Why, oh why isn't there a Daphne's in Sacramento?!?! They're sort of the fast food version of Greek food (and that's not an insult). Who can't use fast, quality food without it being a burger? I'm absolutely in love with their lemon chicken soup, salad, kabobs, salmon, baklava... practically everything! The people who work there are very nice. There's also outdoor seating for those breezy afternoons.

ZERO STARS! I'm not sure why this place is so slow. I've ordered catering with delivery service from here twice and both times were extremely late. I guess I should have learned my lesson the first time, but I decided to give this place a second chance since the food is good. If catering orders need to be delivered to a business at a certain time, the least Daphne's could do is honor that. If you're running late, a phone call would be nice. I understand that unexpected things pop up and make us late, but over 20 minutes late with no phone call (both times), and I had to call them and ask where my staff's lunch was? Unacceptable. I will never order from this place again, or visit their restaurant. Extremely disappointed with their service.

I haven't been to a Daphne's in many years. The last time I had eaten here the prices were high and the food was mediocre. Well at this location seems to be okay. The dinner combo is reasonable for $9.95 you get two sides and two kebabs. The chicken kebab was delicious moist and flavorful. The steak kebab was well sort of tough and blah on flavor. Portions are also on the smaller side so if your a big eater this is not your spot. Overall I was happy with the food, next time I will get chicken only for sure though :) Since most other Kebab places are pretty pricey this is a nice choice when you want to stay within your budget.

So done with this place. I used to love it. It was my absolute favorite. Now, every time the falafel is burnt to a crisp and they mess up the order. Again, my dinner is burned and missing my dolmas. This place has gone completely down hill. Don't bother going here.

This place is in between 3-4 stars for me. Food is always great, but they are slow. Sometimes I've waited over 20min to get food which gets old. It is always clean and reasonably priced. They have indoor and outside seating. Good in general is good for fast Greek. I work in the area and come here for lunch. Love the Greek salad with chicken and their pita and dill sauce.

Soooo this would be my last resort if I wanted Mediterranean again. I think I'm use to real Greek food! My boyfriend got a steak kabob- sadly we're hoping it was beef. He complained that the meat was tough and chewy.. Let me back track- he got the dinner which came with pita and hummus, steak kabob, chicken kabob, fries, and salad. Now let me critique- hummus was alright, chicken was alright, fries with ketchup was good, tzatziki sauce was disappointing! I got the chicken kabob and shrimp kabob with a salad. The shrimp was actually good. One thing I would have to say is that my Bf did complain and he got good customer service!

Atmosphere: 4/5 I think it's perfect for what it is. You shouldn't come here for some romantic date, but it's clean, has a nice layout and some seating outside if the weather permits. There is enough space that you could chill here with some friends without having to worry that you're hogging up some valuable seats. Food: 4/5 Very healthy grub here without sacrificing taste. You'll be happy here vegetarian or not. I frequent this place when I'm not looking to just stuff my face with large quantities of high calorie food. I'll usually order the Mediterranean Veggie Plate, which has Spanakopita, falafel, hummus and some rice/salad. None of the food is top notch Greek or anything, but you'll be happy with the experience for the price. Customer Service: 5/5 Maybe I've gotten a lucky draw, but this place has EXCELLENT customer service for a place that looks like just another chain. Every cashier I've gotten has always been willing to try and help me with an order and a few times I've even been offered samples. Unexpected and appreciated! Conclusion: 4/5 Don't go to this place expecting to have your socks knocked off. But it's very unlikely that you'll have a bad experience here. They are consistently friendly, clean, yummy and reasonably priced. It's a nice place to come for lunch or dinner with a few friends... but do not come here for a romantic date or birthday party. :)

Came her for lunch and the food was terrific. I had the grilled chicken Greek salad and it was delicious. My husband had the falafel gyro combo meal and said it was very tasty and filling. I would definitely recommend this place. Staff was friendly and service was overall great. Will be back soon.

I enjoyed my lunch here quite a bit. Because I read so many reviews praising the lemon chicken soup, I had to start off with a bowl. I can't really compare it to anything else I've ever had. It has a thicker broth, chicken, carrots and rice. There is a lot of lemon flavor, but it's also savory and creamy. Maybe just try it since that probably made no sense. I also had a classic pita with gyro meat. The gyro meat was tasty and plentiful. There was a decent amount of produce, but it helped add a contrasting freshness and texture to the salted meat. The tzatziki sauce they give you on the side was also good. It was a tasty bite.

Excellent falafel! The staff were very helpful with ingredients, etc. We will definitely be back!

Terribly slow and overpriced. This place has gone downhill. Can they be any slower at making the food?

Been coming here for awhile. Gyro isn't too bad. It definitely fulfills the craving when I get it but I have had better too. The place is clean and the staff is friendly.

Steak Pita was the bomb, loved every bite. Went to Daphne's after an extremely crappy experience at Chevys and it sure made up for it. I will be coming back here for sure! Super fresh eats. nom nom

Love it. Crave it. Gotta have it! Whenever I'm near Daphne's, I crave my neck as I pass by and it doesn't take long before my car is parked in front of it! Lamb is heated and cooked on a spindle right in front of you. Hot and delicious street pita gyros!

I like Daphne's. My wife LOVES Daphne's. I had the Margherita flat bread pizza last time I was in. I wish I had stuck to the Rustic Greek which I like better. What I really enjoy is the mix 2 option and that they have good vegetarian options. I am not a vegetarian, but I do try to limit my meat intake. Vegetable dishes are some of my favorites and I love hummus. I go back on occasion.

We really like the food and the staff. We usually get the 3 course meal and are sad that they are being discontinued. We eat here at least once a month and drive across town to get here.

    (5)
  • Danny R.

A thirty minute wait does not make sense. A basic order should not take this long. It's steady but not absurdly busy. I will not visit here again.

  • Rebecca S.

Is this Greek? Or nah!! I was appalled at the size of the meat on the kabob and the quality! The tzitki sauce was thin and well I'm just not impressed! I have had better and won't be coming back! The two stars are for the customer service only!!!

    (2)
  • D A.

I use this location for catering and they always do a great job! The kabobs are hot and fresh but my favorite is their falafal. They recently changed their recipe and now they combine whole and mashed chickpeas, yum! The hummus is great too, I wish they had a spicy harrissa sauce to go with it. Try them out, you will love it!

    (4)
  • Sheldon L.

I was the only one there, yet it took 11 minutes. Plate was sparse, kabobs were mini, flavor meh, pace slow. If I find good Greek I'll go all the time. Not the case here.

Been here a couple times in the last week. Employees have been really friendly & especially helpful & patient when I had questions about the menu. The place is clean with plenty of seating inside & out. As for the food, the lemon chicken soup is where it's at ya'll. The other stuff I've had there is good, but it's the soup that beckons me to return again soon.

    (5)
  • Aimee A.

I had some amazing pita taco things here, but felt like it was overpriced. That's probably just me. I probably won't return but it did taste great!

  • Emily W.

What happened?? What was once my favorite is now absolutely disgusting! Why did the recipes all change? I got the Vegetarian Plate like I always have, and it was just awful. The falafel is a bizarre sour-tasting ball of vegetables and beans, like some kind of awful Mediterranean fritter. Even the hummus tasted different. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back unless they bring back the old recipes. Change can be good, but if it ain't broke DON'T fix it!

Strange how one person can take a 4 star (potential) fast food restaurant down to a 1 star just by poor attitude and rude behavior by the girl at the cash register. The food: Fresh, good flavor (the lemon chicken soup was execelant) at a decent value. The food was brought to our outside table by a very friendly and happy guy. Our experience at the cash register where we placed our order was very different. To sum up our experience at the cash register - all I can say is some people should not be allowed to interact with the public, ever! She was rude and not at all helpful. As I was pondering the menu, spending more time than she apparently was comfortable with (my first time here) she was tapping her fingernails on the counter as if she was discusted with me. Will we come here again? Man that soup was good.

Really a nice place. We've been there three times now and consistently the food has been good and the people always friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. The food comes out actually looking like the pictures and is very flavorful and fresh.

I had the Classic Greek salad. I have had better at other Greek restaurants. The dressing has no flavor. Not bad just not great.

Ordered gyro and greek.salad. Gyro was disgusting, greasy meat and completely lacked flavor. I had to add salt and pepper. I have never had to add seasoning to a gyro. I will not be returning.

They used to sell the best Lemon Chicken here, now they don't :(. But their gyro's are always inexpensive and taste delicious! *Great Service *Inexpensive Food *Peaceful Atmosphere

Daphne's doesn't really have a lot to choose from if you're a Pescatarian. They offer one salmon plate, one vegetarian plate, and two different pizzas. I suppose you could also order any of their salads without meat, but salads can get boring at times. I ordered the vegetarian plate. The food was good, nothing special. I didn't really enjoy the Dolmas. I wouldn't mind trying one of their pizzas. The service, however, was excellent! The girl behind the counter was extremely friendly and answered all of our questions about what was in the food. She was polite and checked up on us from time to time. I wouldn't mind returning for a quick, healthy meal.

The food for lunch is a descent value. My food taste as fresh as can be expected from a place of this caliber. Overall with the nice people who work here I'm glad to come here on occasion for a light lunch fare. I mean come on we are talking mall chain food here but usually you can find a Daphne in a strip mall.

Me and my friend went for lunch right when they opened at 11am and the food was good. Got the mix and match combo with chicken kabob and gyro. Real gyro meat as opposed to Milo's on Foothills who uses pre-processed gyro. 3.5 stars for now. Update Oct 23, 2013 -- chicken wrap I decided to try the Chicken wrap and waited a good while for the order to go, and I had mixed feelings about the wrap. The picture looks so good, and it is good in real life, but somehow I don't want all those ingredients mixed together (chicken, rice, and all the other stuff). So while it is good, I would not get it again because I would rather have a gyro or get a plate. It's gonna be an individual choice on this so you'll have to try it and see. It's good, but not my thing because I don't want all those ingredients mixed together in a wrap. They seem to be unable to handle peak times when there are many customers and they have limited room in the kitchen area so that may be why. The wait is just too long sometimes.

Quick and personal. I wanted a plain Greek salad no meat. I got it within minutes. Fresh and delicious. My dog Max was delighted with the Pita. Next door to my dentist and convenient for an after cleaning refresher meal.

  • Binh D.

Food: The fresh carved gyro was decent, had nice flavor but the meat was a little on the dry side. My complaint would be it was fairly small in size especially for $6. And the accompanying tzatziki sauce which cost another $0.50 was a little too thick. Ambiance: Clean nice design with bright colors. Service: Employees were friendly and greeted us when we came in. Price: Easily under $10 per person. Overall: Definitely not the best Greek food ever, but it will satisfy your craving if you aren't extremely picky.

Came here for the first time and was ordering to go...the guy at the register was no help...I ordered the chicken kabob plate to go and he didn't even let me pick my sides! There was no lines or anything like that when I came in either!

  • Matt V.

You know when you've finished a really great meal, are pleasantly full, and all seems right with the world? Don't expect that at this place. The wait was fine. What bothered me was the discrepancy between the picture of the food and what the food actually looked like. My wife ordered the "rustic Greek" pizza. The picture looked amazing -- but what came out were a few shriveled onions on some sad looking bread. I ordered the falafal, which was equally as disappointing - preformed falafal chunks with what looked like hummus, but what reminded me of something a bird might expel on my car.

Great service, every time. I always customize my order and they always get it right. Last time they took my coupon which had expired the day before. Even though you pay for your order at the counter as opposed to a waiter/waitress they always come by to ask if how everything is tasting, which is surprising since it shows they actually care about the customer and not a tip. They know you could go anywhere for a $10 lunch, and make you feel appreciated for choosing Daphne's. 5 stars from me, and I don't dish out many!

  • Bethany D.

Alright, I would like to start off by saying that I would have given this place 2 stars had it not been for the BAKLAVA. That stuff was worth an entire star by itself! =) The gyro... Ah hem. The meat did not have too much flavor. The whole thing was decent at best. It tasted like they put some kind of sauce in it (not the tzatziki - that came on the side) that was very thin and tasted somewhat like Italian dressing... What the F, Daphne's? That does NOT belong on a gyro. Additionally, gyros are supposed to be piled so high with meat that you can't fold them into a taco - I definitely did that with this sandwich. Sad. =( The best gyros I've ever had thus far in my life came from small, hole-in-the-wall Greek places run by fat, old Greek men. Guess it was my fault for coming to (what appears to be) a very commercial restaurant, most likely a franchise... haven't really done my research. I just know I wanted to try it out. The baklava, on the flip side, was in the running for some of the best baklava I've ever had - it fit all my little baklava standards. =) The bottom was literally dripping with sweet honey and the spices were fragrant and strong. The phyllo dough was light & crispy on the top and chewy on the bottom because of the honey. That was some good damn baklava! In conclusion, I will never go back to Daphne's for a gyro, but if I get a hankerin' for some baklava, I'll be on that place like white on rice.

I have been going to Daphne's for years and they always hit the mark. Whether it's for a quick lunch, to go, big party platters, or just some fire feta, I'm never disappointed. I use them frequently for large events and everyone is always so pleased with the results. The gyros are soooo good and the fire feta is worth making a trip just for that. Highly recommend.

    (5)
  • Amber G.

I agree with most other reviews. We waited for like 20 mins for our food and i had to send one of the gyros back because the chicken was cold. Meat is dry and blan. The flatbread pizza was super delicious but the gyros were just ok. Most likely won't go back. Petras in downtown sacramento is by far the beat Greek I have eatin!

    (3)
  • Matt C.

Not as good as it used to be. I would have to downgrade the entire Daphne's chain based on recent experience. Its "OK" and nothing special.

  • Stephanie S.

I always get the veggie combo plate. The price seems a bit steep, but I can usually split it with my son and we both leave feeling satisfied. The service at this location is good, better than the one on Sierra College Blvd. (where the guy gave me a hard time for substitutions). I don't really care for the dolmas. I've had real, authentic dolmas and these pale in comparison. I usually ask to substitute extra hummus & pita for the dolmas. The spanakopita is always crispy and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the cookies. They looked hard and old, but I took a chance and ordered one if each, and the shortbread cookie was the best! I also love how you can get a tiny bite of baklava for only a buck.

I really use to love Daphnes. Is it authentic Greek food? No of course not, but it use to satisfy my cravings for pita and gyro meat. This location however (the only location near me) has taken a huge turn for the worse. I am basing this review on the last few times I have went, btw, so this can't be blamed on an "off night". I use to be able to get well seasoned, fresh tasting food for a reasonable price from Daphnes. The portions use to be generous and i always felt satisfied with the experience. Fast forward to this Daphnes now. The Gyro meat has been underseasoned and dry as if it had been sitting out for hours. The chicken was incredibly overcooked and tasted like nothing, not even salt. The rice, which use to be my favorite, is now obviously cooked in way too large batches since it is clumped together and dried out, again as if it had been made at lunch time and saved for dinner service. The greens in the salad looks to be of much lower quality. The dressing is still good though I will admit (so is the tziki). The portions have all gotten smaller. Cute how they changed to smaller takeout containers to hide this fact, but the stomach sees right through that. To top this all off their prices haven risen quite a bit. The bill to feed a family of 4 has went up almost $10. I could swallow that if the quality and portions had remained what they were a year ago, i mean I understand small businesses aren't immune to the failing economy but skimping on whats important in a restaurant is a sure fire way to fail. I gave you three consecutive tries Daphne. It's just not working out. And no, it's not me. It's you. Goodbye.

I have seen snails hump that is faster than the service here. Food wasn't worth the wait.

Daphnes has added quite a few new items to their menu. Today I tried the Shrimp Mango Salad, which was quite delicious. The pita bread and tasiki (sp?) sauce that came with it were yummy too. My kid had a pita burger, which he scarfed down along with the fries. We ate on the patio, which always makes the dining experience better. Daphnes can be a little expensive for what it is (glorified fast food), but they frequently mail out coupons....one of which I used today.

  • Steven L.

This place was really great! We got the Original Gyro Pita with the 2 sides and a drink. For my sides I got greek salad and french fries. The portions were perfect and the pita was fresh and tasted great. There was plenty of feta cheese on the salad and everything tasted great. The freshly brewed iced tea was also very good. We will come back here soon. Very reasonable prices for the amount of food you get as well.

    (5)
  • Amy S.

Yummy food, good prices. Just wish that the portions were larger. For around $8 you can get a plate and choose 2 entree items & 2 sides. I picked a steak and a chicken skewer which had less than 2oz of meat on each stick + onion/green bell peppers. (As someone who competes in fitness & measures food...trust me....it was more like 1.5 oz chicken). It was 3 pieces the size of quarters.

  • Kristian O.

I've never been here before and Nick happy to answer all of my questions.VERY neat, clean, and sharpe looking place to eat. The food was WONDERFUL. Definitely a strong "Greek" taste. Make sure if you get a sandwich to get the combo deal. Their pita chips are fabulous. Pita bread is lightly seasoned and that fixed it a unique taste. The food came out warm and it was delicious to the last bite.

  • Brendan P.

I see a lot of 'hateful' reviews for this location, but all of these people seem to have grandiose expectations. News Flash: It's Daphne's! For those expecting something straight from Greece, be more realistic. All in all, my Gyro was better than expected and I'd recommend it to any fellow Gyro snob (like myself). Good stuff and overall a great deal for a quick and proven recipe.

  • Bethann W.

The staff is always amazing and very nice. It only seems like there are only 2 front of house employees, though, because it's always the same two guys every time my boyfriend and I come in to eat. The wait time appropriately reflects the amount of customers in the restaurant. I usually get the fire roasted vegetable pita but in my most recent visit, I tried the garden patty pita burger. It was ok. I put hummus on it as my 1 topping option but I also asked for some feta, but it wasn't on there when I got it. I didn't mind anyway, so I never bothered to tell them. Especially since they were a little busy, so I let them do their job. I wish they put a little less lettuce on it because it ended up all over my plate making a little mini salad. Usually you only get a little bit of fries as well as another side choice, so I just got all fries and I was pleasantly surprised that there were actually a lot! I couldn't even eat all of them since the pita burger was actually filling. My boyfriend is always so excited to get the little flavor shots with his drink since you rarely see that anywhere else.

I love their food & their manager is fantastic! 03/27/2010- Their food quality has gone downhill & they skimp on things like not putting the olive in your salad. Or they arrange the food to LOOK like you got the SUPER Gyros plate, but find it's literally all fluff. I won't be going back. Take out is supposed to be a treat. I didn't feel like this was good enough to even be considered that.

I definitely enjoyed my recent experience here. I haven't been to Daphne's in a few years and this trip didn't disappoint. The real winner was the three course dinner meal they offer. The food was great and it was a good amount, especially for around $9. I'm glad this place is so close as I might be making more trips.

Having a craving for some Greek food, I decided to check out Daphne's this afternoon. When I walked in it was packed, and so I went in hopeful. It was a tad expensive, but I wasn't turned off by that fact. My plain gyro came out to about $6. I ordered To-Go, and I literally had sat down for one or two minutes and they brought it out. Service was quick and very friendly. However, when I actually tried it, I was a tad disappointed in the taste. I've had gyros before that have had a little more flavor, and this one seemed to lack in quality. I'm not saying it was bad or that I didn't want to finish it. It just wasn't as good as I had expected. Their Tzatziki sauce was very tasty though and went well with the gyro. It definitely is Greek fast-food, and should be eaten with that consideration in mind. Those looking for a delicious Greek dinner will want to try somewhere else (I've heard Anatolian Table just down the street is amazing), but those who want a tasty gyro to go and aren't too interested in fabulous taste will love Daphne's.

I love this place! I always get the veggie combo plate minus the dolmas (they're just not my kind of food). It's great because I get spanakopita, hummus, falafel, greek salad, rice pilaf, tzatziki sauce and pita bread for under $9. I also tried a side of the gyros and I thought they were very good and a generous portion, especially for $2.50. I understand it's not authentic, but it's still very good and I've never found anything wrong with the quality of food. The restaurant is always clean and cool and the young lady behind the counter is always quite friendly.

LOVE this place!! Great food! Huge portions! I usually can never finish my plate, WIsh i could, because its so good, but i'm usually full after eating half.. I prefer to get the Gyro Salad! It's my FAVORITE! I definitely recommend this place. Even if you don't like Gyro or have never tried it, they have other meat options... like chicken :)

  • Ted W.

We just tried Daphne's the other day and had to go back. I'm a fan of the Pita burger and my wife loves the Hummus. Customer service was great, although the prices are up there (probably why it was rather empty in there). I would recommend their food if you're not adverse to the prices.

  • Mateo C.

The place looked like an Americanized Greek food restaurant, so my expectations weren't to high to begin with. I ordered the Gyro Plate. The Gyro meat was good, not great, but good. They had fresh Pita bread which was awesome. Overall if you are in Rocklin and are craving Greek food, it will do :)

WOW!!! Are you serious? Matt C. said that if you travel you can be assured... what?!!! I think if you travel, alot, then you can't go here. It will make you sad. Its not a real place. Its like eating at a fake McD's. Not even a real McD's. I'd rather eat styrofoam with some pickled sawdust. The people who did say its yummy only gave this place 3 stars. Damn, I should have yelped this place before! I almost took the food back to the guy to tell him how ridiculous it was. I wanted to give this place a fair shot, and probably sue just in case I died. I got a falafel sandwich and it didn't even come with hummus. The place charged me extra for hummus that was of an odd yogurty consistancy, and tasted like a mustard sauce.... ew... So I paid $9 total and I didn't even get a drink. What a rip off! The actual falafel wasn't even real. It was like someone chewed up a cucumber, spit it out, formed a hot dog with it, and cut/dried it into little round cuts. And you get only 2 of them, the size of 7 quarters. That's it. That's all you get. Nope, no other sauce, no tomato, some lettuce. And the funky hummus on the side. Its not even a decent portion either. Its spread out so you think it is. But nope. Its not. That's all you get. Please support your local greek food retailer and refrain from getting any chain diversions.

Daphne's is a toss up for me. They serve just "OK" food, but do so with stellar customer service, and also provide a clean environment to enjoy your average lunch/dinner in the burbs. They also have an e-mail club so they send out helpful coupons from time to time. For my recent visit, I chose to take advantage of the free entree for my birthday that I recently received. I stopped in and enjoyed a very average entree of gyro meat, shrimp, rice, greek salad, and pita bread. All and all it was nothing memorable. However, my table was clean, the staff was pleasant, and I got a decent meal for the really nice price of "free".

This fast-casual greek place this is a nice diversion from the usual food places. Obviously quality is lower than a traditional greek restaurant, but you pay for what you get. I've been there 4 times and I'd say that its pretty good. Definately a lot healthier than other places. Other people on here complained about the portion sizes, but I couldnt finish my plate so they were fine to me. The salads are quite good in the summer. The owner guy (I assume) is very nice as well.

The cashier was helpful, and the location was clean, but the food was not as great as I was expecting. The chicken was seasoned well, but it was all that I thoroughly enjoyed. I was hoping for more "authentic food." I received my order in what felt like forever, and I was the only one waiting, but I guess it means it was fresh, right? I also did not receive everything that I had ordered but did not find out until after I got home..... That's what I get for trusting them and not checking I guess. Overall, not as satisfied as I had hoped.

Good service. OK food. It seemed like very Americanized Greek food. The salad dressing tasted like standard Italian.

Not a normal Greek food lover, but I am addicted to the chicken kabobs. Great service, but today was the second time this month that I have been there when they are in dire need of swapping out the root beer in the soda machine.

For a "fast food" style restaraunt, quite fresh and a great alternative from the burger/taco/whatev you'd normally eat. Try it out. A lil more $ that McD's, but...Its good!

Over priced for fast food (gyro + fries). I'll only go here if I have a coupon.

We ordered classic pita thinking that we would get the pita with fries as shown on the menu. But the fries are extras. Deceptive marketing. I was in a hurry and did not get a chance to complain.

It is really yummy food at a good price. Your food comes out fast which is nice when you have kids. I love their stuffed grape leaves and their hummus is super!

Not a lot of food on the plate(their portions were small). It was good, but not worth the $$.

Yummy! Cheap, fast and easy place to go for dinner. Great salad, yummy Gyros! I got a combo plate that included side salad, rice pilaf, veggies and gyros for just $7!

I would give the taste of the food 5 stars, but unfortunately the menu shrunk to less than half of what it used to be. Also, they took out the dictionary portion of the menu that was extremely helpful to greek virgins like myself. The girl that takes your order doesn't listen so be patient and check your reciept after paying. The owner or manager guy is really nice. The regular salad is AMAZING. Try the lemon chicken soup... interesting collaboration of flavors, textures, and colors. Their pita and tziki is amazing... I crave it at all times of the day.
