This place is great to take kids. The staff is so friendly and outgoing but if you don't like loud places I wouldn't recommend this place as it is extremely loud ,full of laughter and happy birthday songs. I have to say they get pretty creative with the songs , I love it. The food is a bit pricey but it's worth it... I've gone 3 times now and each time I have ordered the chili frank with grilled onions

After a long day at castel park , my friend suggested we bring the kids here for lunch. Atmosphere was very colorful ,but busy like a non stop train station on the weekends. Didn't like how durning our visit we had a waitress switch change in which our drinks ,food and appetizer came out late even though our waitress advised us of receiving our drinks first before the switch made nope, 2nd we requested a balloon twisters never showed up after 15 mins of waiting kids were left with disappointment with or waitress holding onto our debit card having to wait while she was serving multiple tables. Food is good, entertainers are joyful ,but waiting could be better.

The staff, the prices and mostly the ICE CREAM are good to great! What can I say? The staff and prices are good but the ice cream is great! There should be more of them.

Place was fun, loud but not too loud. Waited about 20min to be seated (but it was the first weekend it opened) Great dining experience. Good food. Good service. Great Ice-Cream. Definitely will be going back

Worst service ever! We ate at an off time, got there at 4:00. The place was practically empty but still had to wait for 15 minutes to be seated. Once we finally got seated, it took 30 minutes to get our drinks. The food was so-so. Never got the napkins we asked for. Definitely not worth the wait. We won't be going back.

This was my first time ever being to this place. I came to celebrate a child's birthday. I had a great time, the food was amazing, as was the ice cream. Unless you are coming to celebrate something you may not want to come here. It can get loud and staff is constantly singing a birthday song. The staff was the friendliest I have ever seen. Being here made me feel like a child, I plan to return anytime I get the excuse.

While I have been here many times before I will post about my most recent visit for my daughters 12th Bday lunch. We obviously avoided the rush by arriving at 4:00 on a Wednesday. We were seated within ten minutes and Paige was friendly and up to speed with the service. We ordered drinks and the garlic fries for an appetizer. Yes, they are great as they pile on the basil, parmesan and freshly chopped garlic. They are to die for if you love garlic, remember though, garlic is spicy when its raw! Within our party we ordered the fish tacos, bbq bacon cheeseburger, the laredo burger (too messy, falls apart and too much going on), the kid mac and cheese, an adult mac and cheese and instead of fries with the others meals they upgraded to mac and cheese as well! As I ordered my adult mac and cheese I nicely requested that the mac and cheese's we all ordered to have plenty of cheese sauce in it, since last time it seemed as though we ordered buttered macaroni, must have been a fluke I presume. Paige understood and we did get plenty of cheese sauce. All our food was hot and fresh and the mac and cheese was good, not great, that title goes to BJ's mac and cheese (sorry Ferrel's)! I bummed a fish taco from my moms plate and my complaint (I have ordered these on a different occasion) is that they revert to serving on tortillas that are not heated/grilled in oil, it taste much better and much healthier! Beware, the kids mac and cheese is not the same as the adult mac and cheese, its boxed mac and cheese, I don't understand why they would serve them this crap, these kids like the good stuff, come on now.

If I could I would give it more stars. The food and of course the ice cream are delicious. But the atmosphere and the employees are hilarious, energetic, and great with the kids. Mitchell is great, FUNNY, and has a great memory. Love this place.

Wow I have not been here for over 27 yes it was a blast food was great and ice cream to die for. Great time, great place, great food.

    - The Skinny - Service: 5 Stars - Server Sierra was very attentive with great attitude & timing. Server Rick was cool too with an AWESOME Moustache!! The employees here are great! Food Quality: 4.5 Stars - BBQ Bacon Cheese Burger ($11.89) - HUGE and taste

What a terrible place. Screaming kids and soupy ice cream.

What a experience, I took my son for a date night and he loved it. I love that's loud and the service was great . My server Owen was awesome . He did trick me but Jeremiah thought it was funny and wants to go for his Birthday in June . Thank you for making this a experience we won't forget . J Moulton

I will start with... If you're looking for somewhere quiet and romantic to share a sundae with your significant other, turn the other way and start running! This place is loud and energetic and typically filled with families. It's pretty fun and the burgers are decent. Those garlic fries though - they give life meaning! I might be exaggerating a bit lol but seriously, they are amazing. Our waiter wasn't very friendly and I'm assuming it's because we were teenagers and he wasn't expecting much of a tip. Thanks for the judgements bro. Other than that, it was a fun atmosphere.

The Atmosphere is very energetic but the Service was not good and the food is ok. I don't believe I would rush back.

I came here for desserts after dinner. We had to wait outside in a line for maybe 5-10 minutes then we were seated. Our server was friendly and sarcastic at the same time. We ordered the "Nacho Sundae" which had ice cream on top of waffle cone broken up into 'chips'. It was creative and delicious at the same time! Yum! It was my birthday so I got a sticker upon being seated with my name and birthday on it! Also, I got a free sundae but I had to do the Macarena. Other parties celebrating birthdays simply got a song of some sort, but no I had to get up and embarrass myself, at least I was game. The servers are all super energetic and they sing every two to three minutes. Overall its a fun and upbeat place with delicious desserts. It reminds me of Fentons in Norcal. I haven't tried the food, but I will probably be back for dinner one of these days. Glad theres a Farrell's in Riverside!

The best part was no wait which was great considering Farrell's is usually packed! The food was good but the service wasn't. I should have known when we were told our server was "a little thing named Hanna," but then turned out to be Dave. Had Dave not had another server bring out our food, then my kids wouldn't have had to wait forever for ranch. As a result their Chickety Dippers got cold and put into a doggie bag. When the hubby went to find the head honcho, he found him in a corner texting. While the honcho tried to make things right by comping a few items, our evening (mine anyway) was a bust. We got some free sundae passes but if we use them, we will try out a different location.

I didn't have any food here, only dessert. So the dessert we ordered was pretty good but it just seemed like store bought ice cream with really good toppings for a very inflated price. I wouldn't care to come back just to get ice cream again, however, I would come back to try out their food. The service was really good and friendly. Also it was cute inside and seemed like alot of people celebrated their bdays here since we kept hearing the waiters singing at different tables.

  • Vannesa M.

I wasnt happy with my past 2 visits and would rather drive to the rancho location this place has shown there true colors. Servers talk bad about customers. Food is cold and not out at same time as whole party or incorrect orders. Management isnt really worried about your concerns if there cameras show a server visits your table smile or not they accept that as good service. They are way pricey to have poor service and bad food go to rancho this place is horrible

I've only eaten here a couple of times and have had different experiences... Food: amazing every time huge portions with great seasonings and great presentation Staff: well this is were my experiences differ I'm a riverside native but live out of state due to the military... Well every time I pay with my card I am asked for an ID. Naturally I pull out my military ID cause it's the only one I use and I usually don't get any weird looks or anything it's not a big deal. However, my most recent visit I had a waiter chew me out telling me that they don't do military discount or care much for military personnel. I was dumbfounded, I hadn't even asked for a discount I simply pulled out my card because he asked for it. When I explained to him I am dependent and honestly didn't care for a discount he went on to say "of course you must be using someone else's hard earned money to pay for your meal" seriously?!! What the hell was wrong with this guy! That was the last time I set foot there....

Cool place for a birthday party! Although they reassured me they would make an exception and seat my party before my son and I arrived (because it was a surprise party), they did not do that... but my son was still surprised when he walked in and saw our friends so I'm not going to let that affect my review. We had a blast, and it was ice cream for days!!!

    (5)
  • Jason S.

The servers are great from the time you walk in till the time you leave. The place is made to be entertaining for both adults and children, although it's aimed more toward children with all the sirens and singing, there is a LOT of sirens and singing. The food is adult worthy though as is the porter float, no crappy kids food here. The prices are a bit higher than they should be but not extremely bad for a rare treat with the kids.

  • Torey B.

Very very disappointing. There were 5 toddlers and 3 adults in our party. We were told we would be seated in 5 mins but waited about 20 mins. Once seated we waited another 15 mins for the server to take our drink orders. We ordered a pitcher of beer, drinks for the kids & two pitchers of water. About 10mins later the server returned with no drink & informed us the beer was not tapped correctly & asked if we would like something else. We then ordered our food. Drinks showed up about 35 mins after being seated. We were still waiting for food 90 mins after being seated. At this point the kids were melting down so We made the decision to leave before our food arrived. I spoke with the manager and he made every excuse in the book. He did comp our drinks & we left. As we were walking out I heard the hostess say to customers walking in that they would be seated in 5 mins & that they're not busy at all. So frustrating!!!

Arrived in the noon hour for lunch. There was no greeter, so we waited for 10-15 minutes while the wait-staff walked back and forth ignoring us. Finally someone came to help us? With about only 5-6 booths being use, we were informed that it would be another 5-10 minute wait. Guess my business is not important to Farrell's. We walked out. Too many restaurants in Riverside who really want the business.

Judging from the reviews of this place, you either love it or you hate it. Given this is my first experience, I have to say it was a bit surprising. We went during off-peak hours (before Noon on Sunday). I had to ask the wife why there were nearly a dozen staff standing around when we entered. Apparently this place becomes crazy busy at various points (as I also noted in previous reviews). Overall the experience was positive. I really REALLY loved the garlic fries. The 1b Hill was more than enough to sate my craving for such. They do have a 2b Mountain you can order, but I would only recommend such if you have 3 more people in your group. The burgers were huge and messy. Not terrible, per se, but I can't say they were out of this world either. Good burgers none the less though. And before I forget, the beer. They had 3 on tap at the time (Bud Light, Hangar 24, and some Mexican beer I can't recall). That's at least better than nothing. Staff wise, I enjoyed the antics that went on throughout our dining experience. Some of those staffers run around like they just finished having a few high energy drinks. Fun to watch, regardless. Great experience and good food. Definitely coming back for the garlic fries and hoping to find a better burger next run. Cheers!

This place is loud! Great for that teenie bop age. Foods good, prices are high. The actual servers/ waiters can be rude but it's like a funny rude and i think they are paid to do it!

Food is okay, ice cream is great, place is nice. Service is beyond friendly. A bit too noisy, but what the heck- it's their thing.

I was excited to take my granddaughter to lunch there today, as my first job was at Farrell's in Huntington Beach some 40 years ago. Unfortunately, our experience was not even close to what I remembered. It was 25 minutes waiting for a bowl of macaroni and cheese for my granddaughter when she said I don't like it here, let's go, I'm really hungry. I went to the hostess and informed her of our experience. No apologies. We just left without anyone offering a second chance. A very bad experience after I praised the restaurant. The Riverside location needs better management.

It's just as I remember. We stopped in to get Sundaes for the kids tonight. It was the kids first time here. The last time I was at Farrels I must have been 10 years old. It's still the same wonderful ice cream. I can't wait to go back and have dinner there. I'm glad your back in business.

Here celebrating my sons 8yo birthday, he face lit up and soon as he walked in, great atmosphere, employees here really stay into character and make it a fun time for everyone. We had a blast, came in for ice cream, no food.

Loved their menu and so excited to take my family here. Unfortunately our experience was one to remember. We will not be coming back. We went on a Monday evening and it took us an hour to get our food. We were seated next to the alarm that they ring over and over and over which completely annoyed us even more. My kids loved the dessert options. The food and dessert however was very good. Our order was well over $100 and when we told the waitress how displeased we were, they took only $8 off of our total. We were very disappointed in how they handled that.

Based on other reviews I expected a long wait before being seated. We arrived around 5 pm on a Tuesday evening and the place was empty. We were seated immediately in a booth at the back of the restaurant and immediately noticed a horrible smell. After requesting and being moved the smell lingered (smelled like sewage). There were 4 of us including 2 kids. We ordered the Philly cheesesteak, chicken buffalo sliders and BLATs. The food was ok, nothing special. The sandwiches were around $10 and came with a VERY small portion of fries. We each had a classic sundae ($3.49 with purchase of meal) which was no better than what you would get at Dairy Queen. The service was a bit lackluster. With the place so empty I got the impression the wait staff wasn't putting out a lot of effort. I don't think we will be returning.

  • Nijole T.

I have been here for my son's birthday and they really go all out here! Super noisy, but fun, the staff is really into it and kids have a great time! The food actually tastes good, though I mostly stick with the ice cream, free sundae on your birthday and a guaranteed good time, great surprise for your child! Prices are average (under $10 a meal, around $5 for a sundae)

Wow, I've been to MANY Farrell's Ice Cream Parlours both in the 1980's and over the past fifteen years as they are branching out again. This is by FAR the best of the new Farrell's. The staff was so energetic, the fixtures and finishes are straight out of the original ice cream parlours. It was 10 miles out of our way and I'm so glad we went! The Farrell's staff really makes a difference. Constant jokes, constant music, I (and my four year old) loved it. The fact that my MIL hates it, only makes me love it more (too loud for her)!

  • Ruby C.

I'm a huge fan of ice cream so when I saw the pictures and found this place, I had to try it. I felt like I was a child again because of all the excitement the workers there give off. The workers really work hard in this job to make it was fun and exciting as it is. Even though I came at around closing time, the atmosphere was fun. There was so many fun things to do everywhere, you could take silly pictures in the mirrors and the menu was unique in how it looked like a newspaper. I came here and tried the Oreo Bliss, it was huge and delicious. There a lot of variety of options and some of them were really funny. If you have children, you can ordered the "Fake Chicken Dinner" which is basically all dessert shaped as a typical dinner. Overall, I really enjoy being in this Parlour and I would not mind coming again!

This place is horrible. Farrell's is a nice place to go for kids but the service is awful they got everything wrong are server didn't even apologize. They have so much going on that they can't think straight. I will never come to this one again.

  • David B.

You have kids great place to come yes its loud but thats the fun of it they make it a fun place to come eat and enjoy good ice cream. David was our server and he made my experience here for the first time with my family one that we wont forget. We will be coming back with my family to enjoy ourselfs. I will be planning my sons next birthday here he loved it. Great job Farrell's for an awesome place that i can bring my family to have a fun time and enjoy.

A very simple review: Food: 2 out of 5 stars (not great and pricey for the quality) Ice Cream: 5 out of 5 stars (just go for that, it's delicious) Ambience: Loud. Yelling, drums, singing, and a siren going off every 3-5 minutes. It wasn't bad for the first 20 min, but after it gets annoying (the siren).

Crazy high energy, like a ridiculous amount of enthusiasm from employees. Celebratory ambiance, great food and endless desert possibilities!

This place is awesome! I took my daughter for her birthday. Service was awesome, even the manager came up and asked if we were ok said happy birthday to my baby girl and they all made us feel at home. My daughter was so happy. The place is pricey but the amount of food you get and the atmosphere does make it worth it. This place is great for kids! I recommend definitely!!!

  • Teresa E.

I've always wanted to bring my kids here and today I was able to bring one of them for a small celebration. We came for dinner and to try the ice cream. Little did we know that it would take FOREVER to get our food. Although I love the atmosphere, that wasn't enough to curb our hunger as we waited for a good 43 minutes. No Bueno for first impressions. However, the food was great and the waitress surprised us by saying the ice cream was on them for our wait. I must say that the waitress was amazing in explaining how she was bothered by the wait and she promised that our next visit will be a 5 star experience.

  • Michelle M.

Fun atmosphere and the service is excellent! The desserts are big enough to share and the wonderfully decadent and delicious... so many variations and varieties of things to try! The sweetest thing that Farrell's offers is their signing servers who make your visit even more enjoyable. Usually reserved for birthdays and other special occasions, they were so kind to sing a custom song for our "special event"- my niece starting kindergarten! There needs to be more places like this- a sweet reminder of a time not that long ago where people came to socialize, eat food, have fun and make memories.

  • Kacie B.

This is the best place to come to hype your children on desserts and let them roam freely as the sweet sugary syrup pumps through their veins and changes them into something unrecognizable and untamed. Nobody here will judge you - the staff is all in on it. They know what their savory snacks do. There's a huge variety for you to choose from. Increase your risk for diabetes whilst riding on the waves of a decadent syrupy sundae, with so many choices for toppings that your brain will explode by the time you finish reading the old-era newspaper menu. Here's what you can expect when your sundae arrives. Initially, euphoria. Where has this been your whole life? Who could possibly craft such a heavenly food-item? What wizard is responsible for this enabler of lush flavors? Oh, is that the waiter? Hello friend. Yes, everything is magnificent. Thank you for making this mouth extravaganza possible by delivering it to me, you steward of good times. The loud noise within the parlor will become music to your ears. It's like you can now distinguish what all these bright colors and cacophonous chants mean. Perhaps you'll even join in, yes, let us celebrate the magic of ice cream, brethren! As you salute your empty sundae cup goodbye you'll begin to feel the effects of the sugar coma you (un)knowingly induced. Oh yes, your body is a battleground now. Body vs glucose and guess who's winning? That's right, you can't, because you can barely keep your eyes open. Man, you're so tired now. Did that sweetness high wipe you out? You bet it did because nobody can pump you full of ice cream like Farrell's can. Less than $10 for that wave of delight? I'll be back next time I want a delectable trip to cloud nine.

Went out looking for ice cream or frozen yogurt to celebrate my god daughters birthday. Looked in yelp. I saw there was a farrels close by. I had been to the one in Brea. That was really fun! They have allot of flare. With old antiques, everywhere. The waitresses and waiters are all very energetic, corky, and fun! The atmosphere is all about good clean family fun. I had to do a challenge. .. It being my second time here. ..I had the Gibson girl, six scoops of vanilla, rainbow sherbert, topped with whip cream, butterscotch, nuts and a cherry on top. I won the challenge, it was tough. All around great experience

  • Stephanie G.

The food was pretty good. I've come twice and had a soup and salad the first time around and a chicken burger with the seasoned waffles fries the seconds time. I got two kids sundae's for my two boys which they enjoyed. However, my favorite was the Diet Coke with Cherry flavor added into it...it was to die for! Great place for kids and a family outing.

Went back to my childhood! Excited that Farrells is back! Like: The garlic fries...literally have garlic (not garlic salt) sprinkled on them. Nice & crispy The Caramel Apple Blossom Rocky Road Wish: The burgers had sesame seed buns

This place is probably the liveliest dessert place I have been too. It is great for groups and birthdays. Service may be a bit slow sometimes, but overall, this is my go to dessert place with large groups. Not the best place if you don't like noise though, because it sure gets loud here.

I stopped in about a week ago for two ice cream orders. One scoop of strawberry and one scoop of sorbet. It was in between lunch and dinner time so the restaurant was not busy. I saw plenty of clean unoccupied tables. Still the host informed me that I needed to wait until a table became available. I waited in the candy area along with one other family and had to bat away a fly or two. After about 15 minutes I was taken to a table near the kitchen. My waitress was friendly. The overall experience including wait time, receipt of ice cream , and eating ice cream took about an hour. I realize that it is a restaurant, but taking into account the nature of my order and that nothing needed to be cooked I didn't think it would take that long. I've been here a few other times and those times I've waited for a seat too, but the restaurant was full. The ice cream was good, but it alone would not make me return.

This is our second time celebrating a Birthday at Farrell's. When I called to make a reservation they welcomed me back asked me about what I might need at the table (high chair, kids menu, etc) when we arrived we were seated immediately. Our server was attentive and our food was very prompt. We were even happily surprised that our server from a few months ago (the fabulous Mitchell) remembered us. Servers kept stopping by to wish my husband happy birthday and they gave him a great rendition of a Birthday version of "Hey Jude" This place is a roaring good time and a Birthday must in our family !

My family and I went to Farrell's for the first time today,to celebrate my son's birthday. Originally I made a reservation for 15 people but an additional 10 confirmed they were coming. I called Farrell's to ask if I can add an additional 10 to my current reservation but they were full. I was nervous about what I should do. Long story short we arrived at Farrell's the manager Preston was so cool he gave me 2 options to accommodate us. He does not know he was a life saver. Our hostess Lani was amazing as well as everyone who helped her serve us. We had a wonderful first experience. I would recommend everyone to come here.

This place is one tent away from being a full-blown circus! There is some SERIOUS energy here (worthy of 5 Cuban espresso shots :P). The wait staff can be described as follow ~ ~The guys doing the drums must have been the energizer bunny in a previous life ~the female servers were perhaps former cheerleaders ~the rest of the staff either excelled in drama class (high school) or had experience working for Circus Vargas. This lively, carnival-like atmosphere w/ an old-fashioned vibe, is perfect to celebrate a birthday (FREE sundae on your birthday w/ lighted candle). Fun for all ages, considering the highly spirited staff. They constantly come around and shout, sing different tunes, and drum away. They even sang "I like big butts and I cannot lie..." (baby got back - by Sir Mix A-Lot), to the people sitting at the next booth. I like that =D yelp.com/biz_photos/farr… yelp.com/biz_photos/farr… yelp.com/biz_photos/farr… At one point they surprised my son (he was caught off guard) because he ordered the biggest ice cream sundae on the menu, and they came over to embarrass him! I mean, they are loud and obnoxious entertainers, but in a good way =) This place just opened one month ago, but it seems to me like these people have been doing their job for YEARS. There's a balloon twister making different balloons of animals, tall hats, etc., and my son ended up with a dragon balloon. yelp.com/biz_photos/farr… You order your food from a COOL paper menu that looks just like a newspaper. yelp.com/biz_photos/farr… yelp.com/biz_photos/farr… Now for the FOOOOOD ~ ~All-American burger w/ fries ($9.59) - Farrell's old-fashioned 6 oz flame broiled burger served on an original onion bun, w/ crisp lettuce, pickle, red onion and tomato. You can add a choice of cheese: cheddar, American, Swiss, bleu, or pepper jack cheese for 99 cents more. It was actually good, but I forgot to request my cheese because of all the commotion going on =(( I requested garlic fries instead of the plain fries it came with...extra fee applied for garlic fries. yelp.com/biz_photos/farr… ~Cup of soup & salad ($6.59) - my spouse liked his cream of broccoli soup, and the salad was decent. He had a bigger lunch than me that day, so he was not that hungry. yelp.com/biz_photos/farr… ~ 2 plain cheeseburgers w/ fries (they looked more like sliders) - my son ate his entire meal. Of course I'm still waiting for the day when my son will eat more than just the meat, cheese and bun!! yelp.com/biz_photos/farr… ~ 2 Farrell's Classic Sundaes for me and spouse ($3.29 each if purchased w/ meal, $4.29 alone) - A single scoop of vanilla ice cream w/ whipped cream, nuts, a cherry and your choice of hot topping: fudge, caramel or butterscotch. We choose caramel for both sundaes. I would order this again! yelp.com/biz_photos/farr… yelp.com/biz_photos/farr… ~Triple chocolate brownie sundae ($8.59) - Freshly made triple chocolate Ghirardelli brownie, hot fudge, almonds, and three scoops of vanilla ice cream. My son had this, and it so happens to be one of the biggest sundaes they have on the menu. yelp.com/biz_photos/farr… yelp.com/biz_photos/farr… Somewhat overpriced (under $42 before tip) for the food, ice cream and a small Sprite. BTW, this restaurant is right next to Castle Park off the 91 freeway. We left Castle Park and made a bee line for this place. We arrived here at 8:15pm. The hostess informed us that we arrived at the right time because the wait had been over 1-1/2 hours to get in earlier that day. They have other locations - Rancho Cucamonga, Brea, Mission Viejo, and Santa Clarita. You can count on this place to keep you WIDE AWAKE after indulging in all that food & ice cream - at least long enough for you to pay the biggie (bill).

Great spot to take the kiddos or anyone else for a special treat. This place is loud in a good way- staff seem to genuinely enjoy the environment and entertaining the guests. The retro red and white diner comes complete with an old school candy shop right as you enter and exit the building. Well played positioning management, well played!! The food was ok. I cant honestly critique too much as I only ordered the slider appetizer. It was satisfying but the highlight of this place is the ICE CREAM!! Everything they do here is JUMBO! You've been warned! The smile on her face when they presented her with the brownie sundae was enough to melt my heart- except it was too cold from all the ice cream I was shoveling down! Hey, I had to help her out- SHARING IS CARING! For birthdays- request the Bieber Song and their rendition of Frozen. Too Funny!! Good times. Great family spot. I'd visit again for sure!

Newly opened in the Riverside area, this ice cream parlor is neither for the meek, mild, nor the weak hearted. How to descibe the surroundings? Loud. Raucous. Bells. Sirens. Servers with highly caffeinated personalities, who also take on the role of entertainers. According to our server, most employees have theatrical experience. That explains why these kids have voices that project like the finest of thespians. And they romp around like the happiest of munchkins. Then there is the Balloon Lady. Not one child was allowed to leave without clutching some kind of a balloon creation, either in hat form or some hand held sculpture. Just try and wipe that smile off their faces. If you dare, try the Tin roof. Vanilla ice cream, real fudgy fudge and enough peanuts to make an entire herd of elephants trumpet in glee. Top it with a generous amount of whipped cream and a cherry on top and you have a really good sundae. Curious if their food items were worthy of a comment, I also ordered a small chili cheese fries. A smaller oval platter arrived, heaped with crispy waffle fries and a not too spicy chili, ultimately topped with plenty of good medium cheddar. Shockingly good tasting and plenty for two. Add to that the necessary ice cream finale, and you can expect to waddle out in a minor food coma. For lack of a better comparison, this is a slice of Disneyland on steroids. Just be forewarned, bring your ear plugs. Or turn down your hearing aid. Oh. And don't forget the Military discount.

I was extremely disappointed with Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour I recently attended a child birthday party at this location found the menu was way over priced for what I had ordered. I had French Dip Sandwich that barely any meat in the sandwich, small quantity of French fries and pickle slice for $12.49 was extremely expensive for the menu item.. The table service was marginal at best. The waiter was more worry about singing and telling jokes then serving food. The ice cream was good, however again over priced. I would not recommend this particular Farrell's Ice Cream to anyone. The dining experience was lousy to say the least.......

Came in here for lunch while on a field trip to Castle Park. This location is within walking distance, and a nice alternative to the overpriced and underwhelming food at Castle Park. Upon entering, we were instantly greeted with all the pizazz and smiles a Farrell's usually has. We were seated instantly. Our server, though I forgot her name, was great. We were taking care of a bit of paperwork before lunch, so she took our drink orders and checked on us periodically making sure everything was ok. Pretty soon we were ready to order and she was back. She had our order in seconds and our food came out in around ten minutes. I have the BBQ bacon cheeseburger and it was great. I opted for the garlic fries because, well, who would want to eat regular fries when they can come with garlic and parmesan? Both were delicious. I'm not usually a dessert eater, at least not in restaurants. I like a little something sweet, but I prefer to hit the road and give my stomach a chance to digest a bit before I go cramming more in my face. Farrell's, and places like it, are the exception. I love soda fountains and 50s diners and I have to get dessert when I'm in one! The table split the holiday sundae. Heaps of vanilla and peppermint ice cream swam in chocolate sauce and were adorned with whipped cream, marshmallow "snow", cherries, and a green waffle cone studded with rainbow sprinkles. The peppermint ice cream was the hit of the sundae, perfectly pepperminty without being over the top. The whole sundae was delicious! Service was top notch. Everyone working was great! We're doing a Secret Santa at school and I caught a glimpse of the sundae toppers for Farrells' "Zoo" sundae. I asked one of the great employees and she hooked me up with one of each of the pipe cleaner animal decorations. Thanks for helping out!!! We did, however, think the location was a little odd. Nothing in the immediate area seemed to bring much business, this location seems out of the way. While it's nice to be able to walk in and have a seat in seconds, we felt bad for the staff that looked bored due to the lack of customers.

We decided to make the 45 mile trek to Farrell's while we had family in town. Although the food was meeehhh and the ice cream was meeehhh its the experience we were going for, oh we experienced it alright. Let it be known the 15 and 16 year old I took, hated the place. They wanted something a little more low key and less loud and obnoxious. I left with a headache. We ordered mostly sandwiches, I ordered the wedge salad, IT WAS SOOOO GOOD. The crispness of the salad with their ranch dressing ohhh so good. ended up putting the ranch dressing om everything from my turkey foccicia sandwich to the french fries they were served with. I ordered the Straw-Ana for dessert, it was much smaller than it looks in all the pictures here on Yelp.

Great place for party's and birthdays. The atmosphere is awesome and I would really recommend this place for celebrating a special day. The only downside to this Farrell's is the pricing. The food is a bit pricy for the serving size but overall it is a great place and the servers are very pleasant.

I've been to 3 different Farrell's locations ( Rancho Cucamonga, Brea, and Riverside ) and our experience here was as fun as the others. Staff is ammmazing and accommodating. Fun, loud, and outgoing atmosphere. We came for dessert only. We shared the mocha nut- yummy, gold rush-yummy. Then my sis and bf couldn't decide so they brought out their list of different flavours, decent variety. They ended up with the triple brownie but with the brownie on the side. Overall, love to come for the entertainment and the desserts. We've had the food before just not at this location but the food is good.

We went to this place on Sunday (4/26/15) at 7:31 p.m (my receipt number is 5557), the employee that took care of me was Allan H. (WE WASTED OVER 30 MIN OF OUR TIME AND NEVER EVEN GOT A REFUND.....BUYER BEWARE) We got there after having been at Kaiser, we just wanted to buy some candy and ice cream to go. It took about 10 minutes to get someone to take our order. Allan rang up my order for one mocha nut ice cream as well as some candy for my child. After about 15 minutes of waiting for our ice cream my husband noticed that other people that ordered after us had gotten their stuff. We noticed that a lady got her ice cream order before we got ours and we had ordered first. She was walking around the candy area with "her" ice cream waiting for something else, then she went up and gave the ice cream back to an employee who who then placed it on the counter near the register for a while before returning it back to the ice cream prep area. I went to inquire why our order was taking so long, it turns out that the ice cream that other lady had been walking around with was ours and not hers. Allan went to get the ice cream again and expected me to take it after if was half melted and also after a stranger had been holding it for a while. I felt appalled by the service and the lack of care, I asked for a refund for the ice cream. Allan went to look for the manager and over 5 minutes later said that the manager was busy and wold be down to talk to me in about 15 minutes. I refused to wait for the supervisor (PRESTON). I told them I was leaving without the refund. I asked the employees to make Preston aware that I left but would be calling back to talk to talk about this incident. I called upon getting home and asked for Preston but again was told that he was busy and couldn't take my call. I left a message for him with Keri (Kari) and she said that either PRESTON or RON the general manager wold call me back the next morning. It is now May 1st and no one bothered to call me back to make this right. I will not be taking my business here again, they can keep my money that they didn't refund. I was planning on trying this place out to have an ice cream party for my childs birthday soon but will not be returning here for such event or for anything else. BUYER BEWARE, YOUR BUSINESS IS NOT APPRECIATED HERE!!!!

If you are having a bad day and come here, there could be 2 reactions: 1. The cheerful waiters can make you cheer up 2. The loudness makes you want to kill someone. So make your decision wisely :) food is filling, just nothing to crave about.

Food was good! Service not so! Well our servers did as best as they could but the kitchen not so! I back up in the kitchen waiting 45 minutes for food and missing fries on meals kids getting meals last. This shouldn't happen when you run a place like this! So that's why the 3.

Love this place! I've been here before and it is always a good experience. Expect it to be very loud. The workers are always walking around and singing to different parties that are celebrating something. All the servers are so so so friendly and outgoing! The interior is so unique and looks like a real old fashioned ice cream parlour. There's booths and tables and even a bar where you can sit and eat ice cream. I highly advise you to make a reservation, especially with a big party, because the wait can be a while. I am giving 4 stars because the food did take a little while to come out but otherwise, it is great. The food is great, but a tad pricy. I underestimated the ice cream. Let me tell you, two scoops is A LOT! I couldn't finish my ice cream! The garlic fries are good and the chili cheese fries are the bomb! Bottom line, this is a must see! Make a reservation, expect to spend money, and prepare to be impressed!

Don't waste your money on food here. It's way overpriced and the portions aren't great. You're paying for the entertainment, which I will say I did enjoy all the chaos. However, I wouldn't return for a meal, only dessert, which is also over priced. $10 for a sundae? Really? For what we spent on dinner and dessert, we could have went and got steak at nice restaurant.

Their most popular ice cream recommended by our server is triple brownie sundae and I am overly disappointed with the quality of. For $9 the brownie was very dry and powderish. The vanilla ice cream tasted like it came out of those gallon plastic container. Not worth it. The customer service was excellent however, everyone was enthusiastic (: they sang my friend a happy birthday song and a free fudge sundae. I had a great time talking to the servers, they were very humorous (: -------- 12-01-2013 Nacho ice cream 4/5 $9 One scoop mint chocolate, chocolate, and vanilla covered in bluberries and hot fudge. It sits on a platform of waffle chips. Very big portion, I recommend sharing with a companion. Customer service 4/5 Superb as usual

The food was just ok, the servers were very nice but the overall experience was terrible. We waited an hour and a half for our food. Half of our table had food while the other half waited and waited. One of our guests still had no food until my husband walked into the kitchen and informed the manager. There were problems with every part of the experience. The manager told inappropriate jokes and spent too much time visiting instead of correcting the kitchen issues. I don't plan to ever go back!

What a great place to celebrate a birthday!! Celebrated my little sisters 10th birthday! The food was amazing (simple but good) and the energy was high!! Great service! Ice cream sundaes were awesome!!! Cheap! Great for large groups and no reservation needed! Also, close to castle park so the party can continue!

Perfect place to celebrate a birthday, no matter what age. Food is delicious and extremely generous portions. What really stood out was the best strawberry cream soda I've ever had in my life. Can't wait to comeback and try some more of the many combinations on their menu.

Went in on a Thursday just before 5pm. It wasn't busy and actually it was quiet and that was surprising because it's always been its usual loud self. We were seated within 4 min they told us Christine would be our waitress and she would be right Over (Place wasn't busy). She never came by to welcome us and we waited for 15 minutes before we got up and left. She lost out on a great tip. I won't be going there for a while and that's a shame because we love This place. What a shame that the manager slacks off on his/her staff on weekdays late afternoons.

Me, my girl and her family went to Farrell's after enjoying the rides next door, at Castle Park. The decor and ambiance of the Riverside Parlour was great and full on energy. I came in and felt like a kid again when I walked through the doors. This was my first time there and it was a really nice experience. Our waitress was nice and super funny and would check us several times to see if we needed anything. me and my group notice the crazy birthday/ you just finish some bomb ice cream type of songs. that night almost had 15 within a hour and you can see that the servers weren't expressing that much joy at the end. I went to an ice cream joint and didn't even get to try the ice cream :( but I will next time. I did try the Talk of The Town burger that was very tasty and juicy. Was a bit disappointed about the fries they gave us. Wasn't a lot and hot enough.

Ice cream and experience review only (we didn't have the food): This place was just a bit too much "interesting craziness" for me, my husband and sister. It was WAY too loud!! And we went for ice cream, but they only have 4-5 flavors. This place isn't about the ice cream, its about the atmosphere. So if you like loud, crazy characters then you'll like this place. For me, I'd rather just go to 31 Flavors.

The ice cream, food, and atmosphere alone would guarantee thus place a 5 stars, but the noise. The first time I came was with my boyfriend, and we sat away from all the bigger tables I guess you could say so the noise wasn't so bad. But the 2nd time i told my friends all about it and they all joined us, there was about 6 of us. And we sat right near the horn where they play for everyone's birthdays......and there is ALOT of birthdays....my friends were totally disappointed because not only could we barely hear each other talk. Our waitress had told us she was going home, and introduced the new server who would be taking over for her. Which we thought no big deal, until the we noticed she kept serving a table of 7 across from us, and our other server dosappeared. She never came to check up on us or nothing, and we fogured ok let's ask our original server. But she would ignore us completely just to serve that other table. And we all kept wondering, "wasn't she suppose to go home? Is she only serving them for the bigger tip?" And she was a great server, we would have tipped her well...But the fact that she did that and kept ignoring like if she truly is off the clock, got us a little upset. And the server who did eventually take over, was horrible. So I think the horn needs to be dealt with a little more calmly if possible, and other than our server. customer service seems pretty great to us.

A great place to bring kids, if you don't mind the sugar rush afterwards. Farrell's has pretty good American cuisine and amazing ice cream desserts. It is VERY loud due to birthday celebrations that happen 5-6 throughout an average meal and dessert time. Make a reservation because it gets busy.

If you dont mind the loud Fun atmosphere, this is a great place for anyonebyo CELEBRATE anything! Id say tnhe servers are singing a song for a birthday or anniversary on average every 5 mins at least! The kids really enjoy it and they actually surprised me on how well they adapt the songs to the occasion or person. They did a Farrells birthday verson of "do you want to build a snow man" for a little girl who was dressed in a Frozen character dress . Food is decent, Dessert is excellent (alot of choices). Will definitely continue to come here!

  • JOHN W.

This is one of those REAL experiences that families alike from near and far will enjoy. We had come to Farrells to celebrate our daughters 12th birthday and were welcomed with the smell of hot fudge and fresh baked brownies. Being one of those loud and notorious for celebration restaurants, Farrells was loded with birthday drums, sirens, party lights, and more. Farrels is the perfect place to bond with your family, have a great time, and get boozed up! I mean, where else can you celebrate your kids birthday while hitting up a few glasses of wine and beer? The food was okay, bearing in mind that we are not here for the food but for the service. And service indeed we got. There are a ton of really cute waiters and waitresses. And great service. We got a free Sunday for birthdays, be sure to pick one up. Four of us shared a three scoop ice cream. And it was still too much. Will come back.

Currently standing in the lobby, they told us a 25-30 minute wait 30 minutes ago, and I've noticed every guest is being told 25 minutes to be seated. Something's not right here. After waiting over an hour we finally got seated. The restaurant was fairly busy, so I am understanding about the hectic-ness of the place. Unfortunately I just felt rushed and didn't really feel taken care of 90% of the time. The portions of the food we're large and awesome, definitely filling. My French dip was fairly bland though. I'll give it a 2 over all, if say try to be a little more genuine and less rushed a around for your guests. And be honest about wait time, good service is worth the honest wait.

I was not that impress with the menu prices especially for the ice cream - overpriced thrifty ice cream. I will definitely go back for more tge All American Portobello mushroom burger!! Also, the service was great here!

Ohhhh my goodness, this was such a fun experience. I've always wanted to try Farrell's, after seeing gigantic portions of ice cream on television in one of the gazillion food shows.... dream come true! Haha, just kidding, that's kinda dramatic. But it was really fun though. My hubby and I went inside to put our name down, because a line was forming outside. Turns out, you actually sit in line first (there are benches for waiting), and then a hostess comes out and puts your name down on a list. We came on a Saturday night at around 9pm, and waited for about 20 minutes for a table for 2. Not too bad, considering it was pretty busy. The atmosphere is super lively, bright, loud, and colorful. Don't expect a quiet romantic or conservative evening here. No way. It's noisy with the workers singing for this event and that event... and the lights sure will keep you awake. I mean, it is super bright in there - they probably have an outrageous electricity bill each month. I ordered the Rocky Road ice cream, and my hubby had a Vanilla milk shake. Everything was delicious!! Can't wait to take some friends here, or take my kids here in the future. I'd love for them to get this experience. Totally makes you feel like a kid.

Place was awesome the first time. The chili cheese fries with bacon are amazing! It is pretty loud and you will probably get interrupted a lot! Who cares, it's all fun anyways! The second time we went there, we actually went to celebrate two birthdays; however, the waitress felt that "We didn't want our free sundaes" (For the birthday girls) and did not bring them out. She also wasn't going to have anyone come sing until we asked her, which kind of made me feel guilty for asking. Besides that, other employees made up our experience without knowing about the issue. All in all it was good. We aren't complaining, and we will be back to celebrate more birthdays!

Came in during my lunch break. Party of 4 seated quickly because it was fairly empty and had just opened. Server took forever to come to our table and take our order. Food took even longer to come out. Fair portions for the price, nothing special though. We hardly saw our server during a slow traffic hour. My rating is strictly based on super slow service. What should've been a 45min-1hr restaurant visit took over 2hrs! Really Farrel's?!

I've been to the Brea location and it was great! Now going to this place...not so great. I went on a late night expecting a quick grab of ice cream and its not what I got. The Brea location had an outside option of grabbing your ice cream to-go but this place REQUIRES you to sit down, order your ice cream (pay tip) and be on your way. It was EXTREMELY LOUD for my taste. It's great for birthday parties, special occasions and kids. But if you're in need for a quick ice cream fix without the hoopla the--Go elsewhere! Waiters and everyone was so nice but all the crazy singing and extremely unnecessary use of a horn really ruined all good things about this place. Ice cream ordered: Chocolate malt crunch: delicious as usual but it tastes exactly like the one at Rite Aid. Mint chip: standard mint chip, nothing special Mocha sundae: too sweet that it will probably give your diabetes by the time you walk out of the place. Tip: Food looks good but mostly everything is either fried or given in a crazy, heart-clotting amount.** If you decide to bring the kids here, be warned that they might be up for a couple of days because of the amount of sugar that's in all the sundaes and shakes.

We were served a burger that was literally BLOOD RED RAW! When we sent it back, the server even commented that it looked disgusting. The server came back and asked if the person in our party wanted a new one. She declined and decided to just have dessert. We never got an apology, the item was never removed from our bill, we were not given any compensation to use on a future visit. This location has terrible customer service. Our server was nice but a manager should've come to our table and acknowledged the issue and something should've been done about the bill. We will NEVER go back. The rest of the food including the "famous" ice cream was only fair anyway and definitely overpriced!

I love it here! The staff is super friendly. I love to hear the songs. I love the decorations and the candy shoppe in front. I love the vibes and all the smiles. I love the food. This place is fun only if you have children. The ice cream is par and the food, well. Yeah. Again, I say it's cute for birthdays or for celebrations, but in left with a headache and it wasn't brain freeze. You have been warned.

The first time I came here was with my girlfriend expecting a nice date where we could share a banana split sundae and chat. No way that could have happened here. This place is very loud because all the servers sing and make jokes and talk a lot. It's a great place to kick back for a birthday and interact with many people but not so great for more one-on-one conversations. I'm not a huge fan of ice cream but the banana split was good. The fruits were fresh and the ice cream didn't melt as fast as i was expecting. I came here a couple of times since then and I can sum it up to this. Loud ambiance, wired waiters/waitresses, COFFEE MILKSHAKE IS AMAZING.

Where do i start. i thought it would nice to step out and take my girl out for a little dessert. Well to say the least i wont be going back to this establishment. service was decent but the product was terrible. my girl order what we thought were onion rings and within two minutes of the order being placed, she had an order of what looked liked shoestring onions. she had a build your own sundae with a STALE A$$ BROWNIE. she said it was dry and not very good. i had apples with caramel and vanilla ice cream. that was not worth the almost $8 for that. i ordered a sundae for my son to go and got a small container of ice cream. didn't really want to complain to avoid someone screwing around with a new order. if you ever saw the movie "WAITING" then you can relate. i was so pissed and disappointed and should have gone to denny's instead. at least their dessert is pretty good. there is no way all orders combined (THREE SCOOPS OF ICE CREAM totaled) should have cost as much as it did. PEACE OUT.......FARRELL'S. was considering reserving a date for a future birthday party.....NOT

Not what it used to be 20 + years ago. Overpriced and under quality. For being billed as "An Ice Cream Parlor" they really missed the mark Big Time Food: The philly cheese steak and french dip are the same meat dressed differently but both are passable; the burgers aren't mind blowing, stay away from the chicken sandwich-small chicken pieces with low grade lettuce on all burgers/chicken. The fries with sea salt standard are ok, all in all; it's greasy diner food and not Diners Drive-In's and dive needle in the haystack but rather.. Denny's quality. Dessert: STOP Thief's; low grade ice cream with super thick containers; what a sham, half a scoop of ice cream made to look like large portion due to the container format...for $7 ice cream; you should get either VERY HIGH quality or large quantities. WHAT A RIP OFF..DON'T EAT DESSERT HERE.. Service: Good luck with that...1 meal didn't come as ordered and 1 desert had to be sent back due to it not being what was ordered either. Wait time for food isn't bad. Ambiance: If your a little kid I suppose the noise level is fine; lots of singing for bday's here since it's that kind of place decoration wise and balloon animal wise, Restrooms: Denny's quality level Price: EXORBITANT and WAAAAY OVERPRICED. Burgers and sandwiches are all $10 - $15 Apps are $7-15 Desserts are $7 and Higher for a scoop of ice cream...no comparison to cold stone or any other place including Baskin Robbins. Balloon animals etc..$2.50 - $7 per creation Candy on entrance/exit $0.10 per piece of candy the size of gum drop. On top of that they are trying to sell everything here, seems like breathing is gonna be charged at some point. 5 adults + 1 child = $130 They are living off the nostalgia of the older parents and adults who remember it's peak in the 1980's, this is a 1 visit place and never return.

My Dad told us he had a surprise for his grandson. When we pulled up, I had instant warm memories from my childhood... Birthday Parties and Jawbreakers. It was everything that I remembered and seeing it through my sons eyes might have skewed my vision a bit but the food was better and so was the fun factor. Saturday and kids parties galore. One party finished the Farrell's Zoo - One bowl containing 7.5 lbs. (30 scoops) of ice cream + toppings + etc. Finishing that monstrous concoction allowed the children to run around the restaurant following a drummer, yelling their little sugary heads off. It was fun to watch...this is a family restaurant so if you don't like noisy places, this isn't for you. Service was wonderful. Kellie dealt with my dad's incessant corny jokes and one-liners with grace and even added a few of her own. She handled him well for someone so young. He was in heaven. Food: started with a small sized Old-Fashioned Onion Mountain. Thin, crispy, flavorful shoestring onions served with sauces. We opted for barbecue and ranch dressing. The three of us ate to our hearts content and can't imagine the large size. I had the Chopsticks Chicken Salad - really good The boy had build your own pizza and a fresh fruit cup - can pizza really go bad for a kid? Dad had BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger with Garlic fries. He loved the burger but not the fries - they were cold but Kellie took them off the bill. The boys topped their meal off with Root beer floats. By the end, the boy was laying down in our booth, we had a whole bunch of doggie bags and I walked out with a jawbreaker. Success!

Pretty standard American food, sandwiches, salads, fries. Great fun place for kids and ice cream lovers ! The sundae combinations are endless. The staff are all friendly and happy like they're on crack but I think it's a requirement to work here. They sing different songs to the tables there celebrating birthdays or what not. Loved the menu, super cute.

This is probably one of the most unique restaurants I've ever been to. It's friendly, vibrant and puts a smile on your face immediately when you walk in. If you can find one of these in your area, I recommend you stop by. They have great burgers, excellent sandwiches and delicious ice cream, which is what they are famous for I think. The staff is very helpful, especially since we told them it was our first time. Oh and if you want to embarrass your friends for a special event, go here!

Farrell's its been along time but I did return with a big appetite. This time I returned and got a root beer float and chicken salad. It's a great place to bring family and friends for some good old fashion fun and games. Great food, service, and vibe. What else can you ask for? More napkins? 5 please.......

I came here a couple of weeks ago for my birthday dinner with my family, it was awesome! Our waitress was friendly, on top of everything and so gracious dealing with such a big group. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was so much fun. Definitely a good place to go to if you have kids! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because there was one hostess who was incredibly rude to both me and my boyfriend when we had a couple of questions about when we were getting seated and stuff, I forget her name but she had a pixie cut with bright orange hair. Anyways, every other server we encountered was lovely and overall it was a great experience!

Came in for my nieces birthday. Great place for kids. Balloon animal artist walking around, servers singing everywhere, lets just say its loud in there. Our party ordered about 6 assortments of different ice cream sundaes and desserts. All of them were mediocre at its best. But I guess you pay for the atmosphere? Won't be back.

Place was cool. Enjoyed the singing and fun atmosphere. Food was ok, ice cream was good. For people who are complaining about the noise, this is what Farrell's is all about. That's just the way it is. Take your old middle aged self to Chili's if you want some peace and quiet.

Where to begin? I'm conflicted about this place because the atmosphere was a blast, and it seems like a fun place to go with a group. So why the negative review? Our party of three spent nearly $60 on poor service and food that is barely on par with Dairy Queen. Expect a long line to get in the door. That's just the way it is. Our server was the nicest guy, but he also screwed up every single aspect of our order. I'm not kidding. Every single thing was wrong, and he didn't even know the difference between a waffle cone and a sugar cone! That's right, I paid an extra $2 for a waffle cone, and when he brought me a sugar cone he didn't understand the problem. It took close to 40 minutes get this order (which they screwed up): 1 Personal Pizza 1 Chili 2 Chicken Strip Plates I worked at Johnny Rocket's for over six years, so I know the drill. Chicken strips and fries take only four minutes in the deep fryer, and chili requires merely that you scoop it. For reasons unknown, they brought us kids orders of chicken strips, and soup instead of chili. The kids meals cost the same as adult meals, but half the strips are replaced with fries. When we got them, the server didn't even know how many strips the meal was supposed to have, despite the menu saying four. Having served all those years, I am always extremely patient and courteous with food service employees, but this guy put me to the test. And the food itself? As chicken strips go, they're pretty lousy. You know, the kind with more breading than actual meat. The pizza was not only luke warm, but seemed like the microwave variety, although I can't prove that. But this is an ice cream parlour, right? Surely that would be the saving grace. Unfortunately, their ice cream is overpriced quantity over quality. I was thrilled to see that they actually cook your waffle cone in front of you, but it helps when your server actually knows what a waffle cone is. After sending back the sugar cone he served, the waffle cone they made me was burned. How hard can it be, people? And for all of the spectacular sundaes we saw coming out of the bar, the ice cream itself was rather band - I'm talking generic brand stuff. I've had better ice cream at McDonalds. Like everything else in this place, it's just for show. Bottom Line: Don't go for the food. Don't even go for the ice cream. This place specializes in one thing: atmosphere; and you won't even get that without waiting an hour in line. For the same amount of money, you could have a better time at Castle Park across the street.

Old Fashioned Ice Cream. Mmmmm... I came here on my birthday (on the 8th) and had an excellent visit. The food is good and especially the atmosphere. When you first walk in, there is a buch of candy on the walls and hats. The menus are made of paper. The theme is like the 80's/50's. Very nice service and waiters. Our food came quick and was cooked perfectly. If you remember the old ice cream parlors, come here! DELICIOUS ICE CREAM!!!

Maybe its all nostalgia but I love Farrel's. Food is standard and fine, but lets face it, its all about the ice cream! And the ice cream choices are just as I remember them -- creative, fun and tasty! So here's my advice for the place-- make sure you ASK your guests if they mind sitting by the big bell they ring every 3-5 minutes for special orders and occasions! It is LOUD and if you happen to be seated near, if will seriously get annoying after 20 minutes. Now mind you, I'm not say stop the ringing (that's part of the fun), but give your guests the option! Also, it is HARD WORK being a Farrell's server -- you're running everywhere, singing and dealing with dozens of people. The problem comes when you have someone who's been working a long shift -- not only can their uniforms be dirty with ice cream and food stains, but in the case of a few of the more burly servers, they are sweating. This is NOT an attractive thing to see on someone handing you your ice cream and spoons. The lines are out the door on weekends guys -- bring in a few more servers to allow for clean up and to rest your hard working crew!

I was so looking forward that mt st Helen challenge and I did it and at the end was disappointed of not getting a song or ribbon at all, the ice cream was good but the service was bad, very dissappinted.

A complete family friendly place, still hasn't changed since I was a kid when they used to have a location in Rosemead, This place is a great place for adults and children and it's hilarious. If u like quite I suggest you stay away from here because it does sound like a circus is going on with all the drum pounds and bit day song going on with lots of happy hyper staff! Lol

I came in here not having ever heard of this place and had one of the greatest dinner experiences of my life. Sadly I have a horrible memory of names, but our server was fantastic. She gave us some great suggestions of what to eat and gave us some "extra cherries for our cherry cokes"! She was on point with getting anything we asked for. The whole staff are full of energy and are jumping around the place. (Not literally Jumping, well kinda). One person I can't forget, was the server named Mitchell. Atleast I think that was his name. He walked around and played the drum for people's birthdays along with some cheesy, but hilarious jokes. I have never seen someone with such excellent service. Congrats to the whole staff there. I don't doubt they will be successful. I'm definitely coming back many times. On a last note, they made my cousins have a dance battle which made my day :)

Talk about a blast from the past! Farrell's was around when I was a kid, and my family and friends went often. I remember large groups of friends from high school going to Farrell's after a school function. But some time in the 80's I believe, they disappeared and I thought they went out of business. I guess they kept a few locations open but recently built a new one in Riverside. I took my boyfriend for ice cream on his birthday and we enjoyed not only our desserts, but reminiscing about the past.

First time for me but my wife has been to Farrell's many times, having grown up in Portland, where Farrell's originated -1963. The occasion was our sons 3yo bday. It was great! I've learned it really only mattered if he had a good time. And he did. Rick made him a cool balloon puppy and was quite entertaining to all of us including our 13 yo twin boys. The food was satisfactory and ice cream fantastic. The overall visit was great and we will def be back to Farrell's.

This place was like an episode of the Twilight Zone. Loved our experiences at the Fullerton location, fun and festive every time. This location? Not so much. The food was good. Didn't eat ice cream. The service was 4 stars. But they didn't play music!! It was like going to Medieval Times and they decided not to joust. I gave it a 2 because we took out 2 year old there because we love the fun atmosphere and the music, but they played TWO songs the entire hour we were there. We thought, New Year's Eve, our kid loves his instruments, the one in Fullerton is always fun, there's no better place! Well, McDonald's would have been more festive, and cheaper. I didn't pay $85 for decent sandwiches just for you to only play a song after we asked you nicely THREE TIMES. They nicely said "haha yeah, a song, totally"...but still didn't play until I asked the 3rd time. Look, I was a server for years, so was my wife, we get it, things happen, but it was just awkward. They employees were super stoked to go home, they were doing sideward, but you had 3 hours until you had to close. If you aren't going to do your job and create a fun Farrell's experience, at least turn on the radio! It was dead quiet, you could eat people chomping their food and employees talking about New Year's plans. I felt like we were at a truck stop. Wish I wouldn't have gone to the one in Fullerton, because they set the bar so high! All this to say, ultimately, it's the manager's fault. I shouldn't have had to awkwardly say "no seriously, can you at least play one song for my toddler? Just one song, he keeps saying 'drum drum' and I'm now feeling like the worst parent ever for promising a fun experience". So, if you want to hear crickets and have overpriced sandwiches in a clean but silent environment and beg for a song, come here! But McDonald's actually has music, it's predictable, your kid will love it, and hey, it's cheaper too.

We came here for my sons birthday, we ordered a salad, my kids split the cock-a-doodle tenders, there was four tender strips, they didn't come with fries, so I ordered a side of fries, which was very disappointing because it was literally a handful of fries on a small plate. The ice cream is really good and they also bring out a free Sunday for the birthday boy and a birthday song. Family friendly place...My son felt really special in here...so that's a plus.

I'm eating a Laredo Burger, which has garlic - roasted Anaheim chilies, pepper jack cheese, avocado, tomato, lettuce and a Chipotle sauce. $12.59 I got fries with toppings: basil, garlic, Parmesan cheese, guacamole, & cheese sauce. $2.29 + $1 for extra toppings. There's plenty of parking at this location: Riverside, CA.

We came here for my daughters 3rd birthday, we had a party of about 13 people. I made reservations online which was pretty simple to do and when we got there that day of her "party" on August 8th there was no problem getting seated they were very sweet to my daughter and gave her a sticker with her name on it. Our waitress was very prompt about getting our drinks, not everyone was there yet but when they got there she was very good about getting their drinks also. Now I came here because Farrells is supposed to be loud and obnoxious and crazy and thats what I wanted my daughter to have on her birthday. Literally it was DEAD. There was no real excitement until someone had a birthday at another table and they sang. I came here when this place first opened and it was loud and crazy and they had people doing balloon animals and beating on drums and singing out of no where. Yes they sang to my daughter but this is not how farrell's is supposed to be. The food was good but there were seriously a TON OF FLIES. Everywhere which made it kind of un appealing. Overall I am just really disappointed that I took my daughter here for her 3rd birthday for excitement and really did not get that at all.

Horribly long wait but once your seated everything moves along pretty fast. Food was good however very pricey. I would say either go for food or just ice cream but not both. Serving sizes are pretty big. The employees were awsome, funny, very lively and attentive.

I go here for the dessert which is amazeballs!! But more importantly, as a lactose intolerant person....they have lactose free vanilla ice cream!! But I will admit I've tried nearly all the flavors. The coffee flavor is yumo! For kids, they have an ice cream dish that looks like a turkey dinner! The chocolate soda is worth a try as well. They have a cool little store with odd candies and sodas but the prices are a little high. The environment is super entertaining, loud singing, sirens, drums, clapping, dancing, and bells. My suggestion, don't go anymore than once every several months. It's kinda like an overwhelming food amusement park that is thoroughly enjoyed when you don't go so often that you can predict everything you see. If you have high anxiety...lol...take xanax before you go :-) Jk jk.

Food was eh. Thrifty ice cream is way better. However, it's a great place for kids. It's very loud and there's always a song being sang somewhere.

This was my first experience at Farrell's and initially I thought I would have to wait a very long time because the line was very long but the wait wasn't long at all. Walking in I was taken back by the energy in this place. There were songs excitement and a beating drum. If you want a little fun go here if you want a quiet romantic place I wouldn't recommend it. The food was good but not mind blowing and the ice cream was very good as well Overall I had a good experience I recommend it for anyone with kids they will love it. Plus It was a first to see a 30 scoop Sundae wow!!!

The food & lactose free vanilla hot fudge sundae A M A Z I N G but way TOO LOUD! Annoying loud! They could seriously lower the nonsensical noise & energy & it would be just as good & far more enjoyable! Somebody take that dang drum out or provide mild sedation to help people survive it!,

Been wanting to try this place since it opened. We kind of felt like we were on Main Street at Disneyland here. I couldn't believe we walked right in and got to sit down...the other couple of times we've tried to come here it's been almost a 2 hour wait so we just left. We had an okay experience. It was SUPER loud and crazy there, so be prepared...NOT a good first date place LOL. Lot's of kids running around like crazy people, balloon animals, sirens, drums, etc. We all thought our actual meals were average. Three of us got burgers that were fine, but not outstanding in any way. One person got the "Fabulous French Dip" and he didn't really enjoy it. When you sit down, they ask every table "What are you celebrating today?" I guess the assumption is that you only go there for birthdays (understandable since you get a free sundae that looked pretty decent). When they asked us it was a little awkward since our answer was, "Ummm Thursday?" We did not see ANY other table in the place that was not celebrating SOMETHING and awarded with a song and dance and a free sundae. This place is obviously meant for dessert. They have a TON of different ice cream concoctions and they all look awesome. I got the Nutty Nutty Caramel sundae and it was really good. It had a TON of different kinds of nuts in it. My husband got the Golddigger sundae and it was super good as well (butter pecan ice cream with butter scotch sauce and FULL-sized pecans). There were some issues once we received our orders. My friend ordered NO lettuce, tomato or pickles on her burger, but it came with all 3 of them on it. My husband ordered waffle fries, but it came out with regular fries. To their credit, they brought him out a side of waffle fries pretty quickly and our waitress immediately noticed that all the toppings were on the burger when they weren't supposed to be. She was gracious about it and thanked my friend for not sending it back "like some people would do." She also told us that she told her manager about the screw ups and that "hopefully he would come out to talk to us." Nope, we never saw a manager. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning since if a waitress tells a manager to come over to a table for whatever reason, the manager SHOULD come over no matter what. When all is said and done, we decided that this would be a better place to go if you ate dinner somewhere else around 6pm and then went over to Ferrell's at like 8 or 9 for a separate dessert since the desserts way overpowered the entrees. I will probably go again at some point (if for no other reason than to just have dessert) but I'll consider bringing ear plugs LOL Price Breakdown: Our bill (with tip) was $60. For that we got: 1 ice cream soda, 1 cherry coke, 2 burgers with fries, and 2 ice cream sundaes. A bit pricey I guess for burgers and ice cream.

Food was great, but don't leave anything on the table. 30 seconds from our table and the cleaner guy grabbed all of our boxed food and threw it away. Very expensive half of a sandwich.

This place is getting two stars strictly based on their ice cream!! This is an ice cream parlor and they missed the mark big time!! I was super excited to go here thinking we would get a decent size ice cream sundae. We assumed we had to share due to the $8 we were paying for a sundae. We got the mocha nut, it comes in a tiny shake glass (long and skinny) 3 scoops of ice cream?? Are you kidding me. Like 1 1/2 cause they were all half scoops, and the way they layer the "toppings" they were all at the bottom and the middle. So picture your topping way at the bottom a tiny scoop of ice cream, WARM butterscotch then another tiny scoop then HOT fudge and another scoop. So by the time you even get to the 2nd scoop, it was melted and so was the third scoop!! I needed a straw!! So very very disappointing!!! The food was alright. The salad was tiny for being $13 and I just really hope my turkey was fresh turkey sliced off of a turkey and not deli meat because I am pregnant and I should not be eating cold deli meats, but it said fresh turkey! But looked like deli meat! But the sandwich wasn't too bad. Got the onion stack for the appetizer and it was barely warm but they were good. Waitress was good! The place is very loud but that is alright because we went for a birthday so I totally understand why you would bring a child there for their birthday. Food wasn't terribly overpriced. The ice cream was very overpriced for what you got!!! So sad about that, I wanted a delicious ice cream sundae. Put your ice cream in a bowl! Or a large round glass! Not a skinny glass!! Doesn't make sense!!!

Great place. Just terrible service. Waited for our food for almost 45 mins. That's a long long time when your starving. It wasn't a busy night. There's a lot of empty tables and booths plus the waitress took forever to get our order.

Not a bad place... I would say 5 stars just for dessert only! They have a descent selection on the menu, and even healthy salad options, which was nice to see. Definitely cool if you have little ones, but very very loud... It is a Kid Birthday Party type atmosphere. The Staff is of course very friendly, but not as attentive as they could be... never did get a refill on our drinks.

It is a very exciting place to be! The food is good the ice cream is great the entire atmosphere is wild and crazy. Great place for kids. I'm not quite a kid but I love it as well. EDIT: I've bumped this up from one star to two, because the management emailed me (a form letter) and offered a gift certificate. While I'm pleased that they're doing something about the bad reviews, I'm not looking for free ice cream, and other Farrell's that I've visited have had all the same issues. This is less a "give us another chance" and should be more of a "we'll fix our game and let you know when we think we've got it together again". One hour in line. One hour to actually get the food on the table. Another hour waiting for the check. Half the staff looks like they're one hot fudge sundae away from crying. The other half are more excited about ice cream than any living human should be. The manager came over at some point to apologize for the long wait, but that was it. The same day I got a free drink at Starbucks because my cappuccino took two minutes to make instead of 90 seconds. Apparently not content with one ineffectual appearance, the manager came back ten minutes later to compliment our choice of ice cream. Which would be just dandy if he had correctly identified the ice cream that we ordered. Hmm. Do I correct him, making him look like an idiot and furthering an already unpleasant conversation? Or do I smile and nod and thank him for his earnest efforts to bring me the best repackaged Thrifty-brand ice cream eating experience that he can? If I ever have to go back here, I'm going to pretend I'm five years old. Chair-licking, wall-crawling five. That's the only way to enjoy it.

We went for my boyfriend's birthday, in the middle of the week, at 3pm. We had planned it that way on purpose, so we could get decent service and not have to deal with the loud parties that usually populate the restaurant on the weekend. However, we were put in the banquet room next to a table of 12 screaming teenage girls. Unfortunately, our server was more interested in making their experience memorable by interacting with them and ignoring us. Another server ended up having to take our order and take care of us for the rest of the meal. Unfortunately, our orders came out wrong, even though the server put in the orders correctly (she showed us the tickets). We had to send several things back. The manager did come to speak to us to try to make things better, but didn't really do anything to reconcile the visit. Just apologized and requested that we fill out some comment cards. Although our second server was nice and really tried her best, our experience from top to bottom was awful. It's a shame, their ice cream is tasty and their food was pretty decent. But it's so loud, the "fun" is so forced, that we just won't be back. It's just not like it was when I was a kid.

So, I like to think that I'm an easy-going, happy go lucky, all around pleasant fellow. A bright and happy soul that experiences moments of bitterness, as we all do as fits the human condition. Not quite sunshine and lollipops, but more like a york peppermint patty on a overcast day. Here, however, the people working make my normal pleasant self start to seethe into a Bourdain-esq punkish rancor. Snide remarks, horrible jokes, and inappropriate subject matter table discussion? All of that is on deck.. I'm not about to go flipping tables, but I'll be a sarcastic sonofab*tch here. Why? The amount of cheer that the people here have is so high, I swear to my toilet that half the workers here are on adderall. Or some form of illicit stimulant. No, seriously, the workers here were not just happy, but entirely too cheerful. Perhaps it was because it was just me and the person I came with, or maybe it's the fact that we happened to choose a night where 5 little ones were celebrating distinct and separate birthdays. Maybe it was the initial... ok I'll be nice here... mistake of the hostess to allow us seating at the bar (her initial suggestion) when that server had just gone on break. All I know is that something makes me think that the level of cheerfulness here sets off a couple bells in my head and makes me instantly suspicious. At anyrate, dessert was on the agenda, and dessert was had. I had a tin root, she had a caramel concoction. The sizes were generous. I *barely* finished mine, and she got through about half of hers. I foresee a bit of bike riding in my future to burn off all the calories from this place. In my younger years, I would have appreciated the "Dessert as a Meal" option, but now it seems to be far too much. That being said, the desserts were delicious though. While the rag-time-y charm of this place has a certain quaintness to it, the repeated singing of former top 40 songs in lieu of having to pay royalties to Warner/Chappell for a normal rendition of "Happy Birthday" kind of ruins it, at least for my 30 year old self. Baby Got Back as a birthday song? Queens "We Will Rock You,"? All to the music equivalent of a small bass drum and clapping. Thankfully they only use that siren only at the very beginning. Good for little kids, and non curmudgeons. If you have identified with any little bit of me in the above description, just take a pass on it, or go to Knotts Berry farm instead. At least there, they have rides.

We had to wait in line outside to put our name on the waiting list, a little confusion on where the line actually started...either way it was about a 30 minute wait. The food was great with very generous portions. The drink refills were scarce but that could be due to the fact that the wait staff has to sing happy birthday to every other guest there (lots of birthday parties the day I went) I was disappointed that there was no beer available even though it is on the menu :( The focus of the restaurant is making it a fun experience for the kids, As an ornery guy, the atmosphere was a bit much for me. All in all if you want to enjoy a fun meal with your kids, I definitely recommend this place.

I gave Farrell's four stars because it is deserving. The food is good, the service is great and the atmosphere is clean, interesting and very upbeat. I like quiet restaurants...places without televisions, loud music, screaming kids and yep, birthday songs sung by the entire staff at full volume. You won't get quiet at Farrell's, and that's okay because it is expected. Farrell's is a loud restaurant and the servers aren't the least bit shy, but it has been in business for decades and is pretty well-known for their theatrics. Be prepared. They frequently get very busy too. That's because they are popular. It took me about four tries before I finally dined here. I despise long waits, so I simply went elsewhere when I previously saw the lines forming outside. Yesterday I finally had my chance...it was a Tuesday afternoon at 3pm, and the restaurant was only filled to about half capacity. According to their website the Riverside location is their largest, so I might be hesitant to try their other locations. They may fill up much faster, even during weekday off hours. I expect great desserts at this ice cream parlour and it delivers, but what surprised me was their regular menu, which offered a pretty diverse and tasty selection of soups, salads, sandwiches and burgers. I had a Reuben, which was served up with loads of super tender and lean corned beef on very fresh marbled rye. Excellent! I opted for the garlic fries 'upgrade,' and they were delicious as well. Three people at our table had burgers, and they were huge and very good. All-in-all the portion sizes seemed quite generous for the price, which is frustratingly not the case at many restaurants nowadays. As for ice cream desserts, our table tried several, including the Mt. Saint Helen, Oreo Bliss, Ice Cream Nachos, Gold Rush and Mocha Nut. All great, but I had the mocha nut and probably raved the most. Our server exclaimed that it was her favorite as well. The service was top-notch by the way. Friendly and attentive. Our food, water refills and check were all brought out to us in a very timely manner. No complaints whatsoever. Given the overall hubbub I probably won't visit here very often..maybe once a year at most. During our stay we had to endure maybe ten or so birthday 'presentations.' It was fun and each one was done to a different tune, but there are only so many birthday songs, over-exuberant servers, drums and sirens I can take. LOL. It reminded me of Whoville on Christmas (I can be somewhat of a curmudgeon at times, ya know. I still highly recommend Farrell's, especially if you have kids and want to have a very memorable birthday outing. My tip if you are a sourpuss and not celebrating a birthday or other special event...either go someplace else or try them on a weekday during off hours from 2-4pm. It will be a little less noisy then. Food 4, Service 4, Atmosphere 4 = 4 Stars

I was really looking forward to dining here after seeing long lines at Farrell's in Brea. Now that I've had the misfortune of eating here, I'm thinking this location must be doing something wrong. Either that or there must be nothing better to eat in Brea which would be a lie because there's a Taps just down the block. Be prepared for a NOISY environment. Banging, singing, sirens, more banging. This place is LOUD on it's own without screaming kids. Do not come here if you want a quiet meal, or a decent meal, or good service to make up for that meal. Menu was unimpressive so I ordered what would be chicken fingers with a side of fries. DON'T order the side of fries because it is the saddest portion I have ever seen. Tiny tiny plate not worth the money. Also, if I order a side of fries to go with my chicken fingers, don't freaking bring it 20 minutes before the rest of my food. No flavor to the chicken fingers AT ALL. Has anyone ever heard of SEASONING???? Ugh! Trying to nom on one of those made me wish I just went over to Red Robin at the mall. Boyfriend ordered a salad which was a nice portion but the amount of salad dressing they give you is stupid small. You literally will need to ask for maybe 4 sides of dressing just to get a good drizzle; I'm not even talking about drenching the salad in dressing. I will talk about one thing that tasted good - sarsaparilla! Thank goodness too because I really needed something to wash all that down. I didn't get to order ice cream because at the end of the meal there was a lot of internal screaming going on and I wanted to get the hell out. Let me tell you something, it took half an hour for us to flag down our waitress. I think her name was Julie or Julia. We had to ask some other guy twice to hunt her and send her our way. I wanted to order a refill on my drink but after that wait? It was over. Then it took another 15 minutes just to get our check and ffffffff you cannot make me go back. If you insist on coming here for anything, come for the ice cream because the portions are big and it looks great. The people behind the ice cream parlor area are really friendly and talkative so there's that.

Came here for dessert with 3 other girls on a Saturday night and the wait time was fairly decent! The line forms outside along the building and an employee comes out and takes down your name. Once inside, the whole atmosphere of the restaurant is just amazing! Everyone is so upbeat and the service is great! We ordered the triple chocolate brownie sundae and the ice cream nachos. And between the 4 of us, it was just the right amount of dessert seeing how we devoured the whole thing. On your birthday, you get a free sundae and they sing to you. Super cute! and there's a balloon guy that goes around and can make balloon animals for about a buck or two. Great for kids!

Super fun place to take your kids! There singing a song about this or that every second! Not a quite place thats for sure. I think the employees are top notch! So enthusiastic. Yes if you go at the wrong time you will wait in a ginormous line but thats not their fault that we love them, or is it :) The parking lot is a good size but Im sure they can fill it! Garlic fries are yummy, so are the regular fries, oh yeah garlic fries did I mention them! We love there burgers, we tried a Homerun Mushroom swiss burger (4 pattys with swiss and mushrooms on every patty) and we left way too full. We have also tried the Pig Trough which was fun for 3 people to try to finish and when we did we got a lovely song and ribbon. Prices are very fair for what you get. Great place for a bday celebration!

They get 5 stars for having the actual Chocolate Malted Crunch Ice Cream... which made my day even better! Their candy shop reminds me of the candy shop in the old Riverside Plaza, from the taffy to the button candy.. i bought alot of it to take me to back to the good ol days. If you're allergic to almonds, like i am, make sure you tell your waiter/tress because alot of their desserts contain almonds all over it. Keep that in mind. The Ice Cream Nachos has been the only dessert that i've ordered so my next visit, i will be sure to try other desserts and the food. :)

If you're looking for a quiet, boring place...this is NOT it. If you are looking for amazing food and dessert brought to you by servers with high energy and fun attitudes, you're in the right spot. The service was excellent. Really loud, crazy environment. Had a blast!!! If its your birthday, be sure to tell them. My French dip sandwhich was fabulous. I split the meal and half was more than enough for me. My vanilla shake with caramel was also top of the line. Better than Ruby's. And they were my first fave. I highly recommend a family night out here, you will have a great time. As long as you're not shy or grumpy ;)

Was my very first time at a Farrell's. I've heard the stories about the place so I had some idea as to the ambience. I went for a birthday party so there were 15 of us. I expected noise but man! It was loud! I DID leave with a massive migraine. The constant singing and drum beating and bell ringing. My 5 year old son loved it so hey. We got there at 3pm and left at 6:15pm. Probably due to our large party I'm imagining. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. It was ok ... I could definitely make it at home for a fraction of the cost. My husband and I split the brownie sundae. The brownies were dry and the ice cream was ok I guess. I mean it's ice cream! I guess Farrell's uses Thrifty's ice cream so I'm a bit upset for how much the ice cream cost but you're paying for the atmosphere. My family ordered the zoo for everyone else and the show is great but the bowl of ice cream is definitely not worth $60. Just my opinion I guess ... On a side note, the "fake chicken dinner" ice cream for kids is down right hilarious!! Farrell's is definitely worth experiencing at least once with your children.

Didn't eat at the restaurant but got food to go. The menu looked good but I wasn't impressed with the food. There were three of us- we got two Reubens, one with garlic fries and the other with onion strings, and a buffalo chicken sandwich with waffle fries. The Reuben was just ok. Looked like a traditional Reuben but wasn't anything special, and got soggy really quickly. The garlic fries were not very good. The waffle fries were what you'd expect, typical frozen waffle fries. The onion strings were the best part. They were light and crispy and delicious. They didn't give us a pickle on one of the sandwiches. And the pickles tasted funny- they were very peppery. Overall, the food was just ok, but the price was not. It was ridiculously expensive for mediocre food. And it wasn't like there was a ton of it either. The portion of onion strings seemed especially small, which was too bad, because like I said, they were the best part of the meal. We wanted to try one of the ice cream sundaes, which sounded great, but balked at the price. We won't be returning.

Waited in line outside for about an hour, food is so so .we order three hot fudge sundries don't order this I've had better ice cream at McDonalds, More then half of the Sunday was filled with whip cream with very little ice cream and the hot chocolate was not hot at all. Don't go..

I like this place. this is an Ice cream parlour that serves sandwiches, salads and burgers. I took a friend to lunch and we both had an enjoyable time. food: 4/5 sandwiches are good. the bread is coated with butter. sandwiches came with fry, which is above average. but, the sandwiches is good. ambiance: 4.5/5 old fashioned soda shop decorated like Southern parlour. good atmosphere service: 5/5 great server who is friendly and knowledgable. she comes back to table several times to make sure the customers is doing all right. cost: 4/5 average $11-14 for sandwiches or burger or salads parking: 5/5 private lot with lots of parking. pretty safe at night. cleanlyness: 4.5/5 overall: 4/5 this is an upscale Chuck E. Cheese for family who can afford better meals.

I went for the ice cream but was so hungry and got a sandwich instead. The chicken sandwich was really really good. The ice cream wasn't great. I think the ice cream itself could be better quality, real vanilla beans or better texture. I went for the ice cream and wouldn't go back for the sandwich or the ice cream. The staff was very attentive. As a date place it feels somewhat contrived

Fun experience - I ordered the tin roof which is my favorite. Good as usual. Service was good as well. Always a fun time. Saw the food others ordered and it all looked good (burgers, sandwiches, chili crosscut fries). Generous portions. Will return...

Visited this place on a Saturday afternoon. The wait to be seated was about 5 minutes. When you first walk in the are buckets and jars of candy and treats! Cool candy like when we were kids... There were candy buttons, big hunk, chick o stick, wax bottles, fizzy candy, pop rocks, lollipops and so much more. The cool thing to is you can buy single candy pieces for .10 cents to .50 a piece! We were seated by a really cool guy who gave us a little intro of the place and then he told us or server would be with us shortly. We waited about 15 minutes for someone to come and take our order which would have been OK had we at least had our drinks. The guy finally kind of stumbled over to our table and took our order. No suggestions, no tips nothing. OK that's alright too I ordered everything at once just in case it took long. The menu had so much to choose from but it wasn't overwhelming. We came for dessert so our eyes lit up when we saw the menu! Our order- cherry coke, chocolate coke and water.( lots of different choices of shakes, soda floats and regular soda pop with flavoring) Ice cream Nachos!!! The nachos were bits of waffle cone for chips, three big scoops of ice cream, one scoop was chocolate mint chip with chocolate sauce and whip cream, one vanilla with blueberries on top(weird but good), and a scoop of chocolate ice cream with caramel sauce and whip cream. The chocolate scoop looked like it was rocky road but it turns out it was a chocolate malted balls type ice cream. I was a bit disappointed in the flavor combinations but it didn't stop us from scarfing it down!!! We decided to order fries and onion strings to help even out all the sugar content and to add on a thousand pounds of the carbs!!! Omg the order of fries was the biggest order I've ever seen in my life!! The onion strings were just as huge!! Mountains of food! Here is where a tip from the waiter would have been highly appreciated! There were only three of us, come on way too much for a small party appetizer. If we wanted to try something on the entrees it would have to wait because the appetizers were major stomach kill! We ate way to much and still filled two containers to go. The fries were delicious but the onion strings lacked taste...very bland. The waiter never came back to check on us, someone else brought the check and containers $32 bucks for our order of ice cream, onions strings, fries and drinks. Overall a nice place for a special occasion. The place itself was beautiful and the experience was fun. I will be back but this time I will be starving!!

Overall good experience. Came on opening day. The staff is super friendly and spirited they check on you often and make sure you get what you need. There was a bit too long of a wait for the food we almost waited 30 min. For one veggie burger and a reg. burger to come out but I suspect that had something to do with the large crowd. The food was not that special just tasted like regular burgers and the fries tasted a tiny bit plain. The hero of the day is definitely the dessert! We had the Oreo bliss and it tasted heavenly. I've been to one other Farrell's location before and can honestly say that the ice cream and root beer float are best I've had.

I had heard of Farrell's before but never been to one. OMG. This place is awesome. I've honestly only been here for the ice cream so I don't know about the food but the decoration and vibe here is like no other. I love taking the kid here, he gets so excited everytime. The brownie sundae is amazing.

I do love the atmosphere and the food, but the service at this particular location is beyond AWFUL!!! my family came here for my nieces birthday, there was about 25+ people with our party, the service was super slow, which is understandable for a party of that size, but we had small children who got pretty restless after 3 hours of sitting around. They couldn't split our check because the waiter was incompetent, and after wasting so much of our time all they could offer was a coupon for a free ice cream sundae, no kind of percentage taken off the bill. With how much business we brought in, it was the worst idea we've ever had. for the fun loud inviting atmosphere, they weren't very birthday party friendly. My husband and i came back, just the two of us, and the service was yet again awful!! we waited 3 hours for our two meals and one dessert to share. If the staff can't handle that many customers then maybe they need to down size their restaurant but my idea of friday night fun is not sitting in farrells while people are yell singing for 3 hours.

We went there for my wife's birthday (Seems like everyone was there for a birthday, so be prepared) and the wait time for the ice cream was ridiculous. We went to another place to eat first, and we all assembled, ordered, and ate in way less time then it took them to bring out ice cream for 7 of us. Not only was the wait horrendous, but everyone's ice cream came out already melted. We had to send a sundae back because it came out as soup. For the price it isn't worth the ice cream, the experience was OK, but you won't see me going back anytime soon. For my money I'd rather go to baskin robins or cold stone. At least there I'm ordering ice cream and get in frozen and without a 45+ min wait.

I remember going to Farrell's when I was a kid at the store in Fullerton. It was a lot of fun, especially when they would run around the restaurant with the zoo! This location is just as fun, and the employes are all really into your Farrell's experience. The food here is very good, everyone in our party thought there selections were delicious. The ice cream sundae is a meal in itself. Highly recommend this Farrell's.

Fun place for children, lively and friendly staff. It could be a bad place if you have a headache due to a very loud and festive atmosphere--but the service is awesome! :)

The food was pretty good and the Sasparilla was awsome, though it did take pretty long to get to the table. This place is noisy as most people come here to celebrate birthdays. They make a big production, and a LOT of noise. There are baloon artist that work for tips, so People Please DONT be a cheepskate and TIP THEM!!!!. Try the chilli cheese waffle fries. They are realllllly good.

Atmosphere is bonkers!!! Loud atmosphere fun for kids and big personalities. I wasn't thrilled about the taste of the ice cream but I'll give them another chance. Food was good, nothing to die for. Best time to go is during the week and during the day. Stay away during the weekend.

I was excited to try this place and while they have decent ice cream in can be better. But the real issue here is the price. 9$ for a personal pizza... is just ridiculous. everything here is extremely over priced. So if you recently won the lottery and want to pay a über amount of money for pizza and burgers you found your spot.

I've been here before and I LOVE this place!! The food is pretty good and the service is also good, depending on how busy they are... Which can get pretty crazy busy later in the day and evening. But they always have plenty of staff on hand! The best part of this place for me is when they sing Happy Birthday to people =) (including me on my 45th this year) LOL! Love it and look forward to going back again!

I rate it as only 3 stars because of 3 combined factors that might not hold the same weight for everybody. First, I will say the food is great. I had the chipotle burger (can't remember the actual name) and it was good. My complaints were that the service was sub- standard, because my waiter was always so busy running around singing songs to everyone that he neglected our table. I also thought it was on the pricy side. I'm not one to usually complain about pricing- but while the food was good, it wasn't that much better than other places. The last thing was that it was really loud and obnoxious. Ok, that's kind of the point there, and we expected that a little bit, but it was too over the top. Even for my hyper 2 year old son - and that's saying something!

An ice cream parlour restaurant that serves Thrifty ice cream? I don't think it gets any better for someone like my husband. I took my husband here for his birthday and it was a hit. The food was great and he indulged in his favorite ice cream, chocolate malted crunch! The ambiance was fun and festive, service was great, and we all had a great time. Can't wait to come here again.

  • Brian B.

Great ice cream pretty good food. The servers are nice although it's a very festive atmosphere and don't expect it to be quite or relaxing, that's not what their for. Fun place to go every once in awhile. On the more expensive side if you get ice cream and dinner.

We went here for my daughters birthday, it has a fun atmosphere but a long wait to get in, they only take reservations for parties of 8 or more, we had 7. We started off with the fried onion mountain, DO NOT GET THIS, it looked really good, but when I dug in it was totally flavorless and it felt like I had a rock in my gut. I ordered the club with regular fries, it was alright, but a bit dry, and the fries were flavorless. I tried my friends fish tacos, eh, I saw everyone elses orders and they looked good but I didn't try them. I do have say they do do desserts right, we got The Zoo, I don't know who makes their ice cream for them, but it was sooo good, one thing I would suggest though is more bananas, but that's just a personal preference. Over all if you're going for desserts the place is a winner but food wise, I guess I'll have to try other things on the menu before I can say they stink at it.

    (4)
  • Paul M.

Great burger. Great service. I got the patty melt. Several of our group ordered fries and loved them. Way too loud. Annoying really. Got the Zoo with about 15 people and paid $80 bucks for the worst ice cream experience if there is one. I had been waiting all my life to have one and it was terrible. Granted I was last in line for a serving. Melted and gross. Overpriced and plain yucky. Advice: Eat the burgers and fries and get a sundae. The trough looked fantastic. Just skip the Zoo and bring ear plugs and you should be fine.

We remembered enjoying Farrell's here in Riverside some 30+ years ago, and were happy to see them return recently, after decades of absence. Despite some of the negative reviews on this site, we tried them for lunch a few days ago, and were pleasantly surprised. We were seated immediately; waitress was busy, but perky and happy; order was taken soon, beverages delivered promptly; delivery of the order was a bit on the long side, but was correct; food was hot and fresh. As others have noted, it's not a place for a quiet conversation - but that's part of the fun! We'll return.

It's loud. It's crowded. The service is slow. The food is unhealthy. And it's expensive. If you're not celebrating something, it's probably not worth it. But if you are, it can be a pretty fun time.

We arrived in a big party, five minutes BEFORE our reservation. By chance, we overheard the hostess giving up our reservation as a no show. Ever try to negotiate with a apathetic teenage hostess? As a store that specializes in group dining, they need to work on the basics of time management when dealing with large groups. I loved Farrrells as a kid, and was hoping to share with mine. These guys are a joke

    (1)
  • Maggie S.

Overall had a great experience. Great atmosphere, good food (fries were cold & a bit over cooked), great service. Some of the other reviews said that the food took a long time but that was not my experience at all. The only wait was to be seated and that was about 45 minutes.

    (4)
  • Lopez A.

Our waitress was very nice. So I gave her a nice tip, but the food took for ever to arrive and three of us not one had hair on our plates . That's very unsanitary. I wanted to say something but the kids asked me not to so I didn't . The food isn't very good, but the ice cream was good. So if I did come back it would be for the ice cream only for the kids. My youngest child enjoyed himself . So in the end that's all that matters .

This place is obviously more of a birthday party or celebratory environment. We went for my step-dad's birthday and it was just five of us. Didn't mind the noise or the wait because I expected it. The reason I'm giving it such a low rating is because it was so expensive and the food was just amazingly mediocre. It's like bar food except you're not drunk so you're aware of how shitty it is. The ice cream isn't anything to write home to mom about either. Pass.

  • Michelle P.

I love this place, the customer service is amazing. I always feel welcomed and if theres a wait I don't mind because it worth it. The ice cream is good and so is the food. Wait times shows the good quality and demand of a place. Keep up the good work :)

Was it better when I was a kid...yeah because I was a kid I guess. It's too damn noisy but I'm getting old. If I want noisy, I'll take an 18-pack into 80's night at the Hollywood Bowl. If you've got a kid on the spectrum - maybe avoid this place. Also, check the line before deciding - they aren't exactly fast. Decent burger. Took a friend and her kid and they enjoyed it, but I was wanting to muayThai that drum! I can still hear it!

    (3)
  • Sue C.

Fun place to take the kids. If you want a quiet dinner this is not for you but if you want a place where your kids don't have to use their "inside voice" then bring the crew! I used to go to Farrell's when young and remember having my 8th grade graduation party at one many years ago. We had the Bacon Cheeseburger with garlic fries and I split it with my daughter to have room for Ice cream. It was delicious and HUGE! My husband had the French dip which was awesome! For dessert I had the Bannana Royale one of my favorites from the past and my daughter created her own cherry sundae which was amazing. Fun place for parties, grandchildren, ice cream, and food!

I was made aware that Farrell's was a big deal back in the day, and they were making a comeback. The first time I tried to go, the line was too long--thank you, but no. I came back on a weekday and there wasn't any trouble finding a table. I had the Gastro sandwich, and it was great, if not a little small for the price. One thing I liked is that they had soda water available for only 2 cents (I happen to like it plain) and it was refillable. I made my own sundae with chocolate malted crunch and coffee with hot fudge and marshmallow creme. While they got the order wrong, they made it right and didn't charge me extra for it. The chocolate malted crunch wasn't too sweet and reminded me of a Whopper, the coffee ice cream tasted like unsweetened coffee, and paired well with the marshmallow and the hot fudge. The service was prompt, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. If you want quiet, do not come here. My only complaints: Too long wait times during the weekends (though I understand it can't be helped, but still), and the prices are a little steep, ensuring my family and I will only go on special occasions, if that.

Good food and great service. We had dinner tonight for my son's 1st birthday, the crew was great and my son got a kick out of all the sounds and singing. Definitely will go back again even if just for dinner. Thank you for the great time!

Grand opening was busy but did not have to wait to be seated. The feel of the place had lots of energy was loud and fun. Had an all American hamburger was cooked just the way it should be. Ordered and Oreo bliss it was really tasty. In all food was good but the main star of the place is the ice cream.

The reason why i go to restaurants is that..I am hungry! I complained about the long wait...one hour to wait for the long line...and to get your order and your food will arrive for another hour and the cheque to arrive for another hour.... BUT THE ICE CREAM is the worth to wait...its really the bomb! They really need to speedy the service, esp. the kids /toddlers who have short patience.

Very disappointed! We noticed Farrell's while attending a doctors appointed in Riverside. We live in Temecula so I was unaware one was so close. I haven't been in a Farrell's in 30+ years! This was one of my favorite places to visit as a kid/teen! We had a follow up appointment in 2 weeks so we decided we would treat ourselves. Today was the day! We went in and though the candy area was much smaller then the one was in Downey it looked just like what I remembered! We waited to be seated. There were only about 5 parties in the restraunt at the time so the restraunt was empty. The waitress tried to seat us in the back of the restraunt near the kitchen! I said "no" I don't want to sit near the kitchen it's very dark back here. So she asked us to go back to the front of the restraunt and wait! "THE RESTRAUNT IS EMPTY"! Another waitress comes by and asks us if we'd like to be seated? I asked her if we could sit near the ice cream parlor? The waitress comes back and says she's taken care of us! She tells me we "CAN'T" sit YOU near the ice cream parlor and she has a seat for us "IN A DARK AREA BEHIND THE ICE CREAM PARLOR"!! ENOUGH! I've had enough! The entire restraunt is empty and you are insisting on putting me in a dark corner! "WE LEFT"!!!! Awful experience! What a disappointment! You go to Farrell's for a party atmosphere not a dark corner near the kitchen! I guess it will be another 30+ years before I visit Farrell's again! I'm very disappointed. I was really looking forward to today!

Horrible slow service! Twice I have been here! First time server was non existent after we got our meal he never checked in with us again! When he did.... (Which was after we ate).... I finally got my ONE refill and when he brought it, he spilled drink on my table (he took 5 minutes to come back and clean up)! He actually served cocktails to a neighboring table as my pants were soaking wet!!!!! Crazy! Second time was bad too took forever for food and then our order was wrong!! Anyway never will I go again!!!

The ice cream was not that great you can get better ice cream at Coldstone. As far as meals they pretty much only have burgers and sandwiches. The Gastro was good but on the greasy side. Appetizers and other sandwiches and burgers were just ok. Service was excellent our waitress was friendly and attentive. It's very loud and rowdy so if you want a quiet, private type meal this is not the place. I would take kids here for special occasions.

We took our little one to Farrell's (Riverside location) as a reward for getting student of the month. We had a great time. The service was good and the food was great. They have a great staff behind the ice cream bar. Their was a long wait to get seated but it was worth the wait.

My family and I went to celebrate my sister's birthday and was very satisfied with atmosphere, service, and food quality. There was a line to be seated and the staff were very enthusiastic ensuring that the wait wouldn't be that long. We get seated and our server Janessa is very accommodating with our needs, e.g., high chair, condiments for food ordered, and when to have the birthday presentation started. The food was amazing. I had the grown up grilled cheese sandwich with bacon (additional cost but worth it), chili cheese fries, a bowl of chili, and a chocolate diet coke. The rest of the family had garlic fries, grilled chicken sandwich, patty melt, swiss mushroom burger, the gastro...sandwich, and the aloha burger. Definitely go to this Farrell's to celebrate positive events :)

Service was very poor and very slow. Food was okay nothing amazing. They do go out of the way for birthday wishes. The reason the came. I will try to come again in the afternoon and sit at the soda fountain to hopefully get better service. I don't wanna give up on this place yet, but waiting at our table for thirty minutes just to get our beverages ordered really put a sour taste in my mouth.

Food is so-so. Ice cream sundaes are meh. Great place if you're five years old and like obnoxious buffoonery. Wait staff would rather put on a stupid show than give you good service.

We went here for my BDay on a Sunday at 5pm. We didn't get seated til 6:45pm. Luckily they texted us 10 mins before while we were at the mall. We had a party of 6, with 2 kids. The food was great, the only reason they only got 3 stars from me is because, everything took so long. Getting the food, getting the desert, etc was a very long wait. With two kids that were getting impatient, and we were hungry. I know they just recently opened but they need to speed up the service. Also, the blaring alarm thing gets old after a while. I didn't expect it to be quiet, but it's very loud. If they speed up the service, I would come back here but only for birthdays.

I love the atmosphere of Farrell's the people are so friendly and go way out of their way for you! Not to mention the food is awesome! Love the new healthy menu choices and their ice cream is so delicious! Definitely come with something to celebrate and they won't let you forget your time there!

Been to the one in rancho! I am glad there's one here now next to kaiser and castle park and not to mention that there use to be one a long time ago according to a teacher of mine! The moment you walk in, it's a candy shop :) and everywhere you see people dining in their food and you have waiters and waitresses all around and everything decorated and the music is like oldies parlor status. You get this good vibe when you're inside, and the workers are very cheerful which makes you even happy too. And caution: it tends to be loud when the place is busy and has a lot of people! But that's what Farrell's is! A place to celebrate ones birthday. Bring your family and or friends or even better together! And they have many different ways to sing happy birthday to you! Ice cream is good that's where we go when my friends and I feel like it. Though I think getting food and the desert there is expensive so we would just eat elsewhere and maybe come here for desert incase the place we eat at doesn't have good deserts. And you can actually fake that it's your birthday and they will believe it haha and if you do they will give you a free Sundae which a friend of mine did haha.

  • Jason H.

I love coming here with friends! They have so many different choices and a great atmosphere. It's a little bit pricey for just ice cream but I think their approach to it makes it fun. They sing to you for many things and not only just your birthday and they're all very enthusiastic about everything. There are also people who come around and make balloon toys of just about everything for children. It's definitely a unique place as it reminds me of an old fashioned saloon. I haven't had much of a full meal there yet so I can't speak much for it but as for the ice cream, it was pretty much spot on. Portions are big enough to share of eat alone and there are so many different choices as well. There's always a line but it generally moves quickly. To top it all off, they have their own candy shop! Even though it doesn't have much, it has some pretty unique things.

It's the Farrell's I remember going to as a kid growing up in Torrance. Fun atmosphere. The food is average, but the ice cream is great and the customer service is excellent. Katherine our server was awesome and clearly loves her job. We had three people in our party who were celebrating a birthday and she made each one feel special. Overall, a great place to celebrate, have fun and enjoy some great ice cream.

Had my 1 Year Anniversary Party here. I arrived early to check in, as I was told to, and immediately became bent. I had two pushing carts of decorations and party favors. They wouldn't let me set up early. Told me they had other reservations, not enough servers, etc. I'm wondering at this point, why even bother with a reservation? I had set the time for 630p because when I made the reservation the girl said I would miss the shift change and servers would be available. I was also told, that week when I went in, to arrive at least 20 minutes earlier, have half my party there, check in, etc. This is the reason I became bent. If there were going to be problems setting up and/or having my guests waiting out in the heat I would have picked a different place. Maybe 5 minutes later a "senior" manager came over, calmed me down and fixed everything. I even felt bad for my fuming. From that moment on everything was perfect. Tables were put together. I was able to decorate. Guests only waited about 10 minutes past the reservation time and the food came out in a timely manner. Our drinks stayed filled. The ice cream flowed. The servers not only put on a great show, but stayed in character the entire time. Nothing but smiles from them, me or my guests. I couldn't have asked for a better place to party! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. To everyone involved, you made it a memorable experience. It was reminiscent of parties from Farrells past in the 1970s. Ha. Ha. Please, if any member of managment reads this pass it on to the General Manager, the District Manager, the Regional Manager and the Corporate Office. You guys rock! The video: youtu.be/mH_kO4Lt1eA

Been here twice now, great place from a birthday. I had to take my dad for his b day. Everyone was very nice. Ice cream was very good. And of course watching my dad when they were singing, was just great. We really don't care for the food, but the ice cream is why we go. Thanks for giving my dad a great b day. Be ready to wait, it gets pretty busy. Plenty of parking.

Came here last Sunday for my son's birthday party. Waitress was great but management doesn't know what they're doing. We were seated in the dining room to the left of the restaurant which I think is reserved for large parties. There's probably about 10 tables. There was one other party and for some reason they seated us next to each other so that we kept bumping into each other during the entire meal whenever anyone stood up to go to the bathroom or had to leave the table. There is a FLY PROBLEM at this location. They were buzzing around the entire meal. One of them even landed in my drink. Disgusting. Even worse is when I reached out to management, a Ron Atkinson (who did not identify if he was management) admitted that they were aware of the fly problem and " have been taking steps to alleviate the problem as best as possible," whatever that means. He also blamed me for what happened because I didn't approach management while I was there. He ended with a "Just for future reference, please ask for a manager as they are there to help in any way possible." WOW. That is some lousy customer service. DON'T COME HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE A SIDE of FLIES WITH YOUR MEAL.

The only thing I love more than having an air raid siren bursting my eardrums is about five overly happy, choir geek teenagers singing at me about my choice of dessert. Apparently Gwen Stephani and I both like B-A-N-A-N-A-S. This place is entertaining, serves good ice cream and the portions are huge. The vibe is upbeat, and loud. As much as I'm a fan of the idea of this place i usually just order to go. I like to eat my ice cream in peace

I absolutely love coming to Farrell's every visit is always fun great time... But this visit wasn't, by far worst service . Our waiter Joseph A was not energetic, friendly, or attentive it could of been that it was almost an hour till closing but still no excuse. Our drinks took longer then usual which is odd cause we all ordered waters. It was my friends birthday and she had to pay for her birthday ice cream but not only that when her ice cream arrived it was all melted and very unappealing it came in a tin cup which was odd cause we were used to the glass cup which again might have been because it was late and maybe they were out of clean glass cups.. All in all service was the worst I've ever seen and everyone at my table was very disappointment.

Came here for a large birthday party. We ordered mozzarella sticks as a appetizer to start. They taste like they were from a frozen bag from food for less. Meh. I ordered the Grown up grill cheese, family got kids pizza, talk of the town, chicken ceaser salad. As we sat there were flies flying around. Ugh! In a post on here I guess management is aware of problem and they are trying to deal with it. My grill cheese came and i thought it was the kids. I ate 1 triangle and told the waitress to take it off my bill. It was barely warm, tasted like it came from a cafeteria. I could make a better one at home. She asked if i wanted anything else, i declined because I did not want to wait and spend any money on crappy food. My husbands chicken was dry, the talk of the town burger was sub par. My sons kids ice cream sundae was melted when he goy it. . Man what a disappointment. I gave it 2 stars because I guess its cool for kids. I guess.

Farrell's is officially the loudest place on Earth. Seriously. It's a completely family friendly, fun atmosphere filled with ice cream, balloons, and straw boater hats. Oh, and noise. Lots and lots of noise. The staff comes around to sing renditions of birthday songs that may or may not accompany a drum and noisemakers. While amusing, if you're in there long enough, it becomes a vicious cycle. We've taken people here a few times for what everyone else comes here for: a birthday. And for the amount of time you typically stand outside to wait for seats (I was even able to walk across the street and get a drink or two at a bar and come back with 10 minutes to spare), you'd better hope the celebrant's birthday is not on a popular date. I have seen a bar area in this restaurant, but haven't had a chance to sit in it. Sometimes the service is okay, sometimes it really isn't. The food while in large portions is average, but with the cream-of-the-crop ice cream desserts, Farrell's does its job as being your fitting festive destination for celebrations. The newspaper style menus and candy shop add to the parlour's personality.

Great place but service is slow. I don't like the idea of all the candy in the very front before kids can eat or when we leave because it makes us parents look bad when we say no no no to the candies. Other then that I would recommend.

I've been to this restaurant a few times, I like how friendly (and funny, sometimes!) the staff is. My husband, 2-yr old and I went for lunch today and was seated within less than 5 minutes. As always, it is very noisy, chaotic (the fun kind). The food is ok, drinks, ok and ice cream is great! My daughter was entertained by a 'balloon twister', she got a crown! Overall, we had fun, bellies stuffed and we will surely go back.

Came here twice and had 2 totally different experiences. 1st time - date night on a Friday, came and enjoyed a burger and fries along with an appetizer and some dessert. The wait was about 15 minutes for a table for 2. We asked to sit at the bar area which usually is first come first serve but were told we had to wait on the other parties in front of us who obviously did not want to sit at the bar so I was immediately thrown off. We decided to wait the 15 minutes and it was worth it. The food tasted amazing and the service was great and fast. 4 star rating for the 1st experience. 2nd time - Valentines day with the family of about 20 people total. We already had reservations so waiting for tables were not an issue. The only issue we had was the food literally took a full hour to come out and the service was extremely slow. There were multiple servers and they did the best they could to accommodate a family of 20 but they kept forgetting things, and made this whole experience a little more time consuming. Also the food did not taste as great this time and I ordered the exact same thing as the 1st time. Something was just off this day. But on a better note, the kids in the family absolutely loved this place. They enjoyed the singing, balloon artist and desserts. We really only came here for the kids so it was nice seeing all of them having fun. Anyways, I think with a little more consistency from the cooks to the servers this place has tremendous potential to be a 5 star establishment. We love the diner fun style theme.

My first visit and it was very disappointing.y wife raved about this place from when she was younger. We came to celebrate a family birthday and checked their website to make sure we would not be too late. We arrived at 830 to learn they were now closing at 9, not 10 like their website says. "Well we have posted that sign on the window". We had planned to have dinner but will have to settle on ice cream only. I am unimpressed.

The atmosphere is amazing, love the upbeat fun environment. The staff is beyond fun and always running around singing/entertaining. 5 stars! The food was rather average. It was quality food, but it lacked a lot of flavor. The menu was standard, I was hoping for something a bit more creative. The food gets 3 stars. On to the ice cream and it's a home run! Go with the Ice Cream Nachos, so good! 5 stars. Overall they get 4 stars! I would love to go back for ice cream!

So Roxy greeted us, not friendly way, the restaurant was empty its its around 4:00pm and she wanted us to sit next to the kitchen leaving lots of booths and tables empty its only 2 of us, when we asked for a different table she said no booths available and to our server brought her again trying to find out why we don't like the table!?!? Which point you do t understand no is no, we left and never going back again.

Since Ghiradelli's has caved to special interest groups and removed the Gold Rush from their menu, Farrell's is now my favorite ice cream parlour. I just have to order it to go since the drum and the horn drive me insane. Probably the best place to take kids for a birthday party though.

Fourth trip here and it fell short from other visits. Me and my wife ordered adult mac and cheese to share and i ordered water with lemon. My daughter ordered mac and cheese with fruit. We got our salad and the waitress dropped the cup of dressing on the table. We started our salad but it was partially frozen. We got our meal..no water. My daughter got her meal...fries no fruit...and no water. We asked for the fruit and the water. Got all that and my wife says hey it our meal is supposed to come with bread, so i ask. O we are out of the bread...this info would have changed our minds about what to get if this was mentioned before hand. Overall great food, great ice cream but need help in the training department i think.

Our waitress was cool only real issues were we did not ask her to split out food felt like it was a smaller portion due to it overall pretty good time the only other issue is we sat by the kitchen and watched multiple employees taking tater tots and fries off finished trays getting ready to be served to customers made we think twice

I came here with my grandson after a weekday afternoon at Castle Park. I got a salad, I think it was the Harvest salad and my grandson got the kids pizza, which came with a drink and a clown sundae. I want to say the salad was $12, which was pricey for what I got, the lettuce was kind of sad and wilty and the vegetables and fruit not all that fesh, but I had a taste of my grandsons pizza and it was good. The server was friendly enough and we were seated in the little diner section, which had a kitchsy soda shoppe ambience. I can't speak for dessert, but when I go back it will be for dessert, since that's what they are known for after all.

We were celebrating my son's First Communion. His twin brother who has Autism was having a meltdown in the car and wouldn't get out. My husband and I were facing having to switch off hanging out in the car with him. When I asked Manager Reagan if he could help us out, he said "Just tell me what to do." Reagan banged on the drum all the way to the car. That is all our son needed. He got out of the car quickly and banged the drum with Reagan all the way inside. Thank you, Reagan and Farrell's staff, Riverside for saving the day!

This review is a bit overdue, but I'll never forget my experience here. I have never been so upset with customer service before. After seeing all the balloon hats my friends would bring home, I wanted to like this place so badly, but I couldn't. I came here with a couple of friends to celebrate my friend's birthday. I was planning on sharing with a friend. The waiter didn't like the idea of that. He looked me in the eyes and said something of the sort, "You're going to share? That is so cheap." I tried to laugh it off.. probably because I didn't know how to react to such a rude waiter. Then when he found out it was my friend's birthday, he looked at me and said, "It's her birthday. You better pay for her." Straight face. No smiling. No joke. Me? I smiled again and tried to laugh it off. Hey buddy. I'm so sorry that I'm a student and I don't have an income, but that I still want to be there for my friend on her birthday. (sarcasm intended) The sad thing is that Farrell's is possibly better than that, but because of one waiter, I have a hard time believing it. He may just be one waiter, but he is the face of the restaurant. Even if you hate your job or you think someone is being cheap, that is no way to talk to your customer. I honestly don't even know how I kept my cool. I liked that my friend got her free birthday sundae and was forced to do the little dance and all, but that doesn't change his lack of professionalism and manners.

The food was good but nothing too special. What I did enjoy was the rootbeer milkshake. It's good for groups but be warned they don't like splitting checks. They refused to split our check with a 23 person group. Also be sure to prepare yourself for a LOUD environment. The service beside that was great, they were sweet and attentive.

We were excited when this place opened because we had heard about it from so many people. We went with a large party a few weeks after they opened and arrived about 30 mins before they opened for the day to make sure we got in right away. We were seated quickly. But it was down hill after that. I took forever for them to take our food order and when they finally did I took forever for our food to come out and it came out in sets of two all about 10 mins apart and most of the people in out party said the food was cold and no one could eat together because the it took so long to get all of the food out. We finally ordered our ice cream thinking well this place is not know for the food the ice cream could be good. Their was nothing special about the ice cream and not work the trip, and then when the bill came they charged double charged two people in our group. About two months later we tried them again thinking maybe we just had a bad experience because we had a large group and they were still new. With a group of only about six this time it was a repeat of the same experience minus the double charging. We will not return.

We have been here 3 other times before and to me it's like a 50/50 chance you will have a good experience. Food is not good at all and is WAY over priced. Went to celebrate my daughter's birthday. It was not a busy night only had to wait about 10 minutes to get a seat. We were seated at 7 and didn't get out till well after 9PM. Ordered our food fries came cold and with a hair and onion strings were cold too. When I say cold I am not meaning luke warm I mean like fridge cold. The server took them back and returned with the same plates of fries and onion strings no warmer. Food was very blah. Birthday girl ordered a scoop of ice cream with cherry on top. I specifically said no whip cream, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, nuts etc. Her ice cream was full of everything we said not to put on. We also ordered apple blossom with out nuts and it came with nuts. Took forever to get our ice cream and the waitress argued with us when we complained. Balloon person came to everyone around us but not us and still had time to stand up front and socialize. A water spilled and I had to clean it myself cause it took over 5 minutes after we told the waitress to have someone come with a towel. Honestly the only good thing I have to say about my evening is it was only a 10 minute wait to get seated. Very doubtful I will be returning.

I decided to give Farrell's a second chance. A Farrell's manager emailed me regarding my experience with them previously. The fact that they cared and were concerned made me want to try them again. This time they were excellent! The staff was very nice and came by to make sure we were well taken care of. We received our food on time. The server we had was so very kind and sweet! Everyone was in a good mood and laughing. We even had a few servers walk by and see if we needed anything. Then they joked around with us for a few minutes. They didn't know us or anything about us so that was refreshing that they did that. And this was without them knowing how unhappy I was last time. I said nothing. They were purely genuine and awesome. You don't get that very much these days. It was a big deal to me. The food was superb and we received big portions. Had to take the rest home. This is how I always expected Farrell's to be and they lived up to my expectations! I will definitely be going back again in the future. Now I can say this place is THE BEST!!

This was my first experience here and it was so much fun! My mother loved this place as a child and was always bummed she couldn't take me when I was younger but now that its back I finally get to try it out. Its a fun circusy atmosphere with lots of singing and more. The sundaes are amazing!!!! And the food is pretty good also. Their is also a candy store when you walk in and they have all of the old candies that you don't find in stores any longer. Everyone should try it, bring your family and friends and enjoy and you eat for FREE on your birthday

Stopped here on Labor Day, had to wait about 20 minutes for a table which wasn't too bad. Overall, burgers were very good, ice cream was good but I've enjoyed better and service was good and the lively birthday singing every 5 minutes kept the kids entertained. They even gave away four free Angel tickets to a table in our section who could answer an Angel trivia question. Overall about what I expected from my first trip to a Farrell's in over 30 years. Won't come back for a while since its more of a novelty than anything but worth a visit.

Possibly the worst service ever. Only gave this place 1 star as there is no lower score. Deserves zero stars. Arrived at 5pm did not get seated for 1hr after being told the wait was 30 mins. Once seated 30 mins to place our order which then took another hour to show up. Food was nothing special at all. Unless you have several hours to kill do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT take a picture of the Asian guy doing balloon art. Can you say AWKWARD!! First, he gave me the stink eye when I took a pic of him making a balloon for my son. I took a second pic when he was making another one for my other son, and I thought he would come unglued. He rudely said to me, "People usually ask if they can take pictures first." Umm...ok. Then, he asked if we were from Riverside. Yes. Oh, he's from Orange County...and went on to say how DIFFERENT people are here than in OC. Ha! Like OC is supposed to impress me? Then he went on with some totally awkward tangent about how many child entertainers there are in Riverside. He made no sense, was rude, and tacky. The food was pretty good and the servers are obnoxious, but that's their job. The manager came around to every table but she seemed like she was trying too hard. She had the little girl sitting in the booth next to us show her how to do the splits. Hands on the dirty floor, right before a meal. Gag. It was tacky IMO. It was my twins' birthday, and the birthday song they sang to them was cute and fun. I'd go back again, but definitely pass on the balloon guy (btw - I tipped the dude $10 for two balloons and 2 pics)...I hope he felt like crap for being sassy over a photo op.

Went for birthday lunch with Co-workers. We only have an hour for lunch, and they're less than five minutes away. They only take reservations for odd hours (1 I'clock, etc.), not even half hours. They also don't do separate checks, saying it would take an extra half hour. We were seated right away, but it was 10 minutes before our waiter to took our drink order, then 10 more for another waiter to bring 2/3 full glasses. Another 15 minutes went by before our food orders were taken. The waiter told us they could not cook our burgers to order, all meat is cooked medium well for health reasons. "Mods", substitutions add additional time to the order, though we were not told that. An hour and five minutes after we had arrived, we still had not received our food. The manager was not sympathetic at all, making excuses, and blaming us for asking for things like no ketchup, and no pickles. He then told us the order had only been put in 15 minutes before. About 15 minutes later, the food arrived. The fries were cold, the cheeseburger I, and two other people, had ordered were cooked medium-rare, and if there was cheese...none of us could taste OR see it. We didn't complain, the manager had already shown us he didn't care. Since we had already been there for more than an hour and a half, no birthday ice cream for me. This store is VERY close to two large businesses (Kaiser Hospital and DPSS). I know a lot of the employees of one of those businesses have already decided they won't be going there for birthday lunches anymore. Having more than 35 years of customer service experience, I am very disappointed. I won't be going back. UPDATE: CEO sent apology and more excuses. Offered a "gift certificate" of undetermined value. I declined. Everyone that goes here who is willing to accept poor service and bad value is letting ownership and management know it doesn't matter they don't improve.

My family and I went to Farrell's last night for dinner. There were 10 of us and it took us about an hour to get sat which sounds normal from what I see. The dining room was very loud but we were OK with it because after all we were there for my 6 year old sisters birthday, and it was pretty fun. Our server started out really nice which we learned was probably to make up for the fact that later he would be closer to impossible to find. We all ordered and our waters came after about 10 minutes and my corona and cousins root beer came about another 5 after that. Our waiter came over to say sorry for the first of several times throughout the night. After we ordered our food which was after about 45 minutes after we were there. The food took about an hour to come out which is crazy for overpriced bar food but the food was OK, nothing special but it was not bad. Refills or another beer took about 30 minutes(they are loosing so much in beer sales because of how slow their servers are)The guy doing the balloons was a nice guy and made some pretty cool stuff. You would think that a place with ice cream parlour in the name would at least get that right, WRONG. It took them 3 or 4 trips to make everything correct and get everyone the right flavors. Then after about 5 other people getting sung to they finally sing happy birthday to my sister so we can begin the process of getting the check. My step dad went up and asked the guy at the front desk and he was very rude and just turned around and walked off. Then we find the manager who is the only reason this place gets any stars. She finally helped us track down our check which was comped at this point. As we were leaving it was getting late and every server was either on their phone or talking to someone else. The amount of time you spend at this place just isn't worth it and I would highly avoid it if I were you.

I have never been to Ferrel's as a child but when Ferrel's opened up in my area I wanted to try it. So here is my review. Service: our server was sweet and made our experience wonderful. Our actual meal arrived in a decent 30 min or so but our dessert took about 45 min. Really 45 min for ice cream ? You don't even have to cook the thing an it takes 45 minutes. I think the main problem with speed of service is how often the poor servers have to sing happy birthday and randomly say things throughout the night. I think that they should have people designated at birthday singers so the servers can actually do their job and serve their customers. Food: We ordered the bacon cheese burger and it was yummy!!! We also shared the traditional banana split which was AWESOME! I hadn't had a banana split in forever and it really hit the spot. Ambience: Well if you like LOUD and I mean LOUD this is the place to be...if not I would steer clear. Every 5 min or so they are yelling, screaming or singing...so if you try to have a conversation here good luck! I would definitely go back again but just for ice cream but I'm going to figure out when its the quietest time to go so I can enjoy my ice cream in peace.

Awesome! A fun celebratory place to go even if you aren't celebrating anything. The manager comes around to your table and talks to you. You can join in the singing or not. You can watch them make your dessert. It looks like a great place to work!

Great food , great entertainment , service was terrible . First waitress spilled water on are table . Proceeded to wipe up the water with are napkins . Are order came, missing one plate Waitress said she was waiting for chicken to get cooked and no clean silverware after water spill , Ten minutes later here comes the salad with no dressing . Order a beer .beer glass had sticky ice-cream all over it .waitress came back ask if I could take a pitcher instead of the glass of beer I ordered , because she accidentally ordered a pitcher instead . After this I lost any good feelings about Farrell's . Also one last thing , we had four different waitresses waiting on us .

Went for my 4th visit today to celebrate my birthday with some friends on their lunch break. They are always friendly and do their best to get u everything u need before your lunch hour is up. Kaiser employees get a discount on their lunch breaks. Food tastes great. A little to loud with all the celebrations going on but still fun. Will be back next month for another friends birthday.

I took my family of 5 on a Saturday afternoon (May the 25th). 15 min to get seated which was fine. The original waiter was not very experienced so he was replaced by another who picked up the ball & ran with it. Had a great time & the manager was great at making things right. My family really enjoyed the singing & dancing the staff put on for the guests. We will be coming back again. Great Job Farrells!

This place was so much fun we want to go back the only downside is everyone else likes it too. This place is always packed, but it's worth the wait if you have the time. Expect a long wait, but also expect a great time once you get inside. Totally worth going to check out the fun atmosphere oh yeh and the food is really good too.

My mother always talked about her childhood memories here and when I first heard about them building the riverside location I was super excited! Arrived and was told by others to go in line and someone with a clipboard will come by and take down our info. The line was super long but mostly large parties. So didn't even wait very long, we were seated at a table it seems the booths are only for much larger parties. Sat for awhile before being greeted, the restaurant was packed and the flow never seemed to stop. The staff running around like crazy singing lots of happy birthdays, I loved the atmosphere. Could I stand it for lunch everyday? probably not but once in awhile is fun. Our server arrived and took our drink order they have not gotten their liquor license yet so I couldn't order a beer. For an appetizer we ordered the smaller portion "hill" sized chili cheese fries. They came out and it was ginormous, I really like the waffle fries served with it too. I ordered an add on dinner salad but when it came out I was disappointed since it was a pretty basic . For lunch we ordered the turkey focaccia sandwich & the gastro sandwich with added garlic fries. The turkey focaccia was truly incredible I substituted American cheese, all the ingredients were fresh and the pesto sauce was wonderful! My Hubby enjoyed his sandwich too but wished he'd ordered mine instead, also beware the garlic fries are powerful. It felt like I burned my tongue on wasabi lol. Really did enjoy my first visit here, wish I wasn't lactose intolerant so I could enjoy all their ice creams. Definitely recommend this place for birthday celebrations or any celebration for that matter!!!

Server never came to our table had to ask bus boy to get someone to wait on us. The manager was apologetic and very nice. We had never been here before and didn't know anything about this place so we we're a Lil overwhelmed with the craziness but its all fun. Just be ready for a loud non-stop atmosphere

Ran out of bananas? What ice cream parlor runs out of bananas? Not to mention the fact that we weren't told until 20 or so minutes after the other was placed. We were given 2 options. Wait, or order something else. The waitress was very absent minded, got our food order wrong. The manager merely said, "I'm sorry". No offer to make anything right, no interest in making us want to come back. Maybe I should have been rude and yelled and caused a scene? In retrospect, I was way too nice. Never again. This place sucks! I should have believed the rumors. Ran by monkeys, maybe this explains the shortage of bananas?

So I asked my wife where she wanted to eat lunch on Mother's Day. She grew up in San Diego going to Farrell's and saw that one opened in Riverside just off the 91. She wanted a Farrell's ice cream sundae but I was not sure what to expect from the food. Got there a little after noon (and everyone is right, you will have to wait). Went up to the hostess stand and was told to go outside and wait and someone would come out to get my name. Huh? There are three of you at the stand, why can't you write my name down? Not the way they do it. Let me pause here and note to the management that I don't know why you do it this way. What if as if your person is coming outside, someone walks in from the parking lot and gets their name on the list ahead of several people who had been waiting there? Why risk causing such unpleasantness? Anyway, we waited a while. Very warm outside to wait but no place to sit inside and wait. After we were seated, our server came and got drink orders and I order some garlic fries. Fries came out cold. Server said she would get us some others. Hmmm....still think someone just microwaved the plate but they were warm. Fries were fine but not as much flavor as I had hoped. At this point, I was getting concerned about the rest of the food. Well, Farrell's stepped up. My son got pizza, my daughter got chicken strips, my wife got a burger, and I got a Gastro sandwich. Everyone was pleased. The Gastro was big, it was hot, and it was real tasty. Since we already had fries, I substituted a salad with my meal. I got a salad that was the size of a lunch salad. I thought there was a mistake but that is the size of the side salad. Very pleasant surprise. Of course, we saved room for dessert. And that is what Farrell's is all about. We all got shakes or sundaes and we all loved them. One last point. Overall, I was thinking about a three star review especially with the check-in and the cold fries. But the service was so good, I have to give them 4. Our server was on top of everything. The rest of the staff were helpful and you could see they were having so much fun singing along to the music and joking with the customers. It is noisy, they sound the siren more than I would have liked, there are a lot of loud kids, but it's Farrell's. you can't expect anything different. I am curious to go back to see if they can tweak some of the problems and make the place better but, since it was what my wife wanted, I was pleased today.

I remember growing up in Oregon and enjoying birthday parties at Farrell's and the crazy servers with straw hats and high-octane drum majors creating a cacophony of noise and sickly sweet ice cream treats. It still exists. Not only that, it hasn't changed a bit in the decades since. The banana split was awesome and severely overly syrupy sweet. Just the way I like it. Farrell's exists in a void that has completely ignored the gourmet/Food Network-ification of food service in America. Oompa Loompas could hop out of the bass drums or latrines full of frozen sugar milk at a moment's notice. Avoid this place like the plague if you want a quiet experience or don't want to get your fingers sticky.

ok, so I finally broke down and went to this place. I expected there to be a wait because people are always outside waiting. That is not why they get 2 stars. After getting our table, it takes about 10 minutes to orde our drinks. The atmosphere is exuberant. Full of life, singing, dancing, fun times. So now that we have our drinks, Im waiting for the fun. These people have to be having a good time about something. ehhh. So we order after 20 minutes. We already knew what we wanted when we were given the menu while we waited. 45 minutes later for two hamburgers and fries was way to long of a wait. The manager even came out to apologize. Once again, I have to get up to get a refill on my water. I go up to the desert counter where they have the drinking fountain and they tell me that my server is the one that has to get my drink. After telling them that he is no help, I go to the kitchen and get my own refill. not worth the wait once you get inside nor the service. No dancing at my table.
