Nice place. The food is good and it has a decent selection for vegetarians. I don't have any issues with this place at all, the staff is friendly, the food tasty, the ambiance cool. There's something, probably just my own preference, that makes me think it could be better. But it's not something I can put a finger on. Give it a try, and ask for the spicy miso :d

The ONE time Yelp let me down, and that was eating at Momiji. I was in the area looking at bridesmaid dresses and craving ramen. Since the spicy tonkotsu was highly recommended, I decided to give it a try. The broth was VERY oily. Not sure if it was chili oil or what, but it was not appealing, to say the least. The ramen came with 2 paper thin slices of pork and I didn't enjoy the other sides it came with. Next time I'm in the area looking at dresses again, I'll pass on Momiji, as there are many options to choose from in the Colma area.

I really like the taste of the ramen here, loved the soy milk ramen and the tonkotsu, the only problem is I think they put MSG in their broth that I felt my head getting bigger and my heart racing- I never felt like this having ramen at any other place/s. Maybe next time, just tell them no MSG please!

Douchebag who took my parking when I had my turn signal to take the parking spot ended up eating here. Inconsiderate fool was wearing biker shorts apparently excited to see his man date.

If you know me, you'll know that I love carbs. I love noodles especially. So ramen would definitely be something I'd be interested in. Momji is one of the only Ramen shops in Daly City so it's cool to have a shop nearby. Their food is pretty good. Nice selection of options. I only tried the ramen and gyoza. Both were pretty standard. I guess I'm just not a ramen expert. What I Ordered: * Spicy Miso Ramen: Broth wasn't too salty and it had a slight heat. I liked the boiled egg it comes with. Not the best but was good. I liked the chewy noodles. * Gyoza: Moist and juicy inside. Nice char on the outside. Check them out. They're a good option just not the absolute best option for all you ramen purists out there. The prices aren't bad either (well at least at lunch time). Btw I know she'll never see this but thanks to Judy (my coworker) for lunch!

Spicy Ramen This Little Ramen shop, near target in Colma Daly City . Fills up rather quickly. They open at 11:30 on Sundays we got there about 11:40 , was lucky to get an empty table right away. After A few quick questions order was asked for my waitress "Shelley". Our orders were placed. Kakuni was added to my spicy ramen order, well worth the extra charge. The wife had a side of Kakuni over rice. Squid balls with bonito as a appetizer was served, hot tea was brought up an interesting cups. All the food was very tasty. Have no complaints about the food . Only problem is I had to chase down the waitress to get the check. Granted there are only two people working at the time and the restaurant was fully packed understandable. Just be prepared to wait if the restaurant is busy. I would suggest not sitting close to the door, because when they open in the cold air rushes in.

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but the service is just too slow. I've been here twice and both times I was waiting 10+ minutes for my ramen... Every other ramen place I've been to hasn't taken that long. Both times I went it was super slow and they barely had anyone in there! Plus the guy never came around to refill my water... But let's get on to the food So I order the tonkatsu ramen with extra chasu, corn, and bamboo! Oh the first time I ordered it I added chicken. I'd recommend staying away from the chicken. It was really salty and pretty dry. But other than that the food was great. I really like how their ramen isn't too salty and has just the right amount of spice. I just hate having to pay 1 dollar to add corn. It's really not that expensive. Oh well, I love corn too much. Lol Overall, really good food but they really need to work on their service.

Came here randomly after a trip to Michaels. Ordered vegetarian spicy miso with added egg and tofu. Noodles were good broth okay. Boyfriend ordered tonkatsu curry. Curry good but pork too dry. . Charging for tea not okay but cool chalkboard art wall. Small. Good service. No alcohol.

I'm not Bobby Flay on Iron Chef, but I swear I'm about to watch a thrown down. You know the ramen cup o noodles? Picture that with better beef broth, and what you have is this ramen joint. My buddy is about to loose his mind over the $15 price tag to which extra noodles, and vegetables were ordered but the portions didn't match the price tag. Think a handful of noodles for $15 and you can see my friend's dilemma. So back to my lackluster lunch. The portion was small, and the kimchi I added was about a bites worth. Oh, and I was a sucker to add their pork fried rice for $2.50. The pork was about the size of small boogers, and tasted like fat. How unappetizing. I'm sure McDonalds could have made a better fried rice. My friend never did win that battle, the waiter said the extra noodles were in there somewhere. No worries though I thought since who needs more mediocre noodles anyways? Just more to be disappointed about. The broth was the only 3 star thing about this place. Unfortunately, I didn't come here to drink soup or broth. If I wanted soup, I'd go to Boudins and get their clam chowder, right? I think this place gets high marks because it's the only decent ramen place between SF and San Mateo, hahahahaha.

    - Quality and flavorwise it is a 5/10 - Their service is pretty slow - noodles taste pretty old and artificial. - I will give it a health rate of 4/10 the place looks pretty crappy and also during my visit I found a fly in my ramen. - Nothing impressive i

Decent place, I like the ambience. Food is good. Service has been consistent between my first and fifth visit. I'd definitely come back! I live in South SF, this place is a go to place when my friends and I are not in the mood for a long drive to Japantown.

Finally a ramen place that is great in Daly City. Yeah that's right they have your typical broths tonkotsu, shoyu, miso and spicy versions of most all of these. I like to get soft boiled eggs every time with the spicy shoyu ramen. Yum. The gyoza is also great. If I had to add one item to the menu it would be a bar with some beer or bourbon or something. I'm dying here. Get a liquor license please.....

It's decent. It's close by. Parking is easy and no wait. What else could I ask. I remember this place used to be a deli and I've always wanted to try this Ramen place but it never grabbed my attention. I had an eye appointment that day, so I had time to kill before hand. I was the first one seated. From reading reviews, their service is a hit or miss. Fortunately, mine was really good, just slow. I think there was only one server and people slowly trickled in. I ordered the Kakuni appetizer (Braised Pork Belly) and Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen (With extra bamboo shoots and corn $1 each). Hahaha, I didn't realize it was a lot of food until after I ordered. Kakuni: 3/5. It was VERY fatty as picture shows. It was also very salty and could be sweeter. The searing could have used a bit more because the meat wasn't really cooked too much. Presentation was nice, but I probably would not order it again. Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen: 3/5. Broth tasted weird. It wasn't very creamy nor had that "broth" flavor. It just tasted again, VERY salty. It felt as if they just added hella salt and not didn't actual cook the broth for hours. The toppings were standard. The noodles were pretty nice though. Slightly on the chewy side and teeny bit thicker than most. I guess they've improved since they opened because the portions are good now. Oh yeah, I was pretty sad that my sweet corn turned out to be regular salted corn :( It was kinda lame they gave you two very thin slices of chasu. ***Their egg probably caught my attention the most. It was perfectly cooked, with a runny yolk. But why just half? :( Overall, I'll come here if I'm too lazy to drive to San Mateo or wait for an hour. This place will temporarily satisfy your ramen cravings. I'll save my stomach for their soy milk broth next time.

Ramen shop that packs a punch A small, tiny shop located in a huge ass mall, this ramen place is hard to notice--even after we went into the mall's parking lot, it took a while of driving around before finding this place. Inside, the place is so small it barely has any seats. The waitstaff are friendly, and nice. The vibe inside is also very cozy, with hand-drawn chalk drawings on all the walls (I know it's real chalk because i touched it with me fingers!). The hand drawn mural is HUGE and very very artistic, and gives the place a very warm vibe In terms of the food, the quality is also amazing. The portions are just right, the spicy soup was spicy, but not to spicy. The half-boiled egg tasted mushy and juicy. mmmmm. And the noodles tasted chewy, which was awesome. Definitely good ramen that's worth making a detour just to stop by.

This place has recently been my go to place (in this area) for ramen...convenient location with plenty of parking. The menu selection is decent with a few specials listed on the walls. I generally order the ramen, but I have also tried the tonkatsu rice plate...Both have been tasty and satisfying! Dining area is small, so it can get crowded & cramped between the tables (easy to overhear conversations). Price is average and service has been adequate during my visits...rating is probably more 3.5 stars, but I'll give it 4 stars just because it's pretty good for the area.

Its ok, yeah I would come back. We tried this place on a Thursday night dinner with family who lived in the area. There was still a little bit of a wait for a table inside. The interior is cute; centered around a large cooking area. Surrounded by drawings on the blackboard walls which advertises some daily specials. Note: They do have Japanese curry as a rice bowl, its not on the menu, but its on the walls. We ordered the following: - Tonkotsu ramen - Shio ramen - Miso ramen - Chicken Kaarage Curry. - Side order of Gyoza - Side order of Kakuni (pork belly) bowl - Deep fried Squid. All the sides was pretty good. I would get the squid again. The Gyoza's I would probably give it a miss, they were fried too much and was too crunchy. And the Kakuni is very very fatty, would of loved to have it seared a bit more on say super high heat to it is super crispy. They had actually run out of the curry mixture, so they just gave us the Chicken Kaarage straight up as a normal rice plate. We didn't get a discount for that, but oh wells. The ramen was ok. The noodles were pretty standard as well as the toppings. The Tonkotsu and Miso broths were both pretty ok, Nothing to write home about. Though I wouldn't recommend getting the Shio ramen. The first thing I tasted from it was MSG. But all in all it was ok. I think if I was in the area, I would make the extra drive to go to San Mateo for ramen at Ramen Parlor

Good ramen in a strip mall? It's possible. I didn't have high expectations considering I was used to the hole-in-the-walls where you have to write your name on a clipboard and stand outside in the cold until a coveted table opens up. But here, you can just stroll on in and be face-to-face with a piping hot bowl of spicy miso ramen with sweet corn and kimchi. At least, that's how I like mine :) The noodles are cooked al dente, which I love. Nothing worse than a soggy limp noodle (right ladies?). Plus service has always been attentive and friendly. And I don't have to chokeabitch for a parking space either. Happy tummies all around for Momiji!

I'd really give it 3.5 stars. On a rainy day, ramen is just perfect! They weren't busy at 2pm on a Friday. We were seated immediately for 2. Despite them not being busy, it took a while for us to get menus. We ordered about 10 mins later. And our water came out another 10 mins after. Then our food took about another 15 mins. To sum it up, slow service. We ordered the tonkatsu ramen with their lunch special offer of bbq pork fried rice for an additional $2.50 and the spicy soy milk ramen with kakuni. I liked the tonkatsu broth more, it was rich and creamy. The spicy soy milk which was unique to me, I haven't seen it in a ramen menu before, was pretty good. Not spicy at all imo, I added a lot of togarashi. It's also creamy and rich but had a sweetness to it, which is probably why I prefer the tonkatsu more because I like salty over sweet. The chashu was decent, thin sliced and tender. The kakuni I had was very tender with layers of fat between the meats, Yums. The ramen noodles were too chewy for me. I prefer mine a bit softer or more cooked. But my soft boiled egg was a thumbs up, soft silly tofu like egg whites with an ooey gooey yolk. The fried rice was bland and not worth it. Pass on the advertised bbq pork fried rice. Price was average. $9.99 for the spicy soy milk and $8.99 for tonkatsu. The kakuni was $2 extra and the fried rice was an additional $2.50. Our bill was $25. Also, they accept cards but minimum purchase of $10.

I decided to check this place out since I was near Michael's and my auntie had told me she enjoyed the food here. I sat by the window and decided on the spicy tonkotsu ramen without the chashu and added chicken karaage for an additional $2 instead. My bowl of ramen came out within 15 minutes and I was ready to devour it because not only was I hungry, but I wasn't feeling too well. So, I wanted something to bring me back to life. The broth was rich and flavorful. It wasn't salty at all. The soft boiled egg wasn't overcooked. The chicken karaage wasn't overly fatty or overly breaded. It was easy to chew. The noodles were nicely cooked al dente. Overall, I give this place a solid 3.5 stars. I would come back to try something else on the menu. Service was ok. Prices seem slightly higher than other ramen restaurants I've been to. I paid $15 with tip. FYI, credit card minimum is $10.

The Chicken Karaage Got Better so much! Incredible! Still 100% Chinese Ramen joint doing well. Now, it's good as real Tatsuta-Age. humblebeanblog.com/2013/… Thank you so much for change because it was pretty bad. I did not like it, but now I do. Btw, now they have Curry over rice, Japanese style. Chicken-Katsu-Curry was pretty good. Ramen is still good. I must say that the place improved so much. This is one of a few good "Chinese-run Japanese". I am coming back.

Food: 3/5 Price: $$ Portion: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Appearance: 3/5 Presentation of food: 3.5/5 OVERALL: 3/5 Came here because my friend told me about it, I never noticed there was a Ramen place here at all until she told me. It's kind of small, not sure if there was a back room or not) since I didn't make my way back there). Speedy service for sure, ordered their Gyoza to start off; both Hubby and I got their Tonkatsu Ramen ($8.99) + Sweet Corn (+$1.00). Gyoza was yummy, light crisp on the skin and soft flavorful pork inside. When my waiter brought our ramen, I saw the bowl; I immediately thought that looks like a small bowl. But little did I know the depth of the bowl definitely fooled me, the ramen noodle kept coming never ending as I kept eating. lol. The broth itself needs a pick me up, lack in flavor/taste, seemed a bit bland. The tonkatsu pork was SUPER ULTRA THIN SLICED and they only give you 2... So that ramen ratio to the pork was a little confusing for me, because I needed more pork (and I didn't want to add it on since its extra). The egg was on the saltier side, I'm guessing its to balance out with the semi-bland broth? Nothing impressing, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

I like their maple leaf logo. Reminds me of MapleStory... Food came out of the kitchen at an OK pace. Since I was hungry, they were obviously not fast enough haha. And the blazing hot sun did not help. Had the soy milk ramen. The pork was good. Noodles were nice and chewy. Broth was ok. Also got the $2 pork fried rice for the lunch special... It was such a small bowl I was disappointed. Though the fried rice was pretty good, I wish they gave a bigger portion. Will I be back? Possibly. It's nothing to specially wait for or drive far to but if in the area and want ramen, this is a good quick fix.

the ramen broth here is AWESOME! I was with a party of 5, we arrived at 8.20pm on a Thursday we had to wait for about 30 minutes to get seated. I believe it's because it was a Thursday and this place is quite small. The spicy soy milk ramen broth is really good! The taste of the broth is very unique and if you have tried "Laksa" in Singapore before, this broth reminds me of the "Laksa" soup. Very unique broth taste! The broth is also spicy enough for me to get the spice kick but not overwhelming. The noodles are well prepared too. As with most other ramen joints, this place provided a huge amount of noodles. Might be good to share the bowl. I also tried the broth for the Spicy Tonkutsu - very flavorful too! The downside of the ramen is the chashu and the egg. chashu is very dry and the egg only came in a half and it was not very well marinated. I also had the Kakuni appetizer - came with 5 pieces of pork belly. This dish is extremely salty and the meat is pretty dry as well. The salty marinate is so overpowering that we did not finish this dish... This dish can be greatly improved. Give this place a try! The broth and noodles are worth the wait.

We were hungry so just picked somewhere closed by. We got to the restaurant around 5pm, and there were no customer in the restaurant. Which we felt kind of weird being the only customers in the restaurant. On the other hand, we got immediate seated and services. We ordered Tonkotsu Ramen, Spicy Tonkotsu, Chicken Ka arage and Takoyaki. The broth was on the light flavor side compared with other ramen restaurant, and the noodles don't had flavor. Chashu meats were average nothing special, but the soft boiled egg was flavorful. My bf's mild spicy Tonkotsu wasn't spicy at all. The Chicken Ka arages were surprisingly good. The chickens were perfectly fried golden and crispy, also the chickens weren't covered in breading. The Takoyaki was good because we liked takoyaki in general. The negative side of the restaurant, there were flies on the wall and fling around table. We were really annoyed on it. In addition, they charged $1 for a cup of Costco green tea. They make good profit from the tea. Would we go back again? Yes, for the convenience location and average price dinner. But hopefully next time, there won't be any flies fling around food.

Momiji is a small ramen place tucked between Michael's and Target in Colma. The seating area is very narrow, and I can see it being quite cramped when it gets busy, but if you go during down time, you'll be pleasantly surprised with what you find. If you can handle spicy, get the spicy tonkotsu ramen. The spice definitely adds a different dimension of flavor to the regular tonkotsu ramen. I appreciate that their menu is simple; you only get to choose the kind of broth you want and any add-ons (for an additional charge, of course). All of their ramen comes with a soft-boiled egg (which is perfect, btw), kikurage mushrooms, bean sprouts, and chashu, and each bowl runs from $8.95 to $9.95 base price. Oh, and if you have room in your stomach for more meaty goodness, try their kakuni pork belly. It is melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. Last thing -- $10 minimum charge for credit cards!

Servers are slow and need to be waved down. Most of the time they stand around zoning out. Appetizers need to come out first not after the entree being served. Please follow up if everything is ok not just drop off food and not say anything. Food: Croquette Deep fried calamari tentacles Deep fried baby octopus Deep fried boneless chicken (karaage) Spicy Soy milk Ramen Curry Karaage These are a must if you are looking for recommendations. Servers get your mind right before people start deducting your tip and you end up negative on your total. I have seen it done before from my friends who have experienced terrible service (from other eating establishments, not here, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone did that). I wish there was more privacy when seated by the big ol windows. It is awkward when the menu is right there and people are standing outside reading and gawking at you while you eat. Just saying. Hahahaha I eat like beast from beauty and the beast, I am messy cause I get hangry.

To be honest, this ramen place is OK. It's not bad but it's not anything incredible either. I suppose it's what you'd expect "mall ramen" to taste like. But it is pretty cheap so no complaints. It is a small space, but the place is interestingly decorated with cute little chalk drawings on their walls. They are usually pretty empty so service is pretty quick and the staff is nice and attentive. It's nothing I'd go out of my way for but if I was in the area and feeling a bit peckish, I could see myself coming back.

It's all about finding a niche, something that's unique, yet still caters to a certain crowd. So I thought Momiji, the new-ish ramen place (opened October 2013) in Colma, would thrive because all the other restaurants in the area are chains. With the mixed reviews about the food and service consistency, I was initially hesitant to give this place a try. But after a Target run and the fact that we were in the area, we figured, why not? I always order the tonkotsu ramen (pork bone broth), whenever I try a new ramen place. It's a common flavor, yet it can vary among restaurants. Momiji's tonkotsu ramen broth was oily and lacked a bold richness it should normally have. The noodles were a little too firm, and the chasu wasn't very flavorful either. I requested kakuni (pork belly) for an additional $2, but the two large and generously-portioned cubes were a little dry and too fatty. The most redeeming component in the soup was the beautiful and runny soft boiled egg. Although I didn't find the service to be particularly rude, I didn't think they were super friendly either. The food took a reasonable amount of time (less than 10 minutes) to arrive at the table, given that we visited on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was almost full. I like the addition of a ramen place in Colma, but I wouldn't come here from San Francisco just for the food.

To be honest I only came here because a friend of mine raved about their soy milk broth and I thought "Eh, why not". The interior of the restaurant was pretty neat with the chalkboard walls covered in drawings. I thought it was a nice touch to the decor. Now about the food, I started with takoyaki. The takoyaki was mediocre; it was nice and warm but there was almost no octopus in the takoyaki balls which made it kind of disappointing. I felt like I was eating a ball of flour covered in stale bonito flakes. Service was very slow and I was unable to flag down waiters (despite how small the restaurant is, there would be no way they would not have seen me). But after God knows how long I got my spicy soy milk ramen with bamboo. The noodles tasted like it was hand-pulled which made it chewier than most places. Overall the ramen tasted decent but right after I left I felt my mouth drying up like crazy. The amount of MSG added to the soup base was probably excessive which really discouraged me to go back for another bowl of ramen. Yikes..

Been here twice and enjoyed my ramen both times. It's nothing amazing but still hits the spot because i LOVE noodles. There are a few other options on the menu even though I haven't tried them (because I LOVE noodles) but it gives other people a chance to try other stuff when I go with them. I like that I can grab a bowl of ramen while in the area and then hit up Target next door. I would definitely come back.

Who knew there was a ramen place in Colma? My friend said she discovered it after going to Michael's (craft store- same plaza). The place is small but we were surprised when there were groups of people waiting outside. For $8, I got a tonkotsu ramen - not spicy. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the broth wasn't overly salty. It was a pretty standard bowl of ramen with a half egg and sliced pork. Service is good.

Not too shabby! With a few quick fixes, this place might actually take the cake for my no-wait-no-hassle ramen lunch stop. There's some definite potential here, and I think their selection of broth is far more varied and interesting than Takara's nearby. Came here with my coworkers and we were all very much intrigued by their soy milk ramen! Never even thought such a combination existed. I ended up ordering the spicy soy milk ramen and man! The broth was interesting in both taste and texture. It was almost creamy, and the amount of spice was perfectly balanced out by the evident soy. If you're looking for something different, I'd recommend trying out the soy milk broth! While the broth turned out pretty nifty, the other individual components were just a-okay. Chashu wasn't too great and slightly on the dry side. Could use some improvement. Their weren't exactly a lot of toppings that came with the ramen in general, but I can say that their egg was pretty darn good! Only comes in a half portion though. Noodles weren't particularly chewy or eggy, and they didn't have that house-made taste. They have a lot of additional toppings available, in which I'd recommend the sweet corn, PORK BELLY(!), and kimchee. The restaurant is on the small side, but thankfully there wasn't a lot of people dining in for lunch. Just expect to come out smelling like the food because the kitchen is smacked dab right into the restaurant. Will be back!

At one point in life i disliked this place cause it felt tacky and cheap in quality. But after the nightmarish experience at Ramen shop in oakland. My wallet was D.O.A because of that ill planned excursion. Holy hell. 16 dollars for a bowl of 8 dollar ramen not including additions..jesus christ...hipsters love to mess everything up.. But seeing how far off base my last review of monji was now...at least i can say this place will keep you warm on cold nights of studying or wasting away in class. But also allow your wallet to fight another day... On the most basic concepts of a food experience. I would rather go here instead of ramem shop...ramen shop would only make me wanna buy out the wine stock at Bevmo just to remeber what affordability was supposed to feel like.. So unless you're some beverly hill-billy with money for boxers and g-strings...momji isnt too bad an option for ramen at this point.

I don't have high expectations for ramen. Heck, I grew up on those $0.10 packages so anything else is good to me. While I do like the ramen places down the peninsula, Momiji has a nice niche up here. I thought the broth was flavorful, but could use a little more seasoning. What I love though is their kakuni - braised pork belly. This as an appetizer or as a rice dish is decadent. I could eat that all day! The times I've gone here, service was prompt and friendly. I like how they have some specials on their walls and really want to try their curry one day. Don't forget to order their side of fried rice if it's a special with an order of ramen. Good stuff.

Base o of the soup was the only thing it was decent the noodles were not right. The soup was bland. it was so bad I didn't want to finish my food and I wanted to go somewhere. but the service was I'm giving this a 2.

Overdue review. My girlfriend and I stumbled upon this establishment after we were done shopping inside Target. This was during their grand opening week and this place was PACKED. But fuuuuuuu we waited and tried it anyways. So after about 20 mins, we finally get seated. After looking at the menu for a good 5 mins, we decided to go with Takoyaki, 2 Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen, and a side of Chicken Karaage. Everything was on point. The only downside was that they were a bit stingy with their noodles and cha-siu (for me since I'm a big eater). Solution: Add extra noodles for $2. I definitely recommend trying this place out if you're in the area and craving for ramen. The noodles were pretty damn good (not your usual thin kind). I believe they are egg noodles? who knows, I'm not noodle expert but take my word for it. Only other place to grab decent ramen around the area is in Japantown. Good luck with parking there. PROS: Easy to find parking, broth is full of flavor, decent price CONS: Stingy with noodles and cha-siu. Cash/Credit accepted.

WILL NOT BE RETURNING I've passed by this ramen shop and read good reviews about this place; 2 nights ago, on a chilly Sunday, my family and I decided to give this place a try. This restaurant is small, so expect to wait outside at least 5-10, give/take. If there is a long wait, at least you can shop around Target, Michaels, BevMo, or the other shops to pass the time. We get seated and look at the menu; definitely ramen-focused with some non-noodle options for those not interested in ramen. I eyed the soy milk ramen and decided to order that, which comes with your basic toppings: 2 pieces of cha-shu, spring onions (which I opted out), a soft-boiled egg, and bean sprouts (which I also opted out). I also noticed, around the walls, they seemed to be advertising, perhaps a little much, their lunch special that comes with cha-shu fried rice for an extra $2.50. The waitress takes our orders and puts it into the computer. My family and I are then sitting and chatting, patiently waiting for our meals; after roughly 40 mins. my sister begins to notice, there's no meal coming out. One of us asks the waiter and he politely tells us that there are a lot of take-out orders that need to be attended to. okaaay...why would you make your in-house customers wait 40+ mins.?! I believe we, generally speaking, take precedence over customers who order take-out. I've never worked in a restaurant, but working in a bookstore, I know better to give in-store customers/clients priority over on-the-phone customers. It's about balancing your clients, and the staff here needs to work on balancing their time between in-house and take-out orders, regardless if you're understaffed I really wanted to give them 3 stars, but their balance of service is terrible; ok, this experience really should be 2.5 stars - at least the wait staff was polite and the ramen was good (though pricy). The soy milk broth was nice and warming to a chilly body, though the noodles could've been shortened so patrons don't take so long slurping each bite.

This place was really crowded during the first few months when they opened so I would never go in (hate small spaces with crowds) but last week it was empty so I felt it was a sign to give it a try. I love ramen and I've eaten at various ramen places in SF, San Mateo and Japan. I had miso ramen and thought it tasted pretty good (I've had worse in SF Japantown). The egg was delish as well. Honestly, the portion could have been a bit more. I guess they want you to order. I'm not a big fan of appetizers. The service was friendly.

Decent ramen, I would say you can find better places in the Sunset. But for being in SSF, this is my go to for my ramen cravings.

After 3 months from my last attempt at eating Bay Area ramen I finally found a place to satisfy my ramen craving. I had the spicy tonkotsu ramen with kakuni added. It wasn't too spicy, just the right level. The kakuni had loads of flavor. I tried some of the regular tonkotsu broth and it was very rich in pork flavor. Added plus there is actually parking as it's located at a strip mall.

When I think of Colma, three things immediately come to mind: 1. Target 2. Auto dealerships 3. Cemeteries (side note: the town's official motto is "It's great to be alive in Colma". Funny and kind of sad, but true). Based on that, I'm willing to give Momiji points for offering something different than the nearby chains. The fact that the "something" they offer just happens to be some pretty decent ramen (and something far less depressing than #3)? Even better! As my buddy and I settled into our seats, my expectations were already tempered. Between their mixed Yelp reviews and how quiet the restaurant was on a Sunday for lunch, I was just hoping the food wasn't bad. That way, with Target right next door, they'd make for a convenenient stop to grab a bite before/after getting some shopping done. -- GYOZA - Pan Fried Potstickers (5 pieces)...$4.50 ( yelp.com/biz_photos/momi… ) Although the filling may not have been unique (the taste was pretty standard), I thought they did a great job cooking the gyoza. The bottom was browned perfectly with a nice, crispy crust and the top was tender and soft. -- IKAGESO - Deep Fried Calamari Legs...$5.99 ( yelp.com/biz_photos/momi… ) It's a shame the order wasn't larger since it tasted pretty good. While the tips may have been a little overdone, I liked how crispy the legs were and how there was some flavor to the batter. -- SPICY TONKOTSU RAMEN with Chashu, Green Onions, Kikurage Mushrooms, Bean Sprouts, and a Soft Boiled Egg...$9.99 ( yelp.com/biz_photos/momi… ) It was kind of a bummer that the two pieces of Kakuni I added (as well as the chashu) were a bit dry, but they were sizable for the money (+$2.00). As for the rest of the bowl, I liked the noodles and I thought the spicy tonkotsu broth was pretty flavorful, though not as rich as others I've had (Saiwaii Ramen, for one). While others have noted that Momiji's service has been a weak spot, I thought it was fine. After she took our order and brought out our food, an older woman (the owner/manager?) came by on several occasions to refill our cups and to see how things were going. Nothing amazing, but not lacking either. Coimpared to what you can find further north (SF) or south (San Mateo), Momiji doesn't quite measure up with the better ones either area has to offer. However, overall, and compared to the alternatives in the upper Peninsula, Momiji is a pretty decent bet and better than Majikku over on Skyline.

Momiji is a pretty basic ramen restaurant. I really don't have anything bad or good to say about this place because nothing really stood out. The Tonkatsu ramen is pretty good but is lacking some flavor. The egg that came with it was pretty good though. Soft boiled, not too runny yet not too cooked. The spicy ramen is also pretty good but is not the best. My usual spot in Union City has a better spicy ramen but Mojiji's is not bad though. The appetizers are okay, calamari is mediocre at most. One time we ordered the takoyaki and it was pretty bland to be honest. I've had takoyaki at a couple other Japanese restaurants like Izakaya Sozai and it was a lot better. In conlcusion, Momiji isn't the best ramen restaurant but it certainly isn't the worst! 3/5 Would Take your yaki again Byeezy Out

2.5 but rounding up. I lied in my first review. I ended up coming back today with my mom. She tried for me, I thought she would like the regular pork bone (tonkashu) broth but she isn't a fan unless it's clear (sigh lol) well I got her leftovers at least. I tried the vegetable ramen today and again no beans sprouts but up charged a dollar for bamboo shoots. Also a dollar here to make it spicy (but I think there is a $1 difference between regular and spicy tonkashu too) And seriously $9-$11 a bowl of soup (without add ins)... With literally 2 pieces of meat, and not even good flavored meat (I've looked around at other ramen places and their photos of their garlic pork look much more appetizing, has dry rubs and spices on the outside etc). To add on meat is literally $1 a slice/piece. Maybe that's regular for ramen joints, I don't know since I'm basically a ramen Virgin. But seems very steep when for pho you get a handful of sliced meat for the soup or more for $6-$8 generally. I also tried the fried calamari legs which were either old or cooked way to long, they were so hard and tough my mom couldn't even bite threw a leg. I'm easier to please so I still ate them but they were definitely hard and not tender. And service is basically non existant. They smile at least, bit of language barrier. Yesterday my food took 3 times longer to get though. So in retrospect, wonder what happened then? They aren't rude persay but they don't check on you and you generally have to flag them down in a place that has tables in an area of like 60 sq.ft. Ps: Hiring for bussers and servers and helpers and dishwashers. What's funny is they have to call different numbers. Anyways there must be a reason this place is just 3 stars average. Makes me excited to try a 4 and 5 star ramen if I like this place as far as taste. Am I being too harsh by including price and service as issues? I kept my 3 star rating just in case instead of lowering to 2.

This ramen spot is surprisingly good. Portions are kinda small, but the broth is creamy and tasty. I've only been here once and it was during peak dinner hour, but the restaurant was empty, bad sign. But I gave them a chance and glad I did. I would definitely come back here again.

If you need a quick ramen fix around DC, I think Momiji is the best option. I had been fasting for 14 hours and I was starving and didn't feel like waiting. Of course there are a lot of other options in San Mateo but it's so far and you have to wait forever to get seated! I like Momiji because it's a place that you can go eat by yourself and not feel awkward! I ate there twice by myself and it was very enjoyable! They don't disturb you and only come over to clear your empty dishes after asking if it's ok to take them away! I like the chicken karage and I really like their spicy Tonkatsu ramen. I ordered the potstickers this time and I have to say I'm not a fan. I will try something different next time!

I can't justify the price for the amount that you are given. My BF and I came by a couple of months ago to grab a quick, late night dinner. They closed at 9 and we arrived around 8:35ish? I was iffy about eating there because I didn't want to be that customer who walks in last minute and make everyone stay half an hour after closing. The server was hesitant on seating us but the manager told her that it was okay. The ambiance is kind of old school, with graffiti on the walls as decor as well as some of their menu and the tables and chairs were black. I remember ordering the spicy tonkotsu and the shoyu ramen. For the amount that you receive, the price is not justified. It's wayyyy too little and you're left with hunger still in you. It is good but not somewhere I would pick to eat ramen at.

Our first experience here was great! The server was so nice. I'm all about the great customer service. We got the Tonkotsu Ramen with an extra egg. I love egg lol! The egg was soooooo good! If anyone had Orenchi before, this is pretty similar to it. The both is smooth and not as salty and to go back on the egg, it taste just as great!!! We definitely will come back :)

Was craving for ramen when I was shopping at Serramonte so I decided to look up a ramen place for lunch which I stumbled across Momiji which was across the 280. I got their Tonkatsu Ramen with a side of BBQ Pork Rice for an additional $2. The Tonkatsu Ramen was alright and could of used a bit more flavoring. They also gave very little meat. It did come with a boiled egg, mushroom and bean sprouts. But the ramen noodles were very good when it came to the texture. The BBQ Pork Rice was very good when it came to flavoring. The shop is very small with only a few tables so you can expect a long wait from time to time. I did like how they got creative with their walls by turning it into a giant chalkboard to show the specials they offer. Service at Momiji was average since there was only one waiter managing the who restaurant. Our water was rarely refilled nor did they check on us often. But the food does come quick here which was a plus. Momiji is overall not a bad place to eat if you are in Colma since the food options in this area is fairly limited.

Sign out board was outside and it was a cold day, But We stood inside to keep warm. The waiter asked us to step outside a little rudely but I was too cold. The waitstaff where Stoneface and couldn't crack a smile... A very bad first impression! We were sat first of 4 other tables and we got our food last! Although the chicken kaarage was good, there were Only 2 pcs -Really!? 2 pcs of pork came with my soup and were thinly slice and delicious, especially because there was hardly any fat. We got our bill and still no smile. When we left they thanked us and not sure if I'll come back since there are many other options out there!

Really intimate seating - 8 tables in a very narrow setup, you'll be literally rubbing elbows with the patrons next to you. A toddler was watching Barney HELLA LOUD on his parents iPhone and we heard every dreadful word of the episode while we ate. We could've stayed home with our own toddler and done that for free, right? * LOCATION: Momiji is a perfect pit stop in between errands, conveniently located in the same plaza as Target, Michael's, Game Stop, Bev-Mo in Colma, with lots of parking. So if I want a quick bowl of ramen and don't wanna wait an hour to be seated at Ramen Parlor / Ramen Dojo all the way in San Mateo, this will be my go-to (until another ramen joint opens up locally). * SERVICE: Our waitress was sweet and helpful with suggestions. But overall service left a little to be desired. It was a fairly slow night with tons of empty tables, yet we were only checked up on once, for a water refill, by someone other than our server. It took longer to receive our check than for our appetizer to get to the table. But I'm willing to give Momiji a second chance to dine in, cuz the food was decent (so decent that I came back for pick up before I could even write this review). * APPETIZER: Hubbz (aka the Wing King) & I enjoyed their karaage appetizer: 8 golden pieces of juicy bite-sized chicken (so crispy, it was reminiscent of Filipino chicken chicharon). Not bad for $4.99. * RAMEN: Each bowl of ramen comes with a slice of (bland) chashu pork, a perfectly runny soft boiled egg HALF, kikurage-mushrooms, green onions, and bean sprouts. For an additional $2, we each added 2 pieces of tender Buta No Kakuni (Japanese Braised Pork Belly) and a little Sweet Corn for another $1. My husband wasn't too impressed with his standard Shoyu Ramen. He felt like their wasn't enough broth in his enormous bowl, maybe cuz we're in a drought? LOL I, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed my Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen. Milky broth, perfectly al dente noodles, and a nice kick on a cold rainy evening. * VERDICT: Fair price, fair food, in a convenient location. We were stuffed after our cozy meal. Not bad for $32. We'll be back for more spicy tonkotsu ramen and to try the takoyaki that looked amazing.

Omg SOOOOO GOOOD!!!!!! I love ramen and haven't had it since going mostly vegan over 2 years ago, since usually the broth is usually pork- or other meat-based. I've asked at a number of ramen places, but usually they can't accommodate me with a veggie broth. Not only does Momiji have a veggie option, it is amazingly delicious!!! I got the soy milk veggie option, and the broth was creamy and flavorful - I wouldn't have known it was vegetarian if it hadn't been listed as such on the menu. The noodles were delicious and had a great texture. Egg noodles, so vegetarian but not vegan. Portions were good. Price was a little on the high side, I thought. Parking is easy since it is located in a strip mall. I considered 4 stars since the ramen is not vegan and the prices were a little high. But given how much difficulty I've had finding a veggie ramen option at all, have to give this place credit for offering an amazingly delicious vegetarian ramen, so 5 stars it is. Yum!!!

If you're looking for a casual restaurant to help you kick back and relax amidst the whirlwind that is the Target/Bevmo parking lot, Momiji is the spot for you! As far as the food goes, it's DECENT at best, in my opinion. The portions are a little smaller than your average ramen place, and the flavors were fairly lacking when compared to the broths of Japan (or even Japanese places in SF!) While I did find it hard to accept the fact that my 2 little gyozas were a dollar each, I can say that pricing is fair otherwise. Everything is in the $8-$11 range, which is pretty typical of the Peninsula. I'm stretching for details here as this place was soooo very ordinary... The friendly staff made my experience an enjoyable one, and the joint was clean, although I don't think those reasons are compelling enough to have me returning here.

**Review on the food only** When they first opened, we were not a fan of the raven. It didn't have enough flavor and we felt that we needed to season it a but more (sign of bad ramen). They must have gotten their act together because we love the raven here now. The Tonkatsu with pork belly and eggs is scrumptious! Make it spicy and it's that much better. Timing of completed order, bagged and ready to go is very accurate, too (15-20 min. Get there in 18 minutes and you're good to go). Overall very happy with the takeout.

Momiji is very small and only has about 6 tables. IMO, the layout of the restaurant was designed poorly as there's a long narrow hallway that's just wasted space. The menu is simple and quite limited. Food: We ordered: Takoyaki (octopus balls) ($4.99) - this is probably the second time I've eaten an awful takoyaki. There was more flour than octopus (2:1) and it was soggy. Don't waste your money ordering this! Ikageso (deep fried calamari legs) ($4.50) - don't waste your money ordering this either! It was definitely not worth $4.50 as they barely gave you anything. Plus, it was over fried. Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen - The broth and noodles were just average. The noodles were too soft, was more of an egg noodle (compared to Ramen Dojo), and barely had any pork essence. Also, it didn't have any heat (or I just eat too spicy). Tonkotsu Ramen ($8.99) - Like the spicy version, it was just average. Service: friendly

Not impressed at all. I came here with a friend on a Friday night. Of course there was a wait, and it was to be expected. So, we put our names on the waiting list outside and patiently waited. After 30 minutes, my friend's name was called and it was off to our table. D I N N E R I ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen, and was not impressed. The noodles were weird, it was definitely not the type of noodles that are served in authentic Japanese ramen restaurants. It reminded me of these Chinese egg noodles, or something. In addition, the soup wasn't anything special. Definitely, not satisfying because normally I'd be shoveling spoonfuls of soup into my mouth. T H E R E ' S A L W A Y S R O O M F O R D E S S E R T The saving grace of this dinner was the Green Tea Cheesecake. Yes, it was as good as it sounds! YUM! C O N C L U S I O N I'll never come back to Momji, not even the Green Tea Cheesecake they serve could get me to come back again. But, the dessert did convince me to give a rating of two stars, rather than one.

I never heard of this place until a friend mentioned it in a group chat, since then my bf and I were interested in trying it out. The environment is not too bad. It's clean; not super big but not too small either, might seem a little small if it's packed. We started off with the seaweed salad, which I personally liked a lot. Not like it's hard to make seaweed salad but most ones I order from other restaurants are a little too wet, but this one was just right. It would make a lot of sense to compare this place to Ramen Dojo but I've only eaten there once which was a while ago so I couldn't really make the comparison. But regardless, I really enjoyed my meal here. I got the extra spicy miso with chicken karaage. The portions are a good size and the broth is really good, the extra spicy was exactly the kind of spicy I like. I might have a little heartburn later, but the 'hurts so good' type of heartburn My bf got the Japanese curry rice plate, it wasn't to die for or anything but it was still pretty good. The katsu could have been more panko-y, but we didn't expect too much from it anyways, it's not like they specialize in it. Satisfying nonetheless. Service was OK. Besides having to ask for the water and napkins which really wasn't a big deal, our waitress was nice and accommodating. Parking is pretty easy since it's the lot of Target Colma's little plaza.

Went back today with my kids and husband. Definitely loves this place. Their ramen is not salty. I have been on other ramen house before and they are usually way too salty for me. Momiji is just right. Also love their pork belly's. So yummy.

I'll break it down into 3 categories, taste, portion size and service. Taste: I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and Bf ordered Kakuri Rice Bowl. I've had better Ramen, its a meh. For the price I expected a little better in quality. The broth is on the bland side ( and I eat bland). his dish the pork was more chewy then soft. Portion: Ramen bowl wasn't bad, its a good size bowl. the Rice bowl was tiny! with only 4 small pieces of pork. Bf was barely half way full and thats including the appetizer. Service was efficient enough. we got seated, got our order, and left. no fuss no muss. would I return? nope.

This place is decent and a good option when I'm in the neighborhood. Their broth has a deep flavor which most ramen places lack. My first visit was around the time they just opened and It was wackkk! Over priced and had to pay for almost all my toppings. Recently I came back and it was much better, I honestly don't even know if they changed anything. I tried the Shio & Tonkatsu in both regular and spicy. They're all good. I didn't care for the Chicken Karaage, but I did enjoy the fried Octopus. Definitely a must the next time I visit. Service was slow, it took forever for our food to come out. Overall this is the best food option in this area. I do think Ramen is over priced, but will gladly come here over Sizzlers or any of the other unappetizing selections in the area.

I didn't even know this place even existed until this weekend when I was hunting for an item at Michael's next door. I don't particularly recall what was here before, but it's a welcome addition to this strip mall in Colma. So this Sunday, I decided to take the Wifey here for some Ramen after spending some time in the City. I didn't want to look for parking in the City, and I wanted someplace close to home. I am a Ramen junkie so any good Ramen that is close by our house is a plus. When we arrived, I sprinted (more like a brisk walk) to the sign-in sheet before another patron could write down their name. Hey, it's a jungle out there and it's either kill or be killed. The wait wasn't too long and we got seated approximately after a 5 minute wait. The first thing I immediately noticed is the layout of the place. It's long and narrow and they could probably make better use of the space by adding more tables down the long hallway. But the layout didn't make the best use of the space. It only seats 25-30 people at best. The walls are painted in a deep, dark red color that made me feel like I was going blind. A little touch of brightness here and there or some painting might break the dreary decor and ambiance that it's emoting. It felt like a hangout joint for Goths and Emos. Anyways, the service was nice and quick and Wifey and I both ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and a side of Kakuni Bowl over rice. I ordered extra Chasu (always) and wifey ordered extra Kakuni (braised Pork Belly) with hers. The first to arrive was the Kakuni Bowl. It's three pieces of braised Pork Belly on a small bowl or rice. It was good (not great) and hit the spot for a decent starter. Then when the Ramen arrived, it comes in a pretty decent-sized bowl so you get a good portion of broth and noodles. The bowl was kinda too big as it looked out of proportion with the rest of the ingredient. First sip of the broth was OK. I wasn't blown away by the flavors. I have high expectations for Ramen after having had some in LA and Vegas, I have yet to find one that matches my experience in the San Francisco area. The broth was missing something. It was good, but it lacked punch. The place could benefit if they offer sides of garlic or pepper ala Himawari in San Mateo to add some touch of texture and flavor. The noodles were OK and the Chasu was pretty bland and on the dry side. The only thing good was the Kakuni. My experience was just OK. It has potential, but not a place I would come running to for some Ramen. If I was in the area and was hungry, yeah...I'll go back again. But until then, my quest for good Ramen close to home continues.

Great idea to put a ramen place here... to my knowledge, it's the only one in the area. There's little seating, so I can see it getting crowded during the busy times (weekends and mealtime). Service was awesome. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. I bought a Groupon and feel like it was worth the Groupon price. The ramen was good. It wasn't super fantastic, but it was good. The broth in the regular tonkotsu ramen was good and the noodles were just fine. I like how a lot of toppings are already included in the dish, including a perfect soft boiled egg. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if I was in the area and wanted ramen, it would definitely be a good option.

The vegetarian ramen was tasty but nothing special. I think it's ridiculous that they charge $1 extra for seaweed or tofu. I probably would only come back if I was really hungry and out of options in the area.

Delicious! We're native South Bay residents, so we frequented the likes of Orenchi Ramen, Ramen Dojo, Ramen Parlour, and Santouka! Moving to SSF, we were in the market for a ramen joint nearby. This place is nestled away in Colma, which is genius. You don't have to go all the way to San Mateo! The broth is delicious (they could use more meat). Get the Spicy Miso or the Spicy Soy Milk broths! Their Takko-Yaki (did I spell that right?) is on point, too. Great staff. It's a little dark and cold in the restaurant, though. Definitely not a deal breaker. We've eaten there at least twice a month and have been satisfied every time.

Momiji has slowly been improving upon opening. They still have a bit to work on with their noodle consistency but their soup broth has been drastically improving. I usually order the spicy soy milk here and it is delish compared to the spicy tonkatsu. Has a sweet side to the broth, compared to the salty, slightly bitter tonkatsu broth. Their chashu isn't the worst. Their kakuni was nothing special and dry. Also... they charge for hot tea.

Like many in their younger years, I took karate lessons. For a brief period I recalled having a substitute. In that time, I could tell, whatever the sub taught nothing seemed quite right. Techniques weren't crisp or meticulous. The sub wore a black belt, but the execution missed the mark. Momjii reminded me of that substitute teacher. Fast forward into mid dinner with Bun in present time, and she's running through her daily happenings. That memory was all I could think of when sipping a spoonful of my SPICY TONKOTSU RAMEN broth. Looking down at my bowl I was near half done. Swore I just started. Serving portions are not that big. Noodles have a relatively good bite that people look for. The broth on the other hand, tanks it in. My tonkotsu tasted watered down and was short on depth. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, blame the ramen... I've been here more than once. Each time it was like running into a wall thinking the next time would cure a headache. Does that make sense? Ramen superficially looks like a winning black belt champion. After tasting it disappointment sets in finding out the ramen grades out to be some dude with crappy side-kicks that can't punch through two wooden boards. If you're desperate, try at your own risk.

As many people have mentioned, Momiji is at a convenient location. Plenty of parking and shops in the same plaza. The restaurant is quite small. Their kitchen area takes up more than half of the space. Luckily we didn't have to wait long for a table. I was pleasantly surprised to find soy milk ramen on their menu. I've only seen it at one other restaurant. I opted for the spicy soy milk one, which I somewhat regret after. The broth was flavorful, but I was disappointed because it had no resemblance to soy milk. Instead it had a slight herby note to it, which I found peculiar but not bad. The pork belly was good. Tender and not overly fatty. I would skip the chicken karage next time. Decent place to go if you're in the area and craving ramen!

I ordered the Curry Rice Plate w/ Tonkatsu. So-so portion, curry's flavor was marginal, average portion of tonkatsu. Nothing close to what you get at any place in Little Tokyo, DTLA. For $9.99, I'd rather go to Ono Hawaiian BBQ to satisfy my Katsu fix. Survey says: "ehhhhhhhhhh."

Every story needs a good setting and so does eating ramen. Today's weather was perfect for ramen. I parked my car and ran across the parking lot through the pouring rain to Momiji. Luckily, there was no wait and I got seated right away. I ordered ikageso karaage and the spicy tonkatsu ramen. The ikageso was good, perfect batter and tender squid. It came with a sirracha mayo dipping sauce. There was no lemon though. The broth was creamy, spicy and full of great flavor. Noodles cooked al dente, just the way I like it. The half an egg was perfectly boiled so that the yolk was still slightly runny. HOWEVER, the portion part of this bowl of ramen is what prevents me from giving Momiji 4 stars. The bowl itself was huge and had lots of broth. The toppings and noodles though were lacking. Compared to other noodle joints (i.e. ramen dojo, ramen parlor, himawari) where I don't need extra noodles and leave really full, Momiji definitely could add a handful more. If you fished out all the noodles, it probably is enough for a kid size portion. I'm complaining because I wasn't full...add more noodles and i'll add another star, M!

Ramen has always been a crush of mine. Having grown up along the foggy cliff side in Daly City, I have always enjoyed warm bowl of broth and noodles. And with the internet, I can find some of the best places that make a mean bowl of ramen. And to be honest, there's some serious competition in the peninsula alone. With that being said, Momiji is okay. Because of the location, a cold and foggy town, you're probably going to see a lot of 4 stars. Ramen will be satisfying in Colma just as shaved ice is satisfying in Hawaii. I don't mean to down play other reviews, but just so you can make a more informed decision. The broth is really what holds this place back for me. I order the Spicy Miso Ramen and the broth has been slightly different each time. Sometimes more creamy, sometimes more spicy, or sometimes just boring. I think you have be a little creative over here and really look over the add-on options, such as the pork belly, to improve your ramen. To really get the most out of Momiji, you're going to literally have to pay for it with those extras. If not, you will get simply get a soft-boiled egg, kikurage mushrooms, bean sprouts, and chashu. I never had a problem with the noodles. The sides are pretty standard and taste like you would expect them to. My friends and I usually order chicken karrage and potato croquettes as sides. Never terrible, never amazing. Overall, I don't have anything too negative to say. There are just other places that do it a lot better either for an equal or lesser value.

Love this place. They have a list outside for their busy times, but every time I've been here, I've been immediately seated. Wait staff is really nice and accommodating. Definitely my favorite place outside of SF or San Mateo. I always get spicy soy. Under $10 if you don't add any extras.

I read all of the reviews on the first page of yelp, and have been curious about trying this place since its right down the street. I've eaten ramen in a number of places around here (My temple is the one in Mitsuya Market in Santa Clara...yum..don't waste any time just go there) and I figured this place was worth a shot....no....it was a terrible choice. Rule #1 of any ramen place is to have a KILLER broth. A ramen broth should be like I am trying to drink a pork chop. There should be a layer of pork fat on the top of my tonkotsu ramen that I have to dig thru in order to pull out my meat, veggies and noodles so I can slowly bath them in the luscious juicy fat on the top. At Momiji, there is little to no fat on the top. That's a HUGE concern as that just shouldn't be. Ramen broth is normally so full of meat and bones that its impossible to not have the layer of fat except for one way...You water down your broth a lot. I'm talking the broth I got was so watered down that I couldn't taste salt at all. It was a miserable experience to see my favorite dish so mistreated that it caused me to feel sad with each bite. Rule #2: Nice thick cut of Charshu....You wont find that here. The charshu was so thinly sliced that I held it up with the expectation of seeing my wife on the other side. Just sad, the slice was about a millimeter thick tops and was super stringy. Very lean, stringy, not seasoned and again...very sad. It was a little slice of mediocrity on top of my bath water broth. Rule #3: Lots of toppings - NOPE, very very meager on the toppings. There was a small pinch of mushrooms, a small pinch of onions and lots of bean sprouts. IF the ingredient was cheap, you got a LOT of that. Who needs to depth of flavor of earthy mushroom or fresh taste of onion in your bite of delightful ramen (which it wasnt), you'll get the flavor of watered down broth, with limp noodles and all the watery crap tasting bean sprouts you want. In conclusion, This place is not a ramen house. It's a restaurant that was formed to give you a meal for under 9 bucks a dish and thats about it. Satisfaction is not the goal, just putting something solid into your belly. You'll leave here disappointed but not hungry. Soon after your mind will wonder to the deliciousness you missed out on, and you'll drive up the street to in-and-out to get a burger and fries just to make you feel happy again to be alive. Having this food in my stomach was so depressing, I had to bring out my inner hobbit and have a second dinner or I probably would have felt miserable all night. Avoid unless you really enjoy watered down everything and eating at a place who doesn't care about their food but just churning bodies in and out for under 10 bucks a plate.

This place is quite good. For all you ramen purist, you'll notice right away that the place is owned and run by Chinese. But when it comes to good food, nationality shouldn't come into play. I had the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen. The broth was creamy and hot and the noodles had a nice bite to them. Was it the best ramen I've ever had. Probably not, but it offers a great food option to the area. The only things I didn't like about this place is the limited seating and value. Don't let the line fool you. It's not because it's popular; it's because the restaurant is very small. As for value, it's pretty pricey for the portion size you get.

I had this place bookmarked since it first opened. But I never got the chance to go because I didn't have time. So today my stinker and I got out of class early and drove our asses over here! Always exciting when something that you can usually get only at SF or San mateo opens up in Daly city/south San Francisco/colma. I love love LOVE ramen, and before this place opened up, I could only really get ramen in SF. But yay momiji is here with ramen! It wasn't too busy during lunch hour, so stinker and I were seated pretty fast. Its a pretty small place, so this isn't a great place for huge parties. The workers were really nice, came to us quickly and actually acknowledged us lol. I don't mind that they asked if we were ready to order after only 5 minutes of looking at the menu, because I'd rather have that than have no worker ask for my order after 30 minutes of looking at the menu. Since its our first time, one of the workers made suggestions about what was good and what he thought was good. Good customer service if you ask me. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with extra sweet corn (I was dying for corn lol) and stinker ordered tonkotsu ramen, gyoza (pot stickers), and kakuni (braised pork belly) appetizer. The pot stickers I liked. Didn't try the pork belly (not the biggest fan of belly parts of animals lol). I'm kinda sad that I didn't get that "UGHH TASTE SO GEWD" feeling when I ate my ramen. The broth was exceptional, but it wasn't super. It tasted kinda bland to be honest. Maybe I needed more toppings but even then, I think I needed some seasoning or idk. The noodles were chewy, and some of them were stuck together even after being drenched in the hot broth. They finally accept card! But the minimum is $10, easy if you're buying for two or if you order a lot cuz you're hungers or something. Overall, this place is O-K. Definitely willing to give it another shot, but there is always room for improvement :-). Kudos for being near Michael's and Target though!

1st ever visit, got 3 ramen soups (miso, spicy tonkatsu, spicy soy milk) togo. Soup flavor is best of the local ramen places in the Daly City/Colma/So City area. My favorite was the spicy tonkatsu but all 3 flavors were great. Only 2 thin pieces of pork which is why they don't get the full 5 stars. We also tried the pork belly appy which too had great flavors but I missed having daikon or some other veggie to go with it.

LOVE this place!! My husband isn't as excited as I am. He loves the ramen too, but the space is a little to small for him (he's 6'4") it is a bit cramped, but I like small tucked away places. The ramen is sooo good!! Im excited to finally have such a good ramen place close to me now! And the chalk art on the walls are pretty neat to look at while your eating.

I wouldn't get the ramen again. Noodles were tough and the broth was okay, definitely had better for the price. I also had the takoyaki and chashu don which were pretty good.

Ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen. Tasted ok but a bit heavy on the msg. My biggest problem was the amount of pork. Two measly thin slices for a ten dollar bowl of noodles?! Are you kidding me?! I can get pho on Noriega for the same price or cheaper and way more meat... Now don't get me wrong pho is not the same as ramen but you get the point I hope.

Oh Momiji, you have definitely found yourself a place in my life. Came here around 6:20pm and had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table. You can write your name on the waiting list that's hanging outside (if it's crowded). There is a limited number of tables available although they do have extra chairs towards the back of the restaurant in case you need to add a seat to your table. And the seats that are against the wall are kind of close together so going in and out might be a bit of a struggle. Finally seated and with menus, we were given a few extra minutes to look over the menu. The menu itself is limited in each category which is awesome cos that means you won't get overwhelmed. By the way, hot green tea is $1. They do refill it .. with hot water. My tea was just warm, though. Not hot. Between my boyfriend and I, we got the takoyaki as an appetizer then one soy milk ramen and one spicy tonkatsu ramen. The takoyaki ($4.99) was definitely yum in my book. My soy milk ramen ($7.99) was good, too. The noodles were kind of stuck together like they weren't boiled long enough and they don't give you a piece of seaweed like every other ramen place, but the flavor is there. As for the tonkatsu... my boyfriend said it was good so I'll go by his words. Service wise? A+. No, seriously. The waitress who takes orders came over to ask us how the food was, do I need a refill... and the other waitress who hands the food out did the same. Seriously, we were not ignored at all. It was great! And yes, there is a bathroom! Just walk inside and all the way down the end of the long hallway. When you reach the end, the bathroom is on the right side! It's just one unisex restroom so be aware of that. Overall: 4 stars. This place could work on it's noodles a bit, but it's not the worse ramen place I ever been to, however, it's not the best either. This place is just a good option to have when I do not feel like driving all the way to SF or San Mateo for ramen. :)

Spicy Pork soup with the Karage and bbq pork fried rice was a good combo to share between 2 people. The food arrived hot and didn't even give me a chance to look at my phone .... I like that ! Best spot in my opinion for any locals looking for a quick bite !

Sometimes I hate posting yummy spots on Yelp because it just increases the wait time when i go there! But what kind of Yelper would I be if I didn't share? Solid Tonkotsu Ramen. The broth was tasty and smoky. It had plenty of ramen noodles. And the basic toppings already include a slice of chashu, sliced green onions, kikurage mushrooms and a soft boiled egg. You can additional toppings for $1-$2 each, but that was all I needed. Ikagesu, Takoyaki, and Karaage are good appetizers as well. Now I can't say that this is the best I've ever had, but definitely one of the best in this area. I'm SO glad they opened up shop because this will now be our go-to ramen spot. The service was attentive as well and they even made sure to ask if everything was okay. I had to chuckle when I was unable to eat my whole bowl of ramen because I was already full and the waiter asked me if there was something wrong with my ramen. Oh no. It was delicious! But I just had no more room! Colma. You just came up!

I had dinner at Momiji during this week and was very pleased with the restaurant. I tried the: -- Kakuni Don: Very flavorful and tender pork with green onion over fluffy rice. if you aren't craving ramen, get a large order of this. We ordered a small bowl but they do offer this without rice if you're watching the carbs. -- Takoyaki: Tasty, with big chunks of octopus. Exterior is crispy and interior is fluffy. -- Spicy Miso Ramen + Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen: The highlight of the bowls was the noodles which were smooth, slightly thick with a bite to them. The spicy miso broth had good miso flavor and was much spicier than the spicy tonkotsu broth as it was speckled with lots of red pepper. I thought the spicy tonkotsu broth was good but I thought it could have had more pork essence. Service was very friendly and I swear the entire restaurant staff said thank you when we left which I appreciate. There isn't a ton of seating and although there was only one other customer slurping up his bowl of noodles when we got there around 5:30, it sure starting filling up just a few minutes after we sat down. I think folks are catching on to this place, even this little girl who just put a smile on my face. Her mom was taking a look at the menu posted outside and the little girl stepped part way in to Momiji, took a look around and tugged her mom's arm saying, "mommy, let's eat here. let's eat here, mommy. mommy, I wanna eat here." I know exactly how that little girl felt, and lucky for her, mommy said okay. Hours posted on the front during my visit: M-F: 11:30-2:30pm / 4:30-9:30pm Sat: 11:30-9:30pm Sun: 11:30-9:00pm

The Gyoza was very tasty and the staff was really friendly particularly Nicole! I got the spicy soymilk ramen because I'm lactose intolerant and it was actually surprisingly good. I would suggest getting an extra serving of meat if your hungry. All in all really great. We'll be back for sure!

Needed to pick up something from Michael's so decided to try out this ramen place next to it. We got in around 6 PM and there was no line. We ordered 1 spicy tonkotsu, 1 spicy tonkotsu with bamboo, and a kakuni (pork belly) as appetizer. Both the pork belly and ramen took awhile to get to us after we ordered. The pork belly was good and doesn't taste oily but wish it could be warm or hot (it was cold - not sure if it should be cold). The spicy tonkotsu was good and flavorful. The egg was cooked perfectly. There's only two thin slice of chashu in the ramen so order more as sides if you need more meat. The ramen has a thick layer of oil on top (approx. 0.05 inch) but it's rich and creamy. The noodle has a nice chew to it - liked the noodle a lot. I had some leftover and heated up the next day and still enjoyed it.

I love the spicy tonkotsu ramen here. It's nice to have a ramen spot around here, especially when you don't want to drive to San Mateo or further to get to the renowned ones. The rice bowls are good too, it's nice to get a side order. My fiancé liked the soy milk ramen, but couldn't really elaborate on it. It's so cute inside, too! Friendly staff.

Pros: great ramen/appetizers, great service, accepts card Cons: not many options for the pork-allergic My boyfriend and I came in for dinner with a friend one night. The restaurant was crowded so we had to wait a little bit outside. Once a table opened, we were seated and our waiters gave us plenty of time to look over the menu. Okonomiyaki, tako yaki, and fried chicken were the appetizers that we ordered. They were all good, especially the okonomiyaki! Delicious! I got the Vegetarian ramen with soy milk broth and it was surprisingly really good as well. I didn't expect it to be so good being a soy milk broth but it was creamy and the vegetables added a lot of flavor to the noodles. Our waters and tea were filled whenever they needed to be. An enjoyable experience at Momiji. Everyone was friendly and the service was spot on. Not a bad place for a decent bowl of ramen.

I love it whenever a new restaurant opens up in my neighborhood which rarely ever happens. I got really excited when I saw that Momiji opened up where Taqueria Polanco use to be located. The restaurant is pretty small because the place was originally a deli before Polanco took over, so there's more kitchen space than table space. But then again, that seems to be the norm with any Ramen spot. The menu is pretty simple with a few appetizers and rice dishes which I like because it mainly focuses on the Ramen and doesn't try to add to too much to be like an Izakaya. This strictly a Ramen house for sure! If there's one appetizer you should try, definitely get the Kakuni (Braised Pork Belly). bit.ly/17TlNOz You can also add this to your Ramen. The pieces were cooked very nicely and the just melted in my mouth. Really good stuff! I had the Tonkotsu Ramen with extra Kikurage Mushrooms and 2 pieces of Chicken Karaage. bit.ly/17PHwGX The noodles were thick, very similar to Men Oh which I actually enjoy since it gives the noodles a nice chewy texture. The Chashu was cooked nicely and the Tonkotsu broth was very flavorful. I've been very picky with my Ramen as of late, and while it's no Ippudo, Orenchi, or Ramen Dojo, the Ramen here is pretty legit and enjoyable. Currently they only take cash, but they will be taking credit cards as soon as their system gets set up in the near future. I could definitely see myself coming here very often since it's very close to my work. They're off to a good start and I hope they do well in the future.

Good food! Ramen is decent. Pork belly don is to die for. Karaage is mediocre. (Missing that ginger zing). Prices = reasonable. Service is blah. Small seating area. I prefer take out. I love ordering take out from here when I'm running errands at Michaels, BevMo and/or Target.

Surprised by this little place, was actually very tasty. Ramen itself is decent, but the additions are great! The fried chicken was fantastic, would probably order that by itself. Egg was cooked perfectly. Also, ordered the octopus balls which had fish flakes on it, yummy and hard to find!

Broth was bland. Serving size smaller than others I've been to. Pork was sliced paper thin versus others who serve 2 generous portions. You don't get the whole hard boiled egg rather half (what's up with that?). Husband got the pork and rice. Was served way earlier than the rest of us who had the ramen. As polite as he is, he waited for us to get our food so we could eat all together. Had to cover the bowl with a napkin as there was a hungry fly hovering over it. All-in-all, ambiance is cool. Servers aren't rude at all. Quite nice actually. Their lunch special ($2.50 bbq pork fried rice with an order of ramen) seems like a good deal hoping it's not a small itty bitty kiddy size bowl. Don't trust their portion sizes. Might be back. Hopefully broth gets better and portion sizes are a wee bit more generous.

I am addicted to Momiji's Spicy Soy Milk Ramen. It is so creamy and so delicious! Perfect on cold/rainy/foggy days and usually don't have to wait for a table. It's kind of pricey ($12 with tax and tip) but it is really convenient to get to, easy parking and that soy milk broth- Yummmm!

  • jazzy l.

Tonkatsu broth was bland. The serving bowl is huge but the portion of soup/noodle was small. $8.99 and $1 more of add-on's like "bamboo, roasted seaweed, etc". Chicken Karrage was okay. Nothing great.

Nothing too exciting here. The broth is pretty good and I really liked the egg. The noodles are familiar -- I think these are the ones that you can buy in bulk in a store, and they aren't that great. They're fine, but not great. In general, nothing to get too excited about but a decent choice for lunch if you want ramen are in the area.

Coming from San Jose there is always a neighboring ramen place nearby so when I came to Daly City, upon a lack of vast exploration I found this place. The closest ramen place by my house in Daly City. Their appetizers are great! However... With their ramen it is a bit lacking in something. I'm no ramen expert but there's just a little something missing. I've tried the spicy miso, spicy tonkotsu, and the spicy ... Soy sauce one. My favorite by far is the spicy miso. The tonkotsu is good but lacks something. Whereas I got the spicy soy sauce one on accident because the waitress got our order wrong. It wasn't horrible but I really don't remember the taste. I guess that's what's missing. I never crave the actual place but because it's the closest one to me in Daly City I go when I'm craving ramen. Ajisen Ramen on Scott's Creek is my favorite and nothing can really compare so I guess I'm a bit biased. However, their service, appetizers and ambiance is great! Giving it a two stars, as well as the ramen with another two stars. It's not horrible but it just is missing that extra umph. Oh and their wakame(sp?) salad is the best!! For that, I crave every day of the week.

3.5 stars A ramen place in Daly City... very smart especially with the weather that we get here. I think this place will do better than the Taqueria and sandwich shop that occupied this area. Maybe I'm giving this place more stars coz it's convenient to get to. I'm no ramen expert but their food is good enough. pork belly rice bowl (side) - husband and I shares this, love how tender the belly is. tonkatsu ramen - prefer this because broth is more flavorful. Compared to other places though, they don't put much topping in their ramen. Hubby usually gets karaage with his ramen. Would we come back? We have because it's nearby and we don't have to wait long. Sometimes we just gotta eat and go.

I have been at this restaurant once before but I did not review it so I do it this time. Last week on Saturday I visited once again for dinner. It was at about 9PM and the place was quiet with only a few clients. I ordered korokke with curry and Ramune. The food came quite quickly (5-10 minutes at the most). Korokke consisted of 3 pieces and a good portion of curry with white rice. The curry was light and I could barely feel any spiciness (it was very mild, just the way I like it). Korokke was very good. The potato was not creamy as in made with butter which ruins the texture and the flavor. It tasted like potatoes, it was firm and it was coated with a crunchy shell. The rice was perfect with the curry. The two just came together magically. I haven't had a Ramune drink for a while. Sadly, I was not excited by it. It's more carbonated than I remembered. I really enjoyed my dinner and I plan to visit again in the future to try other courses, in particular ramen which I think I had the first time I visited and quickly tasted once again last Saturday.

A friend mentioned this new ramen spot and we decided to give it a try. We were feeling adventurous as there aren't many ramen restaurants in this area. When we walked in, we noticed that this was quite a small restaurant with only 8 tables, which 2 were tall cocktail tables that seated two. I would recommend a group larger than 4. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm. The restaurant was full. After we ordered, there was a line outside! I liked that there were several soup base options: miso, spicy miso, tonkatsu, spicy tonkatsu, soy, soy milk and spicy soy milk. All bowls of ramen include a slice of chasu, sprouts, half a soft boiled egg, mushrooms and green onions. Extra toppings are either $1 or $2. Two Gyoza was $2, a bit pricey. I ordered the spicy tonkatsu brother ramen and added Gyoza. I felt the soup was quite tasty but not as spicy as I usually like. My friend ordered the same thing but he felt it was quite spicy. The noodles were chewy and the portion was plentiful. Overall, I would come again but not sure if it is worth waiting in line for this place.

It's interesting that they have decided to open a ramen joint tucked in the corner of the shopping plaza. Pretty small spot, long narrow restaurant that's painted pretty much all black (why most ramen paroles are painted black?) The animated old lady with a purple bow in her hair took our orders and our food soon came after. I ordered the potstickers and it was pan fried to perfection. The only downer is that they Are the potstickers comes in prepackaged goods, too bad it's not house made. My fiancé got the spicy miso ramen, it wasn't the best nor the worse. It was decent for a ramen place in south San Fran. Where else can you do a little shopping at Target and grab a bowl of ramen?

It was OK. I'm not super technical when it comes to the logistics of ramen. The noodles were egg noodles, so a little more al dente. I enjoyed my spicy miso broth. For the price, I'm not sure it was worth it. The friend I went with wasn't impressed either. I may be back because it is so close to where I live.

Half an hour and I've only been served soda and tea. There are only 4 small parties. 35 minutes: two fried gyoza, very cold. Flavor is okay. 40 minutes and two bowls of ramen are finally out. Not worth the wait, but far from being considered bad quality.

You know, I've been to Momiji quite a few times and when they first opened, all I could think of was "Yes! Finally, a ramen spot in Daly City!" I came here for the first time almost half a year ago. First impression: the inside is actually pretty cool. They have their specials written on the walls in chalk and the ambiance was almost like a hangout spot. I decided to try their miso ramen and quite frankly, it was way too salty! Their ramen was so salty that I stopped coming here for awhile purely because their ramen wasn't good. I decided to try it again a few weeks ago and I ordered the chicken karage donburi bowl. This my friend was in fact very good! Some of my best chicken karage I've ever had. I've been back often ever since but I've always ordered the chicken karage. My most recent visit to Momiji, I decided to try the ramen one last time. I ordered the tonkatsu this time and it was quite the opposite of my first thoughts of the ramen. What I once thought was too salty was not not flavorful at all. I have decided that their ramen is just not flavored to my liking but I will come back for the chicken karage. Many of my friends have tried their ramen and can tell you they like it but personally, the ramen has no flavor. Overall, service is good, prices are reasonable and location is ideal. If you're done shopping at Target, this spot is definitely a go-to!

It's 2:45 on a Saturday, and I have a huge craving for ramen. However, all the usual San Mateo spots are closed till 530. I remember walking by this place and saying to myself I'd have to try it. Since they are the only ramen spot I know of that doesn't close during the day, I figured I'd give it a try. I ordered the spicy tonkatsu, which cost $8.99 with no added condiments. Depending on what you want, could range from $1-$2 per topping. The broth of the ramen was pretty good - creamy and just a bit spicy, which was perfect for me. The flavor of the rest of the soup was just alright. The ratio of noodle to toppings was not what I was hoping for. One piece of chashu, half of a hard boiled egg, and a few pieces of bean sprout were not enough to satisfy my ramen craving. The ramen isn't what I'm used to, but for a ramen spot located out of ramen central, they did a fairly decent job at preparing it. Overall, the broth is what won me over, but as a whole, the ramen was nothing special. For being open in the middle of the day though, I can't complain too much.

My special someone took me here today because we were both hungry hungry hippos..and I LOOOVE ramen! We decided to give this place a try (: The restaurant was pretty well decorated and nice, really modern! -Tonkatsu Ramen ($8.99): Comes with kikurage mushrooms, bean sprouts, 2 PAPER THIN slices of pork, and a soft-boiled egg. I must say, I really like the texture of the noodles here! It's not too soft, but chewy! Definitely my kind of noodle! The soup was honestly mediocre. Doesn't taste like authentic tonkotsu soup base like a few other ramen places that I've tried. It honestly made me really thirsty more than anything. The two slices of pork was much thinner than my napkin lol -__- and I think that actually gave it a rough texture =/ not too great. The egg though...I really enjoyed the egg! It was quite delicious...NOT hard-boiled! I'm so glad that my boyfriend doesn't like eggs so he gave me my half mwahahaha He ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen and said it was just decent. He drank a lot of the soup though! There are definitely ramen places that are A LOT better, but since this is the only one around the area, I might go again. OH YEA! ALERT ALERT. They have this lunch special Mon-Fri from 11:30PM - 4:00PM I believe, and if you order ramen or something you can get a BBQ pork over rice (or something like that) with an additional $2.00.

Went here with 3 friends today. We ordered Tonkatsu curry, tonkatsu ramen, takoyaki, and the veggie ramen. Our waitress was Nicole and she's so friendly and energetic! Everything we ordered tasted pretty good, but I've had better in San Mateo but didn't want to drive all the way there.

$35 freaking dollars! First of all the broth looked weird I don't usually like it milky and orange unless it's curry, for add - ons $1 for sweet corn and it was like 5 scoops from the can, I can go to trader joes or safeway for a whole can of corn, haha and then they charge $1 for green onions which is again $1 for a bundle, I can boil soup through random things in a pot and charge these customers who gave this restaurant 5 stars on Yelp lol!

I thought the food was just okay, but I find myself keep coming back. Majikku is closer to where I live but I would rather drive to Momiji for ramen than walk a couple blocks to Majikku. Decent noodles and tonkotsu broth. The fried baby octopus appetizer is too small for its price though. 5/10 will not get again.

I was a bit hesitant to try out this place. But I did and it wasn't bad! I had their miso ramen and my fiancé had their shoyu. It was pretty satisfying. I'm giving it 3 stars because I've had better ramen in the peninsula and san jose area.

I am surprise that I actually really like this place. This is my "go to" ramen spot since I just live around the area. I always order the spicy tonkotsu and it never disappoints. My cravings are always satisfied when I eat here. The price point for this place is not that great. It's pretty expensive compared to other ramen spots I've gone to. However, I am willing to pay more for some good ol' ramen.

Really glad to have a ramen place in this area. The chicken karaage was really good. The tonkotsu ramen broth is one of the better ones I've had. Santa Ramen is still my fave but this place would give me the ramen fix when I crave it. The ramen portion size is perfect. My only gripe is, the ramen only comes with one piece of meat. C'mon now. Place is small so expect a wait. Service was good, they checked on us often and was very intuitive when we needed something. Would have given them 5 stars if they weren't so cheap with the meat.

SPEECHLESS (3 stars) ...NOT in a good way!!!!! 0 stars for service and 3 for the food. - FOOD, decent - PRICES, decent - SERVICE, THE FU.K?! - AMBIANCE, small/dark/clean Ramen was ok. Not hating on it, not raving about it either. For DC folks this is "good", for foodies this is "meh it's ok. I had better". Servers have no clue. They were out of items on the menu. They don't know what MSG is and do not know if any was added in. I asked about items on the menu, "what's soy milk broth like?" As their menu has no description - why not ask the people making it. And I get *points to menu* and he says "uhm soy and milk". I can clearly read that, but what's it like? No idea of taste. Well damn put a description on the menu at the least. No sampling of broth so your going in it blindly AND they can make it less salty or more salty on request (how can you make the request when you don't even know what it taste like to begin with). NO REFILLS ON WATER?! I saw 6 almost empty water cups and not one server went to refill them or ask if a refill is wanted. Left the 15% tip to be nice and as I was leaving I swear I heard "at least she left a tip". FYI, garbage service should be $0 tip. HEFER STATUS SHOYU ($7.99) - I didn't add anything extra besides the basic. I've read how stingy the portions are on the $1 extras are. Noodle to soup ration, good. Not too much of one of the other. Broth, decent and I asked for less salty if possible without knowing how salty the broth is to begin with. The SHOYU Was fine, not too salty and not at all watered down. It had a light shoyu taste and all the veggies gives it better flavor. Egg, wow I do like how it was prepared. Pork meat, one piece of meat that was tender and flavorful. Noodles, I'm VERY picky with my ramen noodles and they were kind if chewy. Perhaps a little more time to soften up. Will I be back? No. Until the next review.

If i would have spent $10 for a bowl of ramen, i would have saved it and save the $ to be buying those 99 cent packs and made it myself. I've had better... and ramen Parlor is def better compare to this place. You pay $10 for just noodles and broth. Where's the extras???? $1 extra just to add in the sides. Broth was ehhh ok and when it says it comes with meat, there was NO meat! What a rip off!! Probably wont be back here again.

So this place is eh. Me and one of my girlfriends went here for a dinner after shopping or after class... I can't remember. We were in the mood for Japanese but we were thinking more sushi. .. when we got there we were a bit disappointed because it's really a ramen only place with no sushi at all lol but we need up staying. There was a small wait cause the place is small but we got in pretty quick. So we went ahead and place the orders and then it started rolling out. The server did bring us an order of something and we questioned it because it was not what we thought we ordered but she insisted that it was. It had the same ingredients so we figured we just thought it was the wrong thing, but the correct thung actually came out after. We called the server to the table to make sure that we were not going to be charged for the first thing that was brought out which we had already taking a bite of since she was the one who insisted that's what we ordered. But hence once the bill came it was there. She asked if it was okay and I said no. She looked really confused. After a bit of back and forth they ended up giving me the cash back for that item because we didn't order it nor did we finish it because it wasn't that great. They were some type of balls filled with octopus. Since the ramen itself wasn't to die for me and my friend will probably not be back to that location. Luckily there's actually a lot of really great ramen places here in the city and will probably stick to one of our regular spots when going for ramen.

The broth was tasty and not too salty! but the noodles are a little too chewy ( I personally don't like too chewy) but overall good place for ramen :) The eggs was definitely gooood and soft enough in the broth ( it was not over boiled the egg node only 75%cooked that was perfect!)

Get the soy milk ramen, it has a salty and sweet taste. The place is very small, so get here early and put your name on wait list. Overall a very decent ramen joint.

So I hadn't tried ramen. Went to this place and didn't think much of it. The place is small and the service needs improvement. The price seemed high for what it is. I'll stick with pho for now.

I was so sure I wrote a review for this place, but I must have just dreamed it, and/or chattered on and on about how I felt and what I needed to write and then never got around to it. It's probably definitely the second. The beauty of this place lies in the fact that this is a ramen place...in Colma. Next to Target. Now that is an excellent location for a Daly City girl like me, as this means I don't need to drive all the way to San Francisco or San Mateo or further places to get a ramen fix. I went here with the best friend some time ago so we could try it out. This was in the earlier stages, and I've yet to go back and see if they've smoothed things out. The noodles were okay. I don't know how to explain it; the noodles were textured just fine, but somehow I don't think the broth was properly integrating its flavor with the ramen. They offer kakuni, which I would have ordered (I went during my pre-kakuni days); best friend did, however, and she quite enjoyed it. Now, it's nothing too special, but with some TLC and possibly more seating, this place could definitely be more than, "Hey, since we're at Target, we should go to that ramen place, just cos, y'know, it's there." I'm pretty sure that this place will get better with time, so I will be back to see if it's changed at all.

didn't even know this place existed until a friend mentioned it to me nice to have a ramen place in Daly City, its a convenient location, next to Target in Metro Mall Its a sushi/ramen joint. I ordered the spicy shoyu ramen but i have to admit...i was wary about this place...i mean...it is in Daly city =P Presentation-wise...i was not impressed...it looks like they didn't even try to make it look nice..i know i know...food shouldnt always have to look presentable...but effort is key! Broth was okay...had a kick, not too bad, nothing amazing though. Ramen was different, not like the ones you see in Ramen Dojo or Orenchi...it had more of a egg noodley like texture and taste. Pork had more fat than ever so i didn't really get much juice out of that. Service could be better! Took us a bit just to get some attention but they're nice people! I wont come back unless i'm starving =T

I'd give this place 3.5 It was our first time and i can't say I didn't like it The food was good but the ramen was dull. Couldn't really taste the spice or the flavor much.. But takoyaki and potato croquettes were yummy. But the service could've been better and music on the background could've helped too! Only Japanese noodle place that served soft noodles!! Other places were hard to chew

The ramen is very good. I liked the flavor. Presentation is not so good. All my ingredients were hidden under my spicy soy milk soup- but once I started eating it- it was hard to stop. The noodles were good- firm and flavorful. My spicy soy milk soup was yummy. The service was friendly- they were smiling & friendly. I like the location too- it is very convenient. I would definitely come back here!

I'm surprised this place was busy! I'm guessing because it was 4 days before Xmas and it's right next to Target, because the food isn't good enough to warrant a full house or even a small wait. Takoyaki (octopus balls) were just okay. The octopi bits inside were a little overcooked, and not enough of the kinda tasty sauce on top. Yes, the ramen portions are decent. But, my spicy miso soup wasn't exceptional. If you told me the soup was from some instant soup mix included along with instant ramen, I'd believe you! Also, I'm not sure "spicy" is quite accurate because it produced no more than a slight tickle of the tongue. I know substitutions can be annoying, but I didn't have an over-the-top request. I asked if I could have the soft-boiled egg (standard with any ramen order), hard-boiled instead. The waitress told me no, so I asked if I could have a side of corn in substitution. She said no, and insisted on charging me an extra $1 for the corn. I love noodles and soup, but I probably won't be desperate enough to get my fix here again.

I love this place i like the ramen! It is the best i like how u can add extra stuff to it. It come out fast and hot i love it! i have the best service at this place all the time. I wish they would have added. Little extra ramen to the broth. But overall this place is a good place to go to and eat ramen.

New ramen joint in the Bay Area. As with all new restaurants there will always be kinks in the service and food. Although it was almost a packed house (a rather very small spot with probably no more than 20 seats) when we arrived about an hour before closing, we were the only ones not to have bowls of ramen in front of them yet it took about 20+ minutes for our food to arrive. We quickly observed that a take-out order had taken precedence over ours. As for the ramen, however, I liked it for the most part. I ordered the spicy tonkotsu broth and sampled some of her regular tonkotsu broth which were both flavorful, very milky in texture, and savory. The accoutrement of tender pork slices and halved soft-boiled egg were very good. The egg noodles were gummy and a little bland, failing to soak up any flavor from the broth, and quite clumpy. Regardless of these things it was still pretty good to me. Since it's still very new I will definitely be coming back to reassess.

This place is ok. It's that time of year when it's cold and all you want is some nice warm soup or something! This place is where the old Taqueria Polanco use to be. They've definitely used up more space than Taqueria Polanco did when they were here. The setting is nice and their menu is very simple (they have potato croquettes though yay!!!). Aside from my happiness of potato croquettes, the ramen itself was just ok. Meaning, it could be better, it could be worse. The ramen was very firm, the soup didn't really have much of a taste. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen, but tried my friend's spicy soy ramen which looked and tasted a little bit better (it wasn't spicy at all). I think this place will do well since this is probably the only ramen place nearby (aside from the one in Skyline Plaza near Ranch 99 Market), so it will do well while it's here.

I learned about Momiji late one night, bookmarked it, and went to try it for lunch the next day. I'm always on the lookout for new, potentially yummy ramen places, especially if it's close to home. Momiji definitely has some kinks to work out. We arrived just after 1pm. There was no wait, thankfully. We ordered a wakame salad, the tonkotsu for me and spicy tonkotsu for him. The wakame salad took much longer than expected to get to our table. I would understand if it were busy or they were short-staffed, but there were maybe 4 other tables besides ours (there are ~8 tables total) and I observed a couple of servers just standing around; it doesn't take much to put some pre-made salad on a plate. We had to wait even longer for our ramen. There was one cook in the open kitchen and he was preparing a to-go order, which held up our order. We were finally presented with two very promising bowls of ramen. The bowls were quite large, and all the ingredients (kikurage, char siu, egg, bean sprouts, and spring onions) were arranged in a neat and orderly fashion atop the ramen noodles. The broth was quite good--opaque and rich in flavor as tonkotsu broth should be. The spicy tonkotsu was really good too; just the right amount of spicy. The egg was done perfectly; the yolk was creamy and you can definitely taste the soy sauce flavor in the whites. The char siu was tender and very flavorful as well. However, my glowing review of the ramen stops here because the noodles were subpar. They were clumped together, so my attempt to pick up reasonable portions of noodle with my chopsticks yielded a tangly mess of tough, bland ramen since the noodles didn't soak up any of the flavor in the broth at all. The flavor of the ramen was, as the mister put it, "wheat-y." I think the most important part of a bowl of ramen is the broth, but the noodles are a significant portion too, so I was left a little disappointed. Despite the long wait, the service was good and friendly and items are reasonably priced. Momiji wouldn't be my first choice for ramen, but I would come back. I just hope they work out the service issue and find better ramen noodles.

This is not authentic Japanese Ramen at all !!!! Ordered Tonkatsu Ramen with Pork belly, and apparently they charge +1 dollar for hot tea. The flavor just isnt right, the texture of the noodle just feels off, the pork belly was rather tough to chew on, +1 dollar for 1 soft boiled egg, which was okay. Try a real Japanese Ramen restaurant, and the difference is huge ! 14 dollars total for a bowl of really bad Ramen..... I will pass this place

Moiji is located in the old Colma mall where target is located. It's in one of the worse parking lots ever. This place is packed full of babies and strollers for some reason. Target? There's a wait list outside, but be advised... it is going to be a 30+ minute wait. == Food == Tonkotsu ramen was pretty meh. I didn't really like the soup The noodles were too firm for me. My egg came pretty much hard boiled and there's only one slice of meat. Spicy is definitely really spicy. I had a had time finishing the bowl, which usually doesn't happen. == Service == Long wait times! Service is a bit slow. Maybe since they're sort of new? The ramen comes pretty quick. == Overall == Not worth the wait or the money. The ramen was not to my liking with it's egg being hard boiled, noodles being too firm, and the soup being awful.

Packed right on a Saturday lunch hour. Very narrow space with tables line up on one side of the wall and the open kitchen taking up half if the opposite side. Accommodating for 2-4 people with small tables and tight seating. Food is edible but quite pricey compared to other ramen places. Very limited toppings but you can add from their toppings list for extra charge. Ramen noodles are subpar, soup base is fine but nothing spectacular. Water is free, tea is charged.

I have been coming here for over a year now, partly because of how close it is to me, and because I love the shoyu ramen broth. Noodles are definitely not the best as compared to those I've had in Japan, but the broth reminds me of my favorite ramen place in Tokyo. I usually order it with the kakuni (pork belly) and haven't been disappointed yet. The egg is nicely soft boiled as well. I do admit all I've eaten other than the ramen are the potstickers, which were too oily for me. The service there is good and the staff is nice and attentive. I'm not usually swayed either way by decor, but it's kept clean and has a minimalist, black theme going on. There isn't usually a wait when we go, but then again we go between 2-4pm to avoid the more busy dinner and lunch hours. I do agree with others that it can get pretty expensive with add ons, but I don't usually add much so I'm ok with the pricing. Also, I bring bottled water because their tap water tastes funny to me...

This place used be a Mexican restaurant called Polanco. We go to the Target next to it all the time. It's now a Japanese Ramen place called Momiji. We were here during it's soft opening day. The environment was nice. The owner and the server were very friendly. We ordered Tonkatsu Ramen, and Chicken Karaage. The chicken karaage was awesome. Love love love! I have never tried chicken karaage with mayonnaise before and it was so good. Chicken was so juicy and soft. This is a must-order! The Half-Boiled egg in the ramen was another plus. I usually only eat eggs that are fully cooked, but this one I have to say it's so delicious. Ramen soup is rich as well. I always order less salty soup because my daughter shares with me. Conclusion: This place is going to be one of my must-go restaurants, especially it's next to target. We come to this target almost every week and there's nothing to eat around here. I'm so happy they open this ramen restaurant here.

Great location. Huge parking lot. Very small restaurant. This ramen joint was A-okay. I ordered the spicy soy milk one and it has a very interesting taste. It was good but I wouldn't order it again. The best part of my meal was the pork belly. I love how the fat just melts in your mouth. Mmmm... I'm not sure I'll return to this location. The drive to San Mateo is worth it for a bowl of GOOD ramen.

I was sad to learn that Taqueria Polanco closed down. So i was a little nervous about trying this new place. I had to wait here for a table around 6pm on a weekday, which is still early in my opinion. I ordered my soy milk ramen with a side of takoyaki. I loved both of the items i ordered. The Soy milk ramen had a very smooth taste to it. The noodles and the rest of the ingredients were also very good. I loved how the egg was perfectly running. The Takoyaki was goo and tasted like most other places. The staff here does come around to check up on your from time to time. However, they do charge for tea here, so be aware that that.

Been here a few times now and I've never come out disappointed when eating there. It doesnt trump my favorite spots in San Mateo BUT it comes really close! I also love their fried rice that they offer at Lunch and I've requested them to offer it at dinner as well but so far none yet :( haha no biggie though I will still come back here because their ramen is delicious and very tasty. If there is one I have to recommend its the spicy tonkatsu. The staff is friendly too and smiling so no issues there. OVERALL a great place to eat and reasonable prices!

I am always excited to try new ramen places and when I saw Momiji after visiting Michaels, I knew I had to make it my mission to try it (I just didn't know I would be able to try Momiji so soon) - the boyfriend and I are always on the hunt to find a good ramen spot in San Francisco (or near). We were in the neighborhood and hungry so the boyfriend suggested that we try it, we weren't actually that close, ~ 15 minutes away but hey, we were in the same city as Momiji, so why not! Momiji replaces Taquieria Polanco and you can definitely see a bit of Polanco in here because they kept the same arrangement but changed up the seating, coloring, and lighting. Once you walk in, you get the feeling that they are trying to go for that chic ramen restaurant with the low lighting, black walks, and booths. I do wish they played some music in the background because all you can hear (if you weren't talking) is the cook and waiter chit chatting about their old employment. Ordered: Two Tonkatsu Ramen When I first saw the bowl of ramen, I noticed that their portions are a bit small, but that might have been because they use a big bowl but the boyfriend did say that he still felt hungry after his bowl of ramen. I would order an appetizer to share because you might feel a bit hungry after if you only order a bowl of ramen. What I enjoyed about the ramen was definitely the noodles, it was bouncy and chewy and definitely the highlight of the dish. What is sad is that the ramen broth and cha shu were flavorless and you only get half a soft boiled egg AND you only get ONE piece of cha shu, ONE! p.s Come here to warm yourself up if you are hungry and in the area shopping at Target or Michaels but it is nothing too spectacular and I was especially let down by the broth and one piece of cha shu!

Stopped by here on a whim while I was at Target. I initially waited at the front of the restaurant for a few moments. One of the employees noticed us then said we could sit where ever we would like. After we sat down, it took quite some time to get some service. Apparently there was a misunderstanding and they thought we were waiting for a to-go order. I was confused to how this occurred because nobody mentioned anything about "to go" food, ordering, picking up, etc. After I grabbed my own menus and asked one of the employee's if we could order, they recovered after a stumbling start. I know this is a ramen place, but I decided to order the tonkatsu curry and chasu don. The Tonkatsu had too much panko crust and was over cooked, but the chasu don was great. Overall this was an okay experience as evidenced by their overall ok rating.

Chicken karaage is good. Spicy tonkatsu is a must when you visit this place place has short order menu not a Japanese restaurant this is a Japanese ramen place so dont expect to see any other food than Ramen soup and short order of donburi

I like this ramen place, in Colma. The ramen is standard but the spicy miso broth is full of flavor. My two complaints about this place are one in the same: (1) I feel like $10 should buy a ramen dish, without pork in it, and I don't feel like chicken should cost an extra $2 charge. (2) I feel like their menu is set-up to nickel and dime customers. If they would revisit the menu, I would be a regular customer.

I ended up here hoping to have Japanese soup and sushi. I was a little disappointed to not find any sushi on their menu but their soups were delish!! A little crowded inside due to the amount of space taken up by the kitchen in the middle of their small space. Nontheless, I'd make a return visit again if I have a craving for good soup.

I am very disappointed tonight with my shoyu ramen. The broth was way too salty, when I told the waitress all she can say was "sorry." Sorry is not good enough, this doesn't do me any good. She didn't tell the chef at all. I poured half a glass of water in the broth and it was still salty. I couldn't eat noodles even after that. I am never coming back.

Delish ramen and friendly service - my son and I both had vegetarian shoyu (his with an egg). I agree with another reviewer that a beer would go great with the meal :-) definitely will go back when I'm in the area.

Noodles are average. I like the eggs like I do at every ramen shop. Soup is great. Portion of meat is rather small. The environment is dim and small. Very underrated and a bit expensive when the food doesn't even make you full. They could definitely be a lot better.

So I wanted something soupy instead of always eating Pho, I figured let's try Ramen but avoid the popular places that you always hear that has ridiculously long wait. Last time I had Ramen was years ago and to be honest, I was not really impress because I felt like it's something that I could of made at home. (Top Ramen and throw some veg/meat to it) Anyways stopped at this small spot in the Colma Target area. I ordered a Spicy Tonkatsu (Pork) with sweet corn for about $1. When the soup came out, presentation it's really look good but where's the meat?? I had a tiny piece of pork about a inch and that is all. My girl ordered the same thing and it a small piece too but her was slightly bigger than mine. The booth was good and had a spicy kick to it also the half an egg were super creamy however overall it lack the meat. I felt like the price we paid, it should of had a few more pieces of pork but it didn't. We also ordered the fried Octopus and Chicken and it was ok....pretty standard to all Japanese restaurant Probably will not come back here again....

Came down with a cold & a craving for some decent ramen in Daly City. Yelp did not lead me astray. I've always gone to the Target right next door Ordered the spicy tonkatsu with sweet corn & braised pork belly as Yelp sang its praises. And for good reason, too. The broth was rich and flavorful, spicy but not too spicy for my sore throat but I was disappointed to find I only got one slice of tonkatsu. Additionally, the pork belly wasn't "melt in your mouth" OMG amazing as I had been led to believe, there were two distinctive bites: one of fat & the other stringy and grisly. The noodles, however, were some of the best I've had. I completely finished my ramen & I would totally come here again, just wouldn't pony up the extra $2 for the pork belly. I also tried my fiance's miso ramen & that broth was rich and delicious as well.

my friend took me there & it was my first time! I ordered the pork bone flavor with soy milk, mild spicy & pot sticker for us to share. All our orders were good & liked them but there's one thing I don't like that turns me down: when I went to the ladies' restroom, the guy who works there got into the men's restroom also at the same time but with my surprise, he got out from the restroom right away not washing his hands because I didn't hear a splash of water from the faucet of the toilet sink because it's not sound proof & any sound is audible. When I went back to our table, I saw the guy cooking food orders & I told my friend: I hope it's not our order: ( Also, I noticed that the black plate they used to put the green tea cheesecake is full of dusts & it's very visible. I like your food but please remind your workers to "ALWAYS WASH HANDS" before returning to work & inspect plates, glasses & silver wares if clean before using them for serving customers: )

Definitely not recommended. I was looking for a ramen place closer to home but it was a very disappointing experience. I brought my mom there. Her soup tasted bad. She described it as old-reboiled soup. Pork tasted bad!!! She couldn't finish it. Mine was ok cuz i added lots of pepper. We also ordered fried baby octopus. Seriously, they were not baby and they were impossible to chew. We literally left the whole plate untouched. Would not go back!!!

I really enjoyed eating here for lunch. I ordered the chicken karage and it was just fantastic. I loved the Miso soup which is a plus since my son loved it more than me. The only thing is space and more room to sit. I hate sitting close to people while I'm eating.

If you have a friend thats shy about trying different food this place is good to help ween that friend into Japanese food. Its not mind blowingly good but its decent food for cheap and the people are friendly. They serve ramon and donburi bowls (white washed if you know what I mean) so kids will like it too. My beau and I went for lunch and it was ok. I got the miso and he got the pork. The portions are good. I think if anyone says otherwise they probably have a eating disorder. They could have added more meat to the ramen (2 thin slices jus enough to flavor the broth? Come on...) I've had better but if you're on a budget and hungry...

Ramen was very good. We were 6 people. So we tried Shio, Shoyu, Miso, Spicy Shoyu, Spicy tonkotsu. We were very happy with our noodles. We also tried Kara age, ikageso. They were really well fried. I recommend this place highly.

overall, it was a pretty normal place. not super great but not bad either. its super convenient if you are shopping at target next door. we didnt have to wait long for a table but the ramen took some time to come out when the place wasnt particularly super busy. the broth was ok, it had a good consistency bit wasn't super tasty. We didn't particular care for the noodles. if you are in the area, its worthwhile and if you dont come here with high expectations.

I got the kakuni don and my dining companion got the veggie ramen. Both were just ok. Was it worth the price? Eh. Not really, but I'd spend for it if this is what I was craving while in this part of town. I wish they had more veggie side dish options other than green salad and seaweed salad.

Me and my bf both love it! Cuz it's so great that We can have some cheap but good quality ramen after shopping at target! And the soup is pretty nice! I always end up finishing it all ! I love the corn and the egg in the ramen! So tasty!! My bf tried the Kakuni dong, and it's perfect for a boy who loves meat! We Will go back for sure :)

If you're looking for a big bowl of soup on a cold day, this is the place. I am not a ramen expert by any means. Their portions are awesome and I haven't ordered anything I haven't liked yet. The staff is friendly but not as attentive as I would hope for. Definitely not a deterrent. I will happily keep coming here until I cant eat ramen anymore.

I always tend to get nervous about trying new ramen spots. This place definitely didn't disappoint me. The extra spicy tonkotsu with tofu and corn was amazing and the customer service was on point.

I'm sure 99% of people would disagree but I like the ramen here WAY better than Ramen Dojo in SM. Spicy tonkatsu broth tasted good. They forgot the egg in my soup, so minus one star. Would've given it a four. Oddly shaped and small restaurant and not many toppings that come with the soup.

This is a much needed ramen place in this location as I've had to trek out a bit to find any. The menu is ramen-centric but also good rice dishes if that's what you crave. They have a good variety of broth and add-ons. My favorite is adding the kakuni (pork belly) and the egg, which is boiled perfectly with melty yolk and marinated in goodness.

The ramen was pretty average, service was decent. It did satisfy my ramen cravings but it is not my favorite. Price was reasonable and the time it took to to get my order was a little longer than I expected. Broth was good noodles was just ok

Went to this place on a Friday night and it was not bad! Wait was about 15 minutes and service was pretty quick. Randomly picked this place as it was close and glad we ran into it. I ordered the pork belly over rice and that hit the spot! Will definitely come back to try the ramen.

We have been looking for a good ramen place and this just opened up right up the street from us. Fast service kid friendly and good portions. Been twice in 2 weeks I had the spicy miso and hubby had the tonkasu (forgive me if I misspelled). It has not disappointed plus it is really not expensive however I do recommend adding extra meat it only comes with 1 little piece otherwise!

not the best ramen place, you can definitely find some place better in the city, but pretty good when you need your ramen fix the soup is bit too salty for me. but i've been there twice, and i intend to go back, maybe try their curry next time

Came here with my boyfriend and a friend. The service was pretty nice, but a little slow. I ordered the spicy tonkatsu ramen and I thought it was the perfect amount of spiciness. The ramen comes in huge bowls, however I thought the portions were a little tiny. Prices range from $8-$10 per bowl.

It's ramen in Daly City so you have to take that into account. That being said, I wasn't disappointed. It's definitely not an Orenchi but the Karrage was pretty bomb!

I tend to shy away from new ramen places that open up because you never know about the quality of food that you're going to get... But I was at Target the other day and was jonesing for some ramen when I came across this restaurant. First off, there was no wait. My friend and I were seated right away (yay)! There menu has a good amount of appetizers to choose from as well as ramen and donburi dishes. I had the shoyu ramen with added tofu and chicken kaarage. The shoyu soup base was perfect- salty and milky at the same time. Definitely savory. The chicken kaarage wasn't oily and was still juicy when you bit into it. The staff was very friendly and the food came out fast. I would definitely go back to try out their other dishes.

I've been on a ramen kick lately, so I had to come try Momiji. I was told that it was good, but the reviews were average . . . I guess there's only one way to know if it's good or not. Got here around the time they opened, it was half full already so I thought that was a good sign. We ordered a spicy miso with karaage and spicy shoyu with pork belly. Usually ramen is pretty fast, but we waited almost half an hour for ours, service was super slow and all over the place. The table next to us came after we ordered and managed to get food before us. The ramen came in a huge bowl that was half full so I felt like I got screwed. DON'T use big bowls if you don't intend on filling it. I had to dig for my noodles, it was just filled with soup and sprouts. The pork belly was barely warm, the kaarage was ok. After getting the bill for over $25 for two mediocre bowls of overpriced noodles I decided this wasn't worth a second visit. There are plenty of other great ramen places, this isn't one of them.

They definitely have room for improvement. Their ramen and broth are both OK but not exceptional. It's a solid ramen place. I wished their place is bigger and they served beer and sake.

It's not that bad for a ramen spot in Daly City. Satisfies the ramen craving if you can't get to japantown in sf. The gyoza is good as well. I had the traditional miso ramen and it was fine . I'd continue going back.

  • Brittney V.

Considering that this place opened nearly a week and a half ago, I'll give it a tentative 3 stars. I ordered a seaweed salad, gyoza, and the shoyu ramen. Everything was tasty but I wasn't wowed. Portions could be bigger (says the girl who ordered 3 dishes). Service was good, the place is clean, but what I'm most excited about is the location! Right next to Target! Ramen after Target shopping....hellooooooooo weekend! I'm not dying to go back to this place but for now it's convenient. I'll give it another shot.

The service was a little slow and spotty the first time I came here, but I'm the type to give people/businesses a chance. Surely enough, the service has been improving. I am a fan of the vegetarian ramen with soy milk. Ramen in general can be very salty for my taste. Though I do love shoyu and miso--I hate that dehydration after eating too much salty stuff. The soy milk/mushroom broth in the vegetarian ramen here is for me, perfection. I'm happy to have a decent ramen house close by--but if you're looking for super top notch ramen comparable to what you'd get in Japan...go someplace else.

I thought this place was alright, I still have yet to find the perfect ramen joint. The noodles had good texture to them and the soup was just ok. I was a little disappointed in the lack of variety in toppings, they didn't even have nori. The takoyaki was really good. It was even better than the ones I had in japantown during the cherry blossom festival.

Found this gem after a trip to Michael's. Had the shoyu ramen and fried chicken app. YUMMY! It's always busy but service was good & will def be returning to try other items!

My group had the ramen and Donburi (rice bowl). The ramen was delicious and wasn't too spicy or salty. The extras of tofu and pork belly made it even better. The noodles were well done, too - not overcooked like some other places I have visited. The Donburi serving was huge for a regular and the karaage was fried just right. I went early afternoon on Sunday, so I didn't have to wait long. I will definitely be back!

Went here the other day and wasn't impressed. I had the tonkotsu ramen with added pork belly. It looked good but unfortunately that was it. The broth was almost flavorless and what flavor there was was less than okay. It seemed like they added water to their broth to stretch it out (you know when you have to do that sometimes with gravy). It might appeal to some people but for someone whose had really good ramen it just didn't do it for me. But that's the tonkotsu maybe the shoyu ramen is better.

I'm always on the hunt for a good ramen spot. I tried the spicy tonkatsu ramen with braised pork and egg. It was a big hot and spicy bowl of perfectly made ramen. I loved every drop of it! My husband had the kakuni donburi. It comes in two sizes, small and large. The small was tiny small. The large was more like a medium bowl. The hubby loved it. It was just not big enough. Service was great. Friendly staff. Great greetings. I will definitely return.

One of the best noodle places I have found yet. I ordered the Tokoyaki, which was rich, creamy and the octopus was tender, and the Miso based ramen with sweet corn, gyoza toppings, and extra noodles, because if you do not request extra noodles you will be sorry . My friend ordered the Tonkotsu ramen with similar extras. The two of us fell in love and have been craving it ever since. I think next time I will add some spice for the cold weather that is now upon us.

Ordered the spicy miso ramen with corn. The broth was mehh.. I didnt like how it had a weird sour taste to it. The noodles were stuck together and tasted really eggy which I didnt like. They were also very firm... Our food took FOREVER to get to the table. Not only ours, but the people next to us ended up getting impatient and even complained... Not good. The service was good though, and the chicken karage was cooked and seasoned just right. But other than that, i dont know if i will come back.

Future patrons of Momiji...please do everyone a favor and put your name on the waiting list instead of barging into the restaurant and demanding a table. If you see other patrons waiting outside, do not be obnoxious and go inside and wait inside the restaurant. The restaurant is small and cramp enough already... Momiji has taken over what used to be a Mexican restaurant. They have added a few more tables than its previous establishment. I would say that there are about ~10ish tables...not totally sure, but that's my guess. This place is relatively new and it got pretty busy at night (especially with fall approaching). Ramen is under $10/bowl and there are add-ons for $1-2. Good for small groups (no bigger than 4). We ordered the fried calamari legs, spicy tonkatsu ramen and spicy miso ramen. The calamari legs came out later than our ramen did, but the server assured us that it was indeed coming. The bowls of ramen came piping hot which was perfect for a cold night in the city. The noodles came out chewy. In each bowl, it comes standard with half an egg, bean sprouts, wood fungus and a slice of cha-siu along with a sprinkling of green onions. The broth is good and it was spicy. I had added some corn to my bowl of ramen and it was literally a spoon full of corn -__- for $1 Most ramen places are more generous than Momiji...I can buy a can of corn..but ok. I think the portions are a bit small for the price... but it did say on the menu that more noodles would only cost you $1-2 which is good! Overall, it is decent. I think I'd make the drive to San Mateo to get my ramen fix... If you don't want to wait (as it does get cold waiting outside in Colma), order take-out!

I love the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant but I don't love the food. My party and I had the Regular Tonkotsu, Spicy Tonkotsu and Miso noodle soup. My Tonkotsu soup was not bad but we were all disappointed with our noodle and there was plenty left in our bowls. It was hard, flavorless and not authentic ramen. The noodles were more like the store bought noodles, sort of like the ones used in Chinese chow mein. The ingredients in the ramen soup were nothing special except for the yolky egg. That was good. There was only one piece of pork and it was very dry. We also had their appetizer, Tokoyaki (octopus balls) which were mediocre. It only had a small piece of octopus in every ball. Overall, if they change their noodles, I would come back to give it another try. But for now, I wouldn't be coming back for their weird tasting hard noodles. Try Majikku Ramen at the Ranch 99 plaza. Their ramen is 10 times better than this place. :)

went here to try it out with a friend for dinner since we're always like to try out new places. i would say this place is o-k. so we ordered takoyaki, gyoza and both of us ordered tonkotsu ramen. the takoyaki was actually good, which was a shocker to me because ramen and takoyaki is an odd combination. anyhow, the size was perfect, crispy on the outside and the right amount of fluffiness, BUT i just wish the octopus was a little bit bigger. the gyoza was o-k, didn't really wowed me, it felt like something was missing. now to the ramen, i was disappointed. the soup was not as rich as i expected, noodles were on the chewy side, and there's no menma on the ramen -_- what kind of a ramen is that :( it wasn't even on add on menu. it was just off not having menma on my ramen. and the chashu was on the thinner and smaller size, i just felt like they could've added more meat or something to it, it wasn't balanced. but the portion was about right. service was not bad, but my rating is purely for the food. and the tea is not free -_- that was kinda disappointing, usually the tea is free, UNLESS it's good quality tea. I would recommend this place but don't get your hopes up. eating here is like, eating at some vietnamese restaurant, BUT much better than genki ramen. i would not compare this place with genki ramen. the price was somewhat reasonable, again, i just wish they would add more condiments to it, specially that chashu was disappointing. i should say this place is ok.

Not much to say about their ramen. Flavorless soup, one piece of meat, asked for extra spicy. It was not spicy at all and they charged me 1 dollar for the extra hot sauce?!? R u kidding me?! I will not visit them again

There was a slight wait but we got seated. We ordered and got our appetizers which were just mediocre. Then the wait for our ramen began. We watched a family of 5 that got seated after us receive and finish their food. No ramen for us. Another party of 2 got seated another 10 minutes later and receive their food. Still no ramen for us. We sat there for about 40 minutes and finally said eff it. We had to walk up to the register and say we'd like to pay for our appetizers and leave and they had the nerve to say they originally made the orders wrong but of course didn't tell us anything. Jerks. Don't waste your time. We're definitely NEVER coming back for crapass service.

Ever since moving further away from Ramen Dojo, I've been feeling like a piece of my heart (or stomach) has been missing. And now I found it Momiji! So grateful a friend told me about it. Servers are really nice and attentive, making sure they greet you as you come in and checking up on you throughout the meal. The waters on the table stayed above half full all night. Prices are decent, and they give a pretty big bowl of noodles too. I feel the broth is somewhat more authentic than Ramen Dojo's (shh don't tell them) in the way that it has more depth of flavor and is not swimming in additives like pork fat/ meat sauce. The karaage was pretty decent, too! I've found my new go-to ramen place and can now be at peace with my heart (stomach). Will have to try their rice bowls soon.

WORST FOOD EXPERIENCE EVER. Not because the food tasted like like it was made 3 days before, but because 3 days after eating there I still have constant diarrhea and random stomach pain. I think most people that rated this place good have never tried true Japanese ramen. Either that or they have tough stomachs and very low expectations. I usually go to my favorite ramen place in San Mateo called Yu Raku but me and my girlfriend did not have the time to drive out there. So I looked up "tonkatsu ramen" on yelp and found this place. I thought "hey these reviews aren't that bad, might as well try it out." We got there and were seated right away, but in the corner where you can't even see the ONE server unless he walks around the corner and checks on you. We knew we wanted to try the tonkatsu ramen because that's what we get at Yu Raku. I was a little disappointed that a ramen restaurant did not give you the option to add roasted seaweed, but I let it go. While waiting for our food there was this huge fly that seemed to like our little corner and would not leave us alone. After another 30 minutes of studying for finals at or table we finally got our huge bowls of soy sauce flavored, dark/creamy tonkatsu ramen. We were extremely hungry so we immediately dug into our bowls. After my girlfriend took her first spoon full of broth, she mad a face and just shook her head, the broth was disgusting. I continued to eat out of hunger and the fact that we had to pay for it anyway. The pork was actually pretty good and tender and the noodles weren't fresh but they were bearable for me at least. My girlfriend ended up eating only half of the noodles and barely any broth, but that night we took up both of our restrooms at home and went at least 3 times, each consisted of stomach pains and diarrhea. The next day I had a final at 8:10 am and got diarrhea 10 minutes before it started. Thank goodness my teacher stalled a little bit. It is now the 3rd day since we ate at Momiji, 11:22 am, and I've had to run to the restroom twice with diarrhea. I have tried drinking water and tea to clean my body, but I still get diarrhea and so does my girlfriend. There is no doubt in my mind that the reason behind all the stomach problems is eating at Momiji. Please, save yourself the time, money, and stomach ache and just hear up some top ramen at home. At least that way you can add seaweed if you want.

Finally tried this place despite all my friends telling me it's no good. Ordered their spicy pork bone ramen with tofu topping and their katsu curry. The ramen arrived super fast, which may be inferred as good fast kitchen turn around time or my bowl had been sitting in a line up of bowls awaiting the proper broth and topping ala assembly line. I think it was prob the latter. My katsu curry took about 10 Minutes, which is not that bad. However, many tables who ordered after me got their soups first (about 5 bowls) came out first. When my katsu curry finally hit the table, I noticed that the curry sauce had already developed a layer of curry skin. This is to say that it had been plated and ready for pick up but was sat there long enough for the sauce try dry up. Still optimistic I gave it a try. The broth had good flavor, just the right amount of heat. the ramen noodles over cooked, with small portions compared to the broth, almost looked like a bowl of pho. The toppings also came in small portions, but tasty. The katsu curry was not worth the 9.99. It was half the portion of chicken you would get from L&L and the chicken fillet was so thin, it was mostly panko. Curry sauce was nothing to rave about. Giving Momoji 2 stars: 1 for cleanliness, and the other for good broth. But if I were you, just go down to San Mateo for good ramen lots more ramen restaurants with higher quality product and with better prices. This one seems more like fast food quality ramen.

First and last time I will ever eat at this place. We waited for 30 mins to get our food and it wasn't great. You will be stepping out of this restaurant smelling like fried food. Oh and before I forget, to add one boiled egg will cost you a buck! Add 27 cents and you can buy a dozen eggs at a local Safeway...not worth the money.

New dining choices in Daly City is most definitely appreciated but unfortunately Momiji is just another sad Daly City dining option. Broth was bland and one dimensional. Noodles were a weird consistency...like in a weird chewy, undercooked way. You get ONE piece of char sui w/ your ramen. Ordered tea that was so crazy hot and was served in a ridiculous cup that even by the end of dinner it's was still too hot to pick it up to drink from it -- needless to say it made it suck even more when I realized that I was charged for tea I couldn't drink! Please don't bother. If you desperately need a ramen fix and cannot venture any further than DC then just open up a pack of instant ramen to tie you over until you can go somewhere else to properly satisfy your craving.

I have been to this new restaurant two times in a week and just LOVE the ramen and appetizers. First visit, I tried spicy soy milk ramen, really love it both the broth and noodle texture. The meat was tender and the half marinated egg had a very special taste. As appetizer, I ordered the Karaage (Japanese-style fried chicken). The Karaage is a MUST to order because it is just perfect, crunchy, and not oily; not like some places which prepare the Karaage with fatty chicken meat, still feel frozen / just out from freezer before went into the fryer. Second visit, I ordered spicy miso ramen which also very good. The Ikageso (deep fried calamari legs) was wonderful, a must try also. Can't wait for my third and more time visiting MOMIJI to have the good ramen with tasty ramen and amazing appetizers !!! Thumbs up!

I was so very excited to try this place! Spicy tonkatsu was the way to go! I do however, wish the broth was a bit spicer. AND I hate that they close for that gap in between lunch and dinner :( Other than that, I AM A FAN!

The place is a good raman house. I ordered the miso soup with the fried chicken and it was HELLA good. My mom ordered the Tonkatsu and it was alright (the miso soup was better LOL) My only thing I didn't like is the seating arrangement. The cooking area took mostly all the seating space. I'll go here again but probably need to go there really early or if I have time to wait and get seated.

Meh. Was not impressed. The hubby and I each had the tonkotsu ramen. My first impression of the ramen was that the bowl was too big for the portion they were serving. Soup base and ramen were ok, pork had no taste, egg was good. Poor hubby was still hungry and had to order food from another restaurant. Oh and try not to sit by the door. The chirping door sensor will drive you insane.

It's tough for a ramen joint because there are a lot of connoisseurs out there and there are a lot of subtle things to get right. And places like Ramen Dojo set an incredibly high standard. In that environment, this place is still solid - and that by itself is impressive. It's been historically pretty tough to find good ramen outside SF or San Mateo, and I've been disappointed a few times when I tried. I'm glad this place is close to home and I think it will become a regular part of the rotation. Broth was the highlight for me - rich and flavorful and not over-salted as others noted in the past. This is generally the most important part for me. I had the spicy miso but also sampled the regular miso. The additions were good, not over the top good like Ramen Dojo and maybe a bit stingy proportion-wise. Price was on the higher side but not outlandish. There's a few other Japanese places locally that have ramen on the menu but these guys are a cut above. And IMO they beat places like Katanaya in the city which I've given up on. So if you're craving Ramen and don't want the hassle of SF or San Mateo, this is a really good choice.

When they first opened, a lot of people complained about their broth being too salty--I think they actually listened to their customers because when I went to try the place out, the broth was not salty at all. I've been to a couple other ramen places where their broth is so salty it gives me a headache--not this place. The ramen was satisfactory. Not the absolute best I've had, but it'll satisfy my ramen cravings. I did wish the ramen included more ingredients without having to add them for $1 each. The servers were really nice and friendly. Their bathroom was clean and didn't have that nasty Clorox smell. & it's a plus that its located next to Target. :)

OK place, had the Tonkatsu ramen and octopus balls. Good, not as crouded and other places. Good value and not out of the way. Small place, limited seating Wait staff could use more training, but note dthat the place is new.

Conveniently located in Colma near Target and Michael's. Restaurant is cramped and uncomfortable, even for smaller groups. Tonkotsu ramen has tasty, hearty broth with good addition of scallions. Noodles had a good aldente texture but did not seem to mesh too well with the broth. Added pork belly but the two pieces were a bit on the small side. Of note, they did provide two vegetarian ramen options. Service was friendly but felt a little slow. If they can make better use of available space for seating and improve their wait time, they would rank a little higher and I hope that they make improvements. I would like this particular location to stick around as this is one of the areas I frequent the most.

I tried this place a few times already. Each time was better than the one before. The first time the noodles were undercooked and still hard. Fast forward to the last time. The ramen is getting a lot better. The soup was tasty. The egg was made right. I wish there was more stuff in the soup besides just noodles, meat, egg and bean sprouts. I think I been spoiled by other ramen places. I always get tonkatsu and my boyfriend the spicy version. Both are good. My friend ordered the spicy soy milk soup. I took a sip and thought it was pretty decent. It's not Ramen like in San Mateo but it's the closest I had closer to sf (with easy parking). My boyfriend is very picky about potato croquette and loves it here. Their pork belly is good too if you don't mind it being more fatty. I usually just eat around the fat anyways :] Great service too! We will be visiting this place more, especially since it's so cold!

It's great that there's a ramen place that's open in this area, because most good ramen places, I would have to make a special trip out to San Mateo or Burlingame for dinner with friends & not have to be circling around for 20 minutes looking for parking. Needless to say they are new so I won't be so harsh with them. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen & the fried chicken appetizer. Tonkatsu: the broth was definitely very good. I would say almost on par with other places I've been to. What was kind of disappointing was that they were skimping on the meat... only gave one slice of meat vs other places give two or more. The noodles were firm but then again I don't like them super soft. Fried chicken appetizer: the portions were crazy small. MAYBE good enough for two people. There were only 4 pieces that were no more than maybe 1.5 inches long? I've had better but then again... I don't expect a ramen joint to have super amazing fried chicken. The ambiance is kind of cramped and you'll know what I'm talking about if you've been there before. Because the previous business that used to be there was a taqueria, they have the island with the glass panels all around the counter... Basically, imagine eating ramen at Subway. I feel like if they knocked down that island & made more seating, it would flow much better, instead of sitting in an "L" shape. If you're coming with friends with 5 or more, you're pretty much screwed since the space is so cramped..

I went to try this place after my friends tried it and told me it's okay. We got there around 5ish so it's not busy at all but still took us 20 minutes for our orders. My tonkontsu ramen bowl was only filled half way. The chashu was literally sliced thinner than shabu beef. The half egg was served cold. The black fungas felt like from preserved. The ramen tasted like regular egg noodle that bough from asian supermarkets. The miso ramen was too salty. The salt flavor vegetarian ramen was bland. Hot tea was dollar each. Napkin was very cheap. Nothing here tasted authentic; however they do play jpop music!

I live in Pacifica and sometimes my favorite ramen place (Santa in San Mateo) just seems too far of a drive. Just tried this place today - I had the spicy tonkatsu - I am all about the broth and it had the right amount of spice without being too hot - could have used a few more toppings but I guess that's why you have the option of purchasing extra. Noodles were chewy but I am not that picky about it as long as the broth is good. Soft boiled egg is satisfying. I also had an order of the chicken karaage - pretty good serving size for the price with large pieces of meat and a flavored aioli - actually had to box it up because it was too much. Service seems prompt and adequate. I think the price of $9.99 for the bowl may be high for some - Overall, I would come back since it's so close to home. I am glad it's in Colma for convenience sake. Solid 3.5 for me.

I'm not a ramen expert but I love their Miso and spicy miso. It's close to my job and my house so I come here frequently. It's kind of a small place so it gets packed quickly for dinner on Friday and Saturday. Take out is always a good option.

I'm always up for trying new places and I'm even more down to try new places and with friends and fam. Why not make it a field trip you know?! When Momiji opened we were excited to give it a try since we live near by. There were four of us and a baby and the restaurant is rather small. Definitely a tight squeeze from table to table. I wasn't very hungry so I got the small chicken karaage and my bf got the spicy garlic pork ramen. Overall, the chicken karaage was pretty good. Not too greasy. I found the spicy garlic pork ramen to not be too spicy. Broth was flavorful, yet the consistency of the noodles were a bit harder than what I'm used to. I wouldn't recommend this place for groups as it is rather small.

Been here a couple of times and it's so good! Their tonkotsu ramen is delicious and so is the bbq pork fried rice you can get as a side! The waiter is super polite and I love the artwork on the walls. I'll definitely be back!

2.5 for the food and half star for its location, very close to my house. Ordered tori karaage, spicy tonkotsu and spicy shoyu ramen. The chicken was great! The ramen are just ok. The noodles are done right but the soup is too thin and the two soup taste the same. The soft boiled egg was nicely done. I think $10 for a bowl of noodles with just one piece of meat and a half tiny egg is too expensive. I really hope they would offer yakitori then Majikku near Ranch 99 will be out of business.

Ramen is ok but I've had better. More like a fast food version...FYI... The suggested tip guide on the receipt is misleading because it adds the tax rate (9 percent) into the total, should be calculated before tax.

The spicy broth is delicious. I almost always buy the spicy shoyu (Soy sauce) ramen, but the spicy shio and spicy tonkotsu are great too. They have a good level of heat that enhances the flavor, not distract it. The wakame salad was made just right. They have good proportions. There is plenty of parking, and is in a large commercial complex full of nearly every store you need to fill your home.

3 stars - Soup quality (spicy soy, spicy pork bone) 2 stars - noodles texture hard 1 star - quality of ingredients (1 thin slice of pork, bean sprouts, black fungus, green onions) I don't think I'll come back as this place can't be compared to the top notch spots in San Mateo. However, if you have a craving this place may due. The noodles soups don't come with many items and very basic. Place is small and doesn't handle big parties. Just like the other review mentioned 100% Chinese. (So don't look for the authentic taste) texture of noodles not there and the way the bowl of noodles is put together is not worth 9-10 bucks.

I had the gyoza and spicy soy ramen, it was so delicious! The staff was super friendly and personable and I can't say enough how good the food was.

I really really like their Spicy Soy Milk Ramen. Very simple presentation not a whole bunch of toppings like other places but it is still delicious to me. The staff is very friendly and always ready to fill your cup or take orders. Its a rather small space so seating is limited. We've been coming in weekday evenings and no wait so far. Id stay away from the Tonkotsu broth...it was way too salty for me the first and last time I ordered it.

  • Cindy C.

Vegetarian option! I love the fact that it's right off the back and not hidden. We had both the soy milk and soy sauce based. Both were flavorful. I really appreciate that waiter asked us "how was everything?" Usually, we don't get that kind of service in Asian restaurants.

  • Ravenous T.

The spicy tonkatsu ramen is very tasty. The soup is perfect and the noodles Chewy. The kaaraga chicken is perfectly fried, not greasy or fatty. Dry fried just like I like it with a Touch of spice.

  • Andrea H.

The ramen is pretty good and they have me extra pork belly. I liked the baby octopus a lot. I'm taking one star off because of the plastic bowls.

  • Kathy B.

I've definitely had better ramen than this and the noodles were a bit to firm for my taste, but my fiancee did like his that way. The broth was good and had some body to it although it lacked real depth of flavor to it. The service was great and they were all very tentative. So really the two stars is for the quality of food and the service was really a solid 4. I will be coming here again in order to get my ramen quick fix for those time that I don't want to go into the city or all the way to San Mateo for Ramen Dojo.

Veggie/vegan Ramen was so good.. Edamame wasn't salty enough, seaweed salad was excellent, and the potato croquettes were okay. Everything came out pretty much at the same time.. Though we eat fast, I didn't appreciate this. We couldn't enjoy each part of the meal. Maybe that's what they want? Not sure if we would go back again; solid 3 stars.

  • Kai M.

I would give it a 2.5 stars if I could. So the menu is simple, short and easy. I would imagine the food to be really refined and good since the menu is so short. We ordered the potato croquet, tonkotsu ramen and the kara-age donburi. The broth of the tonkotsu ramen was really thin and very disappointing. I was hoping for a more salty full flavor, but everything was a bit dull, including the donburi. Even the single piece of chashu pork was really boring and tasteless. Not the delicious ramen I was craving for... I think the instant refrigerator ramen from nijiya had a tastier broth then the ramen from here. Our service was pretty good, and the servers seemed very nice. However in the short time we were there, they messed up two of our neighbor table's orders. And for some reason, my dish came out significantly earlier then the dishes of the neighboring table that had ordered even before we sat. Pretty weird... I was really hoping for a good ramen place nearby, but it seems I still have to go to San Mateo for some delicious salty ramen. On the plus side The potato croquettes were pretty food

Recently, I was in a ramen phase where I would have ramen at least twice a week. I usually would need to go to San Mateo or the South Bay just to get some good ramen. I was pretty excited when they opened up Momiji right next to Target. There's plenty of parking, so no need to worry about that. I came here for lunch and it wasn't super packed. We had ordered hot tea just because it was cold outside and we wanted to get warmed up. Just an FYI, but tea is NOT free here. It's $1 per cup. We were disappointed just because tea elsewhere is free... Nonetheless, the tea was still good. We ordered the Karaage to share and I had the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen. The Karaage was pretty good. It was not too greasy nor oily, which I liked. As for the ramen, the noodles were pretty thick. I think they could've cooked it a bit better so that they don't clump together. I felt that the broth could've had more flavor to it. The broth was pretty creamy and milky. It wasn't even that spicy to begin with. The egg was yolky and the chasu was pretty tender. Service was not too bad that day. Overall, I thought Momiji was alright, but definitely not my first choice in ramen.

  • Alyssa C.

Not really a fan of this place. I ordered the spicy miso ramen... The broth had a sour taste to it, noodles were stuck together and had a weird texture. Maybe one day I'll come back and order something different if I dont feel like going all the way to San Mateo for my ramen fix, but for now... No thank you. Our food also too WAY TOO LONG to come. Service was nice tho.

Spicy Soy Ramen with pork bellies and sweet corn. Excellent. And I think maybe the best gyoza I've ever had. Tender and fresh. Simple black interior with long row of small tables. Friendly staff.

This place was not for me. Looking for a descent Ramen place to eat in the area, I came across this place on yelp with 3.5 stars, the best rating for a ramen place in the city. I tried it out with a friend and we both did not like the taste of the food. The quality was not bad nor was the service. But the soup bases were too salty and bland if that makes sense. There was no other flavoring besides salt. The restaurant setting is also very dark, almost too dark to even see your friends or your food. Thus, compared to all the other Ramen places I've eaten at, this is not a place I would visit again. Traveling further for good Ramen would be ideal.

  • Cindy N.

So this review would be incomplete just because I got my order to go so I didn't get to experience the service. Anyways, got an order of spicy tonkotsu ramen. It was not the best. It wasn't as spicy I thought it was going to be, the milky pork bone soup base was salty and just only one piece of pork. All this for the price of $9.99. I would rather go to Majjiku for their tonkotsu. I don't know if I would go back for other dishes... Maybe for the pork belly with rice?

I like Momiji... my first foray into ramen in the San Francisco area. I moved to SF very recently from the East Coast; ramen is a rare delicacy over in the DC area. There are a few places, but honestly, most of them are just not good/great. That being said, Momiji ramen was quite delicious. I ordered the spicy tonkotsu. It had good flavor with a small amount of heat (I eat really spicy). The pork was tender, a flaw of many places over on the East Coast. Additionally, the broth was creamy and tasty. It could use more pork, but alas one can pay for more. I will go back to try some of the other flavors to see how they stack up. But, the spicy tonkotsu does get 4 stars from me. Service was good - relatively attentive. No complaints. A bit small inside, however. Momiji is apparently new? I'm not sure about that, but Yelp claims it is. It is nicely located in Colma/Daly City, right next to the Target. Parking can be hectic. You can get your shopping done and eat some good ramen while you're at it. I know for sure that I will be trying a multitude of other places. Glad to be a SF resident now!

Opened just 3 weeks ago this ramen place already has a wait list for dinner. I was shopping at one of the stores in this same plaza and noticed their blue sign and the word "ramen" immediately caught my eye. I wasn't too hungry and decided to check it out. There were already at least 7 tables ahead of us so I decided to order for take out. I knew I couldn't finish a bowl of ramen so I ordered the takoyaki $4.99 and the kakuni donburi in small $4.99 Cashier was friendly and so were the other waiters and waitresses. We were greeted and given smiles. Order was ready in 15mins. Got 5 pieces of takoyaki, it was delicious. Warm exterior and soft insides with a bite in the octopus. The small kakuni donburi was the perfect snack size, had 3-4 pieces of yummy tender pork belly. Prices is just right. I'm definitely coming back to try their ramen!

This place isnt bad, its the closest thing youll get in daly city/colma if you dont want to drive all the way out to san mateo. Came here around 5pm, it wasnt too busy, its a super small place they have this huge hall way they might want to consider using it, get some more covers a night we ordered the appetizer pork belly and spicy miso ramen the appetizer came out quickly, but it was SUPER OILY... i think if they added less oil it wouldve been a lot more tastier. I keep reading that its ran by chinese people, that could be a possibility to why it was covered in oil. They definitely didnt need it the pork belly seemed to be very tender. its like cooking bacon in oil. not needed The spicy ramen came out, it was pretty good the noodles were al dente, the miso base was simple and delicious, the toppings were a little short but i mean it was 8.99 so i didnt really expect much. Great stepping stone to a successful restaurant, hopefully they read their yelp so they can definitely fix these improvements. They can be a really busy place. its the honeymoon stage lets see where it goes in 6 months. Service was excellent, they had tons of people working so it worked out.

I have been to almost every popular ramen house in the bay area and this place is up there with my favorites. Something must have changed because there is more noodle portions to full fill your hunger. Anything more you have a problem and don't know anything about good food. Suggestion!!! Eat here on a weekday when they open its less busy. Overall good honest food

Great location, lots of parking. The restaurant is small though. I've tried their spicy miso and spicy tonkotsu, both of which were pretty good. and they have a lot of options for broth so that's a plus.

Never been to this place, so it was my first time being here with a friend. I thought this place was pretty good as I see it was kind of busy in a way. Hhmm I ordered Shoyo Ramen.. I was pretty disappointed on my ordered... I'm not sure if they heard what I ordered or see what I pointed on the menu. I'm pretty sure I order Shoyo... The look of my ramen doesnt look like exactly as what I thought, the soup taste different, it tasted like milk and sweet. I was going to asked about it but I figured... I didn't want to get them pissed off or else they will spit on my food.. so I didn't care to ask them to change it for me. Other then that, everything was ok to me. I knew this place was alright to me because I remembered checking on yelp about this restaurant when i was there.. oh well..

squid leg is good chicken karrage is a bit salty\ seaweed salad (ok) chicken donburi is good. I am glad they have small side order for that because I won't be able to eat the full size.

This place is OK if you're gunning for ramen and are confined to South City. The broth isn't quite rich enough and the noodles tend to be hard and stringy but the sides are tasty; and it's fairly cheap. If you have a car, I recommend taking the time to go to San Mateo's Ramen Dojo or Santa Ramen, though in both cases, beware of the wait times.

My friends and I went here and the foods are good. Place is small and good locatiion especially for the students. Everythings ok but the menu list is few. Pls put more. I'll come for this one and I'm lookin forward to this. :D

This place hits the spot! Glad there's more than one ramen shop in the area (weird cause it's super foggy town here). I recommend the spicy tonkotsu ramen with extra soft boiled egg... Yummy. They gave the perfect amount of noodles, broth was flavorful and just the right amount of spice for me. We ordered ours To go and they separated the noodles and the broth which was nice. My hubs got the shoyu ramen and it was ok... Mine was better! 4 stars because it's pretty pricey for some noodles... Total for my bowl was $11 before tax and if you want to add more toppings, it just goes up. Overall, I'd definitely come back. Hope they are consistent.

Small little place that took over the taqueria by Target in Colma. Definitely not good for groups and only has about five tables. While you're sitting they also have Japanese songs playing in the background that you can listen to. Btw, they now have their credit card system setup, but there is a minimum of $10 to use. We came around 8:30PM and were starving, so we ordered a variety of food. Ordered karrage (similar to popcorn chicken), takoyaki (octopus balls) and kakuni (braised pork belly) for appetizers. The karrage came out nice and hot (the only dipping sauce they had was mayo though). The takoyaki was decent but had too much mayo (wish they put it on the side like they did the karrage). The kakuni appetizer came with five pieces and were tender but more on the salty side instead of the slightly sweet. One of the pieces was all fat, though, and it made my friend feel super sick after taking a bite of it. The server was super nice about it though and gave us complimentary cookies n cream ice cream. Forewarning, the tea is in a tea bag. If that's not your thing, don't order it. For ramen, I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen. The noodles were slightly thick and the broth was good. Not up there with the famous ramen houses, but it's a great option if you want ramen and don't want to go to the city or San Mateo for it. Service is excellent as well.

I like this place because it's conveniently located where I can get my target shopping done and fulfill my ramen craving at the same time. However, I feel they really skimp on the pork in the ramen bowls. $10 for a bowl of spicy tonkotsu ramen that contains 1 small slice of pork (if you're lucky you may get an even smaller 2nd slice), half cooked egg, some kikurage mushrooms and brussel sprouts is just a little steep when I think about more quality places like Ramen Dojo in San Mateo, which offers more bang for your buck. Overall though, it's a really decent place but the layout is terrible, making it hard to get a table even for 2 people at times. Love coming here for the fried baby octopus! Try the soy milk ramen... very interesting but don't worry, it doesn't taste like the actual drink!

  • Roni L.

I'm consistently happy with their ramen... and their lemons weren't cleaned with industrial cleaner the last time we went, so that's a plus! They need to turn UP the tension in their door, which was constantly being blown open by the wind...

Nothing spectacular. Service was a little slow, but they were apologetic. Everything was up to par with what I was expecting. I'm not a big fan of ramen to begin with. It pretty much tastes the same in terms of quality. I tasted the spicy miso and it had a good kick. The fried chicken rice bowl had good flavor and crunch. Again nothing worth praising about. The pork belly rice bowl was also standard. It was braised long enough where it was tender.

Ehhh, I gave it a try because there aren't too many ramen places in Daly City. I have very high expectations for Ramen so I didn't come in with high hopes. The portions are pretty good, and the service is okay, but the broth is way too salty. I wouldn't recommend this place, but kudos for trying!

I absolutely love the ramen here, it's ultra satisfying, one of my favorite joints. Yeah it's bit of a long wait, and yeah it's kinda understaffed, and sure cheaper ramen would be cool, BUT after trying bowl of ramen everything is worth it. Its bliss. I always leave with a sense of euphoria from how much I enjoyed the ramen.

Tonkotsu broth is perfect and delicious. Noodles are ok, nothing to get excited about. I added corn, it was crunchy and sweet. Bamboo was okay. Chashu had good flavor. Wish there was more/bigger pieces.

Ramen here really reminds me the ramen places on the street of everyday Japan: It's simple, not fancy, yet flavorful and satisfying. However the tori don and BBQ pork fried rice we tried are not as good.

This place is better than Majikku in my opinion. I always order the spicy miso tonkotsu and the broth is actually quite yummy. It's not too spicy or mild, it's just right. I usually come here if I'm craving for ramen really bad. Our food came out quick (10 mins). Friendly servers and good service.

  • JJAMZ C.

There are not many options for ramen in Colma/Daly City area. That being said, I do prefer Momjii to Majjiku solely for the reason of having a perfectly soft boiled egg added to their ramen. They do not have an extensive menu, but the broth was flavorful (not too salty), and they had deliciously soft and melt in your mouth pork belly. True it is a bit expensive for ramen (considering their portions are not too big), but I still felt it was enough for me. Be prepared to pay for any extra toppings. Also, if you go early enough (we went right after my kids' school and my work) there is no line or wait. The service is fast and they were friendly and attentive.

This is my first time coming here, and I can say that I like it already: 1. It's close by (I don't have to drive to San Mateo to get my ramen fix) 2. The food is pretty good and well proportioned. 3. The customer service is excellent and it feels like the waiters genuinely care about their customers! 4. Restrooms are clean! The only con is that the restaurant itself is small. Definitely will be returning here. I highly recommend the Spicy Tonkatsu if you like your ramen with a kick!

Might be a good place to visit if one is around the neighborhood or finishes shopping at Target. Went with my family for dinner on Sunday night. Unfortunately, nothing really stood out or screamed delicious. Service was decent, but their core attraction, ramen, was only mediocre. Soup base was so-so, not hot enough (I love my food served HOT). OK to try once, but probably not likely to go back......

  • DJ Nocturna R.

Noodles/ramen were delicious and they give you a generous portion. This is an interesting place with an interesting shape. They could make use of the space better by putting more tables and chairs in the very long hallway. People like privacy with no one beside them.

  • Fashionista M.

It was okay, nothing great that would make me crave frequenting there. Menu could be more impressive. I had the vegetarian ramen and was very bland had to add lot of spice to make it edible. (wish they had Sciracha) My friend had the chicken ramen and he said it was okay nothing special. Calamari legs (apps) was better than both of our ramens together. I think if you were shopping at Target then it's a good choice of eatery, but if I was craving for very good ramen I would drive to Majikku Ramen at Skyline Plaza. Kind of feel for the location and small menu that it's a bit overpriced or not that good of quality taste or deal than Majikku. I do not think this spot is for the Ramen connoisseur though for people who eat it only seldom, it'll probably do just fine. Food service was friendly enough.

It's pretty cool that I don't have to travel to SF or Burlingame for good Ramen now. We came around 6pm on a weekday and there was no wait. I had the tonkatsu ramen which I may say was pretty good. I also ordered the chicken karage for appetizer and it was delish! Definitely expect smaller portions for your appetizers but the soup was a good size. My only complaint about the place is the size. This is my third time coming because the wait was always long. They have about less than 15 tables. No bueno!

Best ramen to date in daly city, so glad we tried this place and not head out to san mateo for the jammin ramen places over there, like ramen parlor, ramen dojo, etc.. It's preti good compared to that ramen house whatchamacallit in skyline plaza and the 1s in westlake and century theater in dc. Lots of parking coz its rite next to target and michaels off of junipero serra. I can see this place packed within coming months coz of Xmas shopping and all that, plus the huge Asian populace in the area. Just kinda sad they don't serve beer or any type of alcoholic drink,..so if u read this momiji please add Sapporo or asahi in your menu

About 2 weeks ago, my boyfriend and I were craving ramen. So the first thing I did was go on Yelp and basically searched for the nearest ramen place in Daly City. When I found that there was a very close ramen place called Momiji near Serramonte, I was very intrigued because I never heard of Momiji before. I even asked my boyfriend if he ever heard of it, which he didn't, but said he wanted to try it out. So we head on over there, parked the car and as we walked in, we were able to get a table fairly quickly. One of the first things I noticed about the restaurant were the small amount of tables. Unfortunately, I noticed that there were about five groups of people that arrived after us, but they had to wait longer for a table. Eventually, only one group stayed while the rest left. After a 5 minute wait, the waiter arrived with the menus and 2 glasses of water. The second thing that I noticed about the restaurant was that there weren't that many items listed, so I guess it was a good thing that the waiter gave us enough time to think it over. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen with extra chashu whereas my boyfriend ordered the spicy soy milk ramen. Because it was a very cold day and it was already lunch time, I was really hungry. It took about 10-15 minutes until our food arrived. When I took a sip of the broth, I really enjoyed it. I didn't even need to add anything extra because it just tasted that smooth. I asked my boyfriend what he thought of his ramen, and he said that it was really good despite the name of it, which was spicy soy milk. I tasted his ramen and thought that his ramen was a lot tastier than mine! At best there are at least two pieces of chashu in the ramen so adding extra chashu ($2) was the best way to go. I do have to say that the broth at Momiji was a lot tastier than the broth at Ajisan in San Mateo. The meat was well cooked, but the noodles threw me off a bit because of its bright yellow color. It was an overall tasty meal. I am definitely coming back here!

The soy milk ramen was good, but I liked my husbands Tonkatsu better. The portion size is pretty good, but cha siu is only one piece. Also, I didn't really care for it. The noodles weren't as al dente as other popular ramen joints, which was a bummer. The karaage was terrible, the batter wasn't what we expected, like other chicken karaages. The potato croquette ok. The place filled up quickly around 6p on Sat. The wait was never more than 2 parties ahead tho. Decent place to go to satisfy my ramen craving if I just can do the wait at Ramen Dojo. Service was attentive as well and prices were cheaper than other ramen places.

I have been here three times, and all three times, disappointed. First, the location is ridiculously small. The kitchen takes up 75% of the entire restaurant! Second, the tables are squished so close together that I had to wait until the couple next to me left so I could leave as well. And of course their post meal ramblings about 50 shades of grey, or whatever they were currently reading made it intolerable. Third, you sign in, and the server doesn't seem to understand the definition of customer service. He checks off names, sees if they are there, and if they don't respond, he goes back in, even with 4 or 5 tables completely empty and a line of people waiting. I though Ramen Dojo and that over-rated Boiling Crab were bad at customer service, but this place takes the cake. So, IF you are lucky to be seated within 45 minutes of arrival, and you are not suffocated by being stuffed into seating like a sardine can, apparently the server will not only take the orders of people he knows first, but also bring out their ramen first as well. I ordered 20 minutes before a couple seated two tables away from me, and they got their ramen (the exact same as I ordered) 10 minutes before I received mine. Now, on to the taste: the popularity of this place does not speak for the quality of their food. Apparently, there is a shortage of ramen places, and I must be spoiled. Menoh Tokushima in SF and Union City are by far the best ramen I've had anywhere outside of Hawaii (ramen dojo does not hold a candle), and this place is nothing close to authentic. The broth is very...watery to say the least, and obviously the flavor is added post, as opposed to during the cooking process, as is the tradition. IF you know what REAL ramen is supposed to taste like, or if you even have any idea what REAL food is supposed to taste like, this place is just sub-par. Drive north about 15 minutes to Men Oh, and you'll find higher quality ramen, with broth that is to die for. Save yourself the headache, don't eat here, unless they fix their recipes, and their service.

My sister and I discovered this little ramen noodle house in Colma during the Holidays - very much needed for this Target/Micheal's/Bev Mo shopping area (is there even a name for this strip mall?) I've come to like the shoyu soy milk ramen and Husband likes the spicy shoyu bowl. We find ourselves here on the weekends maybe twice a month. It's a bit of a treat for us since we live in the area and can't deal with SF parking.

First time I had spicy soy milk based ramen broth, and it was yummy! Sweet, not too salty, and full of flavors. Kakuni was tender and delizz. Service was great, too. Our waitress was very nice, attentive, and just wanted to make her customers happy. I wish they had a branch in SF.

Well, I didn't even know that this place was in colma, ( soo close to my place), a real hidden treasure, i decided to try it, the waiter was really nice, the menu was very easy to follow, and the ambiance of the place was welcoming, unfortunately I was with out a phone so u didn't take pictures of the dish, but the kakuni was AMAZING!! This is what I ordered: Spicy miso Tofu Kakuni I even ordered one to go for my husband to try, he is not much into Asian food, but after trying this he said that he could have a bowl of ramen any day as long as it was from momiji!!!

Not a fan, at all. I used to work next door to this restaurant, back when it was a Taqueria joint. I was disappointed when I found out it closed, but was excited to know that there was a new ramen place replacing it. I might've hyped it up a little too much. I wanted to try it out during it's grand opening, so I asked my coworker to go with me since we do eat a lot of ramen together. It wasn't that busy, but it could have been because we decided to go at a weird hour.. in-between lunch and dinner. I ordered the soy sauce flavor and my friend ordered a different one. I asked to make mine extra spicy and when I compared my soup to my friend's, they tasted exactly the same. I try not to compare other places in my reviews, but I can't help it! Forgive me, or stop reading! But I think Majikku kicks this place's as*. Sorry, but if you like it here.. Have at it. Don't let the bland flavors stop you. You just won't have my wonderful company with you.

After a couple tries, I think I'm okay with giving them two stars. Would love to pass along more, but they really need to put more work into their ramen broth. I don't think I've ever had ramen broth that seemed to be completely devoid of all salty and savory component. I first tried their tonkasu ramen and wasn't sure if it was actually tonkatsu broth, or chicken soup. Perhaps I am spoiled after Ramen Dojo, Santa Ramen and the like...but taste is taste...and their broth is clearly lacking it. Second try I ordered the miso ramen. Again, the broth just left me wondering where the chef learned to make ramen. One dimensional, anemic with the ingredients and simply boring. Harsh, I know...but it's just not great ramen. Honestly, I would prefer Majiku over theirs...and that is saying a lot. Perhaps in a moment of desperation I'll give them another try, but for now...I'll have to pass them up and take the drive to San Mateo's delicious shores of ramen.

The ramen was pretty frickin good...and this is coming from a noodle snob. I got the spicy tonkatsu, extra spicy, with pork belly added and the hubby got the spicy miso. The spicy tonkatsu soup was better than the spicy miso, but that's just my opinion. The ramen comes with a soft boiled egg and it was on point! We also got the pork belly appetizer (bomb), deep fried calamari legs aka tenticles (cool), and the gyoza (aight...typical gyoza). I loved the texture of the noodles...it was kind of and chewy and perfect! The service was amazing; the staff checked on us at least 3 times and dilled our waters. I'm comin back for sure. It's not Ramen Dojo but it definitely hits the spot when you're feenin for some ramen. Plus, you don't have to wait in line....at least for now. Next time I'm gonna get extra extra spicy....I love a lot of heat in my food.

Wasn't the best, but wasn't the worst, if youre too lazy to go anywhere farther than daly city then this is an ok place. Good service, waitress was very helpful and attentive, came by the table to ask if everything was allright. Price was a little high considering quality of ramen

This place opened fairly recently and I wanted to try it because there aren't any really good ramen places outside of SF and San Mateo. Tonkotsu with Kakuni - Pork bone broth with noodles, green onions, bean sprouts, mushrooms, 1 piece of chashu, and i added 2 pieces of pork belly. the tonkotsu broth was pretty good, which surprised me. Pork and salt flavorwise, it was fatty and rich, and tasted actually pretty good. The only thing weird about the broth was there was a kinda burnt roasty and bitter taste which was most likely from the bean sprouts. The noodles were cooked perfectly and were nice and chewy. They also picked up the broth very well. The pork (both the kakuni and chashu) were underseasoned. The chashu was perfect from a tenderness and fat content point. The kakuni was a bit on the dry side, even after letting it simmer in the tonkotsu broth. The kakuni was also on the gamey side in flavor, which also could have affected the broth's taste. Overall, this place is good, but still not as good as what you'd find in SF or San Mateo. However, the broth and noodles are good enough to dissuade me some of the time from having to drive to san mateo or SF. Overall, I'd say momiji is easily the best ramen between Daly City and Burlingame.

Not too shabby at all. The broth and noodles are spot on. Great flavor in broth and nice tender yet al dente texture on the noodle. The price is not bad, pretty much each entree was below $10. The servings are decent. So why this place is missing one star? Actually, it would be missing half a star (Yelp doesn't have half star option) - the egg. Essential to any ramen experience, they cheaped out on it and you only get half. This is the first time I went to a ramen shop where they served with half an egg. Most will either serve without and give you an option to add one for $1, or serve a whole egg as its standard topping. That sensation of biting into a firm yet tasty egg with runny yolk was robbed from me here :( Warning: its spicy ramens are pretty spicy - spicier than the red chili sauce that Chipotle puts in its burritos with some Tabasco. I hope this provides a gauge. Based on a previous review, my friend nearly choked on the spicy pork-bone ramen due to the unexpected kick. PS: they take credit cards for transactions over $10.

This place makes it very convenient to go for ramen while also shopping at Target. I liked the taste of their kontatsu ramen soup base, which is what my friend ordered during my visit here and I had a taste of it. (I ordered the spicy miso which is what I normally do what I'll definitely keep the other one in mind on a future visit.) The service is okay, maybe a little above average in friendliness. There is a lot of wasted space in the restaurant, however, because of the long narrow hallway in the back. It's too bad that, because of that, they can't have more dining tables given their store size.

I was really skeptical of this place, but found myself hungry and in the neighborhood; so I decided to try it. I had the spicy miso with everything. it was surprisingly good. the broth had a good flavor, even though I would prefer it to have more of a kick. The service was attentive, although a bit slow. Not the best I've had, but I would recommend trying it at least once. I will def be back. :)
