A bunch gals enjoyed Happy Hour here. The service was excellent, the food was very good. Love the beef kabobs. The cocktails were original. Everyone had a really good time. The owner stepped out & gave us all a grand welcome. I highly recommend this resturant.

My wife and I were able to celebrate our date night at Bacchus House wine Bar & Bistro. Amazing atmosphere. The Staff was awesome from the Host, Bussers, waiter and Eric the owner. The food was first class and extremely yummy. My wife and I will be recommending Bacchus House wine Bar & Bistro to everyone we know. 5 Star Atmosphere, 5 Star Restaurant

This is one of those places you just wanna hang out in. The vibe here is like that old school family run restaurant with a modern, contemporary, upbeat feel. Private tables, incredible decor and a very attentive staff made the experience effortless and comfortable. The owner even came by to check in on us. You could tell he loved what he did and so did the chef. I had the special: filet mignon with crab...perfect! I let the waiter pick my cabernet and his pairing was spot on. Even though this place just opened a few months ago, I can see why it's getting harder and harder to find a table. And, it's right here in Folsom. I'll definitely be back, and soon.

Three stars for the food, five for the service! We got the burger, sweet potato fries & risotto. Veggies were fresh, typical pub burger. Dipping sauces for the fries were tasty. Perhaps we ordered the wrong things, and other items would deserve higher ratings. I'd come back to try some of the small plates. The mojito was tasty, the margarita so-so. Overall a fine place for dinner. Justin our server was top notch.

First time here since changed from Bidwell Street Bistro. Had a great dinner with only one "hiccup." My sister had to send back her burger and it too a long time to come back. They did comp it which we were happy about. The atmosphere was great as it was decked out with Christmas decor! We ordered Chimney Rock Cab 2005 and it was excellent! Dessert was yummy too, will definitely go back!

Holy cow - yum! My husband and I went last night and I can't wait to go back. We enjoyed the sampler plate for an app. We were practically licking the plate, especially from the wild boar sausage (who knew boar could be so good?). Halibut was delicious and I couldn't stop myself from taking bites of my husband's prime rib. Ambiance was great and I really enjoyed all of the Halloween decor ;) I found a great local wine and looking forward to tracking down CG D'Arie's tasting room. My husband said it was one if the best dirty martinis that he's ever had (and consequently ordered another). Service was fine, could have been a little more attentive but we weren't in a rush. So waiting a bit for our second drink wasn't that big of a deal. The owner did introduce himself, which is a nice touch that is missing from most restaurants these days. My only complaint would be that the table bread wasn't very good. So thankfully I didn't fill up on the bread and was able to eat the rest of my meal, which was sooooo awesome.

First-time visitor. We went to celebrate my wife's B-Day. Check for me, my wife , my 16 year-old and 10-yr old daughter was $175. Food portion was 70% of what it should have been. Very small portion main Entrées. I left hungry. I ordered the beef bourguignon special. It had exactly (3) pieces of beef in it. Cost? $29 a plate. I ordered the wine flight. Nothing special here. Tasted no better than the wine I buy for $10 a bottle across the parking lot at Trader Joes and it didn't pair with the food in any special way. Desserts were bland. There was nothing sophisticated about the flavor. Could have been off-the-shelf. Just a ham-fisted attempt at being a fancy restaurant in my opinion. Oh btw, it was my wife's B-Day. Did they bring out a dessert for her? No. Will we be back? No. Alternative choice? I'd opt for Sienna in this range locally. Food there is as good enough but they charge less and it's a much more comfortable setting...literally. The chairs and stupid mosh-pot tiled tables and cheap outdoor furniture chairs at Bacchus are stupid cheap and uncomfotable. Poor and young inexperienced wait staff. They say all the cliché things at all the wrong inappropriate times. I expected more for what I paid. Sorry Bacchus...when you step your prices to the big-time ...expect big-time reviews...no hidden gem here...walk on by folks....NOTE: the reply post i got in return from the owner was quite nasty accussing me of trashing 99% of all retail establishments which is false. Evidently, the owner of Bacchus House believes customers should be silienced and have no opinions on the meal they paid for. Like I said, "Meh. I've experienced better."

We went to Bacchus House to celebrate my birthday. We emailed and asked for reservations for two and got a prompt response. My husband and I split the heirloom tomato and proscuitto salad, and it was very good. We each ordered the prime rib at the recommendation of our waiter and he did not steer us wrong. The prime rib was cooked to perfection and was tender; the best prime rib I've ever had. It was served with mashed potatoes and green beans (my husband asked them to sub asparagus and they did without hesitation). I also had a glass of pinot noir with my dinner and was pleased with their very reasonable wine prices. Overall an excellent meal. We will definitely be back.

Amazing place! The Buffalo wings are the most authentic in the area (I'm originally from Buffalo, NY - I would know). Also had the prime rib panini special. Absolutely melted in your mouth. Great local beer on tap. I really can't say enough good things :)

My family had our birthday dinner at Bacchus House, Folsom, CA. Chef Victor made special dinner recommendation. OMG, love, love, love dinner. I can't rave enough about the fabulous steak and shrimp dinner. Everything was perfect. I went back for late lunch and had the delicious fish tacos. I sat out in their outdoor patio. Love restraurant's elegant and warm ambiance. The staff are efficient and frieidly. Owners were onsite and engaged in the operation. Great place for family dinners, birthdays, meetings, or just have coffee/wine/drinks with family and friends. We had such a great, wonderful, and over the top lunch/dinner experience here. I loved it all if you cannot tell. I definitely recommend this restraurant.

Best dining experience ever. Beautiful decorated inside and outside. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Our waiter was great, he kept our glasses full our empty plates cleared. The soup was fantastic, our dinner was delicious, and filling. Great selection of wines. Next time i go i will definately save room for dessert. All around great evening and we will be going back again and again. This is a great place for friends to come for lunch or happy hour, or a special night out.

So Friday night!! We arrived here like 6:30pm they are busy! We came inside and we wait like 4min to notice someone that they have customers waiting. no one HOST in there to GREET T us lol.. And we saw her refilling water to all customers! Anyways so the place is small not so big so if you are going here BIG purse is not good lol .. Because of the small space of their tables.. So our server is so entertaining but still they keep waiting us to arrive our orders. The food menus are bit pricey but worth it. My boyfriend and I tried to ate different because we're always eat "sushi" lol so we like our ordered but we HATE IT when we wait for so long!! First order: we wait like 15-20 minutes we're both hungry 2nd order: our dessert came 20min :/

I brought my mom here for Mother's day just to try something new. I had high hopes based in the great reviews. SERVICE: The service was awesome and our waiter knew the menu like the back of his hand (this is always appreciated). FOOD: The food was just so-so. I ordered the special- Chilean sea bass on top of mashed potatoes. Sea bass is my favorite protein of all time. Mine was overcooked so it wasn't the typical buttery, melt in your mouth texture. I was bummed. My mom got the prime rib, which she loved! You really can't go wrong with prime rib. And it was HUGE. Definitely worth the price! My dad got new york steak- which he also loved. But my dad has never met a steak he didn't like. :P For dessert, we got the sampling trio and the berry plate (highly recommended by our waiter). The desserts were also a big disappointment. Nothing very impressive, came off a little sloppy and a bit like an afterthought (which was surprising since I heard there is an on-site pastry chef here). The berry plate had literally 2 strawberries and a few blueberries and raspberries. The only reason they can get away with charging full price for this is because they spread it out on a giant plate so it looked like a full dessert. However, if you put everything in a bowl, it would probably anger a lot of people. The dessert trio had a slice of cheesecake, a small creme brulee and a small bowl of frangelico "mousse". While the cheesecake and creme brulee were satisfactory, the mousse really just looked (and tasted) like someone squirted simple whipped cream into a bowl and called it a day. All in all: Minus some of the food flaws, my family had a great experience here :) 4 stars! SIDE NOTE: This had to be said. There's a seriously gorgeous server here who looks like he belongs in a Calvin Klein underwear ad. You know who you are!!! #sorrynotsorry

I had the pleasure to enjoy an amazing meal with great service at Bacchus House the other night. I enjoyed a extremely tasty variety of dishes from the menu. I started off with one of my favorite cocktails a Grey Goose Martini a bit dirty with three olives. Along with my martini I enjoyed hot amazing Crab Cakes for an appetizer, Clam Chowder Soup, a delicious Prime Rib dinner ( better than Lawyers in Beverly Hills) and a Bread Pudding desert with Vanilla and caramel sauce that was out of this world. I would highly recommend Bacchus House to everyone! It has to be one of the top three Resturants in Folsom.

After visiting Baachus I am extremely perplexed by most of the positive yelp reviews for this place. I did not have a good experience. First, I'm not really sure how this place qualifies as a wine bar. Yes, they do have wine but no more than most restaurants. With the number and variation of wines they carry pretty much any restaurant could call itself a wine bar going by their standard. Second, the service could not have been slower. I went on Friday night around 7pm. We sat down at 7. It took 20 minutes for the server to come over and take our drink order. Another 10 to deliver our bottle of wine (30 minutes sitting so far). We placed our dinner order as soon as the wine came and it took almost a full hour to get our food. My mother got the shrimp salad and I got the vegetable risotto. How long does it take to prepare some lettuce and rice? We were absolutely starving and by the time we got our food we had gone through 2 bread baskets and drank our bottle of wine (since we'd been there for an hour and a half by the time the food arrived). So we had no wine to go with dinner and we were a little annoyed by this point and didn't want to order more. The worst part is that we received no explanations or apologies for the ridiculous wait time. An update would have been nice. When we finally did get our food my mother said "wow, that took a while, I hope this is good!" She said it in a joking manner but obviously commented on the crazy wait time. The waiter didn't bite, made no comment on the hour delay and just set our food down. Nice. Sadly, our food was so not worth the wait. The risotto resembled soup more than risotto (it actually wasn't bad, but risotto isn't supposed to be served in broth to my knowledge). My mother's shrimp salad was very disappointing. It had all of 3 shrimp in it. There were a few positives I must point out to be completely fair: the hostess, Dakota, was just a doll. Two, the outdoor patio was pretty decent. All in all, I paid over $100 for a bottle of wine, some soupy risotto and three shrimp in lettuce. Thumbs down.

Attended the C.G. Di Arie Wine Makers Dinner last night and as usual, it didn't disappoint! This was the third such event I've joined and each was better than the last. I'm not usually a fan of foie gras (duck liver), but the crostini was light and flavorful. Followed with the grilled asparagus/wild arugula salad with salty prosciutto and a little dollop of burrata; the perfect balance. Both paired nicely with the passionate vitner's Sauvignon Blanc. A friend was worried about the pepper crusted lamb chop having recently had a bad experience at another restaurant and never really liking the gaminess the meat offers, but he was blown away by the mild yet flavorful taste of the cut. And wagyu steak, c'mon, what's not to like and Chef Victor cooked to perfection like always. As much as I liked the protein, the sides on both dished might have been my favorite; heirloom bean ragout with crispy shallots/pancetta and the sweet corn pudding, delicious. The two wines with the mains, a Zin and Cab, shan't be overlooked though. They were so good that I brought a bottle of each home, you must visit the tasting room to really experience Chaim's love for wine making. And if you haven't yet experienced the awesomeness Eric and his team offers, I highly recommend visiting Bacchus House, kudos guys!

Had a really nice dinning experience here with friends. We stopped by on a Thursday evening and received great service, had very nice food, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very welcoming. I really appreciate the local restaurant scene as there are very few locally owned dining experiences around the Folsom area. Bacchus House is one of those. I very much enjoyed the Prime Rib, the Appetizer Sampler plate, and the Bread Pudding for desert. A good variety of wine selections that went well with our dinner and at a fair price, but the wine selection is not huge. Also, Eric the owner stopped by and introduced himself to us which is always a nice touch from local restaurants. Would highly recommend if you want to take a date for a nice dining experience. Will definitely be going back.

We finally got around to trying Bacchus House. My wife and I enjoyed Bacchus' predecessor at this location and the Yelp reviews were quite positive so we were looking forward to a pleasant experience. So much for expectations. We arrived around 6pm on Friday without a reservation and were informed by the hostess that there would be no problem getting a table for two. We opted to have a drink at the bar first. Two things struck us immediately. First was the piano music emanating from an area adjoining the bar. It was LOUD. Second was the decor. What a mess; busy and overdone. Above the bar was some sort of faux tree branch abomination with flowers and butterflies. I sat at the corner of the bar and literally had my vision blocked by an imitation butterfly. After a few minutes the bartender acknowledged us with "what are you crazy kids up to tonight?". We're middle aged but, OK, whatever. He then brought over a placard with drink specials and appetizers and meandered off. We sat waiting for him to return to take our order for the next 10 or 15 minutes while he yenta'd it up with other patrons and served people who had arrived after us. My wife and I exchanged a knowing look - things were going down a disquieting path. Just then the piano cranked up a few more decibels with a rendition of "Great Balls of Fire". OMG give me rock, techno, house, industrial, alternative, punk, grunge, rap ... anything other than 50's rockabilly. And then for the death blow people in the adjacent room began singing along which brought this hideous cacophony to a whole new torturous plane. In my 50 plus years on this planet I've amassed far too few nuggets of wisdom. But here is one that has served me well: Life is too fucking short to suffer voluntarily. And so we left. We walked to Manderes which is nearly next door and had a pleasant dinner. I gave a rating of 2 stars because we obviously didn't try the food and I hate to skew their rating excessively based on what might have been an anomalous experience. That said, we won't be going back.

We visited on a very busy Saturday night and were quite impressed with the efficient service and delicious food. We started with cocktails and the complimentary bread. Ordered a special appetizer of Split Pea Soup. The soup was hearty and chock full of flavor. It was a bit salty but that did not deter me from sopping up all remnants with that complimentary bread. The house specialty Prime Rib was perfectly cooked medium rare. It was well seasoned and complimented nicely by the jus and horseradish. Well done Bacchus House or should I say medium rare?

Dinning at the restaurant with a garden ambience is definitely different. I loves all the decor but my date hates them and thinks the over decorated the place. Had calamari & flat bread appetizer, loves the fried battered lemon slices mixed in with the calamari which is a new twist & never have seen that before. Entree is just the right portion for me. Staff were very friendly & would definitely go back!!

Bacchus House is one of those places where my husband and I always feel - not only welcome, but like we're highly esteemed guests. We popped in to the restaurant without a reservation on Wednesday evening, and instead of just seating us in the main dining room, Eric (one of the owners) invited us to join a special Wine & Food Pairing event with Merlo Family Wines, that was going on in their Bacchanal Lounge. Even though we came in late, the wait staff and chef made sure we got all of the tasting courses to go with the lovely Merlo wines, and they didn't rush us through them. And though all the courses were wonderful, I remember the ribs in the entree course the most - Chef Victor should market that barbecue sauce - it was just so luscious & sweet & peppery, all at the same time, and the meat just fell right off the bones! Heavenly!! We also got to try one of the new Pastry Chef's desserts (mixed berry cobbler with a delicious pineapple sorbet! There were nuts and coconut and it was all just so YUMMY!). Can't wait to come back for more!

Once again a delicious lunch! Visualize this, succulent shrimp on top of angel hair pasta. All this is drizzled with a creamy Meyer lemon beurre blanc sauce. But we don't stop there, also nestled are grilled cherry tomatoes which burst with a touch of acid and sweetness. 2 of my friends had their tender and juicy prime rib sandwich. Another friend had their blackened salmon tacos , delish along with a cup of black beans, what more could you ask for. Also one friend had the seared ahi salad, with a delicious asian dressing. Chef Victor stopped by our table checking that at all was well. Three hours just flew by with Great food, good friends and a great atmosphere.

Awesome place to go after a long day at work. Loved the food there, I had the risotto and demolished the whole thing. The wine was pretty good as well but the ambiance was probably what had me the most intrigued. Definitely worth checking it out, you won't regret it!

LOVE this place! The food - the ambiance - the décor! I have been here 3 times so far - two with work groups for lunch and one with my Aunt for her Birthday. Off the lunch menu I have tried the Ruben, the Chicken Sand and the French Dip. ALL were amazing! (and my favorite is a tie between the Ruben and the French Dip - the prime rib is phenomenal !) My co-workers tried various things and were all very satisfied with their dishes as well - the seared Ahi salad looked amazing! My aunt had the pan roasted Chicken Breasts - Said it was one of her favorite meals! The sauce was excellent! And Brie Cheese Puffs ..... SERIOUSLY ?!? The owner - very considerate and receptive to feed back as well. I could tell he cares about the experience of the customers .. We are heading back for Mothers Day Brunch ! So happy they are here

As some out of towners in Folsom we were grooming Yelp for the good places to go. Bacchus house met our expectations of a cozy yet gourmet dinner. The place was not packed at all for a Saturday night, the service was excellent. My boyfriend enjoyed his prime rib (HUGE portions) and I enjoyed a chicken caesar salad and the appetizer sampling. The boar sausage was delicious!!! There were many servers and young men working the place and we felt well attended to. It was in a strip mall across from Target which made for some easy shopping after. The decor was kitschy but gave it a unique flavor!

A good dinner house and excellent place to hold a private event. Service is efficient and everything we tried was very very good. We loved their calamari, and their halibut. Both of the desserts were fine. Decor is very much in keeping with the Roman "bacchus" theme, with replicas of Greco-Roman statues that were very much like the ones we saw in Rome, Italy. The new owners have done an excellent upgrade to the former "Bidwell Street Bistro." We are fans!

Beautiful atmosphere. Excellent staff. We happened upon this place for a private event and though the night was somber the environment was perfect. From the food to the lighting, the drinks. It really was a perfect place to share happy memories in a reverent space. We plan to return for sure. Very special.

Service was excellent , food was amazing (compliments to the chef), great atmosphere, and a great wine selection. Can't say enough good things about this place. Easily the best meal I've ever had in a restaurant. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a high end dining experience. I look forward to eating here again frequently.

I enjoyed my second experience at this hidden jewel in Folsom last night. Again I wasn't disappointed. Atmosphere: the place was crowded but was able to seat us without reservations. We were lucky because it was still early so I suggest reservations. Very busy but not too loud. We were able to have good conversation at our table of four. My only complaint are the tables. Patio style that seem to find your knees every time you scoot close to the table. Ouch!!! Service: the service was fantastic. Our server was attentive throughout the night and joked with us just enough to make it comfortable but not overbearing. He made great suggestions about the menu. Food: let's start with the Appetizers. The sampler is the best bet with an order of pork belly. I have tried pork belly at various high end restaurants and this was the best. Melts in your mouth. We had the prime rib, bay scallops, and Alaskan salmon. All entres were top notch and we shared around the table. No complaints on portions or taste. I would give the food 5 stars on both visits. Dessert was excellent. Again the sampler is the way to go. Price: the prices are not low but are very reasonable for the quality and service. There is a $15 corkage fee but that is the norm at most places. Our group of four with 3 appetizers, 4 entres, and 3 desserts ended up with a bill of $198 before tip. Very reasonable considering the quality of the food, portion sizes, and quality of the dessert. This is a hidden gem in Folsom and will be giving other local restaurants a run for their money. We will definitely become regular patrons.

We were taken to this delightful Bistro by local friends and shared several small plates, Slow Roasted Pork Belly with Mission Fig Compote was exquisite, the other must try was the Grilled Wild Boar Sausage. The Bread Pudding was better than moms. Staff was right on with service and Chef was amazing. Food was so amazing I returned the following day with another local friend for lunch. The Shrimp Stuffed Portobello and Prime Rib Sandwich were both incredible & just had to have the Bread Pudding with Carmel Sauce & Vanilla Bean Ice Cream again. The ambiance was memorable and I look forward to the opportunity to return when visiting from my home state of Idaho.

My family and I are excited to write a review of our newborn Daughter's recent "Red Egg and Ginger" Celebration at Bacchus House this past Saturday. We easily reserved private Banquet Room and were able to provide our own decorative touch for this very symbolic event and showcased a family slideshow on the t.v. monitor during the party. Prior to event, we worked hand in hand with Chef Octavio and manager Meeshal to create special limited menu with enough variety to cater to my family and friends specific tastes. On the night of the event, Meeshal provided exceptional service as our head server. She specifically showed great attention to detail while displaying great charm with kids, which was perfect balance for such an elegant setting. I highly recommend the Halibut and Bacchus House for Private Events!

This place is definitely a hidden gem. My husband and I went here for brunch and it was fantastic. I had the eggs Benedict and husband had the scramble. My eggs Benedict was the best I have ever had. My husband loves the smokes jack that was on his scramble, but best of all for him were the potatoes. He wants to mimic them now. We will definitely be going back. Oh and to top it off they have great champagne drinks.

We asked Eric and Chef Victor to put together some dishes for a Baby Shower. For you who do not know, they also do wonderful catering services. They put together a wonderful menu. A great summer salad, vegetarian pasta and a to die for Macaroni and Cheese. It was ready for pick-up when promised and this made my party so much easier. All of the guest were so impressed with the quality and freshness of the food. Thank you so much.

A friend and I meant to try Manderes next door, but they were closed for a private event. We decided to give what we thought would be a glorified wine bar a shot, and it ended up being one of my favorite restaurants in town. The decor is interesting and fun, but not tacky or cheesy. The tables were thoughtfully arranged to provide a sense of privacy even in a room full of other diners. The service was very good. Efficient and pleasant without being annoying. Wine service was knowledgeable and helpful. The food was very nicely done. Excellent presentation. I ordered a filet, my friend an ahi small plate. The filet was cooked rare exactly as ordered. The sides were interesting but nothing amazing. Portions were adequate. The overall experience was very positive and I look forward to visiting again. Prices were in line with other quality dining options in the area, and of course somewhat dependent on your wine selection.

Simply amazing!!!!!! Everything from the decor, service, wine list and the food. My father was visiting from out of town and he asked me to find a nice place he could entertain his colleagues. I had heard wonderful things about the restaurant. They lived up to their reputation. I had the scallops on a bed of vegetable risotto. I intended to share it withy father... But he could not get it away from me. The other guests had the halibut, the salmon and the beef bourguignon. Everyone raved about their meals. The service was second to none. I highly recommend everyone visit and support this new gem in Folsom!

The ambiance is really pleasant, the service staff are friendly and attentive, there are a wide variety of menu items that I really like and a good wine selection both at very reasonable prices, and there are often interesting and engaging people to interact with at the bar. I vote Bacchus House as one of the best dining options in Folsom, with my score and with my wallet. It's interesting how different people have different needs and expectations. I was seated next to Dorbin Z. And his wife when they sat down at the bar last Friday. You can read their review, which is not positive. I experienced the same decor, (which I find to be a big improvement over its predecessor), listened to the same rendition of Great Balls of Fire (which was energized but not so loud that I couldn't easily converse with the people sitting on the other side of me; and to me much preferred to punk or techno by a long shot -each to his own). I enjoyed my evening, they chose to leave. Each to his own...

I called on Friday to see if I needed reservations, the Hostess said they were booked. I asked if they had open seating at the Bar, she said yes, but its filling up fast. Normally, I would just go somewhere else, but I thought we would risk it. When we got there 15 minutes later, there was no one at the Bar! Not sure what the Hostess was talking about but it almost cost them a couple of customers that night. My Wife and I ended up having a full dinner at the Bar. Started with the Three Cheese Plate paired with an amazing Chardoney. It was a fantastic combination. We moved on to a great house salad. We ordered the special which was Sea Bass. It was perfectly prepared. After that, we decided on the Dessert Sampler, paired with a nice Port. This topped off the great experience we had. The Wait Staff was very attentive and made sure everything was perfect. Can't wait to go back. We'll bring some friends next time.

Great food! The risotto was excellent, and the cheese plate was surprisingly plentiful. Good service, nice decor, and reasonable prices for the quality food. The addition of an outdoor seating area is a plus too. Perhaps our new favorite spot for dinner in the area, and we will be back soon!

In regards to the negative comments from the two star review from Dorbin Z that was posted about their experience on Friday the 5th. Personally I'm very offended that two adult people did not have one good thing to say about anything. It's pretty obvious that nothing could have pleased these two. The piano music was wonderful, in fact we were seated in the main dining room and were drawn to the wonderful sounds that were being emitted from that grand piano. Everyone in the room were so excited about the piano music and the pianist was so accommodating with his music so that we could sing along. We plan on coming on the first Friday of the month to enjoy the music. It will be happy hour and my favorite is their buffalo wings and Fuji apple and white cheddar cheese salad.

This was the most amazing dining experience in a very long time! Beautiful decor, gracious and professional staff. And Hands down the best steak dinner followed with heavenly desserts. I have no doubt that Bacchus House will continue to be a huge success. Thank you much Eric, chef Victor and Trevor!

(This is from August 8th, I posted this review under the previous restaurant name...but now that I see they have their page updated...I felt it only right to put all of their praises on their rightful page!! so without further adieu!!!) I honestly can not rave enough about this place!!! It is top notch! We were doing a progressive dinner last night with a couple of our most favorite peeps on the planet, and this was our second stop! We started out at another spot in Folsom for wine and appetizers and got running a little bit behind when all was said and done. We were to be at Bacchus House for a 7:45 reservation, but with getting to the first stop a little later than planned, and having a tough time finding Bacchus House, we didn't arrive until 8:45. I called them to find out where exactly they were and the lady on the phone gave me perfect directions, and during this conversation, never once mentioned that they were closing at 9pm. As I stated before, we arrived at the restaurant at 8:45 and the hostess realized I was the one that had called and asked for directions, and said she was glad we found it. She then asked if we wanted to be seated inside or outside...we elected for outside and were so glad we did...the patio was absolutely beautiful, with a nice fountain, and statues...very peaceful...especially since we were the only table out there! It wasn't until I went inside...that I noticed the sign on the door said "Closed" that was when I realized they closed at 9. Not one person from the hostess to the server had ever made a big deal about the fact that they were closing! Never once made us feel like we were an inconvenience or that we had to hurry! Quite the contrary! Everyone made us feel so welcomed and were so happy to serve us. Even one of the owners, Eric, came out while were eating dinner to introduce himself, and to see how we were doing! (This restaurant is a partnership between he and the chef!) We told him that we were very pleased with everything from the service to the food! He was delighted with our feedback and reiterated that there was no need for us to rush, to please continue enjoying ourselves and finish our meals and wine! As far as dinner goes... I enjoyed the halibut special...it was beyond delicious, my husband had the prime rib...he loved it! Our framily had the salmon with pasta dish and the New York steak! We all enjoyed our meals...not much, if anything left on our plates!! The wine selection was fantastic and a couple of us got the "red flight" which was delicious! We were so excited that we found this place! So happy to uncover a spot that truly values it's customers and exemplifies what people are looking for when they go out to a nice meal! As much as I hate to have this place "discovered" by the masses...I seriously hope this place gets discovered and enjoyed! This place deserves all of the success in the world! I'm looking forward to many more dining experiences with Eric and his crew!

A big 5 stars all the way 'round. Good food & service at reasonable prices. My wife really liked the red and/or white wine flights for $10 each. I liked the local (Auburn Alehouse) draft beers & the fact that they were reduced in price during happy hour, even on Saturday. The place is warm and comfortable with a good vibe. There is outdoor seating with patio warmers, and that area looked great, but it was a bit too cool to give it a try last night. Another time. The restaurant was well decorated with a fall color theme which gave it a good feelling. We were greeted by the owner, Eric, who made us feel right at home. Nice smile and a firm handshake. It all felt good, and we'll go back.

what can I say about this place? My _ife and I got married there on 2 6 15. Meshelle is the manager there and could not have been better to deal with. The food is awesome, best clam chowder I have ever had. 10 stars, you will not be disapointed.

From the moment my gf and I walked in we knew this place was different. Elegance, sophistication, and above all else intimacy at every table really set the mood for our experience. The components of each dish we had were thoughtfully selected for a unique experience to the palate. I ordered the chicken dish which had a perfectly crisped skin and was served atop a pasta with a unique use of capers and light sauce that built the flavor of the chicken dish elevating an otherwise simple cut of meat to that of a world class restaurant. As for the drinks we ordered the Red wine flights and there were three glasses with very distinct contrasting flavors. Each delicious and with more in the glasses than we expected especially for the $10 price. To finish everything off we had the Frangelico mousse. I have never heard of this before but the flavor and texture of this dish was divine! I'm a huge ice cream person and this was better than or just as good as any of the most premium ice cream I've ever had with a delicate and creamy texture! Topped with toffee bits and a thinly sliced strawberry, it is perfection. It is a MUST HAVE! The best part of the experience was that as I was sitting outside I could see that as each customer left the Owner personally thanked each one of the customers on their way out. With some he even chatted for a little bit and the overall experience was unique, high quality, and more than what I expected from even the finest restaurant in the Sacramento Folsom area, Thank you Eric for making our date night such a wonderful experience! Bacchus House is an absolute must go! Try everything and tell him Johnny sent you, such a great experience.

My family and I were pleasantly surprised by the new Bacchus House Wine Bar and Bistro in Folsom. The new owners have done an amazing job of bringing the wonderful new atmosphere of their restaurant to life. Literally, the decor and menu choices seems to be evolving continuously, which makes this dining hot spot FUN! My wife was speaking with the owner (Eric!?) last Thursday and talked about the recent changes and new addition of statues, and gorgeous water feature, on the outdoor patio and how beautiful the new transformation has become. Not to mention the absolutely GORGEOUS new BACCANAL bar they put in. So very classy and fun! We even saw a baby grand piano in the banquet room! These unique beautiful touches Definitely makes each dining experience unique and interesting! With all this as the backdrop to our dinning experience we were pleased the food and drink far surpassed the beautiful setting! Incredible food!! The Prime Rib was to die for, the gazpacho divine and the Frangelico Mouse AMAZING! Since discovering this new gem, we have had dinner here atleast once a week the past month. It's our new "go to date night" hot spot in Folsom! Our personal favorite! Check them out! You will be delighted!

My wife and I took a couple out to dinner here the other night, and we were very impressed. Both the outside and inside were decorated beautifully, and Eric, one of the extremely friendly and personable owners, told us that they were still putting some finishing touches on the space. The outdoor area is especially pleasant, with gorgeous statues, foliage and a water feature. We were greeted and seated promptly, and our server was there with waters and bread almost immediately. He was very nice and attentive, as was the rest of the staff. We had various appetizers, including the sampler plate, and it was excellent. The artisan cheese plate was my personal favorite. As far as entrees, I had the Salmon and pappardelle pasta, and it was absolutely delicious. Victor, the chef, doesn't short you on salmon with this dish, as is usually the case with seafood pasta. The portions were perfect; not small, but not embarrassingly huge either. One person had the halibut, and said it was perfectly cooked, and one of the most delicious she had ever had. The other two had the ciopinno, and they both loved it. It is a thicker version and it is LOADED with seafood. They both described it as less brothy and more of a meal than a soup. It would be a "comfort" version of the classic. We all shared a sampler platter for dessert, and it was consistent with the rest of the meal; delicious variety, and just the right amount. In closing, I recommend this new restaurant highly. It is especially impressive, considering it has only been open a few months, and it's staff and management run the place like it's been open for years. Looking for ward to another visit very soon!

I had such a positive experience at this restaurant starting from the atmosphere through the food and lastly the service. We chose to bring our own wine and the corkage fee was $15. We decided to do the small plates for lunch and was very satisfied with our chooses. Our waiter was very entertaining and very attentive to our needs. I would definitely recommend this establishment for your dining experience.

My wife and I used to frequent this spot when it was BSB. Then quality became suspect. We have now had the delight of two great meals the past two months. The staff is excellent and the bar makes a great cocktail. I'm a sucker for a good Manhattan. We are generous in tipping and after recently experiencing the Beef Bourguignon (the best I've EVER had), we wanted to make sure that the compliments and "extra tip" would make it to the kitchen staff. Our server said unfortunately the kitchen staff doesn't share in tipping. I find this distressing. We receive a wonderful meal and tip according to the MEAL as well as the service provided. The two go hand-in-hand. Why would this restaurant not share with the cook staff who prepare all of the ingredients, get there long before we as customers ever arrive and then put their best effort into making our dining experience historic. Why wouldn't they receive part of that compliment? Even regular places like Red Robin, Lucille's BBQ and upscale like Ruth's Chris and IL Fornaio share their tips with everyone that has a part in preparing, seating, serving, and cleaning after our meals. Most kitchen staffs are minimum wage earners and desparatley need the extra money that comes from us as customers. I'm not sure if I will be so generous in the future now knowing it's only going to the Wait Staff. My daughter is a trained pastry chef in SF and she states that her tips are vital to her making ends meet. She has a big fat student loan from Le Cordon Bleu International to pay and the tips certainly help pay for that. I think we're going to ask more staffs if tips are shared with Kitchen Staff or is it just for Wait Staff.

Bacchus once again is hitting it out of the park! Not only do they have fantastic food and drink, great ambience, and a second to none wait staff, but they have added a new offering that will make every baby boomer smile and feel like a kid again! The master pianist, Craig Faniani, plays "our" genre of music from 5-7 in the Bacchanal Lounge! This is a great place to unwind, visit with friends, have wonderful food and drink, and maybe sing a few songs! Thank you Bacchus House for providing a venue for the baby boomers. My husband and I have been longing for such a venue. The only sad part is it only takes place on the first Friday of the month! Way to go Eric and Chef Victor for making Bacchus House a destination!

Enjoyed a pre-Easter dinner here on good Friday. I am a food and wine snob plain and simple. Everything we ordered (bar drinks, wines, appetizers, salads, entres, and deserts) plus the service was PERFECTION...short and sweet. Fabulous seasonal decor and patio. We'll be back.

4.5 stars for food, 2 stars for service. We had a group of 12, and waited over 10 minutes before anyone came over to ask if we wanted drinks or appetizers (YES to both!). Once they got to the table, the appetizers, soup and salads were fine. For entrée, I had scallops with veggie risotto, and must say it was one of the best scallop dishes I've ever had. Scallops were perfectly seared and just cooked, and the risotto was full of mushrooms and great veggies. YUM. The New York steaks were apparently pretty thin but were cooked OK. Other food was fine. I had the Frangelico mousse dessert and I have to say it was neither Frangelico (hazelnut liqueur) nor mousse. It tasted like it had cream cheese in it, so tasted more like unbaked cheesecake to me. There were bits of hazelnut candy on top - I guess that was the Frangelico part. Surprisingly, it was pretty good. But I didn't finish mine. The service was pretty awful. We had to continuously ask our waiter for wine, water and drink refills. It was easier to flag down another server and have him find our server! Eric the owner stopped by early on, introduced himself and thanked us for coming - a very nice personal touch. I would return for the food but I'd make sure I got a different server.

Wow, maybe I watch too many restaurant shows or have eaten at much better restaurants but I am very disappointed. Are those patio tables and chairs on the inside dining area, not very comfy but very sturdy or do I not know what I am talking about? Got there just after 500Pm and was seated at the table behind the entrance curtain; why do restaurants do that? Didn't think it was a problem till someone was cleaning the window with Windex right behind me; Clean the windows before you open! Lobster bisque was good but served ~60 minutes after seating. We ordered the fillet mignon, very tender, slightly under cooked (rare but ordered med rare) but not well trimmed, strange shape. Also ordered the seafood trio, very sad. 3 medium or regular shrimps, 1 scallop (poached maybe) and one crab cake that had a hint of crab (should have left it off rather than call that a crab cake). The chef may not have tried east coast crab cakes but this had to be the worst one I have had; slight strands of crab with almost all filling, junk. I left half the crab cake on the plate. Our first and probably my only visit (my birthday nonetheless). Either I am a food snob or the other reviewers are more accepting. Pass.

We had a "perfect" dinner last night. The food is delicious and bought locally, as GMO free as possible. My 11 year old granddaughter loved the Easter decorations and was delighted with the wonderful server who presented her with sliced oranges without being asked. All the staff were friendly and attentive. The owners, Eric (who visited our table) and Victor (the Chef) have given us a dining experience unparalleled in Folsom!!

5 star restaurant, 5 star service, 5 star dining & 5 star chef... My wife & I came here to celebrate our 6 year wedding anniversary. We were greeted like family by owner Eric. Table setting was great. We had a chilled bottle of champagne & a candle light waiting for us at our table. Service was amazing. They made us feel real special on our anniversary. I ordered the Prime Rib medium rare. The best prime Rib I've ever had in my life! Cooked to perfection. Melted in my mouth. My wife ordered the Fresh Salmon & Papperdelle Pasta. The salmon tasted amazing. The sauce was "lick the plate good". Then we ordered The Bistro Dessert Sampler & that was bomb!! After dessert, We were able to meet Chef Victor to thank him & compliment him on his cooking & Eric for the great service we received on our special day.

Love Bacchus house!!! I have had both their prime rib (yum), and another occasion, the salmon. Loved both! I had the shrimp stuffed portabello mushroom. That was the best stuffed mushroom every. Desert, I had the Frangelico mousse. It was outstanding. I tried my all time favorite creme brulee. fantastic!

We suggested meeting some friends there last night for happy hour, the service at the bar was so bad that we never got the appetizers we ordered, we waited 40 minutes and nothing! When we finally said we were tired of waiting, the chef came out to look at us and didn't say a thing! The bartender gave us the bill with a discount on the cocktails that we managed to get. You'd think if you're sitting at the bar directly in front of the bartender you would get good service...?

Excellent food and service. We have been to Bacchus House 5 times since it changed owners and it has been fun watching the transformation. The Drinks are excellent, especially the house margarita - Ole! We no longer have to travel to mid-town for a romantic dinner. Eric the owner makes you feel like family coming home for a meal. Nice touch.

Missing the old Bidwell Street Bistro, we decided to try out their replacement a few weeks ago. Having heard Bacchus was also a wine bar, we expected a great wine list. We were sadly disappointed. They had a lot of local wines but not good ones, in my opinion. The food was decent but not anything special and not anything to bring me back anytime soon.

Quant, cozy atmosphere with an excellent menu and service. If you are looking to treat someone special in your life, this is a place to consider going. You can easily make a meal out of their small plates menu and the owner is only a whisper away. Enjoy.

My wife and I went there last night for my birthday dinner. I am a sucker for prime rib and had heard this restaurant had great prime rib. So we had made reservations as we expected it to be busy. Arriving at 5:20 we were kind of surprised there was only one other table that had people at it. After being seated we looked at the menu and figured out what we wanted. The waitress never offer any suggestions or told us what the specials were. I had settled on the prime rib and French onion soup. My wife settled on the salmon and French onion soup also. After our waitress returned for our order we were advised that the French onion soup and several other items were not available as they were redoing there menu. So we settled on the clam chowder. Then we had to wait, and wait, and wait. How hard is it to dish out a bowl of soup? They were not busy as there was only one other table seated. Finally the soup came. It was an interesting version of clam chowder. Lots of clams but very few potatoes. My wife said the salmon was wonderful. The prime rib was another matter. Way to much salt. The adjau was so salty it was unusable. I actually left a part of my prime rib as it was so bad. So not a good place for Prime rib. SALT does not make everything better. The decor is tacky. Crap everywhere. Some of the ceiling lights were burned out. The tables are really weird and the chairs are very uncomfortable. So not a real good restaurant. I don't think I will be back.

Do you Folsom-ites know how fortunate you are to have a restaurant like Bacchus? My wife and I never got past the small plates but we were really impressed - superior ingredients prepared with perfection. We had the Slow Roasted Pork Belly, Seared Ahi with noodles, Thin Crust Flat Bread with shrimp, pesto, cream and dried tomatoes, and Flash Fried Calamari. What a wonderful medley of flavors. With small plates this good, who needs entrees? We were so pleased we wanted to go back the next night but couldn't as on Sunday they only serve brunch. Mike our server was very helpful and Eric, the owner, made us feel like regulars even though it was our first visit. Can't say I'd make the drive from Half Moon Bay just for a meal, but sure worth a stop on the way to Tahoe on Highway 50. I wish this restaurant was closer to home.

My husband and I love this place! As foodies (and myself with a father who is a professional chef and my having worked in the restaurant industry for 13 years), we have a few criteria that need to be met for us to fall in love: Food quality AND creativity, service, atmosphere, and - yes, I'll admit it - booze. I'll start with atmosphere: 5/5 stars! It is positively beautiful inside. The attention to detail for everything is perfect. It isn't just beautiful, the energy is so positive. We feel like we BELONG there when we walk in. Everyone is super happy to be there, including the servers (I used to wait tables, so the happiness of my server is actually really important to me). I have heard them say multiple times how much they LOVE the new owners. So, right when you walk in, you know you want to be there. Next up: Food quality and creativity. 5/5 stars! The food is unlike anything else. The chef and sous chef are super creative. The kitchen staff clearly love what they do. Food is art, and boy are they expressive at Bacchus House! Each dish is delicious and of quality. Service: 5/5 stars! Okay, so here's my take, I already mentioned that the staff is happy to be there. They are friendly, responsive, and KNOWLEDGEABLE! I love it. Being there really feels like being with family. Everything in the restaurant is so wonderful, you could easily expect the potential for a snobby air. It is NOT there. We all know that food brings us together, this place definitely lives up to that expectation. Go for wings and beer or go for wining and dining - you are happily received all the same. (No really, go for wings and beer!) Booze! 5/5 stars: It's simple really, carry good wines and have someone on staff that can tell you about them. Carry good booze and have someone on staff who can mix it well. Harry, the Bacchus Wine Guy." is super fantastic and highly knowledgeable - let him take you on a fun journey through wine. He's great and will learn your tastes quickly. Justin, the bartender for which the Bacchus happy hour is named, is very creative and fun to talk to. We love just sitting at the bar while he works magic. He can concoct any drink to suit your fancy. The happy hour drink list features a number of his creations! Bacchus also boasts local beers on tap, so, you know that makes them good people. So. Go. Go in for the experience, stay for the love of great food. See you at happy hour!

This place is sexy. It's marvelous. It has an aura of deliciousness as soon as you step in. From their refreshing mojitos to the juicy prime rib, I wish I had a bigger stomach and an Irish liver to indulge more in the food porn they were serving.

My husband and I were invited by some friends to attend Sunday champagne brunch! The food was fantastic, the waiter was just as attentive and accommodating as can be! The champagne flowed, the food ( I had the quiche) was both delicious and filling! The décor was bright and cheerful, the Easter theme was tastefully appointed! What a wonderful time was had by all! Definitely a special place to spend time!

One of the worst experiences ever at a restaurant. Got there at 6:30pm on a Saturday with reservations for my Mom's 88th birthday. Friendly hostess seated us and things went downhill from there. After we ordered we were told they had run out of their "famous" Prime rib. At 6:30 on a Sat. night? The menu was virtually the same as when it was Bidwell St. Bistro except for the prime rib so we ordered the NY Steak. After 20 mins the waiter finally came to our table and advised us that our soups and salad would be another 10 min wait because there was a large table of 12 whose order got in ahead of ours. So after a 30 min wait my french onion soup came and looked nothing like it. No cheese on top and the crouton had sunk to the bottom. Another 45 mins later, that's a total of 1:15 mins starting at 6:30 to 7:45 on a Sat night our entree's arrive. My Dad's and my nysteak looked like they cut the original steak in two to avoid running out of that too. No taste whatsoever even with the herb butter. My Mom's short ribs also lacked flavor. I will not be back.

Hubby and I were out and about and debating a locale for a late lunch (2:30 or so). Made it to Bacchus, which I recalled reading about. It is in the site of the former Bidwell Street Bistro. All I can say is that it was A++ for sure, especially since we had no clue just what to expect. Hubby had a prime rib French dip, which had cheese, onions, and mushrooms in addition to the very tender thinly-slice beef. I opted for the salmon pasta--a house-made Pappaderell. Lots of fresh salmon, spinach, fresh dill, capers and a lovely light lemon-based sauce. Cleaned my plate! On the way home, I commented to my better half that it reminded me of a favorite in-town place we frequent, similar in freshness, etc. He said, "No way! this place is far better." So, for those local or from elsewhere shopping in Folsom, I strongly recommend Bacchus for a surprisingly good lunch or dinner. they also have a nice-looking Sunday Brunch menu. If you're headed to TJ's, just look to the left and you will spot it at end of a small strip mall. Lovely, yet not overdone, holiday décor.

I recently had lunch with a friend at Bacchus House. The decor is charming, the food is very good (excellent clam chowder and crab cakes), the prices are reasonable, but the service--not so much. I'm hoping that the waitress was new and untrained and things will improve. It's apparent that other reviewers had excellent service, so maybe this is just an issue at lunch. Anyway, I felt compelled to review, because this pleasant-enough waitress needs some tips--if she wants anything but a nominal gratuity. Hair hanging in your face and in the customer's food is gross. It didn't even look clean--the hair, not the food. Also, there were mistakes: no bread when requested, incorrect food order, stale ice tea and no straw (the server's fault? maybe not). I realize these are minor complaints, but annoying and disruptive to a pleasant lunch, nonetheless. A gentleman did come by our table to check on us (sort of), but he didn't introduce himself. I think he was the one to bring me a straw. Anyway, I'll probably go back, but bad service is a turnoff and can make or break a restaurant. On the way out, I heard this waitress once again apologizing for an error at another table. :(

I had the tender pan-roasted chicken breasts, with baby green beans and Yukon gold potato purée. It was so freaking delicious, I actually ate the whole thing rather than taking a doggy bag home. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the green beans were seasoned and cooked perfectly. I thought that the potatoe purée was a little bland, as well as the brandy creme sauce. But simply adding some extra salt and pepper remedied that, and it was an overall impressive meal. I also thought it was a really great price for the level of food we received; it was only $13 for my chicken breasts.

Terrific food and great atmosphere. Like the seasonal variety and seafood choices. Steamed muscles were delightful! Large selection of wines and educated staff. Location is hard to see from Bidwell but do stop and take a look. You won't be disappointed.

As a world traveler I have had the fortune of enjoying fine dining globally. Last night I had dinner here and what a treat for the taste buds. The dishes by Chef Octavio have been a personal favorite for years and to now get the opportunity to enjoy the full experience in his new Bistro exceeded my expectations. Excellent service and atmosphere and the filet and rock lobster was off the hook. If you haven't eaten here and are anywhere in the Sacramento area I suggest a trip to Folsom and treating yourself to an experience you won't forget!!!!

After the previous restaurant at this location (which we enjoyed many times in its heyday) became inconsistent and disappeared, we hoped the transformation to Bacchus House would be successful. That sure seems to be the case........beautiful new decor, excellent service and great food from the new chef's kitchen. It was pretty busy on a Friday night so reservations would probably be a good idea.

Tried for the first time last night with husband and another couple. Overall, we were sadly disappointed. Decor was nice and appetizer (Wild Boar sausage) and salad were good. Entrees/dessert- not so much. I asked waiter what he recommended- halibut or scallops. He said both were good- I chose halibut. Got scallops. Waiter said he must have confused it but since the scallops did look good I said I'd keep them. Mistake. While the veggie risotto was good, the scallops were so salty ( and I like salt!) that I couldn't eat them. I mentioned it to the waiter when he came by and he said, "Oh- sorry." Didn't offer to switch it out. My friend's chicken picatta was dry and bland- waiter again was "sorry." Eric the owner did come by but only to say hello- didn't ask us about the food. We decided to try the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert-each couple shared one- again- mistake. We all agreed it was the worst pumpkin cheesecake we had had- graham cracker crust tasted metallic. We all left half of it on our plate- again- no one asked us if it was okay. They did comp the dessert (to make up for the scallops mistake they said) as well as the corkage fee for one of the two bottles of wine we brought in. While we appreciated that we just got the feeling that they didn't care.

Returned last night with a few friends. The clam chowder was outstanding. Port mushroom was great. Ahi appetizer was cooked perfect. Had the calamari appetizer but it came small rings, wouldn't order again. Sat on patio, wouldn't do that again. Took a long time to get a setting and I think it was out of sight out of mind for server. They were not busy He was pleasant when he was tending us but took a long time to pickup our check and the dinner had already taken time, we were in a hurry to get home to kids. So, food still good but would sit inside next time..

Went in for the 1st time last night. Service was excellent. Food was great! We ordered the French onion soup which was absolutely delicious. The short ribs were good, and the risotto was good as well.

We have just had a very nice dinner. Diane had salmon. I have chicken. She also had a prosciutto with a heirloom tomato. They have a musician playing very pleasant music and Diane really liked it. Happy Diane makes for happy Pedro
