It's places like this that make me LOVE YELP!!! I never ever ever would have found this place secluded in the middle of an industrial park. The lowdown: SUPER FAST, friendly service! Delish sangwiches! The obvious draw??? The bread!!! Super yum!!! Warm, crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy inside. Perfect!! One kiddo had a salami (got a smile out of a 13 year old... Score!!!), one had a mustard and cheese (she's 5, don't judge), spousal had a veggie something or other and ate it up, and I grubbed on a tuna sandwich. Well worth the drive off the beaten path. And other, closer locations (like by my sister in San Rafael??) YAY!!

FOOD: It is always near perfect a sandwich. Consistent. Plentiful. Balanced. SERVICE: Fast. Efficient. Polite. Nice. PRICE: $6.99 for the sandwich, drinks and chops variable. Very reasonable for the quality and size. We love the place.

Simple, quick, easy place to get great sandwiches. Always popular around lunchtime, the sourdough is tasty and the contents are generous. You won't be disappointed.

  • Chris S.

Great sandwich. Bread is a little crunchy.

This place is BOMB!! I work at Nissan around the corner so it's dangerous to my thighs but soooo worth it!! So far I have tried #'s 1,10,11,17, 20, 25 and 26 from the menu and #11 is my favorite...who doesn't like a massive grilled cheese!!! nom nom nom lol I have had the Chef and Chicken Caesar salads on multiple occasions and the Caesar is my fav. These are NOT diet friendly salads!! They are massive!!! Super delicious though. :-) Specials: I have only tried the Chicken Pesto and it was A-MAZE-ING!!! I love this spot!! I just wish I had the will power to stay away for the sake of my thighs and butt!! LOL One of things I love about this place is that I can place my order ahead of time online for a set time, this feature is great!!

  • Cadi V.

This place is amazing ! Bread is fresh and aMAZing! I love when my honey brings me home a chef salad ! Makes me light up! He likes #4 turkey roastbeef and ham! Stacked worth meat ! If you are a man who likes meat get this ! I like their salami if im getting sammie ! Dont forget they have punch cards! Bring your appetite these sammies are filling!!!

  • Kolby V.

Compared to Ray's, Lucchesi and Mr. Pickles, this place is mediocre. If you're just looking for sourdough it's good enough but I am not impressed with the ratio's of ingredients or the quality.

  • Kate M.

My office is nearby so we grab lunch here quite a bit. The staff are always nice and you can order ahead and pick up. Never been disappointed in the sandwiches and the bread is the best.

    (4)
  • Jfn S.

O.k., I don't get the raving reviews - the staff was really friendly, but overall the sandwich was flavorless, the lettuce and tomatoes were watery and the bread was dense, pale and doughy! If size matters, fine, the sandwich was big.

    (3)
  • Ryan W.

Best sandos bar none. The bread sets it off. It's fresh baked. Their quick and courteous. And did I mention the bomb ass sourdough bread it's served on. Damn good

    (5)
  • Donald M.

How can anything not be good on this fabulous bread. I,m use to the crowed one in San Rafael. Will be back

I take it all the 5 star reviews never had good sourdough before? Anyway this place has great sourdough bread. The meat is average and so is the vegetables. The only thing unique is the spicy mayo or mustard i think? I'm addicted to bread lets just say. But when you walk in its like a stare down. There is like 6 people behind a small counter staring at you waiting for you to order. I feel pressured every time I walk in. This time I got the chicken sandwich. The chicken is chewy and cold. Made me want to puke! I cant stand cold chicken and chewy at that! I'm ok with sandwich meat but not a chicken breast cold and chewy. My sandwich was suppose to be hot ! I decided to throw the chicken away and eat the bread lol. I would love this place if they had more options like soup and better salads and trimmings. And not the awkward stare down.. But yay for good bread!

  • Adam P.

Great sandwiches! We have never been disappointed eating lunch here. Highly recommend.

    (5)
  • Rachel F.

It's a downright amazing sammich. The price on the menue is what you pay no matter what you put on it (avacados are exempt from this) The size is HUGE and its not ALL bread. They have all different types on sammichs. I just keep going back.

    (5)
  • Dana L.

Yay! SIX STARS!!! I finally found a great sandwich in Sonoma County!!! This place compares with my Southern California favorite, "Busy Bee" & my Humboldt County favorite, "Hole in the wall." Except I think this place has BETTER bread than both! Plus the service is really friendly. The guy taking my order was very accommodating to my specific requests. The sandwiches were amazing! Perfect job! We love a sandwich with lots of yummy mustard & mayo and the shredded lettuce, yummy cheese and veggies were all perfect! We will be back! (Maybe even this week!!) :)

  • JJ H.

Puzzled, I just don't get all the high ratings. Have you guys never had a real deli sandwich? Sandwich comes on a big doughy roll so it is filling although the bread is nothing to write home about. The meat was very average lunch meat. I had the reuben and I guess since Michael's doesn't advertise itself as a deli I shouldn't have expected good corned beef. This meat was processed rubbery slices with no flavor. I fed some to my dog and he liked it.

I have been coming to this location for years. They also have shops in a few other spots. I've been to the one in San Rafael. I have been pleased with the food here and will continue to come back unless some drastic changes for the worse are made. Hours open are during lunch time and they close early IIRC. I got there and they were closed twice now over the years because I forget they are closed when other places are open.

  • John E.

Fantastic sandwiches.. They come on a fresh baked sourdough roll. The bread makes the sandwich so good. Sometimes the lines are long but your food comes up really fast. A couple can easily split a sandwich and have plenty to eat.. We eat there at least twice a month..

    (5)
  • Paolo D.

Place is outstanding. The sandwiches are huge for the affordable price. Guaranteed to leave full on the stomach. Their staff is very friendly and courteous. I always go for their chicken Caesar salad , pastrami sandwich , basil cream chicken and cordon blue.

  • Mark S.

Whata you gonna say... Theres a reason this place is packed Great menu, BIG great sandwiches on yummy bread. Call ahead for your order..and make sure your hungry.

  • Michelle L.

Lots of 5 stars for Michael's Sourdough, but I only thought it was average. Maybe because I went with high expectations since all my coworkers were raving about it. I end up getting #20, North Beach, which is the turkey and salami sandwich. For the price $7, this was a steal! The sandwich was huge and could easily be share among two people. The sourdough bread, through fresh, was a bit too crunchy for my liking (though the inside was soft). I couldn't really taste the turkey, but the salami was decent. Overall, I could come again and try another sandwich!

  • Marie B.

What a great find! Fresh, soft, warm sourdough bread, very clean place. Our sandwiches were made to order ad very fast! The only thing I did not like is that the mayo seems to be a mixed sauce of some sort. It was very good but it would be cool if they wrote that on the menu someplace. Lastly, like a bonehead I walked out of there and left my purse hanging on the chair. I realized it close to an hour later. I called and the man told me he had my purse. I went and picked it up and everything was intact, money still there and looked as if no one had even dug through it. Its always nice to find some place that is honest. Great find, will be back again!

I still think about these sandwiches sometimes.

  • Dan M.

Consistently one of my favorite sandwiches in town. Growing up in Novato and going to college in San Rafael, I frequented both the Novato and San Rafael locations for many years, and was super excited when the Petaluma location opened. It is just as good as the other two. The #4 is my go to sandwich, and it is always excellent. Word of advice, try to call your order in ahead of time and you can skip most of the line.

I heard all the rave reviews and such things for the past 2 years and finally made it out to eat here. I admit I was kind of confused about the menu at first. I wanted a sandwich that contained tomato, provolone cheese, and avocado. The rest of the sandwich contents were negligible. Of course, after staring at their menu for so long, I saw that my options were sandwiches with no avocado and all offered swiss cheese. Bleh. My bf asked the sandwich magician behind the counter if they had avocado, and provolone cheese, and thus I regained my appetite and went for the veggie sandwich, with provolone and avocado. Score. I thought their sourdough bread would be sliced for some reason, but they are kind of like crunchy rolls....of sourdough. I don't usually like a lot of bread, but the roll worked and since the bread was still warm, I didn't find the crust too crunchy. I was only able to get through half my sandwich though, even though I tried my best. I hear that they do run out of bread, usually after their lunch rush as it's in a business location. I hear that they have backup bread, but it's just backup bread and not the sourdough deliciousness that people come here for. Their potato salad is alright. Sweet, not eggy. Try it, if you're into that. I thought their garden salad was pretty sweet as well. Avocado, olives, tomatoes, and delicious ranch. Yum. 3 and a half stars but I rounded up to be nice.

Delicious sandwich. The bread is to die for; however I wish they would pile on more meat. For one sandwich & a bag of chips about $9

    (4)
  • Glenn C.

Michaels is the best Sandwich shop in the county, PERIOD! I love the staff, the flow and of course the great fresh Sando's I usually make my own combo and grab chips and a drink, prices are great and the Sourdough Bread is always the best in town Keep up the great sandwich making!

    Yuuuuum!

  • Kristine A.

Large sandwiches for a reasonable price. Lots of choices for sandwiches. We go here often for lunch. Delicious sandwich bread. Friendly employees. Quiet outside seating. Quick service. They have a frequent buyer plan for sandwiches which gives a free sandwich for every 9 sandwiches bought

  • Cindy D.

went to Michael's sourdough in Rohnert Park. Will never never go back or recommend this place to any one, afraid they may get sick. Person taking order was nice, Watched them making sandwiches, and ring people up, NO ONE WASHED their hands.Talk about cross contamination EEK,The person on the register toughed money then went and touched a sandwich, asked if they could wash there hands, they did, then to my amazement wiped the wet hands on there PANTS, DOUBLE EEK, Should of walked out my mistake, told the lady she said it was ok. I don't think so.had nu# 26 I didn't know basil was orange???? plus one slice meat really for $7.19?. what happened to food service??

  • Sean R.

This place is not your typical highly rated sandwich shop. It does not appear to be a restaurant from the outside, it looks more like an contractors office. Don't let that throw you off though, the sandwiches here are delicious and the staff is friendly. As others have said, their sourdough is really good.

    (5)
  • Jeff S.

Got em on speed dial for lunchtime bliss. Fast and super tasty.

    (5)
  • Ryan B.

This is really a great local sandwch stop. The bread is really what I crave when I go here and will keep you coming back. The sandwiches are tasty as ever and are certainly sizable. The specials are really good, big fan of the Godfather!

    (4)
  • Zachary C.

This is a pretty good little place that's hidden away in an office park. The sourdough bread is baked fresh. Typical sandwich fare. I work nearby, so I eat here about once every month or two.

    (3)
  • James A.

Awesome sandwiches. Try the 'Sourdough', its top knotch.

    (5)
  • Nick H.

Having now moved out of the area, I long for a sandwich shop of the same caliber. I miss your bread and customer service !

  • Richard C.

Today was my first visit to Michael's and I was very pleased. The bread was incredible. I ordered the number 4 which has roast beef, ham, and turkey. The sandwich is enough for two. At only $7.00 it is a good value. It's a little of the beaten path but worth the trip.

Found this place thanks to Yelpers. We were driving through Petaluma and needed to find a quick kid-friendly place to stop off for a bit. We thought we took a wrong turn when we arrived because it is in some sort of industrial area. The co-owner, Rudy, was there that day, and he was very friendly and helpful. I asked him why it was not called "Rudy's Sourdough", and he laughed and said it was named after his partner, not him. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. Two sandwiches were more than enough to feed both of us and our hungry toddler. The pastrami was great, but it was the sourdough bread that was the star. I am not usually a huge sourdough fan, but now I am a convert. There was just something about the chewy, yet pillowy soft bread. Too bad we live nowhere near this place because I would go back anytime.

    (5)
  • Noelle L.

Best sandwich EVER! It's all about the bread! They make their own sourdough. It's incredible. As soon as you walk in the door you get hit with the smell of warm sourdough. The portions are HUGE! Easily could split one between two people. I also love that they shred the lettuce, instead of putting a big crappy leaf on it like a lot of the shops do around here. If you're in Marin, try their San Rafael location. Just as good, but hidden away just like this one.

  • Trevor F.

Checked out this spot after grabbing some beers at Lagunitas Brewery nearby. I am a fanatic for deli sandwiches and had some high hopes going in. Don't let the location throw you -- this place is legit. While there, there was a steady stream of locals stopping in for their daily sandwich (always a good sign). I went with the North Beach (salami and turkey), and the girlfriend went with the chicken salad. The owner was very nice and the place is very clean. The bread was excellent -- crunchy and fresh. The deli meat was really good and they had a good balance of meats and veggies (I don't want six inches of salami and turkey!!). Combined with a good atmosphere, I recommend this place for dine-in or takeout.

    (4)
  • William H.

I don't rarely give five stars. But these are the best sandwiches. Amazing bread.

    (5)
  • Andrew W.

THE BEST! Their bread starts off the amazing experience that is eating a sourdough sandwich. The food is always great! Fresh produce and the highest quality of meat combine to make a delicious sandwich! The selection of drinks and chips to go with your sandwich are all their. The service is always fast friendly and courteous. If you have eaten at other Michael's sourdough spots you may find that the Petaluma location gives you even more of the delicious sourdough bread that makes their wonderful sandwiches what they are!

    (5)
  • Brittany E.

I stopped in here last week on my lunch break and I LOVED their fresh sourdough bread!!! It was warm and crunchy on the outside, while soft and warm on the inside. I just had the turkey sandwich, which without the bread was nothing spectacular; however they claim to roast their own turkey and that was delicious!! I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the actual sandwiches were just your standard, run of the mill, deli sandwiches. Nothing new and creative.. When in this area for lunch I will be back. It's in a little industrial part of Petaluma but is a simple deli on the inside.

    (4)
  • Michelle K.

This place has my favorite sandwich. Pesto chicken. Beware though....it isn't on the menu since it is fridays special. They usually have it other days if you ask for it, but on occasion they won't. I recommend strawberry lemonade to go with that perfect sandwich.

    (5)
  • Lacey T.

Great food! Staff is so friendly. Quick service. Food is always the way I order it. Love this place

    (5)
  • Caroline L.

Delicious and very generous sandwiches served on their trademark pipping hot sourdough bread. Well built with a good meat/cheese/veggie ratio and enough but not too much mustard/mayo. Fair selection of drinks and chips. Decent coffee. What sets this place apart is the service. Friendly, curteous, the kind that bends over backward to make sure you have a good experience. And, its spottless. You could eat off the floors. Not that you would since they have comfortable chairs and tables available. I will not visit Lombardi's again after being here. No comparison.

  • Hey La P.

I was visiting a friend in the area and begged her to take me to Michael's Sourdough. I had been hearing such great things about it. I ordered the Basil Cream Chicken sandwich. I feel like such a hater but I just wasn't impressed. Yes, the bread was warm, soft, and yummy but the chicken had a weird texture to it - like it was the pre-packaged, already cooked grilled chicken you'd get from the grocery store. I am also not a big fan of finely shredded lettuce. It wasn't the delicious, deli-quality sandwich I had been hoping for. Maybe my expectations were too high? I know I'll come back to give it another try when I'm in the area. I'm determined to see what other people see in these sandwiches. But for now, there are other deli sandwiches I will be enjoying.

  • Becky G.

After reading the other reviews I expected more. It was okay, but definitely not the best sandwich I've ever eaten. The bread was fresh and very good-it was the best part. The meat also tasted fresh, but the sandwiches seemed very bare bones. I asked for vinegar to spice it up and they added some weird oil concoction that did nothing at all for the flavor. As far as portion size, it was decent but I'm not a big eater and I was able to eat the whole sandwich without feeling stuffed. It wasn't terrible but I would look for something better before I would eat here again.

    (3)
  • Rohit P.

Nice place! I recommend it. Pros: The bread is fresh and is very good. They make it at their own place. Nicely filled and enough for lunch Cons: Was not so delicious as the other place in downtown. But for someone who likes raw ( no spices etc.) this is a must to go place. If you are vegetarian, yes this place has something for you.

    (3)
  • Roberto G.

Great sandwich! Without trying to sounding redundant the toasted bread is the topper... I get the #5 with avocado and it's great every time. So why not five stars? Because after adding avocado it's almost a 10 dollar sandwich.

    (4)
  • Ramin R.

Cheap, fast and tasty. Really good sourdough!

    (4)
  • Iris I.

I am very picky about chicken salad, and Michael's is really good. The bread is fantastic. And now that they have a spot just a few blocks form my office in Rohnert Park, I will be able to eat there more often

    (4)
  • CJ N.

First impression: Typical Industrial Deli setup, Nice people, Busy at lunch. Service: The line might look long, But man, how efficient, it goes quickley! Get your money ready, NO AMEX THOUGH! Dang. Nice people, owners seem to always be there. FAST FAST FAST. Food: THE BREAD! One of a kind, wensdays special, turkey, applewood bacon, AWESOME/ and they give you a pickle on the side, genius. One of the best sandwiches in town. Wish i could get it on a saturday, or sunday! :( CHECK IT OUT! W

This is my favorite sandwich place in Sonoma County. They have the best sourdough sandwich bread there is anywhere, their meats are top quality and the sandwiches are big. If you eat like a bird it's two meals. The original Sourdough is on First St. in San Jose across from the County Building. I used to eat there about once a week and really missed the place. I jumped for joy when I found the one in Petaluma to be the same as the in SJ. There's also one in Novato and you can't go wrong in any location.

    (5)
  • Richard T.

I will start by saying their bread is fantastic and sandwiches are tasty... However, I cannot give the store 4 stars with the actions of someone that seemed like an owner or other significant position at the store... As we were sitting down to eat, the man sitting by our side was at a table speaking to someone on his phone as an older woman was trying to get into the store, but was having trouble opening the door. As this is going on, the man starts to laugh and explain to the person on the phone how this woman is having a hard time laughing at her every move. Another good samaritan though got up to open the door, at which point the man tells him to not open the door because it is funny for him to watch. He ignores him and opens the door anyways, much to he man at the tables dismay which he shared by grumbling, even after the good samaritan pleads that "it was an old lady"... Then as another woman walks by she tells the man at the table something I did not hear, but based on his waving his arm in a dismissive way, I feel like she also shared her thoughts about his laughing at the other woman, to which again, he acts rudely. Usually I would simply ignore what I saw, but after realizing he was an owner or other person of importance at the store based on his interactions with the employees I felt compelled to share my experience. I will not condone anybody at a store being disrespectful to its patrons, especially not someone of importance. Beware, you might become the next laughing stock of the store...

  • Abel S.

What I had was filling and tasty. I love the fresh warm bread that screams "Eat me!". So far Petaluma has the best Sandwich spots in Sonoma County. So many to choose from to have a favorite.

    (5)
  • Danielle M.

Wasn't too impressed. The bread makes the sandwich. And, $20 is a bit expensive for 2 sandwiches and drinks....

    (3)
  • Jack B.

They were out of the pesto sauce for the chicken sandwich so I got a chicken salad. It was very good. The bread really is nice. You get a pickle slice with it-yum.

    (4)
  • Susan K.

Not much better than warm sourdough bread with your choice of meats, cheeses, veggies, and condiments. Half the sandwich is usually enough to eat, but often plan ahead and eat it all. I enjoy it most when the breads warm--and that's most of the time. YUMMY!!

    (4)
  • Diane D.

I was disappointed on my last visit here a few days ago. One word: SKIMPY. I had a turkey/salami on sourdough. The whole sandwich was very mediocre. Small amount of tasteless turkey, a few slices of ordinary salami, a tissue thin slice of pale, pink tomato, 2 strings of red onion and a barely there slice of cheese. The bread also is not crusty or crunchy enough. 5 more minutes in the oven, maybe? So many sandwich spots and this one is nothing special at all. I won't be back.

    (3)
  • Brian P.

Easily the best sandwich in the North Bay, Michael's is absolutely incredible. The bread makes a sandwich, and Michael's holds nothing back in this department. It is always soft inside, crispy on the outside, and warm to the touch. I can not eat a sandwich from anywhere else without commenting on "how much better this would taste with Micheal's bread". It's that good. The rest of the ingredients are always quality, and there is usually a very short wait even when the place is chock full of people. (Often.) I must include that this place will not charge for extras on your sandwich (except meats and avocados) like so many places will. I sometimes order avocado despite of the charge and they use nearly an entire one! I'm always stuffed when I leave too. Try the special on Wednesday, it's a great turkey club with thick-cut bacon. Also, their chicken salad is fantastic; they use some spicing that makes it a reddish color and the flavor is amazing. The best sandwiches I've had. Period.

    (5)
  • Jodi A.

Hot, fresh sourdough bread. The most delicious Swiss cheese ever. Oh, and they make a tuna salad unlike any other -- it's more mustard and spice than it is heavy with mayo. I see some people saying you can split it between two people, but honestly... nobody is going to get their hands on my Michael's sandwich.

    (5)
  • Ryan W.

Michaels is off the hook if you are in the mood for a fat sando! This place is consistent. I've been coming here for 10 years and it is always delicious. The pastrami is one of the best in Marin for shizzle.

    (5)
  • Sean P.

I saw this place for several months but never had the time or chance to stop in for a sandwich. Upon doing so I found a great selection, clean atmosphere and friendly service. The bread is delicious and the variety of signature sandwiches makes it easy for anyone to find something they like. No complaints about this place, other than the location. (they are so far out of the way that I don't usually consider them when going to lunch) I'm also a bit partial to a "deli" feel and this place doesn't score very high on atmosphere, being in a business park next to two offices, but give it atry and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

    (3)
  • Amy Y.

Warm fresh sourdough bread makes this place a top choice when I'm looking for a great sandwich. They have locations in Petaluma, Novato and San Rafael, all of which are consistently delicious. They are not big on their decor and almost always located in industrial settings, but this place can bang out an amazing sandwich. Give it a try! Mmmmm.

    (5)
  • Tom M.

This is the same as the Michael's in San Rafael where I use to go for lunch once in a while. Its great having another one so close to home. Their sandwiches were are awesome!

    (4)
  • Joe C.

This is everything I have ever asked for in a sandwich, as long as I eat it hot, right away. In my experience, it's just another sandwich when eaten cold.

    (5)
  • Jillian O.

Michael's Sourdough sandwiches are easily the best sandwiches in Petaluma. I work about 1/2 block down from Michael's and every one in my office loves their sandwiches. If you came in on any given day, there would be at least 3 or 4 of my co-workers with Michael's. They make their own sourdough bread, they roast their own meats, and everything is prepared daily. It's family owned and if you go in more than 2 or 3 times the owners will remember you. Even though they don't put pickels on their sandwiches, you can ask for them and it's free. They have a lot of specialty sandwiches, but you can pretty much just build your own if you don't want to go with the "Dusty Dog" or the "North Beach". The only thing bad I have to say is, I wish they were open on weekends so I could get a sandwich on a Saturday or Sunday!

    (5)
  • S V.

I love this place. I rarely go to deli's but I love this place. They are easy to order and great food. It is kind of hidden, which I like. Only the select few know.

    (5)
  • D G.

Tried it, heard way to much on how good it was. Well the bread seems under baked, the prices are a bit high and it just plan was OK tasting. I may give it another try.... Most likely not...

    (1)
  • Nancy P.

hands down, best sourdough in town. and the best deli sandwiches. it's usually pretty packed around early lunch (12-1) as it is in the center of the industrial area (genius!). the two times i've been there were the best: 11:30 & 2:00. the bread is always extremely hot & fresh. it's amazing. i usually stick to a pretty simple sandwich, but my wingman usually mixes it up a bit. last time, the dusty dog; chicken-apple sausage with onion, cheese and the fixings. tasty. probably a little more than you're used to paying for a deli sando, but man-oh-man your taste buds will be thanking your wallet!

    (5)
  • Chris b.

always a solid spot for a sando! i love the pesto one all up in my face!

    (4)
  • Brad A.

Best sandwiches in Petaluma hands down! I go to Michael's in Petaluma at least once a week and its always a tasty treat. I usually go for the North Beach or Cordon Bleu those are my favs. Their homemade sourdough bread, quick service, descent price, and always crunchy slice of pickle will keep me coming back time after time. (TIP) If your like me and have a 30 min lunch then I recommend calling your order in cause they can get pretty busy around noon. They are always friendly too ;)

    (5)
  • Ed P.

i get the hot pastrami sando here and it's heavenly. great food quality and taste.

Best sandwiches ever... Loved them in San rafael.... Happy they have expanded up this way :)

  • Mark G.

It has some great specials, ( Wed. Turkey club for instance) and some others, and yes the bread is the best. It caters to the business lunch crowd, and you " watercress aioli boutique'rs" looking for Larkspur ladeedah won't like it. Every one has they're expectations and this is it's own baby. Lombardi's Ruben ( on a soft roll) is better in a classic sense, Willie birds smoked turkey sandwich place (i,e,) dump in Sebastopol is great. But the best thin sliced Roast Beef sandwich is hands down The CreekSide deli in Southern Hamilton area of Ignacio (Novato). back to the place at hand. I could eat at Micheals every day.

The best sandwich shop in Petaluma? You have to be kidding. The BEST sandwich in Petaluma is probably Della Fattoria, though not really considered a sandwich shop I admit. Bianchini's is pretty darn good. I ate at Michaels today, and the sandwich was decent, service good. It IS fresh baked sourdough, but not the best sourdough you ever tasted by a fair piece. Its clean, though has a peculiar odor (Maybe just today, I had not eaten there recently) I would eat there again, but its not THAT good.

This location has been open about 3 months. I happened upon it by accident while driving down Corona Rd. heading to another place for lunch. As a very long-time customer of the original San Rafael shop, I was delighted to see someone open one in Petaluma. The #1 reason to get a sandwich here is that they make their sourdough rolls from scratch and they are delicious. Generally speaking, deli meat is deli meat and although their meat is good, it's hard to stand out in this department. The bread is what separates it from your other garden variety deli. I had the #25 (Dusty Dog) today, which is a chicken apple sausage sandwich. Delicious.
