Ordered the lunch plate at the very end of the lunch service. Had the pork belly which seemed dry and the sauce concentrated as if it had been sitting warmed for too long. The hot and sour soup was indelible tasting like only vinegar and spice. And speaking of spice, they don't skimp so that was good! The fried rice was excellent and fresh. Overall the flavors were great so I will def give them another try during more productive food moving hours.

This may be the best Asian fusion restaurant in the area. Some interesting dishes ie the tripe & flank & twice cooked pork belly. Pork pot stickers are house made & above average. Good attention to details by by the back of the house. The food in general is well crafted & worth a stop in.

Found this place by the Yelp reviews and wow! I am so glad we decided to try this place out. Atmosphere: Clean and quiet. I enjoy the facts that they have TV's though, that is a bit different for a Chinese Restaurant so we could watch football and eat Chinese food. That was fun! Service: The ladies are very attentive but do not bother you all night. Our drinks were refilled several times before we even really needed it and the food came out in a timely manner. Price: Really good for the amount of food you get. We always order too much but the leftovers are just as amazing the next day! Quality & Taste: The flavor of the food is wonderful. The spicy dishes are spicy but not overdone and the sauces are finger-lickin' good! Recommendation: Definitely come check this place out if you are a looking for affordable Chinese food with great quality.

Was not impressed. The chicken fried rice tasted just like peas; it was not good. The fried prawns were not what I was expecting from a Chinese restaurant.

With the popularity of Sichuan style Chinese food made famous by San Francisco's own Mission Chinese food, I decided to yelp "Sichuan" in sacramento and to my surprise there is such a place. Keep in mind Sichuan style of food is much more spicy. Love it but you have to plan for it. This place looks like your typical hole in the wall Chinese food. They offer your typical run of the mill offerings any American can expect from a Chinese joint but they also offer a wide range of Sichuan style dishes, clearly stated in their menus. Big plus, because that's all I wanted to try. Bring Tums and leave with a experience for your mouth.

Found this place here on Yelp when looking for Chinese restaurants in that area for lunch. I saw the rating and so I decided this would be lunch. I've been there 2 times so far and both times I've eaten the same dish. The restaurant is not too big but there are more than a few tables to comfortably sit and enjoy your food. I ordered what I normally order at a Chinese restaurant, sweet and sour chicken. This came with soup and rice. Great portion, in fact I had some left over. The soup was spicy but not so much as to make it unbearable for me to eat. I'm not much into spicy food but a little is OK. The chicken was very good and the rice was OK. The service was nice. Very attentive but not overboard. I'm glad this place came up in my search otherwise I probably would have overlooked it since its existence in the little shopping center isn't that obvious.

Poor, rude, impolite service. They don't do half orders. So if you want any item off the menu to go, they only fill up the largest styrofoam container with one item. Unbelievable. If you question this practice they get loud and disrespectful. Weird. Never coming back.

    * Customer Service: Non-existent. To go orders take priority over people at tables * Menu: Inflexible, only two combination plates available * Atmosphere: Fair, new furniture * Price: High for what you get. * Drinks: No wine. Recommendation: With so many great Chinese restaurants in the Sacramento Valley, you would be foolish to waste your time and money with this restaurant.

They get an extra star simply for opening a Sichuanese restaurant in the unlikeliest neighbourhood. While I was waiting for my food to go I saw the poor patient hostess explain to a caller that no - they don't have teriyaki chicken (what next - sushi?). There were multiple orders of broccoli and beef and mongolian beef and I didn't see a single patron order anything remotely Sichuanese that afternoon. So yes, to keep a Sichuanese menu and actually produce a pretty decent rendition of Sichuanse water boiled fish is great. Too bad my tastes are so spoilt from having lived in LA and sampling some great Sichuanese food there - this was good, but just not good enough for me.

Ordered a lunch special to go. Generals chicken with chow mein. Plenty of food for two or two meals. Very fast for pick up and affordable. Staff is friendly. Inside of the restaurant needs some art work. A little on the basic side. Will order again soon.

Rating is based on one visit and order consisted of wonton soup and deep fried prawns. Won ton soup was bland and nothing out of the ordinary, Prawns were more like shrimp and 3/4 batter....very disappointing. I did not experience bad service like others claim but it was not busy. A very disappointing dinner. I'll go back and try some other items to see what the fuss is about.

Came in for lunch. The food was bland and has been sitting in my stomach for hours since then uncomfortably. The service was slow, my water glass sat empty for over half my meal. I would not return, Panda Express is better.

My husband and I have ordered take out from here once. The cream cheese wontons were delish! But the orange chicken, chow mein, and pot stickers were just Ok, pretty bland.

This place is fantastic. Tough to find quality Chinese, but this one has been consistently great. Flavorful but not too greasy like some can be. Service is always friendly and prompt. It should be noted I've only ordered take-out, so I am not certain of dine-in service.

If you are used to the usual bland America nixed Chinese food, be prepared for a pleasant surprise. This food has flavor! I highly recommend them.

So I have had this place book marked for quite some time and we finally made it out to Orangevale to check out the hype. We were greeted by a young waitress who we instantly recognized as being a former waitress at CK Cheng's in Natomas. Sichuan serves lunch specials during the weekend and they run about $6.95. We tried two lunch specials and took two more home for our kids. The star of the show was the Boiled fish lunch special. I know it sounds freaking weird but it was crazy good! Served with your choice of chow mein, fried rice or white rice, egg roll and soup. The boiled fish came in a large soup bowl filled with hot spicy broth, large amounts of tender but firm white fish and nappa cabbage. I could order this dish everyday of the week and at $7.95 I could afford too! Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings 8 large wings for $6.95 tasty but nothing special. Spicy Chicken Plate lunch plate, smallish pieces of battered deep fried chicken with a tasty spicy sauce. $6.95 I would order this again. The fried rice is better than the chow mein, although both had good flavor. Sweet and Sour Chicken lunch plate, large pieces of battered and deep fried chicken in a tangy and not to sweet sauce. Pretty good but not quite perfect $6.95 Broccoli Beef lunch plate, a good portion of tender broccoli and beef in a oyster sauce. Very good if you like your broccoli cooked until slightly soft like we do. $6.95 This little place is putting out great portions of tasty food at a reasonably low price. We can't wait to come back and try some more of their delicious menu.

The mrs wanted Adalberto's for dinner but I wasn't feeling Mexican. I have had this place bookmarked for awhile and now was my chance. The Sichuan style Kung Pao chicken was filling. The spice level was moderate. The chicken was of decent quality. The prior reviews had me expecting a lot more.

Found this on Yelp, looking for a quick Chinese take out after a busy day. Staff was very friendly and food was fresh and good. My kids devoured everything on their plates and went back for 2nds on the chicken and broccoli and house fried rice. I would recommend and I will be back.

We got quite a few things and they tasted ok not the best I've ever had. It was really expensive for the quality we got. Most likely won't be going back to this place.

This place is right around the block from my boyfriend's place, so it was only natural for us to give it a shot after reading that it had pretty positive reviews on Yelp. The restaurant is basic, but who cares? The place looks clean, smells great, and the service is kind. After walking in, we were greeted right away and invited to look at a menu. We ordered a few things to go and waited maybe ten minutes- super fast! For two people, we only paid $26! We ordered pot stickers, chicken chow mein, and sesame chicken. The to-go bag smelled SO GOOD and was piping hot, even when we got home. Everything tasted delicious, especially the sesame chicken! It was crispy and covered in just enough sauce- not too sticky or too battered. Silver Dragon should take some notes... The pot stickers were pretty solid, too. Not bad, pretty basic. Same for chow mein, too. We're definitely going back when we get another craving for Chinese food!

Just happen to be in the Orangevale area and starving for lunch. Break out Yelp and find what you're craving. My Gf and I were craving Chinese and this spot was first to pop up. I remembered the name from previous Yelp searches and I was intrigued by the get go. I've never really had Sichuan style Chinese food and here was my chance. It was a major plus finding out that they have lunch combinations on the weekends. If you dont know about Sichuan style, it is known for the SPICE. Its in all caps for a reason. If you like spicy of all spicy foods, this is a place to try. First came the Hot and sour soup. This is no common Hot and Sour and I've tried at least 20 different variations. When I'm sick, Hot and Sour Soup is my go to remedy and now I found the perfect place to find it. It left a lasting taste in my mouth after the first spoon full. The heat last much longer after the bowl is finished. And i couldn't get enough. I wanted another bowl full. It was that good, I remember the soup more than my actual meal and that is saying something. Don't get me wrong, my meal was also very delicious. I went with the Fried Fish filets with roasted garlic sauce and fried rice. The GF went with Kung pao chicken with fried rice as well. I was so surprised by whole crispy the fish was even after being covered in the roasted garlic sauce, which was just as amazing. Something about the fried rice, I can't put my finger on it, but it was so delicious as well. This didn't taste like any other fried rice I've had, and Im still confused just thinking about. My GF has the same feeling after a couple bites. This is not a bad thing at all. Its not that it tasted funny or off, it was just different than any other fried rice I've had and I'm Asian, I have fried rice at least every other week lol. As like most Chinese lunch combos, its so much you'll end up taking some home. Definitely a place I would recommend if youre in the area. There are plenty more items on the menu that I am very interested in trying, especially the more Sichuan style dishes. At the time, I was craving fish so it was an easy decision and dont regret it one bite. Oh and did I mention the Hot and Sour soup was worth getting by itself!

First time trying and I am pleased! I was looking for a delivery and this place does but with a minimum of $75! I ordered for pick up. Took me a few times to get through but within 30 min my order was ready. I am very satisfied with the portions they give you! My family had ordered the Honey Walnut chicken, sesame chicken, chicken fried rice and vegetable chow mein and all of them were awesome! So much flavor and cooked perfectly! Can't wait for another take out night :)

It would've been nice if the menu had said the wantons and the hot and sour soup contain pork. We needed to request rice as an extra side dish. Usually rice is supposed to be included in entry. The small serving of hot and sour soup was humongous and took a long time to cool down. However, Mongolian lamb dish was not bad.

Pretty authentic Szechuan restaurant, especially unexpected given the location. came here based on previous Yelp reviews. Pretty much right on the money. We ordered Ma Po Tofu, which is a great test of how accurate the recipe is for a Szechuan place. They used lots of hot oil and pickled radishes to flavor the tofu, excellent taste. Tofu was nice and silky, could've been a bit less salty since they used the pickled radishes, they could've skipped additional salt altogether. Also got beef stew noodle soup..excellent flavor as well, meat was nice and melt-in-your-mouth tender. Would've been even better if they topped it off with some pickled mustard greens. The restaurant itself was nice and clean, and the service was great. I'm going to be skipping most of the other chinese restaurants in the area now that I've found this new place!

So before I hit this place up, I had to go online and find out a little more about Sichuan, a small place out in China. Beautiful city but what caught my eye were the dishes. They are known for their spicy cuisine. What I saw, I wanted to give a try. Now, these dishes are not Cantonese, Szechuan, Mandarin and so forth, this is Sichuan cuisine. i went with my very very good young best friend Joel. He as well as myself really didn't had much to eat throughout the day as we were looking forward to eating here. The first thing we had was the beef tripe and flank combination for appetizer. OMG!!!! Delicious isn't the word. Joel said it was his first time trying a dish like this, cold. The first and second bite, you don't think its spicy, but then it starts to kick in. Doesn't overwhelm, balances it out perfectly. out of 4 First entree to come out was the spicy tan tan noodles. Never had these noodles before and this dish was also delicious and this plate really had a kick to it immediately, felt it on my lips, but it was a dish that you had to continue to eat. Worth getting. out of 4. The shrimp with lobster sauce was really good. Shrimp were cooked perfectly, very good size and they were not cheap with the shrimps either. out of 4. The crispy spicy chicken was a favorite. Joel compared it to orange chicken, but better. This chicken was crispy, not overly spicy, just enough for you to enjoy. The sauce was a good combo, didn't dominate the chicken. This was another worthwhile plate. out of 4 Last was the pork fried rice and this was different. This pork fried rice had sliced pork compared to the cubed pork. Nicely cooked, wasn't greasy or anything. out of 4 Basically, none of these dishes were not oily, nor greasy. I am very happy, glad i hit this place up. Its different, something you need once in a while. Glad we now have a new Chinese cuisine we can try and enjoy. I was very satisfied with this place as well Joel. The people that attended to us were very very courteous, helpful, explained the dishes to us. Before we left the guy who took our payment showed us what else we should order next time. I highly recommend this place. Its hip, its happening, its now. Go for it.

I cannot say enough about how good the food is... The Sichuan wontons are fiery, . ground pork filled little pillows of love The lamb and pickled cabbage soup was ethereal. A spicy , dark rich broth with slices of tender lamb, pickled cabbage, scallions, mushrooms and glass noodles. Probably the best Chinese soup I ever had. Then I had the Chong Qing spicy chicken, which was fried to a crispy perfection with a nice heat. The only thing that wasn't exceptional was the pork fried rice which was just very good! And washed down with a few Tsingtao.... I gotta say, It was pretty f**king awesome! That was on a to-go order that didn't get consumed for thirty minutes after pick up... I want to see what it's like to eat it fresh out of the kitchen! This is the best Chinese food that I have had in a LONG time and I can't wait to try other menu items...

A solid sit down Chinese place. 3.5 stars. I have yet to be disappointed with the food. The service is nice and prompt. The fried rice had nice clean flavors. Mushu pork was full of flavor, just wish the wrappers were a bit more fresh. Tofu with black mushrooms was sweet and savory deliciousness. Sweet and sour prawns were perfect, the sauce was just the right consistency and nicely balanced. This is quickly becoming my go to place when I'm craving Chinese.

Went for the first time last night. When I first walked in I was not that impressed the surroundings were a little drab, not dirty just not decorated. We ordered, kung poa chicken, won ton soup, pot stickers and a side of rice. I had ice tea. I was really pleasantly surprised. first of all the service was great. The gal that waited on us was really sweet and very attentive. Then the food started to come. First the soup. Wow, we ordered a large. unless you are really really hungry I suggest ordering the small, but it was really fresh with shrimp that tasted fresh and fresh mushrooms and green onions and wontons, it was really good. Then the pot stickers came. and they were really great. Just the right amount of dough vs meat and fried to perfection. Super tasty. The only thing I wished they would have served with them was vinegar I like mine with a little sour not soy, but they were still great. Next came the chicken dish which also was really fresh and tasty. It wasn;t like most chinese places where everything tastes the same. The tea was good too and it was only 1. 25. that is rare, usually they gouge you for the price for the tea, like 3 bucks or so. All in all it was a great little place for the money. Nice and fresh good service and affordable, and clean what more could you ask for. We will definetly be going back. Sorry Golden Dragon we found a better spot. Bye, bye.

This place is awesome. Service is definitely better than any Chinese restaurants I've been too. And the waiters speak English! I think it helps that this place is in a white neighborhood. Waitress was very attentive and checked on us often. We ordered the 2 person dinner for 11.95 each. Huge portions : we have hot and sour soup, 2 vegie egg rolls, vegetable stir fry, sweet n sour pork and mu shu beef and rice. This food can easily feed 4 people. Hot n sour soup was spicy but has a lot of meat, mushroom, tofu in it. So lots of substance and not just liquid like u get at other places. But I wouldn't go googoo gaga over it. Sweet n sour pork was average. It has the right flavors but more on the sour side.Would like it more if there was more meat in thefried pork. The beef was decent but wasn't spectacular. It could use a little bit more seasoning. The vegetable is actually really good. It was on par and not over cooked. Crunchy and fresh for sure. I would definitely come back to try their other stuff.

The first sign that a Sichuan restaurant is authentic is the spelling of "Sichuan." Notice that it's not spelled like Szechuan, Szechuwan, Sezhuwan, or any other variation that is screaming "I am not authentic!" We went here today, their grand opening. I didn't know what to expect, but I can tell you that I was a bit skeptical at first. In the end, we were completely blown away and I can honestly say that if you want REAL Sichuan food in Sacramento, this is pretty much as close as you can get. Being in Sacramento and all, you really can't expect a Chinese restaurant to survive solely on Sichuan cuisine. It's just not feasible, nor is it profitable; they must cater to the fans of Sweet and Sour Chicken and Mongolian Beef if they are to stay in business. Now with that being said, here is my breakdown: FOOD: Chongqing Style Spicy Chicken ($8.50)-Super delicious, must try, see picture Sichuan Style Beef Tendon ($8.50)-Really good, small portion, but c'mon it's tendon. See picture. Spicy Dan Dan noodles ($6.95)- VERY tasty but not really spicy as indicated. Not sure if the noodles are freshly made, it's with sesame paste if you're into it. ENVIRONMENT: -Clean, tidy, roomy -TV available, but it wasn't on -Plenty of parking -Quiet SERVICE -Very friendly (Better than your typical Chinese place.) -Prompt TL;DR-Go there for some good Sichuan food. It won't be like food in China, but this is pretty darn close. 20% off coupon until 1/31/13. They also have lunch specials starting $6.95.

Great food with a very sime but clean environment. The hot sour soup was incredible, one of the best I've ever had. The lunch plates are very reasonable with nice large portions. Under 8 $ including rice or chowmein and a cup of soup. The twice cooked pork belly was great. Incredible spicy and nice even heat in every bite. A beautiful bean based sauce with onions. I will definately be back to this new strip mall chinese food restaurant. . Service was prompt and very attentive. .

Everyone knows that trying to find an authentic Chinese restaurant in the Sacramento region is like fishing for a shark in a pond, searching for gold at the end of a rainbow, and any other near impossible feat that is out there. Lately I've been craving simple authentic Chinese food that doesn't necessarily need to blow my mind, but needs to at least let me feel like I'm walking into a high end Panda Express. I got really excited when I found a restaurant that dared to put Sichuan into their restaurant name exists near me. It's definitely not the definition of a hole-in-the-wall restaurant with its clean walls, spaced out tables, and good service. I picked the Taiwan style stirfry vermicelli and the Chongqing spicy chicken. Maybe it's because I've been deprived for so long up here, but I feel like I'm scrambling and grasping for anything that even has a whiff of authenticity to it. It was comforting to see a menu with Chinese characters on it. As for the food, the Taiwanese vermicelli used a thicker noodle than what is usually used. Though it was piled on with a variety of protein and cabbage the overall taste was lacking. Taiwanese food is already generally light on the salt but this barely had any taste to it. The Chongqing chicken was vaguely similar to the spicy fingerlickin' dish that is one of my absolute guilty pleasures. Instead this dish was not very spicy at all and a bit too oily. Even though I'm a harsh critic, I would definitely come back and try other dishes since in comparison this is the best I've had in Sac so far and the portions are hearty. I was able to make 3 meals out of my leftovers!

Decided to try this place out for lunch since it had pretty good reviews. I called to place an order to-go & asked for my total after that hung up. I waited about 25 minutes before going to pick up my order. I ordered the crispy Sichuan chicken, chicken chow mein, general chicken lunch plate, and the salt and pepper chicken wings. After waiting 25 minutes I showed up at the restaurant to pick up my order. The lady asked what my order was, I told her and she seemed to be confused. They didn't have my order taken down so she had to retake the whole order while trying to avoid letting me know that they had forgotten to place the order. Then her coworker walked in and she immediately tells him to make my order quickly (in Chinese) assuming that I didn't understand her. I sat down to wait and 20 minutes later still no food. I finally asked her and all she said was it was almost done. Finally I got my food 25 minutes later. Took it back home, and let's just say the chow mein had no flavor. I used all the soy sauce packets given. General chicken was ok not great. The salt and pepper wings were actually really tasty but aside from that everything else was below par. To sum this all up I will probably not be going back.

After years of looking for a decent take out Chinese food restaurant in Orangevale, I finally found it here. This place has really good food that is flavorful without being overly salty or bland like I've found at other restaurants. We usually get one of their family meals and they have never had a problem with substitutions for a dish. We have ordered on all days of the week and rarely have to wait more than 30 min to pick up our food. Dining in is also very fast asks the staff is always very friendly and efficient.

Very clean, modest, great food. Prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this place to get your Chinese grub on. The Sesame Chicken was cooked to perfection. It was not rubbery or gunked up with a lot of batter. Everything is fresh, fresh, fresh! P.S. They also have the best hot and sour soup I've ever tasted!

I've tried this restaurant a few times. Once to eat in and once to take out. Food: eggplant in garlic sauce was delicious. The eggplant had a buttery texture and the sauce wasn't too overpowering. The king pao chicken was good. The tan tan noodles were tasty and the walnut prawns were good too and perfectly fried. Some of the prawns however did not have that snap when you bite into it. Service: wait staff went above and beyond to provide me with whatever I needed to make my experience a positive one. They will customize your order to your liking. They are informative about their food. Big plus for this component. Ambiance: restaurant is clean and quiet. You could easily have a conversation with someone. Tables are not too close. The decor is simple and functional. I was greeted with a smile and felt appreciated. The only ding is that they use the Styrofoam clam containers for take out that leaked sauce all over the inside of my bag. This seems to be a labor of love for those who work here. Overall my expectations were exceeded. This is a nice little unassuming restaurant in my neighborhood and I look forward to trying many more of their dishes.

Had better Chinese food, but my quarrel is with the service. Ordered on phone and was told the wait would be 25 until it was ready. Arrived 30 minutes later and ended up waiting another 30 for my food.

Love their food and their lunch specials. Their serving sizes are plentiful. Try the salt and chicken wings. I did not care for the spicy wonton appetizer. Try the following and you will not be disappointed. Curry chicken, Mongolian beef/Chicken, kung pao chicken, Honey walnut shrimp, chowmein, fried rice. Hot and sour soup, egg drop soup. Stay away from main dishes that are coated and deep fried. Im single, and like to dine out often. I took of a star because they should offer combo meals for dinner like may other Chinese restaurants do. maybe use the same lunch menu and add a dollar or two for dinner?.

I cant fathom how anyother chinese food joint within 15min of Sichuan could survive. Excellent food prompt and curteous service. Soups that could give any Pho house a run for their money.

I saw this restaurant on Eater.com , excited to see a Sichuan restaurant in Orangevale near us in Citrus Heights. We tried the Twice Cooked Spicy Pork Belly, so good and not found in the more Americanized Chinese restaurants around us. Also the Beef Chow Fun, one of my husband's favorites, is also outstanding. The noodles are so softly chewy and the beef is so tender. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes recommended by other reviewers!

Formerly China Kitchen (we miss that place!!) this place is great because it is just right around the corner from where we live and they have great service. We always order their Dinner Style A and get plenty of food for two people. We never eat the soup because they don't offer won ton. They also don't offer chow mein in their dinners. They give you vegetables which are bomb surprisingly. We love their sweet and sour chicken (we're super picky too). Overall great place and we really hope they don't go out of business like China Kitchen!

My husband and I wanted to try something different so we decided to come try this place. I was skeptic at first but I must admit the food was light and not greasy. We got pork fried rice, asparagus chicken, and Ching Qing style spicy chicken. Even though it's a far drive for us we will come back. The customer service was great and the place was clean. Def worth a try!!

Oh my - what a wonderful restaurant, and they have only been opened for a month or so. The staff is awesome and so courteous! This is our first visit and like Tamara, we have lived in Orangevale for over 30 years and tried each Chinese restaurant in this location, by far the best. The food is "very" fresh, and everything ordered was delicious, I ordered the deep fried pawns for an appetizer and oh my! As the others have mentioned, the portions are generous, so we have lots of leftovers to eat. We will be going back, and trying other items on their menu, which is loaded of lots of dishes.

This little restaurant in Orangevale is quite surprising. We normally travel to Sacramento to get fresh Chinese food but whenever a new spot opens up in this location, we always give it a try. The menu has all the basics you would want in addition to lots of spicy options! We love the spicy dishes so went with those. The staff was super friendly and confirmed my order was accurate before I paid. The location is very clean, appropriately lit and there is a large flat screen television on in the corner. The cashier's counter is also immaculate and they use an ipad for transactions (silly to mention, but I thought it was pretty cool). I got a very easy to read receipt and my order in less than 5 minutes. Every item was extremely fresh and not swimming in sauce. Just delicious! The Sichuan Style Mongolian Chicken was spicy and fresh with onions, Thai chilies and just the right amount of sauce. The surprise, and our new favorite is the Spicy Sichuan Wontons. You receive 12 very spicy wontons and they are AMAZ-A-BALLS. Do not miss out on these! Additionally, the rice, chow mein and pot stickers were also very fresh and plentiful. You get a lot of food for the sticker price. Finally, I am very sensitive to MSG in Chinese food and although I didn't ask, there seems to be no MSG in their food, as I didn't need to take Benedryl after eating. Now, if I can only find a good Thai food place in the OV.......

I am so excited to find a local Chinese restaurant, especially offering the Sichuan cuisine, which I believe makes the best use of various spices you don't get at an "American" Chinese restaurant! I work in a very diverse area of Sacramento but live in the OV and I've tried all the Chinese restaurants in the surrounding areas to my disappointment! I even learned how to cook Chinese food just to have it taste the way I want! ..........Until now! Everything was flavorful, some spicy, some not. All full of rich sauce, meat, fresh crunchy vegetables! Kung Pao Chicken Sichuan Style: (see photo} Not too spicy but there's a kick. Tons of peanuts..tons of chicken, red chili peppers throughout large enough for you to remove them before you bite into one and mess up your whole dinner! Beef Chow Fun: (see photo) Lots of tender thin cuts of beef and fresh tasting thick flat Chow Fun noodles, with minimal slivers of onions/carrots/celery. Rich flavor, not light and 'corn-starchy.' Sichuan Style Twice Cooked Pork Belly: (see photo) My absolute favorite! Full of thin cut pork belly (so not too much fat), leeks, black beans. Super over the fried rice! Spicy Sichuan Wontons: My daughter's favorite, very spicy but definitely poppable! Wow, definitely check out this place and let's keep it open for all of us Orangevalians to enjoy for a very long time! I will definitely be back until I get to taste everything on the menu!

Imaginative menu and great prices. Lunch menu also available on weekends. I had the Clay Pot Chicken. Delish. Will be returning soon.

Been here multiple times and always have a good experience. The staff is friendly and the food is always great. They messed up an order once but they fixed it with no hassle. The food is definitely good and they are the best in the area. Prices are also fair.

Very delicious food, friendly staff, and super clean. They also have a TV which is much better than silence or Chinese music. Was my first time here today. One thing they need to improve is their dinner special, they don't have combination plates for just one person. But otherwise I am very happy with this place!

My initial visit was mostly positive. They do not offer any combo meals for one person (which was sad for me because my husband has an extremely restrictive diet and really just goes for my sake). Regardless, we stayed because I really wanted to try this place. I had the Chinese Chicken Salad (DELICIOUS) and the Sweet and Sour Pork (DELICIOUS). I was very happy. The next time I went I took my mother-in-law and we got the Sweet and Sour Pork, House Fried Rice and Curry Chicken. While the Curry Chicken was yummy, we both got really sick from it! We decided it was a fluke and went again. This time we got Cashew Chicken, Fried Rice and Won Ton Soup. While nothing was BAD, everything was VERY under seasoned and just underwhelming in general. I find myself less and less interested in going back which is a real shame since my first experience was so positive. Reviews seem to be very favorable in general so I will probably give them one more try before I call a quits.

This was my first visit to Sichuan and I must say I was impressed. Based on other reviews, I tried the Sichuan Style Twice Cooked Pork Belly and Whoa! was it good. Why I am really writing this review is because the basics were done perfect. The Chicken Chow Mein was flavorful and meaty, but not greasy and the fried rice was light and and seasoned well. Very fresh! I look forward to visiting again very soon.

I'm pretty sure this is the closest you can get to authentic Chinese (Sichuan specifically) just about anywhere in Greater Sacramento. I am ABC, having spent my first 40 years in the Bay Area. So, I've been pretty deprived of legit Chinese eats since moving to Fair Oaks over two years ago. Feel free to take the 5 stars with a grain of salt, haha... I definitely want to see them stay in business and thrive, so I'm handicapping accordingly. After several visits, I've gotten my fix every time. I can confidently say this place is the real deal, IF you know what to order. It's definitely hit and miss and all depends what you are looking for--Americanized Chinese vs. authentic Sichuan cuisine. My focus is on the latter. The first promising sign is most of the spicy dishes have real sichuan peppercorns* vs. just chili peppers or hot sauce/oil. Overall, the quality, freshness and flavors are on point. Since the place is less than a year old, it's clean and bright with friendly service--a plus all by itself. Portions are generous for the price, so be prepared for leftovers. HITS: - Plump, handmade potstickers with dipping sauce. - Spicy Wonton appetizer. I notice a few reviewers give this a thumbs down, but it is an authentic dish. The wonton sits in a bowl of orange-colored chili oil, which I can understand being a turnoff but that's the way it should be. Not as spicy as it looks/sounds but flavorful and I'd order again. - A good Ma Po Tofu can be hard to come by, often not spicy at all or too saucy. This has just the right balance of flavor and spiciness, while the tofu is velvety. I can eat the leftovers over rice for close to a week and not get tired of it. - Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup. I usually go for a spicy beef noodle soup (which I plan to try) but one day this dish was calling out to me for lunch. I wasn't disappointed and glad I got it. Again, a great balance of flavor and spice all in a rich seafood-tinged broth. Huge portion, and I had to stop myself from finishing the whole thing in one sitting. - Beef Tripe and Flank appetizer; mild spice. This was served cold as is traditional. Very tasty and a huge portion for $6.50. This is another dish I had to save and ate the leftovers for days after. I'm sure this is not good for cholesterol levels, so I'll consider it a once or twice a year treat. ;) - They have broth down, so I don't think you can miss with any of the soups. The Pickled Cabbage & Fish Fillet and the West Sichuan Style Spicy Fish Fillet Soup are really authentic, and the latter isn't as spicy as it looks (comes with a bunch of whole dried chili peppers floating on top). The only other place I've seen this soup is at China Village (near Berkeley) where it's called "Thousand Chili Pepper Fish Fillet Soup." So good... Did I say this one's authentic? MISSES: - Beef chow fun. Usually hard to mess up, but I just found it bland. Won't order again. - Agree with one of the other reviewers who said avoid anything battered and fried. Just too much batter for my taste. There are a couple fried dishes that aren't as heavily battered which are a little better, like the Chongqing Style Spicy Chicken. Tasty but still a bit oily. OK BUT NEEDS WORK: - The Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings. All good but it seems like they drizzle (chili?) oil on after the fact and not necessary. Takes them from dry and crispy to slightly soggy. - On the only visit with my parents (I was half trying to impress them), they ordered the Shredded Pork with Flavored Dry Tofu. This is authentic and one of their favorite comfort foods; you won't find everywhere. The main problem was the ingredients weren't shredded fine enough. The flavor and "wok hay" was good but the texture should be more like julienned vs. thick cut. That was the only downfall but my mom couldn't get past it LOL. - The Taiwan Style Rice Noodles are a nice gluten-free option. It's basically a combo chow mein made with thin rice noodles. Good flavor but sometimes the meat and veggies can be chopped too thick (like the aforementioned shredded pork above). Also, a friend of mine who's family is Taiwanese says the dish is traditionally finished with Chinese black vinegar. I'm sure that would make it awesome. This may seem like a lot but there's a lot more I want to sample. I'm so stoked!! * This place definitely uses the authentic sichuan peppercorns in many dishes. You can tell when your tongue feels slightly tingly. From Wikipedia: "Sichuan pepper has a unique aroma and flavour that is not hot or pungent like black, white or chili peppers. Instead, it has slight lemony overtones and creates a tingly numbness in the mouth (caused by its 3% of hydroxy alpha sanshool) that sets the stage for hot spices."

It was nice to discover this nice little Chinese place in Orangevale (and to see it doing so well, especially in this economy!). The food was good overall (except one dish, see below) and the service is excellent. I'll make sure to return the next time I'm in town! I'm a fan of the broccoli beef and princess prawns, but the twice-cooked pork belly wasn't good (mainly a sauce issue).

First time here today. Great service, food is awesome and prices are fair. I got the General Taos Chicken lunch special. The chicken is delicious, the chow mein seems really fresh (if that's the correct adjective) spring roll and hot and sour soup was awesome. Will definitely be visiting here again!

Our first time to Sichuan Spice House. We stopped by on a Saturday around 2 pm. There were only a couple of other patrons in the spotless dining room. The decor is comfortable but a little sparse. We were seated quickly and asked for our drink order. In spite of a sign proclaiming they now serve alcohol, we asked for water. We chose Family Dinner "A" that consisted of Hot and Sour soup, veggie spring roll, Mongolian Beef, Sweet and Sour pork and fresh seasonal veggies. A few minutes and the soup was served. It was served hot in a large bowl and the server ladled it into our soup bowls. We found the soup tasty, but not spicy at all. The menu shows a pepper next to the hot and sour indicating spicy but today our soup lacked any kick so I used the chili paste on the table to fix it up a bit. The spring roll was very good, served hot and crispy The menu also showed a pepper indicator next to the Mongolian beef but as with the soup, we noticed no real "spice\heat" in the food we were served. The sweet and sour pork was classic deep red color, crispy, and yummy! The fresh seasonal veggies were served hot in a light, clear, sauce. We really liked the veggies! Overall we liked the food but we expected the food listed as spicy to be noticeably spicy and it wasn't. Maybe on our next visit we will ask for extra spice/hot on the spicy dishes.

If you are familiar with San Francisco Chinatown cuisine then you will find a home here. This is the real deal, excellent food, plentiful and flavorful, the service friendly, fun, and attentive. Totally enjoyed the Pot Stickers, Chon Quing Style Spicy Prawns, and Spicy Mongolian style Chicken absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. You can take out but I really recommend eating in for a fun relaxing dinner. Can't wait to return to taste more offerings!

This time tried the General Zhangfei beef which was very spicy and flavorful. Also tried the Orange Peel Chicken which was good although not as orangy as I usually like. Both dishes were very good.

Very good Chinese food for Orangevale. We are native Bay Area residents, so we know that it can get much better. We live really close, so it will be our go to Chinese restaurant. We have young children, other than no drink options beyond water or Lemonade soda, family friendly for sure.

I have been in many times already, my girlfriends and I love this place! Chinese does not get any better! The veggie chow main and sesame chicken is the best I have EVER had! Service is always great! Keep up the great work!

This is very good food. For being in a small strip mall in the burbs, I gotta say totally worth getting out here to try it. The Sichuan food was excellent and haven't had better since I was in Chengdu. They don't dumb it down for Americans and the fact that the place was standing room waiting for tables, makes me very happy that the people in Orangevale and Fair Oaks clearly know good food! Don't be fooled by the hole in the wall location. This place has great food and very authentic! I was so happy to see the Orange beef and twice cooked pork on the menu. Then I had the Mapo Tofu and was convinced! I will be back!

Best food ever. We discovered this gem not too long after it opened and the food is always amazing; fresh and delicious. The waitstaff is so friendly and attentive even when they are very busy. The word is definitely out about this restaurant and we are happy about that!

I have now been to Sichuan Spice twice. Both times I left happy. I had the pork in garlic sauce but asked to substitute chicken for the pork. It was no problem, and it tasted excellent. Last night we ordered the orange chicken (along with other items) and again we were pleased. It is served with chili peppers like kung pao, and the spice level was spot on. The vegetable fried rice we ate was probably some of the best I have had in a while. All in all, another pleasant experience. I suspect I will return again.

We have enjoyed take out from this place twice now, and the food was scrumptious on both occasions. Even after the drive home the food was piping hot. Definitely not your "run of the mill," ordinary Chinese restaurant. We will return, delicious!

We've been to the Sichuan Spice House many times, since it is near hour house...and we are so happy to be so close to such a good Chinese restaurant! Their hot and sour soup is fantastic! We haven't tried everything on their menu yet, but everything we have tried has been yummy, yummy, yummy! The dining room is clean and the service is always prompt and friendly. Stop in for a quick lunch or a leisurely dinner...you won't be sorry you did!

Have had disappointing results in trying to find good Chinese in the Roseville/Folsom area, so this is a very pleasant surprise. The other Yelp reviews are accurate. Excellent, non-gloppy, non-corn starchy Chinese food that is loaded with flavor. The twice cooked pork belly was awesome. Teenagers wanted Mongolian Beef and this was the most tender, flavorful, Mongolian Beef I've ever had. They cut all the meat thinly and cook it perfectly with nothing being chewy. They even had hot and sour soup with thin strips of chicken with the tofu and somehow even made that tender, which is difficult in a soup. Someone in that kitchen clearly knows what they are doing and has some serious skills. Since it is Sichuan it will be spicy, but they keep it at a level that was pleasing to everyone and let you order it at different levels. Drawbacks were annoying TVs playing Entertainment Tonight and the somewhat sketchy strip mall in Orangevale that's got homeless roaming around,. I think some ethnic restaurants think Americans need to have TV blaring with dinner, but I personally hate it. Will be coming back this this place many times, but if they continue this level of quality it's going to become very popular soon.

The best I have had in the ten years I have lived in Citrus Heights is in Orangevale. example: Twice cooked Pork BELLY! Not sliced pork. But melt in your mouth pork belly. We will return. The menu is fantastic. So many new items to try.

Kind of a confusing place. There was a lot of random things on the menu which made me suspicious at first. But after ordering a bunch of stuff and staying away from non-Sichuan things I think I got the hang of it. I had to look up other places menus and compare the Chinese to reallllllyyy figure out whether some things were what I suspected (namely the jjajjangmyun and jjam pong masquerading as Chinese dishes). Anyhoot the twice cooked pork and the clay pot chicken was delicious. A little different from the usual rando Chinese fare. The main neg was that for a Sichuan place the food wasn't spicy. (It's supposed to be hella spicy).

Okay, I am seeing all of these 5 star ratings and I'm not sure why. I will have to try it out again. We came here super stoked that there was a Chinese place nearby with great ratings. We ordered Chow Mein, Honey Walnut Chicken and Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. The food was good. I wasn't a fan of the ambience...I felt like I was in a cheap diner...not a restaurant. And I wish they had individual combo dinners (not just the family style ones)....

Finally, a great Chinese restaurant in Orangevale! It is hard to find good Chinese in the Orangevale/Fair Oaks area and I've been disappointed by every one that I've tried (except Szechuan Garden on Sunset). Stopped by for lunch on Saturday and was pleasantly surprised. They had just opened earlier last week. They've cleaned up and remodeled the restaurant. It's very simple, but clean and spacious. The service was excellent! My waitress was very attentive, friendly and happy to accommodate my special requests. The owner even checked in to make sure my meal was just right. The hot and sour soup appetizer was terrific! I ordered Wor Won Ton soup as my entree, and asked them to add noodles, as well. Very tasty, fresh and a generous portion (I ordered the small bowl, but it was more than enough for one). I encourage you to give this place a try. Let's make sure this new mom and pop restaurant has our community's support!

Great Chinese place to eat in Orangevale. Unless I am mistaken, I don't recall any other Chinese restaurant around at all. Friendly service, the tables are not crowded like other Chinese restaurant you see. Very clean! The food is great. We ordered some chicken wings, won ton soup, Taiwan style rice noodle and Chang Qing spicy chicken (Pop corn chicken, only spicier and much more flavorful). Too bad my kid doesn't eat spicy food, otherwise I have heard the Sichuan Style boiled fillet was the chef's special. Well, there is always next time!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
