I came in with a gal pal a few weekends ago and tried their breakfast burrito...Effin' Bomb Yo! It was HUGE, enough to share with a buddy. Potatoes, eggs, sausage, bacon and melted CHEESE all nicely rolled in a warm tortilla, served w/ a side of sour cream and salsa, for $5.99. One of the best I've had! Definitely belongs on my list of Best Breakfast Burritos.

The Pros: Friendly, down-home waitresses, gigantic portions, you can easily split one meal between two people and save some cash. The Cons: The gigantic portions are, unfortunately, of low quality food. The bacon & cheese omelet has no cheese. After eating there, my boyfriend and I both feel queasy and fat. The famous 25 cent coffee is actually $1.80, despite the website advertising this as "The Home of the 25 Cent Coffee!" wtf??

Come to Guasti when you're famished. Not just "kinda hungry." Seriously. Their plates are Flintstone-sized and hearty: biscuits w/ gravy, omelettes galore, corned beef hash, ham and eggs, pancakes, french toast - they have it all. It's the kind of homestyle place where every coffee mug is mis-matched and you get red-checked tablecloths and all the waitresses call you "Hon." Note to the ladies: it's not a typical brunch type of place. No mimosas or bellinis or eggs benny. And most of the peeps run in, eat, and run out. So if you're looking for a brunch establishment where you can linger and get your flutes refilled, then maybe this isn't your place.

Many people consider Flo's to be the best breakfast joint in Chino - I beg to differ. While I don't hate Flo's, Guasti's is cleaner. No flies or dingy tables, or antiques that have been collecting dust. The staff is cheerful and energetic, and the food is just better. The restaurant itself is very different than the norm. It looks like an old, sprawling one-story house that's been converted into a restaurant. There are many rooms of different shapes and sizes, with lots of windows and natural light flooding in. It has a down-home feel, so it's pretty much the opposite of trendy or glamorous. They serve 25 cent coffee in different donated mugs, and the waitresses usually call me sweetie or something cutesy. The food comes in gigantic portions. My favorite is the egg, cheese, & bacon croissant sandwich, which comes with a side of their delicious breakfast potatoes. I also love their omelettes and cinnamon french toast as well. If someone at your table orders the pancakes, you won't have to order your own to try some. They're ridiculously big. Think Man vs. Food style. I love the cozy feel of this restaurant and the yummy, hearty food they serve. When you want a break from the chain breakfast places like IHOP and Denny's, come here. You won't be disappointed. (Disclaimer: it's cash only and only open for breakfast and lunch.)

*Highlight: it's fun to look at the giant pancakes A few of my friends wanted to have a parting breakfast, and Chino is a little out of the way so I had to wake up considerably earlier than I should be allowed to. I was a little disgruntled, so perhaps that is tainting my experience. The atmosphere was cozy and homey--there was warm lighting and red and white checked tablecloths. The breakfast itself I didn't feel was so different from any other American diner, and probably not worth that drive. My friends and I had assorted breakfast items: breakfast burritos, biscuits, various potatoes and breakfast meats, and we shared the pancake. Again, pretty standard (but bordering the more yummy side of breakfast foods). The giant pancakes were indeed something to behold. It's kind of a novelty thing, so while I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, if you're a morning person and are looking for something to do you could go take a look.

So I was told about this place that is know for "The Giant Pancake" and of course, being a breakfast guy I would go and check it out. Long story short, nothing to get excited about, if this were a theme park type restaurant, the only attraction would be "The Giant Pancake" (that stuck to my plate). Not to mention the biscuits seemed under baked, the sausage patty looked under cooked on one side and charred on the other. The homefries were the worst I have ever had, I should have ordered french fries instead because the only flavor it had was salt, no onions or bell peppers. Not to also mention the one cup of coffee I had that was muddy, it took 6 creamers to dilute it. I'm kinda glad they didn't ask me for a refill. I'm one who likes to drive and try out different spots, this might be ok for the local yolkles, but it doesn't even come close to what I have had. Me giving them 2 stars, is their tip.

This place is amazing! You definitely get your money's worth here with the huge portions they serve. I've been coming here for a while now and every person I've brought has become a fan. Love love loove their huge pancake. The staff is always friendly and it has a homely feel to it. Only thing that sucks is that it's cash only and it gets crazy busy in the mornings. Other than that, love this place!

I tried Guasti Homestyle Cafe for the first time today. It wasn't busy (as it's monday) our server was very nice and took our order quickly and it didn't seem like it took long to get our food. The homefries were really good! I am pretty picky about my hashbrowns/ homefries but these were cooked really well and were seasoned perfectly. yum! I ordered a Beefeater sandwich because I don't like eggs much and for breakfast all they offer is egg dishes, pancakes, etc. My sandwich was good. Loaded with beef, melted cheese and ortega chiles. Needed a little salt though. My sister ordered eggs and bacon with biscuits & gravy. She is said the biscuits and gravy were amazing! The price was really cheap considering the plates were HUGE. While we were there someone ordered the giant pancakes... WOW! My sister saw them and actually froze and stopped speaking. They were bigger than a frisbee!!!! HUGE HUGE HUGE! You could literally order those and share them with a group! Give this place a try! I did try to come here on a saturday morning and couldn't even find parking anywhere. So know on weekends they get crazy busy!

I got the guasti omelette and 1 pancake. Man i was full! Good thing i can eat haha food was awesome. But the bathrooms were a little weird. I almost walked into the girls restroom cuz they arent side by side like normal joints. Mens on one side of room womens on other side.

for portion size they get 5 stars, I wanted to give them 2.5 stars, but that's not an option. Service was great and the delivery was quick, but reality is the food is mediocre. It is cafe style food with huge portions and decent prices. I had the breakfast burrito and the wife had the pancake combo. The burrito was plain sausage, bacon, egg, potato and cheese. It was huge but lacked depth and texture. Something I would expect at a friend's house for breakfast (minus the size). My wife's pancake was typical at best and the bacon lacked flavor. It was ok but absolutely no wow factor. If you are looking for large portions and don't care about flavor and texture, then this place is a haven for you. This is large portion cafeteria food, nothing more.

One of our favorite cafes. Huge servings, great food and friendly service. They have 18" pancakes that actually taste great.

  • Patty S.

I love this place. Prices are fair and the food is amaing! Not to mention the portions are huge! You WILL need a to go box. My favorite is the meat lovers skillet. Oh and its known for its huge pancakes... they r the size of two 'individual' size pizzas. A must try place

First thing I noticed when I walked into this place... PANCAKES soo FREAKIN' BIG, that it hangs off the edges of the plate. I gotta tell ya, they are soo big you could probably use a pancake as a blanket, their, that big! lol [exagerated] Environment/Atmosphere From the outside, the place looks like they are renovating. It almost doesn't look like a restaurant, but on the inside it looks like any other diner. Parking lot could bet better... its not paved, and its pretty busy, so you'd be lucky to find parking in lot thats only big enough to hold at the most 40 cars. This place is pretty clean, and pretty roomy, they have an outdoor patio for any to enjoy a meal outside. This place looks a little old fashioned as well. Its handicap friendly, I mean i was on crutches and I was able to get around. Food/Drinks If you are down for pancakes this is the place to eat at. I was honestly intimidated after walking through the restaurant and see people struggle and/or not finish their pancake. I ended up getting FRENCH TOAST!!! I love that stuff. Even for my dish, they gave a very generous amount, because the proportions were HUGE! I also ordered a side of bacon. For drinks they offer a wide range of juice, milk, coffee, and my personal favorite, I had the HOT CHOCOLATE! They give you a HUGE cup, and topped it with whip cream. DEEEEELISH!!! Overall This place is perfect, and VERY tasty, and they give you A LOT! All their dishes were in ENORMOUS proportions, they make sure you leave FULL. haha You sure get a lot for your money, this place is not at all expensive. Definitely recommend. Will most likely go here again to show the girlfriend the place.

This is place is definitely true to its name...it's your American homestyle joint. Went here on a Sunday afternoon with my BF and were seated after a short wait. The waitress started us off with coffee (with a few refills) in mismatched mugs. The table was covered in a red checkered table cover you'd picture at a picnic. Cute. I ordered the small but huge portion of biscuits and gravy, with a side of poached eggs. My BF ordered the cinnamon french toast combo (came with 2 thick slices, 2 bacon, 2 poached eggs). The poached eggs were inconsistent (mine were perfect, while his were too runny & watery). Biscuits and gravy were rich and tasty, but didn't finish it. My BF thought the cinnamon french toast was "ok", but he'd probably order the regular french toast combo next time. Service could be improved. Our waitress disappeared for about 15 minutes after we asked for the bill. Oh, the maple syrup canister at our table was sticky since everyone prior to us probably had their paws on it. The total bill was a little over $21+tip. All in all, it was an good experience. However, we might just stick to Denny's and their french toast breakfast combo for $6 a piece.

I have been here a few times over the years. The place is clean. There is an outdoor and indoor eating area. The service is good but if you go during the weekend it gets real busy and service slows down. The food good but nothing above average (its a lot better thing ihop, denny's or mimis) Most plates can serve 2-3 people.

Came here on a Friday morning, it was pretty busy but we were still taken care of. But the food was very good, the hubby had the meat lovers skillet and I munched on a much craved biscuits and gravy. Now something that didn't sit right with us was as we walked in, this lady in the front, an older white lady, yelled at her worker Miguel right in front of us and made a nasty face when he turned around. People treating others like that for me is a no-no, but when they are your employees it's a hell no. Our waiter was extremely nice and attentive though, but that lady yelling at her worker made it start on a sour note. And the fact that they charge $ 1.00 for an extra plate was ridiculous too and it's cash only (the ATM machine charges you $2.00 to take money out). Will we come back? Meh, next time I think we'll just drive up to Corky's.

  • Maria B.

Came here for breakfast after so many friends recommended it. I had the chorizo and eggs with hash browns and they were really good. The melted cheese on top of the chorizo was pretty tasty. My husband had one of the vegetarian omelettes and said it was good too. The portions were huge by anyone's standards, so keep that in mind. Also, they only accept cash. We would come back.

  • John N.

Huge portions! Huge flavor! Pancakes are the size of the sun, 1 cake is enough to feed a small village. Service is great, place is clean and is always crowded. Biscuit and gravy are finger licking good.

  • Dina M.

Just ate here and the reviews are all on target. Ridonculous proportions. Cash only. Not all of the parking lot is paved, so don't bring your car here after a fresh wash & wax! We had a big group, so we ordered a few things: one pancake (that was shared by all 8 of us!), country fried steak, a hobo scramble, ham and eggs, and biscuits and gravy. The food was good - not the best I've had, but good. The hobo was delicious - definitely the best thing on the table! Jackie was our waitress and she was great, especially after she asked us to pray for "her Oakland Raiders." (They lost the next day - sorry, Jackie!) This is not a fancy place - the atmostphere is laid-back, the decor leaves much to be desired. Not a good place if you're trying to impress a first date. Unless your date is a sumo wrestler.

This was our first time at the new location. We use to goto the old location all the time. I ordered the pancake's with bacon and eggs. yes the pancakes are the biggest you will ever see and they are also the thickest. Its been so long since we have had them and i forgot how big they really are. i was really disappointed though. I didnt care for them at all. the butter didnt do anything for them and the syrup was gross. If a pancake is really good i can just eat it with butter but i couldnt do it. I dont remember them being this bad. My wife ordered a ham egg croissant. It was ok. This is probably a better location for them but i still miss the old place. Still parking problems though. im sure will be back but i hope its better or wont make the drive again.

I tell everyone about this place!!. Great food and portion!. BIG portions!, Guasti's is known for their HUGE pancakes and 25c coffee. LOVE the Breakfast here, havent tried anything else since they dont have a selection for vegetarians.

Cash only. This is a fun place to eat. It has character and the food is pretty good (as far as diner food goes). The service is nice and the portions are pretty generous.

  • Jeffery L.

my friends and I arrived at 6am to start the day off right, with HUGE portions followed by food coma. we heard of this place from another friend thats been here before. at first we were skeptical about how big their portions could possibly be. she said the pancakes are crazy big but how big could it possibly be? pretty f***ing big. but apart from the portions that they serve, I didnt find the food to be all that amazing. we all ordered different things and ate from each others plates but soon realized that everything just tastes the same. and apart from the pancake being the size of a pizza pan(a bit exaggerated) it was super rubbery and i cant recall the pancake even tasting like anything other than the syrup we had to drench it with. I also have a problem with the fact that they only accept cash. some places still do this but seriously? lets get with the times.

I am overjoyed that a place like this exists. Contentment, in restaurant form. Huge portions, super homestyle food, sweet waitresses who have pet names for their customers, $.25 cups of coffee, pancakes bigger than vinyl records, and some local history behind it all. Sure, they use processed cheese in some stuff. Sure, the coffee is exactly the quality you'd expect for that price. But there's so much more to it all than that. There's something oddly communal about coming to breakfast or lunch here. Like you're a participating member of the community. I can't really explain it, it has to be experienced. They close early, 2pm on weekdays and 3 on weekends. The prices are good, but the fact that the portions are so huge that you're gonna end up sharing your meal with someone else makes the total bill for two stuffed people freakishly cheap.

    (5)
  • Joe M.

pancakes are huge and I enjoy this place although if you are ordering pancakes order 1 for a couple of people because if your like Me you wind up throwing away leftover pancake.

If you are ever starving or want to eat enough for the next week, stop by Guasti Cafe in Ontario. This place serves homestyle breakfast at huge portions and low prices! The portions are so huge you can share and still have leftovers to bring home for under $10! My recommendations include the pancakes which are about 12in diameter and barely fit on the plate or any of the omelettes that come with potatoes AND biscuits & gravy!! Don't worry there's a costco bottle of Mrs. Buttersworth on the table for your pancakes and a scoop of melted butter on those pancakes!! And for those coffee lovers - cup of joe is ONLY 25 cents!

  • Zoot V.

They get points for BIG. But the food is on the low side of average diner food. Nothing to write home about except portions too big for Shaq & a lumberjack.

WAKE UP PEOPLE - there are a LOT of quality breakfast places within 10 minutes of this place. DRIVE ON BY..... We ate at the old location near the airport & that set the tone! My "hubcap" pancake was RAW in the middle & when I looked at the underneath side, it was burned. Go figure. Talented cook to pull that one off! I am a Diet Coke addict. NOT at this place since they sell their sodas BY THE CAN. Add that to your bill if you want refills....YIKES After waiting almost 30 minutes for our order, the waitress dropped several hints that there were lots of people waiting in the lobby. WAIT - we waited 30 minutes for our food & you expect us to leave after woofing down our food in 10 minutes? Are you serious? Fast forward to the Chino location years later. We were a group of 4. There was nobody waiting to be seated but it still took someone 5 minutes to find us a table - ? We sat down, waited another 5 minutes before a rather grouchy older waitress came to the table. Obviously unhappy that she is still working in a place like this at her age - not my fault..... We ordered & waited for coffee. I made the HUGE mistake of turning over one of their mismatched coffee mugs. Cute idea but I uncovered the reason. FILTH.......I don't mean staining from coffee - DIRT. It actually looked unwashed. So of course, we all started turning over the cups. Hey - a matching set - LOL. They were ALL nasty. I went to another empty table - SAME thing...... I never found a clean coffee cup. We told one of the waitresses & she said, "Oh, the dishwasher must not be working well"......HOW BOUT THE PERSON WHO PUT THE DIRTY CUPS ON THE TABLE????? We walked out. Sorry - the coffe could be free - I'll pass......

The staff are amazing here , very friendly and quick service. They always notice when you need something you dont even have to ask. I went there on my birthday and they treat you like it was your day its a very nice family house , like your in someones home. I love it.

So I've read all the reviews and decided me and wifey should put this place to the test. I arrived and found the parking lot in the back filled. Luckily someone was leaving so I got a spot but people were still coming in. Nice to see this place is popular. Walking up and saw that the waiting room was packed so I was prepared to wait a bit before the carnage began. To my surprise. We were seated in a few mins. One thing that did stand out as a negative was they only take cash, but fortunately they had a ATM machine there. We were lead to a table that seated me, wifey and the kid comfortably. I was afraid that being packed that we would get jammed like sardines somewhere in the building. As I looked around I notice that they had alot of different rooms for seating, its seemed that seating was located everywhere....outside, inside, tables here, tables there. On to the service. I found it quite funny that our waitress reminded me of "Flo" from the old sitcom "Alice". She was funny too and saw to our needs. Now for the main event. My wife got the Pancake Combo. Two Huge Ass pancakes on 1 plate. The pancakes were spilling over the plate. Bacon and eggs. My wife only ate half of one pancake and took the rest home. I cracked a joke when she brought it and said "Excuse me we ordered the large". She chuckled. As for me and ordered the New York Steak and eggs with hash browns & biscuits and gravy. Finished everything except the hash browns. The quality was good but the quantity was definitely "Food Coma-ish". This place is awesome for homestyle food with good atmoshere. Should you eat this regularly (Not if you want to live to 50) Is this place healthy....most likely not (might want to pass on inviting your vegan, veggie or health nut friends) I will definitely be back....after I work out for a few hours extra=)

Guasti Omelet was delicious. I ordered one to go after seeing the picture that someone posted on Yelp. It was packaged with hash browns, a separate container for biscuits and gravy, a tiny container of salsa, and two sets of packaged utensils. I had a pretty big appetite going into this meal coming from an hour workout at the gym. But all I could finish was the omelet and a few bites of the gravy. Had I brought the wife, it would have been the perfect amount. Plus: Five minute wait time All the grease they put into making the omelet so delectable Minus: Salsa container too small (I guess I could have asked for a second) Woman up front not much of a greeter

Food is pretty good, however, the customer service is terrible. I've been a few times and always get terrible seating and the lady who rings us up (who I'm assuming is the owner) has a terrible attitude. I enjoy the food but will not be going back again due to the poor customer service.

I was introduced to Guasti Cafe back in college when someone told me that if you can eat their short stack of pancakes, that you would get your name on the wall. I was ready for the challenge but when I got there, I realized how stupid that would be since a short stack probably weights 6lbs. Back before they were located in Chino, they were located in Ontario next to the airport. It was one of those places that you had to go with someone who has been their before because it was located in a really strange back lot that was hidden from the main road. After the move, it's easy to find and the food is just about the same. The Good: Orange Juice Breakfast Burrito Steak Ham Pancakes The Bad: Greasy Portions are just ridiculous

  • Eliz G.

Amazing for a local cafe/diner. The portions are HUGE, prices are great, and the service is impeccable. We loved the small-town charm of Guasti. Our accountant recommended Guasti to us as we are not from the area. We were starving... craving a good, big breakfast. Guasti made us so happy! The food was great, and we had breakfast for the next day, too! I had a veggie omelette and my husband had the meat lovers skillet. The biscuits and gravy were also very good. Places that usually serve biscuits and gravy are sometimes hesitant to season their gravy heavily, but this wasn't the case at Guasti. The gravy was very flavorful. Fresh squeezed orange juice was DELICIOUS, and I hate orange juice! We will definitely drive the 20 minutes to eat here again.

  • Danielle P.

So delicious! The pancakes aren't just huge, they're the best pancakes I've had! Their ham and cheese omelet was perfect, not overcooked like a lot of places, and with yummy cheddar cheese and big chunks of ham. The waitresses are really friendly, and I love their collection of coffee cups :) the waitresses don't just bring your food and leave you alone, they come back to refill your coffee and check on you very often.

  • Ramon S.

Oh wow! I was really overwhelmed not only by the portion but the taste of their food. We ordered some specials written on their whiteboard on the entrance. I forgot what it was called but its an omelet with some bacon and cheese and spinach. It was awesome. The pancakes are what they're known for. Huge, like a medium pizza size. The servers are very friendly and fast. I can't give it my fifth star due to the cash only thing and the parking space at the back's surface is just gravel. You'll get your car some kind of dusty. Other than that, it's worth it.

  • Hal S.

I can't find anything wrong with this place. I've been to the original and aside from the location, this place is the same. The staff is as good as I remember. Very prompt w/ coffee refills, water and very friendly. Not noisy or over populated like some other places. This joint is a gem in the I.E. Price is equal to the amount of food you receive. Not as quaint as orig. but who cares, the food and service are the same, if not better. I would highly recommend Guasti, to carry on the tradition. You will really like it ! !

Here the prices are cheap and the portions are huge, extremely huge. It's good for breakfast, because after eating here you won't want to eat anything else for the rest of the day. The only thing is that the restaurant is old and so are their utensils, plates and cups. Their coffee cups were dirty and utensils. But the service was good, when the waitress wasn't too busy. Cash only, so bring cash.

  • Elton W.

I really wanted to like this place, but I don't think I will be back. Overdone sausage, cold eggs. pancake was too doughy and dry (granted it was huge). The biscuits and gravy were good, though. I much prefer the Original Pancake House chain for breakfast.

pretty good french toast! pancakes are size of a tire!!no joke!size of a bike tire! me and the hubby ordered 3blindly and now read to go back to sleep :) very busy place . very spacious pretty good service. we will return . thanks homestead. next time i will take a pic.cool place.

1.) The portions are ridiculously huge 2.) It's fairly cheap 3.) Parking kinda sucks 4.) Perfect for large families that want that mom & pop feel on a Sunday morning I got some sort of hash that covered literally the whole plate. I'm not the biggest eater, so I kinda regretted not just sharing with my boyfriend. When we left we had two boxes full of eggs and hashbrowns. Our bill did not exceed $20 which was surprising considering the portions. It was tasty and quick and I definitely recommend it. There might be a little wait, but whatever.

First visit for breakfast at the Guasti Homestyle Cafe since oh, I guess 25 years ago when it was actually AT Guasti. We went early on Sunday, about 8:15am and it was pretty quiet in there. My parents were shocked as I pulled into the closest parking spot and said they had never seen it not jam packed, so here is the hint... 8am on a Sunday! BOOM! Our server was friendly in a snarky "Kiss My Grits" manner, got our food order, kept the coffee coming for the parents and delivered everything at the same time. I have been craving biscuits and gravy and continually disappointed everywhere I go, so I gave 'em a try and they were fine, but nothing spectacular; better than any of the others I'd had, though, so there is that. the husband had machaca and eggs and he said it was good and the parents split a skillet and took some home! The food here is quite large, so sharing isn't a bad thing. The iced tea was good. It's pretty big, so can fit a lot of people. CASH ONLY, though... probably good to know before we went there for my mom's birthday brekky. Did I mention the only person there with cash was my mom? Nice. Just be prepared for that. Overall, casual atmosphere, decent and large breakfast, friendly staff. Oh, and I guess they like it when you bring your own coffee cup...

A great place for breakfast!!!!! They serve huge portions of food!! I came here with my hubby and we ordered one omelet and we could hardly finish it!!! Definitely a great experience!!! This place has a mom and pop shop feel to it!!! Enjoy!!!!!! I would come back!!!!

We were fortunate enough to try this place out first on a Monday morning, so I'm sure we avoided the usual weekend crowds. We were seated promptly and ordered within 10 minutes. The food came out in about another 10 minutes. My husband waited longer than normal for his glass of water. The cup was rather gross. (Please see pictures) it's time for them to switch these out or go to town on them with a scrub. Both water cups were like that. Anyways, the food was delicious and that warrants a 4 star rating. Pecan waffle, a must try & the chorizo and eggs were great with the potatoes. We will definitely be back to try other items.

Found my official go-to breakfast spot, and it had me at first bite! So pleased to know they're located in Chino cuz it's not too far from where I live. Chyeahh! Food and service-- AMAZING!! Unlike most places that serve breakfast until certain times, Guasti always serves! I love the idea of having breakfast anytime of the day, especially when its as delicious as it's cooked here in BIG SERVINGS. Plus, the cost is friendly! *thumbs up Too bad they dont stay open later or late or FOREVER. Doesn't really matter.. but it'd be nice! ;D haha

This place had good reviews and a large crowd waiting outside. So I decided to try this place being one of the only mom and pops diners in this area of Chino. I was not that impressed, the food was average. Portion sizes are huge, be prepared to share with someone unless you are a big eater. I would have done that if I had known. I knew the pancakes were large, but the skillets did not look large. My skillet was the Guasti a mixture of meats and veggies over hash browns. The skillet did not have much flavor and the hash browns were burnt. My boyfriends omelette was much tastier and he oredered the home fries they were not burnt. Another tip is their dishes are old and have water scum. Overall, this is a place that is good for sharing large portions, but this seems to be their focus and not the quality of there food.

Location: Industrial area of chino across a lumberyard. Today marks the second time I have been here and the first time was too long ago to even mention. Came on a Sunday which means super busy. There was a greeter at the door and the staff was organized in getting everyone seated and orders being taken. Quantity and pricing is impeccable. I got a skillet enough for two people. Everything comes out huge but priced very reasonable. $10.00 was average pricing My skillet was delicious and my coffee was never empty. It's loud and bustling but customer service was still on point! Thank you guasti for a great breakfast!!!

This place is a really nice spot to go to for breakfast/brunch with a group of friends and loved ones. It's got that family vibe, and I've thoroughly enjoyed myself every single time I've gone. The service is great; most of the servers are older women and they're so sweet and kind. This is a weird thing about me but I love being called pet names by my servers (LOL makes me feel special) and they were so nice and kept calling me sweetheart hahaha. Today, they forgot my biscuits and gravy and were really quick about getting it to me so that was nice! I usually order corned beef hash and eggs or one of their skillets. Both are so delicious. Their biscuits and gravy are mediocre; if you've gone to Flo's, their biscuits and gravy are kind of unbeatable, but Guasti's is fine. Their pancakes are HUGE. I'm talking medium pizza sized. But as big as they are, they're pretty average tasting; reminds me of pancakes from Denny's or anywhere else. Nothing too grand. You can tell most of the time was spent on cooking large pancakes rather than working on the quality of their batter. Plus they don't offer chocolate chip pancakes like wtf. Another con for me is that it's cash only; it's 2015 folks--time to accept credit/debit cards! Other than that, I do enjoy my visits here and I always have a good time! Great family place.

I give it a 4 star just because a few years ago one of the big old ladies was rude but other than that everyone is polite & food is great.

Alright. I've been living most of my life in Chino and didn't even know this place existed until recently. Came by here because my friends raved about guasti's. For a Saturday, it was pretty darn packed! Parking is not really practical tbh, a bunch of cars were racked up and parked bumper to bumper because of the lack of parking. When you walk in, no one really greets you but there is a lady that stands at a podium asking how big your group is. We got seated shortly -- about a 2-3 minute wait. The place itself is a lot bigger than I pictured or would've imagined. It kind of snakes into several big large white rooms. We were a party of six so we were seated towards the back. As soon as we were seated we were greeted by our waitress. She wasn't that nice in my opinion. She came around two times because one of my friends wasn't ready to order. We decided to split our check 4 ways and our waitress was super rude to one of my friends. One of my friends wasn't quite ready to order but the waitress told her she had to order "NOW" because she was on the same check as her boyfriend and muttered some rude words to her. I get it, you're busy. But there's no reason you should be rude to customers just because they're not ready to order. Oh, but it gets worse. We get our orders one or two at a time but for some reason almost ALL of our orders were messed up. HOW? Our waitress wrote down everything and still got about 90% of our order wrong and was flustered when she realized. What was the point of writing our order down in the first place? I had ordered a chorizo burrito ($8-9) and when it was brought out I asked which burrito was what because another waitress had come out with two burritos. She replied, "I dont know." Uh, you dont know? How the heck am I SUPPOSED to know then? The same thing happened when some of our platters came out. We would ask which one it is they wouldn't know. UHH? How do you not know?! Clearly lack of training, care and service. The food itself was mediocre. Although the portions were HUUUGE it didn't really matter to me because no matter how big the portions are the food itself should be good don't cha think? Nawp, not at this place. Mediocre food but huge portions to make up for it, in my opinion. For my burrito it was VERY underseasoned. It was like they altogether forgot the salt. My bf ordered a hobo skillet platter. It was okay. The seasoning was better but not by much. At the end of our meal, we were just sitting around waiting for our waitress to come around to pick up our cash/cards. Oh but of course, no surprise she NEVER came around. We went up to the front to pay and it was the most ridiculous thing ever. We waited about 15-20 minutes to pay because people were just standing everywhere and walking around everywhere & the lady at the cash register was taking literally 10-15 minutes PER PERSON that paid. I dont understand why it took SO long to pay for one thing. Overall? I'd probably never come back. The service was terrible and the waitress looked like she didn't give a damn about anything & the food was just mediocre & overpriced. TL;DR -- Service SUCKS. No clue about their menu. Portions are big but the seasoning is underwhelming. Mediocre food at best. Unorganized & lack of care. Parking sucks.

One of the best places for Breakfast in Chino! And definitely bring your appetite in addition to cash as that is all they take, but conveniently they provide an ATM on premises, but be ready to shell out a $2.10 processing fee to use it. The food is excellent, hot and fast right out to your table... huge portion sizes, unless you are training as a professional eating contest contestant, you will not leave hungry. Pancakes as big as your head, or in the case of my two kids, as big as their body. I think if that is all we had ordered, between the three of us, we might have been able to take it down, but it would have given us a ruin for our money! The pancakes plate comes with 2 pancakes, there is only one in the photo we took, 2 pieces of sausage or bacon, and 2 eggs. Of course I had to be different so I went with the Ham steak, and yes, it is a steak! If you are a fan of Bone in Ham, then this is the meal for you... a ham steak (I think it was at least 2 lbs worth) 3 eggs, hash browns or home fries, and then options on more carbs... go for broke I say, and get the biscuits & gravy. You will leave full and ready for food coma! Oh by the way, if you have extra mugs, bring them and donate them to Guasti's... that is their signature coffee shtick... no coffee mugs are alike... really like home! At least my home anyway... Sorry, no Martha Stuart-esque fancy table setting or center pieces here... just good down home stick to your ribs (and very likely your hips) cookin!

If you want a huge breakfast come here. The service is so friendly. The food is quite good as breakfast go. Absolutely large pancakes and size portions. Very delicious. The location could use a upgrade. It is a very old but sturdy building. Carpet is like the old portables from elementary school. It is cash only and I highly recommend bringing your own travel mug for coffee. The mugs are a bit dirty. The price is a little high for diner style breakfast but it pays for the portions. I will very likely return but maybe after the direct deposit and when the household coffers are fat.

I found Guasti restaurant on yelp and knew I found a great place when the parking lot was full and the restaurant packed. We were greeted right away and seated within minutes. The server was extremely knowledgable and explained the menu and was patient with us. The breakfast was AMAZING nothing short of a mouth watering dish. I had the Guasti skillet, biscuits and gravy and the pancakes were HUGE! The restrooms were clean and the dining area was spotless. The only downfall is cash only. I will be back to try to conquer breakfast again

Great service... Servers always happy. Gigantic pancakes, that are so delicious. They only take cash so be ready but they have ATM inside. Inside and Outside seating. You can go by yourself or the whole town. Plenty of space for everyone. Kids and elder friendly. It's my to go to... Breakfast lunch and dinner.

Five star for service and food. Come hungry, their short stack consist of two 10-12inch pancakes. Blueberry was a hit. They have egg whites...to lessen the guilt My guy could not even finish one pancake! But don't bring your plastics...they only accept cash. Believe me...if you say "Fine, I'll eat elsewhere that accepts credit cards."...they won't bat an eye, this place is always packed.

I've been here now a few times so I think it's time for a review. This place has amazing breakfast. They have something for EVERYBODY! Both times I've gotten the Hobo Skillet. It's so damn good, the Ortega Chiles make it that much better! I've always had the chorizo and eggs. Best chorizo I've ever had. Great flavor and not full of grease. This place is for sure my go to spot when I'm craving breakfast. Reminder: they only take CASH... But they do have an ATM on site!

    (5)
  • Amber P.

First time here! & WOW! The portions are huge! & the prices are so cheap. The Polish Skillet was to die for & the French Toast was so good. Our waitress was the sweetest & brought us free biscuits & gravy because our food took a little longer than SHE liked. The service here is AMAZING! Only thing I'd say needs to change is CASH ONLY - but they do have an ATM inside.

Not sure why this place got 4 stars. Ordered a bacon n cheese omelette with home fries. It was disgusting. Way too much grease!! Coffee was too weak. Hot chocolate was good. Waitress was nice Pancake was ok, just tasted like bread. I won't be back. I'm still burping up all of that grease! Yuck

  • Keity G.

Great breakfast place! Good prices and good food overall. One big thing to remember is CASH ONLY! I had their corn beef hash meal and it was good but I probably wouldn't get it again. I would DEFINITELY get their biscuits and gravy! The gravy had a good consistency (not too watery but not chunky either, aside from the pieces of sausage it had) and the biscuits tasted fresh. Their skillet breakfast meals are also very delicious and jam packed with a variety of tasty flavors! I didn't get the pancakes but for one HUGE cake its only like 6$ so i think it is well worth it. One meal can definitely feed two people. The restaurant was clean and not too crazy busy, which is astonishing because I went on Father's Day. I thought we were going to have to wait an hour and my friends and I only waited like about 20 minutes. The services was good too. The waitress brought out an order of biscuits and gravy instead of toast like my friend had ordered and she quickly realized it and gave him the biscuits and gravy on the house. I think it would be a great place to go with the family!

  • Emily S.

Wow! I like this place. They give huge portions. You can easily share a plate between two people. Even their pancakes are big. Bigger than your head. Maybe it's as big as both of our heads combined. LOL Service was fine. And there is plenty of parking for this place. At least when we got there early in the morning. It's a huge cafe and this place gets a lot of customers so I can see their parking lot getting full quick despite it's size. Their omelettes were good and their sausages were good. Just a side of sausage gave you four sausages. :) BTW: things to note are that this place is cash only. Also your whole party must be present for them to seat you. I'm a fan!

  • John R.

After reading the mostly positive reviews, my wife and I had breakfast at Guasti's. I'm a straight forward bacon & eggs kinda guy, so if they screw that up...I won't be back!!! Their coffee was good, service was great by our server Yolanda, and the rest was above average!!! They serve you three eggs, so when over - medium eggs are cooked in the normal pan, it leaves room for error because the pan is a liitle small for three eggs. They're a cash only establishment, and have an ATM onsite. We'll be going back...this time on the Harley for a nice little ride!!!

This is my second visit to Guasti's and the the food has always been nothing than great! If you visit on the weekdays, you usually can find a spot to park easily. Come on the weekend, and you most likely will have to wait in a line for someone to leave. Regardless of your parking situation, the wait has really never been more than 5 - 10 minutes tops. There's a waiting area inside and out, however if you're outside, make sure not to go too far and listen closely for your name because the hostess will only go to the door to call you. Once seated you'll be given menus where your mind can run wild. If you think the menu is great, wait till you get your food... The portions are enormous. I always get the Meatlovers Skillet which comes with 4 eggs on a bed of hash browns or home fries, with your choice of toast, muffin or homemade biscuits and gravy. Depending if I'm sharing or not, then I'll also get the Patty Melt on Rye to split. If you're unsure what to get, these two will not disappoint! Soft drinks are on tap and are the only thing that can be refilled for free. As far as my review for the waitresses; it really depends on who you get. The first time I was here my waitress was very attentative, she came back more times than necessary just to make sure that we were happy with our food, the service was great and there wasn't anything else we needed. The second time I came, the waitress took forever to come to our table. She dropped off some menus pretty quick and came back with our drinks, however the return time to check back with us to see if we needed any assistance and if we were ready to order was very long... Not to mention checking back on us if we needed anything else after dropping off our food. We asked for ranch, and she didn't come back for about 10 minutes... And she forgot part of our order. Overall for the food I'd give it a 4 . Portions are great and it always is on point! The service however can be better, depending on who you get.

If you are hungry with a hungover, go here. If you expect it to be good, avoid it. Do yourself a favor and eat something healthier that will actually taste good somewhere else. I likely want to copy and paste a lot of the negative reviews because they are very true. You will be disappointed unless you are not a very picky eater.

WOW! For the price they sure do know how to feed you... We had 4 people, and only ordered 2 entrees (though, mind you we are all 4 college students). My friends' got the chocolate chip pancake short stack. I can tell you now, the two pancakes were bigger than all 4 of our heads stacked side by side. I got a chorizo breakfast burrito and shared with my friend. I only ate half (and I didn't eat the tortilla) and it was so good, so much food for me. The house salsa was very delicious as well. Highly recommended. Apparently it is busy on Sunday mornings after church.

Some of the worst food and worst service I've ever had. Came on a Thursday at 9:30am, they were at half capacity, hostess was rude, my friend and I looked at each other and she says "are you ready or not?" There was NO one else waiting, why the rush. When we sat down the waitress offered coffee, we asked if they had flavored creamer, she said no, so we said water was fine. She rolled her eyes and walked away. The menu is small, and three eggs, hashbrowns & toast for $8.79 is a little steep. Eggs were rubbery, hashbrowns were burnt, toast was toast, nothing special. Yes they give large portions...of mediocre food. Curiosity appeased, won't return.

(pancake review) I first came here for the big pancakes that I saw on the sign you could see on central and I got big pancakes alright at least they looked like they were. One is all any person really needs but the sad thing was they were raw, not fully cooked through that the only parts that were edible happened to be the away from the center of the pancake. This place has a reputation for big portions and I am not sure what everything else is like but if you're going out for pancakes save yourself the trouble I had and go to ihop or flo's. Service was ok nothing special and this is a cash only.

Great Breakfast place!! Very busy, however they were able to seat us and take our order right away. My son and I shared a skillet with biscuits gravy. The meals are served on a large platter. It was more than enough food for two and it got a big thumbs up from us both. The only thing you have to remember when dining at Guasti's is to bring cash. They do not take credit cards.

Stopped by here after Sunday Mass and it was very crowded. Fortunately there is deceivingly more space so we got seated quickly. Portion Sizes are big, we got the country fried steak breakfast. Waitresses are kind and attentive, would definitely try them again

Don't waste your time. The pancakes are dry. The place is old and looks like it's from the 1970's.

First off, this place seemed to be a good cafe to have brunch and a couple drinks. Strongly deceived even though this restaurant is has a background story of a 'vineyard.' Food is NOT 'home made' and 'fresh squeezed' OJ tastes like tropicana. Also to mention, there was debris in my water once given to me. My boyfriend and I ordered the country fried steak and eggs to share. It wasn't the best but edible. They forgot about our side of biscuit and gravy. So we had to remind them. When we got our bill, we were shocked at what they charged us.. They charged us $1.00 for asking for an extra plate so we can share? What the heck? I mean, I'm not frugal but that's an interesting charge. I'm giving them two stars because they took it off our bill. OH.. Can't forget to mention.. CASH ONLY. Done. Never going back again. *no pictures because not worth taking it*

We went to this place on memorial day for breakfast and man, we came here just before the crowd! Food is super big and we have no problem with it. Kids are impressed by the famous giant pancake and we could only finish half even sharing. My Guasti omelette is huge and tasty. The price is right and fair for the crazy portion!! We got to come back again!

Was not impressed. Dirty coffee cups, home style potatoes undercooked and the biscuits and gravy was tasteless. The eggs were undercooked too. The server was good.

Do not confuse generosity with good food. If you like waddling like a duck after an obscenely huge breakfast, this is your place. The food is simply average. We keep trying this place, many times over the decades, both while it was in its old location, and now in this newer spot. I keep reminding myself that I won't come back. But we do....in hopes. The regular pancakes are the size of hubcaps. But they don't taste special. I ordered a pumpkin pancake this time around and it was not as big, but big enough to cover a small serving platter. While it was good, it was not great (Keno's Restaurant in Anaheim Hills is the place for a great tasting one, both regular batter or pumpkin). But I did like that they serve it with real butter. Under $5 for one. The eggs were messed up...we ordered them over medium and one was broken and way over cooked. The biscuits and gravy were ok, not bad. The gravy is a super thick sausage gravy but no meat chunks. The pork chops (there were two) were thin and overcooked, even after we specified not overcooking them. Nothing special either. We requested fruit instead of potatoes and got a bowl of not-so-ripe melons and 3 grapes. $11.49 Skipped the coffee. I know from previous visits, this is a cheap diner coffee, not one I like. Over priced, underwhelming. I am too picky.

Big big food. Interesting building. Used to be in old town Gausti. Breakfast place- Strangely big doesn't always mean great Standard Denny's Style food just too much of it. Pancakes are large so share. We just get 1 order. (5 eggs) and split it.

Brunchies! Out in the middle of nowhere pretty much, this joint is serving a whole lotta food. Looking for a little bit of an adventure day for some huge portion sized breakfast, then this is your place! Not much else to see here but the food, but pretty good place to come check out. My GO TO pick here is the home style potatoes, crunchy bite, soft center, filled with flavor, goes with everything you eat. Depending on how hungry I am, sometimes I just get plain old scrambled eggs and bacon with my potatoes and if I'm a bit more hungry I'm here for an omelette :) This place is known for their huuuuge huge huuuuge pancakes, so big that if you don't finish your food, they give you a pizza box to take it to go! I have yet to try it, but one day I will, so share of course :) Depending on what time you go, it can get busy and the parking can get chaotic. Happy eats, loves! ^_^

Went in and tried something else on the menu today. I got the breakfast burrito with bacon and sausage. I've had breakfast burritos at other places hoping I would get a bite or a taste of the sausage. This place doesn't hold back every bite was a mouthful of bacon and sausage the salsa has a good kick to it. I'm happy with the price you definitely get your money's worth for the portions of food they give you

  • Jessica H.

I love Guasti Cafe. Their food is reasonably priced and their portions are ginormous. You order one pancake and it is falling off the plate in all directions. The servers are also really great about coming by to refill your coffee or water regularly without you having to flag them down. They have a nice outdoor seating area as well. Guasti Cafe used to be located in an old building in Ontario. There were warning signs all over that stated that if there was an earthquake, the building could just crumble. The atmosphere at the old location was great and they had 25 cent coffee! The food is still just as good at the Chino location, though, and I still recommend this place to anyone looking for a good breakfast spot. Make sure you come hungry. Oh, one little tip, this place used to only accept cash and you'd have to use an ATM they had inside the restaurant that charged you a fee. I haven't been for quite some time, though.

Breakfast lovers, take note: Guasti's is a must try. The place is huge to cater to the many customers they see on the daily. The service is friendly and they're knowledgeable about their menu. They talk to you like family, which may or may not be a good thing for some people... But for me it's pretty cool. Condiments are put together on your table like a buffet. Jams on jams on jams! They have the usual strawberry, grape, etc. as well as some uncommon ones, like apple cinnamon. This place is a family hot spot. Have a party/family of 10+? Don't worry, they got a table for your Brady Bunch. Now to the food. They have weekday specials displayed on each table. Everyday is a different special each pricing at $6.99. I took a look at them once, twice and once again, but decided to order on the regular menu. They have some good deals though. But if you want the GUASTI'S experience, go ahead and order the following: Pancake. All you need is ONE to feel 2-3 people. Don't believe me? You'll be taking home the leftovers in a pizza box. Just sayin. The size of their pancakes are comparable to the rim of a car (a Toyota Corolla, if you wanna get technical here, geez). It is mounted with a generous amount of buttah (mo' buttah, mo' bettah am I riyyyght!?). ***When I went here they had a special for a chocolate chip pancake. Best believe I got that (instead of the regular pancake).*** "Everything In The Kitchen Sink" skillet. This feeds 2-3 (hungry) people. It's basically a huge scramble with just about everything you want/need for breakfast. I believe they use four eggs for this. Cheese, bell peppers, ground beef, bacon, sausage, onions, and some other stuff. All of this is served on a huge plate atop a bed of potatoes. So. Good. Comes with your choice of toast, oatmeal, or biscuits and gravy. These two items cost about $14. Not to bad right? Parking is a bit tight. I haven't been there at a time when the parking lot is full (which I'm sure happens often) soooo you're on your own there. Try Guasti's out for yourself whenever you're in Chino or around the area. They're only open for breakfast and lunch so don't be late! As I left the restaurant my waitress said to me, "merry Christmas! And don't stay out on the streets on New Years!" She sounds like my mom lol. Gotta love family joints like this.

I'm not a fan of this place. I really wanted to be, but felt their breakfast was pretty bland tasting. I'm a pancake lover, so we had to try this giant pancake that they advertise. Yes the pancakes are HUGE. But they liked yummy pancake taste and had a rubbery texture. My husband had the corned beef hash Nothing spectacular or memorable. Service was pretty slow as well.

1 of my stars goes to the food and that's only because the other 4 go to my server Rosa. Planing on dropping by? Request her, everyone is friendly and each have their way of working but this lady goes that extra mile to make you feel like family. Grate name intro and grate food recommendation.

I absolutely love this place!!! Huge portions, low prices, GREAT coffee! And although they are really busy in the morning, food is served promptly and service is always good. They're known for their humongous pancakes, one pancake is enough for two (maybe three) people. Amazing!

this place is ridiculous! The portions are crazy big but soo good!!! I always go in thinking imma fukk shit up but after four spoonfuls I'm done!!! It's a great place to go with friends and enjoy good food. The wait can take forever sometime but it's worth the wait. Prices are decent and the service is typically good. Make you are hungry when u go and enjoy!!

Oh sweet baby Jesus!! Excellent!!!! A friend had told me about this place and we thought we would give it a try this morning. Went to Yelp and read many reviews. First and foremost - bring cash as they do not accept credit cards (they do have an on site ATM) - we came prepared. Hubby ordered the Hobo Skillet /biscuits and gravy and me the Guasti Skillet (no mushrooms) w/ sourdough toast. We got our meal in less than 10 minutes and it was all we expected and more. Very delish and lots of leftovers! !! Our server was attentive and my coffee never got cold. We got there early before the rush. We will certainly be coming back

I ordered kids pancake. I have never been there before, so I didn't know these pancakes were way bigger than my kids' heads. They came out and my kids could not eat more than a couple of bites. I told server if I'd known, then I would have ordered 1 to share. She told me that I should tell the server I am new when I go to a restaurant.!? What? she should have read the situation and told me the size. Also, my potatoes were way way under cooked. Then to top it all off...they only accept cash. I would not go back.

First off, this place is CASH ONLY so be prepared. The portions are huge and the price for the amount of food is fair. I had the ABC omelette with home fries and biscuits with gravy it was delicious. My husband had the egg Benedict and he pretty much inhaled it haha. The pancakes are big enough to share between 2-3 people. The orange juice taste fresh squeezes and is so good. The staff is alright the hostess wasn't very good at seating people she kept putting parties of two at long tables made for large parties. The waitress with short red hair re-sat us which was nice she was on point.

Good food, festive and cozy. Our waitress was great. Helpful provided suggestions and told us her favorite dishes. Was on top of things and filled the coffee every time it went half empty without having to ask. Chorizo is very tasty as is the eggs, bacon, cinammon toast. Will come back when I am hungry for breakfast.

First and last time here. Judging from the reviews I guess it's hit or miss? This is more of the place that you come for quantity not quality. Our server was nice but the hostess was dismissive. Disappointed to say the least.

Wow everything here taste exactly as it would at home if not, better. I've been trying a lot of breakfast joints lately and this is by far the best one. Portions ate generous and service is very welcoming. A little home away from home it feels. Thanks for the great hospitality and food.

This review is longggg overdue, but hey! Better late than never! Another review isn't necessary for this place, but what the heck. Here we go! So I've lived in Chino all my life and have come to Guasti's countless times. The best TIP I can give you is to go on weekday mornings and never on Sundays. But if you do come on Sundays, be wary of the overly crowded (and small) parking lot, and the hoards of families coming in from church to eat their breakfast/brunch. "Home style" is very much the right term for this place. Although it's no five-star Fleming's, the picnic-plaid table covers, wooden-style chairs, and sunlight-welcoming windows give a home-y touch to this place. It's great for dates, families, and friends to catch up and eat! Service: Five stars ALWAYS! I have not once had or have seen a table get bad service. All the waiters and waitresses have good spirits and a big smile on their face to greet you throughout your visit. I've come here at the buttcrack of dawn, and they still treat you with warm welcomes. (And if it's your birthday, you're in for a real treat ;) xoxo!) Food: Four stars. Their meats always seem to be over-done, which is a bummer, and their humongous pancakes taste flour-y, so even if they're home if the giant pancakes, I don't really recommend it. It comes with two pancakes, each the size of a tire hubcap. Not worth it. However, I do recommend their hashbrowns, potatoes, and any of their skillets. SOOOO GOOD and soooo worth the price. Everything is about $10+/- and sharing is a definite.

HUGE PORTIONS, good food, great service. We got our food in less than 10minutes. Parking can be hard on some days, but this place is worth it.

Came in on a Friday morning. Wasn't busy at all, but our server was amazing. She answered my questions honestly and for me being a server for 10 years it's great to have that. She always kept up with our coffees. Only reason I'm putting a four is because it seemed that my Fiance`s French Toast wasn't cooked all the way on some parts of it. Chicken Fried Steak wasn't too bad either.

So one morning, I decided to try this place. I ordered the crab omelette. It comes with hash brown and two pieces of toast. The portions are huge & enough to feed a party of two. Although they use imitation crab meat, it was still tasty. Friendly staff with an attentive waitress. The have a private parking lot in the rear, along with the entrance to the restaurant. I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. Stay tuned....

Bring your own coffee mug and leave it behind Quick tip " come starving " the servings are exaggeratedly big I dig the idea of a big plate with lots of good food but like always I never get to finish it which makes me feel guilty nevertheless I do enjoy coming here for a hearty meal!!!!

When you think of brunch and huge portions, you think of Guasti. The location of this place is strange. It's on its own lot sandwiched between homes and a business plaza. Parking is in the back. Prices here are extremely decent. Considering the portion sizes, I find the prices kind of a steal actually. You could feed 2 or more average eaters with one skillet plate! I don't know where the 25 cents (or whatever) coffee rumor started, but it's really $2.05 guys. I went with their Guasti Skillet ($9.79) that has a little of eveything and the size of the plate was just ridiculous. I shared with my mom and I felt like we barely made a dent on it. I should have ate something small before going there to get my stomach expanded... You have a choice between biscuits and gravy, or an english muffin. We got the biscuits and it was alright. Might not be for everyone. We also shared a blueberry pancake short stack ($7.29). It was just average. Didn't taste much of blueberry. We had leftovers for everything. Our waitress was excellent. She read my mind and brought us all waters along with the coffee without me having to ask. She was always smiling and was a huge joke-ster. Of course we gave her a generous tip. I would recommend any of their omelettes and skillets. You won't be disappointed. There are plenty of seating inside and outside. CASH ONLY.

First off....the place is HUGE. It's set up in kind of an old school style mission house. LOTS of space and table to accommodate a weekend crowd. They're known for their large portions and we didn't wanna go overboard, so we basically only ordered one breakfast item...the Guasti Skillet, along with a side of eggs and a single blueberry pancake. Let me tell you...we couldn't even finish that! Skillet had onions, mushrooms, different kinds of meats, hash browns, cheese, green peppers, and a whole lotta other stuff. The blueberry pancake was large...which we expected. Kinda disappointed about this one, because it didn't have a lot of blueberries. I basically felt like I ordered a plain pancake. Smells better than it tastes. Meehh...I've had better breakfast, but it's worth a visit if you're in the area.

This is one of my favorite breakfast places! The price is cheap and the portions are LARGE!! I love their omlette skillet with the Ortega chiles and potatoes. Definitely worth trying if you haven't.

How can you not love this place! Aside from the CASH ONLY policy! The food is great, and hearty, the pancakes are HUGE. My absolute favorite is the Guasti Omelet for breakfast, it's literally huge and enough to share with somebody and still be full! The staff is amazingly sweet and attentive, be prepared to wait a but if it's the weekend and close to the time church gets out (whatever time that is), but even at most you can get in pretty quickly and not break the bank.

Home of the big food. A place where the plates are platters. An experience that has created a new meaning for AYCE: All you canNOT eat. This is not a buffet, but holy cow it's kind of like that, so be sure to wear your stretchy waistband pants. A nice looking, Mediterranean style, single-story building is the new home of the recently relocated Guasti's. This is not in the high rent district, so don't expect a full Las Vegas WOW experience, but it seems to be a nice offering for locals. Featuring an outside patio is a great option on a tempered day, and inside, it's a coffee shop all-the-way. I'd love to see them remodel the inside with new tables and chairs, nice art, and spice up from the bland it currently is. The outside is much nicer than the inside. The menu is your standard American/Mexican breakfast and lunch fare, but don't pass up studying up and down the whiteboard for their 12-15 daily specials. It's quite massive and a popular place, you just might have a short wait for your table...as people try to swarm in during the somewhat limited hours, 6am-2pm(ish). Prices are terrific with nearly every dish at right around $10. My good friend and I shared 3 items, and had plenty to split-up and take home: 1. Guasti's Omelette - the size of a Fiat. 5 eggs, ground beef, cheese, sour cream...and I added ortega chile. MMmm...mmmm...I loved it. With a side of crispy hash browns, of equal size...it completely filled up the platter-sized plate. [leftovers!] 2. Eggs Benedict - we substituted veggies instead of the Canadian bacon. The cheesy hollandaise was wonderful, and a mix of spinach, red peppers, mushrooms, and onion atop of 2 perfectly cooked muffin and poached eggs was delicious. [the ben's is a daily special, and they completely customized it for us. Yay] 3. Pancake - 14-16" across, 1 cake will do ya. It was more than awesome, I would get this next time all by myself. It's that good. As far as breakfast goes for a coffee shop/cafe, this place is hard to beat. I'll be back, and I'm bringing an army. TIP: Cash only

Great for a breakfast date... I love the French toast and the home grown omelette, chorizo burrito, the breakfast burrito. The salsa is a + The waitresses are all pretty good some better than others but I've never had awful service here Down fall bring cash they don't accept credit cards...

Love this place this was our second trip here and it's great food and service. My boyfriend loves the chili and cheese omelette and I usually get friend toast but today tried the pecan waffles omg so good! The pancakes are great too and huge even for the kids my daughter was so surprised when it came out. Definitely worth a try! The only downside is the parking and it is CASH ONLY. They do have an atm inside for you to use but of course it has a fee of $2 :/

Ordered French toast expecting freshly cooked warm breakfast. Served cold French toast on which the butter never melted. It was like it had been cooked earlier and left in a cold chafing dish. Very noisy and crowded. Confusing layout when trying to find cashier. Parking is horrendous. Will not be back. Will go to Flo's instead.

So, finally, after about a month of lollygaggin, the bf and I have finally made our trek back to the gym again! Huzzah! I was absolutely starving afterward and was in need of a good breakfast. After some debating, we stumbled on Guasti's Homestyle Cafe. Pretty easy to find, cute little pueblo looking structure in the parking lot walking toward it. I was afraid it would be packed, being a Sunday morning, but I guess we beat the church crowd, yay. We walked in and were greeted and seated right away. In an attempt to control our way-out-of-hand-habit-of-over-ordering-all-the-time, we decided to split the polish skillet. Boyfriend had coffee and a water, I got OJ and a water. By the way, portions are HUMONGOUS. Comes with onions, bellpeppers, cheese, 4 eggs the way you like them, and either hashbrowns or home fries, along with your choice of toast or biscuits and gravy. Normally I'd opt for the b&g, but we were trying to be good, so we got sourdough toast. Being a huge runny yolk fan, we got the eggs over easy and decided to try the home fries. Didn't take too long for the food to come out. The skillet was pretty tasty. We had one bad potato (it was simultaneously undercooked and burned), a few other slices were slightly undercooked, also. I feel like they could've cooked the bellpeppers are bit longer, but that was alright. Definitely gave us enough sausage though, so no complaints there! About midway through our meal, some more customers came in and were seated by us. The norm for us is to order a waffle or pancake for dessert after breakfast (fatties, I know), and the table beside us ordered a chocolate chip pancake. It was gigantic and it smelled heavenly. We probably should've stopped at the skillet, but we HAD to order the pancake. To be more reasonable, we said we'd eat half the pancake and pack up the other half to bring home to his brother. Our server brought out a small pizza box. We cut it in half as not to tempt ourselves and packed up one half before we started eating it. Oh my, was it delicious! Chocolate chips throughout the entire pancake! Great batter, a nice ball of butter on top, and syrup already on the table! The combination of the sweet and salty was perfect. Service was okay--nothing spectacular--but they got the job done. There was a problem with the coffee, however. Server came around a few times for refills, but after the 3rd refill of the coffee, it tasted kind of burnt. Not really sure what that was all about but I was happy with my juice and water. Food was pretty good, give or take a few minor things. Nice atmosphere and a really good music selection. All in all, I would definitely come back, but maybe with a few more people. 3.5 stars--the couple of undercooked slices of potatoes got to me. Next time, I'd like to try the hasbrowns. By the way, they're cash only!

This breakfast location is the ultimate spot for breakfast. Their portions are LARGE with reasonable prices. Dine in is quite small and the parking is smaller & narrow to drive into. We had a funny & sweet server. Her name was Jackie! She had a spunky & bubbly personality & told my table, "anyone who can finish their plate gets a kiss on the cheek!" My sis-in-law finished her Chilaquiles plate & got her kiss lol. You get to order your breakfast plate w/a side of hash browns, home fries, or fruit along w/toast or biscuits & gravy all for around $10-12. The biscuits & gravy as a side dish was so good!

Hearty. It was a five minute wait when we arrived at 10:30am on a Sunday morning. Place was definitely buzzing and there were a lot of people so we were fortunate to get a table so quickly. Good timing, I guess. Got the Polish skillet, the cinnamon French toast swirl, and the veggie omelet with hash browns. Also got a cup of coffee. The food and coffee was okay. Notably, the portions were huge and hearty! You will definitely leave full and ready to take a nap.

    1. Cash only 2. Big portions 3. Tasty breakfast dishes on first visit 2nd visit-left w/o eating food was so bad. 4. variety of dishes 5. Bring/donate a coffee mug-no matching mugs here-kind of charming 6. Casual service-they act like they know you and that you're a friend, even if it is your first visit. 7. Won't seat you until your entire party arrives 8. Small parking lot.

Let's start by the fact they are cash only and have a very small sign to the right of the door. Then they happily tell you they have an ATM that comes with a $2.00 service charge on top of what your bank will charge you for using a non network ATM. So basically there $ 2.00 plus charge to your meal if you didn't bring cash. Next they have this fun thing where you can donate your old coffee from home and they use them. What not so fun is some of the cups are ones made in China that have been known to have lead. Others they use have minor chips. The hostess when you walk in is very polite. I had to wait for my party and she was willing to seat me. A+ When my party arrived we were seated and met by our server. The server was also very polite. We placed our orders and the wait for the food was limited. The server did a good job of keeping our drinks filled. This place is known for the large portions and they didn't disappoint. The pancakes were the size of a large plate and the omelets were just as big. It is just good home style breakfast place. The food was good and the prices weren't any lower then places that take credit cards like Denny's or Farmer Boys. I would go back again if I was in the area and had cash with me. I wouldn't pay the service fee again or go out of my way to get cash. If they accepted plastic debt or cc I would stop by more often. Enjoy.

This is my go-to weekend breakfast/brunch location. The breakfast food is amazing and great portion sizes. On most occasions I end up taking some home. This is truly a homestyle cafe. The servers area really friendly but want to move fast as it is usually pretty busy on the weekends.

omg the generosity of this place is amazing! you walk in and the server comes to your table with coffe! the cups are already placed on the table! so for someone like me I love that! since I dont have to wait crazy to get my coffee! ordered two orange juice too! its the real orange juice not the store bought one I think! tasted good and yummy! first impression of the place reminds me of a church or chapel! theres a cross right infront of the building and the building is huge! parking is easy but their restaurant sign is pretty small! four of us went with a child! thought 4 dish wasnt going to be enough so we ordered two more sides on the side! sat at the table that seats 6 people.. cour table was too small to fit all the food we ordered! got breakfast burrito, mmhmm, if you love potatoes you'll like their burrito! lot of hash brown inside! yummm! comes with salsa/hot sauce! makes the food taste yummier! also got their two pancake.. size was too crazy! the pancake was made perfect! I like my pancake to be a bit salty and theirs was the way I like it! hobo skillet... what can I say?? get it with their home potatoes! mmhmm mix it all up with ketchup and tabasco!! makes the food 100 times better! server recommended us the spinich and mushroom omelette with swiss cheese! I loved it but I think they put little too much spinach! got our omelette with hash brown! got sourdough and ordered scrambled egg and bacon on the side! we couldnt even finish one dish.. ended up walking out with four togo boxes packed with leftovers! think if its just two of three of you guys. two is definitely plenty food to share!

When I was a kid in the 90's this place was awwwwesome. But now it resides in beautiful Chino where all the servers bicker and fight across the restaurant while delivering rude and half-assed service. The food though was delicious.

My first experience with Guastis was two months ago. My family and I went there on a Sunday and the wait was 2 hrs so we decided to go elsewhere. Today (Friday) we went back and was seated right away. I was really excited to try this place because of all the great reviews. Wanted to see for myself what the two hour wait was about. This place was not bad but not that great either. They have huge and I mean humongous portions. I am more of a quality over quantity type of gal but I can see how the amount of food could appeal to some people. I had the guasti omelet which came with ground beef mushrooms cheese and sour cream. It was good and the home fries were ok. Some of the thicker ones were kinda raw but the seasoning was good. The meal also came with biscuits and gravy which were just not good at all. The gravy reminded me of warm glue with chunks of sausage in it. My bf got the chicken fried steak. The steak was pretty good but it too came with the glue gravy. Another thing that turned me off about this place was our server. She seemed really annoyed when I asked her if the oj was refillable lol. Anyways, I got cherry coke and she never asked to refill that either. The host was also kind of unfriendly. He had this sad face on like he wished he was at Denny's. Im probably never gonna come here again. I'm just glad we didn't stay the first time because I would have been mad af if I had to wait 2 hrs for this mediocre food.

This family breakfast place quenches the thirst for all breakfast foods in gigantic proportions...quite literally. There is a variety of popular breakfast favorites (giant pancakes, huge skillets, delicious omelets, etc.) as well as sandwiches and burgers. My family and I always leave full, satisfied, and probably enough leftovers to recreate the breakfast experience the next day. Sharing food is recommended! Overall, a good place for large crowds in a warm familial environment. P.s. This place is cash only.

I loved coming here when I lived in Chino, they give you huge portions and all are delicious. It gets pretty busy on the weekends I went on a weekday morning and it was perfect, gives you the southern comfort feeling. It's adorable, they give you cute little coffee cups and the people are just so nice and friendly. The place is very clean I ordered a pancake and it was bigger than I expected, bigger than my head, and an omlette (amazing) the only bad thing about Guasti Homestyle Cafe I would say is the fact that they only take cash :[

Ok, let me start by saying that we have frequented this place because we love breakfast places and the portions are huge. My little famiy of 3 (me, hubby and toddler) have always shared an order of skillet and a short stack. We were always satisfied with our foodand the service that's why we always come back. Today was a different story though. Our server was not that pleasant and didn't smile at all. We ordered our usual skillet and a kid's meal. Of course we meant to share, everything was served and an extra plate was handed, so i asked for an extra one. The server then told me that the 1st extra plate was on her and if i needed another one, they charge for a dollar and so she asked me if i still wanted it. Of course I said yes because I need it then she just walked away. So I told my husband about it because I thought our server was kidding. When the bill came, I saw that they really charged for the plate. I got irritated because who charges for an extra plate?! I didnt bother to talk to them about it but it would've been nice if she explained why or at least told me that she wasn't kidding. Oh well lesson learned.

This place is amazing!!!!huge portions it's literally like 3 meals worth of food, and for the price it's amazing. It gets really bussy but even then I've only ever had a 15 min wait max. The hobo skillet with biscuits and gravy is my favorite at 10.59 it comes with 4 eggs ham sausage bacon onions bell pepper mushrooms tomato ortega chillis and cheese, hash browns or home fries and either toast,a muffin or biscuits and gravy!!!!!my daughter loves the kids pancake (two kids could share) with 2 sausage links.... I get the butter on the side because they give you an ice cream scoop of it yuck. The parking is terrible and they are cash only a pain the first time I went but now that I know I make sure to stop and get cash....they do have an atm but I hate the charge 2.50 plus what ever your bank charges you. Overall guasti is amazing and I would recommend it to any and everyone!!!!!

Uninspiring. Raw eggs and a sausage patty so overcooked it was hard. Hash browns were good as was the gravy. Inattentive service adds to the mediocre food quality. As mentioned by others, portion sizes are large, but I'd rather have quality over quantity.

This place has some good food with some even better and bigger portions!! Anything you order there is HUGE! The idea of used coffee cups is cool except when most of em are dirty, work on it. And some nice servers but some are too nice haha. Love the way you guys sing happy birthday! Makes me feel at home

We found this place one day that the avocado house was overcrowded and I'm so glad we did!! The portions, oh the portions!! Lol. We split the hobo skillet every time we go and we even have left overs! Their pancakes are huge. One will be more than enough for someone. I love all their coffee cups people donate. The last one I had was one from a national park in Australia. The cons are that they only take cash and service can sometimes be blah!! But the food is delicious.

Lots of old folks. Looks like a old cafeteria kinda. The waitress was patient, friendly and accommodating. I ordered the corned beef n hash with scrambled eggs and biscuits n gravy. All was good, the gravy to me didn't have that much flavor. My husband ordered the sausages with hash browns in 2 huge pancakes that he couldn't finish. I thought the pancake tasted doughy, my husband didn't agree with me. I prefer the hot cakes from johns across the street. Overall a good experience.

Food was on point as was the excellent service! We were seated right away no waiting at all. The parking lot is a bit small so patients and early arrival will give you a better chance to park. Thanks to the other yelpers we took cash so no problems. The portions are easily enough for two to share and still be full. Home style food that keeps ya full and happy all day would highly recommend this place for breakfast and lunch (all they serve) if you are in the area it doesn't disappoint.

I used to love this place when I was a kid at the old guasti location. Tried out the newer location & was so disappointed. Waitress was rude for no reason, food wasn't that great at all pancakes were chewy coffee was whatever. Definitely over priced. Realized it was same owner as corkys & we go there all the time & it was more expensive. No decor either which was super depressing. Parking lot is a nightmare. I won't be back not worth it.

Good place if you are really hungry! I got the famous pancakes, but they were really dense and heavy. I was hoping for fluffy pancakes. My husband got a chili verde omelette and he loved it. I want to go back and try other things, just don't get the pancakes unless you are planning to weigh yourself anytime within the next 30 years!

place is amazing breakfast is 100% service is always great... but the first time we came no one told us we needed to pay with cash and they do have an atm but it charges $3 to withdraw money so... come with cash!!! but whatever you order it will be fantastic!!! we never leave unhappy with our food my favorite is the breakfast burrito and my husband loves the hobo skillet with the whole potatoes!!! we though the two of us and our three kids could finish a stack of 3 giant pancakes but nope!!! next time 1 or two will be fine!!! big serving sizes for the price you pay! and cant wait to go again :)

We came here to try the breakfast as it always looked crowded. It is essentially an old school diner. I ordered the blueberry pancakes with sausage and eggs over easy. The pancakes were huge as advertised. I are only about 1/2 of one. The 2nd pancake I took home. The sausage was not very good, it was one large patty. The pancakes were your typical pancakes except for the size. Service was great, cash only. Considering the prices aren't cheap surprised they are cash only.

Their portions are absolutely worth the price, I was able to share a whole meal and still leave with a full stomach. The food is great home style quality..the only thing I did not like was that it was cash only but that may not be a bother to others. Overall it was a good experience.

This place is only for breakfast. I don't like leaving bad reviews on places, but I have never tasted such flavorless food. I have heard by friends and family so much about this place and their huge pancakes, that I needed to try. I was craving pancakes so I decided to come here the moment I took a bite of my pancake, it tasted as if I was eating plastic. I was really disappointed, then I moved on to my scrabbled eggs and they were really fluffy for some odd reason. Customer service was ok, they made us wait a few minutes even though the place was not really busy and they had a lot of empty tables. I'll reconsider giving this place another shot.

  • Diego T.

The food was excellent except the first server seemed like a sarcastic broad and didn't tell us that she was covering for another server. Besides, the second server who really did take care of us was super nice and suggested to go halfs on the potatoes and hashbrowns cuz i never had them before. Tons of food for a reasonable price. Can't wait to go back.

This is one if my favorite places to have breakfast when visiting family. You definitely get a lot for what you pay for! If I don't split my plate with someone, I usually end up bringing half of it home then hearing it up in the oven the next day. The staff are kind and quick, you never wait too long for your beverage or food and best of all never have to go hunting down a waiter like in some places. You never feel rushed outdated eating, because of course when you haven't seen family in a while you want to chit-chat before splitting up. I def recommend this place!!!

The breakfast was FABULOUS! I've been looking for a local homestyle breakfast place since I moved down here in 2008. Guasti's definitely meets the criteria. I'll be coming here whenever I need some homefries. They were affordable, comfortable, fast, delicious, and the servers were nice. I can't wait to try something else out next time we go!

This place has been a family favorite for many years. Since the days back when it used to be in Guasti in an old barn that has been knocked down for the sake of "progress". We were all very disappointed when they knocked it down and we thought we had lost it forever. One day while we were on our way to my son's soccer game at are Ayala Park we drive down Central Ave and see The Home Style Café. We were so happy we went there right after the game. That was a few years ago. Today we went with my two kids and my Dad. I almost always get the same thing, Bologna and eggs but they have so many great dishes. The Guasti omelette and the Eggs Benedict are really really good too. As everyone else has mentioned the portions here are huge. The pancakes are bigger than the plate. My bologna and eggs comes with three huge piece of bologna about a half-inch thick grilled to perfection. I was able to talk my kid into the eggs Benedict and we split our eggs Benedict and bologna and eggs. My daughter got the Polish sausage and eggs and it was fabulous to. This place can have a hour plus wait time sometimes but it's worth the wait. The servers are always busy but they're always very nice and they do a great job. A few years ago they only used to charge $.25 for a cup of coffee but they recently raised the price. I think it's around two dollars. That is a reasonable price of coffee anywhere you go today but some of us were used to $.25. Get over it!

The In-Laws were in town and wanted the wife and I to meet them at this diner. They always raved about how good this place was. I decided to go and have breakfast with them. The waitresses were really nice. And the location is nice too. I'm not a coffee drinker, so the $0.25 didn't really impress me. As I searched through their menu...the chili bowl grabbed my attention. When I first got it, I was kinda expecting a little more of a bigger plate...but after I took the first try...OMG! I FELL IN LOVE! This was the best chili I had ever had. I didn't even wanna share. I also 'freeloaded' off of everyones plate and I loved everything I tried. Bill did not hurt the wallet that bad either for the amount of food we got. The pancakes are HUGE! But they were not the best I've had. I highly recommend this location! I plan to return!

You will definitely leave with left-overs! When I go with my family we usually order 3-4 plates for 5-6 people and share and we still have some to spare! If you go on a weekend be prepared to wait, but it's worth it. Make sure you pick up some cash before you go! They do have an ATM there, but it will charge you. The waiters have always been nice and sometimes crack jokes whenever I have gone. I always take my friends at least once to try the enormous pancakes and they always make the mistake of ordering 2 when all they need is one. Check it out and see for yourself!

OMG that's all I can say. I ordered the Guasti skillet and oh boy I wasn't expecting this plate that serves upto 3 adults. my wife ordered the eggs with sausage and that could of fed another 2. We ordered 1 pancake for our 2 daughters and when the waitress brought it over it took up half of the table. It's the size of a medium or parge pizza, now I know why people were leaving with pizza boxes after paying. I will sure be back and be a regular on a monthly bases.

Do not do not do not go. First off, the whole atmosphere of the place is atrocious and the average weight of the crowd is 200lbs each atleast...I have never seen a more pitiful group of people...I mean seriously, feeding your kids the Knott's jelly as an appetizer? Realllllly??? Second off, the politicians outside and offering free nasty coffee in cheesy mismatched cups? No thanks! Next issue was the food....oh man the food. The GINORMOUS pancake they are infamous for, is just that...ginormous...not tasty, not a good consistency (last time I checked a cookbook, "rubbery" wasn't ever a description) and the Costco size high fructose, I mean pancake syrup was sick. Pancake syrup should never look like a freshly poured Guinness LOL. Next, we got this Guasti Skillet...which is supposed to be a melange of different b-fast items combined....um hello...pink tomatoes?? WTF? Lastly is the poor excuse for "biscuits and gravy"...they were cold and nasty - BLEH. I have never gotten a stomach ache SO fast from food...we had to rush home. And everything else I ate the rest of the day made me feel sick too thanks to this lovely breakfast. Also, there was this creepy ass kid sitting next to us who wouldn't stop staring at me....it was wiiiiierrrdddd LOL If I could give it ZERO stars I would....but I'll give it 1 star for trying and for the cheap prices and huge portions. I think it's about time for ME to open up a great b-fast diner in the Chino Hills/Chino area....hmmmm, what do you think?

  • Simon Y.

Dieters Beware! I have been a fan since 1995 of all three locations . This one in Chino is every bit as good as the one that used to be on Tippocanoe off the 10 and the previous location at the Guasti winery. Never a question as to what you will get here, great home cooked food and plenty of it. My favorite is the biscuits and gravy, a meal in itself but I always seem to think I can handle eggs and potatoes too. Always a mistake on my part, not that it's not damn good, but I actually try and finish . Yep, fasting a day in advance might be a good strategy with this place. Pancakes are some of the biggest I have ever seen and I understand they serve a great lunch too. Prices are also very reasonable. If you think you have a healthy appetite, then my friend this is the place for you.

A hidden gem for American food. After mass we usually go here and have a very satisfying breakfast. Ample serving size and very hearty meals no matter what you order.

As I was turning in to the parking lot, bf was like, "Where did you find out about this? Yelp?" How did he know? BF thought it looked like Arkansas, which I think is hilarious, especially since he's never been there. But I have to admit, it did remind me of some places I passed through in the great state of Tennessee. The owner is friendly, making sure to greet everyone, to take a moment to tap them on the shoulder and say hello. Personally, I really enjoyed the mismatched coffee mugs. It's just so quaint. (And mighty green if you think about it!) I had one of the special omelettes with mushroom, spinach, tomato, bacon! and swiss- and it was enormous! Luckily, I asked for fruit instead of potatoes, so I was able to get a sizable amount of omelette in me. They use frozen spinach rather than fresh which would bother me if they didn't drain the frozen spinach properly, but they did, so it was no huge problem. It actually get a more substantial amount of spinach into the omelette, so I'm a fan. Especially since it was not pricey or pretentious. You get what you pay for, and I was happy to pay for the amount of bacon in this baby. Wheat toast was good too, nice and chewy! Service here is unbeatable, and that's an understatement. Every waitress is super sweet, even if they do have a million and one things going on. Also important to note: they DO NOT act like some waitresses who feel that they are solely responsible for THEIR section. So if someone is out of THEIR section, they must wait fro THEIR waitress to get service. Anyone of them will help you with anything. Anyone of them will get you water. Anyone of them will greet you, talk to you, check on you and make sure you're okay. I'll be back.

Minus one star for Cash only! My parents convinced me and the bf to drive all the way to Chino to eat breakfast with them. Waking up at 5am to eat breakfast on a Sunday morning? Not my idea of complete and total fun. But I went anyway. I've been told about the HUGE pancakes and portions, but nothing can really explain it until you actually SEE it. And by God, everything was huge. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito, and ok, it was on the salty side... but omg, was it delish! The potatoes really did it for me. I'm totally looking forward to eating my leftovers, which, btw, is a rare occurrence. Our friend ordered the pancake, and wow, was it a pancake! And it's always nice when your bf gets the random coffee mug that says something about being a woman. The next time the old folks get a taste for Guasti Cafe, I will most definitely make sure I wake up at 5am again.

I work locally and attempt to try a new place for lunch once a week. And today I was lucky enough to choose this establishment. I placed my order over the phone and when I arrived me burrito was ready to go. The staff was very warm and I am excited to go back and dine in. My food was amazing. The burrito was GIANT and delicious. It was way to big for me so I shared with some of my co-workers. We are all excited to go back and discover what else this Chino GEM has to offer. This place is a must eat in my book.

altho just the pronunciation of this restauarant's name gives me the heeby jeebys (i seriously don't know why...guasti....maybe it sounds like grossy to me or something) the pancake the size of both of my butt cheeks does not. (k...that visual MIGHT give YOU the heeby jeebys...but it shouldn't cuz i work hard for that bum lemme tell you). i got the eggs, bacon and two pancake bfast to semi-share with my gay boyfriend joel who ordered an omelette for himself. i'm not kidding when i say this pancake was bigger than my ass. it was. we're eaters, too. i mean...i work that stuff off but i EAT. so...we eat as much as possible before needing to puke cuz we're OVERstuffed and there's still a good 8 pounds of pancake left over for our to go box. i can't imagine the amount of cooked batter they toss a day. POUNDS of it. i'll be back...it was amazing. also worth mentioning but not as large as my ass? the biscuits and gravy. mmmmm

Ok. I've read all the other reviews for Guasti and I can only say that their portions really are THAT big. BUT... it's not that super special that I'd go out of my way again to drive to Guasti's. My wife and I shared the Chile Verde Omelet. It came with a choice of side and we chose the biscuits and gravy. First the omelet was awesome. It was big, fluffy, cheesy, and topped with a good amount of Chile Verde. The tomatillo sauce was excellent and the pork was tender. That's about the best thing we had. The potatoes that come with the omelet were plentiful but more so because they wanted to get rid of them. They were so bland and not cooked very well. Just nothing to them.... like someone had peeled and chopped potatoes and threw them on the greasy griddle. The gravy on the biscuits were good but the biscuits were store bought and not very fluffy. Our friends had the chicken fried steak and french toast platter. The chicken fried steak was good but was swimming in a lake of gravy. The french toast was good but nothing to go drive out of your way. All in all it was a good experience to go to chino to try it out but Guasti's is more of a "if you're in the area" type restaurant.

This is the ultimate breakfast arena that has a casual family-friendly truckstop diner feel to it. If the 25 cent coffee doesn't attract you, their Flintstone-sized portions just might do the trick. My gf and I made the mistake of purchasing two separate breakfasts. I believe she got pancakes, sausage, and eggs...and I ordered an omelet w/ a side of biscuits and gravy. Not a good idea for just two chicks such as us. Their portions are ridiculous. We took doggy bags (yes, plural) home and the left overs lasted us til the next day...I suggest sharing, but if you are in the mood for a smorgasbord, their price to portion ratio will allow you to do so with little repercussions...Long story short: Lots of good food at good prices. Can't go wrong with that.

I started going to Guasti when I was a pup, and it was located by the airport, my family refers to it as "The Bologney" ... lovely enviroment, great pancakes, although my mom says not too eat anything bigger than your face!. Lots of food for a good price...delish!

Today while doing business at a nearby establishment, the owner recommended Guasti if we wanted a good meal. We couldn't have been more satisfied. We had no more taken our seats and the waitress was there with the coffee pot. They advertise "Home of the 25 cent coffee", but we opted for a cold drink instead. Our food arrived soon after ordering and, oh my gosh, it was HUGE. My husband was one happy camper because they had fried bologna and eggs. Three eggs to be exact, three huge pieces of bologna, homestyle potatos and biscuits and gravy. I had a patty melt and it was perfect and so hot I had to let it cool a bit before digging in. There was a gigantic pile of steak fries which you couldn't even make a dent in. They were hot and right out of the fryer with season salt sprinkled over the top. In addition to the non-matching coffee mugs, each table had a 64 oz. bottle of Mrs. Butterworth's Original Syrup. At least you wouldn't have to ask for more syrup. Each table also had a little tin box turned upside down. We had to ask what that was for and the waitress said it was for coffee creamer. No one was drinking coffee, so guess they didn't fill them until needed. Prices are comparable to other restaurants. I would have opted for smaller portions, but who am I to be that picky. I can hardly wait to go back. We're already talking about what we would order next time, but I know Mr. Perfect is still going to order the fried bologna and eggs.

This place is fun to eat at just merely for the size of the pancakes (1 is about the size of 5 regular sized pancakes), the history, and the fun mugs. It wasn't amazingly delicious - just A-OK. I really liked their hot chocolate though. It's a fun place to eat at with friends when you want somewhere wholesome.

If you're in the mood for a hearty breakfast, this is the place to go! I was also a fan of the original cafe located behind the Guasti Mansion. Although its location may be different, you can still find the same great tasting GIANT pancakes and reasonable prices. My favorite is the chicken fried steak and eggs meal. (I have this at every place that serves breakfast, so I consider myself somewhat of an expert.) The steak is seasoned well and good size, the meat is never chewy or dry. Their home fries are outstanding, I love the crispy outside and soft middle, they are fried to perfection! One thing I think could be improved is their country gravy. I'm a big fan of biscuits and gravy or the gravy over my steak, but this needs a little more flavor for my taste. When the gravy improves, it will have earned my last star!

Don't come here! ........unless you are hungry!!!!! The portions are huge and delicious!!! No pancakes are made bigger than at this cafe and the omelets are amazing! One suggestion....split meals or count on a doggie bag! My favorite breakfast place!

  • L W.

Good food. Huge servings. No way an average person would leave hungry. The pancakes especially are very large and pretty good. If you can even finish one! The reason I can't give 5 stars is they are cash only. Not very convenient in today's modern world.

One of the most horrible experience ever. Hash browns were burnt (black), I chomped on an egg shell in my skillet. When I called the manager over, all he did was remove my plate, didn't apologize or anything. I received my check my plate was on the bill. NEVER going back!

Strange set up as far as parking and entering and getting a table. You park behind and enter there. The restaurant is divided into many rooms. One area looks like you're entering the restrooms, but there are two more rooms back there - odd. Not a place to take a date, but definitely take your old lady. The food was very good. Biscuits and gravy were perfect. The waitress was down home friendly and when she offered salsa, I said "sure I'll try it." When she realized it was my first visit she brought me a taste of her favorite green chili and it was great! Exactly what you expect from a "homestyle" cafe. They're doing it right!

I've been here quite a few times, but decided to write a review this time based on my most recent experience. The biggest pro of this restaurant is the quantity of food you get for the price. However, there were a lot of things that happened on my recent visit that I needed to note on my review. Guasti's has a huge amount of seating, and we were seated right next to the bathroom. This was a little offensive, since it would have been nice to be seated somewhere with a view, or at least somewhere that wasn't next to the facilities. I ordered banana french toast and was expecting french toast with fresh bananas, and they were layered with banana pudding. Sure it was good, but more dessert like. My over medium eggs were over easy and water was pouring out. We also ordered an omelet which was tasty with home fries, but we specifically did not want meat. The waitress didn't tell us that sausage was in the gravy for the biscuits and gravy, but it wasn't a huge deal. When I went to pay, there was a huge line because the ATM was broken. The restaurant is cash only, so be prepared to have a debit card if you don't bring cash!

First time eating here! And I loved it!! Food was delicious, and service was great ! Enjoyed the home style feel of Guastis! Pancakes are huge! Big enough to share! I will be coming back with my family again! And donate a coffee mug :)

Used to go to the original restaurant that was in Guasti, California growing up. They have since moved to Chino and even though it's new location and ownership the food is just as good as it that was 30 some years ago. Even the gigantic pancakes! They are as big as a medium pizza. They are tasty, but no one can finish a plate of two! Makes the dogs happy though. All their plates come with hearty portions. Service is usually pretty good. They do get busy on the weekends for breakfast. They don't take credit or debit so bring cash! Their ATM their is a pricey fee.

The food is good, decent prices, I love that you never know what coffee cup you might get; except its probably not best idea to use the religious ones, I laughed about being an agnostic drinking out of a cup with scriptures but other might not. Usually we have friendly staff waiting on us except once when the hostess tried to seat my large husband and my self at a table where there wasn't even enough room for a child to sit, when we brought this to her attention she got pretty upset and and stormed off to set us at another table without saying a word to us. That was our only bad experience. It is still our #1 breakfast spot.

I can't tell you enough how much I love this place. I love classy restaurants where you can get fancy and what not, but I love this place for a nice, laid back, simple brunch with friends. It's my go-to place when I'm starving and probably one of my favorite restaurants ever. Next to Matsu's in Huntington Beach, Mes Amis in Chino Hills, and Boutega Louie in Los Angeles, this place is definitely at the top of my list. Historically, this place used to be a church mission or something and the design has some great character to it. I love the waiters, they're so casual and funny. They really make you feel like you're apart of their dysfunctional oddball family. The portions are extremely generous! Have you seen their pancakes? It's literally the size of a pizza! The to go box for your pancakes is, in fact, a pizza box! And they always have my coffee cup filled to the top without me asking, something I love! And I find it quite adorable that the coffee mugs don't match and that they're all donated. I wish it wasn't cash only and I wish the ATM they have wasn't one that charged an absurd amount just to use it, but whatever. I love this place.

This place is a classic. I've been going here for years. The food is always good. The service is not always the friendliest but it is always quick and to the point (which I'm totally fine with). But don't get me wrong, there are some lovely ladies that work there that are so nice and funny! The pancakes are massive. Most of the meals here can be easily shared between two to three people, and if you want it all for yourself, it makes great leftovers!!

I have been coming to Guasti for years(at the original location by the 10 as well) they have great food and great service. All of the employees treat you like family. This is our family meeting spot for breakfast on random Sundays. We also love to go her for breakfast on our birthdays.! They have big portions for great prices! You will probably have left overs that still a taste great heated up the next day. I hope this place is around for years so my family and I can continue to go here! FYI it's cash only, they have a stand alone ATM but there is a fee of course !

I've been coming to Guasti for many years and I will continue to come! The staff is always generous and attentive and I love that it's kid friendly. All of their breakfast stuff is great. Their home style potatoes and biscuit and gravy have become my favorite. Today I tried their pastrami sandwhich for the first time but it was too salty. I'll be sticking to their breakfast choices.

Eeehhh. My wife and I were a little disappointed. The place was packed on a Sunday morning which is usually a really good sign but.... The gravy was ok but the biscuits were old and dry and were cold in the center. We heard that the portions were large so we decided to split the banana stuffed French toast with eggs and bacon. Ten minutes later we were told they are out of bananas . So we got plain ones. The eggs and bacon were cooked just like any other diner in America and the French toast was average at best. The worst part was they were served with margarine not butter?? What restaurant does that

Awesome breakfast spot! Been here the last two consecutive Sundays after church with my dad and brother . We used to go to this spot when it was located in Ontario... So glad we were able to find it on Yelp. Since we remembered how huge the portions were , we split two dishes among the three of us... And we STILL have food to bring back home lol! Both times we got skillet dishes and the two pancake house combo. First visit we had the meat lovers skillet ( a bit salty but still good) second visit the hobo skillet...that was delicious! The pancakes are always on point... huge, fluffy and scrumptious! Coffee is really good here too... Will definitely come back and we'll be bringing mom and my boo!

This last Sunday was the second time I have been here and will be the last. This last time I ordered a Denver omelette, when it was served, the waitress walked away so fast I couldn't even ask her about the cheese. I had to flag her down, asked about the cheese; she stated there is no cheese on this omelette. WTF!!! Who the hell serves an omelettewith no cheese, never heard of such a thing? She asked if I would like cheese, so I said yes. She then walked around for the next 5 minutes holding my plate in one hand while she was refilling coffee, tea, bringing straws to other tables, talking to other customers, brought someone a check. I'm like wtf is this. She finally brings my plate back with so little cheese I could have counted the shreds of cheese across the top. This was the visit I had to flag down another waitress and ask for a condiment as my waitress was helping another table, then walked around the other way so she wouldn't pass my table. She saw me speaking to the other waitress and that's when she came over. She brought back what I asked for, dropped the check and never was seen again. Of course I was charged extra for the cheese. When she saw us getting ready to go, she finally asked if we would like coffee and tea refills. Humm not now, 15 minutes ago would have been nice. The older lady at the front counter could have cared less about the service as well. Food is pretty good, service is complete shit. I'll stick to Brandon's Dinner from now on.

The food was great! Large portions and delish :) they only accept cash which is not a deal breaker but a little annoying since I never have cash on hand. The waitresses are nice enough but the few times I've been its busy so they are sorta rushed and not so accessible for a refill.

Quality over quantity any-day that's all I have to say. If you like huge portions and don't care about the quality of your food, then this is the right place for you! As soon as I walked in I had a weird feeling about this place. But I decided to give it a chance. Well not to my surprise, my first instinct about this place was correct. Starts off with rude waiters, to almost getting a cup of coffee dropped on my mother. After all these shenanigans, I still decided to stay. When these were clear signs to just leave right there and then. But of course, silly me, stayed. If you work in a restaurant, you should treat customers with respect. To be honest, I feel like everyone who got hired at this place just turned in an application and got hired off of that. Cause obviously these waiters have no people skills and think it's okay to disrespect. Here's a note for you waiters: if I just sat down at the table, it should be obvious that I'm not going to know what I am going to order yet. Then they continue rushing every three minutes. And when I still haven't decided what I want, she walks away, mumbles, and rolls her eyes. (tall short hair red head) At this point, I was all hyped and annoyed. Then to get dirty looks from all the waiters, I was ready to fight them. BRING IT BITCHES!!!!

What a nice surprise. Not sure I would have chosen on my own. My sister suggested we eat there and it did not disappoint. The menu offered multiple yummy options. I ate the green chile omelet, my sister the all meat omelet. We ordered one of their over sized pancake which 4 of us could not finish. The service was good and very pleasant atmosphere, kid friendly. Will definitely eat there again.

Went here Sunday Morning 7-7-13. Helping a relative move, we ended up in Chino hills with a couple hours to spare. We had a coupon in the Entertainment guide for $9.00 off. Seated quickly. Coffee mugs are like from home all different sizes and patterns. We each ordered a skillet breakfast... Also chose Biscuits and gravy instead of toast. HUGE PORTIONS..... We could have shared One skillet dish. It was so good. The waitress was the best we ever had. So attentive! Her name was Corey.... She is a gem...Great experience. Would love to go again! I highly recommend.

The Good: The staff is very friendly, the service is pretty quick, the portions are gigantic and can easily be shared, the food is very tasty and comforting. I shared the giant ass pancake, an amazingly delicious daily special omelet (bacon, spinach, mushroom), with home style potatoes (they gave us this dish on accident) and hash browns! It was extremely filling and enjoyable! The Bad: Cash only. The Ugly: Nothing ugly. The Verdict: Come here if you want good food to share with your friends or you feel like having a great home cooked meal. I look forward to coming back and sharing more dishes with my friends.

Worst customer service I've ever dealt with! They advertise home of the fifty cent coffee. Not so! They should however advertise that a tall glass of O.J. is FOUR dollars! Outrageous! Besides that I got a hair in my food (hey it happens) so I tell my waitress quietly and she quickly grabs my plate and heads to the kitchen. Not her fault but she didn't ask me whether I wanted another of what I had ordered, something else, or to just take it off the bill which the latter is what I preferred. After all that got squared away there was still a discrepancy on the bill which I ended up arguing with the unapologetic, rude, and abrasive manager. Never again! Why didn't I just go to Flo's?! Pros: n/a Cons: Bad attitudes, cash only, and dirty dishes and flatware.

This place is phenomenal. First off the service is great. Our server was helpful, considerate, and super attentive. She was probably the best server I've ever had--too bad I forgot her name. I ordered an omelette with home fries and biscuits and gravy and my boyfriend ordered blueberry pancakes. The portions are not meant for one person. I think my meal alone could have fed 3 people. So, you get to take some of this yummy food home, because it is yummy. The omelette was amazing. My boyfriend let me try his blueberry pancakes and wow so yummy.

The atmosphere is probably the best thing about this place. I've been coming here for years and now that I think about it, the food served here is not that special. If you're amazed by huge pancakes and big portions of food, then by all means, come here! The food here is whatever. Good, but nothing out of the ordinary. It's like a Denny's or IHOP. I've had simple breakfast foods but with a twist at better places. Parking is horrible if you come here on a busy day. But this is definitely a place you'd want to take a guest visiting Chino. It's definitely well-known in the community and it's definitely worth a try.

Big plates of food. I've gone here off and on for years. I always use my entertainment book discounts. Today I tried to use the phone app for that and it generated an error in their restaurant. I showed the management and showed them my accompanying cards and they said there was nothing they could do. I get home and check and it shows I can get the discount just by showing the card. So if you plan on going here, be sure to cut out the coupon because they won't honor anything else. Also bring cash because they don't take credit cards. Very annoyed.

Yah, Im a fan. Despite the negative ratings we dined in for breakfast. Our food was great. The waitress was friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and had a sense of urgency (which I loved). Our coffees came out quick and in mixed matched mugs that added an extra touch of home to the experience. I order the hobo skillet over shredded hash browns with a side of gravy n biscuits. It wasn't long before the food came out hot and huge! Portions big enough to share. My skillet was loaded with the ingredients and the addition of the home made salsa pulls it all together. The biscuits were fresh and smothered in sausage gravy. A must try if you have not already. My only negative would be that this place is CASH ONLY. Other than that this place is clean, fast, and friendly.

Great local diner. Best spot for breakfast. Have been here for breakfast a few times when visiting friends that live nearby. Why would you come to Chino and not stop by? LOL. I haven't tried anything here I didn't like here yet. However that being said, as much as I love pancakes (especially when it's as large if not larger than your plate) I'm not the biggest fan of their pancakes. They do taste good but they are very thick, not doughy and not fluffy but lacks a sweet flavor to it. Not sure exactly what it is I'm missing from it but can't say they would be on my top 5 pancake spots quite yet lol. I will still order 1 (not more please lol) when I go but since we are on a break now, I try to see other breakfast options here and there lol. Best hash brown, bacon and toast. They toast it all just right. Biscuits and gravy and good as well. The coffee is ok. Service is hit or miss here as well. I've been here before and got fast service and other times (when its swamped), we get neglected a bit. They are always very nice though. FYI, try to go early to eat. Peak time is always after 9am - 11-ish am on weekends. So if you don't mind waiting for a long time avoid this time. Also, don't forget to bring CASH. They have a handy dandy ATM in the lobby but you'll save on fees if you just stop at your own bank before coming in. Be weary of parking as well. It's a small lot with a lot of hungry people trying to park!

Place was bigger than I expected. They have outdoor seating too so you can bring your pet and enjoy the weather. Ordered the hobo scramble because it had a bunch of ingredients including mushrooms, ham, bacon, and sausage And home fries + the gravy biscuits on the side. THIS IS HUUUUGE. Definitely enough to split between two people but we didn't know that so we also split a philly cheese steak. It was good but when I come back ill try another item + breakfast dish.

Breakfast is usually good, pancakes are big but I had better else where. Overall it's a good place to eat.

Really great food and caring (though busy) waitresses. They give huge portions so be ready to share it or take home left overs. The biscuits and gravy is not to be missed! Our favorites are: Eggs Benedict, Chorizo plate, or an omelet. Happy eating!

Not impressed. I only came here because my original breakfast destination was closed for the day. The "JUST OKAY"quality of food isn't worthy of all the trouble you go through to park, long wait to get a table, and long wait for your food to be prepared. Added an extra star just because the waitress was nice...ish.

This place has the one of the biggest pancakes that I've ever seen! The pancake was bigger than my head. My friend and I shared one blueberry pancake, an omelette and biscuits & gravy. It was a lot of food and we had to take some home. I'd recommend getting just one cake of pancake and sharing it unless you are craving a lot of pancakes. We ordered the special omelette that they had and it was filled with spinach, bacon, tomatoes, and mushroom. It was the best thing that we ate there. The omelette came with a choice of potatoes or hashbrowns. We ordered hashbrown, but the accidently gave us potatoes instead. So, the waitress gave us hashbrowns in addition. Don't get the potatoes because it was kind of dry. The hashbrowns are better. The biscuits & gravy was good enough. Waitress was very friendly. The place has a lot of room and tables. Good place for groups. It kind of reminds me of a a breakfast/brunch place in the Big Bear with old fashioned chairs and red-checkered table cloths. The mugs they use are a collection of random mugs that you have at home from acquiring free mugs over the years. It's home-y. Cons: CASH ONLY. Sucks because when we got there, we saw the sign and had to go to bank atm and come back. They do have an atm machine inside but you have to pay a transaction fee.

First time here prices were reasonable and the food portion is more than enough.we received our food fast the waitress was nice.and the food was delicious.the only reason it's 4 out of 5 stars is because it's cash only.for the amount of business they do They should really consider being more accommodating by installing a credit card/ATM machine.

Pumpkin pancakes... Sooooooo delicious!! Sweet and huge!! Server said next time try it without syrup since it's sweet but use powdered sugar and butter. Will do! Sausage patties... Homemade and juicy!! Sausage links... Very peppery. Homemade too. It's ok. I loved the patties better. Biscuits and gravy... Uses the sausage links so gravy is a bit spiced. It's ok. Flo's (at Chino Airport) was better. Service... Great ladies!! Everyone was so kind! And kept my coffee cup full.

So this place is a bit confusing aside from the cow manure that reeks the air around you, a constant 360 degree angle around you.. at first since we parked by an orange tree, i thought it was the smell of rotten fruit, but when we started to walk away it was still lingering so yeah, very unpleasant when your about to have breakfast and especially an unpleasant feeling when walking out stuffed!!!! Ugh! aside from that, the entrance is at the rear, NOT at the front.. we were a bit confused cause they had about three doors before we saw the correct door, a fellow worker had to point us to it. i dont understand why they only have one back door open when they have a welcoming front porch/entrance. the food here was pretty decent. the pancakes, IVE HAD BETTER! THE SIZE WAS A Nice Concept but the taste was firm and compact, chewy for a pancake. it wasn't fluffy or soft or anything! im used to receiving warm syrup brought to my table upon arrival at my regular bfast joint in Yorba Linda, this place has syrup just sitting on the table in an oversized clear ketchup squirt bottle, (just to give you an idea) the portions are HUGE + overwhelming! i had to sigh a few times every other bite, and so did the couple dining close to us! LOL well, at least the ladies were! the inside seems a bit run down and could use some redecorating, maybe even some seasonal decor would be nice (xmas IS approaching soon), it didnt feel warm and cozy, atmosphere was very cold and glum. My friend told me the mugs were the best part, but i really dont see anything special about them, they are just mugs they got at yard sales, pretty unsanitary it looks! the POTATOES were the best part, i am a HUGE potato Gal, so if there is any restaurant that can make me a good potato than im sold! i like them, hash browns could be more fresh, my parents used to own a breakfast joint so i have some experience at a how these types of places make stuff, usually they make a wad of them, save it to the side, when someone orders it, they take a portion slap it on the grill to make it warm for less than a minute and voila, its on ur plate!! i could tell by how quickly it came out and how it wasn't hot. it was less than warm. more like room temperature! and... they were too stringy but i liked the country fried potato's better.. this place is okay, i will try what else they got to offer next! prepare yourself, walking out of here sick-full then smelling that cow shiz is not the Biz! CASH ONLY.

We came across this place on a drive from LA to Palm Springs. Knowing that these out of the way places consistently deliver on flavor we began searching through Yelp. We arrived around 9:30 on a Saturday and the place was packed. This is typically a good sign. We were sat very quickly and our server was extremely friendly. We both decided on the corn beef hash and eggs. You get the choice of hash browns or breakfast potatoes and we both went with the hash browns. The total wait was only about 10 minutes which I was surprised at considering the occupancy rate at the time. The food was very good and considering the amount of food being delivered to the tables we were not the only ones that thought so. While I am not from the area I will be recommending or possibly stopping by on my next road trip. As mentioned this is cash only...so get some cash before showing up :)

Ass kicking breakfast. The pancakes are the size of a manhole cover.I unfortunately ordered a scramble with everything and a side of pancakes. The portions are huge and delicious. My friend ordered the ham and eggs, big slab of ham with three eggs, hash browns that where crispy on top and toast. The service was fast and efficient, pricing fair and quality of food very good.

  • John C.

I'll confirm what others have said: 1. Expect wait times on weekends. 2. Portions are huge. If you have kids, don't bother ordering for them. They can share with you, it'll be more than enough. 3. An order of pancakes is in fact the size of a pizza in diameter.

I liked the original location much better. That place had character and better food. This place doesn't have much character but they still serve ginormous pancakes. Yes, they are huge... and size does matter, but so does taste and they aren't really anything special as far as pancakes go. I tried the Banana Cream Cheese French Toast Combo special this morning for breakfast and it was delicious! Great French Toast and the eggs and potatoes were good too. More of a normal size compared to the gigantic pancakes they serve! The place gets busy on the weekends and the parking lot sucks!!! If you aren't lucky in finding a space you might find yourself parked in the back alley. CASH ONLY........... which sucks! The tables near the women's bathroom suck too because it is a HIGH traffic zone. Never seen so many people go back and forth to the bathroom. At least 50 while we ate our breakfast. That was kinda gross. Omelettes are made with 5 eggs....... that's a whole lotta egg.

I've been coming here for ages! They are most famous for their very, very large pancakes that not even two people can finish. My boyfriend and I order one order for both of us and we still cant finish it, so good. The only thing is that they only accept cash, and it cold be a little pricey for what you order. Other than that we really like this place =)

Before I start, this place ONLY ACCEPTS CASH. (Boo.) -and- Don't order the bacon, it tastes like the smell of raw chicken meat. I dunno what they do to it, but it's straight up rancid. There were three(3) of us in the party. That fact will be important for later. I ordered the pancakes. Huge, fluffy, hot, sweet, and delicious. These were good. Josh ordered "The Meatlovers Skillet." Packed with tasty everything (meat, eggs, cheese,) and holy crap, these homestyle potatoes were excellent! Make sure to order those. Mike ordered the Beefeater sandwich. Which, he said was mighty tasty. Packed with roast beef. We're done eating, have our check, and walk up to the register. Since there are 3 of us (remember that, from the beginning?) we're each going to pay for our own food. Start the film!: (Talking to cashier) Josh "Ok, so, mine was $13." ::goes to hand lady $13:: B*tchy British Lady: I'm sorry. That's not how we do things around here. Josh: "What? No, no, I'm paying for my share of the check, and then after you take that out, Mike is paying for the rest." B*tchy British Lady: I understand what you're saying. We cant do that here. Just because you SAY your meal was $13, doesn't mean it actually WAS $13. Josh & Mike & Me: ::speechless:: Mike: Ok... well, can you give me two $10s for this $20, so I can give Josh change, and then I'll just pay the whole thing? B*tchy British Lady: "No. He has to pay for what he ordered, and so on..." Mike: Ok whatever just do it however you want. So she types in Josh's order. His total? $12.93 B*tchy British Lady: "See? I saved you seven cents." Then she calculates Mike's and my order, tells him the total, and he pays the rest. EXACTLY HOW WE WERE GOING TO PAY BEFORE. SHE DID NOTHING DIFFERENTLY EXCEPT SPEND 10 MINUTES WASTING OUR TIME WITH HER BITCHING. Mike tosses the money on the counter and tells her to keep the change for tip, and we walk out. That little situation was what we were left with, upon leaving Guasti Homestyle Cafe, and none of us want to go back. What's sad is that it wasn't even a language barrier issue. It was just an old stubborn lady who, instead of listening, kept squawking AT us, and ended up doing the exact.same.thing we were trying to explain to her. Rude, waste of time, and annoying. Buh-bye Guasti.

I've been here twice and food and service are great. The omelette is huge and don't even try to eat the pancakes by yourself. Huge portions and great ham and cheese omelette. Get here early cause it gets very busy.

The portion sizes are so amazing for the price. The food is also really good! I've told so many people about this place and each person has had nothing but great things to say about it. I get the best service every time I go there. Besides it being cash only, which isn't a big deal because they have an ATM there for your convenience anyway, this place is hands down one of the best restaurants I've been to for breakfast overall (i.e. service, quantity, quality, etc).

The first time experience here is more deserving of the 4 stars. The server we had was VERY sweet and made good recommendations. The country chicken here was good, but the pancakes were WOW-sized. The oversized pancakes literally overflowed off of the already-giant plates. We should have shared an entree and the giant pancakes because there was no way we could have finished two entrees and two pancakes. I would highly recommend this spot for a fun experience and decent breakfast foods.

  • Melissa S.

Just ok. Provides a comfortable, casual breakfast diner with large portions. The food is really just ok though, nothing that really impressed me or would bring me back. The pancakes were large but just pretty tasteless and the syrup was cheap. Service was great and everyone was super friendly. It's a little pricey for the quality though and the cash only policy is a little inconvenient.

  • Angela A.

**WARNING** Please wear your stretchy pants and baggy shirts if you are planning to eat here. If you are health conscious then don't eat here. But if you must, I highly recommend you share your plate. Because unless you are famished, high, or glutenous then there is no way you can finish one plate by yourself. If you do, then congratulations because you now have a food baby. Portions are hefty. The pancakes alone is the size of a Pizza Hut medium-sized pizza. Omelette are made with 3 eggs along with toppings, hash browns, and biscuits and gravy. Food is heavy! Food here is down-home, comfort, american classics. This joint has a lot of fans and so there is a bit of a wait especially around brunch time during weekends. For some reason, I felt like I was warped into the Mid-West. Eating here again? Nah...I can get the same satisfaction from Denny's or IHOP and i don't have to wait so long.

Guasti's doesn't serve quite like it used to. I ate at the mansion in Ontario years ago and decided to try the new location. The food had very large portions, but was very ... ehhh. My wife ordered an omelette with avocados, and they weren't very ripe. I had some biscuits and gravy, which were so-so. The hash browns were pretty good, and overall the meal was a good deal. Bad touch: I received dirty silverware. Ew. Guasti's is still a good place to recover from a hangover or to satisfy the munchies. Please stick with basics, such as pancakes, french toast, eggs, and bacon for the best experience. I don't believe Guasti's can deliver more sophisticated dishes done right.

Pancakes were a bit too big.. I was thinking it almost was too big to eat. Good thing I didn't order them! I got the Breakfast Burrito. (o: It was yummy without being too salty, good meld of textures and flavors. It's good, but I think this is definitely an average breakfast burrito. Oh yeah, it also seems to be a restaurant that took over an old church. They did have lots of stalls in the bathrooms which is nice. (o:

Another CASH only bfast joint that misses the 5 stars by one. So for Guasti's they get a solid 4 stars from me. 4 stars bc this place is huge! And was jammed packed at 9:30am on a Saturday. They keep it simple and serve only bfast and lunch. 6am-3pm daily. Our waitress was sweet and fast and food is good and comes out even faster and the prices are right. There was so much what I call "propaganda" (creamers, hot sauce, jellies, sugars) on the table I knew I would love this place. Food was good and portions were HUGE! Dad and I each went for an omelet. Dad went for the Guasti (bc if they put their name on it, it must be good) which had ham, mushrooms, cheese and was stuffed with sour cream. Dad got his with home fries and toast. His omelet was good but he thought that it was a tad bit salty. I went for the Ham and Cheese omelet with crispy hash browns and of course biscuits and gravy. My omelet was good and hash browns were perfectly crispy. Biscuits and gravy were good but not the best I have had. But we both really enjoyed their ham. It had this nice smokey flavor that added a little extra jazz to our omelets. Good food, fast service and good prices makes this place a good choice and I will return. Have to return bc I want to try their huge fluffy pancakes!

Ok so the food is great and generous portions and that's the only reason I give 3 stars. The service is not real great they don't do any substitutions and I think they need to be more accommodating. Pancake batter is not expensive add an extra buck and give the customer what they want

This place is a gem. Parking can be tight so be prepared! This place has the feel of a family business that has stayed in the family for generations. The staff feels like they've all worked their for years. This is down home quality cooking. Portions are HUGE and the price is reasonable. I can't recall a time where I haven't taken food home because there is just no way to eat it all. I know some of my friends would like this place a lot. The staff, they are fun. Usually quick witted and what you'd expect from a place like this.

  • Matt M.

I used to love this place at their original location. The atmosphere was perfect, coffee was .25, the food was good & comforting, and the staff was friendly. You felt like you went back in time 50 years. Unfortunately, the new location has zero charm and the coffee is now $2.95. Yikes!! The food was still good and the staff was the same, but sadly the restaurant has lost all of its ambiance. I looked past the inconvenience of not taking credit cards at the old place, but now it's just a big annoyance!!!

Size does matter... (taste doesn't) Took my family here on Mother's Day, of course there was a wait but it wasn't to bad. Wife order the pancake and it was large. Honestly it was all for show, the taste was very bland. I order Steak and Eggs, not usually a big meat person but wanted to try it. Should've order a salad instead. The steak tasted like leather (really). The biggest downside was the "cash only" policy. Yes, they have an atm inside (now I know why it's "cash only".) We're in the 21st century, digital cash is the way to go (credit and debit card). Maybe next time Denny, would've been a better choice.

my first time here, my bf dragged me outta bed at 8am and brought me here. when we got to Guasti's, there was one other party, when we left, the main dining room was filled. the restaurant is huge and has a good 3 to 4 decently sized rooms. the waitress is very hospitable and really good at running the cafe single-handedly. the corned beef hash here is good, but a little salty. the meat lover's skillet was superb and hefty! our second time here, we knew better, so we just ordered the guasti skillet and one ginormous pancake. one cake is probably equivalent to a stack at denny's/IHOP. It sounds like not much, but we brought home leftovers, and the meal cost us $15. will be back for more delicious, generously portioned, and cheap food :)

After a great night as a bridesmaid at a wedding, I crashed at a local hotel and woke up to that breakfast craving. Went to Guasti's. Glad I got there around 8:30AM 'cause the spot fills up quick! As I passed by each table I noticed that the portions are GIGANTOR. Got the Guasti's skillet... Literally everything and the kitchen sink... alongside was biscuits and gravy and I tried their pancake. Apparently what they're famous for, says the waitress...If that's a wikipedia fact then that may call for an edit: the skillet was way better, and the pancake was no bueno. The skillet was huge! We had it for breakfast, took the leftovers, and ate them for Sunday breakfast AND Monday breakfast. That's all you need, really. Pancake was a waste of $5. PERIOD.

If you are REALLY hungry and REALLY hungover, then you have got to come in for breakfast!! This is the type of place where the waitresses call you hun or sweety, are very friendly and make you feel right at home. Everything was super quick, drinks were filled quickly and food was brought out ASAP. Definitely two thumbs up on service. The food is devastatingly awesome and the portions are huge!!! I normally like to get skillets at every place i go to for breakfast and this time was no different. When I saw the size of the skillet I was scared and didn't know where to start!! I didn't get to finish it all, especially due to the two cups of coffee and plate of biscuits and gravy i had earlier which I might add were pretty good as well. Come here if you want good down home cooking with friendly service!!!!

Bring your appetite & a buddy because their portions are huge! We came on a friday morning and it wasn't too busy. Started with a coffee and my friend got OJ, both of which were really fresh. We each got the guasti omelette ($8.49) with mushrooms, cheese, sour cream, and choice of ham or ground beef. I got the ham and my friend got it with ground beef. It was pretty good, but I preferred the ham. The ground beef was kinda dry and tasted weird in the omelette. The meal also came with choice of potatoes (homestyle or hasbrowns) and toast (sliced or biscuits&gravy). I got the homestyle potatoes which were sauteed potato slices that were good. My friend got the hashbrowns which I liked more than my potato style. =p Of course, we both got biscuits&gravy. The biscuit itself was good but I found the gravy a little too peppery for my liking. Since we knew their pancakes were big, we decided to share one. It wasn't big, it was GINORMOUS! The cake($3.99) itself was thick but very moist. Overall we went home with tons of boxes. The remainding portion of our pancake barely fit in their to-go pizza box they give you. LOL Service was so friendly. We got called every pet name you could think of from sweetie, gorgeous, honey, etc. When our waitress brought out our food she even offered a kiss on the cheek if any of us finished our food! None of us did, but we got one anyway for trying. HAHA! My advice share everything, not just the pancake. Oh yeah & bring cash! =)

All I can say is, this place has pancakes on steroids! One pancake can probably feed at least 2-3 people. But the pancakes are definitely delicious, and probably the best pancakes I've ever had. If you go on weekdays, they have weekday specials.

Amazing portions. Leonard W kept on raving about this place and its portions so finally one day decided to go check it out with him. We got there around 1pm and the wait was about 30 minutes, which is quite amazing since the place is huge. I got lost just looking for the bathroom. I decided to try the special scramble, which was spicy sausage, jalapenos, and other good veggies. It is huge. Not as spicy as I imagined but when you add some of their salsa, the heat can definitely creep up on you. It's hearty, filling, and enough for 2 meals. Guatsi scramble is good another option and seems to be a regular for many of the other lunch patrons there. Tried a little bit of the veggie omelet. Again, it's huge but since I'm not a huge omelet fan, I can't imagine myself eating even half of it :P We also got a short stack of pancakes to share and yea like everybody says, it's enormous. We orginally wanted a tall stack but our waitress warned us so we went for the short. I'm glad we listened. The pancakes are fluffy and with all the syrup, spread available on the table for you to use, it's fun trying out different things to go with the pancakes. Servie was a little slow for us that day but she was nice. Overall, it's a great place if you can eat a lot and/or enjoy hearty breakfast food. Next time definitely will try the burgers. Much more manageable for me in terms of portions and that fried egg burger looks amazing!

I'm on a low carb diet and ordered an omelette. Instead of potatoes and toast, I asked if I could have a couple slices of avocado. They said no. I asked what the side choices were and all were carbs. So I asked to leave them off. They brought my omelette cold and I had to send it back to be nuked. By the time I got it back my family was 1/2 way done with their breakfast. I took two bites and my son pulls a giant long gray hair out if his pumpkin pancake. We all lost our appetites. Told the Manager and he brings my son new food, ummmm no. We don't want to eat the food now, all of our stomachs are turning. I couldn't even eat mine I had waited 45 minutes for. The manager was not apologetic at all. He acted like we were a bother. We won't be back, there are to many good breakfast places around here like Flos or Cockadoodle.

if you're in the area and want to eat comfort-food/breakfast like a KiNG or a fatass, then come on down- this is the place for you!!! Proportions are HUGE- like so much i wanted to yakk afterwards. HAHA sorry TMI. Pancakes bigger than the size of my face, eggs and hashbrowns and cheesy goodness piled high on a plate. The decor is ugly and the structure is weird- it used to be a church or something? The waitress sucked and never came back to check on our drinks and took forever to give us our check. BLAH. food is good, though so I give it average- 3 stars.

Came here for brunch after consulting Yelp ;) The ambiance is pretty homey with traditional American breakfast. We ordered 3 breakfast items for 3 adults and 2 kids and it was way too much food! We had to bring home like half the food! That pancake is as big as the platter! When you go, make sure to share, or you WILL have leftovers. I ordered the bacon, avocado, swiss omelet with hash browns & it was delish! The bacon is crispy & the eggs were perfect. For the price, it was definitely worth it. The pancakes were huge!! 3 of us didn't even finish 1 pancake! The service was about average. I'd come back if I was in the neighborhood, but would like to visit some others in the area too. I did see some patio seating, but we sat inside. Tip: Cash Only

I ate the "Guasti Homestyle Cafe" in Chino, CA on 8/4/2011. It was my first time there. They are famous for their generous portions and it's true. I had "The Guasti Omelette" (Ham or Ground Beef, Cheese Mushrooms & Sour Cream) for $8.49. It came with Homestyle Potatoes and a choice of Toast or Biscuits & Gravy. Good food and good service. The restaurant has a unique history. Secondo Guasti (1859-1927) was born in Asti, Italy and came to Los Angeles in 1878. He eventually started the "company town" of Guasti which was the original location of this restaurant and not far away. The town of Guasti (almost a ghost town today), not the restaurant, was used in filming the movie "Seabiscuit".

I had a ridiculous craving for pancakes - so of course I had to drag my sister here. We ended up splitting one pancake and one french toast and it was awesome. If only because the pieces were so big. The service was meh, and the thing that really sucked was that it's cash only. And I never carry cash. I'll go back. But only for the pancakes!!!!

This place is nothing to rave about. The staff was friendly but that's the only positive thing. Food came out cold. Told the waitress and she just put in the microwave. Food is very mediocre. No parking, and only cash, who doesn't take credit or debit these days.

I really likes this place they have good food. The pancakes are HUGE. The omelets where pretty good I got the mushroom with cheese and salsa it's was delicious . Defiantly going back. Reason for the four stars they only take cash and it can get pretty expensive.

Pancakes the size of my face times 5!!! Strolled in here for brunch one time after hearing about this pancake craze. Waiters were smiley and called you cute names like "honey" and "dear." Made you feel like their own kids! Ordering convo went something like this... Me: We'll have the Guasti omelette, 4 biscuits and gravy, the avocado, bacon, cheese omelette, and one pancake. Mister: Biscuits and gravy are cut in halves. You sure you don't want 2? Me: Okay, only two please. Mister: You guys must be hungry. Me: Yep sure are! *non-nonchalantly laughed ....15-20 minutes later Omelets, biscuits and "the cake" (as they called it) came out and OH MAN!! A perfect breakfast feast for a family of 8 and not 3 people! We obviously came back with to-go boxes. The food was amazing and definitely worth the prices. The humongo pancake had theperfect fluffiness and tasted great with strawberry jam. Overall, I had a blast trying to eat that thing! Came back to Guasti's again for my bday last month, shared one omelette and ate a good 3/4 of "the cake." MAJOR improvement! Tips: Bring your biggest appetite! Cash only!

GIANT pancakes. I came here after church one morning, and the ex-girlfriend wanted a side of ham to substitute the meat that came with the deal. We couldn't do it, so I ordered the ham on the side. She ended up not eating any. -___- I hope she doesn't see this. The ham was a good leftover side, though. Bottomline: I personally don't think the pancakes were that good, but it's so massive! It's also cash only, and it took a long time for me to pay because the cashier went off somewhere without telling the other people in line where she was going.

3.5 stars. Yelp really needs to have the 'half' star stuff! Everything is served in big portions. EVERYTHING. My friend & I shared a meal, because before coming here, we looked at pictures & realized how big everything was. We ordered the Guasti skillet, which had everything in the world. Eggs, potatoes, ground pork (I think...), mushrooms, onions, bacon, cheese, toast (they have a variety of bread to choose from) & there was probably more. It was pretty good! It doesn't come off as appetizing in pictures, but it was definitely satisfying. There was a certain point where I couldn't eat anymore, so my friend continued eating.. HAHA. My friend tried eating three pancakes. The pancake was bigger than all of our faces combined. It was huuuuge! He ended up finishing two, but when he ordered it, the lady was like, "Hah, you'll be sorry." HAHAHAH. My other friend ordered one pancake & she only finished half of it.. barely. I tried a little bit & it's soooo fluffy! But I'd definitely get sick of it, since it was huge. Wouldn't suggest going with a big group. We went with 7 people & it wasn't too bad, but if it's busy, I doubt there'd be room for a lot of people. Definitely a place to try!

Yum Yum Yum. I dont really like Pancakes so I got French Toast but only took 1 bite because the bday boy my hubby got the Pancakes and ohhhh man they melt in your melt in you mouth. Not only are they huge, they are fluffy and tasty the best butter flavor. I thought because they were so big they would be thin NOT. We went in with a group of 7 and it took only 5 minutes to seat us. Our waitress was great and down to earth. It was his bday so they sang to him they gave him strawberries with whipped cream. The whipped cream tasted homemade. YUM It would be good for families those 2 Pancakes can feed 4 for sure...

Yet again, my pancake was very under cooked and the service was lousy. Few things are bigger food turn-offs than an under cooked pancake that has the texture of a wet sock. Came in with my 2 month old daughter and the grouchy old hostess (who I am pretty sure is unable to smile) didn't even offer us a high chair or anything to place her and the car seat into. I don't plan on coming back anymore.

For the sake of me I couldn't figure out why this place only has three and a half stars. The service was awesome, our waitress was polite and funny. We took a while to decide what to order and she was patient with us. They were also kind enough to recommend that we don't gets a 3 stack pancake along with our skillet because we weren't going to finish it. Their portions were astronomical! I recommend people to share their skillets omelette etc. We were full at the end, the food was delicious, great portions, very very cheap considering the portion size, and friendly staff. You're going to be gassy the whole day so try not to eat it before you go to a show or something.

ever had a tire sized pancake? No seriously!? Have only ever been to the original location, though my gal Angela K. says that they have moved recently. I can tell you that the coffee mugs are a trip, because no two are alike in the whole place. The trick to the pancakes by the way, instead of having syrup spill all over the table, is to cut a whole in the center and then pour the syrup in said hole. Voila! Instant syrup reservoir! The grits are from scratch, not quick grits - YUM! There is a difference you yanks! Even the baby likes their pancakes, and she is a picky dough eater. ;)

Homestyle Cafe. Their name says it all. Friendly service, large portions, great food. You have to get a pancake to share. They are the size of a large pizza! Huge omelettes and skillets. Great place to take the whole family. During peak times prepare to wait, but it will be worth it.

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday yesterday based on how famous the huge portions were. The outside looks really vintage and well kept but the inside is horrible. Old carpets, old tables, old silverware, and very outdated decorations. The service was decent but the overall experience was not pleasant. Yes food was ok but not enough to drive back there again. Oh and cash only? C'mon now. With all the money they save on not having credit card machine fees, they can afford an upgrade on their atmosphere. Major let down :(

I went here this past weekend with a group of 7. We decided to order a couple items and all share. We ordered two guasti skillets, one guasti omlette, and one stack of pancakes. The skillets came and were huge!!! Even for that many people we should of only ordered 1 ! The omlette was fine to share and we dusted it off without any issues. The skillet and omlette were tasty. We got a side of toast and biscuits and gravy. The biscuits and gravy were gross...gross doughy biscuits with yucky tasting gravy...so i passed. My hubby devoured it, but that shouldn't say much because he will eat anything. We also got the stack of pancakes and man...THEY WERE HUGE!!!! We cut portions off for everyone and we all started to try them...they were by far the worst pancakes i have had in my life!!! They were doughy, chewy, and tasted undercooked...though i doubt if it was cooked right it wouldn't of made a difference! The batter tastes awful!!! Have the employees or owners tried them??? I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy...even the hubby took a couple bites and pushed them to the side...and he eats ANYTHING....it was that bad! I think they add playdough or something to the batter...just horrible stuff! Service was good and coffee was refilled often. Go here for HUGE portion but not for quality. The omlette and skillets were good. If i ever go back I'd get one of those and share! Everyone here over orders and you see them walking out with a take out box....share one dish with someone...though a skillet could feed 4 easy.

What a great breakfast spot! I found it today by searching on yelp. I had a great breakfast special for $5.99. TON of food. Pancakes are ginormous and delicious! The service was great. The restaurant was pretty busy, but our server was extremely attentive. Would definitely recommend!

My boyfriend and I went here because we wanted to try a new breakfast place. The service is good. The food is just ok. The portion is huge, to say the least, and the price is affordable. You can feed a family of four with a single order. A single pancake is as big as an entire pizza. But it isn't airy and fluffy, it doesn't even smell great. I still like IHOP better, I would not return to this place unless I am feeding a family on a budget.

This place is great! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because everyone loves it here so much that parking is really difficult and there's usually always a wait. We waited about 30 minutes for a table for 2 adults and 1 child. It was our first time there and we didn't really realize how big the food was. Now that I know we plan on ordering one thing next time and just splitting it. I spent more than I usually do for breakfast, but that's because we ordered one item each and even ordered one HUGE pancake. Everything tasted great and the waitress was so nice. I can't wait to go back.

3.5 I recently read an article saying that good service includes touching the customer, but many people disagreed and said that would make them uncomfortable. As I sat down, the waitress came over and put her hand on my back, and all I could think about was the article. But whatever, given that the place had a homey, traditional dining hall feel, I didn't mind too much. But when she left, she tugged my hair... and that was just weird. But aside from that, she was pretty sweet. Anyway, the food itself was not bad. It wasn't amazing or anything out of the ordinary except for its sheer size. Each plate was huge. There were 6 of us, and we ordered one pancake ($4) to split among us. We each had a piece about the size of a regular pancake and we still had a little left over! The butter on top was the size of a big ice cream scoop! I ordered the chicken steak with gravy ($8), which was one of the many specials listed on a blackboard when you first walk into the restaurant. It came with 3 eggs, biscuits with gravy, and homestyle "fries." The potato was kind of bland, and the biscuits weren't fluffy. The other egg plates we ordered (diced ham and corned beef hash) were all just alright as well. The guasti skillet was pretty bomb though! Oh and half of my friends got coffee, unaware of its $2 charge, and a large OJ was $4. Just fyi. But prices of food (for quantity) is pretty cheap. If I lived in the area, I'd probably go back, but I wouldn't drive 25 min to eat here again. But you should try this place if you're around and get the giant pancake experience. :)

The Guasti Skillet was tremendously titanic & tasty. I normally order the Ortega Chile Cheese Omelet, which is excellent, but I was a risk taker today and gave the Skillet with Biscuits and Gravy my best effort. The risk paid off and I left with a full stomach and a clean plate. I joked with the manager, as I left, that I was still hungry. He offered a full stack to go which I had to turn down. He did suggest that I try the 1lb Double Cheeseburger the next time I was in the area for lunch...a challenge that I gladly accepted...just not for a few more days once I've been able to complete digestion of the HUGE skillet breakfast I just finished.

Oh jesus. Where to begin here. The breakfast burrito is wonderful. DELICIOUS. Everything you could ever want in a breakfast burrito, It even gives you what you don't want, which is a stomachache from eating the damn thing because it's just too much for any single person to try to eat in one sitting. Everything here is plus-sized, from portions to patrons. Don't come in here expecting to nibble on something. Go big or go home.

We enjoyed the old location and today tried the new location. The food was even better than we remembered! Food, service and atmosphere was all wonderful. Chilaquiles, patty n eggs, bacon, machaca plate and pancakes were all solidly good. The only thing we weren't keen on was the parking lot, so little and so crowded but we will be coming back in the near future!

Sat at a dirty table, waitress wouldn't look at me, got my order wrong, rushed me, no Visa/M.C. allowed but they got an ATM on site that will charge you $2 for $20. Gave me an attitude when I told em I'll be back will the cash. In business 32 yrs. has their customer service sloppy at best.

I wish they were open longer and accepted credit cards other than that I love this place. Even when its busy its not as long of a wait as other places including ihop or denny's. You go in and they make you feel at home. The food is delicious and you get a lot of food for what you pay.

I think Guasti is a decent down-home cafe, if you're also looking for large portions. This place is more suited for families who love casual comfort food and aren't looking for high-end, beautiful-looking food. The service is always okay and the food is consistent. Their daily specials are a good deal, but the regular menu seems a bit pricy compared to the competition. The location is easy to spot from the street and parking's usually okay. I think about this place whenever I'm craving a huge stack of steamy pancakes, mouth-watering biscuits and gravy and hearty home fries.

Better than an IHOP. This is a converted church. They took out the pews, replaced them with a bunch of tables with red plaid table clothes and kept the chandeliers. The staff is really nice. The portions are gargantuan. I think the food is somewhat underseasoned but I have a spicier palate. I had the spanish omelett with a side of sausage links. I think they use 5 eggs for one omelett. They food is pretty standard not bad, not great. They aren't trying to be heroes. They seem to want to produce good food right down the middle of the road. Completely respectable. If you are hungry come here. There is a bit of a wait. They accommodate large groups. It is not very expensive.

Have been here numerous times and all has been great, until recently. Ate here in Mid September, took large group visiting from San Francisco and food tasted great. BUT, after we got home, all my little nephews got extremely sick from their stomachs. My nephews and my son were in the bathroom immediately after getting home. Those in our party who ate the huge pancake got really sick. My son had to stay home from school for two days because his food poisoning was so bad. Shame on Gausti for serving these bad pancakes. Will not return.

I got a big kick out of the gigantic pancakes. Luckily, the giant pancakes also tasted good, SCORE! I also ordered their biscuits and gravy. The gravy had bits of sausage and was very creamy. I would recommend eating at this restaurant with family and friends (especially if you have a big family and want to share the pancakes). This restaurant is definitely a unique and affordable place.

It's real good. Nothing I'd justify waiting hours on end for though. The pancakes for reasons unknown are heavy & dense. I feel like I ate a brick after I tackle half of either the blueberry or buttermilk pancake. Being a blueberry pancake connoisseur has resulted in my palate being very picky when it comes to my precious blueberry pancakes. But, alas these don't do it for me. But...the biscuits and gravy are fabulous. Try those with some coffee & you'll be good to go.

I have lived in Chino California for my entire life and i haven't eaten here until today. I have heard about it from word of mouth around chino about mainly how massive the pancakes are. Yes in fact they are massive as i saw when i see people order them. I decided to get a egg and bacon omelet which was massive because its cooked with 5 eggs and i got hash browns and a biscuit and gravy to go along with the entire meal. When it first came it looked amazing and i can't express that in any other way. My first bite of the omelet was great with crispy bacon and the perfect amount of cheese. The hash brown were good and the biscuit and gravy was very good. It honestly only took about 5 minutes for our food to come out so its good fast service. The only complain i honestly had was the waitress didn't come back to the table as often as i would like, but i felt bad also because of the many tables that she had to serve at the same time. The price on some items is a little expensive, but if the meal is shared then it is fairly cheap to eat. Make sure to also have plenty of cash because unfortunately they don't take credit cards. If your in the mood for a great secret place of chino with good food then i highly suggest stopping by.

This restaurant is the very reason why America is fat...! You've read it all: tire sized pancakes, etc. I decided to get the "meat lover's skillet" and it was enough to feed three people - though I found it to be very salty. I got it with a biscuit and the gravy was really great. I love the homey, almost cheesy feeling (like the first thing you feel when you walk through your grandma's door and realize you're in a different world.) My girlfriend got the breakfast burrito and I feel like that would have been a better portion size for me, though the food per dollar ratio is lower (since this place is all about quantity, I can do that too :) ) I saw people who got their food, turned around to see them later and it was all gone. It chills me to the bone that people can eat the portions they order here! And no I didn't see take out boxes, even though we had to get a bunch.

OMG.... their pancakes are enormous! I went with 2 friends and we were only able to eat maybe half of the order? I think we'll have a little pancake-phobia after this visit.. hahahahaa.... Besides from the pancake, all their other dishes also come with a REALLY generous portion. I ate only 1/3 of my omelette and that was it for me. I was too full. I ordered the Guasti scramble and it had a lot of ham and mushroom. What was nice about it was that it came with another big portion of potatoes which was extra fulfilling.

I only went because my wife made me, she loves pancakes, so we pulled into this little cafe. When i saw the portions coming from the kitchen I wondered if there were only certain items on a separate menu that came out that big, but to my surprise everything is enormous. The food is not the best but it is good and you get more than you pay for, Its some stuff you see on "Man VS. Food". I will return, and the kids loved the ridiculous size of the pancakes.

Wowzers everything is big here at Guasti Homestyle Cafe. Remember stepping into World 4 in Super Mario Bros 3, where all the Goombas and Green pipes were enormous? Thats kind of how this place is except the food portions are big. I stop by here on a few occasions when I am out working in Chino. This is my local favorite. The setting is a traditional breakfast and lunch diner. There is even a waitress named Flo, I think. How awesome is that. She is real friendly and waitressing is her craft. As for the meal get the pancake to start. But just get one because its big enough to share. Than I would go for the skillet or omelette dishes. It comes with a of potatoes, so you will get full and have to take it home. I recommend the biscuit and gravy. The gravy has some sausage bits inside and taste awesome. Some of the food is a bit heavy on the grease but that's expected for authentic American breakfast. We are looking to spend anything between 8-16 dollars for lunch but I think its worth it. There was something about the mugs and plates at this place. I can't remember why I thought it was interesting. But look at it, I think it is a collection of different and random mugs. Come to Guasti's if you are in the area, you will appreciate it.

So after reading a lot of 'good' reviews my friend and I finally decided to try this place out. We were up early because of a hair appointment and it was on the way. At first I wasn't sure how far into Chino this place is, but let me tell you it's literally in Chino. If your not familiar with Chino, expect to drive at least 7-8 minutes just because you're probably going about 10mph looking for it. First off, the building looks like it used to be for church or something. There is this little chapel looking building with seats and an alter that you see as you exit. You don't really notice it until you actually exit the place. Also their parking lot is tiny and a one way. To enter isn't so bad but when you exit, you go through an alley or something. Creepy if you go at night. We walked in and the place is really spacious, different rooms too. When we walked in we were greeted and seated next to their "haunted house". It really wasn't but they had cute decor and model's hanging on the wall and stuff. We sat and were immediately greeted by our waitress who took our drinks and gave us a few to look over the menu. While the menu doesn't look too big, there's a lot to choose from. You'd think breakfast is just breakfast but this place was just like "HERE CHOOSE" with like 20 items to choose from. (Note: You can see our food in the photos section. I uploaded them) Anyways, my friend got the Guasti Skillet. The "everything and the kitchen sink!" one. Let me tell you that thing is huge!! It has bacon, sausage, peppers, onions, mushrooms, 5 eggs and hashbrowns or potato "fries". Read that FIVE eggs! This serves about 3-4 people, depending on how hungry one is. The most unbelievable thing of all is that it did NOT look greasy at all! We were so surprised! Jack in the Box's breakfast bowls have more grease soaked in them than this skillet ever did. It's like the cooks squeezed out all the oil and grease and served it. Now for my plate. I played it safe I have to say. I ordered their corned beef hash with potato "fries" and egg whites. I love our waitress because she was really honest. When I asked her about the corned beef, she said it was from a can but its still really popular. Regardless if it came out of a can, I still ordered it and liked it. The waitress also gave us a side of their homemade salsa. It's really good. It goes great with the Guasti skillet and with egg whites. Just to see how huge their pancakes are we ordered one. Let me tell you that is like a medium pizza, literally. We cut it into pizza slices and serves about eight people. They also have a huge bottle of syrup at the table. The pancake is a pancake, I mean what is there really to say about it? It was huge, light and kind of fluffy. They serve your drinks in huge glasses too. The service was awesome because they always refilled our glasses without us having to ask. And someone came by to check on us, which was nice, because the timing was like every now and then, not every 5 minutes or 15 minutes. For portions and price, it was just about right. I paid about $8 for my plate and $2 for drink plus tax. My friend got her skillet for $11, really great price. Our pancake was $4, not bad considering you'd pay more at IHOP or Denny's for smaller portions. Overall, I recommend this place to anyone who's hungry and looking for something out of their neighborhood. Chino has a gem that one wouldn't think they would have. It's Chino you know?

The only thing keeping me from giving this place a 5th star was a syruppy sticky tablecloth other than that, good food and alot of it. the price seemed kinda steep but the food you get can feed 2 people. So I went with the sausage cheese omelet and she went with the hotcake, we both ended up taking half of our meals home. biscuit and gravy was good too. good service, crowded. Cash Only. they have an ATM on site but probably cheaper to stop at your bank on the way and save yourself the 2 bucks in BS Fees. I tend to gaze at other peoples tables/ Plates and they looked good too. your ever out in chino, give it a try. Breakfast and Lunch ONLY. they close at 2pm so get there early.

I remember coming here with my hub after finding it on yelp. We got here around 11am and their parking lot was PACKED! Thankfully we waited only 10 min before we got seated. I did also notice that they dont really do a good wipe down after a party is done at a table. Our table was really sticky and not to mention our forks had remnants of others meals. YUCK! The waitress quickly apologized and changed out our utensils after cleaning down the table. BIG plus for no attitude! We ordered the chili verde omelette, the guasti skillet, with a side of biscuits and gravy and threw a short stack of pancakes into the mix. Our waitress looked at the two of us like we were crazy! She asked if this was our 1st time (it was) and if we REALLY wanted to order that much food. (we did.. i love leftovers!) Our food came about 15 min later and *drool* YES it was WAY too much food. But gawd it was sooo good. I loved it all. We asked for salsa and she said they had a hot one and then a HOT one! lol we got both the HOT one was so good and hot lol it was made with habanero chilis. SO if ur into spice make sure to ask for the HOT salsa.. its not unbearably hot just enough to give u that kick u in the mouth youve always wanted. Surprisingly our bill was not bad at all. And we took 2 bags of food home and a pizza box pancake holder.

What better way to spend a late morning early afternoon at with friends. Can't believe Ryan P. knew about this place and the original location in the small town of Guasti. They now open later for the lunch crowd as well but they mainly did breakfast only and still don't do credit cards so bring your cash people!! I am not going to order a pancake when I know I'm not going to attempt to finish it. Think of it as the size of a medium pizza from your local pizza shop. That's how big 1 pancake is and my best friend was telling me him and his co-workers have come here, order a dish each and share a short stack of 3 pancakes. Short stack of a huge proportion times 3. Are you insane? Still the funny mugs at each table and endless coffee. Same waitresses that looks like they help build the first establishment and this one. Still in the middle of nowhere. All I know is, if you are hungry, you think you can handle finishing your own dish, I challenge you to come here with some friends and chow down. prepare to wait as this place is no longer a well kept secret. They now have expanded a little so there's an outdoor patio seating area. Still no dessert but I would have liked to try what my friends suggested when we ate here today. Spanish coffee and also a scoop of ice cream on the pancake instead of a heap of butter. I know what I want to eat in the morning.

So, I'm driving down the street and I pass by the Guasti café and I think to myself; is this the same GIANT pancake place I used to go to when I was kid over there near the Ontario airport?! I look up the place on my phone and YES, YES, YES it is. Those days back when I didn't have to worry about calories, fats, carbs, etc... this was one of the Saturday spots. Back when my culinary pallet was still developing I loved this place! Today I finally got a chance to try it out at the new location. I picked up my mom and headed there for a 4th of July mid day breakfast. The hostess was friendly and sat us at a corner table. That is pretty much when the friendliness ended. Our server who we later found out goes by the name of Cory seemed to be very perturbed to have to serve us. She was not particularly welcoming or friendly from the beginning but my mom said I was imagining things. I mean if I ask you what type of OJ you serve and you give me attitude and say "uh regular OJ." I just looked at her and took a deep breath (because I'm working on not reacting in the same manner when people are discourteous or rude) she says "well we squeeze the oranges." Fresh squeezed OJ that is all I wanted to know. The food: My mother ordered her bacon extra crispy and when Cory brought it out her bacon was a soft rubbery mess and my biscuit (sans the gravy) was presented to me in three broken crumbled pieces along with the bill. I suppose she really wants us to eat and go. I didn't touch the biscuit or bother asking for something else. My mom asked for her bacon to be cooked a bit more and well good o'l Cory took the bacon and never returned. I'm not kidding she never returned and I never saw her face again. I could see the bacon sitting on a metal shelf in the kitchen from where we were sitting. Can't fault the chefs they cooked it pretty quick. We waited and waited and finally I got the attention of another server (Brenda) and she apologized brought us out the crisp cold bacon and asked if she could get us a soda or something else to take with us. My mom asked her if Cory had left and she said no but attempted to apologize and not throw her under the bus at the same time. We went to pay for this very underwhelming meal and discovered that it was cash only and that our French toast combo, veggie omelet with egg whites, and one OJ was $30.00. Wow! My mom expressed to the cashier (Samantha) that our server abandoned us and we were very unhappy with our service. She was very nice and apologized but she had no clue what happened to Cory or why she was such a jerk. There was a manager standing next to her while we expressed our displeasure and he just stood there and let the cashier handle it. He could have easily intervened and introduced himself as the manager and asked us about our experience but instead he chose to stand there and nod his head as Samantha did all the talking. After calling back to ask to speak with the owner my mother found out that manager was named Jose. Jose has a very interesting non involved style of management that I'm not very familiar or comfortable with. We were so excited and pleased to find this restaurant again and it was a complete disappointment! Why Cory didn't care to serve us or found us so distasteful is a mystery I don't really care to solve but I will never set foot in this place ever again. This is not the same Café of my childhood.

Not the greatest breakfast place around but it's decent. Large portions are nice but the prices range from about $8-$11 per plate. Although there are large portions, they do have an "extra plate" charge. I compared our visit to BC Cafe/Panama Jacks out in Claremont, CA. And I prefer the latter. I ordered the Guasti Skillet and it was just okay. It was more of a scramble than a skillet since to my understanding skillets are layered. The portion was great but nothing spectacular that I couldnt make at home. 2 of our guests ordered the country fried steak and eggs and although again it was a generous portion..... they both agreed that the steak itself was covered in too much gravy and the meat itself lacked flavor. Another guest ordered the omelet and did enjoy the plate. But most omelets are pretty standard. We also ordered the giant pancake to share among the 4 of us. To my surprise this was actually really yummy and my favorite item we ordered. But with the subpar service, cash only pay method, and the elderly obese woman (who is apparently the owner) terrible and unappreciative attitude ...... I'll be trying other breakfast places.

Nice little cafe. Only concern I had was the dead flies on the window by our table.

Delicious and great prices. Only negative is that we went in 95-100 degree heat and you felt it inside. I don't know if it was due to the amount of people but it was extremely warm while we were there. But you get an enormous amount of food for what you pay and it's delicious!

About what you would expect from a non-chain family run style of restaurant/breakfast joint. A variety of different choices for omelettes, pancakes, breakfast burritos, waffles, etc... Nothing really stands out as a favorite or has crazy flavor profiles but its still pretty good food and service. I've had the biscuits and gravy, corn beef hash, a few of the omelettes and all were good enough to bring me back. Overall a nice place to grab breakfast with your family. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but since it's a few miles away, we stop in from time to time. Give it a try if your in the area.

The good ol' hang out! The place was originally located at Guasti, CA a small town in front of Ontario Airport in Ontario, CA. Relocated to my hometown Chino because it's the best town! Okay when you get here, you better be hungry like a trucker. Because 1/3 of the people are truckers. They serve you a GOOD portion of pancakes and if you can finish it, you should rethink your line of work! The coffee mugs are unique because they look like what you'll find in your kitchen cabinet, different mugs from all the companies you've worked for. They have logos of companies that you've never heard from. I think the trucker that ate there probably left it there because they were so tired. The place does not take reservation, so you'll need to arrive early and at least 6 deep to tackle that pancake. As for the good ol' days, this was and still is the place to hangout with friends after you just got off the party and I don't mean a midnight clubbing, but a 6 AM party and then grab breakfast here. Party 'til 6 AM and then breakfast at 8!
