I love in and out burger. I love the off the menu, menu. A great late night stop. This location in particular serves up great burgers and fries. Its one of the best and in little cow town Davis. So thankful for it. LOVE YOU GUYS!

I'm vegan, so I was pleasantly surprised when I realized I had an option here! Their veggie burger with no cheese, no spread, and added pickles, onions and mustard is so simple, yet sooo good! Their fresh burger bun is what makes this meal a delight! The service is also above par, especially for a fast food place. The server exuded an extremely friendly vibe when taking down my order. I also love their ketchup stations! I believe their potato fries are amazing, and am yet to try them! Overall, I can see what the hype is about: the fresh food, VERY affordable pricing and excellent service! I would definitely come to In-N-Out again!

Pros: - Staff was very friendly and enthusiastic. - Food great as you expect. - right off the highway Cons: a wait line

When stepping in to this In-N-Out burger, it feels like I'm stepping in to any In-N-Out ever. It's a generic feel which is the same no matter where you are. Some may find this comforting. I don't find it to be much of anything. My new fave is ordering a hamburger with XE= "eXtra Everything." And Ketchup INSTead of special sauce. With chilies. At least I think that's what those abbreviations mean. One thing I messed up on is ordering grilled onions. They asked me if I wanted onions. I said yes. I failed to ask for them GRILLED so I ended up with a slab o' raw onion. And the ketchup dispensers are annoying. One is supposed to take an eensy weensy little half dixie cup looking thing (or 6) and fill it (them) up. One way to avoid this: take your tray and place it under the ketchup spout. Press the button/lever. Repeat until desired ketchup level achieved. Other than that, it's a consistent burger. My burgers off the grill spank the pants off these, but that's not a fair comparison. I think the ingredients here are very fresh which makes them tasty. And somehow, I think they're less expensive than the ones I create at my grill.

This In N Out burger rocks! The double double meat well done, no cheese or onions, protein style hit the spot! This place is always clean and the cashiers are great! I will always stop by this location whenever I go through Davis. Great job!

Good. It's right off the 80. If you haven't been to one yet.. What cave or Southern state have you been living in? ask about the off menu menu

You can't really ever go wrong with In-N-Out. Except this location might be a bit busier than other places just because it's in a college town and is right next to the highway. I swear I feel like the drive-thru takes longer than actually just going into the store sometimes. 4 because why drive-thru take so long?!?!

Animal style hamburger extra crispy buns with chopped chilies, extra veggies, and a neapolitan shake please! Favorite burger fast food of all time! Cheap, fast, fresh and mouth watering burgers. What more can you ask for! Neopolitan shake tastes way better than one flavor, so why not blend it all together?! Chopped chilies makes the burger tangy and spicy, and gives that nice punch to each bite. Fries: because they're so fresh, it's not oily crispy and so I'm not a fan of their fries. It's similar to wingstop fries but thinner. When I feel somewhat healthy, I'll order a protein style hamburger, hold the special sauce and replace it with ketchup. Drive thru kinda takes a while at this location, so if you're in a rush I would order to-go inside.

I came here twice while I was staying at the Hyatt Place UC Davis. The first time their drive thru line was long, but moved quickly. However, my second visit, there was only one or two cars there aside from me but they were moving way slower. The amount of time it took for me to get the food compared to the last time I was there was enough to get the food and get back to the hotel. It was weird.

For the longest period of time (8 years) I was anti-burgers due to a serious food aversion I had as a child. In-N-Out helped me cope with my issue and showed me there was more to life than just white meat burgers. Service: Don't let the long line inside or in the drive-thru scare you away. They're fast and efficient at what they do, all while being friendly! Food: Yum. I've never had any problems with my orders, even during the peak hours. No problems with the quality of my burgers either. Zero complaints! Environment: Loud and very busy! It's always crawling with students no matter what time of the day it is, students need their In-N-Out fix. I like to go through the drive-thru and then park in the lot and eat in my car. Fast and comfortable, I don't have to worry about finding a table or getting off my butt at all. Overall: Come with an appetite and a tolerance for college students!

I wanna give this location more stars cause In n Out is In n Out and it tastes damn delicious anywhere, but why don't you ever get my order right? I know an animal style grilled cheese is technically politically incorrect since an animal style entails the patty being grilled with mustard, but ya'll know what I mean. Grilled onions and pickles. What irks me most though, is when I ask for extra lettuce and tomatoes every time and never get any extra. If anything, it always looks like my sandwich got gipped on veggies. Please for the love of god give the vegetarian more produce!

Whenever I drive past this In N Out, the aroma seriously reaches into my CLOSED WINDOW car! It makes me crave some at that moment. I haven't had a bad experience here yet, and hopefully won't have one! The staff is always friendly, welcoming and patient whenever I'm here. I always see at least one staff member cleaning tables too, which is nice! Recommendation on burgers: Animal style hamburger! :) Delishhh. Get an extra side of 'spread' aka thousand island sauce to add more into your burger and/or fries! :) I sometimes order my fries 'well done' to get that extra crisp in the fries. Oh, be prepared to wait if you're going in the drive thru line.. I feel like there's always a long line for drive thru..

First off, before you choose to eat a hamburger anywhere, read Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser. That excellent expose of the beef processing industry should be required reading for all meat eaters. That being said, In-N-Out Burger is mentioned as being one of the few establishments that source their products from more humane places. Their French fries are made from fresh potatoes, cut right before frying. For fast food you can't get much better. When the hubby wants a burger, I'm willing to go with him to In-N-Out. Glad he doesn't like McD's or else we'd be seeing less of each other.

It's In-N-Out, everyone. There are no surprises, you know exactly what you're getting. I enjoy a hamburger, double meat, extra produce, with raw onions. I get a side of well-done fries and I call it a day. Unfortunately, I had a weird mixture of fry textures the last time I went. I enjoy eating them like potato chips and what I got was some soft, some lukewarm, and some fries that were scalding hot. I've notice this place is kind of sloppy with its vegetable placement. It's not the end of the world, but some people make my sandwich real pretty and I appreciate that. I find it hard to imagine some one saying, "Hey, I heard about this burger joint, it's called In-N-Out. You ever been there? Maybe we should check it out some time." Of course everyone has heard of In-N-Out. Definitely check this place out if for some weird reason you have never eaten here - maybe you're from a part of the country where you eat Hardy's regularly or you're foreigner. The food is affordable, they make it when you order it, and most importantly, it's tasty and memorable (as opposed to say a McChicken from McDonald's). I guess you can't ask for more than that. Well, I mean, other than making sure my fries are in fact well done. Thanks.

It's In n' Out. It's perfect. The most incredible burger you'll EVER eat for $2.35!

Every single time I drive or bike by this In-N-Out, I start to crave their smooth vanilla milkshakes, yummy fries, and comfort-food burgers. Their menu is extremely simple, which makes ordering easy and stress-free. The burgers are delicious and affordable. I'm a fan of the Animal Style burgers and fries, which are part of their "secret" menu. (Animal Style burgers include caramelized onions, and Animal Style fries are topped with melted cheese, In-N-Out's secret spread, and grilled onions.) Every time I visit this location, the employees are extremely polite and helpful. The manager frequently walks around the tables to make sure that all the customers are completely satisfied. If anybody has even the smallest complaint, the manager will immediately apologize profusely and offer that customer a free meal without hesitation. In addition to the delicious food, this exemplary customer service is what has converted me to a loyal In-N-Out fan. The restaurant is clean and the service is very speedy (as their name would suggest). Pro tip: Often times, if you order a milkshake, they'll make it for you right that second behind the counter. Then, you can sip on that until your burger is ready to enjoy.

If you haven't tried in-n-out before, then you're definitely missing out. If you already have, then you'll probably agree with the general consensus: it's oh-so-good! Delicious, affordable burgers every visit. Simple menu of combos and single items to order from. There's even a "secret" menu that includes the popular animal fries (fries with melted cheese, onions, and their thousand island-like dressing). Now, is this the best burger place in Davis? Maybe....maybe not....there are too many restaurants with their own style and variety of burgers. But I think it's one of the better fast-food joints because you can always count on getting a good burger and fries EVERY TIME. As for the customer service, I haven't had any problems yet. The servers are usually welcoming and helpful. They were pretty on top of cleaning the tables during my last visit, which is nice when there's a lot of people coming in and out. The parking lot at this location is pretty small. Finding a spot can be a struggle, so give yourself some time especially during busy hours and weekends (otherwise you get grumpy when hungry...like myself :P).

The burger with grilled onions is a favourite with me, hence the 4 stars, but the fries are dry. Sometimes they're basically glorified potato chips. The fries used to be better around 10 years ago. At that time, I would've given In-N-Out 5 stars.

  • Vania C.

If you come during a lunch or dinner rush, it'll be a while before you can get your food. Aside from that, service is always really nice and quick. For a fast food restaurant, they have decent burgers, fresh produce and yummy fries. I always get my fries with no salt so that I can adjust it to my liking (a little salt and a lot of pepper!). It's also a huge plus that the prices are fairly low, I can pretty much get a filling meal for around 5 bucks (which is pretty rare nowadays). Living so close to an in-n-out is fairly dangerous as I can easily get a burger on the way home. It's always a quick and easy solution to those days when I don't know what to eat and/or don't want to cook. There are usually some homeless people right outside in-n-out, so if I have the extra cash on hand, an extra burger can go to someone that needs it more than me.

I like cheese burger here, especially with animal style. This is the burger place we come most often. Every time we want something quick and tasty we would like to go there to grab a bite. The serve is really quick though there is always a lot people there. Also stuffs are friendly and nice and clean place. I come again and again! :)

I love In-N-Out!!!! So spectacular! So fantastic!!! So much happiness is one bite!!! I can't wait to get a whiff of those delicious burgers! Completes every California trip! Nom nom!

Definitely my main to-go place for cheap and delicious burgers as a college student! What's also great is that they are open late :) The location of this In-N-Out is quite convenient. Close to the freeway, gas stations, and downtown Davis (which is perfect when you have those late night drunchies) ;) Their burgers and fries have always satisfied my cravings. I remember one time my boyfriend Gabriel N. and I decided to go big and order a 4x4 Animal Style Burger with everything on it and an Animal Style Fries. And let me tell you...I finished the whole damn thing AND I was still a little bit hungry...I probably should have just ordered a milkshake with my meal. Now a days, I can't always order that same meal just because I know better to treat my body better :P My usual meal from In-N-Out now is: *Double-double, with everything on it, double-toasted buns, grilled onions, and extra veggies. If I'm really hungry then maybe I'll strive for that 4x4 again. *WELL DONE FRIES. I don't get my fries at In-N-Out any other way ever since I found out that you can ask your fries to be cooked in so many different ways. If you love crispy fries then you should definitely ask them to be well done. I also put pepper in my ketchup to dip with my fries and let me tell you...oh damn. Screw you In-N-Out for always being so damn good whether I'm drunk or sober. You have always pleased me well during my college years at Davis.

I don't even know why I'm Yelping In-N-Out, everyone who lives in CA already knows how amazingly good it is. Different locations have varying hours of operation, but since this one is located in a college down, Davis students have the perks of longer hours! My go-to is a hamburger with no onions and light on the spread with well-done fries. Pretty much you can customize this anyway you like. You can choose protein-style, animal-style, etc etc. You can even turn it into a vegetarian burger if you wanted to! Google up the "secret menu" before coming here! I was told that every In-N-Out location is opened by someone that knows the original owners, which is how their quality and freshness is guaranteed. KEEP IT THAT WAY, In-N-Out! :D

  • Roland C.

As a college student, I needed convenient food for a busy schedule. In-N-Out fulfilled my needs well. Cheap, delicious, and savory. I ordered hamburgers with extra everything, because it still the same price. They are always consistent in flavor and texture. The fries are crispy. The servers were polite and always on task to clean up. Easy parking for bikes and cars.

  • Paige S.

Standard In-N-Out, but the parking lot is small, difficult to get In-N-Out of (yeah, I just did that) due to the gas station, and the drive-thru is horrendously slow. In-N-Out usually has great drive-thru service, which is one of the reasons I love them, but this one needs to pick up the pace. Not my choice In-N-Out to stop out on the way to the bay, but just fine in a pinch.

This was and still my go to spot whenever I'm around Davis. It was my go to spot back in college, and whenever I'm passing by Davis and feels like a hearty fresh burger, I stop by this lovely in and out. Staff is always super friendly and attentive. There is always parking, and the wait is not bad at all! One time, not gonna name which in and out, but i waited 30 minutes just to order my food. LOL never again. Davis In-N-Out, you will always have a place in my heart! Everrrrrytime- protein style hamburger, no onions, with chopped chillies please! NOM NOM NOM!

  • Cece N.

The foods great! The employees are crazy friendly! I love it here. They have the most polite and extremely happy employees. Carissa has got to be one of the most friendliest people that I have ever met at here or anywhere. I hope in-n-out knows that she was a great hire!

    (5)
  • Austin C.

Who could hate this place?!?! Love their secret menu cuz that is all I order. Double double animal style, possibly protein style, animal style fries and a Neapolitan shake!!! So delicious!!!! I love going here over most fast food places and it is definitely healthier than some fast food. I try not to eat it all the time but every once in a while I get a craving. The wife craves it alllll the time. I only crave burgers every now and then but it's a fight between five guys and here. Five guys is closer to where I live now but the wife would rather have here. Each place is about the same whether it's the pleasantries of the people working or the extremely long lines. Always worth it though if you are craving a fast food burger but want something healthier than the normal fast food places.

    (5)
  • Megan M.

As far as In-N-Outs go, this one is only okay. The food is fresh and the fries are well-done, but nothing really makes this place stand out. The one in Vacaville is better. I think the problem with In-N-Out in Davis is that it's located just outside the "downtown" area, and right before you get to the freeway on-ramp. It gets REALLY crazy and backed up during lunch and dinner-time rush -- especially during school events. NEVER go here during Picnic day, visitors' weekends, or on nights when the school is having a home game. It is insane.

  • Takeshi C.

"I'd like an animal style 3 x 3 please, with whole grilled onions, patties cooked medium-rare. Also can I have well done, animal style fries and a diet coke because I dont want to get fat...just kidding, I don't care... a neapolitan shake, please." You look to your left, to your right, then take a quick glance behind you and there's this certain "swagger" you have because you're thinking to yourself "yeah guys, i know the secret menu *puts on sunglasses*" There's just something about In-N-Out's customization option that draws people towards it. In-N-Out menu is fairly simple, you got the classic burgers, fries and the shake, but no one and I mean NO ONE that's well-versed in hamburgers and In-N-Out, orders the standard burger. While the "have-it-your-way options" are nice, the main thing that sets In-N-Out apart from other fast food joints is the quality. No pink slime here, just your good ol' classic authentic meat with fresh veggies and fresh everything else, made to order. If you're reading this as a person who's never tried In-N-Out or don't know what it is, I suggest you study the secret menu before getting that tough exam question..."What would you like today?" Good Luck!

  • Eileen L.

In-N-Out, you're always here for me when I'm in dire need of food in the middle of the night. The epitome of affordable! At the same time, delicious and quality fast food for such a great price. This location is great and lives up to all the other In-N-Out's food quality. I do notice service is a tad slower here in comparison to other locations I've been to. Nonetheless, food is always bomb dot com. Google the 'secret' menu, customize your burger and I guarantee you a meal that will make your belly happy :)

Had to try after the raves I heard about these places.got the double double. I have had better and some worse. fries have a weird waxy texture and taste.McD has nothing to worry about on that item. burger was assembled to order and lettuce and tomato were fresh. I ain't hurrying back.

  • Ronny S.

Hi-ya! Quality food and pretty darn quick considering it was near midnight in Davis. I know about animal style burgers and fries, but you can also get the fries more crispy also! Anyway fast service and the food hit the spot. They have a system down and it is 5 stars.

    (5)
  • Corey Y.

Service at this in n out was pretty quick. I like the atmosphere here because it is quiet and somewhat inclusive. It is easy to find seating whether you want to be inside or outside. The downside is that the chairs near the windows need to be greased or oiled because when people turn on them, it becomes loud and squeaky which I find annoying in a public place. I like to spin on the chairs too but I really don't mind the spinning even though some older adults like it when kids sit still and don't make any sounds.

Dad's tummy was rumbling and he was talking about McDonald's and Jack In the Box. Thank goodness I spotted the In-N-Out sign in the distance! There was a massive traffic jam on the 80, so I think a lot of other people had the same idea we had and decided to pull over and eat something instead of sitting in gridlock. The place was packed! I ordered a burger, fries, and a chocolate shake. Everything was good except for the shake which was thick and warm. It reminded me of the milk shakes they used to serve in highschool. The place was also messy, but I blame that on the total slobs that were eating there and couldn't seem to get their trash in the proper receptacles. I just don't know WTF is wrong with people these days. Other than that, Dad and I enjoyed a delicious meal and the staff was very friendly and attentive!

    (4)
  • Jonathan T.

This in n out burger location is conveniently located next to a shell gas station right off of I-80. Just like any other in n out location, lines are long though food was prepared quickly, tables and restrooms are clean, orders are accurate, cashiers confirm you order. I feel like it's much slower through the drive through here than at any other in n out locations. Just park and order inside.

  • Lydia M.

This place is ALWAYS amazing. Employees are always super kind, helpful, and clean. The place is always clean including the bathrooms. Always willing to fix an incorrect order. Very fast and efficient even when it's super busy. All In N Outs are great!

  • Vivian C.

This will be a straightforward review. It's an In-N-Out. It's a good in-n-out with nice and fairly fast service. No its not a "gourmet burger" but its a dang good fast food one. It's located in a college town which means its gonna be packed at times and not busy at all at others. It's cheap, it's fast, it's delicious. Enough said. Personally my favorite pig-out order is: extra extra well done animal fries and an animal style burger with extra grilled onion. Perfect meal :P

    (5)
  • K P.

It's in-n-out burger! Of course it's good! What's not to like?!? Oh and get the animal fries..you're welcome...

  • Vince E.

Funny what a sleepy town Davis can be in the late evening. In N Out is always a go-to any time, but this is especially so if you're grubbing in the middle of the night. Their pieces have gone up a little, but they still have one of the best burgers around

    (4)
  • Destina A.

Food is ALWAYS made to perfection, exactly how you order it. Service is incredible and everyone is super accommodating.

    (5)
  • Michael G.

Absolutely the worst inn and out burger. First off they messed up my fries. They gave me new fries and while eating I found I very long black hair mixed in with them. Disgusted I threw the rest away and gave up on them. I also have celiac disease and noticed bread crumbs all over the lettuce of my protein style burger. I threw that away too. If I had eaten it i would have been violently ill for days. Don't ever eat here.....oh and while I was there, a gnarly fight between to tweakers broke out for at least 5 minutes in the parking lot

    (1)
  • Savannah H.

If you decide to take advantage of the drive thru, be sure to check to make sure your oder is correct before you head home. They've literally gotten my order wrong the past five times I've been here. I really wish I was exaggerating... I love in n outs food don't get me wrong, but it just seems like the staff couldn't care less about their job.

    (1)
  • Craig J.

    Good burger, disgusting fries.

  • Peggy H.

This location is ALWAYS busy, so finding a seat can be a major challenge. Likewise, finding a spot to park is equally difficult. Service inside the restaurant moves at a quick pace. The staff is very pleasant, and they all appear to enjoy their job. Standard menu items are consistent with other chain locations. The food is served piping hot and the shakes arrived frosty cold. What sets this location apart from others is the vibrant energy of the university students.

In-N-Out had never failed me. Thankfully they stay open really late. My favorite thing to get is a double single (two patties and one slice of cheese), extra toast, with grilled and raw onion; add chilies. Also, its not at any extra cost. The extra toast on the bun keeps all the sauces and juice from dripping out. I'm an onion fanatic so I love the option of getting grilled onion along with raw onion. (I also know they do a grill whole onion too). And lastly, the chili peppers add a spicy kick that I need. I also love their fries; order them light well so they will be super fresh but are a little crispier than normal. They are consistently excellent in their service and quality of food. All the workers are really accommodating for a great dining experience whether its sit down, or getting it through the drive through. Overall, it will be one of my favorite places to grab a burger.

  • Melissa M.

Ahh classic IN n OUT! Probably one of the most popular spots in Davis and they stay open till 1am! Love their fries! Love their burgers !! Your never left feeling stuffed, perfect amount of hunger satisfaction. Not a personal fan of the animal fries though. The drive thru line is typically long but you usually get your food quicker if you order inside. Staff is friendly!

    (4)
  • Ronnie S.

Drive thru here is always busy so try and sit get a seat inside unless you have time to spare in the drive through. Seating can be hard to find sometimes especially at lunch hours but it's never a long wait. The staff here is always super friendly and the food quality is greater than other in n outs I've been to.

If you are from CA, live in CA, heard of CA, you have heard about In-N-Out, the best fast food burger joint on the West Coast. Don't trust me, try it for yourself & you'll become a believer!! My go to order is a cheeseburger with grilled onion & pickles (no spread because I'm weird) and fries well-done (this is a MUST to make them nice & crispy). For about $4, this meal is fast, filling, & delicious. It's not the healthiest, but hey, you're not eating fast food for it's nutrition content. There's often a line 5-10 people deep in store and in the drive thru, but don't worry, it goes fast. They only have like, 10 items on the menu so people can't dwell in line for too long!

  • Chinsin S.

In-N-Out Burger is always a great backup to any night's plan. The burgers are always great, but sometimes the fries are hit and miss. Like any other fastfood restaurant, they sometimes use "too old" oil to cook your fries, which will leave a nasty after taste in your mouth. This did not happen once, not twice, but more than three times. I have complained a few times only to receive a similar tasting order. Great place for college students to snack on at night though!

  • Chantal T.

I used to come here in college. Fast forward over 10 years later (don't do the math. Yes, I'm old) and I still love it here! The employees are always so friendly. The food is consistent and fresh. The service is fairly fast whether you dine-in or go through the drive-through. Nom nom.

Now why aren't these burger joints in Florida already? At least South Florida. Burger Fi hasn't been around since 1948 for nothing. They use fresh ingredients including beef and bread everyday. The workers at the two I've been in CA would rival Chik-filet's customer service. The place was clean and busy as heck. Love the burgers and it's always a bargain.

Their food is simple and delicious. Not sure how their meat is because I'm a vegetarian but I love their grilled cheeses. I wish there was another In N' Out in Davis because the line can get pretty long sometimes. Definitely worth the wait!

Food was delicious every time I came here! Always gotta get the double double with grilled onions

  • Andy Y.

Like all In-N-Outs, this place is spectacular! While their menu is small and is simple, everything on is very good. The Burgers are always great, with freshly prepared tomato, lettuce, special sauce (thousand island?), and toasted buns. They are a bit small but extremely cheap at only $2-3 each (depending on how many patties and cheese). You can get them "protein style" (wrapped in 2 lettuce leaves), animal style (extra sauce, pickles, patty grilled in mustard, extra delicious!), or with any number of cheeses or patties you like! Fries are decent, a bit dry to some, but perfect for me. You can also order them "well-done" (crispy) or on the softer side as well. If your feeling adventurous, get them "animal style" where they come with cheese, chopped grilled onions, and special sauce. YUM! Shakes are decent, nothing spectucular but not horrible. You can get them "Neopolitan style" with flavors of Vanilla, Chocolate, and strawberry mixed together. My only gripe here is that the serving cups are extremely small. Again, I don't get them very often as there are obvious better shake places. Overall for the PRICE, this place is KING. No wonder everyone from California loves this place, you can't beat what you get for the price. Everything is always fresh (well, a burger is burger right?)

The burgers are d-lish. I like "Protein Style" with no bun. Fries are crispy and good. Pop Machine has perfect syrup to soda ratio. Love it. Only four stars because it's ALWAYS busy. Drive through is packed too.

Oh my god! slowest location ever! Even when there are only two customers there. I have never had a slower service! I love In'N'Out and no matter where I am I will sniff one out lol unfortunately given that I live in Davis I have to visit this location the most and disappointed every single time.

It would be very easy to write a one line review for In-n-Out. Just writing "It's In-N-Out" . After all who doesn't like and doesn't know about In-N-Out? Maybe the vegetarians... but even they can get grilled cheese from the not-so secret menu. This Davis location is right off the freeway, next to Shell gas. Yes, it gets busy but I've seen worse. Considering UCD population numbers it's not actually all that bad. At In-N-Out it's all about the consistency. They have a winning formula and they don't tinker with it. There are no "Promo" or "Available for Limited Time" items. They do burgers and fries, that's it. There are varieties of different "secret" customizations but that is it: burgers and fries. The drive through is not as fast as one might wish but again, that might just be a part of the appeal of In-N-Out, that you can actually see your food coming out fresh. The burgers are great for the price. You can probably get a better burger in Davis but it will be in the vicinity of $10. For drive through/fast food it doesn't get any better than In-N-Out. Final note: they're open until 1:00 AM (1:30 on weekends). Let the late night cravings begin!

Good, cheap, open late, and delicious. I love me some animal fries with a 4x4 animal style burger with no pickles and extra lettuce and tomato. :D This In-N-Out has been super consistent for the past few years here. It can get super crowded, but it's expected because Davis is a college town. The service here is surprisingly fast. When it's not super busy at night, some of the workers become waiters and waitresses and will even bring your food!

I've been craving burgers all week and finally got the chance to grab a bite to eat for lunch! I love coming here for burgers because it is fast and made to order. I didn't think there will be a lot of people at the time I went, but there were tons as usual. The parking lot isn't that big so it got full fast. My friends and I circled the parking lot a few times till we found an open spot. I love this place because you can kinda customize your order. Today was my first time getting the double double. I didn't expect it to be that big, but it was huge! I added extra veggies and whole grilled onions. I also got well done fries (fries that are cooked longer for more crisp). I can usually eat a lot, but I was so full from the burger that I couldn't finish my fries. Speaking if the fries, when I picked up my order one if the workers mentioned that they can remake my fries if it was too well done. I was kinda in a rush to leave so I didn't have time to check if it was too crispy to the point of burnt, but it was nice to know that if your food is not satisfactory they would remake it for you. This place has really good customer service, quality for the price, and quick service. Come here if you are craving for a quick juicy burger.

I have to say that I should give this place a 4-star. The hamburgers here are the best in Davis. This is the healthiest fast food restaurant that I know, and the fries are well made. Try not to put too much salt on the fries because they can make it extremely salty. For the hamburgers, I prefer without onions. Without onions is cheaper.

There are not enough starts! This restaurant sells itself. We go a few times a year for their grilled cheese, frilled onions with everything on it and fries. We don't eat meat so this is perfect for us. It taste just as good. We always get friendly service from everyone at the window, they always have a smile and this place is always busy.

  • Katharine A.

We stopped here on our way up to Reno. It wasn't for fun, but because of a tragedy and we needed quick, good food for nourishment. Service was pretty slow at this In-N-Out comparative to the crowds we see often in the Bay Area. Food took longer to sling than it does at home with a full house. Burgers were good and fit the need.

  • Abe M.

In-n-Out is so solid it hurts coming out. Workers at this location are always friendly, give you alot of fries and keep the place clean. However, I must warn you-- if you come around dinner time Thurs-Sunday, be prepared to wait 35 mins+ for your burger-- For In-n-Out has replaced top ramen as the cuisine for starving college students

    (4)
  • Lauren G.

That first bite into an in n out burger is like that refreshing gust of frigid air-conditioned air you feel as you're walking into a building on a hot summer afternoon in Davis. Every other bite is pretty magical too.

  • Serra S.

Every thing I ever learned about customer service Corrine in the drive thru nailed it.

    (5)
  • Kenny W.

This in n. Out is the one! Although it's in a college town it was not a mad house. Usually it's packed and crazed at in n outs but hey who knows may have just been perfect timing. I'm so use to long waits lines and people talking overly loud but that not the case at this location

    (5)
  • Kevin L.

Always a good place to eat late at night. Can get crowded and is a bit out of the way. Animal styles and shakes.

    (4)
  • Lane B.

Props to this location for putting up with what must seem like the entire youth population of Davis coming through the drive-thru at midnight. I always get the same thing- a cheeseburger, no spread, with raw and grilled onions. Sometimes I'll splurge on a vanilla shake or animal style fries. The food is tasty, consistent...I'm not complaining. One question though, why can't I get a decent, non-mealy tomato slice on my burger? I keep hoping, but I think next time I'll just ask for no tomato...

    (4)
  • Art N.

Great tasting burgers and fries in a nice clean atmosphere with polite and cheerful service at a reasonable price. In-N-Out sets the bar pretty high for reasonable eats when on the road. Hard to find a better tasting meal for $5 these days.

  • Michelle L.

Oh Davis. I'm always reminded I'm in a college town. Whenever I go to this In-N-Out, it's probably lunchtime, right after work (dinner time), or late-night. Always. Busy. Drive-thru lines are so long, they have that "runner" guy stand at the entrance to the drive-thru to start taking orders already so you don't have to wait to get to the first window. Choose to go inside to place your order? Good luck finding a place to sit or stand. Each register has their own way of assigning order numbers (as well as the drive-thru order numbers), so don't be surprised if the food that's ready ranges from Customer Number 32, to 36, to 17 to 55 all in a span of 15-30 minutes). As long as I get my food, it's all good though. As far as secret menu items, I enjoy neopolitan shakes, animal style fries, and cheeseburgers or double-doubles with grilled onions, mustard grilled. Haven't tried the extra toasted bun, 2x4, or well-done fries...or the infamous Flying Dutchman. Mmm...

  • Jen N.

My entire house is composed of In-N-Out employees, with the exception of myself, but I swear to the Flying Spaghetti Monster that I will remain unbiased. In-N-Out is hella awesome! (Be extra nice to Brandon, Alyssa, Andrew, and Thomas! xo) Maybe you've got the drunchies and/or munchies, or you're just starving in Davis at midnight: In-N-Out is always the place to go for your broke booty. The good service exceeds fast-food expectations, the greasy food is delectable, and its simplicity just hits the spot. I always just get an animal-style cheeseburger with fries. Their fries by default aren't my preferred level of crispiness, but you can get them crispier. I usually forget to ask, so my poor babies are always limp. Ask for extra spread! The food quality is superb compared to other fast food chains (although I haven't tried Five Guys yet - don't shoot me!). Only if the East Coast knew what they were missing out on!! FYI, Shake Shack does beat In-N-Out in all aspects, however, the former is much pricier. Who even made up this illogical comparison?! This location can get too busy at night or during lunchtime. Get a friend to snag a table while waiting. Davis summers are so warm that you can sit outside comfortably at night. The panhandlers outside this place are surprisingly friendly, so don't be too scared even if they're staring you down. P.S. in-n-out.com/menu/not-so…

I went here around 11pm on a Saturday. There was a lot of people, but no lines inside In n Out. However, there was a long line out in the drive thru. I decided to eat inside instead. My order was taken correctly and came out in no time. My only complaint is the cleanliness of the place. The restroom was really dirty. The trash was over flowing. The tables were also filthy. It's still great burgers, but cleanliness would give the place a whole new look.

  • Miss E.

Took the window guy 10 whole minutes to serve the car in front of us :(. Other than that, love how fresh the burgers here tasted. My cheeseburger came with more lettuce than typical at other locations which in turn tasted more refreshing. Loved it. As for the fries, I liked how long they were in length but the oil after taste was not a fit for me. Great location to stop by on my commutes.

    (4)
  • Raymundo A.

Love this branch here in Davis! The customer service is amazing and they take their fine to make sure your order is right. Being that In-N-Out it's really popular, it can get busy. Once I get my food, though, I'm in delicious town (lol!). Anyways, I hope the restaurant keeps up the good work.

    (4)
  • Addy Y.

Delicious burgers, great customer service. What more can you ask for? The workers have always catered to my custom orders. They are always super patient whether it be with drunk students or customers who forgot their wallet so they have to scavenge through their car for cash *cough*. They're super friendly too! Oh, and extra animal sauce for your burger? Well-done fries? You got it! Almost everything can be made for your preference. I personally love the neapolitan shake, cheeseburger w/ grilled diced onions, and regular-cooked animal fries! *drool* In-N-Out being a late night fast food chain calls for at least 4 stars in my opinion. With food and service that never fails to satisfy, I'm thankful for such a haven that us Davis kids can enjoy. Be careful when you're driving into the parking lot if you're coming from Cowell Blvd and then through the Shell gas station. Cars and people seem to zoom in and out of the area, where there are also cars coming out the freeway that merge into the tunnel road, and slow pedestrians holding up cars at the dreaded Davis stoplights.

  • Diem T.

It's always busy here and they have great service all the time! You can never go wrong with inn n out. I always get number 1 with grilled onions and their special sauce on the side!

    (5)
  • Beau H.

Here's your standard decent In-N-Out burger which is to say it's great burgers and fries and decently fast given the enormous line. I only go to In-N-Out any more for fast food, and the Davis place is a good stop on the way to the city from Sacramento. Recommended!

    (4)
  • Jess s.

In n out is my go-to burger joint. Hamburger with grilled onion extra special sauce...mmMM i'm salviating just thinking about it right now. I always ask for extra special sauce to go with my fries (I dont like how animal fries has cheese and grilled onion on it) as well as some of the peppers to put in between my burger... mMMM YUM!!!

  • Davet M.

Never can go wrong at In-and-Out!

Nice that the double double is great no matter which In-N-Out you go to. Seems like the drive-thru is always packed when I go through but gotta get my meat and cheese fill once in a while.

ANIMAL FRIES. ALL DAY. I wish they had more options for vegetarians, though. Either way a vanilla milkshake always soothes my worries :)

  • Brandon R.

This burger joint is the best! I come here all the time whether it is for dinner or just a snack! The delicious French fries are to die for. Also, their burgers are the bees knees! I strongly recommend this place for anybody. They are even vegetarian friendly so don't be worried! WOO!

    (5)
  • Andrew W.

Ah, In-N-Out how I enjoyed you for lunch on Friday. The regular cheeseburger animal style with grilled onions for under $4 just makes me breath a sigh of relief when I have a burger craving. Although better than McDonald's, Burger King, and Carl Jr. it cannot top Davis's Burger and Brew. Back in freshman year, I could eat a double double and a regular cheeseburger and I still probably can. But a cheeseburger is just fine for lunch. If it looks really busy inside you can always head to the drive-thru. What I recommend: Animal style on whatever burger you decide you want

    (4)
  • Rob O.

Used to work here but haven't in almost ten years. I had eaten at INO maybe twice before getting the job, but in a rare reverse I fell in love with the food AFTER seeing it made. Now I eat there whenever I can. I tell people I think of it as food that's made fast, not fast food. Very highly recommended.

In and out their all the same oh so good. Always pack and still good food. Try their quadriple if urr hungry. Go large baby yeah.

In N Out doesn't really need ratings but I figured I'd try and add some new tid bits about this one. Bathroom (at least the ladies): Clean, it's important Service: They forgot to add my grilled onions, but they did add it in once I pointed it out to them. Fries: Go for double-fried. More like McD's.

I'm a health nut and since I've been trying to eat healthier, I've been eating lunch at In-N-Out. Whaaat? You ask? My answer: Double-Meat, Protein Style, with onions. If I know I'll be talking to people later, I'll get the grilled onions. This burger perfectly follows the Primal Blueprint (similar to the Paleo Diet) that doesn't allow grains. I thought that missing the bun would make the burger taste like some cheap imitation of a real burger, but how wrong I was! I much prefer it this way. The lettuce wrap is crisp, moist, and just all around delicious. The meat is processed in house, made only from ground chuck (no other beef parts like spinal cord material *shivers*). You can really taste the difference. This makes the perfect lunch for under $3. I'm already craving another one. I hear you can ask for pickles and I'll be sure to try that.

In-N-Out, it's home. I grew up with In-N-Out in SoCal, so I was glad there's one near campus. This place only gets 4 stars because sometimes they get my orders wrong and homeless people sitting there scare me sometimes. You must get well-done fries for sure! And animal-style it while you're there! Burgers are made with thin patties, but you can always add more patties. I'd rather have more patties than one huge one that doesn't even taste good.

    (4)
  • douglas b.

I know this goes against all the hype you are reading regarding how great this place is. Yes fresh, yes fast, fries not greasy and shakes very good... When I got my single cheeseburger, the patty is so small I had to open the burger to find it!!! Like it was smaller than a single mcdonalds burger patty!! I couldn't believe it! So much hype for so little meat...if you want the closest thing to a vegetarian burger I highly recommend it.... If you are lured here because of the sign that suggests you are getting a "burger" you can do a lot better elsewhere... Even Wendy's is more meat and equally high quality...jus sayn'.

  • Emily T.

OVERRATED! Sometimes their fries taste dry and crusty as if it was picked up from the floor and tossed in the bag. Also, I expect animal fries to be cute little animals.

  • J. W.

I LOVE in n out. I love it. The food is amazing and cheap. I have come here 4 times on my way to school. (I live in Sac.) I am ALWAYS waiting too long to get my food. They are so freaking slow. This last time I came here, I was the second person in line. I waited over six minutes to get my cheeseburger. No fries, no drink. I don't need frills. I just wanted a cheeseburger. I honestly thought I would get it faster if I didn't order anything else. Nope.

  • Daniel W.

As good as it gets. In-N-Out burgers, what more can I say? Those juicy, delicious creations of God that He so gracefully bestowed upon us. Favorite order: double-double animal-styled protein-styled with well-done fries and extra spread on the side. It's a party in your mouth. You're welcome yelpers.

This In N Out is just as good as the next In N out you find anywhere else in California. Simple cheap good fast food, nothing more nothing less. That's what is to love about In N Out. You get no surprises, just what you want. The only weird part about this particular In N Out, unlike the others I've been to is that this one seems to be a bit a bit of a paradox (not sure if that's the right word but we'll run with it for now). On days they are super busy, my order comes out very quick, making me very happy (=D see the happy sign?). But on days when they are slow and empty, my same order takes longer than the people who ordered after me (=/ see the WTF sign?). Somehow, when they are busy, they are fast, and when they are empty, they're laid back. Not like that's gonna stop me (^_^ see the ^_^ sign?). I'll still love In N Out and will always love it no matter where I am.

In-N-Out will always be my go to place. It's cheap and delicious! Try a Neapolitan milkshake :)

Orders are always correct, food is always consistent in taste/flavor. Great staff, friendly and professional. Best burgers!

    (5)

All the In-N-Outs are pretty much the same. The quality of the food is consistent wherever you go. I'm just a fan of their burgers, their great service, and their not so secret menu.

In N out is oh so good been a staple in this hood try everything animal style will fill you up for a while Don't like them animal style fries eat too much and you'll die.

  • Adorable T.

I don't get what's not to like. These burgers are delicious, filling, and cheap. My regular: cheeseburger with extra everything, pickles added, grilled onions, ketchup and mustard instead of spread, add the peppercinis and we're good, baby.

    (5)
  • Terri L.

Delicious. Good. Cheap. Amazing. Burgers. I don't go here too often, but when I do come, I always get a hamburger, just the simple hamburger with onions. No fries (which are not that spectacular). No drink (just water since I don't drink soda). It's always busy! Being right next to the freeway doesn't help. Since I drive to school from a far away city called Fairfield, I'd rather just go to the Fairfield location. I can't park my car there ever! I have a bike on campus so I'll just ride those five minutes from campus. Very very delicious burgers. That's all I can say. Mmmmm. :P

  • Cali N.

Protein-style double double with extra grilled onions. All day girl. Their service and burgers are always amazing and consistent. They are open late so if you're like me and get off of work at 10pm, In-n-Out is the place to go for a late night dinner. Just be patient, this is a college town so it can be crowded and your food might take some time to come out. Worth it though!

    (5)
  • Elieke D.

The one and only fast food place you will find me at! Order the protein style hamburger...lettuce instead of hamburger buns. DELISH!

    (5)
  • Lynn P.

Sorry In-N-Out but you might want to start implementing more stringent quality control measures. I know food poisoning will almost inevitably happen from time to time the more frequently you take chances with food and I've experienced my fair share. However, this instance has been especially worse than other times I've had it(having been ill from 6am to 4pm now & was perfectly healthy before this) so I'm downgrading my rating. I was careful in my analysis of what I ate yesterday and since I only ate 2 meals and could safely eliminate the meal before the In-N-Out burger, it was definitely the burger this time. There was a massive line of people getting burgers last night, and I can only hope that those people fared better. Buyer beware!

    (1)
  • Lisa K.

Normally, I'm a fan of In-n-out, but this location puts me off these delicious burgers. Every time I come to this location, they somehow manage to screw up my order. Not pleased at all.

    (2)
  • Troy M.

Great burgers. Seems like the staff works faster and really cranks out the burgers. Let's go in-n-out forever!!!

    (5)
  • Jonathan Y.

The reasonablely priced burger that doesn't make you sick like Mcdonalds or Burger King. You have to love coming here. It's one of the few places that close down late in SF and is perfect for grabbing a bite after a late movie. YES!

    (4)
  • Ryan K.

Just same as other innout i prefer habit burger grills. but still a good quality burger in a comparatively cheap price okay place to go

    (3)
  • Eliza S.

A good as any In-N-Out! I used to love coming to this place for a late night burger during finals week. Its always clean, the staff is nice and the food is yummy!

    (4)
  • Pamela L.

This is one of my favorite places to go late at night in Davis. Also because it's also only one of the few places that's actually open. Their burgers, fries, and shakes are phenomenal. When I'm feeling guilty about eating fast food late at night, I get their protein burger, which is a burger wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun. It's delicious! I also highly recommend getting grilled onions on any burger you order.

    (5)
  • Amy Q.

Can I get a 3x1 animal style with a side of chiles? Thats a 3 patty, 1cheese with grilled onions and a banana peppers. Its a daily craving, not once a month kind of craving, but almost every day. Damn the bus that drives past it everytime I get home. The smell itself is intoxicating all year around. No matter sunny or rainy, I will always have room. Especially this Davis location, its clean, and consistent of their food preparation. The napkins (which you will need) are always stocked and their friendly about water cups! I sometimes splurge on a black & white milkshake(vanilla and chocolate) and extra special sauce for dipping their fresh cut addicting fries.

The quintessential midway stop for my snowboarding trips. After a full day at Northstar, In-N-Out really hits the spot. Last time I came I decided I deserved a treat for resisting the resort prices and heat lamp pizzas at Nortstar, so I went all out. I got a number 2, trusty cheeseburger with Animal Style Fries and a Neopolitan shake. The best dinner ever. I love how there is actual vegetables in their burgers, not some crappy soggy pickle like at the Golden Arches, ya feel? It's like a salad in between my buns (well the burgers buns, you know)! The cheese is melted perfectly and the buns are unlike any other. Animal style fries, can't go wrong with cheese on fries. Their fries are the best btdubs. Their shakes are thick. Sometimes too thick where you have to eat it with a straw. Hey, I don't mind. Love love love. In-N-Out, you could never fail me.

We had dinner at In-N-Out on Sat 2/7/09 after spending all day at the Annual Sacramento Museum Day (FREE). It's right off Hwy 80 so easy to get on & off the freeway heading home. It's across the street from Redrum Burger. We got: A regular hamburger no onions $1.69 - ok, messy to eat w/ the goopy sauce. Hubby got Double Double animal style - Animal style has grilled onions on the not-so-secret menu w/ Well Done fries, & a Medium drink. in-n-out.com/secretmenu.… $2.99 dd + FF well $1.29 + Med Diet Coke $1.30 Subtotal $7.27 + tax 7.75% (cheaper than stupid East Bay tax 8.75%!!) .56 = $7.83. Under $10 for 2! Did you know they have peperoncini under the counter? I found out watching someone ask for them & getting them. Wow! Something I didn't know about until today. Separate bathrooms available. Women's 2 stalls/2 sinks. Daily: 10:30a-1AM Fri & Sat 10:30-1:30AM

I usually stop by here when I commute from the Bay area to Sacramento and vice versa. The workers here are very friendly & attentive, which is always a plus in my book. I've never had a mess up on my order here! The burgers here are really yummy for a fast food joint & I like how the fries are freshly made & fried as well. A+!!

    (5)
  • Rachel H.

Pros: So cheap. I like that they will grill the onions for my burger. Also, the employees are super friendly. Cons: I've never gone and really been in and out... It is pretty slow. Also, habit burger tastes better in my opinion.

    (3)
  • Christopher L.

Strangely, I go to In N Out for their fries every time. While I look forward to their burners every time I come, I believe In N Out uniquely cooks their fries. While all fries in some level are deep fried, these fries seem to be the closest to actually cooked as possible. Would always come again!

  • Domingo C.

Delicious food as always. However parking lot is pretty small... it was a nightmare.

Always fast & cheery service, even when busy. I've been coming here for years and only once did my order get done wrong -- but no worries, they took it back and corrected it immediately!

I've been to every In-N-Out burger that is within one hours drive and this is definitely the best location! I order a double double. It only comes with the meat, cheese, spread, and bun. The reason why I get it this way is that the burger is piping hot. I think I was spoiled by this location because they get it perfect every time. I've had to return burgers at other locations because they usually put one of the produce items in and it detracts from the taste and heat. With it being so close to us, it's always convenient. The wait isn't bad either. I've been here when they've been slammed but they still get my order right.

    (5)
  • Betty W.

In-N-Outs everywhere are always generally a solid four stars for their legit food (I echo the general sentiments of everyone else: get stuff animal style, get your fries well done so they're not limp but crispy, and try their creamy shakes!) and congenial workers. But for this one, I sadly have to dock one star off from that because of the almost ridiculous wait that I've encountered almost every time I've been here. Gotta rep the California chain though, and much appreciation for the freshness of their food, despite it being just burgers and fries. So, definitely come. Just don't forget to bring a book. Or a thousand-piece jigsaw puzzle.

    (3)
  • Karen H.

I love In-N-Out, it's cheap, the quality is decent, and the service is great. ...except the line around night time is ridiculous, as everyone is trying to get their food for their late-night studies and all-nighters. For example..If In-N-Out closes at 1am, there is a huge line starting around 12:30pm. Wish the parking was bigger, it's sometimes really difficult to find parking as well. I love the grilled cheese, or hamburger protein style (no buns, just lettuce) Their milk-shakes are delicious...tastes just like ice cream! Great for college students looking for food under $5!

  • Carl S.

I used to love In-N-Out when I was a little kid and all the way to my teen years. However, I haven't had it much since then. Last night, I was craving something fatty and satisfying..haha I drove to the location at around 12:15am and I thought the wait time would be quicker...ummm no. Lol Boy was I wrong! I was at the drive thru lane for about 35 min...35 MINUTES!!! It's supposed to be a drive thru at In-N-Out! Namesake fail? lol I was still willing to wAit tho because I wanted the damn grease ridden fatwiches. :) I remember hot, freshly made fries when I was a kid... ERR..WRONG! The guy at the window was nice, but the food was Boooo!! My fries were COLD and semi squishy! I asked for Well done! The double double was cold and I couldn't finish it...it tasted like its been made a while ago. x.x I literally felt gross and lethargic after eating that...I was definitely not satisfied. Considering the wait (there was no one inside the lobby btw, so wait shouldn't be long)...I expected much better. :( Good thing I had my bubble milk tea with me from Quicklys to soothe my pain...hehe

Who plans an entire work day around In n Out? I do. Once a month I head to Sacramento to put in a "hard" days work. I strategically left the house to arrive at the front door of In n Out at precisely 9:30 AM (yes, they officially do not open until 10, but those who know have knowledge that the doors always open early) and order up my monthly cheeseburger and fries. I have gotten over this and now am on a once a year or so routine. My cardiologist thanks me.

In-N-Out has never failed me regardless of what location I go to. First off, the burgers are delish! I normally get the hamburger or cheeseburger animal style/protein style. The service is usually pretty good and it's always so busy. The fries are always so yummy. Although I don't eat fastfood, when I'm craving fastfood, the only place I'll go to is In-N-Out!

How can you not love in-n-out? Their secret menu keeps things fun, but they continually serve the best quality fast food you can get in California.

Continues to offer a great burger - extra pickles with an over-toasted bun.

Nothing like a strawberry milkshake to cool you down in the summer. Don't even think about calories if you're going to pull up to this joint.

In-N-Out is always good. Best place to make love to a cheeseburger. Other than the obvious satisfying food and good service (mostly), this In-N-Out is cool because you might see someone you know in this college town. It's good for a late night meal and it's biking distance from the dorms. I always get a double-double animal style, fries, and cup for water (save a little money). I rarely get a milkshake. The only "bad" thing is that this In-N-Out can get really busy (like most In-N-Outs) but every experience here has been positive.

I didnt get the hype for years but now I learned how to order: cheeseburger medium-rare animal-style light in the spread, add ketchup & chilies with no tomatoes. French fries light well. Root beer float, light on the cream. Extra peppers on the side. However, I can only justify an order like that on the drive back from Tahoe after a weekend of heavy snowboarding...

    (4)
  • Simei Y.

The spreads on the burgers are amazing, and you can get a meal for about $5-6, with fries and drink. Honestly, you don't save on economies of scale - ordering one of the 3 meal combos available is the same as ordering them separately. I'd stick with the burgers and fries, but am sorely disappointed by their milkshakes. For some reason, they're never as good as I remembered a couple of years ago- either my reference point has changed or milkshake quality is getting worse. Anywho, try not to read nutrition information recently placed directly under their menu items until after you've eaten.

DOUBLE-DOUBLES FOREVER.....One of our favorite stops while traveling thru Davis on I-80. In N' Out Burger is the ONLY fast food chain that my wife & daughter will patronize. Even though its a "fast food chain"....its family owned & operated...all of their stores are owned by the Snyder family in Los Angeles. They pay good wages and benefits to their "Associates" (their warm & fuzzy word for employees), most part-timers make over $10 an hour (rare in fast food) while managers can make up to $80k per year. For more good stuff about INO, check out the book "Fast Food Nation." I was about to mention that this location suffers from a crappy parking lot and access, but so does the one in Roseville, Auburn, and Vacaville. (We can thank the People's Republic Of Davis for their failure to require a bigger parking lot--- I guess they thought it would just be college students on bicycles going there!)

This place is the worst In and Out I have ever been to...and I have been to a lot. This was the only mistake food wise on our trip. We had several students and two chaperones become extremely ill after eating here. They screwed up orders- which worked out for Ryan because he would have gotten the food poisoning instead of our other chaperone Andy (sorry buddy). The meat was not properly cooked and the grilled onions were to the point where they were inedible. My grilled cheese with grilled onions was borderline edible. I was trying to ween myself off of the meat and starch diet...thank god I didn't get a burger.... the fries were cold and not appealing in any way shape or form. I am sticking to my San Jose, Salinas and Southern California In and Out restaurants.... The two good things were 1) tons of outside seating 2) the high school kid from reno was doing a stripper dance on one of the tables

In-N-Out is an easy 5 stars. Fresh lettuce and tomato that are still cold on the first couple bites and a delicious patty made from never-frozen beef (so they say). Plus a hamburger costs only $1.69 and fries made from a potato in front of your eyes are only $1.29! I can't imagine a reason to get a burger at another fast food place (as someone mentioned, In-N-Out is not really a typical fast food restaurant). The only negative is that they get very crowded around lunch time and it may be really tough to find parking. If you have a small car, I suggest parking along the wall by the drive-thru exit or the curb by the north entrance or the curb near the Olive Dr. driveway and eating quickly!

It's In and Out.... what can you say that hasn't been said by other people. I probably swing by this place every 2 weeks.

  • Alisha T.

I love In-N-Out and have nothing to say against their burgers and fries. Their shakes aren't bad either, although the strawberry one always tastes a little wonky to me. Anyway, I have few complaints about this particular location. It does get very busy at times, especially on evenings when students come to sober up or hang out for whatever other reason. So you obviously have to wait, but considering how busy it is, they do a good job of getting you your food. The Woodland one is definitely slower in comparison. The parking sucks when it's busy, but in my 4+ years in Davis, I never had to park on the street.

Richard Pro here with another review. I'm a huge fan of In n' out. In fact, I might even go as far as saying this is the true gourmet burger. A burger that actually has FLAVOR! I can't believe it. I prefer In n' out to habit and burgers and brew and black bear. It's cheaper, faster, and you can buy 3 burgers for the price of one at the other burger places. As a result, you get about the same fill at every burger joint for the same price. Service is good, interior is bright and clean. What i don't like is how some workers handle cash and then the food. They're all rushing everywhere so they switch stations constantly. One guy can be preparing fries, then doing drive thru, then passing out ketchup packets. I wish their fries and shakes were better because they actually look very tasty. I think the main appeal of adding fries and shakes to your meal is because in n' out has a very small menu. When all you see is the same burger plastered on every combo (you know what I mean, forget pointing out one is a cheeseburger and one is a double double or whatever), I think psychologically you want to buy some fries or shakes. In comparison, mcdonald's has like 20 items, which is overwhelming, and you end up only buying one. 4 stars. Satisfying meal that packs a punch whenever I eat there.

  • Gina N.

I think this was the place i had my first In-N-Out experience. People always laugh at me bc I go and order the burger with out the meat. I don't eat meat, but what people might not know is....their grilled cheese sandwiches are GREAT!!! It's pretty much a toasted bun, with grilled cheese & onions, w/ tomato. You have to try it before u all knock it, esp if you're vegetarian. When you order, tell them you want the grilled cheese sandwich. I usually get the"grilled cheese sandwich, w/ grilled onions, light on the sauce." sometimes i add the chocolate milkshake which is super duper yummy as well.

How can you say no to In-N-Out. This is the best place to come to when you are craving burgers and at a late night. This place is opened till 1:30 which is perfect for college students staying up studying or just messing around =). I always get a Double Double Animal Style, Animal Style fries, and a regular drink. The burger is just amazing. One bite into the monstrous burger, you feel your mouth exploding with flavor. The meat and melted cheese just melts in your mouth. The lettuce is crisp and cold, while the tomato is fresh and good. The grilled onions add flavor also. I don't like pickles but it adds the extra crunchiness into the burger. The sauce... seems like Thousand Island, but it is not. Something makes it very special and a must in all my burgers. The fries are something to die for. Animal style includes regular fries with two slices of cheddar cheese melted, grilled onions, and the special sauce. How can you say no to that!!! I love getting extra spread sauce just because it is amazing mixed with ketchup. Wow just writing this review at 1:30 in the morning makes me crave In N Out. However they are close at this time =(. I can just hear my stomach calling out to me "In n Out...In n Out" This is the best burger place ever. I highly recommend it. Gotta have it at least once in your life.!!!

It's In-N-Out, what more is there to say? Good quality burgers, service, and prices. It does get packed here more than others I've been to, but it's to be expected being right by my alma mater.

    (4)
  • Ray Y.

3 WORDS: GRILLED ONIONS and PEPPERS. Add that onto your hamburger. Trust me. It's amazing! Makes me feel like I'm eating a gourmet burger but at half the cost.

  • Daniel S.

I Love In-N-Out! For some reason, I always think this fast food joint is the healthiest because I can see the workers cutting the fries fresh but I know it's probably just as bad. Anyways, on regular days I usually order a cheeseburger with grilled onions, fries, and a drink. During midterms and finals/stressful weeks I order the double double with grilled onions, animal style fries, and a milkshake. The drive through normally has a line but it goes by fairly quickly.

I don't feel AS bad eating fast-food when it's at In-N-Out. It's the lesser of all the other evils- made more fresh than the other food chains. Animal Style Fries with a side of extra Pickles, Animal Style Cheese Burger, and pink lemonade= one happy camper. Just Animal Style anything, and you'll be good. As for this location, the wait can be sometimes a little long considering how everyone's getting their grub on here.

Probably the worst burger I have ever had 5 mm thick max & tasteless. Tomato & onions OK, fries limp & "old". Not like my memory of In & Out. Won't be coming back here. Like Ever!

  • Stevy E.

BEST FAST FOOD BURGERS YOU'LL EVER HAVE! My fiancee likes the cheeseburger but I choose the double double animal style. Instead of animal style fries i just order the fries with spread sauce, cheaper and i determine the amount i want, plus it tastes the same. The fries aren't all that, definitely not a fast food fry you can save for later.

  • Dan H.

I don't know how anyone could improve on In-N-Out. It does the drive-through burger thing better than anyone else. I've been to many of these franchises and they are all excellent. I just wish this one was located closer to the north side of Davis.

    (4)
  • Killa D.

Go here, get a #1 (dbl cheeseburger + fries + soda), find a seat, kick back and enjoy. They have a drive-thru that gets pretty packed. Either way service comes with a smile, AND ur order is fast!

Can ya' really go wrong with In N Out? In anticipation of my drive up to Tahoe this weekend, I am eagerly waiting for a nice pit stop at In N Out in my old and BEST college town; Davis! I was here about a month ago, did the drive thru and was pleasantly surprised to see an actual person take our order instead of us lambasting the speaker on a stick. (I kind of liked that...) The other day I heard about the "Flying Dutchman", another item on their 'secret' menu. Not sure if I'll be diving into that, but looking forward to chomping into a nice warm burger, with animal style onions, and the addictive thousand island sauce they lather on. Does it really get any better?

    (4)
  • Susanne M.

This was a good In-N-Out. All I remember is an intense hunger for bun-cheese-beef-cheese-beef-bun, and the double-double did the trick-trick. Then I went to another location a week later to relive the magical moment, but it wasn't the same. Therefore, it MUST have been better than average. Kudos to you Davis location.

  • Felicia G.

You have one job, In-n-Out, and you do it well! Cheap, simple, quick, and delicious. Had a regular burger with grilled onions with fries and an iced tea. It was ready in about 5 min, and it was Saturday during commencement weekend. So, color me impressed! Burger was juicy and well-seasoned. Fries were crispy and not greasy. Portion sizes are good without being ridiculously huge. I didn't feel gross and bloated like I do after eating at most other fast food burger joints. Will definitely come here again.

  • Adam R.

This location almost never has a long wait, unlike Mountain View! The double double/protein style never fails as a solid budget-friendly keto option.

My better half and I wen to grab a late night meal at 10:20p last night, figuring it would be quick as we were the second car back from the ordering post in the drive thru. The service was so slow we finally pulled out of the drive through at 10:46p, trapped in drive thru for approximately 25 minutes. The employee at the drive through window had no speed in their step, taking almost 4 minutes for our small order alone. She attempted to give us the wrong order, then forgot our drinks. When we got home the burger patties were horribly overcooked; tough and leathery ironically wrapped in paper with the words "Quality you can taste". The french fries were crunchier than potato chips and had less flavor.

Only in n out burger that I've ever been to with bad service :( Employees in the drive thru are rude.

Bout as good as any other In-N-Out. Good location, cheap, pretty quick. Sometimes crowded. It was packed at 1 am on a Thursday night, but if you're a student that can be fun. Ran into a bunch of friends there. Gotta dig In-N-Out so I'm glad its there.

    (4)
  • Mark F.

There usually have the parking lot full, so I park at the other side of the parking street outside in n out. I think is because of lot of crowded people came from somewhere else. Usually UC Davis students goes there frequently.

  • Allison C.

I've lost track on the number of reviews I've written for In & Out. They are pretty much always awesome, courteous and give me the best, tastiest burgers ever. My newest fascination is the double double protein style. It is without a doubt this gluten free girl's best friend while driving throughout California.

    (4)
  • Daniel H.

An In-N-Out is the best thing you could possibly ask for in a college town. This place is always busy inside and at the drive-thru. Food is consistently well made and service is great. Once they forgot my grilled onions in my burger and they fixed it right away. While I'm waiting I sometimes like to sit and watch them as they make the food. Nothing to hide here! Fresh and good quality.

IN N OUT! Who doesn't love In N Out? Especially with a location so close to home. I always find myself heading over there for a quick bite to eat, especially during midterms or finals. Although, it is not the best option to eat, it makes things a bit more bearable. I just wanted to give my local In N Out some love since it is actually a pretty decent one.

    (4)
  • Tiffany D.

I am glad that they have this franchise opened up in Davis college town! + Cheap, quality burgers, fries and shakes for starving college students + Drive-thru - no need to get out of the car + Opens throughout the late night hours + Convenient fast food during the weeks of midterms and finals when one does not feel like cooking or have time to cook + Great customer-service + I cannot think of any negatives!

  • Sheena T.

Mmm.. animal fries or a cheeseburger meal with fries with the onions caramelized can really hit the spot! I would much rather get my junk food or burger splurge on at In-N-Out as opposed to Wendy's, Burger King, McDonald's, etc. Although McDonald's fries are devastatingly addicting, though double-fried... Anywho, I love In-N-Out because it's employee-owned, unlike the other big corporations, and their burgers are just better. Better tasting, and more quality to it! Their milkshakes are also pretty bomb, I've always went with either the vanilla or chocolate. Sure, you may pay a bit more, but it's worth every penny. Also, the menu looks simple enough, but you can actually order as many patties as you desire as it's kind of a part of the whole "secret menu" thing In-N-Out has had going on, including the animal fries (a slice of cheese, thousand island dressing, diced onions, etc.) Its so artery-clogging but so good, yet so bad (for you) at the same time! Its worth the 10,000 mile jog or extra bike ride around campus to burn off those calories. Definitely a huge temptation every time I have to exit off Richards to get to school and see the big, blaring In-N-Out sign. Nevertheless, a personal go-to fave to satiate junk food cravings.

  • James D.

Awful customer service. The worst in n out I have ever been to. Guy who handed me my food in the drive thru was looking at me as if he had a problem with me. I asked him how he was doing today and just stared at me. Awful awful awful service don't go here EVER unless you want weird Mormon jerks to stare out you.

HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO REVIEW THIS PLACE?! I cannot be impartial- this is like Mecca for me. As a Californian, my love for In-N-Out has only blossomed in my absence from my home state. I make a point of dramatically returning to In-N-Out whenever I'm within reasonable proximity just to make a scene out of voraciously scarfing down animal-style fries and crying "WHY DID I EVER LEAVE CA?! HOW COULD I HAVE LEFT THIS!?!" So, yeah, it's pretty good.... As a former vegetarian, I've grown to love what is known as "grilled cheese, animal style"- it's like a fully loaded grilled cheese, leaving nothing to be desired and saving those meaty calories for your diet-destroying milkshake (I opt for strawberry because it's delicious AND it's an adorable pink color that makes me feel dainty despite wolfing down a burger and fries). Really, those "in the know" pretty much get everything animal style- just don't do as a friend of my has done and accidentally order your burger "doggy style"- this will result in confusion and embarrassed chuckles from the nice people taking your order. Oh, speaking of, have I mentioned how freaking AWESOME the service is at EVERY In-N-Out? The owners do this weird thing called paying their workers living wages, which results in an awesome work force. Gotta love supporting a great, family-owned company that serves heaven on a bun. Now I want In-N-Out. Dammit.

I was not born and/or raised in California and took my first trip to In-and-Out Burger last week. The food was not what I had been led to believe, as it had been built up for years. Specifically, the burger was good (for fast food), the milkshake was mediocre but fine, and the fries were very bad tasting (maybe under cooked? Kind of cardboard-y). However, the highlight of the experience at this Davis, CA location, were the staff. They were the nicest, most positive people I've ever encountered at a fast food restaurant. They projected an air of control, confidence, and genuine care. The place was packed but the staff didn't let that weigh them down, quite the contrary, they seemed energized by the commotion. It was a wonderful experience.

  • David C.

The best thing about In-N-Out is that all of them are consistently amazing. Their menu is so simple and plain compared to any burger fast food joint out there, but they do their burger right and that is all that they need to impress their customers. You can get your burger any way you like it. You can get one to three patties on your burgers, your bread replaced with lettuce, and your onions grilled, raw, or non-existent. All of it is up to you. If you want your fries or burger to go crazy you can get it animal style. A wild mixture of grilled onions, cheese, and thousand island sauce (Animal Style Fries Cost extra and are super messy). The next time I go I want to see if I could get an animal style drink. Sauce, onions, and cheese all in one cup. I would dip my fries in it of course. I wouldn't be crazy enough to down something that crazy.

  • Justin C.

What is there really to say? It's In-N-Out. Their burgers are rock solid. the service is always fast. Their always in a great location, usually near a freeway or on a popular thoroughfare. This In-N-Out lives up to the stringent standards that has made them such a huge success. Personally I like Mom & Pop places like Redrum Burger (formally Murder Burger) across the street but sometimes I just need my Double Double and a Neo Shake. I'll stop here when passing through Davis if Redrum isn't open.

    (4)
  • Alex T.

I love this In-N-Out. The service is great, the employees aren't rude and the food is great. It gets really crowded starting around 11am well into the lunch hours. I came afterwards, say around 4pm and it was deserted. Definitely will come during off hours. A+

  • Cynthia L.

This is my favorite place to go late at night when I'm craving some fast food! Super cheap and delicious. There are always a decent amount of people here, but they always get me my food fast! I love my well done fries with pepper and ketchup and sometimes a little bit of their special sauce!

    (4)
  • Stephanie E.

Meh. I know everyone raves about In and Out like it's the best thing ever, but I'm honestly unimpressed. For one, it's kinda pricy. It's obviously better than most fast food, and their ingredients are pretty good. I guess overall, I can see why people would like In and Out if their options were limited. However, for this particular branch, you could go to Redrum Burger right across the street and get 4 times the portion for cheaper. And way better food. If you're an In and Out fan, by all means enjoy. But if you're willing to branch out, head to Redrum Burger. You won't regret it.

  • Kiersten B.

If you've never been to In n' Out, go right now. Don't walk, run. This particular branch sets the standard for me. Never had anything go wrong. Once, my friends and I arrived just before close and they let us stay inside and eat for a good 15 minutes past close. Good guy In N' Out. Open til 1:30am on weekends

  • Tiffany N.

Having an In-n-Out in a college area is probably the smartest business move anyone can do. No matter where I am, I definitely love this place. I love that their fries are fresh and that their patties actually are the same size as the bun. I always have a pleasant experience going here whether it's at 12PM or 2AM. Like any In-n-Out, the place can get super busy and the waiting times can be insane. I think I've waited 30+ minutes for animal fries, and when I got it, they were cold. But I guess there's not much you can do about it, and it's not really the establishment's fault that they are so popular.

    (5)
  • Amy M.

The guy at the register named Patrick? So polite, always makes sure your order is perfect before finalizing it. Serves you with a smile even when you run in 5 minutes before closing.

In-N-Out is In-N-Out. It's tasty, it's yum and I get it at least once a month. Yet to disappoint! Double double animal style with extra extra grilled onions FTW!

  • Carol Y.

I cant say no to a protein burger and fries. all in & out burgers are the same! just different crowds!

    (4)
  • Joshua W.

It's an In-n-out, if you've been to one you've been to all of them. Great fast food burger and decent fries if you order them well done, but I never have really understood the cult following that they have. This one makes for a great stop on the way to Tahoe though because it's easy to get to off of the highway, and never seems to be as crowded as most In-n-outs usually are.

    (4)
  • Tom L.

College kids require very little to be happy. First give them some beer, then a place to drink it with their friends, finally finish the night off with a drunken trip to In N Out and just like that you have a group of kids so happy you'd swear they just won the lottery. I have had more drunken meals here than I can count. Even after a night of drinking I won't settle for anything less than a delicious double double from In N Out. If you try and tell me we are getting our drunk munchies from somewhere else, then we are going to have problems. In N Out deserves an honorary degree from UCD for taking such good care of their students.

    (5)
  • Jessica K.

To me, all In-N-Outs are the same. Same great quality and service. I've been to a couple of other In-N-Outs and they are all equally as great. Try to beat the lunch and "midnight snack" rush if you want to really get in and out quickly.

    (4)
  • Linda N.

Douse your burger in some extra spread and ketchup. Take out the onions if you don't want your breath to smell and still want to have friends. YOU'RE SET.

  • Harvey C.

It's In-n-Out. They're almost all the same, and this one is no exception. Lines can get long, place can get crowded. Food is amazing, as usual. 4 stars simply because I am not usually the burger person but like this place when I have a craving.

    (4)
  • Gina T.

The Dish: You can and should get anything here. There's nothing I can say that you probably wouldn't have heard already, but try the double-double animal style or the protein burger. Try the fries too - I personally don't love cheese so I get the fries alone and ask for a couple packets of spread. Ambience: Clean, just like every chain store. Love it!

  • Christina W.

VERY CONSISTENT, GREAT TASTING BURGER I like In and Out Burgers as a business, because I respect that they have a wonderful, moral foundation behind them, and they do what they do simply and well. I enjoy their double burgers very much, though they don't make the "Last Meal" scale. Also, their fries aren't "fried" enough for me; though freshly made, I need fries nice and crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside. [If you need wonderful fries, hands down, the #1 place for fries is "Burgers and Brew" on 4th Street in Davis.] "Last Meal" ranking is "Judy's Grinders" (#1), "Burgers and Brew" (#2), "Squeeze Inn" (#3), "The Putah Creek Café" (#4), and "The Graduate" (#5) for burger excellence.

Normally, I'm not a big fan of burgers because I grew up eating asian food all the time but, every once and a while (when I feel it's a fat kid day) I'll go have a burger here. So far, every In & Out burger location has been consistent. The burgers are fresh and delicious. The fries perfectly fried and always tastes fresh, never stale or burnt. I love that about this place. The only thing about all of them are the crowds! but that should be a good thing right? I'm pretty particular on the way I want my burger and they're always happy to make it that way. Service is awesome, food is awesome, and prices are awesome.

Best Fast Food BURGER!! I've been an In-N-Out fan since I first had a taste of it back in the bay. They never seem to disappoint for the price you are paying for the food. I love their double-double with extra everything. If you order than you are basically set for the whole entire day! A lot of people like their animal style fries, but I personally like their fries extra well done without anything on top except for salt. Just a note, you have to tell them you want your fries "extra well done." It give the fries more of a crisps taste and never a disappointment. DEFINITELY come here if you haven't tried it yet. GOOD CHEAP FOOD!

This is really a good In-n-out, fast, friendly, great food, I would highly recommend this place if your near by.

I love in and out burger!!! This one is on he way to the airport and also in the college town. This place can get so packed depending on the day you go. It can be packed with college students and also the community. But the burger is awesome. Double double animal style is the way to go or go off their secret menu and stack the heck out of it!!!

Not a fan of burgers, but I must say that their grilled cheese is pretty darn good. Also, the fries... YUM! These are what I usually get when I come! In-N-Out is super cheap too ANDDD (the one near my house at least) is open until 1 AM in a town where everything closes kind of early-ish. For me though, I think I only give it a 4-star rating because of all of the good summer and high school memories I have from In-N-Out , but based on the food only, it might be three stars.

Definitely one of the most convenient In n Outs in the Central Valley. An associate specifically named Jeremy was exceedingly helpful. I was there at quite a busy time and I had multiple issues with my order, but he certainly was an excellent employee and corrected the order. I would definitely return just due to the great service that Jeremy gave me.

Another burger review... well here it goes. Their bunless burger, "protein-style," was my first, and so I hold it dear to me, but a time comes when the first wasn't the best, and that time has come and past and I've ignored it and continued eating here for like a solid 15 years. One of the few places where a five-spot can still nab you you a burger, fries, and a drink. Tip: Extra crispy fries; ask for "well-done." Also available: pickles, pepperchinis/chiles, and extra spread (basically thousand island) for your fries. And for those who dare, animal style fries with a flying duchman. My order: 33 protein style grilled onions add pickles fries well and a coke. I swear I'm not fat.

Definitely THE go-to burger place in Davis. I love, Love, LOVE the crunch from the lettuce; the bread is toasted yet still soft; the cheese thick; meat flavorful; onions, tomatoes & animal style... oh, my! My brother is a fan of the "flying Dutchman" also. The fries are fresh (you can order them more well done if you like; I prefer them the usual way). OH!! THE SHAKES! I was obsessed with their strawberry shakes for a while too (and so was my cat who would have a few tastes when we brought the loot home). Getting to the drive-thru and out is sometimes tricky as it is at a busy corner right by the freeway, but it's definitely still worth it. The closest thing to In-N-Out where I am now is "Fatburger" which is fine for a fix, but we definitely don't go to eat burgers as much now that we don't have an In-N-Out anywhere near us. Yep, definitely want to stop in here next time I'm in town.... definitely!

I cant even remember how many times I've visited this In-and-Out during my two years at UCD. This is the best tasting burger on the planet, I dont care what anyone says! And if you dont like your burger cooked "animal style", then you are just being silly! For those that have never had this burger, animal style is basically order ing your burger with grilled onions. The milk shakes here are soooooooo good. The fries here are cut fresh (you can see it being cut behind the registers) and not salted (great for those health conscious people). The best part is that this place is cheap!!! The bad part is that this place is usually crowded and you need to fight for a seat and a spot in the parking lot. There is outdoor seating but beware the 100+ degree heat in the summer time!!! Ahhhh...the good old days.

In-n-out never fails, love it. I pretty much always get a double-double meal with fries and a drink, sometimes I switch it up with a shake or animal-style fries. I have still yet to order the "special order" (4x4, 10x10, etc.) My parents always loved coming here for a burger when they visited me during my college days here. The only In-n-out in Davis and the college kids love it, it's always packed.

I crave for In & Out! Let me tell you how to eat, kids... #3 Hamburger w/ grilled onions, sprite and request spread, please. Pour your fries into the bag and use that little fry container as a ketchup bowl. Pour some ketchup on one side and spread onto the other side. Dip your burger into that masterpiece I call "spread-chup" and bite into that mofugga. Dip your fries into that "spread-chup" and f*ck some sh*t upppppp. If you like to live on the wild side, request chillis on the side. They're pretty hot...in a non-sexual but highly spicy way.

College student = save money + save time = IN and OUT Not only that, but this place is littered with great memories. I remember freshmen year, since this place was open till 1am, we'd always go there for a good time. College kids can't ALWAYS eat out, so if you're looking for a place to suit and seat your friends, come to In and Out. They can't use the "I don't have enough dough" excuse on this one. The service is great, it's convenient, and the burgers are always fresh, so fresh I don't get my burger well done anymore. Their Neopolitan Shakes are great too, but will just speed up your way to your Freshman 15, Sophomore 30 or what not. Of course, you can alleviate that by biking over the over pass back home or under the bridge. : ) Myth 1: 2 boys once split a 20X20 Truth: Yes 2 boys, one by the name of mizzoki, and a now turned turkmen russ, split that thang. Myth 2: In and Out sells Filet o Fish named Flying Dutchmen? Truth: I, being super excited that I've found a new suitor instead of MCD, ordered it. Out came, on a red plate, 2 patties with 2 cheeses, literally. That's it, and a knife and fork. Myth 3: There was once a myth that they give away free fries during their close. Truth: Freshman year, my boys Cyrus and Sean and I were given their freshly left over fries. Now you know where the myth comes from. Come here Aggies!

This is part of my goal to try all of the restaurants in Davis before I graduate in the fall. Have you noticed the trend that all in and outs look exactly the same? Not only that, they all taste exactly the same (which is the great thing about them) My favorite thing to order here is a cheeseburger protein style with an order of well done fries (fries overcooked to perfection). When I'm feeling like I want to kill myself, I send a flying dutchman (two patties two cheeses) my way. It satisfies my stomach esp without the bun.

Got a random late night urge for food!? I swear almost 9/10 times In n Out is always the choice for my housemates and me. Of all the franchinesed burger joints I've been to In n Out has got to have the best I've had. On top of which, their service and food has never let me down! Fresh ingredients cooked to order for anyone's specification. Most like their burgers slightly pink and some like me like their burger a lil more well done, however you order it, they'll make it! Fresh fries, unlike frozen ones at other burger places makes me love this establishment even more! Watching them prep my food in front of me is always big in my book (so sorry for repeating it, but I think it makes them stand out just that much more). Even the fries can be made to order; my gf personally likes their crunchier than normal and gets those well done, great choice btw, like mini chips! The staff are also college students, but they work with the customer service skills that would rival Safeway ( who claims their main goal is to satisfy customer service by any and all possible means). The manager is always courteous and willing to work with me when I have to get large groups in and even when some of the events get a little rowdy, they take it all in and remind me it's "all good to us we're a college in n out, we love this $hit." Overall, great place to hang out and get a nice custom burger; not sure where to eat @ midnight...head down here =P

  • Minerva l.

I love in-n-out but this joint makes the burgers way too dry. They seem to burn my meat patty almost every time. I now like to order their animal style fries instead. It still satisfies my in-n-out cravings :) I would still choose their burgers over KFC or mcdonalds any day though. another plus about in-n-out: UCDavis always seems to be giving away coupons for free burgers so this place is a cheap option (aka free) when i want a fast dinner.

    (3)
  • Stephanie T.

Great burgers at a decent price. Although it does get extremely busy here, I don't find myself having to wait too long to put in my order and get my food. Generally, all In-N-Outs tastes the same however, here, it's a hit or miss sometimes. I've ordered animal fries here and my cheese was still cold. And the fries are occasionally soggy. The staff is always friendly, upbeat, and attentive.

    (4)
  • Charles L.

You can't go wrong with pretty much any In-N-Out in Cali. This place is no exception, considering the chains keep a very strict guideline on the quality of their burgers. Fresh every time and there are no surprises.

    (4)
  • Keith R.

Wonderful double double. My family just loves these hamburgers. And, they are not too big, so we can eat while we drive. The fries are just ok and sometimes great and sometimes not very tasty. Milk shakes are just so-so. Go for the cheeseburgers and the double double.

  • Matt C.

I like this In-N-Out a lot. My storage place is right around the corner so I've had a chance to come here a few times on trips back and forth from San Francisco. The staff is always unfailingly friendly. The bathrooms are clean. The food comes out as you'd expect fir In-N-Out (which is to say this is a good In-N-Out). They have outdoor seating which is nice. Don't go starving because you'll end up with animal style everything and an around the world shake and then you'll go into insulin shock and have to be carried away with your friends. Otherwise, nice option to have in town once in a while.

    (4)
  • Megan L.

This is an obvious choice when your in high school and want lunch... although the line is very long during peak hours (aka when you want to eat). Plus the animal style fries are to dye for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the Neapolitan shakes are fantastic

burgers aren't really the regulars on my everyday lunch menu, but lately i've been having a sudden craving. so i went here everyday for the past week n ordered a hamburger with BOTH regular and grilled onions. and 6 out of 7 times they manage to mess it up and only put grilled. i mean if its the first few times, whatever. but 6 times is a little much for such a simple task dont you think? my stomach was very disappointed.

Good, fast food in Davis???? No fair. I lived here for 4 years and just when I leave the place gets cool. This In N Out is a particularly good one...which isn't surprising because that's how Davis is. We always stop here or the Auburn store on our way to Tahoe or Reno. YUM!

    (4)

When I lived on Olive drive I would always notice the long lines whether it was for the drive through or cars parked in their lot. There is absolutely nothing to hate about In-N-Out unless you hate burgers so I can say that this is the best place to have a greasy burger with a delicious shake to wash it all down. I actually do not consider their style of burgers to be "fast food" although I know it is. Their food is always so fresh and actually has pieces of fresh lettuce, tomato, and onions (grilled please!) that top those burgers from McD or anywhere else. I am always entertained by watching them make french fries too....yummmmm! Not only is the food good at all locations I've been to, their customer service is always friendly too!

    (5)
  • Hen A.

catering to ucdavis colleagues and locals alike...longer waits during peak hours...misfortune of incorrect orders...orders of "animal style" for one and onions grilled on other....requiring longer waits to fix....bit understaffed in comparison...still offering good burgers with mcdonalds pricing....weary stop on the 80 road to reno... another visit and more mistakes...cheeseburger order, but a standard burger given...only experiencing errors at this location...hmmm...

my favorite burgers. i could always go for one. i don't care for their fries though.

  • Laura W.

In-N-Out is very good... I wouldn't go CRAZY over it like some people, but my burger was great for a fast food place. However, I don't like the special sauce, and I feel like my rating has to be based on their specialty. This one in Davis is so convenient to the highway, and I agree that the service is quick and friendly. 4 stars for the burger, but minus 1 star for the bland fries and suspicious burger sauce.

  • Jessica L.

I am choosing this In-N-Out to review as it is the one I have been to the most times. It is not receiving 5 stars bc the wait can be way too long. Side note: I like that they pay their staff very well - above and beyond most fast food places! I don't have to tell you that In-N-Out burgers rock! My order is: Cheeseburger combo "animal style" (w/grilled onions) and a chocolate shake (rather than coke). For some reason I find myself putting an obscene amount of ketchup on these burgers - but my god it just TASTES so damn good!!!!! Also, I personally LOVE their fries - I am fully aware many don't but I DO!!! Now, I have explained before in previous reviews about my stomach/IBS/lactose issues BUT I make a rare exception here too for a chocolate shake - perfectly thick and requiring high suction - me like. (stop laughing sickos)

I like it really simple and intuitive.( sounds like a GUI interface now..) I go to In and Out when I'm hungry, alone, and too lazy to cook a proper meal. I know I'm paying for rubbish, full of fat, fast food, but as a fast food diner, you shouldn't think and say in that way because you knew all that initially when you decided to have fast food. I like "In and Out" because you knew that even though you are getting rubbish fast food, you are eating the freshest and simplest fast food among all other competitors. Menu Spotlights: Most ordered; -Double Double. -CheeseBurger. -Hamburger. -French Fries. -****Animal Style Fries**** -****Animal Style Burgers**** -****4 x 4**** Hope that helps you decide what to eat for the night.

This was my first in-n-out burger, ever. Do you need my review of a burger joint after this many reviews? WELL... frankly.. you got it. Simple. Single best hamburger in the world. Not the best I have ever had, buy any means. Hamburger stands, home barbecues, beach grills... all beat it out. But it is the most consistent, exciting, delicious, and wonderful culture and history for (gulp) fast food ever. Great shakes, I love watching the guys chop potatoes. I love the huge safety pins. AND ... I love ordering my #1 LMKO. Always have. And the joy I get from sharing it with midwesterner's, east coasters, and intrepid foreign interlopers? Pure and total Joy.

It's In-n-Out, it has to be good. Plus it's the only one in the Davis area. Great to go late at night. Gotta love the animal style fries and neoplatian milkshakes.

Now if you've been to one In-N-Out youve been to them all as they are great with consistency and I believe even the layout of all of the restaurants are the same. The people at In-N-Out are always super friendly and competent...I dont think my order has ever been screwed up there. They have a secret menu of sorts where you an order all sorts of specials...check it out badmouth.net/in-n-outs-s…

Not much else you can say new about In-N-Out. This location is usually packed during the normal rush hours because of proximity to 80 and downtown. Always get extra salt packets for your fries because ketchup just aint gonna cut it!! This place satisfies your fast food craving and let's you feel a little better that you didn't go to Jack in the Box!!

  • D E.

I have enjoyed every In-N-out where I have eaten besides the Davis location. Multiple visits and all have been disappointing. I can't pin point just one thing. Hope In-N-Out can pull through and taste good like the other locations

  • Emilia S.

The best time to go to In-N-Out is at 1am on a Friday or Saturday when you can get your burger AND watch all the drunkies stumbling around. It's great. Their burgers rock but the fries are a short and squishy. Milkshakes are good too but I order those separately. It's fast, it's cheap, it's good....definately a fun place to grab food with your friends if you ignore that it's fast food and really bad for you.

Must be a standard stop on the way up to Tahoe because I ran into two different groups of friends here.

  • Ismael B.

Hands down best burgers in Davis. Don't let the "fast food" moniker fool you, these burgers are delicious. However this In-N-Out location is a little dirtier than others I have visited. The beverage sections is often sticky and filled with straw paper residue. Other than that the bathrooms are clean and the tables are pretty spotless. Now... The fries. The fries here are a love-hate thing. You either love them or hate them. I love them. However there has been instances where the fries are simply not done "correctly". Sometimes they are undercooked, sometimes overcooked. When you achieve something in between, you're in fry heaven.

Burgers and college hotties, yum!! Unfortunately I only roll through here during the winter snowboard season so they're all covered up. Parking lot is small and we ended up parking at the Shell station. Attendant had said something and I told him I was a customer. This was on Sunday and I was going to throw my gas receipt from Friday at him. I was able to learn something new about In N Out, they have packets of whole yellow chili peppers. UC Davis, Class of 2000 baby!!!

Despite the cult of In-N-Out, its just a burger. It's good, but it's just a burger. I was dragged here at the insistance of a hoard of devout In-N-Out followers, 'oh my god, its the best thing ever...you just have to try it' i liked it, but i'm not going to turn into an In-N-Out zombie for it. 5 for the food, 4 because of its cult

NEVER A PLACE TO SIT!!! Whoever designed In-n-Out needs to wake up because the place is so damn small. Serously, there's never a place to sit. I mean, you have to stand there and stalk other people so you can get their table. Other than that, the food is awesome. The fries are always fresh and the burgers are great. The staff is uber friendly, however they did mess up my order one time. Kinda disappointing, but no big deal. They'll do whatever you ask for though. I mean, if you want them to spin around and dance like a monkey, they'll do it! Ok, kidding, but they'll take your order any way you want it. In n Out is great. All hail In-n-Out!

    (4)
  • Dale H.

I'm an "ok" fan of In-N-Out. It's good burgers, and even better fries. I don't really like the limited menu options. It's not so much that I want more of a diverse menu, but some more options on burgers would be good to me. Still, I enjoy the burgers. My daughter loves their grilled cheese sammiches. My wife, not so much. She goes when we go, but doesn't go if she's out on her own. But then again, if we're talking shakes, she's there!

    (3)
  • Daryl L.

Don't get me wrong; In-n-Out is always great. It's a quality burger joint and has a great menu to live by. The Davis location is one of the better joints I've visited because the majority of it is operated by competent college students. But I've eaten so much In-n-Out that I've grown tired of it. If you're experiencing the same situation, drop by Davis Commons and try The Habit instead. But if not, completely disregard this review and stuff your face. Animal-style.

What In-N-Out is bad? This like it's siblings is a great example of fast food. It was quick, it was good and it has fountain drinks. The washrooms were clean and the staff was nice. Thanks!

I make regular stops to this popular burger joint and, while there are no shortage of reviews, here's what a few years of casual eating tell me. Food: The menu is sparse, or maybe better to say, free of distraction. I go for the hamburger with grilled onions (grilled onions are a special request and I highly recommend them). It comes served in paper, which is a nice touch and a good way to keep everything together and not all over your hands. The patties are small, but taste pretty quality. The double-double has almost always been a bit too unwieldy for this burger lover, but I can see the appeal. I'm a bit of a stickler for good produce, and while the lettuce is usually ok, the tomatoes are usually pretty lousy, to the point where I might forgo them completely if I wasn't too lazy to clarify it with the register. A lot of people are nuts about the fries, but I've never been super crazy about them: Too crunchy and not quite meaty enough. I like to order the "fries light" when I'm not in a hurry (takes longer, but yields softer fluffier fries). Also, there's usually not enough for me to share with others. After experimenting with different sauce combinations, I'd say stick with the default: Ketchup alone is too bland. The shakes are probably the least-tasty of about any fast food shake I've ever had. Avoid. Service: As good as it comes as far as burger service goes. Very pro. Ambiance: Bright, clean, loud, crowded with plastic, un-padded booths. Maybe get it to go if you're looking to relax. Bottom Line: In-N-Out's got great food and a good variety of "secret" tweaks you can make to your burger and fries to get them how you like them. Ultimately, though, it's a fast food burger, so no matter what you order, you likely can't go wrong. P.S. Parking is often a BEAR. Bike or walk instead, if you can.

The problem with Davis is that there are not very many late night eating options. Getting out of Silicon Valley is a pain. On the way to Tahoe, sometimes you hit Davis late and you're really hungry. Guess what? IN-N-OUT to the rescue.

In N Out burger is truly a west coast treasure. This location is always busy because it is efficient, affordable, and in a college town. The service is always good and so is the food. If you're looking for a old school burger and fries quickly this is the place to go. It's usually crowded though so be prepared to eat it in your car.

Wow, the memories of In N' Out at Davis. I lived less than a mile away from In N' Out during my tenure at UCD, so it became a frequent run for me. The cheeseburgers w/ grilled onions are always a tastey treat, and I actually prefer their fries over most fast food chains. Oh yeah, I've heard that In N' Out pays their employees well above the industry average. Helping out broke students for the win!

Every tme I go to In-N-Out I get a grilled cheese, well-done fries, and a small soda. In-N-Out consistantly has the best-tasting and healthiest french fries of any burger chain in California, never sugared and always prepared fresh in canola oil. If you don't know about the Secret Menu you're missing out. Some of the stuff on it is pretty weird, but some of it is great. My only complaint is that every In-N-Out I've ever been to is always crowded as hell. They need to open more locations! ======SECRET MENU ITEMS====== X by Y = X meat patties and Y slices of cheese (for example, a 3 by 3 or a 2 by 4) Triple Meat = Three meat patties without cheese. Animal Style = A mustard cooked beef patty served on a bun with pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, extra spread and grilled onions. Animal Style Fries = Fries with cheese, spread, and grilled onions. Double Meat = Two meat patties without cheese. Extra Everything = Adds extra spread, tomato, lettuce, and onions (regular or grilled). Flying Dutchman = Two meat patties, two slices of melted cheese and nothing else. Well-Done Fries = Fries that are cooked longer to be extra crisp. Fries with cheese= Fries with two slices of melted cheese placed on top. Grilled Cheese = Two slices of melted cheese, tomato, lettuce and spread on a bun, with no meat. There is also a Grilled Cheese Animal Style (grilled onions are added). Neopolitan Shake = All three shake flavors (strawberry, vanilla and chocolate) combined in one shake. Protein Style = Instead of a bun, the burger is wrapped in lettuce. Veggie Burger = A burger without the meat and cheese.

Honestly, In-N-Out is a good restaurant in general. The Davis location is one that makes it great. This location has never let me down. Food has always been of high quality, service is quick and friendly. The only downside is that it can get busy, but the wait is never too long, and I have always been able to find a place to sit before my food arrives. Keep it up In-N-Out.

During my time at UC Davis, I really missed Southern California and Southern Californians. Everyone seemed to be from little towns in NoCal that I never heard of. While there may be some charming restaurants in Davis, I wasn't able to afford any of them. The exisiting "lowbrow" fare was crap. But then, In-N-Out burger opened in Davis. A taste of home, for sure, but it was more than that. It was like the SoCal embassy. In-N-Out gets five stars no matter where, but I'd give this one a six if I could, for sentimental reasons.

for the fast food category - this place gets my endorsement. Markets itself as fresh quality fast food... kids will eat it.. I like it... fits the bill when we're on the road. The only thing I don't like about it is the lines - not that quick.

This is my favorite In N Out, so far. It has become my pet project to try different In N Out Burger restaurants all over northern CA as my job has me driving EVERYWHERE. BUT this is one is my fave (I get excited when I know I'm working in Sacramento and get to stop by on my way home). Its location is key: it's nestled off to the right of the Richards exit when you're exiting from HWY 80 west - so it's sort of hard to notice and therefore RARLEY busy and thus a LONG wait is not a problem like it can be at other In N Out Burgers. They are staffed with happy-seeming college kids who OFFER me two packets of spread when I ask for it for my fries. I'm not really fond of their grilled onions and prefer only spread to "animal style". At any rate, the food is as good as any other In N Out but there's never a line, the staff is friendly and I can get off the freeway, get my food (and maybe some gas), and get back on my way home in a jiffy.

today's update: i ordered my regular number 2 no onions, dr pepper, with animal style fries,. came home, took a bite and the beef was still red! my buns were burnt(hhah) and no fork. i know bad days happen...but please don't let it happen again! 05/30/08 3.5 for food and service. I have those nights every month when I'm just craving for something quick, cheap, and artery clogging food for me to choose from. In-N-Out is the place to go. It's less than 5 minutes of driving, the drive thru customer service has always been efficient(animal style friessss! P.S i guess i like my fries stale), and it has always left me feeling fatter and happier.

Great place to grab a midnight meal, as there aren't many places open late in Davis. Small menu, tasty fries, excellent burgers. And there's always a line both inside and in the drive-thru. Would've been even better if this restaurant were built on the downtown side, though.

The very best cheeseburger, fries and chocolate milkshake in this world! We don't have In-N-Out Burger in Florida, so after arriving at Sacramento Airport, this is usually my first stop.

I have such fond memories of my late-night runs to In-N-Out...especially since it was one of the only places open relatively late in Davis. Anyways, cheeseburgers are the best (animal style) and I like ordering my fries lightly well-done--they have the perfect amount of crispyness to them. I wish the burger patties were bigger, but they hit the spot as is.
