Overpriced! I have to say that my fish plate was fresh and decently prepared, however, I feel that for 3 oz of fish with veggies, $15 is just overpriced. I think that the hype may be causing an ill effect on this place!

Fresh halibut tacos!! Awesome! How can anyone dog this place?? Only open like 11-3 so you gotta be quick. Line gets long, but all well worth the wait. Cool little garden area to sit and eat your tacos. I will be back! Guy Fieri was here, so that's gotta count for something...

Long line. Long wait. Pricey. Damn good food. Worth the wait but get there early or have patience to handle the line. I will be back.

Haggo's cozy atmosphere is the perfect embodiment of the warmth and creativity of Leucadia. The enclosed patio feels like an eccentric sculptor's backyard. They even feature a fountain made from a re-purposed rubber garbage bin. I had fish tacos, which I believe is their specialty, with side of perfectly sauteed veggies. Delicious. I was so impressed, I bought a t-shirt.

Oh man, where to start. How about 'Best Tacos in California'. I'd say that sums it up for me. Ok, so I know you need more than that... Right on Hwy 101, Haggo's doesn't look like much hidden in the corner of a parking lot, but behind the wood fence an artwork lies a kitchen that clearly places more importance on quality rather than quantity. Most weekend days the food will sell out around 1:30, so you have to get there early. The seating is all outdoors with a couple of shade umbrellas. The fish tacos are the highlight of the menu, followed by the garden tacos. Both are served with a side of organic brown rice and beans. So good. My only complaint is that since being featured on the Good Network, I have a tough time getting there early enough to get served.

Great Food but get there early as they are PRONE to sell out by 2pm or earlier! LOVED the simplicity of the place.. the water fountain says it all. At the heart of this place its ORGANIC, GRASS FED, FRESH, MADE WITH LOVE... . Remember to EAT YOUR FOOD mindfully and slowly. Here are the benefits of eating at HAGGO's Reduced over eating. It's been a while now since I went back to work or to bed feeling bloated and over stuffed. Which is great in itself but also means that my 'muffin top' is pretty much gone when I wear my favorite jeans. As a food scientist and Vitamix Demostrator, (aka The Spinachman) I've always considered myself a big fan of eating. Now that I'm on the path to mastering the art of mindful eating, I am finding a new found respect for food and am gaining far more pleasure from meal times. Improved digestion. Digestion begins BEFORE you put food in your mouth.. why, because the food you eat needs to be symbiotic for you, Organic and right for your body not someone elses then once you eat digestion happens in the mouth with the action of saliva. If food isn't chewed properly it means that there's more work for the rest of your digestion system. I may be imagining this, but I think I've also noticed I have less gas now that I'm eating mindfully and slowly so I don't need as MUCH FOOD. Being satisfied with less. Linked with reduced over eating, the real benefit here at Haggo's and many other places you will visit is being able to trust yourself to feel satisfied after a smaller portioned meal.. Or, say, one or two squares of chocolate so there is no temptation to scoff the whole block. Suddenly there's no need to deny yourself the occasional treat which makes for a far healthier relationship with food. Ready to change the way you interact with food? It starts here... when you dine at Haggo's take the SLOW FOOD approach and Focus on each mouthful. Think about the flavour, texture and even the sound of the food in your mouth. Focus on how much you like, or dislike these sensations. Chew. While it can be overkill to go to the monastic extreme of 100 bites per mouthful, make sure you chew your food enough so that it is well broken down before you swallow... Sorry I got a bit carried away Ps. How about some organic tortilla chips Kelly Leeks!

Haggo's Organic Taco is a great local joint using locally organic ingredients. However, their portion sizes are way too small for the amount they charge. The flavor in their foods are lackluster and honestly, I have experienced better. I left feeling cheated and hungry. Sorry.

This charming, uber healthy little gem begs me to revisit soon! The fresh tacos, grilled perfectly melt in your mouth! Within seconds, it was gone and I begged for more! I cannot explain the mix of eclectic positioning, food truck atmosphere all tucked into the cutest little spot. Just go, now!

Food truck slash restaurant serving up addictive organic tacos with highest marks going to the "catch of the day" fish version. Bright, shiny fresh food that hits the spot every time. My only reason for 4 stars is that *they run of out food* frequently before closing at 3pm. I completely understand that one of the reasons it's so fresh is because they don't over order and serve up leftovers but after a 30 minute drive and a long wait in line, it hurts! Try you luck, if you get the grub, it's well worth it.

We were heading back down to San Diego after a short camping trip at South Carlsbad State Beach. This place is just about 2 miles away so it was super convenient. Don't come here super hungry though - High quality food takes time. I waited 15 minutes for our lunch to be served. Everyone here seemed to be okay with the wait, so I figured the food was well worth it. I can tell the ingredients are fresh and top notch in terms of quality. The marinated pollo and carne asada were delicious. Corn tortillas were delicate and perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I'm giving this place 3 stars because (1) the veggie burrito was bland, (2) portions are small, and (3) the salsa was bland and watery. If this place can improve their salsa and add a little more salt to their dishes, I'd bump this up for 4 stars. Get the portions right and drop prices to make them more comparable to other organic slow food restaurants in the area, and I'd give it 5 stars. That said, this place is still worth checking out. A gem in the making.

This is my favorite place in Encinitas. Everything tastes fresh and healthy. The tacos are delicious and super flavorful. I love the veggie taco and I'm not a vegetarian so that is unusual for me. :) It is a little food truck with a garden seating area. They close when they run out of food so that is sometime late or early in the afternoon depending upon the crowd. It is not the fastest so if there is a line, you will be hanging out for awhile. Also, there is a not bathroom here so come prepared. :)

I love, love, LOVE Haggo's Tacos as a local dive. If you're near Leucadia, you should 100% go here for lunch. You'll love it! And it's a perfect representation of this little beach town. Haggo's Organic Tacos is virtually a food truck with a fancy seating area. It's only open for 4 hours, 6 days a week. The seating is all outside and it's a small area, so only plan on coming by yourself or with one other person. All of their products are -- you guessed it! -- organic. This place has served me the best fish tacos I've ever had. Yes, they are a bit pricier than other places. And yes, you can find another Mexican restaurant that may serve you larger portion sizes. But why would you want a larger portion of tacos that aren't as good? You wouldn't. Once you taste these tacos, you'll understand. Go here. Love it. Buy a shirt! And eat great food.

Outstanding fish tacos and other delicious and fresh options. It has a neat tiny-but-cozy courtyard next to it. I always glanced over this place due to it's "vegetarian" categorization, but it's not solely vegetarian and it's serving up some of the best food in NoCo.

  • SoCal G.

In my opinion, the best tacos in the area and considering there are taco shops on every corner, that says a lot! Loved the chicken tacos and the beans were fantastic. Whatever is in the cream stuff is crazy good. Will definitely be back. Tomorrow??!!! Next time will try the vegetable tacos.

I would give Haggo's a million stars if I could. As so many have said, Seriously the BEST FISH TACOS EVER! Even better than Georges on the Cove in La Jolla - Hands down! Coming here makes my day. Every bite is perfection and even better all ORGANIC! I love that the owner is passionate about REAL food meaning Organic which also means nonGMO.

I am not generally one to endorse the healthy or green food. Because for the most part my favorites are bread, meat and cheese (I am a simple man). Haggo's however will be an exception. I got the carne asada taco's and they were solid. Well seasoned, well cooked. Grass fed beef is always a little tougher, but they did a great job prepping it. The taco's were served with brown rice and beans, which aren't really my thing... but I cleaned my plate and my wife who is a brown rice fan thought they were awesome. What I really like about Haggo's is that I can fulfill a post-surf Mexican food craving without having to stop somewhere else to get something healthy for my wife. Next time I am going to try a burrito. The location itself is also pretty darn cool. You can tell the owners put their own creativity and time into creating a space that they really care about. Speaking of the owners/staff... Everyone working at Haggo's was really really nice and helpful. We will be back.

Great place to grab a quick tasty taco. We really enjoyed this place. Great friendly service. Even recommended a good beach. I'm a hardcore carnivore and I would recommend their garden taco.

I've been hearing about Haggo's from our neighbors for the past six months, how great the food is and how fresh. My hubby and I decided to check it out on a beautiful day after the beach. We were excited to try these tacos that are supposedly the best in town. We waited in line for awhile, this is definitely slow food. Which is okay, since you can tell the owners believe in taking their time, and this guarantees a quality product. The patio outside is pretty adorable. We both ordered the fish tacos (catch of the day). They were good, fresh, and the ingredients were quality. But here's the thing - they were pretty expensive and something that we make on the regular at home, and nothing was outstanding about them. The mango salsa is a nice touch, but my then again my hubby usually cuts up mango when we prepare ours at home. We won't be back, mostly because of the price and fairly ordinary taste. We prefer the baja style fish tacos at the Solana's Beach farmer's market.

We enjoyed our lunch. I had the halibut fish tacos and my sister had the garden variety taco plate. Both were excellent. Only thing I would change is the rice, due to its lack of flavor. Thank you haggos!

  • Cathleen F.

First trip to Haggo's "Organic" taco's, I ordered the Veggie tacos, loaded with fresh avocado, yummy! My companion ordered the fish taco's Halibut smothered in fresh mango! Both were excellent, although on the expensive side $4.50 a taco. I ordered a side or brown rice and beans. Both were a little bland and probably wouldn't order them again. I would also like to see a selection of salsa's, we did get a hot sauce with our order. All in All would come back again!

  • Simon H.

Ok food, nothing that special. Expensive for what you actually get ,I know it's organic but I could eat at a restaurant for the same price. Nice place though and nice people, just not worth the prices, I will try again though.

I went here with a group of coworkers. We had a lot of trouble finding the place because it does not have its own house number or unit number. There is also inadequate parking though we were fortunate enough to find a nearby parking spot on a street. The food is very expensive and the portions are not big. Furthermore, they claim to provide red beans but when I got my food, the beans were not actually red beans so I couldn't eat them due to a food allergy. Finally, we had to order our food to go because there was nowhere to sit until we were about to leave for the office. This is probably a hint that their service is slow because it took so long that enough other diners had left to make space for us.

My husband and I have been wanting to try this place forever and finally got the chance today. We drove all the way from Hemet to eat here and hang out at the beach. Haggo's did not dissapoint, we loved it. The food was fresh, yummy, and we were completely satisfied with our Cousteau plates. The atmosphere was quaint, we liked everything about it. I saw this place featured on Diner's, Drive Inn's and Dives and had to give it a whirl. We left Happy Happy Happy :) Thank you for a delicious lunch!

  • Tai N.

Very, very expensive tacos, for mediocre quality, our tacos were really dry. Interesting little shop but don't expect anything authentic here and I mean nothing. Amazing that all the high ratings...guess people are caught up in the hype, lets face it its food coming out of a food truck not Wolfgang Puck's kitchen. You are paying 10x the price compared to a local taco shop, you should get 10x the quality.

  • Jed W.

This is, quite possibly, the lamest taqueria I've ever been to. Actually, scratch that. This place doesn't even deserve to be called a taqueria. I got a steak quesadilla for $11 and for that price I expect something with some heft to it, something that has more meat in it then your average taco. Something that isn't going to leave me hungry, grouchy, and writing negative things on yelp. Instead I got a slightly stale tortilla with about $0.50 worth of cheese and a couple sad and lonely little tiny pieces of steak. Easily the most pathetic quesadilla I've ever encountered. Seriously, I feel like someone just picked my pocket. Not cool. I won't be back.

I had a day to drive around and explore the coastline, and after spending a couple hours doing that, my stomach started to rumble. I wanted to get lunch somewhere healthy and delicious, and not super crowded. Looking on Yelp, I found Haggo's, and am SO glad I did! Organic (non-GMO) corn tortillas, delicious guacamole, and organic carne asada. Everything was sooo good!! I drove past it at first and had to turn around, so here's a tip: When you get just north of town, slow down and look to your left (ocean side of the street) for it. It's a small place next to a bunch of animal-related businesses.

Delicious, cool, friendly, and healthy. I wish I would have checked out Haggo's a long time ago, but I plan to become a fast regular. The food was outstanding--extremely fresh and flavorful. The small courtyard is a really nice environment for a casual lunch, and they even have some tiny chairs and a miniature table for the kiddos. Despite the well-deserved five star rating, there IS a little room for improvement. After devouring our plates of fish tacos, my wife and I decided to order a veggie quesadilla (partially because the portions on our taco plates didn't fill us up, and partially because the food was just so darned tasty). The vegetables were as fresh and delicious as a vegetables can be and their organic sharp cheddar cheese is truly something special. The quesadilla came partitioned into quarters, and unfortunately, one of them was completely devoid of filling. Being the swell guy I am, I took the faulty 'dilla so my wife didn't have to suffer the effects of uneven veggie distribution. Prices are high (especially considering the portions), but justified by the quality of the food. Hours of operation are limited, so get there before 3:00pm!

The carne asada tacos are amyyyyazing! They have blue cheese and carmalized onions on them, and they're delish. The fish tacos are also really good, and they have a great white sauce. It's outside seating so don't go on a raining day (not like SD really has those). The only bad thing is that they have weird hours so make sure you look up when they are open before you plan a trip there.

Most incredible taco stand i have ever been to. Organic too!! I have gone here on many occasions. I recently got the Baxter burrito and decided that is my all time favorite. Very reasonably priced. Extremely comfortable atmosphere. The music and decor are great. Will definitely go back!

Delicious - I had a beef burrito (the Ron Burgandy) - the best and most flavorful one I'd ever had. The cream sauce inside - well, my mouth waters writing about it, thinking about it. It would be five star but the rice and beans that came with it were boring. A very solid, fun, interesting place.

So delicious! So fresh! Organic, gmo free, and GF-friendly!! Love the backyard seating vibe with cool art and mini garden.. My new go to lunch spot! And did I mention.. Good on the wallet?! Love love LOVE!

By far the tastiest chicken and carne asada tacos I've ever had! The pinto beans are pretty good too. The rice was plain. I will definitely be back :-)

All I can say is WOW... they have the BEST Carne Asada tacos on the planet. Being born and raised in SD and having gone to Mexico countless times, I can truly tell say this without hesitating. The fish taco was great too....

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE. I love Mexican food, but frequently feel bogged down once I eat such grease. This never happens at this place! Its all organic and feels as though you are eating farmers market quality produce/meats. This is the perfect place for an early lunch, and I love the environment here. The seating areas are so cute (even a little fountain). It is a taco stand, which always makes me giggle. It definitely is a health-nut favorite, you typically hear people talking about different health recipes, meditation, etc. while you're here. If me and my boyfriend ever go to the beach up in Encitinas we ALWAYS stop here. Just writing this review made my mouth water....

  • Jon S.

Ordered the halibut taco plate and burrito plate. Not sure the reason that neither rice or beans were seasoned. Both plates required too much user seasoning to be acceptable. We are low sodium people so our perspective is neither had a bit of salt. The fish was over cooked.

My fiancee and I first walked into Haggo's and saw Haggo looked familiar. Oh Yeah, they surfed togerther back in the day... Haggo's greatly contributes to the cool funkiness of Leucadia's vibe. Love his artistic resourcefulness in creating the tiny but unique garden setting that respects the memory of Cousteau. Don't come having expectations of being at a regular taco shop. The food is organic, healthy, good quality, fresh and dee-lish. He and staff are always friendly and welcoming. We live very close and during lunchtime see lines of people out the gate waiting to order. Its a good find on the 101.

  • Kate L.

Addicted to this place. So tasty, healthy and a very cool vibe. Its a hidden gem in the heart of Leucadia. I have only had the fish tacos with rice and beans, but its the best fish taco in San Diego!!! Friendly staff and a great little patio. I am sure the word is getting out about this place and it will be a busy summer stop..... Love love love it!

  • Kristina C.

Definitely overpriced but more so the service is so slow especially at peak lunch hour. got the carne asada taco that people seem to rave about and the meat was dry. Also got the fish taco special and it was better but still not amazing - the homemade salsa on top of the taco was good but overall not very tasty especially considering the price and the time

Pretty fantastic. I had a fish taco and a steak taco. I love this little food truck shack and the decor.

  • Steve C.

Very disappointed. Service: bland and slow. 15 minutes for two tacos and they weren't busy. Atmosphere: dead or dying plants Food: overpriced for its near non-existence. 3.95 for an ala cart taco with near zero chicken in it. Can't believe a place like this is in business. Maybe it's the word organic that people like. That would be fine if there was some weight to it.

I love the option to eat healthy and organic! This place is a cool little find, hidden next to The Flower Lady. Went here with my kid and she gave her chicken burrito a trumbs-up. I had the fish burrito, excellent. Price was a little steep, I think I paid over $30 for an adult and a kid to have lunch, but if you've got the dough this is a great place to chow down. Plenty of parking a cool, eclectic yard with random pieces, thus the random location.

Since I was in California visiting my Mom, I had to check this place out after seeing it on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Somehow it had seemed bigger on the show; I was surprised to see what appeared to be a single-wide mobile home surrounded by a fence with a very long line of hungry people. There was just one woman taking orders through a window, so it took a while to get our order in. I ordered a fish taco plate and a beef taco plate so that my husband and I could split them and have one of each taco. I love that the food is so fresh and organic. My husband didn't care for the beef tacos because of the vinegary dressing on them. It's a matter of taste, because I enjoyed the dressing, so if you like vinegar, you should like it. He loved the fish tacos, though. That mango salsa was great, and we enjoyed the rice and beans sides as well. Unfortunately, there is hardly any seating, so you have to wait for a table or take it to go. They also have short hours for being open. The prices are steep for the amount of food that you get, but I would still come back.

Great decor, ambiance, menu, great cuts of fish. We swung by early this past weekend since the website stated they close early sometimes due to popularity/running out of fish. There is a cute chalkboard out front where they update how many people have been served and how many servings they anticipate having left. Tacos might be a little pricy, but I anticipate the cost will come down as they (if they) scale.

  • Gena L.

So I walk up to haggo's and I think to myself I don't even care if the food is good because this place is so cool. It wreaks of ambience from the second you roll up. It seems to be what a great taco truck would evolve into in a hip beach town. Love the gravelled courtyard and the mini tables. Love everything here! now lets talk food. Presentation is nice, and all the selections sound amazing but overall I have to say for 2 lunch plates at $23 the food was just meh. It was unique and organic which I appreciate but it was far from the hype. I feel the food for originality and health value is between a 3 and a 4 but originality, ambience and organic value I'm going to give it a solid 4.

I love this place!!! Best food, best service, great outdoor ambiance! Righteously Raw Chocolate gives Haggos 2 THUMBS UP 5 Stars and sends a whole lotta love to Haggo!!!! Oh yeah, I would kill to get his Carrot Ginger Soup. I dream about this seriously!

This food is sooo good! It is unique in that it is beyond the average Mexican food. The array of vegetables in the tacos is awesome! My husband has had several trillion burritos in his life and said this may be the best burrito he has ever eaten. Our 16 year old also really liked her quesadilla. Super yum. And the t-shirts rock too! Atmosphere & staff are great.

It's true. These are probably the most expensive tacos you'll ever buy. However. They're fresh, delicious and you can taste the quality. It's said that we don't realize the true cost of food anymore (partially thanks to government subsidies of corn) and I have to agree. We've become so accustomed to dirt cheap food that costs us in the long run that we don't realize we've been passing the buck all along. Digestive issues. Frequent colds. Lack of energy. Mindless eating in search of satiety (which our body determines as sufficient nutrients - if your food isn't "whole", you'll crave more to fill that void). Haggo's is a return to reality. If you want REAL food that's grown/raised as food was intended to be grown/raised and then prepared fresh as can be, then unfortunately, it does cost more (at least if you're wanting to eat animal products). Through that lens, Haggo's a great and delicious deal. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the cross streets - it's easy to miss this "stand". The outdoor seating area is relaxing and completely unexpected in the parking lot where Haggo's has crammed itself into. As far as promptness goes, I called ahead to avoid any delays. Check the hours before you go - they're not open for typical taco shop hours. Parking can be a biatch if the lot is near full. The stall lines were obviously painted for a fleet of Mini Coopers and tricycles. Honda Accord - made it work.

This place makes me smile! The first time I ate at Haggo's, I got back in line and ordered tacos for my friends and neighbors...It was that good! I have been back once a week since and have not been disappointed. Love!

Wish I could comment on the food but I never got to try it. Saw Haggo's on Triple D. Found the website and researched their hours: Tues thru Sun 11a-3p. Drove two hours and arrived at 1:45 to find them closed?? Apparently they shut down after serving 150 customers no matter what time it is. Would think that would be good info for their website, especially after being featured on Triple D. Might have great food but I will never know, won't try again.

I really liked the food and the fact that it tasted very fresh. I do not mind paying for small portion size but if I you are already serving small taco, burritos, and plates you have to put more of the important ingredients in the dishes. For example, the sea hag burrito should not be a cabbage burrito with an ounce of fish. Good food, but not enough of the quality ingredients you are paying for.

  • Katie L.

Great service, fresh ingredients, delicious food. Bonus points for great concept and more bonus points for the charming little eating area. Everything I have tried here has been absolutely delish. This is not your typical cheapo roadside taco place - everything here is sustainable and fresh, and you can really tell the difference. Not that it stops me from my occasional jaunt to Juanita's, but I'm just sayin'. Kudos to them: my mother has been trying to force me to eat split pea soup for my entire life, and I have always hated every version of her beloved porridge. But seriously, Haggos will make you LOVE split pea soup.

    (5)
  • Amy V.

Quaint little spot on 101, walked there for lunch. This is -not- the spot for cheap tacos, if you want cheap head to Juanita's or somewhere like that. If you want fresh ingredients, Haggo's is the place! I got the veggie quesadilla, and sometimes when places boast veggies there's maybe 2 or three kinds. Not Haggos. I had a rainbow of veggies in my whole wheat tortilla and the tastes were delightful. Friendly service, variety in the menu but not overwhelming. Cute atmosphere. A bit pricey, but I think it's worth it.

I think you've all said it all; this is a good as a taco gets! Had the halibut tacos yesterday, and want them again... right now in that sunny garden. Yummy.

awesome taco's! they were out of the fish so I'm gonna have to go back soon

People drive 2 hours?? No fish taco is worth that effort, but I stopped in after seeing on DD&D. Ordered a single fish taco. As promised, absolutly fresh halibut. Doubt there are many fish tacos in US that use halibut. The taco was $4.50. The toppings were fresh and healthy. Cool vibe to the little patio area. All in all, the best fish taco I can recall eating.

My husband and I are visiting my sister in Encinitas for the week. I looked online for a great fish taco joint and read the stellar reviews of this bohemian, organic taco place and decided to check it out. I had one wild salmon taco and one chicken taco. Both were great. The hubby had the carne asada taco and loved it. The vibe of the place is very laid back, sweet little garden to eat in and the owner is a doll. He has a bookshelf with an eclectic selection and I paged through the Andy Warhol bio while enjoying my splendid lunch. Definitely a find.

I give this place a 5 for concept: outdoorsy, cute, organic, sustainable, veggie options, healthy food, compostable plates and cutlery. I also add some stars for how friendly the people were that worked there...super, super nice and smiley....and accommodating to my dog. It looses some stars for: a long wait. I know they make everything from scratch for each person, but my tacos took forever to come out and there wasn't anyone else waiting while I was there. I saw a woman wait for a burrito for double the amount of time it took for my tacos...they apparently forgot her order...and she was the only one in there when I arrived. There were some people that ordered a few minutes after me...it took no time at all for their tacos to come out...so it was confusing...why would it take so long for some and not others? Long wait for some=2 stars. The food: I had salmon tacos that were very tasty. I would give the filling (salmon, crema, salsa, cabbage and cheese) a 4 star rating. The tortillas however, tasted really stale and chewy...and not in a good way. 1 star. My tacos came with brown rice which I love...but it was dry and under cooked. Bleh! 1 star. My tacos also came with some slow cooked beans that were also very good...maybe a 4 star. I do not have a huge appetite, and know they are trying to give healthful portions...not crazy large portions....but for my two tacos, beans, rice and a bottle of water....my bill was almost $13 and I was still hungry afterwards. :( Cost vs satiety.....2 stars. I know that organic food costs more and am ok with that....but I at least would have liked to be full. I think I will try a veggie burrito next time...it's cheaper and I think they are known for their veggie options. I definitely want to go back and give it another shot but today I had mixed emotions.

Haggo's Tacos, you are amazing. I was down in socal on a surf trip and we ate here twice. Each time was incredible. I can't stress how delicious and fresh and amazing the food tasted. I had the fish tacos one day, and carne asada the next. If I had to eat tacos from only one place for the rest of my life, it would be here, hands down. And I say that living in San Francisco, home of one zillion mexican restaurants. The staff was friendly and very accommodating to our scraggly surfer ways. (The first time we ate here we were still wearing our wetsuits). My only regret is that I wasn't able to eat here a third time. Or a fourth. But I will be back, for sure.

I would have gave 5 stars if the prices were just a tiny bit cheaper and they were open more/longer. I live a quarter mile from this place and i tried to go to it a few times before my first visit and they were always closed early because they were sold out. I mean this food was amazing. I had the carne asada taco it came with blue cheese and it was so so so good. My girlfriend got fish taco of some sort and it was great. where they lost a star is charging 1.50 for avocado and 2 bucks for cheddar cheese ( i might have got those mixed up). never the less 3.5 to upgrade a 12 dollar taco plate that comes with 2 tacos is just a little high for the atmosphere. I may be a little biased because the two plates with no drinks was 27 bucks and i eat a lot so i left a little hungry. Never the less it is an awesome place.

Was pretty stoked because of the healthy, organic advertising. We love fish tacos. These were not good. Not at all. The sea bass was not cleaned properly so the fatty, silver skin imparted a really, awful, super fishy flavor. Perhaps the fish wasn't fresh because it was really bad. Plus it had a mushy consistency. Could not finish because was afraid of getting sick. The sides and salsa were unremarkable.

Best organic tacos!! We ate here and got the pollo tacos and they were awesome!! Tasted very fresh and didn't feel greasy after eating here! I love that it's organic, uses locally grown veggies, and was very tasty!! We will be definitely be making this one of our favorite stops!!

I have tried this place twice... Both times I waited over 20 minutes to get my food. Their prices are way too high. Mozy's has healthy tacos/burritos and the prices are significantly lower. There is not enough seating and some of the seats are unshaded. The food is good but not worth the price. I realize they are a new establishment and I hope they improve over time.

this place was really good. i had the veggie quesadilla. the tortilla was really nice and soft, the veggies were fully cooked, and the cheese was really fresh. they were out of fish, so i wasn't able to try the fish tacos, next time! the rice and beans could use a little extra flavor/flair. i could do without them. its also exciting to see a little wes anderson love.

finally got a chance to go to san diego and taste the infamous tacos. So glad I did. Tremendously fresh, clean and delicious! Must remember that they are closed on Monday, and only open 11-3 the rest of the week. Get there early!

  • Eric G.

Really great place! It's a bit pricey and the rice was nothing special but the rest is really worth it. The food was superb and organic, which is a tremendous mix. The vegetable mix in my taco was really good and the met was tasty and well seasoned.

Saw it on triple D, drove almost 2 hours from Downey to get there, while walking up to the door at 1:45 a girl came out with a sign that said closed. I said I thought you closed at 3, she said we can only serve 120 people on Sundays. I said I drove 2 hours! She said sorry. I noticed in the reviews others have had the same problem. we went a block up the street to KOTIJA taco Shop. Fish tacos, Al Pastor tacos, everything was great. I don't know if they are ORGANIC and I don't care. but they had food, it was good, they were open!!!!

Great concept! Really cute, funky patio area with great big tomato and chile plants. Healthy, organic, fresh food from a fast food window - cool. But $10 for two carne asada tacos is ridiculous. I would rather buy the ingredients at Whole Foods and make my own carne asada tacos. I'd get more food for my money, and it would probably take as long!

  • Eric G.

So awesome. Love everything about this place. I had the Burgandy burritto just now and it was incredible. Everything is organic and so flavorful. I love burritto's and this was one the best I have had. Mozy's is a great place too, but I think Haggo's is better. The overall freshness of the ingredients is what sold me. It is a cool, funky location, which some people will love and some won't, but I thought it was great. I can imagine if it gets really busy it might take a while to get your order, but I think it is worth it.

  • Stren M.

Not sure what the fuss is about. Healthy tacos and burritos that taste healthy - and not in a good way. They weren't bad just super plain, you know, like cardboard. Total lack of seasoning and a lack of flavor variety. The carne asada burrito was just carne asada, cabbage and onions. No tomatoes or beans or avocado or cilantro or lime juice even to spice it up. Nothing to break up the monotony of unsalted meat and onions/cabbage. At least the veggie tacos had some avocado in there. The special ghost pepper salsa was basically flavorless hot sauce. The regular roasted tomato salsa was served in a tiny portion and was again pretty bland and watery. So yeah if you cherish real flavors then stay away. If you cherish healthiness over your taste buds then I suppose it's a good choice. Personally I'm in the latter category so two stars for me.

This place is great. It is outdoors with mellow vibe. The owner haggo is very nice and takes the time out to answer questions. I have had the veggie burrito twice now and both times it was delicious. The girl at the register taking your order is really friendly. I wish this place the best and their is nothing like local organic beef and vegetables. Stay local. See the write up on rootsyliving.com

Tried Haggos for the first time while waiting to pick up a wetsuit repair from a neighboring shop - ordered to go because I was in a bit of a hurry, but ended up waiting 20 minutes to get the order. Granted, everything is made fresh to order, and I was not displeased with the food. Best chicken burrito I've had in a long time - Cool artwork on the patio and nice to see the plants that are going into your food grown on premises. The to go plate came with red beans and brown rice, tasty and well cooked, could have used some more seasoning, but perfect for adding your own. Free-range chicken burrito was awesome, and everything just tasted FRESH. And the serving container was compostable, along with the utensils - nice to see from a "fast food" joint. A bit on the spendy side, and fast is in quotes above for a reason. All said, I'll be back and hope they do well - Leuc is a perfect spot for this organic mex vendor. Good on ya!

  • Diana A.

I enjoyed the chicken tacos and the beans & rice are very tasty. The location is very cool & outdoor seating is ecclectic. It is a bit on the pricier side but I'm ok with that knowing it's locally owned & organic. Definitely worth another trip.

Turned onto this place from some coworkers...and I'm very thankful I was. I had carne asada tacos which were delicious. Definitely will be back...I probably drove by it 100 times without knowing it was there haha!

Funky, Tasty and oh so Good!!! I'm gluten intolerant and have an allergy to Iodized salt. So the fact that this place uses all natural organic ingredients is the reason I keep coming back, oh and Haggo is so nice too! I've recommended this place to lots of people, thought it was time I put a review here in yelp.

Love love love this place..I work next door at Fur Reel and they have no problem walking over my fave, their deliciously healthy veggie burrito. They always have awesome fish tacos using different types of fish depending on what's fresh that day. What more could I say besides that I could eat it everyday..I'm hungry just thinking about it..Thanks for opening up right by my work..I scored!

The Baxter burrito was pretty tasty. Brown rice was cooked perfectly but its just plain rice. Beans were still crunchy, yuck. Sea Bass tacos were pretty fantastic. Overall, the place was A-OK, but i can't give it a glowing review.

I have sampled Haggo's on several occasions now. After surfing beacons today, I enjoyed locally caught halibut that was very fresh and delicious. I decided to write this review because after my fist visit it took over 20 minutes to get my food. After today, I can see that they have dialed in their new restaurant and have improved the service. Its a great new addition to Leucadia. The food is 100% organic and they list all of the local farms. No one in the area can offer the same freshness. one bummer is that they are only open from 12-3 and I would love to see this open for breakfast or in the dinner hour. Maybe soon?

  • Curtis J.

So nice to have Mexican food that is clean and fresh and not have to worry about consuming GMOs. Good food, great atmosphere, and friendly staff. Not to mention the owner tries to compost as much of the trash as he can.

We went to a fair amount of trouble to visit this restaurant only to be met with a "closed" sign long before their posted hours. I'm a good enough cook that very few restaurants really blow me away anymore, so to me it's just not worth the inconvenience of a long drive to bother with this kind of joint. Maybe OK if you live in the vicinity otherwise I'd say pass on it.

Great tacos with quality ingredients, the owners are nice, but it is a bit pricey for tacos (I paid $10 for 2 Halibut tacos).

I love this little lunchtime eatery. The location is perfect, the little patio dining area is adorable. I must admit I've only had the organic veggie burrito (without cheese). But it is so good that it is all I ever want. I emphasize that I order it without cheese because my only critique is that I think for the non-vegan the cheese probably adds another flavor note that seems to be lacking otherwise. The non cheese version is delicious but it's missing a little something. Usually adding extra salsa does the job though.

  • Genevive B.

Organic, local, delicious, and affordable - almost too good to be true in Leucadia! I feel reluctant to write about the stand because it's exactly the kind of place foodies wil overrun. Still, I count chef Haggo and chef April among the community's blessings. They have transformed a dull corner into an utterly delightful and mindful eatery, where most of the produce comes from an organic farm less than a mile away. We love to take away fish tacos and a cup of April's vegan organic soup (she used to make the soups at Lotus Cafe) and picnic at the nearby beach. Seating at the stand is very limited. Costs about $10 for lunch.

Went for the first time today. Mellow crowd, perfect low key ambiance, excellent service. Love the small details like the Steve Zissou and Cousteau images, Bad News Bears photos, great little bookshelf. I haven't even gotten to the food yet. Ordered the daily special halibut tacos. Perfect. Probably the best quality fish I have seen in any local fish taco. Just delicious. It is very clear these guys care about what they're doing and how they're doing it. I'm a new regular.

OMG!!! What a FUN expierience. We saw Haggos featured in San Diego magazine as being in Encinitas. It's actually in Leucadia. We had Chicken and Carne Asada tacos with rice and beans. They were the best, freshest most amazing tacos we EVER had!! We met the owner James who was a very cool guy with a vision and a genuine passion for fresh delicious food thats healthy!!!.

  • Mike B.

Super good. Here's the thing - bring your best manners and patience, stand in line , order and well worth any wait, for delicious organic fresh fare you will crave later on. They do a great job and have limitations so may not be always open or available if they have reached the days maximum. We had the Cousteau and the Veggie tacos both really good. It's the kind of food we appreciate, go back for often and love so it's worth any extra cost to keep it fresh and available and healthy. If you go and it's closed a good alternative for healthy is Native Foods in Encinitas by Trader Joes. To your health!

AMAZING FOOD! Love the idea of "healthy Mexican" food! Also very organic and fresh. I had the veggie quesadilla ...amazing! Co-workers had the veggie tacos and burrito! Service was a bit slow but worth the wait. Also there are like 4 tables so the four of us gathered around a tall table to eat.

The BEST tacos I've had in a LONG time! The halibut taco was my favorite. The carne asada was also yummy. The ingredients are fresh, organic, non-gmo. Yes.. about $4/$5 per taco, but it's SO worth every penny. Haggo & April are a superb team!! Can't wait to go back there!

  • Seth G.

A welcome and organically-situated addition to Leucadia, Haggo's differentiates itself by caring about it's customers and its food just a little more. You'll spend a little more for a little less, but walk away feeling well-nourished.

I was completely wrong and surprised. The first time I came to this taco shop I was disgusted and confused at this taco shop even being called "organic". The second time I came in (I decided to give the place a second chance) I was insanely surprised. It tasted 10x better than the last time I went there and the employees were much nicer this time. I don't know what kind of changes Haggo is making but he needs to keep it up because I think I found a new regular hangout spot

  • Deana G.

Great place. Organic, local, and fresh tacos and burritos. Sure, we had to wait a few minutes but I'll gladly wait a few extra minutes for a taco or burrito of this quality with ingredients that don't look like they came out of a vat or were sitting around all day or came from mysterious origins. We liked everything we ordered (pollo tacos, pollo burrito, and beef burgundy burrito) and the little courtyard was pleasant to sit in. Was it overpriced? I didn't think so - it seemed very fair for what we got (which also included brown rice and beans), also considering that it was both organic and local. I'll definitely be back! Keep in mind that they're only open for lunch (12-3) or at least that was the case at the time of our visit.

Great taco joint! The organic tacos here are some of the best ever. The eclectic Wes Anderson decor reminds you of a small hometown eatery at the cabin. It's awesome!!

Incredible! just what Leucadia needs. I'm a member of a local CSA and I love the idea of getting CSA quality food from a restaurant. not sure I would call this a restaurant, it's more like a taco stand... but it's so cute and the food is delicious, organic, and very fresh. My husband calls the halibut tacos the best tacos he's ever had (not even the best fish tacos). I'm slightly afraid to spread the word about this place since it's so small with just a few tables, but you really need to know about it :-)

  • Marisa L.

Seriously some of the best carne asada tacos I've ever eaten. And I like food! I didn't actually visit since my sister brought me the tacos for take out but the sauce on the tacos was incredible and the meat cooked perfectly. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that the brown rice and pinto beans sides were pretty bland and plain. Looking forward to trying it again. Just wish they had longer hours!

Love the concept of organic tacos because you just don't see it very often. I ordered the Azul tacos that came with brown rice and beans. The beef was very tender and flavored fairly well. The sautéed mushrooms were a bit of an odd addition but no major complaints. For the price it would have been nice to have a bit more beef. The corn tortilla was cooked perfectly, not too soft and not too crispy. The blue cheese was unexpectedly nice. All in all the taco was very good but not as amazing as some have suggested. Taco alone would have gotten 4 stars in my book. Where I dropped it a bit was the rice and beans. The organic brown rice was just that...nothing added, not cooked in a special stock or anything. To me it tasted like the frozen brown rice you can defrost from Trader Joes. "It's just rice", you say...oh no. You can't skimp on the rice and to me it was a complete lack of effort. The beans were fine but again lacked any imagination at all. The rice and beans just didn't match up with the creativity of their tacos which is too bad. I don't live nearby...just driving through...once again thrown off by a 4 1/2 star review on yelp! People, please stop handing out 5 star reviews like they're going out of style. Too bad there isn't a 3 1/2 star review. Great concept here, just needs to be tweaked. I will drop $15 on some tacos but for this price you need to bring it with every single item on the plate...just saying.

My absolute favorite place to get fish tacos in all of San Diego. Fresh, organic, local, and cooked and served with smiles all around. Dining area is a cure little garden type area in front of the re-purposed food truck. Delicious.

Nice little hole in the wall. We stopped by on our way up the 101. Food tasted good. Not sure we'd stop by again but great local place. It was packed the while time we were there. Only downfall is that they don't have a public restroom, so be sure to use to restroom before you go there.

This is my new lunch spot when I'm in Leucadia! Perfect if you're looking for good local and responsible food! I went there with my young girls and husband and we all enjoyed it! Menu is simple, yet well made and good for you as well as the environment. The vibe is great, and I could tell I'd really get along with the owner. He's doing more than making food, he's trying to change the way people think about their food. BRAVO! Read my full review of Haggo's here: realfoodfamily.com/lates…

Such a great addition to Leucadia lunching! Organic, local (mostly), sustainable and delicious! I had the veggie tacos (served with brown rice and beans) and was very satisfied, We went for lunch on a Tuesday and were served quickly and enjoyed the cool, outdoor eclectic vibe. I'll definitely be back!

First visit to Haggo's Organic Taco today and it won't be my last! Fabulous, tasty, great atmosphere, fun and funky just like all of Leucadia. Really nice owner and staff. I can and will walk there on a regular basis. If you have to drive, there's plenty of parking too. Update: OK now I can give the FIVE stars Haggo really deserves! Go there just about every weekend to get my taco fix or try their soup if they have especially the lentil and I was never a big fan of it til theirs.

This place caught my eye, just as my wife said she was hungry.. Real glad I pulled in.. Great gormet organic food. So my wife got two fish tacos n I got the beef burrito. Her tacos were fantastic n had a mango salsa on it. My burrito was also great. Going to have to remember this place....

This little place is fantastic. Everything is totally fresh and cooked with real care and love for the craft, if you know what I mean. You can tell the chef is really into it, treating each order almost as a seperate creation. One small suggestion would be to offer an extra spicy salsa as well as the delicious, albit mild, one they have now. For us real salsa lovers, those little containers of tame salsa are "one per bite". How about a nice hot one? Other than that, everything about the place is great. Super tasty food, cute setting. The seating is all outdoor so we'll have to see what happens when the weather turns cold (or wet). Hope they have some kind of contingency patio cover planned. If you haven't yet discovered this little Leucadia gem, do yourself a favor and head over there. Tue-Sun noon to 4:00pm only. (Please extend those hours, please)

First time here and I loved it and will definitely be back. I ordered the chicken tacos and there were delicious. The meat is juicy and has lots of flavor and all the veggies were cooked to perfection. I also found my favorite new drink - Kevita Sparking Probiotic Mojito Lime Mint. I will definitely be back soon.

Fantastic! Saw it on DDD. Very fresh. Fantastic chipotle sauce. Mmmm halibut in a taco. And wifey is vegetarian. Thrilled they had the "Veronica Corningstone" taco for her. Kids ate cheese rolls and beans. Happy wife, happy kids, happy life.

Haggo's has moved. Like most people, I don't like change, so as I sit here I'm telling myself how unhappy I am that the Haggo's of bygone days is no more. But, truth be told, I'll get over it, I always do! Other than the location, everything's the same, same menu, same food, same drinks, same hours and closed on Mondays, some of the same decor plus some new decor. It's all indoors in a fancy-schmancy LEED building. I suspect their stint on Guy Fieri's Diners-Drive Ins-& Dives played at least a small part in their "growth". I'm happy for them, I really am. Now the struggle for them will be to stay true to their roots & keep serving GMO-Free, Organic high quality food without compromise. It's so hard for those of us that follow a plant-based, organic, non-GMO, sustainable eating approach to be able to eat out, and thanks to Haggo's Tacos I've had a place to go for taco fixes! I'll keep coming until that changes.

First trip to Hago's. I had the Costeau Taco Special. Basically two sautéed fish tacos, with rice and beans. Certainly the ingredients were fresh and of good quality. I would give the tacos a just better than average rating, due in particular to high quality ingredients. Where I felt shorted was in the overall flavor department. It all tasted good, but was missing some pizzaz, some spiciness. I would not go so far as to say the food was bland, but it was close. The beans and rice were a bit boring and one note. The mini cup of salsa included with the meal could do little to elevate the meal from being boring and ordinary. The included lime wedge was perhaps the only salvation. Considering the premium price (11.25) for 2 tacos, 3 oz or rice and 3 oz of beans it seemed a bit expensive for ordinary flavors. Perhaps the land based proteins have some more vivid flavors and seasonings. I probably won't make a special trip back to Hago's when there are many other taco options in the area. Don't get me wrong the food was of good quality, it simply lacked spice and flavor and for a $15 lunch with a bottled iced tea, there are better values to be found.

Mango habanero salsa. Fresh fish. California avocados. You just can't get a better fish taco. The only reason this isn't five stars is the type of restaurant. This is a local casual restaurant.

Best burrito I have ever had! I bought the Kelly Leak and I loved it so much that I had to buy two!! Highly recommend this place!

You won't find karinas calimania here so don't even try. This caters to healthy living. Seahagg burrito is good. The fish is fresh. If you're into healthy tasting food then this is it. If you want a greasy one your best at Karinas or Juanitas for some high calorie magic.

Waited for 15 to place an order (understaffed). We started the see the orders coming out and how it was cooked. Everything seemed overcooked and cold looking, for a 11.25+ tax 2 fish taco plate. We went to kotijas instead.pretty good. I know organic is healthier but just didn't look good, sorry.

Had the Cousteau tacos and hubby had the Azul tacos - both were excellent! We arrived when they opens and all of the staff were really friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend!

Had the Cousteau tacos (Baja Halibut). It was tasty. Needed a little bit of salt and it was refreshing. Brown rice and beans were bland and no seasoning. It's a healthy lunch so I drenched it with their salsa. Salsa was spicy and delicious. I recommend asking for an extra large salsa with your small order of salsa. Overall delicious and great service. Will come again.

Incredibly awesome tacos!!! Decently priced for a GREAT, FRESH, and ORGANIC taco. I'm not really a taco fan, but this is the best taco I have ever had in my life hands down!!!! A MUST GO-TO PLACE!!!

This spot is legit. Great concept, great execution. Get the Cousteau plate. And, the new space is very cool. Park in back.

My family and I make the trek out to Haggo's on a fairly regular basis. We live in east Vista and for us it is certainly worth the drive. For fresh, ORGANIC food I would say the pricing is pretty fair. We have been going since they had the food truck and are pleased with the new location. The food is simple and full of flavor. I always get the pollo tacos with a side of avocado and habanero sauce. ¡Muy delicioso! Also, they get bonus points for having a book nook; my kids LOVE "checking out" books while we wait for our lunch. I highly recommend the place to anyone living a green, organic lifestyle.

Hands down my favorite SoCal fish tacos. Fresh, organic, and unique, quirky decor. Themed after moby dick with a splash of Bill Murray and Anchor Man. Great kids meals and family friendly environment. We no longer live here full time but Haggos is our first stop when we visit.

Seriously best fish tacos ever. No joke and fish tacos are my favorite food so I don't say it likely. I eat here a few days a week and it's always consistent. Awesome awesome awesome

I had to redo my review of this place because the owner reached out to me and this to me is excellent customer service. My original issue was that the staff members were not too attentive, that they were stingy with their salsa and that the Seahagg burrito, although really good, was missing more fish but an apology and explanation from the owner fixed all of this. I'm not going to hesitate to order another burrito next time, as I now know the owner works hard to continually improve his business. It's nice to know that you're eating organic and non-GMO food and my wife and I thought the Veronica Corningstone tacos were really good as a vegan option. They do not have a salsa bar because the salsa is made fresh every day 100% organic, which is pretty impressive and makes sense. Don't be shy about asking for more salsa for your meal because it was delicious. I see that a lot of people didn't know about the limited hours so make sure to look that up if you want to check this place out.

If you want healthy organic food this is the place for you. However, if you want tasty Mexican food keep driving down the 101 until you get to Bull Taco. I do appreciate the menu tributes to characters from the movies The Bad News Bears and Anchorman. I ordered the Baxter burrito, just because I love that little dog.

We came here based on the high rating. I would say our experience was sub par. The food didn't taste bad, but it wasn't amazing. I had the Seahagg burrito and didn't taste the mango at all. But the slaw was good.my boyfriend had the chicken burrito and said it tasted like cardboard.

  • Ross V.

Owner is awesome and the halibut tacos fantastic, I would highly recommend. Would only suggest to let them know if you are on a lower sodium intake for some items so they can accommodate. I think the Organic/Non-gmo movement is extraordinary - Thanks Haggo! I hope that you set a trend!

  • Shelley R.

Such rude service! The waitress taking our order was awful....she made us stand there awkwardly waiting for 5 min & when we politely asked what we were waiting for, she was shockingly condescending and rude, rolling her eyes at us & making us feel unwelcome...as though we did something to personally offend her by wanting to order food. Then when she finally got around to taking our order, she rudely asked what we would like...rushing us through our choices. It's too bad, because the food is really good.

Bomb fish tacos every time. I always go with the Cousteau or the Seahagg. Make sure you have some time because there WILL be a line since they're only open 4 hours a day. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. They also have beer now!

Update: Okay so basically Haggos has some of the best taco and burritos in San Diego. I really love what he's doing with organics/gmo free foods. I still feel that Haggo could hire more people so customers don't wind up waiting in line. One more person wouldn't hurt, would it? That gripe aside, I'm very grateful to have Haggos in the neighborhood. Delicious lunch every time.

This is the best (and healthiest) taco shop in San Diego! It is mostly a local's place, and the hours are very limited which is a bummer, but the excellent food and service is great. Now you can satisfy your Mexican food craving with delicious organic food and feel no guilt!! The adorable little outside eating area is so cute, and its a great location right on PCH. I would highly recommend eating here, I would just also highly recommend to remember to look at the hours before you drive all the way over there!

Okay, I've been hearing about his place since I moved here, and I'm happy to say it delivered. It's a really good organic, Mexican-inspired taco shop-- It's not really Mexican food (think California surf food)-- with high quality ingredients and a local vibe. You can tell these guys really care about what they do. Haggo's is really busy during the short hours it's open so plan to wait a bit. Can't go wrong with chicken, fish or steak. Try the vegan even if YOU aren't. It was actually my favorite. I have to come back. If it proves consistent I might give it 5 stars.

I had seen Haggo's Organic Tacos from the street but it wasn't until I saw it on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network with Guy Fieri that I decided to try it out. On my first visit I ordered the market-price Cousteau fish tacos with organic cabbage slaw, organic cumin-lime crema, organic mango salsa cruda and cilantro, to which I added organic sharp cheddar for an extra $1.50. Ok, I get it - it is all organic. I considered ordering the beef tacos instead but they were "azul" and I don't do blue cheese. I'm glad I didn't switch - the fish tacos were awesome. The whole plate of food, between the tacos and the sides, was full of beautiful vibrant colors. I think this is what real food looks like. With a bottle of water my lunch came to $14 and change. That's a big number for two tacos, rice, beans and water. I didn't actually love the organic red beans and rice - both were bland, although I did like the sour and spicy "dressing" which I poured all over them. Actually I wasn't sure what that sauce was for but I did like it on the rice and beans. The kitchen is basically a food truck. I'm not clear if it is technically a trailer or a truck, but I'm pretty sure if you were to remove the wood panels under the order window you'd see wheels. The rest of the setting is that wonderful brand of Leucadia zen. All the seating is outdoors, with fountains, art, books, rocks and other items of interest in the midst. On my second visit I had the Burgundy Burrito. Check out this description from the menu: "Citrus soy marinated organic grass-fed beef, organic cumin-lime crema, organic caramelized onion, organic cabbage slaw and cilantro", to which I added the organic sharp cheddar. That's 5 "organics" versus only 4 for the Cousteau fish tacos, so this burrito us one better, right? I loved both dishes. I will admit to being annoyed that they are only open Tues to Sun 11 am to 3 pm. The other night I wanted to do takeout for dinner but they were closed. At least I saved money. If they were open all the time it could cost us a fortune!

There is a reason that this was featured on a Diners Drive-ins & Dives. These tacos are very unique. They use a lot of paprika or chipotle spice. I can't pin point the smokey flavor from the Casteau halibut fish taco. The veggie taco may even be better than the fish! All of the fresh natural organic ingredients kill it. I love this place even if it took 45 min. For 2 tacos. It's a small place come early because they do sell out!

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! This place becomes my favorite taco shop. First, I want to say that I am not a taco person, but I love the taco here. Super juicy and delicious. If you wonder how we found this place, the story is interesting. P and I decided not to use Yelp for that lunch. We were driving on Hwy 101 and looking for a place to have lunch before we head to LA. We randomly parked on the street and noticed there was a very colorful yet vintage yet using reusable materials place. We lined up on the line, and didn't notice it was a taco shop til we read the menu. P ordered the food for me, so I didn't really pay attention on what he ordered. Anyways, the food came and smelled super delicious, but it's taco. (ugh...) The first bite, OMG love it!!!!!!!!! I love the taco and burrito. I am going back again to try other tacos. BTW, they put fruits on their taco! Heart it!

Yummy!!! Fresh, delicious, organic ingredients. Friendly staff, clean restaurant...anytime I'm in the area I will for sure be back for some fresh caught fish tacos. The only thing I didn't like...the beans, very bland...but I sure didn't go here for the beans so I don't really care about that anyway.

Hagos has the freshest/healthiest tacos I've ever had. Every ingredient is ripe and delicious. I love the fish tacos! Very cool spot to eat as well. Clean, casual, and refreshing. I highly recommend this find establishment.

The "garden variety" tacos are the best!! Fish burrito with halibut as catch of the day was very good, fresh and the wheat tortillas didn't have that cardboard taste like most wheat tortillas at the store do. The rice and beans were blunt and unnecessary, save yourself the carbs and calories and go straight for the tacos! Their house salsa seemed a bit diluted, nothing special, but the habañero one has a real kick to it! The service was great and everyone working there is very pleasant. I got there a few minutes before 11 on a Sunday and there were already people waiting. It is pricey for Mexican food, but it's all organic and non-gmo.

  • Courtney B.

The tacos were amazing. Fresh ingredients and a lot of flavor. The people who work there were very polite and patient. I would recommend this place to my friends any day. The patio was adorable. My only problem with this place is that it's not close enough to LA! Coming back for sure. Thank you for the great experience.

I finally had a chance to stop by and try this place after they ran out on my last visit. The catch of the day was salmon so I did a fish taco minus the mango and a beef taco with beans and rice and my boyfriend did two fish tacos with beans and rice. The food is tasty and very very fresh, I really enjoyed the cole slaw and onions on the steak taco, super strong vinegar taste but I like that, my boyfriend however did not love the strong vinegar flavor. My fish taco was good too. As for the beans and rice, brown rice and red beans, unique for a Mexican restaurant but still good. They have a nice spice on the beans. The environment is super cool, I'd love to make my backyard feel comfortable and relaxed like that. The tacos are a bit pricey tho, for two taco plates and a drink it was over $30... Overall, good fresh ingredients. Unique favors, cool environment and a bit pricey.

Fresh and tasty fish tacos are great with the mango salsa and hot sauce. If it is nice weather sit outside on the patio but make sure to check out the custom work they did on the inside of the new location.

So you want a fish taco you say? Then you must come here! This is my ultimate favorite fish taco spot! Not only is it GMO free and all around clean organic eating but the environment is super unique and modern. From the moment you drive up to this spot you know that this is a hidden gem. As you walk in the amazing aromas of cooked freshly caught fish, spices, and garlic set your taste buds up for an amazing surprise. The vibe is a very laid back beach feel with decor that stems from Wes Anderson movies, Anchorman and other well known indie movies. Let's just say if you want your senses to be rocked this is your spot. Ok now back to the food. I am in actual love with their Baja halibut fish tacos. If your feeling extra hungry then I highly recommend their beans and rice side. From the first bite of their tacos though, your taste buds are slapped with flavors of fresh citrus, cilantro, sweet mango, creamy organic crema, and perfectly seasoned fish. Then texture wise you have the traditional crunchy purple cabbage encompassed in a warm soft corn tortilla. I mean even the visual appeal and vibrancy of their fish tacos will have you diggin in before you can say haggos tacos! A definite must try if your in the encinitas so cal area :)

I was final able to give this place a try on one of my days off. it's kind of difficult to come here because of their hours. 11-3 really :( that's the only bummer... BUT!! their tacos on the other hand are amazing!!! I ordered the organic pollo tacos with the rice and beans omg!!! super delicious honestly even if didn't have chicken in it they would be just as good! all the veggies on it make it meaty enough to eat. I do admit the wait can be pretty long but I feel since there hours are so short a lot of people are there. will definitely be back on my day off again :)

Haggo's: I love everything about you. First visit last weekend. Yes, first. Why in the hell it took me so long to make the trek over here (I live right across the way)? I have no idea. But I am in love. First: the concept of Haggo's. Cute little shack of a place right on PCH giving you some of the best tacos in the area. And the tacos are FRESH and organic. They have an option for everyone: vegan, fish, chicken, etc. The menu is simple, but that is why is is so appealing. There is not much room to sit in there though, so be prepared for a tight fit or to wait a little but for a table. But you would not want a place like this to be big: it is meant to be quaint and personal. Plus, the eclectic assortment of Wes Anderson and Anchorman decorations is funny touch. I almost did not write a review because I want to keep this place all for myself, but this is a must-go place.

  • Rob D.

I gave Haggo's four stars primarily because they sell organic food which is a rarity in this day and age. One would think with the trending increasing demand for organic products and food that many more eating establishments would serve organic food. Many of us, like myself, only buy organic at the grocery store. I ordered the Cousteau tacos which were grilled halibut fish tacos with organic cole slaw, organic cumin/lime crema, very fresh delicious mango salsa and cilantro. There was an average amount of halibut which was very fresh and combined with the rest of the above ingredients, a very good taco. The combination of the crema and the mango salsa really magnified the freshness of the halibut. And, even better...all organic. The two tacos cost about $10 which was a little pricey but worth it because of the good flavor and the higher quality of the ingredients. This is a quaint location along Coast Highway in the little beach town of Leucadia run in a trailer/food truck. I like the vibe.

Great tacos! Fresh and flavorful. A bit of a long wait but it's ok. Has nice outdoor seating space to enjoy lunch - pleasant and not too crowded

LOVE THIS TACO SHOP! And love the owner too - he is such a rad, down to earth dude its no wonder his food is killer too. It is a change from the normal greasy mexican taco shop (which I also love) and many of the veggies and herbs are grown right behind the truck. The little garden is quaint and eclectic and even has a kids book shelf for the littles. GET THE VEGGIE QUESADILLA OR FISH TACOS!

    (5)
  • Kyle L.

The ingredients were great and the beef in my tacos was seasoned well. Would give them 4 stars if my friend didn't almost break his tooth when he bit into his veggie burrito and came down on a rock. Maybe clean your veggies a bit better guys. Still finished it though. Not sure if I'll be back due to the rock but worth a try if you're in Leucadia and want tacos at lunch. Kinda weird they're only open a few hours a day, but I guess I would be too if that's all I needed to be to make a living.

I almost don't want to leave a review to help keep this a secret spot. But when visiting SD I'm always in the mood to find new mouth watering hole in the wall spot...and this is one of those spots that did not disappoint! Get your taste buds ready for a treat! The made to order fresh organic ingredients will have you wanting.....no, CRAVING MORE! All is done inside a trailer truck. Prices may seem high for some but when you taste the quality, you will realize that it is reasonable. A nice outside loose gravel seating area with pretty cool recycled water fall pieces that waters the herb garden wall. Make friends with others and share a table. Parking can be a challenge to; small parking lot. Be patient...you'll thank me later after you eat here. The line can be long but well well worth the wait. Go hungry, leave happy and know you will be left craving more when you are so far away! I'll be back... soon!

    (5)
  • William J.

Wow! This place is so good! It's basically a stationary trailer food truck but who cares? And you'll wait in line, for sure. But do it. The food is excellent! I go there all the time because it's only a short freeway drive away. The only thing is they close at 3pm. So go for lunch. It's a great hidden gem, everyone needs to eat at Haggo's!

I'm saying this now: best beef taco I've ever had. And I eat beef every day now. The acidity in the caramelized onions was to perfection. Every garnish was fresh and beautifully ripe. Who likes pink tomatoes?! No one. Red juicy tomatoes are essential on a fish taco. All the food aside, this little place reminds me of Paia, Maui. Funky and eclectic and so Leucadia. Just go, ok?

Used to be 5 stars. The trailer and ambiance was amazing. Good is stuff great. But now it feels expensive for just being a regular Mexican restaurant. $14 for a small fish burrito.

I took my son and wife here. the place was packed with a line. My first thought was we won't be able to sit and eat but it seemed like every time someone finished ordering someone finished eating and the same was true for us. The food was amazingly good and the people were cool. It's hard to find a place that has organic food and knows how to prepare it well. This is now top of the list for family hangout.

I've found that it's best to take the recommendations of places featured on Triple D with a grain of salt. & that grain of salt is called Yelp. Say what you will about Guy Fieri, but he's a Helluva salesman. Triple D is a slick production that can make just about any place look good. That's why, after seeing a place on Triple D that interests me, I do a reality check. I look it up on Yelp. That's how the girlfriend & I wound up at Haggo's Organic Taco: saw it on Triple D, checked it on Yelp, verified overall good ratings, bookmarked it & stopped in when we had the chance. There were quite a few idiosyncrasies to dining at Haggo's. Hours are listed as open until 3pm, but that's only if the food lasts that long. We arrived shortly after 2pm on a Wednesday & were informed that we were the last customers of the day. That was because they ran out of food. The girlfriend & I both ordered the Cousteau: 2 fish tacos + red beans & brown rice. The fish is described on the menu as "fresh local catch," which was Halibut the day we were there. Our order took a while. That gave us plenty of time to survey our surroundings. Haggo's Organic Taco is basically a food truck that's been parked on a small, fenced-in, garden-like plot at the end of an old strip mall. Seating is an assortment patio furniture in the garden. There's no restroom. For that, I was told to go to a shop called "Seaweed & Gravel" at far opposite end of the strip mall. Returning from my walk to the restroom, our food was finally ready. Eccentricities aside, everything we had was fresh, high quality, organic, non-GMO food prepared simply but deliciously. Real food just plain tastes better than the tampered/ processed food that is all too common now. Real food also seemed to be more filling. The portion size of our plates didn't look intimidating, but we were both feeling pretty full by the time we were done. My 1 critique would be that I felt our fish tacos could've used a little more Halibut & a little less slaw/ mango salsa. In the end, Triple D, Guy Fieri, Yelp & Haggo's Organic Taco all collaborated in the girlfriend & I having a fresh, delicious, filling, organic, non-GMO lunch in a place we never would've had a clue about otherwise. Our path here was about as idiosyncratic as Haggo's itself, but it was all good.

wow. happen to be driving around before a customer call and luckily found this dive on yelp. the food is super fresh. 10x better than that chain which markets their fish tacos. I had the chicken burrito and it had so much flavor

THE WAIT IS WORTH IT PEOPLE. I'm from Norcal, but I travel to Southern California often. I have never come to visit without stopping at Haggos. The staff is awesome & extremely friendly, the food is AMAZING without question. It's fresh, local and organic. The fish taco is a no brainier. The chicken is a close second. Everything is so flavorful and fresh. I highly recommend it!

I think the food is great, the service is good, but the lines are long. The new location is better, and I would go more often if I could get in and out faster. They have healthy options and a unique style. I love the Cousteau Taco plate (fish tacos with rice and beans and mango habanero salsa) and the Seahagg (same but in burrito form) and the Garden Variety is a good vegetarian option. Don't go Saturday at noon.

  • oola l.

It's good, best be prepared to wait, there will be a line. You better know what you want by the time you get to that window! ;) I like the non gmo stance, they do their best with that. So explains the lines, I've noticed any restaurant not doing GMOs (canola, soy, etc...) usually has lines out the doors. Not sure if everyone goes because of that or if they just love the taste and the fact they aren't getting sick after they eat? Hope more of them take a page from this book. So if you dreamed of getting a healthy taco by the beach from a little camper and eating it outside while others drool and watch you eat, get your butt over here.

This place is pretty good and super quirky. I had the vegan taco plate which I thought was pretty good. The salsa is good, the beans are great and the tacos themselves were big. They are only open 11-3 and closed on some holidays. I went here when I made a trip to Lou's and it was worth. I think that Guy Fieri disgraced this place with his presence at one point, so don't let that deter you.

Organic tacos?! Can't feel guilty about that! We were on our way down to SD for the weekend and needed a break from the crazy afternoon traffic. This place wasn't located where it said on the map, we had to drive a little further south. Intersection is Glaucos and North highway. Anyway the place is super cute and served organic tacos/burritos with vegan options. FOOD I ordered the organic pollo tacos and my boyfriend got the seahagg burrito. My tacos were fresh and tasty. The chicken was moist and wonderfully seasoned. There was a zesty kick to the chicken and their salsa was refreshing. I normally can't handle spicy salsa but this one had just the right amount of heat. It was an authentic dark brown/red salsa. Not the typical crushed tomato, diced onions with a little bit of lime and cilantro. I really felt the authentic Mexican influence from my whole dish. I wasn't too much a fan of the tortilla as it was a little tough but honestly I like that a whole lot more than a flimsy, soggy, mess. SERVICE The ladies that served us were very sweet. They took our order promptly and answered our questions as first timers. They even walk the food out to you which gave us a bit of time to relax in the dining area. LOCATION The docked star from keeping this place perfect was the lack of seating. There were maybe 6-7 tables and a few beach chairs which gives the place it's character I'm sure. But it made it very difficult to maneuver around to an open spot - if you could find one. The place for super packed around this time so we had just missed the rush. I also had an issue with some of the tables not having proper shading. We got lucky when a group got up for us to actually snag their table with an umbrella so we could enjoy our meal without baking in the sun. But to be completely fair, it adds a lot of charm to the place and I can totally understand why my negatives could be someone's positives. If I'm ever in the area I'm totally coming back here again!

First time I tried the chicken burrito and what an expensive let down it was. One word to describe it - bland. Served with a teaspoon of watered down salsa the burrito is comprised mainly of lettuce and tortilla, with a spec of chicken near the middle. It tasted more like a veggie wrap than Mexican food, They also charge for pico and don't have chips. Talking about taking the fun out of Mexican food.

Just had the fish taco (the Cousteau) with the catch of the day being halibut and easily the BEST fish taco I have ever had! I love dishes that are fulfilling and refreshing and that is exactly what Haggos Organic Tacos provides. Their pinto beans were also seasoned to perfection. We live in La Mesa (approx 40min away) and we are already planning our next lunch trip out here to Luecadia. Just be aware that seating is limited as this is a very intimate location (which I personally love). Get to know your neighbors and share a table :-) Extremely friendly staff and just an overall great environment.

This place was way cooler when it served it's awesome fish tacos out of a food truck hidden behind a rickety fence... but I get it, the size was bad for business. The new place has less ambience but more space and the same food, so it is worth coming here during their finicky hours.

best taco shop on earth! The food is amazing. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and so fresh!! And the organic beer selection is perfect for a hot day!! love the nautical theme in the space, and also love the bad news bears references i have never passed leucadia on the 5 between 11am and 2pm and not stopped in

A local told me that this place had the best fish tacos. Life changing. Well all I could taste was the tortilla which was heavy. I didn't see alot of fish. I had really good fish tacos at Cancun Mexico next to the 7eleven. Maybe their notireity has gotten to them.

Nice to find an organic Taco spot. The restaurant is actually a lil trailer with some seats in a courtyard. It's cute. Food was good. I got the chicken burrito with beans and rice inside. They put it on the side normally. Hubby got the steak burrito he loved it. The side of avocados and hot sauce set it off. Nice selection of organic drinks to wash it all down too. I got berry kombucha. All was good.

Anyone that cares about what they put in their body or eating organic and/or vegan, this is the place to go! I had a chicken and fish taco combo plate with the cream sauce yum! My daughter had the organic grass fed beef quesadilla also yum! Our friend had the vegan option also fantastic! I love that us health conscience people are creating more places to eat by buying and eating organic. The wait is so worth it! Super friendly staff and very informative. Yes our almighty dollar is creating the change! Here is to delicious healthy eating!

Absolutely incredible. They have a great concept and business model. Sell fresh organic artisan tacos until supplies run out. The only downside is that there is almost always long wait for the food. However it is totally worth it!! Just make sure you get there early so that you can get what you want or get anything at all. Let me repeat; incredible!!

I had really high hopes for this place with it being a local, organic restaurant whose specialty is tacos...two of my favorite things! I came around 2:45 P.M. on a Friday and was surprised there still wasn't a line. Every time I drive this place, it's packed!!! I ordered the steak and chicken taco combo, and it was ok. Just ok. It wasn't bad, but maybe I just had high expectations. I will absolutely come back to this place and try other items. It is really rare to find a place that serves fresh organic ingredients, without all the other junk most mexican restaurants feed us these days...so I will come back just because of that.

Haggo's has been on our list to try since we moved to North County. We finally ventured in over the weekend right before the rush (luckily). Congratulations, you are the best taco joint I've ever tasted in my life. I tried the fresh halibut tacos - with a plate of rice and beans. The salsa has the perfect kick and the light cream sauce on the tacos is just right. Not a heavily loaded taco that hides the flavor. Every ingredient was a beautiful color and seemed to compliment each other perfectly. My fiancé had the veggie tacos and we were both in heaven. Thanks for being awesome.

Best veggie burrito in San Diego make sure u get here between 11 and 3 or you'll miss out

It's hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for but ironically, that's part of its charm. Not to mention the best fish tacos in San Diego County!

  • Shasta L.

Wow the hidden place is quite the gem of a find. Freshest quality and great taste. I had the steak tacos and they were excellent! Love that they are near my office. And the price point is pretty good for quantity and quality. It's a must stop on your journey up the coast.

We drove up from Coronado to this Organic taco shop. It's small, not a lot of seating, the food was great! Fresh! We had the catch of the day and chx tacos. The rice and beans are not seasoned enough but add their salsa and mix with your taco or burrito or whatever you have and it's def doable. The hours are crazy! Don't think you will get food here at 245pm! They sell out quickly then no more....we will return for more fresh, organic food. ;)

  • Ricardo S.

I tried out this taco shop for the first time the other day and I was not impressed. I ordered the fish taco combo and I know its organic, so I knew it was going to be pricey, but $13 for two small tacos and a scoop of rice and beans?! Its really overpriced and the food is not filling. There are plenty of other taco shops in Leucadia that are much better and where you can get your money's worth. Lastly, the lady at the front was rude; upon telling her that I saw Haggo's on Triple D, she asked me if I lived in the area. When I told her I lived up in Oceanside, she said that there are plenty of places up there for me to eat at...had I not already paid, I would have left. Don't waste your time at this place.

Featured on Diners, Dives and Drive-thrus, this place didn't disappoint. Best fish burrito ever! I tried the catch of the day burrito with Sea Bass, and with the sauce and the cabbage and the extra avocado, all the organic ingredients harmonized perfectly. Get there before 1...they close once they run out of food. Not much parking, no restrooms, line to get into the small courtyard for a table. Well worth the stop!

My son and I both loved the fish tacos!

  • Lianna S.

Now that Haggo's was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, it's gone nuts! Haggo warned us a few weeks before it aired that they were going to get super busy and boy was he right. Your best bet is to get in there early-they are still a small operation and usually hit capacity around 2pm now and close up shop. As a loyal customer I'm bummed that it's a little more of a hassle to get my veggie or fish taco fix, but it's still worth the wait. They won't compromise their quality which is what makes Haggo's so awesome.

  • Yianni H.

The best fish tacos in North County! It is definitely my guilty pleasure. I usually escape away and go on my own. I am not willing to share this with my wife yet. Their ingredients are always fresh, and their flavor combinations are amazing!

I love everything about this place. My gf and I took a little day trip to Encinitas and I saw the yelp reviews for Haggos so we checked it out. We fell in love. Had the garden grill and fish tacos with rice and beans. Basically hot sex on a platter, the food was divine. The first thought that came to mind was "fresh". Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The ambiance is very cool with the cute little quirky chairs and decorations. I loved the fact that they have a nice selection of books. Awesome. I will make a point to stop by any time I'm anywhere near Encinitas.

Some of the most deliciously prepared fish tacos and burritos! So fresh, organic and well worth the wait in line. Kudos to the owner, cook. Can't wait to go back!

  • Paul P.

The food here is exceptional! A restaurant that uses organic and fresh food to create some flavorful combinations. I enjoy the pollo or chicken tacos and the Baxter Burrito. Don't let my tastebuds sway you any which way because everything here tastes amazing. The people here really do care about the experience and the food they prepare. The location is often busy so be patient and you will leave a happy customer on a full stomach. Thank you Haggo's for all that you do for your customers.

  • Melissa C.

I love this place because I love tacos, but they are usually too greasy for me to justify eating. This place actually serves a taco that doesn't make you hate yourself for eating it. Everything is organic; you can actually throw all your table settings into the recycling bin when you're done. My son and I split a chicken taco plate. It has two tacos with brown rice and red beans. It was delicious! I got my son the beef taco and he liked it, but was kind of full already. It does crowded and doesn't have enough tables, so I'd recommend going before 12 or after 1. I will definitely go back.

Get there early!!!! They run out of food and the line is long. The food was great. Ron Burgundy burrito I recommend this one. The crispy soft shell are good. There's no ALCOHOL that's why I gave it 4 stars I like my Mexican food with a beer.

I found Haggo's Organic Taco on the plane ride to San Diego watching Drive-In's, Diner's, and Dive's. My fiance and I decided we had to make this a stop. It was a 25 minute drive from where we were staying but totally worth it. The place is so small, but the flavor is giant. You'd never guess a little place would serve the best tacos I've ever had. The menu is amazing too! Ron Burgandy burritos, Uncle Rico quessadillas, yes...quessadillas. If you're a 20 something you'll understand and love it. If you are over 20 something, you'll still love it. You eat in this garden with a nice water fall, with cute chairs, and amazing tasting avacados! I'm going back there again soon!

Awesome pollo tacos. Quick service at12:30 and best outside seating!! Enjoy the organic menu and plentiful offerings.

  • Dylan H.

The quality and taste is outstanding. But the reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because my Seahagg burrito was soggy at one end because if the crema sauce. And I was burping that sauce all day long... Gross.

  • Victoria T.

I randomly stumbled onto this place. There was a group of people waiting before this place even opened! Good problem to have if you're the business owner. This place was delicious. Serene garden-like setting with many eclectic items. The entire menu is 98% certified organic. I had 2 chicken tacos served with beans and brown rice. It was okay. The flavors were mild and subtle. Overall not bad. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. As for organic foods, it's good.

Oh Wow! Erin Jackson, a food blogger in San Diego gave Haggo's as a recommendation and my girlfriend's family is very happy that she did. I got the fish taco, which as promised here, was amazing. The chicken burrito however was lacking in the quantity of meat as well as the flavour. I wish they had added more spices to the burrito but it seemed like i was eating more veggies than chicken. I'm not going to knock this place down for price, since I knew how much it was before going in - this place is expensive for san diego mexican food. The wait is what stops Haggo's from being a 5-star place. Despite there being only 5 people in line, it took us ~20 minutes to get our food. I would definitely try those fish tacos again and they have a customer for life with the gf's family.

I felt is was about time that I posted a review for this amazing surf shack. I tried for so long to keep it somewhat secret, only telling my closest friends about it. But now I have moved to New York City and felt they deserved a shout out. Plus I'm really excited to come home for Christmas and chow down on some tacos (seriously this is all I can think about and I plan on eating there pretty much every day). THEIR FISH TACOS ARE HEAVENLY. Seriously though, the BEST fish tacos I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Add a little avocado and they are even better. They are just so fresh and so freaking delicious. Haggo and his staff are so chill and super friendly. Service is pretty relaxed but that just gives you more time to kick back and soak up some sun in the garden/seating area. Thanks Haggo (and staff) for the delicious food and good vibes!

  • Anne B.

Haggos has delicious food. If you're vegetarian, I highly recommend the Garden Variety tacos. There can be a bit of a wait since the kitchen is so small. I usually try to call in my order before getting there to cut down on wait time. Food is always fresh, tastes good, feels healthy, and the seating area is fun and unique.

    (4)
  • Karla B.

Absolutely fantastic food, but highly, highly disappointed with how long I had to wait. Already hungry from a morning of surfing, was quite hangry to have to wait 45 or more minutes from walking in to be served food. Huge negative for a restaurant that I would have easily given 5 stars otherwise.

I live in Encinitas and went to Haggos for the first time today. The tacos were so fresh and delicious. The fish tacos were my favorite with the mango salsa. I will definitely be going back very soon. Best tacos in Encinitas!

I can honestly say that this was the best burrito I've ever had in my life. It was a flavor explosion! I have driven by since they opened and thought it looked cute but never stopped. It's my new favorite! It's very cute and casual decor also.

GREAT food...Heard about this place on food network so decided to try it out. Really small food truck place & takes some time to get your food so don't expect a speedy service... Having said that it's still the best tacos I've had... The food has a great fresh taste & the portions are just right.

Im afraid to leave a review b/c i love this place so much and its still got its locals only vibe -- but this place is so cool, so healthy and so local that I had to let everyone else know. Ive had the freshest fish burritos here and love the ecclectic seating area as well. It's def a great place and near our local farmers market which makes it a great way to spend our saturdays.

    (5)
  • Anonymous N.

Over Priced! The food is good but they charge an arm and a leg for it.

  • Brandon C.

It's a cool little shack and I love that everything is fresh an organic, but the halibut fish tacos did not impress me overall. They were light on the fish and could have used more seasoning. The sides didn't help the situation. I would give it a try if i was in the area, but i wouldn't drive out of the way to try it.

  • Steve F.

First time visit. I have been wanting to try the place for some time. Also, saw it on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. Unlike many of the DDDs, the quality of the food remains very high. It has not fallen into the DDD alumni mode, and quality goes down hill soon after the place is featured. A VERY casual place with a beach vibe to it. I ordered a seafood (halibut was the catch of the day), and a chicken taco plate. They were terrific. They use fresh, organic ingredients - and it shows. The rice and beans accompanying the meal were very good. You pay a bit more for the food - but I think it was worth it. Can't wait to go back and hopefully ahi will be the catch of the day. Definitely a recommended stop, and I certainly will go back.

The tacos are 5 stars. Easy. Super fresh and possibly my favorite fish tacos in San Diego so far (well, maybe tied with the fish tacos from the Tacos La Mezcla food truck). I really really want to give them 5 stars based on the food but the price, pace, and new location are telling me no. The old location was so charming and weird. I loved it. It made lunch feel like a magical hippie adventure. The new location is fine and I actually really liked sitting outside facing the street but I do miss the weird little trailer. What can I say? I'm resistant to change. I'm sure I'll get over it. I tried the new location last week and while I was happy to report that the food was just as delightful as remembered and there were more plentiful accommodations to park your booty (and, apparently/hopefully, now they won't run out of fish everyday?), the pace was even slower. To be fair, the girl at the counter said they are never that busy on Tuesday afternoons, but I was standing in line for 45 minutes. Forreal. Its a long time to wait for anything and that point at which your having a serious mental debate on I've-already-invested-25-minutes-of-my-life-should-I-lose-more-of-my-precious-life-clock-or-cut-my-losses can be anxiety inducing. Also potentially stressful is that the burrito costs $13.25? I know quality ingredients can add up, but sheeeesh. To be fair, I've never had the burrito and, much like the excruciatingly long wait, is probably worth it. I think once they work out the kinks and add some additional staff to expedite mission lunch, this place can be bumped to 5 stars.

The food tastes great. Has a great feel. The only negative is paying 10+$ for a small burrito.

This place doesn't need another review, but it was that good. I am compelled to share. Having grown up here in SD County, I am well versed in the fish taco. This, my friends, was the best fish taco I have ever had. I ordered two Cousteau tacos, which were Grouper today, with no modifications. Oh my sweet heavenly Ike, were they good. I even brought them home to eat, 10 mins away and they didn't get soggy. They were as fresh as the second they were born in that cute little shack of a restaurant. A beautiful and unique spiciness, and the crema and salsa were a heavenly marriage of flavor for my tongue places. I don't know how anyone could say this place is pricey. $4.50 for the freshest of the fresh fish tacos is hardly breaking the bank. Great for kids, but I'd imagine it fills up fast.

  • Livvy S.

Updating my review because It's been at least three years since I first tried Haggo's and the food somehow seems to be getting more delicious every time. I no longer work here so this is my mostly objective perspective...Wish I had the words to describe my love for these tacos!!!! Some tips: -ADD avocado -make sure to add crema (organic sour cream with cumin & lime) if your dish doesn't include it -ask for the salsa verde and habanero salsas!! -don't be in a rush when u come here... Relax and enjoy And don't forget to say thank you to the hardworking Haggo, Ramon, Aspen, & Morgan for such a delightful experience

Made a special trip to Haggo's (20 miles) and we enjoyed the food. A little pricy for tacos. Had the fish taco plate and it was tasty! They may be doing some construction... A large sheet was up in one area of the restaurant and music was blaring from behind it. RECCOMMENDATION: Go to Haggo's and enjoy the Fresh Organic Food!

  • Shawn S.

Not a bad place and appreciate the organic and fresh fare. They're also nice and good folks. The 3 stars isn't meant to be a slam at all. Just that the time to get food at a fast food place is incredibly long often. And, the taste and recipes are just not that interesting in terms of really wanting to go back. Nothing wrong with it and is go back due to ingredient quality, but just couldn't find flavor and be satisfied with the meal.

Haggo's, Haggo's, where fore art thy Haggo's!?!? Saw this place on Diners Drive-ins and Dives. It was right down the road from my place, so had to go check it out being that it was in the hood! Nothing but organic, non-GMO eats. Good enough for me, not that i'm too picky My wife and I were driving in the vicinity of where we thought the location was. We looked and looked, but couldn't find it. When I called to find the exact location, they were closed for the day. UGH! Not cool. So we tried again. The map app brought us to a location that there really wan't much there except a newer white building. While I was driving, my wife was looking up other information on Yelp to figure out the location. Luckily, a fellow Yelper posted a picture of the front door. OK, got it. They moved and the new location didn't have a sign yet. We went up to the door only to find out that they didn't open for a half hour. I felt like the woman in the Mervyns add with my face pressed up against the glass saying "open, open". As we were waiting, we saw one of the employees prepping the outdoor patio. She was wiping down the table/ counter tops and setting up decorative plants along the edge. Really excited to see that they take time to prepare for their guests and not just open the door and cook. As time passed, the top of the hour arrived and the owner opened the front door. He invited us in and asked if we had been in before. "Never", i replied and asked about some of the curious decor. There were pictures of movies including the "Bad News Bears" and "Ron Burgandy". He gave a little insight to the decor as we walked up to the counter to order. My wife ordered the Cousteau tacos, fish of the day served with organic red beans and brown rice. The fish in the tacos was fresh and tasty. Tacos were topped with mango salsa and a delicious cream sauce. I ordered a taco plate with one chicken and one steak taco. Both delicious. The meat was tender and juicy. I can't say enough about this new find down the street. I've heard stories about their old location being a simple food truck. Wish I could've visited then, but so glad I now know where to find them! Keep on Yelp'n!

Frequent here and generally a grand eating experience. Just had a fish taco with beans and rice which was 3 scraps of fish buried under cabbage. Tasty but wish it was more fish that I tasted at $4.50 a taco. Husband had the chicken taco plate which he enjoyed.

Fresh and Organic Tacos and Burritos. I had the Chicken Taco Plate. It was pretty good but I have had better.. Everything was compostable including the eating utensils . A little on the Pricey side for what you get. Maybe the burritos would taste a little bette and I can try next time. Fresh Fish of the day was Halibut. $11.25 for the Halibut Taco plate and $13.25 for the Halibut Burrito.

Food was ok, very expensive for a taco shop. I had fish tacos, they were ok nothing great. The rice was boring but very earthy, I'm sure it was healthy. Beans tasted like baked beans from a can. My wife had the quesadilla which was super skimpy on the filling. So many superlative taco shops in San Diego but this isn't one of them.

Haggo's was the perfect lunch during our mini San Diego Vacay this weekend. I mean how can you not want fish tacos by the beach?!! While this is not exactly at the beach or a great location really, they do have a lot of outside seating and a few tables inside which are pretty nice. The staff is super nice, very cool, works hard, great bunch. The menu sounds so good, if the prices were not so high I would have ordered one of each. We are talking $14 a burrito, $4.50 a taco and neither is large. But it is very fresh, innovative, full of flavor and extremely tasty, 5 stars for taste, service, selection and atmosphere, but due to the prices I really can only give 4 stars. My husband had the fish burrito and while I was obsessed with how good it was and ate half of his, hating myself for not getting fish at a place known for their fish tacos, $14 is insane, I could eat two, easy. I had the two veggie options, one with roasted veggies, at $3 the best priced item and amazing in flavor, so much going on for the fact that it is just veggies. The veggie burger taco at $4.50 I was excited about, locally made veggie patties and a bunch of other goodies, it just didn't pop quite as much as the all veggie one or the fish. When I come back I'd get myself the fish next time, it didn't get soggy in the burrito like most do, it was everything, best place to eat in the area by far and a must stop while in North San DIego!

Despite waiting for 30-40 minutes from the time I arrived to the time I got my food (long long line).....the food was very good. You can tell they pay special attention to their meats and marination. The organic factor is just icing on the cake. I see they are very friendly toward all of their customers and that added to the wait as they attended to every customer in line with full attention having only 1 cashier....but can't ding them for that. The only thing is it's definitely not authentic Mexican by any means but the food is very good. Would come back again and hopefully the fish won't be out this time so I can give that a try.

My only complaint would be not enough parking but it's not their fault. Tried the fish taco with mango coconut probiotic and it was a great lunch! Nice music and people ambiance with both an inside and outside! Weather was wonderful that day and everyone around seemed nice! Worth a try especially if you are new to the area! Great hidden gem!

The only bummer thing about this place is that they are not open on Mondays and close at 3. I've tried three different types of their tacos and they were all incredible!! I love that they are organic and non Gmo. If you are craving amazing fresh tasting tacos, you have to come here.

  • Evan L.

I came here on a Friday for lunch with some friends and we waited in line for about 10 minutes. I ordered the 2 fish taco special with rice and beans. The fresh catch of the day with Baja halibut and wow, was it good. The tortillas were very authentic but I do like them a bit hotter than what they were served at. It was very good though. If I'm back in the area I will be here to try the fresh catch of the day in a burrito.

This place is great! Perfect representation of Luecadia, nice cool spot to sit and have a healthy delicious meal that supports local people and farms! My first experience was great as you get to meet the owners that actually cook the food and are interested in your feed back . I will be making this my new favorite lunch spot .

I go to Haggo's weekly! I usually go with the garden fresh and beef tacos but have had multiple things on the menu, all tasty. I love the freshness, the atmosphere, and Haggo and April!! It is a true community vibe and love spending my lunch at Haggos!

Was so excited to try this place as it's nearby and I'm always looking for good Mexican. The service was slow and they forgot to put the salsa on the plate. The tacos were TINY and the meat was tough. The soup was good but it was a small serving for $5.50 and we had to wait for the tacos to get it even though we asked for it first as it was a cool day and all the seating is outside. I can see that there were people eating the brown rice and beans with avocado/veg tacos but not for $9.50...

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
