I love Geppino's! The food is excellent. They start you with buttery garlic rolls and it's hard to keep myself from eating like 5 rolls in a row. I really like the Franny's carbonara, my parent's love the egg plant parmesan, and my husband has enjoyed every pasta he has tried so far. They are super sweet to our little guy and bring him some tiny pasta and meat balls from their Italian wedding soup. For dessert, the butter cake and the gremone soufle (no idea how to the spell that) are really good. The Gremone soufle is the best! It has like a fluffy custardy bottom and chocolate lattice work around, then is filled with strawberries. They only make it for special events, but I wish they had it more often.

I judge an traditional Italian place on four things: Meatballs, chicken parm, the veal marsala, and the level of hospitality. Because of this criteria, I can't possibly try each thing on one visit, and I can't possibly visit 2-3 times each and every Italian restaurant. There simply isn't time for this, and it's not great for my waistline. Small, family-owned restaurant that feels like a home. Warm greeting, nicely decorated with a modern decor. The co-owner lady was the highlight of our night, because of how awkward she made us feel. There were 4 of us, 2 couples. The guys (me and J) got all the attention, and our gals got so little it was embarrassing. We were massaged every chance the co-owner got; poured wine to us guys first; asked us how we liked our food. Totally and utterly weird. How was this saved? Our main server was outstanding, one of the several daughters. The second highlight was that they were very generous with the wine. We ordered 1 bottle, and finished it. We ordered a second bottle, and per the co-owner, she offered another bottle for free. Of course, we took her up on it. Then, when that was finished, she offered us yet another couple of glasses to "finish off a bottle". Yep, we took that, too! Thus, we let the ladies drive us to our homes. Overall, I would say the food was fair, at best, except for the custom dish, which I would explain below: Classic Spaghetti - Served with three meatballs (or sausage), but I like meatballs (like alot), so that's what I ordered. Well, normally. Meatballs had no flavor whatsoever, and were so bready. Well priced for $13.99, but epic fail. (2.5 stars) Shrimp Pesto - customized from the chicken pesto angel hair, this penne concerto was a masterpiece. Totally delish! Pesto was spectacular, and shrimps (8-10) were medium sized and very fresh. ($17.99, 5.0 stars) Overall: A 3.5 experience, but rounded down for the awkward behavior.

So I have now eaten at Geppino's 3 times. Each time we have had one of the daughters wait on us and all 3 have been amazing!!!! So kudos to the parents on raising great daughters. The food was amazing all 3 times!!! I have had the Lobster Ravioli and the Baked Ziti, twice (I'm a sucker for a good ziti!!). And the food has been fantastic! So good!!! Had dessert as well. The pastry chef (one of the daughters) is truly talented. My only complaint is that the owner seemed a little annoyed at us. The 2nd time I came in it was with some girlfriends and I guess there was a reservation after us and it was becoming obvious to us she wanted us to leave (which we did). And then tonight we did not have a reservation but they were able to get my family a table and when we left my mom and dad both thanked the owner for accommodating us and she didn't acknowledge it with even an "you're welcome" or "no problem, have a nice evening". So that put me off a little... We can tell that this is definitely a neighborhood place because she was very welcoming to what I am assuming are her friends/family, but it would have been nice for her to acknowledge that my parents thanked her.

Great, authentic Italian food! Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a delicious Italian meal. Pastas are great and they have delicious pizzas too! I can't wait to visit their new location in Thousand Oaks.

This restaurant is amazing! The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very relaxing. Fran the owner couldn't be more helpful in making us feel very welcome. My favorite is the Gnocchi and a glass of their Three Sisters Wine. This is definitely my new favorite place to eat.

This is an absolutely lovely place to go for dinner. The restaurant is family run and has a very friendly and welcoming feel. The staff was wonderful and made us feel very comfortable and welcome. The food was delicious and well prepared. The desserts are also handmade and are just delectable. This would be a great date night spot or special occasion dinner spot. I will definitely be returning.

Tried this nice little Italian restaurant last night as I was way too tired after the long week to make something at home. This is a nice little hole-in-the-wall restaurant situated right off East Los Angeles Avenue (the 118) in the city of Moorpark. Parking is abundant in the shared private lot. It was moderately crowded inside but found a small table no problem. This is a great alternative to the famous BBQ place just down the street if they are too crowded. This restaurant is family owned and I met the nice Mom and three daughters who ran this place. Very pleasant people and hard working. The inside of the restaurant is very comfortable. Tables and seats are very new and the location is very clean, which always is a good sign for a restaurant. This is a new place and has been around since late 2013; I think it opened in October, but am not sure. Prices are reasonable yet not cheap, if you have a drink and share an appetizer you are looking at about $25-30 a person after tax and tip depending on what you order. I read the other reviews and found a few a little too harsh and hyper critical. I went with 4-stars verses 5-stars, as they have the potential for a 5-star rating but I am looking for a slight improvement on the food. My Lasagna was slightly cold in the center, but lava hot on the outside, the Fresh Bruschetta was tasty but the baguettes were under cooked and soggy. Additionally, there was like a 15-minute pause in service after dinner where I was just sitting there waiting for my check and all the servers were talking with other guests. I was ready to go but had to flag someone down for the check. Still this is a great improvement to the area and the Moorpark dinning experience. Excellent service, for almost the entire dinner, very pleasant, polite, and mostly efficient hostess and servers. The atmosphere was very nice as well despite the drunken retirement party going on with loud and obnoxious older folks. I did not sample the dessert, but it looked great as well. I will be back for sure and other than the few minor issues mentioned, this would be a 5-star review. Good luck Geppino's look forward to returning.

I have been here twice now and I have to say that this place is rapidly becoming one of my favorite Italian restaurants. The food is delicious. It is well prepared and the portions are large. I have had the eggplant parmesan, which was a special one night, and the Joey's Amatriciana. Both were outstanding choices. I added the capers to the Joey's Amatriciana and it was a nice touch. The starter salad and rolls were also very good. I tasted the ribeye which was the special on our second visit, and it was amazing. Marinated and cooked just right. Oh sooooo good! This is a small restaurant located in a strip mall in Moorpark. You might miss it if you aren't looking. The inside is on the small side but there seems to be plenty of seating as well as a few tables outside on the patio in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is also very clean and decorated very nicely, with a nice homey feel. The service is excellent. Brianna was our server for both visits and she is fantastic. She answered our questions and offered suggestions. This is a family run place and the servers often stop to talk and visit. They make everyone feel welcome. Sometimes this translates into having to wait a few extra minutes for your check. I highly recommend giving Geppino's a try. Good food and great service = nice dinner out! I can't wait to come back.

I've been here many times. Such a cute little Italian place. Super sweet staff and makes my experience great. ALTHOUGH, tonight we ordered food for pick up, 2 chicken piccata plates and 3 baked ziti dishes. BOTH chickens were raw and we had to recook them. And the baked ziti was less than impressive. Super bummed but I think that will be our last time at this restaurant.

D&G looove this place! Small family owned restaurant has a great atmosphere and delicious food! We have tried several menu items all which we have been very happy with. Personal favorites Nanas pizza if your in a pizza mood, raviolis, seafood pasta to name a few. "G" loves "Frannys bolognase", Bow tie in rose' sauce. We love Bre, her gorgeous mum, and her sis. Oh! and their "3 daughters" cab is delish!

I'm Italian, actually I'm Sicilian and this is by far my favorite Sicilian restaurant, for a number of reasons. I've personally sat with the owners, listen to their families story and know first hand this place is truly authentic Sicilian. It's classy, cozy and feels like your home with family. So many little decor pieces in the restaurant are made from family members. I love the atmosphere. Now the best part, the food. Only one word can describe it... phenomenal! The tastes just explodes with authenticity.

Having been a long-time Moorpark resident, the previous dining establishment at this location was practically a landmark. Two Guys From Italy could always be relied upon to provide excellent Italian staples for residents at a reasonable price. Sadly they finally closed and Geppino's is the new don in town... My wife and I ate here last Friday and were very impressed by the professional, friendly and helpful service, the positive attitudes which all of the staff had and the excellent food quality. The gnocchi I had was absolutely perfect and my wife's spinach ravioli was superb as well. These were served alone in these giant serving dishes, which gave the impression that the portion was too small. However in fact the portion was just right, and we left completely filled and satisfied. The salad was also excellent with fresh, crisp greens and a generous portion of black olives. To wrap things up, the dessert was really amazing. My wife had creme puffs and I had a small cake with ice cream, which tasted a lot like bread pudding. Fantastic! One thing that changed along with the new ownership was the removal of the large mirror on one wall. This used to give the impression that the restaurant was far bigger than it actually was. It's now obvious just how small this facility really is. For large parties, you may want to consider a bigger venue. Funny how much difference a mirror can make... Another odd change is the emphasis on the whole mob/Godfather theme, including art and references throughout the restaurant. I understand the popularity of Puzo's novels, but always keep in mind that crime syndicates are no light matter. I can't help but flash back on scenes from the movies involving murder, torture, extortion and other less savory things to ponder while dining. Hmmm... The last little thing to keep in mind while dining at this wonderful restaurant is the price. It's much more expensive than Two Guys ever was. Very pricey! While some of Moorpark's more "blessed" residents will have no problem coughing up the pocket change for regular visits here, the rest of us will have to simply visit less often and only on special occasions. For example - our dinner for two, plus coffee and dessert came to a whopping $82 before tip, and we avoided the more expensive seafood choices. Something to consider! Overall I highly recommend Geppino's and will definitely be back!

Always a pleasure coming here for dinner. Intimate and romantic. Great spot to go out for a date. Delicious well prepared food. A very friendly staff. It can be busy during peak hours but they take reservations. Extensive wine list. Slightly higher price to compensate for the quality ingredients. One of my favorite spots to dine in moorpark, must try.

Our server was the best thing this restaurant has. The owner was rude and ignored us while we stood waiting for a table and she was on the phone. Our good wasn't homemade and tasted awful. It was very disappointing. Our first visit and the owner could careless that the kitchen made the wrong pasta dish and our pizza had no cheese.

Geppino's!!! First time there last night! Read the reviews on Yelp and gave it shot. I was meeting friends coming from Northridge and I am in Thousand Oaks and we wanted something not too far from the fwy. This was perfect, just a couple of signals away. This was a Thursday night, was busy with locals and the servers knew who they were and were wecloming! We got the same welcoming treatment as first-timers : ) The owners were in Sicily visiting relatives - so you know they are legit! Three ladies and we all had seperate checks. I know, what a hassle. But not for Brianna (sp?) she was ah-mazing! It was no hassle for her - she gave her recommendations to us and we were all in heaven with our dinner selections. Bread - was delish!!!! Taleen - ordered Franny's Gnocchi (she was supposed to share but she ate the whole thing) she probably forgot we were supposed to tast it: Franny's Gnocchi Bolognese Potato dumplings served with Franny's bolognese sauce which includes a blend of our sweet marinara and buttery white cream sauce, a pinch of capers, and caramelized prosciutto. Can substitute with penne, rigatoni, or bowtie pasta. Millie - had chicken picada and she couldn't finish it so she boxed it so her hubby can enjoy it for lunch today : ) Marla (me) - ordered Joey's Amatriciana - Rigatoni pasta in our marinara alfredo sauce blend with sauteed pancetta. For a taste of Sicily add capers! Delish! Overall experience was fantastic, they played Pandora, probably Frank Sinatra radio and it was the perfect volume not over powering but could still hear the music. It's an intimate setting and well lit. Didn't have room for dessert so I will have to make sure to save room for our next visit. We are going to make it our regular meet-up place. The ambience, food and especially the service were all top notch! Highly recommend.

The special they served for dinner yesterday was a center cut grilled pork chop with a mushroom sauce and asparagus the waitress asked me how I wanted it cooked I said Huh ? She said rare or medium I said WeLL she said rare again I said WELL. Why would someone eat pork rare? I don't get it pork is pork you eat it with barely pink in it if none. Just my opinion.

Good food good service. Great addition to Moorpark. Went for the second tine on Saturday. The lasagna wasn't as good as the first time. . It was over cooked and a bit dry. I guess I could've and should've asked for more sauce. Anyway the portion size was still awesome. Went for a third time thinking the second time was a fluke. It wasn't. Hm. Won't order the lasagna anymore dang it. Went for the 4th time late May and ordered the spicy sausage rigatoni. Pasta was undercooked and sauce was sweet and almost tasted like BBQ sauce! What is going on there?! I was so impressed the first time. New chef?! Don't think we will go back. Really unfortunate.

My wife and I went here based on a recommendation for our anniversary. We knew it was family owned and ran. It was awesome. I was totally impressed with the sincere concern they had in making sure we enjoyed it - not that there was anything at all to worry about. We encountered about 5 family members and each one was very pleasant. Everybody in the restaurant looked like they were also having a good time. The food was fantastic and large portions (I am wondering if we got the anniversary special). I had the special steak medallions and my wife had the lasagna. The steak was excellent with a blue cheese topping ( or something rich ). I had the lasagna leftover for lunch and it was incredible - just the right amount of sausage. We normally do not go out for pasta because my wife has good skills, but the whole package at this place makes it a worthwhile treat.

This is far and away our favorite Italian restaurant. We had a great experience back in November so we returned tonight. The servers remembered us, made us feel welcomed and at home. And while the service is awesome, the food is even better. Try the Chicken Parm and the Italian Wedding soup! But you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Most important of all, you feel like part of the family here.

The family and I love coming to Geppino's. The staff is great; treating us like part of the family when we are there. The menu is basic but executed extremely well. The chicken marsala is probably my favorite follwed by the chicken parm. We always bring a bottle of wine and the corkage fee is standard and reasonable ($10). Geppinos in the ONLY place in town we get pizza from. The flavor of the crust is great, and the pizza itself is thin and cooked as it should be (not in a pan). A must order is the "Gangster Sicillian"pizza. This place is great for kids as well. They get a pasta dish, pizza and desert (my kids love the spumoni). Save room for desert too...they make their pastry in house. Cannoli is a must have. They taste like the cannoli from back east - love it.

    (4)
  • Ashley S.

Amazing!! Food was so good and fresh. Our waitress was awesome! Brought our own bottle of wine and the corkage fee was only $10. Loved the small family vibe with the family being there at the end of the night. I loved this place! I can't wait to go back!

  • Elizabeth S.

Wasn't impressed. The staff was really nice and took good care of us, but the food wasn't very good at all. Especially for the price! We were disappointed. The chicken Marsala was mushy, salty and the sauce tasted like it was canned. The salad was mediocre and lacking decent Caesar dressing-tasted canned also. My boyfriend got the chicken Parmesan. He said it okay also, but not worth the price. An order of calamari is 10.99 for a half of a "small" plate of it. And the wine tasted like it had been opened the day before. I doubt we'll be back.

Let me start off by saying that the wait staff, the hostess, and all the other staff we encountered went out of their way to make our visit an enjoyable one. They made sure our water never ran out and that our bread basket was never empty. Now for the bad news: the food is not good and wayyy overpriced for what you get. I got the baked ziti, which sounded good on paper, but which had no flavor, barely any sauce, and was a little overcooked to the point of being a bit mushy. I had to ask for an extra side of marinara sauce because the baked ziti was so flavorless, but it turns out the marinara is nothing to write home about either. My friend got the gnocchi, which was gummy and which had a very weird flavor. She did not like the bolognese sauce at all, which was supposed to have "caramelized pancetta". She found like 2 pieces, and no other meat whatsoever. She also thought the capers in the sauce tasted mustard-y instead of pickled, giving the sauce a not so good taste. My other friend got the chicken parmesan, which he said was ok, but not breaded and fried, so therefore a bit soft in texture. The prices were way too high in my opinion. I don't mind paying $15 for a meal, but it better be good. I'm afraid this wasn't the case with Geppino's :-( don't think I will be back.

The atmosphere was amazing, nicely decorated, live music, food was delicious, service was good, the mixed drink was small for the price. Overall a wonderful experience and will definitely be coming back.

Moorpark's best kept hole in the wall secret! Our family decided to visit after a packed BBQ place up the street had too long of wait, and then on a recommendation of an Elite Yelper who had previously reviewed Geppino's. Outside, it doesn't look like much, but inside, the experience was very pleasant! We were seated immediately at a nice table in a corner. Our server was very warm and always smiling! I believe she was the daughter of the owners, who were also front and center the entire night in the restaurant, which is something I definitely respect. We connected well with her, and she always made sure we had our drinks filled and that everyone was going okay. The food was great! We had great Chicken Marsala, and some tasty Fettuccine Alfredo, however the other two pasta dishes (Bolognese was one of them) were different yet looked very similar... and I didn't taste much bolognese in my pasta. We ordered some berry cobbler with ice cream, which I scarfed down. However, the desserts were kept in a display fridge in the front, which sort of took away the homemade freshness feel of the deserts. I definitely disagree with displaying these this way. I felt like I bought a frozen pie from Marie Calendar's, even though it did taste delicious. Just keep them in the back. The restaurant is just celebrating their first anniversary this weekend, so I understand how some of the earlier reviews were so harsh, dealing with a new restaurant and all. However, everything they addressed and didn't like seemed fine when we went. The growth is visible, which is highly appreciable from a customer's perspective, and I wish this restaurant all the best in the years to come! OVERALL: I would come back if in Moorpark again, there's not a lot of restaurants like these. The food is is saturated in taste, and I can see the potential for this young restaurant.

  • Betty S.

The food is top notch, especially the fried rice balls and the chicken parmesan. . The service was really odd though. There was an attractive young waiter there that was over the top flirtatious with the female customers, I am pretty sure I saw him kiss a customer. The old dude that bussed the tables also seemed to smell of whiskey. I'll be back but I hope they take care of the staffing issues.

We live in Moorpark and recently discovered this hidden gem! I am kind of afraid of spreading the word because then they will be packed all the time haha but if you are looking for HOMEMADE authentic Italian food you HAVE to check out this place. Family owned and operated and seriously the best. And to top it off their desserts are to die for..the daughter bakes homemade cupcakes and they seriously melt in your mouth. Great ambiance, great food and GREAT service hands down. (Plus they have a bar area and great wine selection that I will enjoy after my pregnancy LOL) We have reservations for Valentines Day and I cannot wait!!

Specifically called to ask about the menu and portion sizes, and was told they were generous and then some. I've worked in several Italian restaurants from 3 star to 5 star joints, by far the portion sizing was the smallest of anywhere I've worked, or eaten for that matter, especially for the price $15 Called and spoke to a manager that would not refund our dinner, but offered to buy us dinner next time... The food was mediocre and the dinner salad was very poor and didnt appear fresh - I didn't eat it. $15 bucks for a lasagna with No rolls, nope those were a DOLLAR each, and the size of a mini muffin, picture of lasagna and mini rolls to be posted. Disappointed.

Our family of 5 was actually on our way to a different Italian restaurant when we drove by this place and my daughter saw it and thought it looked cute and asked if we could stop. I think it was the only thing open in the strip mall so it really stood out with it's string light decorations and red & green decor. So we made a u-turn to check it out. I am so glad we did! The place is very nicely decorated and they had a table for 5 in the back (the only available table at the time) so we didn't have to wait. The hostess that sat us was very welcoming and told us that her sister was going to be our server. I made a comment about working with your siblings and she proceeded to tell me that they were a family owned business and that everyone who worked there was family. I loved it!!! Her other sister was the pastry chef, her cousin was the cook, Her parents were the owners, etc... Lining the walls of the little alcove where we sat were a bunch of pictures of their family and she pointed out a few significant ones. They made us feel so welcome. The menu had a lot to choose from but we started with the rice balls for an appetizer & they were very good. They also brought us garlic rolls which my kids inhaled and asked for more! My husband and I ordered a bottle of their 3 daughters wine... A cabernet they ale themselves, and it was also very good. We didn't finish it so we got to take the bottle home with us which I appreciated. We ordered a margarita pizza (a nice size, only ate half so took half home), the cheese ravioli (perfect portion), the eggplant parmesan, the caprese salad, and the manicotti. Everyone was happy with their dish and even though we were pretty full we decided to order 3 desserts to share... the butter cake, the cannoli, and the cheesecake. All were delicious but the cannoli was our favorite. My only complaint was the food took a little long to prepare but I didn't mind because i know everything was being prepare fresh for us and it was all so delicious it was worth the wait. The owner came by to check on us and invited us to come try her catering items at an event she was doing next weekend free of charge! We will definitely be back to this little gem and I hope this family business is a success!

This used to be another Italian restaurant we would go to when we got sick of other local places to eat. This new Sicilian restaurant is such a refreshing one. The atmosphere is great, loved the music, my mother-in-law couldn't stop eating the bread and the food was wonderful. The waitress was the owner's daughter and very personable. Overall, it was a great experience. Hope they stick around for a while!

  • Sandy T.

We had an excellent dinner with appetizers and dessert. Everyone was very nice and they explained everything. They use old family recipes from Sicily. All the desserts are made by the daughter every day on the premises. the waitress was very attentive. Ask for the "family table" that is way in the back surrounded by a curtain. All the pictures on the wall here are all family pictures from the great grandparents in Sicily to current family and great grandchildren. We will definitely be back.

Their food is awesome, but the management is so disorganized and irresponsible. Read my previous review for my opinion on their food. Continue reading for feedback on their ability (or lack thereof) to host big dinner parties... My husband and I recently got married, and we wanted to have our rehearsal dinner here. The owner, Fran, was initially really accommodating and assured us that every detail of the evening would be taken care of. My mother-in-law wanted to coordinate directly with her in terms of the menu and pricing. Fran was very inflexible in terms of adding variety to the menu, and insisted on a fixed cost of $20 per person for rolls, appetizers (rice balls), salad, the same entree for everyone (spaghetti & meatballs), and soft drinks. For $20 per person, we wanted more variety in terms of the entree, and Fran just wouldn't have it. If you go in for a regular dinner, they charge $13 for salad, rolls, and entree. They were charging us $7 extra for maybe 2 rice balls + drink per person..would've been a better deal for all 20 of us to just show up and have dinner without telling them in advance. To top things off, as the rehearsal dinner date approached, and as my mother-in-law was working hard to get in contact with Fran, Fran never answered emails nor answered phone calls. It turns out she had gone on vacation "assuming" we had pinned all the details down. We ended up not having our rehearsal dinner due to the lack of flexibility and accommodating attitude, disorganized management, and poor service. We went to Viva La Pasta in Moorpark, and they were fantastically accommodating for our rehearsal dinner and made it a blast. See my review on their site for further details. FYI, if you just want to come here for a small meal for 2-4 people, it's great. The food is tasty and the environment is nice. A note to Fran -- you really should learn how to be more responsive and accommodating, especially for big opportunities like a rehearsal dinner, where you could get more revenue and business exposure.

The food is tasty. In no way does it ever deserve a one star review. Please DISREGARD that review. Their sausage and meatballs are great. My pizza which was $8 was great and plenty big for the price. The only thing I would comment about on pricing is $6 for a coors light bottle and $7-8 for import bottled beer. A little high for small a place like this. The place is family owned and operated and they are friendly. We will be back plenty!

We had our rehearsal dinner here last month and our guests are still talking about the food! The lasagna and rolls are delicious and the desserts are out of this world. Try the butter cake (sounds kind of gross but I can assure you it is amazing). But even more impressive than the food is the family that owns and operates the restaurant. They are warm and hospitable and make you feel like family. This place is definitely a favorite!

Great place! It's a favorite now. The service could not be better. The rolls are to die for. Every dish and appetizer we have had was very good. Nice wine choices..Oh, don't forget the pumpkin cupcake that was excellent.

After reading the reviews about this place I can relate, I just happened to find this place by accident, I had been going to Two Guys ever since I moved to Moorpark 12 years ago. Two Guys was not that pretty to look at, but who cares it had Great Pizza and Italian/German food and good German food is very hard to find. So I decided to give Sicilian Kitchen a try. Big mistake, the restaurant looked very nice though so I felt reasonably good about trying it. I ordered 5 Specialty Pizzas for more than a $100.00 dollars Now on many occasions I have made home made Pizza and even with milk based cheese (the best kind) and (premiums toppings) It could not have cost more than $8.00 for the Sicilian Kitchen to make a Pizza, if that. I noticed another review about the Pizza that the toppings were sparse and that my same reaction. The toppings (the best part) were few and far between and you could see the tomato sauce through the cheese but besides that it was GREAT. (MAJOR SARCASM) I noticed on some of the other reviews about the portion sizes being small and they charge a $1.00 per roll, seriously? Maybe they should promote their business as a French Restaurant instead. Are you kidding me? $1.00 for a Garlic Roll, no one charges you for bread at an Italian restaurant. That's like charging for Chips and Salsa at a sit down Mexican Restaurant LOL. In the Conejo Valley alone and the surrounding areas there are over 20 good Italian Restaurant's and you don't even have to go that far. There are 3 very good ones alone in Moorpark within two miles of each other. I don't know if the owners of this place have ever been in the Restaurant Business before, because for what they charge you and what you receive it's very obvious that this place is going for pure profit. Just because a place looks nice inside and out doesn't mean it's any good. I am definitely never going back to this place, and I will let all my friends know about this place. They already got my money once and my time, and I will not give them the opportunity to do it again and I will be dammed if I would ever pay $1.00 for a Garlic Roll. Good luck Sicilian Kitchen like most small business that fail, you will not last 2 years and that is being charitable.

My wife and I eat here frequently and the food is always 4 or 5 star worthy. I've enjoyed the Pizza (Mobster is my favorite) lasagna, and several of the other pasta dishes. My wife loves the Carbanera and had an amazing Steak this week. The service is always 6 stars or better. It's a family owned and run restaurant and they really care!

The last time we were here was when it was 2-Guys. Never liked the decor much then and thought the food was "respectable". We did not realize the restaurant was sold until we arrived this evening. We love the decor of Geppino's! A delightful surprise from the red and white checkered floors of the past. Ashley, one of the owners daughters, was wonderful and provided excellent service. She brought a second round of piping hot rolls and gave her suggestions on the menu. Nice selection of wines too! I did order the Chicken Marsala and found it to be the best I ever had! Chicken was tender, the garlic mashed potatoes hot and creamy, the grilled vegetables wonderful. I did read the other comments on this dish, but I have to say, mine was perfect! My friend ordered a spicy pasta dish and felt perhaps the sauce was too sweet, but the decor and service was excellent and she agreed, my dish was perfect. We are both coming back again to order the Chicken Marsala.

I'm really not sure about those that gave 2 or 1 star, they must eat portions for 10 or not get out of Moorpark much. However, this restaurant came as a recommendation! We are at the former tenants restaurant "Two Guys From Italy" which was if you are not Italian and do not eat and anything less than a 2 star restaurant and are fine with food out of a can was horrible! So, when we tried Peppino's we were MORE than pleasantly surprised. We have a big Italian family and not only were portions size perfect, but taste, presentation, service, menu & wine selection were great! We like the updated look a nice change to Moorpark! However, for those bashing go eat at Cafe Firenze, then give me your opinion! That place is horrible and a rip-off if you're talking portion and price! Moorpark needed a Peppino's! You won't be sorry!!!! This place is great!!! We will certainly be back.

I'm not sure what's up with the one star reviews..we love this place. We used to go to Two Guys, which was very mediocre and had decided not to eat there anymore. Well, we were in the area and hubby talked me into going there for one last try. On auto pilot, we drove up, parked and went in.. not even realizing it was a different restaurant until we looked around. We decided to give this new restaurant a try... SOOOO glad we did! The owner Fran is very friendly, and I believe they have other family working there as well. The quality of the food is excellent and it is decorated very nicely, unlike the previous red and white (kind of like In'n'Out Burger) décor of the previous restaurant. We have now been there several times and have not had a bad meal. I also think the portions are perfect and we often don't finish our plates and the staff is always friendly. Give Peppino's Sicilian Kitchen a try, you won't be disappointed!

A great step up from Two Guys. The menu has everything from veal parmesan to pizza. Try Franny's carbonara. All of the dishes use the freshest ingredients, right down to the lettuce and peas. The cream puff filled with the perfect cream filling. Geeez I get hungry thinking about it. The icing on the cake it's owned and run by a local family that by the end of the evening makes you feel like you're family.

Overall the food has pretty good taste. The workers and owner are super nice and friendly. Service is good. My only problem is that for the prices you are paying you don't get enough food. Portions need to be substantially bigger to reflect the prices they charge. There is a lot of competition in the immediate 10 mile radius on Italian food. I highly recommend they figure out their price/quantity ratio. 2.5 stars out of 5.

SO happy that Fran was open on the 4th of July! We had the specials and loved them! Butternut squash ravioli and ribeye wrapped on bacon on skewers... Cooked to perfection! Service was wonderful and the beer and wine that were recommended we're awesome! We ended our meal with the cream puffs and cannoli. Love that they are homemade!! We'll be back to try more things soon!

What a change for the WORSE! Had Franny's Carbonara, no egg, overcooked pasta...you don't mess with a classic. Very short pour for a $10 glass of wine!!! My husband had lasagna, tiny serving. Used to go to Two Guys often, won't be back to this disappointment.

I found this restaurant because I was a frequent patron of "Two Guys." I called for takeout and was informed that this was a new restaurant with new owners, so I figured I'd give it a try. When I've placed my order in the past, Chicken Parmesan, I normally substitute the pasta that comes with it for Fettuccine Alfredo. In this case I was never told it came with pasta. I asked about the Fettuccine Alfredo and said that I normally get them together. I was told "Two Guy"s have a different menu than us, we have a new menu and we don't offer it that way". I was disappointed the substitution was not offered as an option. When I received my order, lo and behold, there was pasta with it, that could have easily been substituted to keep a customer happy. The food was way overpriced, and there was little of it, so that was extremely disappointing, I felt they were simply trying to make an extra buck by having me order an additional entree. Not happy, plus the pasta sauces were thick and tasteless. Overall, the food was extremely mediocre, and I am accustomed to a friendly and enthusiastic greeting, which this time around, I didn't receive. I will not be returning!

Decided not to eat my "Franny's Carbonara" to write a review and warn my fellow Yelpers from Moorpark. Decided to try this place in lieu of our handful of Italian joints we normally go to.....shame on me...... As a restaurant, if you are going to charge $15.00-$20.00 per plate, serve rolls, and a fresh, cold salad....don't serve portions that you should be charging $8.99 for.... Don't do what Peppinos Cucina / Sicilian Kitchen does.....The salad was wilted, warm, and 2 rolls, the size of those mini biscuits you buy in the frozen isle, you know, the ones next to the cookies and cinnamon rolls, well, they cost $2.00 at this joint. Pasta was over cooked and squishy, and well, I was best buying a box of pasta and boiling it here at the house. WARNING! Go elsewhere.....

We got take-out; a pizza and side salads. We asked for Italian dressing, but got ranch. Pizza had a fair amount of cheese, but the other requested toppings were very sparse. Each pizza slice had one slice of pepperoni, one piece of mushroom and one small chunk of tomato. The dining room looked nice. Food was just okay.

The only reason I'm giving this place two stars instead of one is because my kids liked the rolls. Good thing, too because everything else was not very good. We were also great fans of the old Two Guys restaurant. It was our go to when we wanted a friendly Italian/German meal. Loved that place. We had to give the new spot a try.....big mistake. The service was bad. The place was full and obviously the kitchen couldn't keep up. The calamari appetizer was minuscule and dry and cold. The pizza toppings were sparse, and my 8 yr old announced to the table that the dough tasted like Trader Joes. The pasta carbonara tasted like orange juice and was really gummy. My chicken Marsala had a weird spongy texture. out of our party of 8, no one liked their food. it just wasn't good and the portions are small and the prices large. We won't be back. We miss you Two Guys!!!! :(

The food was great and the service was outstanding. We found this place because the owner's husband repaired our pool heater (he has another business) and he told us about the place. We had the oysters and pizza as appetizers and split the Chicken Picatta for our entree. That evening they had a berry cobbler that was delicious. We are sure to return.

The food was ok, but they serve childrens portions and charge 5 star restaurant prices. Fran is really nice, but when we ordered our food we were given a lecture by the manager (who happens to be one of her daughters) who proceeded to tell me that they have decided that the portions they serve are appropriate. They sell appetizer size food and greatly overcharge. As other reviewers this was a GREAT disappointment and we will try to other italian restaurant over by the baskin robins (right down the street by the theatre). Their prices are the same, the food is really, really good and at least when you leave you don't start thinking about what you are going to have for dinner. Very disappointing. The ambiance is really nice, but for sometime to make generalized decisions on how much food should be served and the costs should be made by someone who actually knows the industry. Our party of 4 were not expecting a feast, but at least not charged for each roll, when we order soup, we expected a bowl of soup not a childs portion of a cup of soup. Strongly suggest you look at other places who have prices that actually match the quality and quantity of food. As the rest of our neighborhood have been writing reviews, you should consider this and look elsewhere. Might be a longer drive, but it would be well worth the cost and you won't walk out hungry. Maybe they decided the appropriate food portions based on people who really want some appetizers.

This was our 1st time dining @ Geppino's & it was wonderful! For starters, the interior decor is very well done, so warm & inviting. All of the staff (family owned & operated) were friendly, fun & very accomodating. My husband loved the Cabernet Carnivore & I loved my gluten free veggie pizza! The sauce & crust were amazing! Thank you to the owner & our server Brianna who made our experience very special. Top nouch restaurant. We will definitely be back!

Not that impressed. Let me begin by saying I am half Italian and brought up in an Italian family. However, this does not make me an expert by any means. Disclaimer done. Nice ambiance, music and decor are really cool. The wait staff is young and inexperienced. I cannot understand for the life of me why they refill the ice tea in the back room, rather than bring it to the table? In addition I had no ice in my glass other than the first glass which melted in my first consumption. Ordered the bruchetta. It was OK. Could have had a bit more garlic and the bread they used was pre-sliced and seemed to make the presentation kinda cheesy. Next was the salad. A green salad with blue cheese. I only mention this because the waitress and the owner had to come by and ask me how I liked the salad. Really? My entree was the chicken Marsala. Two pieces of thick chicken. The two pieces should have been butterflied. They were too thick and were dry and did not take advantage if the Marsala sauce. Not enough wine in the Marsala but it was still tasty. The wife ordered lasagna and for the price it was small. The sauce was excellent and reminded me of my grandmothers as it had a hint of sweetness to offset the acidic tomato. Side note to all budding waiters and waitresses please don't bring the pizza cutter from the kitchen to the customer to cut the pizza that was delivered to the table. Especially when the customer complained his pizza was not cut. Why not take it to the kitchen re cut it and then bring it back out? The owners husband saw this happening and promptly did just that, but come on. This place could benefit from a good waiter to train these other waiters. I had room for dessert, as my meal plus appetizer and salad left me a bit hungry still. The cannoli and cream puffs are on order and they are made by the owners mother. Cannoli and cream puffs come out and delivered. Oh, they look so good. Guess what? No silver ware. Crap, now I have to stare at them while someone goes to get me some silver wear. Mind you the Restaurant is slow and not busy. Back to the dessert. UNBELIEVABLE! Cannoli is crispy, the ricotta filling is exactly how my grand mother made it. Not too sweet and perfect! The cream puffs just as yummy. They saved the day. Not a slam in the Restaurant. I need it to succeed. Consider this free advice from a non expert. I will be back as it is in my hood. They need a nice portrait of tony soprano to go with the godfather painting as well.

It's always a pleasure to have a good meal at a favorite place. We invited some friends to dine with us, it was their first time at Geppinos. They were very glad we had introduced them to this fine establishment. We again had a great dinner, the service was great. We probably overstayed our welcome, but the atmosphere is so friendly we did stay for two hours after dinner talking. Thanks for not kicking us out.

Fantastic is the only word to describe my experience at Peppino's. The food is great, some of the best italian I have had. The best part is the family that owns and runs the restaurant. They all are involved from the parents, kids and even the grandparents. Absolutely worth checking out. I know we will be back many times in the future.

I've been twice for dinner now and once for lunch. Overall I love it. Yeah its brand new and so with that you don't have a well oiled machine, yet. But the food is fantastic, I fine dine 3 nights a week and the quality of their food is up there with a $50 plate! Prices are VERY reasonable at $15-$20. Everyone is friendly and this place will only get better and better as they dial things in. Great atmosphere and decor. I also like the fact that you order gluten free pasta and make adaptations to the items if you eat really healthy as I do. This is hands down the best place in Moorpark to dine at, I love the fact that its family run, you really feel like its your place after a few visits. Enjoy Yelpers!!!

We were really disappointed to hear about Two Guys closing. We loved that place (mainly for the German Food) and were apprehensive about trying the new place, but were pleasantly surprise by the great (authentic) Italian Style pizza and entrees. We will be back. Welcome to Moorpark!

the few times I have eaten here I have loved everything I've had. great food & have been fine with the portions. however, the hours & organization is unheard of. my roommate & I have tried SIX times in the last few weeks to enjoy their food & have been denied by absurd hours & a ridiculously limited lunch menu that the staff seems to know nothing about. I would love to enjoy it more often, but if they don't work this out, I don't know how this business can last. 4/5 stars for the food, 2 stars for overall business comprehension.

The food and service here was good. The ambience was really great. The only reason I marked this place down was because the eggplant I ordered was a little bit underdone. Other than that everything was great. I will definitely be coming back.

They need to fix their portion sizes or drop their prices. As compared to other Italian places in the area you get about 1/2 the portion of the other places. Save your money and go somewhere else until they fix this issue.

Loving this place, you MUST save room for the Cannolis and cream puffs, fresh made by the owners grandmother daily! Oh my! Whole menu is impressive. Dined with a Sicilian tonight and she was IMPRESSED

I liked Two Guys From Italy better...that's the restaurant that Geppino's replaced. When we looked at the website to order our takeout dinner, it looked promising. When my husband walked into Geppino's to pickup our order, it was revamped and looked nice. The trouble started when he got home and we started to see what was in the takeout boxes. Our pastas came with a side salad...one of the salads had anchovies all over mixed greens. Gross. I ordered Pasta Primavera. Small portion, drenched in oil and no taste. My husband ordered a sausage pasta dish. Again, small portion and half a sausage. We ordered a penne pasta with butter for my son. We asked for a kid portion and for sure that's what they gave us...but for 8 bucks! We had asked if bread would accompany our dinners. The answer was yes over the phone, but I never saw any bread. Eaten here once, but not again. This place will go out of business just like the last place...but I'd prefer the last place over this one. Save your money.

Wow! Had my dear friend Lauren's Birthday Dinner here Saturday night, party of 10 and I will definitely be back. The food was excellent, the kitchen was a bit slow getting the dishes out but in their defense the place was slammed, (Always a good sign). The Service was excellent! Thank you Fran, Bree & Joe. Fran is the beautiful owner and she not only greeted us at the door but was at every table in the place at least twice for the personal touch, which I very much appreciate, Bree, one of Fran's daughters, was our Waitress and she is a blast, she took excellent care of us. Before the night was through I'd met Joe, Fran's husband and I gotta say, the whole experience was as if this place was in my own neighborhood, I was a steady regular and was related to the family who owns and operates this fine Sicilian Kitchen. I enjoyed my food and my evening but the personal connection with Family is what brought the experience home and made me feel like going back to visit Family for some more relaxed Fine Sicilian Dining.

This place is far to slow and $$$$$ for lunch. People enjoyed it far more when it was 2 guys. We were told that when it reopen they would still have a buffet, but no. I wish the owners good luck but I bet they won't be here next year this time..........

Wonderful! I have already been 2 times and am anxious to go back. The ambiance is the best part. Like other reviewers say, it is very family run. Our first time there, the daughter seated us and explained everything from why they chose the color scheme to the menu and pointed out her dad and grandparents at the Godfather table. It's a perfect upgrade from the previous restaurant (2 Guys from Italy). My first time, I had the Penne Sweet Marinara with grilled chicken. Literally my only complaint was that the chicken was a little overcooked, but not burnt, but a tad over done. I work at a restaurant that is known for their garlic rolls, and these trumped them! They keep the bread coming! The sauce was perfectly sweet/acidic and the pasta was perfectly cooked. We started with a salad and it was a good portion that didn't fill you up. the music was light and appropriate for an Italian restaurant. I truly liked the fact that it's family run for the most part. Yes, the servers are new but they are learning! The owner got her start with caterings and having booths at local fairs. It's their first restaurant and their baby. The 2nd time we were there, I had the Chicken Piccata. Another great recipe, but the chicken was still over cooked. I HATE to complain but told the owners husband when he came by to check on us. They were EXTREMELY grateful for the constructive criticism. This place us awesome and they want to do well. I truly hope they succeed!!

My husband and I came to Peppino's to check out the new place in town everyone was raving about. Sometimes when you hear about a place that everyone is saying is so good, you go and then you are disappointed. Not the case here at Peppino's, we were very happy with everything. The atmosphere is great and the decor was very tastefully done. The owners came to our table and introduced themselves, both were very nice and were very interested in our feed back on what we thought about the restaurant and our meal. My husband had a Pasta Dish with Shrimp (sorry I forget the name ) and I had the Chicken Parmesan, both were really good. We had rolls and a salad along with some wine also, which were all very tasty. If all that was not enough, the pretty owner came back to our table with their special homemade Cream Puffs for us to try. They were excellent, and I so enjoyed every bite! We will definitely be returning to Peppino's in Moorpark.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
