The Maria Special was SUPER GOOD! This was the perfect meal with a great bottle of wine for a picnic! I would recommend this pizza place to anyone that is looking for great Italian Food in the East Bay! Way to Go PICCOLO!!

Piccolo Napoli is a casual type of restaurant, one with a bar and the game on with plenty of beers on tap. And I'm ok with that. The pizza was admittedly doughy, but it was still great. Bonus points to the staff, who gave us recommendations and had real personality.

In town on business and happened on this great restraint. Eating a Genoa sandwich as I write this. Very clean and friendly. The sandwich is very good and tasty and well presented. I will definitely be back and highly recommend you try it out.

There's no better place for a pizza and a bottle of wine than this local favorite. Each time I go I have a better experience, and now i can tell that the place has caught on with regulars. Try their specials, pizza (like the Fig compote) or pasta (like baked Ziti-sagna) or homemade dessert (panne cotta with a tiramisu crust), there's always a culinary surpirse. Ask for the brussells sprouts, but have the chef make them "Caesar style." You won't be diappointed! They have a new adult Root Beer Float, a hard root beer served with vanilla gelato that hits all the right notes. You can get a buzz and have dessert at the same time. Doesn't that sound perfect? Thanks for another delicious meal, I'll see you again very soon! Ciao!

Ok, I'm updating my review back up. As promised to the owner I will try again. Tonight I had the calzone and it was amazing. Nice work. The food is excellent. I only do take out so I have never experienced the table service.

After opening the door, I was greeted happily by the staff. I had pasta Alfredo, cheese pizza & house salad. All delicious. Tender pasta, perfect amount of garlic in the Alfredo sauce, great balance of cream & cheese. My husband loved his simple cheese pie, cooked perfect, great cheese to sauce ratio. We will be back soon!!

Actually, I'd give this 2.5 stars. I don't want to give it two and I don't want to give it three. I think going from "meh-I've experienced better" to "A-OK" is a very large interval. This is the third time we've ordered pizza from Piccolo Napoli and had it delivered. I gather it was a very busy night. The young man who answered the phone interrupted our conversation three times to talk to/direct the activities of other workers...without acknowledging the interruptions. I thought there was an anomaly on the menu. The way I read it, a combo pizza of cheese, pepperoni and tomatoes was less expensive that a cheese plus one-topping pizza. I hadn't accounted for each of the combos first showing the price of a gluten-free pizza. I wanted the best deal. Evidently I was being too insistent. The "phone waiter" told me I was being aggressive and he was going to transfer me to his manager. I don't think I was being too aggressive. I think I was trying to get what I wanted AND when he paid attention to me long enough rather than talking to other workers, I finally understood how I'd misread the menu. When I told the manager that i didn't really appreciate the dressing down from the first guy, he said "that's why I'm talking to you now. Can I help you?" (I'm paraphrasing but I'm close...what was clear is that the manager already had an attitude about me and thought I was wrong even to mention my dissatisfaction with the first rep). I ordered three different pizzas. A gluten free cheese, a regular cheese and Maria's. I don't like Italian sausage so I asked for it to be subbed with pepperoni on Maria's. The manager read back the order to me because he wanted to be sure it was right. Great idea. He accurately told me the pizza would be delivered in 45-60 minutes...they were very busy and I understand that. My sub was because I don't like sausage on pizza. The first time I ordered this nearly a year ago I subbed out the sausage for chicken. The next time I subbed it out for pepperoni, as I did this time. We got the regular and gluten-free cheese pizza as ordered (and a note: not every place has GF pizza crust, so I really appreciate that PN does). Unfortunately, Maria's Special was delivered with both sausage and pepperoni. I'm not typically sure what to do when something like this happens: It's unreasonable to expect it to be re-delivered...but I still want to communicate that what I ordered isn't what I received. Since I'd already been described as "aggressive" I didn't want to call and say that what I ordered...and what was read back to me to ensure correctness...is not what was delivered. I picked the sausage off. That only half solves the problem. I swear, the grease from the sausage renders and is sopped up by the dough. This affects the flavor. In addition: As another reviewer mentioned, I did think the dough was not at all crisp toward the center. It's a very well topped pizza. There's no scrimping on the toppings...but maybe there was too much pesto, making the dough at the center soggy. Another note: though I've always read that there are caramelized onions on the pizza, I didn't really take notice until tonight. The onions on the pizza were great. I don't know how they caramelized them, but to me it tasted like there was some wine along with oil/butter/sugar and salt. I am envisioning those onions as a base for an onion soup right now. So, my experience is that I was put off by the attitude of the guy who first answered the phone. Busy-ness is not an excuse for impoliteness in any environment...but especially in a service industry. I was being clear and direct, not aggressive. And I don't think it's appropriate in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM for our conversation to be interrupted to speak to others and then not acknowledge and apologize for it happening. I'm just guessing, but the attitude and demeanor of the young man sounded like what one might hear from an owner's son rather than just an employee. There was no concern with reprisals for impoliteness. The more I think about it, the more I'm sure I was being less "aggressive" (which was just his euphemism for me being a D***) than I was being direct. Yes, I was wrong in my interpretation of the menu, but maybe it could have been cleared up early and easily if he weren't so busy telling other people what to do. I felt like hanging up but didn't. Then I didn't get what I ordered. I'm not sure what the future holds for me and Piccolo Napoli. I suspect they'll be just as happy if I don't call them again...and I may be as well.

Love this place! Great pizza and some of my favorite servers in the world! My buddies and I like the sausage and mushroom pizza the most, but I haven't really had a bad one yet. Try it out.

I had the biggest craving for a margarita pizza so I checked this place out because of its reviews. The comments on the cute staff members and authentic food is what caught me and oh boy were they right! I was greeted the second I walked in and not a minute later by a lovely girl named Aja who happened to help me the rest of my time there! She was amazing! Always attentive, refilling my drinks, answering my questions, the works! And not to mention the pizza... My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The cheese was so creamy, basil oh so fresh. Can't wait to go back and try more amazing dishes from this little family owed gem!

Just called and asked a simple question about whether the meatballs was all beef and the lady that answered the phone gave me serious attitude and said for me to read it on the menu which is online. I told her that I am online and it doesn't say, and the attitude continued saying that it's in the starters section. I explained to her that I was in the pasta section and it's listed in extra proteins with no description and with attitude she told me that I'm suppose to look in the appetizer section under what ever it's called in Italian. How am I suppose to know what meatballs is called in Italian? Plus I'm not interested in Aps, I'm interested in Pasta and Pizza. I then had to think for a second, am I in New York? This type of attitude is common there. The millisecond it took me to realize that I'm in Orinda was the amount of time it took me to hit END on my phone. Note to owner, I hope that wasn't you. If that was an employee, better management required. She did mention she was alone, which isn't an excuse to give me attitude. I just asked if the meatballs were all beef for Chrisake! Bottomline, they just lost a valuable customer and received a 1 star on Yelp.

Had the house salad and vegeterian calzone. Both tasted great! I come here a few times a month. The service is great and they really treat you like family here. Great people and great food... What more could you ask for?

The pizza and gelato were great. Good flavor with the chocolate gelato. A deep cocoa but not dark. Salted caramel gelato was also delicious and very sweet with a butterscotch low note. Tried the fettuccine Alfredo, which came in a thick parmesan sauce with a strong nutmeg sweetness. I prefer Pasta Pomodoro's papardelle Alfredo, but this one was interesting to try. We ordered the Pepperoni and tomato pizza, which is made with six cheeses, so we should have known it would mean that it would come out of the oven a bit greasy, but we liked the thin crust and topping flavors. Overall, the only improvement we would recommend is to add a little green--parsley?--to the dishes to add some color.

My husband and I came here today. We started out with Polpettine Di Carne (meatball appetizer) which was good, my husband ordered this so he enjoyed it more than I did. He also got a beer and the bartender made me a tropical drink, but it was rather small and mostly ice. I was a bit disappointed once I saw that the drink was $10!! I decided to get a beer after that. We also got a large half Pietro's, half Maria's pizza, which were both delicious.

Update- The owner was nice enough to make a comment on my review apologizing for the fact that I didn't enjoy my pizza as much as his other customers as if it was my fault the Pizza wasn't good. Yes Peter E., my Pizza was only $23 before tax and after tax and tip it was $30 so it's still a rip off. Living in the Lamorinda area, specifically Orinda/Moraga; food options are very limited. I decided to give it a try since they had decent yelp reviews. The service was great but the pizza was mediocre at best. There was too much cheese and not enough crust so the center would just fall apart when you tried to remove a slice. A pep and chicken pizza was almost 30 bucks so I'd say it was a rip off. The only thing that justifies that outrageous price is the fact that Orinda restaurants tend to be a bit pricier due to the demographics. If you want a good pizza and don't want to leave Lamorinda to get it, I would recommend Pennini's if you like a classic crust, or even Lamorinda pizza if you want a thin crust pizza.

We recently moved to Orinda and have made it our mission to try out all the restaurants in Theater Square. We recently had some guests over for dinner and decided to order take out from Piccolo Napoli. Picoclo Napoli is always busy whenever we are in the Theater Square area, so we thought we'd give it a try. Among the four of us, we decided to order a couple of pizzas - we ordered the Vegetariano and the Amante Dela Carne. The pizzas were pretty good. A little too expensive, though, for pizza. We will definitely have to try dining at the restaurant and sampling other items on the menu - the pasta and the gelato!

I heard from a friend that it was a great place to get a good pizza. Well, it was more than that. First, the pizza: a thin crust pizza like in Naples. I chose the "Maria special pizza", named after one of the owner. It was unbelievable, light and very tasty. It had just enough sausages ( sometimes there is too much of it) on it, goat cheese, grilled onions and marinated peppers. OMG I couldn't stop eating it . With that I ordered a Caesar salad, crisp Romaine and a great dressing. The chef gave me a taste of the pasta he was thinking of putting on his menu and asked me what I thought: The pasta was cooked al dente. He had 3 differents sauces of rme to taste, the traditional marinara, and 2 pesto sauces, one made with Basil and the other one with Arugula. It was very hard to tell which one I liked better, they were all great. I finished the meal with a perfect cappuccino. They have a full bar, juice for the kids, a big flat screen TV so you can follow your favorite sports. With the Basketball and the Female Soccer Cup, I am pretty sure there will be a great atmosphere at Piccolo Napoli . It is a great place for the whole family. Can't wait to return!

I no longer need to schlep into Northbeach to get good New York style pie! I've been here a couple times because it's close to me and it has fills a hole in my soul that his been there since I moved from Boston 7 years ago. This is not Pizzeria Regina reincarnated on the West Coast but the cheese pizza here is the right combination of crispy, chewy, greasy that it allows me to make believe for a moment that I'm back in the North End of Boston having a slice of pie. Then I realize the weather is nicer here and my East Coast nostalgia can slip away. Well done Piccolo Napoli. Note, If this place is crowded, they are SLOW. But if you can wait, this is good pizza.

My wife and I stopped by before the movies because we heard good things about this place. We we're both very impressed. We started off with the Meatballs. They were tasty and with the tomato sauce and added parmagano cheese a bit hit with us. Next we split the Caprese salad . The tomatoes were tasty and the burrata cheese very rich and melted in your mouth. The balsamic reduction gave it a sweet taste. We then split the Scampi pasta. It was very rich, creamy and garlicky, just the way we like it. The owner came out and visited with us and thanked us for stopping in. Nice touch. We were also treated to the great guitar playing that was right outside on the square. Glad we stopped by and would come back for the pizza next time. Looked great.

This is a great joint for an evening of wine, pizza and people watching. My grandkids love it and we do too. You can build a pizza any way you want, and there's a number of standard options as well. They have salads, pasta, and calzone. All are good Peter is always adding something interesting to the menu. The Brussels sprouts salad was really a treat. The new full bar is a welcome addition. We are looking forward to visiting many times in the future.

Stopped by today to get a pizza to go. Wonderful waitress poured me a lovely house wine and kept me company while I waited. The pizza was wonderful Naples style pizza. Thank you! I'll be back for more and to try everything else on the menu.

This place has amazing italian food. My gf took me here to celebrate my acceptance to UCB. -Wait time for table was quick. -Service is kind of slow but the food is well worth the wait. -Try the meatballs. Pretty delicious with toasted garlic bread. -Must Try the Eggplant Parmigiana. Absolutely satisfying and schmackin. -Really Enjoyed the 23 inch thin crust Prosciutto and basil pizza. It's on their regular menu. -Beverages are good. Beers, Colas, etc. -Hazelnut and Sea Salted Caramel Gelato is a great way to end a filling meal. -Leftovers were warmed on low in oven 6 minutes and brought me back to my heavenly dinner celebration date :) -Parking is plentiful in the garage, street parking can be difficult to find on the weekends. -Was surrounded by a lot of children as it was a loud atmosphere and is probably not good for a first date. -Suggest take out if they are really busy - call ahead.

Piccolo Napoli has 12ish tables in a very small space. tables outside in the commons also menu: pizza, pasta, gelato eats: slice 6 cheese pizza with soda(5) -chewy, doughy crust similar to flatbread -cheese not so prominent, mozzarella for sure, and some orange one, cheddar? -just an average pizza crumbs: -fab smiling service by younger associate -some gal is very lucky.......

I really enjoyed this place. I did a yelp search for places in Orinda and this one caught our eye because of the check in special. The service was excellent and the food was very good. My sis and I shared a pizza, my mom had the Cobb Salad and my dad has a pasta dish with meat sauce. The check in special was a scoop of free gelato and boy was that some good gelato! If I am in Orinda and want a casual spot to maybe catch a game, have a glass of wine, eat and chat with the friend staff I would go back.

Ate dinner here last night with my girlfriend while we waited for a free showing of Hitchcock's To Catch A Thief playing at Orinda Theatre. We chose it from the handful of restaurants nearby and were very pleased! Outdoor seating was nice with the heaters, plus it was a lotttt quieter than indoors -- people were saying we were the only smart ones for eating outside. Not much they can do about large families with kids, though! We got a medium Maria ' s pizza (goat cheese, sausage, grilled onions) and a Tuscan salad (raisins, pears, walnuts). VERY YUMMY. plus we checked in with yelp and enjoyed a free spumoni Gelato :P. Our waitress, which I think I overheard her saying she was Lisa Napoli (the owner?) was very casual but professional, funny and kind. This placed opened in 2013 and I'm sure it'll be around for a while!

I was really hoping to like this place, and found it to be okay. We tried the Spaghetti di Carne. It was really bland. We also tried the pizza with pepperoni and tomato. I liked the pizza far better than the pasta; it was good, but not great. The leftovers are still in the freezer, but I'm not sure I will ever eat them. The salad was large and again, okay. The service was excellent though. I might try this restaurant again if I am hungry and in Orinda, but with the great pizza places in Lafayette, I will likely go to Lafayette for pizza.

When Bonfire Pizza closed, I was pretty disappointed. The food there was great and served with a smile. The weekend of the big local swim meet, we decided to come here directly from the pool. My kids are exhausted and we had to do dinner out so they can go home and sleep! So we come to Piccolo Napoli without calling in advance. We walk up to the restaurant and see that they are packed to the gills! The owner, Peter, asks us if we called to hold a table. Crestfallen, we say no, that wasn't us. He asks us to wait and not too much later, a group leaves and we get their table. Peter did joke with us to be patient since they're so busy. We placed an order (salad, large pizza and pasta) and asked that the food come out whenever it's ready. Kids are hungry and we're not feeling picky about the sequence of food. Arugula Caprese came out first. It had perfectly ripe and sweet tomatoes with fresh mozzarella. It was delish! Pesto with pasta (can't remember shape!) was next. The kids devoured it. I couldn't get a bite but judging from the clean bowl, the kids loved it. We got the extra large meat pizza. This is what my 8 year old son wanted and I should have known better because I wouldn't have picked that. Nonetheless, it was really good on crispy yet soft crust. The cheese is top quality and was surprised that we had some slices to bring home. Wish we had not eaten so much. We were too full to order gelato. Service is excellent and food is top notch. I'm so happy that we have a great pizza/pasta restaurant in Theater Square!!

First time back here since it changed name (previously Bonfire) and ownership (and menu). Ordered a pizzetta (small snack size pizza) and a small meat spaghetti. At $15.00 for small portions I expect above average food. The wait staff couldn't understand my order (or didn't know the menu well enough,so the spaghetti was cooked too light on the sauce. I took everything to go so didn't notice it till later. The worst error was the pizza which was severely burnt on the bottom! I was the only person there at the time.

I just had what may be the best pizza ever! My son and daughter have been raving about the pizza for several months, and I finally had the chance to try it. We ordered what we now call the "Baker Pizza" -prosciutto, pineapple & goat cheese. I love all kinds of pizza, but I have to say this was better than any pizza I have tried anywhere (including Italy). I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's completely true. I didn't try any of the other food, but 5 stars all the way to the pizza. I can't wait to go back!

This spot is great. A recently opened little gem in the Theater Square. Service was good and fast. Customizing our pizza was no problem. The bread they started us with was toasted in a panini grill and was incredible. So ask for bread she you get there. The decor was a little drab, some local art on the walls and a TV on sports at the bar. So perhaps an accent wall would help? All in all a sweet spot, especially of you've got a movie afterward.

I just don't know how this place gets good ratings. Third time and zero service. No one helps you at the door. No one helps you at the bar. You wait for your food forever at the table. At times there isn't a single person behind the bar or waiting tables. I've been 4 times and had food just once. I left the other three times.

I am a long time resident in Orinda and this place is my absolute favorite pizza in town. It's the perfect mix of thin crust and toppings. Great friendly service and a comfy outdoor area on a nice day.

I don't know why Orinda can't get restaurants right. I really, really want these local places to succeed. It helps our community and social atmosphere in the town. This is another very mediocre or worse restaurant in Theater Sq. Some lowlights - tomatoes in caprese salad - rock hard, unripe and flavorless. Meatballs - tasted like they were previously frozen, also rock hard. Pizza - layer of grease on top, mediocre crust. Service - asked for everything to be brought together, but still appetizers and salads came out first. Both my wife and I were immediately unwell after the meal and into the next day. Please improve.

Very nice quite place for a weekend brunch. My friend and I decided to choose this place since it wasn't as crowded as many other lunch spots in the area. The lady-owner greeted us with a big smile and offered a table outside, which was perfect as we enjoyed that moderately warm August morning. We sat by the front door, and the nice lady brought us menus and inquired about drink preferences. As we both already have had tea coolers from neighborhood Starbucks, we asked about coffee options they had at Napoli. The lady informed they had cappuccino and several kinds of lattes, and my friend and I both went with cappuccino. It arrived rather quickly, and oh that foam was delicious! I always eat mine with a spoon before I move to the liquid part, and that was enjoyable. We both had a lot of fun with those drinks, and the lady told us she's been doing it for 10 years. Great job! Then, we ordered appetizers/small dishes before the main course, and the wait also wasn't long. My friend went with a Spinach caprese salad (delightful, as she commented), and I chose the Tuscan sausage soup. The soup was tasty, yet a little oily on top. I tried to avoid the oil, and the broth was quite flavorful. For the entree, we decided to share an eggplant parmigiana, since a single portion was quite large. The lady-owner advised it comes with two veggie cutlets and plenty of sauce and cheese, and we thought it would be nice to actually help each other with it. The dish was very well prepared. The eggplant was perfectly cooked, not dry or bland at all, with all the natural and cheese juices included. There was a mild marinara sauce used to balance out the sweetness, and it was not acidic, as at many other places. The dish was perfectly baked and looked very yummy as well. Why 4 and 5 stars then, you may ask? The place did not have customer's bathroom and my friend had to walk to the Theater Square communal one. She was ok with that as we weren't that far, but it still seemed a bit strange for a restaurant that serves food and drinks not to have its own bathroom. They offered to use their bar sink for hand washing, yet it's not exactly the full package, if you know what I mean.

I went there for lunch a couple of times and fell in love with their sandwiches! Sorrento is my absolute favorite! Their pizza is also really good! THEIR GELATO IS AMAZING try hazelnut or salted caramel. They are kid friendly and very accommodating. They have a good wine selection as well. Last but not the least, really friendly staff! John is a sweetheart :)

Tried this place out a couple months ago and it was awesome. I've eaten at this place at least once every two weeks. The meat calzone is to die for. The sauce that comes with is a perfect compliment. The meatball sandwich is also a good one to try. That didn't dissapoint. Everything comes in huge portions so be prepared to share. I would recommend this place as I have to everyone. The only down side is that the calzone takes 20 mins to prepare but I've called it in and had no problems getting it by the time I walked in. Other than that this place is amazing.

The pizza was 4 star, decent pizza but our waitress was absolutely amazing! She was such a great person to be around. I'm going back just because of her! Excited about the thin crust pizza! Immediately after my review I heard from the owner of the restaurant. It turned out that he had not received my email and my review led him to discover that his Internet Service Provider had inadvertently misrouted form submissions from their website. The owner, Peter, was quick to respond and suggested we give the pizza delivery another try but this time he suggested we order it partially-baked, then we can finish cooking at home in just a few minutes. He was right. He sent us a pizza and it was delicious, just like we're used to getting in the restaurant. Now we are not only customers in the restaurant but can also enjoy his delicious pizza delivered.

This place is great! Small location that puts out very high quality pizza, sandwiches and appetizers. Try the meatballs! Pesto pizza is killer but I always add Sausage for some extra kick. The decor is just ok with too bright overhead canned lights. Too many tables jammed together as well. Wine and beer list is very pedestrian as well. I would recommend for take out.

Great food and service! We will definitely go back! My husband ordered a traditional pepperoni pizza which he said was delicious and I had a gluten free veggie pizza which was amazing - I really was surprised how good it was. Pizzas were a perfect one person serving. The crust on all the pizzas was not too thick or doughy and the owners completely nailed it on the sauce - perfect! We also shared a generously portioned salad. The dressing really stood out and the greens tasted very fresh. Our youngest daughter got the fettuccine which, again, was a generous portion and was also delicious. Our oldest daughter loved the bread sticks the most along with the freshly made gelato - salty caramel....insane!! Oh, great wine list - the house chardonnay was really good. It's obvious this restaurant is family owned - you can see it and feel it in their efforts and accommodations.

Not happy to be the first one to leave a negative review, even more so because it is a new business, but I have to be honest... the food here is not all that great. Maybe I'm just a bit more disappointed because I drove a ways to Orinda just to try this place out. We ordered the ceasar salad, as well as the prosciutto pizza and vegetarian pizza. The ceasar salad was just your typical ceasar salad, nothing special. The croutons were stale, so that was a bummer. Our watiress did, however, bring out the salad divided onto two separate plates when she heard we would be sharing, so that was nice. We asked for mushrooms and fresh spinach to be added to our vegetarian pizza. The spinach came out sauteed... I also am curious as to what kind of cheese they use for the vegetarian pizza as it does not say in the menu description. I naturally thought it would be mozzarella, but I'm going to take a guess and say it was a type of cheddar blend(?) as it was orange in color and tasted /smelled more like a cheddar. Regardless, I'm not a fan of orange cheese on my pizza, so that was another bummer. The vegetables also had no distinct taste. The prosciutto pizza with pear and gorgonzola was something I was hoping to like as I love all three of those ingredients. The gorgonzola, however, was overkill and completely overpowered the flavors of the pear. Because so much of it was used, the pizza ended up being way too salty for me personally. On a more positive note, our server, Asia, was super friendly and had a bright personality. Despite our disappointment in the food, it was a pleasure to have her as our waitress.

Best pizza I've had in years! We had the one with Niman ranch pork and mushrooms. The salad was also well put together, and the spinach was fresh. Service was prompt; seems like a family run establishment. Will be back again. Glad to have discovered this place.

Piccolo gets 5 stars because they have yummy pizza, great location, decent prices & great service! Our server jessie was amazing! She was very down to earth and detailed description of every question we had. Best waitress ever! We ordered the all meat pizza and a cesar salad. *****Perfection! Good wine and beer list. They even make their own dill ranch! Great place to sit outside under the heat lamp and enjoy a yummy slice of ZA before a movie. Located across from republic of cake & the parking garage is a few steps away! The owner also came out when we were leaving to ask us how everything was. Still not better than pizza pazza but still good & 100x less greasy & awesome staff. Will def. be returning hopefully when jessie is working ;)

I love this restaurant the eggplant is excellent. Their daily soup especially the spicy Italian sausage. The Tuscan salad is wonderful. The waitress Jessica is a delight. Order the beetle red wine loaded with Zinfandel is a good value. Wednesday $3 wines!! Come support this family owned restaurant in Orinda.

This is hands down the best pizza I have ever had. Also, the service was unrivaled. Just when I thought my dining experience couldn't get any better, the gelato arrived. Salted Carmel. Never have I left a restaurant with my vibes so high.

Fantastic! I took my very picky 85 year old Italian mother, my wife and two of my children for a Sunday night dinner. Warm olives. Bruschetta, calzone, eggplant Parmesan, meatballs, spaghetti, pesto, the best Caesar salad I have ever had. All were top shelf. Great house red, wonderful family service, starched napkins. No need to go to SF North Beach.

Delicious thin crust pizza and excellent service. My second visit, and I will return to try the pasta.

One of the few places with reliable delivery in Orinda. The food is above average overall. The only reason it's not five stars is that they refuse to serve bread with an order of $15 pasta

I've been hoping for Really GOOD food in theatre square and was pleasantly surprised by Piccolo Napoli. Very friendly waitress, pizza reminiscent of super thin, crunchy Italian and NY style pizzas, tasty salads and a mellow ambiance. We've picked up pizzas to go which is a great option, too! One of my new favorites in Orinda!

I have frequented this establishment three times, so I feel like I have a pretty good sample size. Visit number one: pizza served so late that I had to take it to go to make my movie at the Orinda Theater. Visit number two: I ordered takeout, and the pizza was over done and dry. Visit number three: I arrived at 5:20 pm. There were four other people in the restaurant. Naively, I believed there would be no issue finishing the meal by 6:00 so that I could see a movie scheduled to begin then. WRONG. The pizza never came out. At 5:55, I gave up and paid for the soups we had eaten. Then the owner had the temerity to suggest no fault rested with the restaurant because "it takes 20 minutes to make a pizza." (35 minutes had passed). I was flabbergasted. He should have comped me and apologized. This place is not going to make it treating customers like that. Heck, Bonfire had no issues getting their delicious pizzas out and they could not make it. Caveat emptor.

This is the best pizza in the area. It's a little pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. Delicious, delicious thin crust with great toppings. Who can say no to homemade pesto and to goat cheese? Everything is fresh. This is food great. Definitely not a greasy, gut bomb. Salads are priced reasonably too.

Wow. We ordered 3 pizzas, they said 40 minutes. My husband went down in 40 minutes, they said it would be another 30! AND did they apologize or offer to make it right? Not. Their pizza isn't awesome to begin with, just convenient to our house. Well, no more. Patxis here we come.

We also were disappointed when Bonfire closed, but we've been quite pleased with the service and quality of pizza at Piccolo Napoli.

Piccolo Napoli has a nice variety of really good pizzas paired with great service. This is our "go to" pizza restaurant in Orinda. We particularly enjoy the Margherita and Sausage and Mushroom pizzas. Now we're hoping for delivery.

What a great find in theatre square. We just went there for dinner tonight and everything was perfect. The crust on the pizza is excellent - very thin and crispy. The arugula salad was also good - just the right amount of dressing. We also shared the bruschetta appetizer. It was different than any bruschetta that I've had but it was very tasty. It's made with a thin flatbread. My son had the pesto penne dish. It was good but a little too much pesto for me but he likes it that way. We will definitely come back to the place. It's nice to see Theatre Square alive again.

I've eaten here a couple times now, mainly takeout, and the pizza is top notch (can't comment on any other types of food). True, they have some less than traditional cheese blends on some of their pizzas, and it may not be "Emilia's good", but would definitely put them in my top 5 east bay pizza joints. Last night, there was a mix up regarding the timing of my order for take out, so they graciously offered to remake my pizza. When I got to the store, I ended up doing eat in, and the staff continued to be super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Piccolo Napoli

LOVE THIS PLACE! I've been family friends with the owners and their kids since I was a kid and they are all wonderful people! The thin crust pizza is absolutely amazing (especially the Pesto one) and I loved the Caesar Salad-I have a LOT of Caesar Salad and let me tell you it was delicious!! I'm coming back with my mom and brother to show them the awesomeness of this place! Keep up the amazing work! :)

Left the office without lunch in order to beat the BART strike traffic. Made it across the bridge and thru the tunnel without too much trouble. Decided to grab a quick late lunch by trying Piccolo Napoli which I read about in Diablo magazine. Was not a fan of its predecessor, Bonfire, but decided to see how the new owners are changing things. Sat at the bar, ordered the house salad and pesto bread. Great dressing on the salad and the small tomatoes were terrific compliments. Only negative was the salad came with the cucumbers I wanted held. The pesto bread was the big delicious surprise for me. I can only say Yum Yum, and looking forward to going back and trying a pizza which uses the same crust as the pesto bread. Very excited to try again, will bring the family, and especially looking forward to ordering a pitcher of beer! Very friendly staff too!

This is the 2nd or 3rd pizza place (tough to keep track with all the turnover at Theatre Square) at this location and they are pretty close to getting it all right. The pizza is solid, thin crust, nice combo of crunchy and chewy, and comes out pipeing hot to the table. Current favorite is the mushroom sausage. The servers are very friendly and responsive and they've had the same crew for at least the last year plus. Very nice indoor/outdoor arrangement, so you can either watch the game or chat with locals as they walk between Barbacco and Table 24. The salads have gotten better, but could still use some improvement both with the ingredients and the creativity. Pizza Moda on University in Berkeley is the model for pre-pizza salads, a variety of fresh greens, out of the box ingredients and combinations (ex: Kale Caesar), and not too big. Bottom line, there's finally some consistency at this spot and they seem to improve on something each time I go. Theatre Square is not cheap rent, so yes, the pizza will be more expensive then Mountain Mikes. Will continue to take the family here on Friday nights.

I heard about this place from a friend and decided to check it out, so three of us went there for lunch. We got there about 1 PM and the since the weather was great we sat outside. We started with a pitcher of beer for the three of us and our waitress, Ariel, informed us that the special that day was eggplant parmigiana which I ordered. One companion also had the eggplant and the other companion ordered a pasta dish, Well, what can I say, the eggplant was the greatest I've ever eaten. The eggplant itself was breaded and baked just right, the cheese was abundant and of high quality, and the sauce was to die for. The portion was so generous that I took some home. My friends also raved about their order's. We all tried the gelato for dessert and it was delicious. I had the lemon gelato that was superb. I highly recommend Piccolo Napoli.

Not only were the pizzas beautiful BUT the taste was fantastic AND the service was super friendly and helpful!! What a welcome addition to the Orinda Theater Square. We are making Piccolo Napoli our family regular weekly stop! Can't wait to try some of the other items on their menu.

Saturday night in Orinda and we arrive with our two girls as the second party in the entire restaurant. Perfect! We are quickly seated and exchange pleasantries with the waitress all the while I'm gushing to her over the fact that Bonfire Pizza's replacement has come to put back that which should not gone away. Hooray! Uh, not so fast. I mean that literally as well... Hoards of other folks soon arrive and the place is quickly packed. Lucky we got in there first! Our waitress comes back to our table with our beers (Stella Artois and Sierra Nevada on draft) and lemonades for the girls and she takes our order- Caesar salad, pizza Margherita, and plain pasta for the kids. The salad soon arrives and it's just okay except the croutons were a little old. Anyway it's a pizza place, right? An hour goes by, and the girls fidget go to the rest room, and fidget some more as we watch people come and go with phone order pizza boxes. An hour and twenty minutes goes by and we are just getting up to leave as our pizza arrives along with an apology from the waitress for the very long wait. Reluctantly my stomach convinces my brain to sit back down. Stupid stomach. The owner comes over and apologizes too, and even buys me another beer, which was a nice gesture, but my spider sense was already tingling... At first glance, the pizza looks nothing like the bubbled, charred crust, white dots of mozzarella, shredded basil, and crushed tomato pommadoro sauce that was Margherita pizza at Bonfire. Charred crust? Yep, but even before the first bite I could tell it was a whole new pizza experience. Did I mention I was starving? The dough was charred along the edges, which I normally like, but it was also crisp, airless, and crunchy like a cracker. The velvety white mozzarella was gone, replaced with a greasier version mix of mozzarella and other cheeses. Shoot! What happened? My kids hungrily reach past their pasta for their own slices like extras from World War Z, but after a bite, drop them, and quickly retreat to their noodles. I managed to eat most of two slices except the crusts ( and I love crusts), which, in retrospect, was probably just my brain trying to somehow get even with my stomach. Disappointed, still hungry, we quickly paid the bill ($66 w/o tip) and headed to Moraga to get Tangelo's for the kids...and a slice of pizza for me from Lamorinda Pizza next door. Not too bad. I guess this story does have a happy ending...

I applaud the staff at Piccolo Napoli pizza from last Saturday. I was there among the crowds watching the waiters handle the dinner rush. There will always be some folks who don't understand that sometimes really good restaurants get slammed. You are there because the food is worth waiting for, so getting angry at the staff doesn't make the food come out faster. This place hands down has the best meatballs & sausage pizza I've ever tasted in the east bay. I have eaten at Piccalo several times now and they are always honest about how long it will take. Bravo you guys on consistently putting out excellent quality pizza!! Don't let the haters get you down.

Had dinner there for the first time tonight, loved the pizza. It had a nice thin crust, good sauce and not too much, fresh ingredients, it was yummy. We also had meat balls, very good! We had 3 different salads and enjoyed all of them. They make a lot of the ingredients fresh daily. The chef came out and told us how she makes the ricotta cheese fresh each day, the salad dressings, the pasta sauce, etc. it was all good and we enjoyed everything. The waitress was great. Attentive but not intrusive, she made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We will be sure to go back soon and often. It's a real find for casual dining in Orinda.

Mama Mia! Tasty fresh local ingredients and welcoming service = authentic thin-crust pizza that reminded us of the great pizza of Naples. Nice selection of salads and appetizers (family recipe for meatballs is yum) Liked the option to design your own pizza with 3 choices of sauce (tomato, pesto and white) delicious gluten-free crust that isn't doughy. Our new favorite pizzeria, will definitely be returning. Last but not least, our waiter, Alex, was right on top of everything we needed before we even asked. Great experience all around!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
