We went to Maria's on a Saturday evening, not knowing what to expect. We were greeted and seated promptly. The place is decorated nice and everything I could see was clean, including the restroom. Our server was very nice and quite attentive. We were served chips and salsa almost immediately after we were seated. Yes, the chips came in a plastic dish thing. Whoever said that was not authentic hasn't been to Mexico and seen the same type at thousands of restaurants. Anyway, our food was served in a timely manner. I had the carne asada, which was terrific. My wife had a quesadilla with spinach, which she enjoyed. Portions were fairly large, especially the quesadilla. They had a nice selection of bottled beers, including my beloved Dos Equis Amber. This location is very close to our home and we will surely become regulars.

After reading several of the reviews on here, I was apprehensive about trying it. We met my cousins there, they've been a couple of times and loved it. As I sat down at the table for 4, they were already seated, there were 3 baskets of chips and 3 bowls of salsa, which were very fresh and tasted good. I told them about reading reviews and that they were not so positive. 2 of us ordered #13 chile relleno and cheese enchilada with rice and beans, 1 person ordered the chimichanga, and the other person ordered the empanadas. Everything was very tasty, fresh and good. The red sauce on the enchiladas and chimi, and the green sauce on the rellenos was awesome! The beans and rice were good too. We tried the sopapillas for dessert and they were fantastic. The Wednesday special of buy 1 combo #1-13, get the second one for $1.49 is a GREAT deal. We will definitely be going back on Wednesday's for sure. I will be telling all my people about Maria's for sure!

My husband and I ate here yesterday. And we do not agree at all with the other two reviewers. The chips and salsa was great, but we didn't get the chips warmed. The food was ok and small in proportion. The atmosphere was nice and the service good. Food was subpar. I've had way better Mexican food elsewhere.

I am always a little nervous about trying new places. The family wanted to try Maria's. I wanted to keep an open mind. When I looked at the menu I thought the prices were really high. I began eating chips and salsa and could not believe how GOOD the salsa was. I had cheese enchiladas. When they brought my plate I was not optimistic about my meal. Boy was I fooled. The food was so good! Worth the higher price. I did not get a refill on my iced tea but the food was so good I was willing to overlook that. Maria's is now my favorite restaurant. I had mouth surgery and am on a liquid diet for two weeks. I can't wait to celebrate eating real food again at Maria's. I sure hope you stay in business and am confused by so many poor ratings. Love this place. Left overs were just as good the next day. Rice and beans incredibly tasty. See you soon.

Great little place with very tasty food and friendly service. Excellent option if you want to try something different from the generic Me Tortilla around the block :) Portions are generous and prices are fair. They also have lunch specials everyday.

Love, love, love this place! My husband and I come to Maria's often. The server knows us now and is ready to serve us our drinks when we sit down. The food is great! My favorite is the cheese enchiladas...so good! My husband tries a new dish almost every time and loves them all. The food is always fresh and hot (watch the plates). Highly recommend this place!

I was in the mood for an authentic carne asada burrito, so I decided to try this restaurant due to it's reviews. Bad idea. The most expensive burrito I've had in my entire life. The burrito itself is $8.75, plus you have to pay about $2.75 extra for rice and beans and another 2.75 for sour cream? Are you kidding me? Whatever, I really wanted a burrito so I went for it. I also ordered chips and salsa, another $4 bucks. Total came out to almost $20 for a burrito, chips and salsa. Seriously? The burrito was alright....put it like this, the chips and salsa were better than the burrito.

Very DELICIOUS!! Huevos rancheros and menudo are a home run!! First time here and will definitely be coming back!!

Ordered the Chilirelleno and cheese enchilada plate. It's very delicious and the service was great.

Just left after having lunch here for our 1st time. I came with my sibling and infant nephew. The food was VERY GOOD (not greasy) as Hispanics ourselves we were all satisfied. My brother and sister each got a burrito along with a shrimp cocktail and I got the posole and I was very happy with it. Chips were fresh & hot and constantly refilled when low. Our waitress was very kind! We will most definitely be back!

Good Mexican food and drinks. Happy to have this place down the street, have been a couple times usually on a Sunday and I like that they have a brunch menu. Honestly anyone can find something they like on the menu. I tried their chile poblano and enchilada plate and a salad another time. Both delish!

  • Mike M.

Great food and the best service I have had in a long time. Drinks were never empty, chips and salsa was always full, waitress was nice and every server that walked by was helpful.

    (5)
  • Ricki W.

My husband and I were very disappointed. The service wasn't good at all. Some of the waitresses were sitting in a back booth chatting while we waited patiently for our drinks to be refilled and our dinners to be served. The food was less than desirable as well. We will definitely not be returning to this place. There are so many wonderful place to eat in Corona, however, this isn't one of them unfortunately.

As a latina and married to a Mexican..I can honestly say, "We have had better." Husband and I wanted to try since it had opened. Very nice place and we might be back as a date night, but our kids did not care for it. Kinda pricey for mexican food, but in their defense the main dishes can classified in the "gourmet style" category. I would just prefer a little more options as sides vs the simple rice and beans. 2.5/3 stars for me.

Me and my wife went to this lovely little family inspired family restaurant and it was fantastic service and the food was great I would recommend it to every body I know

Great food at a great price! My family went in on a Friday night and were greeted at the door by some amazing smells! The menu had many options and all of it was at a great price. I had the tostada salad with carne asada and it was delicious. The shell was fresh and the steak was cooked perfectly. All of the ingredients were well proportioned. The salsa and guacamole were wonderful. My friend had the chicken tortilla soup. I got a chance to taste it and it had good flavor, but it was only luke warm. The chips were fresh and plentiful and my server kept my tea full. All in all, it was a good dining experience.

Four stars for the food only! I recommend you trying it its pretty delicious.

  • Victor P.

Food was ok but the service was very horrible. We did not get the great. The hostess was in workout clothes, the second one look like she just woke up in jeans and a ragged black shirt with her hair a mess. The waitress got my order wrong. Very disappointed with the authentic Ness of the overall restaurant. To bad restaurant looks nice but the service will bring regular customers back.

  • Cryssy M.

I've given this restaurant 3 tries and it gets worse Everytime!! For starters we ordered 2 Coronas and they were hardly cold. The guacamole that we ordered as an app was rancid and when we told our server she had nothing to say about it! She acted as if she already knew this and took it away. No apology...nothing! The tacos that we ordered were disgusting, flavorless and greasy. We didn't bother to ask for a manager since we noticed she wasn't interested in work so we paid our bill and will NEVER be back again. Great or even Just Good Mexican food seems to be rare in this town...

    (1)
  • Elisa D.

Went in for lunch. Only 3 tables there. We waited 22 min. for any acknowledgement after asking. The waitress helped customers that came in after us. That's when we walked. NEVER AGAIN!!

    (1)
  • Nick P.

Great food and great salsa....but if your in a rush its not the place to go. They are not even busy.....and it took us about 45 minutes to get our food. Now we're waiting.....and waiting for someone to give us our check so we can pay.

    (3)
  • Jim V.

Our first time there. The food was very good. Our server was attentive without hovering. She kept the drinks full without having to track her down. I don't remember her name, but we'll be back and I'm sure she'll still be there. I had the fish tacos, my wife had the cheese enchiladas. Portions were big, neither of us finished. The price was decent. There's a good Wednesday special where you buy the first combo at regular price and the 2nd is $1.49 (I think??) I wanted the taco plate so we didn't get the special. Very happy to have found a new place close to home.

I have eaten here for the last time. I first tried this restaurant and thought it was ok not bad and the decor was nice so i went back a couple of months later and it was ok nothing memorable but the place was cute and clean. I went back several months later and the food is really substandard microwave and poor quality, oily and just cheap food.

    (1)
  • Micki B.

This was pretty good. The food was tasty and authentic. The salsa was particularly good. Lots of cilantro.

  • Danica S.

Maria's has the BEST Mexican food in Corona! My husband, two children, and I eat here at least twice a month. The staff is warm and efficient and the salsa is amazing! And to top it all off the atmosphere is perfect for a family dinner. I highly recommend this delicious restaurant!

    (5)
  • Elaine M.

We ate at Marias Sunday, chips and salsa were decent, the guacamole was ok but the steak tacos were really bad. I rarely send food back but the tacos were so fatty and had no flavor I couldn't eat them. My husband had a chili relleno, he said it was rubbery and had no flavor and that it was the worst chili relleno he ever had. They did bring me some good shrimp tacos after I sent the steak tacos back. I wanted this place to be better cause it's close to us but sadly we will not return. Too bad

  • Carol P.

First time here and will definetely be back. They have soy tacos! And they were good! Excited to see actual vegetarian, not just beans and rice, options. Salsa was very good. Service was good and we never felt rushed to give up our table even as the place filled up. This will top my "go to" list whenever I'm in Corona.

    (4)
  • Lindsay S.

Chips and salsa are awesome. Service is not rushed which can be nice and relaxing but not if you are hungry. I enjoyed the chicken flautas served with beans and rice. Plenty to take some home. My husband got the fajitas, fresh and delicious. Each meal comes with soup or salad. Plates are $10-$20. Ok prices for the amount of food and nice environment.

    (4)
  • Shannon H.

The food here is amazing. Very tasty and authentic right down to the tortillas :) it's very nice inside and out. I would of given 5 stars but the service was not the best ... I think the girls were very new. They were very sweat but need more practice. Other then that it's perfect here :)

There are far better options in Corona. Dishes tasted generic and out the can rice and beans

The Albondigas soup is a joke. It's obvious the meatballs came from a bag in the frozen food aisle. Yuck. Not going back. I've given this place 3 chances.

Food is awesome, waitresses are easy on the eyes and prices are ok. Try the Chili verde

  • Molly B.

I've always enjoyed going to Marias however; after surgery I craved Caldo de Pollo. My daughter picked up the order and I must say, I was extremely disappointed. It seemed mushy with mostly cabbage and shredded chicken topped off with guacamole in a large to go cup. What a true disappointment.

    (2)
  • Brian H.

Best albondigas soup! Great chips and salsa. Excellent Pollo Azteca. Great place for lunch or dinner. Skip the crowds at the chain restaurants and get better food.

Me and my family come here every Wednesday for their half off special. The price is amazing it only comes out to about $25-30 for 4 people! The food is great

  • Rick L.

Very competently made Mexican food. It's not amazing, it's not horrible. What it does very well is satisfy your craving for good Mexican food in South Corona. Chips are served warm and salsa is served chilled. Both easy on the stomach (not greasy and not overly spicy). Lunch specials are OK, you get the same dinner portions but get a free soup or salad before 3pm. Both their taquitos and chimicangas are loaded with meat. You can substitute refried beans with boiled and fried rice with steamed rice (although the last time I ordered steamed, it was stiff and overcooked). Seems like they have a regular clientele with most of these taking their food to go. Except for their Wednesday night $1.50 entrée promo ending on October 15th, I've got no real complaints.

The Mrs. and I are two-time veterans at Maria's. The first visit was good, but the second was great! I cannot remember the name of the meal I had the first time, but it was a baked chicken dish with melted cheese, avocado, olives and a tomato sauce base of some sort; I enjoyed it. The Mrs. tends to order garden variety Mexican dishes that will taste good at most Mexican restaurants, so describing her chimichanga from our first visit will not make this post. On our second visit, I ordered sizzling steak & shrimp fajitas, which were nothing short of spectacular. Fajitas tend to be a garden variety Mexican dish as well, but these fajitas were the best I ever remember eating. It was a generous portion of steak & shrimp mixed with the perfect amount of onions & bell peppers all cooked equally perfect. The entrée was seasoned well and especially tender. Three piping hot ideally sized tortillas, and a scoop of great tasting guacamole accompanied and accentuated the dish. I was thoroughly satisfied! Again, the wife ordered one of her old faithfuls, but she didn't seem to rave about the shredded beef taco & cheese enchilada plate; she ate it though. The ambiance in this restaurant was nice, and the decor enhanced it. All that was missing was some easy listening music (Spanish or otherwise) at a respectable decibel level, and it'd be the perfect quaint restaurant for a first date or romantic dining experience with your significant other. Now, the only reason I gave Maria's Mexican Kitchen 3 stars and not 4 or 5, is because the rice & beans (more the rice than the beans) did not meet the authenticity standard to be served along side the chicken dish from our first visit, and by no means served beside the impeccable fajitas. In my opinion rice & beans at a Mexican restaurant have to compliment the main dish, but Maria's did not achieve that important prerequisite. Don't get me wrong, they weren't unpalatable; they just did not measure up. Be very carful, the entrées are served on extremely hot plates. The servers do tend to give adequate warnings. Lastly, I felt the meals were fairly priced and the service was more than adequate.

This is the second location they have opened. We used to eat at the Original one in Woodcrest called- Mexican Kitchen. Family run business. We have been eating at that one for over 15 years. We love it there. New place- food was the same as the original one. We love the food- especially the green salsa. As for service- it's new. So we offered some grace. The staff is young and friendly- just young and needing some experience. Not bad just not great. We will certainly keep going for the food and probably order take out a lot more often.

Too bad you can't give zero!!! We sat for 20 minutes, it was like we were invisible. People seated after us were helped. We left and will not be back! Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

The thing I miss most about New Mexico is the sopapillas served hot with honey with all Mexican dishes. OMG how I love sopapillas. To surprise me one day, my husband started calling Mexican Restaurants to see if they made them, and Maria's said yes, so he took me after church for brunch. They make them as a dessert item, but we ordered with our meal with honey just like home. This would bring us back even if the food was not good, but the food was great too. It is right down the street from our church so we went for brunch. My Huevas Rancheros was great. I don't remember what hubby ordered but there were no bad comments from our table. The service was good too. Highly recommend.

I took 4 of my sisters on April 26 and I was so embarrassed. I heard many good things about Maria's but that day they must have just had a bad day. The hostess seated us and walked back and forth into the kitchen with her waist length hair down and not in a ponytail or anything. Finally, our drink order was taken and delivered. The waitress took our food order and skipped one of us. We brought it to her attention and she basically shushed us up as she just moved on to the next table to take their order. Her long hair was also down and not restrained in any fashion. The albondigas soup was gross. The broth was yellow-green and had no flavor. Meatballs had no rice, no cilantro...it was just meatball with cabbage and carrots. The food was not tasty that day. As our plates and bowls were finished they were not removed from the table so I just started removing them myself. We brought cupcakes for a birthday and pictures and had no room to enjoy due to half-eaten and empty plates. We took boxes for the uneaten food but sadly we all threw them away at my house. Not one of us was happy about our food or experience. The restaurant was very clean and pleasant inside. I hope this was just a fluke but after all the problems I doubt I will be back.

My Fiance and I went into Maria's just on a whim, and thank god we did because the inside of the restaurant was very clean and nice. The waitress was nice and the service was excellent. I ordered a Burrito with Beans, Cheese and Shredded beef inside with Red Sauce on Top.(Wet). The burrito was amazing. Very authentic food. My Fiance had the cheese enchilada's and love it. Everything was very good. Food was excellent. The service was great. Finally a Good Mexican Restaurant in Corona.

Love this place! They have the best Shrimp and avacado salad! The Manager is great, and we have our favorite servers! Service was horrible one night and they quickly moved to make it right. Can't say enough about this place! Wish I could give it 10 stars!

Went for lunch today. The decor is very well thought out and everything was exceptionally clean. They obviously spent quite a bit of time on the faux painted ceiling, tables, chairs etc. to give it a very classy Mexican restaurant style. Definitely nice enough for a casual business lunch or date night. They bring you complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were warm and very crispy without being greasy and I could have eaten them alone. The salsa is definitely home made, chunky, and has just the right amount of spicy heat. I had the El Toro Burrito $8.95 (chili verde, pork, cheese, green sauce). Although it does not state it on the menu it does comes with pork inside. The pork is not stringy or ground like those cheap places, but it had larger chunks of what I could best describe as being from a Sunday pot roast. It was super tender and cooked just right. The chili verde was on the medium spicy side which is borderline hot for me, so if you have kids (mine won't eat anything spicy) or like your Mexican food mild you may want to ask for it in a mild sauce. The chili verde had cilantro, onions, soft green chili slivers, peppers, and several other spices which complimented the meat perfectly. The mild "green sauce" poured over the top was the best part of the dish and I scooped it and the cheese up with my remaining chips. It has a very smooth tangy tomatillo flavor and is simply delicious. Make sure that you order your burrito as it is listed on the menu (wet) so you don't miss out. My only suggestion (if there has to be one) is that because the plate came out at what seemed 400 degrees, the customer should be warned or it should come on a charger plate. I know that this was simply from the final melting of the cheese on to the dish and I liked it that way, but in this case it was left a little too long and the cheese and green sauce were near boiling. I know how can you complain about hot food, but again if you have kids be warned. I did not have dessert but saw another table get the "deep fried ice cream" and it looked delicious. It comes in one of those large tulip sundae dishes and looked large enough to share between two people. The service was attentive and very friendly. They also have a kids menu.

The service was ok. The food is overpriced, you can get way better down on 6th street for half the price. The chicken flautas were horrible, dried out with hardly and chicken in them...

  • Jeff S.

First time diners. Off to a bad start when it took almost 10 minutes for a server to get to our table even though 2 of them and the hostess were in the server station just chatting away. Things got better as we enjoyed the tasty homemade salsa & delicious Tortilla Soup. This turned to disappointment again when we got our dinner. My tamale was mostly Masa with little meat or flavor. The cheese enchilada was bland. The fish for the fish taco & chicken for the Chicken Azteca were both overcooked and the sauce for the Azteca was watery & bland. Overall very undistinctive & expensive Mexican food - $53 for 3 people! Save your money and get better food at half the price at Mi Tortilla down the street OR pay the same amount and get incredible Mexican food at Luna's Mexican Kitchen about a Mike away. Now THAT'S great Mexican food!

  • Courtney M.

The only reason I give two stars is for the ambiance.. The lighting and decor is wonderful. I love authentic Mexican food and this place is far from it, bland and amateur. The salsa is tomato pasty, the beans aren't flavorful, the rice tastes microwaved, and the cheese plastic . My meal was thrown together with little care. I was very disappointed. I was really hoping to find a new Mexican food place close to home .. This will not be it.

Carol P., thank you for your reply. In response to the restaurant adjusting to the rhythms of customer traffic, my family got there for dinner at 8PM, immediately following my son's open house night at school. There were only 2 other tables dining at that time, making a total of 3 tables! I watched the 2 waitresses sit at the booth towards the back of the restaurant and chat while we all dined, waiting for a refill on our drinks & chips (which my son did ask for) that never came. When the waitress did finally come to bring out check, I had to push aside my plates in order to sign the reciept, ridiculous. When you say that you can assure me that your wait staff do in fact care for their jobs, I can't be certain of that, at least the 2 that were working the evening of August 21. I too, as a single mother of 2, have rent, a family to support, school tuition, among many other expenses. An even better reason to believe that I should at least be waited on properly since I choose to spend my hard earned money on this restaurant! As you can see, I hardly ever write reviews, bad ones at that. But this really struck a chord with me. I wanted to have en enjoyable experience and let everyone know about it. I really do hope that you can either get new wait staff or train your current staff to provide superior customer service. In this day in age it is paramount for repeat business. In reading the other reviews, the horrible customer service seems to be a trend. If this problem is remedied, we just might give it a try again later on.

This place is amazing! I came here to celebrate my son's accomplishment. The food was deliciously authentic, the atmosphere had a warm feeling, and the service was just right. I will definitely return and recommend. Perfect place for a family gathering or a romantic date.

COZY My chili relleno was one of the best I have ever had. Husband was not impressed with their asada I suggest that you try it mid week when they had their special deal. I think it is buy one meal and get the other one for $1 50 (or something like that). I would call for details. We had good service.

My boyfriend and I went here as a last minute thing to do in town while running errands. We recently moved out of Corona and forgot to try this place before we left so we gave it a shot. I absolutely loved it! Enchilada and shredded beef taco combo. The shell on the taco was soft but with a crunch. SO good. My boyfriend got the empanadas with jack cheese...he loved them. He's a corona Kid and Miguel's was always his spot so it was hard to change for him. Décor was awesome! I was really impressed and so was he. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

For some reason, the so-so reviews I had read awhile back kept me from trying Maria's before now. My husband & I decided to try it for date night last night, and were very pleased. I love the décor & ambience, the food was really good, and the service was great. I had a margarita, tortilla soup (probably one of the best I've had), and picado w/ shrimp. Portions were very big, I saved the rest for lunch the following day. My husband had the carne asada nacho appetizer for his entrée and thought it was great. The prices were good too. My only (minor) complaint would be the doorbell chime that goes off whenever someone enters/exits the restaurant...but that's certainly not enough to keep us from coming back!

We love this place and have visited on several occasions since their opening a few months ago. Can't understand some of the negative comment especially about the chips! Our server never let the basket get too low and the salsa is over the top. We even have ordered for pickup and the chips that were left over we ate 5 days later and they were as fresh as the first night! The tacos are not your typical fast food variety. The shells are lightly fried and come with cheese lettuce and tomato (not something you get at most Mexican restaurants today due to cost) and we love the ground beef (enchilada also!!!). The tamale is hand made on the premise with the lightest masa I have ever tasted. The chile relleno has a wonderful green sauce that is very authentic and you can actually taste the chile pepper. And last but not least, the Michelada! What a great refreshing drink. A sleeper for takeout meals that will soon be the talk of the town.

After reading some of the reviews for this restaurant, I had to double check that we all were commenting on the same place. Four of us dined at Maria's for dinner on May 23. We were hoping that a quality Mexican food restaurant had finally popped up within walking distance of our house. I can sadly say that IT HAS NOT. They started us with a small bowl of free chips & salsa. They never came back to refill the bowl which went quickly. I had the beef fajitas, and they were the worst I've ever had from ANY Mexican restaurant. The beef had absolutely NO flavor whatsoever, and came out chopped up into little pellets instead of nice strips like everyone else prepares them. They weren't on a sizzling platter like other places have, and weren't all that hot when they arrived. The flour tortillas were soggy and flimsy. Sadly, the best thing on that plate was the beans. This meal was a FAIL. Two other guests had tacos. The taco meat totally had NO flavor and the meat and the shell was cold. The shells tasted like they were from a package, though they appear to be made there. The only redeeming value was the lettuce was fresh. My wife grades Mexican restaurants by their tacos, and she gave these a "D". Last guest had a chicken burrito. Again, NO flavor from what little bit of meat was in this burrito. At one point, he even questioned if there WAS any meat in there. I told him if it was as "flavorful" as my fajitas, he wouldn't notice anyway. Service was average at best. It wasn't a real busy night, yet the server had to be reminded to bring sweetener for the iced tea. She also asked if we wanted dessert before midway through our meal, which I find tacky. Got the old "No hurry" from her when she presented the check before we were finished with our meal. Never came back and asked us again in we needed anything. We hoped for the best from this location, but was sorely disappointed in them. Needless to say we won't be returning.

I usually only write reviews if I have a restaurant experience I loved; Maria's definitely made the cut! The atmosphere has a casual and homey authentic Mexican flare. The young and energetic servers give excellent service! They foresaw our needs before we asked, including providing refills and prebussing our dishes. The best part about Maria's I've saved for last: the FOOD. My mom and I went together and couldn't decide between a few items since they all looked good. We ended up sharing so we could try more things. We shared the sizzling chicken fajitas, a salad that came with it, a ground beef enchilada, and a shredded beef taco. Before the meal starts you get chips and salsa (not spicy but still flavorful). We also received beans and rice with our fajitas...so yeah, we might have ordered too much food but everything was super delicious and very fresh! We will definitely be coming back (and maybe work out before so we don't have eaters remorse)! ;)

Food was really good for the price. We'll definitely go back. Not many customers in and about 4-5 girls working service was really slow. The margaritas are made with sweet sugary mixes. Not very good.

It's fair. Salsa is ok, beans and rice ok and my chorizo and eggs were ok. My daughter really liked the the enchilada and albondigas soup. The decor is awesome!!! I do want to return and try other things on the menu.

I'm sorry but this is not Mexican food whatsoever. I ordered a carnitas burrito no flavor and topped with yellow cheese, really? Real authentic Mexican food is not served with yellow cheese. I also ordered albondiga soup, wow what a disappointment. The broth tasted like Top Ramen LOL!!! The albondigas (meatballs) tasted like the ones from IKEA!!!!! Place looks really nice, but looks are not gonna satisfy my hunger. Prices are way to high really $13.00 for a burrito. Let see how long this place stays around before it shuts down. If you authentic food, put me in the kitchen and I'll whip up some of my mothers home cooked meals. Peace!!!!

This place is so cute! The decor is so cheerful. It's bright and sunny and it provides a nice little escape. The food is pretty good for Corona. It's fresh and tasty and the chips and salsa are awesome. The wait staff is awesome too!

OMG, where to begin? I was a little curious to try this place out and was super hungry so we headed over there after baseball. My wife and 2 of the kids beat me over there and they went in to get a table. The hostess grabbed 3 menus and headed in. When my wife said there's be 2 more people joining them the hostess actually seemed inconvenienced! She didn't ask them if they wanted drinks or anything. She plopped the menus down on the table and simply walked away while they sat down after the fact. When I got there with our oldest son, there was no one at the front door to greet us. I saw the rest of the family already seated and went in to join them. I open up the menu... Holy Cow. Crazy expensive. $9 for a taquito plate? $3 for a soft drink? Even the kids menu, which had things like hamburgers and pb&j seemed like a lot at $6. After looking over the crazy expensive menu, we realized 10 minutes had gone by and not a soul had come by to take a drink order, say hi, nothing. We got up and left. On our way out the front door there was some lady wearing a Mexican dress surfing the net on her phone. I said "see ya later!". I was shocked when the worker didn't even look up at us as we all filed out of there one by one. Goodbye Maria. I'm sure you'll join the ranks of Camile's and the Twisted Gourmet as businesses that have failed miserably at one of the busiest intersections in town.

Been going to the Riverside one for a while and when I saw that they opened one in Corona, I wanted to check it out. WOW! Haven't reviewed the other one so I'll review this one. Wednesday Special The deal starts at 4pm, but I got there early once at like 3:50 and they still gave it to me which was nice of them. It's of course a "dine in only" special, so they have to do regular price for a "takeout" order. I would say it's best to eat the food fresh anyway. Try out a combo. If you're skeptical, Wed is the time to go. They're all pretty good. I would recommend the #2 Enchilada Rancheras the #8 Beef Chimichanga or the #11 Enchilada and Shredded Beef Taco. All combos come with Rice and Beans. To switch out shredded beef with chicken or ground beef is ok at no extra charge. Just let em know and there you go. I mean 1.49 people! Prob the best deal in town if you're trying to get more bang for your buck. No substitutions for the special meats though I think. Specialty Plates are pretty good too. The Flautas Especiales, the recently changed sizzling Fajitas, and the Carnitas. All come with a choice of either tortilla soup, albondigas, or a salad with your choice of dressing. Their wet burritos are really good too. Very good size and fill you up. Also the Nachos con Carne Asada Yum! They do have Cold Beers, only bottled though. You have to check out the decorations. I like the Riverside one, but here it's so vibrant! Really outdone themselves here. I'll try to come back again but I do live closer to the Riverside one so we'll see when we meet again. Servers are all good in their own ways. What's great is that everyone puts their personality into how they work which makes them stand out IMO. I like that one guy's ties/earrings and I like the way the girls laugh and seem to have fun working. Great environment. Great workers. Hope it does well.

The ambiance is great. The food is alright. My husband liked the chile relleno. Everything else was good but not great. I was not too happy with the service. We waited a long time for them to take initial drink order, and the waitress was not very friendly. And no beer on tap, which my husband looks forward to at Mexican restaurants.

Fresh hot chips!!! Need I say more?!?! Everything was delicious! Definitely mine and my coworkers new favorite lunch spot! Can't wait to try more things in the menu :-)

I think this restaurant is over priced. $14.95 for one carnitas Sope, rice and beans and if you don't want carnitas they charge a fee to substitue it. I don't mind paying a higher price for a good meal but I expect the quality to be good not just reheated food. We definatly won't be back.

Definitely only 3 stars if even that. Service was horrible. My friend got her soup even before we had gotten our drinks. People had to wait several minutes to get seated. we never got a refill on our drinks til it was time to leave. The table next to us had to ask a second time for their waters and chips/salsa. Salsa is just ok... Large chunks of onions were annoying. Tasted almost like spicy v8. Food is ok, doesn't really taste authentic but it's good for generic Mexican food. The decor is cute though. And prices are a little high for what you get.

I wanted to try this because i love mexican food, ifs close to home and help out local business. I had a combo plate chili relleno, tamale and enchilada. The relleno was ok too much breading. The tamale was dry, good thing they smothered it in a red sauce. The beans were dry an salty. The chips and salsa are good and so was the service. Don't think I will go back, too many other really good mexican restaurants around.

I was so hoping that the second time visit here would be a better experience than the first but UGG. The food is bad and the employees are really lacking. I am so very sad as this is such a nice walk from the house but I wont go back a third time,

The decor in this place is WOW! Had dinner last night on their Weds. Night Buy 1 Combo and get the 2nd for only $1.49. Service was fantastic and very attentive. The free chips (baked and warm) and salsa are great and when we ran out they brought more. The Horchata drink was the best I ever had. The Empanaditas De Camaron and Cheese Enchilda was so flavorful and seasoned perfect. The Guacamole was fresh made and the Sour Cream is the Mexican cream. The perfect end was the Sopapillas which were the topping to a wonderful new place that really knows how to treat the customer and taste buds.

It's Saturday night and my wife and I had just walked out of Urban Thai in which I just gave a bad review so it's only right that I review this place as well. Was a little skeptical at first because most restaurants at that location struggle a little and some of the posts reported lack of authenticity. Well my first reaction is if you want authentic, any one on 6th St will do but my favorite is Borrego Grill on Border next to Stater Bros. But back to this place. Unlike that Thai place we were greeted by the host with choose any table you want. Since it was late, there were plenty which is just what we needed. My wife always measures her pallet based on its chile Relleno. It was pretty good and rivals Miguel's. I always order Tacos and got the fish and Carnitas. Not used to having lettuce, tomato and cheese on a soft taco but it wasn't bad, just different. Like others said, the plate was HOT and seemed like it would not cool down. Took me a few minutes to pick and bite into my taco without burning my tongue. But the fish was well seasoned and tasty and I really liked the Carnitas because they were not too salty like most places. The price was a little high I thought for two tacos, R and B and a tortilla soup which was the thickest T soup I ever had but not bad. The portions were good and my wife had to take half her Relleno home and a chicken taco. It's always nice to see Horchata and Jamaica drink on the menu and the wine Margarita my wife drank, well, it's not tequila but it'll do. The service was attentive, tag team style probably because we were the last ones there. I did notice the young (high school?) girls did spend a lot of time in the last booth by the kitchen giggling and eating which doesn't bother me unless I'm not served right. Curious to see at busier night or time. Although it didn't seem like there was anyone in charge other than the waitresses running around. All in all, I'm giving a generous 4 stars. Next time I'll take my adult kids to see what they think and go from there for more visits. Good job for the first time. Hope not to be disappointed the next time based on the little tidbits.

My family and I have been regulars over the past three months due to the quality and the service we have always received. Until this business opened in Corona, we would frequent their other location in Riverside when possible which has quite the local following. In time as word gets out, a local following in Corona will come to support this location as well.

I decided to try this place out since it was near by, when I arrived I waited to be seated it felt like forever. I couldn't help but notice dirty dishes in 3 different tables as I still waited to be seat finally I was seated surrounded by these dirty tables, the worst part was they remained their until I finished. my food by the way tasted blad I was really disappointed, my waitress didn't seem to have any experience what so ever She was inattentive with filling up my drinks, nor bringing us our silverware, they are overly priced with small portions. I will not be coming back to this place. IT SUCK!

Service was excellent. Location was very clean and inviting. The decor was very pleasent. I had the carneasada plate. The meat was salty and seemed greasy. The plate was ok. The plate it self was hot but the food was not equally temperature hot, it was colder. The kids really enjoyed the enchilladas plate.

I have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant forever in Corona and was excited when this restaurant opened. After seeing the one really bad review I was nervous to try Maria's but decided to give it a shot anyway and I'm glad I did. The waitstaff was excellent and service was quick. We started with their free chips and salsa and they were amazing. I could have skipped dinner and filled up on those. Between my husband and I we used almost 4 bowls of salsa and two bowls of chips, however the waitstaff kept bringing us more and didn't seem at all annoyed that 2 people were eating enough chips and salsa for 6. For dinner I ordered a combo of a shredded beef taco, cheese enchilada and beans and rice. The enchilada was perfectly cooked and they didn't skimp on the cheese. However be aware that their red sauce is a little different. It was good, but not exactly what I'm used to. My husband, who doesn't normally like red sauce, tried it and loved it. He said it tasted like it had chili peppers in it, which might account for the different taste, but as I said it was good. The shredded beef taco had a good amount of meat and the shell tasted fresh and home-made. My only complaint would be that the meat was a little under seasoned for my taste, but good other than that. My husband ordered the El Toro burrito and enjoyed it. He said the pork had a great flavor. However, he was not a fan of the green sauce. It wasn't bad, but was a little thick and a little plain. He put some salsa on his burrito and then said it was great. We will be going back to try some more of the items on the menu and I have high hopes that I have finally found a good Mexican restaurant in corona. If you like Mexican food you should give Maria's a try!

We liked this place. The tortilla soup was great. Love the salsa and fresh chips. The lunch special comes with soup or salad and rice and beans. The tortillas in the enchiladas were thicker than I've had before but were very tasty.

Was here twice in the same day. Lunch: Takeout order for a Carne Asada Burrito and a combination plate with the enchilada and chile relleno. Added on chips and salsa and a chicken taco to the order as well. The service was prompt and while I waited I was given an offer for a water while I waited and some chips and salsa, perfect way to pass the time. The service was quick and they even noted an estimated time frame to get the order cooked and served. Getting the meal back, the portions were large, fresh and tasty, the carne asada avoided being burned or tough, it had the optional extras included and in the take out tin it was like a mammoth in there. Had to knife and fork it but it was completely worth it, couldn't finish because the huge portion but it was satisfying without any fallout after. The combination plate was equally as good, fresh beans, great rice and the enchilada wasn't small or skimped on. The chile relleno was great, cooked well and wasn't too hot, as a whole it was enjoyable and equally large in portion size. Given the price it was a great deal and very filling, in the area there's a lack of actual restaurants, just a lot of take out and pizza places. It's a welcome change and the quantity and quality of the food is satisfying. The later trip that evening was simply to try out the dessert, the El Panesito was delicious, generous poritions of ice cream and the strawberries were amazing. Actually was a bit much to attempt to finish off but well worth it, the service was good with the server coming back often to check the drink levels and check on refreshing anything that needed to be hit including the chips and salsa. Speaking of that again, if you get the takeout chips and salsa... my goodness you get a ton and they're fresh and warm. More than you tend to get at many other spots around the region. I'll be visiting again especially as it's just down the street. Glad we finally got a formal dining area in this region. Hopefully they're able to tune in with the crowd and continue making headway with the restaurant.

Worst place ever! My first time there, I walked in and ordered to go.. I told them I would be right back, walking to Juice it Up to get a drink,. No problem.. 5 minutes later I walk in to pick up my " to go order " The girl that greets me says, AFTER I tell her I have a to go order.. No outside drinks allowed. I said, Oh no I'm just picking up an order. She said well you can't have outside drinks in here. HUH??? I wish I would have said OK well you can throw away the food I ordered 5 minutes ago.. I was in shock! I said OK, well I will leave as soon as you give me my to go order.. I seriously think she wanted me to stand outside and wait for my order.. Aside from that ordeal the food was NOT good at all.. Not even the rice. Your better off driving 2 miles down the road to MIGUEL'S. They have great food and friendly service.. I was excited to try this new place, bad move!!

Terrible customer service. I now can see why there was only 4 tables of customers. Will never return. After reading the other reviews, I guess not much has changed. Have already told people not to waste there time or money!!! Wish you could rate this place zero stars.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
