I had a last minute birthday cake made here for my roommate.. It was a chocolate raspberry cake with raspberry butter cream...WOW was it beyond Amazing..rich moist delish and the most important part was the butter cream was NOT sickenly sweet...I hate over sugary frostings it was more like the delicate Vietnamese whip cream frostings back home. Funny thing is I tried to go to Velitines...I think that is the name but they had no one to make the cake. Great thing because I found my new hometown bakery. Absolutely perfect as good as any high priced bakery in Newport or Laguna Beach.

Only giving 3 stars for the service, otherwise would have been a for sure 5! Beautifully decorated with a wide selection of pastries, definitely a wonderful find here in Eureka. Loved the country atmosphere and delicious chocolate hazelnut biscotti. However, the cashier was very unfriendly and rude. Normally I'd chalk it up to a busy morning, as the place was getting lots of traffic from St. Joe's. However, after calling out for the next customer in line the cashier muttered something sarcastic about people not paying attention. I felt very unwelcome, as she did not even look at us at all during the transaction. We ordered 2 large blended mochas and 2 pastries. I honestly didn't feel comfortable ordering more items that I wanted because the cashier seemed so irritated when I asked for my biscotti. Gave her $20 in cash and told her to give me just a moment so I could give her exact change for the 15 cents. She ignored me and handed me the change, pretty much shooing us away. We ended up receiving small blended drinks which were watery, not even sure if we were overcharged as she never offered me a receipt. Normally I wouldn't let something like this reflect my opinion on the whole business, as I truly enjoyed everything else but I was a little offended as I saw her greet a regular guest warmly after us. I would definitely advise management to have a meeting with their staff, as her attitude not only made me purchase less, but even deterred us from enjoying our coffee in store!

Great food. Nice atmosphere. The drinks are just sad. Slow inattentive staff of borderline competence. Every time I go the line takes forever yet they have multiple staff just standing around looking like you are bothering them. One walked out of the bathroom today without washing. And I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't left me standing for 20 minutes in line.

This is my favorite Ramone's location. Yummy goodies, they roast their own coffee and it's delicious. They also offer breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Love this place but I wish they would not leave both their doors open. I was trying to eat lunch and as I was eating my sandwich 3 flies landed on my other half. It was disgusting. If the eating area was this bad I hate to see the kitchen. I worked in restaurants for a long time and we always kept the doors shut. If it was hot we had fans and air conditioners. Close the doors!

I am so fed up with the customer service here. There are generally 5 people behind the counter, most of them just standing around. The two female servers in the morning with blond dreads have the worst attitudes out of the bunch. If I didn't work right across the street I would never go there. I just stood in line for over 10 minutes. There was only one person in line ahead of me. When I finally got to the counter and mentioned how long I waited, blondie with the dreads just shrugged her shoulders. Ugh. It is a shame because their food is pretty good. Worst customer service in Humboldt.

Great little coffee shop and bakery near home. I didn't realize they have locations around Eureka. The only other one I went to was in Pierson's hardware. Delicious baked goods and coffees. Wait staff is friendly except for the last time I was there. New person maybe having an off day.

We went to the store and it was awesome as was the service. We also used them to do our wedding cake and they did an amazing job with it. They were very professional and more importantly did stunning work. 6 out of 5 stars particularly if your looking for a Wedding Cake in the area.

  • Cassy K.

The pastries here are AMAZING, but the employees here are really rude. If the employees were friendlier I would come here all the time!

  • Janet L.

Solid coffee place in the morning. Parking is plentiful along the streets, like anywhere else in Eureka, service is quick and friendly. What prompted my review today was their lunch. Stopped in for a sandwich that was toasted - baugette with various deli meats and pesto. Quality ingredients and the pesto was the best I've ever had! Will definitely never overlook Ramone's as a lunch spot again. I'm still very full from my sandwich. Great value for lunch.

Good coffee. Have had some great desserts, and some sub par ones (I.e. bland and dry). I'd say that overall the food is so-so. My real issue with the place is that rarely do I get a friendly server. Don't get me wrong there are a couple of very friendly people who work there, but I find that the majority of Ramone's employees act snobby and annoyed to be helping you.

Let me just say I live in walking distance to this establishment and I would rather drive across town to Dutch Bros to experience better coffee than this place. I will give them credit on their pastries and grab to go breakfast croissants, but otherwise I do not like to go out of my way for this place. My friend ordered a smoothie from here and tasted moldy substance in her drink, but was in a rush to get to work, so could not complain. Overpriced, for low taste drinks. I have no opinions of their lunch or dinner items, but if you are advertising yourself as a coffee place, you should get it together and stand by your main item.

  • Daisy L.

I'm really happy to have them as my neighborhood coffee shop and cafe. I'm a latte lady, and there's often a bit of a wait for espresso drinks, but any irritation dissipates when I see the beautiful foam art and then destroy it by taking that first delightful sip. The sandwiches (fresh mozzarella, tomato + pesto!), chicken salad wraps and salads in the cold case by the wine bar are great to-go lunches. Speaking of wine bar...so glad that it's an option. Because every time I see the dinner specials I wonder why I don't eat there more and work my way through the menu and wine list.

This is really the only Ramone's location I can tolerate. The only one where the coffee doesn't taste burnt(McKinleyville location is terrible), but it still sucks. . They have a good lunch menu and even offer dinner, although I have never been for dinner. They are pretty well staffed for the lunch rush so it is generally a pretty quick turnaround time. All in all, go for the lunch, but by all means don't order coffee. They have a nice black iced tea. Drink that with your salad or sandwich.

  • Jaime L.

Great food, terrible coffee. I wish that there were more vegetarian / vegan options, but there's always something wonderful to be had here. The Harrison location has a great ambiance and very good staff.

So happy with my birthday cake . My expectations were beyond exceeded! I ordered an Angel Food cake custom with fresh strawberries & whipped cream. This served more guests than I anticipated. This cake tasted so good, fresh, and soft! Everyone complimented the cake and I told them "Ramones"!

  • A G.

A decent place for breakfast but be sure to check your order! They have pastries, coffee as well as a full menu from which to choose. This past weekend on two separate mornings the friendly but lacking attention to detail staff incorrectly filled our to go order. We realized later on in the truck that a pastry was not what we ordered and a mocha without whipped cream came with it. Not deal breakers, but disappointing to us both times. The breakfast dishes we ate in the friendly, clean and bright cafe were reasonably priced but somewhat plainly prepared without a lot of flavor. All and all, a good option for a quick breakfast in Eureka.

Great food and baked goods but sometimes the slowest service in town. This place is always packed and for good reason but expect to wait because they never seem to have enough people working the front. Always something fun for the holidays and the savory scone is really great. Good dinner menu and beer and wine available. Good choice for a local bakery if your from out of town.

  • Jackson H.

The ONLY place I will have make birthday cakes!!! Great choices for ingredients to build a cake with, always rich and delicious!!! The coffee is good and strong and the pastries are amazing!!!

We came up to visit my son who is attending Humboldt and after our dinner, elsewhere, we googled a place to go have dessert and coffee. We were in Eureka at the time and it was getting late, but Ramone's on Harrison was still open. :) I gave this place only 4 stars because our pie would've been better heated and I believe she was so busy she forgot to ask. Let me tell you... This place is so cool! The staff was awesome! They were very friendly and upbeat. You felt they loved their job. They were very attentive and even made sure we had what we needed. The coffee was a little strong for me but I am a weakling. Lol The Blackberry pie was tasty. The ambience was very very nice. Reminded me of places you'd find in Calistoga, if you've ever been. We will definitely go back numerous times over the next 3 years and hopefully beyond.

  • Ray F.

Great local bakery store and restaurant in town. I still here whenever I'm over in the hospital district, usually to grab a cup of coffee and a pastry. The place is often very busy, and sometimes in the mornings the line is to the door. We have ordered several cakes for various occassions and they have all been amazingly fresh, delicious and worth taking the time to order. If you want a great cake for a special occasion or no occasion at all there is really only one choice.... Ramones.

  • Michelle M.

This place is very tasty! My mother and I ordered a pizza with mushrooms, figs and goat cheese im pretty sure it was named the Humboldt Fog and a seared ahi tuna melt. Both very well prepared and taste was spot on. Never eating at this location before we had not known that they stop serving for an hour or so between lunch and dinner (two separate menus) and showed up 15 min before 4 (hour break time) when I asked the lady at the counter how it worked (whether you sit and someone will take your order or order at the counter.. you catch my flow) a woman who was making coffee came up and sighed "you only have 15 min soooo...." and walked away shaking her head. So rude. I work in the industry and would never give that service to anyone! Its your job to serve and please your customers with a smile not make them feel uncomfortable! So food service

On new years day I called to inquire if they were open for business. I got an answering machine saying that if I received the message during business hours , which it was, that they must be busy and I was offered to leave a message. Assuming that they must be open because if they weren't it would have been stated on their machine, my daughter and I drove across town to their store. We were dissapointed to find that they were in fact closed. I'm giving Ramones on Harrison only one star because I'm upset at having wasted not only my time but gas too. When it would have been easy enough for them to let their customers know they were closed for the holiday on their answering machine.

Great coffee, food, and wine! Versatile menu with a comfortable atmosphere. Shawnie was super friendly and I was taken aback when she mentioned she was new to the team. I saw her going above and beyond for myself and other customers. A+!

Winner winner!!! Highly recommend it for those driving thru town and want a taste of local good.

Excellent lunch of one each meat & vegetarian baguettes! Mmmm, the pesto & hot mustard in the veggie, w/ fresh mozzarella! The ham/cheeses was delish! Wonderful coffee & iced tea obviously brewed today. Seeded baguettes made the whole package. Turned down the sweet treats which tested our willpower!

  • Taylor S.

Yummy pastries but the staff is always so snooty towards me....meh, worth it for the dream-like variety of goodies

    (3)
  • Lester D.

One of the best places around. Good food (great pizza!), their breakfast is always good, and a top flight wine list.

    (5)
  • Zuretti G.

love ramones, love the location, love the food, service is friendly, atmosphere is casual. it would be even better if they could control the flies that get in when the doors are wide open. numerous flies in the pastry counters also.

Seriously...get over yourself. I want to like you...I really, really do. I have tried...too many times. I realize that my review is moot as every time I have gone in to the Harrison location it is packed. I find this utterly perplexing. The coffee tastes as if it has been incinerated. The cookies have varied from fresh to stale...but always dry. The two reasons I gave two stars instead of one are for the pain au chocolat which they have nailed and the pre-made egg salad sandwich is not awful. In my line of work I frequently need to purchase large amounts of beverages and goodies for my customers...when I have ordered more than two items the staff consistently get a glazed look in their eyes and begin acting as if I have asked them to remove a limb. Really? Do they not understand how they get their paychecks? I have had better service at the Old Town location but again the bakery items are marginal. I would rather drive all the way to Ferndale to purchase amazing pastries @ Humboldt Sweets. Not only are they incredibly nice...they have baked goods worth treating yourself and your loved ones.

I love ramones, but of all of them this one was my least favorite. Lots of flies, crowded, and didn't smell great

  • Jessi M.

Love this place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert! Very affordable prices for breakfast and lunch, especially for the quality of food you get. They have good coffee and really delicious pastries but my favorite food is the food off the menu that is made to order. Always fresh, quality ingredients and they come up with creative and yummy pizzas, sandwiches, and salads. Ramone's on Harris is one of my fiancé and my favorite date spots for dinner, as the decor is adorable and the food is always very very good plus there is a large selection of beer on tap and wine. I have nothing bad to say about Ramone's. I highly recommend it.

  • Retta B.

There are only two places worth eating at in this town and Ramone's is one of them! We enjoyed some desserts one night and came back for lunch the best day! Husband had the ahi tuna melt which he said was good... Until he tried my chicken bacon avocado sandwich! We were both in heaven over this sandwich. With a red onion balsamic marmalade what more could you ask for but amazing, fresh (I'm pretty sure made at the bakery there) bread and fabulous, quality chicken! Plus the prices are reasonable (which you also don't find in eureka!) The molasses cookies are amazing! Two sandwiches (with your choice of chips or a green salad,) two iced teas (seemed to be good quality tea!,) and two molasses cookies (giant sized) for $23!! Are you kidding. Drop what you're eating and go to Ramone's!

I wanted a custom designed cake for my 21st bday and I went to a few local bakeries but got turned down because they couldn't do the fondue. Bummer... I decided to head over to ramones because I wanted a pink champagne cake with raspberry filling and Leah did an amazing job at my cake. I loved it soo much and it wasn't too sweet too as I request. Thank you!! Would recommend anyone who are looking to have a customized cake to please head over to Ramones on Harrison!

    (5)
  • Lore B.

Ramone's on Harrison is by wide margin, the best coffee house in Humboldt County. The hand made pastries, cookies, breads, ice cream, and menu items are superior to any other bakery's offerings locally--in variety as well as quality. Ramone's was one of the first places to offer espresso drinks in Eureka. They have excellent coffees, and their prices remain reasonable. I love their breads and pizzas and soups. too. For a meal, or, on the run, or for an afternoon pick-me up, you cannot find a better place to relax. And, if "the first feast is for the eyes," you should see their fresh fruit smothered waffles! Yum! Delicious!

I have not been this impressed with a restaurant in a very, very long time. How refreshing to find this little gem! My boyfriend and I shared the Ahi Salad and the Chicken-Bacon-Ranch pizza... Everything was expertly prepared with extreme thought put into it. Amazing. We will definitely be returning.

  • Kimberly K.

The pesto bread was amazing and so was the chocolate cake we ordered! I will be here again when I am in town! The atmosphere was nice too. Felt like a nice place to just hang out with a friend.

  • Craig J.

Ordered two cappuccinos and two breakfast bagels, the drinks were finished about 5 minutes apart, and were nothing close to a good cappuccino. Very bitter, and the flavoring we ordered in them was almost non existent. The breakfast bagels, bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel, were lackluster at best

Wow, has this place gone down hill. My husband works right around the corner so we've been a few times, had some good sandwiches. The past 2 times we've gone, once last week, and one a few months ago, it hasn't been a good experience. The staff is completely disorganized, they wander aimlessly, the "baker" you can see through the window is standing around talking to the cooks while they try to make food with his huge beard hanging out everywhere with no net covering it. I also heard the cooks saying several times as they send out food, "Oops! I made the wrong thing!" Really? Quit smoking in the back and maybe you could make the right thing. Seeing this baker standing around like he has nothing to do is also upsetting, especially since we go there for a certain sandwich, The Muffaletta Panini, it's delicious on focaccia bread, but really doesn't taste good on sourdough. The past two times we've been they've been out of focaccia. A bakery is seriously out of focaccia? The last time we were there I was happy because we weren't informed this bread was out (or never even made at all that day) until after we ordered and a waiter came over to tell us, not ask us, but tell us, that the sandwich would be coming on sourdough. No explanation, no asking if we wanted something else. When the sandwich came I sent it back, and asked for it on wheat bread. What they came back with the saddest excuse for a sandwich I've ever seen, completely skimped on ingredients and just pathetic. We wont' be coming back to this Ramone's again.

The food is AMAZE. The service is cafe style...pretend you're in France ;) don't have something pressing to do when you want to eat there. Fresh ingredients, clean food and clean dining room, good prices and wonderful atmosphere!!! Thanks for being here. I love lunch, goodies, pizza, dinners, the meats are cooked really well and the selection of wine and beer rocks.

My wife and I just ate dinner at the Ramones Bakery. I ordered the short ribs no bone d licious. The couscous had rice, could have been mashed potatoes. 2 IPA s and a great conversation with my wife.

For my birthday my husband decided to get a coconut chocolate cake from Ramones because we heard they have the best cake in town. The cake, like some of their other desserts, tasted STALE. if anyone thinks this place has good cake/sliced cake/cupcakes they need to try something NOT from this town.

Just passing through puts a lot of pressure on humble eater when so much looks so good. Adventurous offerings reward the adventurous. Make the effort to find this place. Be patient, this is not fast food but is worth the wait.

Good coffee, desserts, food, ambiance.........and free WiFi. It's one of my regular stops. I'm not too interested in ordering full-on meals when I come here, but it's good to know that you can pretty much find anything your palate desires here, whether it be sweet or savory, light or heavy. I've had sandwiches, pastries, cake, coffee, soup, and salad here. Can't really say anything bad about any of them. The only time I don't like to be around here is lunch, because the place will likely be completely slammed with employees from the various hospitals and medical practices that abound in the area. Otherwise, I find it a perfectly comfortable place to sit and have a drink, and maybe a small bite to eat throughout the day. The oatcakes that they make are pretty much the "hair of the dog" for me. They're super cheap, very filling, low in fat, and packed with nutrition. Oh yeah, and they taste fantastic, stuffed with oats and all kinds of berries, and topped with a light coating of something sweet and syrupy that has a brown sugar-ish taste. Anyway, this is a fairly regular stop for me when I'm in this part of town, and I suppose I find the other fronts to the north to be comparable.

  • Amanda S.

My mom and I stopped in here for a quick bite before visiting my sister at Humbolt... Words cannot describe how amazing the food and service was! We shared the lunch special- a lamb French dip with blue cheese that was absolute heaven, and a cup of lentil soup with sausage we could have swallowed a whole bathtub full of. The staff were friendly and sweet and super helpful, it was so hard to leave! I just wanted to curl up into a chair and drink endless cups of witches brew for the rest of the afternoon. Not only will we be coming back, we'll be telling everyone about this place. Can't wait to return!

I come here often to work on the computer because I enjoy the food and the atmosphere. HOWEVER, the staff can be rude at times, and the shop is always very loud. I use headphones while I work, so thankfully that blocks out some of the noise. If you are looking for a quiet place to work and drink coffee, this is could be your spot (if you have headphones). If you are looking to meet a friend for a quick lunch, this is a great spot.

Few days are as special as your wedding day. I went to Ramone's with very specific ideas about the style of cake that I wanted for my wedding. It had to be perfect. Leah delivered my vision with so much precision that it's like she was able to view the image I had in my brain. She was friendly and honest and made an epically beautiful, quirky and delicious cake for us to enjoy on our special day.

Super cute bakery and cafe. When you first wall in you are greeted by a dessert and cake fridge that is screaming "come eat me, your precious! Bruhahahah". I would have loves to bring back a mini cake for my anniversary but with my flying luck, I'd mangle it in travel, or get delayed and eat the whole thing. Love the wine bar inside!!! I don't mind waiting for my flight at all now that I have found a place to chill. Also love the jazzy loungy music playing and the modern/industrial interior. Makes me feel like I am at a trendy cafe back home. Oh, and the blueberry scone. tO die for!! Nice little sugary glaze on too. Very moist, not your dry scone. Yum

Totally yummy coffee and tasty sandwiches. My MIL, who avoids garlic when she can, had this lovely tomato soup that was so fresh tasting, the staff must have just crafted it in the kitchen. I had a tasty tomato, basil, mozarella sandwich on a baguette. That was made with some of the best bread I have tasted in a long time. Fresh, with a nice give; and the mozarella was fresh.... yummmmm There was a hint of garlic in there, too, that was a nice kick. The hubster had a veggie sandwich on a nice, seeded loaf, and he enjoyed that. The FIL had a yummo sandwich too, but I was so busy channeling my inner Hoover that I don't know what he had. Fabulous mochas, too. Will definitely be coming back!

I have always received wonderful quick service each time I'm there. When I walk in the door the staff knows just what I'm there to pick up. I use a lot of their breads for my business and their always baked fresh And consistently good!

I've visited the Harrison location a few times now. The pastries and coffee are good, but the costumer service is pretty bad. I get the cold shoulder every time I come in here. Last time I came in was the last straw. There was a girl behind the counter with long, dark hair with colored pieces in it. She never smiled or greeted me, and I felt like I was more of a nuisance than a costumer.....so uncomfortable. I like Ramone's in general, but I will not be back to this location.

We live in the neighborhood and visit Ramone's regularly for a weekend breakfast or brunch. Although the service can be a bit ragged (as you come to expect after living for a while in Humboldt county, where professional service is a rare luxury), we've never been disappointed. Good breakfasts and sandwiches for a reasonable price, wine and beer (including Redwood Curtain IGA!), and a comfortable friendly setting where you can linger over a coffee with your paper or meet for a meal with friends. Plus it's one of the few places in Humboldt with outdoor seating for those sunny days. Every neighborhood needs a place like Ramone's!

  • Sarah K.

What a great coffee shop! I have not had a bad drink from this place. Their cheese pesto bread is amazing! We gobble that stuff up. They have a big variety of cakes, cookies, and pastries too. The service is very attentive and if there is a bit of a line, it usually goes by very fast! The ambiance is very cozy and colorful. You won't be disappointed here!

I LOVE RAMONES! They just opened up their new spot next door to the old one on Harrison which is great because there is more space for sit in dining. Ramones made my wedding cake. They did exactly what I had asked for and let me custom pick the flavors. My cake was a chocolate cake with cherry whipped cherry filling, with cherry/almond flavor frosting. YUM! And beautiful too. Ramones bread is out of this world,, especially their seedy bread. You can go in and buy a fresh loaf for a good deal. They have a great variety of coffee and espresso too. They have a great lunch menu consisting of soups, sandwiches, wraps and lots more. As a matter of fact I am picking up a cake for my husbands birthday tomorrow:) Always good service. 5 stars from me:)

Food is great, service is excellent but it's a no no for me to eat at a place that sprays ammonia glass cleaner around the food area and in the establishment. I tried 3 of their locations. The one in old town Eureka is my fav. where I had my coffee and breakfast several times. So if you don't mind the ammonia smell, this is a good place to come for baked goodies and sandwiches.

So wonderful!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU RAMONE'S!! I woke up today and remembered it's my nieces 7th Birthday, she's in Euerka and I live in Los Angeles. So I called the wonderful staff at Ramone's, paid for a beautiful cake w/ my credit card and it's personally being delivered to the front door of my precious niece tonight. You guys saved the day and made that little girls day! Thank you again for your willingness to help a stranger 800 miles away! I will def. call you for future birthdays!

This place needs help with organization. Ive ordered drinks and they have just sat there because I didnt know if they were ready or not and I didnt want to stand and wait since sometimes you can wait a long time. also they need to work on their measurements. Ive asked for a one pump vanilla chai and was told by the girl that they "dont measure, just pour". My drink came out way too sweet and almost undrinkable but I didnt want to ask them to remake it given that the staff isnt very friendly. Smiles seem to be in short supply. I have gone back and probably will continue to but only because of the lack of options. It would be nice to give a place with this much traffic a 5 star review, I hope they fix their issues so that I can one day give this local business a good review.

  • Melissa J.

This review only gets a one star because yelp lists their opening hours on weekdays to be at 6:00am, but I was waiting outside the doors from 6:20-6:35 and though the employees were inside, they were not open. Their sign on their door said they should be open at 6:30 though, so really that were only five minutes late opening the door, but I can't be sure exactly when they did actually open, because by that time I had to leave to go to work. I have been here during the mid morning on my breaks though and they always have about a hundred flies inside, some even inside their bakery case, and the service is extremely slow so I knew I couldn't wait around until they finally opened or I would be late to work. I have had a few of their drinks and I haven't liked their mocha, hot chocolate, or hot caramel latte. They all tasted a little bitter and watery. However, the hot apple cider is alright and their Italian sodas are fine. I tried to eat here for lunch once, but again, the service was so slow that I had to go up and change my order from dine-in to to-go because they spent twenty minutes making a sandwich. So overall, if you're in the area, have a lot of spare time, and don't want to drive somewhere else, than this place is fine, but if you are vacationing up here or something and you never set foot in this location, then you really aren't missing out.

My birthday just passed and seriously, I am still missing Ramone's cake. Chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream and raspberry jam filling. The only other place that has done this cake right so far has been the Buttery in Santa Cruz, CA. My birthday just isn't the same with a cake bought from here (or I guess the Buttery). Just thought I'd like to let you know that 6 months have past since my last review and at least a year since I've had their cake and I am STILL thinking about it. Wow.

Awesome bakery. Best bet is the pumpkin spice soft cookie which is awesome. Their cakes are beautiful and yummy. The chocolate chip cookie wasn't all that to me but then again the pumpkin spice is worth the drive and a must during every visit to eureka! Yummy. Five stars because the pumpkin is outstanding flavor, softness and you can't find anyone who makes it the same. What's not to like?

Not a bad place. Very friendly customer service and the shop is neat and tidy. Delicious treats of course, but I'd only complain that their selection could be a tad bit better. That's a pretty minor complaint though. As near as I can work out, this is probably the best bakery in the Eureka area. Definitely worth a look.

I was excited to try this almond croissant at what appears to be Eureka, Ca's most established and reputable bakery: Ramone's Bakery. The Bakery has been around for almost as long as I've been alive and they offer a wide variety of pastries as well as some of the North Coast's best wedding cakes. I was sold. The husband and I crashed overnight in Eureka during a five day road trip down the coast. Naturally, I scoured the interwebs for an almond croissant hotspots and Ramone's popped up. Draped in spooky local art and adorned with indoor brick aesthetics, the joint was mutually cozy and sophisticated. The almond croissants? Eeerrrr, I dislike negative posts, but I also am compelled to document every almond croissant I eat, so: it was all bear claw and no almond croissant. I ate a few bites and dumped it for a savory croissant, which was much better with more natural filling and overall more compatible with the sourdough tasting croissant dough. JT got a savory bun filled with cheese and sun dried tomatoes. It was fluffy, cheesy and divine. This almond croissant was not a fav, although the other bakery selections were happening.

I'm sad to report that my experience here was just meh. We walked in with such anticipation about the place and my eyes were greeted with all of the yummy looking desserts in the front counter. And then, we were greeted (cross that out, kind of acknowledged) by one of the staff. I don't think she smiled once or welcomed us to the place. Not that anything of that is really necessary, but it felt really off putting and like they were just doing the minimal requirements of their jobs. We decided to dine here and have a Chocolate Silk Tart. The dessert itself was alright: tasty, but I've experienced better. The meal itself was just alright as well. My boyfriend ordered a BLT and he was pleased with it. I ordered the house salad with poppy seed dressing. The flavor of the dressing was great, but the portions were tiny, and the croutons were teeny tiny little pieces. For what we paid, the meal itself was definitely overpriced and not worth it. Their new location is really nice inside though.

Great food if they can get your order down right, or even remember you put one in. Some of the staff isn't very apologetic if they make a mistake either. Not a lot of room for sitting down to eat with the amount of people that come in, and very noisy. Desserts are awesome and so is the food though. That's what keeps me coming back.

Did receive a 'free-bee', but it was too little too late. Ordered, waited, had a beer, waited, had another beer, waited and finally asked the server (who had walked by us numerous times, in an empty restaurant) if she had put in our order. She checked with the cook and he says: "No 'W' order back here." Got a free fruit strudel for our hour and a half wait...yeah. Believe we had the same experience as Daisy B.

First, I would like to say that the remodel turned out great! I went there last night for dinner and had pumpkin black bean soup for a starter. It was really good, pretty thick, but great flavor and the black beans served as a yummy pillow like texture. For seconds I had an arugula beet salad. It too was really tasty, it was accompanied by walnuts, feta, vinaigrette, and was not too overdressed. As for the main course I had pan seared halibut with braised greens, red quinoa, and a balsamic reduction. Yum. The fish was cooked perfect for a pan sear. The fish itself was flaky and tender with one side adding a wonderful crispy pan seared texture. They were out of the greens so they subbed with broccoli. I like broccoli, but this was nothing special. The balsamic reduction tied the quinoa and broccoli together for me and the fish was just really good on its own, no sauce necessary. I paired it with a 2011 Pinot noir. Delicious!! Good job guys! Oh and the service was excellent very friendly and patient, given we showed up 15 min before closing and stayed till nearly 10pm. Oops. When in Rome. Overall great dining experience.

The wood fired pizza is AMAZING. Salads were huge, mac'n'cheese looked wonderful. Service was possibly the worst and weirdest I've ever experienced. Dinner took over 2 hours, getting water or napkins was like pulling teeth, but I'll say it again--the food was amazing. I will definitely go back, prepared for the bizarre nature of the dining experience and willing to put up with it for the yummy food.

Ok, I must say... They've turned around their Harrison store (which my last review was written about) completely. The staff are friendly, the coffee seems to taste better, and the ambiance (reminds me of Fat Apples in Berkeley now) is wholely improved. The addition of a few beers on tap is a good one. The restaraunt is warm and comfortable.

I was desperate upon the last day of my trip to Eureka because I had not yet been to a coffee shop or bakery, and I was determined to try something local! Fortunately, Ramone's came to my rescue because they had a location that was less than 2 miles from where I was staying. What was actually nice and clear skyed weather for the last two days turned into pouring rain for the 30 minutes I was out and about. Just my luck huh? I could tell some of the locals must have been curiously looking at me with my flip flops (ready for my drive home) in the rain. Okay, now down to the nitty gritty. I ordered a crap load of stuff, because you know what?, I'm greedy and I like to try everything, so there. I could tell this place is a local favorite because it was not even 1pm and they had several items sold out, like their baguettes, sandwiches and one of their soups. Under those circumstances, I had to choose quick or I would lose out. That is the point where my eyes began to squint (more than usual because I am Asian), and I had determination written in my eyes.... I chose several of their cookies, a cranberry coffee cake, some croissant items, a mini sourdough pesto cheese loaf, and a mexican chocolate mocha and regular mocha. I must say, they had a pretty good variety to choose from... I didn't even touch the cream puff/eclair section. Disclaimer... I am not a bakery item expert, nor do I claim to be. I will say that I know what I like in bakery items and I can be particular. In saying that, I will say that I felt that the bakery items were good, but most were not stand out. The croissant items were good, but I think they could have been a bit lighter or flakier. The chocolate croissant was good because they put plenty of chocolate inside, which I feel many places skimp on. The coffee cake was average in flavor. The cookies were not soft enough or flavorful for my tastes, and some were a little too stiff or crumbly. By no means am I saying that they were not worth eating though! I did eat bites of each, and they were good, but not outstanding. The sourdough was yummy, though I have not had a chance to toast some with cheese. Also, the mochas were great, and I especially liked the mexican chocolate mocha! These were the winners. The location was nice and small, but the parking is on the street, and the service was great. I have a feeling that the sandwiches and the soups are the way to go though... I may be back if Eureka calls to me again....

The wine bar is a great addition, with a few excellent, local beers on tap, and a nice selection of pizza, salads etcetera, what's not to like?

Hey! There's a new Ramone's opening next to the old location on Harrison. The interior is fabulous! They will be serving more lunch and dinner foods...and get this, there is a wine bar. Go figure. Nice job Ramonites!

You know what they have that I like? SMALL baked goods at decent prices. I had a key lime tart there once. You know what a blessing that is for someone who can neither get away with eating a whole piece of key lime pie, nor stop once she starts?

My wife and I saw them 16 weeks prior to our wedding to get our cake done and told them our dietary needs and gave them a recipe which they claimed they could work with. Well, seven days before the wedding we got nothing but excuses about why our cake could not be done right AND they added 40% to our agreed on price, so we were forced to find a competent baker for our cake which is no easy task with less than one week to our wedding day. We ended up at Michael's Crafts store looking for stuff to bake our own cake since we could not find an available baker. Lucky for us, we ran into the woman who teaches baking there and she made our cake to perfection according to our dietary needs. Don't get your wedding cake done here. Go elsewhere. Ramone's lost myself, my wife and all of our friends as customers for good."

I love the location at 2nd and E St. in Old Town Eureka. So delicious. I've been coming here since I was a high schooler and they first opened - way too many years ago to count. They still have the best pastry and apple pandowdy in the world and I am addicted to their Mexican mocha. This is the one place I come back to every single time I am back in town to visit my family for the holidays. Free wi fi too!

Their Yule Log is unbelievably good. I crave the holiday season for this deicious, light, very chocolatey treat. I believe I bank some of my snooty dessert tastes upon the perfection of the Ramone's Yule Log. The baked goods here are light when they need to be, crisp where they are supposed to be, sweet without sugar saturation, and rarely miss. They don't go all the way to hippy edge nor do they dwell solely in the traditional. Service at both locales is not always perfect but definitely genuine. You'll find most employees happy, helpful, and a bit tattooed. There is a location on E st. in the Old Town area, where most out of towners find themselves. If you're in town, try a Ramone's scone at the very least, you won't be sorry.

Had the cappuccino mousse, and the meringue rocks. Killer. Definitely not what I would expect looking at this place from the outside. I will definitely come back and try their other yummy dessert!

Best place to get coffee in Humboldt. Period. Fantastic iced coffees, lattes, capps, and Chai. Their custom-made birthday cakes make me happy just thinking of it. Their biscotti, vegan seed cookies, espresso shortbread, everything is lovely. And very helpful and friendly staff.

This place was awesome. I had an event I had them bring coffee in for and the setup was great and the coffee was fantastic. Then for lunch i had them put together a lunch box and it was also fantastic. Great sandwich, potato salad, chips and a chocolate chip cookie. Tomorrow I am going back to pick up some of their coffee and some baked goods.

I think the best lattes are made at the Mckinleyville location. And somehow the sourdough bread from the Wildberries location is just amazing. The Harrison location is key for lunch between patients! I love their soups and bread on winter days. Old Town Eureka, haven't been their in years but their lattes are pretty awesome also!

Some of the best bread in California can be found at this Ramone's location! My family and I always stop here for our morning coffee and breakfast and road snack (i.e. loaf of bread and cheeses) before the long drive back down to San Mateo. I need to also mention the cookies, especially the mocha nut chunk or whatever they called it, which included hazelnut and apricot - it was like a party in my mouth! Lastly, this is the only place I drink coffee in Eureka, mostly because I haven't tried anything else and neither should you.

this review is for the arcata location inside the wildberries market. the cranberry crumble was surprisingly delectable. almost a gooey pie consistency. they offer several cakes, pies, and tarts in several sizes. the smallest size is reasonably priced and plenty for two. chewy, buttery chocolate chip and walnut cookies. all the cookies looked really good. my favorite ramone's baked good? devil's food chocolate cupcake. dark, delicious cake with the perfect amount of piped dark chocolate frosting.
