OMG!!! Cheese galore!!! I love cheese and I'm so glad that we went with friends who loves cheese too!! This place is so cool. All the workers were attentive and you can sample all you want!!!! They were very informative and helpful. We asked for the deadliest blue cheese (since the bf likes it so much) and oh boy, we got the deadliest and it was so goooooood. So we bought 1/4 lb and man, it stank up the car for a bit! I am coming back here before we head out to the beach: cheese +wine +great company + beach = best day ever!!!
Reminds me of the cheese shops in Amsterdam. Yummy cheese and they give you samples! Wish that they made sandwiches here too, so you could have a lovely picnic on the beach.
Always a fun experience. There's hella cheese, the guys/gals know their cheese, and the cheese is good. They've made great recommendations, and hand out samples constantly. Don't forget your crackers or wine!

I am absolutely amazed at the reviews for this restaurant. I want to be up front while I write this review. I am from the east coast, so maybe I judge food differently? I'm not really sure. I do know that I eat out constantly, and this was completely sub par. This came up as a top choice on trip adviser. I love greek food, so I was excited to try. When we walked up, it was a friday night so there was a wait of about 30 minutes. The girl at the door seem very overwhelmed. She was taking down names while we decided to check out of there was room at the bar. It turns out there was 2 spots at the bar left open. The bartender was a middle aged woman who was dressed the part (middle eastern style clothing.) She took our drink order with not much of a smile. This is a small place, but it was filled. At one point, two men started singing and performing which was great. It filled the room with a fun, nice energy. We started off with the hummus. It came out on a plate, with zero presentation and some store bought pitas on the side. It was absolutely tasteless. We both commented to each other that we've had better hummus from the grocery store, but did eat it as we were both starving. I decided the key was to find out what this place did well. We asked the bartender/server what she liked and suggested. I suppose that should have been the warning sign. She simply looked down at the menu and read off of it. Clearly we could have done this ourselves. She didn't really add much into the description just read the menu of some of her favorites. She wasn't passionate about any option. If you eat at a really good place, the servers will highly recommend something. You can tell they like the food. It was quite apparent that this woman knew what we were about to; nothing is worth bragging about. We decided to order the halibut ($30.) We waited and waited. At one point I wasn't sure if she had even entered it into the computer, but didn't want to say anything. Finally after what seemed like forever, I asked very politely if our dinner was coming. She looked around the restaurant and said "its really busy and I don't know your ticket number." She then went back to moving things around behind the bar. Mind you, she was only serving a total of 6 people at the bar. Two minutes later she walks back to the kitchen and serves us with our dinner. Just as I thought, she totally forgot it was sitting back there. By the time it came to us it was cold. This was literally a piece of fish on a bed of over steamed spinach with a side of what looked like instant rice. Presentation truly isn't everything, so despite the fact it was cold I cut a piece and tried it. I almost wish I could put a meal through the computer so that people could taste this. Absolutely the most bland, tasteless meal I have ever had. Both of us looked at each other like "seriously?" I didn't even finish the whole thing, which says a lot because I was really hungry. Don't get me wrong it wasn't BAD, and I don't mind paying $30 for a good piece of fish anywhere. This however, was below average. At the end of the meal, she gave us a complementary desert which was a nice touch. This is standard for all guests. However, I'm still so confused as why people rave about this place. I second the reviewer that says she feels sorry for the people of Carmel if they associate this place with such good food. Carmel is a great city, and I was only there for a short time. I'm hoping there are some other GOOD places. Even scrolling threw the pictures, you can see how completely unappetizing this place is. Don't be like me and try this place because of the rave reviews. If you are familiar with Greek cuisine, you will be sorely disappointed.
This place is the reason I moved from Miami to Carmel, simple as that! ;)
Awesome place! They truly have some of the most reasonable prices in Carmel...if they accidentally overcharge you $1...hire a lawyer...or get over it...but please don't "punish" the staff by leaving $1 less tip :)

This is our regular dinner place whenever we go to Carmel. Ambiance is romantic, service is superb. Love their wonton & salsa on the table. Apps: California tower is always good. Tried their almond sea bass, black bean halibut. All are good. But I like their halibut better.
At Saturday evening, we were so hungry and exited after having such a wonderful sunny day on the coast! We asked a table for 2 as soon as they hung the fish shaped open sign on the window. Even though I didn't have any reservation, the hostess gave us a small table right away. We had California Tower, Nikumaki, black Bean Halibut with a glass of Pinot Grigio, and a creme bulee for dessert. It was enough food for two hungry adults and every dish were outstanding! The ambiance was very relaxing and intimate. The partition between tables reminds me the pubs in Korea. I loved their ginger salsa so much, so a kind wait staff gave me one more bawl of it. I'm thinking to bring my friends from Japan when they visit CA. I think they will like it!
1.The appetizers are much better than the main courses. 2.Recommend onion beef roll, panfried oyster. 3.Dont recommend halibut which taste like Chinese fish and overpriced abalone. 4.Service is excellent!
