I live in Texas. I've been to Mexico many times. As much as I like Mexican food I think I may have been Mexican in my previous life. This is simply a great Mexican Restaurant. You may have to take a double take at what I just posted because this place is located on a Golf Driving Range and near San Francisco. Sorry San Francisco and driving ranges I just don't think of Mexican Restaurants at either one of these two places. Scratch that. I do now!

Not sure what the hype is about this place. Location is unique but when you're eating chips with salsa that tastes like marinara sauce, the novelty wears off pretty fast. We tried to order guacamole but were told the restaurant was "out," which immediately made me wonder how fresh the rest of the food was. My husband got a burrito and I got a quesadilla supreme, and both were mediocre. I might have a high bar for Mexican food being from Texas originally, but I wouldn't recommend this place!

Well my fault for giving this place a second try. I decided to order takeout, so I didn't have to sit in a torn up booth overlooking unbussed tables. I used the order carryout link on their Yelp page and ordered guac and a burrito. When I walked in I stated that I had placed an online order and the guy said they didn't get my order or something. When I showed him the email confirmation he looked at his computer and asked if what he read was my order. I replied that was indeed my order. He then went on to say that they don't do online orders and they were out of guacamole anyway. Really?! Needless to say I didn't get a takeout order and won't try this a third time.

Tucked in a golf center, this mexican restaurant is a hidden gem. There isnt much around this area and this place stands out. I had a very fancy looking steak quesadilla that was great. Guacamole is very good as well as their green salsa. The view is very nice as well.

  • Brad E.

It feels a little weird giving a Mexican restaurant that is attached to a driving range five stars but this place is legit. We had chips and salsa to start. The chips were just ok but the green salsa (served warm) was terrific. The red salsa was also good. I ordered the steak quesadilla. It was absolutely beautiful. These guys really care about presentation. The quesadilla was served w a salsa verde coating and drizzled w sour cream. Very flavorful. I really enjoyed it. My kids had the airplane burrito and butterfly quesadilla (both look like you'd expect). They were not only fun to look at but tasted good. If you're looking for great Mexican near SFO, give this place a shot.

Wow. Its off the beaten path; hidden next to a golf range and soccer complex; and serves ice cold Coronas! Of course I will love it. The food is fresh and authentic. If the location was changed, they could double the prices. I had Rosi's Special. I had to attach a picture as nobody will believe how much thought went into presentation. The flavors of seasoned meat, onions, and mushrooms will make your toes curl as you scoop it up with homemade tortillas. Yum! You gotta go. Gotta!

  • Pamela G.

Loved this place when we were on vacation in San Fransisco. We actually came here twice it was sooo good. We both got the chicken quesadillas both times. They really take pride in making their food look just as beautiful as it tastes. It is very unassuming as it is in the corner of a golf course store but don't let that deter you!!! It is well worth it. We met the owner the last time we were in and he is so friendly and very passionate about his restaurant. You can really truly feel the love and passion he puts into his food.

  • Kerry K.

Totally off the beaten path! Go into the building from the parking lot and it is on left! Very clean inside and a lot of seating! We ordered the steak fajitas and chicken tacos! Both were filled generous with meat and spiced well! Deliciouso! We will be back!!!!

I'm a little conflicted on how to rate this place. When we first walked in, the girls and I decided to partake in happy hour. For one, the guy taking our order wasn't friendly. When I ordered a corona, he reluctantly got it from the cooler and opened it as he walked back to the register....with no lime! Don't our coronas, here in the US at least, come with limes? I asked him about a lime and he rolled his eyes and gave me a lemon. The chips that came with the salsa were disgusting. Oily cardboard chips.yuck. For our meals, while the presentation was quite extensive, only because it was drenched in sour cream! The cook even made sure to take a pic of my order before giving it to me?! To put on yelp or wherever else I presume. Sounds like desperation to me. The Guac that came with my salad was pea sized. What's the point of even mentioning that my salad comes with guac? While many of you may love calorie laden food drenched in sour cream, I do not. I live in Texas and eat Mexican all the time, more then I'd like to admit. This place, however, is not as great as all the reviews claim to be.

This place is like a hidden treasure you wouldn't know it was there. Food was good and spicy. We had the chicken quesadilla and fajitas the presentation was beautiful. Definitely a place to go

Yelp doesn't usually get it wrong......but man are they way off on this one. They use marinara sauce for salsa.... What more can I say

  • Kelsey C.

No guacamole??? At a Mexican restaurant? What's even the point? Also, no margaritas.

    (2)
  • Kari K.

Just had our first taste of Gabriel & Daniel's Mexican Grill via DoorDash. Holy cow. Everything was so fresh and had amazing flavor. I would order again just for the guacamole! We will be ordering again....and again.... Hands down the best Mexican food in the area.

    (5)
  • Kevin L.

Four star joint but I'm removing a star for its sporadic random days of "no guacamole today"... Such a huge let down. They really have spectacular food and guacamole in this hidden hideaway of a Mexican place. It's a bummer when there's no guac (call ahead?) but it's always worthwhile to stop in and grab a bite here. Esp if ur staying at one of the nearby hotels. Wouldn't call it a restaurant exactly, as ur ordering ur food at the counter, and it's brought to your table, what few tables are available are cleaned off by the guys working the counter so turn over may be slow. The chips are fresh but the red sauce does taste mysteriously similar to marinara sauce.

  • Jes G.

Okay, this place gets the benefit of the doubt. The only reason that I wouldn't give them five stars is the location. Seriously. If you ever have to eat in the pro-shop of a driving range, you'll doubt whether you should give five stars or not, too. However, taking that aside, the food here was incredible. The service was top notch, and the food was delicious. I went in with next to no expectations due to the location, and yet it blew me away. Plus, as you can see from all the photos, the cooks there enjoy the presentation of the food as much as the cooking and serving of it. This is the most random and yet best priced for the food serving place that you'd never expect. Totally worth it to head over here and enjoy a great meal!

  • MJ A.

These are some fancy looking dishes, what with the exuberant use of the sour cream squirter. I ordered a two tacos platter and couldn't help but think how neat the radial design was of the sour cream splashed over the black beans. While the food was good, I think the need to "design" the dishes leads to an overuse of sour cream and cheese. In the end, this meant a salty Mexican dish, more on the Americanized-chain side of the spectrum (not so much Taco bell, but maybe La Salsa) with very little actual meat in the tacos. At $12 dollars, two small tacos should come with more meat.

  • William C.

Great service. Owner saw that we didn't really know what the menu items were so he showed us pictures and explained in detail. Great chips and guacamole. Awesome quesadilla.

  • Garner M.

Very, very tasty and fresh Mexican food. The place is simple, but the food isn't -- it's absolutely top notch Mexican food, and the presentation is very appealing. I had the steak a la pimiente ($12), which was fairly spicy (as advertised). Chips and salsa were included, and with a soda, lunch came to $15. I can't wait to return and try something else. These guys truly know what they're doing in the kitchen!

On the way home from the airport we stopped at Gabriel & Daniel's Mexican Grill. Due to the lack of signage, it took us a while to figure out where it was among the buildings nearby. It ended up being very literally the restaurant within the golfing center--the place where you pick up your clubs. The chips were cold and disappointing, but we were still hopeful. We ordered the following: ***ALAMBRES - Grilled steak or chicken with bacon, onion, bell pepper, ham, cheese, salsas, guacamole, pico de gallo, sour cream, & corn tortillas The plating was absolutely gorgeous as you can see in the pictures, with the entrees served neatly, symmetrically, colorfully, and garnished with a delicate web of sour cream and drops of sauces. But wait, there's more! The flavor of the Alambres was just melt-in-your-mouth delicious and creamy. It tasted like the food you can get in nicer restaurants in Quintana Roo. ***TACOS - Two tacos served on corn tortillas with choice of steak or chicken. Topped with tomatillo sauce, pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream, & guacamole We actually got our tacos with fish (I think it was handwritten on the board), which ended up being a little fishy and contained some pieces of bone that I had to remove. And I wasn't a big fan of the handful of chopped lettuce. So that kinda spoiled any fun I might have had with the rest of it. Looking back, I think it would have been wise to stick to the dishes containing land-roaming creatures. ALL IN ALL: It was quite nice, especially the Alambres, and I would recommend a visit.

Amazing food with probably the best presentation of Mexican cuisine I have ever seen. Do not let the location fool you. This is a group of people who are serious about their food. I will always plan a stop here when in town.

Amazing food. Probably the best burrito I've had. And not busy at all since its secluded. Will definitely come here again.

Was looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant around the SF airport area. Could not believe it when I saw this recommendation for G&D's. Didn't even trust the reviews because I thought they must have been written by a bunch of misinformed non-Mexican folks. Boy was I wrong! This place was great -- amazing salsa (especially the verde) and then topped off with beautifully presented dishes that definitely had the best of Mexican flavors. I had the Pimienta which was excellent but I wouldn't recommend for most people b/c it was super spicy. But everything was great (so my tablemates said) and the service was super too. Don't miss it!!!

  • Brian N.

Good Mexican is hard to find around these parts, but thankfully yelp turned me on to this little gem! Don't be concerned that its at a golf center or that there are no signs outside the building. Once you get to the food you are in for a treat. The best way I can describe the food is authentic Mexican meets gourmet - incredible! make sure you try the desert, ice cream with fried banana. New favorite!

  • David W.

I must tell you that my dining experience here at this hidden gem was exceptional! I was in town on business and had a huge craving for some mexican food. I Yelped, and found Gabriel and Daniel's Mexican Grill listed with very high marks. Now I should let you know that this place is actually within golf shop right next to the Doubletree Hotel. Don't let this turn you away because then you will truly miss out. I ordered the steak burrito. Pretty basic, right? This burrito was wrapped in a red flour tortilla, presented in a way that only one who loves to cook could present their dish. Very good food. The sauses are perfect! The atmosphere was pleasant even though one of the tables was a bit loud... Why shouldn't they be? They were enjoying a nice meal with friends. Gabriel is a very nice gentleman who truly loves what he does. I would highly recommend that you stop in and see Gabriel and Daniel. You won't regret it! Happy Eating!

My wife and I were a bit skeptical when we walked in with our twin 4-year olds. The place is hard to find and doesn't look like much, but wow, the food is awesome. We ordered a Rosie's special that was both beautiful and delicious and a quesadilla for the children that was the same. One of the guys noticed that the quesadilla was too hot for my daughter and unprompted, he brought a less spicy quesadilla and small burrito configured like a butterfly. The presentation is outstanding. We will definitely go back and recommend this to all our friends.

  • Rachel H.

The best Mexican food I've ever had. I love margaritas and their mango margarita is excellent. This is hard to find but, worth it! They do not have a sign. We were so impressed by the presentation, taste, and temperature of the food. We had all courses and loved every one. I can't believe this is not a huge restaurant. It is so impressive too that this used to just be a snack bar at the driving range! If you like Mexican food, you'll love this place!

    (5)
  • Elsie D.

This is a fabulous restaurant with even better service. Rosie's is our favorite, but it's all good. Today we ordered fried bananas after lunch. We waited for a long time but didn't see the gent in the kitchen making our dessert. So, we figured they had forgotten and headed to the parking lot. The cook behind the counter abandoned the grill and ran us down in the lot. He asked if we still wanted dessert. His colleague Was at Safeway to buying our bananas! Amazing!!! That's the service we always get here.

So I really had high hopes for this grill because of all the rave reviews. I was excited to bring my family and my parents here for their anniversary. We got there and there was the cook/chef busy on the grill. We picked our seats, grabbed the menu and then few minutes later went to place the order with the cook. He gave me my first order which was the chips. Chips were not warm at all...tasted stale so that was the first disappointment. Secondly, we didn't even know that our orders were ready because no one told us. Our orders were just sitting out there. I must say the presentation was pretty. It seems like the chef took the time to decorate and make it very presentable BUT my food was COLD by the time we got it. The food itself was average. The ambiance was ok. I guess somehow I had high expectations after I read the reviews. I was waiting for the owner to deliver the food and ask us how we like it---but we didn't get any of that! Definitely not coming back...Am I glad I tried it? Not really..I feel like it was a waste of our time and money going there.

  • John F.

Saw all the great reviews but was disappointed. First of all, they need to offer a smaller dish for less moolah. I got the tacos which was twice as much food and $ as I wanted to pay. Waited a long, long time, overate kinda cold tacos that were only OK and don't plan to return. If he puts some smaller stuff on the menu (like Pancho Villa does) and charges less, I would go every week. the stuff is pretty, I will give them that, I give them 3 stars. Beautiful views and pretty cool place otherwise. Oh, the prices were different on different menus and then he charged me a different price from either menu, but I think that was a discount for waiting so long (but, alas, it would have been nice hot)

  • Alison K.

Incredibly nice. People don't come much better. The food is great too. When I first arrived, I was surprised by the setting. Kind of like a fast food place seating area. Once I got past that, I found the food to be greast. The presentation is beautiful and again not what you expect. I wasn't sure I got the right order because I have never seen fajitas presented that way, but it was great. I would love everyone to patronize G&D because I think they will be able to move to a better surrounding, A bigger place, a full service restaurant that looks like a full service restaurant. The owners go out of their way to make your visit wonderful and I hope we can return the favor and make their restaurant wonderful.

Wow. This restaurant at the Burlingame Golf Center is worth going to whether you golf or not. It is some of the best, most creative, beautiful food (of any type) I have had in a long time (and I live in SF, and eat out all the time!). We tried the taco salad, quesadilla suprema (steak), burrito, and one of Gabriel's specialties yesterday ( and the fried banana dessert with ice cream and caramel), and I am craving everything so badly I'm pretty sure I'm going to HAVE to go back for more this week! This food is beyond fresh and beyond delicious. Gabriel was making his homemade salsas in the blender with fresh ingredients (tomatillos, cilantro) yesterday when I was there. Amazing. I'd give the food 10 starts if it were an option. He also does catering and I've signed him up for a board meeting at my office in SF for next month. (look at the photos, the food is also presented in a unique way)

This is hands down my favorite Mexican place EVER! The brothers, Daniel and Gabriel are the owner/operators and they are so enthusiastic and funny! This food though is no joke, it looks like a work of art when delivered to you, making you wonder how you could possibly eat such a gorgeous plate of food. Once you take your first bite you can taste the fresh ingredients and to top it all off, try some of their fresh made salsas, they are addicting and thankfully are for sale as well! I travel from the south bay just to eat there. If you go be sure to sign their message posters in the lobby to tell them how great you think their food it.

The owners really take pride in the flavor and presentation of their food. Everything is fresh and delicious. It's an odd location, but a great place for lunch, so long as you are not in a rush.

  • Joyce G.

great food, service & location! they are located in the burlingame golf center - a hidden gem! gabriel & daniel serve homemade salsa, both mild - one red, one green, served warm with fresh tortilla chips. the green was my favorite!! the steak fajitas were delicious - the steak was tender and the veggies were fresh and nicely grilled. they put a lot of effort into presentation. the dishes look very professional, almost like something you'd get at a fancy hotel. they also serve alcohol - margaritas, beer and homemade sangria. prices are a bargain & service was excellent! definitely a must try!!

    (4)
  • Kimarie M.

This is a little gem of a find - especially for families. The food is delicious, the atmosphere casual, and Gabriel, the chef, is always out talking to patrons. Agreed- it's not a "serious" restaurant and at first I wasn't sure there was actually a restaurant there in the golf center. But, I'm so glad I stumbled upon it and will return many times in the future!

  • Linda H.

WOW! A friend suggested our group of friends meet here for dinner. What a great place indeed! Never would have found it. It is in the Golf/Soccer center so never would know about it unless one was specifically going there. The food was the best Mexican food I have had for years. The presentation was spectacular and the service was great. It is not a formal dining place for a date but it is nice and clean and VERY friendly. Very welcoming. The kids could go and play outside in the soccer field while we had some smoothies and beers and some great food. We will all DEFINITELY be back. I wish they were on Broadway on Burlingame- I think it would be such a hit and I would be there every week! It is the kind of place if someone goes once would definitely want to go back- no doubt about it. I feel so strongly that this is my first Yelp review ever! Oh we ordered quesadillas, fajitas and burritos. All with amazing presentations- the kids got them shaped as butterflies, cars etc.... AMAZING!

  • Rob S.

I 100% agree the other reviews posted here. I'll just touch on a few things that I didn't read in the other reviews. Don't expect this to be the place to put an order in and have your food ready in a "Taco Bell" minute. Everything is made fresh to order. I had the Chicken Taco Salad and all the ingredients are freshly made right down to the tortilla bowl. There was only one other table seated when I was there and from the time I placed my order to the time I received my food 20-30 minutes had passed. But it was well worth the wait. I've never had a more beautiful and tasty taco salad in my life. I walked out very satisfied and at a more than reasonable price of $11.25 which included a soda. The owner also treated me to chips and salsa as well as a small scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with fried banana chips and whip cream which I didn't even order! Bottom line.......Delicious food, nice service, great price. These guys would be a hit in even the most trendy areas of the city just by the food presentation alone!

    (4)
  • Esther A.

If you don't know your way around Burlingame-you might end up on the freeway. Kind of weird location-when you walk in, its like walking in to a meeting and you are the one in interrupting. It's would be worth it to trek down there if you are near by since the food is good and has a very nice presentation. A bit over priced but I guess its priced for the tourist. I had the tacos meal which comes with 2 tacos, beans and rice - $10.80...like i said over priced but it is what it is.

I really enjoyed eating here. The food is beautiful and very tasty! The only thing that is kind of weird is that this place is hard to find. Look on the north end of the club house at the golf course.

    (5)
  • Michael V.

The food is generally good. But it's inexcusable to run out of chicken for the rest of the day after only being open for an hour. Especially when the only other option is steak.

  • Pamela D.

We were staying in a hotel down the road and I had seen the yelp reviews, so I suggested this to my husband. He was definitely skeptical, given the location but we gave it a shot anyway. We were glad we did. The food was good, the price was right and we absolutely destroyed our food and got desert, which we NEVER do. I got some sort of burrito thing, he got a fajita thing- we were full but the fried banana ice cream looked amazing, so we got it and I would eat that every day if I could. It was just a few little slices of fried banana, so you get the taste without an overwhelming quantity, with tasty ice cream, drizzled caramel and whipped cream. The burrito was not the best I've ever had, but for the cost and visual impact- totally worth it and totally recommended. Service was reasonably fast, so if you don't want a long wait and want a good dinner- just trust me and try this!

  • Jason K.

I can't believe there are this many reviews for this place :) I thought just us range junkies and the soccer moms from the Burlingame Soccer Center were hip to Daniel and Gabriel. I've lived in the Mission District for eight years so I'm familiar with burrito/mexican food mecca. It's like comparing apples and oranges though. The presentation of the food is superior here...and it tastes great too. A good Monday...work, punch out, hit a bucket of balls at the Golf Center, grub at Gabriel and Daniel's while watching the Giants on the flat screen and flipping through a Golf Digest...simple and good I've taken a couple of friends there for lunch. Before: "You want to get mexican food at a driving range?" After: "That was goooooooooood!" Yes it is

  • Amy S.

This place is absolutely amazing! My husband went for a work lunch and was so impressed that we drove back from San Jose for lunch. The food was amazing, the tomatillo salsa is freshly made and he gave us some fresh pico de gallo for the kids. Both were heavenly! Then we ordered lunch- we ordered one taco salad, combo beef and chicken fajitas and a veggie burrito. We got the food and the presentation was flawless which was impressive. Even more impressive is the quality, freshness and taste of the food. We were blown away. Gabriel who is one of the owners personally served us and asked if we liked the food. This place is in a golf course setting but it could have easily been in the middle of a swanky downtown. To top off all of food, Gabriel surprised us with a delicious dessert. We will be back again and again! This place is fantastic.

Saturday night, 7:20 pm. I checked my hundred-or-so bookmarks to see if I could find someplace interesting, where I wouldn't have to get into a knock-down-drag-out for a parking space. I decided to give Gabriel and Daniel's a try. I called first, to check their hours, as I didn't figure too many people would be golfing post-sunset. A man answered the phone, told me they'd be closing at 8. I apologized, said I was a little far away, but he opened up my first view to his extraordinary hospitality, and said he'd stay open, and wait for me to come down. One patron. I slapped on some lipstick, tossed off my slippers, grabbed a pair of heels, and off I went. Well, the heels were overdoing it for the ambiance, but NOT for the artistry, and aforementioned hospitality. Gabriel made my dinner personally, and without knowledge of my addiction to Yelp, put such care and effort into my dinner, you would have thought I was a critic for Food and Wine. The meal was excellent, affordable, and more beautifully presented than at ANY similar establishment I've ever patronized. Mwahahaaaa, they're on my route home from work...

For what it is (a restaurant at a driving range) it is the absolute best in the world. Guy Fieri From Diners Drive-in's and Dives should get down here cause this food is AWESOME. There isn't true waiter service but they somehow still provide great service with their attitudes. The presentation is out of this world, someone needs to invest $200,000.00 and open a restaurant with these dudes... Would clean out other Mexican food joints. But maybe they've found their niche. A La Mexicana is fun to eat, plenty of food, perfect spice (if you like some heat), and just plain beautiful. Ask about the plantains desert!!

    (5)
  • Gene H.

The other reviewers are right. This is a cool place and they make a great effort to make sure everything is just so. Either Gabriel or Daniel is an artist (or both of them). Presentation is completely unexpected in a place like this. It's not all show though. The flavors are good and well put together. It's a good balance -- not too much heat, sour cream, beans or rice. I prefer the green salsa -- both red and green are fresh. I will go again when I get the chance. I reserve five stars for places that are much more upscale, but this is a clear winner in this category.

the food is incredibly beautiful.. each plate is a work of art. and it is the best mexican food that i've eaten anywhere. the first bite is an ahhhhh.. moment ~ and you know right away that your taste buds are going into their happy place. when we were done, gabriel came to our table and talked to us for quite a while. it wasn't like he came over because he knew us, because he did not. he is just friendly that way... such a nice young man, and handsome too. you can tell he loves what he does.. it shows in his food presentation and and in its wonderful fresh flavor. thank you also to all the staff who turn out these creative dishes, one after another. you make our dining experience fun. thank you, gabriel, for the dessert at the end of our meal. we had not ordered any and it was a most delightful and thoughtful surprise. this is one restaurant where i am not even out the door and am already planning when i can come back.

EPIC.. And no I am not saying this because the food and presentation surpassed my preconcieved idea of what quality of food I was expecting from a cafe located inside a driving range but because the food was just that good!! I recommend the Ala Pimienta It was outstanding. I hate when people build up my expectations with rave reviews and then I go and am underwhelmed.... But I promise you, you will be pleasantly surprised with the authentic tasty treats found as this little hideaway.

Overrated, If you need to grab a bit after a bucket of balls Ok. but not that friendly and food is good but I have had a lot better mex,, most places Nice place to sit outside and have a taco ok price salsa, NOT, come on guy your Mex. chips, costco and smashed Fajitas, tasty but mostly beans and rice with a nice presentation. It is a pro shop for a driving range so, maybe that is why it gets good rating?

Very good overall, beautiful presentation, fresh ingredients cooked right in front of you. My only complaint is they were out of guacamole ... Which means that it's freshly prepared. They only have meat dishes, no fish. Simple menu but you can't go wrong. we'll go back.

What a little gem this place is... Friday night golf + Mexican food in Gabriel & Daniel's is quickly becoming a regular event for my wife and I... and there is no denying why we keep coming back to this rather mediocre driving range... purely for the love of great food (both in presentation and taste) and great service (always friendly, always smiling, always giving us free ice cream - he obviously knows his customer, yeah!)... and the owner/chef seems genuine happy to work there and serve you food - always a plus in my book. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone...

Food was great Service with a smile What more could you ask for? Oh yeah, the fried banana dessert! It would be great if they could get a larger more accessible location, but then it would lose its charm. In a land of mediocre Mexican restaurants (El Torito and Chevys), G&D's is a must. We had the burrito and fajitas and the taste matched the awesome presentation. Can't wait to go back and try something else.

Had the Alambres. Good flavors. Very creative presentation. Chips and salsa were good not great. Service was good and the owner checked on me several times. Complimentary ice cream and sliver of pumpkin pie finished the meal perfectly. Left satisfied and glad I walked over from my hotel. Recommended and will return to try another specialty.

I've been here several times now, and have never been disappointed! The presentation is just as good as the food. Sometimes the service is a little slow, but definitely worth the wait. It is more of a walk up and order then they will serve your food, so don't expect a sit down meal with a white table cloth or anything.

A friend recommended the burlingame golf center for the excellent Mexican food. I thought he was joking, but I ordered fajitas and got this: static.px.yelp.com/photo… and then dessert: static.px.yelp.com/photo… Tastes as good as they look! I've had the tacos and burritos and they are equally impressive. I love this place. I've eaten here 5 times in the last 2 weeks. As a bonus, the guy at the counter is extraordinarily polite. Plenty of parking. Right next to 101.

Love the food. Love the presentation. Love the out-of-the-way, hole-in-the-walliness. But be warned: this restaurant came up as the first result of a search filtered by "good for kids." We have a two-year-old, and it was sitcom-bad how awful it is for toddlers. The clientele there isn't expecting a two-year-old, and we got some weird looks when she screamed and threw a half-eaten quesadilla across the room. The last person to use the booster seat just graduated high school, so it took a while for the staff to find. It just wasn't a fit for an active toddler. Great food, though. Leave the kid at home with a clean litter box and some cut-up bananas, and give this place a shot.

The employees left a bad taste in the mouth even before tasting the food (which was also quite bad). Greeting: "I've got to leave in 10 minutes - you have to take it to go or eat outside". They only let us sit inside after one of their regulars came in, and there were no questions asked. He was given chips and salsa - we had to ask. In all fairness, we showed up 20 min before closing, BUT, if you can't serve politely... don't serve! Chips: generic out-of-bag crap "Salsa": spicy marinara sauce Presentation: great - but who gives a shit! This is Mexican food off the griddle. No hot sauce? Really? NO THANKS across the board. You'll find me at the local taqueria.

OMG!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Great breakfast burritos, salsas are homemade and awesome and their tacos and burritos are so yummy!!! The reason for changing the stars is the phone ordering is horrible. I will call for Togo breakfast and they lie about not having eggs and you can go in person and order. Makes me go to other places more often now.

Great food, great free surprise desert!! Great presentation. Great people. Great service. Wouldnt have found it without a friends prior knowledge, in the clubhouse of a driving range. Also looks like they do charity work for kids in Mexico.

We found this place on Yelp and thought we were lost when we pulled into the driving range. Flavorful food and beautiful presentation. They even turned our toddler's burrito into a work of art (butterfly). The owner came in while we were eating and brought us a free dessert too. Great place for families -- no pretense and there's a playground a short walk away. My husband and daughter played while I ordered and waited for our food. We'd go more often if we were closer.

I have fallen in love with this Restaurant!!!! The food is amazing, and it is done with so much love, just look at the detail on the photos!!!! Gabriel the owner puts his passion for flavor and taste in his dishes. The presentation, the flavor, the friendliness of this cozy restaurant just makes it perfect. It's one of those restaurants where they treat you special like family. They say word-of-mouth is the best advertisement and Gabriel and Daniel's Mexican Grill is one of those places that people can't stop talking about. Take the time to visit this incredible little place and get ready for the "BEST SALSA VERDE" you have ever tasted, and I guarantee you too, will takes photos of your food, everyone does at this little gem!!!!!!!!!

What a GEM! We went there for lunch today after reading the reviews on Yelp. The dishes are both appealing and delicious to the eyes and stomach! The presentation was superb! We had the complimentary red and green (tomatillo) salsa with chips. In addition I also ordered the Fresh Guacamole Bowl. The Salsas and Guacamole are amazing, very fresh and delicious! I especially liked the tangy taste of the tomatillo salsa. I brought a jar of the tomatillo salsa home. They have both the red and green salsa for sale. For the entrée I tried the Alambres (steak) and Burrito (Chicken). I ate half of the Alambres and 1/3 of the Burrito which is more than enough considering I ate half of the Guac. My husband's dish was also very good. It was spicy hot with a lot of black peppers. I forget the name. He finished it all up and his head was smoking from the heat! The dishes are a good size and the ingredients are fresh. Gabriel gave us a complimentary dessert to share of Vanilla Ice Cream with Banana Chips, Caramel Syrup, and Whipped Cream. It was the perfect dessert to end our meal. I highly recommend Gabriel & Daniel's Mexican Grill. It was worth the trip for us to go down to Burlingame from San Francisco. The grill is inside the Burlingame Golf Center. No sign on the outside, but they are working on getting one. Plenty of parking and close to the freeway (101). I'm going to download some of the pictures I took. No problems with the service. Gabriel the owner was very friendly. He prepared our food. Fast service. Obviously a very good and artistic Chef! (food and presentation). They also have burgers, fries, grillled cheese, salads, etc. for children who might not eat Mexican food.

I currently live in NYC, but am from the southwest originally. It is hard to find good Mexican food in NYC. In January, I went to visit one of my friends in the bay area. She picked me up at the airport and zipped us over to Gabriel's. I thought why are we going to a golf course. Low and behold inside is a small, but super delicious Mexican restaurant. We asked Gabriel just to whip us up a couple of items. He made us a delicious quesadilla and burrito. He started us with some fantastic guacamole and finished us with some ice cream and fried banana dessert. The presentation is out of this world. The plates come out looking like artwork and taste even better. Friendly casual atmosphere and great service. It nice to see someone taking such pride in their food. It is a rare find these days. I just wish I had a place like this in New York City.

Great location for a casual business lunch! Right off 101, Anza exit, pull into the golf course, drive up to the clubhouse, park, and this gem of a Mexican restaurant is right there inside! Lots of convenient, free parking. Beautiful views of the grassy driving range and planes landing at SFO. Quiet enough to carry on conversations. VERY friendly, efficient staff and the food presentation is like a visual 4th of July! Wow~Mexican food has never been more spectacularly plated and it's very tasty. Will definitely be stopping there again!

By far the BEST mexican restaurant around. You will want to eat here every chance you get. You can't go wrong with anything you order, but my favorite is their burritos. The tomatillo sauce on top is to die for!

Food is great and service is very friendly and accommodating. The only thing holding it back from 5 stars at this time is that I ordered chicken but was served beef and I think the server forgot my second beer (I had to go to the counter to get it). Normally I would take off much more for these issues but the food is outstanding and even my girlfriend loved her tacos when normally she's kind of meh when it comes to Mexican food. Not to mention the presentation, which is better than what I've seen in restaurants that charge three times the price. Another reason I'm willing to ignore the two issues is that the server (who I believe is the owner, I didn't ask) was so personable and eager to please. After our meal he came over and engaged us in conversation like we had been there dozens of time even though I only found out about this place today. Then he came back with slices of pie and ice cream for us on the house. We will definitely be returning and next time I hope to give the 5 stars that I know this place deserves.

This place in indeed a hidden gem. Worth seeking out because it is not easy to find. The view of young people practicing sports, planes landing and sports on TV made it a fun place. The food was outstanding. Worthy of more than five stars. Fresh, unique, and beautifully presented. Never had better Mexican food.....ever. A must try.

  • Chris H.

I very rarely give out 5-star reviews to restaurants, but I'd give this place 6-stars if it were an option. One of the very best Mexican restaurants at which I've ever eaten. Kind of hard to find and tucked away at a golf driving range behind some hotels, but you'll be glad you took to effort to locate it. Not only is the food delicious, but they decorate it with flavorful sauces in a way that makes it more like art than food (see pictures). I highly recommend the Rosie's Special (I think that's what it's called).

  • Robert H.

Excellent gourmet food, beautifully displayed meals, friendly and attentive service, great prices! Owner came out to make sure that we were well taken care of. Quite a hidden gem! Highly recommended and keep up the good work!

This place is absolutely amazing. The food is awesome and a beautiful work of art. Gabrielle came out to talk with us and the other staff were super friendly. It's a little hard to find because its by a driving range and soccer field. Gabrielle, make a big sign on the building to advertise. We drove away twice thinking we had the wrong place. I wonder how many people have driven away thinking they were in the wrong place. Sorry for their luck because they missed out on the best Mexican food in California!!!

  • Yvonne Q.

I do not like the food because it is well covered with "decorations" so I could not really see what I was eating. I prefer the traditional way of meal presentation where you can visualize what your about to put in your mouth. I will never go back to this place again!

Delicious food, and spectacular presentation! Why this place is in a pro shop, and not in a restaurant downtown is beyond me! The guys behind the counter are awesome as well! Definely would eat here again!

one counter - get fitted for a golf club other counter - G&D Mexican Grill ! very friendly and outgoing staff. limited but good choice of sandwiches, burgers and Mexican. so something for everyone. Convenient . Guac is fresh, pico is fresh made and had nice kick,. and both meals delicious ... the shtick here is in the presentation using the crema. muy linda. have I had better Mexican? yes. but i do recommend this place. it works.

OMG...I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I was brought here by a friend and was extremely pessimistic when I saw that the "restaurant" that we were going to was located on a golf course. Shame on me for judging a book by its cover. But... shame on Gabriel and Daniel for serving me Mexican food that was so great, everything else now tastes like YUCK! It's obvious by the presentation and taste of the food that a lot of love goes into it that you won't find anywhere else.

    (5)
  • Chris B.

Gabriel and Daniels is still amazing! Evey thing on the menu is very satisfying and extremely delicious! My most favorite fare here is Al Hambres but I think its a tie with La Mexicana. This place is also great for kids as they have the staples that most kids will eat on a daily basis such as Chocolate milk, hot dogs, quesadillas, grilled cheese and chicken nuggets! Another Perk G&D's has to offer is homemade harbanero salsa! Not only is the food wonderful, but the owner is a great person who gives back to his community and donates toys to children in need back in Mexico!!!

What a wonderful surprise this restaurant and owners are! I have been staying at the Doubletree Hotel, Burlingame, and this golf center is right behind the hotel. The restaurant is in the main building. Excellent Mexican food, and I am not a big fan of Mexican usually. The portions are just right, and not too filling. Very artistic presentation too, and when you wash the food down with a Negro Modello, well the whole picture is blissful. Two of us ate there, with two main courses and 3 beers each - total $40.00 - wonderful value for such good food.

Okay this is my first yelp review. Heck I just registered on Yelp even though I have used it before. This little Mexican restaurant is off the charts great. Me and wife still can't beleive we are at a golf course club next to San Fran airport. Totally bizarre location but mind blower food. On our way home in the morning to Miami where our Mexican food is not that great. Come find this place for sure.

Once we found the place it was awesome! When you turn into the street, you go to the left and it is in the little club house. We saw no signs. The food really does look as beautiful as in the picture and it tastes great!

  • Nora Y.

Service is great. The food was ingeniously well decorated, however, food in terms of taste was mediocre; seemed a bit salty to me. I've tasted better at Pancho Villa in San Mateo. I did like their red and green salsa with the chips, but it needed a little more kick, i.e., they were not spicey hot at all.

  • Doug B.

Excellent and surprising place. We biked up after reading the reviews. In a golf clubhouse! Amazing. Great place to stop on a bike ride. presuming you look carefully at Google Maps to plan a route in advance. I strongly recommend going around via the route behind the baseball diamond, as the street in front is visually uninteresting and not worth fighting traffic for. Terrific care and detail on the food, with artistic prep. Note: the food tends to be highly spiced, so if that is a problem, make sure to ask for a very mild meal. Also, the service is quite slow. The kitchen is practically nonexistent, and the whole place is run by a very few people. On the other hand, your food will be freshly prepared. Just relax and enjoy.

  • Squeaky W.

You just have to go there if you are in the area. Don't get fooled by the location and decor, the food is great and the service is unbelievable. The chef is very friendly and he even offered us to write a comment about the food in one of his books. What kind of chef asks for feedback from their customers as soon as they finish eating his food?! Great place! Cant wait to come back again.

BURRITOS WITH CHARACTER. It is weird indeed -- a little Mexican food place in the pro shop of a public golf range. But there it is, and they make a pretty good burrito! What's special about it? * It's actually spicy. In fact, if you are very susceptible, you should tell them. Even the fresh salsa you get is fairly fiery. * The presentation is wonderful, by burrito standards. Look at the pictures on the wall -- all the dishes are given a lacy filigree of sour cream. Why? Who cares? It's not a burrito that, once loose on a plate, self-destructs into a big food duodenum. It's finely wrapped, nicely flavored.... a most un-burrito-like burrito. * And they're right -- the dessert with ice cream and fried banana is pretty darn good. Give it a try! Looking for more Mexican? See my Mexican food list here: yelp.com/list_details?li…

We brought our friends back to SFO but had a couple of hours to spend, so we find on Yelp Gabriel & Daniel's Mexican Grill. Wrote the address down but didn't read all the reviews, so we where surprise that we end up at a Golf Course. Inside we found the little restaurant, I am personally not a real Mexican food person but this is the best Taco Salad what I ever had. My friends and wife had a different dish but their eyes said enough. It's not only delicious; it's also a piece of Art. For us is not next door but certainly a raison just to drive to for a good meal.

We were staying at the Embassy Suites in Burlingame, and wanted a change from their restaurant. Found this unassuming little Mexican food place through yelp - quite random, right at the golf course, walking distance. Great salsas (they even brought me a special extra hot one with habaneros when I asked for something spicier), yummy and amazing-looking burrito and salad, and 10 star service. We asked for the spicy guacamole bowl and the guy was hesitant, telling us the avocados don't taste as well as they should, but we insisted, so they made it for us anyway... and then they comp'd it! We both got our own margarita on the house (with plenty tequila) and also some milkshake looking dessert (boyfriend ate both, I'm vegan). If I ever return to Burlingame, I'll be sure to dine there again! Note, they close at 8pm on weekdays, so do call ahead (the number for the golf course) to make sure they are open.

For the peninsula, and beside counting the authentic Mexican restaurants in "Little Mexico" on Middlefield and 5th in Redwood City, there are two places I love, Don Picos in San Bruno, and now (of all places) Gabriel and Daniels located at the Burlingame Golf Center. First, Gabriel is passionate about the taste and presentations of everything that comes out of the little kitchen they have. From the wet burritos, to the tacos, and to their specialty plates, it is all pretty amazing stuff! Recently I had the Alhambres plate which was beautifully created and chock full of tasty steak, chicken, beans, peppers, and rice. I went through 6 tortillas just to clean the plate up. This is definitely a secret worthy of being spread about. It's kind of a challenge to get there especially if you're not familiar with the area, but I do encourage that you try. It's all worth it!

  • Thorsten B.

Great food, amazing service. It's a very unassuming place, just a hole in the wall of the golf centre for cooking with some tables in the centre proper. Don't let that fool you. I had guacamole and whatever the owner recommended - "not on the menu", he said - and it was a very pleasant surprise. They're really going out of their way with presentation, and the food itself is tasty and fresh. There was at least one other party that night that found the place via yelp. The owners acted presently surprised that they got out-of-town traffic via "the Internet". With all the reviews on yelp, that has to be a polite act. The fried banana desert was as good as advertised, was light enough after the meal, and came without being asked for. I could not be happier with this place.

Where you might least expect it.... This is an absolutely terrific find. A stone's throw up behind the Crowne Plaza SFO. Off Broadway, literally, and figuratively, as restaurants go. If you play golf or your kids play soccer you may know this little cafe at Murray Field. Actually, it's a great place to go on Sundays afternoons and watch football or world cup matches. Consider a Mexican restaurant and sports bar, although beer only, I believe. Point is, food is good enough to go for even if you could care less about sports. The quesadillas are perhaps the house specialty, but look at the fish dishes as well. This is worth doing!

I found this place via YELP, the reviews are not off. I placed a phone order to go for a large order and when I arrived Pablo was just finishing up the last order so the food was hot and fresh. He asked if this was my first time there and welcomed me. I ordered the tostaditas... OMG THEY WERE SO GOOD! No question I will be returning there for lunch!

I signed up for yelp just to write this review. The food was that good. I was in S. San Francisco on Valentines day for business. Looking for an out of the way place that wouldn't be completely booked with couples, I found Gabriel & Daniel's Mexican Grill. The restaurant is hard to find. There are no signs. It is located inside the Burlingame Golf Center. The place is not upscale. Just some tables and a counter, but I didn't come for the atmosphere. I asked Gabriel for something with fish. He brought me what he called a tilapia fajita. The presentation was fantastic. It didn't look or taste like I expected. It was better. It looked better, and tasted better. I have eaten at more Mexican restaurants than I can count, and this one of the best meals I have ever had. It was unique, flavorful, fresh, and absolutely delectable. The fajita was so good, I ordered a second meal, a shrimp quesadilla. It was just as unique, and beautiful as the first. I couldn't finish the quesadilla, but with a valiant effort I came close. I was so full and satisfied I almost couldn't eat the fried banana and ice cream he brought out complimentary... Almost. After 3 plates of some of the most beautiful, unique and delicious food I have had anywhere, I was charged $14.50. I felt like I was ripping him off at that price, so I left a 75% tip. Yelp had this restaurant listed as $$, but this is definitely a $ price point. This place had 1 star prices with 5 star food. I have eaten at many 5 star restaurants, and the food here looked better and tasted better than some meals I have paid almost 10 times as much for. What a find this place was. Restaurants like this are the reason I love yelp.com .

Food is nice and fresh, a little expensive but well worth it. I had the Alambres and it had a good flavor with the added bacon (highly recommended) and the Gabriel salad (which was good). With the freshness of the food, the amazingly nice people, and chips and salsa are included in the meal... I have been back and will come back more.

I went here a while ago after seeing the great reviews. The presentation is great, that is true. And there is the novelty of it being right next to the driving range. But the food? Just okay. I'd prefer just about any taqueria in San Mateo.

i had forgotten about this place until i read the review of a fellow yelper. i used to work quite close to the golf course, and had no idea this gem of a restaurant was tucked away here until a coworker told me about it. the owners are two brothers, and their tlc for their passion of cooking is exemplified through their great dishes. their home made salsas are to die for!

This place is amazing. When I first went to this place a couple of years ago, I did not ever imagine how extravagant the food would be. Boy was I amazed. They have pictures up on the wall to show you what each of their specialties looks like. It isn't like a fast food commercial, where the food looks great in a picture and then when it comes out looks way different. The food looks just like the pictures, fantastic. I have been frequenting this place for a few years now and I have gotten to know Gabriel, one of the owners, quiet well. He is a very friendly man who cares deeply about his food and about how his customers enjoy his food. I have always told people that it has 5 star quality food and presentation in a 1 star setting. So, dont let the idea of it being in the Burlingame Driving Range fool you. This place is flat out amazing. I highly recommend the Alambres.

awesome and authentic mexican food.. right after you get a great workout at the driving range. The salsa is fresh and spicy, the food is amazingly presented, and really tasty.... You get a free bite sized desert that hits the spot. The owner/head chef was very interactive and super friendly. You could tell he really cared and provided great service. Wash down with a Dos Equis and thats a pretty nice experience. highly recommend

  • Hitomi M.

My husband took me here since he stays at a hotel near by on his business trips, and he walks to this place all the time for his meal. It is hidden, and not advertized, so if you are not playing golf here, or someone tells you, you will never find it. I was amazed with all the art works they do on the plate. It looks amazing, and I have never seen anything like that. The food was very good, and the price was right. The toltia chips that they make there are so good, and I was getting full just by munching on them since I couldn't stop. If I go near by again, I will definitely stop by to eat here.

Hidden secret! Trust me when I tell you I have been to MANY MANY mexican restaurants in my time. I had the shrimp burrito and it is the best I've ever had. The homemade salsa is good, although more on the smooth side than a chunky pico de gallo, the taste is very tomatoey with tons of character and a nice hint of spice. This is really a world class Mexican restaurant tucked into the golf center. I will be back again and again and I will bring friends to astound them with the amazing food. After our meal Gabriel gave us a complimentary ice cream dessert with plantain chips that was the perfect finish. Don't miss out but come warned that you will become a regular! Muchas gracias amigo!

I get the carne asada burrito every time! Gabriel himself is super nice, and so is the other guy who works there most of the time. They are small, so sometimes they are out of supplies (e.g., tortillas, carne asada), but the other food is so delicious it's easy to choose another dish. I will continue to return here to get much lunch. To find this place, actually go INTO the Burlingame gold course building. It's there in the lobby area.

We are huge food people so, hopefully, this means something. The food here is not just some of the best tasting Mexican I've ever had, the presentation rivals anywhere I've tried. Daniel is a classy gentleman and they really do go out of their way to make it an amazing experience. Totally random location, but that sort of adds to the experience. Been twice now and brought my wife today - we'll be back soon.

Family owned local business that serves up some good grub! There are some items on the menu (hot dogs, etc) which are clearly there to serve the needs of the golfing range clientele, but don't stop there! Ask the super friendly staff what they recommend and they will introduce to you a world of delicious, authentic Mexican fare. They'll even customize the dish to your preferences. Like others have mentioned, this IS located in a golf shop in a rather ho-hum golfing range, but we all know true foodies cannot be deterred by silly things like golf clubs on wall.

Random, at a golf course, and really really good! Who would have ever thought that such an authentic and fresh Mexican restaurant would be at some half ass golf course? This place is really easy to find and right off the freeway. Staff is so nice and wouldn't let me leave without trying what they had on the grill. gogogogogogo...

What a pleasant suprise! Don't be fooled when you see this casual restaurant is located in the Anza public golf center. I had not read the reviews so originally thought I had the wrong address. I ordered one of the signature rosie special dishes and it was excellent. It did have a bit of hot peppers which I like but might be a tad spicy for the people who enjoy a little less spice. I suspect it can be ordered milder. As mentioned in other reviews, the presentation was excellent and the photos attached are very accurate. This is a nice casual spot to stop at lunch and parking is very convenient. Gabriel was a delightful host as well.

We found this place on yelp and, while we are from out of town, we did manage to find the place. We went in based on the reviews and were certainly not disappointed. We are not used to Mexican food being presented in this manner but it was a pleasant surprise and the food tasted excellent. We had the quesadilla and burrito. I can't say that I've ever had a better burrito. The owner/operator (not sure if it was Gabriel or Daniel) was very friendly and offered fabulous service. The fried banana dessert was a perfect finish for the meal.

We had a similar first experience that was described by Benjamin L. We tried the chicken burrito, taco salad, gabriel salad and chicken fajitas on August 16, 2009; all entrees were presented in a highly artistic manner; however, the food arrived cold and short on taste. After paying the bill for $52, we felt that Baja Fresh would have been a much better choice at half the cost.

Grill/Cafe/Taqueria/Restaurant/Shack Not knowing what i was getting myself into when my friend took me to the Burlingame Golf Center for Mexican food, I soon discovered a small cafe/taqueria inside. I can't find myself calling Gabriel and Daniel's a serious restaurant, like other reviews have, due to it's location and size. Which I must say is as small as my bathroom. It is also hard to call this establishment a "taqueria", for I am caught eating a pretentious looking steak fajitas platter which resembles tuna tar-tar for it's presentation. Gabriel & Daniel's Mexican Grill cannot be taken seriously. With such detail to food presentation, the owners (I'm guessing Gabriel and Daniel) are dreaming of their 5-star roach-coach across 101 on Burlingame Avenue. When seated in the middle of the Burlingame Golf Center Pro Shop awaiting my food, I felt as if I was the only customer to visit this grill/cafe/taqueria/restaurant/shack. I did however feel very welcomed and did receive a free beverage somehow, but the food took awhile. For this, I cross out "cafe", because cafes offer food on the go. Sitting in the golf pro shop made me realize this was not a restaurant. So cross off "restaurant". A Grill is a restaurant with a grill, and since this is not a restaurant cross "grill" off. This leaves taqueria and shack where I think fits the idea of this place. A taqueria shack. This establishment should always be considered as a taqueria shack and nothing more because of it's location and over pretentious food and presentation. I give Gabriel and Daniel's Mexican "Place", 3 out of 5 stars because of the taste even though I felt overcharged for such meager food.

A true culinary gem. My husband and I recently discovered this delightful grill in a most unusual place. Gabriel & Daniel's Mexican Grill is located within the Burlingame Golf Center at 250 Anza Blvd. After hitting a couple of buckets of balls we stopped in for a snack and have been back three times in the last two weeks. If you enjoy Mexican food, expertly prepared by a chef who obviously loves what he is doing, then make sure you pay them a visit. Thus far we have tried the steak tacos which were very good, the largest and most beautiful quesadilla we have ever seen, Gabriel's gourmet salad featuring his own very tasty dressing and their signature dish, "The Alambras." This dish is a combination of onions, bell peppers, ham, bacon, your choice of chicken or steak, all grilled and served on top of a bed of rice and beans. This culinary delight is then topped with sour cream, guacamole and pica de gallo and served tortillas on the side. Three kinds of Mexican beer as well as Margerita's are available to enjoy with your meal. They also offer some more traditional snack bar fare, but you'll never catch me straying from their Mexican cuisine. I wish I had enough capital to set them up in downtown Burlingame next near our art gallery.

I have wanted to eat here for a long time. I walk my dogs every weekend by the Golf range and the water near the hotels in Burlingame. i took my girlfriend and we sat outside this past Sunday, where the sun was shing and they have nice clean tables outside. We both had beautifully HUGE burritos. My girlfriend polished hers off and i took half home to enjoy for lunch the next day. Their chips and slasa is wonderful and the personal, friendly touch Gabriel makes with all his customers. He was so nice to me and it was the first time I came in. i will definitely come again and even order to take home. My staek burrito was very tender and the decoration was so beautiful. My girlfriend said her burrito was a little spicy, but she had nothing left on her plate. It was worth every penny, because of tghe quality of ingredients, atmosphere and the personal touch, and wonderful friendly service!

Fantastic presentation and very friendly service. The A La Mexicana and A La Pimienta are nice and spicy, but really its the presentation that elevates this place to 5 stars. I've never been anywhere else that such care is taken over the look of the food on the plate.

Astonishingly good Mexican food, hidden way at a golf driving range. I never thought about the possible existence of a gourmet Mexican restaurant, but this is it! Out of the long list of good options, I chose the La Pimiento, a spicy dish with grilled steak, offered with chips and salsa. Since I was getting a spicy main dish, I chose the green salsa. Obviously homemade, with lots of diced onion. The main dish was almost too pretty to eat. This is NOT pre-packaged rice and runny refried beans with a handful of cheese. This was more akin to the mashed potatoes tower from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind": a base layer of tomato-y rice, then a layer of black beans with jalapenos, a mound of razor-thin slices of grilled steak, and finally a scoop of guacamole. And, oh my gosh, so delicious to eat. The owners are eager to please, and obviously very conscious of the entire food experience. I can't think of a single aspect I would change or improve upon.

Nicely prepared Mexican food in a comfortable, if unusual setting. Nice salads. Spicy burritos. Fresh french fries. All good, fresh looking and tasting. Next time I'm trying the root beer float (for $2.50).

Truly a "find" in Burlingame. Yes, it's located in a golf pro shop. Yes, it's VERY hard to find. Go to the Burlingame Golf center (250 Anza), park in the parking lot, and go into the building which houses the golf pro shop. In there you will find Gabriel and Daniel's Mexican Grill, a truly amazing Mexican restaurant. My Mexican salad was prepared with love and care. Terrific taste and a combination of spices that I would never have expected. As Bryan M says "go go go go go"

This place is amazing! What can I say...the food is as tasty as can be, the owner is the nicest guy you can imagine, and the prices can't be beat!!! The presentation is what will really knock your socks off...it's unbelievable that they would put so much care into your food. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!!!! You have to try this palce...!

An amazing find inside a driving range clubhouse. Excellent mexican style food without the usual layers of cheese and goo. They take great pride in their creations, the presentation is something worthy of 5 star restaurants. the food is fresh, tasty and as spicy as you ask for it. And the little dessert was an awesome surprise. Definitely worth the visit. You airline folks staying at the Doubletree need to take the 5 minute walk and try it out.

This place was raved about by some coworkers. Since my coworkers rave about places I would not agree with them, I had to double-check on yelp before I went there for an after-work function. I seriously do not know why this place gets 5-stars from so many people. I really wanted to give them 5-stars, but I just couldn't. Though the owner/chef was very friendly and came out to see how we were doing, I have had much much better Mexican food at other places. This was on-par with Chevy's in its authenticity. I really liked the plating. I even took a photo of my chicken burrito. The sauce was kind of spicy, but everything else was bland inside the burrito. The salsa they give with the store-bought tortilla chips is not that great. I am used to So. Cali establishments with a full-on salsa bar. These guys give you 2 small dishes for the salsa. The red salsa tasted like, and had the consistency of spagetti sauce mixed with Tapatio hot sauce. I will come here again if I come with my coworkers for something, but not otherwise. I am sure I can find better, more authentic places in the surrounding area.

Gabriel and Daniel's Mexican Grill is by far the best mexican restaurant in this area. It is hidden in the Burlingame Golf Center right before the entrance to 101N and can be easily missed. You can tell people are starting to learn about it because it gets busier and busier every time we go back. Gabriel also catered our wedding last year and did an extraordinary job. We still get compliments on how good the food was and how great it looked on the plate! As you can see from the pictures, Gabriel not only makes the food taste great, he also makes it look great on the plate! Also, it is very reasonably priced. Other more expensive restaurants don't even hold a candle to Gabriel's food! Definitely make your way over there to check it out for yourself. You will not be disappointed!!

Watching Sunday soccer in the adjacent park I couldn't understand why I began to feel like Mexican food. On the hunt for a chocolate machine in the clubhouse to curb my stomach juices, delicious smells alerted me to the presence of Gabriel & Daniel's, a surprising find in a golf club. Seemed no harm in having a little pre-lunch snack but I wish somebody had warned me that the portions come big here. Delicious, freshly cooked burritos and tacos came with nachos and a fabulous home-made salsa which blew my taste buds away. When he asks if you want it spicy, he means spicy!!! The staff are welcoming and full of character and afford the presentation of the dishes amazing detail and passion for a joint like this. These guys really care and it shows. I left several pounds heavier but very few dollars lighter for a meal that made me put this place on my regular lunchtime haunts list.

Gabriel's is the best! The food is excellent - especially anything with chicken. Even if I am not hungry enough to justify a plate of Mexican food, I will come in here and just order a salad. The presentation is always fantastic and the service is super friendly.

Wow. The presentation for Mexican!!! You have never seen it like this place. Look at the pictures for yourself. Plus, one of the only places I've been that serve the salsa hot, besides the flavor hot temperature. Amazing!

Whoa! This place is good. We were in from Tennessee staying at the Embassy Suites down the street. Read good reviews and decided to try it out. Now, we were a little concerned with it being inside a golf driving range, but looking back, it's what made it so cool!. We were immediately greeted by the gentlemen behind the front counter. They took our order, food came and it was delicious! Best burrito I ever had, my wife loved her food as well. This really goes to show you there is fantastic food all around America to be found without reservations, valet parking, snobby waiters and wine list that make you feel like a complete moron. Give it a try!!!!! Did I mention they thanked us three times on the way out the door!

Big Mexican food fan here and many other Yelpers got it right when they stated the food looks better than it tastes. The Spanish rice that should always accompany Mexican dishes is replaced with bland white rice and the beans taste like they came from a can with added peppers and spices. As others stated, the red salsa taste like marinara sauce and the only highlight of the meal was the salsa verde. I had a steak burrito and the didn't add the guacamole and pico de gallo so I had to go and ask for it and water, which didn't bother me as service never is high priority for me. But what did bother me was the lack of authenticity of the food. Don't let the high reviews fool you. Also, the owners have a second 'restaurant' (as the man at the counter called it) at Hillsdale Mall's food court. Summary: Nice people, unique location, reasonable prices and not very good food.

Normally this place would get 5 stars. But the food looked nice but tasted nasty today. I have eaten here hundreds of times in the last 8yrs and normally it's great. But today wasn't one of those days. Tasted like yesterday's leftovers reheated and dressed up nice instead of actually cooking something fresh. Sameness fills my belly. Taco bell would bet this place in tasted today.

This place is solid! Food and service were terrific. The house salad was like no house salad I've ever had. The quesadilla plate was presented in a beautiful, unusual way. Sure, The ambience isn't sophisticated. I came here for the food. So what it is attached to a driving range. These folks do a really nice job providing really good food.

Just ate there the second time in two weeks. This place is sublime. The burrito is better or equivalent to the top burrito places in sf and the peninsula. The two guys there are super nice and the food presentation is superb. I want these guys to cater any parties I'm gonna host.

This is a little place, wedged into the corner of a golf center. Not the place you'd look for eats, but definitely a great gem. They were super nice, but they sure take their time to prepare the food. That is because the food comes out like it's art. Everything looked amazing, and tasted good. I wouldn't know what to tell you to get, because you should just go for the prettiest one on the pictures. One good thing about the dishes being so nicely decorated is that it distributes the sour cream and sauce very evenly over the whole dish. The decoration actually has a purpose! Honestly it's a 4.5 stars because the food is a little bit slow (can't blame them coz it's a 2-man shop though). But it's easily a 5-star with the effort.

My mom and I kinda stumbled upon GABRIEL & DANIEL'S MEXICAN GRILL last weekend. I first saw G&D on Yelp, and bookmarked it to try later. We were hungry after the Giants home opener and we were driving around on "hotel row" in Burlingame looking for something. It then popped in my head to give them a try. G&D is well hidden in a golf driving range off if Anza and 101. I ordered the Carne Burrito Supreme and my mom got the Chicken Quesadilla Supreme. First, let me explain that these dishes are WORKS OF ART! Seriously beautiful detail goes into each meal that comes out if their kitchen. They were also very tasty! I'd say this was an excellent spot, but if I had one small gripe, it's that the sour cream can be a bit overpowering. But that is his paint brush! Overall, I'll give it 4.25. Pleasing to the eye and quite tasty!

The green salsa (tomatillo salsa) is delicious. May I add, I'm a tough critic when it comes to salsa. I had the steak tacos and my husband had the steak quesadilla both amazingly good. Super cute way of serving and just the right amount of salsa and sour cream to enjoy your meal.

tl:dr; Nobody expects such nicely plated cal-mex in a setting like this. A hidden gem. My friends were dropping me off at SFO, and we wanted a place on the way there where we could get a relatively quick bite to eat. I'm usually apprehensive of establishments near any form of golfing, airport, or hotel, and this place is near all three - It's in a golf center adjacent to a hotel located minutes from SFO. It didn't help that there was only one small well-worn sign inside the complex to tell us about the place. The dining room looks like it belongs at the golf club but the actual counter of the place looks out of place. There's a menu above the counter and others written in some very hard to read italic script. We order and we're given some chips and green and red salsas. Both salsas are warm, and the green one had a bright acidity while the red one had a good spice kick. Both tasted fresh. That's a good sign, right? In this case, yes. Our food arrived shortly afterwards, and it was definitely arranged nicely. One of the few times when the presentation actually matched the menu photos on the wall. I had the Rosi's Special, which contained a good balance of rice, protein, and vegetables. I wouldn't say it was "authentic", but it was certainly flavorful, tasty, and spicy. I will be back in the future.

Rarely I don't know how to start the review...basically I can't think of a word that can clearly explain how good this place is. Very unexpected. First time coming to this place, surprises one after another. 1) followed the gps, thought that I went to the wrong place... 2) walked into the golf club and saw this restaurant on one side with around 10 tables 3) looked at the pictures on the wall and want able to tell those are pictures of the food they serve. 4) got a chicken taco and a beef taco....amazed by the presentation, the flavor and the spiciness. 5) believe this is the best Mexican food I have ever had so far. What I also like about this place is we went for a walk alongside the driving range after having that marvelous meal. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

WOW ZOW, seriously the best mexican food my hubby and i have ever had. Fresh, authentic, plentiful, artfully presented, just an amazing array of flavors. Starting with their salsa...the red was sweet and tart at the same time; the green had a bite that was not overwhelming, but snuck up on you. Guacamole was incredibly fresh and tasty. Hubby had chicken fajita; I had a the Mexicali special...a pyramid of rice, steak, onions, jalepenos. Delicious as well as beautifully presented. We kept fighting over the food...we couldn't decided which one we liked better. Every bite was just totally yummy. Kind of a funky setting...in a golf complex near the airport, but it was fun to watch the planes land. Really nice servers and a personable owner, with understandable pride of ownership. This will be our go-to place whenever we come through SFO!

My expectations were low when walking into this place, it looks like you are ordering hot dogs from the snack bar of the golf course.... don't let that deter you as the food is a pleasant surprise. You've seen the photos in other reviews, and they do a great artistic job in their presentation, but OMG, the flavor was just as fantastic. I really enjoyed my two taco plate (tried one chicken and one steak) and it comes with spiced black beans and white rice. My friends enjoyed a burrito, a quesadilla and A La Mexicana with chicken, and they all really enjoyed their food as well. The service is friendly, and they give you some chips and salsa to enjoy while the chef/artist does his job in preparing the food. I will defintely be back.

Really yummy veggie burrito but no margaritas! My husband had a chicken burrito that was also really good. I asked for rice and beans and the waitress said it's included. Included in the burrito is what she should have said.... oh well. Still very yummy and I will be back!

Gabriel Garcia's namesake grill, Gabriel & Daniel's, puts an artful spin on Mexican classics and old family recipes. These eye-popping beauties are winning a loyal following of golfers (this Mexican restaurant is at a golf facility), locals and travelers. Garcia is one genial proprietor. He came out several times to deliver our food and check on us (all with a warm reception), refilled our drinks on several occasions and brought us free desserts (fresh-baked pumpkin pie). We indulged in several different selctions, including the Carne Asada Burrito, the Supreme Quesadilla (with grilled chicken), a Chicken Taco Salad and a side of fresh Spicy Guacamole as well as few iced-cold margaritas. Everyone enjoyed their selections with vibrant and wholesome flavors. All the meat is high-quality, lean and tender and made fresh to order. The rice is not your typical Mexican tomato-based rice - it's a white rice infused with fresh vegetables, spices and peppers. My one minor gripe is the red sauce they use has a distinctive sweet flavor and I could pick it up in all three plates. Great flavors but each plate lacked it's own individuality. Beware of the spicy guacamole - way too much heat! We will opt for the regular guacamole our next time in. It was incredibly tasty with the perfect acidity, but just packed too much heat. Carve out an afternoon to play some golf and savor some hearty Mexican comfort food and cocktails. Consider Gabriel & Daniel's for your next fiesta; they offer full catering options. Highly recommend!

Heard so much about this restaurant so finally I took my wife there for lunch today. I had high expectations and no offense to those who rave about this place judging by the reviews, I came away disappointed. I go to Mexicao City all the time and when I am there, I usually order alambres from a couple of restaurants, my usual hang outs. They are outstanding. I was looking forward to trying the alambres here. My wife ordered the steak fajitas while I ordered the steak alambres. The chips and salsa came before the entrees, fairly standard fare for Mexican food. Free refills on the sodas. That was cool too. The main dishes came and the presentation was very nice. Fairly generous portions too. Unfortunately, after a a couple of bites, I concluded the presentation was undoubtedly much better than the food; hands down. First, you'd think for around $12 a plate, you'd find more generous portions of meat. My wife could hardly find much steak strips in her fajitas. Same for my alambres. My alambres here couldn't be more different than what I usually get in Mexico City. Second, I don't mind different but the problem here is the taste. My alambres tasted very bland. And I hate to say it but you'll get better fajitas pretty much anywhere. Other than the presentation, I don't find the food here appealing at all. Lastly, there was also way too much rice and beans all lumped together & mixed in rather than leaving them separate and not enough meat on my alambres and the same for the fajitas. And the taste was just so so for both dishes. Can't speak for the other dishes on the menu. In short, very artistic presentation but mediocre food and fairly expensive for what you get (or don't get) especially given the almost fast food type of ambiance and service ( you order at the counter, bring your own drinks, chips & salsa to the table and they bring the entrees to the table when ready.) I have had better food, both in Mexico City and elsewhere in the Bay Area. Sorry, I really wanted to like this place but for me, it's 2 stars.

All I can say is WOW! The presentation of the food deserves all the stars in the world. They actually take the time to make their food look so amazing! Even a simple quesadilla looks super fancy that you don't want to eat it! This place is HIDDEN in a golf/soccer shop and you have to go into the building to find the restaurant. Thanks to fellow yelpers for helping me find this place! We got the alhambra, quesadilla, and tacos and all of it was pretty good. I would definitely recommend the alhambra because it was super delicious and has all the toppings that you would want on there. For some reason their rice is addicting and you just want moreeee.. The staff is also very friendly and are very accommodating to your needs! Definitely would recommend this place even if the prices are a little on the expensive side.

  • Sean B.

awesome and consistent! I've eaten so many things in the menu but this review is specifically for the fajitas. The two sauces you get with your chips are very much different from what is put on the meals. If you like spicy if the fajitas are definitely a way to go. The reason being is that there's a habanero sauce they put on it. It's a red sauce and it's delicious but it's got a kick. So if you don't like a spicy ask for it on the side. Just my two cents I don't mind sweating!

My boyfriend and I first found this place as we were driving back to the city one night and craving Mexican food. He pulled up Yelp on his phone, and this was the highest rated place on the list, and for good reason. Just thinking about the food here makes my mouth water. If you like authentic, fresh, and quite frankly, addictive Mexican food, this is the right place!

Despite the fact that the building looked like it had been designed by a person who primarily specializes in roadside rest stop architecture, and the airport & driving range ambiance, it was really enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and the food was amazing - not at all what I expected.

Stumbled in here after playing with our kids at coyote point. Yelp was sooooo right about this place. Totally hidden inside the gold range building. Food was gorgeous and tasted so fresh and yummy. I got the Alhambres. Holy cow. Yum. Salsas and chips were great. Also, Kids hot dog was surprisingly good considering it's just a kids hot dog.

  • John R.

I'm not sure why this restaurant has such rave reviews. First of all, it's in the lobby of a golf range. Not exactly the best ambiance. As far as the food goes, the salsa is made with marinara sauce. That's right, MARINARA SAUCE. When the entre came out it was beautifully presented but nearly flavorless. If I could tell the owner anything it would be to spend more time on the flavor and less on the presentation.

You know, we were very excited to try this place based on the yelp reviews.. I think the chef should have been an artist.. It's quite frankly very boring Mexican food.. With pretty sour cream decor.. The man behind the counter was pleasant it seemed rather slow. We were there on a Monday afternoon. We won't be back.. Well maybe to the driving range

What a gem! Hidden inside the Burlingame Golf Center exists this fabulous little Mexican restaurant run by Gabriel. Despite what you order, you will notice one thing in common - all are elegantly plated and intricately designed. The food has more of a homemade vibe to it, and is made with a lot of TLC. It is far from your average Mexican food. I've had the chance to try the following while dining here, and through catering meals at the office: - chips, guac, and salsa: Very fresh, "real" corn chips served with a super creamy guacamole, and spicy habanero and fire roasted varieties of salsa. - chicken enchiladas verde: Yummy! Tangy tomatillo sauce and deliciously cheesy. - cheese quesadilla: Plain and simple. Great for kids and/or picky eaters. - vegetable quesadilla supreme: A more hearty quesadilla option for vegetarians. Served with a generous helping of black beans and rice, this is a great meal. - vegetable fajitas: Flavorful fajita veggies served with warm, flour tortillas and rice and beans. Delicious! This place offers catering options with full set-up and tear-down services. Be sure to inquire with Gabriel!

Man, is the place awesome! Gabriel is a great guy! Was on a vacation here from Boston, never had such good Mexican food! The fajitas were insane! And so were the enchiladas that we got even though they were not on the menu! The guac is freshly made and with some added hot sauce (which is fresh again) is FANTASTIC! To top it all, the friend banana + ice cream! Nothing, absolutely nothing to complain about! PS: they have some good Mexican beer too! Not just regular Corona and Dos Equis, ask for it.

Great food and value for top notch Mexican food. Try the corn quesadillas for sure. They aren't on the menu but are fantastic when they are freshly eaten in the restaurant. There is a park, field, putting green and driving range which gives you lots of options with kids. The burritos are incredibly flavored and decorated, and the salsas are fresh and warm. So so good.

My husband and I had Gabriel & Daniel's last night for dinner. Wow was the service GREAT. So friendly and attentive. Unexpected for counter service at a sporting center complex café. Everything was fresh and grilled to order. The presentation was beautiful and the food (I had a taco salad, my husband a steak burrito) tasted great! The green salsa is a must try. Kind of hard to find if you have never been - look for the little Mexican man pointing the way.

Yup, weird location inside a golf course clubhouse. The staff was really friendly and yes, presentation was very interesting. However, the food was a disappointment after seeing such great reviews. I ordered the steak Alhambres and it came lukewarm (probably because it took so long to design it). The meat itself was good, but everything else was just OK. The steak burrito was also just OK - hubby didn't care for it much. Chicken tacos were a little above average, according to my SIL. I took a small bite and the chicken was dry. Oh, the chips & salsa was decent, but pricey for a tiny bowl of salsa. The fries were not good at all - tasted like frozen fries you buy at the supermarket. The best dish was the free vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and caramelized banana. The wait is LONG for the food... We sat down at 7p. Burrito came out at about 730p, my dish 740p, and 745p for the chicken tacos (server admitted that it was "forgotten"). The three of us agreed we won't be back...

I am a big foodie. I have heard about this resturant from others and I am usually not easily impressed. The guacamole and salsa were so flavorful and fresh. We ordered the Alamambra with pork and it was over the top. Spicy and full of flavor. I will go out of my way to come back!

I was skeptical of this place due to the strange location but decided to give it a go based on the reviews. Needless to say, I'm glad I did. I chose the Mexicana dish with steak/chicken combo. The presentation was amazing and the dish did not disappoint. Everything tasted fresh and the proportion of the different items was perfect. I will be back for sure.

Wonderful guys and the food is prepared very professionally and its tasty. I suggest getting food heater to keep dishes warm while on top of the counter. It is a little cold by the time we get it. Otherwise I highly recommend the place to all my Yelp Friends

This place is great. I come here very often and the service is so friendly. They obviously care a lot about their business and customers. The food is superb as well, and the price is more than reasonable.

Great food ...on a golf coarse ... Actually the restaraunt is in the small clubhouse .. You can hit a bucket of balls, play nine or get a lesson ... A little known gem

Extremely impressed with this place! Amazing service, so friendly and helpful. And the food was to die for! The presentation was so unexpected and a great surprise. The chef came out and talked to our group, after staying open late for us. Will definitely be going back!

So, I checked out yelp to find a good place to eat close to my hotel.. Turns out this place is walking distance so off I went.. What a great surprise! Best food I have had all week! The dish was beautiful in its presentation and the taste was very good! Highly recommend this place!!

Not too expensive for what you get. Grilled fresh, great tortillas, awesome presentation. And at the driving range! Awful chips, though.

Quick tip - Its in a golf shop! Pros - Food taste as good as it looks! Sometimes they give away free dessert samples! Cons - Kinda slow service - normally 2 people there. I first heard about this place on the news. Two brothers sob story - trying to make it in the restaurant industry. When i first saw their dishes it would make even Bobbly Flay jealous. The restaurant is inside a golf shop (talk about a hole in the wall). You are not lost! EVERYTHING taste fantastic. I recommend the quesadilla and the alambres (which is like fajitas). Even their home made salsa (served warm). This is not your traditional taqueria cheap street food style mexican food Sure they use Costco chips, so what its freaking chips.

I've been coming here for about 11 years and the food is always good and the presentation is art. The location is not what most would want but the food more than make up for it.

The food we ordered was high quality and presented pretty artistically. The girl at the counter has some neat tattoos and a lot of attitude. Definitely seems like the last place on the planet she would choose to be. She cut me off midsentence with some real aggression to tell me they have no guacamole and only loosened up after I started laughing at how obviously annoyed she was to be there. Why did I dock two stars? * they didn't have guacamole (it's all over the menu) * they didn't have fries (my dad ordered and paid for a sandwich that was supposed to come with fries) * they didn't have salads * they didn't have soups All in all the tacos I had were great, and kudos for the artsy patterned sour cream drip. The setting doesn't matter much, but service is crap.

I wanted to love this place... I really did.. When I first heard about it I though.. Who knows Mexican food better then white golfers.... ok... then my wife convinced me to come based on the reviews. I looked at the pictures and the food looks very pretty. We came for dinner... my wife had the fajitas and I had The rosie special.... they looked nearly identical when they came out... a slightly different pattern around the side of the plate... When we started to eat... other then the spiciness of the Rosie Special... I could not tell the difference between the 2 dishes. The ingredients were nearly identical. Once we started to eat it... I have say it was nothing special...beyond the pretty presentation. Service was slow.. the food was a on the cold side.... and we did not even get the free icecream I read about... not sure how this place gets such high reviews!

It was great but it was not easy to find this place. This little cafe is located in the Golf Center and it shares with a golf shop. Our GPS leaded us to the wrong direction......LOL The menu is very simple but the food was very good. I got the Quesadilla with grilled chicken. The presentation was so nice and fancy. They used fine ingredients. Good Flavors. My friend got the Steak Fajitas. Again very creative presentation. I tried a little bit and it was delicious too.

Muy fantastico!!!' Chips n salsa are fresh unique explosive with flavors and the view is nice watching the planes land. I would've never figured some of the best Mexican I've had north of the border is tucked away in a driving range center!! The presentation, customer service is excellent, had a lot of local patrons! Normally I skip te rice and beans but you don't want to miss it here! fish tacos were very good

I found this place on yelp while in town for night and decided to check it out. I was a bit apprehensive because it's located in a driving range clubhouse but I gave it a shot and MAN am I glad I did! The atmosphere is about what you'd expect from a golf club; mediocre at best but the food. OMG! Unreal how good the food is! This place will be at the top of my return list!!

Food- 4 star Atmosphere - 2 star ( it is a golf shop) Presentation - 5 star Value - 5 star Best restaurant within walking distance of the doubletree hotel.

When I found this place on yelp, I thought that it would be regular restaurant. Turns out it is just a grill INSIDE the golf course. Regardless, the food was actually really good. And not very expensive. The food is beautifully presented (see picture). We also got free dessert. Nice place and good food.

We tried this place at their Burlingame location and loved the food. Now, they have a place located in the food court of the Hillsdale Shopping Center, San Mateo. The last place anyone would think of getting quality Mexican food is in a cafeteria setting in a shopping center. I ordered a steak tostada salad. Very nicely prepared, a work of art. The quality of the ingredients were excellent. Two women sitting next to me said, "excuse me sir, that is beautiful, what is it" ? They looked at their burgers from some near by place and their facial expressions said, "we should have gone to this place". Atmosphere???? none. Great food, yes!

  • Tina L.

You have to ignore that this place is in the driving range. The food was excellent. My colleague and I ordered 1 burrito and 2 tacos and shared the plates. We also ordered guacamole. The guacamole was a bit salty but overall everything was excellent. The chef even came out of the kitchen and asked us us how the meal was. I hit hidden jem near the San Francisco Airport. Will return next time.

An ample lunch for 2 adult and 2 kids for under $40. That alone would make this a great find. The fact that it was artfully presented and absolutely delicious make G&D Mexican Grill just about perfect.

Hidden but obviously not underrated. There's a reason this place has so many good reviews - it's the bomb. Sure, it's part of a golf club and I wouldn't take my girlfriend here for a nice dinner, but that doesn't take away from their awesome food & great services.

The food taste as good as it looks. Full if flavor, fast and fresh! Our flight crew are regulars here & they have Southwest Airlines stuff up as decor which makes us feel at home. The staff are so nice & again the food is amazing. Can't go wrong having lunch at this hidden gem.

What a find! If you're ever stuck in 101 traffic in Burlingame with a hunger pang, head to Gabriel and Daniels! Great steak quesadilla and chicken tacos plus a margarita with a lovely view of the planes coming into SFO beats road rage any day! We'll definitely be back! He's super friendly and such an awesome small business owner. He takes care in the presentation and makes a mean fried banana treat. Thank you, Gabriel!

  • Ellis S.

The food is excellent! It's a place you'd never find cruising the main street looking for a typical restaurant. It occupies the snack bar concession in the clubhouse at the Burlingame Golf center. But if you're looking for unique and wonderful Mexican food, don't let the off-the-beaten-path location deter you. I highly recommend this place! And if you're inclined to hit some golf balls or play a little soccer before or after dinner, well then you're already there!

  • Jeff V.

The food is very good here and the presentation is a work of art. It can be confusing which meal is you as they don't do a very good job of keeping track of who's who's when they're busy. Don't expect fast service, and the owner, while seemingly smiling most of the time, can be rude. Great food, but the service aspect could really improve.

  • Nellie N.

The owners here really put in a lot of thought and effort into their food, if only more restauranteurs were so dedicated. The veggie quesadilla was hands down the best thing I had here. The veggies were grilled nicely, and the rice that came with it was tasty. Unfortunately I'd love to give them more stars for effort, but the other dishes were not as satisfying. While they looked fantastic, the fillings (chicken/steak) were a bit light and most of the burrito was tortilla, black beans and tomatillo sauce. The tomatillo sauce was good, but overall I thought the food was a bit heavy on the spicy, and light on the other flavors you might expect from Mexican food. Honestly, after a few bites, I was done with the burrito. It wasn't bad by any stretch, but I already had enough tomatillo sauce and black beans with the veggie quesadilla. I would actually prefer pintos or refried in a burrito, but there was no option for it. Don't let my review get in your way of trying this place, it is absolutely worth trying. The flavors just didn't do it for me, and they didn't have any of my Mexican favorites. I would suggest they add some classics like -Aqua Fresca -Carnitas -Pintos -Al Pastor But if you like spicy, black beans, and tomatillo sauce, this would be a 5 star for you.

Wow, what a find. Wandered in here after reading the reviews and loved it. Nestled in a golf pro shop, this place's food could easily be in a $$$ restaurant. Gabrielle greets every customer in his crisp white Chef's uniform with a warm hello and calls everyone friend. Chips and salsa are provided if dining in and right after dipping my tortilla in the tomatillo, I knew I'd made the right choice. Ordered the Fajitas and as others have shown via their photos, the foods a work of art. Even better is the taste. Complimented with the above mentioned tomatillo and this place is a winner. Luckily my company puts me up at the Doubletree which is located directly next store so I'll be back for sure. Not exactly cheap but well worth the cost. Nice work Gabrielle.

Great place to grab a quick bite to eat considering it is in a golf pro shop. However, they charge you for chips and salsa and the salsa taste like marinara with some spices added to it. The dishes look beautiful as they spend a lot of time plating them. Overall, Good place to grab a quick bite to eat during your kids practice or after the driving range!

What a surprise! We are from NJ and found this place on yelp. It is off the beTen path and you may be tempted no just give up. Tucked behind the building along with a pro shop is this food gem. Awesome presentation (see my picture) and very good food. Yummy sangria and good margs capped off our meal. Staff was very friendly and so were the other patrons. You must try this place.

I just don't get where these 5 star reviews are coming from??!! Maybe they are excited because it's a Mexican restaurant in such an odd location. Or maybe it's the unique sour cream drizzle that makes for cool presentation. But, this is just an average at best Mexican restaurant. It's not awful. But, I won't be going out of my way to come back here. The prices are all $3 higher than on their online menu which is annoying. If you're stuck at one of surrounding hotels it'll do. But that's really the best thing I can say, "it'll do".

  • Michael R.

Tucked in to the golf center so it's a little tricky to find if it's your first time. Great little place to grab some really authentic Mexican grub! I started with chips & salsa which was very good but I'm not used to the warm salsa and still prefer a cooler temperature, but the flavor was very good. I had the steak burrito which was also very good. I would've liked a little more steak and a little less rice & beans but I'd definitely go back and recommend this place! The presentation is great for a small little Mexican kitchen in a golf shop!

Up the street from the Embassy Suites where a conference was going on, this little gem is nestled away in a driving range club house. Seriously, the only way I found it was when I was goofing around with the monocle to decide on what to eat for lunch that day. Got the Rita Special and thoroughly enjoyed it. This place is no frills - it looks like a short-order cook station for Mexican food - and there really is no trimmings that would drive the cost of food up. I got plenty of food with my order and even went back up for more tortillas and salsa without any guff from the gentlemen behind the counter. My lunch companion was also thoroughly impressed - hailing from the West coast and transplanting to DC, he was lamenting the lack of good Mexican food on the East coast. He gave it two thumbs up with a mouthful.

The workplace here gets catering from here on occasion and the food is solid. I've eaten here on occasion and the chefs really pride themselves on presentation. I was shocked at how nicely they plated my quesadilla. Most Mexican restaurants just slop on the beans, plop on the rice and throw the main course on top. *cough* Celia's! *cough cough* Not here! My quesadilla was dressed nicely with swirls of sour cream and guacamole. Meats are cooked well and the service is friendly and fast. My go tos are: Carne asada quesadilla and chicken a la mexicana!

I used to work at the Burlingame Golf Center and I used to eat Gabriel's everyday. I stopped by last weekend to get some food and I forgot how delicious his burritos are. Gabe and Pablo are working very hard and making customers very happy. Not to mention they are selling their salsa...which is AMAZING! If you are looking for the perfect burrito, give it a try!

Finally got to try this hidden spot and it was so good that I'm reluctant to post this... I'd like to keep it quiet and to myself. Easy to get to and park. Prices are reasonable(FYI-they don't take Amex). The food was fresh and the flavors were great. I ordered take out so I can't comment on the presentation, but I don't think that's a big deal either way. Its more of a snack bar setup than a restaurant. Highly recommend the burrito. Tryin the tacos next.

Delish! The owner stayed open for us after we stumbled upon this place, which we were very grateful for after seeing the food! The girl at the counter was really unfriendly, but she made good guacamole anyway.

My wife and I went here after flying into Sfo. Really tucked away and hard to find, but the service here really set things apart. Great presentation ("Jiro dreams of sushi" meets Mexican food in terms of presentation), really appreciative staff, and a quaint ambiance.

I wanted to get together for lunch with a friend who lives in SF, so we agreed to meet halfway in Burlingame. We decided to give this place a try based on Yelp reviews, and we were in for a treat! Getting there: My GPS lead me astray, and it took awhile to find it. It really is the most unassuming place. If you pass the DoubleTree hotel, then you missed the entrance to the golf course and have gone too far. When we walked in, we weren't sure what to expect, but it is a counter in a golf course clubhouse, and please, don't be put off by the appearance. Food: Chips and Salsa were good. I wasn't a fan of the red salsa, but the green one was very yummy. I even asked for refills. My friend ordered the Taco Salad, and I ordered a Supreme Quesadilla with grilled chicken. When the guy brought out the plates, to echo what others have said, their presentation is beautiful! It was deliciously displayed, and tasted just as good as it looks. Perfectly balanced portions of the guac, salsa, sour cream, cheese, rice and beans. Done just right. My friend enjoyed her fresh taco salad as well. Service: Gabriel himself came out to refill our waters, and to chat with us. While we were wrapping up our meal, he came out with dessert of pumpkin pie a la mode, and it was on the house! Woo-hoo! You pay afterwards at the register, and while there I noticed large frames filled with pictures of adorable kids holding toys. Gabriel and Daniel organize toy drives to take down to kids in need in Mexico, and all the photos just warmed my heart. Can't get much better than good food, and good-hearted chefs. 5 stars from me - and I'm definitely coming back!

This is the biggest gem of a restaurant I've ever found. The salsas are excellent (one of the salsas is served warm) and the guacamole is delicious. Each plate is made with great ingredients and superb presentation. I want to return here again and again.

Okay, this place is awesome. For a place located at a golf centre, I wasn't expecting much at all. In fact, I was expecting a mediocre burger and fries type of place but it's awesome. The presentation of their food is beautiful and they really take the time to prep the food. At first I was only going to get something small like a muffin and coffee but after seeing people order I caved in and got their Nachos Supreme...for myself. And myself only since my husband was taking golf lessons. So goooooood. I wish my stomach was bigger, I couldn't finish it. :(

So I don't write a lot or reviews, but wow...amazing food and the staff is top notch. Service was excellent, the guy who runs it was super kind, and to top it all off the food and juice smoothie were awesome. I could go on and on with kind words about the little restaurant in a driving range pro shop. Simply put, just go.

I hope to see Gabriel and Daniel's in a Bay Area spot light show, one day! My friend and I were both delighted to find a really good Mexican restaurant at...a Driving RANGE!! Gabriel very took good care of us. He made sure to explain the menu and answered any questions we had. Our steak and Chicken tacos were made by a genius. We wanted one of each and he combined them and made the half/half for us because they knew we were sharing. BRILLIANT! The Salsa sampler is AMAZING. Guac and green salsa were my fave. Rice and beans pass the taste test as did the Nachos! Everything plated is presented with cool artistry using thin streaks of sour cream. Nice visual touch. I can't wait to visit BGC to hit balls, work up an appetite and eat some delicious Mexican food. The dessert is A MUST. Try the fried banana with ice cream!!

Dining alone on business and found this place in yelp close to my hotel. I'm glad I gave it a shot. I ordered Rosie's special with "steak" ( really its just sliced beef ) and chips and salsa. The entree was very good and very pretty to look at and I enjoyed it a lot, but the chips were not home made, just bagged chips and the salsa tasted like it came from a jar which I'm sure it did. All in all, entree was good, chips and salsa not so good. Better than average "quick service" type meal, atmosphere not restaurant quality of course as this is counter service in a driving range pro shop. My guess is that this is a stepping stone for them before opening a restaurant.

WOW! Dare I say this is the most amazing hidden gem in Burlingame. I have lived here my entire life and my coworker and I just found this on yelp. This was the most beautiful Mexican food that I have ever eaten, and it was sooo good! Gabriel came out and talked to us for a little bit. Talk about making you feel like family. Not only did I come back to work and tell ALL of my coworkers about this. I am going to bring everyone here. I would give them 6 stars if I could!!!!

Location: don't trust your GPS if you go there, finding golf center is a little bit tricky. Chips and Salsa: amazing salsas!!! and chips were super yumi as well. Tacos: beautiful presentation (even took a picture of it), great taste, maybe a bit too cold when served. Service: great, super nice people and cute chef. Drinks: refills are not free :-(

OMG best burrito I have ever had. I was in the South San Francisco area a few weeks back and was craving Mexican food. I am so glad I logged on to my yelp account. They served food to everyone but asked us to take our own plates. The cashier gave me a condescending look when I was ordering. Horrid service. Food wasn't good at all. Don't visit. It's a waste of time. I can't believe I have to give them at least one star. They don't even deserve that in my opinion.

Chicken quesadilla suprema is awesome here. Forego the burrito and order this instead! Random that this place is in a golf course, and is considered the best of the best in Burlingame! The presentation of the dishes is very aesthetically pleasing. Dishes are around $9 each.

  • Tommy H.

dang this place was bomb. maybe the best burrito I've had. the ingredients were great quality and the dish had a very appropriate amount of spiciness. the presentation was a really nice surprise. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you are hungry after a long flight

So..... we ordered fajitas and nachos. Both tasted great, but the fajitas came in this mountain shaped mess with sour cream over the top. It was delish, but half the fun of fajitas is assembling what you like in the tortilla. This was alllll mixed together. :-/ Anyway, the nachos were tasty too, but when they were ready the guy put them on top of the counter thingy, and they sat there for like 10 mins. He never said anything, so they were cold. They have good food here, but maybe they just need to work on a few things, maybe it was an off day.......?

First things first. If you are calling to place a take-out order, press 6. I am a big fan of Gabe's food. He puts a lot of effort and hard work into each dish he serves and that's always a good thing. I have been here for lunch many times and the food is always great. I have also used their catering service and that's where Gabe shines. They show up with real plates and real silverware. He refuses to use paper plates and plastic forks b/c he serves real food. I respect that. It does take a little while for the food, but that's what happens when you really cook folks. In any event, Gabe is the man, his food is bomb and you should stop reading this and head over there for lunch right now!

A bit hard to find - it's in the golf center building, on the side of the driving range. A little mom & pop sort of place, they're a bit slow as they only have 2 people running the kitchen, but the food is tasty and really beautifully presented. Burritos may seem expensive at $9, but they're super & mojado (wet) - they include guac, cheese, sour cream, and are smothered in 2 sauces by default. Quesadillas come with rice & beans. They have 2 homemade salsas, a red and a green, and the green is made with fresh roasted chiles, and is delicious - rich flavor, and reasonably mild. Very friendly, and very relaxed atmosphere. There are a few tables outside too for when it's nice and not too windy out. They also have a basic selection of Mexican beer, and smoothies as well.

I was so excited to try this place as I'm new to Burlingame and going into the City to my favorite taquiera can sometimes be inconvenient. The reviews here are great but I found the food to be very ordinary and not of a true Mexican flavor. We had both the carne asada and pollo. The pollo was nothing different than I could make at home and the carne asada was just grilled steak with no flavor. I watched as the cook took the cheese for our food out of a huge store bought bag grated cheese...you think he'd at least hide the bag! Neither the chips or salsa were worth eating. The staff seemed bored, they weren't rude...more just indifferent. It was very disappointing and, for now, I'll keep driving to the Mission for my burritos.

I must have gotten there at the end of the day because they were not busy and took awhile to get our food. I had to ask them if my food was ready or if they were gonna bring it to us, because my plate was sitting on the counter. The staff didnt seem to be clear on what I should do after I ordered. My plate wasnt as warm as I would have wanted it to be due to waiting. The food presentation was awesome, The price was kinda above what I usually expect, but not a problem. The food was plentiful. Parking was at the golf course, almost kinda hidden. I will go back and give them another try to see how the service is. I based on eating here due to yelp, so I feel its only fair to give a place a 2nd chance to really determine if the service is bad, or just bad timing.

What a very pleasant surprise. After we found it because our GPS took us to the wrong spot it is actually behind the Doubletree Hotel very very good food great personal service. It is obvious that the owner Gabriel and his employees take a great pride in the restaurant. My husband and I both had the taco salad with steak. The mixture of green peppers, sautéed onions and the salsas were just excellent. If you can make a point to go to Gabriel & Daniels you won't regret it.

Food was great! Highly recommend the veggie burrito and Rosie spicy guacamole. You won't get an authentic Mexican ambience sitting at the golf range, but the food makes up for it. The owner was overly nice and appreciative for our business.

Gabriel & Daniel's Mexican Grill is probably the best Mexican restaurant that I've been to in years. I got the chicken burrito. The presentation was flawless. The tomatillo sauce was a fantastic counterpoint to the spicier salsa. The side of guacamole I got was more subtle but rich . The best part was Gabriel himself. He came out and greeted my colleague and I. He was so friendly and was honestly asking our opinion on his food. It is really hard to beat this experience. I almost didn't want to post anything because I wanted to keep this place a secret but they deserve the great reviews and the business that comes with it. Thanks Gabriel!

Thanks to Yelp, I found this amazing place during a business trip -- and went back three times. The food is wonderful, but it's their extraordinary service that makes this spot so good. They reopened the grill so I could treat my grandkids to beautiful, delicious food. Thank you, Gabriel Gomez! (Don't miss the chance to donate to their holiday kids fund -- toys or cash welcome!)

Never in a million years would you expect to find something like this at a driving range. The ambiance is what you'd expect the food so much better.
