This is by far the best pizza place in Chico. It's fairly priced and fantastic quality. Plus, the service is exceptional. The owner is frequently working and he makes the experience so awesome. All our needs were quickly met. The ingredients are local and dressings are homemade. My wife and I are vegan so it can be difficult to find places to eat. Not only were the vegan pizza options awesome, our questions were promptly and politely answered. Support local business!

Absolutely one of the best pizza places in chico. The cracker thin crust is impeccable and the service is always great! This is a must have here in Chico!

Mama Celeste's is an excellent pizza spot! The owner, was super nice and took the time to talk to me about how is pizza is made and what goes into his sauce and dough. For me this was huge plus because I'm a culinary minded kind of guy. I enjoyed learning about his family history with pizza and how that translates to his love of his dough and sauce today. GREAT Place. Highly recommend it to anyone. If you are looking for chewy and thick, go with the calzones, if you are looking for that thin crunch then the pizza is more up your ally. All in all the sauce was fresh and superb, the crust was great, and the overall ambiance was great with over 30 beers to choose from. This place isnt just heated up sauce dough and cheese. Thanks guys.

Not what I was expecting based on the reviews. Service was fine, the restaurant was very clean but just not my style of pizza.

Love this place! Been trying to get on track with my diet but I swear this break is so good I can't give it up! The owners a super smart guy and definitely knows his stuff. I'll say that this place IS the best pizza place in town! When I need to get pizza for the family or friends this is the place to go. So what are you waiting for? Go! Go! Go!

Jim and Tim were both great. I took my daughter in today to pick up a few pies. Tim the red sauce lived up to the hype and thanks for letting me make some changes. Prices were fair for the quality you receive. We'll see you again soon.

Love it here! I've never been to a pizzeria that served vegan cheese. And on top of that (the expression, not literally) they gave us half vegan cheese and half regular cheese for my boyfriend. Super cool. We got Auntie I's veggie delight and it really is delightful. My new favorite spot for sure :)

Screw every pizza ever made, I'm cutting your pizza like a tray of f-ing brownies! Yup, just like a tray of brownies you, A-hole! But we will get back to that. Now, I'm not saying I'm a pizza expert, but I have had some amazing pizza in my life. Being from SF I like to imagine I have stuffed some of the best into my mouth two times a week for the last 28 years of my adult life (you should see me naked! No, no one wants to see that...). That said I give this pizza 3.5 stars, and the reason why is this: The crust is nice and thin, just like I love (think cracker without the crunch in the middle. Lots of crunch on the crust), but sadly it is a touch too salty. The red sauce is the best I have found in Chico so far, but is missing something... Is it missing fresh basil, or a pinch of sugar to cut the acid? I can't put my finger on it. Good, and zesty though, and still 10x better than Celestino's crapy crushed flavorless hot-house tomatoes they pass off as marinara; I still can't get that taste out of my mouth. The delivery is fast, and the customer service is friendly enough, so I bumped it up to an even 4. Now to the slice, and literal dice... Who cuts a pizza like that? Some of you are like me in that you are a 'folder', and some of you are a 'stacker', but here you're going to be a pizza lover eating a tiny wedge of crust, or have your fingers covered in sauce. I have yet to remember that this is the place that cuts their pizza like someone that has never cut a pizza before, but I imagine you could ask them to cut it like a normal pie. One would think the, "cut it like an A-hole" would be a special request, however it seems to be the regular. I haven't had an opportunity to try anything else on the menu, and I most likely won't because I'm a pizza man at heart. I'm sure it will be just as pleasing though.

Probably the best pizza place in Chico. It's a lot of things, but I have to state for the record, this is NOT a Saint Louis style pizza. It's still a good thin crust, but its stone baked and crunchy, versus that distinct thin crust style us Mid-Southern/Midwesterners love. And the sausage is weird. It should be crumble style. And they need to add toasted meat ravioli to the menu. But that's my only complaint. We'll be back. All hail Mamma Celeste's.

I've been to every pizza establishment in Chico and I must say this is my favorite. The ingredients definitely taste fresh and made in house. Unlike the overly processed tasting junk that you get at chain restaurants. I recently had the Chicken Cordon Bleu calzone and it was amazing. I ordered the large thinking I would save the rest for lunch the next day. Well, I ended up eating the whole thing in one sitting. I could not move for a couple hours, but it was worth it. I did do a few laps around the block later on to make up for it. I also like how the owner actually cares about his business and is concerned about what people think of his establishment. I do have to admit that I enjoy reading his responses to the "trolls." I will definitely be back for another calzone. Oh, and the pizza is delicious as well. I recommend the Uncle D's Special and the Little Angelo.

Honestly you're my favorite pizza place but the way you respond to critics is alarming to me. I have been coming to you since you opened and have been applauding you as the best pizza in Chico, but your attitude online makes me want to find a new fave.

LOVE IT! Problem with this review is that my friend and I went at 9pm about a week before classes start when most students are out of town (they can claim they live in Chico all they want but if they go home to mommy and daddy for several months a year they don't live here, merely visit) so it was 100% dead. We got Uncy's Buffalo Chicken. I'd never been a fan of buffalo sauce(?) but this was realllly good. This would make a great date spot if I could ever find anyone who didn't flake on me or would rather be hungover than have a conversation that goes beyond drunkard. The topping list is rather long and includes buffalo mozzarella which is something I've not seen anywhere else before. I absolutely love the stuff and look forward to trying more of the menu. I just wish the TVs weren't restricted to sports. Some of us do enjoy cartoons.

Yummy! I don't know what some of the people on here are talking about. Both of the guys there tonight were amazing and super friendly. The sauce is delicious and the crust is crunchy even after traveling across town in a box. We are sad they were out of bread because I'll bet the meatball sub would be awesome but we understand that sometimes these things happen.. Gotta go with it, besides it gives us a reason to go back! Soon! After moving to the area never really found a good pizza but I'm glad we gave this place a try. Keep it up guys :) you just earned two new customers!

Just because your cheese is 100% doesn't make it good cheese, we have 50 different tequila's that are all 100% but guess what, they suck, So just because it's 100% , it's low grade cheese, nice work. And yes I do know about food prices going up , and you may have your dollar back, because apparently you need it more than I do, it's not about how much it was, I have no problem paying any amount for a good pizza so long as it's GOOD pizza, Second of all, I mentioned what I did (good and bad) because I give honest reviews, I'm not here trying to talk smack just because , It's also funny how your store has the same "story" as that frozen pizza company, are you related ? I could see if so, given I guess it started off good and then got sold off to two different company's due to poor sales, But keep telling your self it's great, Also, did you replace the bricks in your Bakers Pride oven? Or is that a made up story also, Because the model you have doesn't support stone, just ceramic , good lie there, Because NO bakers pride oven supports it They ONLY come on ceramic ! I did my research before ordering one myself for our place ! Further more, just because someone posts a review about your store, doesn't mean you get on here like a douche bag, you try and fix the problem and make it right for the customer , So, basically, congrats on being not only one of the worst pizza joints in town, but also the worst owner, I'll be sure to spread the word around at all our business's Take Care :) Ohhhhh also and Cash n Carry doesn't sell that great of products, so once again like I said in my original post, try finding another distributor to get your stuff from because it is garbage, but keep the dough ;) Cheers!

This guy is a first class jerk. I write an honest review and he resorts to libel and name calling. Can't wait to see the for lease sign in that shitholes window. You've handled this like a true pro. Customer lodges complaint, you call him a psycho. Maybe had you done the smart thing and called me to notify me of YOUR screw up I could have canceled my order. Instead you send a "discounted" sub par product to my door. So again YOUR mistake not mine. My mistake was giving you so many opportunities to redeem yourself. Like the classless little man you are you resort to name calling and libel. Well played little man. It this will be the last you hear from me. Go ahead with your denial laden defensive response to defend your crappy customer service. Just because someone didn't like the product or service they receive dosnt make them a liar or psycho.

Prices went wayyyyyy up and sizes went wayyyyy down, love the pizza and the owner is chill but there comes a point where I refuse to pay $18 for a very small pizza.

Pizza was fresh and the beer selection was awesome! Got a medium half Hawaiian and uncle D's fresh not too much dough and great toppings!

Been coming here for a few months now and the food is one of the best places in Chico. The owner is very driven and passionate. I much prefer the calzones to the pizza, because I'm a big crust lover and the crust on the calzones are delicious. The prices are just a little high for my budget, but they send out coupons frequently enough that we can visit often. Make sure if you do have coupons that you tell them before you order, I have been scolded for making that mistake before. I am not used to such policies. Last comment is more personal preference, but I can't stand places where "put you on hold" means laying the phone on the counter so I can hear everyone else's conversations.....it's just a little awkward.

  • Angel D.

I've only been here about 3 times and every time I leave a new pizza catches my eye on the menu and I have to remind myself to come back and try something new. I love getting a personal pizza for $5 instead of having to agree on a flavor with friends for a larger pizza. ;) I've always had great service here, especially the first time I went in and an employee helped to explain the menu and different sizes. I caught the owner in here once and he was friendly as well, offering any assistance should I need it. definitely recommend Mamma Celeste's due to friendly service and wide variety of pizzas.

Pretty relaxed atmosphere. Decent place to have a beer and watch the ball game but it is way overpriced in my opinion. The pizza is good but not for the price. They also have a tendency to be extremely slow even when they aren't particularly busy.

  • Carly B.

Totally disenchanted with this place. First ten or so pizzas were great, but the last one I received was burned to a crisp. Would've been understanding of the situation if you all had any sense of customer service. However, that was not my experience. When I called, the manager answered with a we're closed greeting. I then told him I was only trying to provide feedback and not place an order...he was completely defensive, and told me to take my business elsewhere. So that's exactly what I did! After having to discard the entire pizza, we decided to take our business to Bidwell Pizza. It was delicious and the staff was very friendly. If you are torn in your decision of pizza joints, save yourself the trouble, bypass this one and head to Farmstar or Bidwell Pizza!

One of the best pizza places in town. We always get the same speciality pizza called One spicy chick. Chicken, jalapeño, pineapple, and white sauce. Honestly one of greatest pizzas I have ever had! The crust is always perfectly cooked and its thin crust and cut into squares. The price is worth it if your looking for a homemade pizza that's not like any other pizza in town. Great customer service every time I pick up a pizza too. The owner always greets us and you can tell he really cares about his product and ingredients. He goes over the order with you and they have never made a mistake with our to-go order. Thanks for the great pizza pies!

Don't know what all the yelp drama is about, our x-large pizza came out of the oven about two inches shrunk and the owner apologized and made us two more small pizzas for free without even thinking about it. He even told us not to leave until we were full. Plus, the pizza was bomb! Awesome thin crust pizza and I left with a full belly.

I love Mamma Celeste's. I haven't been there since last semester, but I'm going tonight and I can't wait! Jim is super nice and the food is all delicious! The pizza crust is as good as it gets!

Pizza is down-right amazing! Love the Brie pizza they have here!! Service is mediocre and the prices are dreadful for what it is. However, I still go there every once in a while to get my pizza kick

I've been to almost every pizza establishment in Chico and i must say this is my favorite. The staff is really nice always helpful ,the owner he is very nice and awsome guy, if get to know him well. My favorite the all meat pizza very good portion of meat. The way he cuts the pizza slice is very different, look ,on the out you get the cracker crust and middle you get the taste of all the meat, cheeses and sauce genesis. Oh! Don't forget the meatball sandwich huge home made meatball and the sauce is the bomb. Highly reccommend oh, salad bar's awesome!!!

I have not eaten here but my experience with the owner and the report from my Chico State son who consumed several pizzas (One Spicy Chick and the Meat Lover's Affair) gives me confidence to highly recommend Mamma Celeste's! I live a couple hundred miles from Chico and wanted to remotely sponsor a celebration for great test scores that my son earned for the TEAS test. I wanted an establishment that I could trust and he wanted a pizza place that had good food. Jim, the owner, is very involved with his operations and was very accommodating and professional in making the arrangements for me. In this day of identity fraud, giving credit card information to a stranger over the phone has some angst. I did my homework via Yelp and went to the Mamma Celeste's website and got good vibes about Jim Flanagan to decide to make the party happen through him. Jim put me at ease with my credit card worries, my son and his friends arrived and ended up having a great time and said the pizza was fantastic! The service was quick and friendly and the experience was very pleasant.

I went to this awesome place when it first opened. Hands down the best pizza I have ever had in my entire life. I've lived in the Midwest among many other places across the country and no pizza compares to this place. Unfortunately I moved to San Diego two years ago and I miss this place more than anything. The crust is thin and delicious. The sauce is perfectly balanced and the toppings are top notch. If you ever come to San Diego please make a pizza for me!!!!

The buffalo chicken pizza was delicious and the crust is really unique in all the right ways. You must go by this locally owned gem!

  • Katee R.

The thin crust is awesome and the salads are huge. Great beer and wine selection and great customer service. They also have an old school table arcade game. Prices are very reasonable, you can even get any pizza by the slice made to order. Definitely a new fave in town.

Outside of the Chicago area, "Chicago pizza" is synonymous with deep dish, but much as I love a good Giordano's-style stuffed pizza, (and depressed as I am that I have to go to all the way to Berkeley to find a decent one,) Chicagoans will tell you that it's party-cut cracker-crust pizzas (i.e. thin crust) that we mostly eat. I didn't even know the place was here until I had it at a friend's house. I'm not gonna pretend to be objective here, but the slightly nut-like flavor and that extra crunch that let me know there was at least a dusting of cornmeal prompted a literal double-take from me, followed by my asking where the hell he found Chicago-style pizza in Chico. My friend's helpful answer, "It's not Chicago-style, it's just this place by the Safeway on Nord." I forgive my friend his ignorance since he found me real Chicago pizza. Bonus: They make Italian Beef sandwiches. Between that and a decent beer menu, I can't believe it's taken me as long to find Mamma Celeste's as it has, but I'm glad I finally did!

Best calzone I've ever had in my life; not only do they upgrade the small to the equivalent of a medium sized pizza, the crust is crisp to perfection. Most calzones I've ever had have been floppy or soft, this is not the case here. Not only is the good great, the beer selection should stand as an example of what should be available locally. They've got the best of Sierra Nevada, Lost Coast, Ninkasi, and Deschutes. Not to mention their typical imports and amazing happy hour. I highly recommend this place, especially for game time, 4 screens and you can actually hear the commentary!

  • Jessia D.

Great, authentic pizza. The sausage is definitely the best we've had at any Chico pizzeria. They need to do a 2nd location for closer accessibility to the south end of the city. Staff friendly and attentive.

My husband and I chose Mama Celeste's based on 1) proximity to our house 2) happy hour specials 3) the World Cup US game was on ;) *this review is solely based on a bar experience, not on the food* We didn't realize that we were arriving right when the restaurant opened, so the AC was still kicking in but it got cool fairly quickly. To our surprise it was happy hour, so that meant $2.50 drafts!!! Great great prices on drinks. If I remember correctly, it was also only $3 for house wines. The only downside was that 2 out of 4 of their draft beers were out, but Tricerahops was on the menu :) not too shabby... We ordered garlic bread which they get from Tin Roof. It was a bit crunchy, but overall delicious. We were the only customers (other than pick ups), but that was fine since we were enjoying the game. The lack of stars mostly comes from the service. Being the only ones in the restaurant, maybe the waitresses forgot about us for a while? The game was over, our beers were empty, but it took almost 15 minutes for someone to come around so that WE could ask for the check. Sitting at the bar, we weren't difficult to access... the three staff looked bored and clueless/confused. We will be in again (see #1 and #2 above), but hopefully the staff gains a little bit of confidence by then.

Go to Mamma Celeste's, what are you waiting for? Nom Nom, NOM nom Nom! (oh sorry should talk with my mouth full.) Great pies! The owner has a genuine enthusiasm about the food, and that really shows. These guys have reason to be proud of their crust.

  • Vincent V.

Vegetarian friendly, reasonable price for its portions, and delicious. What is not to love? The TVs are usually on sports channel, it serves Chicago style pizza snd the manager is friendly and welcoming while maintaining a casual mood. It is great for groups and we once went for a party dinner with an international student, even he likes it over what he was used to.

  • Allison S.

The pizza doesn't taste bad, but the prices are outrageous. The owner is not a good guy. He is nice to the customers and tells them what they want to hear. Right after talking to us at our table he turns around and starts yelling at his employees. I would not work for this guy. Also, the posts written on other yelpers just shows how horrible of a business man he is.. I feel bad that you have a good product, but cannot handle a business.

Walked into empty restaurant, save the 3 college girls drinking beer, at 4:30 p.m. Ordered sausage/olive pizza and beer. Very clean and attractive space. However....it took a full 40 minutes to get VERY mediocre pizza. Microscopic sausage...low quality olives, crust tasted like frozen pizza. I saw the guy back there forming the dough, but it just didn't deliver any inkling of deliciousness. Disappointed.

I am writing this review because I am highly upset. I have heard great things about the place and since I am a huge pizza lover I decided to try it. What better time to eat pizza than during free ufc fights and after having surgery where I haven't had anything to eat for over 36 hours. I called at 6pm on a Saturday night and was asked to call back because he could not take my order. I was hesitant to call back because I know I could call my normal pizza place and not have any issue like that what so ever. But I calmed myself used my patients and called back after 15, just to make sure. When I call back I made my order than was told delivery was out of the question because he did not want to send his driver out that far because if other customer where to walk in he rather serve them than take my money. I was always told a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. But in this case it did not apply. I was not helped because he hoped that other potential customers would come in and order. If this was any other circumstance I would have drove and picked it up so I didn't have to pay delivery fee. But since I'm fresh out of the hospital that option was not available. So, I was made to feel as if I did not matter as a customer and that my money was not worth the POSSIBLE inconvenience. So my rating is 1 star. Because I was basically refused service leaving me with no pizza and what small interaction I had with the establishment was not satisfactory. I was a first time customer, and now not sure if I will ever be. --------------------------------------------------- I apologize for my abrupt disconnection on the phone but I was in pain, hurt as a customer, and frustrated with the whole situation. Let me address the key points in my review. I called asked for delivery. Was told to call back because someone could not take my order. Which would have took about 3 minutes. This was the first time ever, in ordering pizza, was I asked to call back in 10 minutes. That right there is inconvenient and not to mention irritating. At that time no one said there was no deliveries, which would have helped because I then would have ordered else where instead of waiting 15 minutes to try and order again. I again call back and ask for delivery. The person said o.k. And took my order. Then after giving my address I was then told delivery was not an option. Not before, at any point did was I told that there was no deliveries. I then was told that he could make it for pick up and I told him that I was unable to so because of surgery. The person on the phone explained that the possibility of walk in customers was worth more then taking my order. So by this point I had waited 15 minutes and called twice just to make an order. I was never told about "no deliveries" until after I finished placing my order. But I wasn't told no deliveries. I was told that they were choosing not deliver to me. Not that there was no deliveries. I am further disgusted that you resulted to name calling in your response. Calling me a child for not getting what I wanted. I left a highly accurate post WITHOUT any exaggeration, verbal bashing or maliciousness, of my experience. I didn't get a chance to try the food, you are right. I heard it was great. But you made it completely clear you do not want my business or the possibility of my future business. So I guess I will never know. I eat pizza often and would have at some point went back to your establishment out of shear curiosity. Because like I have said I heard great things about this place. And after having a different take on the whole experience and finally being able to try the food I would have re-reviewed my post. After your response I don't know if I should feel comfortable evening going in.

Best Pizza I have had in chico, maybe in my life. I've had about half of the specialty pizzas on the menu and they have all been delicious. Affordable prices too with a personal pizza ranging $5-$7 after tax. I recommend trying the calzones as well, they're so big you might be wondering if there's a dead baby on the inside, but nope! Just fresh ingredients. You can tell Jim really cares about the product he puts out. What other owner do you see reply to his yelp reviews and try to fix customer complaints? If you read this one Jim, well done. And keep up the comments they are very entertaining.

Love this place. I used to live across the street from here and came a ton of times. I've moved since but still try to come by as often as I can. Great pizza and great service. It might be expensive for some but you really get what you pay for and that's great pizza. Love it and highly recommend.

I ordered a veggie and a salad to go, walked in and looked at the menu outside and then at the register. Service was great, they were very attentive to the eat in customers and to guy that called ahead since he only had 15 minutes to eat. The pizza was a little thin but pretty tasty (not a distinctive sauce was the only downside) adding the parm and red pepper packets helped jazz it up a lot. The big pain in the ass was that they changed the prices but had not changed any of their wall or outside menus.. so I wanted a 14 inch veggie for $14 and a small salad for $4.50, instead they charged $20 and $6.50. Didn't think you were supposed to do that?

Tons of specialty pizzas that are unique and very tasty! Stone baked pizza results in a thin crispy crust, won't fill you up, but holds the pizza and topping well. Try the pesto caprese and chicken cordon blu. Yummy. The calzone takes a little longer to bake but worth it. Comes out piping hot, lots of sauce and cheese inside, crispy outside and soft crust. You can stuff the calzone with anything. Friendly staff, small joint but has a tv and a nice selection of craft beers.

Tonight I took my son here. It was our first time and I gotta say I really liked it. The pizza and calzone were perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Jim was very friendly and the place was very clean. I'll be going back for sure. If you haven't gone in you're missing out.

Mamma Celeste's is one of three pizza vendors in our Dorm Dollar Program and by far the most unique! Their pizza crust is very distinct and addicting, try the Rocca's Favorite. They also have a wide selection of sandwiches, calzones and salads. If you are looking for pizza with a little something extra, check them out!

One word is all that's needed! BOMB! I got their coupon in the mail and decided.... Why not try something new.... Well I called in a buy one get one free pizza advertised (1-medium Mediterranean chicken and 1-medium meat lovers affair) when I went in I was surprised of how clean and inviting it was for being in the center of collage town. I was greeted when I walked in. I said hello and that I had a pick up. I was asked if I had any coupons and I pulled it out. To my surprise I was THANKED for using a coupon? He (guessing the owner as he was so overly nice) went on to say that he was glad I went out on a limb trying and new place even because of the coupon and it showed that the coupon was working and not a waste. Well I was surprised and thanked him for my pies as I walked out and he continued to thank me and hoped o would be back. Well the proof would be in the box. When I got home I wasn't hungry myself and didn't think much of it as its just pizza right? I let the kids tackle it and went off to lay down. I got up an hour or so later and only found a couple pieces left of each. I took a slice of each and was blown away at the flavor of such a simple pizza? I mean you wouldn't think a pizza could really surprise you right? Well it wasn't a box of sour dough it was a box of flavor and was bummed i didn't get it fresh and hot. It was still great!!! Thin crust with all the right combination of good stuff. If you're looking for cheap crappy filling, don't insult these guys by not appropriating their pizza but if you want a good pizza, this is your spot! I'll definitely be back :-)

I waited until I visited this restaurant a second time since the first time I went was the week they opened, and still had some snags to work out (really long wait time). But from the first visit, the pizza was amazing. I had actually gotten the calzone and was blown away by the crisp, crunchy, cracker crust. Unlike anything we have in Chico. So it's a great addition to the Chico pizza scene. The sausage also stood out, much higher quality than I would expect from most pizza places- you could definitely taste the fennel. As I mentioned before there was a long wait the first time we went, but my second visit was 15 minutes from order to picking up the pizza. A fair and acceptable wait time. The owner wasn't there the second time we came in, but the first time he definitely made an impression. He was a loud, bellowing type, and so proud of his food and restaurant. The passion he has for his pizza only makes me want to support this local restaurant even more. However, the aggressive comments toward anyone who says something slightly negative on yelp concerns me.

This is hands down the best pizza place in Chico! They only have one problem and that is their pizza output. It takes for fucking ever! I'm a die hard fan of their pizza, but I bet business would be boomin if pizzas were comin out quicker.

I do not understand the negative response about the owner below. I have been here numerous times and he is always nice. The pizza is really good and crunchy which is good! Its juicy and flavorful. The calzones are really good also. He got better seating and tvs everywhere to watch all the games. Its not a franchise and there are only like 3 employees working so calm down if it is not out in two seconds jeeeeeez. I really like this place, and the owner is really nice if you actually talked to him instead of acting like he owes you. Pepperoni pizza is good, calzones are bomb! I have also tried the meatball sandwhich and it is pretty good also.

Buffalo Chicken inside a Calzone with blue cheese. OMG- I love it. Delivered before the estimated time and was a perfect temperature. I will definitely order from here again.

went back for a pickup order on Friday evening. as with the last time, everything was great. my food was hot, fresh, and ready when the told me it would be. both the cashier and the owner made it a point to engage in conversation and be friendly. I am seriously impressed by this place and am glad we have a quality pizza style alternative here in Chico.

My first time here was a week ago, I don't live on that end of town so I never noticed it. Tonight I made it a point to drive over there to see what other pizzas I could try. First off Great pizza spot. Super affordable quality pizza stacked with toppings! I've heard nothing but good things about the calzones, but I cant get past the pizzas. A "slice" is actually a personal pizza, perfect size for one. Try the buffalo chicken pizza it's one of the best I've had, and I'm from the east coast where buffalo chicken pizza is a staple. The owner is usually there, real nice guy, if you get a chance say what's up to him. He seems like a genuine dude who appreciates everyone's business. I hope this place does well I would hate to see it lose quality.

1x "small" calzone, small Cucumber Salad w/ Bleu Cheese, 3" Garlic Bread and Apple Juice. I sliced the garlic bread into small pieces, took the salad to make heaping open faced sandwiches drizzled w/ Balsamic vinaigrette. It was all in order, Calzone was perfection, salad fresh and garlic bread crispy. Trying pizza next time.

I am a pizza connoisseur, and I really like their pizza. The crust was really good. We ordered a pepperoni and vegetarian pizza for 6 people, we ate the whole thing! They do deliver, with $15 minimum. Will be ordering again soon.

I have mixed feelings on this place. The owner seems like a nice guy with good intentions. I tried the calzone the first time I went there. It was a tad on the dry side so I asked for extra sauce to go with it and they wanted to charge me for refrigerated plastic cups of sauce. Kind of ridiculous but not that big of a deal. Food tasted good. I went back today while doing laundry for a slice and a beer. I sat at the bar for a good 10 minutes before I decided to go stand by the register. The couple ahead of me were still trying to decide what they wanted and the owner asked me if I had a to-go order. I said "No I would just like a beer." I stood there for another 3 minutes and went and sat back down. After another 5 minutes, I gave up. Speed of taking the orders is important to me. The place has mountains of potential but there is much to be desired for pace of service. Extensive beer menu and the food options available are quite nice. I will come back and update my review again later as I feel I need to give it another run.

Fantastic Value. Nice dining area and easy take out. The food is good. They aren't life changing pizzas, but for the price, they are very good and large. Nice thin crust, with flavor and quality toppings. Certainly one of the new favorite places to grab a quick pizza. Certainly in the top 5 Chico pizza places IMO.

Delicious pizza, calzones, and meatball subs!! Don't miss out on this hidden gem :) I love everything here from the calzones to the salads. The pizza is not heavy or greasy and the flavors are always consistent. Yum!

This is hands down the best pizza in Chico. My husband and I LOVE this pizza! We moved here a year ago and couldn't find a good pizza place, we tried almost all of them. Then we found Mamma Celeste's and will NEVER go anywhere else! Their prices are also super affordable.

It can be easy to miss this place but make sure you don't! The crust is great and the toppings are on point. The calzones are my favorite right now but I haven't tried the sandwiches yet. They also have some interesting combinations.

I've been meaning to write a review of this place but it always slips my mind. The thing that attracted me the most was the vegan crust advertised in the window. My first visit was great (and the rest of them, too). The crust is fantastic. I always order the Auntie I's vegetarian pizza, hold the cheese. As another reviewer mentioned, you can bring in your own vegan cheese and they will gladly add it to your pizza. (NOTE: the bag has to be factory sealed, otherwise they can't use it.) Their calzones are pretty tasty, too. My only complaint (and it's not even a complaint) is that the veggie pizza doesn't come with a lot of toppings, so I find I have to add a few. Adding extra toppings isn't cheap, but I do it anyway because everything is so fresh. I really love this place, and the owner is really helpful and delightful. I ran into him at The Banshee one night and we drank ourselves under the table. I ran into him later and his hangover sounded worse than mine, so there's that. Oh! And I wish they sold alcohol, but I understand why they don't. If you want booze, order it to go and drink up while watching a movie with all of your cats. Oh wait, that's just me. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good pizza in Chico.

Mama Celestes is a hidden gem in Chico. So delicious, my boyfriend and I have tried almost every type of signature pizza and have recently been on a calzone kick. The quality is always amazing, the toppings are always fresh, anything you order is delicious. Some of the best pizza I've ever had anywhere, the crust is to die for! The subs are also so good, the garlic bread, the flatbread, I could go on and on. We have been huge fans since the beginning, and Jim the owner is such a nice man, he truly cares about his customers and makes sure their experience is positive. The food speaks for itself, if you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it!

I rarely write a review after visiting a place only once, and even then it's usually because there's just something so egregiously wrong about a place... but make this an exception, and a wonderful one at that... I was taken to this place on a Saturday at 2:30PM this past week (the 26th). I wasn't particularly hungry, and not even in the mood to eat... but my companion said that this place had been highly recommended by a friend on Facebook... yep, a ringing endorsement-- someone on FB said it was good. Zoiks. The decorum? Some booths and a bar space, simple. But I don't give a shyte about decorum unless it's a sit down place, and even then, Chico has places like (a downtown breakfast place) where every.single.square.inch… .covered.with.something.it's.like.visual.diarrhea. This is about the food. The place was completely empty but the girl at the counter was patient while explaining that the "slice" was really a personal pizza, etc. We decided to split a small pizza-- I forget the names off the top of my head, but my half had sausage, grilled onions, and olives, while the other half had garlic, tomato slices, basil, and one or two other vegetarian toppings. Both of the combinations are named specialty pizzas on their menu. When the pizza arrived, I was delighted-- even before I tasted it. The pizza was covered *very generously* with the toppings-- this was important becasue the pizza was also cut in a "checkerboard" fashion rather than the traditional slices, meaning lots of square slices. EACH SLICE had toppings on it, almost all the way to the edge of the crust. If i were not such a fatarse, I would have remembered to take a photo or two to post. I made mental notes that the crust was different than many places, much less different to other places in Chico-- cracker-crisp, dusted on the bottom with cornmeal, and surprisingly held up well to all the toppings over the next 15 min as we savored the pizza (it didn't get soggy). I also made an extra note that I was very impressed with the quality of the sausage-- I pointed out to my companion that the sausage was definitely a step up from most other pizzeria sausage- it was leaner and had visible specks of fennel (I read the other review and agree- it's great sausage). I am truly regretting that I didn't try the meatballs... but I will for sure the next time and I will update my review. We asked about the business, and the girl replied that since school is out, it's slowed down-- that's fine by me for now, as I get the summer window to eat there as frequently as I can (I tried to convince my companion to go there again that evening on our way out of town, but I was rebuffed). This place is easily Chico's best pizza place, especially if you like the thin crust-- if it were in the Bay Area, it could hold its own with many of the places here. And in some ways, it's good that's it's not here in the Bay Area-- it would be too freaking busy with these low prices, abundance of toppings, and unique crispy crust. And it would mean I'd be eating here so often, that I would need to take out a HELOC on my underwater house (which I can't) and would probably be dead in about six months because all the fennel would have clogged my arteries. Executive Summary: + Very good, downright cheap prices (student friendly), but good sized portions and toppings + High quality ingredients, especially the sausage + Unique crust, different from everyone else in town - None that I can think of. Some people may not like the thin crust but they're those fools who think deep dish is the best (like I said, fools!). Oh well, more for me.

I feel like this is one of the best pizza places in Chico. It's not super heavy and greasy leaving you feeling guilty and sick for hours afterward. Their crust is unique and pretty darn good. The spicy chick is pretty delish! The owner was super nice and friendly and told us that he looked forward to seeing us again. The only downside is the price of the ranch cups, but being that running a card costs the owner more than the actual ranch cup price I don't really blame him. I will definitely be going back.

This food is amazing and the restaurant is really hitting it's stride. The menu is mouth watering and I think it is the best pizza in town. I have had no issues with service or staff. I would give this place a 5 star rating but I'm a bit put off by the owner's yelp retorts. I don't think it's necessary; the quality of the pizza speaks for itself. Keep making a wonderful product and don't worry what people on Yelp say.

By far my favorite pizza place in Chico. Been there on several different occasions and the food never disappoints. Pizza, calzones and sandwichs are delicious and excellent value. Great friendly fast service, the owner is usually waiting on customers and always make sure our order is perfect. I would strongly recommend Mamma Celeste's pizzeria

This is a very good thin crust pizza. Crust is good, sauce is made in-house and has good (not overpowering) flavor, cheese is tasty but not greasy, spices sprinkled on top. Smells good, tastes good. The "slice" = mini pizza is a very good value - my wife and I had 2 "slices" + 2 soft drinks for under $13, which is pretty unusual these days.

We were so happy to have Mamma Celeste's Pizza open up in our neck of the woods. We knew they had been working on opening up a while ago and we eagerly awaited their first day. We were not let down. The first thing that struck us was the crust. It is, in my opinion, what makes the pizza. It was cooked to a light golden brown and buttery good. The portions are huge and the Calzone I ordered was a such monster that I barely finished. You know its a good Calzone when your stomach says "Ok dude... thats enough" but your mouth disagrees. The staff is very friendly and you can see the pride of ownership from the owner. On a non-food note... they have Star Wars pinball and I was obsessed with that game years ago (and kinda still am).

We were out shopping in Chico and got hungry. We often visit La Familia over near the nord area Safeway but did not feel like Mexican. Then we thought to try the new crepe place... but alas, it is already permanently closed. So, we took a shot on this pizza shop. The woman at the counter was very patient with us reading their lengthy menu and really took the time to explain things and answer our questions. We each ordered a slice, a salad, and a juice to stay and eat onsite. The decor is spartan and mismatched, but clean - and that is the important part. The salads were good and fresh. The pizzas were generously topped and plenty big to take home for another meal. Our salads were ready nearly right away and the pizzas were not too far behind. The service was efficient and pleasant. People came by a couple of times throughout our meal to see if we needed anything. That was a nice touch. The food is very tasty and the crust is uniquely delicious. We are very picky about where we spend our money and are pleased to add Mamma Celeste's to our list of go-to places. We are happy to have found it.

i stopped in here a few times because my folks live near by. Like many others here, i had a humorous encounter with the owner who was camped out in a booth in the back which seemed to serve as his office. the place was dark and i thought no one was working when i heard an exhausted monotone voice greet me from the office booth. "welcome to mama celeste sir, is this your first time?" i said yes, and he explained that a slice was really a personal pan pizza and mentioned something about the sandwiches. I wanted just a plain cheese with anchovies and the owner gave me a hilarious response "basically you have to buy the whole tin of anchovies because we can't keep them open." ...fair enough. i went with just a standard peperoni, which i would rate slightly above the frozen california pizza kitchen faire, slightly below woodstocks. I wouldn't say it was bad pizza necessarily, but i found it to be exceedingly mediocre for the price.

This is the best thin crust pizza I've ever had! The owner is welcoming and passionate about his pizza. The atmosphere is good, with a couple of arcade games in the corner and a bar to sit at, along with a good number of booths. There are lots of good options on the menu, but the slices they serve are huge! I haven't tried the calzones, but I want to. I recommend this place to anyone in Chico who wants to try a unique, tasty pizza.

Very good. Almost healthy! Thin flat crust pizza served in under 10 minutes. Played pin ball machine and the time just flew by. Prices are reasonable. Ordered Uncle D's special with 2 drinks for here and was under 25 bucks. Would recommend to try. Friendly service. Nice atmosphere. Will come back for sandwiches.

Let me start by saying that i have never been here before and didn't know it existed until yesterday. I avoid this side of town at all costs. But my boyfriend ate his lunch there yesterday because he was working on that side of town. when i got home from work he told me he had brought me home a meatball sandwich from a "new" place. Now this alarmed me because he has never brought me home food, I took it as a threat, that this meatball may be better than my meatball !!! I immediately heated the sandwich up in the toaster oven. It was sliced meatballs on a ciabatta bun, with marinara sauce and cheese. everything a meatball sandwich should be. and the taste was awesome. the meatballs were sliced, and they had a good sausage taste to them. (which is different from my meatballs.) everything was fresh tasting and it was such a big sandwich he had to finish eating it. which I guessed he figured would happen. he also stated they had his favorite beer. I think it may be the best meatball sandwich you can get in town! I put 4 stars because a i feel a 5 star review needs to include more than a sandwich, so i guess ill be traveling to that side of town soon. I love calzones as well and am eager to try them here.

Mamma Celeste's is hidden away in the Safeway shopping center off Nord Avenue. I've walked by a few times barely noticing it, and a few times questioning the idea of another pizza restaurant in that part of town. Just a few years ago Pizza Factory closed down. What makes this place so special? To succeed, you'd have to do something better than your competition, much better. Well, I decided one day to give them a try. Viewing the menu, I was extremely impressed with the multitude of options for the pizza toppings. It took a good five minutes just to go through every one and make a decision. I opted for the Garden Vegetable Patch and placed my order. The owner was working the register and is very passionate about his restaurant. He spoke of where he gets his fresh toppings and the care he personally puts into each pizza. From the reviews I've read, I'd say some people don't like outgoing personalities, but I was not discouraged. Its refreshing to see enthusiasm in ownership and pride in product. It just adds to the anticipation of a great pizza. Well, I was not disappointed. I would say it was the most delicious pizza I've had in a very long time. I would definitely put it in my top three pizza restaurants in Butte County. And for those that don't like pizza, they have an extensive salad menu too. Good job, I will be back soon.

The best Pizza in town. Thin cracker crust, and great quality ingredients. Super friendly staff, and one of the cleanest restaurants in Chico. I can always catch my favorite sporting event on one of their TVs.

Excellent pizza, polite courteous staff. Even though it wasn't an option on the website, one of the employees let me place an order over the phone to pick it up within twenty minutes. Definitely worth the price. I'm so happy they are getting a full liquor license. It will be great to get a glass of wine with my pizza in the future from here.

THEY HAVE VEGAN CRUST! This place is so awesome. They will even let you bring your own vegan cheese if you have it in a factory sealed container. Although they have nice vegan options they have great items for the meat eaters my roommates loved this place as well. I will definitely go back!

The pizza is different from any other regular pizza! Best pizza I've had in Chico. The owner makes you feel welcomed and all the workers. Menu is unique, pizza's are very unique with all different flavors and things you will not get anywhere else. If you have not tried it yet it is a MUST!

I accidentally happened upon this place as it is located in my neighborhood. I saw that you could order pizza by the slice and was pleasantly surprised that a slice constitutes a personal size pizza, I ordered a sausage, black olives and mushroom pizza and the owner told me about six minutes before it would be done. I sat and conversed with the owner of this fine establishment and found him to be quite cheerful and extremely knowledgeable about all things pizza related. Once I arrived home with my pizza creation I was amazed and astounded by how wonderful this pizza was. The sausage was the best part, real sausage meat with the taste of fennel in it, the crust was amazing cracker thin and oh so delicate. While eating my pizza my boyfriend called and needed a ride home the first thing he says to me while getting in the car is " I'm hungry". I tell him have I got a surprise for you, so I drive back down to my new pizza find and we order a much larger pizza that we brought home and shared with our neighbor. Please my fellow Chicoians please try out this place and you will find it as delightful as I did, plus I want them to stick around.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
