This place has gone downhill. My fiance and I used to go here almost every weekend. I would always get the blue crab eggs benedict. But starting about 1.5 years ago the service and the quality of the food has become horrible. They always hard boil my eggs on my benedict even when I specifically asked them for soft poached/soft boiled :( The service is slow and the servers are not knowledgeable at all about their dishes. They get 1 star for the muffins. The pumpkin spice muffin is to die for. Too bad I won't go back just for a muffin.

I'm in FRANCE! Forget my last review about never going to exotic places....WOW! I've made it all the way to gay Pari'! And I'm excited! I took a shower (using my AXE body wash in hopes of getting groped and tackled by hot French women), put on my best suit, combed my hair into all it's faux-hawk glory, and strolled into the bejeweled marvel of a restaurant. WTF??!! I expected to hear some romantic french flair, lovers nestled away in their booths whispering sweet nothings to each other, in a dimly lit cubby hole that we all know as Mimi's Cafe. WTF??!!!!! I got a freaking high-class, overpriced Mac-Donalds! (Not McDonald's, as I am from Texas and we pronounce it MAC-Donalds; get right, damn it). I was seated in a booth, promptly given a menu, drink order taken, asked for my order - I got some kind of chicken - and....waited. Then I received some bread things which I don't understand the point of; what? Their food is so bad they want you to fill up on chunks of excessive carbohydrates in order to mask the flavor of what is about to be bestowed upon you? Meh. Forget the bread; gimme a damn beer. And boy's 'n girls, that's exactly what I had....beer...beer...beer....more beer. Then my food came out and I was so full from beer that I had them put it in a doggie bag and I left. The service was mediocre, the food, after I ate some, was mediocre. The french theme....yeah, whatever. Go if you want to kick it back and not be unnerved. But to find French chicks, you really need to go Europe. I was duped, I'm telling ya! DUPED! :(

The wait staff is deplorable and incompetent. I've had 2 awful experiences in a row at Mimi's-which a place I usually LOVE-and am seriously thinking of never dining there again! Slow service for everything from attention from the waitress to getting straws for our drinks to asking for the check 3 times! And it was 8:30pm on a Sunday and NOT CROWDED! What gives with the snail-like pace?! On a good note, the food (once you can order and receive it!) is good for all meals of the day. Their breakfasts are delicious and the muffins...to die for! My cousins loved the infamous french onion soup and the kids meals are well rounded. If they can train the wait staff to be a little more efficient, then I would definitely go back.

Although the restaurant was not that crowded, we were seated in a back room next to a large party. Members of the group kept standing up and leaning against our booth. We ordered salmon salads and were almost immediately served a gigantic muffin that was like a piece of mediocre cake. I would expect a roll or sliced baguette with salmon salad, not the sugar and fat-loaded monstrosity that we were served. After a long wait and after asking where our food was, we were served the salads: Greens were tired--probably from mixed bagged greens available in supermarkets. Salmon overcooked Hard-boiled eggs were sliced into small pieces--I doubt that we had more than a quarter of an egg each. Tomatoes absent Small quantity of overcooked mushy red potatoes. All in all a bad experience. We won't be back.

I come here when I am missing Thanksgiving. It being my favorite holiday of the year, I miss the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, etc. Mimi's has the perfect dinner for those who love Thanksgiving and are limited to such a meal only once a year. Their roasted turkey dinner is not as good as the traditional home-cooked meal, but it sure does tide me over until November! I can't speak for any other entrees, but if you are craving turkey...

Say what? You're out of eggs? But it's only 1pm?! Coming here reminds me a little of our excursions to the Home Town Buffet...just see a few too many people here that maybe shouldn't be eating here. Alas I digress. Stopped here for a late lunch and had a hankering for breakfast. They usually serve it until 4pm, but seems it was quite a popular lunch spot of the day. Anyway, they did end up having egg whites and egg substitute, which is perfectly fine with me. After all, I have to eat my gigantic muffin. One critique is that their bran muffins. Supposedly the healthiest of them all with about 9grm of fiber. But, they dowse so much honey or syrup over it that it completely gets gummy and soggy. I love my muffins crunchy and at least not mushy and I also don't like them super sweet. Maybe next time I'll just tell them how to treat my muffin right! Salads were pretty decent size and the soups were tasty.

Myself, I like a little more sophistication in a menu and a place with a bit more ambience. Mimi's is a chain, however, and I take my elderly dad here regularly as it's his favorite spot. Lots of booths which he prefers to chairs. A menu with some no-frills, down-home offerings, portions are gigantic. Dad always has leftovers to take home and makes another whole meal out of them. And those muffins that are served with entrees are really yummy.

Mimi's Cafe is right by where we live in Dublin. The prime location makes it tough to miss. Having lived here for over a year, we have been to Mimi's just the one time. When you walk into Mimi's, it's a wonderful feeling, with the aroma of freshly baked bread wafting right under your nose. There was this elderly lady who was our seating hostess initially, but she probably got confused about something and confused us in the process and we were left stranded for a bit. We then had some young man, who apologized profusely about the slight mishap, seat us in a very comfortable booth. One star deducted for that. We took a look at the menu and it just seemed to have a mix of everything for lunch. I have heard that they automatically serve a basket of their bread for the customers to munch on while deciding their menu. It's rather disappointing that we had to remind the waiter to bring us our basket (which consisted of an array of breads). One star deducted for the lackadaisical service. We ordered the Pesto Pizza strips to start with and I was taken aback by the food portions. Alarmingly low for the amount you shell out for it. Nevertheless, tasty. We then proceeded to order the main course. I ordered a Vegetarian Flatbread wrap for myself and my husband got himself a vegetarian Ciabatta sandwich. While the proportion for the two sandwiches was pleasing, a lot is left to be desired. Overall experience - Hmm, we'd go back, and maybe try their breakfast menu this time.

Came in the evening time which was prime time for dinner on a weekend. Wait was only 10 mins which was a nice change of pace since it can sometimes take a lot longer. Server was friendly and did perfectly well. It was just the food I was more unhappy with. I ordered the crab cake which was more like a greasy ball of mush. It couldn't hold itself together and even worse it tasted like over salted crab with no other substance to make it more whole. It looked like cooked cat food honestly. I don't suggest the crab cakes here at all. You get three and the price for them isn't worth it at all. Go for the chicken pot pie or soup. You'll have better luck with those.

They're all the same, and they're all good. Great corn chowder and muffins. Great breakfasts. I just wish that one was closer to my home.

Nothing spectacular about this place - except for the French Onion soup of which they're pretty popular for. The Hubby had the French Dip and I had the Crispy Chicken Salad. He said that his fries were like cardboard and his sandwich was OK. The lettuce in my salad did not look, nor taste fresh. I just picked at the chicken & the boiled egg slices. Our server was some young college student who was more focused on fraternizing w/ her male coworkers than paying attention to the customers at her tables. We were there far longer than we needed to be. They do have yummy Hibiscus cocktails, though - think mimosa but with cranberry juice instead of OJ. I'll give 'em an extra 1/2 star for that... 2.5 stars

I just can't put my finger on what's wrong with this place. The food is ok, seems a little heavy (? don't ask) but I think the decor is stuck in a no-man's zone between an Italian place and a more down-home diner. Something is just a little depressing about it. On a positive note, the staff is very friendly and good looking. Ok this review makes no sense but this is how confused I have been the two times I ate there.

I've been to Mimi's Cafe numerous times before at their other locations around the Bay Area. I went here today after mass since my family & I were wanting breakfast at the lunchtime hour. It was very busy today as there were many large groups trying to get a table. We waited for about 25-30 minutes. Our hostess sat us a corner table near the window - a great location since it was away for the other tables and it was comfortable. The server promptly arrived to our table to take our drink orders and gave us a few minutes to look over the breakfast menu. I decided upon the crab & avocado omelette..an omelette served with crab and jack cheese - with bacon & avocado on the top. It was served with a side of red potatoes. Very delicious and very rich. The breakfast was served with my choice of muffin (a carrot raisin nut muffin) and orange juice. I like Mimi's Cafe and will definitely come back again. Cheers!

Horrible. Stay away. I only went there again because a friend wanted to eat there because of the clam chowder. I had tried it a couple times and I have to say last time we waited forever to be seated. Then waited forever to get our drinks and the bread and our order. Honestly I would've walked away had I not gone there with friends. The food is mediocre and some servers give you an attitude as if they were doing you a favor. .

Mimi's is a reliable standby for a hearty breakfast. I don't usually like eating at chain establishments, but I don't mind Mimi's. Portions are HUGE, and prices are very reasonable. Last weekend I had brunch here. I ordered the breakfast ciabatta sandwich (the one currently featured on their website), but with scrambled eggs instead of the sunny-side up fried. The bread was lightly toasted, the cheese melty, the garlic spinach and ham were very tasty. The red skin potatoes were actually pretty flavorful and good - in the past I've had some not-so-good potatoes, so I guess it depends on who's making them. My SO ordered the pain perdu, and he got a TON of food - the pain perdu is already very rich and hefty, but it also came with juice, eggs, potatoes and bacon/sausage. I helped him out with the pain perdu, but in the end we still left a few bites because it was just too much food. You can't really go wrong with Mimi's. For breakfast, I've also ordered french toast and it wasn't bad. I usually stay away from the omelettes because they remind me of dorm food from my college days, but I have no complaints about the food here. I first discovered Mimi's in Gilroy and had a decent pork chop dinner there. It's basically comfort food at affordable prices with a homestyle feel.

This is becoming my go-to restaurant - I am loving it! The past few times I've been here, the food's been delicious & satisfying. Most recently, I've tried their French Onion & Broccoli Cheddar soups. Both were SO yummy and filling. The staff is friendly & attentive, & relatively speedy. I would recommend this restaurant anytime to anyone who enjoys classic American food.

im a fan of this place because it's a nice, homey restaurant where everyone knows your name (kinda like cheers, but instead of this place being a bar, it's a restaurant =) ) i like going here if i need to do some work and want to be outside of my house. nice spacious booths. excellent, friendly service. two thumbs up from me!

We went on Friday morning about 10am on our way to Pajaro Dunes which was the perfect time to go. I got a parking spot right up front and we walked in and were seated right away. If you've ever tried to go to Mimi's on a weekend, then you know what a treat this was! LOL. We got the usual: french toast, pancakes and a ham, cheese & broccoli omelet. The french toast was good and it was a huge portion! The pancakes were the best I have ever had. I usually can't stand pancakes but my daughter talked me into trying a bite and they were awesome!! I can't really tell you what made them so good but you have to try them for yourself. My omelet was way overdone! I hate runny eggs but rubbery eggs are not too great either. After a few bites, I gave up on the omelet and attacked my daughters pancakes. She couldn't eat them all anyways!!

ive had a good experience with the service here the couple of times i have come to mimi's. i have eaten here for breakfast and dinner. the food was not too spectacular, nor was it memorable. the decor in the restaurant seemed like too much, it was too busy. i would prefer not to come back, but the boyfriend likes this place.

I used to love this place as one could order breakfast any time, not anymore. They changed policy last fall. The dinner selection is not a whole lot to rave about but I'll list what I do find tasty and worth returning for: Pistachio chicken, vinegar salad: A nice combination of sweet (candied walnuts) and tart (cranberries). Corn chowder soup: Great when you are feeling sick, though it is a bit heavy and non-brothy. Quiche Lorraine: A bit heavy so probably won't order it again, but it was pretty good. The breads that they put out before your meal arrives are pretty good as well. If you order tea, you get a whole tea caddy to choose from, so that's nice. I'd say go early for breakfast more so than dinner, but it's a great place to have a conversation if that's the nature of the meeting up.

I probably will not be going back. The food at best acceptable. My kids ordered pancakes and when they brought them out they were hard from being left under the heat lamps. Of course they remade them and brought fresh ones out, but it is just the fact that they came out hard and stale the first time. Service is at best ok also. There are too many other places to go instead of going back to Mimi's.

We had our post wedding luncheon here and I was pleasantly surprised. I tried Mimi's once before in 1997 (San Mateo location) but never bothered to come back but after this recent visit I was surprised how many items on the menu I wanted to try. The french dip sandwich I had was good and the service was quick and attentive even though we had a party of 25. Also my wife's jumbalia was really tasty. I would definitely come back to try more items on the menu.

Good food and a great variety... can get pretty busy but service has always been pretty good. I don't have a favorite, I usually get different things each time, but I think I most often get the quiche meal, comes with fruit alil salad and a yummy muffin... The muffins make the meal, I save mine for the end, as a dessert, the spice is pretty good! Anyways good for casual dinner before a movie or when in the area, I do recommend off hours just because I HATE the Hacienda parking lot and all the crazies that must own large SUVs or trucks but still haven't figured out how to drive or park in parking lots.

Nice decor, large parking lot but hard to find a spot cuz of all the movie-goers. Food is good, but nothing stands out to me. Unable to accomodate large groups. The staff is pleasant. Usually, we pass Mimi's and go somewhere else instead.

We've been here a few times and the things I have tried were simply bland. My daughters have never been overly impressed either. They do serve really good bread and muffins, but the rest of their food has never lived up to the bread they start it off with. I also feel like they are trying too hard to be a certain way. It feels forced and staged instead of comfortable. Not sure if that makes sense, but don't know any other way to describe what it reminds me of. The wait both times has been super long. I'm not sure why anyone is willing to wait 30 minutes to eat here because I don't find the food worth the wait time. Can't say we'll ever go back.

I like this place. I was expecting the food to be below average due to some of the recent reveiws but I was wrong. I'll admit, I was definitely a bit skeptical to come here but my friend insisted and said it's one of her favorite places to have breakfast so I gave in. The day before, I was imaging that they'd have banana chocolate chip pancakes on the menu. And guess what?! They actually had it as their special! How ironic is that?! Obviously, I ordered the banana chocolate chip pancakes. They were soooo delish. They didn't go cheap on the choclate chips either....they were oozing out of the pancakes. This meal really hit the spot. My friend had the french toast and substituted her side for fresh fruits. She seemed to enjoy her toast but said the fruits (pineapple, cantelope, and honey dew) didn't taste that great. This is one of the better breakfast chain restaurants. If I had to choose between this place, dennys or carrows, I'd for sure come to Mimi's! The place is a lot more welcoming and homely too. Doesn't feel old at all!

I give Mimi's five star because it's really at the top of its game for what it is (a chain). I've been many times, and the service has always been friendly and pretty swift (important if you're following your meal with a movie at nearby Hacienda Cinema). I've tried lots of things, almost all the soups (all are great, points to the french onion for its cheesy crouton on top and flavorful and not over salted broth). I love the pork chops. The soulful soul is pretty good. The meatloaf is excellent. And one day I was just craving a turkey dinner and this is the place to find it, without having to roast an entire turkey! It was tasty and all the sides were great. I love their steamed veggies that come with most entrees. Plus, they'll substitute and give you more veggies if you opt to not have the accompanying potato or rice side. The desserts are fantastic -- I frankly think their cheesecake is better than Cheesecake Factory's, and a much better value for a larger slice of melt-in-your-mouth cheesecake. I think the prices are quite reasonable -- it's a nice place to go with a family where there's something for everyone. Plus, I love the breads they bring at the beginning of the meal -- the carrot bread is fabulous! It's like a nice dense piece of carrot cake without the cream cheese icing. I also love the cute New Orleans' style decor -- it makes me happy to see they've taken the trouble to distinguish this place from all the similar restaurants where they cram every wall surface with movie/pop music memorabilia (think Applebees/Red Robin).

Bravo, Dublin's for having awesome service for the traveling folks! My second review on Mimi's Cafe, its definitely consistent. We like consistent. Comfort Food, free bread and muffins, amazing coffee all make this an easy decision when it comes designating a place to eat. Luckily off the freeway, we hit this spot out of convienence. The waitress was on top of things and didn't let any of our drinks go empty. Good Job, Dublin...Good Job.
