Sorry to say Marvin's food and service does not match the comfortable, bright space. Hadn't been there for couple years (Since discovering Big Daddy's on Golf Course in RP, they are 5 star!) but went this morning for breakfast. The waitresses and bussers are friendly enough, and kept our coffee cups full. Ordered "country" sausage with eggs and hash browns, supposedly from "local" vendors per the menu, and got a perfect rectangle of mealy, rubbery, weirdly spiced processed meat(?) that would be rejected by any Airline caterer as inedible. Could not eat more than one small bite. My wife got the chicken apple links, and they weren't bad, so we shared hers. The waitress never checked on us after serving the food, and when she finally came she cleared our plates without a word, despite the obviously uneaten slab. A simple " how was everything?" would have been appreciated, and I could have let her know it was bad etc. and asked where it in fact came from. We paid our bill, and left, never to return.

I tried the Mexican Benedict the other day. Eggs Benedict is usually my go to breakfast, besides chicken fried steak and eggs, but when you throw chorizo in the mix, you had me at, "instead of ham". Absolutely recommend. The staff is nice and atmosphere is homey. So happy to have moved a minute's walk away.

Just ordered breakfast to pick up and sent my boyfriend to get it. When he got here I looked and found that I received bacon and eggs not the steak and eggs that I ordered. I called to see if I could come back and get some steak and the women on the phone still could not understand what I was saying. She at one point though I was talking about biscuits and gravy.... We live out In The country so when we drive into town to get food and it's wrong it's just all the more disappointing. She made the excuse that there phone is bad. All I'm saying is if you have a restaurant and offer food to go. You should probably get a better phone! Plus they over cook there bacon.

We love to have breakfast here whenever we can. We have been coming to Marvin's for almost a year now and this place is always busy. The service its slow at times but food is great and the staff is always friendly.

We love to eat here. It's a home town type place. For the longest time I always got a burger and loves it. Most the time I order breakfast items now and am always happy. The coffee is great too.

We went here to attempt to have breakfast this morning. We were served water, and they let us sit there for 40 minutes before anyone asked us if our order had been taken. The waitress came back 10 minutes later to take our order. We wait. Our son starts having a melt down because he's hungry, 6, and not very good at waiting. We wait some more. After about 75 minutes of waiting and no one checking in on us, no refills our waters, or touched up my husbands coffee. We walked. When my husband told them why we are leaving, they said okay. Not sorry. Just, okay. No idea what the food tastes like, as we were never served. I do not recommend this place.

I have gone to Marvin's a few times now and always leave not so satisfied. Last time I told the cashier that my eggs were horrible and all he could say was 'I'm sorry to hear that'. Today we couldn't get a refill on coffee, I had to get sugar from another table and had to go to the counter to get a to go box. The girl kept walking past us but wouldn't help us. When we decided to pay and leave, we had to ask someone else for the check. We went to the cash register and again, nobody would help us! We left the cash and the check sitting next to the register and walked out.

Bummer! I had high hopes but was totally let down. I brought a client to breakfast and neither of us could hardly start, let alone finish our food. How tough is it to make oatmeal? Seriously? We would have complained but our server basically ignored us and because it was a business breakfast, we chose to minimize the poor experience and just paid the check (no tip) and went somewhere else for brunch. Hoping the Cotati Yacht Club reopens soon!

Living in the Rohnert Park area for three years now, I can say Marvin's is my favorite place to get breakfast. I have never had a bad experience with the food or the service. I usually order an egg white omelette along with a white mocha (highly recommend for those who like their coffee sweet!). The homemade jams are also delicious. All around great place for breakfast and brunch!

Oh man! It was good this time!!! I would leave more stars if I could. Service was great for as crowded as it was. Waitpersons were very very pleasant. Food and coffee...OUTSTANDING!

Nice little restaurant with great breakfast food. Large portions, great service and great food. I love breakfast food and this place had it perfect! Will come back for sure when we are visiting!

My omellete was very dry. Almost like a piece of paper with a filling of dry mushrooms and sausage. The eggs benedict looked good. I should have gotten that. Live and Learn

I don't see how anyone could not like the food here! I can see service being slow on weekends but that is bc it is so popular. Have gone here for years and the Ppls working here are very nice, and the food is fresh, hot, and very very good. Love the cozy atmosphere and homey feel.

Excellent food excellent service. The quality can't be beat! Must try the house omelette!!

my experience here has usually been very good but I'm.a weekday customer. tbere is one server i wish we could avoid. He gets the orders wrong, is inattentive and acts like he just doesn't care. I think he was cooking today. It's Sunday the place was slammed and the food was 'off' as was staff coordination. in the future I will avoid weekends and choose my section carefully.

My wife and I ate here one morning. Best corned beef hash we've ever had. The chicken fried steak was very good. We will have to come back here next time we are in the area. It's worth the drive.

Marvin's has been around a while, I think they survive because of the steady good quality of all they serve. Priced are reasonable, service is good. Never been dissatisfied. No need to say any more. Four stars, not five as the menu could use some tweaking and updating. ( just remove what doesn't sell, and try some new items ) Not too hard to figure out !

This place is so outstandingly good! Great weekend joint, the best chicken fried steak in sonoma county, excellent fresh squeezed orange juice and cheerful and cute waitresses.

I like my current breakfast hangout, Marvin's Restaurant in Cotati. A solid 3 stars. Marvin's has a country-ish, 70's-ish feel to it which I like on both counts. Second it is in Cotati which is a funky, earthly little town just south of Rohnert Park. I like their breakfast offerings and sometimes even their lunches. But what makes me come back to Marvin's is its laid back, open and comfortable environment. They also have Wi-Fi that I frequently use when I come alone. They make fresh squeezed Orange Juice and they have three different choices of coffees. A small town near-diner style restaurant with warmth and nice servers. A nice option in the Rohnert Park / Cotati area! Review 0021

I would highly recommend the fresh squeezed orange juice and the marvin's scramble. Has a good small town restaurant feel where it's a nice home cooked meal. Great place to get breakfast!

  • Charlene C.

I usually eat at The Gally but it is cloaed on Mondays so I went to Marvins instead. I was starving and did not want to drive all the way to Ihop. The last two times I had been to Marvins the service was slow but I thought if I ordered right as I was seated then maybe it would be faster.....I was wrong. Service was slow and food was bland. I could not understand the girl that took my drink order. Oh well.

Disappointing decline in food quality. I used to love this place. Lipstick on my coffee mug this morning also makes me wonder about their attention to cleanliness.

Maybe I caught them on a bad day? Not even a bad day, just a "not so 5-star" day. The Good: This place was very clean, the food was hot, the jam was delicious, the portions were generous. My son ordered the short stack and he said the pancakes were delicious. The So-So: It was loud! I figured on a Sunday morning it was filled with people happily enjoying their brekkie so I couldn't really be mad about it. It just made speaking with my hubby a bit difficult. No worries. :-) Most of the food was very well cooked but unbelievably bland. I'm talking absolutely no salt or pepper or seasoning of any kind. Bummer!! It all looked so good but just a flavor flop. My hubby's chicken fried steak was a bit overcooked. His gravy was also super bland. The Bad: We had never been before so I was unaware that they have a "seat yourself" vibe happening. The woman who saw us standing there was lovely, however, and directed us to a booth. Our server was another matter. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or simply doesn't smile. When she gave us our food she opted to not tell us whose toast was whose so we got to play toast roulette. No water refills so rationing was interesting. At the end we waited a painfully long time for our check. All in all it wasn't horrible but it wasn't amazing. We may come back, although with so many other choices close by it may be quite a while.

  • Mark S.

Not a bad choice... Went in for a quick breakfast with the family. The place was busy, yet they made room for a party of five. The service was quick, prices fair, and waiters friendly. The food was middle of the road,...good portion size, but nothing to write home about....The hash browns for example tasted/looked like they were fresh out of the freezer. The JAM was the best,...the highlight.

I knew we knew we were in good shape when we walked in. Cholula and Tabasco on the table. Great real food. Home cook in'.

Our son told us about this restaurant. This place is always booming with customers. It is very popular and the food is delicious. Since we don't eat meat, we ordered a veggie omelet that has broccoli and other veggies. Instead of mushrooms, we asked if we could have an avocado instead. They were very accommodating. It was very delicious. We also like the deals with their $1.00 muffins. These muffins were from the day before, but they are so delicious and you can't beat this deal for the large muffins. Also, you should try one of their delicious biscuits. So good.

  • Techie N.

Excellent! We love the atmosphere and cozy seating arrangement. The service was perfect. Food came remarkably fast. We ordered a Taco Salad Bowl and a Turkey salad. The turkey was home cooked that day on site and not from a deli. Yum! Best Salad Ever! The Taco salad was amazing. So delicious! The crispy taco bowl was flaky and melted in my mouth. The beef was actually still hot by the time I got half way down the bowl. The portions were so generous we had enough to take home for another meal. Can't wait until we try another item from the menu. They close at 3:00.

Friendly, clean homey! Great omelets, burgers, salads. Good service, nice place for breakfast or lunch.

  • Shannon B.

The service isn't very good. The food is pretty good but it doesn't look like what you see on the pictures in the menu. Everything is pretty expensive it's about $10 for French toast with strawberries and bread isn't a very expensive item at a grocery store. It seems like the only employee actually working is a blonde woman everyone else isn't really doing anything, and our table never got checked on. Kind of a disappointment.

You can always rely on this restaurant for a quality meal. Had a breakfast sandwich which was more than enough food, the chicken apple sausage scramble was hearty. My preference is a less sweet sausage, but still very good. Nice outdoor seating is always a plus.

  • Jordan S.

Good ol' fashion diner. Average prices for dinner, but above average food. Better than most other diner spots in the surrounding area. I definitely enjoyed the old fashioned look inside, especially the low sitting bar in the middle where people ate and had their coffee. The two breakfast items were on point that we ordered and the chili I ordered was homemade. I wasn't the biggest fan of the chili, but hey, at least it is homemade. I will be back.

Love this place. I bring all of my out of town visitors here. Great service! Mexican eggs benedict is awesome.

  • Giacomo D.

Friendly service, tasty food, and a comfortable atmosphere. A tad pricey, but still quite reasonable. We got the chorizo scramble and the breakfast sandwich - both delicious!

  • Phil G.

Service is quite slow, food is mediocre but the portions are huge. If you're hungry, low on cash but willing to wait a bit for your food, this place could do the job.

  • Lonnie W.

For years I've known them for have the best omelette in town. they have friendly and courteous staff, food is presented in a very clean manner, and the coffee is so great, but what happen to the fluffy Omelttes?

  • Jen G.

Aweful food, eggs Benedict was gross!!! My son got the cotati omlete & didn't care for it. We won't return again, this is nothing like the Marvin's in Petaluma ( not sure if they are still there but 200 times better!!) It's overpriced & bland save your money & go somewhere else.

Great homemade food. .. love the breakfast variety and specials. Also love that they offer American and Mexican variety. Definitely our favorite weekend breakfast place. Many loyal regulars. Don't mind the wait. Ron loves the homemade strawberry freezer jam... best breakfast place in Cotati by far...!

Had heard only good things by several friends and liked the idea of trying something different and something locally owned. Figured it must be something special by the crowds waiting to be seated. The first 2 times we ate there, the food was okay (not special or fantastic) but the service was slow. Several months later decided to give Marvin's a third try. Figured there must be a reason it is always crowded. Well, that was the very last time we will be eating at Marvin's. After waiting 30 minutes for a table we were finally seated in a corner by a refrigerator. While waiting an extremely long time to get our meal, we had to endure the constant trail of servers taking things out of the refrigerator and bumping the back of my husband's chair with the refrigerator door. It was unbelievable. Couldn't even say if the food was good that day. Just couldn't wait to get the hell out. Nothing to do but laugh, never go back and definitely not recommend.

Great coffee. Fresh juice. Mostly homemade. Great service. We kinda lov it here. Great place with a friendly atmosphere. Pretty fast too!

Marvin's is a no frills, homey restaurant that is great for a simple breakfast meal. I enjoy the low key atmosphere and the breakfast selection here. The staff are friendly and the wait for your food is not long. I don't really care for the lunch here but I have never been disappointed with the breakfast meals.

  • Rachael B.

Marvin's is the absolute best. Fast service and the food is very consistent. My favorite is absolutely the Mexican Benedict. English muffin topped with chorizo and a perfectly poached egg loaded with hollandaise. Highly recommend adding an avocado as it cuts the spice nicely. It is open seating, you seat yourself. It is not by any means a fancy place, but it is a local joint that is a great place for a tasty breakfast.

This has become our favorite breakfast/brunch/lunch place! I always get French Toast, and mom always gets the Marina Sandwich (shrimp salad). We dearly miss the one in Petaluma & are super glad we discovered this one! Good prices & good people.

  • Post P.

Great breakfasts! Try Cotati omelette or scramble; sausage, sun dry tomatoes, artichokes & cheese.

  • Steven A.

Our local favorite breakfast spot. Conveniently placed, budget pricing and good portions. Food is consistently good and service is likewise pleasing and friendly. Decor is a bit dated, although it does lend a homely atmosphere. Make sure to try the French toast with strawberries - top notch!

We're regulars. I really like the Ranch Omelet even though its too much food. My husband will either get the huevos ranchos or eggs Benedict, or a burger of some sort. Even the regular eggs, potatoes, meat n toast breakfast for $6.50 is really satisfying. Good Thanksgiving brand coffee around $2.25 w/ bottomless refills. The fresh squeezed OJ is TO die for. I think its $4 or $5 for a large but so so worth it as you'll finish the regular size and want another. It has to be the fresh squeezed OJ though, make sure to ask for fresh squeezed and if they are out - don't bother. And they have great jams too. This place reminds me of the great greasy spoon breakfast joints I used to go to as a kid where you'd pay maybe $3 for breakfast and it was so good and filling you didn't need lunch. I went to the supposed sister restaurant in Petaluma once thinking that this other one could actually be better, after reading that on some reviews, No- COTATI MARVIN'S IS WAY BETTER!

I came here on a Sunday with a large group of people (one of whom had never had an American DIner experience). It's very typical middle America diner look and feel. We were seated as soon as we walked in, but it took a while for our server to come over. It wasn't particularly busy, but there were only two ladies doing all the footwork out there, so it was understandable. We ordered the buttermilk pancakes, the garden omelet, a chicken salad and another special house salad. The pancakes were great, but everything else was just blah. I've been to places that put their heart and soul into their breakfasts and you can taste it. I was very disappointed with the food. Overall, it was just, "Meh, I've experience better," I don't think I would come back here.

First time at Marvin's today and we will be back. Yes, it's a country style diner, so no, it's not fancy. It's good diner food with good service. I appreciated that it was a bit noisy because I have two small children and we felt comfortable not worrying about their noise (which isn't a lot most of the time when dining out, but sometimes it is hard to control how much noise a baby makes). Service was attentive even though the place was fairly busy. We had breakfast at lunchtime. Hubby tried the Eggs Benedict, which he and I both enjoyed. Great ham and yummy Hollandaise. I had the biscuits/gravy with scrambled eggs and bacon. I asked for my bacon crispy and it was fantastic. The eggs were typical for diner scrambled eggs. The biscuits were great. The gravy was ok - LOTS of it. Wasn't as salty as I would have liked, but that's easily remedied. For the kids we ordered the kids waffle combo with sausage and the Teddy Bear pancake. It was all served hot and tasted good. First time I'm had waffles at a diner that I actually liked. And the fruit bowls they give you are loaded, not just 4 little pieces of fruit like we've had other places. One downer for parents with infants: No changing table in the restroom. While it's not always a necessity, sometimes you have no choice but to change baby during or after a meal.

Perfect casual breakfast spot. My husband and I love the Chicken Tamale Omlette, Corned Beef Hash, and Joe's Scramble. We can go home and do yard work all day after one of Marvin's breakfasts!

  • Robert G.

I have been to hundreds of restaurants and have never sent food back and walked out until I made the ill-advised decision to go to Marvin's in Cotati. The sandwich was soaked through the bun in grease and the soup was disgusting. I like diners but this one is probably the worst one that I have ever been to.

    (1)
  • Amber M.

My daughter & I ate here about a month ago. She ordered a waffle and did not enjoy it. It was thin & soggy, yet dense. I ordered an omelet w/hash browns. My omelet was runny (gross) and the hash browns were under cooked, yet stale. Also very salty. Everything seemed to have a film of stickiness....tables, chairs, menus & condiments. Only saving grace was the service, which was just adequate. This used to be a great breakfast spot, but I suspect they may have had a change of ownership. Too bad.

Another place I really wanted to like but unfortunately it just didn't work out that way. Our server was pleasant enough, not all that attentive but that's not the concern. The main issue is the food. We ordered breakfast: biscuits, gravy, eggs, and bacon for me & the Cotati Scramble for my wife (consisted of chicken sausage, artichoke hearts, cheddar cheese, eggs, spinach, and potatoes) My biscuits were cold, hard, and quite brittle in an unpleasant way. The gravy was very bland and reminded me of middle school. Again, not a good reminder from a food perspective so I opted to heavily doctor with salt & pepper as well as copious amounts tabasco sauce underneath the 2 eggs over easy that I decided to slap on top of this concoction. My wife's dish wasn't as good as mine. The artichoke hearts overpowered everything, but the mix of ingredients was completely off from the start. It never really made sense eventhough it sounded like a good idea on the menu. Eggs had zero seasoning/flavor, cheddar was very bland, and it seemed like the solution the artichoke hearts came in was used for cooking: not good. The chicken sausage was actually pretty good! My gut tells me they'd be great but I couldn't tell amidst the odd mashup of the rest of the scramble. Potatoes were also cold, undercooked, and lacking any flavor until I again grabbed the tabasco. Overall we got the impression the cooks were simply cooking food they'd been told to cook, yet failing to taste what they send out. We didn't see a manager anywhere - just waitstaff and back of house staff. The part we found odd was how busy this place was. We'll give Redwood Cafe a shot next time but thus far the best tasting breakfast we've found in Rohnert Park thus far has been Big Daddy's on Golf Course & Country Club. Sorry Marvin's. I appreciate that you're a local joint, which is why we went there. We'd heard a couple good things but nothing more. I hope things change... -JQC

I went in and had breakfast here for the first time. The food was good but it was a little greasy. However, the water tastes bad, like it wasn't filtered. And the interior needs a little updating because it was a little old and worn. The service was great. I really did enjoy my omelette.

Marvin's is a casual friendly cafe serving fresh breakfast and lunch food. We go there often for one reason, they have coupons for "buy one menu item and 2 drinks and get the other menu item free". This is very helpful for families, local students and seniors. Second, dogs are allowed on the patio under the shade of umbrellas while we eat, many times the food server will bring out water for the dogs. The most important thing is the food is fresh not premade of frozen and the staff is friendly and will make substitutions of menu items when asked. Some of our favorite items are the taco salad and steak and eggs. The menu features many breakfast items, including french toast, pancakes, hash brown potatoes, a wide selection of omelets and other egg dishes. The lunch menu includes hamburgers, sandwiches, salads and specialty dishes all for a bargain price. The decor is country, valance curtains, a plate rail surrounding the upper part of the walls decorated with rooster statues and other country items which for Cotati fits right in. There are booths next to the windows with tables in the center and a counter with stools running almost the full length of the restaurant. They have a back room for more seating. Check it out sometime on a warm afternoon and enjoy a tall glass of iced tea. Would I tell my friends about Marvin's? Yes Would I go there again? Yes Is it expensive? No it's maybe the best deal in town. Friendly staff? Yes Dog friendly? Yes

We snagged the last empty table in the place when we here for breakfast. They were prompt in bringing the menus and drinks. I ordered a bacon and cheese omelet and my daughter ordered her standard huevos rancheros. While the portion sizes are generous, neither of us were impressed enough with the food itself that we would come back here again. Daughter practically had to saw her tortilla apart and the "cheddar" cheese in my omelet was no kind of cheddar cheese I've ever had before, it was tough (how can cheese be tough? Overcooked? Overly processed? I dunno) and a new shade of bright orange for the coloring crayon box. The hash brown potates weren't greasy - but they were only 3/4 of the way cooked. Service was efficient and that's probably the best I have to say about this place. 50/50 chance that I'd come back...but probably would explore other options first.

Only ever had one thing I didn't like. All other times I was happy with it. Chicken fried steak is what I normally get. It is diner food but knowing that its pretty good diner food.

Marvins is a friendly place with a nice selection of hearty breakfast dishes and very tasty sandwiches for lunch. I really like the chicken tamale lunch fo breakfast because is is not too spicy and it fills me up. I also go for the two wheat cakes with nuts and bananas for breakfast. The wait staff is outstanding.

Marvin's is the best! My husband and I go to Marvin's every weekend and my in-laws go every other week. We've included Marvin's in our weekend routine for almost two years now and every experience has been lovely. Liz and Erica are great servers and know us and our orders well. They watched my belly grow when I was pregnant and now they're watching our son as he grows--they feel like family to us. We joke that Marvin's is our son's third home (grandma and grandpa's is second). Service is always prompt (even when they're slammed) and the meal is always hearty and tasty. Prices are totally reasonable, especially with a coupon! They use as many fresh ingredients as they can and they even make their own jam, which is delicious! On Fridays, we're usually happy because 1) it's the weekend and 2) we know we'll be having Marvin's at some point.

Are you related to Marvin's in Petaluma? Your distant cousin, twice removed? I don't even believe THAT. You are a pale, weak, mere shadowy reflection of the Glory that is Petaluma Original Marvin's. Who do you think you are? Curious about the cluster of eateries in this little section of Cotati, we stumbled into Marvin's "bakery." An odd menu - turned out not to be in a good way - kept me from looking at the off-kilter metal signs everywhere. Not a one was straight. And it wasn't in an intentional/artistic way that these sat so crooked. I chose the shrimp salad after much debate and was greeted with a mound of iceberg lettuce. Icebergs are meant for one place, and one place only. Putting Leonardo DiCaprio out of his 3 hour misery. Spotty avocado, chewy mushrooms and bland sliced tomatoes adorned the plate. There were so many easy, obvious improvements that I didn't bother to finish. My fellow diner was met with much the same fate. Limp hash-browns fresh from the freezer with odd cooked salsa and sour cream on top. Oh yum. Don't get sucked in. Drive yourself 15 minutes south and experience the REAL deal.

We went to Marvin's for the first time after I had purchased a gift certificate from Restaurant.com . We arrived just before 7 AM. and received prompt service. The coffee was good, and there were a lot of different breakfast choices. I had the Strawberry French Toast, without whipped cream, and was surprised at the huge portions! It was very filling, and the strawberries tasted fresh rather than refrigerated. My son had the strawberry waffle and was very happy with his choice. The gift certificate was accepted without question, which was nice, sometimes I've received weird service after presenting the certificates at other restaurants. I will definitely keep Marvin's in mind the next time we want to have breakfast out.

Hours are a bit strange; we arrived around 3 shortly before the diner closed, so we took our lunch to go. Zucchini sticks were HUGE (a good surprise) and offered as an alternative to the bland fries that we also ordered. The melted sandwich my friend ordered was soggy and gross by the time we got home less than 10 min later, but my tuna melt was fabulous. A bit difficult to mess up a tuna sandwich anyway though, isnt it? =p Menu had a lot of options. Will try breakfast there, as I hear it is much better.

A favorite breakfast spot for us. Always consistant regarding food quality and service is always "spot on".Staff is always freindly and food served hot and coffee refills keep on coming.

I have eaten here twice, both times for breakfast. I believe they only do breakfast and lunch as it's a bakery and only open until 3pm. During the week, the crowd is mostly seniors, as it should be. In fact, I think both times I came here was on a Monday. I can't get out early on the weekends because I work, so it must have been. Yep. ANYWAY, their New York Strip Steak and Eggs is really good. My mom got the Sirloin or maybe Prime Rib and she said it was a little tough, and they had forgotten to cut off some of the really thick cartilage that can't be chewed, but otherwise it was pretty good. Their French Toast is like, Toasty, and they have a really nice wait staff. Plus, the little statue guy at the entrance who holds the newspapers is cute. The decor leaves something to be desired...I'm not a HUGE fan of roosters, and I honestly have seen them in just about every country-style breakfast place I've been in, plus the drapes are a little dusty and the chairs and booths could use a sprucing up. The bakery counter looks very nice, and one of these days I'll try one of their cheesecakes or pies. Hopefully the zombies won't get me first...

Three of us stopped here for lunch on our way back to the Bay area. The berry salad with fresh berries all over was great, so was the chicken salad. I had the beef dip sandwich. It was stacked and packed with slices of meet. I asked if they could add some grilled onions, which they happily did. It was delicious, as was the au jus dipping sauce.

I've been here a few times and was excited to see it added to the restaurant.com website. The food has always been good for me and my friends, never a complaint. The only thing I can really complain about this time around was how long it took to get our food, we waited at least 15-20 minutes after ordering to get our food and we didn't order anything super complicated. I will say, the strawberry and raspberry jam they make is to die for, I could have eaten the jam all by itself w/ a spoon. Today I ordered the Cotati Scramble that I thought would be a scramble, but it was an omlette? It was great none the less, big pieces of chicken sausage, yummy spinach and artichoke hearts, not too much cheese, just the way I like it. I look forward to the next time I venture here w/ the friends.

I have been to Marvin's several times for breakfast and the food is always delicious, the service is great. Recently I needed a meeting space for a small group and recalled Marvin's having a back room that was fairly private. For 2 months now my Meetup has been meeting in Marvin's back room for lunch every week and it has been fantastic! It is a very casual atmosphere, clean, but no frills, and the food has been great! The back room is down the hallway from the bathroom and is a completely separate room, so you do need to call ahead to reserve it so they can turn on the heat and set it up since it is basically 'overflow' seating but we love it. The soups are always very popular and I have brought home kids lunches for my kids and they love the chicken strips and fries. The fries are the thick dinner fries. Very good, simple place to eat. No need to dress up but you won't be disappointed in the food or service.

Don't waste your time. You could make better breakfast at home even if you don't know how to cook. Everything is undercooked cause they are always behind. The service is horrible and they really don't like the college crowd that is in Cotati. I would recommend they get new servers and cook.

I am not surer how i forget about this plisse so much but I do. I would love to go there more often but it never quite sticks in my memory. The few times i have gone it was a fun experience and the food was a decent. My easy over eggs were spot on, my toast was toasted, and my sausage was really good. The three star rating is mostly biased off the fact that i can never remember this place.

Been here twice now and I am satisfied, but not over excited. Marvin's is cute and quaint. Open from 7 to 3pm daily you got to catch it early, which you should since its a breakfast place. Cute little southern kitchen decor with limited seating. This place fills up on the weekends with all the Cotati locals (there isn't that much of us!) Its really the only breakfast place in town. Food is okay-good. Service is good.

I have been to Marvin's in Petaluma several time so I was expecting a certain level of service, ambiance and quality... This wasn't it. When I arrived there was plenty of tables open but they promptly set us by the other entrance, every time some one came in or out I was blasted with cold air (it was about 48° outside). In a time span of about 75 minutes, our water glasses were never refilled and our coffee was refilled once, and that was only because one of our group of 8 asked for it. Had to go find the waitress for jam and the check but, the food was ok.

My friend and I had breakfast there, he had the mexican eggs benedict, I had the biscuits and gravy. Food was pretty bland but edible, however the next day we both got really bad food poisoning, likely salmonella given the symptoms and duration. Never ever eating there again! I have never been so sick in my life, I had to go to the hospital for the vomitingand explosive diarrhea.

My ability to judge what constitutes tasty and affordable breakfast food may be forever damaged by the five years I spent living in New Jersey. Compared to the travesty that is most NJ diner breakfasts, Marvin's is excellent! My husband and I have eaten there twice. For basic eggs/bacon/hashbrowns/toast, I have no complaints. The homemade jam is delicious. (It's also awesome to finally be able to order sourdough toast again!) Haven't tried any of the non-breakfast items.

Standard diner with standard fare. We've had breakfast a couple of times. Nothing outstanding but good value if you don't want to cook.

There isnt too many places for breakfast in the cotati/Petaluma area and this is one of the few that i like. The food and service were both great. Its a very homie country feel.

My husband and I were looking for a place to eat after moving our son into his Sonoma State dorm. We happened to notice Marvin's on our way to the highway and took a chance. Were we glad we did! Spinach and mushroom omelette was fluffy and cooked to perfection. My cobb salad with smoked turkey was covered with tomatoes, onions, crumbled blue cheese, mushrooms and bacon. Delicious. Service was efficient and friendly. We'll definitely be back!

My wife and I eat here every week. Good food at a decent price. I don't recall having a bad meal here. Nice staff and consistently good food.

Had a omelet and potatoes. Little or no seasoning on the potatoes but the omelet was tasty.
