I'll give it 4. And only because I got what I was looking for. I wanted cold beer, at a reasonable price. Got it. I wanted a good crowd who wasn't looking for trouble, just good times and laughs. Got it. The food was cheap... and underpriced 10 bucks for a beautiful pizza? I'll take it... 5 bucks for a 24 Oz domestic? I'm in. The wait staff is busy. But if you come in with respect, you get respect. You tip well, you get takin care of even better the next time. Great place.

Love eating here! They make great salads and the bread is delish!! We always have a nice time but an even better time when we get Tiffani as our server. Tiffani is awesome and always pleasant to chat with.

Heard they got shut down because they were serving alcohol to minors. No surprise. Each time I went in for drinks their servers were drunk. They could often be seen doing shots in the hallway behind the bar.

Everything was absolutely awesome !! Environment was cool, staff wasfriendly. The only one downfall is the sausage was a little on the dry side... If that was done to perfection like everything else, they would have gotten all 5's !!!!

This is my favorite place to go on Wednesday nights. They have $2 beers with over 150 varieties and their pizzas are half-off. It makes a fun, cheap, and delicious choice for date night! It very quickly became my fiance's and my go-to place and the waitresses know us now. We have tried every pizza and they are all amazing! Service can be a little slow later in the evening or if they are really busy, but hey if you've got plenty of sports to watch and good beer to drink who cares? The noise level can be a little high when a popular game/match is on so don't expect some quiet conversation or personal reflection to happen at this place.

Took a friend here for his 21st birthday and the bartender was awesome! Got us free shots and was super chill. Prices were really good too.

Went here when they first opened and found the bland and over cooked and didn't go back until last week. Several of us from work decided to go for lunch. After much discussion among us and the waiter we decided to eat in the dining room and not the bar. This was probably our second mistake (first one was going there). We asked about a lunch menu that was posted on line and our waiter told us there wasn't one. As we were ordering one of us noticed a lunch menu printed on a wine bottle at the end of the table (pizza and salad). The waiter seemed not to know this menu existed. One of us ordered from this menu and the rest of us ordered burgers and appetizers. The burgers were ordered medium and medium rare and both were burnt, dry and inedible. The pizza had a hair in it and no salad. We sent the pizza back and asked for the salad. Two of us suffered through the burgers only eating half of each. When we got the bill we noticed we were charged $8 more each than the menu listed for the appetizers and the burgers were a penny more. We pointed out the appetizer discrepancy (the penny was just weird) and the waiter went back to the kitchen where we overheard someone say we got the large portion - which wasn't on our menu? In the end, they reduced the bill to the correct amount and took off the pizza. Seemed the waiter was new and not trained so it is a little hard to be angry with him. What I found more annoying was that the manager never came over given our numerous problems. She appeared on the floor and was delivering food and must have fixed our bill so she was available and aware. I can't imagine ever going back.

Sometimes I really do wish Yelp would allow me to assign zero stars to a review. Let me tell you why... Firstly, our waitress (I'll withhold her full name, but will say it started with an N) was completely useless. We were seated within a minute or two of walking in (cool), but it took forever for N to come and ask us for our drink order. And then once she got our requests (large glass of chardonnay and a Peroni) she just turned away and started talking to another server. No "thanks I'll be right back with bread" or "here I'll take your menus and grab you some bread". We just sat there blinking, holding our menus. Ohkay... A semi-short eternity later, we finally received our drinks and some bread. My husband asked me if I thought this was the bread served at Auschwitz, since it was ridiculously hard and stale. WTF? Oh and we really weren't too keen on our beverages - he said his Peroni was skunked and my chardonnay (yes, my fault for ordering the cheapest glass of white on the menu) tasted worse than the Vegas casino floor free crap the cocktail waitresses bring you if you spend enough time at a slot machine. I really should have listened to my husband when he asked me to cancel our food order, because at that point, we'd been waiting around at least 30 minutes and had probably had our beverages for a whole 5. It really wan't crowded enough to warrant that kind of wait. N had great timing on her part when she came over about two seconds after hubs suggested we pay and get the hell out of Dodge by telling us "your food should be right out." Why am I such a sucker? I ordered the chicken scaloppini (their spelling not mine...see! carinos.com/menu/75122/B… ) and he had the trio. Dis-a-ppointing. My pasta COULD have been good. The chicken and mushrooms and bacon were edible, but I was confused by the lack of sauce. Well, really, I should say the misplacement of the sauce. It seemed like my pasta wasn't tossed in the sauce, but rather had the sauce ladled into one corner of my plate as an afterthought. As for hubs' dinner...so sad. How the hell do you mess up chicken parm, lasagna, and spaghetti?! The chicken inside the parm wasn't bad, but the breading was absolutely tasteless. The spaghetti was coated in what looked (and tasted) like that pre-juice that comes out of the squeezy ketchup bottle if you didn't shake it up properly. So bizarre. Oh, and the lasagna? Tasted like rye bread. No joke. Hubs took a bite and said "what is this weird taste?", and handed me a fork-full. I took one nibble and was immediately reminded of a reuben sandwich from Jerry's Deli. Only I'd really liken it to my other one-star reviewed restaurant Dink's Deli, since really, EW. Lasagna SHOULD NOT taste like rye bread! As if she sensed our hate towards the entire experience, as N dropped of the check she said "sorry about the wait, it just got so crazy there for a bit". We rubbernecked our heads around to look at the restaurant...half of the damn building is taken up by the (very popular) bar, and then half of the dining room area was a ghost town. She tried to get sympathy, but it just left me seething. We are restaurant people. We love going out and never leave booze behind, and if there is leftover food I always take a box to-go. Yeah...check out the picture I uploaded...food AND booze left behind. THAT is how bad it was. So, pretty much needless to say, but we will not be returning to Carino's.

These people don't deserve the one star I'm FORCED to leave. There were so many things wrong w my visit here. I will never be back to any Carinos because of this place. First off, they had a wine menu but didn't have anything I requested, once we found a wine they DID have they didn't have enough to give us a bottle like we wanted. On top of that once the wine WAS brought over there were multiple lipstick stains on my glass. Didn't even look faded. Sent it back then the girl brings a fresh glass but I couldn't help but wonder, if they couldn't accommodate the bottle how could they bring me a fresh glass w fresh wine??? Scary freakin thought. Glasses weren't the only things dirty, our table was disgusting, the menus looked like they were never cleaned. Why we stayed I'll never know. To add to it all I was seriously sick the next day and wouldn't be surprised if it's from the nastiness that is this restaurant. AVOID at all costs!!! DONT GO IN!!!!!!

Food took way too long. They thought they did us a favor when they brought the kids food out first. Salads came late. And by the time our food was served our kids were bored and ready to leave. My husband's food was cold. My dinner I ordered was basically a bland chicken breast with a deli slice of ham on top. Thrown together carelessly. Most frustrating thing is you can see the kitchen staff just chit chatting and taking their sweet time while they are wasting yours. Never ever going back. Bet this place closes within a year. Aweful service. Bad management

Worst service ever! With their low food and alcohol prices, they hire the worst servers! The bartender Kristi B is the worst at customer services and friendliness. We have had her a few times, and she just ignores her customers and disappears for the longest time. Do not go here!

  • April A.

The drinks were good. The bartender was very generous with the Jack and Cokes me and my friend ordered. And I've never eaten there so I ordered the calamari as an appetizer.. and it was amazing! I really enjoyed it. They could've served a bit more on the plate in my opinion, cause I know Olive Garden has calamari too and they serve a bit more. But I was very satisfied with the food and drinks there. Happy hour or not the prices were good, and the food was really good too. I loved the pizza it was very delicious.

I wish I had read the reviews before I decided to come here. Even with a special I got via email, this place should be avoided. They couldn' t give this stuff away. Our meals showed up barley room temperature. Asked for fries well done but got cold food. Waitress was good and polite. Earlier comment on nationality of Staff may have something to do with it. Jury is still out if we ever consider returning here. Between the Waitress and another Employee (could have been the Manager, he wore I different color shirt but no name tag to identify him as the Boss) we did get fries well done as requested and some hot food.

I want to give this three stars, but here's why I can't. Never, in all my life, would I think that smashing a sports bar into a family style Italian restaurant would be even close to a good idea. Never, ever. But that's precisely what these cads did. Don't get me wrong, there's lots of space; solid drink deals ($3 for a 20oz Dos Equis?!); and the wait staff isn't bad either. Those are the perks. Why the hell they elected to slap a bunch of neon signs on the walls and drape DirectTV NFL banners about, I'll never understand. It cheapens the entire thing; especially when paired with the slightly up-scale logo they came up with for the bar itself. I'm amazed that the noise doesn't carry over into the dining area more, as it can get loud. I think if they were to remove the neons, lose the banners, tone down the classic sports pictures and make it more of a tavern than a sports bar, I think it could work. Until then, it just won't make sense to me.

This use to be my favorite place but haven't been here in a while..... They must have changed ownership because it is definitely not the same... Service was great but food not so good .... Lasagna was not warm, and for 14 dollars it should have been more... I would prefer the microwave Italian restaurant Olive Garden

I was so sad to find out our favorite server (Julian) was gone. She always made us feel so comfortable and was such an amazing server. Such an amazing smile & personality. Most of the other servers seem so snobby. The food has changed so much. In fact everything has changed so much. It's just not as good at all. It's always so messy and unfriendly now. Doubt we will be returning.

Carrino's probably has the best happy hour going on right now. 1. It's all day everyday... and they have an insane selection. You can get anything from Arrogant Bastard to Old Rasputin for $2. 1/2 off pizzas. 2. Their service is also probably the worst in the Antelope Valley. Honestly, they just need more help. It's been busy each time I've visited and they are just slammed. 3. Last time my friend and I split the roasted vegetable ranch pizza. It was soo good! I will def be back because it's so much fun trying beer for $2...I at least know what to expect with the service.

Kind of shocked by the low scores for Carino's. I've been coming here since they opened and always enjoyed it. The last time I went our server was extremely attentive, always getting us refills before our glasses were empty, bringing out more bread without question. Our food came out smoldering hot and fresh. My husband got the Chicken Alfredo and I got the Five Cheese Tortellini with their half marinara/half Alfredo sauce. His chicken was tender and flavorful just on it's own. The Alfredo delicious and creamy but not heavy. The Totellini was huge and though there were only about 5 or 6 actual Totellini on the plate it was enough to fill me up. The sauce was savory and flavorful. The baked cheese on top was a bit much, but other than that the plate was wondeful. We also had Carino's cater our wedding little over year ago. The food matched the quality of our dine-in experience. Though the portions were smaller than we expected. We were expecting full sized catering trays instead of slightly deeper half size trays. Luckily there was enough for everyone to eat, but we had just scraped by. I can understand the sub-par experiences listed by fellow Yelpers, and I'm assuming it's because of the restaurant being understaffed. When they first opened the place was flowing with wait staff. But the more recent times we've come in there only seems to be a hostess and a waitress. I'm also guessing that's why they only host dinner hours during the weekdays (Opening at 4pm) which is quite a shame on both counts. However, it's not going to deter us from visiting Carino's when we feel the desire for their cuisine.

This place use to advertise 200 different beers in stock. I love trying different craft beers so i love to go here. But in the last year or so they cut that down to 100 beers. Which is fine but they never actually have more then about 25 of those 100. 25 is still fine but dont advertise 100 if u NEVER have them. Food is good and decently priced. Not as crowded as it use to be so no complaints here. I will continue to come here just wish they had a bigger selection of beers like they advertise.

Thursday night is .25 cent chicken wings and $6 Martini's...French Tickler is my favorite. The service can be slow as they get really busy around game time, but they come often enough not to irritate me. Plenty of TVs screens, good but inexpensive food and nice drinks priced right. My favorite spot is by the fireplace in the bar area so if you see me...please move out of the way! Thanks

After finding 3 stray HAIRS in my appetizer, and then in my dinner... followed by the manager telling us how "he couldn't believe that it could happen more than once, there are a lot of people here so maybe it flew in." I am utterly disgusted and will never be back. I used to work for this particular restaurant and am astonished by how bad it has become! Service was awful, female bartender was rude, manager was a joke... I will never visit Johnny Carinos or it's affiliate restaurants. Eew! Pure Disgust.

I'm really surprised by all of the negative reviews of Johnny's. We have been there twice, the seating was always fast, the wait staff always friendly and the food always good (although I do agree that their coffee could use improvement.) The prices are usually reasonable; and our seven month old baby was welcome. We will continue to eat there; but if the service changes, I'll update my review.

  • Chef C.

Well, I bit the bullet and went to eat here. The following is the result. Time from door to hostess stand to being seated...47 seconds...excellent. Hostess was very friendly and polite...A. My server was Debbie who was very cheery and friendly. The old manager, Jose, is not there any more and the new manager is Robert whom I spoke to and was pleased with the conversation so maybe there will be a change for the better. He said he would stop by to check how everything was going but found out later, he left right after we talked so apparently he wasn't interested in hearing my input...F. So, I placed my order for soup and a sampler entree to review as many items as possible. I was first served olive oil and fried garlic...never seen this before. It was a bit inedible. I asked for some aged balsamic vinegar and transformed it into a more traditional item. The balsamic was excellent as well as the unique bread. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the evening. They had no pasta e fagioli so I settled for the minestrone. Bad mistake. The vegetables were overcooked and soggy. The broth was one step above dirty dishwater...C-. I then waited almost an hour on my entree and finally had to ask the waitress why it was taking so long. Her response floored me. "oh, you actually were ordering that?" She thought, well, I don't know what she thought. There only a handful of people in the restaurant so I couldn't figure out why it was taking so long. I never thought my waitress was thinking I was kidding about ordering. Very nice and personable but this was a first. She rushed through the order and I got it within 10 minutes. My mistake was waiting for it and not leaving after the soup. The sampler included, chicken parm, spaghetti and meat sauce and lasagna. I first tried the chicken as it is one of my faves I make all the time at home.Well, since they hurried through the order due to the mistake, I cannot believe how they could have overcooked it that much unless it was pre-made and reheated. That's exactly what it tasted like. I could barely cut thought it. It was very dry...C-. The spaghetti was OK...typical in a mid level family restaurant. I prefer angel hair but it was standard. The meat sauce was fairly good...B. The final item was the lasagna. It wouldn't have been so bad if I had been able to cut it but the 1/4 inch slab of cheese on top of it prevented that. I wound up just removing it altogether and once I did the lasagna was easily accessed and turned out to be rather good. They claim it's 12 layer although it seemed a few layers short, but still very tasty...A-. So, all in all, an average meal...what you could expect for a family restaurant, but not good enough for an REAL Italian ristorante. This is a place you could bring your family to and the kids would like it. Overall, I would rate it a C+.

Maybe bar hopping in palmdale isnt the smartest idea, but unfortunately there isnt anywhere else to go.... I came here with my sisters and cousins... ordered a few shots and vodka tonics and was still able to make rent. JK. prices are cheap. Palmdale guys are douchy. what else is new.

  • Leslie P.

Oh Palmdale.... it's just filled with chain restaurants. I came here to celebrate my good friend's birthday. It was happy hour and 14 of us grabbed a large table next to the bar. We munched on peanuts and placed our order. I had the margherita pizza and two bellinis. The bellinis are good, but have too many, it'll be too sweet. The pizza was fine, nothing too special about it. They gave my friend free dessert of a brownie and ice cream for her birthday. yay! With a $206 grand total... it's pretty cheap HH specials M-F 4 - 7pm: $4 regular sized bellinis, Italian margarita, draft beers $5 large bellinis, Italian margarita, draft beers 1/2 off pizzas daily specials (Tuesday was $1 Italian tacos, $2 fish tacos) plus others that I forgot

Went to dinner last night and what a wreck! Unorganized, food mishap server couldn't get our order correct! Let's not forget that it took us 8 minutes to give our drink order as there was no sense of urgency our concerns for the waiting patrons. Food lasagna was cold and ribs were mediocre! After complaining about our meal we told our waiter that we would be leaving and not paying for such terrible food and service. Our waiter could careless. We went to Famous Daves instead and as usual famous Dave's was great!

Went here last night on the advice of someone to try the 25 cent wings in the bar. I was expecting small wings.... but i was surprised. For the price you CANT complain. I just wish they had more flavors. Only thing is you cant order any for take out at this price. No problem, easy to get around. just order alot, and what you dont finish they will give you a container to take your left overs home. Im am going to go back and try some foor next time and just drive by Olive Garden and go straight to Carinos. The service was pretty good too. They did charge me for the Ranch dressing as well. But no biggie. Cant beat the price.

Ok so I'm a sucker for happy hour! And Johnny Carinos has the best thus far in the Antelope Valley, and who knows possibly anywhere else. That alone earns it 4 stars. It fell short of the 5th star due to it's constant crummy service. Also don't let it's outward appearance fool you, the bar has been redone(tons of flat screens) and renamed Johnnies, it's has sports bar feel. Happy Hour Breakdown: $2 bottled beers all day everyday $ 3 house wine, draft beer Half off all pizzas Appetizers discounted a few bucks. *everyday there's a deal on certain appetizer i.e Saturday $2 Italian nachos. Warning with appetizers! They are not big enough to share! Cheap pricing so if you love it order two in advanced. Service! It's terrible: 1. It's takes awhile to get your drink/food even when bar is dead 2. They let your dishes pile up. 3. They stand around a lot 4. They're boyfriends/friends hang out in the bar so they forget about you. On a side note I was a server for, four years I'm very critical of service. If you love cheap drinks and food stop by Johnnies (bar name) but be warned of service!

I wish I could give this place more stars for their Spicy Chicken and Shrimp dish alone... but my past couple of experiences with service have swayed me away from returning. About a month ago my husband and I ordered To-Go and while waiting in the To-Go food area (separate entrance on side of restaurant) we noticed that it was a mess. We only stayed long enough to get our food and left. Low and behold our order was switched (I only checked the Top tray which was correct) so we had to drive back to get the correct order. Second visit was for happy hour. Mind you we entered 45 minutes before closing and were told that last call for alcohol was called. No biggie since we were only there for food items. First of all I personally bussed my own table in the bar area since the cocktail server was busy at another table. But after letting us know that alcohol happy hour was over, she never came back to get our drink order or food order. The bus boy came by to save the day as he saw us staring at the server. We saw/heard him tell the server that we have not been helped yet. The server then threw her hands up like she refused to serve us. We then talked to the manager who informed us that they stopped cooking food, and they were closed. We argued that we had entered the restaurant 45 minutes before and never got service but that didn't seem to be a big deal. I don't think I'll spend my money here again.

The three star rating is based on the service provided by our server. I did not catch her name, but I will remember the poor service we received. We felt like we were burdening her by stopping by to have dinner at Carinos. When she was at our table, her body language spoke of how little she wanted to be there to help us. Also, she was very slow at times in delivering food or drinks. When asked about an appetizer, an appetizer served also as an entree, she did describe the appetizer, and automatically wrote on her pad my order. I was a bit miffed as I clearly asked for a description, but did not order the appetizer; and had to clear the order. It was almost like she was miffed to be waiting on our table. When she did a arrive with extra drinks, or the extra bread we requested, she was most helpful in placing the food on the table. Both my husband, and I, have worked in commercial kitchens and have great empathy for hard working kitchen employees. We both know how hard it is to make a living in the restaurant business. We also know and understand good service. Something we felt like we did not receive during our July 12, 2013, visit to Carinos. Food: The food was superb. Hubby had the Skilletini which was a spicy pasta and Italian sausage dish. He loved the entree and said he would order it again. I had the Chicken Milano and loved every bite. I would most definitely order the Chicken Milano in a heartbeat. This is the third time we've eaten at Carinos and the service has been iffy on all three counts. The food has always been excellent. Recommend if you don't mind poor service and good food.

the bar itself is OK my server Julianne was awesome.she was always smiling and right on top of refilling my drinks, very pleasant a blast to have as a server. i will go back because of her and will ask for her every time. last time in there my server was awful Theresa. no smiles, had a scowl came off rude and bitchy, hardly came to my table i cant believe they have her there.she really gives the place a bad reputation. good thing Julianne was there to make the place worth going to again. thank you Julianne

My boyfriend and I decided to eat here one night. The wait for a hostess is always long here. Finally we got seated and when I got my food, there was a hair in it! I sent it back to be remade and the manager comes out. He explains that it wasn't a hair but it was a peice of scrubber they use to clean their cooking equipment. No apology or compensation was offered. My boyfriend saw I was really hungry so we were sharing his food. After 20 minutes of waiting, my food was done. I decided I no longer wanted it because I had already eaten by this point and I didn't want to spend all that money to just take it home. I took my boyfriends leftovers home. When I was going to eat it the following day, guess what? I found another peice of that scrubber there! I called to get my bfs money back but he lives out of town and didn't have the reciept. They offered my gift cards to go back and give them a second chance. Not really wanting to eat the food again, I told them I would take free drinks. My boyfriend and I went back and ordered drinks. They told us that the gift cards could not be used for drinks and we had to pay for them. It is too bad that this location is so focused on getting the extra dollar that they are not taking care of their customers. I have told all my friends and family not to go to this location. If you want Italian, go to Olive Garden!

Came here for my birthday with my boyfriend hoping that it was as good as people say it is. Man was I sadly disappointed. Service was really slow and the food was not that great. I was expecting it to be somewhat authentic but menu did not have much selections to begin with. After we ordered, our food comes and then we are ignored for a LONG time. My boyfriend orders me a chocolate cake with ice cream and even that takes FOREVER...idk, what a disappointment.

the food is worse than olive garden. the service SUUUUUUcks. I literally walked out in front of the manager with out paying. Of course he stopped me right before I exited and I told him i had been trying to pay for the past half hour and was done waiting. The two stars are for the garlic they give you with the bread. if it weren't for that, this place would be out of business.

Food is not that great but good HH specials. Good beer selection at a good price. Customer service was ok. Attracts a bad crowd on weekend nights.

My wife and I went for dinner on New Years Eve. The food and the service was great. It has gotten much better the last few times we have been there. It was a bit wacky there for a time, but I think they are back on track.

It's a dive, but it's as cool as it gets in Palmdale. Our bartender was on point, and the food at Carino's is usually pretty decent.

  • Christina J.

Recently started promoting their bar with really, I mean really, cheap drinks. Night of drinks for four girls, $25! Food was average, nothing special. Service was horrible because they didn't have some staff show up for their shifts. Go for the bar!

Cheap Cheap Cheap Beer (over 200 imports & domestics for $2) & Cheap Appetizers. The only problem with this place is the service sucks! Couple of us frequent this place often and from what I see and hear, this place gets "dined & dashed" on quite frequently because it takes forever for the server to come to take & deliver your order, bring you the tab and come back to pickup your payment.. I've seen customer's first hand get frustrated and just leave without paying because of this.. Bottom line.. Expect to be here for a while if you visit... Order two drinks for yourself when the server eventually comes to take your order. .

I used to hate this place: over priced and low quality. However, they've revamped everything and it's much improved! Happy hour deals are great, but avoid the "Italian Margaritas" unless you are in the mood to drink a glass of iced honey (seriously... It's uber-sweet). They have a great list of on-tap beers that are reasonably priced.

We were very underwhelmed by the food at Carino's Palmdale. I got the pepperoni macaroni, which was basically shells & cheese with some pepperoni slices. I was hoping to be wowed by it... instead I found myself thinking, "I could make this at home just as easily for better quality." My husband got the cheese tortellini with their spicy marinara sauce. The marinara was incredibly subpar; I've had better from a jar. If you're an Italian restaurant, you should at least have a decent, if not incredible, marinara. My husband said his first thoughts upon tasting his meal were "airplane food." The salads were great (I got the house, he got the ceasar) and they give you warm bread when you order.... so that was all good. But the entrees were really unimpressive. If they'd been half the price, they would have been worth the cost. But not at $9-14/entree. By the way, they do have a nutritional menu upon request. I recommend checking it out as there were some surprises (most chicken dishes were over 1,000 calories and had crazy amounts of fat).

  • Patti K.

I was craving chicken parmigiana and the kid wanted spaghetti. Since we were going near the mall, I lost my mind and went here at lunchtime on a Sunday. The place was nearly empty. When we walked in, no one was at the hostess stand. After waiting about 4-5 minutes, a worker came in the front door. After a minute the hostess showed up. The one server on duty when we arrived had her wrist in a brace and was unable to grind pepper or cheese, so the hostess had those duties. The food was just okay. There is much better Italian food to be had elsewhere in the AV. Service was about what everyone else describes.

Carino's is a restaurant and a bar. I have honestly never been to the restaurant, but have been to the bar part many times, which is slowly taking over the restaurant. Thus, this review is about the bar. The main thing this place has going for it is price. Its very cheap, especially for beer ($2-$4). The price of food and beer is the only reason it got 2 stars, as opposed to 1 or zero. Service here is terrible, I mean super bad. Probably due to always being packed. You might be waiting a very long time before you will see your waitress again. My tip is to order another beer as soon as you initial one comes out. It is also small and very loud. Though the bar is slowly taking over the entire place, what is set for the bar right now is cramp. On a weekend night its going to be standing room only! On the plus side, the food is actually pretty good and with pizzas half off all the time its cheap. I would only recommend this place if your trying to get a cheap eat and drink, but don't have high expectations for service or ambiance and expect a full house.

This Carino's has gone downhill recently, and I assume it's due to poor management. Bathrooms are in horrible shape - soap containers missing lids and out of soap, no paper towels, graffiti on the mirrors, toilet paper all over the floor, etc. Service has been bad my last 3 visits. Food quality is hit or miss. I am sad because I actually really like the Carino's chain. I have a feeling that this place will go out of business if they don't get better management soon. Olive garden is right down the road, and the quality of service and atmosphere are much better for the same price.

Service is ok at best. I hate places that do not let you finish your appetizer before bringing you your meal. This has happened twice so I guess it is there way of doing things. Food is ok, kind of expensive for what you get.

johnny's BAR: Let me start by saying..WHY 3 stars..to be honest they could have 4..maybe even 5! Alas, no only 3 stars and now let me explain why ... First of all their drink specials are their everyday prices: $2.00 small and $3.00 tall beers! Thats right folks a good cheap place for beer and TONS of variety!!! over 200 beers to choose from although half the time they are out of this beer or that beer as far as bottles go. Happy hour food: They have something different every day but their pizzas are always half off. Dont bother with the fries however unless your getting it as a side to a dish which makes it $1.00. The fries are very McDonald's like and while it says Parmesan they are lacking in that yummy salty cheesy taste. The wings are good and their pizzas are good for the price! So far the best thing i have had are the Mozzerella sticks! They come with a bunch on a plate and they are SUPER yummy and big!! Now the down side.. :( The service is beyond bad, its horrendous, its an insult to servers everywhere! One should never have to ask for a glass of water twice after waiting 20 minutes after having asked the first time. We received our bottled beers sans(without) glass and when we asked for a glass not only did we get the eye roll (oh yea thats right the eye roll, sorry we inconvenienced you and asked for a glass) but it took about 20 minutes before the glass ever came. If you already took 20 minutes to get our beers to us why take 20 more to get our glasses? Now I wont say all the servers were this way but the times I have been I have had the same server and have received the same service both time..EVEN though the first time I tipped her well assuming maybe she was having a bad day. The last time I went the bus boy was more attentive then our waitress and to be honest its not like he was there a whole lot but he did keep our table free of dishes thankfully. SO yes the sevice was so bad it knocked them down 1-2 stars. There are Giant screen TVS everywhere so if you want to watch a game of sorts and have some cheap beer and drinks..this is the place..but you have been forewarned of the service. Maybe order two drinks at a time if you notice your waiteress is slow otherwise its going ot be a LONG night :p.

Carnios is yummy for HAPPY HOUR. Cheap and decent. The Italian margaritas are yummy, and I dont like alcohol. So thats how good they are. Their main resturant I dont really suggest, last time I ate their was years ago and it was crappy. This was my first time in years and we ate at the bar for happy hour, the waiter was super nice, and the food was good and cheap. Maybe Carinos stepped up their game.

    (4)
  • Michael M.

My wife and I love going here for drinks and appetizers or pizza. If we sit at the bar we can eat for around $15 which is awesome! I loooove their margaritas (both the drink and the pizza), and the parmesan shoestring fries are just what they sound like. gotta love cheese!

  • Darlene S.

I haven't been back to this place since it was remodeled and I was wondering what the hype was about. According to yelpers, this has the best happy hour in the AV... well... it was a hit. but of course there are negatives, cons, the calling out. i didn't understand the peanuts, but i thought it made it look a bit rustic. We sat on stools which after a while hurt my back due to no back rest. The appetizer portions were small and not enough to go around so it was more tasting than anything. But the best thing on the table was the veggie pizza, i would definitely go back for that. not to mention, the deadly toasted french bread with an olive oil, rosemary, and roasted garlic dip. U def can't beat the great prices on drinks, no wonder when i scanned the room, every seat was taken.. it was fun, probably would go back..

@HANIKA I totally agree with the waiting time and the "ridic eyeroll" The first time I went there it was good had an older man for our waiter and he totally took care of my boyfriend and I...the girls there seem to always be lost thetes usualky no hostess

WOW, the eggplant parm is FANTASTIC. Wednesdays they have half price pizzas and bottles of wine in the bar. Service is not top notch but hey you won't leave hungry.

Always leave this location feeling satisfied. Not much selection as far as draft beers go, but they get points for having Newcastle.

  • Peter W.

Crappy service, mediocre food from restaurant that is clearly operating on the low side of a budget. The coffee was watered down, and had no flavor. Servers reluctant to provide the usually free bread. Every time we asked, it was " in the oven"; but after it was delivered, it was cold. Very few customers in the place on a Saturday night, but the servers never checked on us. Meal was overpriced and drinks were way too expensive. I shall not return! I wish Yelp had a negative rating, they don't so I can only give one star. I predict this restaurant will be out of business soon!

    (1)
  • Daniel L.

Best happy hour in the AV, by far. No other compares. And to complement the happy hour is their delicious BBQ boneless wings. I order at least twenty when I'm there. So good. The downside to this place is the service. The food and drinks are so good yet the people that get that all to you blow so much. I can understand how busy it gets, but there's a solution to that: GET MORE HELP! HIRE PEOPLE THAT NEED JOBS! The better the service, the better this place will get. But until then, this place is A-OK.

    (3)
  • Danielle C.

Sad to hear this place is closed! Now we'll have to go to Olive Garden to get Italian :( I really liked their eggplant Parmesan and the free bread in the beginning. I think it was sort of inevitable that it was going to close because every time I would go, it would be completely empty. Hope they re-open someday.

Went into the bar for a quick bite. Service was horrible. We had to ask someone to take our order. Food took forever. Server never asked if everything was okay. Never checked in on us to make sure tons were okay. Ordered Chicken jalapeño ravioli which was good. Also ordered lasagna. It was okay but small portion. Asked server for check and that took forever. We could've walked out and i don't think she would've noticed

Our waiter Miguel was very accommodating and ran a couple special requests quite happily, so we appreciated that. We were having a late lunch, so there weren't many customers and he was the only one on the floor (so we don't blame him for the service speed because he was obviously doing his best, and of course it depends on the kitchen output). The bread was okay, nothing special, but it was served hot ... although I had to ask for butter in lieu of the olive oil. The soup was a hit with both of us, a "4", and we just wished it had been hotter; but $3 for an unlimited amount is more than a good price!!! Mr. Picky's combo could have been hotter, so he asked for some extra hot marinara sauce which fixed that as the original plate was delivered with a small side (i.e., TINY) of sauce for the spaghetti, embarrassingly insufficient for the amount of pasta. We tried the stuffed mush, not an inspired dish, but then went on to order the Parmesan fried shrimp which was juicy and not overcooked. The extra marinara Mr. Picky received also went onto my lasagna because all the sauce had soaked in and it needed a little more moisture. His was a "3" he said, he liked their meat sauce, not a bad experience. Of course, my lasagna was hot coming out of oven, the seasoning on it was really nice and I quite liked it. (I liked that they used tiny carrot cubes, some experts saying carrots are the secret to a good Italian "gravy".) Frankly, this was a better experience than what the reviews had led me to believe was possible.

    (3)
  • Alma P.

My husband and I tried this place for the sake of "trying new things" needles to say we made a huge mistake. The stuffed mushrooms are fantastic! My husband ordered the salmon which was fantastic! I ordered he balsamic glazed chicken with angle hair pasta which came out Burnt and was even still serves to me. How terrible! No told the waitress and she offered a replacement but I wasn't going to wait another 30 minutes for some more burnt chicken. So I asked for Alfredo with chicken to go. My husband had already eaten my daughter was cranky. I was done. The Alfredo was dry. It. They were out of lasagna people around us got 50% off their whole meal for them not having lasagna but we got no discount for being served burnt chicken. Terrible experience.

This place is now closed. Out of business which is no surprise. Once they opened up the whole restaurant to a bar down the toilet it went. They forced Rafael and Brandy out and brought in a shitty manger. Did I say shitty? That's putting it mildly. It was bound to happen. Just another case of mismanagement.

  • Ashley P.

This apparently is the "spot" to drink in the AV whether you're 21 or 75 and I could see that's due to their great happy hour drinks and food prices. This place tends to get pretty busy after 8 so come early if you and your party want a table. The waitresses and bartenders are pretty great, they're very attentive and the drinks are strong.. and I just love their vast beer selection! You can't beat a bottle of Old Rasputin for 2.50, that's cheaper than a pack you can get at BevMo. However, if you're not at the bar & dining at the restaurant-side I could see how you could get annoyed of the loud drinking that's happening.. probably not a great place to eat if you want a nice dinner and something intimate.

    (4)
  • Angelina C.

This is probably the worst service I have ever received in any restaurant in my life hands down. Watered down drinks, line @ the bar that doesn't move, bad food, and the bartenders pretend u are not there; probably because they are about to serve you a watered down shot in a soda glass. Just horrible,I will never go back!

    - Bellini ? Who what ? Awesome ! - Came in for the first time on a Thursday $5 large Bellini $.35 for wings! Can definitely do some damage here without it damaging your wallet! P.s. A Bellini is a frozen swirl type drink that seems so big until you're don

  • Kim C.

If I could give NO stars I would... But here it goes, I went to Johnnys for wings and a good time with family and friends and ended up with horrible service a dog sitting right across from me and and management acted as if this dog was a service animal which it clearly wasn't ... The customers took pictures of the dog eating at the dinner table and walking around the bar... All I could say is WoW never again... If you guys like cold wings bad service and dogs eating with his owner next to you at a bar Johnnys sure is the place to be!!!

It was pretty busy when I decided to go in and order an appetizer after a long shift at work with some of my coworkers and my boyfriend. It was a busy night and the server told us she had never worked the bar before. We could tell. Service was slow and she honestly had no idea what we were ordering when we ordered our drinks. It took about 20 minutes for us to get our drinks. Like I said, it was pretty busy and I'm pretty patient. Besides, I was only going to have a Martini and some mozzarella sticks. Well the chocolate martini I ordered looked like it had curdled milk in it. I sent it back and asked for an angry orchard. My mozzarella sticks were fantastic. My boyfriend ordered a small Newcastle on draft. NEVER ORDER IT. He got so sick after drinking it. He is not the only one. My coworker also had a Newcastle on draft and was throwing up a few hours later! Maybe they need to clean the lines or something but it's NOT okay that both my boyfriend and coworker had their heads in the toilet, vomiting, after that. Besides that, the server forgot to put our pizza order in and dropped off the checks. She forgot to take the chocolate martini off which I literally took two sips from. After asking her to remove it, she kindly accommodated, though. The establishment seems fairly unsanitary. If I ever come here again (highly unlikely), I'm only going to be ordering my drinks in bottle form.

Haven't been to this location in 2 years and the place has definitely gotten worse. It wasn't too bad before keeping up with other chain restaurants like Olive Garden, but this location is more of a sports bar in the restaurants entirety. The service is terrible, we sat in the bar area and only had 1 waitress for 10 tables and a busy evening. There were 2 bartenders but only 1 working while the other young short her blond blond chatted with bar regulars discussing her talents of alcohol consumption ignoring a customer requesting service at their table. I've eaten at the other sister restaurants like Macaroni Grill and their food and service was great. This location is terrible with poor management. Come to this location for the happy hour drinks, but not for the service or quality of food prep. Our food was semi warm and the pizza was doughey not fully cooked. Order 4 things of the menu and barely ate half of each dish. Our waitress was great and did her best to keep up.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. The warm bread dipped in olive oil and garlic is a great way to start. My favorite dish is the lemon rosemary chicken. Always prepared fresh. My husband loves the jalapeno tilapia. It's very flavorful. The lasagna is is a large portion for the money. We always have good service.

Saturday night - To go order, called in order. Was given a 20min. completion time, arrived 15min. later. All To Go parking spaces were full, had to park across the street. Not one person in To Go area (I guess no one is checking the To Go customer parking) While waiting for the order, a guy from the kitchen with a bin of there "most tasty" rolls was dumping them in a warmer drawer, one fell on the floor. You guessed it - he picked it up and put it in the drawer and to make it worse one of the female staff was standing next to him just looked at him and said nothing. I understand things are tough all over and profit is profit, but management needs to let their staff know when food hits the floor it needs to be trashed. Also don't stack hot food on top of the salad....

  • Amy B.

We've been here probably a dozen times over the past year, and we've had a great experience every time. We much prefer the food over Olive Garden. Hubby is picky and only ever gets the chicken parmigiana and subs the spaghetti for fettuccine alfredo, which is excellent. I try something new almost every time, and out of a dozen entrées, I've only been underwhelmed once (the Turkey/Bacon Panini). The bread is delicious and always warm and fresh. I love their Italian nachos, and so happy they have 3 different sizes, because a small is just perfect when I'm the only one eating it. Some of my favorite dishes are: Jalapeno Garlic Tilapia, Italian Pot Roast, 16 Layer Lasagna, Skilletini, and Italian Sausage Sliders. And I was in heaven with their Caprese Salad (which is tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, yum yum!) We've never had a wait, we've never had a problem with the wait staff, and unlike some places with high turnover, we continue to get the same servers again and again. If your idea of a great Italian restaurant is Olive Garden (like we used to think), give this place a chance.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
