This is our families go to Thai place in Chico. We love their chicken pad thai. So good! Prices are reasonable. The place looks creepy on the outside but is very inviting on the inside. We typically do take out when we order from hear. I've heard that the place is under new ownership, but the quality of food appears to have stayed the same. If you like Thai food, give this place a go. 5 stars for food, 3 stars for exterior.

Since we moved to Chico, everyone said Sophia's Thai Cuisine was the best in town. We went a few weeks ago for my husband's birthday, and what a let down. The server was at the hostess stand. She seated us close, and we were seriously the only table in that part of the facility that had any customers. Bizarre, especially since we tried to go to Cocodine first and they were closed for a holiday picnic or something. Other than taking our order or bringing us our food, she checked on us once. The food was okay. Not awful, but not the most delicious, either. Nothing that warranted all the raving that took place, that's for sure. I ordered some curry and asked to substitute shrimp. They told us it was going to be an extra $4. It seemed steep, but whatever. When they brought me my dish, I was annoyed to survey a grand total of four shrimp in the bowl. So, definitely file this away under the heading "Overblown" and "Overpriced."

Food was a 5, but service was a 3 :/ Besides the BARE minimum (serve water and take order) the staff didn't seem interested to be there. Our meal was great though - the rice was perfect and flavour was amazing.

Love it here, the food is awesome all around. Only issue: sometimes they are not open when they should be, but I still give them 5 stars because I think this is just part of their culture

The outside is nothing to write home about but the food is great! Price is on par with most places in town and since this is a quick walk down the street it'll be a great way to get good food while burning a few calories.

I enjoyed the #4, Pad Woon Sen.it was delicious. The bean thread noodles were yummy , the shrimp were cooked to perfection and the Thai spicy hot was just right. I will be back!

This is my first time eating Thai in Chico and I must say, this is delicious. It is located in Nord Avenue not too far from the Burger King. We were greeted to our table and given a menu with various dishes to pick from. I chose to try out Thai cuisine's icon of Pad Thai and asked to make it as spicy as possible, and let me tell you this, it's spicy. The Pad Thai is savory and its spiciness is something other restaurants bragging about "spicy" foods should emulate (because it's THAT spicy!). They have a decent selection of drinks and you sometimes have to ask for water refills. The decor has a very exotic feel to it and it thus adds to the experience. Overall, I am very content with this restaurant and will consider coming back again to try out other dishes I can have my tongue burn in spices to. And to the people who complained about the food being spicy, it's THAI food. I don't walk into a Mexican restaurant and expect no beans or rice in my meal.

I love the pad see ew here! It is very spicy and is delicious! It is a bit pricey but definitely worth the price. The pho here is also very good. The outside of the restaurant is very shabby looking, but the inside isn't. I would recommend this place, just remember it is very spicy!

The menu online lists prices that are half the actual price so when you go there to pick up a to-go order you get a surprise price that is ridiculously expensive. To top it all off my boyfriend found a COCKROACH in his soup. Luckily we found it before anyone touched their food. When I called to inform them that we would be returning with the food for a refund because of the deadly diseased insect in our food, there was no apology on the other end of the phone. It was as if this happens all the time and it was just another order of business. Enjoy this thai food at your own peril.

Change of ownership - not at all the same restaurant. This use to be my favorite but I won't be coming back.

Just made a $50 to-go order from this restaurant and ended up very disappointed with the service and food. In the past I have had to wait 20 extra minutes after they said they would have the order ready, so this time I went a little later than the time they told me. When I got there, they didnt even have one of the dishes I ordered on the menu even though I got it a week ago from the same place. Instead of calling me and telling me before I got there, they had me pick a new dish and wait 20 minutes longer. After I got home, I found out that they forgot to include 2 thai iced teas and one of the other dishes. When I called to complain they said "Oh yeah... you forgot the rest of your order" which I thought was rude because they had the nerve to blame me for their mistake. After I expressed my irritation with the whole experience, they continued to show no interest in keeping their customer. The least they could have done was refund the thai iced teas or throw in a mango sticky rice for the inconvenience. In a town where there are at least 6 other thai restaurants with the same or better quality food and prices... I recommend picking either Cocodine or Chada Thai. I have repeatedly had problems with the service here. The only reason I kept going was because it is a little bit closer to my house than the other thai restaurants. Save yourself the stress and go somewhere else. 1 star for the service and 1 star because their food is ok.

This is my first experience at a thai food restaurant in Chico. Unfortunately, it wasn't a good one. The service wasn't great and it took forever for the food to get to come out. We observed other tables and everyone's food was coming out at different times. Some people would be done eating before other's had started. For the food, I ordered the pad thai with shrimp and it was delicious! However, it costs FOUR extra dollars for 6 pieces of shrimp. Absolutely ridiculous. So basically $15 a plate. This does not include any drinks either. Not very happy with the service or the cost of the food. It's a bit outrageous overall and I probably won't be going back. I wanted to give one star, but I gave an extra because the food was actually good.

Service: Terrible Food: Okay Prices: Okay Location: Great Menu is unorganized, the service is extremely slow and unapproachable. The location is convenient, but there are definitely better Thai restaurants in Chico.

This place has the best Thai Tea in Chico, no kidding! I have tried from others Thai restaurants in Chico and so far this one was the best. I can't wait to try the food too

  • Taylor B.

Where to begin, where to begin. As I write, my hand is still burning from the drips of my pad thai that splashed out of the box, onto my hand and onto the backseat of my bosses brand new car. The gist of this place is got all 4 of my homies and I order wrong. Mine TWICE. I SAID NO PEANUTS!!! NO PEANUTS!! ADD BROCCOLI CARROTS I can handle spicy. Thier "medium" spicy burned like the fires in hell. As did my hand. Never going back to this place.

I recently moved to Chico and I was craving for Thai food. When my roommate and I entered, it was beautiful. I loved the decorations of the elephants on the fabric. I was so happy and delighted because the first thai place I visited in Chico was nothing like this. It looks small on the outside but it was pretty roomy. The food was pretty bomb! We ordered the papaya salad and we had to get seconds! We killed it so fast! We ordered a lot of food, actually. The sausage was yummy. The pad thai was sweet, although I wished it was a little bit sour. It was good though. The angel wings were a little too sweet but it was cooked well and very crunchy. My new favorite place in Chico,

  • Sophie M.

I really loved the food here, it was within walking distance of where I lived so my friends and I decided to try it out. I thought since it looked sketchy on the outside it would look shabby on the inside too but it wasn't, very nice decor on the inside. The food was really delicious and I would definitely recommend the pad Thai and the pad see ew. The drawbacks however are that the service isn't very good. They're kind of slow. Not rude but slow. My friend ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp and the guy said it was an extra dollar so she said okay. When we got to the register they charged her $4 extra dollars! The waiter should've spoken up or used his fingers to say how much extra it was because we swore he said only a dollar. Their English is a little bad as well so that might have contributed to his lack of speech. But nice people. Everything on the menu is pretty expensive but the food is wonderful. Probably will do take out next time.

Curry was good, Larb was not. Chicken satay was pretty good and service was mediocre. Overpriced.

  • Moorea M.

Okay. So I am not one to write reviews good or bad on yelp, but the experience I just had absolutely calls for it. I ordered a soup with veggies, and it came out with chicken in it. I'm a vegetarian and I told them and then less then 5 minutes later it came back. I asked them the broth had chicken in it and explicitly told them I was vegetarian and didn't eat meat, and they said there was no meat in it or the broth. I ate most of the soup and at the end I found a piece of chicken which means they just took the chicken out of the first soup, and lied to me about it. This is so horrible. Also, they still charged us for the meal, and the service was slow, not very attentive, and the food was over priced. I would never go back here, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I love this place. Try the yellow curry. It is great, I could drink the sauce it is so addicting. It has the perfect blend of spices , curry and coconut milk. They have a ton of other great things on the menu too.

This hole in the wall Thai place is amazing! I've enjoyed every dish I've tried...from the Pad Thai, Papaya salad, Pad See Ew and the Pineapple Fried Rice is a must! Great place to go with a group and try a few different dishes. I always leave full and with some left overs! When they ask how spicy you want it- the medium is plenty spicy!! I love spicy food but I wouldn't try any spicier than medium. Quaint and awesome decor inside- even if it looks dumpy from the outside. I've never had a problem with the service, everyone is usually super friendly.

  • Debbie L.

The place is yummy. Definitely the most authentic place in Chico. I've had a variety of dishes including the noodles and curries. My mom had a soup last time she was here and she loved it. It's not too pricey. Th building is pretty dumpy, but they have done a descent job of making it look nice on the inside. Although the food is very good, today I met a little fella. It was a baby roach which means that it has parents. I know how hard it is to keep things clean when you have a bunch of college kids living in interesting places coming in and out of here. People bring in bags and backpacks that probably spread the roach problem, that being said, I shouldn't have encounters when I'm chewing on the food. I can't imagine how they would deal with this and I can only hope that the kitchen is bug free. There is no access to the kitchen, so what they do back there is a mystery to us. Enter at your own risk. Maybe say a prayer before you indulge (or pick it up, so at least you don't see it). Some of you may choose to bail entirely, who could blame you? I'm on your boat, sadly. I hope they deal with this soon.

Literally LOVE this place. I'm from San Diego where there's too many good Thai places to choose from, so finding this little gem was a God send. I was sketched out at first but I've come to learn that most shady looking restaurants in Chico, are the best of their kind. We always get the yellow curry and pad Thai, so unbelievably good! They're fast and family run. Better than even the fanciest of places I've seen.

    (5)
  • Mallory W.

This place is the terrible!!!! The service is awful! I asked the waiter if this one dish is good. He responded if you like it? What kind of answer is that? So I ordered it and it was disgusting and I asked to get something else because I couldn't eat that. He came back and said yes that's fine. Later to find out he is charging me for both dishes when I ate one bite of the gross meal and they took it away. Don't waste your money!

  • Cassie B.

I absolutely LOVE Sophia's. I always order the Massaman Curry with chicken, HOT. It is always delicious. The spice level varies a little bit but the flavor is great. Even though its expensive, my fiance always gets the seafood hotpot. It's by far our favorite Thai food restaurant in Chico. I have to admit, the building is kind of weird. The service isn't always five star, but the servers are very nice nice.

  • Jason D.

I lived in Thailand for a year, so I have an ok understanding of what thai food should taste like. If you want a good pad thai this is the best place to go in chico, most authentic, although I highly recommend asking for some lime to squirt over it as most places in the states I have been to don't give you any unless you ask and IMO it really makes it. The curries are really good here too. The som tum is good here, but I've never had a bad som tum. Flavor/authenticity wise this is the best place in chico. If you are only interested in curries and like a better value and larger portions "Thai express" on east is a good place too, although Sophia's pad thai is wayyy better. Highly recommend this place

Best Thai food in Chico, no questions about it. I have not had one dish that I haven't been thrilled with yet. Tofu eaters?!?! Their fried tofu is done wonderfully, great texture, great flavor. So many vegetarian options! Soups are great, noodle dishes are great, and curries to die for.

  • Clara G.

It was soso. I had the Massaman Curry and it's different everywhere I tell you. It's okay for Chico food...

  • Jennifer Y.

I always order the pad kee mow and it's so freakin chronic, except certain times when it's kinda bland. The downside to what could have easily been my fav restaurant in chico is that sometimes, they have different cooks that don't make what I order correctly :(

    (3)
  • Karen S.

Don't be discouraged on the exterior of this restaurant , the interior is more appealing. Everything I've ordered from curry chicken , to sum Tum , or their seafood dishes are well prepared. The only down side is the service, waiter was slow taking order, but being patient is worth the wait . I eat here when I'm on the west side of town.

  • Garrett D.

Little, whole in the wall, family run, place but some of the best Thai food I've ever had! Go there every time I have the chance. A little expensive but definitely worth it!

  • Roger G.

Have dined there a few times and the food was good enough to return. Went there on a Saturday afternoon. They appeared open. It was boiling hot weather for Chico. Opened the door and went inside. We were greeted by someone at the counter with menus....and we were the only two people in the restaurant. There as no air conditioning on in the restaurant. When I asked whether they had air conditioning, the lady replied, "Yes, we have it, but it is not turned on." Penny wise and pound foolish stuff. As if I want to sit in a steamy hot restaurant after coming from outside weather of 100 degrees. We left without sitting down. Not to return.

  • Matthew W.

Ordered a veggie peanut curry, veggie egg rolls, mango sticky rice and thai iced tea. They were out of the sticky rice, price was $24. Kinda high. Both me and the waiter forgot my tea, so that's down the drain. Peanut curry came separate from the veggies and looked like thick turkey gravy. Meh. Nice decor inside.

Took two hours to get our food. Never got my drink. It was graduation day so I understand why there was a lag but the customer service was horrible! The food was okay but the portions are pretty small. Won't be going back.

Some of the best thai food I've ever tasted. They are really stingy on the amount of food that they give you though..... The price is comparable to other thai restaurants in Chico

Favorite Thai restaurant around. Found it amusing everyone claiming it is not "real Thai food" is Caucasian smh lol... Where I grew up the majority of childrens parents were straight out of Thailand or Laos. When there were birthday parties or whatever it was a huge potluck. Unfortunately I could not communicate with them because they did not speak but a few words of English but they understood chunky little girl wanted seconds, thirds, and so on... haha.. Anyways what I am getting to is besides eating at their homes this is the closest I have gotten to "real" Thai food. I urge anyone that does not trust they know how to Thai it up try their Thai hot food lol! As for the complaints about the language barrier... shouldn't that only prove my point? lol Recently I noticed there are different workers but the pad thai tastes even better so I urge people to try it out I have been going a lot more recently than I had for awhile... I also believe the prices went down a little. I am not positive but it seems like it costs less when I ordered (usually have my boyfriend do carryout and order is often different). Also I had been disappointed with my order about 4 months ago (when their food seemed to be more expensive, but less quantity. I wanted to give it a shot since I have been a long time customer and I am happy I gave it another shot cause I have been back twice this week and food is still exceptional.

  • Kerri S.

So.. this use to be my favorite place to eat ever. Like I would literally eat here twice a week. And now it SUCKS. The new people that work there/own it now need to find the old owners and ask them very nicely to teach them how to cook. I loved the yellow curry, pra ra rom song, and all the noodles. Now they have different noodles and it just taste different. Not as flavorful and not as amazing as it use to be. The yellow curry has cherry tomatoes in it. CHERRY FUCKING TOMATOES, who does that?? The peanut sauce is NOT as good. It's watery and not as flavorful and they didn't deep fry the tofu. WHO DOESN'T DEEP FRY THE TOFU??? Anyways, if you didn't eat there before the owner ship change, you'll probably like it.

  • Tom G.

I love this place. It is always a destination every time I go to Chico. The food is excellent, the price reasonable. The service is always friendly and topnotch, from the charming daughter of the owner who does her homework in between serving to the owner who comes out to chat to the brand new guy who was so conscientious that he gave me instructions on filling out the credit card papers. When we get to take people out to dinner, this is the place I want to show off.

Best yellow curry I've ever had! Everything here is delicious.

Best thai food in town, the friendliest staff and reasonable prices. Completely worth the drive to that side of town.

    (5)
  • Diane S.

Place is big, no customers though. Food is okay and the service is good as the owner checks up on you frequently. Food was not spicy and kinda far for me to go back to just okay thai food. got the pad thai.

This all took place tonight 11/4/14. My first impression driving by this restaurant was that it was run down and not great looking but I decided to give I a try anyways (because some of the best food comes from hole in the wall type places). I regret my decision. Although I did enjoy the decor, music, and environment of the restaurant, the service was some of the worst I have received at ANY place I have ever eaten. Our party of 4 was one of maybe 5 groups dining in, so it was by no means busy. We ordered our food and they brought us our drinks. And then the wait began. About 35-40 minutes later they brought us our appetizer egg rolls. In the mean time they have already served appetizers to other people who came in after us. Ten minutes later we decided to ask for our food in to go boxes because we had other plans and our food was taking so long that we would soon be late. We decided to pay the bill so that when the food came we could just leave. Then a girl came out and told us the food was done and it would be right out. Soon we had been there over an hour and went up to the register asking for our money back for what we hadn't eaten. As he was giving us our money the food came out. When I left I realized it was in smashed boxes with plenty of food and grease all on the outside of the boxes. The worst part of this is that all customers were upset about the waits and the staff ignored it. Not once did they admit any fault or apologize or act like anything was wrong. Instead they just tried to convince us the food was done and to wait. When I finally ate it was just OK. Don't go here if you dont want mediocre food and horrible service.

waiter/waitress are so unprofessional and impolite. customer service here sucks big ones. food quality has dropped so much as the new owners have taken over. i will never go back here.. over all its not like it used to be.. and i don't recommend it.

  • Shane K.

My favorite Thai place in Chico. Love their beef satay, egg rolls, pad thai, and basically anything without coconut in it (not a fan). If you like HOT, this is the place to go if you really want to try some fire, they will burn you if you choose Thai hot. Staff is super friendly and the decor is simply lovely.

  • Jiayang H.

Update May.20 2013 They had new owner and the price went sky high. There is no more large size noodle soup and now the regular size is tiny. Well the food tasted the same but it is not make sanse to me anymore to pay extra for the same food (which I can get better food in other Thai restaurant). I'll still miss the Duck noodle soup though.

Terrible service even when the place is relatively empty. Tried the pad see ew, EW being the key word there. Never coming back here ill try another thai spot next time.

I absolutely LOVE Sophia's!!!! Every time my parents come in to town we go there! It's family owned and the staff is so friendly! And the food is AMAZING!!! I've tried so many different things on the menu and I've loved every single one of them!!! My favorites however are the pad Thai, eggplant, green curry, and BBQ chicken in the lime dressing, and of course you've got to order a Thai iced tea or coffee with your meal!!!

I thought the food was very good. The service was super fast and the food was on my table in5 min.

The food quality has changed and it is normal when new owners take over. I hope they can get everything back to how it was before. My favorite thing to get is the pad Thai. The Pad Thai used to be perfect, now it's just too runny and to sweet. I will change my review when I have a better experience here.

  • Alexandra F.

I love Sophia's. I've been here for dine-in and take-out, either way I always have speedy and attentive service. The food is very authentic, and the "medium" spicy is plenty if you like spicy food (which I LOVE). And all of it is reasonably priced for the large portion sizes! I always have leftovers. Definitely my favorite Thai food in town.

In my very humble opinion, the best Thai restaurant in Chico. Worth driving across town for even though I have a Thai restaurant right next door.

I ate here about a week ago for my friend's birthday. I was pleased that the tables were clean, the interior was nice, and the service was friendly. Our server seemed very young, but she was very polite and thoughtful. After our party of 10 ordered, she repeated everyone's order back to them. She even divided the checks into separate totals so we could pay individually (which is not common for restaurants). Everyone really enjoyed their meal. We had several vegans at our table, and all of their meals were prepared correctly. My own dish was very tasty, and my friend's peanut sauce was incredible. The highlight of my meal was the mango sticky rice dessert, which was the most amazing thing ever. The mango was perfect, it was sweet and warm, just sinful. One of the ladies (I think the owner perhaps?) said that dessert is really good in the summer, but not so great to order in the winter because mangoes aren't as good. Makes sense. One of the things I like about Sophia's is that you can order the number of the meal you want rather than trying to pronounce the actual name. I always find it a little bit embarrassing and possibly offensive to butcher names of traditional Thai meals. So, that's really nice. One of the things I don't like is the building itself. Cosmetically, it looks a little bit run-down, and there is no bike rack (which is odd in a college down in the downtown area). However, it is very close to a #3 bus stop, and there are things to tie your bike to (but I hate to do that). Overall, Sophia's is a good place to go, and I will be back. I would recommend it for both lunches and dinners. I'm not a Thai food expert, so I can't vouch for "authenticity," but if you want good food, give it a try! On a side note, the one in Paradise is not owned by the same people.

Anyone who gives this place 5 stars is getting paid to do so!!! or you dont know what real Thai food tastes like. I love thai food and have been to many Thai restaurants. I had the yellow curry and it was horrible, blan, watered down, and cheap. After eating the curry I went to the bathroom and threw up, this restaurant successfully succeeded in being the first place to make me throw up from eating food!!! NO JOKE! dont go here, trust me! I know my Thai food!

I have tried all the Thai restaurants in town, and like them all, but Sophia's is my favorite. I get the #62, a stir-fry with cashews. I get it with tofu, which is what I like-- but it comes with the usual meat choices if you want. I had the Pad Thai, as I always wondered what the big deal was with it-- yum! But, warning-- I ordered it mild, and there is no way I could have had Medium-- it was just right spicy but no more, please! The Thai iced tea is a bit too sweet, but I just drink some up, then dilute it with water, and it's perfect.

Went here while in town for my sons wedding. We really enjoyed it, even tho our waitress was very new and inexperanced. The food was great, but I am not an expert on Thai food. Great little place and was very good ....

This is the best Thai place in Chico. Best tasting dishes and lower price points to boot. The noodle soups are fantastic, especially the fish balls. LOVE the fish balls. It's quiet and very romantic as well. Love, love love it!

Sophia's was the first Thai place that I went to in Chico and it will be the last. This place is really good. Fast and friendly. When you drive by it doesn't look like much but go in, its worth it if you enjoy Thai food.

I really love Thai food and I like it spicy, so this place is great for that. The prices are reasonable, and it's a quiet atmosphere. I will keep coming back here.

I have the duck noodle soup (N6), that what I always get when I go there. The noodle is a bit soft, but good enough. The duck is unbeatable, it's super tough to find duck to eat in Chico, no complaints. The soup is missing something and I don't know what it is.....just not quite there yet. I sometimes ask them to put the duck on the side when they serve because having the duck in the soup makes the soup oily. This dish is a bit pricey compare to the other dishes, but I want my duck noodle soup. They have long hours and open on sunday is a plus!!

Wow, after reading all these reviews I really wish I would have tried more of the food besides just the Pho. I came here for the Pho, Ma'am. Just the Pho. And it was Pho-king good. FYI: don't blink or you'll miss it. It is located at a weird place off of Nord and the parking can be a pain in the can. If you live near campus, I recommend riding your bike.

Their environment was very Thai orientated. Since I watch Ong Bak, I know, because they have elephants practically everywhere, so if Tony Jaa comes here, he'd be happy. The waitress was lovely. I ordered the duck noodle soup, large. I was hungry. She asked me, "It's a pretty big portion." I can handle that shit, I ALWAYS order large whatever. It came. To be truthful, I was a little disappointed at how the duck was all soaked and soft. I was expecting it to be a little bit more firm. The soup was good at first since I was hungry, but after awhile, I noticed that it was SALTY. Too much flavor, and the fact that I ordered their Thai ice tea wasn't any help, because that was sweet. I asked for water, but I guess she didn't remember it. I asked again, she still didn't remember. Oh well, I drank all my roommate's water. Oh, and yes, she was right. The portion was really big. I wasn't able to finish it all. Either it's overly big, or it was just too flavorful, and that flavor was able to make you full quickly. I guess if I had more water, I may have been able to finish it all. Oh well. Their Thai ice tea was excellent. I was never served the tea where the colors were seperated. It was always premixed for me. So I was entertained for a minute there.

Building is dingy and parking is poor. Location isn't great. However, the food is great and a good value. The thai hot is actually spicy, and the pork tasty. If this place had a new location it might be a lot busier. One of my favorite thai places for lunch. Can't beat the price for a flavorful thai dish. I have eaten here at least 30 times.

The other reviews on here shock me. If this is the best thai food Chico has to offer, I'm really let down. I'm new to the area, and this is the first thai food I have tried. I wont be going back. Really lame thai food, to put it simply. The service was good in the sense that we were seated quickly and didn't have to wait long for our water and food. The restaurant was empty besides two other couples, but we were sat right between them. Not a big deal, but a little annoying to all be in each others conversations since there was plenty of seating. The food was blah. Worst Tom kha I have ever had. I would have been better off heating up a bowl of milk at home, squeezing a lemon in it and saving myself the 8 bucks. The waitress was kind enough to bring us some red chili sauce for the soup when we requested it, but it didn't help much. Pad Thai was another let down. My basil chicken was at least edible, but lacked on flavor. The restaurant is less than a 10 minute walk from my house, but despite the convenience I will not be going back.

So awful, I got the Mussaman Curry and it was the worst Thai food I have ever had. It was super watered down and runny and it just tasted nasty. The service was good, but it could not make up for how awful the food was. It was also FREEZING in the restaurant. Don't go here!

I'm not too experienced with Thai food, but I really love the yellow curry here. I am a lightweight when it comes to spicy things so I requested it mild, but even mild has enough kick to burn your lips. Even so, it's amazingly delicious, and they give you HUGE portion sizes too. Order take out and you'll have leftovers for lunch the next day as well. Having been back, I can say their egg rolls are awesome, and the mun tod (fried sweet potatoes) are even better. The pad thai is just okay, but their BBQ beef is way too tough...won't be getting that again. The employees are super friendly and their prices are cheap for the amount of food you get. The parking lot is a little wonky, but it's really a non-issue once you've been and know your way around.

food was ok. The dollar fee to use my card was a rip!

The food is ok, but it is just not a real Thai kitchen... If talking about the service is the worst I had never had. I been there two times, the second time because I had no choice after long driving going back to bay area... I don't know this lady that she is the owner or not, but she is so rude even with the girl which has long hair.... I have thought that Thai people are soft and kind, but not Sophia's Thai Cuisine staff.... Me and my husband have decided won't come back again... I am sorry I don't like that place.... Or I can say we hate that place a lot.... They are so so rude....

I love eating here- great food for a good price. Got my bf addicted to Thai food by coming here- always served fast and with a smile. I love seeing Annie (the owners daughter) when I come in- always nice and has a story to tell. I'm a regular when in town. :)

This restaurant has a quiet atmosphere with an Asian feel (not Americanized). The staff is friendly and the food is delcious. It's a little on the spicy side. The hours are much more convienent than other Thai restaurants in Chico.

I'm not an expert on Thai, but I love curry. I've tried every type that Sophia's has to offer, and they're all delicious. The Pad Thai is also pretty impressive; it's flavorful and savory with a delightful texture.

ok so i was going to get Cocodine but I didn't want to drive all the way across town so I ordered Pad Thai and papaya salad 2 things that are pretty hard to mess up...I called to place my order and had to repeat myself several times...okay not a big deal. when i got to the restaurant it was clear that their normal cashier/waitresses weren't there. He handed me my food and i tried to give him my credit card. he just kept saying no no...thankfully i had cash but i wish i hadn't. i got my food home and my papaya salad tasted like nothing but was swimming in dressing then i opened my pad thai...oh no. it looked bad the noodles had no sauce on them and the sauce that was around the outside had separated so i tried to stir it all up...but then OH there is some raw egg. WAIT...WHAT?! I almost wanted to go back and demand a refund but no one would have understood me. i will not be going back to this restaurant and will continue to support Cocodine even with the drive.

I like thai food, well most food but I love it spicy, hot, tingling. This place is good for noodling. I only went once and it was fine.

Where do I start? The food? Best Thai food in Chico! Try the papaya salad and the pad thai. It's soooo amazing!!! The owner is so nice. She recognizes us whenever we go in. Lol she knows that every trip we make there is for the papaya. Nice cozy little place, great owner, and best of all is the food.

I judge a Thia restaurant by the Pad Thai Chicken and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience! The food is wonderful, the people are attentive and the prices are good. The location is quirky and the dining area is kind of hole-in-the-wall-ish, but I rather like that kind of thing!

This place has 4 1/2 stars? What a joke!!! This is like the freezer aisle of Thai food, it is so disgusting. I only went once because it's close to my apartment, and from now on... I will just drive to Cocodines. The Tom Ka soup tasted like cream with a squeeze of lemon, not lemongrass and coconut milk.. The counter girl was really super nice but come on, I paid for the FOOD. If you like REAL thai food, not cheap drunken Chico Thai food, COCODINES!

I moved to Chico from Long Beach because I am going to school here, and for a while, I was getting really homesick, not necessarily for the people, but for good food. I found Sophia's on the internet and decided to check it out. I have tried a variety of items on the menu and have found them all to be extremely tasty. Since my first visit, I have gone here every Friday for either lunch or dinner. The service is phenomenal, they are very attentive and come back often to refill your water and check in to see if you would like anything else. And since there aren't too many people flooding into the restaurant, it really makes your experience a lot better.

Great portions, speedy service @ lunch. Its always a treat when the food looks, tastes and smells like dear 'ol Mum's. Beware of the "Thai" hot when the staff asks if you're feeling adventurous. We had the Larb (not spelled how I thought) and the Som Tum (spelled exactly hot I thought) and both were very nice.

I have been here MANY times even had my husband get take out right before closing and the food is always very fresh and tasty, The staff are very friendly and the establishment is always very clean. I really wanted to like this place since it is close to my apartment so I gave it two chances. Both times I went, the food was not that great and my mild Pad Thai was more like a medium (my friend's dishes were also more spicy than what we thought we were getting). The service and atmosphere were good but I think I'll be going elsewhere for Thai food.

I love this place! I had Chada thai at the taste of Chico, the next week I wanted to order some that takeout, but Chada didn't have an online menu, or website for that matter... What year is this? Sophia's was the only place with an online menu so I went there, and I've been going ever since. Their curry is delicious, the red curry is my favorite, they also have pretty good pad thai. They do pho and a bunch of soups that are also fantastic. Their pho is not as good of a value as the thai food though in my opinion.
