Best Mexican food hands down in Stanislaus County! All the staff are super sweet and amazing. Owner sometimes works and treats everyone like family. Try anything with Green Sauce and its love at first bite!

If you want authentic Mexican food, this is the place. I had the Chili Colorado, and I am so glad that I did. The sauce was thick, the meat was cooked perfectly, and the flour tortillas were homemade. Everything else was great as well. Best Mexican food in Oakdale.

Thank you thank you for your service today!!! Wow! You accomodated our party of 30+ guests in a timely and friendly manner! The chicken fajitas that I ordered were amazing and everyone loved your salsa too!! We will definitely be back!!

Other than mediocre food, the service was terrible! 10 minutes to get a menu, 15 more to order, 40 minutes until food came and don't even get me started on the wait for the check! Don't order a soda because you'll lose the fight on refills. Not impressed.

We came here on the advice of Yelp, but I don't think I can write a proper review since we didn't stay for dinner. There was a huge surprise birthday party going on in their back room which caused quite a bit of chaos and poor service for the rest of the folks in the joint. We waited almost 20 minutes just for someone to ask if we wanted a menu. They only have Gallo wine, so I ordered a coke and Hubby asked for his usual tequila drink, but that was another 15 minutes and Hubby's drink was wrong - bad even. We paid for the drinks and moved along. I hope they were just having an off night, but I don't think we'll go back again to see.

Wanted a quick but good spot on our way back to the bay area from Yosemite. Our experience didn't hit the mark on either count. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. My fish tacos were Only OK although my partner's chicken fajita's were very good. Oh, but the service was lacking. Water was brought right away and we even ordered quickly. It the took over 30 minutes after that for our food to be delivered - - and at different times to boot. During our wait we saw another group come after us, order, pay and leave before us. An hour later we were done. For a quick and good meal it is not. Not a high recommendation for me.

Great lunch...margaritas were yummy and so were the enchiladas. Atmosphere is nice and service and price were good.

Portion servings are gigantic! Friendly service and the food came out hot and quick. Great authentic mexican food just before or after Yosemite. Prices are moderate. We were party of 8, which was a reasonable turn out on the bill. Of course the salsa and chips were complementary and delicious. The (2) fish tacos I had came with rice and beans. I had sour cream on the side which was different but something I really enjoyed.

Excellent super burrito w/red sauce. Could only eat half other half will take home. My other half had a shredded beef taco & enchilada with red sauce. Both are gone. Overall, I'm a picky Mexican who rarely enjoys eating Mexican food out but after a long drive from Yosemite on a holiday weekend this we a nice surprise. Good fresh food and friends staff. Thumbs up!

The perfect stop on our way to Yosemite! The staff was super friendly and the food was great! We ordered a carne asada taco and a shrimp burrito. Both were very tasty and fresh. The fried ice cream was AMAZING!!!! It was served in a fried tostada bowl covered in cinnamon sugar. The ice cream was also covered in corn flakes and whip cream/chocolate syrup/cherry. The best $6 I've ever spent. It fed 4 of us! I would definitely go back!

Tried their food for the first time with my family. Enjoyed it very much. I recommend the fajitas!

Delicious! Warm lunch service, great atmosphere, great stop on a hot day. Chips were a mixture of flour and corn with some colored ones thrown in, the bean dip and salsa was flavorful. Ordered the carnitas, came with rice and beans. Usually only pick at my sides but cleared the plate, if I wasn't watching my portions would of got a second helping of beans. It was awesome to have carnitas with flavor and the onions - cilantro that accompanied my plate set it off. I'll be back!!!

Unfortunately, like most Mexican restaurants in Oakdale, the food is forgettable. The times we've eaten here, I've thought they could have done so much better. It's not bad food. It's not great. The prices are what you'd expect. The service was acceptable. But you come for the food, and the food isn't that good. At least, it's not good enough to make me want to come back.

Stopped here on my way back from Yosemite after reading positive reviews on Yelp claiming that this place served the best Mexican food in Oakdale. This may well be true, but that means it's pretty crappy Mexican by any other standard. Yes, the portions are huge. But they're also flavorless, making each and every morsel a ball of bland and uninspiring calories. Let it not be said that the kitchen staff at Suzey Belen have not performed a miracle: they've made their radioactive colored sauce without any flavor-generating ingredients. Yelper beware: hold your hunger and drive on.

Still sitting here after 45 minutes and still no food. People behind us came in, ordered and are already eating. Seems like they are super understaffed. Might update this post with a review if I ever get the food. 1 star for service Edit: Once I did get my food here it was absolutely delicious and extremely large. Too bad it took about 50 minutes to get my burrito. Would recommend coming here if you have plenty of time for dinner.

We are new to the area and have tried many other Mexican restaurants in Oakdale. This is by far the best. The chips & salsa w/bean dip are delicious and everything we have tried on the menu has been fresh w/large quantities. We will continue to be repeat customers.

Fast service, really nice friendly service. Food awesome. Chips, salsa, bean dip, great. You can taste the individual flavored in the burrito. Had Mexican super burrito w green sauce & quesadilla. Eat here. You will want to come back.

LEGIT! LEGIT! LEGIT! For my Leap Year review I present to you the best place I've ever had POZOLE!!!!! I hate to say this but it's even better than my Grandmother's! All I've had here is pozole and I've had it 4 times in the last few months and it's consistently the same and tasty. I really wanna try the other food here but the pozole is so damn GOOD!!!!! Very nice texture in the soup and they give big portions!!!! Don't sleep!!!!!

We stopped by while in Oakdale, CA for a wedding. While late in the morning, nearing noon, they were still happy to make a breakfast burrito for us. I am glad they did. Their breakfast burrito was the best I have had in a very long time. The service was great. Our server was cheerful and friendly. If I am in the area again we will make it a point to stop by. Its a great place to start your day. I am giving four stars for the breakfast burrito and a bonus star for the splendid service.

I am not a huge Mexican food fan. We stopped here on our way back from Yosemite. It was late and we didn't have many restaurant options that were open at that time. I am so glad we ate at this restaurant. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! They served us even after there closing time. They server was very polite and friendly. AWESOME FOOD! They served us free chips and salsa. The chips were warm fresh and crisp. I ordered vegetable burrito and It is the best burrito I ever had. It was huge and I couldn't finish it. I packed it for my next day lunch. REASONABLE PRICE! I am definitely coming here again.

Needed something convenient as I was heading towards Sonora tonight I ordered a fish taco and a shrimp burrito. The lady at the cash register was extra attentive and friendly. Such excellent customer service is rare! :) I enjoyed the salsa and bean dip, some chips were crisp while others are sandy flaky. In this area many Mexican restaurants serve flaky so I was glad some were crisper here. The taco was tasty (they always go quick when really good). Tomorrow I'll taste the shrimp burrito and update after :D I think I'm coming back when traveling through, maybe this time I'll stop in and eat

I usually write my reviews during the day at work when I have nothing better to do, but this review couldn't wait. After hiking at Yosemite, my friends and I found this place on yelp and came here to eat on the way home to the Bay Area. We seated ourselves in a booth and the waitress brought us menus. You know the Mexican restaurant is authentic when they serve you complimentary tortilla chips, salsa, and one bean dip ($2 if you want more). It was so good, I ate so much and barely had room for the main course haha. The chips were perfectly deep fried and crisp just like I like them. 3 of us got the wet Mexican super burrito and the 4th got a shrimp burrito. Mexican Super Burrito with carnitas covered in both red and green sauce: This thing was massive! It truly was a "super" burrito. It was bigger than my forearm! Not only were they not stingy with any of the ingredients, but it was so tasty. The tortilla, rice, beans, carnitas, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, and red and green sauce mixed together was an explosion of flavor in my mouth. I barely made a dent in it so I ended up taking it home for next day leftovers and it was still so delicious and filling. This restaurant lived up to their name of "Authentic". Service was great and food was amazing. If only this place was closer to home!!

  • Curtis A.

Best Mexican food ever!!!!! We stopped here for the first time and it was awesome! I got the shrimp burrito with green sauce, loaded with shrimp! And the green sauce is the best. The service was top of the line also. All around good Mexican restaurant.

Great food and customer service. We stopped here on the way back into town and so glad we did. We had one of the specials for today - chili verde/chili colorado with rice, beans and tortillas, and two iced teas - all for $26.99. Amazing deal! We're definitely coming back on our next trip to the mountains.

The sign outside makes the claim that this place serves authentic Mexican food but I don't agree. My Mexican grandmother didn't use beans from a can, rice that tasted like packing peanuts or thin, flavorless tortillas. Go for Mexican food designed for white folks. Stay for deep fried ice cream that is actually not too bad.

I am so totally glad we came here. Absolutely Delicious!!! I ordered the burrito chimichanga, and it is the best one I've ever had... My son finished his quesadilla and my husband finished his Torta.. YUMMY

What a lovely spot for good food en route to/from Yosemite! They were listed as open until 9:30 but apparently this is only for Friday and Saturday. So we arrived on Sunday night about 5 minutes after close but they still accommodated our order. We both got super burritos and were not prepared for how much food came. They were ginormous and soooooooo tasty. The pico de gallo was especially fresh. In addition to serving us after hours they were super nice. Definitely has the cozy feel of a family-owned restaurant and just a great place to stop for food. We will definitely be back on any trips through the area. Thank you Suzey for a wonderful meal.

Awesome Mexican food! Tasty carnitas. Unique chili relleno. Yummy shrimp cocktail. They offer a vegitarian selection and my vegan dad was able to make it work with no complaints. Even offer burger and onion rings for the kids. Service is friendly, but don't come here if you are in a hurry.

This is a great spot if you are on your way up to Sonora/Yosemite. Lots of good things on the menu.. I had the Pozole which was really good. I especially like the warm refried beans serve with the chips and salsa... Really only needed a beer after that...

Best food in town! Been going for years - too many favorites to list but the carnitas are among the top 3....you can't go wrong. Great food, great appetizers, ooh the margaritas...A Must!!! Excellent service...the list goes on and on!

I was craving Caldo de Pollo so I decided to try out this restaurant based on the reviews. Unfortunately, the Caldo de Pollo consists of flavorless chicken, canned peas and carrots, (the same they put in the rice) and potatos. Theres nothing authentic or tasty about that. It was truly disappointing. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because after I made a comment they decided not to charge me for the Caldo de pollo. Also, our waitress was super nice and they pack their cheese enchiladas really good.

We've been coming to this restaurant space since the '70s, when it was Romero's. It's changed hands several times since. When Suzey Belen's took over, the emphasis turned more to regional Mexican cuisine that was good but a little exotic to those who are used to the traditional mainstream version of Mexican food. They've since adopted a more mainstream menu. There don't seem to be a lot of vegans reviewing this place, but if you're vegan, make it VERY clear that you do NOT want cheese or other non-vegan ingredients in your food. Even when I've ordered without cheese, I've still gotten it and had to send it back. To their credit, the first time this happened (and it was almost closing time!), the very friendly manager herself came out and talked to us to make sure we were satisfied. For those who say the service is slow, well, sometimes it is, sometimes it's not. Sunday afternoons seem to be a slower time for service. I agree with another reviewer who liked the flour tortilla chips in addition to the corn.

This place was excellent. Driving back to San Francisco from Mammoth, by way of Yosemite, we got into Oakdale around 2:15 on a Sunday kinda famished. Unfortunately two first restaurants we tried were closed, so we popped onto Yelp to see who was good. Suzy Belen's came up highly ranked so we gave it a whirl. Firstly, high five for being open on a Sunday at 2:30. Already points for being on top of the game there when the rest of the town appeared to be on siesta. And you could see that high energy mindset reflected through the rest of the experience. The staff was outstanding. Super attentive, really nice, checking in continuously, refilling drinks and chips without being asked, etc. Guacamole was homemade and delish. My camerones al mojo de ajo (garlic shrimp) were off the hook. Massive butterflied prawns, encrusted with little crunchy garlic chunklets. Six of them. So quite a big helping given their size. My fiancée's carne asada quesadilla was similarly excellent. We'll definitely make it a point to hit this place on future trips through Oakdale to or from Mammoth.

Really good! The reviews I saw before going made me a little skeptical, but I was not disappointed at all. We were actually looking for a taquería or quick take out place so we ordered to go. They gave us chips and salsa while waiting which were fresh and obviously homemade. And that wasn't all- they gave us five bags of chips to take along with more salsa. The staff was great. Very warm and friendly. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice too. We'll for sure go back and eat in. The portions were generous and everything was fresh. We tried the asada, shrimp, chicken and chiles rellenos. All very good.

Awesome spot! Big place inside, friendly staff. I got the super taco truck burrito, and it was soo good and soo filling, I couldn't even finish the whole thing! My bf got the polle al la parrilla and he liked his but didn't say it was like amazing or anything. We would still come back again for sure!

Went to Suzey's on our way up to Yosemite because we didn't want to go to either of the two places where you have a 50/50 chance of getting sick. We arrived around 8ish to an almost empty restaurant and promptly ordered a round of cocktails (three margaritas) and then began perusing the menu. Everything looked great and we were really excited about authentic Mexican food. After ordering, we waited for our drinks, and waited. Suddenly our food arrived and still nothing but water on the table to drink. The driver, me, was about 1/3 of the way through my dinner when I flagged one of the staff and told her to cancel my drink as now I would be driving soon and didn't want to be delivered with a drink two minutes prior to walking out. This was met with some surprise that I didn't like waiting for over twenty minutes for a margarita when the restaurant was less than one third full. Immediately my drink was delivered which my dinner companions decided to help drink while they were still waiting for theirs. We were told it takes so long because they used real fruit which I guess that means they ran out to the back forty to pick first. When the drinks did come they were good and very strong (half alcohol?) but definitely not worth waiting thirty minutes to receive. The Chile Verde was excellent and my friend did like her tacos. I must say though that the 'verde' sauce on the chicken enchiladas was a bright neon color which you'll see if you check out my pictures. On a plus side it was very clean in the dining area and the bathrooms. I'd recommend getting a soda or stick with water if you have any intention of going anywhere after eating here...even if it is just home two minutes away. I think I'll go back to the standby 50/50 places and take my chances and avoid a DUI opportunity the next time I am in Oakdale.

Just as it had on the way to Yosemite, the town of Oakdale also served as our stopping point on the way home. Instead of a potty stop/ coffee break, it was hunger that got the girlfriend & I off the highway this time. A Yelp search yielded Suzey Belen's Authentic Mexican Restaurant as an eatery with potential. We drove up late in the afternoon & easily found parking right in front on the street. Walking in, the place was mostly empty. Seating & service was immediate. To start, our friendly server brought us a mixture of fresh fried flour chips & colored corn chips along with some salsa & beans/ cheese. It was all decent, but not the most spectacular chips & salsa I've ever had. After looking through their extensive menu, I ordered Milanesa Beef & the girlfriend ordered Caldo de Res. Our food was served before long & we eagerly dug in. I love chicken/ country fried steak, so the Milanesa Beef was right on for me. My entire plate was tasty with nice big portions. The girlfriend commented that her Caldo de Res was just like how her Mom made it, which was quite the stamp of approval. After loading up our tummies with good Mexican food for not a lot of $, we were back in the car & ready to finish our journey home. Suzey Belen's Authentic Mexican Restaurant is a solid Mexican food option in Oakdale.

This place is a great find. I ordered the carnitas which were delicious (I'll be back for more) and my husband ordered the Aztec beef, which was tender and flavorful (a few bites jumped onto my plate until I got that "don't-steal-another-bite" look. We lived in Mexico for six winters, so we're pretty picky about our Mexican food--this is the good stuff. My parents ordered the chili rellenos and they said they were "very good", but not "the best they have had." The service was warm and friendly and we started with complimentary chips, salsa and refried beans. Margarita Happy Hour was 4-7 pm ($3 margaritas, $4 on-the-rocks), and they were made with 100% Agave tequila, but sadly I could tell from that telltale iridescent glow (FD&C blue #6) that they used a margarita mix. Even so, they were decent margaritas and I'd order them again.

  • andrea m.

Great service. Delicious complimentary salsa and retried beans. Burritos are enormous. The meat in every dish we ordered was cooked and seasoned to perfection (steak azteca, tacos, and milanesa). Margaritas were fine but nothing special (I don't know where people are seeing the "fresh fruit" in the margarita besides the lime wedge on the glass rim. Will definitely come back next time we drive through Oakdale on our way to Yosemite.

Stopped here on my way up to Lake Tulloch, and this is some great Mexican food. I got a chili verdi burrito and a chicken mole burrito, and both were excellent. The burritos are huge, and prices are also very reasonable.

Very friendly staff. Didn't eat dinner just drinks and chips and salsa. The best margaritas in town!

The food is fresh and delicious. The super burritos are SUPER huge! The bean dip with the chips and salsa were a big hit with the kids. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our large group of 10, including 8 kids. Will definitely stop again on our way through town.

Can I give a negative star? Everything was burnt and service was half a$$ed. Will never return. Oh and there was 3 people in the restaurant, counting us and they still messed up the food.

Service 5 stars! The server was a sweeheart! Bean dip, chips, and salsa 5 stars! However, I have to take one star away on our meal. My bf found a small bone chip in his burrito and my veggie burrito was a big huge and lacking in taste. Overall, we will be back.... it was a good experience.

We came here twice in 1 weekend on our trip to Yosemite! The first time, I didn't really want fast food for dinner, so we found this place close to Highway 120. The restaurant is pretty big with a separate area for bigger parties. The staff was very nice and welcoming. They offer chips and bean dip & salsa for free. The bean dip was pretty good. My bf had the burrito with enchilada, which also came with rice and beans. The burrito was pan fried and was delicious! I guess I was hungrier than I thought because I didn't know I ordered so much until all the food came. I had the enchilada and tacos on the side. They were pretty big portions and I was stuffed by the end of the meal. The second time we came here when we were leaving Yosemite for lunch. I had the chicken quesadilla, which was also very filing. Yum! We will definitely come back the next time we make a trip to Yosemite.

Unfortunately, we stopped here on the way to Yosemite. How does it have such a high rating? It might be the best thing in Oakdale, but it's awful compared to Bay Area standards. Considering that all four of us got indigestion after eating here, it really deserves one star. But our waitress was delightful, so she's worth a nod. They also have at least three bathrooms, which is cool (but I can see why they're necessary).

We came here after our yosemite hike. SInce there weren't much choice in this neighborhood we decided to give this restaurant a shot. The food overall is pretty good, they even custom made some of our orders since it wasn't on the menu. Our waitress was very friendly overall we have a good time

My husband and I got into Oakdale on Friday evening and walked over to Suzey Belen's. After reading the review on YELP I decided this sounded like a great place to eat. We were not disappointed, we arrived shortly after 9pm (got a bit turned around on our walk over) and they greeted us with smiles even though I think they were supposed to close at 9 :) Anyway, we had the special of the day Chili Colorado and Verde with beans and rice. They started us off with really great warm chips, salsa and a small bowl of refried beans, all yummy. The Colorado and Verde were really good and we enjoyed the sides as well. A good place off the beaten path in Oakdale. A definate do-over.

We stopped on our way back to Sacramento from Yosemite. We were really hungry and hot. The service was great! They brought water right away as well as GREAT salsa, chips and a bean dip. We ordered a chicken burrito, child's bean burrito, Chile Colorado and I ordered Ala carte because it all looked good and I wanted a variety. We shared it all among the table. Fish tacos were fresh flavored with the tomatillo salsa, as were the shrimp. The Chicken Mole enchilada was GREAT, GREAT, GREAT! The best mole I have tasted (other than my own :) ). The street tacos, beef and carnita, were terrific and LARGE. I expected those little white corn tortillas. They were on large corn tortillas (2 each taco) and had at least 4 oz of meat on each taco, topped with cilantro (I don't like raw onions). We called the owner over (he was there) and told him that he needs to open shop in North Eastern Sacramento!!! My nephew could not say enough about how good the burrito was (10 years old). A week later, after having a different bean burrito, he exclaimed that he liked the one at Suzey Belen's MUCH better. This is a family friendly place with many locals in attendance. Prices were very affordable but I would have paid more for this terrific, authentic fare! Gracias Suzey Belens, mucho gusto!!!!

I wandered upon this place searching for some good chile verde, an elusive dish up in the portland area. It was after nine on a friday, the main restaurant was quiet but it looked like there was an event in a back room. I sat outside with my dog on the gorgeous fall evening, and the staff was friendly to both of us. The chips and salsa were delicious. Mostly corn, but some flour chips, and some colored chips. The salsa was great. It had a decent kick even, and they brought me some picante as well, a small cup of green sauce. The chile verde was pretty good. Not quite 5-stars, but I definitely won't turn my nose. Nice big tender chunks of pork in a nice green sauce. I like a bit more depth of flavor...more roast, more tang. The rice was excellent, fluffy and buttery. The beans were fine, nothing to write home about, but hey...they're beans. My margarita (rocks, salt) was great. Not one of those overmixed super-sweet 'ritas that make my gut hurt, this tasted like it might have real lime in it. And enough tequila to keep you sipping.

I dont understand how someone could not give this place 5 stars. This is my favorite restaurant by far in Oakdale. It's even better than Bill Wong's. I pretty much always get the number 30 which is Chicken a la parrilla in a chipotle red sauce. it's amazing. They also have flour chips in the chip basket which is always a plus. The service is really good. Most of the time we have someone right on top of things and they are always super polite. The parking lot is big. The place is also very large so i don't think there will ever be a wait time. i think you get ice cream or cake or something when it's your birthday also.

We are new to the Oakdale area and always looking for great places to eat at. A lot of people from my work actually eat at Suzeys so I decided to get my husband and 3 kids in the car and try it out for my self. What a BIG place. They even have a hall you can have a private party in. I will definatly be throwing a party for my husband there. The staff... WONDERFUL to my surprise the woman taking our order was also the owner. There are very few restaurants you will see the owner at or even taking your order. She was soooo nice and so friendly my kids loved her. Such a family atmospher. A great family restaurant. Now down to the FOOD.... Being rased in a mexican community I have eaten at a lot and I mean a lot of mexican restaurants. I ordered two tacos with a side of beans and rice. I personally like my tacos with all the fixing already in them but they come on the side and actually it was nice since I was able to put how much onion and cilantro I really wanted. I couldn't finish all of my food they really give you a lot. It was good. This is somewhere I will definatly be back to in the near future. GREAT PLACE FOR FAMILIES...

When I was a little kid growing up in Oakdale this place was a Mexican restaurant. My family went there only occasionally (3 teenage boys and a equally hungry little girl to feed). Many years have passed and Suzey Belen's is in that same building - expanded and remodeled. The food is wonderful. The people great. Ten of us, went there to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We ate, we sang, we laughed, we drank...the staff had cake, too. New memories in a good place.

I LOVED this place. We ate here on our way back from Yosemite. The food was exceptional, and the staff was extremely nice to us and our children. I had the lunch combo with a flauta made with a flour tortilla, and a chili relleno stuffed with shredded beef and cheese. My husband had the same. Glorious. We ate the flauta and found it to be perfectly enough, so we took the rellenos home. We'll be back. Heck, we might even come to Oakdale just to eat here. It seems like a nice place!

Great dinner stop on the way to Yosemite! It is family run with a very nice waitress staff. Burritos are great and you can requested chopped steak in burritos and enchiladas. They come with red or a mild green sauce. Will surely recommend it to travelers going through Oakdale since it is just off main corridor.

Outstanding chimichangas, my buddy loved the fajitas. Verdict on the veggie burritos was "amazing". Friendly staff, very attentive. I've tried a few and this is the best in town.

I have found another wonderful Mexican restaurant in the Valley! Suzey Balen's is pretty much un-heard of by most people I suspect. I would never even have known it existed if not for a random work meeting held there at 7:30 a.m....yes...breakfast at a Mexican restaurant (A first for me!). The restaurant is actually right of the main highway but they lack any kind of obvious signage pointing the way there so you really have to keep your eyes peeled to find it. So, that first time I ate there for breakfast, I had a breakfast burrito with scrambled eggs, sausage, and potatoes. It was pretty dang good. Well, I ate there again this weekend for lunch with my husband and was once again not let down! You can pretty much count on me ordering a quesadilla at every Mexican restaurant I eat at so, naturally, thats what I ordered. I had grilled chicken on mine and my husband had one with carne asada. The chicken tasted like it had actually been barbecued on a grill complete with barbecue sauce, and my husbands steak quesadilla Also tasted like barbecue! It was not what I expected at all but, it was surprisingly delicious! I'd say that the food here is definitely a bit "white washed" but I think that might give them the edge over other traditional Mexican eateries. We also had two margaritas each that we thought were made with some kind of soda water, giving them a kick of carbonation which made them unique and refreshing. The service was excellent. The waitresses were very attentive and as friendly as you could ask for in a waitress. Great customer service! Another unique aspect that might make you want to check this place out is that it is actually located inside Oakdale's Sierra Railroad's old station, so you're basically eating in an old train station turned restaurant which I thought was cool.

We stopped here on our way back from Yosemite and it was soo delish! I wish this place were in my neighborhood in SF. It's very casual but totally hit the spot.. super tasty enchiladas, great salsa and dip, and the people were super nice (especially to our little one!). I'm craving the meal we had and can't wait to go back next year when we travel through Oakdale again.

Three days in Oakdale and I'm not a fan. I've been there twice already (at the choice of others) and I think the next time I'll voice my opinion prior. Both times the service was awful, there weren't enough menus or tablesettings, and getting out was a bitch. I had the carnitas plate and the carne asada, and both were "meh". What really does it for me is having to flag down somebody whenever you want anything. And I mean ANYthing. And some kid (literally, somebody's child) shouldn't be taking my beer order or bringing it.

My favorite Mexican food in the valley..so good. Yes, sometimes the service is a little slow, but the food is more than worth it. This is literally a family-owned and operated restaurant, people! The food is great and all of the people working there are super friendly.

There have only been two times in my life that I have found a meal to be inedible. The first was an octopus dish that tasted like mud that I had to walk away from in Portugal (and octopus is usually delicious). That was back in 1986. The second time was the fish tacos from Susey Belen's, that I had to give up on this evening. The servers were kind and polite. The restaurant was full. There were no red flags to indicate what was to come. I was very hungry, thus even greater my disappointment! The food came very late, after a couple of families who ordered after us were served big meals. I could ignore being served late, after all, wait staff works hard, and as I said, they were trying. When my plate finally came, It had a nice presentation...but, the fish was fried hard as a brick, encased in something that defies description, and devoid of any flavor. The quantity of "red sauce" in the tacos would not have filled an eye dropper. After one tooth jarring bite, I took my knife and fork, and cracked opened the taco, to see what was worth rummaging for inside...there were no tomatoes as promised in the description. The fried thick corn tortillas were like mortar for the brick that was supposed to be the fish. I gave up on the tacos, but hungry as I was, I moved on, and tried the rice and beans. Pain on top of pain...No flavor, stale tasting. A total disappointment. Hospital food and school lunches in Riverbank are more edible than what I was served this evening, and they don't cost as much! I honestly don't know how any professional could have allowed that plate out of the kitchen! It was so bad, nothing could have fixed it, that is why I did not say anything to the staff. The waitress saw I barely touched it, but did not ask. I just wanted to leave, ignoring my still empty stomach. I will not be back. Take my advice...take your dining dollars somewhere else!

Suzey RETURNS! (to the original, cozy spot one block off of the highway, turn at House of Beef.) Their good food and service remains, as others have overwhelmingly described. The "new" cavernous restaurant was surely uneconomical: at times we would be there with 5 other tables happily filled, yet 3/4 empty volume. We might have lost this folkloric gem. Suzy is the Local secret, exactly what Yelpers look for.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
