the lamb meat they use here is different from the east coast. The lamb they use in New York has 100x more flavor and tenderness. Go with the beef! Also, the greek fries are tasty as well. Very nice man, great service. I'll be back soon for a beef gyro. Great success!

I love Greek food and this place has hit the spot for me!! I love it and I can't wait to go back. The portions are generous as well as the reasonable prices. The service is always great as well as the food... I've never had a bad experience here.

This is a great little Greek restaurant. Incredibly friendly service. Very good food. Great prices. It is right by the Century Theaters and is great for a quick bite before the movies. I came here with a group one time and they were terrific.

  • Phee Y.

Not sure why all the great reviews. The day and time we went the food was horrible. Meat tasted like it went bad. Salad/veges were not fresh, overall really bad experience. Maybe this is the standard for the Sacramento area. But definitely does not even compare to our other greek/kabob experiences. Should have taken some pictures. Uggh....

  • T D.

Went with a friend to get the gyros many have raved about. They serve 4-5 different versions of gyros with either chicken or beef, along with Kebab and other delights. I give them 4 stars for the crinkle cut french fry stuffed Gyros, they were moist and tasty. I do though have to give 3 stars to our server. He was very polite and willing to serve, but apparently we caught him during an allergy attack or a cold. Please note Mr. Server, not a great idea to wipe your face and nose with your hand while dealing with food and eating utensils, especially in front of the customers. BTW, you have to look for this place, it is tucked into one of those scary strip mall places off of Howe, just behind Nordy's Rack. Maybe it's just me, but those strip malls have never felt inviting.

  • Vince R.

What a nice Yelp surprise! Both Lamb and Chicken Kabobs were cooked and seasoned to perfection. Very reasonable as well.

  • Pamela N.

Almost lost within the ghost-town of a mini strip mall behind the Rack, I found this little place and stopped in for lunch. The first thing I notice was how incredibly clean this place was. Super cute but simple interior design. The service was very friendly and attentive without being pushy and in your space. It appeared to be run by a father and son team (not sure, but appeared to be so), support our locals! I ordered a $7 vegi. combo, even though I am not a vegetarian, my meal was completely satisfying. It was fresh, well put together, and tasty.... A+ for our little piece of Greece Keep up the good work and keep it clean :)

  • Walter G.

For a Gyro, you can not beat this place. Tuesday lunch special $5. I miss Dino's it was much closer to my house. Not a fancy place behind the theaters near Great Wall Mongolian BBQ. A very reasonable place but I have not tried the diner options. Although I miss Dino and his place, I think the meat is leaner at Cafe Europa. A hidden gem worth looking for if you are a Gyro addict. The Greek Triangle Cafe Europa, Opa! Opa!, and the Greek Village Inn. Nice options for Greek in Sacramento, but Cafe Europa is the easiest on the Wallet. Groupons really help at the other two places.

The food was delicious. The owner was so incredibly friendly. The lentil soup was one of the best soups I have had. There is nothing fancy about the interior but the owner and food make up for it. I've been several times and I have never been disappointed. It's a great place for a healthy lunch or if you are dining alone. They also have different lunch specials every day!

  • Mandeep D.

Great food! Great service! Great options! What more can u ask for? I've been here a few times now as its become my go-to dinner spot before checking out a movie next door at the theater. Taky's gyro is pretty amazing. But if you're not quite sure what to get, go ahead and ask taky himself...he's great with interacting with customers and finding what you'll like the most. Oh ya, and you gotta try the greek fries...ah-mazing!

Small place. Super clean though. Order at the counter but you still get table service. We went when it was slow. The service was super friendly and the food was good. Had a nice experience and would come back again.

Excellent chicken gyros, the best tatziki I have had. The chicken soup (sorry can't remember the actual name) was silky and fresh. I will be back - with friends.

I really have no complaints at all. The food was good reasonably priced. Me and a friend both ordered the filafial was really good. My kids split the chicken kabob plate and were both full with leftovers to spare and they are good eaters. The man how served us was kind and polite and very attentive. Will be going back again!

The food here is amazing and the service is outstanding! I always get the chicken kabob w/salad and I'm never disappointed. They are very consistent and the quality is great! I also order a side of fries and fried zucchini which are delicious! Who would think that a Greek restaurant would have such delicious fries?! The owner is always really friendly and inviting.

Pros: Very nice establishment. Very clean interior, tzatziki (cucumber yogurt) is killer!, good customer serivce and good food. Located in the Howe bout Arden shopping center and right next to two chinese resturaunts and a tattoo parlor; odd but dynamic. Cons: The menue is pricey-er than other greek/ middle eastern resturaunts in the area. Said menue is also smaller than in other resturaunts. Also, I felt a bit cheated when I ordered a chicken kabob and seen roughly 4 or 5 very small peices of chicken on my plate :( and the hummus is lacking something, either freshness, or salt, or love but definitely lacking. Overall a good place for lunch.

Thanks to my fellow Yelpers for alerting me about this fine establishment! After reading all the great reviews I couldn't wait to check this place out, so I swung by after work this Thursday and was not disappointed. First of all, let me say that the owner is a super nice guy. I was ordering food to go and he gave me some ice water (it was hot out), I didn't even have to ask for it! While I was waiting we chatted about the history of the place and about San Diego (he went to SDSU and I'm from SD). A patron of the place figured out that I was a newb while I was talking with the owner and he gave me some suggestions about the food (apparently the club is to die for). Ok, enough with my jibber-jabber...on with the food. I ordered two chicken gyros and one chicken kabob...they were both fantastic!! Great flavor, perfectly seasoned, and the taziki was very tasty! The food was just simple, clean, and very fresh tasting...I can't wait to go back to try some more stuff! *The only knock is the location/decor...not the easiest place to get in/out of.

One of my favorite greek restaurants. Really friendly service and really reasonable for what you get. I wish I lived closer!

Try the beef gyro, it's delicious! The owner, Taky, is ALL about customer service! At my first time visit, he was very thorough explaining the menu and patient with me as I described exactly what I needed. My friend was on a strict diet, and Taky was able to make it with no problem. They closed down the 3 Daphne's in Sacramento but I no longer miss it since I have now found this spot!!

  • Heike S.

We heard great reviews about this place, and decieded to give it a chance (after reading how much people loved it here on Yelp) It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. Our falafel was dry, and the gyros were little more that pita bread with meat inside. I see lots of good reviews, but I I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for GOOD greek food. It's quick, and it is probably acceptable as american-greek.

  • Jair F.

Best place for greek food in sacramento. The gyros and the soups are the items to get. I have been alot of the few greek places in sac and cafe europa has the best pita bread ever. Plus the meat is very tasty. However there is something for everyone, the menu has lots of variety. They even have plenty for those who prefer vegitarian food. I highly recommmend trying this place.

    (5)
  • T K.

I had the gyro with lamb/beef and fries. It was so good. It had plenty of meat on it. If you want some good food this is the place to go. They also have great dinner specials.

  • Pag W.

Ummmm....I just asked them to add the sauteed peppercinis and onions on the chicken kabob sandwich and also added crumbled feta to it....It is probably the most amazing food experience of my life. The peppercinis just add a small punch to it and the heat from the peppers and onions slightly melts the feta....I really didn't think it could get better. I love being wrong sometimes.

  • Margaret H.

Definitely recommended. We had excellent lentil soup, outstanding Greek salad, yummy tzatziki and pita squares, delicious chicken and lamb kabobs, and very good gyros. The gyros special is very generous in size, the kabobs less so. The restaurant is extremely casual, has great parking, and the service is very friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back.

The Greek fries (with feta) are savory! Definitely my favorite item on the menu! My bf and I have eaten here twice. We're impressed by almost everything we've tried. The owner of the restaurant is very warm and friendly. The price isn't bad. The portions are filling.

    (4)
  • Heidi T.

I've ordered to go twice and the food was great both times. From the looks of the small plaza where it's located doesn't look too welcoming but inside it's a cute, clean little restaurant with nice staff. Opa Opa still is my #1 Greek spot but this is a rather close second.

  • Day A.

This place is really good compared to a lot of other Greek restaurants I've been to. My bf and I got the Supreme Gyros with beef, which turned out to be really flavorful. We also got Greek fries which was just french fries topped with feta cheese. I didnt think I would like the food but it was very yummy. The portions were really generous too and it cost about ~$19. I've been to this place about a handful of times and I think I will be returning. Also, they have very friendly staff and the restaurant is always clean.

    (4)
  • Melissa D.

The gyros here are so succulent and savory. I think they're the best I've ever had. I get the gyro plate, it comes with salad and pita. The veggies are so fresh and I like the simple dressing. The tzatziki is sooo good here. It has a thicker consistency than I've seen at other places but it has the most perfect amount of garlic in it. I take my time and add gyro to a pita and smooth on some of that great sauce and it's just unbelievable! The salad provides a great little break and palate cleanser between each delicious bite of gyro/pita/tzatziki.

    (5)
  • Eric F.

Incredible spanikopita, tasty meats and salads, exactly what you want in a hole-in the-wall Greek place. I took off a star for the pretty lame decor with giant TV (usually blaring baseball games) and the majorly dingy strip mall where it's located but the food almost makes up for the surroundings!

    (4)
  • James B.

You order your meal at the counter then choose your table, which is then set for you. Food and drink are delivered to your table, according to the course. The beef Gyro was a wonderful meal by itself and as good as any that I had while living in Europe. The Baklava is second to none. If you have a craving for a gyro, then this is a good place to start. As this is a family business the service is fast, friendly, attentive and even engaging. Even during the busy lunch hour the place was very clean (including the bathrooms). I'll definitely return.

    (4)
  • Adam G.

Having not eaten a lot of Greek food I do not have a lot to compare to. But, I know what I like and really enjoyed the food at Cafe Europa. The decor is simple and straight forward and the place is very clean. The guy at the counter is either the owner or the best employee ever. He explained the items in detail and made recommendations that really helped the ordering process. Very friendly service. I ordered the supreme gyro w/ beef and Greek fries. My wife ordered the gyro special with a mixture of lamb and beef and it came with soup, pita bread, rice pilaf, dolmades and spanakopita (a lot of stuff) After ordering it took only about 10 minutes for our food to come out. We also got falafels for our daughter. Yes, it was a lot of food and we shared. Everything tasted very fresh and overall excellent. Price? That long list above was less than $30 before tip. My only recommendation would to to ditch the styrofoam cups. A case of plastic tumblers from a restaurant supply store would cost about as much as 2 cases of styrofoam cups and can be used for many years to come. Oh, and better for the environment to I guess. Will be back for more.

I can't say enough about this place. It's just the kind of hole-in-the-wall place that I like. I saw all of the rave reviews here so I went in last night around 8:00 PM. They were about to close and I was the only person in the place and they treated me like a KING. I got great service, the food was out quickly, and tasted fantastic. I had the Greek fries, Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), and a beef gyro / lamb kabob plate. They have heaping portions and everything was delicious. I told the owner 'I rate restaurants on if I will come back and how soon.' I told him that I would be back Thursday night and I will be there. Great place!!

  • Jonnie K.

I WILL BE BACK.I love most Mediterranean foods and this one has great prices for very good food. I didn't care for the over done rice- I suspect it's not made every day. The cooked veg was not very good either. BUT... The salad was outstanding, the lamb was nicely done and the Gyros were delicious! The people were fantastic and the seating area comfortable. The Tzatziki could only be better if it came in a bottomless bowl!

  • TurangaLeela H.

rating 1:: Falafel sandwich - not goot! The falafels were hard, like they had rock hard shells and not flavorful. rating 4:: Beef Gyro Sandwich- DELICIOUS!! So glad I got this, I usually always do a chicken kabob and decided to do something different and this was devine. The meat was soo flavorful, tender and awesome. I will definately come back to get one of these again. Unfortunately wont be comming back with my vegiterreans friends because it just wasnt good for them. Also one other dissapointment-- Hummus doesnt come with anything! What the heck, you have to order it as a side for anything you get....not cool. So considering the falafel was a 1 rating and the gyro a 4 (and no hummus as a staple) the place is gettin a 3.

  • J-Me N.

Lots of positive feedback... Let's see... Will write a review. Everybody was right on the money!!! The service was prompt and friendly. The beef gyro was delicious. The portions were hearty and the freshness was a pleasant surprise. Perfectly clean place to fill your tank with a very fresh, very tasty ethnic Greek perfection!!!! I highly reccommend to anyone that wants a quick and healthy bite to eat and not wanting to eat lard passed off as food through a drive-poo window!

I just wanted to add that in addition to superb gyros they have other great food that we have tried. We love the chicken club that Taky whipped up, it is in a pita and has grilled onions and pepperoncini's in it!!! I have tried the kabob and it is great but still prefer gyros over them. We have also now tried the Monday special: $5 greek cheeseburgers!!! These are so delicious and have a big hamburger patty grilled with american cheese on it stuffed into a pita with lettuce, tomato and onions and tzatziki on the side. I always order extra Tzatziki because they make it best at Cafe Europa. Taky always makes it a wonderful dining experience and they always seem to recognize us when we come back and our kids love it so much that our daughter decided she wants to have her birthday dinner at Cafe Europa instead of Buca di Beppo!!!

My wife and I went there for lunch today. The place was spotless. Our host (the owner) was attentive, friendly and efficient. We had the Chicken Kabobs (very moist and lightly marinated), rice pilaf and Iced tea. All excellent. We will be back.

The hubby and I both work downtown and on the weekends we like to try out some eateries closer to home. We just tried Cafe Europa today and it will go in the rotation for sure. Hubby had the chicken gyro and I had the lamb. Both were very good-- although I think the chicken was a little tastier. The best part was the pita-- warm, fresh and a little crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.. mmmm... The flavors were very nice together.

Yummy well-priced menu. Definitely will go back for lunch. I am in agreement with everyone that the food is very fresh, and I LOVE it when the gyro has more meat than veggies!

Greek fries were very good! Fries with feta cheese, oregano, and lemon juice. The Gyro is a notch above the typical Kronos gyros joint you'd find in the mall. The owners/staff are very friendly as well.

This place is the BEST! I food is incredibly fresh and impeccably prepared. They serve the best gyros I've ever had and you MUST try the Greek fries! The first time I visited I saw some menu items I'd never heard of and the owner graciously explained them to me, never once making me feel silly. I go there regularly now and always bring a new friend. Even my friends who aren't sure about Greek food fall in love! The restaurant is always spotless, the service efficient and the environment very welcoming.

I've only had the traditional gyro pita, but it is fantastic! A solid gyro!!! The staff is friendly and efficient, and the food is consistent! The gyro meat is seasoned perfectly, moist, and hot. The pita bread is toasted perfectly and the tzaziki sauce is cool and cucumber-y. Must try when in need of a GREAT gyro!

I've been meaning to review this Cafe for some time since my first visit but just got around to it today because I'm planing to go there for lunch. I've only been there twice, over a couple of months time, but the owner greeted me like he knew me on my second time for lunch. Both times I had the Gyro with the side of tzatziki......Excellent! The second time I ordered a full lunch with salad and Greek fies. Salad was fine, nothing special, but as for the Greek fries, I'll pass next time. They were just not much more than Big Mac French fries with some feta and herbs sprinkled over the top. The place has a nice, clean, basic atmosphere and great service. I think I'll go tor the kabobs today.

I came here for lunch and ordered the lamb kabob over rice to go. The gentleman who took my order was very attentive, informative, and social. He also grabbed me a glass over ice water for while I waited. The food was way better than I expected. Full of flavor and nice sized portions. I will definitely stop by again.

Cafe Eurpoa was recommended to me and my lady by a classmate of mine, and I am SOO glad we went ahead and tried it. The food is DELICIOUS. My lady ordered a beef gyro and I ordered the supreme beef gyro. Sooo tasty. Both had generous portions of meat, and the feta cheese and fries inside mine were pleasantly good. Fresh tomatoes and lettuce, and tzatziki sauce. We also ordered the soup, I forget the name, but its a chicken rice with lemon, and it too was delicious. This place has that ma and pop feel and the service was EXCELLENT! We will most definitely be back to this place again in the future. Reasonably priced too!

I'm always checking out Greek restaurants in town. I'm kicking myself for not trying this place sooner! Nice, casual place with some Greek decor and TV's. I ordered the chicken supreme gyro. Along with the chicken, it had feta, crinkle cut fries and tomatoes. It came with tzatziki sauce on the side. I also ordered a piece of their baklava. My total came out to a little over $10, no drink (I had water). The gyro was fairly good sized and delicious! I dabbed the tzatziki sauce on it, yummy! The chicken was the best part of the gyro. The baklava was excellent and they even heated it a bit. It was wonderfully moist. This place has been around for a little over a year and the owner is Greek. I'm telling you, Sacramento, if you want the best Greek food in town, you definitely have to go somewhere that's run by someone who is Greek. This place was out of this world, I'll be going again sometime soon.

My bf has been raving about this place and really wanted to come here. So I made a brief call to make sure they had veggie options (they did), we headed over here. A friendly gentleman greeted us in the almost empty restaurant (there was a kid ordering to go there) and I looked at the menu. They had cheeseburgers, gyros, and a small veggie section. I went with the veggie combination and he went with a beef/lamb gyro. The food came quickly and I was pleasantly surprised. The greek salad was fresh and tasty. With tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, lettuce, yummy olives, yummy feta cheese and a red wine vinaigrette. The spanokopita was okay. To be honest I'm just not a huge fan of filo-type pastries. The pita bread was good with the tzaziki sauce and the dolmades were great! For 6.50 I thought it was a pretty good deal. My guy loves their gyros and he liked the fries in it. There's just something about small family run hole in the walls that makes me really want to patronize them. Gotta support the American dream!

Service is awesome. Price is reasonable for the quality. Got the lamb plate that came with a serving of pita. The pita was so good. Perfectly toasted. The lamb was a little overcooked and I wish there was a little more meat but every bite was delicious.

I can't decide what was better, the food or the service. Good problem to have when you're a diner at a restaurant. My wife and I ate there for lunch last week for the first time. We both had the beef gyro and left very satisfied. Perfect amount of food and great price. The owner, Taki, provided us with great service and great food. We will definitely be back for more. There are several other items on the menu that we can't wait to try.

Yum... yum... yum!!! Thanks to all of the previous reviewers who gave this place such good ratings. I noticed the good reviews and decided I should try this place out. I loves me a good gyro and I am always looking for new Greek restaurants. I got a chicken gyro and a greek salad. Not only was the food delicious but it was super fresh. The lettuce and onions were really crisp and the tomatoes literally tasted like they were straight off of the vine. They were beautifully red and tasted as good as they looked. There was one guy working the register and delivering food and he was very attentive. I think it may have been the best service I have ever had. Some people may have thought he was checking in with us to much. But he had a nice personality and actually seemed like he cared whether or not we were happy. So he didn't bug us at all. I suggest this place for anyone. It's even good for people who are not in to the Greek selections because they had burgers and fries that looked delicious, so there is something for everybody.

My friend and I went to this little mini mall just off Arden last night in search of a Morroccan restaurant that turned out to be closed. Fortunately, the Cafe Europa looked inviting, so we decided to try it out instead. The place was very small, but neat and tidy. They had a full menu, which was an unusual mixture of American and Greek food, even though you ordered at the counter. My friend and I shared a Mediterranean plate, which was a small, but filling, side of small pieces of pita bread, tomato slices, cubes of feta cheese, tzatziki sauce, olives and pepperoncinis. We also split a side of the Greek fries, which were crinkle fries (frozen, I fear) with a mixture feta, garlic and lemon on top. It was very tasty, despite being frozen fries. Both of us got gyros (which as offered both as part of a full entree and as a seperate item), which were very good. A little too many onions for my taste, but I tossed them to the side. I got chicken, and she got beef, and we both gobbled them down. We couldn't finish the fries of Med. plate, so there was more than enough food. The owner/server was very nice, and the food came out fast. The place is tiny, so large groups are probably not a good idea, but this is a nice place to catch a fast, tasty meal with a few friends.

This place is amazing! The service is great and the restaurant is no frills and very clean. I discovered this place through yelp last week and the other reviews about this place are very accurate. I have dragged my girlfriend, her family, and two of my friends there over the last week and they have all been impressed. I would highly recommend checking this place out!

Read about this place through Yelp...Got good reviews....We went order the food at the counter and sat down to be served...I got the Combo Lamb Kabob and Beef Gyro...The food was very tasty. Service was excellent, they were attentive to fill our drinks...Yes, I would go there and eat again. Food is substantial for what you pay for. I have eaten at other Greek Rests, this one is not as nice but the service and meal was very good! The baklava was excellent too...He warmed it slightly in the microwave to losen the honey. The flavor of the baklava was great better than what I have tasted from other places!!!1

Ok - got coupon through Groupon so decided to give it a try. Excellent service, but would probably not go again. Ordered: Lamb kabob - ok, fresh but a little dry. would not get again Beef Sharma - Would definitely get again, tender, flavorful. fafafel - overfried, hard and did not seem fresh. I've had much better greek fries - yummy, but nothing that special and when are fries NOT good?

My wife and I have been searching for a very good Greek place and have finally found it here. She loves the chicken kabobs where I will usually get the gyro with the greek fries. Service & quaility is outstanding and the place is kept very clean. We've had the pleasure of eating here 4 times in the past month and have not been disappointed yet. Quite the contrary...if you're in this area you've got to go you'll not be disappointed.

I live in Eugene, OR and every two weeks when I come to Sacramento I can't wait to have lunch and dinner here. my wife and I have been here 3 or 4 times now, and with so many restaurants in the area to choose from, that is saying a lot! if you are on arden, turn south on howe and the restaurant is located about 50yds on the right in a small strip mall area. from the outside it does not look like much, but once you are inside the owner and staff are all very friendly, nice selection of food to choose from, reasonably priced, and the food is VERY good! it is definitely worth a try if you like good greek food!

YOU KNOW A RESTAURANT IS GOOD WHEN YOU MAKE PLANS TO GO BACK WHILE YOU ARE STILL IN THE RESTAURANT--- I went here based on the overwhelmingly good reviews on yelp. I usually take user reviews with a grain of salt but all of them seemed to be very positive. I ordered the lamb Kabob sandwich which was excellent. It was a good portion for a fair price. They gave packets of ketchup with my fries which I usually get a little annoyed about but it didn't bother me because they brought out a side of tzatziki sauce with my meal without me asking. The service was very good. The person who took my order was very friendly and welcoming but not in an overbearing type of way. I was there as they were closely but I felt absolutly no pressure to leave (something that really makes me think less of a place when it happens) I want to go back soon and try the beef gyro and the falafel as well.

Well ever since I started going here I haven't been able to stop! I have tried pretty much every item on the menu at least once and they have all been absolutely yummy! traditional, home cooked tasting, well proportioned, great prices, and the service is phenomenal. My favorite is the chicken kabob or the supreme cheeseburger or the felafel's... although i am such a sucker for their pita bread and hummus :) Taky is the most generous server and owner and is always running around taking good care of the customers. I recommend this place to everyone I know and for those that have gone already have given me nothing but good things to say about this place. GO EAT HERE and GO GIANTS!!!!! lol (they are big giants fans too)

I am new to Sacramento and found this restaurant thanks to Yelp. It has become my new favorite place! I love the gyro - wonderfully flavorful meat, delightful salad with a light lemony dressing, great tiki and pita triangles. The owner is very nice and friendly and the place is very clean. I wish they were open on Sundays as I often find myself wanting to eat out on Sundays, but it is worth scheduling another day.

What a fantastic gem of a Greek restaurant. Came to Sac on a business trip and yelp told me to come here! Yay fellow yelpers! Delicious, delicious food. The hummus was so good, you must try it. It's in a strip mall and yet it's cute inside. Main thing is their delicious food, nice menu and great service. Always a nice surprise to find these hidden gems.

The owner(s) are the most polite people I've ever encountered in the restaurant industry. They really know the meaning of customer service (which is a huge deal for me) The food is a 20/10 delicious, beautifully presented and great portions. Bring everyone, you won't be disappointed!!! One of my personal Sacramento favs.

  • HappyHippie Z.

Meh? Very disappointed. They've obviously minimized portions on the menu. Ordered what I believe was a platter which came with gyro meat, salad or rice, and pita bread. Gyro meat portion was much smaller but very good, pita bread was dry, and the lettuce in the salad was not appetizing or edible. How much more can it be to use a little Romaine instead of hard, thick, chunky, white portions of iceberg lettuce. If you're going to do that at least shred the lettuce. I have to say the additions to the salad were fresh and very tasty though. Husband was also very disappointed in his gyro due to the dry pita bread, but he said the fries were good. As usual, the service is always excellent and the owner is always super friendly.

Today my son and I stopped in for lunch. My son ordered a double cheeseburger, and I ordered cheeseburger supreme. The burgers taste delicious! I can't wait to return and explore the menu. I definitely will be back.

The menu brought me in, but the service brought me back! No kidding! I had the most delicious hamburger I've ever had, but the customer service was even better! In fact, I dined here two days in a row because my experience was so satisfying. Even though the restaurant itself was modest-it felt perfect, and the staff made me feel at home. Both the American and Med cuisine was equally delicious, so if your torn between the two don't despair. There's plenty of parking near the restaurant, and adequate seating inside as well.

This place was yummy! We had the Falafel in pita bread with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and your choice of Tahini or Tzatziki sauce.--yummy! Vegetarian Combo that included a Greek salad, two dolmades, spanakopita or tiropita, Tzatziki sauce and a side of pita bread.--- yummy! Also tried this bottled Greek wine-- very refreshing! It had this slight pine taste that was different. I definitely recommend this spot, great customer service, food was great. It is tucked in the plaza right next to Howe bout Arden.

Once upon a time my mom used to bring home the best gyros I've ever had from a place inside Arden Fair mall. Sadly, it was replaced by Hot Dog on a Stick. After all these years, I can't believe I didn't know that Cafe Europa had closed at the mall because they were opening a restaurant. When I learned that this restaurant was the same little place in the mall, I was ecstatic. When I finally dined here, I was not disappointed. Everything tasted exactly how I remembered. I ordered the supreme gyro with lamb as my protein. You can choose from chicken, beef, and this other meat that is a combo of lamb and beef, which my bf opted for. We also shared an order of Greek fries, which were DELICIOUS. The restaurant itself is very clean and inviting. There were two huge groups that were already seated and eating when I arrived, but my bf and I were not ignored. The customer service was excellent. Cafe Europa is seriously one of the best Greek restaurants, if not the best, in Sacramento. Do yourself a favor and try this place (:

I hate to give this place 3 stars just because the people and service is excellent.. The hummus and pita not that great. The garlic fries ok! The chicken kabob sandwich good. I feel a little let down by yelp. Lol I know I haven't wrote a review for SAMs in Davis, Ca but they don't compare

  • Jamie S.

The service is lovely! I came in after seeing all the sparkling reviews and tried the Vegetarian Combo. It came with pita, tzatziki, greek salad, dolmas and a spanakopita for about $8. The dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) were by far my favorite and something I'll order again. The Greek salad was pretty typical, heavy on the onions with a basic oily dressing. Based on the reviews, I expected the salad to really blow me away- but it was pretty average. I'll probably try the falafel the next time I go.

The owner Taky was awesome. He was at the counter when we placed the order. He made me feel very comfortable as if I was dining room in his own kitchen. I recommended this place to a coworker, and she said her family would eat there today. I can't wait to go back.......very nice people!

I've had a good deal of Greek food, been to the Greek food festival a couple of times, while I am far from an expert I've had my share of Mediterranean food in Sacramento and this was far from the best of it. The Gyro I got was full of burned onions, not cartelized ones but blackened charred ones that even after I picked some out still made the food taste off. The Gyro meat when taken in isolation was tasty, the lettuce was a bit old (browning around cut marks) but still crisp. The Greek Fries are nice, though there is nothing that keeps the feta holding onto the fries. however when paired with some tzatziki, they are pretty good. Everything tasted like oregano though, I don't know if the heaping helping on the fries blew out my taster or if everything was doused in it? i don't mind oregano so it was;t all bad but it really flattened out the flavors. The Spanakopita was very tasty and flaky but $3 for a single piece was a bit much i expected 2-3 and got only 1. The place is small but clean, the chairs were a little unsteady but I am a big dude so I tend to notice that more than most. Service was good. Prices were a touch high for what we got. I ended up spending about $15 for a gyro with he greek fries substitution and a single spanakopita. I did;t feel like that was a $15 meal to be perfectly honest. Opa Opa is a better choice in my thinking, a little fresher and more vibrant with less leaning on a single herb. Nothing here was bad per se but nothing was good either.

We were passing through Sacramento and found this place on Yelp. Wow, was it ever worth it to get off the highway for this! Even though I grew up in Chicago, this was the best gyros sandwich ever, with feta and fries inside! Awesome greek salad too! Fair prices, good service. Very recommended!

The food is delicious and authentic. I found myself getting a little impatient with the service (especially when they were late with the fries on our order) but I'm not beyond recognizing that for good food you sometimes have to wait. I've tried a couple type of gyros, their fries, their lentil soup - all are delicious and a decent value. The setting isn't that fancy. This place is casual - come for the food, not the ambiance.

I think every middle eastern, and mediterranean restaurant's nightmare, is to have middle eastern customers... We are picky. And each of us, has a different idea of what the food should taste like. For me, if you say you're giving me greek salad, I want a lemon dressing with it, not a vinegar one. That's just how I have always had it... but who knows? I've never been to greece itself. I've had it in Iran, and in Turkey. so, I'm not basing my review on that. This place is clean, and has a very friendly service. I like their greek fries which come with feta and lemon and parsley. I really, really do like the fries. They could be more golden and crusty, but really are quite fine just the way they are. I also have tried their rice pilaf... not my thing. It was cooked well, but I didn't really like the seasoning. The chicken kabob was a bit too dry for me, and I wouldn't order it again. The lamb kabob was ok, but the pieces are small, and a little tough (over cooking lamb does that), but I would give the lamb another try. I really did like the flavor on it, so I think next time, I'll just order lamb. The prices here are pretty fair. I guess having the terrible location (as mentioned in some of the other reviews), allows them to keep their prices low, so no complaints about the location here.

I'd been craving Greek for a long time so based on reviews, decided to give this place a try. We order a gyro, fries and a vegetarian combo plate so we could try a little bit of everything. Food was pretty decent. Meat was a little greasy compared to others I've had but really not enough to ruin it. The fries were a little stale but that could have been because I got it to go. Other than that, a perfectly acceptable meal. The highlight was the extremely friendly staff! It seemed like maybe an off night so I would definitely eat here again.

This has become one of our favorite lunch spots for work. The gyro is affordable and they actually put a good amount of meat in there unlike other places. Everything we have ordered so far has been really good, can't wait to eat there again!!

I wrote the following review of Cafe Europa for the Sacramento Epicureans dining club. We participated in a special brunch just for club members last Sunday. Upon arrival to this small but sparkling-clean restaurant just shy of the Howe-Bout-Arden center, guests were treated to heaping plates of pork sausage called Loukaniko topped with fresh herbs and lemon juice; fresh chickpea Hummus; yogurt and cucumber Tzatziki; warm Pita bread; rice-stuffed grape leaves called Dolmas; Calamata olives and Pepperoncinis. Many Epicureans commented that the Dolmas and Hummus were among the best they'd ever tasted. Owner Taky Cazanis provided diners with some background on Cafe Europa's history reaching back to 1981. Continuing the tradition started by his parents in Arden Fair Mall (when it was only one story), Taky opened the current location in 2010. Staffed by family and drawing from longstanding recipes, diners could sense and taste the pride as Taky concluded his history by saying "Thank you for coming to my house." In short order, the buffet styled main courses were brought out- beef and lamb Gyro; white wine and lemon marinated grilled Chicken Breast, Green salad with olives, tomatoes and feta; Rice pilaf; savory green beans stewed in a tomato, olive oil and onion broth called Fasolakia and more warm Pita bread. The once lively conversation fell to a murmur as Epicureans thoroughly enjoyed the Greek cuisine. As conversation picked back up, Taky invited guests to come back for seconds, then passed around plates of decadent butter cookies topped with mountains of powdered sugar known as Kourambietha. After reviewing the chalkboard of daily lunch specials ranging from Greek Cheeseburgers to Pastrami and even Mizithra spaghetti, many Epicureans left Cafe Europa already planning their next visit. The well-executed traditional Greek fare and family-friendly atmosphere make Cafe Europa truly delightful and worthy of the Sacramento Epicureans "hidden secret" status. OPA!

This was my first time having Greek/Mediterranean food and I pleased to say that I had a pleasant experience. My friends and I tried a few things from the menu to get a better feel for the food they offered and so the following is my rating for each item we tried. Baklava - ***** - This desert was great and it was served warm. Hummus with Pita - *** - The hummus wasn't as great as some other places but the pita bread was delicious. Loukaniko - *** - Tasted like regular sausage with some extra spices. Greek Fries - *** - Tasted like regular fries with some cheese on top. Dolmades - ** - This is just personal preference but I didn't care too much for these. Gyros - ***** - This was amazing! Lamb Kabob - ***** - This was my first time tasting lamb and it was amazing as well. Overall I would definitely recommend this place to friends and I foresee myself coming back here for the Gyros and the Kabob.

I had their chicken gyro w Takiki sauce. It was okay. Not the best gyro I've had. There was barely any customers there and I'm not surprised. The chicken itself was really chewy. Don't think I'll come back again. I'll just stick to driving 30 minutes to Davis for some Shwarmas at Sam's Mediterranean.

I had the beef/lamb gyro. It was a standard good gyro and the specials are definitely at a good price. I liked how they left the sauce out and let you put as much as you want. Most places put too much sauce and overpowers the flavor of the gyro.

I was in the area and was hungry for lunch but couldn't figure out what to eat. I scrolled through my bookmarks on the Yelp app and decided on Cafe Europa. I didn't realize the place was super tiny and in a run downish strip mall. Don't let that fool you though. The customer service and food were both amazing! I ordered the chicken kabob sandwich (pita bread, lettuce, onion, tomato, pieces of chicken kabob and tzatziki sauce on the side) and the greek fries. The chicken kabob sandwich was so delicious. The chicken pieces were super juicy, not overdone and the sandwich as a whole was really delicious. I love tzatziki sauce and the one here did not disappoint. The greek fries were pretty yummy too - loaded with feta cheese, spices and lemon juice. The place itself is pretty tiny, but the customer service is wonderful and they never made me feel rushed. I can't wait to visit again!

This is such a Sacramento gem! I absolutely loved this place. It is completely unassuming and in a shopping center near Nordstrom Rack, but the food was not disappointing. First off, the service was great. The gentleman who took our order was so polite and responsive. A++ I order the chicken kabob. It was nice overly dry and it was pretty delicious. I am trying to be somewhat healthy, so I ordered a side salad to go with it. Their vinaigrette dressing is pretty good, too. The SO liked his falafel pita and our friends' order of feta fries looked amazing. Overall, great place and awesome service.

The juiciest, most flavorful lamb beef gyro I've had in CA. Far superior to Petra's. The feta cheese they use must be laced with crack, because I inhale my salad, not eat it. The service is also on point. The owner takes an immense amount of pride and joy in his restaurant and this is seen in the high quality of food served here. What are you still doing here? GO GET SOME.

I was really excited to try this place after Yelps almost 5 star review but I was left very underwhelmed. The Greek fries had a very light sprinkling of feta cheese on them and tasted very bland as did my lamb gyro. There are much more better options other than this place. But on the other side there service was good and the restaurant was nice and clean.

I dropped in on my way to a Sacramento Republic game. The menu included both American (hamburgers) and Greek fare. I had the spaghetti with kyma (a red meat sauce) and it was excellent! My wifey had the lamb skewer (that what the menu said, rather than souvlaki) and a spanakopita. She loved it and wondered why I didn't take her there sooner. Thanks owner, Taky, for having a restaurant so good that I get in trouble for not going there sooner. We finished up with baklava. It was to die for. The service was good too. Very friendly staff. We are definitely going back to try the rest of the menu.

I came here today for lunch because I was looking to try someplace new even though I already had a favorite Greek restaurant down the street. I was first surprised at how small the restaurant was! It is tucked into a corner in the shopping center next to Nordstrom Rack on Howe. I came in a little late for lunch around 1:15pm and there was two other tables full but I ordered mine to go. The guy behind the counter was super helpful and nice, he answered my questions and offered useful suggestions. I ordered the Falafel Pita Sandwich with an order of Greek Fries. Of course it was Tuesday and the lunch special on Wednesday was the falafel pita. Oh well. My food arrived quickly and I was on my way! The fries were OK, I thought they needed more of a sauce or something. There was a ton of oregano and cheese on top, but not too much lemon drizzle. I found them to be dry, and a little overwhelming. They left me wishing I had some ketchup. The falafel pita sandwich was good, it was pita bread filled with 6 pieces of falafel, lettuce and cucumber (I requested no tomatoes but it usually comes with it). The falafel were a little on the crispy side and could have used more flavor, but the tzatziki sauce was good and made it not so dry. I did enjoy my meal, and would come back again if I was in the area or other people wanted to go. I would just get the sandwich next time and hold off on the fries. But it unfortunately just didn't compare to my favorite spot.

Thanks to fellow Yelpers we checked this place out and we were not disappointed. We went on a Saturday, at noon and the place was not busy. The guy at the register was friendly and answered any questions we had before ordering. Hubby ordered the gyro entree (lamb/beef gyro with drink and Greek salad). I ordered a lamb/beef gyro sandwich with Greek fries and a drink. The price was fair and the service fast. The food arrived hot and fresh and tasted outstanding. The veggies were crisp and fresh and the meat was tender and moist. I appreciated that theTzatziki sauce was on the side; this allowed me to choose how much I wanted on my sandwich. The tzatziki sauce, however, was delicious and was even worthy of dipping a few of my fries in. Hubby's meal was also pleasing to the eyes and tastebuds. My only complaint is a little odd...The floor, throughout the establishment was unusually slick. I'm not sure if it's always this slippery, or if the floors were freshly cleaned but it was comparable to ice skating! This still wouldn't keep me from visiting again. I will definitely slide that way, soon!

FANTASTIC food and amazing service! I'm picky about my middle eastern food, and this is one of the best- the baklava is the best I've ever had (don't tell my aunts that!)

I will be honest. I was on the fence about coming here. My co-worker was describing it and it did not sound good at all. I thought "greek food=bad breath"... Boy was I slightly right... But it was delicious!!! The service was great! The manager was extremely nice and the waiter was very efficient... I will return here for lunch with the gang a few times a month, if not more. The greek fries are SOOOOOO GOOD!!!

    * Welcome Experience - Outstanding Just what you're looking for. A prompt warm greeting. Genuine interest in your experience. Nicely done. Thank you! The place was empty on a Tuesday night at 6pm. * Establishment - Ordinary Felt clean, spacious and organized. Odd framed photos of hamburgers and salads on the wall. * Service - Encouraging A younger bald guy tended our table. He was very courteous and seemed interested in our experience. He did very well. * Food Quantity / Quality / Presentation - Discouraging My table's order was a hummus, two gyros and a hamburger with Greek fries and a Spanikopita. We weren't asked what our temperature preference was for the burger. It was absolutely hammered. Way overcooked, and my impression is that this is a bought-in frozen patty that's thawed and fried on the flat top. Unspectacular overcooked patty. The French fries are ordinary frozen bought in fries heated in the deep fryer. Plain and boring. The Greek fries were the same boring fries with a small amount of feta, lemon juice and oregano. Just wasn't impressed. The beef/lamb gyro meat was well seasoned but was the very end of the spit. (They removed and replaced the split after serving ours). The meat was dry and hard wrapped in a very ordinary warm pita. Also unspectacular. (I think they should have served fresh meat and not squeezed another two gyros out of the last spit... My opinion!) The Spanikopita exterior was crispy and good but the inside looked and tasted old. The hummus had too much citrus for my taste... Sorry Europa, I wanted to love you guys! * Stuff that isn't important but I felt it was worth mentioning Great napkins! Big and sturdy! But ketchup packets? Really? You can't serve it in a squeeze bottle? Odd. * What I'll remember Nice greeting. Staff that appears to care about your service experience. * What I can't wait to forget The food was tired and unimpressive. Quite ordinary bordering on bad in my opinion. Three stars because the service was fast and friendly and the food was a bit pricey, ordinary and unimpressive but not BAD.

I came here on a quick dinner date because I was hungry and this place happened to have a pretty high rate on Yelp AND it was close to Total Wine, the place I needed to drop by afterwards (So to me it was sorta a win/win deal). The gentleman at the register was very kind to us, he made us feel very welcomed and waited patiently for us to decide on what we wanted to eat there. I was craving pita bread so I ordered their Taky's Gyro (the guy pronounced it as giro and I somehow always thought it would read as jairo LOL) and also had their Lamb kabob. ::Taky's Gyro:: The sliced meat didn't look like any of the typical meat you see on sandwiches. I didn't get to ask what kind of meat it was, but it was seasoned well and tasty. The sandwich is also stuffed with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, potato FRIES, cheese and a side of Tzatziki sauce. Tzatziki is a Greek sauce that is yogurt base and mixed with some seasonings. It was served cold and I used it on both my sandwich and also dipped my fries into them (it tastes good on everything..) I ended up having the server bring out two more sides of it. ::Lamb Kabob:: The lamb here is quite good. Tender but lack a bit of seasoning. I too dipped this in the Tzatziki sauce and it helped with the flavor. It's served with rice and lettuce. The portion is big enough to feed two. I don't get many Greek food cravings but I just happened to wanted to try something different while in the area and found this place. Definitely a slight healthier choice than say burgers or greasy Asian food that I often dine at..

The super gyro is amazing! I am a complete fan of it, and have had it now a handful of times since living in Sac for the last 6 months. I keep coming back, because this place keeps doing it right. I also have high praise for the staff, as they're always very friendly and smiling. It's not often you CONSTANTLY get greeted with a smile and polite gesture, but this place does that right. Time and time again, I'm greeted politely, served in a timely manner with delicious food. The decor is average, it's a small restaurant - do not expect it to be anything more. Although, it's also very clean and trendy in it's own right. It's a little hidden gem that deserves more exposure and visits. If you're fond of gyros and have not yet tried it, don't even hesitate to stop in. Also, their greek fries are delicious to boot.

I waited a while to post a review but am finally getting around to it. This place wasn't horrible, but a few things were off for me. First, the pita wasn't that good, dry. Sadly, that's my favorite part=/ Second, I asked for hot sauce thinking I'd get some cool Greek flavors..no. I got tapatio (Mexican hot sauce in a packet)..no bueno. Next we could tell the fries were previously frozen, not bad but I expected more I guess. The meat was good, I got a gyro and wasn't super impressed but it did get eaten. Overall, it was better than opa opa!

I just picked up the gyros dinner special ($13.95) and let me tell you...it's a lot of food. The avgolemono soup is delicious! The beef/lamb gyros are plentiful. I definitely have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. There is absolutely no way I could have finished all the food. Good price for large portions!

I had a major prego craving for gyros today and happened upon this little gem. Simple, slightly retro decor with a small dining area (although a giant party of about 25 women were there and there were still tables enough for all other patrons). The (presumed) owners were super friendly, gave me a menu, and I ordered the lamb gyro with fries and a drink, plus a side of falafel. What? I'm pregnant! All for $12 BTW. Anywho, I am so glad I stopped in. The gyro was HUGE, with super fresh veggies and the best tzatziki sauce I have ever had. The falafel was crunchy on the outside, well seasoned, and also came with tzatziki. I was so full by the time I got to the fries, but they looked amazing. For the taste, the price, and the quality, you can't beat it! I will definetely be coming back (maybe even tomorrow!)

Love the family feel here and they are so nice! But the best part is the food. Delicious! Authentic! I personally love the falafel pita and gyro salad but the avgolemeno and lentil soup is the shiz too. Who knew a Greek restaurant would also be amazing at making hamburgers too?!

  • Sara C.

GREAT food! My husband and eye both loved their lamb gyros. This place feels authentic and is not overly priced. They gave me a ton of meat on my one lamb gyro! Just one was too much food. We will definitely be going back to try out more of their food.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Greek/Mediterranean food, look no further because Café Europa is one of the best hidden gems that Sacramento has to offer. Located on Howe Ave. in a smaller strip-mall (than neighboring "Howe Bout Arden"), this place can be a tad bit tricky to find unless you know exactly where it is. Fortunately the parking lot always has an abundance of empty spots so there is never a need to hunt down a spot to park. I've been to Café Europa at least a dozen times simply because of exceptional service, quality of food, and close proximity to my home. I've dined here alone, I've dined here with my lovely lady, and now I am dining here with fellow Yelp friends Todd G. (with his daughter) and Devo S. We all meet for lunch around 1:30pm as the dining area has a few tables occupied but overall it is not too busy at all. And as I mentioned how great the service is here, the owner actually remembered me from nearly a year ago! He was very polite and had a great positive attitude which already made this experience a very welcome one. For those of you that have dined here, the inside is very no-frills. There are basic tables for dining complete with wood paneling throughout the counter and walls. You will also find a small flat screen TV as well as a giant mirror in the dining area that gives you that illusion that the restaurant is bigger than it really is. But enough about me talking about the inside, let's get on with how their food is! As I've already tried their Kabob entrees, falafels, and Greek salads, I've actually never had their gyros. And I don't why I waited so long! After seeing many positive reviews on their gyros, I give in and order the "Beef/Lamb Gyro" (for $6.25). The gyro itself includes large seasoned slices of meat in a warm pita pocket and is completed with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and their signature Tzatziki sauce. And for only $2.99 more, I opt for a side of regular French fries and a pink lemonade. My meal comes out in less than 7 minutes and this thing is loaded with meat! The Tzatziki sauce comes on the side which is a nice touch. And the gyro, well let's just say that It is so big, I only wonder how am I going to pick it up and eat it without making too much of a mess? Well I successfully took my first bite and was literally in gyro-heaven. The portions and seasonings they use in the beef/lamb was tender and cooked to absolute perfection. The warm pita bread was absolutely heavenly while the lettuce and onions created a nice crunch to every savory bite. Overall, Café Europa is my #1 go-to spot for some amazing Greek food in the Sacramento area. The portions are generous, the food is amazing, and the prices are very reasonable. If you're looking for a no-frills restaurant that packs some amazing Mediterranean flavor, look no further because Café Europa is the place to come!

I have eaten here many times & the staff are very friendly & the food is yummylious. I love the chicken kabob sandwich. Very tasty & filling. The Greek fries are delicious but don't let them sit & get soggy. My daughter & hubby like the Gyro pita sandwich.

Had the beef/lamb entree with greek salad. Meat was greasy and salty on its own-it needed the sauce. Not as good as I thought with all the reviews for this cafe.

Café Europa is a solid place to pick up some great tasting gyro. It's not the most impressive restaurant, but it's clean and the food is great. So far, I visited twice. On both occasions the individual taking our order at the counter was courteous and extremely professional. One of my dining companions asked about the gyro meat. The gentleman gave us a lengthy and informative explanation as to why they use a 90/10 ratio of beef and lamb. He is also familiar with the other major Greek restaurants in the area, and gave us some suggestions on what to order if we visit them. The place itself is not fancy. You order at a counter and they bring the food to you once it's ready. The prices are reasonable. I've tried the Supreme Gyros and the Greek Salad. Supreme Gyros - Pita bread packed to the gills with thinly cut gyro, a few fries, various veggies, feta, and a side of Tzatziki sauce. I would say it's a tad overfilled, making it difficult to get a taste of everything in a single bite. The contents of the pita tend to fall out into the sandwich wrapper as you are eating. All the produce tasted fresh, and the gyro meat was delicious. I didn't think the fries really added any flavor or texture as there weren't that many of them stuffed inside. Giving the Tzatziki on the side is an extremely smart move. You can continually add it to the top of whatever part of the sandwich you're chowing into next, making sure you always get some creamy goodness in every mouthful. Large Greek Salad (with added 4oz of gyro meat) - Your standard Greek salad combination with a vinaigrette on the side. I elected to add 4 ounces of their delicious gyro on top. I really enjoyed the salad. The cut of the vegetables were right on the money, and it had a healthy dose of feta to provide some creamy richness. There was a nice ratio of gyro meat to salad. I'll definitely be ordering this again. Ultimately, if you are craving some Mediterranean flavors and want to skip the crowds downtown, Café Europa is a great choice.

I am so glad that I found this little gem. Fantastic food, great service and the guy who helped us was easy on the eyes. I had the beef/lamb gyro and the flavor was there. The house salad was well put together and the baklava was decent. Definitely worth going :)

The food was amazing. Ordered the chicken kabob. The chicken was delicious; tender and juicy. I could see in the kitchen they grilled my kabob upon order and considering the fresh food my wait time was pretty short. My favorite kabobs in the area.

I was in the Arden-Arcade area, and decided I wanted to have dinner someplace I hadn't eaten before. Naturally, I turned to Yelp, because I'm not completely familiar with all the dining options in the area. Cafe Europa caught my eye because I had previously bookmarked this place, AND its average Yelp rating is 4.5 stars, which is amazing. So, I headed on over to the strip mall on Howe, where that mongolian bbq place that's been there FOREVER still is. For all the great reviews, I was surprised to see the place empty on a Saturday. I still forged ahead, and was greeted by the sweetest older gentleman. I perused the amazing menu, and settled on a beef/lamb gyro sandwich, to which I added a greek salad and diet coke. The older gentleman went into the back, I guess to make my order, and out came a just-as-nice younger gentleman, who was talking to the older gentleman in Greek. Pretty sure it was Greek. Which, honestly, made me anticipate my food was gonna be pretty damn authentic. Anyway, out came my salad and drink first. Nicely sized salad with all the right stuff, plus the dressing was on the side...nice touch!. The younger guy really wanted to make sure I was comfortable, and let me know that I could have the TV channel switched to whatever I liked, and if it was too cold he would shut the front door (no worries on that since it was still in the mid-70s at that time of the day, even though it was dark outside). Plus, which I found endearing, he called me "dear" and "honey" at the end of every conversation. So nice :) My gigantic, filled-to-the-gills gyro sandwich was brought out, and I was uber-impressed. It was just piled high with flavorful mounds of gyro meat, lettuce, and onions in a warm, soft pita bread. It was the biggest gyro sandwich I've ever seen, and it was DELICIOUS! I like that they put the tzatziki sauce on the side, too. I like Opa!Opa! and Greek Village Inn (side note: drove by there last night after shopping at Safeway and noticed it was closed...they're not out of business, are they?), but I have to say that Cafe Europa is probably going to be my go-to place for Greek food for a while. In fact, looking forward to coming back for lunch with Hubby on Veteran's Day so he can experience how good the food is here. Do yourself a favor and try this place, too! It very much deserves the high rating it has :) Yassou, my friends!

This place is my go-to pre-movie food, since it's so close to the theater. It's nestled in a nondescript strip mall, but don't let that fool you! The place has great Greek food and the staff is enormously friendly. I typically order the lamb gyro and it's never disappointed. Can't speak to some of the other items on the menu, but I'm sure it's all excellent! Price is fair for what you get. Give this place a shot if you're in the area or catching an evening showtime at the movie theater next door.

The gentleman (owner?) at the front counter is very friendly and attentive. He will offer the same great customer service whether you dine in or take out. He's open to offering suggestions if you are unsure or if it's your first time visiting. Regarding food- I can only speak to the veggie items, YUMMY! I highly recommend the Greek fries. :)

We've been here a few times since I'm a sucker for Gyros, but after our last visit I can't just get the courage to come back. My partner is a vegetarian and usually goes for (and likes) Greek because of the hummus, falafel, etc. The funny thing is... the last time we went together, we both got sick! Now, remember that I'm a carnivore and they're a vegetarian.... the only thing we both ate was that I had a bit of falafel. About twenty minutes after leaving we both got massive headaches and had to cut our errands short and go home. Later that night, the partner tried to eat our "to go" leftovers and got a bad bad taste of the falafel and had to toss it out - a bad enough scare that we just tossed it all out! I had made the mistake of ordering the Taky's Gyro AND Greek Fries (more than enough potatoes), and they got an extra greek salad by mistake because the kid running food to us brought out an individual salad to our table instead of the falafel/salad platter. So that meant a bunch of fries, salad, and falafel went into the garbage. Boo! Cafe Europa is no-frills, and in a dying little shopping center that used to house Great Escape Games and a Pet Shop - about the only reason we go in there now would be if we wanted Mongolian BBQ. The service is a little odd - you order at the counter, like a regular "fast food" restaurant, but then they bring your food out to you... need ketchup? You get a few packets of no name generic condiments. The food isn't BAD, but it's just kinda average-to-overpriced, which sucks since there aren't a lot of Greek places nearby and Greek Village Inn closed a few years back (I've heard Opa Opa is overrated but haven't been and that's the only other place in the area I know about)... also, apparently they mash(?) their falafel and this is an odd thing, according to my partner-in-crime. Maybe it's the handmade thing. We're not sure. Normally Cafe Europa would get like 2-3 stars but thanks to the food poisoning.... sorry, can't recommend and would not do again.

I always get the vegetarian pita with Feta cheese and Greek fries. I love this place. The owner is extremely friendly and the food is consistently good. The fries have lemon and feta on them. The veggie pita is a mix of assorted veggies like tomato, cucumber, onion, lettuce with tzatziki sauce and feta cheese. I definitely recommend coming here for lunch or dinner for some great food.

Love this place! It's run by a family who is always so friendly and accommodating. Ask them about the menu! They love to tell you about their food and get you what you want. I've been here several times and it's been delicious each time. It's a relief to have a locally run, non-chain food option in the middle of what is quite frankly, a bit of a good desert. I always look forward to being on this side of town and grabbing a gyro :) Plus they always have the Giants game on, so what more could you want!

I've got to give a shout out to Yelp for this find. I was in town for business and couldn't decide what I wanted to have for dinner. What I did know was that I wanted something semi-healthy and something that I could get to go. A quick search on my handy dandy Yelp app and I was on my way here. It was fairly early on a weeknight and I almost had the restaurant to myself. After a quick menu perusal, I decided on the chicken kabob entree. It is served with rice pilaf or a greek salad. I opted for the salad. The vinaigrette is served on the side, as well as a nice portion of warm pita and tzatziki (cucumber yogurt sauce) for dipping. At just over $10 with tax, it was a generous amount of delicious food. The man who helped me was incredibly nice and offered me water while I waited.

The genuine experience we had this restaurant takes me back to the days when you would actually see and meet owners and their establishments. The owner was the gentleman working who helped us through our meal. He made some great suggestions and answered all of our questions and it's good to see someone taking pride in their place. I'm shine Gyro fanso I was drawn to this place like a Junebug to porch light. Their Gyro was a nice portion size and very good flavor. The only comment I can make is that I wish they had put the Tzatziki sauce in the pita instead of on the side. But it was still great. My wife got their chicken club that was served in the pita and my son got a grilled cheese that was also served in a pita. Then we shared order of the Greek french fries. Crispy french fries with creamy for cheese, seasoning and lemon. Sounds kind of strange but the flavors really came together it was a nice change to fries. If I'm in the area I will be back.

I LOVE their gyros, gyro fries, and falafels. The price is good for what you get. Whenever I'm in the mood for some tangy feta Mediterranean food I come here. It seems to be a family business and a lot of the customers seem to be repeaters. I think that says a lot!

While going through my searches on best rated eateries in the vicinity, I came across this place. Had to try it, I read some of the reviews but I was more attracted to the high Yelp rating. We came here on a Tuesday night after 6pm, maybe it was the day, maybe the time, but we were the only patrons! No problem, we ordered the beef gyro $5.99 and if you add fries and a drink $3.99 more. also ordered the Greek spaghetti, I love my carbs! I also ordered a side Greek salad $3.99. I'm assuming the gentleman who rang us up, was the owner, very friendly and polite, called me by, "sweetheart!" How sweet is that? Every time he wanted my attention, that was my name. We had quite a challenge deciding which table to sit in, as every table in here was institutionally clean. Nice! The side salad was delicious, the vinegarette was perfect. The vinegar and oil ratio was spot on. The salad was cold and clean to add the right amount of a fresh crunch after every bite. The beef gyro was okay, but I'm not sure if I'm much of a fan. We did have fries added to it, maybe I'm not that great at rating gyros? I will say that there was plenty of sliced beef. The greek fries was interesting, if I could re-do my order, I would order it plain since it may have been a feta cheese overload for us. The Greek spaghetti wasn't anything to note. Sorry! I hate to be a bearer of bad news but all I can give is 3 stars because it is just that, "A-OK!"

I can't believe I didn't include this in my original posting but this place provided the food for my graduation and they did an absolutely great food. We ordered lamb gyros and spanakopita among other dishes and everything was phenomenal. The owner, Taki is the nicest person and will try to be helpful in any way possible. I believe he even lent us a couple of catering trays that have those burners underneth. Recently, my brother and sister graduated from Sac State and we had a gathering for about 20 people at the restaurant. We brought in linen and they set up an area for us complete with a menu that included appetizers, main course, and sides. The corkage fee was super cheap and we even brought in a cake. The food is always so good that even those that aren't open to trying new things (a lot of my traditional Latin family) have nothing but positive things to say.

I went here for the first time yesterday, and I loved it. It's a small cafe right before the big shopping plaza on Howe bout Arden. It's hidden, so it took us a minute to find the place. Once we entered, the owner( I think he was the owner) greeted us, and was very welcoming. We ordered a special beef/lamb gyro, Greek salad, and Greek fries. We came in around 7pm, and there were about 5 other customers in the cafe. We received our salad within 5 minutes, and our food about 10 min later. I absolutely LOVED everything we ordered! Everything was so FRESH, and authentic. The tzaziki sauce was so delicious with the fries and the gyro! The owner was so friendly with all of the customers, and you don't really see that very often. He makes you feel welcome which I really liked! We will def be coming back, and comparing this to Opa Opa, Cafe Europa is way better!

A must in Sacramento! The food here is so good! I started coming here in college some years back and took about a year (or little more) gap away from this place once I moved, but when I came back.. The food was just as phenomenal as ever! It's set the standard for Greek food for me and nothing has come close so far. What to order? Everything! From salad, to chicken, to lamb, to gyro, to pita, this place delivers deliciousness every which way! The chicken (all the meats) are tender and marinated perfectly with their special Greek sauce. Just melts in your mouth! My favorite dish is the chicken over rice pilaf. Huge fan of rice pilaf and theirs is fantastic! It comes with an order of pita bread and an order of salad. Btw, the dressing on that salad is to die for! This restaurant brings out the beast in me! I come in, talk to the friendly owner (very nice guy, always willing to help or give recommendations), order my food, wait for it, and once I start eating it, I don't make a sound until my plate is clean. The Arden area isn't generally the best spot for great food, but this hidden gem delivers! Do yourself a favor and if your ever in the area, stop by Cafe Europa. The only regret you'll have, is not going.

I'm not too familiar with greek food, so i probably would not have gone here if I was not with my friend who recommend that we ate here. Upon coming in, it was empty. There were two workers who greeted us and showed us the menu. I don't remember the name of the food that we got, but it was the #1 sandwich and the greek fries. The sandwich looked more like a "pita" rather than an actual sandwich, and the portion was fulfilling. It tasted great and is something new that i never ate before. The greek fries were delicious as well. I didn't finish my food because i was full, but i took some home because everybody knows that leftovers are bomb.com the next day. Unfortunately I forgot my leftovers in my friend's car, BUMMER! It's okay though, i'll be returning here to eat again when i get the chance. Oh i forgot to mention, fellow sac state hornets also get a 10% discount on their meal with a sac state one card!!!

My first time here. I was craving a gyro and searched yelp and it brought me here. I ordered the gyro and seasoned fries. The gyro was excellent. Great portion too for the price. The staff was also very attentive and friendly. Will be coming back for sure!

Food is excellent. The staff is as well. Had the gyro and chicken plate. Came with rice, tiziki and pita bread. Ran about $14. Easily two meals but since I eat like a grizzly, it was only one serving for me.

I have been to this restaurant twice, and both times the food was good. The service is good too. This is not a 4 or 5 star review because I felt this restaurant is just average: good food, service, and prices just slightly high considering the portion sizes. I am not blown away, but considering the lack of Greek restaurants in Sacramento, I am sure I will be back for some gyros and avgolemono.

ordered the Gyro Plate with rice and hummus on the side. So good! the Gyros were so good and hummus was made perfect. The rice was very butter and savory. I had a hard time stopping. I would go back again.

Looking for a quick bite on a dark and rainy evening in Sacramento I was guided by my Yelp app into this shady looking little strip mall. I didn't much like the looks of the parking lot, but I parked just outside the Cafe Europa's storefront and wandered in. It was deserted so I was helped immediately. I love Greek food, so it's often hard for me to settle on just one item to order. The man working behind the counter was quite helpful and I finally settled on one of their gyro sandwiches. I chose the Village Gyro which came with seasoned meat, tomatoes, onions, fried potatoes, and creamy taztziki sauce. For the uninitiated, tzatziki sauce is a creamy tangy yogurt sauce flavored with cucumber, garlic, and mint. It is the traditional topping for gyro sandwiches and is de-lish. It's probably my favorite thing about Greek cuisine. The gentleman asked if I wanted fries with that (bad fast food flashback) and I said no. He then proceeded to describe to me - in detail - the Greek fries. They are french fries covered in feta, lemon juice, and oregano. Could you have resisted? Neither could I. It didn't take them too long to get my takeout order ready and get me back on the road, and I whiled away the time sipping on a soda and watching the rain fall. I really meant to just try a few fries on the drive back to the hotel and eat the gyro there. Really, I did, but it turns out that it is physically impossible to et just a few Greek fries. Once you start dipping into that well, you can't stop till it runs dry. Both the fries and the gyro (really tasty) were gone before I could reach the hotel and my tastebuds and tummy were both well pleased. My only regret is that I didn't order any baklava to finish off my meal. Don't you make the same mistake.

Love this place, was so thankful when I found them again after they had left Arden Fair. I remember when they were on a side hallway, back when Arden Fair was a one story and Corti Bros & Food Circus were on the opposite end from Sears. My favorite is the chicken kabob plate, which has chicken breast chunks, rice, salad, pita bread and tzaki sauce (I know I didn't spell that right). I've also had them add extra feta over the entire plate, the last two times, yum-mee.

Good pick up & go spot while you prepare for your wait for the show to begin at Punch Line. Go w/ the lamb gyro.

I'm very pleased that Cafe Europa has received the Yelp ratings it deserves! I've stopped by on a few occasions for lunch, and the service has been on point every single time; not to mention the food is very tasty and fairly priced. I was not able to meet with the owner the before (Monday), but he was accommodating when I walked in yesterday -in the middle of lunch hour. I was able to request catering for my office of 20-25 employees, and Taky made my ordering easy, at the same time made sure I stayed within budget. Thank you for that!!!! Everyone in the office certainly enjoyed our lunch today. If you're in the area, please give this place a shot. It's right across from the Marriott! And try the Gyro fries!!! :)

Long overdue review, but after coming here probably every week for the last 2+ years, I feel the need to contribute. The food is fantastic, and Taky is one cool ass dude to just shoot the shit with once you get over the hump of his aggressive hospitality (I admit, it was almost offputting at first because he was so eager to make sure everything was perfect.) Sit down (the food's way better in restaurant, but this is probably not surprising to anyone who has ever eaten anything before,) hang out, watch the Giants game, and enjoy. Taky will know your order if you become one of his regulars and you get the same thing a lot. The tzatziki is to die for and whatever the seasoning on the fries is, that's awesome too. The only thing that bums me out is when there's no customers during prime time, because I haven't been anywhere in Sacramento in 5 years here more deserving of repeat patronage. Skip Opa! Opa! and come here instead, you won't regret it.

One of my favorite spots to go to in Sac. It's hidden in a small plaza off of Howe Avenue. I honestly never really ate greek food until I tried this restaurant out. I recommend getting Taky's Gyro, super tender and just super delicious, with exta Tzaziki (spell check?) sauce. Their greek fries and gyro fries are B O M B! Their service is friendly and fast EVERYTIME I come here. Also, for Sac State students, you get like a 10% discount. Everytime I come here, I am never disappointed. Portions are perfect for a small girl like me. Get here! And you will not be disappointed :)

My wife and I went in for the 1st time yesterday and spoke with the owner or man about the menu recommendations. Decided to go with the supreme burger and gyro fries. The burger was out of this world by far. Beef patty, pastrami, bacon, pepperchinis, and grilled onions. I was mad that I ate it so fast. The gyro fries were equally as good. Definitely will be back soon for another burger and to try out more of the menu. Customer service is 5stars as well as cleanliness of the cafe

This restaurant is beyond phenomenal. Low prices with astounding food and by far the best Greek/Mediterranean food in Sacramento. The only detractor is the location which is in a strip mall adjacent to a movie theater parking lot, however the restaurant is kept immaculately clean on all occasions I've visited so this does not detract from the dining experience.

The beef/lamb Gyro was amazing. A little heavy on the onions, but Who Cares? Pick em off! We moved from Elk Grove to North Sacramento. I was soo happy to find a place on my way home from work. The food is affordable and Yummy. The guy at the front. He is such a sweet heart, go to find out he is the owner. This place is clean, well decorated, not to mention nice temperature indoors. Will diffidently be back!! Thank you Café Europa, you deserve this five star review. YOU ROCK!!

Now THIS is the way Mediterranean food is supposed to be !! The taki is good, I also tried the triple chocolate dessert and they warmed it up prior to serving it to make it even better. Coming back here very often !!

We are the ladies who lunch, and this is the place to do it! We have done a number of lunches in the Sacramento area, but none compare with our experience here. Taky and his staff were superb, inviting, and embracing. From the moment we walked in there was a feeling of both family and professionalism. These combined to make a superb luncheon. Not to let the food slide, it was also excellent. Our group of 20 probably sampled every dish on the menu - or close to it. Not only were there no complaints (really a group of women who don't complain??) all I heard was, "this is excellent"! I, personally, am not a fan of Greek food, but Cafe Europa has made me one. Go there. Go there often. Support your local non-chain restaurants and the people in your town who care!

My favorite Greek restaurant. Food is always good, service is great and very reasonable prices. I find many of the Greek restaurants in Sacramento use to much garlic, this place uses just the right amount. They seem to do everything right.

  • Kelley G.

Casual, easy to find and some of the best gyro meat I have ever had. I did not want a platter since I wanted to try the fries so the person taking our order recommended the fries with gyro meat. So so good about 4oz of meat, fries, lots of feta and herbs. The greek salad was good as well. My husband ordered the special which was kaboobs with rice, spanikpotia, rice, stuffed grape leaves, greek green beans, pita bread and a salad all that food for $14. Great place, good service and very casual.

I never was into Gyros...until I came here! The food always tastes fresh and the gentleman that helps us every time we go there is always smiling and makes us feel welcome! This is def one of my entire office's favorite places to go! If you want great authentic Greek food...this is the spot!

I yelped places near work a few months back and Cafe Europa had some of the top reviews so I figured I'd give it a shot. Let's just say, that I still come here at least once every few weeks, and will be making a trip here for lunch today as well! I started off getting the Chicken Gyro with Greek fries on my first few visits before moving on to the Chicken Kabob sandwich which had even more flavor to it. Then just this past visit, I upgraded yet again to the Chicken Club sandwich and I think I've found my new go-to item! All the food here tastes extremely fresh and the Tzatziki sauce is out of this world. The amazing staff and their friendliness are an added bonus that makes you feel right at home, even if you're eating on your own like I often do here. I highly recommend paying Cafe Europa a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Had the beef/lamb gyro: the pita bread is really soft and flavor is pretty good but the meat is on the saltier side for me. Also the bak lava dessert looks better than the taste. The first bite starts off good but the end tasted just ok. I actually like "Eat a pita" restaurant off Zinfandel more.

I seem to always be craving Greek food lately and I always like to try new places so I searched for Greek food in the area of my boyfriends work and Cafe Europa came up. We only had 30 min so it was essential that the service was quick. We opted for take out and ordered 2 gyros and Greek fries. The server/cashier was very friendly and prompt and gave us water while we waited, which wasn't long at all maybe 10 min for fresh food.. Not bad! I also ordered some baklava while we were waiting to - delicious! Super honeylicious and rich. I was very impressed with the taste and quality of the food and the prompt service. Though the decor is a little outdated - don't let that fool you! We will be returning! (:

This place has the best gyros in Sacramento hands down! It's really clean and the owner is always super nice! Highly recommend this lil gem tucked away in the heart of Arden!

People have raved about this place! This is one of the hidden gems of Sacramento located in a plaza between the Chili's and Ford dealership. I've heard that they serve the best greek food in Sacramento! I've had Gyros from other places and I have to admit, This is topshelf, top of the line! Great customer service. I've been here twice and both experiences were awesome! The food is so good and it is cooked fresh off the grill. I highly highly recommend this place.

A recommendation from David O. for a place that serves a good gyro is not something to be ignored. Needless to say, he was right about Café Europa. The first time I came in, the owner politely apologized and informed me that he unfortunately could not serve me at that time because his oven was currently on fire (which it was). I was disappointed but couldn't hold it against him, obviously. Before returning for a second visit, I flipped through the photos on their Yelp profile and was concerned when I saw crinkle fries in their gyros and other items. I f**king hate crinkle fries; they belong in an elementary school cafeteria, if anything, and will degrade the appearance and/or value of any meal because it is a constant reminder that they are not fresh. Thankfully, it appears they have realized this and have moved on to a more civilized straight-cut French fries. Not to go full on Yelper, but the "presentation" was more "appealing" this way. It's big, too, with the Tsatziki sauce on the side. The service is friendlier than you'd expect at a place this inexpensive, so that's cool. So now you have a recommendation from both David O. and Clay W. to pay this place a visit.

Best gyros everrrr. Thus place is a hidden gem!! Lived every bite of it. The staff here are so nice and welcoming. A great place for friends and family. Wouldn't bring a first time date here because it gets messy eating a big gyro =p

Just stared working in the Arden area, and I was overwhelmed by the amount and diversity regarding options for food. Naturally, I yelped the area and starting trying out some of the restaurants nearby, starting with Cafe Europa. I have been here twice now. The first time I dined in and ordered the Chicken Club Sandwich with Greek Fries, and the second time I got Taky's Gyro by itself to-go. It's a nice, modest-looking restaurant. It does not really stand out in the area but as I was to find out, the food speaks for itself. They are also currently showing the World Cup on no volume, which is a nice relaxing TV option while on lunchtime and eatin in or waiting for your food to-go. Service is great, too! Very friendly guy at the counter the first time, who went over the menu options with me, as well as daily lunch specials ($5.50, not bad). My second visit had a different employee, and he suggested Taky's Gyro (I was debating whether I wanted the pastrami daily lunch special). I later noticed that on my receipt it said my cashier was Taky, so perhaps I was helped by the creator himself, lol (He also is knowledgeable in soccer/World Cup, interesting helpful guy. As for the food: Chicken Club - Wow, it was great. The chicken is incredibly tasty and tender. This one has actual chicken breast chunks/strips, and they do not get skimpy with the amount of meat. It blended well with the soft pita bread, sauce, tomatoes, lettuce, and anything else in there I can't recall. Very tasty and I would def recommend. \ Greek Fries - I liked them. They had a lot of feta cheese on top, along with herb and touch of lemon. You definitely need to be a feta fan to order these. Like I said, I liked them, but you can taste the generic fry underneath still. The ingredients do not fully blend. But hey, enjoyable. Paid about $12 for the meal above and drink. Taky's Gyro w/ lamb/beef - This was full of flavor, perhaps even a little too much for some but I loved it. The Tz.... sauce goes well with this, as well as the Chicken Club. Taky mentioned to me that this gyro comes out to 10 ounces, and it is indeed a lot of food as there are fries added inside, as well as a LOT of meat (I had leftover meat and ate it w/fork). $7, 8 Overall, great good at a great price. Very tasty and a friendly, helpful atmosphere. As others have said, it seems that there are a lot of regulars that know the employees to a degree.

Amazing! Wonderful service, delicious food, and very generous pricing! I've already gone back a second time and plan to make this my regular Greek stop! Food I had that I can recommend: Greek Fries, Hummus, BeefLamb Gyro!

So a friend of mine brought me a gyro for lunch at a new joint that opened up in town and I thought it was just okay. He asked me where my favorite gyro place is and I told him it has to be Cafe Europa! I've only been there once and it was about two years ago but I haven't found a better Greek place since! I also like to order gyros from Cafe Au Lait but I think the price is also a big determining factor. Anyway, I went back to Cafe Europa's yelp page to refresh my memory by reading my review and looking at my posted photos but to my horror, there weren't any!! Sad. I'll have to make an effort to go out to North Sac to try them again and update my review. As for now, all I can say is that Cafe Europa is better than Opa Opa, Petra, Kabob House, and Kabob Gyro Grill IMO. I remember I had their lamb gyro, greek fries and a side of falafel just so that I can yelp their falafels. No specific detail comes to mind but I do remember discussing how much we liked the place. My friend also had a Groupon deal so the food was dirt cheap! Until then, Cafe Europa! Don't disappoint me!!

I wanted to come here because the reviews on Yelp were so high, and I wanted to try a new Greek food place. This restaurant definitely lived up to its high ratings! The customer service was phenomenal and food portions were big. I had read great things about the lentil soup so I wanted to try it myself. It was delicious as well as the chicken gyro.

  • K C.

If this review was based solely on service, Café Europa would earn five stars. My server was incredibly friendly and attentive. But, my food was just okay and a bit expensive for what I got. A falafel, small side salad, and single beer set me back over $16 bucks including taxes and tip...and you order at the counter. The falafel was pretty tasty but was short on falafel and was mostly filled with iceberg lettuce. A little disappointed.

  • Kelly B.

Was excited to try this place after reading all the good reviews, so I used my lunch break to just drive there, pick up the food, and head right back. I ordered the lamb& beef gyro. Got back to work, opened my gyro, and there is no tzatziki sauce on it! There was none on my friend's either. So all it is is meat and lettuce/onions in a pita. So disappointing!! They must have left it off, so as not to get messy in the bag, but then forgot to include containers of it. Just check your order before you leave if you're taking it to-go!

The service here is top notch, they are sooo welcoming and friendly. We LOVE the gyros, I'd venture to say best I've had in Sacramento. The pita is so soft and the ingredients are so fresh, for me the only way to go is the lamb/beef combo. It really is a hidden gem, that has that authentic feel.

  • C K.

I ordered the gyros plate, which sounded good and from the pictures on Yelp it seemed like I would be getting big strips of gyro with my meal...that was not the case. What I got instead were little, reheated, very greasy end pieces of meat. The flavor wasn't bad, but it was very disappointing. The service was great and the employees seemed very nice. However, the food I experienced was not the best. I don't think I would come back here.

Service here is great. I did not know what I wanted so I asked the guy at the register what is good. The guy recommended the lamb kabobs with full detail of what it was. I got the dinner size because I was really hungry. I would come back for lunch because they have good lunch specials.

Food: 4 (authentic, minus the dolmades) Service: 5 Vibe: 5 -- very family-oriented, friendly Conclusion: 100% my favorite Greek restaurant, and I only wish I was hungrier that day and lived in Sacramento I had the lentil soup, dolmades (order comes with 4, I think), and the homemade spanakopita. I asked the server from the start which items were homemade on the menu, and he did honestly share that the dolmades are made fresh... in Chicago. I wanted them anyway but I can say that they did taste a little pre-made. A few days later I went to the Greek Food Festival in Dallas and had the best homemade dolmades I can imagine so I've tasted the difference and I may not order those again. The spanakopita was probably some of the best I've ever had. I'm dating a Greek guy so I've had his mom's (shhh don't tell her) and we've tried making our own, but the freshness and creaminess of the spinach and feta combined with the flakiness of the puff pastry-- and I'm drooling again just thinking about them. The lentil soup really had great flavor profile. Great for a light lunch between meetings!
