Yum Yum Yum. Enjoyed a steak burrito for lunch and was very impressed. It was To Go so I couldn't do the "wet" version but that's planned for the next trip. The Super Burrito was the perfect size for a guy with a decent appetite and had decent flavor - good quantity of sour cream and avocado. I have to see if they have a spicy salsa next time since the standard salsa was very mellow. Tried some fresh tortilla's while I was there - they were pressing their own! Very light and tasty. Got there on a Wednesday about 1145a for lunch and timed it perfectly! Yup, its on the list for a 2nd trip and likely many more!

I've been here many times on my lunch break. If you eat in, you'll definitely leave smelling like the food they prepare, as the kitchen is not completely walled off from the dining area so the aromas of the kitchen stick to you. Their wet carne asada burrito is the one. I love the (somewhat) spicy sauce they use to smother the burrito and the dish comes with fresh avocado. ($10~) I've had their small sized tacos and they're pretty good, decently priced as well. (3 for $5~) I've had the Diablo shrimp dish as well ( or at least I think that's what it was called. ) Good flavors, comes with rice and beans and tortillas. ($12~)

Excellent staff and customer service! (Especially if you speak their language and joke around a bit) Family owned and operated it seems like. Food was great too and the price, outstanding! Definitely recommend

Dont let the store front fool you. This place has been in the same location for twenty years. With original receipes and kick back atmosphere, this place is a must go to when in the area. This place is a little difficult to find at first, but dont get discouraged. You will be greatly rewarded for your journey once you get inside. I had the wet burrito, ceviche tostada, and the menudo. Its very reasonable priced and the complimemtary salsa is made to order. Very tasty. I used it on pretty much anything I ate. I usually don't get wet burritos but this one stood out and was highly recommend for a reason. I ordered the carne asada burrito which had rice, pinto beans I would highly reccomend this place to anyone who loves Mexican food. I will be back soon. Stayed tuned for how other items on the menu taste.

First of all, we had huge hopes for Taqueria La Soledad. We researched Yelp mercilessly for the absolute best Mexican food in Concord, where we recently stayed while on vacation. We are huge fans of hole in the wall restaurants and intentionally seek them out, especially while traveling. Taqueria La Soledad really is a hole in the wall spot, on the back side of the Park 'n Shop complex, near the intersection of Broadway and Salvio. It was difficult for us to find, especially since we're not from the area. When we got there, it was about 6:30PM on a Monday and the place was empty, but we were immediately greeted by a sweet woman and another man who was wiping down some tables. She asked if we knew what we wanted, and we said yes -- three veggie burritos, wet (as some of the reviews here recommended -- "the best wet burrito in Concord..."). "Okay," she said. "So, frijoles, arroz, queso, crema, avocado, tomato, lettuce?" Yes, we said... and wet! We also ordered three horchatas, before we were told to sit anywhere and that we pay after we eat. The woman again came out and double checked, "you said three veggie burritos? With avocado? My husband (who was at the stovetop as we were ordering) says you wanted wet?" I did not hear you say that, but he says yes, they asked for wet!" "Yes, please," we said. It didn't take long before she brought us three large, beautiful, smothered burritos. With the first bite, I immediately noticed the spiciness of the sauce that was on the burrito and told my husband that it was going to be too hot for our 9 year old to eat (and typically he does alright with spicy food!). Sure enough, he took a bite, and said "my mouth is burning!" After a couple more bites and an increasing complaint of his burrito being way too spicy, we asked if we could order him a quesadilla instead. "Okay," the woman said, then asked, "is it too spicy for him?" She proceeded to come over and explain that the batch of salsa they had made that morning was spicier than they ever make it. They had run out of one of the chiles they typically blend with the chile de árbol and habanero that usually goes into the sauce, so it was just those two spicy peppers that made up the sauce on the burritos. "I told my husband this salsa is too hot to serve!" She said. "I'm sorry!" Of course she had not mentioned this before, when we ordered our food, especially when she knew one of the burritos was for a child. We expected them to waive the cost of one burrito, as the reason it couldn't be eaten was the admitted over-spiciness (nearly inedible) of the sauce that they knew was being served. Instead, we were charged for three burritos and the quesadilla, too. That was disappointing, as the folks at La Soledad were fully aware that they were serving something they even claimed was "too spicy to serve" and when it couldn't be eaten just because of that, we still had to cover the cost of their mistake. That was a huge turnoff. Whenever we find ourselves in Concord again, we will definitely be looking into other taquerias to try rather than returning.

IAM SOLD ON ONE VISIT ALONE!!!! Well one thing before we start, DO NOT JUDGE THE RESTUARANT BY IT'S APPERANCE!!!! I was in the mood for a burrito and despite Las Montanas being near, I was in the mood for something different. I saw this place and decided to give it a try. I walked in and knew actually what I wanted "Super Carne Asada Burrito!!" I ordered in Spanish (place does seem more catered to Spanish speaking folks) and ask for it to go. When I finally ate the burrito, I was taken a back. I'm from the mission and the Carne Asada, do I dare say, reminded me of "The Taqueria" located on 26th and mission. This Carne Asada was F'N good. I'm not a whole beans kinda guy, so I regret not asking for refried beans. But overall, this is the best Carne Asada burrito I have had in concord and most of the Claycord area. So if you are in the mood for a great Carne Asada Burrito, Hit this spot. P.S. apparently this place has been here for 20 years.

Great taqueria, although I've ordered the wet burrito twice and skipped the tacos. The portions are absolutely enormous and the food has wonderful spice. The ambiance is loud spanish-language television and a raucous kitchen run by what I'm guessing is a husband and wife. Several kinds of beers to choose from in the self-service refrigerators. It is not fancy, but the food is quite delicious.

I am so pregnant right now, and a few weeks back, I wanted real, GOOD Mexican food so bad. I searched Yelp for somewhere that looked the part, and settled on Taqueria Soledad. I was not disappointed. I've had the quesadilla and the fajita combo platter so far. Both are amazingly delicious. Truly the best Mexican place in the area (we are in Concord). It's so cheap for the amount of food you get, and the owners are so darling. We've been twice now and they have been just at a table eating/drinking, but they get up right away, wash up, and get your order cooking. So homey and wonderful. Absolutely love this place, and we will be returning often I'm sure! Oh, P.S. My hubby got the wet burrito, and it is unexpectedly spicy! Very good, but be prepared!

Love this place, my husband took me here with some friends a last year and have been a fan ever since , it so delish and inexpensive, the people are so friendly and never have messed up an order,of ours anyway, cant speak for anyone else sorry . As far as I'm concerned I will be a returning customer for a long time :)

This place is a little hard to find by frys electronics. I have only had the chicken wet burrito and it's amazing. If you do not like spicy don't order this because it's pretty spicy. It has grilled chicken, beans, rice, sour cream and avocado chunks. The sauce they smother it with is like a cheesy white sauce with some kind of hot red pepper mix. It's delicious. My boyfriend and I have been going to another authentic Mexican place called el Yahualica off monument (which is like a 6-10min. Drive from this place) for years because they also have a delicious wet burrito that's not as spicy and has a totally different sauce. I would give this place 5 starts but it's not really clean inside but the people are really nice and friendly.

Taqueria La Soledad really is a hole in the wall spot, on the back side of the Park 'n Shop complex, but DAMN they're good! Its the favorite spot for my gringo friend. When I 1st went there I thought this place is exactly like the taco halls in Mexico. The owner and her husband are very nice. One thing though, the salsa is very spicy. Not a complaint just a heads up :)

woke up a bit hung over and I was in need of a big o bowl of menudo...the first restaurant that I went to was La Placita and they had already ran out by 1000am as I was leaving I heard someone say that there is a little restaurant behind Las montañas super market that has good menudo, so I made my way over there. WOW. The place was PACKED all the tables were being used there people waiting to be seated and some waiting for to go orders. I was helped right away by a very nice loud lady who took my order and within 5 minutes I was out of there. The menudo was perfect the right ammount of spicy and savory, the meat was nice and tender, not chewy at all and compared to other menudos I had before this one wasnt too greasy. The menudo came with an order of four hand made tortilas that were just like anything you can find in Mexico. I have been back a few other times to try their different dishes and so far I have not been dissapointed.

The food itself was decent but everything else was not. Hard to find, messy, no chips, flies all over the place, dirty floor and tables. Was trying to give this place a chance but just won't be back.

This place is pretty legit! 1 dollar tacos on Thursdays! There sausa is different everyday and is all handmade! I tried a lot of there food and they were all delicious! Gotta order the meat as El Pastor!

Best Mexican Taqueria around, the food is very authentic and delicious. I recommend their chicken quesadilla and their wet burritos.

  • Monica H.

Hidden from view on the backside of Park-n-Shop is this muy delicioso Mexican food. It's like you have a Mexican grandma who is cooking for you. I think they have a lot of regulars here, sometimes when we walk in, at first it's like everyone is checking out the strangers. 30 seconds later we are warmly greeted. Ceviche is very good here. Since we've gone low carb, we skip the rice, chips, kept the salsa. we now have the beef or seafood soup and ceviche minus the tostada. The staff looks at us like we're nuts, but they happily accommodate our diet.

I have been spending time in Concord lately and I am always looking for good Mexican food. This place is legit. I tried their carne asada tacos and a burrito al pastor. Both were great - the meat was seared nicely to give it that lovely crunch. Yes, it's in a weird spot like everyone says. And yes, it's not the sterile antiseptic environment of a Baja Fresh or some other American chain. If that's what you want, go there. If you want a delicious asada burrito - come here. I don't know about the wet burrito that everyone seems to like (I like my burritos to be easily transportable so I never try that option,) but their soup menu looks amazing! I will definitely try their goat soup next time. Another plus for me was the whole pieces of avocado, as opposed to guacamole. The tortillas are not handmade like other reviews say. I don't know why people think that when you can see them pulling them from the package, but they are nice tortillas nonetheless. Just go check it out if you like awesome tacos!

Hole in the wall Mexican place. Amazing burritos! I don't think a week has ever gone by that I haven't been here. I love it and I'm addicted to it. I really should try other things but the burrito is so frickin' good. Best one I've had in the Bay Area so far and it's so close to where I live :D

  • Sisi H.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while due to the positive yelp reviews and found myself in the area today and decided to check them out. First impression: kinda dirty, didn't smell too great but the hole-in-the-wall charm made me overlook that. The people that work here are VERY friendly and polite. I honestly feel bad that I didn't like this place enough to go back because they were such nice people and made me feel incredibly welcome. I ordered a ceviche tostada and an al pastor taco to go. Pastor taco was pretty bland which is shocking considering al pastor is typically marinated in spices... Ceviche was mostly lettuce tomato and onion, I didn't even get fish in every bite, not a good sign. I've never in my life had ceviche that wasn't 95% fish. Overall there are at least 3 other places within a 2 minute drive that are far better then La Soledad. For that alone I don't think I'd return.

  • Tom B.

Authentic Mexican food in a hard to find dive that looks like it could be in a small town in Mexico, as do the clientele....prices are good and the food was tasty and obviously prepared after we ordered (no microwave crap here), service mostly friendly (especially by the cook..owner too?) Would have been four stars but the often mentioned comped chips and salsa were nowhere to be seen...is the place cutting costs or run out?

    (3)
  • M. D.

I don't have to say much. The food will speak for itself. The "Wet Burrito" is magnificent. Spicy, yes but so worth it. Enjoy!!!

    (5)
  • Roger H.

Small and a little out of the way, at first glance seemed a little too empty for lunch (never a good sign) but the customers were all Spanish speakers so that kinda balanced it out. Had the pastor tortas, nice size for the price and tasted good but the meat was a little too dry. I'd give them another try with a different dish if I was in the area but I probably wouldn't go out of my way.

  • Rick M.

The best home made taco's & burrito's in town!! We've been going there for 10+ years, it's always great! The place isn't much to look at (we always get our food to-go)... but the food is so good, it doesn't matter!

I was at a nearby REI with my mom when we were hit with serious burrito cravings. So I worked my magic on Yelp and found this place nearby. It looked easy to find and had stellar reviews. After some difficulty and almost giving up, we managed to find the taqueria. As any good taqueria, it's very much a hole in the wall, hidden on the back side of a small shopping center. The place was deserted, save a woman who came to help us. I ordered a chicken burrito, and my mom, a vegetarian who is used to having veggie options at her usual yuppie Tex-Mex joints, explained that she wanted just beans and rice. The woman offered to throw in some lettuce, which made my mom happy. Although I'd easily give 4-5 stars for how nice and accommodating the lady was, I wasn't all that impressed with my burrito. It was not bad at all, just not great. The beans were very liquidy, making the burrito runny and difficult to eat. I'd come back to try it again if I was in the area, but it's not a taqueria I'll search out.

Get the Wet Burrito for sure! It was the best burrito I have ever had. Next time however we will get the soup. Everybody was getting it and it looked awesome. I salivated a little every time the waiter walked by with a bowl. Everybody was super friendly too!

I had given up all hope since leaving sac to find decent Mexican food....literally this place exceeded expectations and then some. Other Mexican restaurants take notes! This is how it's done. I had a small little lunch...corona and two made to order chicken tacos w/ freshly made tortillas. Yum! It's a little hard to find but that's the fun of it! I will be back for sure!!!!

  • Ramon P.

So far, the best Mexican food I've had in Concord. I tried a few places around here and I always keep coming back to Taqueria La Soledad. I recommend their chicken quesadilla and carne asada tacos. The owners are friendly and the place reminds me of food joints you find in Mexico.

  • Todd G.

Absolutely FILTHY. The kitchen was the filthiest ever.. The table my girlfriend and I sat at had a half full beer with a snotty napkin stuffed inside. The floors had fish bones, nasty wilted lettuce and at least 1 weeks worth of grime. I did not want to touch anything in this place. So gross.. By far dirtiest place I've ever eaten at. They must be buried in health code violations. They'd probably be shut down if the health dept walked in that place. The food was good, but who cares, it's not worth the absolute disgusting environment and it makes you wonder how sanitary your food is. So bad.. Check the floors out and the kitchen and see for yourself if you eat here.

Nothing fancy and a little hidden but very good. I had the fish plate for just under 8 bucks. White fish, beans, rice, lettuce and tomato plus tortillas. Filling and very good. I was there during early lunch and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely go back.

  • Mike S.

I must've been sleeping under a rock not to have checked this place out. by far the best mexican food i've had in all of the bay. not a small place, but only a few tables are placed inside, which gives you the feel of eating at a local taco joint in La Paz. Family owned and operated. Very welcoming, and very prompt when it comes to bringing out your food. it's a bit hard to find, and to give you a top, it's the last shop on the left across from the Fry's Electronic

    (5)
  • Louis H.

I have tried the menudo and the cosido. Both were good but not stellar. This place is on the back parking lot of Park n Shop. It is a hidden restaurant for the most part. They are very friendly and attentive. The soup was good and hit the spot, but it lacked an intensity to the flavor of the broth. The meat while being cooked well was still a little bit lacking in flavor. Otherwise a decent representation of the beef soups I've had in the area.

I wanted to like this place. I work close by and tried to find this place once before, after reading the reviews. This time I found it. I was really turned off by the location however, it seemed like a dump, kinda like a truck stop. I went during lunch, at the time I think I was the only English speaking customer in the place; it was a bit uncomfortable. Also, the place is very messy. The tables weren't clean, half full bottles of sodas on the tables, etc. I don't think I could eat here if I was paid to. I took my tacos to go, but frankly won't visit them again. Needless to say I wasn't impressed. It's disappointing, because I really want to find a favorite taqueria in Concord, but can't find anything that compares to my fave in Dublin, Taqueria Los Pericos.

What a lovely place. I love hole in the wall restaurants. The woman (wife) is a real kick in the pants. She has a way of picking on you in a way that makes you feel special. Their hand made tortillas are out of this world. Yum!

Was craving some Mexican food and yelp led me to this hidden gem!! It is a bit hard to find but it's literally behind the park and shop next to kragens auto body so you have to drive in the back of that shopping center to see it. I've tried the tacos, super burrito, and menudo. Everything was delish and I love how they use the actual avocado instead of guacamole. The owner kept checking on us and made sure we were satisfied with our food and my bf and I realllyyyyy enjoyed it!! It's not the nicest place nor fancy but food is great and I think that's what matters!! We will definitely come back.

Finally got around to trying this place today. Ordered four of the small Carne Asada tacos to dine in. OMG! These might be the most delicious tacos I have ever had. The Carne Asada was very flavorful and had a subtle crunch to it. I think they may have put the meat on the flattop grill for a minute or two like some places do for Carnitas. The Salsa Verde they put on the tacos is also very good and was hot enough to make my nose run. And the complementary chips and salsa were pretty good too. It is a little hard to find. It is on the back side of the Park 'n Shop complex near the intersection of Broadway St and Salvio St. The ambiance and decor is....well hey, it's a taqueria. And if you ride your bike there as I did the only decent bike parking is located near the entrance to Fry's. I will definitely go back to try the Carnitas tacos and other selections from their menu.

This place is hard to find tucked in the back of the Park n Shop, but it's definitely worth the hunt. I've been to most of the burrito places in the Concord area and this one is the best. It's not the greatest looking place, but that's not why I go there. My personal favorites are the carne asada and al pastor, but everything is good. I particularly like the nice crunch they put on the meat on the flat top. The staff is also very friendly and they provide chips and salsa while you wait.

This is a hidden gem in back of Frys . Don't look for classy booths or a hidden kitchen here. This is the real article. The owner is the sweetest lady I have ever met and she laughs with you as you try out long forgotten Spanish words for dishes. Then she patiently tells you the correct pronunciation . She speaks perfect English and doesn't mind how you order ( we were trying hard to impress her and failed oops) . We got the only window seat in the place and we were treated like kings. She even asked us to taste the salsa before she added to our dishes to make sure it wasn't too spicey. So considerate. We gringo's can be so unsure of whether to try new and exciting dishes/spices. Loved our food and the service. It was not busy. The clientele were friendly and all Latino so you know your getting real food and not some tex mex chain. This place is clean and my favorite thing, an old coca cola vending machine with tall coke in a bottle, was in the back, like when I was a kid. The coke had actual coke in it back in the 60's from what I hear. Would go back in a heartbeat. (To the restaurant silly, not to the childhood with a bottle of old coca cola.) haha.

Wow! This place is awesome. Its definitely one of those holes in the wall with delicious food. I ordered the red enchiladas with Carne asada. Of course when you order something you have had in the past you can anticipate what it will look like. Well when I received my meal I was surprised. My enchiladas weren't swimming in sauce! That's a good thing to me. There was just enough on top to taste along with avocado, tomatoes, and lettuce. I saw a stray piece of carne asada and tried it by itself. Tasted amazing! It wasn't like other places where its just cooked under seasoned beef. This carne asada tasted....ridiculously good. I'll go out on a limb and say its the best carne asada I've ever had. The overall flavor of the enchiladas was great. They are probably second or third to my grandmas enchiladas.....yes...that good. Beans and rice were good too. This place is definitely a hidden gem. Tucked between Fry's and 99 Ranch Market.

Salsa, bomb! Ceviche, bomb! Wet burritos, bomb! Crispy delicious al pastor, bomb! Torta as big as your head, bomb! Service, bomb! Maybe the best taqueria in the east bay!!!! I can't believe they have been in business for almost 18 years and I just found the place. Definitely hooked for life now.

I'll start by saying I like hole-in-the-wall places so if that's not your thing, this is NOT the place for you. Located behind the park-n-shop it even has an off-beat entrance. I was trying to find a different taqueria on yelp and came across this one (with good reviews). Plus, a gf of mine highly recommends it and her law office orders lunch from here quite a bit. I went in and ordered 3 small tacos (they don't have carnitas). I had two chicken and one carne asada. The meat was in really small pieces so it had a good crunch to it. Both meats were flavored nicely. A lot of onion garnished the tacos in addition to the salsa verde. I should back up. My meal started with a basket of chips and a red salsa. I was told they didn't have anything hotter. But the salsa verde that came on my tacos definitely seemed warmer. Both salsas were GREAT. I had a medio litre Mexican coke (the delicious bottled kind), and I was out of there for $7.48. Not bad since I left very full. My fiance and I went back on Saturday (and actually I saw another customer that had been in there the Thursday (3/8/12) that I first went. Repeat customers are a good sign.) My fiance ordered a sope and a grande taco ($2) and a small taco ($1.45). The grande taco is just a slightly bigger tortilla. I think I'd prob order that next time I go in. I like their tortillas. The sopa was like a thick, fried dough tortilla. it was pretty good but we prob wouldn't get it again. It was very doughy in the middle at the bottom without much flavor. The sides were crispy though and they were good. It was huge! Not even sure how you're supposed to eat it. We asked the lady and she gave us a demonstration of how she eats it when she's alone (funny!!) but fiance ultimately tried his best at holding it and then went to his fork. :) Yummms! It had lettuce and tomato on it, and also salsa verde, and more onion than it prob needed.

Yummy!!!! We finally found a good, hole in the wall taqueria. Had the Al Pastor burrito and it was delicious. The staff is very friendly, the place is clean and the prices are extremely reasonable. Mind you, this isnt a fine dining establishment...it is a little family run taco shack type place. Seems very authentic. We will be back - regularly!!

I was curious when saw this place on the local restaurants on Yelp. I then wondered where it was, since I frequent Park and Shop often. As the other reviews say, " Best Tacos" in Concord. It might beat all other Taco trucks I encountered. That says a lot since I am from the #408 and had lived in So cal, next to the border.. Small and and definitely a Hole in the Wall. I ate a small lunch but needed a little something to carry me till dinner. The Carne Asada Tacos were calling my name. I only ordered 2, but they were very Good. They cooked it upon me ordering it. The Ma and Pop feel made it a cozy place to hang out. No Flat screens but an old school Tv in corner. $4.00 and some change for Authentic Tacos made to order. Just make sure you look for it in the back of Park and Shop. Next time Menundo for Breakfast!!

The best Mexican food you can find in this area. The family is from Michoacan and they prepare their food in true Michoacan style, fresh meats, vegetables, and hand made tortillias and great spicy sauces. The appearance will through you off but go for the food and enjoy a bit of Mexico right here in Concord, the back side of Park and Shop.

  • Terry T.

Located on the backside of Park and Shop the home of 3 other Mexican restaurants, It is easy to miss this Taqueria. That makes it easier to park. Totally lacking any ambiance I felt I was off the beaten path ; perhaps I was in Mexico or Texas. The chips and salsa were good and the Camarónes (shrimp) Ranchero were enjoyable.

My go to place for carne asada! Fresh grilled to order. They spice their asada like no other. Been going here for years and well the food is consistent and savory. Do not order anything else but a super burrito with carne asada.

I've been eating here regularly for over 10 years. Over time, the bread for the tortas and the taco tortillas have gone from being awesome to being meh. However, all the meats are cooked to order and with the right amount of spice. Excellent beans. The hand made salsa will make you hurt and have you coming back for more. Sometimes the food doesn't taste fresh, but when it's on this place is magic. The carne asada super burrito has provided me with some of the best food moments of my life. Hint: Order the super tacos instead of the regular. They use handmade tortillas for these.

Hard to find but worth the trouble. Hubby and I had the pleasure of meeting the owner who is a delight. I had Asada Burrito hubby had Asada enchilada plate. Everything was really good the Asada had really good seasoning and the beans where Delicious. However the star of the show was the seafood soup!!

I've been coming here for years with my family and we all LOVE this place. The owners are the most wonderful people and always greet you with smiles. The al pastor is the best you can get short of a drive to east Oakland (tacos zamorano). They have always accommodated my little ones and made them small plates of scrambled eggs, or some "minced" chicken with rice and beans, without charging for a full price adult meal. Tonight my daughter had a wet buritto. it was a bit too spicy for her, but lucky for me because that sauce is the BEST SAUCE I have ever tasted!! I am now going to order everything wet ... fish, tortas, tacos, i'm telling you, it was beautiful.

This is the best place in the bay area for real Mexican food. Oh my gosh, the people there are so very friendly and can't say enough about the food. You gotta try this place. Do not go for the décor, or decorations...the food is the BEST!!

If you're looking for a refined place for a romantic dinner, this ain't it. If you're looking for a family run hole-in-the-wall where everyone knows everyone, the Tacos are made fresh, you gasp at how spicy things are but you can't stop eating because it tastes so good, and the entire place reminds you a lot of, well, Mexico... then welcome to La Soledad! The big difference between La Soledad and other Taqueria's I've been to in Concord... the meat gets cooked fresh to order. I haven't had anything bad at La Soledad, but my favorite grab here is the carne asada tacos. They are simply amazing.

The folks in my office frequent this place quite a bit, the first time I was offered a torta, I was a little hesitant, but decided I was game. Boy am I glad I decided to give it a try! I've tried tortas at a few different places in the area, when people say La Soledad has the best, the aren't lyin! I also enjoy their asada tacos. I've only actually been to La Soledad once, and it literally looks like a whole in the wall, blink and you'll miss it! Much larger inside then it appears, and the cook was very pleasant and friendly!

Loved the ceviche, tacos (asada and pastor), and enchiladas. My mom loved the whole fried fish.

A hole in the wall, but worth it. Very authentic. Large portions. Delicious salsa and chips. They even make their own tortillas from scratch. Some of my favorites, menudo (ranks up with the best I've ever had) Tacos, meat is seasoned just right. I espesially enjoy the lingua tacos, cooked so the meat practicly melts in your mouth. When you get an order to go, they give you freshly made chips and house made salsa. Yum, Yum. You gotta try this place.

Decided to try this place out today for the first time and it was DELICIOSO! I had the menudo because I smelled it as soon as I walked in. It was amazing and it came with handmade tortillas! I did not finish the plate because it was a big portion, so I took the leftovers and the owner gladly gave me extra tortillas to take home. The place is clean and the people are very friendly. I will be coming back very soon!

Go with the wet burrito!! They don't just dump canned enchilada sauce on top of it. It is some homemade concoction with lots of flavor. Salsa is awesome as is their guacamole. Nice people, fast service, great food.

Rating only on the food 5 stars! I love this place. I advise ordering out because the back side of park n shop is crummy, but the FOOD is the best mexican in town. The tortas are my fav!

i can say i went to soledad and survived. soledad taqueria that it, not soledad the prison. the owner/chef/cashier greeted me with a question of what i wanted for a burritos. carnitas? al pastor? chicken? t took the al pastor burrito(4.95) it was made to order, the al pastor was warmed on a grill. pinto beans, rice, sprinkled cheese were added. the all mexican clientele checked me out. as i checked out this ghetto hole in the wall. this place l isdivier than anything i've seen in the mission. oaktown has divier places on foothill. the al pastor left an aftertaste all day long.

I have tried all the Mexican spots around Concord and this place is in the top 10. I cook Mexican food as well, and I am a tough critic. The meat is marinated and the salsa is flavorful and pleasantly spicy. Don't let the appearance of the restaurant deter you the food is good and the people working are friendly. The menu isn't very extensive but everything I've tried so far is pretty good. They would be in the top 3 if they were more consistent

We tried this place out after their good Yelp reviews. Definitely hole in the wall. I wasn't too impressed by the asada in my burrito, will try out their other meat selections next time. GF liked the Sopes, thought they were good but not amazing. Very friendly service and about what you'd expect from a hole in the wall taqueria. Overall I'd say 3.5 stars.

I loooooove the Tortas at Taqueria la Soledad. They are huge and cheap and as good as the ones I used to get in Mexico City. Tacos are good too but honestly the Torta is so delicious that I never get anything different. The neighborhood is sketchy, but I would assume you could figure that out after you end up behind a Fry's electronics. The staff is friendly and fun. While I was there the proprietess cheerfully yelled directions at my friend over the phone.

I really like the burritos in this little hole in the wall. As Kymberli mentioned, they use real avocado instead of guacamole. And the carne asada is very meaty and chewy. I didn't notice anything crunchy, but if there's lard in there and it makes the burrito delicious, then no problem. And though everything looks old and dingy, everything is clean, including the banos. And to clarify, this is the taqueria on the back side of the shopping center, facing the Fry's parking lot.

Yes... this is a hole in the wall family owned joint, but it doesn't get any more authentic than this...I thought i was in Mexico! I accidentally stumbled across this place about 2 weeks ago after shopping at Frys. It's near the rear parking lot of Ranch 99 supermarket. I ordered two tacos and a beer and I was pleasantly surprised to get a bill for about $6! I read some so-so reviews about their burrito, but my advice ... stick with their tacos for $1.49 a piece. It's the real thing. They only have three types: Asada (beef), Pastor (pork), and Lengua (beef tongue). If you're a bit adventurous, try their menudo soup; It was pretty good too.

I work in Concord, and this is def my favorite lunch spot. Cheap, good, authentic tacos. If you like a good pico de gallo and meaty tacos, and mexican coke and are in Concord, give this place a try. I go here at least once a week and get three steak tacos and a mexican coke. Churros are no good here btw! just stick to the tacos.

This place has extraordinary food and customer service! All the mest is fresh and very well marinated. The most authentic mexican food that I have ever had in a resturaunt. The people are friendly, and make you feel like you are at home. They appreciate your business and it shows. A wonderful personal expierence every time I go here, which is once or twice a week. Sense I first came here I have gone nowhere else for mexican food. I highly recomend it to you!

MMMM. Taqueria La Soledad has these grilled cebollitas on their tacos that are phenomenal. Not to mention the avocado used instead of guac. The flavor in the burritos are so different from any other taqueria I've been too. They also have the best chips. Extra thick and the salsa is spicy and salty to perfection.

Ive never noticed this place before... but I saw it one day while walking through Park and Shop on my lunch break... I decided to get a burrito from here today... it was just okay. The one thing I liked about it was they put like a whole avocado in there instead of guacamole, it was diced cubes of avocadoes. It also had something crunchy in it... I thought it was bacon but when I showed my boss he said it may be lard :( I stopped eating then and there... I don't like bacon or lard.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
