Hello all. It's me again. Well let's get to it! Can't say I have had a variety of menu? No. Have I had the need to venture far from the one thing that brings me back time after time? No. Curious what that menu item I'm referring to? I hope so. It's the one and only: bur ... Wait for it ... rito. Carne asada burrito! Now this isn't your typical burrito which is a bad representation of the real thing. This one doesn't have guacamole or sour cream or grated cheese. Rice, beans and meat. Just how God made them for all of us mortals to enjoy! Meat is honestly the most tender I've had in a burrito. Beans are freshly made and refried. Rice is perfectly seasoned. Get some tortilla chips on the side for crunch with a side of salsa and you are instantly taking to the gates of burrito heaven. Enjoy!

I live in West Covina. Came across this restaurant by luck. And the reason I say this is because I was tired of eating burgers. I don't want to say its a hole in the wall because it is very clean. However if you tried looking for it you won't find it. Its its way in the back of a small strip mall. I had the red chili burrito and it was awesome. The flavor took me back to when I was 14 years old in my neighborhood of Highland Park. I haven't tasted a burrito Iike this in a long time. Highly recommended excellent service family owned treat you like family.

Great authentic Mexican food and even better service! We were so impressed. Our group of 6 adults and 6 kids came here after visiting a nearby museum. Not only were they super nice about cleaning up the tables and floor after one of the kids spilled a drink, they offered free lemonades to all the kids because the weather was so hot. We ordered the hand made guacamole, quesadillas, tacos, burritos, combo plates and everything was eaten! Nice and clean and the people that run the restaurant are very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!

I absolutely love this place! I always have the Chile Rellenos combo, it's just soooo good. The service is great as well, they're very attentive. I definitely recommend this place.

I decided to try the place out based on the Yelp reviews, the food is pretty bland ant it feels as if its lost its authenticity. I gave it two stars for it being clean and for having a friendly staff. I asked for a Carne Asada wet burrito in red chilli sauce and some asada nachos and no drinks for a total of $17 and change pricey for what i received. The wet burrito had NO RICE and hardly any meat it would be better described as a bean and cheese burrito as i had to dig to find traces of asada meat. The sauce it was smothered was of a brown color even though i asked for red sauce and had zero spice or kick to it. I cant comment on the nachos as the plate was not for me but from the looks of it it did not look appetizing. I would definitely pass on this place.

This place is the best! Friendly, fast service. They start cooking my food as soon as they see me and my friend, they even remember that I like a side of sour cream!! They treat you like family and the food is wonderful. Try the childen enchiladas with rice and beans.they give you plenty of food for the costs. You go once and try it. ..then you will always go back for more!

We have been coming here for over 15 years. The staff is Phenomenal, the food is always hot and fresh, and they have great prices for the size. And burritos are big and delicious too. One of our go too Ma & Pa food joints.

Found this place on Yelp while visiting a friend in a hospital near by. Wow am honestly amazed at the customer service. The food was so good and full of favor. Kristina kept on checking on us to see if we need anything which was not expected but definitely appreciated. I will definitely come back here if am in the area.

Oh my gosh!!! The August monthly special is awesome!!! You guys have to try them. I guess it's only for August though. (Chicken Taquitos with a special guacamole sauce... Lettuce, mex cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream) I'll be back for this treat again, for sure. It makes me miss Can Cun... Thanks again Rancho Grande, for the good eats!

I don't see what all the hype is about this place. 4.5 stars really? I stopped in today and ordered the chicken flautas with guacamole. Very disappointed. Salsa was very bland had no spice, guacamole very bland very very few fresh veggies such as cilantro or tomatoes in it.maybe I ordered the wrong thing but usually salsa and guacamole are the staples of your restaurant and both of these were bland bland bland. Staff was very nice prices were good that's why they get three stars but I won't be back

I am a first time customer. As I walked in, I was immediately greeted by Christina, who was very friendly & courteous. Even the cooks took the time to smile & greet me. Wow After listening to Christina's suggestions, my wife decided on the Chicken Flautas, with the works. I ordered the Huevos Con Carnitas. We both absolutely loved the way our orders were prepared. It tasted like our order was made from scratch giving it that authentic Mexican food taste. The restaurant is a cozy Mexican grill & the restrooms are very clean. The cooking area, from my point of view appeared to be an A+ VERY CLEAN & well organized. with plenty of parking & Handicap accessible. We will definitely spread the word & return with friends & family. Rancho Grand is definitely a 5 Star Authentic Mexican Grill. Great job!

Just moved in the area and this is hands down the best Mexican food I've had that can't compare to anything else when it comes to speed and taste. Motherrr fucker is it good.

  • Kimberly C.

Authentic Mexican food for sure! It's delicious. Friendly service and easy on the wallet. I had the chicken quesadilla which comes with sour cream and guacamole. The guacamole is really fresh, unlike other places where it tastes spoiled. The rice is also delicious, the beans are on point. If you're in the area and craving Mexican food, definitely check this place out! They have a chile relleno dish that's also to die for!

I'm new to Norwalk and this is the first Mexican place I have visited. I ordered the September monthly special to go. Two carnitas soft tacos, rice, and a drink for $7.95. The service was incredible and the food was excellent. I received my order in under two minutes! I will definitely be visiting this taco shop again.

Was the bomb.. The service was attentive and great people. Food was so awesome. I had flautas and beans. Son had nachos. He couldn't finish them. Can't wait to come back

Omg..the September special..2 carnitas tacos, rice and drink.. $7.95. So good!! Tacos are on flour tortillas with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and cilantro. The meat was so tender and juicy!! I know where I'll be eating this month!

  • Ina L.

Love the family-owned vibe. You are welcomed and thanked as you come in and out. Carnitas was unlike any I have ever had before! Everything tastes fresh and flavorful! I appreciate the professionalism of their website. Lots of other Mexican restaurants do not include prices and this was helpful. I would come back again for sure!

  • Geraldine S.

Absolutely excellent service! It's my first time so I asked what are the popular orders, and the lady at the register was more than happy to explain their menu to me. The place is very clean and well ventilated. I ordered The Works Carne Asada Burrito, and it's pretty good although I've tasted better. This place is still worth a try though!

It was really good authentic traditional Mexican food! It hit the spot!! They are really friendly! Sergio the owner comes greets you, very attentive, ask if you have ever been there before, if you haven't he brings out sample to taste his other great food! Which they are without a doubt awesome taste, living you wanting more even though your so full, you just want more! We will be coming!! Was so good we forgot to take pictures lol the flavors amazing. To busy eating!

Love my Mexican food but I didn't love it here. Vegetarians be careful. I think that their vegetarian burrito has refried beans. Response to Rancho Grande: Refried beans are not vegan and certainly not vegetarian. Vegetarian means no meat and meat products in food. Most refried beans have pork in them...a meat product. Therefore, not vegetarian. There are some food companies that sell vegetarian refried beans but it all depends on the ingredient list.

  • Clarissa L.

Thumbs up and decent prices! The salsa is liquidy but the flavor is excellent. I got the Louie Special, huge burrito with a lot of different flavors! Needs a little more texture but getting the chips and salsa definitely helped to scoop all that good sauce and burrito debris. We got some green salsa on the side and I'm 85% sure there's cucumber in it which is interesting- not bad, just interesting. Will be going back again and trying more stuff soon!

Chile relleno burrito was excellent as well as the taquitos. Fresh chips and salsa were perfect. I will be returning Friendly service

I found this place on Yelp and I was very pleased! It's a small hole in the wall off the 605 fwy and Rosecrans, but it's clean, simple, and comfortable. Christina greeted us warmly and recommended some delicious items. She even brought our food to us and it looks more like a fast food joint. She even took the time to check on us a few times to see how things were going. The meat is super tender!!! It was delicious and made with love. We got the works burrito, asada fries, and the hard shelled asada taco. She even gave me extra pico de gallo for free. The portions were very generous and omg I will def go again! I'm not big on giving 5's, but def a fan and will plan on coming back. I don't know if it's as good as it gets, but it def was up there with the courteous service and yummy food. On the fence? Try it yourself and see, you won't be disappointed.

Very disappointed considering I'm a huge fan of Mexican food I came here solely on the 4.5 star rating and the reviews of this place being "authentic" and tastes home made which I would know nothing about since I didn't grow up in a Mexican household. I don't see why people would call this place "authentic" maybe I have the wrong idea but I was grown on Mexican food and places that add sour cream, shredded cheese, and etc was not authentic. I got the carne asada burrito and my friend got the beef taquitos. The carne asada burrito was just plain disappointing. First bite was just all beans and the second and the third ..... Don't get me wrong the beans were good but I like my burrito to be proportional. If you are a fan of bean and cheese burritos this would be the place for you. My friends taquitos I kid you not taste just like Jose oles the ones you get from the grocery store and the "guacamole" that came with it was just as bad had no taste it was just bland. The salsa that comes with the chips before your meal was bland and tasted watered down so I suggest you ask for the green sauce it has a lil spice to it but so much more worth it. The best part of this experience was the service they were really on point clearing out plates and coming to your table to make sure everything was ok TWICE just disappointed in the food and I was hoping to find a good Mexican joint around here.

  • Bella R.

Authentic Mexican food. The salsa is made to perfection, the meats are all tender and juicy and the family who owns this restaurant are the nicest people you will ever meet. They have many options on their menu and the food will not disappoint. I will be back again!

This family joint has the best service to offer. The all meat burrito was very good and the green salsa is the best. Ask for Sergio and you will not be disappointed . The front person is really courteous and the place is clean. Thanks Rancho we really had some great time.

  • Nora S.

The food here is excellent. The carne asada torta is yummy and the asada in it actually comes in one piece - not chopped up like other places. We also had the barbacoa bean and cheese burrito. The barbacoa is full of flavor and it hit the spot. My husband tried the chile relleno plate and he loved it as well. Everything we've tried here so far is sooo good and you can taste the love put into the food. You can't go wrong here.

The older woman who works there can be rude sometimes and speak in a condescending tone. The food itself is good. I just wish a nicer cashier were there because the other workers seem great and competent.

Such a wonderful surprise. First time here and we are all leaving stuffed! Started us off with chips and tasty salsa, then brought us some green spicier salsa, with a warning about the kick--it was great. My husband had 3 street tacos, while my mom.and I shared nachos supreme. We all tremendously enjoyed our lunch, and will surely be back...soon!

I've been coming to this place with my dad since I was I child it is absolutely my favorite Mexican place ever. The Louie special is an obvious go to because it has a little bit of everything. I'd also recommend the nachos. Chicken and pork are always great. I haven't had the asada very often but that's for you to try. Come in for a family feel and great food.

Love the friendly attitude of all staff members. I have been coming here for over 20 years and have never had a bad experience. My favorite dish is the grilled chicken plate......yummy. The chips and salsa are also made fesh daily. To save on waste you must request chips and salsa especially on to go orders. I highly recommend this restaurant for delicious Mexican food if you are in the Norwalk area. You won't regret giving it a try. Did I say it was yummy.........

I will not go back ! After 30 minutes waiting for my food and people after me getting there food first mine came out wrong !! After the lady telling me people are human we all make mistakes she proceeds to have my right order made ! I told her at this point i would take the wrong plate I had to go she says they will be throwing it away and it would only be five minutes. How wasteful and rude !! And then food was just ok !!!

  • Cherise C.

Normally they have great customer service and excellent food. I love their Louie special burrito, but I always let them know I don't like guacamole or sour cream at all makes me sick. Bring it home and see that they had accidentally put on sour cream and guac, so decided to take it back and ask them to redo it. They did not remake the burrito its the same one they just scraped off the sauce and put more sauce on it,,,, I know its the same burrito cuz I had cut a hole to see if it was my pork one. I have loved this place for many years but this makes me question how they do things?..... I feel they should have remade the burrito!!

  • Jose V.

This place was great. The staff was friendly, from the guy who helped us to the kitchen worker who made our food. I ordered the louie special, big ass wet burrito, enough to share with a giant soda. The meat was tender and the sauce was perfect. Then they surprised us with some free taquitos cus it was our first time here and it was bomb!!. Glad i found this spot.

  • Brian M.

My first time to eat at Rancho Grande, and it was GREAT. The service was friendly and fast. Chile Relleno & beef taco, the way I first try a new mexican restaurant. Shredded beef, not ground, fantastic. The chile Relleno was better than 95%. I'll definitely be back again and again

If you are fortunate in your timing you will walk in just as a couple pounds of carne asada is hitting the grill. The steam will briefly cloud the kitchen and your first cranial nerve will start a rapid-fire signal of approval, inducing a touch of ecstasy and assuring you, that in terms of karma, you are living right! This is the best time to order a few tacos with the same ingredient and sit back with a bucket of horchata to enjoy your successful living. I wrote a more comprehensive review a month ago, but for an unknown reason most of the good reviews of this king of the hole-in-the-wall's are unjustly hidden...weird.

  • Regina F.

I was searching for a local cheap and authentic Mexican restaurant, and that's exactly what I found!.I found it on yelp, it was kind of hidden, but totally worth it.they give you big portions, and you can tell they take the time to cook you a good meal .I got an enchilada and taco special with rice and beans for about 9$. Food was amazing , I would def. Go again.

  • Jaws S.

Hands down the best Mexican food I've ever had. The specials like their Louie Special are hits as well as my favorite the Carne asada burrito. Melts in your mouth. I have not found a place that has the same yummy rice. Chile rellenos are hand made every day and super good. Best of all is the warm smile and great service from this family run business. Eat up!

  • Jason R.

I have been a loyal customer of this small gem tucked in the shopping center on the corner of Rosecrans/Studebaker since about 1986. The customer service is always top-notch. The food is ridiculously delicious and I have recommended this place and taken so many people to this place over the years...many of them turned into fellow admirers of their food. I highly recommend the "Louie Special" (wet supreme burrito)...actually all the wet burritos, taquitos, grilled chicken plate, etc...the beans are phenomenal. If you haven't tried this place yet, do yourself a favor and place your phone order NOW!

    (5)
  • Alie C.

The food is delicious but the service is "so-so" the owner/that is usually also the cashier has a tendency to be quite rude, and for the record she could look a little more professional or at least like she showered in the morning. AND THE MUSIC THEY PLAY IS HORRENDOUS, which is why i always get my food to go.

  • Amy H.

I ordered 2 plain carne asada tacos for my 2 year old son. I specifically told the owner of this place that I would like them WELL done. I open it to serve it to my son and it's pink! Almost raw! My bf and I take it back and the owner said he's a restaurant guy he's been in the business for years and the meat was cooked. When my boyfriend opened the tacos and showed him the raw meat the owner was quick to change his story. He simply said "do not order carne asada tacos!". He was arrogant and a complete idiot! I would NEVER come to this place again! This post was based simply on the ignorance of the owner not the staff.

  • Sandy R.

Although the location of this place may not be "high" end, it makes up for the quality and delicious food it serves. I have tried many bean and cheese burritos and the one made here stands out to say the least. The ingredients are fresh and the beans are made "smooth" and not clumpy like other burritos I have tasted. The chips, salsa and guacamole are A+ in my point of view. The owners are very accommodating to my vegetarian needs. I am east Indian and there are so many mexican restaurant's I can choose from in this area. Chris who took our orders is always very friendly and helpful with describing the dishes. I, also have called in my orders in the past and have had no problems. Thank you, Rancho Grande!

Louie Special ... nuff said. The pork is nice and tender. The amount of sauce they put over the burrito is perfect. The burrito itself is beast. Get pretty full after just a burrito. The cashier was super nice and gave me some tips on what to order. Will be coming back for that beast [:

This place was alright, nothing too special i would say. my friend and i walked in on a friday night and the place was empty. i am the type of person that judges a place by how many people are inside. The lady quickly greeted us and took out order. The service was fast and friendly. I got a regular carne asada burrito, chicken nachos supreme. my friend ordered the cheese enchiladas. The burrito was alright, it consisted of a ton of beans, and an ok amount of meat. The chicken nachos supreme were good, definitely recommend them. Definitely recommend the orange bang. Overall an ok experience. Oh and i heard this place use to have a salsa bar, i did not see it on my visit there.

I ate here a couple days ago with my buddies. Im not going to lie, I expected some okay Mexican food that was fairly priced. I was like" it's close so might as well eat here." boy I was wrong. Big sized burritos with great sauce. My friends and I were like" God damn, this burrito is very exquisite my friend" very good pricing. Very good service. I salute you Rancho grande.

Having grown up in Norwalk, Rancho Grande is one of my all-time favorite places to eat, anywhere! I've been eating here for close to 30 years, and their food never disappoints (but if you happen to be disappointed about something in your life, just stop by and have a #10 combo and you'll be all smiles again!). I have many fond memories of this place. Much love and respect to the lovely family who owns and operates Rancho Grande. :)

This place is the best bar none. I eat here at least once a week and have never had a problem the quality is over the top and the service is always helpful and friendly. Tonight I had the carne asada tacos and as always it was perfect! It was moist, flavorful and a great value. I will continue to come here and recommend all my friends and family..

There are many selections of Mexican restaurants in these parts of town, but not too many are worth the search. That's my problem in living in a town with not much of an option. However I struck a motherloade at this place where I thought I had some of the best taquitos and burritos I have ever had. Rancho Grande is hidden in a corner of a depressed strip mall next to a dry cleaner and a water replenishment center. With a duo combo of short timers, parking will not be a problem in this lot. Inside of the place wasn't much to look at. Tables are set up to look like a small subway benches. There is a self serve nacho chips counter with condiments. The thing that would bring me back is their $5 All Meat Burrito. You can choose the meat of either beef, pork, or chicken. Please choose the beef. The other must ordered item is their taquitos. Until you get these chewy and delicious taquitos, you will never know how freshly made these things compared to supermarket bought. For about $2.35 for two, it's a stiff on the price, but well worth it. Their chicken or beef soft tacos are worth ordering also. They also have a menu of combos worth taking with rice and chips. If you ever in the neighborhood and in a taquitos fix, this place would be a good place to start.

I've been loving this place for many years. The Louie special is always bomb! 1.5lbs of a wet burrito! :) I can eat the whole thing... Rancho Grande, please let me know when you have another burrito contest. I'm down to eat more than one burrito.

It's an upscale version of Taco Bell and Del Taco. If you want real Mexican food go some place like "El taco Rico" or "Alberto's" which is also here in Norwalk. No offense, but white ppl don't be fooled. This isn't real Mex Food.

When in Norwalk, also having grown up here, rancho grande is one of my favorite Mexican food spots. The barbacoa plate is pretty delicious!

Yummy! I had the enchilada plate with 1 cheese and 1 beef. It came with just made rice and beans. All was very fresh. My honey had the barbacoa plate and loved it. The guacamole was made to order and the chips and salsa ( really more like hot sauce) was really tasty. The owner was really nice and we will definitely be back.

This place is amazing. I'd been looking for great Mexican food since I moved to SoCal and was getting frustrated. I found this place on yelp and am so glad. It's a hidden treasure place. It's not a traditional restaurant but more of an open, friendly place, which I really love. The food is amazing and I crave it all the time, and the owner is a super friendly mother hen--she remembers you and always asks how you're doing. If you go, the carne asada burrito and tacos are killer!

...overall great experience...i live really close to this place and was craving tacos...if it wasn't for yelp i never would have known this place existed...went to the wrong strip mall at first trying to find this place...to find it its by the splash laundromat close to the chevron...the restaurant was all the way at the end...as i walked in i was greeted by this really nice lady...i decided to try the all meat beef burrito and beef taco...the food was quickly brought to my table...there's a a salsa bar with self serve chips and salsa...the burrito was exactly how i pictured it...really good flavor...i liked the beef taco also...flavorful and it wasn't greasy like the other beef tacos i've tried at other places...there was a TV to watch...i just happen to come in to watch the simpsons and king of the hill...which added to my dining experience...they gave me a sample of the carne asada...i should have got that in my burrito and taco instead...it was delicious...really good food and friendly people...would definitely return soon to try evrything else on the menu...

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
