if you know anything about hercules, you'll know that you know nothing. there simply isn't much here and my reasons for going elsewhere for food are basic: i'm hungry and would like to eat something pleasant to my taste buds. however, there is exactly one place in this small town i would actually consider digesting before leaving: kinders. this meaty delight of a deli is in walking distance from where i live and i can't help but find myself here every "double-stamp tuesday" for a ball-tip sandwich. their meat is quality, their specialty sauces are unique, while their staff is always ready and friendly. if you've resorted to eating somewhere in hercules, please stop at kinders - as it is your best chance at having a satisfying meal for a decent price.

I love Kinder's!! This is my old reliable for those long days where everything seems to go wrong and all you need is something to eat that is meaty, rich and bold in flavor to rid of all the stress of the day. The famous ball tip is absolutely my favorite! I sometimes go for the blazin ball tip when I need an extra kick. This sandwich paired with a side of tequila lime sweet potato fries puts be in heaven! The potato salad and baked beans with cheese are also delicious sides. The service at this Hercules location is great! The employees are always friendly and helpful. Definitely a great stop if in this part of Contra Costa county!

BALL TIP & TURKEY BURGER! So fucking good. Ball tip: Soft sweet bread, super juicy tender tri tip, plain old mayo, shredded lettuce & tomatoes. This thing is perfection. Turkey burger: JUIIIICCCCCCCY. Love the wheat bun too.

The sandwiches are good, the chicken is good, the ball-tip is delicious. I had to dock them a few stars because one day they were out of ribs. It was mind blowing because this is Kinder's... it's like if KFC ran out of chicken. My favorite thing here though is their FRIES. Omg, they are like little high calorie slices of heaven. And do not eat them without dipping it into the fry sauce (bbq sauce and mayo). It'll change your life...

Kinder's is a great non-fast food lunch spot in the Hercules plaza. The food is tasty and fresh and the menu has a lot of variety. I know there's lots of rave about the ball tip, but I highly recommend the turkey burger. It's super flavorful, served on a wheat bun with all the fix-ins, and I'm already full halfway. Love the tequila lime sweet potato fries as well! The different bottled barbecue sauces for sale are perfect for a cookout or to just keep in your pantry. Customer service has generally been friendly and efficient, but expect some wait time at lunch and dinner peak hours. Also, they keep a clean and well-stocked establishment which is a plus.

Love everything about this spot. From the sandwiches, fries, the meat, bbq sauce, to the marinade. Every time I BBQ I make sure to slide through Kinders to swoop up the sauce and marinade. They even sell marinated meat that is ready to cook. Delicious.

Yum! Had the blazin' ball tip on sliced wheat (which was supposedly served with exxxxttrra hot bbq sauce that had absolutely no spicy kick to it) and the tequila lime sweet potato fries. Sandwich was good. Nothing special and not as good as New Deli down the street but good nonetheless. The tequila lime sweet potato fries were a bit salty and there were only a few times where I could really taste the tequila lime. Customer service was friendly and fast. I'll definitely be back to try the other menu items.

My go to spot for a New York steak sandwich! It's always cooked so perfectly! The steak is juicy and the bread just soaks up the BBQ sauce so each bite you take is just delicious. I've had other things on the menu as well such as the ribs , sausage, and the potato salad. All are equally as good. Service is always friendly, and food comes out pretty fast. If your in a hurry , you can phone in orders so you don't have to wait in line for too long. Other than that, a great eatery in Hercules. On a side note: I love how they assure you that they wash Thier hands prior to making your food. Love it! Ahaha

A so-so sandwich experience. My work has ordered from Kinder's on many occasions and I've never found it to be really good. Out of the 15 different times we've had them, none sticks out for anything other than bland. I eat it because it's free through work. I wouldn't buy one myself. Eek, I'm cheap sometimes.

01.14.14 with 1 other Kinder's never fails! we have been going to this location for over a year now, and every experience has been great! We have been recently pre-ordering on the phone and picking up and the service both on the phone and in the deli has been outstanding compared to many many other places. the food has been consistent over the year and combined with the great service, its what brings us back for more.

Dude, are you serious?! You ran out of ribs??? What kind of barbeque joint runs out of ribs??? After seeing the commercial on TV and noticing it was within driving distance, I went over to try the BBQ. After ordering, not only was I offered some saran-wrapped"tri tip" because they ran out of their specialty tip meat but then I was told they ran out of ribs! Sure it was :30 till closing but there was a crowd in the place and tons of raw meat in the counter! I don't think this would ever happen at any real BBQ place but there I was, getting apologies at the counter. Real awkward because everyone was standing around looking at each other deciding what to do without ribs or tri-tip. Sorry Kinder's my first impression was really disappointing. I may or may not come back.

I would give five stars for the sweet potato fries alone. I live for those fries. Unfortunately I have to drive about 45 minutes just to get them but every once in awhile it's worth it. The sandwiches are also good but I find myself putting too much bbq sauce because they are dry. The prices are a bit high. What keeps me coming back are those fries! If I could I would give this a 3 and a half stars but I decided to be nice and round up.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. I used to always get the Ribeye sandwich, but ever since I had the KINDER BURGER, that's all I get now. I usually get the burger with Bacon & Smoked Cheddar. On the side, I would have Sweet Potato Fries & their sauce of Kinder's BBQ & Mayo (which was like Crack because it was addicting!). I've had the Ball tip sandwich too which was good, but may be a bit too overwhelming with taste. Kinder's is my Go-To place for a good burger! If you go at lunch, my tip is to phone in your order, so by the time you get there it's either done, or half way through the process of being done.

Can you really sell a salad at a Meat Market/Deli/BBQ spot? Is that even legal? Or ethical? I was pretty impressed that they didn't spill bbq anywhere on my salad or toss in a full cow when I opened it up. I know its a little weak sauce of me to even think about ordering a salad at this kind of establishment but it was freakin good, really really freakin good. I got the BBQ chicken salad. I think there was a hit of BBQ in the dressing and the dry rub seasoning they put to season the chicken breast was off the chain' FO SHO! I was pretty full too and couldn't even finish the whole salad. The sit down restaurant is super clean, always and has a couple large televisions for football season as well. Also, I think a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger works there, or at least he left his cell phone there the last time I visited.

Busy but worth the wait! I love the deli sandwiches and every Thanksgiving we order our turkey here, it's that good!

I took my sandwich back because there's a strand of hair in it. She offers refund or another sandwich. How about both because I had to waste my time coming back on my lunch break. I opted for sandwich because I'm hungry but will never return to this location.

I fell in love with Kinder's BBQ sauce years ago, when Kinder's was hired to cater Chevron Corp events in Concord. I moved back to SF, but Kinder's has stayed on my mind. Family parties in the East Bay or Sac where tons of food will be provided, or en route to Vallejo or Vacaville - I have to stop at Kinder's! First off, GET THE SANDWICHES! Those are highly recommended. Your choice of bread, completely filled with your choice of meat... It's sooo good! I suggest the BBQ beef, rib-eye, even the hot link - not the ball tip which is what they're known for and here's why... I made the mistake of trying out something new, like the 2-meat combo meal. Ball tip, hot links and came with potato salad and beans (subbed for more potato salad.) The portions of meat came really small - I left hungry! The hot links were inhaled, the potato salad was average, but the ball tip was cold and gummy. NO extra BBQ sauce could save this ball tip - and Kinder's has got GRRREAT BBQ sauce, mild or hot! A good 4-star BBQ joint, but the ball tip just doesn't do it for me!

Best BBQ sauce, Best Apple smoked bacon breakfast sandwich, and best Fries ever in my life! Customer service was excellent and the atmosphere is just right for a sit down deli joint. Totally coming back!

Expensive price for average sandwiches. I have only tried the sandwiches, so I cannot comment on the other food. The sauce is really what makes the sandwiches here. There's the regular and the extra spicy (the one used for the blazing ball tip sandwich). Both are pretty good to give your food a nice kick. The sandwiches without the added sauce are ok--the famous ball tip is good but for $8.25 I expect better. The usual sandwich I get there is the Louisiana hot link, but lately I have noticed that it just... isn't as good as before. I'm not sure if there was a change of recipe or what, but I do feel that there has been a decline in quality. My boyfriend has also noticed this too when he ate his own hot link. Overall, this place it just "OK". If you haven't tried Kinder's and are in the area, it doesn't hurt to try it out.

My husband and I tried Kinders on Saturday. We had their famous ball tip sandwich and tequila lime fries. That was one of the best sandwiches we have ever had. The meat was tender, the bread soft. Perfect portion of lettuce and tomato, too. The fries - AWESOME! Loved the flavor and they were nice and crispy. We also ordered a couple of their tequila lime chicken for tonight's dinner and it was also very delicious. When I went in, on Saturday, to pick up our food (ordered by phone) the place was very clean and the staff friendly. We will definately be coming back - we want to try everything on their menu. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because the soda, from their machine, was very flat.

Boy do I wish that their portions were bigger! Their sandwiches are pretty good. Their meat is pretty good here! My husband bought family packs for camping and for that price of close to $100 with the meat already marinated, our camping trip was a breeze! Thank you Kinder's for the good stuff!

After spending close to 5 hours at a company meeting I told the owner of the company that I was hungry and suggested that we eat something. He suggested Kinder's for lunch and I was impressed when you first walk in.... the glass counter full of different steaks, prime ribs and other cuts of beef. They offer 3 primo beef sandwiches: Ball Tip, the Barbq Beef and Rib Eye steak. Plus an assortment of deli sandwiches too! I ordered the Ball Tip sandwhich and I was impressed by the flavorful beef, the tangy sauce and the large size. If someone said where is the Ball Tip location on the cow I would have no idea. My beef intelligence is in question, lack of knowledge. I'm going to ask the beef expert Brendan W. for some clarification. I am a big fan of Kinder Meats.

The balltip sandwich and the cheeseburger are absolutely delicious. The balltip is full of flavor thanks to their special bbq sauce and the cheeseburger is totally juicy with 2 1/3 pound patties cooked to your specifications. Medium rare for me. If you are really hungry they serve platters which includes meats of your choice from their infamous balltip babyback pork ribs chicken and hot links.

I love their mini sandwiches with baked beans and potato salad. Throw in the Valley Bible Church 10% discount card with double stamp tuesdays, ain't anythin' shorter than a good meal on a good deal. Roast beef w/ smoked cheddar is where it is at! Don't forget that cheese on the baked beans.

This was one of my favorite places to go to for lunch when I used to work in Hercules. My sandwich of choice is usually the RIB EYE STEAK SANDWICH (comes with a free bag of chips) - just under $10. If you want something less filling and cheaper, go for the BALL TIP sandwich (comes with free drink). I love the extra BBQ sauce they give you on the side too. On the days i don't feel like being a fatty (not very often, but it does happen!!), I order a mini deli sandwich - about $5. What a deal! The staff here is very friendly and courteous too. They really seem to like their jobs and are very efficient at taking orders and getting the line moving. It gets super crowded here during lunchtime, so a tip is to call in your order and go straight to the pick up counter. Another tip: Tuesday is double stamp day for the frequent buyer card, which means for every sandwich you buy, you get TWO stamps. Fill out all the boxes (i think there's 10 or 15, i can't remember) and you've got yourself a free sandwich! :)

WATCH your total and get receipt. I ordered two ball tip sandwiches plus one combo for $2.25 extra and they charged me $20.43...should of been &18.30. Nice profit for their servers. Last year I order a large hamburger order and they gave me one layer of fresh and the rest brown. I asked them to re-do the order.. Was late for picnic a d left and discovered at the picnic they only changed the top two layers and the rest was bad meat which I had to toss and be very short of meat for our party. Complained to manager and he couldn't of cared less. I'm done with Kinders.....makes me wonder what goes on preparing their meats.

This place has the best spicy bbq sauce I have ever had!!!! Had my very first experience a couple of weeks ago, and I have got to say this place wowed me. The employees all look to be young, but they're all really friendly! The place itself is weird. The set up is a deli/restaurant. But since they are a deli too, im guessing this is why haha. The food is AMAZING. Hands down, one of the best bbq places ive been to. Their food is smoked to perfection. I think the only thing they need to add on their menu is a combo sort of a thing. Something that i would've really wanted. Prices can be pricey when you're on a mcdonalds kind of budget, but the food is very well worth it. But hey, all bbq shacks are pricey right? Overall, this is a great place to grab a bite to eat. I was more than satisfied. Will be back most definitely.

This is the first time I have ever heard of this place, but it seems to be super famous AND packed. This is from reading all the signed pictures they have posted with celebrities. LOL My boyfriend took me here on a weekday as we just missed the lunch rush, but I saw so many office workers thoroughly enjoyed their meal with their coworkers. It was pretty nice to see that even employed people (meaning they have money) come here, which means this has definitely got to be quality meat. Anyway, we ordered the famous ball tip sandwich to share. It was way more than enough for two people considering we weren't that hungry. But the meal included a fountain soda, side of potato salad and cup of beans for about $10. Though the place looks like a real fast take-it-togo lunch spot, you definitely get a lot of choices in sides. I saw that their fruit salad looked really fresh and with a lot of different fruits. Anyway, I am not a big fan of bbq sauces on my meats, but the boyfriend swears that their sauce is AHHHMAZING and I trust him. The ball tip alone was good enough for me that I didn't have to smother it with any sauces. Pretty cool that you can also get the meat to cook at home, especially since I don't cook, the thought of me bringing it home and putting it on a grill to fool the boyfriend did cross my mind. So maybe one day my grilling can be as good as Kinders. HAHA

If you want a more meaty and more tasty sandwich than Togo's or Quizno's, then Kinder's is the spot! Get their crispy chicken, bacon breakfast sandwich, or the best one... The Ball Tip. I know any meat called "ball tip" sounds questionable, but DAMN is that sandwich good. Also, if you need some pre-seasoned meat for your grill, Kinder's is still your spot! Pick up some chicken quarters and throw em on the barbie... And Kinder's sauces are on HIT.... all of them. Don't forget 2 stamp Tuesdays.

Can't go wrong with the ball tip sandwich!! It's an awesome sandwich, the meat is good and what I really noticed is how soft their bread is.

Heard this place from my friend and went in for a taste. Ordered Ball Tip sandwich and 1 way combo with the quarter chicken. Impression: the chicken was very dry and a little salty on the skin. A little over cooked in my opinion. The 1 way combo comes with a potato salad and BBQ bean plus a drink. The potato salad is average at best and BBQ beans are little light in the taste. Onto the Ball Tip sandwich, which is their signature item on the menu. The sandwich by itself was ok if you add the BBQ source they give you. But you'd expect more from a $8.95 sandwich. It does come with a drink though. Next item is the lime favor fries. It is alright if use the dipping source they give you. But by itself is only mediocre at best. The place is clean and service was ok. Will not go there again and will not recommend.

I returned for another try. This place gets great reviews so I had to see if I was just being to harsh. I was not. The food is solid. I ordered the ball tip sandwhich again. This time with the hot barbeque sauce. I liked the hot sauce more than the basic sauce. You do get a lot of food if you order the meal. My biggest issue is with the way they handle ordering and paying. One person takes your order and then prepares it. You pay for it shortly after with the same person. If they just had one or two people taking orders and cashiering this could go much quicker.

The sandwiches, meat, and salads are akin to a grocery store. They are tasty, but offer nothing special and at this price, you can skip over to Lucky's or Trader Joe's to pick up bread, cheese, lunch meat and condiments for a few dollars less, and for the wait at this place, you'll be eating quicker than at Kinder's. Every time I've walked in here and ordered, there is always a crowd and chaos. Apparently, no one else finds this annoying enough to form a straight line or place tape on the floor to organize people. Custom meats? Quality is again similar to what you can expect at an average supermarket nowadays. In the bay area where we have so many better options for incredible beef, this Kinder's location fails.

  • Karla R.

With sandwiches, pre-cooked meats, pre-marinated meats and a butcher, Kinder's is a great place to stop if you're driving by. Ball Tip and Blazin' Ball Tip sandwiches are both great- I suggest get it with Dutch Crunch, their Jalapeño Garlic Onion mix and hold the mayo.

Very busy so I do a phone order. Parking sucks but that's not their fault. I'd prefer a bbq sauce with less sweet and more smoke. Great staff.

The infamous ball tip never disappoints me when I'm hankering for a good sandwich. Straying far away from the bay area, I found myself here one morning as I was trying to find a place to grab breakfast. I've gone to other Kinder's locations before and I was pleasantly reminded that this location existed as I drove by. Went in to be welcomed by the people behind the counter and promptly ordered myself a breakfast sandwich... but wait.. I was just talking about the ball tip sandwich.. Well, needless to say, I came back here to grab me a yummy lunch.

Ball tip sandwich with hot sauce. It's the only sandwich I have tried at Kinders because it's really good and usually cheaper than the rest of their menu. I don't go here often, but the food is great every time I go.

I've been here three times and I've ordered three different sandwiches with the expectation that each one may make up for the last, but sadly, each time I was quite disappointed. In fact, I have no idea why people would give this place more than three stars. Is it better than Subway? Absolutely. However, it's also twice as expensive as Subway. Is it twice as good as subway? That's a stretch. First of all, the meat. I've ordered the ball tip, blazin' ball tip, and their bbq sandwich (I think that was the name). Each one, the meat was tasteless. Their sauce is delicious, but it can't make up for tasteless meat. Secondly, their bread had no flavor. I felt like I was eating styrofoam. The lettuce and tomatoes were also without flavor. I give them a pass for the tomatoes as it's not the season for them, but the lettuce, far from crisp, has been soft and bland. I wanted to like this. But other than their sauce, for almost 10 bucks, there are much better sandwich shops out there.

  • Taye N.

This place has the best ball tip sandwich I have ever tasted. The BBQ sauce is awesome. I like mines spicy so I get the hot BBQ sauce. The ball tip is soft thinly sliced beef on a soft roll. The roll itself is really really soft and compliments the beef really well. One bite and everything just seem to melt in your mouth. The combination of mayo+bbq+softbread+Yummi Beef makes the sandwich ooooh soo yummi. The sandwich is big enough to get you full. I think if your a girl tho I think you should share one sandwich. The only problem with this place it is always busy. They do not have enough people serving you so expect to wait or make a phone order. Expect to pay around 10 bucks for the sandwich and drink.

A friend of mine has been telling me for a long time about this place. I have had some of their rubs and sauces which I have to admit are very good. I finally went in and had their famous ball tip sandwich. It is by far one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The meat was amazing. The bread the sandwich was on was fresh and soft. The sauce was the familiar greatness that I enjoyed and together it was wonderful.

Dear God, It's me, ...your bestes rib lover! Yey, so thanks for blessing us with Kinders Meat and Deli. I would say that *** and *** can go to hell now that I've been baptized in Kinders BBQ sauce...again, but then that would make me a bad person wouldn't it :| If you go here be sure to get the Tequila Lime Ribs, no need to get a side of fries/chips, you'd rather chew your fingers off after getting K's sauce all over them ;) trust me, im still trying to grow some back.

Ball Tip! Ball Tip! Ball Tip! with BBQ sauce The only sandwich worth getting at Kinder's! Top it off with potato salad, baked beans, and a soda = a satisfying lunch or dinner! Yum!
