Yum! I decided to come here for a quick lunch break since I was kind of in a rush. This place is kind of hard to find. They don't have like a big sign that says their name, but if you're coming from myrtle, it's on the left hand side. There's plenty of parking in Monrovia, just gotta get lucky with a spot. I LOVE how their menu is vegetarian friendly. I've been a vegetarian for 9 years; it's been really hard for me to find a decent Mexican place that serves some yummy vegetarian food that isn't just lettuce, tomato, avocado etc. Their menu ranges from tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas and bowls; they also serve breakfast burritos as well. They have a lot of different types of meats (beef, chicken, pork, duck etc), seafood (shrimp, fish, surf n turf), and vegetarian options (beans and cheese, hominy etc). Their menu is huge and there are so many options. HAPPY HOUR: everyday from 4-7pm. $1 tacos, $2 cheesy or regular tots, and $1 half order of nachos. I highly recommend the cheesy tots! They were perfectly crunchy, not too over cooked or oily like other places. The vegetarian taco was yummy too; it had hominy, beans, corn, guac, onions, and peppers. BEST part about this place: GET YOUR OWN COMPLIMENTARY CHIPS AND SALSA! You can get as much as you want :) they have 3 different types of salsa and they also have jalapeños. I can get full just eating these chips!

This place didn't win me over. I came here to try the duck burrito. They were out of the duck, so I tried the shrimp curry burrito. They had free chips and salads which is nice, but I can't say I was a fan of the salsa, just wasn't my kind of flavor, tasted like Ortega or something. Also oddly enough their mild salsa seemed almost spicier than the green or the habanero. I don't mind, I like spicy, I just found it odd they didn't seem like an option for someone who can't handle spicy considering their motto is "inauthentic" Mexican food. The layout of the place is very odd. You order from up front and then there is a full bar tucked away in the back where nobody is at. I felt bad for the bartender, he looked lonely. I didn't like the burrito, maybe because it was missing beans, or it just wasn't that good. It was also on the small side. When there are shrimp burritos in the area that are bigger, cheaper and better I don't know if I would go back, maybe to try the breakfast burrito, cause it sounded good, but yeah....I wasn't impressed.

Place was a little difficult to find because it only had a small sign to indicate it's location. Inside is very roomy, decorations were a little weird. Also has a full bar. Their SBC burrito and California Taco is a must. Came here during happy hour, also had $1 chicken, pork, and veggie tacos. Pork was delicious. I would definitely come back, still want to try that lobster burrito, but for $18?!

Not too sure about "bar, mexican" category but ok (hmm did i really miss a full bar here? yow!). This is a super duper casual joint in old town Monrovia. The decor is really cute and I love those ceilings. The menu was a tad confusing but i was also REALLY hangry . I ended up getting the California bowl (asada with tater tots, rice, black beans and sriracha sour cream and lime cilantro vinigrette dressing. yumz. Fresh, the beef was still slightly pink in the center - YES! My dad ordered the "street style" tacos - carne asada and carnitas. He was over the moon. All in all i'd definitely come back...maybe before a flick up the street.

Small budding cool chain from San Diego area known for its unauthentic tacos such as it's lobster chorizo and bacon taco. Their surf n turf taco (asada and shrimp) is the bomb. Their asada is really good and can compete against any taco truck out there but is even better as it doesn't contain some of the funky chewy pieces of beef that you might encounter even on the best taco trucks. Lean but tended carne asada. The siracha mayo sauce really punches things up. They prob have some of the best chicken tacos around. Shredded moist and flavorful. Their food is all about quality. Counter type service is fast and efficient. Industrial interiors of plywood tables, etc. Reminds you of having tacos down in corona del mar or esenada in a small hip cafe. Salsa and tortillas are some of the best. They also have burritos, bowls etc with choices of beans as well. Plus bottled beer. Plenty of nearby parking. Only challenge is you gotta look for it as it has no large storefront signage. A hidden gem and worth the find. Super friendly service too!

We passed by Bull Taco once while strolling in Old Town Monrovia. Today we got to finally try them! I had the pork burrito (carnitas style) and filled with rice and a little cilantro and onion. Portion was the burrito was okay, but there wasn't really a lot of flavor. Once I added the salsa the burrito tasted much better. I wouldn't say that the food was authentic Mexican, but you could tell the ingredients were fresh. If you were to compare it to places like Rubio's or Chipotle, the price is about the same but without chips or a salsa bar. If you want more bang for your buck, maybe try them for happy hour from 4-6pm (don't recall the days they do HH). We only saw one person manning the cashier, handing out salsa, and serving the food orders. Next time we'll try the tacos. Yelp 100 Challenge - 97 of 100

Finally tried this place out for their interesting tacos! It's a really cute place, first of all, and the poor server was swamped serving, manning the cash register and handing out salsas (the salsa deli is very cute and it is right next to the self-serve water pitchers), but she made it through the lunch rush. It is not very loud in here, even when there are groups and pretty much an option of 3 rooms you can sit in to eat. The Surf N Turf taco-- Shrimp and Carne Asada, and I thought it was just ok. It was not too flavorful and my coworkers who got the same thing agreed as well. The shrimp was grilled perfectly though! The SBC (Shrimp Bacon Chorizo) is on their specials for $4. Pretty much if you don't feel like spending $8 on ONE TACO (LBC -- Lobster Bacon Chorizo), you can get the SBC for HALF the price. I thought this was good, as the chorizo was quite salty and provided enough flavor for the whole taco. Those who got the asada, chicken, etc "standard" tacos were a bit disappointed, preferring instead to go to a legit Mexican joint, but BullTaco DID specify that they were inauthentic at the door. Though, you can get all the standards during HH for a pretty good price. The most disappointing part were the chips. Super soggy since they were DRENCHED in oil. I didn't even want to take a picture until my coworkers told me to towards the end. You add a bowl of these for $1 to your meal. I would probably skip it though. The salsas were all ok -- the habanero had quite the kick to it without setting your mouth super on fire. Did not try the Ghost Chili though. A cute place in the evening rather than lunch, as I would only be back if my friends dragged me back. I could see it being a great place to chill for a bit, kick back and have a beer during HH.

There aren't many good taco places in the SG Valley area.. So, BullTaco is definitely that nouveau taco spot that can serve as your go to. It's the type of spot that you find around beaches. Indeed, I'm impressed with the actual restaurant and how clean/edgy it is. But, the food could bring a bit more to the table (hehe). I ordered the Sriracha Burrito with some guac and chips and everything was just okay. I was hoping for more of a kick from the Sriracha sour cream sauce but it was pretty mild. On the other hand, my friend's tacos were apparently good. Will come back just to try the tacos!

I am so glad Bull Taco made it to LA! Already a huge fan after eating there in San Diego, I was excited to see that they now offer everything not only as a taco, but as a burrito, torta or bowl instead. The location here is cool, like the vibe. Service is super nice, but also super slow. My husband loved the surg&turf, the SBC (shrimp, bacon & chorizo) and the duck taco, I had the veggie and the curry shrimp, sub fish for shrimp and they were both amazing as well. Portions are small, but the flavors and proteins are so unique, it is well worth paying a bit more for. If you know exactly what you want, i would go with a bowl, torta or burrito, but if it your first time here, go all out and get one of each, all of them are AMAZING!

Seems like consistency can be an issue, but let's hope that gets resolved since I like coming here. 4.5 FOOD QUALITY: Afraid of a skinny burrito? Order a Californai burrito because that means Guacamole, Carne Asada, and TATTER TOTS! Giant sucker for tatter tots but this has maybe been one of the best burritos I've had, though that's not saying much since I haven't been able to enjoy many of Nate Silver's picks for the burrito bracket tournament. Regardless! Everything here has been full of intense buttery and meaty flavors with salsa and(/or) guacamole to cut the thickness down. The only drawback here is that the meats, while juicy, contains a lot of oil. Carnitas tacos do not disappoint as well since it falls apart so easily with porky, sweet juice and oil stored in the meat. ENVIRONMENT: it's very open and echo-y here so it can get pretty loud inside. Honestly, I feel like this place isn't fully decorated but at least it's clean and sleek. If I lived closer here, I would probably eat here too much..

This place is amazing. First of all the food is fresh, well seasoned, not greasy or fatty. They have a good selection of salsas and a great selection of items to choose from. There is something for vegetarians as well. Second thing I have to say is they have great customer service. We had an issue with one of the things we ordered and they quickly made a new one for us and gave us chips and salsa on the house for our trouble. Really nice and sincere about it and I appreciated it! I recommend it. Right in the heart of old town Monrovia. I'll definitely be back.

Had the Carne Asada Tacos and they were legitimately delicious! A little on the pricey side for something a little larger than street Tacos but they were yummy! Chips and salsa was also very good. The house margaritas are good, but nothing to write home about. Can't quite get the ambiance they're going for.... alternative music, skateboard decks on the wall, minimalist seating and let's not forget the dead animals on the wall. Theres alao a nice little bar that I'll have to try out next time. Give it a try!

Rating: I really want to give this place a higher rating, but as Stephanie P. would say... "It has some growing pains to work out". This place has been open for a couple of months and it shows that it's not ready for "PRIME" time! Rating will probably go up when I go again. This place has potential to be a Stars! Went here with Stephanie P. for lunch and to watch the Super Bowl. She was a good egg, eventhough she didn't really know what was going on. We had this agreement that she wouldn't talk to me when the game was on and I wouldn't talk to her when the commercial ads would come on. Our agreement didn't last long though, I kept on talking too darn much and I can't remember how many times she would shushhh me.... :( haha Anywho, lets get this review on the road. Location: Located in Downtown Monrovia. Ambiance/Decor: Pretty chill place to catch up with friends and hangout. From the looks of this place, there isn't much foot traffic. Most of the people that come here are mostly regulars. Decor is a bit interesting. Modern furnishings with artworks and nature stuff plastered on the walls. They also have a head of a deer that is stuffed on the wall and some kind of bird. Entertainment: They have two lcd tv's in the small bar area. One at the bar and the other one was a bigger tv located in the corner. The one in the corner did not work and the one at the bar was alright, but it would be better if the tv was raised. It was annoying trying to move our heads all the time to have a good luck at the tv, because the bartender would get in the way. It would also be nice if they also had a good sound system, it was hard listening to the game when people at the bar would be talking. Pricing: Pricing of their food are a bit high. Most of their tacos are $2.50 and up. They do have some create tacos and burritos on their menu. I'll probably go when they have happy hour. Service: Service was decent. The staffers/bartenders (Samantha and Dena) were very attentive, friendly, and was very informative of this place and its menu. Negatives were that they closed the kitchen early. They closed their kitchen about an hour into the game. The reason for this was because they weren't making enough to keep the cooks there. Food: They had Superbowl specials. I took advantage of their $1 tacos (Chicken, Pork, and Carne Asada) and $1... 1/2 order of nachos before the kitchen closed early. The tacos had a decent amount of meat and were flavorful and moist. Nachos were okay also. Love the cheese that they put on top. After the kitchen closed, they were giving out chips and salsa, nachos, and chips with avocado for free. I wanted chips with avocado, but the avocado's that they had left were still were ripe... so they decided not to serve us them. Overall, I had a okay experience. I would definitely come back to try more tacos and hopefully by the time I come back they'll be able to improved on their growing pains to be a better bar/restaurant.

Great tacos that don't leave you feeling heavy. Great salsa including harbenero. Tostadas were great as well. Don't get me started on the Tator Tots, yum! I thought Frida's in Pasadena was good, this is bomb! Frida you got moded! Service was great! With a smile!

First time trying this place yesterday (4/26) around 7pm. The girl that took our order was really nice and helpful. I had three small tacos ( chicken & carne asada) and shared an order of carne asada tater tots.. Those were soo good! Cute atmosphere ! Will be coming back!! :)

I have been here a couple times and I'm really not sure what everyone is so impressed with here. It's okay, but nothing amazing. There are so many restaurants in the area and this place is fairly mediocre.* Both times I came here they were out of duck (Come on-- I just want some duck!!!) which was disappointing. I've tried almost every taco on the menu and they were okay. I was not impressed with the surf n' turf taco or small plate of slaw for $7. The carne asada is probably my favorite of the ones I've tried and the vegetarian taco is pretty good too. Last time I tried the fancy nachos with chicken and they were good, but I'm not sure I'd call them fancy-- most nachos come with cheese, sour cream & guacamole, right? The first time I came her I was in the mood for wine and that was a bad choice. The wine selection (three at the time, unless they changed it) was horrendous!! So, I learned my lesson and ordered beer the next visit. The happy hour is pretty good. The early happy hour has $1 tacos and drink specials and then it starts up again with late night happy hour that has drink specials til closing. I will say that the bartender, Dina, was very nice and attentive. She is by far the best part of my experience here. BONUS: Free chips and salsa when you sit at the bar. *My review is based on the two times I have come here and I know that sometimes in the beginning there are a few bumps along the way, so I will stop by again and I am willing to amend my review if it improves.

Finally got to try this place and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I mean, the name doesn't make entirely too much sense, but the food is very good. All the tacos are very good, and go great with their homemade sauces that range in spice intensity and flavor. Biggest Hit: Fish Burrito (a surprise) - I didn't think I'd enjoy this much, but it was very flavorful. Biggest Disappointment: Carne Asada Nachos. They weren't horrible, but the concept is way better than the execution. Its very heavy and doesn't have a particularly good flavor profile. The negatives of this location (and I don't know if they carry through to other locations or not) are as follows. 1) The place is under staffed. We went on a Friday night, so naturally it was busy. They had one person running the front (not counting the bartender on the side who didn't take food orders or bring out food. So this one poor girl (who was very sweet and super efficient) had to do everything herself. One person can only do so much, so it did take longer to get things (like salt, or extra sauce etc). 2) the place doesn't really know what its identity is. It's sort of minimalist, but also has these dramatic flares here and there, but then they're selling tacos to a mostly young (and very loud) crowd. They also don't use there space very efficiently. You could fit several more tables if you got rid of one of the doors. 3) there is no beer on tap just yet. This negative can/will obviously be fixed in due time. Overall, however, still a really good experience. I'd definitely go back, especially to try a breakfast burrito.

Restaurant Devon is now a Bull Taco. How lucky are we to have this beachy cool casual restaurant in Monrovia now? So far we've tried several tacos, the taters and cocktails. Full bar, flavorful and interesting tacos and friendly service. The decor is very artsy and open. You will find me here often, enjoying some fun food and having a glass of wine or margarita. Looks like there are daily specials, a happy hour and late night eats for after a movie. My kids loved the place and ate Duck tacos, surf and turf tacos and chicken tater tots. Delicious salsas ranging from mild to ghost pepper. Eat here.

I wanted so badly to enjoy this place!!!! I'm legitimately sad that I am so disappointed. They should take the California burrito off their menu immediately. This is an insult to the California burrito name. The menu said the burrito contained rice I ordered two and neither had rice. The menu also said the burrito had guacamole, I saw a tinge to green in the burrito which I assume was guac but I didn't taste it. To make things worse the tater tots were NASTY, they made the entire burrito taste like grease. I had to drown the burrito in green salsa to make it edible. The feelings of sadness that I mention above have now subsided and I am pissed. I want my money back! This place is just plain gross!

I come to this place two to three times a week 'cause I love this place so dang much. I love the food and I dig the people who run this place. Met the new bar tender Jon. He's a local. Super cool guy. Very professional and responsible. He watched my drinking to make sure I didnt get too turnt . He offered me water after my fourth shot. He also kicked a patron out for acting too obnoxious and weirding out an other patron. Great energy behind the bar. Also met Eric who helps run this place and is also one of the cooks with Bob. He Is also the brother of another employee here named Jessica (very good worker/bar tender as well). All are very very very good people at Bull Taco. Can't wait till this place gets more popular.

New taco place in Monrovia!! We tried several. Chicken was tender and had great seasoning. Asada taco was tasty, the meat was a little tough, but we also had the California taco & the meat in that one was tender. I had the verde salsa to add to my tacos. Since they are pre-aliquoted, and I usually don't add that much salsa, I wish there were more chips so I could finish the salsa. I should've asked but I didn't want to seem needy. Other salsas include: ghost pepper, habanero, mild and I think one more but I can't remember it. Overall, I'm glad this restaurant opened up. I can't wait to go back and try their burritos!! And the Korean BBQ taco sounded tasty so I'll definitely try that next! Bonus: they have a full bar!! And serve different bottled and canned beers, as well as jarritos , sodas & juices. Oh, we also got free bunuelos the night we went. Yay to a new business that serves very delicious food!!

The food is amazing. I just get irritated of the hours they are open. Closed on Mondays, closed for a two week vacation, etc. My favorite is the Sriracha honey shrimp burrito, yum!! Their chips and guacamole are also really good.

So what drew me to this place was the LBC (lobster, bacon, chorizo) taco. And boy, it was GOOD. It did cost $8 dollars, but that's understandable considering the ingredients. I did try some of their other tacos, and I categorize them as just alrite. The carne asada was pretty dry, hence the -1 star. I came for lunch on a Sunday, so it was pretty empty. I did notice that there was a bar area on the side, so maybe this place gets poppin' at night?

  • Les L.

On the one hand, I really liked the tacos from this San Diego chain. On the other, I hated paying for them. A taco lunch for 3 people set me back $30!! Everything was really fresh tasting and made of quality ingredients. For the basic 3: the carne asada was flavorful, pork was tender, chicken was moist. They do pretty creative things with their shrimp tacos as well, like combining it with carne asada for a surf and turf, dousing them with curry powder in the "shrimp curry" taco, or adding a lot of smoky flavor with bacon and a soyrizo ("the SBC"). The salsas are good too. I mighly recommend the tangy verde and the spicy, but doable, habanero. The mild is forgettable and if you are really feeling risky, the ghost pepper. But like I said, the prices are way, way up there and I don't often feel like splurging on tacos.

Decent street tacos for Myrtle. The ambience is kind of cold and juxtaposed to the warm yumminess of tacos, but I guess that's not a huge deal.

What is it with Monrovia and restaurants? We keep trying to find a place to eat locally with good food and there are none to be found! We ordered take-out, I had a pork burrito and hubby ordered the pork bowl, and we split the chips & salsa. The burrito was dry and bland...pork and rice thrown into a tortilla. The meat, beans, rice were all ICE COLD in the pork bowl and it completely flavorless. The chips had a weird almost metallic aftertaste. Their salsas were odd, the green had a sweet taste to it. There were no customers in the place and now we know why. We will NOT be back.

  • Trevor J.

Chicken burrito is very good! Happy hour special with the tacos are very well priced and you can easily eat your fill for a reasonable price. Looking at other reviews I noticed people mentioning price and it is a little bit pricier, but we go to this place instead of Chipotle due to the proximity and preferring to help a start up business that has promise. Hope this place continues to get good reviews and if you want a nice time to try, come during HH

So sad and disappointed. We need some more good food in Monrovia. We were so excited to try this new burrito/taco joint. Only to be disappointed. There was no one in the place when we got there. An odd time. We ordered 2 fish bowls. They were $8 each which is average but ended up being really tiny. Too much rice hardly any other items. Average amount of fish. Not much flavor. The sauces are homemade so I was excited only to be bummed out again. They will only give you 2 tiny containers of salsa each, not sure why so stingy. Again not much flavor. Too bad We saw they have a small bar in there as well. The decor was unusual. Very disjointed and nothing made sense. We really wanted this place to be good. Just an odd experience. We will not return.

Wanted to love this place as monrovia needs some new places, but it wasn't as great as I had hoped. I had a couple tacos and my boyfriend had a burrito special. While the food was good, It was way overpriced for what you get. If I'm paying this much, I at least expect unlimited salsa. But no, they keep it behind the counter and only give you two small containers. I did think the decor was kind of cool, very abstract/modern. I would probably come back for happy Hour as I've heard they have some great deals!

First time eating at Bull Taco. Unfortunately I wasn't very impressed. Decor is stark and unwelcoming almost a clinical feel to the place. I had the Duck Quesadilla. The Duck was tasty but portion skimpy. Also only a few pieces of shredded cheese (Isn't a Quesadilla all about the cheese?) and a few pieces of diced onion. Not at all worth $10. My husband had the shrimp bowl. They should actually call it the Bay Shrimp Bowl. There were a few black beans tossed in, a few grains of rice and a couple leaves of lettuce... Certainly not worth $9. The portion was so small it looked like someone ate half of it before they served it. Plastic utensils and dishes... but Chandelier hanging from the ceiling? Don't think we'll be going back!

It feels like an overpriced food truck ran into a bar. Food is not great and way to expensive for what you get I would understand the price if the food was good but it's just not. Really wanted to like it but falls way too short

We wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, we had a horrible experience. We waited for over 35 mins to get 2 chicken tacos that were tasteless. Not enough staff for a busy street fair Friday night. Out of self serve water, out of cups. After 45 mins, we have not gotten the rest of our food, we decided to leave. Employee did not seem to care.

This is a really unique restaurant. They have pretty sick art all over the walls and ceilings. It just looks cool. Apparently, there's an original location in San Diego. I think this place should be more popular than it appeared though. I went in on a rainy Sunday morning, so that's probably why it was dead. But the place is huge and looks very promising. The menu isn't your typical taco joint. They have tater tots in the burritos and tacos! I fucking love tots! But it's a little on the pricey side. $9 for a regular sizes burrito is out of control. But it tasted good so I can't totally hate. Should be like $7 tops though. They do have a daily happy hour from 4-6pm with $1 tacos and drink specials, so maybe I'll just come back then. The host/cashier/server girl accidentally double charged us for our tacos, but then double refunded us, so that was awesome. Albeit an accident, but still awesome. Even gave us a free taco for shits and giggles. Still gotta go back to try the bar and other food items. But all in all, good experience.

We were really looking forward to Bull Taco as a recent addition to Old Town Monrovia, but it didn't meet our expectations. We got the Fancy Nachos with chicken and the Pork Torta. The Fancy Nachos came with a good portion of Guacamole, but the two cheeses accompanying it weren't great. The nacho cheese had a weird taste and the shredded cheese wasn't melted. And there wasn't much chicken even though you pay to add it on. The Pork Torta was OK. The bread was very good, but there wasn't much else there. The place looks cool and is pretty big. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be going back.

You have to try the lobster taco. I have had almost every taco on the menu and you can't go wrong. They have a bar area also so it's nice to have a drink and taco. Happy hour is pretty good but don't cheat yourself from trying all the others that's on the menu.

Delicious street tacos. I stopped by for a quick lunch and got my food quickly. I had the Surf N' Turf and the Carne Asada tacos. Both were good and a fair price. I've noticed they have a great happy hour! Will definitely be back.

I'm from out of town but come to Arcadia-Monrovia area quite often on business. I try to go to Bull Taco at least once during the week. They were closed for vacation a couple of weeks ago and today Monday even though their web site says they're open once again they're closed. The Nachos are very good as well as their tacos. But until they decide to be a full time business there are so many other options in Monrovia.

What a great new place in Monrovia. Hip little vibe in this taco joint/ bar. Stopped in after hearing about it from a co worker. Ordered a couple beers and the carne Asada bowl and a salmon Dill taco. Loved everything. The bowl seems pretty healthy and all super fresh and they make all their own sauces and salsas. Really enjoyed it and will be back. Oh and a great happy hour 4-6 and 9-10 everyday !

It's so convenient to have such a great place to eat after a movie-date. The food was terrific, the service friendly and fast. The Santa Fe salad with chicken was incredible - best salad I've had in a long time. I almost tried to buy the dressing to take home. It didn't hurt that I could have a Bloody Mary with the dinner :) I can't wait to go back. Great food.

  • Bear R.

The food is not Mexican food. A pork burrito is dirty New Orleans style rice, Sichuan pepper pork and a smattering of cheese. That is it. The quesadilla of chicken is odd pieces of gristle, dry and old chicken, little cheese and a lot of oil from the tray that they scoop the meat from. It was inedible. If this sounds appetizing then eat up.

I don't have any complaints, but I don't have anything to rave about either. I had the pork, chicken, and duck tacos, and they were all decent enough, but didn't blow my mind. I thought they all could have been dressed up a little more. More sauce, more topping, or maybe even an unconventional, more creative topping, especially for the duck. Chips are quite tasty. I'll get the nachos next time just to have more chips. The ambience here could use some work. Felt like I was eating in an abandoned cafeteria of sorts. There was no life in that room off to the right. Beautiful copper lighting, and interesting artwork, but something was severely lacking in the dining area itself, but I'm not sure what. Overall, a successful trip and I will return one of these days. But I'm not in any rush.

Dog food. Ordered the 'surf and turf bowl' (with "steak" and "shrimp"). Tiny undercooked/translucent shrimp, hard/chewy/fatty meat, hard crunchy rice, and no flavor. I guess there was a reason it was completely dead on a Saturday night.

$1.00 tacos during happy hour! Good tacos, cheesy tater tots, cool vibe, and excellent customer service. Plus free parking. What more could you ask for?

Brandon, the bartender, awesome. Tacos are killer. The PBJ (pork bacon jalapeño ) tacos and shrimp bacon chorizo tacos are fantastic. Great place. Great flavors. Open to constructive comments. Love this place.

Very cute, fun place to go! Happy hour makes it totally worth it. Left full and enjoyed the low priced happy hour drinks. I definitely recommend it to those who love Mexican food and low prices. The staff was lovely as well.

Small, quaint spot in Old Town Monrovia. I love this place. Food is garbage, but the drinks are always flowing and the bartenders are super cool. Daddy is here at least once every other week.

skinniest burrito i can remember... my wife and i was going to check out the new salad bowl place on Myrtle but decided to pass and wound up in Bull Taco, which is also new to us. It used to be an Italian or French restaurant, we've noticed recent change to a taco/burrito joint, thought to give it a try. We ordered a special burrito for like $8.5 and my wife ordered two chicken taco for $1/ea during happy hour, plus one bud light and 1/2 order nachos rang up to $16+. when the food came, i told my wife "i might have to eat a pack of instant ramen when we go home" it is too skinny a burrito for $8.50, and there isn't anything special either. any Mexican restaurants on/around Myrtle beat the price and the quality, I think. We gave it a shot, it is going to be hard with the choices on Myrtle for us to ever go back there again.

This is a great little place with 3 rooms, one with a nice bar. Here's how I'd rank the food I've tried here so far: Breakfast burritos: 5+ (fantastic!) Carne asada tator tots: 5 Carne asada quesadilla: 5 Carne asada tacos: 4.5 Pork tacos: 3

Place is a joke. Tried 3 times before to get food and they always close early. Today, they have a band or something and want 10 cover. I just want food. Can't get, again, and I'm done thinking about this place.

How can you screw up a burrito? They are just not that difficult! By putting bottom of the pan hard as a rock, overly seasoned rice in it! It was toward the end of the evening, but come on...either serve good food or don't serve anything! The only reason i am giving them two stars instead of 1 is because the people were nice. I hate giving bad reviews, but the food was really bad. I'm hoping you'll read this review and do some quality control!

Eclectic spot that was the old Devon. Signage is tough to see so look for the green awning that still says "Devon". Food is fresh and the combinations are interesting. The Don Wayne is amazing! I get it as a bowl instead of a burrito. There is a full bar, however it seems to be a side note to the restaurant as it is tucked away to the side/corner. Overall I like the place & have found the service to be friendly and efficient.

food is good but damn expensive... came also for happy hr and i have been over charged twice on the food. i didnt say anything until i calculated the price of 3 tacos and a beer afterwards on my own. realized they charged me more then $1 per taco when its supposed to be $1 each. happened on 2 seperate visits. ask for the receipt and check back on your own. if they continue the practice, they will end up swindling extra money out of ur pocket. i figure $2 overage is no big deal, but it does become an issue if everytime i come it happens. they use an ipad for their register and dont have a system in place to calculate happy hr prices. they try to subtract each item in their head and then they input it into the final total.

holy cow this place was good. we went for happy hour (4-7pm), $1 tacos (chicken, pork, veggie). super fresh! the veggie taco was definitely my favorite with hominy, corn, red peppers, cheese and guac. really cool décor, very hip for monrovia. if i didn't know better i would have thought we were sitting in a rad taco shop on the beach. nice employees, good music. we will definitely be there again soon.

Very good food....menu items are a little unique but everything was delicious. California taco has tater tots in it instead of fries.

I liked the service and drinks, but the food left a lot to be desired. I like the chandeliers, but the skateboards and stuffed animals on the wall were stupid.

We finally stopped by to try this. I agree with another reviewer; I just don't share the enthusiasm about this place. My husband had the shrimp curry burrito; though it had some flavor, it wasnt anything to write home about. Most of it was clumped in the middle, leaving old rice at each end. I had asada tacos which were tender but quite bland, and the side of rice was hard and dry as if it had been sitting in a pot warming all day. The salsa was also quite runny and bland. We gave it a generous two stars for the fresh chips. Usually we give places another try before writing them off but this time we will pass...

Great new place. Spacious and clean. Cool bar and lots of top shelf liquor. The employees were helpful and friendly. The curry shrimp was delicious! As were the carne asada tater tots. I will definitely return!

You know what's awesome? Duck tacos. You know what's not awesome? Calling to order a duck taco on a Friday night when you've been thinking about the deliciousness of said duck taco for several hours only to be told that your local DUCK TACO specialist is out of duck. Since I have tried their other taco options and have been disappointed, I opted for a bean and cheese burrito since it was advertised on Bull Taco's menu as having rice and cilantro. Bull Taco could be aptly named Bull S$&t Tacos since that's what my burrito was. Mediocre, runny, unenhanced bulls&@it. My husband ordered their special cheese tots and those were soggy, yucky bulls$&t too. I am giving them one extra star from my previous experience with elusive duck taco.

Everything from the food to the service and to the alcohol is on point. Like that they have a special of the day and I don't have to go to all these wack other spots in the area. Bull taco plays no bull shit !

Walked in the other night after we couldn't decide where to eat. We had the trainer bowl and the nachos with asada. People..... Let me tell you, this place is amazing! I am Mexican so I know how good asada should taste, and this passed the test. The girl at the front counter was super helpful. We will definitely be back :) I'm already salivating for the nachos again.

Quaint awesome spot for inauthentic Mexican food. Food was great but the best part were the salsas. Loved the habanero salsa but fell in love with the ghost pepper salsa.

I used to live in Oceanside and LOVED Bull Taco down there. To my surprise, they just opened one up here in Monrovia! It's just off Myrtle on the north side of Lemon next to the barber. The food was just as GREAT as I'm used to in their San Diego county locations. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and it was a great size and tons of shredded chicken. It's an order at the counter place, but has plenty of seating to enjoy dinner there or at the bar! I will be a frequent visitor here!

Best tacos in Monrovia. Gourmet style tacos, lots of great options like lobster, Chimichurri, carnitas, jicama...just to name a few. I really enjoyed the carne asada taco, the pork with perfect amount of crispiness, and Chimmichurri. A bit on the pricy side, but delicious. Good beer too.

Everything fresh and tasty. Nine dollars for a beer, even for a craft beer, is a rip off, especially in a casual place where you eat out of a paper tray and don't get any silverware. From ordering to food on the table was less than five minutes, which was what I was hoping for tonight, but the prices are pretty high for food that takes only four minutes to prepare. On the other hand, it is just steps from my house, service was friendly and attentive, and I like tacos! So I will be back.

Cool place with great food! Seems like the restaurant is split in half: 1 side has a small bar and the other side is like a fast food restaurant. So I guess it's whatever you're in the mood for that day. The carne asada taco was epic! I'll be back

Great new taco place! BullTaco has tons of creative options as well as variations on the classics. I highly recommend the California burrito. The asada is juicy and flavorful, the guacamole is fresh and delicious, and the tator tots send this burrito over the top. They also have unusual combinations like the LBC (lobster, bacon, chorizo) and spicy shrimp with sriracha sour cream. I would skip the shrimp, it's nothing special, and opt for the fish tacos. Grilling the fish gives it a smokier flavor that really helps it stand up to the salsa of your choosing like habanero or ghost pepper. Try the cheesy tots- they're an indulgence and massive. Definitely shareable. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere that's great for lunch or an easy dinner. They also have a late night happy hour with a discounted menu. The bar area is great for watching a game. Dina is the best bartender! She makes a mean margarita and will even suggest off the menu special orders if you're up for trying something new. Definitely worth a try! There's something for everyone!

Excited about a new taco place! BullTaco is nice and clean with a lot of potential. The food was tasty however my hubby and I both agreed that it was heavy on the salt. The rice was pretty awful...bland, cold and hard, but that won't deter me. Looking forward to trying their breakfast which is served all day...yeah! Service was friendly, but choppy. They have a few things to iron out, but I'm sure they will be a well oiled machine in no time!

the layout is odd and decor in this place does not really have a clear identity. the menu is the same. what does it want to be? it's understaffed and often out of food. How can you be out of chicken in a taco joint? the shrimp is bay shrimp , who does that? The portions are skimpy. The food tasted ok.

Where to start. I'll be brief. The bar is woefully under stocked and is mostly near empty bottles. They don't have the basics. The "bartender" wasn't adept behind the bar or making drinks. She took a long time to get one drink out. We waited for 10 minutes in front of an empty cash register for someone to greet us and take our order. The food came out one dish at a time so that one person was done eating before another got their food. I had to ask about dishes I ordered because they weren't brought out. After waiting for our food for almost 30 minutes and after paying for it, they ran out of tortillas. They also ran out of glasses. Weird, I know. Why not wash some?? The guacamole was too tart and made our mouths pucker. I ordered the carne asada bowl which contained fatty greasy beef which was over cooked, canned black beans, over boiled rice and some lettuce. The Rancho Salad had more of the same without the meat, but with canned corn. The servers were nice, but aloof and not attentive in the least. I was wandering around the restaurant for around 5 minutes looking for salt. This all made me wonder what was going on in the kitchen. It seems like this restaurant doesn't have enough capital to keep it adequately stocked. The food is terrible too. We will not be returning.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
