I'm not sure why people gave this a high-rated pizza joint. I was expecting something out of the ordinary. Unfortunately, food was disappointing. I would have to compare this to Round Table. The service was fine and the wait time wasn't that bad which gave it two stars. Downside, the pizza itself was plain to me. My friends and I had ordered their combination and pepperoni. Both of which was unsatisfying with lack of flavors in their sauce. The crust and dough-like bread tasted hard like a rock. For the price of their pizzas, I'd rather order from Round Table.

JT McHart's is the perfect pizza. I know, I know....that's a pretty radical statement. But in my opinion, it is just wonderful. The crust is neither thick nor thin....it falls into the thicker side of hand tossed, which is perfect for the amazeballs ingredients. I had sausage and mushroom on my side. The sausage was really well-cooked and the mushrooms were, well...fungal? (in a good way), My only complaint was that the seating on the inside of the restaurant was pretty sparse, so I think next time we are going to order take-out. Otherwise, a fantastic pizza experience!

I have to say upfront that I used to work at McHart's for over 5 years and this place is a second home to me. That being said, this is to this day my FAVORITE place to eat pizza ever. Whenever I crave some good hearty pizza with fresh toppings, I always want to go back. Not only are all the combos amazing, but the environment is very relaxed and laid back. Out of all of my favorite pizzas, I have to say that the Chicken Delight is probably on top of the list. I do have a couple of other combos that I love like sausage, mushroom and olives with garlic, or pepperoni, pineapple, and onion with pesto sauce. If you're in the area, give this place a shot. The french/sourdough crust is awesome and the ranch dressing is my favorite. Robert is a total sweetheart and I love him to death. I love McHart's Pizza!

Pizza - Good - Not amazing Ambiance - Fair - a little small in there, not a lot of seating Cleanliness - decently clean Service - The owner was rude. The staff seemed ok, but not super friendly. He seems nice while ringing up your food but just listening to him talk to patrons and the help when he doesn't have your cash almost in hand was just so unfriendly. Rude = I'm not going back even if the pizza was really great. It made us uncomfortable to see him talk to customers with his slighted attitude after they were just trying to get a box and another customer just asking about a refill.

Pizza was delicious! Had a ton of toppings piled on and it was perfectly baked crust. Small little cozy feeling. The man at the counter was very friendly and made the experience even better.

I have been going to McHart's Pizza for a loooong time. The owner is a wonderfully kind man who loves to see his customers happy. I remember being young and going to McHart's, then browsing the card store next door when Pokemon was a big deal. Family night always needs a good pizza and McHart's will NOT disappoint.

2.5 stars, rounded up because the ingredients are still good. It's been a year, and the pizza I got this time was too soggy on the bottom. Not cool.

No space for 6 stars else would have given that. Mr. McHart is so sweet and caring. After ordering my pizza for the 2 of us, i thought of ordering garlic bread/bread sticks which was not on the menu. He says he would make it for me, but also suggested the pizza should be enough and surely it was enough. Have never ever seen so many toppings on a pizza. He also offered us free salad while waiting for the pizza. A great find and will definitely go there again. I had a coupon and for the first time in my life i did not feel like using one .

Friendly people. The pizza is very expensive compared to the chains, but I don't mind paying a premium to support a local business. However, I do mind getting a soggy, uneatable pizza, which is what I got when I ordered a Baja Express pizza. I couldn't believe it when I opened the box; not only was the pizza a soggy mess, it looked like someone just dumped a house salad and microwaved beans on a pizza crust. I've had mexican-themed pizzas before, and when done well they can be delicious.

Garlic Cheesy Bread Pizza FTW! I always come here to order this and it is delicious as a snack there or on the go!

I LOVE THIS PLACE. JT takes pride in his pizzas, and I enjoy watching him put the final touches on a pie before it's popped into the oven. My husband and I order take-out at least once a week (yes, we're addicted). I always order a "create your own" thin crust pizza, with cheese, onions, zucchini and mushrooms, and my husband always opts for the BBQ Chicken pizza. They are scrumptious - the toppings always super fresh, and the dough is flaky with just the right amount of salt. And my favorite part, is when I pick up the pizza, JT checks the box to make sure it's cooked to his satisfaction and says, "That looks delicious!" :)

Best ma and pop pizza place around!! I love their thick pizza and fresh toppings. I mostly stop in for their pizza slices which they serve Monday-Friday from 11am-2pm. Slightly pricey but oh so worth it :-)

Over the weekend I had the best pizza I ever had. Perfectly cooked & tons of toppings. I had their pizza a few times this year & they were all really good. I will be going here more often from now on.

This is one of the best pizzas I ever tried in US, it is a gem in the Cupertino area. I went there for lunch and tried their chicken delight, it was so tasty, a nice layer of chesse on top, with generous amount of topping. The service was also very friendly and professional. It probably does not have the nicest ambiance for a restaurant, but the quality of pizza was superb.

I've seen this place for numerous years but never had the urge to go in as it seemed like a non-descript pizza parlor. After seeing all the favorable reviews on Yelp, I decided to give this place a try! The half McHart Special and half Hawaiian was really good. Plenty of fresh toppings. The crust was crunchy on the bottom and not oily at all! Their salad bar was okay...decent by pizza parlor standards as their items were all fresh. Interior decor was clean and pretty good. Service was friendly as well! :)

This pizza is amazing and I love the service and the environment. Always consistently good with friendly service. The bacon pizza is my favorite, but we also love the McHart's special with jalapenos.

My parents insisted I try this pizza since I was craving some. We called in and came by to pick up our pizza. The staff here is very friendly. And I believe the owner or possibly a manager was out at the front. My mom wanted pineapple on her pizza 'cause she just read the menu and it said you can add it upon request. But since the pizza was already in the oven it kind of made it difficult to add the pineapples at that point. But the nice owner said that we could take some in a little container. How nice of him. I would've given it 3 stars but the great service bumped it up to 4. We ordered the JT Supreme, but by the time we got home it was really moist and the crust got a bit soggy. I could tell prior to putting it in the box the crust was REALLY crispy because it still maintained some of its crispiness but not as much. And the inside of the crust was nice and soft. My parents LOVE the fact that they pile on a TON of toppings. Me? Not so much. I had bites that just tasted like mushrooms and olives despite the fact that there was pepperoni and ham underneath. It was just too much. However the ingredients are really fresh which is a great plus! Maybe I'll come by again next time I'm in town.

Best pizza in Cupertino. I like the history of this place. Ask them about the history of the calzone. Ask about the movie star involved in the vignette

Came here once with a buncha bros and ordered a buncha pizzas (actually, this one guy did who said he ate there a lot). Large portions, good amount of toppings, and okay price. I would have given it four stars, but there was this father in the back swearing really loudly at his kid for a whole hour. I know it's not the restaurant's fault, but that ruined the atmosphere :(

It's great to see this family run pizzeria still in operation. The food quality is great and the service is great! There's also a delicious yogurt store next to it for dessert (if you have room in your tummy)!

Robert is the sweetest guy in the world and always working behind the counter. Great customer service, ingredients are fresh and ranch is made in house. Can't get enough of it for our pizza. Olives are even hand-chopped for their pizzas. Careful here, these pieces of pizza are super dense, you will only be able to eat 2-3 slices even if you were starving :)

  • Nico H.

Wonderful delicious place!! Great customer service, pizza is amazing, definitely worth the extra money when comparing to other pizza places. Our first time there, they were super friendly and helpful, and even offered to do a 1/2 and 1/2 small pizza since we couldn't decide on what to get! Now it's our favorite pizza place around and no where else seems to compare. Highly recommended :-)

Came in here with some friends, saw Yelp reviews that it's awesome. I think the owner was serving us? An older gentleman. We came in at 8, greeted with "sit wherever you like, I hope you didn't come for salad, I'm closing the salad bar down now..." ok. I did want salad. That was awkward. After that we were pretty much rushed to order, eat and leave. Ordered a couple of pizzas and garlic bread (they made some even though it wasn't on menu, which was cool). They were both pretty good. Food was good, service... meh... most places will let you stick around a little after closing while they close things down, clean the place- not this place. 8:58- "ok I need to close down now and clean your table"- basically, get out of here... our server was not exactly Mr. Sunshine lol 3 stars just bc the food was pretty good. If you like good pizza with grouchy service, eat here.

Love this place! Took my grandmother there for her first visit tonight! The most important characteristic of any restaurant is a good product! McHarts has a great pizza... I am from out of state and found them on Yelp about a year ago and now it's on my destinations to go whenever I'm back in town. Love to take Grandma to dinner when I'm in town (she is turning 94 soon) and picked McHarts since we were hungry and pizza sounded good. With a huge smile she said 'my this is great, the best pizza I have ever had!' She loves that they don't skimp on the toppings. I have to agree! Great flavor and very filling. We also love great service and being treated well. Robert and Christine were overly accommodating and work as a great team - love that. What a warm and inviting place. Wish we had this closer to my home! Does pizza travel well on a plane?

When I first walked it on Saturday around 7:30 this place was empty. I thought... UH OH... maybe this place wasn't as good as I thought, but we still sat down and ordered. We ordered a small Baja Express and medium Chicken Garlic Deluxe for three people. It was a bit overkill to have that much for three people, but we thought first time here, so why not?!? I have no complaints for the pizza. It was perfectly cooked, loaded with toppings and just so yummy. You really get you money's worth here! I definitely will be going back when I crave some thick crust pizza. Only downside is they don't offer any kind of sides... no wings or breadsticks, but wasn't too big of a deal, just means there is more space for pizza!

There are plenty of reasons to love JT McHart's. They have world class pizza made with quality ingredients. Best of all, the pizza crust never gets soggy because of the special trays they use to serve the pizza. The crust is doughy (which I happen to like) and far from greasy (huge plus!). You can tell the people that run this place take pride in their business. They go out of their way to make their customers feel welcome. You leave happy and stuffed. What more can you ask for?

We decided to come J T McHart's pizza, because we were hungry and craving some pizza. We were actually in this plaza getting some Beard Papa and just decided to yelp this place. When I first came here I was thinking of those traditional pizza parlor but didn't expected to be a family owned business ( which I LOVE). I believe the older gentlemen is the owner which was super nice! We decided to try the lunch special for two and go the all meat pizza. the salad bar was pretty cool it was very clean and organized. Not much choices but it was def, very good. The pizza was delicious and very enjoyable, It really tasted like homemade and not those franchise pizza food. The waitress we had was also very friendly and made sure our drinks was always topped off! overall I was very happy with this place and def be back when I come out this area again. Everyone was super friendly and the food was delicious nothing more that you can ask!

Awesome pizzas and very friendly service. They make an exceptional regular crust pizza with toppings generously piled high. I've only eaten in so I'm not sure what their take-out pizza is like, but when you eat in, they bring out the pizza in a special cobbled pan that vents the pizza so the entire bottom of the crust stays nice and crispy. A small size is perfect for two with no leftovers. They do half-half of anything too.

This place is always PACKED! That's how you know the pizza's oh-so-goooooood! Great toppin's, everything tastes real fresh, and the atmosphere is super-friendly, full of nice families with kids, laughing people, and good mood. Staff is really friendly too, so the service is great. Not too expensive, great location, very good indeed.

Great mom and pop atmosphere, excellent service, good variety in pizza and great for big groups. I had the barbecue chicken pizza and it was delicious. Great combination and extremely filling. The veggie pizza was very good too. Service was quick, they were accommodating although it is not a full service restaurant (order at the counter). Great casual place for pizza that won't make you yawn. I would recommend this to my friends and pizza lovers.

Haven't been here for years but we had a great experience this past weekend. My husband and I and a couple friends came by for dinner before our movie. We were trying to decide what toppings to get. I'm preggo so I'm a bit constricted on what kinds of meat I can have. The owner was taking our order and told us not to worry, my hubs and the other non-preggos should get whatever they want on their large pizza and he would make me my own small pizza with whatever I wanted and throw it in for free. That was so sweet and unexpected, I was really impressed! The pizzas themselves were excellent, I'd say the best I've had in a long time. I like that it's thicker and doughier than normal, but not quite deep dish and definitely not greasy at all. All the ingredients were super fresh and delish, and cooked just enough, not overcooked and soggy. The owner told us we'd definitely have leftovers, and we thought so too at first, but we ended up wiping out both pizzas (a large and a small) between the four of us. He was impressed (or disturbed?) and we were happy and full. :) Will definitely be back more often now!

Impressed....Every pizza place has a style and some are really really good for the type of pizza they make. Some specialize in a thin crust, thick crust, soft crust, hard crust, tasty sauce favors..etc. For this place, I loved it. These guys have just an overall good pizza. Good crust, fresh ingredients, top cheese. I know this is a quality pie when I can warm it up the next day or two and there is no change in presentation or taste from when I first ate it. This is a definitely in the top 7 pizza places in the Bay Area. Nice, clean place, friendly staff, low key and family friendly.

I love the Baja Express with jalapenos. I drive the 25 mile round trip for this pizza. Try it. BTW, the rest of the pizzas are great as well. Good ingredients.

  • Jason C.

The ingredients are fresh. The pizza is very breadey. But most of all, this owner, Robert Booth, fired the oven back up to make me a pizza a few days ago after the store had already closed at 9 p.m. Sir, I salute you for your dedication to customer service!

  • Wendy W.

Came here with friends.. just to hang out and all... I don't think I've ever eaten here before.. but I think the restaurant looks bigger from the outside than it really is... I was surprised to see how small it was when I walked inside.... Other than that... I thought the pizzas were nice. We had a Large McHarts Special.. and one of the chicken ones... Both were nice. I'm not a big fan of pizza (I typically go for the thin crust ones).. but these were nice. The crust was crispy.. the way I like it.. and the toppings were good! If I ever crave pizza, this will probably one of the places I will go to!

Zachary's in Berkeley and McHart's are my two favorite pizza places. McHart's is a good, solid thick crust pizza joint with straightforward toppings. The Gardener is delicious and so is the McHart's Special. The staff there have always been kind, friendly, and helpful. In the summer, my fiance at the time phone-ordered a pizza from McHart's and let them know that I would be going to pick up the order. When I arrived there, the guy working congratulated me on our upcoming wedding, which I thought was very thoughtful. It's that kind of personal touch that makes me want to go back. Here's a little tip: If you go to their website, you can print money-saving coupons.

Tons of toppings, nice medium thick crispy crust, extra points for the friendly owner as opposed to the usual plethora of disillusioned workers at some other pizza places. Menu follows the traditional mix of pizza toppings, but does it well. For example, if you like meat, this place has massive salty sausage pieces. If you like veggies, well those get piled high as well. The salad bar was a little lacking, the lettuce was kind of wilted and stale, but who goes to a pizza joint for salad? And really like someone said below, this complex has gotten a lot better in recent years with dessert and shopping options nearby. Happy to finally find a good pizza place in Cupertino.

Good pizza and friendly service. Only if they sold Pizza-by-the-Slice for dinner (and not just for lunch), I would come more often.

Do not judge this restaurant only from their appearance() I have tried several pizza restaurants in this area and currently this one is the best I believe. Their ingredients are all fresh, chunk and tasty but not greasy. Hand made dough is great as well.

My family has eaten here since I was a baby. Literally. Now that I'm older, I appreciate the pizza a lot more. We've always gotten the Big Hart with extra mushroooms and I love it. The ingredients are top quality and the pizza is never very oily. You can tell just how fresh everything is. I love the pizza so much that I once drove down all the way from Davis with my girlfriend to eat here. It was worth the trip too. The staff here is always very nice and remember the extra mushrooms every time! ==== EDIT 6/1/08: Now that I come here with friends more often than I eat it with my parents, I've realized a few things: [1] a small is good for 2 ppl for lunch (you'll have some leftovers) [2] a medium is good for 2 ppl for dinner (you might have some leftovers) [3] the garlic chicken is okay but the Big Hart still owns [4] I never ever noticed the price. I assume that's a testament to how good the pizza is. ==== Rubric: 5 = Mindblowing 4 = Excellent 3 = I see the charm 2 = Disappointing 1 = Never again

I don't know if it's the family vibe or what, but I like this place a lot. Everyone who works there is nice and the same older man is at the cash register on most nights. I am tempted to call him JT, but I don't know if that's his name. I have eaten at the restaurant and taken pizza to go and, either way, the pizza is delicious. Although the price is a little more expensive than other pizza joints, this is not your usual pizza joint. The ingredients they use are fresh and they layer them on thick. Everytime we get pizza to go, we are astounded by how heavy the pizza box is! I would highly recommend the JT Supreme (our go-to order). It is, indeed, supreme.

five stars for the hottie waitress with the pink hair!! :D HOLLA HOLLA HOLLA oh, and the pizza ain't bad either. ;] if you're vegetarian, you're in for a TREAT folks! all of their veggie pieces are HUGE and fresh!! especially the artichoke hearts, they are TO DIE. OVER N OUT. GO HERE FOR PIZZA NAO.

The people that run the place are super nice and friendly. While I do wish they delivered, I live close enough that I don't mind picking it up. All of their ingredients are really quite good. Lots of veggies and it all tastes fresh and good. I can't identify anything really wrong with it... but it always feels like there's something missing. Maybe because the pizza is so squeaky-clean? Really, there's no grease to be found. Maybe, deep down, underneath my preferring healthy food I just want greasy pizza. Anyway, this place makes a solid and good pizza that is right in between Manhattan thin and Chicago thick. Just straight up standard American pizza, done right.

I've lived in Cupertino my entire life and I've always walked by this place but I had never been there until recently. And now, I make it a point to go every couple of weeks or maybe once a month. I think I caved and went twice in a week once. I can't go on about how delicious their pizza is. There's practically NO grease, the bread is so soft and tasty, the topings are all very very FRESH. I almost always get the "Cupertino's Choice", which is their all-meat pizza. Even THAT has no drippy/runny grease on it. It's salami, pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham and linguisa! YUM!!! My drink almost never runs dry, and if it does, not for long. These guys are on top of it! That's not all - their salad bar is AMAZING. I usually hesitate to order from the salad bar at most pizza joints, but you can obviously tell they have all fresh ingredients. EVERYTHING CRUNCHES. And, man, I can't get enough of their DEVILED POTATO SALAD. I order a large salad and a large pizza; eat the salad (I share it with my BFF) with 2 or 3 slices of pizza and take home what's leftover (and I'm REALLY stuffed). Even reheated, this pizza outs other places. The owner is super friendly and the servers are so helpful. The environment is very homey. It's dim, very nice and quiet. They've got booths and they serve the pizza to you at your seat. The restroom is ALWAYS clean and well stocked. The pizzas run about 13 for a small 20 for a medium and about 25 for a large; depending on what you get. I usually spend a total of about $36-38 including tip (lrg pizza+lrg salad). I tell ya, it's worth it! You'll never have great pizza and service like this for $36 bucks! ... And be sure to check out their website mchartspizza.com for coupons!

Not a big deal. Then again, I didn't grow up in Cupertino and it seems that everybody who grew up in the area loves the place. My guess... the pizza itself deserves 3-stars but the nostalgia adds a star or two for the locals. Seeing that I have no such nostalgia for the place, it gets 3 from me.

Love it love it love it love it. I've been coming here since before High School. By FAR the best pizza I've ever had! Robert and his son Chris are the greatest, can't leave out Tristan, and the girls are great too.

We've eaten at McHart's for a few years now. I prefer thin crust and my husband likes thick crust, but I still like McHart's with their thick crust pizza. If they made thin crust, I'd give 5 stars! The first time I ate here, I was pleasantly surprised by the way they make the pizza/toppings. They pile on the toppings, it seems. We ordered one of the special pizzas and there were tons of mushrooms, tomatoes, olives, peppers all layered at the top of the pizza. I haven't seen anything like that at any other pizza places. The service is friendly. The first time we were there, the owner stopped by our table to see how the food was. We've usually gone on Friday nights after work and didn't really have to wait for a table. Overall, filling pizza with fresh ingredients - we've never been disappointed.

This is my all-time favorite pizza place. no other pizza competes. not to sound rude or anything, i just can't enjoy other pizza as much as this. it's like, if i eat pizza....which is seldom, i want it to be awesome! And McHart's is awesome! The dough, for one thing, is sourdough and the crust is super thick, not-greasy (round table is a complete nightmare in this department), and the toppings are loaded on there. It's great. You definitely get what you pay for....and it is super-quality and they use the freshest ingredients. This is NO chain pizza parlor; it's a special family run business. Whenever I think of McHart's my mouth starts to water. It is the best pizza! It does not disappoint!

Alright. Went here to grab a slice of pizza for lunch. The slice was on the small size and they charged me $3.50! I could go to Little Caesars and get a whole pizza for $1.50 more. Sheesh. My small slice wasn't satisfying because it was lukewarm and small. Can't say I'd go back and pay a massive fee for a pie?

This is probably the best pizza I've had! The place is located in Cupertino and I live close to downtown San Jose. When i want pizza, i make the trip. Its worth it! Small indoor seating, so make sure you get there early.

Yippee...a new place to go to pizza. (new to me anyway) It's been a while since we ate at a mom and pop pizza place. I felt a bit out of place since everyone else in the store was probably in high school. (it wasn't overrun by hs students though) The pizza we had was great. We got a large with pepperoni, mushrooms and olives. I liked that the mushrooms were sliced super thin. The sauce has just a hint of spiciness, and I'm intrigued by the "spicy sauce" that they talk about on the back of their menu. Can't wait to go back and eat more! Don't forget to check out their website before you go. They have printable coupons that can save you a couple bucks.

This is hands down the best pizza in the world. Not greasy/oily, perfect toppings, and just right amount of crust. I always get their Hawaiian because it is ooo, so good, but friends have different favorites from this spot. All of them are fantastic!

Excellent sums it up. Great service, excellent quality of ingredients, great crust, excellent sauce, great good! We tried their Garden Veggie (modified) Pizza, and loved every bite of it. Crust stayed crunchy through the end of the meal. One of the best (And likely to be the best in my opinion, once I try other options)

mcharts is located in what i call "the new cupertino square" between yogurtland and beard papas... this plaza has become totally random now with its schizophrenic smattering of new stores (wingstop next to verde next to charles schwab?? new things west on top of potsticker king?? HUH?!!) but MCHARTS WAS HERE FIRST. and truly, they withstand the test of time because their pizza is goooood... i usually prefer new york style super-thin crust pizzas, and mcharts crust is a little thicker than im used to, but they won me over with their JT supreme! they are SO generous with their toppings, i felt like i needed a fork and knife to eat my pizza - which is a good thing. plus, service was fast and friendly, the place was clean and well-lit, and the lunch specials were a pretty good deal.

So after our little snafu at Mountain Mike's we ordered a pizza from JT's. Good pizza, not oily, great customer service but pricey. $20 buckaroos for a large pizza for 1 topping. Not cool....

I stopped in on a whim on a Friday evening, and I'm incredibly glad I did. The gentleman who took my order was very sweet: he answered all my questions, took my somewhat oddball order perfectly, and even brought me a free drink while I waited for them to make my pizza. He also opened the box for me to make sure the pizza was exactly how I wanted it before I left. The pizza itself is absolutely delicious - the crust is thick yet crispy, the meats are spicy and not too greasy, and the cheese is rich and also not greasy. It has the same kind of delicious quality as some of the high-end pizza restaurants I've been to in Chicago, for significantly less money. I will definitely come back here whenever I am hungry for pizza.

I've worked in Cupertino for seven years or so and never knew about this place until yesterday. It's tucked away in a corner of a strip mall, overshadowed by Long's Drugs, Elephant Bar, Erik's Deli, and other chain establishments. Apparently this place has been around for the longest time, and it's still a small, family-run business. I've been told that when the owner wants to go on vacation, he just shuts the place down, because he doesn't trust others with running the shop. I also appreciate how the menu is kept short and simple: salad bar, pizzas, calzone, and drinks.. The pizza was good, although not the New York style I prefer. The crust was excellent, crisp but not crunchy, thick but not doughy. The toppings were piled high. On the veggie pizza we ordered, I felt that the toppings were undercooked, but the combo pizza tasted fine.

The pizza toppings are fresh and the crust is nice and crispy. We've been coming here for about 5 years now, very consistant and friendly staff.

Unfortunately, due to a picky 6 year old, I was only able to order the peperoni pizza. However, it was still awesome! Super thick crust and nice and cheesy without the greasiness. We got use of the salad bar as well with our dinner for four. Salad bar is really small as are the bowls you get, so I wouldn't order it next time. It was also super hot when we were there. The place is pretty small and the seating is really close together. However, when we asked for the AC to be turned on, they gladly complied. Will go back again.

OMGOMGOMG, I love McHart's pizza, still my favorite pizza place in town. They throw a nice crust, the best crust I've ever found (it's not thin cracker-like, nor is it overly-thick and bready, it's about 1/3" thick and crispy on the outside and a tiny bit chewy on the inside.) Their pesto sauce is probably the best I've had, their ranch sauce is decadent and wonderful, their combos are always tasty. Nice staff, reasonable prices. I hope their landlord doesn't jack their rent and close them down, and I hope parking remains reasonable as the shopping center and Cupertino Square get busy. Either that, or I hope McHart's moves to Santa Clara, land of the crappy pizza joints. Tip: for lunch on weekdays, order your pizza. A friend went recently and had the by-the-slice and he was disappointed. When we returned and ordered a pizza to share, he was much happier. I've never ate their pre-made slices.

I just realized that I have been going there for the last 24 years, and they are still awesome. And I ate there again on my last trip to NorCal. I forsake all other pizza for them.

Great quality, stomach filling pizza. The toppings are plentiful and high on the quality. If you have a lot of guests that argue that Round Table is better, Pizza Hut is better or some other pizzaria is better... settle their taste buds with something they can all agree on as a great pizza joint, JT McHart's. They also have a tasty calzone and a nice salad bar.

Once in awhile I eat thick crust, and this is a great place to get some. My favorite is the veggie pizza! It's really really fresh stuff. This place gets pretty busy around lunch & dinner time. Just call ahead for pick up. I don't know if they still have it, but I remember eating the pizza buffet. Hot wings are grubbin too. I just need a Snapple and I'm good to go! PS I believe the owner and his son run it. Great customer service!

I love this pizza place. How can I not when the owner Robert remembers me after over six months! "You've been here before, haven't you, and I remember you ordered the same thing last time." Wow! He even offered me a free Coke while I was waiting (which was nice because I forgot to show them my pizza coupon). The customer service is superb. The pizza I ordered was a large McHart's Special with pesto. The pesto gets a little soaked into the bread and cheese but the ingredients are so fresh and generous. They even gave me the red sauce on the side. If you prefer, you can even split the sauces on each half of the pizza. Next time I'm trying the crispy thin crust mentioned here on Yelp. Thanks JT McHart's and Robert for adding a little shine to my Friday night!

This pizza is very good. Although it can run you bit for your money, I think it definitely does you a service to your taste buds. I am always surprised at how empty the place is, but maybe I just don't go at peak times. I do notice a lot of people do take-out while I am eating in there. The staff is pleasant and its an overall great experience whenever I'm here.

The good news is that they have an assortment of games to play while you wait for your pizza. The bad news is the pizza just isn't very good. I felt bad lying to the manager when he came by to ask how the pizza was, but I didn't have the heart to tell him it blew. And it blew big donkey chunks. And on top of that, we ordered red bell peppers but got green. The outrage!

My favorite is JT Supreme with pineapples. Thick and crunchy crust with generous toppings. The quality stays the same for all these years! Nice and friendly atmosphere, and the owner serves the pizza himself.

went here after to celebrate my last lab! ive heard tons of good reviews about this place...and they were right. its probably the BEST pizza ive ever had. I cant belive ive lived right around the corner for the last couple of years and have only now just experienced this great pizza. crispy and chewy sourdough classic crust, loaded with TONS of fresh toppings and meats. great customer service, friendly and family owned. JT Mchart, you are now officially a contact on my phone.

I realize how someone could really love the pizza here, but it's just not for me. I did like that they sell pizza by the slice. That always makes for a quick and easy lunch and it's not "awful" I'm not a fan of a thick crust pizza... one slice will do ya here for sure.

  • Joshua G.

There's something special about this place. The owner is very friendly. We chatted a number of times. The pizza is excellent. There aren't any gimmicks. They use high quality ingredients and don't skimp on the toppings. The result is excellent pizza. We used to live in Cupertino and we'd walk here for pizza from time to time and always had a great experience.

I grew up on J T McHarts pizza. I had had a lot of birthday parties here-- in particular my Power Ranger themed birthday party cake rings a bell... I took my first boyfriend here in High School.. and it was one of the few dinners my parents and I would agree on to eat. I loved eating at the restaurant because there would be some "cool" teenager or twenty something flipping and twirling the pizza dough behind the counter. I loved their high chairs and used to wait with my dad for our to go order and trying to imitate the pizza throwers. This the place where I fell in love with bleu cheese salad dressing at their salad bar, and learned what a beet was (now that I am older don't get down with the heavy dressings these days). Their combination is my favorite.. being a little Vicky T I used to pull off the green bell peppers and access onion and go to town... I happened to feel like kicking it old school and went to my old stomping ground while dropping off my lil bro at a friend's house. Grabbed some to go... yep.. still the sh#$. I love Pleasure Pizza and Pizza My Heart here in Santa Cruz... but it doesn't taste the same... The fact this place is still around despite all the changes at that shopping plaza (and there have been hella) speaks to their fan base and delish product.

This is my favorite pizza place! Best pizza I've ever had and the best in Cupertino. My family has been coming here for years and the service is always great and the manager is really nice. The pizza is delicious--yummy crust, piled high with fresh toppings. The BBQ Chicken pizza is my all-time favorite! I really have nothing negative to say about this place, except I always eat too much! That's all my fault though.

  • Angie L.

I LOVEEE THIS PLACEEE. I use to come here quite often back when I was in highschool. The price is very reasonable and the quality of the pizza is yummy. It is not like east coast thin crust pizza but instead is yummy, full, and thick, esp. the crust. come here monday-friday 2-5 and the pizza is served by the slice. The slice is HUGEEEEE. A slice of pizza and arizona ice tea is just $5.00. awesome lunch deal!

  • Steve S.

One of the O.Gs of this little Cupertino plaza. Through good times and the bad, this pizza spot has stood its ground. I don't really like BBQ pizza, but their BBQ chicken was good. Sauce wasn't too thick or strong and and the chicken was at an appropriate amount. Their garlic chicken pizza is also tasty and the white cream sauce is great. Could easily cut the pizza crust with a fork, showing how light and fluffy it is. Oh, go on their website to print coupons.

I'm really more of a thin crusted pizza fan. As Amici's is hit and miss and almost $40 for the toppings I like on their large pizza, I thought I'd try to find an alternative. JT McHart's is the opposite of what I usually like in a pizza. However their thick sourdough crust is tasty and goes well with their tangy sauce and meat toppings. I've been several times for a $3.50 huge slice at lunch and ordered a large pizza for the family a couple of times for around $20-25. Toppings are plentiful and unlike Amici's the quality has been consistent.

I can't think of a better way to spend our last few dinners out before we have a baby than going to a place like JT McHart's. The pizza is outstanding (less is more on the toppings, just to caution you) -- the crust is so perfect that anything more than a few toppings detracts from it. We shared a pizza and I hit the salad bar twice. Love this place. It's seriously my favorite place to eat in the area.

I should've listened to another reviewer's advice - LESS IS MORE! Made the mistake of adding extra mushrooms and extra olives to the JT Supreme and it was a mess (minus those tasty morsels of Italian sausages). On the other hand, the Chicken Delight was pretty good as is. Thick but crispy crust. Salad bar was meh as most pizza joints with salad bars are. Was still pretty pricey after using the online coupons.

I've actually been here in my youth... about 10 or so years ago. We would come here after baseball games and eat. Totally forgot about this place until I searched for pizza in Cupertino. I really like this place. They give decent portions. Their large with 10 slices was actually a good fill for the 5 of us. Forgot what we ordered, but it was a chicken ranch and a jt's something... favorite or something. Both were good. Lots of ingredients that are topped high on a very thick crust that turned out to be fluffy yet crispy. The only gripe that I hve is that it could have a little more flavor. I feel as if it was a little bland, regardless of all the ingredients. Maybe some kick or some spice. Overall it was still a great pizza.

Best pizza I've had in the south bay! If you want serious, tasty pizza, this is the place to go. They go all out with the crust and the toppings, this is not a light weight pizza. I love the chicken delight, chicken and ranch and onions and mushrooms, but everything is great. Their sauces are also great, have flavor. The owner and staff are always extremely nice. I usually order in advance and pick up, but always spend a few minutes chatting. Update: Also, the special calzone is pretty good, lots of meat.

Awesome pizza!! Easy to miss place (I never even knew it was here before I found it on Yelp), but it's worth the search. I rarely have mushrooms on pizza, but their ingredients are so fresh and tasty that I totally don't mind. Their pizza's so good, I'll even go for their vegetarian delight pizza! The owner's also very nice - he's always in there, and after ONLY 2 VISITS, he recognized me! Forget Dominos and all the crappy chain places - McHart's is the way to go.

This is great family pizza restaurant. It's probably the closest pizza place to my house and my wife and I visit it often. If you're a NY style pizza lover, this is probably not the pizza for you. The crust is thick, the sauce zesty, and the toppings are fresh.

Unique sourdough crust pizza. I love pizza and this pizza is very tasty! Fresh ingredients, lots of toppings and very filling. This place is not too good for large groups. I would say 6 to 8 people max! The owner works the counter and even makes the pizza. Hard working guy! This makes me come back even though he can get a bit grouchy, but I can oversee that while he works his butt off! I fully recommend this place!

I typically go to round table's for my pizza or go to my favorite Zachary's when I visit Berkeley. But I better start coming here more often. I got supreme and Hawaiian pizza and you can really taste the freshness... I wonder if they just sliced it before baking it lol. Seriously I have never tasted the freshness of vegetables on my pizza. I am used to greasy fried meaty pizza from chains. From the dough to the fresh ingredients, this pizza is closest thing to homemade pizza and really really tastes awesome. Like all good things, it does come with a price, large is about 20-23 dollar, but well worth it.

This is a great mom and pop pizza place! The pizza always have great flavor, crust is doughey and soft, and it's never greasy. I've tried several different types of pizzas, favorite so far is the Hawaiin. I'll definitely be back here again.

i'm a creature of habit, and honestly i've only ordered a small handful of their pizzas. but i have to say that the McHarts special is my favorite pizza of anywhere around here. It's by far the standard to which I compare all other pizzas. It's that damn good. Even better than huffing glue (just kidding, nothing is better than that). The BBQ chicken pizza is also up to par. Even the ranch dressing tastes better than any other ranch dressings (I can't explain it, they must spinkle some Crack in the recipe).

  • John L.

The place is amazing. I used to eat at a lot of pizza chains, but not anymore. While the price is slightly more expensive than some of the national chains, but it's all worth it. Pizza portion is decent, tons of topping, and tastes super fresh. I can't believe I waited this long to try out at this place. I heard that the restaurant has been in business for more than 23 years! They gotta be doing something right!

McHart's serves the best pizza in Cupertino and San Jose. My family loves to eat pizza at my home when I have a pizza party and McHart's pizza is served. The ingredients are fresh, tasty, and the crust can be ordered thin or thick. It's a family owned business and the owners are always friendly and so is the help. The restaurant is clean and comfortable.

Nothing to complain about here, but also nothing absolutely stellar. We got the McHart's special, large for $23.30. I think they have coupons online too that my bf printed out and used ($2.50 off McHart's special). It was pretty good! I appreciate that the sauce wasn't too salty, and I thought the price was pretty cheap for the area. Three of us polished off the whole thing.

J.T. McHart's is a Cupertino institution. It's a non-franchised mom and pop pizza place tucked in a strip mall along Steven's Creek Boulevard and Portal Ave. It's a traditional red checkered tablecloth pizza place with a couple of booths. They offer medium crust pizza, a small salad bar, and drinks. In my opinion it's the best medium crust pizza in the area. The toppings are high quality and they're not chintzy with them. The sauce is very tasty. The service is always very friendly and accomodating. I always feel welcome there. Another thing that sets them apart is that every weekday they from 11 until 2 they offer pizza by the slice. You can get a slice, a salad, and a soda for $8.50. You definitely do not walk away hungry with all that. The salad bar is small, but the ingredients are reasonably fresh. They keep the place clean which is a nice change from a place like Round Table. I highly recommend J.T. McHart's pizza.

I'm a huge combo pizza fan and I absolutely love the sausages and the fresh veggies on McHart's Pizza. The pizza tastes so good and healthy! The family that owes the place is great and so accomodating. By the way, their best kept secret is their pizza sandwich. This will certainly get you addicted!

SUPPORT LOCAL FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS. Father and son both greet you upon arrival with a great smile and friendly attitude. Unlike the massive pink elephant in the room, this case strip mall,(ELEPHANT BAR-YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) J.T.'s is aweSOME!!! Let me set up the scenario, hungry on a Friday night...wanting some grub. Drove right past the Sweet Tomato's, Chilli's, and BJ's. Ended up as if I was going to TGI Friday's, but missed the light. Saw the Elephant Bar, and thought...let's take a look, I haven't been here in years...and maybe it's not crowded. WRONG-line out the door. Slightly feeling down, I thought I might try Wahoo's(but I had Mexican at Google during lunch), and was not interested. I looked up, my tummy rumbled, and there...in all it's strip mall glory...was J.T. McHart's little pizzeria. Yes, a little more expensive then the chain-O-Domino's or Round Table, however, the service, fresh ingredient, and unique sour dough crust baked on a funny pan fully outweighs the price. The dinner specials are great, and again, the pop and son service was awesome. UPDATE/NOTE: As listed in their menu, and as mentioned by Raymond G, they prefer their normal thick crust, however, a lighter thin crust is available. I had 1/2 the "cupertino's choice" and "the hawaiian." It was fantastic and just what this non chain loving hopeful wanted! I put my seal of approval, even if they don't serve sweets. Please go to support the local pop and son team!!!

Ok I'm going to be completely honest about this place their pizza's are good but I had the worst possible experience their. A few weeks ago my whole family and I went here to have dinner around 7ish pm just to catch up and spend quality time. So we called in before hand to make reservations for about 11 people and they said ya sure come in, so we did and when we got there it was empty no rush or anything and a white older man with a white beard who seemed to be the owner told us to put our own tables together. (strike1) Then after putting our own tables a chairs together we just sat down relaxed and ordered our food which was at least 4 lrg pizza. Our waitress was very friendly and nice and everything seemed to be going well lots of laughs and giggles at our table. After being stuffed with all that yummy pizza it was a round 8:30 pm and the older white male/owner came up to our table and said "are you going to leave so we can clean up or what?" in a rude tone WTF?@$%(strike2) Then my cousin asked politely "oh are you closing right now?" and he said YES!!!! WTF!@$%#(strike3) we all look to our right and there was a couple who walked in 5 min prior who hasn't even gotten there food yet and the sign outside said they closed at 9pm! Man i was so irritated i didn't know if he was racist or what all i know is I'm never coming back!

Went there with my brother and his two precocious little girls. The pizza took a while but was worth the wait. The high schoolers (I think) who were up front were very polite and accomodating to the kids. It's kind of small place, but you could tell it's special to the community. Most of the people who came in while we were there knew the staff by name. All of us thought the pizza was good, and they also had a little salad bar that had a pretty decent selection, considering the size. Can't really comment on the price as my brother picked up the bill, but he didn't seem overwhelmed so it couldn't have been more than $40 for the four of us.

Jt's is an incredible pizza joint. Its family owned, and somewhat pricey for pizza, however they load on the toppings and per person it really shouldnt cost you more than $13/person if you're a big eater and get their standard crust. Half a large can sate most appetites. If you aren't a huge eater, then a 3 way split of a large should run you 8 or 9 dollars each. If you live in Cupertino, I believe there are coupons in the local coupon book that is sent out to all residents(forgot the name). Their pizza has very little oil beyond what seeps from the cheese. When they bring the pizza to your table, there will be some moisture on the tray bottom. It is NOT oil. The pizza is very easy to eat with your hands, with no greasy wipe-your-hands-constantly feel at all(lol pizza hut). They pack tons of toppings. It will not disappoint. Their sausage is particularly good. Be aware that their tomatoes and mushrooms are added relatively raw. As they dont make anything until you order it, this place probably isnt a good stop for people in a hurry. Expect to wait at least 20 minutes after you order. Its not a horrendous wait, since you can use some of their provided board games to keep yourself occupied. Their interior is standard for a pizza joint, nothing to say except to try to grab a booth if at all possible. Pizza's I've had and liked - McHarts Special Cupertino's Choice Big Hart Pizza's Ive had and not liked- None! A final note - make sure you eat in. The moisture accumulation I talked about earlier will end up in your crust if you get it in a carry-out box. Then you get soggy pizza crust and its really not comparable to what you get eating in. Plus the cheese will solidify by the time you arrive at your home, so you're really missing out if you dont eat in.

I'm sorry but this pizza isn't very good. It's all bread with very little flavor. The crust is doughy and way too thick. The salad bar is like a foot long with really lame toppings. We ordered a medium pizza and only ate 2 pieces. we threw the rest away. We could have made this pizza at home, it's very pedestrian.

  • Gina K.

They bill themselves as "Cupertino's finest pizza restaurant," but I'm not sure a) that's much to brag about, b) that's even true. It was a decent enough place, small, with one server and one pizza chef. They have a salad bar and a big variety of pizzas. When they brought the pizza out we couldn't believe how tall it was--big, fluffy crust and lots of toppings. But it turned out the toppings weren't really cooked and lacked flavor, and the crust wasn't anything special. I'd go back because it's less of a zoo than BJ's and it's right across the street from the bf's place, but I'm not sure it's the "finest" anything.

I've been going here for 20 years and that really should say it all. Best pizza around by far. If you like the taste of toppings, my suggestion here (and elsewhere) is to order with thin crust (which you can't do everyplace, of course) and "light" cheese (which means less cheese, not some different kind of low-fat cheese). You can also order spicy (tomato) sauce if you prefer; I don't. Generally I get pizza to go here, but there's one pizza you really have to eat there - the "Baja Express" which is basically all the standard Mexican ingredients (refried beans, ground beef, cheese, onions) on a pizza, and then the add the usual toppings - lettuce, tomato, sour cream, etc. on top after its cooked (you can see why you need to eat it right away).

ordered a large McHarts. Pizza was good, but didn't stand out to me.It's worth checking out if you're in the area, but not worth it to drive for. The salad bar is pretty small, and doesn't look appealing at all. The menu is pretty limited (only offers pizza and drinks), and it would be nice if there was salad and appetizers. The crust was good, the amount of toppings was fine, price was fine, however I didn't think there was enough tomato sauce on it. Also, In my opinion, the pizza tasted better the next day reheated, than it did when it arrived fresh at my table. We had pretty bad service. When we arrived, there was no line, but there was someone standing at the register at counter. no one greeted us and since it was my first time there, I was confused if we order and pay first at the counter or sit down. I flagged a waitress and she told me to pick a table to sit down at. by that time, there was a line of people waiting to order pizza from the cashier. We sat down for a LONG TIME without anyone coming by to take our order, so I figured I was supposed to go wait in line and order from the cashier. When I got in line, the waitress said she was sorry and would come by to take our order. I requested extra pizza sauce for dipping on the side. When she gave me the sauce, it was ICE COLD! Although she walked by several times, It took a long time before i was able to get her attention again to ask for it to be warmed up. By the time i received warmed up sauce, i was on my 3rd and last slice. We also never were asked if everything was ok, nor were we offered drink refills. At the end the owner came by and asked us if we liked our pizza. He also said that they were a bit busy and the waitress may have forgotten to ask us if we wanted more drinks, and offered to bring us some. He seemed very sincere but I was ready to leave and didn't feel like bringing up any issues about the waitress.

my favorite pizza evar! i am not nearly as well traveled as i would like to be, but i do feel that i have consumed an array of pizza's....they all fall at the feet of mc harts. the crust has perfect texture, flavor and thickness. the toppings are plentifully stacked on a fitting amount of cheese and sauce. i once handled a small pizza in a single sitting: true story.

This is the best place we have found yet since moving here from Chicago. The service was outstanding, people were so friendly and they really made our kids feel special. The pizza was awesome, ingredients were all fresh, plentiful and tasty! The crust was perfect and also really good. Although this was our first time, we will be back and try again!

LOVE LOVE LOVE JT's! I have yet to visit when the family who owns this restaraunt isn't there. They love this place, as do I. They serve THE BEST pizza I've ever had. The place is quaint and cute, and when it come down to it, the pizza is just so darn good! The prices might be higher than you're used to, but so is the quality. You truly get what you pay for!

Small. Hidden. Delicious. This place know how to make some real dough. Their homemade sourdough bread mixed with the just the right ingredients make for the perfect pizza - especially if you like thick and doughy crust. I had their Baja Express pizza (like a taco/burrito on top of a pizza - sounds weird but tastes great!) and loved it. I would have liked to have diced tomatoes instead of sliced tomatoes on top of the pizza - but eh, to each his own. We accidentally paid twice for the same pizza and they informed us and gave us the money back - how nice, huh? I'm definitely coming back here - especially to try their lunch specials.

One of the better pizza places in the area. Family run and owned, McHart's makes their pizzas fresh every morning. Their pizza is really tasty and prices are comparable with other pizza places in the area. I like their Supreme pizza which has a little bit of everything: pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham, salami, fresh mushrooms, black olives, red onions, bell peppers and fresh tomato. Yum!

Oh My God!!! This pizza is to die for! I ordered a combination with thick crust. Many years I have been a fan of Zachary's pizza since they were voted the best in the eastbay. I've got to tell you, J T McHarts blows Zachary's out of the oven! Crispy crust even on a thick crust pie, fresh cut vegetables and the best meats! No more driving to Berkeley to Zachary's, I'm going to Cupertino where the best pizza is, at J T McHarts. Take the drive, it's well worth the trip!

I'm a pizza purist, not a pizza snob. Usually when I visit a pizza place for the first time, I'll order the basic cheese pizza with the usual crust. Originally from the East Coast, my preference is thin and crispy, N.Y. style plain cheese pizza, folded in half with cheese, oil and sauce running down your fingers. But I also enjoy the thick and chewy crust with your usual toppings and I love authentic Chicago-style deep dish pizza. I yelped Pizza and a lot of people raved about this place, so we tried it. When it first came out, I was a bit disappointed but quickly satisfied. While it's not NY-style pizza, it's really good. It has a sourdough crust, the cheese is awesome, the best I've had in many years and the sauce is fresh and zesty. The service was friendly and courteous, the salad bar was nothing amazing but fresh and crispy. OK, the potato salad was pretty good. I don't think I'd go out of my way to come back here but if I did, it would be for the cheese.

Probably one of the best pizza places in the area in my opinion. By no means should the taste / flavor be considered traditional Italian pizza, this place nonetheless definitely has its own signature style. Clean, fresh, and distinctively Californian is how I would categorize McHarts.

  • V W.

Awesome pizza. Probably my favorite, if only because of the memories it brings, as my family and I have been going there for 20 years now. Thick, no-so-greasy, soft dough, with a good amount of cheese. The toppings are always fresh and piled on. I love their Hawaiian, but you can't go wrong with anything there.

  • Christine H.

I can't believe I lived down the street from this place for 12 years, and never went until the other day. I had a slice of pepperoni to see what all the Yelp fuss was about. It's pretty damn good, but not THE best.

  • Susan C.

Had lunch at McHart's a couple weeks ago and ordered the meat supreme special. Although the wait was short and the pizza was fresh, there wasn't as much in meat toppings as I had expected and the veggies were practically raw. Sauce, toppings were bland. The minimal amount of meat was buried under a huge pile of undercooked veggies, so I felt like I was having a veggie salad instead of a pizza. McHart's is overrated. Crust was good, though.

Deep dish to die for. The crust is crunchy and delicious, and the pizza is piled high with fresh ingredients. The small-family owned restaurant has a personal, child-friendly atmosphere. There are board games, cards and dice available to make family-night-out a real treat. One caveat, the restaurant shuts down absurdly early... Even on weekends, it's closed by 9pm.

This pizza is good but should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Zachary's! Hello fellow yelpers, that is just cruel... leads to extremely high expectations and subsequent disappointment. Same league as Applewoods, thick crust , good sauce, lots of toppings. This is better than Los Altos's Applewoods but not as good as Menlo Parks. Staff is super nice and friendly. We came in at 9 and the owner turned the oven back on for us, and was super friendly.

I eat a lot of pizza, and I know a good pizza. This sourdough pizza is fantastic, the best pizza in the area, that's for sure. The toppings were fresh and really high quality and I felt like the owners were really passionate about making good pizza. A friend dropped it off to me so I haven't seen the actual location so unfortunately I couldn't provide a synopsis of their decor.

So I actually only give this place 3.5 stars. The pizza was pretty average as far as taste, selection, and price. The crust was nice and crispy on the bottom, but I'm a fan of thin crust pizzas so if you're like me, this place probably isn't for you. I give them an extra star because their owner is so nice. He's really friendly but not overbearing and he just runs a really awesome establishment. Mchart's is worth stopping by, especially if you want to grab Yogurtland or Beard Papa's for dessert.

I was eating here back in the day when i used to ride my bicycle around Coop-town. I still love their pizza and try and visit this low key, family owned restaurant when I go down to cupertino. The sausage that they have is unbeatable! I'd highly recommend.

Found this place while working late one night and needing food to keep me going for a few more hours. Staff is super friendly, Pizza is great as well. If you live or work in the Cupertino area you should definitely give them a go, I believe they even deliver to certain buisness's in the area? Not sure so call to check on that one, but either way the pizza is great if you stay and eat it there, or take it home. Word.

If I could get pizza from only one place for the rest of my life, this would be it. JT McHarts is my favorite pizza parlor, hands down. I've been coming here for almost a decade, and I've always enjoyed my meal. The staff is always super friendly, and the owner is also very personable and has gotten to know my family on a first name basis. The pizza is made with the freshest ingredients and blanketed with mouthwatering sauce and toppings. The McHarts Special is to die for, but the JT Supreme and the chicken ranch pizza are also very tasty. Frankly speaking, you can't go wrong with any of their pizzas. The half of the year when I'm not in the Bay Area, I harbor an insatiable craving for pizza from JT McHarts. Fans of nothing else but NY style pizza and suck it! This is your hearty, juicy, robust, tastyy, oh-so-flavorful pizza. YUM

Great delicious pizza. Extra mile service. I called them at 1 min before closing, and though they turned off the oven, the owner turned it back on for me to order. I arrived after closing and he was very nice; he seemed unfazed by the after hours business.

great pizza. and i must admit this place has a very special place in my heart. lots of history here and have lots of friends that have come and gone through here. it was my old high school hang out. besides the nostalgia, the pizza rules. the dough is thick sourdough which is a carbo load. they sell generous slices during lunch. over the years my taste has gone to the thin sliced pizza so i come here less often. if anyone at jt mchart's is readling this... make a thin crust pizza and i'll be back!

Best pizza in Cupertino...and extending area! My husband and I are always on a mission to try to find the best pizza around. We tried JT McHart's last night as Jake's was packed. My husband grew up in this area and I am new to it but neither of us had ever been here before. On first glance, JT McHart's is a casual, family restaurant with nothing much exciting in the way of atmosphere. The staff is super friendly and the owner can be seen talking with each of the customers in the small dining room. You can feel the family owned, single owner business feel of the place- nothing flashy but all heart. Then the pizza came. WOW. The pizza bread is thick (but not deep dish) and is AMAZING. We ordered the #1 (McHart's Special w/o mushrooms, add garlic) and we were blow away by the fresh tomato, onion, bell pepper, and delicious sausage on it. The sauce was fantastic but the pizza bread was the real winner! Normally we split a small and feel satisfied with that. At JT McHart's we had a medium, preparing to take some home, but we couldn't stop eating it! After commenting to each other how great the bread was, the owner came around and we were happy to deliver the good news back to him that this was the best pizza we've had in this area! He was friendly and proud of his 25 year old, single owner, non-franchise, single location restaurant and it truly showed in the quality of his pizza. We will be coming back here whenever we need a pizza as it is, hands down, the best pizza in the Cupertino area!

This place is awesome! We have been patrons for over 15 years and we are always happy with the pizza. The toppings are very fresh, no canned products used...including fresh chunky sausage. This is a mom and pop run shop and I'm soo soo excited, that a place like this still exists. If you go in often, they get to learn your name and what you like. Robert, the owner, makes a point to get to know you and personally says hello when go in. Now that McHarts has spoiled me with great pizza, it's hard to go any place else. Nothing compares to this pizza.

  • Jason F.

I've been working JT into our routine over the past year, and I"m pretty happy with the pizza, though it's a little pricey. It would be 5 stars if they offered a honey wheat crust -- I mean really, it's time to get with the program here. ZPizza, CPK, all the cool kids are doing it. It's healthier, yummier, and they could charge an extra 50 cents (I wouldn't mind).

So we ordered wrong tonight...we ordered the thin crust and only got cheese. Who I'm guessing was the Manager/Owner came out when we were done and said "How was your pizza?"...to which we replied "It was great! Thank you very much!"...he was like "...Really?!" We thought it was classic! He went on to explain that the regular crust is the way to go and to go ahead and load up on the toppings next time. We'll definitely make a return trip. Super-friendly waitress and manager. Yogurtland is next door and awesome too. Thanks JT McHart's!

Having said that Lou Malnati's in Chicago is the best pizza I have ever eaten in my entire life, JT McHart's is the closest any other pizza has gotten to filling the hole in my stomach's memory for authentic Chicago deep dish pizza. You'll see when you sink your teeth into your first slice of pizza and experience the feeling that the bite will never end. (Sorry I know it sounds cheesy but it's the truth. Pun intended.) I remember when once upon a time there was a Superstars store next door that used to sell Beanie Babies and today there are cream puffs and yogurt stores. Yet I give this restaurant a lot of respect for having been in the same plaza for over ten years and i'm glad to say that the quality hasn't changed a bit. The crust is fantastic, the pizza itself is one of the highest quality.

Another great family owned business. I really prefer family owned to chain type businesses. The service is generally better and they are not so lacking in character. Excellent Pizza and good atmosphere makes this place. I order the thin crust and I haven't been disappointed. The ingredients are fresh and flavorful, the toppings are plentiful, and the crust is crispy not soggy. Parking can be a bit troublesome but I have always found a spot. Then again, I don't always go at peak times. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Solid tasty pizza at this local low key Cupertino favorite in the same strip mall as Yogurtland and Beard Papa's (in fact, right in between those places). McHart's Special (Small $13.10, Medium for $18.40, Large $23.30) was very tasty - came with a nice combo of pepperoni, Italian sausage, fresh mushrooms, red onions, bell pepper and fresh tomato on top of a nicely gooey cheese and a freshly handtossed sourdough-like thick crust. And they served it on this pizza pan that had raised bumps on the bottom so the crust wouldn't get soggy - great idea. Watch out for the crushed red pepper flakes on the tables - they are EXTRA spicy compared to the usual red pepper flakes. You gotta love the family feel of this place as it supposedly has been around 20+ years and family owned/operated. Service was extremely friendly as Casey took good care of us with a smile and checked on us several times. Bottom line: Unpretentious and friendly pizza place serving delicious pizza handtossed fresh. It's not a place that you might rave to all your friends about but it's a solid place that you'd come back to with no hesitation. (NYC pizza lovers - this is pizza with a THICK crust so not for you.) Two tips: (1) coupons available on their website and (2) save a bit of room in your stomach and get some Beard Papa's or froyo at Yogurtland afterwards right next door...

  • Greg B.

Nothing to write home about. The pizzas look gorgeous but fall short in the "wow" factor. Nice small pizzeria, good place to go and socialize with one or two friends. I tried half combo and half veggie and for the price I know several other places I would choose in a heartbeat.

family owned shop! love it! surprisingly ive never been here after living in cupertino for so long! i do remember trying a slice while at yogurtland, but this review is just for pizza my friend picked up. no idea how it looks on the inside. she ordered the chicken delight and a combination (mchart's special). the chicken delight was a hit! its something i love n miss from my sb giovanni days. a white sauce (i read on the menu it's ranch) chicken, garlic, and red onions. it was really good! their pizza is very dough-y, so you are really full if you eat teh crusts as well. the mchart's special didn't go so well. i think the slice of tomato on top of each slice threw everybody off, as it disguised the meats and made it look more like a vegetarian pizza. i did end up having a slice the next day and it was just okay to me. i would definitley go back for the chicken delight though!

I decided to come by here tonight to pick up a pizza for Game 7. The 20% off Yelp discount definitely helped me decide to come here instead of driving out to Round Table. The reason for my big drop in rating is because I witnessed an unsanitary food preparation practice. I was helping myself to the salad bar when the pizza maker comes by to use the ranch dressing to spread on a pizza he's making. That would be okay except that he used the same dressing serving spoon that we use for our salad to spread the ranch all over the raw dough, then put it back in the ranch sauce at the salad bar, contaminating the whole batch.

Awesome thick pizza freshly made, a reliable family run business, have been here dozens of times over the years. Best pizza for miles around. Both take-out and a small sit-down area. Optional salad bar, simple but fresh.

Well after hearing about all the rave reviews, it was time to check this pizza joint out. Upon arriving, I envisioned the place to be a lot bigger. It's actually really small but enough space between seats to not feel too crammed. My g/f and I ordered the # 8 specialty pizza. I forgot the exact name but it comes with pepperoni, mushrooms and olives, which was perfect b/c that is exactly what we order at other places as well. We ordered a medium, and it was plenty enough to go around. First off, this place isn't skimpy when it comes to toppings, which I love! The crust is very crisp and the ends of the pizza are definitely thicker. My g/f prefers thin crust all the way around but she still enjoyed her pizza. Also, the pizza is not very greasy at all. I've never tasted such a good pizza with not a whole lot of grease. Big ups there. I would say very and I mean very small deduction (i'm talking fractions) for the fact that I just wish they would put a little more of their wonderful sauce on their pizzas. Still, even if they didn't, I would eat this all the time. There seems to be a lot of locals so you get that "home" feel, which I like. Overall, simple unassuming place with great pizza.

My favorite pizza joint! I've been going here ever since I was four. I wish I could eat here more often, though. I'm not as great as a pizza fan anymore now because I'm more conscious about eating healthier ... so, sadly, I don't eat here religiously like I did in the past. However, if grease and health weren't an issue, I'd eat here as often as I could! Their pizzas are flavorful and their toppings are so fresh and delicious! My favorite is the Big Hart, loaded with meat (yes, I'm a carnivore). You can even request thicker crust, if you're a carb-lover like me. (breadivore?, ha!) Just thinking about it is making me drool... Even my relatives from a different state always, always request to stop by McHarts for lunch or dinner... at least twice when they visit. That's the only thing on their mind when they visit me. Unfortunately, I had one bad experience with McHart's. Some time seven years ago, I got food poisoning from this place... it was so awful that I had to go the hospital, missed school for a whole week, etc. Bleh. But despite that unfortunate incident, I still go back here... haha.

I'm catching up on some reviews right now - I went here earlier this month with my roommates. We walked into the restaurant and it was practically empty except for one couple sitting in a booth. We are told to find our own seats which is fine by me. A waitress comes over and takes our orders (without have a pen and pad of paper in her hand). We tell her our order then she says, "wait, let me get a pen and paper." Nobody is really impressed if you can memorize our orders or not - they just want to make sure their order is right. We wait some time for our pizzas to be made and sip on our sodas. I notice the waitress is sitting on the counter and is on her iPhone. I know it wasn't very busy in the place but I found it hard that she had nothing else to do and it just makes her look lazy on the job. The pizza was delicious though and I would definitely have it again. I believe the guy that made our pizzas may have been the owner. At one point he even brought us refills for our sodas since the waitresss was occupied with her iPhone.

I have been going to J T McHart's for a few years now, as a couple of my friends used to work there while going to school. I have had pizza both at the restaurant, and take out several times. While I was working at Bank of America down the street, we once placed a fairly big order for carry-out (four different large pizzas) during a busy lunch on Friday. Our pizzas were cooked to perfection and exactly as ordered, and were done at the time I was told they would be ready (about 20 minutes from placing the order). Dining in the restaurant is very pleasant. The decor is very homey, and relaxing. Booths are the most comfortable. There is an excellent salad bar during lunch, and there is a full list of bottled and tap beers. Robert, the owner, is more likely than not at work, and is very attentive to both the quality of the pizzas as they're created, and to the happiness of his guests. I highly recommend this place for meeting with friends or clients. I would call it one of the best kept secrets in Cupertino. Whenever I bring friends, they're blown away and mad that I haven't brought them before. My favorites are the hawaiian (add bacon) and the barbecue chicken. Perfectly executed basics.

3 SOLID Stars!! I love pizza that packs a flavor punch! Some mainstream joints do it for me but I like to also try specialty pizza locations such as JT's. For me its the SAUCE! If I can't taste the sauce- Pizza is bland to me. I had the JT combo and the ingredients and quality were top notch. I just didn't taste the sauce... The next day the pizza was a little better after all the yummy greasies were reheated in the micro. This will not be my last visit. I will try another pizza and ask for extra sauce. The crust is excellent so it's worth another shot. I will return and re-review!

We ordered 2 pizza's togo from here this weekend and was pleasantly surprised/shocked. First time finally having their pizza after hearing good things about it for a while now. Had some friends coming over so we decided to finally try some of their stuff. When first looking at the pizza it looks ordinary enough....until you stuff it in your face and realize that somehow this is one pretty darn good pizza that surpasses all your expectations (based on looks alone). Not usually a big fan of doughy pizzas but somehow their pizza was on the thicker side but really didn't have that much of a dough feel. Instead it felt more....ingredients covered. Tons of yummy flavorful toppings on a light thick crust (if there ever was such a thing!). Both me and my sister agreed that this is our new pizza to go spot if ever craving something delicious!

Please read my previous review below. I have not found that style of pizza that I'm accustomed to growing up in the Chicago area. However, I have discovered that in the South Bay Area JT McHart's is the best pizza around. They put quality ingredients and time into their product. The owner Robert is always personal and warmly thanks you for your patronage. I visit at least once a month and I suggest you give it a shot too. Best pizza around!

This is the first time trying the pizza joint. I picked up my two pizzas and realized the place was owner operated (i like that!). I ordered 2 medium pizzas with one topping each (about $15 each). The owner was pretty friendly, too which i can appreciate. The pizza itself was good but not unique. The overall taste was okay but the dough was pretty thick and the sauce/cheese/toppings could have had more flavor. The pizza place is pretty close to my work so i'll probably come here again but might venture other places to see what they're offering as well.

This place WAS a great place to go! I'm a simple kinda guy. You either get a 5 star or a 1. There is no in between with me. In the past I've rated this place 5s every time but tonight was different. Don't get me wrong the food is great but when it's obvious that you gave me a pizza that was a no show pick up order... I'm gunna know. We get there and we get our drinks and salad bowls. And before I can even finish my salad the pizza is out. Literally 5 mins later it hit our table. There no way you can prep, make, and cook a pizza in five minutes. The pizza wasn't piping hot like it usually is (and everyone else's seem to be steaming) and it was a tad bit soggy... Like it had been sitting for a bit and they just reheated it. I'm EXTREMELY disappointed. Not to sure if I'll be retuning to JTs! Oh... And I certainly hope my pregnant wife doesn't get sick from eating a soggy reheated pizza. Cause they obviously didn't reheat is to a safe temp.

So glad we finally tried McHart's! We frequent Yogurtland just next door and I've always wondered about this pizza joint hidden in the corner. So happily surprised by great customer service and great pizza all in one. It all started, with possibly the manager or owner, I'm not sure - generously suggesting what would be the best deal for our family - AND THEN - he offered to make our daughter (almost 3) her very own cheese pizza on the house. Four grown adults easily shared the pizza +4 salad meal deal. I think we had one piece left over since our daughter got her own. The pizza was great, it was HEARTY - in both crust and toppings. No skimping on the toppings for sure. Will definitely go back. Thanks McHarts!!

This is a great pizza place on multiple levels. First off, the pizza. The crust is by far the best pizza crust in cupertino. It's a nice thick, soft crust that holds up to whatever toppings you put on it. We ordered a chicken pizza and a pepperoni. The toppings are fresh and cut into appropriate sizes. I hate when there's huge pieces of chicken that slide off my pizza. That's not a problem here. Also, they put enough sauce to make it delicious without making it sloppy. Second, the salad bar was great. The lettuce wasn't just huge white pieces, but lots if leafy greens. The veggies were fresh and chilled. Third, the service is the best. Everyone working was friendly without being overbearing. We had our 2 year old with us and she decided to throw a fit. They gave us a ball of dough for her to play with and told us not to worry about her wondering about. They really welcomed us and didn't make us feel bad about bringing our kid. And lastly, the prices was great. I felt like what we got far exceeded the amount we paid. After having tried multiple pizza places in cupertino, we've finally found our favorite.

JT McHart's pizza can be characterized as a thick crust pizza. If you ever had Stuft pizza in the bay area, it would be comparable as that. Nevertheless, the quality of the ingredients and the way it's made makes eating their pizza a treat. Also, we always order a side of garlic cheesy bread because, frankly, we can't get enough of it. My favorite pizzeria, hands down. Best pizza I've ever eaten. Consistently outstanding. Great family-friendly environment, and just a few steps from Beard Papa's and Yogurtland. (Not that I ever leave here with room for dessert!) Excellent service, starting with the friendly and professional owner-manager Robert Booth. We usually chat with him a bit when we stop by. The photos show that it's possible to order a half-and-half pizza... but they can even split a large into quarters! This was just the ticket for trying many different flavors at once. Mr. Booth even had it cut into narrower slices ("double cut"), so the two of us could make it all the way around this custom "McHart's Sampler". (My favorites are the McHart's Special, BBQ Chicken, and Chicken Delight.) For the love of all things pizza, support this business so it will continue to flourish!

I went in on a Saturday afternoon, as per recommendation by my friend. Walking in, I smelled the awesome scent of pizza. Glanced at the menu then decided to go for the McHart's Special. Pizza took about 15-20 minutes to make. Checked out some of the surrounding businesses while I waited. Took the pizza home and dove right in. This pizza was definitely of the highest quality. The pizza was a borderline deep dish for how many toppings this thing had. I really liked that they garnished the pizza with FRESH tomatoes after the pizza cooked -adding an extra effect to the culinary experience. All ingredients tasted very fresh. Only problem with this place is the price, which runs a bit on the pricey side.

This pizza place is a hidden gem amongst nothing but mostly Asian cuisine. Their pizza is super delicious and the dough is just the right flavor and consistency. They have really creative pizzas too and the owner is really nice! If you're tired of the big pizza franchises this is definitely the place to go. Support local businesses!

This is great pizza if you crave a thicker slice. The family owned business is run daily by an owner who truly understands customer service. We are so glad you're only a few blocks from our house. Now we can head in for a hot pie fresh out of the oven. We can relax and enjoy the laid back vibe of our neighborhood pizza place. I love the thick crust of this pizza. Don't get me wrong, I love a NY slice too, but this really hits the spot when you want that thick slice. It's loaded with toppings, never sags, crispy pizza goodness. They even made a tiny personal size pizza for my 3 year old, that's not even on the menu. BONUS! Yum!

This was the first pizza I had in CA. I'm not a deep dish fan, so I asked them to make a thin crust for me. Keeping it simple, I had plain cheese (that's the litmus test for me and I'm on a quest to find the best pizza near my new home). The sauce was very good, and it had plenty of cheese. I could tell they didn't specialize in thin crust, it was pretty dense for a thin crust, but still tasty. Service was attentive, the waitress automatically brought water (I like that). We had a pitcher of beer and it was larger than I expected and nice n cold. I'll be back!

Great pizza! Friendly staff! Quick service! We were there a little too close to our 1 year old's bedtime. The owner chatted with us and brought out a ball of dough to entertain him for a bit. The pizza was delicious. We had a large pizza with mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, garlic & black olives. It was extremely well balanced. The sauce has a great flavor! I can't wait to visit this place again!

Awesome pizza. Been living in area for 16 years and 1st time to eat there. Crust is the best around.

I will keep it short. Went here with my fiancé and bro in law. Best pizza I ever had. We had the chicken pizza and Mexican pizza and both were amazing. Service was great and the owner was very kind and polite. He came over to our table and asked about our experience which was nice of him. The crust, the cheese , the veggies and the meat all tasted amazing .

Outstanding! Best pizza in the area, by far. Service was fast, staff is friendly, the place is CLEAN! Definitely West Coast pizza (toppings piled high, crisp crust), but among the best I've had. If you are within 15 miles, it's worth the drive.

Pizza is delicious and fresh. They use high quality ingredients and you can tell. Its kind of pricey but I think its worth every dollar! We tried the mexican pizza and it was very delicious. I've been craving a pizza like this since Shakeys in San Jose closed down and they definitely helped fill my craving. Will be going back here next time I need a pizza fix :)

AWESOME PIZZA! The sauce is out of this world, the pepperoni is loaded with flavor and the crust of the pizza is thick and toasted nicely. With so many people aerating the dough so you don't get those wonderful little flavor bubbles in the pizza, I am glad to see that J T's does not do this. I think the "crust bubble" is one of the best parts of a pizza. They even gave us 25% off when we were in there just for telling them we found it on Yelp.

This pizza place is fairly small, but they pack a lot of flavor in their food. I ordered their combination pizza I forgot the name, but it was exactly like a combination. Pizza: pepperoni, black olives, ham, sausage, green bell pepper, red onions, The pizza crust was extra crispy not burnt which is a good thing. Typically with pizza thats about an inch thick would be soggy on the bottom, but it was not which is a huge plus for me it is hard to find a pizza places that does not burn the bottom of the crust and it has a nice crispy crunch to it. Their veggies I believe were very fresh non of it was burnt like typical pizza places. I would come here again because it's near work and right next door is bearded papa's for desert Yum!!

The quality is what keeps me coming back for more. Prices are comparable to Pizza My Heart, but you really get what you pay for. Never dripping with oil/grease like most places and portions are perfect if not tipping the scale of EPIC. I usually get a med chicken pizza with half Zucchini and Pepperoni w/t red sauce(shared between my wife and I). It weighs like 10 lbs and I always have left overs for the next day (if I didnt go back for seconds) which tastes as good if not better 2nd time reheated (rare for most pizzas). Very consistent quality over the past decade since I moved here from Las Vegas. I've been going here less than usual because I now live 20 min away, well worth the travel. If I want to eat something special, I'd come here no doubt. Even after my pizza "dry spell", The Owner still recognizes me when I drop by. He is obviously very passionate, hardworking and a perfectionist to his craft. This is why J.T. McHarts would deserve 5-STARS in my book. I'd recommend the "Cupertino's Choice" for you meat lovers out there... ITS AWESOME!!!

If my memory serves me right, this is one of the best pizza joints in the area. I don't come here as often as I used to (during my fat days, yes I was fat once...hella!). I used to order a Pepperoni & Jalepeno pizza. JT McHart is known for their thick crusts. I'm not really a fan of thick crust, but the crust here is worth eating. It's that good! If you're ever in the Cupertino area and you're cravin' pizza...skip BJ's and head on over to a local establishment and support a small business...visit JT McHart's!

I came to JT's last week to meet up with an old friend. It's in the same plaza as Yogurtland and Daiso. We decided on getting the combo pizza but dumb me I forgot to mention the yelp discount. Upon entering, it was loud as there was a little league team eating dinner. We decided to eat outside since it was not as noisy and a beautiful night. The pizza was good and filled with toppings. It was good and not overly greasy like some places. It's good but not as good as some other places in the area - thus my 3 star review. We met the owner who was more than hospitable. I will continue to support these small businesses than eating at the major chains. Keep it up!

3.5 stars I've seen this place far too many times, but actually dining there never struck my mind. One day, not sure what to have for dinner we decided to try McHart's out. The 20% off mention yelp discount sealed the deal. The place is really small, with probably about 10 or less tables. Workers were pretty friendly, felt like a mom and pop kind of establishment. As in not super professional or anything... I like how we were able to order the pizza half/half, so I decided on the McHart special and chicken delight. I changed the bell pepper for jalapenos on the McHart and it was pretty delicious. The chicken one was okay, both were really decent, but not spectacular. A small pizza gives you 6 slices, which was good enough to feed two plus 1 slice left over. Overall, pizza was pretty good. It was nice to try. Our total came out to about $13 which is not bad at all, but that's with the discount.

Have been eating here since they opened. Never disappoints, it's a loaded pizza with top quality ingredients. My sister won't eat any other pizza, which is great because she ends up buying and picking it up. Gotta love that. It's a bit more expensive but, you can taste the quality.

THE MCHARTS SPECIAL IS AMAZING. I go through periods where I just crave pizza and have to have it. A had one of those nights a few days ago. Turns out it was Cupertino Community Day where proceeds are donated to teachers and McHart's was participating. Okay, so they're into the community - +1. However, the place was packed (with strangely, lots of India people?) but nonetheless, I patiently waited, ordered my pizza, wandered around Daiso next door for 30 minutes, and got my pizza. Went home and ate half of it. DELICIOUS. Pizza craving sated. Will be coming here next time I want pizza.

Flava Flav may be a wise philosopher. But, when it comes to J. T. McHart's pizzas, I respectfully disagree with the clock-wearing savant. Believe the hype. After reading the glowing reviews on Yelp, we decided to give this place a try. Sure enough, the positive feedbacks were spot on. J. T. McHart makes one helluva tasty pie. And that's coming from a native New Yorker with a congenital disdain for pizzas made outside of the Empire State.

Delicious thick-crust pizza. We ordered a half BLT, half BBQ chicken pizza and enjoyed it thoroughly. All toppings were fresh, high-quality and appetizing. A large will probably feed four people reasonably well. Who knew we had so many good pizza options in the Cupertino area? Good: - Quality ingredients - Crust was thick, crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside - simply perfect. - While none of the pizzas sounded terribly exciting on the menu we were very pleased with what we were served. Bad: - This place is dangerously close to where I live and work.

Our favorite pizza place. You can ask for thin crust. You can also ask for spicy sauce. A bit more $ than other pizza places but I'd call this premium pizza vs generic so well worth it in my opinion.

Crust--crispy, fluffy. Remember those folks who'd throw away the crust? The really odd folks? I used to do that when I was a kid. I actually love the crust on their pizzas and it's almost my favorite part of eating here. Toppings--generous, high quality. The mushrooms were nice and dry (didn't bleed water) and thinly sliced. The pepperoni was excellent Sauce--not bad, not incredible but you don't notice anything good or bad Service--excellent. Small place, owned by a nice gentleman. I used to call in a pizza when I'd take night classes. He was good about taking a really late order for pickup. The restaurant itself is cozy; good date spot. Let's keep this place in business for as long as possible. Great place.

hands down, the best pizza in the entire South Bay. parking is sometimes tough in this converted shopping center. if you can dodge all the bad drivers here (Cupertino), it's worth the effort. the pizza crust is unique - sour dough. normally i leave the crust on the plate. not at this place. this guy (owner) has been here for 25 years. hope he doesn't sell the place.

We LOVE McHart's! My husband and his family have been coming here for years and for good reason. The pizza is delicious! I love thin crust pizza and am usually not big into thick crusted ones so I didn't think I'd love it as much as I do. Toppings are fresh, sauce is just right and they do a great job of cooking it just the way you like. I.e well done or light cheese. The place is cozy and the staff and owner Robert are always very friendly. This place is nothing fancy but its consistently good and is one of the few restaurants in Cupertino that is "mom and pop" operated and feels like part of the community. Love this place!

Went with Z-Girl & Jen-Bot on a Saturday night & the place was packed, which is a good sign. We grabbed the last big table along the windows & ordered a large 1/2 JT Supreme & 1/2 Blanche's Favorite pie. The food came out in about 15-mins which seemed fast for how busy they were. The food was tastier than most other pizza places we've tried recently. The veggies looked like they were put on the pie after it came out of the oven as they looked fresh & not dehydrated by heat. Toppings were so plentiful that we couldn't see the cheese beneath. You could even ask for pineapple and/or extra garlic gratis. Although the crust was on the thicker side, it tasted good & was worth the extra carbs. I think they also served beer & wine but we didn't partake. The server was great; just the right amount of attention without feeling like we had to flag her down or that she hovered over us. I liked the atmoshere of McHart's, it definitely seems more of a proper sit-down pizza restaurant, more so than the chains that try to emulate the experience like Round Table or Pizza My Heart. Seemed very old school but nice. There also wasn't an annoying stream of people coming in & ordering to-go. Everyone that came in sat down to dine in. Overall, a nice low-key night out with good food & family. And one more thing... clean bathrooms!

When I walked into JT McHart's, I felt like I had traveled back in time to yesteryear. Since we all get pizza delivered 99% of the time, eating here is kind of like catching a black and white rerun of "Leave It To Beaver." Quaint and reminiscent. Anyways, three of us shared a medium JT Supreme pizza, and one of my friends got the Special Calzone. Portion-wise, it was perfect. The pizza wasn't bad, but there was definitely something off. It was really bugging me until I had an epiphany -- the pizza tasted like a sandwich. - There wasn't enough cheese or tomato sauce. - There were layers and layers of ham - And all of the veggies on top were raw (mushrooms and giant slices of tomatoes). It's great that they use fresh produce, but it's just plain weird to have cold, raw chunks of veggies on a pizza. It ain't no salad! = Cheese and tomato sauce are pizza staples, so without them you're left with bread, ham, and raw vegetables. Sandwich, anyone? My friend's calzone was big but pretty empty inside. He ended up scooping off all the raw mushrooms from my pizza and stuffing them inside his calzone. Teamwork! The strongest aspects of this restaurant are the environment and the service, for sure. I'm not sure if I'd go back for the food, but I definitely appreciate that our waitress was great.

Thick crust deliciousness from a nice family-owned shop. The ingredients are always fresh and they are more than happy to get creative with your pie if everyone at your table has a different preference.

Totally AWESOME! Will give this place a 4 star because the pizza is great! Blanches favorite: pepperoni, mushrooms and black olives, whats it missing? Italian sausage!!! The place is very small and cozy, not really special inside. You actually seat yourself and someone takes your order, the service was actually really good. They girl who helped us out came around took our drink order, then came around a couple times and gave us the time needed to pick out a pizza. My girlfriend let me pick out the pizza cause it was our first time here, oh man I was excited when I she read on the back of the menu that it was made with a sourdough style pizza. hmm are most pizzas like this? or this might be the first time trying to but man oh man... Out pizza came out in about 15 mins, which was def not a long wait, came out piping hot. The cheese oozing when you pick it one out. We also asked for ranch and anchovies (my gf likes it, ewww) and they didnt charge us like some pizza places do. the first bite was yummy! nice balance of cheese and sauce with loads of toppings. But, like I say in most pizza reviews, that pizza is always the best when the sauce is GOOD. The sauce was awesome, kind of chunky which gave it a burst of flavor and then the CRUST was nice and crispy and gave this taste I really cant describe. This goes back to that sourdough flavor or something, but it kept making me want more and more of the pizza even though I was really full! I am going to give this place a 4 star so far, because I feel I need to come back one more time to try another type of pizza maybe the McHarts or a thin crust pizza. To fully give them the 5 star rating. THUMBS UP!

Definitely a good pizza in the Cupertino area. Plus, with the Yelp discount its just unbeatable! Also, great location with LOTS of dessert places for afterwards - pmt, beard papas, froyo, etc! We arrived last night around 8:30. They graciously let us still eat in, just without a salad bar (they close at 9). The waitress was pleasant and helpful! A medium pizza, half BLT and half Special. YUM YUM! The pizza crust was crispy and delicious. The boyfriend liked both the ranch an red sauces on the pizza. The BLT flavor was a 3 star for me - I personally like my toppings to stay on my slice and the lettuce and tomatoes were falling off all over the place. Despite this, this was definitely a BLT pizza. Bacon in EVERY bite, lettuce crisp and shredded to small bite sizes and the TOMATO, JT McHART where do you get your tomatoes in this winter weather?! It was sweet like a summer tomato. Delicious (yes, I'm a tomato fan). The special was yum! Its a combo pizza. Large sausage pieces, yum mushrooms. Just overall goodness. It doesn't beat Costco's combo pizza on price, but its up there in taste comparison. Remember I'm quantity over quality. With the yelp discount, the pizza was SO worth it! We were so happy with our pizza that we paid back the discount. The manager also came around and made sure we were taken care of and wrapped up our leftovers on cardboard wrapped in foil!

Came here a long time ago, but it wasn't memorable enough for a yelp review. This time around, we got really great service and they had that yelp deal we took advantage of. Ambiance reminds me of being a kid and going to pizza joints on Fridays, not that it needs updating. It's nice and cozy, with a local / home-y feel. We got their special for 2: med pizza, 2 small salads, and 2 drinks. Salad bar isn't anything special, but they have the basics. Plus you don't want to get full off salad at a pizza joint anyway. It does the job. Pizza we ordered was half McHarts special and half veggie. The pizza overall was pretty good, lots of toppings, just enough cheese and sauce. What I loved most was the crust - nice and crunchy, and good enough for me to just want to eat the edges. Admittedly, we were motivated to come back because of the yelp deal (and I was craving pizza). The pizza was just ok, with a great crust. What stood out is the service - everyone was really nice. We'll definitely come back again.

I'd say this place wins hands down for its fresh made to order pizzas true American style. Its a small place but if you could manage to get a table outside you could enjoy the place and pizza. I love the amount of toppings on pizzas, lots of tomatoes and olives and oh so soft crust.

J T Mchart's is absolutely my favorite pizza joint. All of their toppings are fresh and everything is made fresh. Their toppings blows all the chain pizza joints out of the water. I highly recommend this place!

We got a medium sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, and tomato pizza to go. - Toppings: great quality, generous. However, there was lots of pepperoni and mushroom (the ingredients my wife likes) but noticeably lighter on the sausage and tomato (the ingredients I like). Me thinks they are in cahoots! - Crust: good balance of chewy and crunchy. Similar in thickness and general style to papa john's original. Some of the crust towards the center of the pizza was a little soggy after the 10 minute drive home (might ask them to not pre-slice the pizza next time). - Service: friendly take out - Sauce: good flavor, but a little light in spots for me. I'm a big fan of sauce in general, will order it with extra sauce next time. - Cheese: didn't add, didn't detract Overall a good, solid pizza, especially for toppings people.

I was suppose to eat Elephant bar but wait was too long so my friends and I ended walking over to JT. I gotta admit I was skeptical about this place as I walked in and no one was there to seat us. Little did I know you seat yourself haha... Anyways, the pizza here is great. Not too greasy. Its pretty comparable to Premire pizza but the crust is way better. The crust is pretty thick but not chicago style. Toppings are fresh and service is great. Definitely would go back if I was in the area. The girl that took our order was beautiful too! Another reason for me to go back!

This time around I made the right decision and went with a pizza with mushrooms, olives and bell peppers. A very basic pizza. Something that would highlight their sauce and toppings. Guess what? It was just what the doctor ordered. It was perfect. A little crispy on the bottom. Lots of great flavor. A tasty crust. This is what pizza should be. I'll definitely be back there again. One interesting note is that the waitress remembered me and what I got last time ... I don't really know how.

Updated to a FIVE star! The pizza tonight was awesome awesome awesome. I love how the pizza here is NOT oily or greasy at all. I can eat 3.5 slices and leave without feeling all greased up inside like at other pizza spots. As others have mentioned, the toppings are super fresh and plentiful. Not like Amici's where they skimp on the toppings. They even put fresh tomatos to top it off. You know what made the pizza more awesome tonight? It was accidentally made to be crispier on the bottom! The owner, Robert, is super cool and he said I can request that anytime and he'll know exactly what we mean (they leave it in the stove for another couple rounds and let it stick more to the pan or something like that). The bottom was super crispy, but the top was still soft. MmmmmMmmmMmmm. I like how they never actually take the coupon, and you just have to show it. I keep the coupon in my wallet 24/7, just in case I get to go to JT McHarts :) $2.50 off a large McHart's special is not bad at all. Only about $24 including tax. 10 slices in the large. If you love pizza, you'll definitely love this place. It's definitely the best pizza that I've had in the South Bay and beyond! I still love Zachary's a lot, but that's a totally different style. Come here for non-oily pizza topped with fresh ingredients. Ask for the crunchier bottom, I really think it's better!

I've lived in the area for many years, shopped in the shopping center where they're located & never went in until recently... THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!!!!!! The Good: -best pizza ever, LOADED with fresh yummy toppings (no skimping here!) -fresh salad bar -great table service, the gal that helps us is always super friendly -super cool owner Thankfully there's no "bad" or "ugly" to report on this place. They always make you feel at home & if you ever have any special requests, they just do it. Great service, great food! Definitely my new favorite pizza joint!

Its a nice, quaint place in a busy plaza, the people are really nice and down to earth. Funny how this place is located in the middle of a bunch of Asian restaurants in Cupertino. Pizza places are usually loud, busy and the people come and go like a cheap brothel but not this place. The prices are just about decent, the service is a quick and the food is tasty. The personal pizza is big enough for 2 people to share. I ordered the Chicken delight pizza which was filled with strips of chicken breast as in literally an over abundance of chicken. I checked out the Pepperoni and cheese pizza of my friend and it looked like it was piled with large pepperoni slices. If I had to describe them in a few words, I would say 'Fresh' and 'Generous'. So sit down on one of their cozy booths, grab a glass of the house wine and pick a good hooker... errrr I mean pizza.

Whenever I go back to California, I always need to make a trip to McHarts as it's my favorite pizza in the bay, and probably the only reason for me to venture back to Cupertino. I've been going here since Jr. High, and I still have yet to find a pizza place that serves anything like the crispy sourdough crust that you can get here. If you like thin pizza, this may not be the place for you, but they're very generous with their toppings, and as said before, the crust is what makes the pizza. The McHart's Special and J.T. Supreme are favorites. Service is usually pretty good when the high school or college kids aren't serving and taking orders.

Really good pizza. Actually, its probably the best pizza I have had in a long time. It was a little weird to that a pizza place would be in that plaza. Its between yogurtland, Daiso and beard papas. I ordered Blanche's favorite or something like that and added sausage. So it was pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and black olives... Everything the bf loves haha. The crust was crispy and not oily. The sauce had a good spiciness to it and the service was very good. The pizzas are a tad on the expensive side but I guess you pay for the quality which I don't really mind.

YUMMMMMM! this is one of my favorite pizza places! So I first heard about this place from yelp, so I decided to try it. Food: the crust is delicious, the ingredients are always fresh, and the pizza is way better when you eat it there (instead of taking it to go. I've done both, and eating it there is a must!) They also have a small salad bar, but I've never tried it. Service: The service was quick, we didnt have to wait too long for our order (when we ate there). One thing though, they like to start closing down the place a little early if they arent that busy. so watch out! especially on the weekdays. Ambiance: cute, quaint. Not fancy. They even have board games you can play while you wait or even while you eat. Price: although its slightly more expensive than your average pizza place (little Caesars, round table, etc.), it is well worth it! Come here for some good, authentic pizza, with yummy crust!

Their pizzas are YUM! They allow you to customize your pizza toppings and sauce; this is great for those who have food allergens. They're community oriented and will work with setting up fundraisers for your group. It's small and cozy inside. They also have board games to play while you wait for your food. They don't make your pizza until you order it, so it takes some time to come out. I wish their salad bowls were a bit bigger. I really like making my own salads. This was also the first time I tried pesto sauce instead of tomato/marinara sauce. It was delicious!! Top it off with garlic, artichokes, chicken, and onions. All their toppings are fresh. Their pizza is soft and crunchy on the bottom. Plus they are conveniently located next to Yogurtland and Papa Beard's!

This has been my favorite pizza place for over 10 years. One of my favorite things is that you don't have to feel stuffed or disgusted with yourself when you're done eating here. The pizzas range anywhere from light with lots of veggies to downright delicious and meaty. The Gardener is a great choice for vegetarians (it's even good without cheese). There's also a thin-crust option for those that want a little less crust. Definite crowd-pleasers include the McHart Special, a great combo pizza, and the Chicken Delight, which is perfect for garlic lovers. Even though the place is fairly small and the preparation takes some time, it is well worth the wait. It is essentially the In-and-Out of pizzas: simple, fresh, and delicious.

Craving for pizza yesterday and decide to try JT McHart as I am a regular at Yogurtland and the yelp reviews here are solid. Had the meal for two which included a drink, salad bar and a medium pizza for about $27. We got a half-and-half, the McHart's Special (pepperoni, italian sausage, mushrooms, red onions, bell peppers and tomato) and the BBQ Chicken (BBQ sauce, chicken, red onions, cilantro). The pizza was abundantly covered with these toppings making every single bite simply amazing and tasty! The size was pretty large for a medium and definitely enough for two people. We got there when it opened at 4pm so it was very low key. Nonetheless, the staff was very friendly and made you feel at home. Great place to go with a family or group of friends. For you sports fan's sorry there is no TV. Mention Yelp and you'll 20% off.

McHart's is our go-to place after a long tough week. The pizza is fantastic, with a special sourdough/yeasty tang that I have looked for and seldom found in other pizzas. The owner and staff are friendly and take good care of you,and the salad bar, though small, is awesome. What more to ask for? Exvcellent beer and soft drinks and a warm, friendly, local place to hole up in on a cold night.

There is no better pizza. I've been coming to McHart's since they opened around 20 years ago. I was hooked from the first pizza. Now my kids are also hooked. The crust has a perfect consistency, not crispy thin, not doughy thick, just the right amount of thickness of perhaps 1/2 inch. I like the taste of the crust all by itself, and never toss the edges without sauce. The sauce, the element that most defines a pizza, is heavenly. The sauce is beautifully flavored, with strong flavors of real tomato and a touch a fennel. The toppings are fresh, substantial, and of the best quality. As a meat lover, I really appreciate the intense flavors of their pepperoni and bacon. And, they're happy to top your pizza however you want it, which really helps when trying to satisfy myself and my kids. The servers and the owner are always very friendly. And you can watch them making your pizza. You can sit inside for a pleasant time, sit outside in the courtyard for an outdoor cafe feel, or take it to go.

This is most likely the best pizza in the south bay. As much attention is put into the sauce and bread which is what makes a good pizza. By the slice with a drink is a bit pricey close to 6$ but I suppose that encourages me to seek healthier and cheaper alternatives. I'll come back again once a week.

For NOW, I give this place 3.5 stars. I notice that this place gets lots of good reviews, however, my first (and only time) I've been here wasn't that great to be honest. I LOVE PIZZA CRUST. I love THICK, CRUSTY, SOFT-IN-THE-MIDDLE CRUST. ... But that's just me. When I came here one night, it was 30 minutes until closing time. We ordered the special and the garlic chicken. When the pizzas came out, they looked AMAZING, but when I took a couple bites, I noticed that both pizzas crusts were moderately burned and the parts of the crust that weren't burned were very bland. I agree with everyone that the toppings are SPOT ON. Not too salty, just the right amount, and not greasy at all! I want to love this place but I can't right now. I honestly want to go back on a night when they're not too close to closing time. Maybe the reason I wasn't impressed with my pizzas was because it was almost closing time and the staff was trying to hurry up and close everything down. That's okay though. The owner and staff are really nice and respectful. Great little family-owned restaurant. I will definitely come back here and give them another shot.

I've been here plenty of times the food and service is not consistent. There are times when I order pizza, the people are great and the pizza is delicious. There are times when the good service I'm used to is lacking and the pizza isn't as great. The last time I was in there, which was a couple of nights ago, there was one brunette girl who seemed and a bit lost - forgot what our drinks where - forgot to give us extra napkins as requested. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she was having a bad day, but it didn't seem like she was picking up on things during the whole time I was there. There is a blonde girl who I've always seen working there and she is a very polite and an efficient worker. Overall, I'm still going to come back here. Most of the time the food is good.

I really do not like to eat pizza, mainly because it isn't healthy. BUT I will make an exception for JT McHart's!!! YUMMY =D So this place has great pizza but if you are in a hurry chances are you have to wait a little. The place is very small and people tend to relax and take their time eating here. But it is worth the wait! I would recommend this place over any other pizza place. First, the atmosphere is homey, comforting and welcoming. Second, you can print coupons on-line! And lastly, it is very clean inside.

Ordered a Large McHart's Special last Friday and split it with coworkers. I was very surprised how good it was. I ordered for pick up and they were very pleasant and efficient. Pick up the pie around 12:30 to find the place EMPTY! There was just a small group eating outside and no one in the place. The inside reminded me of an old pizza place my mom took me as a kid. I can see little leaguers coming here after a game. All in all, a great pizza, on par with round table, but their ingredients are fresh and crust is superb. I would definitely go to this place again and again.. especially because of how close it is to my office! Don't forget to use the coupons online to save a few bucks!

I heart the McHart's special. I forgot my coupon at work, the guy gave me a discount anyways. Piled high, sausage, pepperoni, tomatos, onions, mushrooms, yum. I'm not a big fan of the NY thin crust, so this pizza was purrfect for me. This might be the one of best pizza I've had...I am in LoooooooVE!

Just went here today for the first time. Kind of was an interesting experience. The food is really good, was fresh and delicious. The price for everything a large pizza with different toppings and 3 sodas was like $30, not terrible but not great either. It is a somewhat small place but we were basically the only people inside the restaurant for most of the time we spent there. The waitress we had was interesting...she didn't remember what soda was regular or diet coke, she took our order but stopped us half way through so she could go in the back and get a pad to write it down, and even with no one in there she was talking (we could hear her) and some nice older guy go t us refills on our sodas. She did come back to give us the check and make a comment about another customer who kept coughing. Overall the food was good and service was not all that great. I could see them getting some TV's in there and maybe update the inside. Overall I would get the food for take out next time.

Tasty Pizza. It has a thicker crust so if you're looking for a New York style slice, this is not it. I thought the crust was cooked perfectly and the toppings were generous. This is a small place. There are 3 booths and about 10 tables. It was pretty busy when we were there. With that said, the service was great. Very friendly and accomadating. It was clean and inviting. It's located in a strip mall on Stevens Creek near Valco ( or whatever it's called these days). It's tucked back in the strip mall near Beard Papa's and Yogurtland. I would go back here for sure. Good pizza and good service with a smile!

THE BEST PIZZA!! This family owned business is located in the Marketplace Shopping Center. The owner Robert is always there making sure things run smoothly and he's really friendly. The place is cozy and clean. They use fresh ingredients and the thick crust is always crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, yum! I don't go anywhere else for pizza. JT Supreme: Delicious thick crust pizza packed with pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham salami, fresh mushrooms, black olives, red onions, bell pepper, fresh tomato. This one is my favorite! Baja Express: Yummy thick crust pizza with refried beans, mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, chorizo, ground beef, onions; after baking topped with lettuce, black olives, fresh tomato, sour cream and salsa.

What a supprise. I have seen this place maybe a 100 times in the last 3 years or so, but everytime I am in the area I am not in a pizza mood. Over the weekend a buddy came down and we decided to just mosey around to find something to eat in the area. After a few mins we decided to give J T McHart's a try. The place is a lot smaller than what was expecting, but thats okay since there was only one other group of folks in the place. It took us a few mins to figure out what we wanted but we decided to get the number 6 Cupertino's choice. The young guy taking our order went above and beyond to make sure we got everything we needed. A few mins later our pizza came out nice and hot, the toppings were stacked on pretty high but it did not fall apart like most other pizza places pies. The pizza dough held up really well, most of the other places even with really good pizza in the area well there dough seems to get soggy by the time I reach for the second slice. I would not call this the best pizza I have ever had but it is very good. I give this place such a high rating because the staff here really delivered in the service department.

I've been here twice, mostly due to the positive reviews here on Yelp. I think this pizza place is completely overrated. Comments: - Pizza here is okay, but nothing special - Service was decent - Salad bar was terrible. - Prices are kind of on the high side. I won't go back for a third time.

I usually like thin pizza, like pizza antica, that's why even I live right cross teh street, I never went to this place until now... The pizza is good, and the price is affordable. There plenty of toppings, and they are very fresh. I still love my thin pizza but I start to understand why so many people like the thicker version ...

Maybe I should have ordered a more Italian pizza, but the Baja Supreme pizza was not very good. While it did taste like a burrito, it didn't have any of the OOMPH i expect a placed like JT McHart to deliver. No one is lying about the crust though; deliciously chewy and not at all greasy! Ambience/serivce were kinda on the fritz. The inside looks very quaint and cozy. We sat in one of the booths, and the cushions were so old that we literally sank a good two inches upon sitting down. I'm also sure the bench was crooked. No one greeted up upon arrival, so we had to sit ourselves, and no one came to take our order until one of us went up to the counter and complained. We were the only ones in the restaurant too! I will give this place another try someday, and try a more traditional tomato-cheese pizza.

I like the pizza here. Classic pizza. They make the pizza a certain way that I like; crispy crust and slightly extra grease for more flavor, that is win for me. The italian sausage is 5 star.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand the super high reviews for this place. I had actually walked by once and thought "meh" but after reading the reviews, thought I should check it out. I'll stand by my original opinion. It's pretty standard, almost like picking up a DiGiorno for 4x the price. The pizza didn't have enough sauce for my liking and for the thickness of the dough so it was just bland. The waitress was also pretty out of it, but the owner came over to apologize, so I'll give them a thumbs up for service and that small business feel AND I will say that their fountain coke was the best coke I've had in a very long time. I may go back and just get a coke to go... mmmm fizzy soda.....

The Marketplace shopping center has undergone quite a lot of changes in the past 25 years. Even their anchor store, Longs Drugs, is no longer there. But one constant remains: J.T. McHart's pizza. I grew up in Cupertino, and I've been going to McHart's pretty much since they opened. Now that I live in Campbell - 8 miles away - I don't go as often, but they're still worth the drive! I am strictly plain cheese when it comes to pizza, and their cheese is heavenly! Great crust, great sauce, just delicious! (My mother rarely eats pizza, but she'll eat theirs! Heck, once I ran into my father there when we were picking up pizzas at the same time!) My boyfriend is from Chicago - so of course he grew up with amazing pizza - and he says I've gotten him "addicted" to McHart's. Their service is also terrific; the owner still says hello, addresses me by name, and asks how I'm doing and how my family is whenever I come in. I've tried pizzerias all over the Bay Area, and none of them have ever compared to McHart's. Is it nostalgia talking? Maybe a little, but nostalgia never tasted so good!

Great hidden in a strip mall pizza joint. Apparently this place has been here for a long time and I have no idea how I didn't find it when I worked in the area. Some decent outside seating and a few booths inside. They have board games, I'm assuming for the family's that probably frequent here. My Co-workers and I hit up this place and had a medium Cupertino's Choice (pepperoni, salami, sausage, linguica) and a Veggie Combo (bell pepers, olives, mushrooms, pineapple). The dough is of a decent thickness and has a good crispness to the outside and a balance of doughy on the inside. They certainly dont skimp on the toppinds here. The veggie had a salads worth of vegetables and the other felt like there was an italian deli's worth of meat on it. However there's a sufficient amount of cheese, sauce and dough to stand up to the toppings so that it's not completely over powered. The guy working in the counter was super friendly and attentive. If I think about it I'd say he was running the whole place by himself. Great little pizza find in Cupertino's vast ocean of mediocre restaurants.

am not sure what I missed...maybe this place WAS good, but surely not that great now. I ordered 2 pizza's saturday night and the girl who took my order seemed very confused about their menu. I did mention the yelp special they forgot about it when my friend picked the pizza's. The calzones were ok. If you get tired of Pizza hut etc they may seem interesting...but prefer Amici's or CPK better.

Friednly, exclelnt crust, good sauce, the making of a delicious pizza. They have not dissappointed me yet. beard Papa is right around the corner for dessert, or hit up yogurt land. Grab a seat or order togo. They have the 2 person special that comes witgh 2 salads, a medium pizza (Except #5, it has a bunch of crap on it), and 2 drinks. it is alot of pizza and if you go crazy on the salad, you'll get full. This is a small place but the toppings are fresh and the pizza comes out hot. My toppings had toppings. Love the sourdough crust too, delicious.

I don't know why I love this place so damn much. Whenever I'm with South Bay peeps I always suggest this place. The pizza is crispy-ish in a good way and I love that it smells like a legit pizza parlor as soon as you walk in. This place is a must if you're in the Cupertino area and are looking for some pizza! Don't be scared off by all the super chainy restaurants in the shopping center, this place is legit and definitely not chainy.

I came here one time with a couple of friends on a whim... we were actually at yogurtland, but the smell of pizza was so enticing, we ordered a pizza to go and ate it right outside. Nothing wrong with having dessert first, right? The owner of the restaurant actually let us order right before they were closing, so that was very nice of him. We ordered the McHart's special and there were plenty of toppings on it. I would definitely come back, especially for the owner's hospitality and their delicious pizzas. Their pizza crust is a little thicker, but I like the crust... even if it is more filling.

  • Regan C.

One of the better pizza places around Cupertino. The staff is extremely nice, but more importantly, the pizza tastes very good. We had the McHart Special and the Gardener (vegetarian), both which were crunch thick crust pizzas with a huge assortment of toppings. A large and a medium order for about $45 will be sufficient for about hungry 6 people. Did I mention, you can also print out coupons on their website for another $2 off per pizza? And like Warren W. said, its right next to Yogurtland =). + 1/2 star just for that.

I consider myself a Cupertino native after having lived in Cupertino for much of my life, but had never ventured into JT McHart's until this past Sunday. Man, I've been missing out on some pretty good pizza. I like my pizza, but don't need an IV drip of pizza sauce in order to make it through the week like my friend from NY. That guy can eat pizza every day and not get sick of it, but I digress. McHart's has some pretty darn good pizza with a nice crust... on the thick side, but soft on the inside with a nice crisp on the bottom. It was pretty good. It's not really NY style, which I tend to prefer, but it was good nonetheless. They didn't skimp on the toppings and the italian sausage was darn tasty. Washing it down with some beer was the best. Then again, what greasy food doesn't go well with beer. Mmmm... beer. Anyhow, definitely check this place out if you're in the neighborhood. Then you can stop by Yogurtland next door for some guilt free dessert and watch all the teeny boppers hanging around outside. Since when were yogurt shops popular hangouts? Man, I'm getting old. =P

  • Ivana Y.

Eh, I felt that JT McHart's pizza wasn't as mindblowing as others have made it out to be. Yes, they get major points for their fresh and tasty dough, but the topping and sauce ratio on said crust sort of made it soggy in the middle, which totally killed the experience for me. The 'people love us on Yelp' sticker out in the front was kind of cute though.

I've been coming here off and on for years. This is certainly one of the best pizza places in the South Bay. Bob the owner uses better quality ingredients than some of the other pizza places do. The prices are a little higher, but in this case you certainly get what you pay for. We generally pick the pizzas up and take them home, but on the rare occasions that we've eaten here, we've always found the service to be friendly and attentive. I would have given them 5 stars, except that the quality varies somewhat from visit to visit. No doubt that depends on 'who's cooking', but I've certainly never had a bad pizza from McHart's.

This is my family's favorite Pizza fare. We like coming to order the family special. It includes 4 salads a large pizza and a pitcher of soda. This is a great deal for the price. The salad is always very fresh. The pasta salad and potato salad are delish. The ranch dressing is outstanding. The pizza's are excellent. Sourdough crust and a variety of toppings. I usually am traditional in my pizza topping tastes, but now I'm loving garlic on my pepperoni and bacon and onion on chicken. Give it a go...great pizza.

I was craving Ramen, I ended up at a Pizza place. :/ I walked into the restaurant and noticed how tiny it is. You probably can't fit more than... 25 people inside? We ended up sitting outside. The wait staff was awesome. Extremely courteous and helpful. Definitely earned a star for that. We ordered a small McHart's special to split between two small asian guys. It was definitely enough to fill us both. The pizza however was just okay. Nothing really spectacular about it. In fact, I'd say it was a little bland. I must admit though, the veggies on the pizza were nice and crisp. Overall the experience was nice. Felt like a really family friendly place with great staff. However, pizza was just alright. I guess if you've been going there for a while, there is a bit of nostalgia attached to this place.

I live right across from here! They have decent pizza but I think it's a little over-priced. Nothing too special about this place except for the fact that it's really close to Yogurtland or Verde, which is a good place to go for dessert.

You gotta love McHarts! They serve the best pizza ever. The staff is very friendly and remembers you after you go there a few times. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very homey and comfortable. If you get bored you can always grab a chessboard and start playing chess/checkers/etc. The pizza is phenomenal; it's super savory and the crust is always perfectly baked. It's slightly on the pricey side, but it's worth every penny! I recommend the BBQ Chicken, Hawaiian, or Gardener.

Before I tried JT McHart's I never really thought I had a favorite pizza. But now I can tell you it is definitely the JT Supreme. The crust is thick and chewy (the way I like it) and the toppings are totally loaded on. There's so much on top that I have stuff fall off each slice I pick up but I don't miss them because there's still so much stuck on (and I just eat all the bits off my plate after anyway)! And even though the Supreme is my favorite I have never been disappointed with the other pizzas I've tried at McHart's (even the baja one that is such an odd pizza idea). Other pluses: * INCREDIBLY nice staff * reasonable pricing * warm, neighborhood-pizza-place feeling when dining in

Stopped by for a quick bite to eat with my bf the other day... was pleasantly surprised by the delicious options on the Menu & the laid back atmosphere inside the restaurant (looks diff from the outside). Service was great & the prices are spot on as well. I'm not a fan of deep pan pizzas, but we really enjoyed the McHart's Special (pepperoni, Italian sausage, fresh mushrooms, red onions, bell pepper and fresh tomato). We were even able to swap out toppings for alternatives. Well worth a visit!!

When you walk into a place that is this good, you expect to see a framed picture of God with his long flowing white beard holding a slice of pizza with the autograph "Best Dang Pizza...thanks!" My favorite aspect about this place: the bumps on the serving trays that keeps the pizza crust from getting soggy! Definitely going back again.

  • Mark V.

Family owned. Perfect pizza. Enough said. This place has the best pizza: perfect, crisp crust; generous on the toppings and cheese; and served to order. I love JT McHarts, and just wish that they had a location closer to Mountain View.

I decided to come here upon seeing the high approval ratings that other yelpers gave this place. Unfortunately, I do not agree with the high approval ratings. I agree that it is very overrated. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't horrible, but I don't think it deserves such high praise. We ordered a JT Supreme, but it was only average tasting. The mushrooms were very watery and the sauce was very watery also, making the pizza somewhat soggy and unappealing. The crust was quite good, I must say. The food wasn't that great, and we had to sit outside since there was no space inside. But the staff was super friendly, thumbs up to them.

hmmm..WHERE to begin.... THE PIZZA For me...pizza is ALL about toppings and in the bay area, The only two "thin slice" pizza places that I feel truly do not skimp on ingredients are Mozarella de Buffala in San Francisco and JT MCharts. BIG hunks of sausage w/overlapping slices of ham, salami and pepperoni. Big full slices of vegetables filled the rest of the pizza w/real mozarella cheese generously sprinkled over. The only difference I noticed from McHarts and Buffala was that Mcharts used slightly less sauce. However..the BENEFIT from using less sauce is that they had a perfectly uniformed unsoggy crunchy pizza crust. The slices do not bend! JT McHarts pizza has FULL, FRESH and CHUNKY ingredients..giving it a very hearty flavor. The crunch and texture of the crust compliments the big ingredients well. The PRICE is reasonable to me, considering the level of ingredients used. I pay for quality..anytime. THE AMENITIES The place is a cozy little restaurant in a strip mall... The inside has a few places to sit and eat, but also is open to the outside. THE...Ummm....Acoutriments My friends were awestruck. Two young, very slender and whispy girls took orders and brought you your pizzas... One curly haired blondish/brunette server would make you think that Jessica Alba had an "average" body. Only her and Jessica can make jeans look that good. Not many girls can look like the Jessica Rabbit cartoon character but this server is one of the rare few. Long flowing locks w/piercing greenish-blue eyes... We had a tough time concentrating on eating pizza as she was bussing a table right next to us. The best part was she was so friendly, genuine and humble. If that's not enough for you single guys...there were other whispy, very attractive girls sitting in summer shorts soaking up the sun outside. Can't really imagine a better backdrop to enjoy this fresh pizza! 4 stars for the pizza. 5 stars emphatically for the server and for the environment! We WILL be back...

Awesome pizza place. While the price seems pretty steep, but since a small pizza is enough to feed two pretty big guys, they are actually very reasonable. Plus, if you go to their website you can always print out a coupon, which also helps. And the best part is the service. The guy who owns it works there everyday and is probably the nicest man you've ever met.

From all the reviews, I expected more. But after their bbq chicken pizza, I felt it was just A-OK. The pizza had great taste, it was crusty, but overall it didn't wow me. Bump your way to their website for coupons. From the first step in, you can tell this place has been around for a long time. Reminiscent of restaurants in the 80s. They're located in the same complex as Yogurtland, BeardPapa, Elephant Bar, Wahoo Fish Taco, etc.

Great family owned pizza shop with a great staff. They are always open to accommodating even the most unusual pizza requests. They have made my family a pizza with a different topping on each quarter of the pizza. They also can do thin crust, light sauce, and no cheese. The pizza is delicious and they also have a nice little salad bar. Best of all the owner Robert is super friendly and is a Cupertino native!

We just came in here for the third or fourth time and the woman working here called us regulars. Haha!! After consuming an entire pizza again, I decided that there is no way I can take off stars from this place. The pizza is, for lack of a better term, orgasmically good. I have never eaten pizza that I am constantly raving about while eating. Like, every bite produces an "Oh God!!" See, like I said... Orgasmic!!!

I would give this place 6 stars or more if I could. This is the hidden gem of pizza in the Bay Area. they are the only place I know of that makes a true, CALIFORNIA pizza--SOURDOUGH CRUST! No place else makes a pizza as fresh, with a soft crust that you want to eat and not use as a stick to throw away. All their toppings are fresh, dough made fresh daily,, and you can watch the pizza be hand tossed. I can't think of any place that does that these days. I love this place and have been coming here for years. because of the food and great staff. They do great customer service & quick order turn around More people need to try this place out & they can appreciate what people should be--at it's best.

Came here last night with a few friends. Nice little atmosphere and our server was very polite and kind which is always a plus. Got 1/2 chicken delight and the other 1/2 was the gardener. I must say the gardener was much better than the chicken delight. I will be back to try the Baja Express...it sounded so delicious but thats the one pizza where they cant split it.

i've never personally came here to dine or take out, only snatched a slice or two or three from other people who have and IT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD! mm.. get the McHart's special with pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, red onions, bell peppers and tomatoes... so good.. but don't eat so much so you won't get heart burn... & ask for ranch dressing ;)

4.5 stars! I came here with two friends of mine for lunch. We ordered a small McHart's Special. It came with about six slices and boy was it worth it. The pizza was thick and loaded with toppings. I personally asked for extra garlic and piled it on my slice :) Also, they have a wonderful pesto sauce which you can order on the side, it's a must have! Can't wait to come back and experiment with the rest of their offerings.

I like the pizza a lot - the pizza has a nice crisp bottom and the toppings are really fresh. They really pile on the toppings though, especially the mushrooms on the J.T. Supreme - so much so that sometimes it can be difficult to get your slice and eat it. I only wish they had more variety with their pizza. Like 80% of the options are variations on the same toppings (like it's the same as some other pizza but without X topping), and the rest of them (the chicken ones, the crazy Mexican one, and the veggie one) just don't sound very appealing. I'm just too lazy to create my own... Front door doesn't close all the way and we had to sit near the door - the cold breeze was kind of a turn-off....

This place has the yummiest pizza dough ever. This is my go to place for a pizza fix :)

I love their pizza! it's not thin crust or Chicago style but regular pizza done right. For thin crust go to Cicero's, but for a hearty pizza with delicious crust go to JT McHart's. They also serve up a decent salad bar and have a good selection of beers on tap. It's also cheap, so what's not to like?

DELICIOUS non-greasy pizza with mile-high, ultra-fresh toppings and a still cheesey crispy thick (or thinner, if requested) sourdough crust. The owners are the NICEST people ever. Definitely THE institution in Cupertino - this place has been around for 22 years (since 1986). I'm surprised that not a lot of people know about it! I also think it's very nice of the owners to put coupons on their website - $2.50 discount each time you eat there. I also usually call in ahead of time and place my order, then drive over so my pizza's ready right when I get there. Definitely my favorite pizza joint!

The pizza is amazing...very fresh and delicious! They also have a small salad bar which is decent. They have a pretty good selection and variety of pizzas. The only downfall is the service...

This place is pretty cool, nice chill pizza place. Had the calzones. Good stuff, who can't enjoy a good calzone now and then? The best thing about this place is that it's RIGHT NEXT TO YOGURTLAND! yea. there's your 1-2 combo there fellas. Bring your girl, get pizza, go get dessert next door. haha, its cool.

I was sick and tired of chain pizza and was looking for something special. Ever since I discovered JT McHart's, there is no other pizza place. I usually leave the crust behind, but this crust is the best I've ever eaten. The cheese is so flavorful. They have a wide variety of really unique toppings and some great specialty pizzas. My personal favorite is the BLT. Its a friendly environment and has a local feel that is sometimes hard to find in the bay area. They also cook their pizzas to perfection. I've never had a pizza from there that was underdone or cold.

I don't understand... did I go to the wrong place? I see a bunch of 4 or 5 stars for this place, but all I tasted was nothing better than Round Table's here. It's not terrible pizza, but I have nothing really that great to write about for this place. My coworkers and I decided to check this out for lunch and we all just got the typical lunch special: a slice of pizza and salad for $7. I ended up getting a Combination Pizza and they bring over a tray of pizza and allow you to choose which slice you want, which I did like. For the salad, they had a mini salad bar with your common green salad ingredients and it was a satisfying salad. So much so, that I think I may have enjoyed that more than my pizza. The pizza wasn't short on toppings by any means and in fact it was overloaded with toppings that it was spilling out a bit. From the looks of it, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong, but once I bit into it, it just tasted like a pizza that's been sitting around for hours. It was only warm and a bit soggy and it just kept reminding me of Round Table's pizza that we order at work when we we're in the office during OT. With such great reviews for this place, I was highly disappointed with the pizza here. Maybe the real way to go is to order a large pizza of their special to take home for dinner, but it's definitely not a good place for lunch. If you really want a good pizza, go down Miller St until you run into Cicero's.

Call it crazy but at 8:30 pm, I decided to drive from Palo Alto to Cupertino, in the rain, just to try a new pizza place. Thank goodness this place was not that hard to find with all the store landmarks mentioned on previous Yelp reviews. The place was closing and pizzas were being made for take-out only but upon hearing that we drove all the way down from Palo Alto for pizza, the friendly owner gave us free drinks and let us sit in for our meal. Pizza was very good. The crust was great, thick but crispy. The crust is a big part of the pizza's appeal and eating it as soon as possible (i.e., in the restaurant) is ideal. The pizza was loaded with mushrooms, sausage, pepperoni, fresh cut tomatoes and more. I am particular about my sausage topping and this was very good. The only recommendation I would have is slightly more cheese and I prefer my vegetable toppings to be more cooked- and I am sure they can accommodate such requests. The best part was hanging out with the owner as he delighted us with stories about how he first heard about the restaurant and got into the business many many years ago. A wonderfully friendly family-owned business with a lot of local appeal. You certainly will be seeing me back!

Such a quiet place, such a nice place to take a break from work. I use to love (and crave!) their pizza. But over the past months the pizza hasn't been as great as it use to be. I am bummed. Their slice and salad deal is such a good one!

A good go-to pizza place when we need a break from Cicero's down the street. The pizza can be a little more pricey than other pizza joints, but it's well worth it. I personally like the Chicken pizza.

I love pizzas that are all about the bread, and a thick doughy crust; JT Mcharts got it. I think I've tried everything on the menu. I typically order take out. At other places, I usually order all meat pizzas, or pizzas with everything, my favorite toppings are olives. My personal favorites at JT Mcharts are Cupertino's Choice, and Blanche's Favorite. All their pizzas are pretty good overall. The Baja Express I have to be in the mood for, it's like a burrito without rice on a good sourdough. The Gardener I wouldn't recommend for ordering take out, the vegetables make the dough a little soggy and the bread is my favorite part of the pizza. __________________________________________________________________ I don't want to change what I've already said about this place but I definitely am no longer in love. I used to live in Cupertino. I'd order and pick up a pizza every other week, I did this for about 3 years. I know the owners name, he has no idea who I am. I try to order from here if I'm doing something company related and if its close enough. Unfortunately, this place won't work with you. I asked if they could deliver pizza to my company. They cannot always deliver, it's sporadic. And they cannot look up directions. This boggles my mind a little bit. It's 2014, and no one that works there has a smartphone they can look up directions on? Just a heads up if you want to place a delivery order, be prepared to spend about 30 minutes on the phone, so you can give the person directions. They will not tell you right away if they cannot deliver. It takes a lot for me to change a review from 4 stars to 1. But honestly, get to know your customers. I sat there and listened to owner talk about how the face of the town has really changed, in the demographics, culture. It makes me sad that despite this place having really great pizza, the service is not great. It took me 15 minutes to place the same order at Pizza My Heart that took JT McHarts 3 hours to say they're not comfortable delivering.

I normally don't try new places to eat too often, so for me to be curious about J T McHart's Pizza means it must be good! Before I wouldn't even bother looking at it because it looked like another hole in the wall place. But I gave it a chance and now I regret all the times that I drove around aimlessly looking for something to eat! This place is great! The food is great. The service is super. And did I mention the food is great?? It's nothing like Round Table or Little Cesars. The pizza is THICK with a little bit of crunch on the bottom. They load on the toppings, you know.. like when you pull out a slice and a whole bunch of cheese and toppings follow it? It's like that! I think I always get the first one on the pizza menu. I'll leave it a surprise so you can go there and look for yourself to see what's first on the list *wink*

Best pizza in Cupertino! A medium cheese is also more than enough for two people, very filling and delicious.

Definitely lived up to the ratings! Thin crust was baked perfectly, tasty sauce & loads of fresh toppings. Owner even came out to check on me towards the end of my dinner. Would definitely try again when in the area.

Deep dish-ish delights. Went there a couple nights ago and ordered 2 pies\ 1) The Gardener - all vege. and I added architokes to the array of vegetation. The combination of flavors is clean, light, and satisfying. 2) Jeff Spicoli Fast Times Special - double cheese, double sausage (this isn't on the menu, but it was in the movie) Overall, beats the chain pizza places to a pulp. The owners are friendly and do their best to get you on your way ...with time to spare.

After losing a game of scrabble, I decided to take my girlfriend out for dinner. Strangely enough, we were both craving pizza and this place was the first place that came into mind. I'm a big fan of yogurt and being that it's right next to the Yogurtland, I've always been curious about the food and atmosphere. It was then I decided to go to this place for dinner. As usual, I punched in the name into yelp and the 20% off promotion immediately caught my eye. "Business is bad," was the first thought that came to mind. The atmosphere inside is very home-y. Despite the fact that there were several other people dining, I felt as if I was eating at home in pajamas. I felt very comfortable and was able to carry out a nice conversation without being distracted. The waitress then came over to take our order, her smile and great attitude really stood out to me. I ordered the two person special with the medium pizza, two drinks, and salad. As I ordered, the 20% promo was still lingering in my head therefore, I wasn't expecting much...But those thoughts soon vanished as a friendly elderly man came to our table and served the pizza. He informed us that we could have as much salad as we wanted after he served the monster of a pizza. I had upgraded to a large pizza instead of a medium due to the fact that my expectations were low...As the fresh pizza was served, it was a slap to the face. I was smiling to myself as i took a slice and began to eat. The elderly man asked very politely if he could refill our drinks. So politely in fact, that I was caught off guard and stumbled for words as i gave him my cup. The pizza was delicious, that's all I have to say. Everything about it was so fresh and you could tell by the color of the ingredients and the taste of freshness that explodes in your mouth as you take a bite. As we were finishing up, the check came as I was resting from all the delicious food I had just consumed. The total came out to be about 28 dollars. Pretty damn good considering the fact that there were about 8 huge slices left. I don't think I'll ever be able to stomach Little Caesars or Pizza Hut after yesterday.

Happily assigning 5 star rating to JT McHart's, as a "Old School Thick Slice" type of Pizza. Thick & tasty!! I've been going off an on since the early 1990's when I used to work down the street during my college days. Would get some slices or a slice and salad for lunch, their pizzas are substantial and tasty! These days if I'm going to sacrifice calories & sat fat for pizza, it better be worth it!! JT McHart's is worth it! JT McHart's reminds me of the OG type of pizza that was served back in the day, at Shakey's Pizza or Stuft Pizza back in the late 70's & 80's. Took down many a slice during year end Soccer Parties as a kid (GEN-X). McHart's is generous with toppings; expect olives, mushrooms and sausage to fall off the JT Supreme because it's piled high w/toppings and, that's not necessarily a bad thing ;) For all you folks that want a thin slice (NY style) that you can fold in half, know that JT McHart's isn't that. What JT McHart's is, is a solid throwback pizza place that makes me happy every time I eat there!

  • Lisa C.

I like that their pizzas are filled with toppings. I would not want a bread dough for pizza though, because the crust is too dry. However, people who like non-greasy may like it. Their crust is even thicker than Pizza Hut's. I personally, much prefer Pizza Hut's pan pizza crust over the crust here -- crispy (not just crunchy) in a lubricated way.

Say hello to JT McHart's double Pepperoni. Now wipe your mouth and go order your own. The pizza was delicious and the service was fantastic!! Both crispy crunch and no grease, in their thick dough. We dined in Sunday evening and loved the atmosphere. There's chess and crayons if you need some distraction while you wait, but the pizza didn't take -that- long to cook. Salad bag was very good and offered many choices! My favorite part of the experience was we were treated as if we were regulars and the staff was extremely friendly!

So I am pretty tired of the thin crust NY style pizza movement going on around the Bay Area. I am craving some REAL GOOD THICK 'N FLUFFY CRUST. None of that low fat thin as a cracker pizza, nuh uh. Usually I have to resort to Pizza Hut for some crust on my pizza because I hate disappointing expensive pizza from places that just taste like fastfood anyway. BUT JT's pizza DID NOT DISAPPOINT! It was in fact super ON POINT. It was so good that I was tempted to devour the entire small pizza myself, but had to leave some for the bf of course (as he stared dumbfounded at how quickly I inhaled my slices). Even the service is on point - the friendly guy at the counter took my order by phone and happily greeted us upon walking in, made small talk about our day and even suggested hiking spots around the area since that's what we were planning to do! It was a nice day outside so we sat out on the benches outside to have our pizza. Back to the food: We got the all meat pizza and boy was it loaded with good meat. All the meats tasted great, and not all the same, and I particularly loved their sausage. There's a lot of baaaad sausage on some pizzas (funny tasting...too herby...or just dry and shriveled) and this place had some of the best sausage I've ever had on a pizza. I was about to pick them babies off and pop them in one by one. The crust...ohhhh...the crust. Thank the good Lord in Heaven that there is still a great pizza place that RESPECTS THE CRUST. Fluffy and thick - that's how I like it. Crispy and cheesy at the top and just slightly covered with cheese and sauce for some flavor. Man oh man. This is now my go-to pizza place. Forget Pizza Hut, forget the thin crust shops. You know pizza is good when you want to go back the next day right away. I'm currently craving them as I write this review, even. Time to plan a trip here for my next cheat day.

Posted hours are until 10pm, their menu notes that dine in ends 30 minutes before closing. It's 855pm; we drive all the way down to dine in, but there is a handwritten note on the door that their dine in is already closed. Very disappointing! Call first if you want dine in!

Maybe I need to eat at the restaurant to understand the hype? We drove pretty far to try JT McHart's pizza since we wanted to try something new in the pizza world. Overall, I was disappointed. My least favorite smell/taste is the disgustingness of onions that have been cut and sitting out for a while. I think it's so gross and that it empowers the rest of the food. The pizza had this gross smell/taste. Maybe that's what ruined it for me. Would I come back? Sadly, no.

Had a craving for pizza, but wanted to try a local spot since I'm getting pretty sick of all the pizza chain options. Ok, work does routinely order from 4th Street Pizza in San Jose, but let's be real it's alright at best. Called in for a half BBQ Chicken/half Chicken Delight to take home. The most noticeable thing off the bat is that they do not skimp on the toppings whatsoever! Every bite had the right amount of toppings and cheese, it was great to not have to taste mostly sauce on every bite. Another awesome thing was that the pizza dough didn't collapse under the weight of the toppings, which as any pizza eater knows is a huge pain in the ass. And the crust is absolute perfection! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Being a local spot, I expected prices to be higher than a chain store. But hell, if the quality is there, I'll pay extra for it for sure. Will be back!

What friendly service! I came here with my college roommate to try their pizza. We were greeted and told to sit anywhere we wanted. The man who helped us very very friendly and gave us many helpful suggestions when it came to ordering. We ordered a small McHart Special with no onions and a special calzone. The pizza was topped with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, peppers, and tomatoes. The crust is soft and crunchy at the same time but it did not get soggy. There was plenty of food and we got out leftovers wrapped to go. The sauce and the toppings tasted fresh and the calzone was not dry and full of flavor. The 25% off check in on Mondays and Tuesdays was a very nice surprise when I checked in! The service was really great, the food tasty and for that I will definitely come back again.

Great pizza place in Cupertino! I came here with a friend who used to come here at least once a week...so he was very familar with the place. We ordered a large combo pizza: half JT Supreme and Half McHart's Special. Both types were packed with toppings and mushrooms (which I love). The crust was also really delicious! I usually don't eat the crust but here it was definitely part of the experience. Also super friendly people and nice homey environment!

I was in the area recently to see a movie and I was craving me some pizza. I yelped the area and came across this place. The first thing that impressed me was that the moment that I walked through the door we were treated like family. The owner told us hello and told us to sit where ever we wanted. Our waitress was out right away to take drink orders and help us, Before I end the service part of the review, I can not stress enough how nice and helpful our waitress was. The owner even can to our table to ask if we needed more drinks. As for the food. It was good. We got a medium pizza and salads. I really enjoyed the pizza, especially all of the meat toppings, they all tasted fresh. I do have to admit that I am not a fan of thick crust and this appears to be their style. While it does not make it a bad pizza, it just wasn't my taste preference so I feel I should mention this for others that might not like thick crust. Good pizza joints are hard to find, but if you are even in the area, you have to stop and try this place.

the perfect pizza and highlight of our week last week. I think the older gentleman who helped us is the owner. Would I come back - Yes. Would I recommend - Yes. Pizza - 4.0 1 medium McHart's Special. Additional topping, jalepeno on half and pineapple on the other half. Service - 5 (yes - 5) Ambiance - a smaller pizza spot that has a old school feel (in a good way). The pizza is pretty good. I like how they thinly slice all the veggie toppings. Just the right balance of cheese and toppings. The best part of the pizza is the crust. Nice and crispy with a doughy middle. There are not to many pizza spots that have this type of crust, really special in the pizza game. Service - I called on a Saturday afternoon to place an order for dine in. The gentleman on the phone said it would be okay but during Friday, Saturday nights and most other days it is not possible to call a dine in, in advance. Reason being it is a smaller place. Upon arrival there were 2 people in front of me but the person behind the counter was waiving at me to sit down. Kind of odd.... Turns out he somehow knew I was the one that called in advance! Amazing! After sitting down he promptly provided the pie and asked us what would like to drink. Very nice folks, quality product and looking forward to coming back.

We've lived in the Bay Area for about nine years now and pretty much had given up hope on finding a decent pizza joint...until we found JT McHart's. First off, the pizza. The crust is crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside and just absolutely perfect. The sauce was sweet and had a ton of flavor and the toppings, oh the toppings! They are very generous with them and the sausage was out of this world delicious. This is the kind of pizza place you visit every Friday night with your family. Friendly service (we were waited on by the owner, who was super sweet), cozy ambiance, and just all around wonderful experience. JT McHart's, you've found yourselves some new regulars.

Was a YELP recommendation, so we thought we'd give it a shot. We used their Check in deal and received 20% off our order! Everyone enjoyed the pizza! We got the Meat Lovers, Pepperoni and BBQ chicken! Meat Lovers was devoured. Service was great and fast! Definitely going back!

Friendly staff and nice selection of pizza and decent salad bar. Their thick crust and toppings are much more easy to frequently consume than oilier or saltier pizzas from other places. I usually eat mostly potato salad, which tastes good. For the price and location, it's a good deal and a place I often bring friends for food.

Excellent quality pizza with layers of toppings as thick as the crust! Ordered their large combination pizza - 1/2 J.T supreme and 1/2 BBQ chicken for take out. The pie took a long time to come out (~30 mins) but since they are located in a nice shopping plaza (next to Daiso and Marukai) we did some store browsing while waiting for our pizza. Besides the waiting time, the pizza does live up to the hype... It tastes amazing! Thick, chewy crust with plenty of fresh toppings. Between the T.J supreme and BBQ chicken, the T.J supreme wins hands down. The BBQ chicken was just a weird combo for me; I thought the BBQ sauce on the pizza just made it taste soggy. Overall, I'm quite happy with their pizza. Decently priced and great service, would definitely be a loyal customer.

Ok i have to say this guys know how to make pizza!! Defiantly first place to choose when talking about pizza at work since every loves this place, not to far from me about a 5 min drive , They usually take about 20 mins to make your pizza . They have many different options between meat and veggie pizzas

Places like this make me weep for California. I don't care how the staff treats customers, or how nice the restaurant itself is. If the food is crap, the rating I give is likewise sure to be crap. This stuff is plagued by the two most common pitfalls of pizza in California: the oven is too cold, and the pies are suffocated by needless quantities of toppings. The pizzas aren't even kept in long enough to really cook the toppings (though, if it would be done right in the first place, it wouldn't need long at all). Sure, you can ask for it well-done... if you like it burnt and crunchy. Veggies, for example, are supposed to be tender and wilted, with any bits caught sticking out getting charred. It's supposed to taste fire-roasted. Here's they're not only not scalding hot, they even retain a small amount of raw crunch. Pepperoni and salami are supposed to be torched into delicious greasy cups of awesome. Here, they're barely even rendered down, and the pepperoni sure as hell ain't cupped. And the cheese... the cheese is a sad, ropey pile of gross. Don't even get me started on the crust. I cannot fathom how a place like this gets such high marks.

5 stars for Sourdough pizza It is difficult to find pizza with all the right combinations: lightly crispy dough outside with soft warm tenderness inside and must be fully cooked generous toppings, little grease stringy cheese light sauce to keep things moist, not overwhelming When you can do it right, people will ask for more. Thank you for quality pizza.

My cousin told me about this place so I decided to give it a try. Well, he was dead-on with his assessment. The crust is thick, but that's necessary to hold the mountain of toppings they put on each pizza. They use fresh toppings that compliment the pizza's perfectly. Each pizza is cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and friendly. I will no doubt be back soon to enjoy the various menu options.

Coming from Chicago originally, I feel there is a real lack of real pizza places in the area - Pizza My Heart feels generic, although I do really like a "Slice of NY" .. but *this* gem, J T McHeart's Pizza, was a real find for me. They make their own sourdough crust and pizza sauce which I think was top notch for sure. Plus, the service was polite and friendly as well -- we'll definitely be back again soon!!

Before I start my review I want to say that I am a HUGE person on customer service. Upon walking in we were asked to have a seat (since we were dining in) a few minutes later an older gentleman came and asked if we were ready to order, we told him we were still looking. I checked out another review and asked him about the breadsticks, he said they can make them, but they fill people up and he wants them to enjoy the pizza. A few minutes later he came back and we ordered half pepperoni and half #7, he said he would throw in a few breadsticks with our order. There food comes out and it was DELICIOUS!! The pizza was the right amount of cheesy, the dough wasn't too raw and not too crunchy and the crust was just right. I could go on and in about this place, but if you haven't checked it out yet, definitely go. Turns out the person that was coming to our table was the owner, I liked his service, old fashioned. Will be returning in the very near future.

JTM gets so much right. Wonderful, non-soggy, non-greasy crust, ample toppings, not watery, ahhhhhh..... : - ) The place is right out of my 60's childhood. Booths! Mozzarella that smells and tastes like good quality motz; fresh tomatoes on top. Good, flavorful meets. They gave us two discounts and we got out of there for about $10 less than had we gone to a chain elsewhere. Wifi is available for addicts who need it. Bravo! Family-owned, very friendly people. Christie is apparently a daughter and is a wonderful waitress. Thanks for refreshing my memories of really good pizza. Wow. Wow. Wow.

So sad. We were going to try this out as a new regular. Menu looked good, but when we walked in the door they were locking up. It was before 8:30PM on a Wednesday. The guy said we could order pizza, but only for take-out. Online it says open until 9PM. So we left. Ended up going to Pizz'a Chicago, who didn't throw us out before we were ready to leave.

First time here at JT McHart's Pizza Restaurant. I've been wanting to try this place out after reading all the positive reviews on Yelp. I ordered a large Supreme with anchovies and half and half large of the Hawaiian and The Gardner. I had the Supreme with a regular crust and Hawaiian/Gardner on a thin crust. The Supreme was pretty good! It had plenty of toppings. The crust held up well to all the moisture. It was not soggy at all! The crust was thicker than what I'm accustomed to, but it was still good. The pizza was close to an inch and a half thick. i did not get a chance to have any of the thin crust so I'm not able to comment on that. The Supreme was an overall good pizza, but the extra thick crust was not my cup of tea. Since I live all the way across town from here, the chances of me making a special trip just to get pizza from here is slim to none. However, if I'm in the area and craving a pizza, I'll definitely consider this as an option. So far, of all the pizza joints that I've tried, High Five Pizza still is on the top of my list!

Good Pizza! Amazing? Not really. Salad is overpriced. Actually the pizza is pretty pricey too!

Yes, the pizza is as good as the overall 4.5+ star review implies. I heard they have thin crust (gotta try it) but the regular crust is a really good dough, too. The red sauce here is AMAZING, and turns any lunch break into a great lunch break. They are usually nearly empty on weekdays during lunch, so it's pretty easy to split a large pizza between 3 decently hungry people without waiting very long. Our favorite is the Cupertino's Choice with bacon instead of ham... because bacon.

I've been going here since I was a kid. This was our location for family pizza night. The owner is such a great family man. Even though I've moved further away from the area, I still try to make it in for pizza with the family whenever possible. The pizza is top notch. Fresh everything, great combinations, decent pricing, and a cozy atmosphere. I love to do their "For Four" deal, which includes a large pizza, salads, and sodas. This will always be one of my favorite places to eat.

Love it. I recommend coming in early and ordering by the slice. The slices are nicely sized and are really good. If they sold by the slice all day I would pop in a lot more often. It is also well located so after your done eating there are plenty of places for desert.

Checked out this place after seeing they had the highest rated review in the area for pizza. The service was good and the ingredients seemed fine, but the taste was a little off (we ordered J T Supreme and McHart's Special). The crust was a little too hard and dry, and the sauce lacked flavor. And there wasn't enough cheese...this is coming from someone who doesn't like too much cheese. In my opinion, I'd rather have Round Table pizza. So I'm a bit surprised that they're still getting many good reviews! Well, good for them!

Too pricey. Not value for money. Would prefer Cicero's to this place. First time there and not sure I will go back here.

Great tasty pizza, nice mildly zesty sauce. Tried half the mcHart's special plus red onion and half pepperoni , medium size. Was perfect for my 11 and 7 year old and me.

Came here to get a quick pizza for dinner this past weekend. We called in our order and were quoted a pick up time of 10-15 minutes. The pizza here appears to be of the pan pizza-type...kind of like Pizza Hut, but much better. The crust is substantial and thick, and the pizza is very generously topped. If you like pan pizza, you'll probably enjoy this. Price is about par for the course for this kind of pizza. Service was friendly. Our pizza was ready for pickup in the quoted time. I would come back again if in the area and wanting some pizza.

I have tried about 5 pizza places in Cupertino, and I have to say that this was the worst. The dough is too thick, cooked outside but not inside. Too much cheese and the the tomato sauce is too acid. Really bad. Hope they work to improve it.

Food - Pizza is good. The pepperoni is delicious and the toppings are fresh. A large portion is sufficient for three. Ambience - Simple American diner setting. Service - Really nice folks. Very friendly and patient. Cost - ~10$ per person with a beer.

Delicious pizza! The crust and toppings were excellent and it was fun to be able to watch the staff making the pizza. Because a mistake had been made on an order for another table we were given a medium pizza for the price of a small. We were very pleased with our dinner and if we lived locally we would definitely return.

What a great pizza joint! I'm so glad my co-worker and I decided to go here before our movie (thank you yelp ). We ordered a medium half JT Supreme & Chicken Delight. It took awhile for it to come out, but it was worth the wait! The pizza was COVERED in toppings. You couldn't even see the cheese layer. I was salivating while snapping some pictures for yelp. First bite, and it was goooood. My co-worker was telling me something and I stopped her mid-story to tell her to bite into her slice first. The ingredients/toppings were so fresh, and they were so generous! The pizza itself was warm, and doughy, not too thick and bready, and the crust was crispy. All these textures co-mingling in my mouth, I was hooked. I was a bit worried about the chicken delight pizza... ranch sauce on a pizza sounds scrumptious, but I've had experiences when the ranch and creaminess was overwhelming... nope, not in this case. Balanced perfection. Service was so warm and friendly, you can't help but smile! We were checked on multiple times, and I believe it was Mr. McHart himself that was walking around, checking up on water refills. Total came out to be ~$12 per person for a medium pizza which may be a little pricey if you're into $5 little caesar's pizza.. but when you see the toppings, and bite into that crust, you'll think it's worth it too! Such a shame this is the only one and is in Cupertino, but perhaps this is a good thing for my wallet. Definitely recommend this place for some goooood pie.

Takeout Pizza Monday afternoon Pizza Pros Excellent quality toppings. Cons Way too much crust. After the first slice, I had to eat toppings only from then on. I don't know if they have thin-crust available, but if they do, thin crust is a must. Crust absorbs too much water from the toppings and becomes soggy quickly. Maybe its from the fresh tomatoes, but JT needs to find a remedy so the pizza doesn't get soggy! Service The guy who made my pizza is very friendly and was helpful. A plus for service. Conclusion A decent pizza joint for locals.

This is family owned place that serves fresh delicious pizza. They use sour dough as base and it does taste different - read good different. The owner is very nice and your experience of ordering and waiting is very personable. It's a small place but it feels earthy and homey. Your experience would be very different than those chain pizza stores.i would feel even better if they had a better salad bar. Lot of stuff is from Costco which is nice but I have it home so it feels like homemade salad which is good in away but also I am looking for more variety when i order from outside.

Yelped pizza places and this place came up and sounded promising! It totally was! Delicious thick fluffy crust. We ordered just plain pepperoni and it was so good. Very filling after two pieces and was covered in tons of pepperoni. I believe the owner served us and he was very nice. I would go back when I'm ready to indulge in high calorie pizza:)

The pizza quality is not bad. Service is below minimum. We went inside the door, the waitress was busy about herself and didn't see us for a minute or 2. The man behind the counter finally said hi after serving a take out order. He then asked whether we are ready for making the order and motioned us to go to the counter. We were asked to pay at the counter right after ordering and my husband carried the pitcher of drink back to the table by himself. The experience is bizarre as we ordered a pitcher of drink. It's obvious we're doing sit down instead of a take out. All the customers coming behind us got their orders from the table. Instead of the friendly and family environment I read from other reviews, I felt their service is cold and standoffish.

So good! Haven't been here in years since I had moved away from the area but Wow! It was just as yummy as I remembered. The customer service was great too! Lucky I happened to end up in the center and saw it. Now that I found it again, I will be back soon.

I was at Yogurtland the other night with my family and noticed a Pizza place next door. It smelled great so I walked in to get a menu. The owner thanked me just for getting a menu, so I decided to try this place as soon as possible. Well, today we got a split pizza. Half pepperoni with mushrooms, and the other half pest with chicken, bacon, and red onions. This was one great Pie! The owner remembered me getting the menu from a few nights ago, asked me where I lived, and thanked me for coming back. Well, I am coming back! I want to try all their pies now. Highly recommended!

Tips: They do not sell slices on the weekends, can only order full pizzas. (can do half-half) ~$24 for a large (serves 4 people) ~$20 for a medium (serves 3 people) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This place definitely seems like a family owned business. Very quiet on the weekends with no waiting staff on the weekends, but that doesn't deter from the pizza. I got a half "The Gardener" (vegetarian pizza) and "BBQ Chicken" pizza. I thought both were very good. The crust is very crunchy and I really like the pizza dough and nicely melted cheese. I'd recommend coming here for the pizza.

Plain and simple: the best pizza in Cupertino and one of the best pizzas I've ever had. I order 90% of my catered lunch meetings from here and everyone always loves it. I normally don't like thick crust pizza, but TJ's amazing thick, moist and crispy pie makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Toppings are not just "fresh" like many people have pointed out, they are the FRESHEST. Absolutely delicious. If you're in Cupertino and you're hungry for some Yum, head over to TJ's, you won't regret it.

What a treat! I enjoyed watching my pizza dough being stretched and tossed by hand. I ordered half Hawaiian and half veggie. The toppings were piled high, the sauce and the perfect amount of zest, and the crust was fluffy and perfectly chewy. Delicious pizzas, great prices, and friendly staff. Can't ask for much more than that.

I love this place. It is one of my favorite pizza places. I love how I can be FULL off 2-3 slices because they are hardy pizzas with fresh ingredients. I have never had a bad experience here. Everyone is super nice. I have not had their thin crust pizza yet. Their original crust is thick, but it is really good and always cooked perfectly.

Super friendly service, but I don't get all the positive reviews. The food is tasty enough, but not what I would call pizza. Barely any sauce, and a way too dense crust. I'm new to the area, so maybe this is the best it has to offer, but I'm not impressed.

I can't really complain about this place. Great pizza, great staff. It's in the same plaza as the restaurant I work at, and I love that I can go here for an amazing slice of pizza for lunch, even if it's just cheese. The last time I went, I just missed the lunch special, so I ordered a small cheese pizza to myself. It was ready in just about 10 min and I had time to make a trip to Marukai to pick up a few groceries. I ate half the pizza before I started my shift again, and I was really sad to see that the box was half empty since it was so good! They use some really good cheese, I must say.

McHart's Pizza is very underrated and is overshadowed by other pizza places in Cupertino. The pizza is like really good and if you love thick fluffy crusts then this is the place to go000oo0oooo000o! They put a lot of toppings but the toppings are waaaaay too good for a person to take off. The pizza is actually pretty great and if you're in the area hungry, this place is the place to go if you don't mind spending some extrs bucks. The place is kind of expensive :(, but they have 25% off every monday and tuesday!!! YAYAYAYAYA WOOHOOO :D.

This place is like an oasis of traditional "American" food in an otherwise wonderfully international strip mall. Yeah, I know that pizza isn't originally American, but it is definitely mainstream as can be evidenced by the fact that there are many uniquely American pizza chains. I think you get my point. Anyways, I've been coming to this mall for various food cravings for the past several years, but only tried the pizza for the first time about 2 years ago. I couldn't believe that I had walked past this place so many times without giving it a second thought, because they make a really good pizza here. The sauce is just the right combination of sweet and salty, though these cheese does tend to be on the saltier side. Dough is soft but holds up well under the weight of the ingredients on top. Toppings are generous and prices are reasonable given the fact that this is non-chain pizza. Service has been generally efficient but not super-friendly, but that doesn't bug me at all.

This place serves a great pizza. It's not a thin pizza, but the dough is really good. The ingredients are always really fresh and the service is always good. It's a smaller privately owned place I believe and the owner is always really nice. They definitely want to keep their customers happy and the food definitely makes you want to come back. The McHart's Special is a great pizza, we usually add black olives with it and it's perfect. Would highly recommend this place for a good pizza with very fresh ingredients and good service.

Went on a Saturday 4:30 pm, place was empty, so we were a little concerned, however people started trickling in right after. Hostess/waitress extended great service with friendly greeting & seating, prompt with menus & taking drink orders, good recommendations on food, and throughout the meal she continually checked in on us at appropriate intervals refreshing drinks, etc. we had the McHart's Special medium which was perfect to feed two. The pizza was very good all the way around, crust, sauce and toppings, very fresh and tasty. Will definitely return.

This place is awesome. It is a bit pricey for pizza; however, it's delicious. I recommend the garlic chicken pizza. From the creamy base sauce to the garlic and onions to the chicken -- it's a great combination that leaves you feeling satisfied. The restaurant is on the smaller side but is still able to fit many parties. I've come here once with a party of 10, and we still had plenty of space.

J T McHart's Pizza Restaurant has the edge over many pizza chains in that their specialty pizzas have a more unique, homely taste. The pizza comes out fairly quickly, tastes amazingly delicious, and the elderly man at the storefront is very friendly and patient. However, if you're looking for something simple such as a standard pepperoni & cheese or ham & pineapple, J T McHart's runs a little on the pricey side. To put things in perspective, my small (half pepperoni, half ham & pineapple) pizza cost me $13.25+tax at J T McHart's, but costs only $11.00+tax at the nearby Mountain Mike's. Conclusion: if I want a simple pizza, I'll hit up Mountain Mikes. But if I want a more specialized pizza, J T McHart's is the place for me.

This is my favorite Pizza place ever. It reminds me of my childhood (since it's near where I grew up). I only have had good experiences here. I have them on speed dial. The pizza's ingredients are divine. I feel like I am eating fresh veggies and meats every time, and they LOAD it up with everything. Never have I felt that they skimped on a topping, which is very rare I have found. My mouth is watering just thinking about this pizza!! I have ordered a multitude of pizzas here, but I recommend the Gardener, the JT Special, or even just making your own. I used to be a picky-pants so I would always order something my way (usually pepperoni, sausage, and fresh tomatoes put on AFTER it comes out of the oven, with little sauce). SO GOOD. I could go on forever about how wonderful the pizza tastes and how happy it makes me just thinking about eating there. The staff is also wonderful! They are so nice and helpful, really homey. They seem to actually care about the customer instead of trying to rush you out so that they can get a tip. The owner is SO awesome too. I came in a while ago to pick up a pizza that I had ordered to-go, and was a bit early so I was just sitting around. He noticed, and he offered me a salad to eat while I waited, FOR FREE. Well that just warmed the cockles of my heart. Of course he wouldn't let me pay for it, which is just so sweet. Seriously offering me free food no matter how big or small is seriously my favorite. A warning to those penny pinchers out there who will complain about "overpriced" items. This place (being SO MUCH better than pizza hut or dominos etc...) is priced higher than those places. Don't go in there expecting a $10 pizza. The pricing is TOTALLY worth it since the food is just so dang good.

I was born and raised in the Bay Area, so I will try to describe the pizza here objectively rather than vouch for authenticity. I ordered a J. T. Supreme and a McHart's special over the phone to go on a Thursday night. The lady who answered the phone was easygoing and friendly, and let me use one online coupon for each pie just by mentioning the online offer at checkout. I also met the owner when I went to pick up the pies. One medium and one large pie easily fed 7 people. The ingredients were fresh and tasty, and the pizza was still hot 15 minutes later when it arrived at my destination. It was slightly soggy, however. The crust felt like it was thicker than some of the NY style restaurants such as Slice of New York or Pizza My Heart. The quality was definitely a step above your typical pizza chain, and although I had a good experience and believe the ingredients were fresh, I'll probably go elsewhere based on my preferences.

Definitely a go-to spot for pizza in the area ... I've been around the South Bay for about 5 years, but this was the first time I even stepped in here! Mostly thanks to you stella Yelp contributors (you make my food choices so easy!). I usually head around the corner to A Slice of New York or Metro Pizza or behold: Paxti's! But I decided to give JT's a try and hit up the famous half Supreme (no tomatoes but with pineapple) - half Chicken Delight (as-is). Never before have I seen so many toppings in my life. These guys DON'T go cheap - I mean this dough is loaded (haha I said the dough is loaded ...) with goodies; all fresh; all tasty; and more than enough for even two medium slices to hit the spot well! I think the dough itself is something that may be a touch-or-go (yes, I make up my own words ... all the time!) depending on the person - I kinda liked it; but not enough to devote myself to it entirely ... but as I always say: to each their own. The guys and gals inside are nice, and the place was kept really well when I visited. I just grabbed the box and flew out the door. I wish they would've offered Parmesan and peppers as I almost always forget. Hopefully next time they will remember for me haha. I gotta say though, now that I've had deep dish pizzas and dashed some honey on the crust ... man, I don't know how I will ever be able to go back to just "normal" pizza's ... curse you Chicago (I love you so much!)

My favorite pizza place in or near Cupertino. I love the thick crust and the sauce. Prices are reasonable and when I order a half pepperoni half sausage and mushroom I feel the price is fair (I feel a little over-charged at other places). Reasonable beer available (I think Stella and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale), and I think there's wine, too but I haven't tried it. I come back again and again when my son doesn't make me go to one of the thin crust places.

Came in after having walked by one time to check out the menu.. one of the diners inside by the window saw us looking in and gave a vigorous nod and thumbs up haha =) She did not disappoint! We got the JT Supreme and.. oh man, SO good. Loaded with toppings, and super fresh-tasting. I was surprised that we were one of the only three occupied tables pretty much the whole time we were there. The only weird thing was that it was really quiet when we were there.. maybe the music was turned down really low that day? But I definitely recommend this place! It's a little far for me to come back regularly, but I will be back for sure!

I tried JT McHart's with my girlfriend for the first time yesterday and was thoroughly impressed by the pizza and friendliness of the owner! I usually go to Slice of NY (another excellent pizza place) but I'm definitely glad I checked Yelp and found JT McHart's. The style of pizza is different from Slice of NY (JT's is a heartier and thicker slice) but they are both delicious. We received a warm welcome by the owner right from the start. He gave us an informative breakdown of the menu and was really open to adapting the pizza to our tastes. Options are great when it comes to my taste buds! He offered us refills on our beverages and checked in with us during the meal to make sure everything was good. I will definitely be back and I'm happy to have found another quality pizza place I can frequent in South Bay!

J.T. McHarts...what a great little pizza place. Ordered the McHart's Special and a pepperoni. Great crust, fresh toppings, not greesy. Was greeted by, who I believe was the owner. Very nice. Good Monday/Tuesday coupon. Will be back.

I have no idea what the owner's name is and he probably won't be reading this among all the other reviews on his business, but I am here to return the favor. I have a small pouch for my credit cards and I recently decided to use another pouch for cash. I decided to give the waitress cash in tip and used the card for the meal because I thought she might like that better. However, I left my cash pouch at the restaurant without even knowing it because I was used to only carrying one pouch. When I returned couple days later, the owner told me there's about 10 to 11 dollars in it and he was trying to find an ID to find me. I have no idea how much was in it, but that sounds about right. He is an honest man with high integrity. Of course, the pizzas are great, but honest people like him deserve recognition among his ability to run a great pizza restaurant.

Wow, I thought I had written a review for this place! Anyways, I have been to JT McHart's Pizza many times and have fallen in love with their deliciously addicting pizza! We order the McHart Special without onions or sausage and love the pizza so much! The pizza is not soggy at all and has yummy crispy crust. The sauce is delicious and tastes homemade. There is just the right amount of cheese on the pizza and loads of fresh toppings. I love how they put lots of toppings on the pizza! My pizza was completely covered with mushrooms, pepperoni, and fresh tomatoes! I highly recommend this pizza place! The service is excellent as well and seems like they are family owned! Please try this place if you are looking for superb pizza :) 5+

From the moment we walked in we were blown away. Mike not only greeted us but gave us the history and made several suggestions. We were from out of town and he even made suggestions for fun places to visit in our home town. My husband and I shared the McHart special and it was amazing. The vegetables were fresh and the sourdough crust was out of this world! Can't wait to return!

Nope, I'm not a pizza aficionado, but I know good pizza when I taste it, and McHart's makes damn good pie! Like others have mentioned, the price is a bit steep, but for the quality it's well worth it. So, why not five stars? Well, good question. It was NOT the pizza as on its own it is definitely worth the vaunted five star rating. However, sitting in the restaurant was a bit uncomfortable on this warm day since it seemed there was no air conditioning, or it wasn't working. Made it uncomfortable inside. So next time we'll order ahead and take that delicious pie home! Almost forgot to mention what exactly makes the pizza so good - fresh ingredients and AWESOME sauce! Seriously, I can recommend McHart's without reservation.

Been coming here for years. My family loves their thick, chewy crust. We always get their combo, full of flavorful meats and fresh veggies. The crust can get a bit soggy under all those wet toppings, but if you toast or panfry it, the crust perks back up really well.

The staff is super nice and the pizza is good. Nothing fantastic but good. Got a medium pizza half chicken delight and half BLT. I really enjoyed the flavor of the BLT. Would have been nice if they didn't use the ends of tomatoes or if it was something other than iceberg lettuce. Chicken delight, the chicken was a little dry... the pizza is super loaded with toppings (i'm not a fan of mushrooms, maybe I should have asked for it without.

This is a delicious pizza spot! I've had some great pizza after living in NYC and though this isn't thin crust, one can appreciate the generous toppings that this place puts on their pizza. I love how they pack on the toppings. I've only tried the McHart's special since it has a variety of toppings including bell pepper, mushroom, pepperoni and fresh tomato. (love the fresh tomato!) There are other pizzas which look delicious as well like the gardener (I do like a veggie pizza). Even the Baja Express piques my interest (refried beans, mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, chorizo, ground beef, onions; after baking topped with lettuce, black olives, fresh tomato, sour cream and salsa). You can also create your own pizza. The small is a generous helping with six slices. Place itself is very cozy and service was fine. Definitely a great pizza spot in the area.

The pizza here is legit! Im an east coaster and I must say this place is great. It's a family run business that has a Taoist approach to their menu. No appetizers besides salad because their focused on pure quality. Pizza is fresh tossed as well. If you know what pizza should taste like or if your use to eating crap like "mainstream" brand pizza then come and get a taste of a damn good pie.

This was my first time eating here. I ordered carry out and from the girl on the phone to the man at the register, the employees were so friendly and welcoming. It really has a great family-owned restaurant vibe. The pizza was delicious. We ordered half cheese/half mushroom and the mushrooms were fresh and plentiful. I really loved the sauce, which was rich and flavorful. For the price, I had high hopes and, yes, it is worth the price. I will definitely be returning.

We've been craving pizza for several days, decided to try JT's after some Yelp searches, it did not disappoint. The place is kept very clean, at 6PM on a Saturday it was not too busy. We ordered the McHart's special and draft beers. Service was efficient and polite, the young lady tried to tell us that a large for two people is too much...we just like to have some leftovers since we do not eat pizza too often anymore. The pizza was very tasty, crust was crispy with the right balance of chewiness, the topping was the right amount and we liked the fresh tomato slices on top. Owner came to chat with us, he talked about hiring students without prior experience so they can pay for school. A very nice man. We'll be back the next time we crave for pizza.

The food here is good. You get what you pay for without a doubt. The manager here (Robert) is what makes the experience here. He's so attentive and genuinely kind. I will come back not just because of the food but for the service. He made myself and the fiancé feel so welcome and that any request we had was not a problem and they were happy to take care of us. I watched him interact with regulars and I can tell he takes genuine interest in everyone on a personal level. Awesome experience here.

When I moved to California, I made a priority of finding a go-to local pizzeria to replace the one back home, and it didn't take long. McHart's Pizza offers amazing food, friendly staff, and is an absolute gem in Cupertino. They load up the pizza with hearty, fresh ingredients, bake it to perfection, and bring it out piping hot. The atmosphere is fantastic and cosy, and I love bringing visitors to the area here for a slice. It would be nice to see some more diversity in the menu, particularly appetizers. I live a bit further away now, but I still drop by McHart's whenever I can!

I really love the lunch special here. A slice and a salad, add a soda and I'm good to go. Great fresh salad bar. Good Pizza. Friendly staff. This place is what is missing from the chain pizza places.

Fantastic family owned business with excellent pizza, good service and a real small town cozy ness about it. Wish there was more seating though.

Best pizza of all time. Albeit being a little more expensive than chain pizza joints, you really pay for the quality. Order your pizza with garlic. It's underneath the cheese. It's great.

We enjoyed a small pizza for two. Half Cupertino. Half Hawaiian. It was a perfect place for a date spot. We were served by the owner himself. The staff was friendly and always buzzing around to tend to tables often. The best part was that pizza ingredients were neatly laid out. It showed that there was care put into how the ingredients were arranged. We will be back for more!

Wonderful spot for Pizza! I can't remember the last time the owner of a restaurant was even present for dinner service let alone at the register, serving pizzas and refilling water. Truly a man who loves his job. I'm not usually moved by customer service, but it was really refreshing to receive a discount even though I misread the Check-In offer, which clearly states that the 25% off was only for Tuesday nights. I've read quite a few nostalgic reviews written by others, but my review is based on my first experience. Walking in on a Saturday night, there wasn't a single table available. After looking up a few pics, we decided on the medium. Half JT Supreme and Chicken. We weren't seated long before our pizza arrived. Too hot to eat; we let it cool. The crust was crunchy and held its shape despite the load of toppings. You could tell the ingredients were fresh and of good quality. Definitely recommend!

  • Vivian L.

When walking in, we didn't see many people in the restaurant but decided that the number of reviews are too high to not try. The pizza took a bit longer than I had hoped (15min) but after the pizza arrived (we ordered the McHart's Special), we realized that it was worth the wait. The makers did not skimp on the ingredients. Definitely coming back.

First time here. Was craving pizza and randomly found this on yelp. I always pass by this place but never thought more about it. The owner rec commend that we order the JT supreme because its fully loaded with everything (which we loved) All the ingredients tasted very fresh except my bf thought the tomato paste tasted like prego sauce. I especially enjoyed the owner. He was super nice and friendly. He would come by our table to check how the food was and if we need anything else. Overall great experience. Will definitely come back.

Robert and family bring a fantastic pie and toppings to the pizza fair. Great selection, excellent toppings, awesome taste. Superior, friendly service. Per slice at lunch is well worth stopping by for. Mix and match with a friend. Service is great. Robert retains his wait staff - they get lots of training. Eaten there personally, and used for company meals for 15 years.

Probably one of the best thick crust pizzas I've had in a while. We got the Blanche's Favorite and it was loaded with tons of mushrooms. Most places really skimp on the mushrooms and toppings but not here. The crust was very light and fluffy. The people were very friendly. Even with pepperoni the pizza didn't feel greasy and heavy. The owner is super friendly and will probably come out and talk to you if you're dining in. This is our go to place whenever we want quality pizza. Definitely gonna come back again, and try their spicy thin crust pizza (read the instructions on the back of their menu)

Best.Pizza . Ever....I remember going to McHarts as a child when it was over in Fremont and owned by the previous owner..that pizza has literally stuck in my mind since I was around 8 and have not had pizza that was as good since. Then I was over in Cupertino and saw this place so i called my mom to see if this was, in fact, the same JT McHarts as when I was a kid and it was. I took my husband there and he was blown away...first of all the pizza come out OVERLOADED with fresh toppings..no grease and tons of fresh veggies and meats. The pizza tastes amazing and now I have found our new go to spot. The waitress was very attentive and what made the evening even better was when the owener came over and apologized for taking so long to make the pizza ( it only took about 15-20 min)..he then went on to say that if our son ( who was with us) ever wanted to see how a pizzeria worked, he would be glad to give him a tour. How awesome was that.. Over all amazing pizza, amazing customer service..will be back and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Best pizza, hands down, to anywhere else! Blanche's Favorite and The Gardner with pesto sauce are our two family favorites. Robert and his staff are wonderful! This is our go to pizza place...my son would eat there every day if I'd let him. Hate to share this with the world, but their pizza is too good not to share!

AWESOME AND FRIENDLY SERVICE Pizza was overloaded w/ fresh tasting toppings. Never saw such a piled high pizza ALOT of fresh ingredients on each slice that ones can get stuffed very fast. Standard crust was thick with a crispy bottom but w/ soft airy bread..WONDERFUL. Its a hidden gem in a busy shopping center. We ordered a two person meal which included a 3 item pizza or specialty pizza, 2 salads from a make your own bar and 2 refillable sodas for $32.xx (including tax) Place is strictly pizza, calzone, sandwiches (lunch), salad , soda, beer, and wine. They provide the best pizza we tasted in a llllloooonnnngggg while. Their menu might not be cluttered with tons of dishes, but what they create is awesome. Definitely no complaints here. Two happy customers here :)

I went there with three friends and got a Large McHart's special (pepperoni, Italian sausage, fresh mushrooms, red onions, bell pepper and fresh tomato). It tasted great, the cheese was very good, and the toppings were generous. The Large was a little small for the four of us, but we wanted to grab a pastry at the neighboring Beard Papa's anyway !

mmm, I'm craving pizza right now... and when I crave something, I like to find the best of it in the South Bay. JT McHart's has been a place I've always walked past when I'm in that plaza, if only I had known earlier how delicious their pizza was... Their pies come in a single, medium and large... a single is big enough to comfortable feed 2 people (unless you guys are massive eaters or something). What I love most about this pizza is the crunchy crust. After going on my craze for the best pizza joints, I can no longer eat Costco pizza or any of those other not-so-good chain places.

The owner is very friendly. We actually came by too late and they were closing, but he recognized my friend, so he let us order and dine in. The pizza bread is very thick and its very cheesy. It's not my favorite pizza but I would come back because the owner is awesome!

I love love love this pizza! I am not down for all that thin crust non sense. I want a pizza that can hold it's own. Loaded with toppings and still be able to eat it like a normal piece of pizza. I hate when you want to lift your pizza up to take a bite and the whole thing just flops down and everything falls off. Well not here folks! This pizza holds up! I am not a dainty chick; I don't want to use a knife and fork to eat my pizza. I came here last night with my husband. We ordered the two person dinner special. It comes with a medium pizza, two salads, and two drinks for I believe $27 but if you mention Yelp you get a discount! So cool! We had Blanche's Special which has pepperoni, mushroom, and olives, oh and extra cheese. It was so yummy, and just the right amount of cheese! Oh and our waitress was very friendly and helpful! I can't wait to come back!

Great Pizza. a little hole in the wall place. not that many seats, but the salad and pizza are extremely tasty. The crust is crispy, the thickness of the pizza is just right. The bottom of the pizza was never soggy. Ingredients for the topping are fresh. Service is good. Come here for pizza, you won't be disappointed.

We decided on trying this place based on almost 5 star Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed! It was late on Tuesday close to closing. WE were greeted by the owner I assumed, a very nice older man. The place wasn't busy at all so we wondered if that was a bad sign. No way! From that point on everything was great! This friendly man sat us. Even the salad bar was still fresh. We ordered a large to share and the owner gave us 2 small salads for the price of a large, $3 discount. A younger girl employee came over to ask if we wanted more before they cleared the salad bar. Thoughtful! The man suggested the small pizza was big enough for two when we inquired about the medium pizza dinner. Selling down! I asked if it was thick or thin crust. He said thick but he could make it thin if we wanted that. Very accommodating! We ordered half and half McHarts special and Cupertino special. Shortly the pizza came. It was piled high with meat, one side with fresh tomato slices, perfectly hot but didn't burn the roof of my mouth. The crust was crispy and didn't collapse when I picked up a piece. It was delicious!!! Since we are small eaters we still had some to take home and enjoy later! We will definitely go back again even though we are 8 miles away in Mountain View. Thanks McHarts!

Come to McHart's, pay a few more bucks than Round Table, and leave with a new pizza taste. The guys and I ordered the McHart's Special. One of the best thick crust I tasted. Lots of toppings. The large size was plentiful for four people. The wait time is long, but it's worth it. Fountain drinks are served in glass or pitcher. Free refills available for drinks ordered by glass. Be prepared to pay a small tip because the drinks are served to you instead of self serve. The restaurant is small. If you have a big party, you should consider calling in your order for take out.

This is my favorite pizza restaurant in the area. I've been here several times with my girlfriend and have never been disappointed. The manager behind the counter (I want to say he's also the owner) has been there every time and has alway ensured we got the best experience. The service is great. They are alway over the top willing to accommodate us and my girlfriend's somewhat restrictive diet. We've arrived a little late a few time and they were more than willing to pull back out some of the salad bar after they had put it away. I love that the place doesn't have TVs blasting like most pizza restaurants. It make the atmosphere relaxing and encourages conversation. The food is great. The pizza is unique and tasty. The sourdough crust adds a great twist and compliments the numerous toppings well. They have several well chosen beers on tap as well, which is always a plus in my book. I would most definitely recommend this place to a friends and family. Check it out!!

Delicious fresh pizza with a thick crust that manages to be both crispy and non-greasy. I came here with a big group of friends for dinner and managed to eat five slices of their large pizzas without feeling gross. Their barbecue chicken pizza was my favourite - very delicious smoky, saucy, tender diced bbq chicken. They need to work on distributing the meat more evenly though - it was clumped in the middle so that a large outer rim of pizza didn't have any meat on it. The vegetarian pizza was also ok, though I think there were too many onions. The supreme had a lot of meat going on, but it was nicely balanced with some crisp green peppers. Service was quite slow even though it's a small restaurant that wasn't uber-crowded. The waitress took a full 30 minutes to bring out my friend's beer. Oh well, the value ($10 pp for 3 large pizzas) definitely balanced out where the service was lacking. As this is next door to the very very very crowded Yogurtland, parking can be a hassle.

I tried McHart's pizza for the first time, and it was really good. We ordered a medium pizza with sausage, mushroom, and jalenpenos. The pizza was covered with a lot of mushroom, which I love! I only saw a few pieces of sausages, but a lot of jalenpeno slices on top. I think there was the perfect amount of sauce and cheese. The crust on the bottom was crispy, too. I liked how you can enjoy the pizza outside at one of the tables. Since it was such a nice day, we decided to eat the pizza outside, too. The service is good here. They bring out napkins, plates, knives, forks, parmasean cheese, and red pepper to your table. =) I thought it was nice that we got to use real silverware...lol. I was expecting paper plates and plastic utensils.

I came here with a bunch of friends after two of them had suggested it. Good, local, pizza. We ordered a bbq chicken, supreme, and veggie. All were pretty good, but clearly the bbq chicken was the best. It wasn't as good as my friends hyped it up to be, but I guess I just have high standards. The owner is a really nice guy and he even came by and bussed our table! The service was good and prices were very reasonable. They don't have much seating inside though, but there are some tables outside if they're not taken by the mobs devouring froyo. A good dinner option if you're dying to get froyo since Yogurtland is basically next door. The whole plaza was swamped with high school kiddies though, beware.

Wow, their pizza is great and loaded with toppings. A small is more than enough for 2. The crust is great and everything is fresh. One down side is they do not have delivery but the location is easy to access. The owner is great and usually remembers what you ordered the previous time which just amazes me since we only go there maybe every 2 months. This is a must try pizza joint. You won't be disappointed.

I found a coupon on their website and decided to come here because I've never been before. First impression, this place is small. There were about 14 tables, and they were packed in a little closely. They were also all full except for one, which is a good sign and good luck for us. The seating is in the front and around the side of the storefront, the salad bar and open kitchen are in the back. We ordered the Big Hart (mushrooms, peperoni, salami, and Italian sausage). I liked the pizza. That's important, as the carbohydrate budget I'm on doesn't let me enjoy pizza very often, and it's a waste to use carbs on bad pizza. This was much better than the soggy cardboard served at the Giant Rat Pizza place across the street. If I feel the need to spend some carbs on pizza again, JT McHart's would be high on my list.

We stumbled upon this place by chance and I am so glad we did. We ordered a small 1/2 "The Gardner" and 1/2 "Big Hart" and it was Delish! The service was friendly and they were very attentive. I would definitely go back again. :)

This place has the best pizza I've ever had. My criteria to base this on is perfect thickness of crust dough, golden brown bottom, super fresh toppings, great flavor, not too oily. I dunno how they managed to balance everything Food: 5 stars Service: 3 Ambiance: 4 Overall: 5 stars == update 5/21/10: We went again this past thursday and brought a bunch of friends, and it was great again. Jasmine, the waitress, is a definite keeper. She's really friendly and patient with our indecisive large group. Even though the yelp coupon for their 25th anniversary discount was taken off the yelp website already, they were still willing to honor it. Gotta love that. We tried the J.T. Supreme, the Chicken Delight w/ pesto sauce and thin crust (chicken's a bit dry and the pizza could use more pesto sauce), and a customized pizza that we nicknamed Jasmine's Special w/ sausage olives and garlic. I do have to say that they do their supreme pizzas really well, because most other places' would get soggy w/ so many toppings.

Let me start by saying, holy ohhEmGee!! This place is awesome. Last night I was dying for pizza (being new to the area I yelped, my fellow yelpers you did not fail me!) I headed on down to JT McHarts, ordered myself a medium pepperoni and was delighted with my pie! Super fresh, best crust I've had in the loooongest time. The owner was there and he is the sweetest guy! He made sure I was satisfied with my pie then dug out a business card for me so i wouldn't forget the place. Note on service: My waitress was great, a total sweetheart, she earned a large tip! Sorry, round table you have just been beaten!

I ruv this itty old-school looking pizza place to bits! :3 Old man McHart (I don't know his real name) is really nice. Don't let the yelp discount put you off into thinking the pizza here is not good. I brought my FOB Mom, who thinks Pizza Hut has "great pizza", loved this place even more and during her one week stay in the Bay Area had me take her there twice. They use fresh vegetable and meat ingredients, make their own pizza sauce, and their own dough. Another great bonus about this place is that they're willing to do half-and-half pizzas for you (one kind of pizza on one side, and another kind on the other). I know some people aren't a fan but I love that when I'm dining in, the crust and pizza bottom are really crunchy.

I work in Redwood City and live in the Santa Cruz Mountains..but this is STILL where I go to get my pizza. My husband and I have been going here for most of our lives and every other pizza place pales in comparison. Our favorite is a good ol' fashioned pepperoni and black olive. The crust is yummy and never soggy. Robert (the owner) and his staff are really sweet, they even wrap my pizza box in tin foil so that it stays hot on my drive home. =) For anyone to suggest that people like this place because of nostalgia is insane. My taste buds only have allegiance to good food and trust me, McHarts is awesome. We heart them!!

  • Joel G.

OK I would do a three but got out voted by my co-eaters. The good: the service, the yelp discount, the massive amount of toppings The controversial: too much cheese, crust bottom too crispy, sauce too much oregano and less flavor, pepperoni was missing fennel. Place was nice inside. Prices were OK for a pie in the valley.

JT''s is THE pizza place in Cupertino. There isn't even a pizzeria that comes close in second. I've been going her since my little league baseball days. Get the McHart's special with fresh tomatoes and you're golden.

No phony ingredients on McHart's Pizza! We have been enjoying their pizzas for many years and every one has been made with nothing but high quality ingredients and baked to perfection. My husband has high blood pressure so the fact that they do NOT use highly salted immitation ingredients makes a huge difference in quality and flavor. Have a special request? Just let them know what is on your mind and are very responsive. The facility is always clean and the staff is friendly and fast! Wish the parking lot was larger but that is really beyond their control and getting past that is worth the effort.

This is the best pizza ever! Not just in this town or this side of the Mississippi... I mean ever! Their ingredients are all fresh, its family owned and whether you like cheese, veggie, hawaiian or all meat - you can't go wrong! LOVE this place!

Read so many rave reviews about this place, therefore decided to eat here for lunch. Ended up ordering the McHart's Special. It comes with pepperoni, Italian sausage, fresh mushrooms, red onions, bell pepper and fresh tomato. They also have beer there!!! What more can you ask for, beer and pizza yum yum. The pizza came out pretty quick. After eating the first slice, I was really impressed. The pizza crust was tasty, not too thin or thick. As for the ingredients, it was so fresh and tasty. What I love about the pizza was that it wasn't oily at all. It leaves your mouth wanting for more. The customer service was great! I would come here more often if they actually had a T.V. This would be awesome for upcoming Football games.

Good pizza with lots of fresh toppings and zero grease. I got the Gardener, and the veggies (especially the zucchini and tomatoes) were the best I've had on a vegetarian pizza in a while. The only downside was that I think all of the water that cooked out of the fresh veggies made the crust a little wet. Not really soggy, just...wet. Which made me appreciate that they put the pizza on an extra square of cardboard before putting it in the box. (So the wetness didn't soak through the bottom of the box.) The crust bumped them down to three stars. If the crust isn't wet the next time I'm there, I'll definitely give them four.

Finally tried this place a couple days ago. It's a total chill place small for pizza and No TV. It's a family place no other distractions like other Pizza places. They have a small salad bar which was pretty fresh. We got a medium size supreme, it was really good. Thick crust a lot of toppings everything you'd want. I'll definity be coming back for pizza!

I love this place! Hands down the best pizza in the bay area. Hell, it's the best pizza I've had. The staff are all very friendly and the owner is awesome. You can have any pizza any way you want. Unlike most places where they frown upon making changes this place welcomes it. They pile on the toppings so you definitely get your money's worth. The only downside is that this place gets packed! But I guess that's a good thing. It really is that damn good!

Have been coming here since the 90s so it has a special place in my heart. But honestly, best pizza I have ever had. It's everything I like in a pizza, good crust, good ingredients, awesome ranch dressing. The staff is prett chill, which I like. This is now my son's favorite pizza place as well, we always stop by McHart's whenever we visit family in the bay area.

This pizza place is my favorite of all time. Went here with the family tonight, they are having a special 25% off if you mention yelp. What a deal! The pizza is so delicious...fresh, not greasy/salty, excellent. It makes places like pizza hut and dominos look and taste like vomit. We had the JT Mcharts special which I highly recommend. It includes onion, mushroom, sausage, green peppers, pepperoni, and fresh tomatoes. They do NOT skimp on the toppings! The pizza was COVERED in toppings. The store is located right next to beard papa's and yogurtland so you can go get dessert after you are done. The owner is super friendly and even came to our table to ask us how the dinner was. This is my 4th time going back and I will definitely be back again.

  • Alvin L.

The ambiance is ok, small and quaint. The service was very good; however the pizza did not match up at all. They have a good sourdough crust and prepare fresh ingredients/toppings (I think daily). I've gone here a couple of times and had the JT Supreme. the problem is that the veggie toppings were not cooked through enough or cut too thick (fresh ingredients retain a lot of water). I don't know, but it leaves the sourdough crust to be a little soggy, especially in the middle of the pie. If you want a taste test without visiting this place, go get a Digiorno. They are comparable in taste.

After reading all of the great reviews of this pizza joint, my husband and I decided to check it out. We ordered two pizzas: a pepperoni and a combo. Both pizzas were loaded with toppings. The crust was thick, but had nice flavor. What I really liked was the sauce. Too many pizza parlors don't pay enough attention to this important ingredient. The sauce here not only had great flavor, but they put quite a bit of sauce on the pizza. My only complaint about this pizza is that my husband put the left overs on our kitchen counter, left the room and came back to find that our dog had finished off the pizza. Major bummer. Smokey gives J.T. McHart's 4 stars and two paws up.

For a place self-billed as the "best pizza restaurant in Cupertino," it's actually pretty good. It's nestled in a shopping plaza, and unless you're looking for it, this place can be easy to miss. I was a little skeptical when I went here with some friends, but it turned out to have quite tasty pizza. Every time I've gone here, we've always ordered a medium McHart's Special for two or three people. It's a good mix of veggies, meat, and cheese. The crust has always been nice and crisp, not burnt and not soggy. The pizza sauce has been pretty good in terms of spices to tomato. If you go for lunch, you might be able to buy pizza by the slice, but I would recommend getting a couple of people together and just getting a whole pie to share. That way it'll be fresh and you can order to taste. The restaurant is quite small, so if you're not getting the pizza to go, you might want to take that into consideration.

  • Frank C.

Awesome pizza! I've had the McHart special and the JT Supreme; both were amazing. So amazing, in fact, that I'll probably be ordering them for quite a while, even though I really want to try new flavors there. I can't believe I never tried this place until recently, since I used to frequent this plaza quite often. I would walk right by and not even notice. I think it's because the outside appearance makes it a tad inconspicuous, but this actually adds to the appeal of the place. It gives me the same feeling like a hidden tavern in the woods.

  • Moe R.

After reading the reviews, I expected something a lot better. Honestly, this is no better than Round Table. The pizza was lukewarm with average ingredients and crust. The salad bar was ok and not well chilled (they will not do well when the county health inspectors come by). Not bad. Not good.

I'm a city girl and have my favorite pizza place in San Francisco. In fact, I don't really go anywhere else because I'm called by the garlic buttery goodness that Tomaso's has. Unfortunately, there is no Tomaso's in Cupertino, but we happened to stumble upon JT McHarts. Its not much to look at and the service isn't spectacular, but they make an excellent pie. Thin crust pizza, lots of meat and topped with fresh sliced tomatoes. This pizza is loaded with flavor and will exceed your expectations. I found the pizza to be a little spendy compared to what we see in San Francisco, but it ended up being worth every penny!

Consistently great pizza. The owner is always friendly as are their employees. The pizza has a nice crust and they are generous with the toppings. I find it less greasy than some of the other pizza places around. This is my go to place for pizza.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
