Places like this are the reason Yelp exists. It's a hole in the wall that you wouldn't necessarily find without Yelp or a recommendation from a friend. The make some seriously good sandwiches.that bread is so soft and perfect. Get here fast, get here now. Turkey, avocado and cheese sandwich was 9/10 superb.

Came here for lunch with my pops. Pros: - Owner is super nice and aims to please. - Prices are reasonable. I'd say same price as subway. - Subs are simple yet taste like they have something special in them. - Has soda fountain. (Endless refills) Cons: - A/C was not working the day I came in or at least wasn't blowing cold air. (Came on a hot day). - Soda fountain was out of almost every flavor soda. I think there were 2 flavors to choose from. - parking can be a headache because he shares with 2 or 3 other storefronts. One being a quickie mart. All in all this place is a great place to get a tasty inexpensive sub.

I work across the street and come to sub king when I'm craving a delicious fresh sandwich. Seems to be a family owned business with quick service, fresh ingredients and always willing to give a suggestion if you're not sure what you want. I've tried a few of the hot sandwiches and bowls - beware though the super spicy sauce is very spicy.

Delicious and fresh subs, their bread is amazing. They also make an awesome spicy sauce. Friendly service. I've tried their teriyaki bowl as well and its very good.

I had to update my review for this place. The sandwich I tried this time was their Italian with their special sauce (forgot the name). The sandwich was really tasteful and juicy. The bread was fresh and soft. The sauce they added extra tasted amazing. Lots of flavor and GREAT customer service.

What can I say about my favorite local sandwich shop? I was supposed to take a photo of my lunch (Italian Cold Cut) for Yelp but anxiously devoured it the instant I set foot in my office. I eat at the sandwich chains on a regular basis but stop by Submarine King when I need to make my day that much better. I've tried Roast Beef, Turkey & Cheese and others but Italian Cold Cut is my fave. You can't go wrong with whatever you order. The bread is slim, fresh and tasty. With generous meat, just enough mayo, diced pickles, mustard, onions, lettuce and spices, you taste everything at once instead of feeling overpowered by bread. I'm ready for another one! Sun, one of the owners perhaps, is always excited to share his plans to test new menu items and fine tune recipes. We the customers benefit from his passion for quality sandwiches and food.

Slightly addicted to this place... I don't eat meat. But the veggie subs make me so so happy.

The moment my husband had a bite of their sandwich, he said "oh man! This is my new place to go!" -with his mouth full lol Great sandwich for great price!

A very interesting different sandwich spot. Kind of hidden in a busy intersection. Parking is an issue. I have had several of their sandwiches and every single one has been delicious. Everything seems fresh. The Bulgogi sandwich is a must try if you like Korean food. Staff/owner is very friendly.

I love submarine king! It's impeccably clean, the man who takes your order (owner I think) is SUPER friendly, and the food is always consistently fresh and tasty. The bread is nice and squishy and I really like that they add chopped pickles for a nice crunch! Today I tried the Chicken Bacon Ranch with pepper jack instead of Swiss. They make their own ranch dressing! Simply delicious!!

Constantly driving around for work let's you try out new restaurants in different places. On my lunch break, I decided to yelp what was around locally. Came across Submarine King and man am I glad I did. The owner was extremely helpful and recommended the Spicy BBQ Chicken which was absolutely amazing! You can also get it "super spicy," but unless you have an extremely high tolerance for spicy food, I'd suggest getting it regular. Will definitely stop by to try some of the other sandwiches they have; and they have a lot. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Yes! Come in. Good food. Super friendly staff. I think I was talking to the owner. Great vibe, great food, respectable prices, great place to wait for car repairs when at pep boys across the street. Go in, you won't regret.

I love this sandwich place! I just moved back to Burbank and come here all the time. I love the way they dice their pickles! The meatball sandwich and turkey cheese avocado are my favorites but everything is great. The owner is such a nice guy and always has a smile on his face. Definitely recommend this place to any and everyone.

I have always wanted to stop here and today I did. This will be my new go to sub shop. I walked in and ot was spotless. So clean. The man making the sandwiches was so nice. I ordered a turkey avocado lovers and a roast beef avocado lovers. Good portion on the meat, avocado and cheese. Great soft bread.

It's your typical mom & pop sandwich place. Good for lunch and the people are fast and friendly. I ordered the Korean BBQ bowl with no rice (trying to eat healthy-TRYING). There wasn't much beef in the bowl but the veggies rocked. I recommend that you stick to the basics here because my friend bought a sandwich and he was quite impressed. They offer low prices and have several tables in the restaurant so you can opt to dine in too.

Had the Chicken Bacon Ranch my first visit, incredible to say the least. The homemade ranch sauce was light and welcomed, and the bread was incredibly soft. What can I say, it's a solid sandwich. Employees are incredibly nice and welcoming to boot. I'll definitely be back.

First visit yesterday. The sandwiches are extremely tasty, the oriental bowls have an amazing sauce, the place is sparkling clean and the owners are friendly and helpful. We loved it and will definitively be back!!!!

Absolutely my favorite sandwich place in Burbank. The people are friendly, happy to accommodate, recognize you when you come often enough -- and have a nice frequent customer redemption card. Ten sandwiches gets one free. Also, super tasty sandwiches. I recommend the Italian cold cuts.

Just had one of their sandwiches.. Really disappointed. I ordered a turkey avocado and cheese sandwich and added bacon with no olives and pickles... Walked back to my office to eat it.. Number 1: there was no mayo or mustard. Number 2: there was NO cheese Number 3: there was ONE skinny piece of bacon. It was pretty much nonexistent. Number 4: there was about 2 slivers of avocado, I could no even taste it. The whole "sandwich" just tasted of dry bread and red onion. Basically, this 8 dollar sandwich was terrible.. I had to scrounge through the work kitchen to find stuff to add to it. This is the second sandwich I've gotten from them.. The first time I ordered the same one, they forgot my bacon and avocado. I'm giving 3 stars because the people who work there are friendly and the little shop is cute.

I had been wanting to come here for some time now and every single time I would go they would be closed, now the day I went being a Saturday it was 2:56 when I arrived and then... I come to notice their sign that says they close at 3:00. I thought "let's go in and see what happens" the owner immediately greeted me and said I was just on time and not only that but he also recommended a sandwich to me which by the way was fabulous! I give them 5 stars!!!

  • Michael S.

Strolled in here for the first time while I was getting my oil changed, and ended up ordering their chicken pesto glaze special and I normally don't like sweet sandwiches but this one was delicious. Their bread was really good as well, as most people have noted. Finally their customer service was really good, friendly nice husband and wife I believe that are full of smiles! Will definitely be back!!

Submarine King is the best sandwich place I have ever been to. Everything is cut to perfection, the people are incredibly friendly, and the food is beyond amazing. Their bread is delicious. Wouldn't go anywhere else. They always have super inventive specials as well. Definitely recommend this place!!

Amazing little Gem!! The new chicken pesto I want to see this place grow! This is my new favorite lunch spot.

  • Jordan T.

Definitely one of my favorite places to eat in Burbank during the lunch hour. Son, the owner, is friendly, ready with a smile to take your order. They have a large variety of sandwiches, which range from amazing to (I'm told) ok. I've never tried their cold subs, I always go for something like the Chicken Bacon Ranch, the Spicy BBQ Chicken, or the Korean Beef Sub. Every one of those sandwiches is excellent, and the owner is always experimenting with new recipes so you're always in for a new surprise. I've been on a quest to get my whole office to try this place, and almost every person so far has gone back.

There subs are the best!! They taste home made and there bread is really soft , everything tastes fresh here. It was my first time here and it's definitely not going to be my last and they have boba which is awesome because I love boba !!

Love this little place ! Great sandwiches and fresh ingredients. Everything is freshly sliced. The bread is super soft and the menu is huge. I love supporting small businesses, especially great ones like submarine king !

  • Sara D.

I love this place! The sandwiches are really good, way better than the subway across the street. I'll honest, I'm kinda a plain Jane. I like my classic turkey breast with just cheese, lettuce, pickles and mayo. Hard to mess up, right? But this places delivers a delicious Classic everytime. The owner is really nice and approachable and always seems to be in a good mood. The general space is a big sparse, but it's kept in good condition be is always clean, plus they just added a fancy chalkboard menu along the counter and I know the have further cosmetic improvements in the works. The menu is huge, but everything still works, the ingredients are fresh and they deliver a wholesome product because of it. Now I'm getting hungry and I'm sad cause it's Sunday and they're closed. Oh well, I'll just visit them tomorrow!

I got the Korean bbq (bulgogi) sandwich and it was good. fresh bread, crisp vegetables, tasty meat. proprietor was very friendly. will return whenever in area.

Subway's food tastes fake after having a sandwich from here. Great service, great food, friendly owner. Got an avocado bacon turkey sub. Will come back for moooore.

  • Lillian M.

They have an avocado lovers menu! As far as my family goes.... having a section on their menu that includes avocado on every sandwich is a huge deal... because I live in a house full of avocado eating folks. So far, we've purchased about 5 different sandwiches and all of them have been excellent (per the family members who ate them). Another plus is they have boba drinks! Really great boba drinks (that's what hooked me). There are some places that specialize in these babies that don't make them as well as Submarine King. The only minus I can see is the hours. They are only open until 5 during the week and close at 3 on Saturday. I live close by and it took years before my timing landed me there during hours it was open.

    (4)
  • Mary M.

The bread here is super soft and baked daily. Really delicious and affordable sandwiches. Recommend the Korean beef sandwich, the beef is sweet almost like teriyaki. Boba smoothies are awesome and everything is really fresh. Very friendly owner and cooks.

    (5)
  • Nick O.

The food tasted good. It wasn't the best sandwich I have ever had but it was really worth it. I think they just need better bread. The service was good. The lady helping me was really nice but agreed with everything I said which made it hard to chose what I wanted to eat. I think you should try it yourself to know.

  • Leonardo L.

Second time here. First time I had the Korean beef with bul gohgi sauce sandwich and immediately fell in love with it. Great marinade and cooked just right. Came here today and went with Turkey, bacon, avocado and cheese. This sandwich was also put together just right. Not too much or too little of any ingredients, and their bread is fluffy with the perfect amount of chewiness. I also got a Korean beef sandwich to go, so my wife could taste what I was raving about.

  • Rob P.

Oh Burbank... you never cease to disappoint me! Don't believe all the stars, the only thing Submarine King is the king of is mediocrity. I came here in part from, what looked like pretty good reviews. I ordered the BBQ Beef sandwich and it was decent at best. While the bread the sandwich came in was soft, fresh and nice everything else was meh. The heart of the sandwich includes roast beef, cheese and bbq sauce... and sadly there wasn't a lot there...well except the bbq sauce. It honestly felt like a bread and bbq sandwich. The roast beef tasted packaged and the cheese was nothing special. Meh...

  • Angela G.

Owners are super friendly and the service is quick. I usually get the Korean beef sub with the owners recommendations on toppings. The meat is flavorful and the bread is soft and seems fresh. I love that they have boba drinks, but they only come as slushes and I prefer over ice.

  • Drew O.

I won't post something on yelp unless it is positive. This place is instantly my favorite sandwich shop after recently moving to burbank . All the ingredients are fresh which is a huge plus. The owner is super nice and extremely helpful . Highly recommend if you like tasty sandwiches!!

  • Tommy D.

I've been coming here for months best subs in USA and the smoothies are best prices and amazing. Plus the customer service is best in class along with their new special the chicken bacon ranch with their home made ranch sauce is to die for!

  • Ryan R.

These guys are great. Friendly staff/owners and quick service. The subs taste great and never disappoint. This is way better than subway and you get more for your money.

  • Milton C.

I work next door to this establishment and I must say that I am very pleased. The food is awesome, the service is incredible and all employees are very friendly. They even remember your name and what you normally order. This type of service is rare to find, especially in the greater Los Angeles area. I highly recommend eating here.

    (5)
  • Kaori T.

Meh the sandwiches here aren't too hot. The price is a tad too high for the quality, but you know what -- it's quick and convenient. I did try their Korean Beef Bowl. It was HORRIBLE. Do come here for a quick sandwich fix during a lunch break, but don't try to get that beef bowl. You will be terribly dissapointed.

    (2)
  • Onebinrob B.

Where do they get that bread from? I normally do not eat bread, but I eat theirs. The subs have just the right pickle tang with the slightest taste of mayo, right crunch of the lettuce and slices of black olives! The salads...are crispy and crunchy. So far, my favorite item is the Korean Beef Sub! What is cool, your 10 meal is free and it comes with chips and a drink. Another factor for why I love this place is that they are quick, cheap, they are courteous and happy about having my business. If you are a fancy pants and cannot get down on the common ground, don't come here. This place is plain...in and out! I go for the FOOD!

    (5)
  • Drew M.

Love them! Love their food. I always get the same thing and I really respect that the woman ALWAYS knows who I am and what I order. You are greeted with a smile and it's always the same lady. I think she must work there with her family who makes the sandwiches in the back. All are super nice. Anyway, the sandwiches are awesome and way better than subway down the street for the exact same price! They also have a great rewards punch card! One with actual rewards that don't take a year to earn on. Highly highly recommended.

    (5)
  • Gladis G.

I had the best teriyaki sandwich here! Even better than subway. Their smoothies are also delicious.

    (5)
  • Mike H.

Great subs. Great customer service. Close to work. Next to 7 11. The lady/owner behind the counter is very nice and it's cool how she remembers most of the regulars' "regular" order. I've had a few different sandwiches here but the roast beef is my favorite.

    (4)
  • Jeff K.

The place is the bomb! Awesome sandwhiches. The turkey and Brie is really tasty and decadent. The bread is flakey and crusty while inside is all warm and gooey. The service is really friendly. You have to try it.

    (5)
  • Leo R.

I tried submarine king for the first ( and last) time today. I ordered the ham, bacon and turkey sandwich. I was pretty unimpressed with not only the quality of the meat but the amount of meat on the sandwich, I ordered a large and there was only 1 piece of bacon on the sandwich. As far as the ham and turkey, it looked and tasted like processed roll meat and there was only 2 slices of each on the entire large sandwich. I would recommend Giamela's over submarine king any day. This place is garbage

    (1)
  • Noah A.

I've tried Giamela's and Santoro's - not a fan of either. Just took my first couple of bites of Submarine King, and I'm an instant convert. Their bread is insanely soft and delicious. The sandwiches are composed perfectly. Great flavor, very fresh feeling. This coupled with the price, you simply cannot beat it. Very happy!

    (5)
  • Ellen C.

Amazing bread! I agree with all of the reviews that their bread is the best. Choose this place over Subway. The smoothie I got wasn't the best, but they don't pride themselves on smoothies so I won't knock them any point there.

    (5)
  • Melinda G.

Oh I do love me some Submarine King! Forget all of the other sandwich chains out there, Submarine King is by far and away the best. Anything and everything here is awesome but if you're looking for the best of the best then you have to look up the avocado lovers section of the menu! If you live in Cali and don't love avocado then you aren't a real Californian! But just incase you are one of those weirdos they have plenty of other great subs without avocado.

    (4)
  • David C.

I've been coming here for a few years. It looks like they have new ownership in place. It was pretty good before, but now its even better because they changed the bread. The bread was fine but a little thick for my taste. The new bread is light and chewy and just right. I agree that this place is now better than Santoro's or Giamela's. Those two Burbank institutions are good but they're also kinda gross if you know what I mean. The sandwiches at Submarine King make you feel as if you are making a good and relatively healthy decision, while you need to go on a fast for few days after eating Santoro's or Giamela's.

  • Louis B.

Bread was super fresh and soft. Sandwich was a good size for the price. Will be eating from here again very soon! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good lunch time sandwich.

  • Dave N.

I've been coming here for years! I love it and eat here for lunch atleast once a week I recommend it to anyone looking for a good sub and come on subway gets old! The owner is a very sweet lady and I tell every one I know to stop by!

    (5)
  • Lou E.

Bobas - pineapple, Thai tea.. well all of them are tasty. Bobas and sandwiches go well together. I've ate here too many times to know that the french bread they use is far too much bread for a sandwich. It could use another layer of meat but they just don't roll like that. And speaking of roll that is what you get. A sandwich roll. The thing is so freaking tight it's literally submarine tight. I don't like their sandwiches much and their not that big really. It's all bread no meat. I'm being extra serious with you. Listen, it's mostly bread and little meat. They don't balance out and you're left throwing out big chunks of hard bread. Another bad is that any sandwich that has bacon or you specifically order bacon you'll find that the bacon is rock hard and in pieces. Don't say I didn't warn you. I bit into one really hard and almost lost a cavity. You at least get to taste savory bacon bits instead of olive pits like Dennis Kucinich. The good part about this place is the service. It's quick at lunchtime and you're quickly back out to slay the rest of your workday.

  • Jeff G.

Great food. Great prices. Forget the chains. Try the potato salad!

    (5)
  • C R.

This place a mom and pop version of subway. I had the Italian Meats sub. It was fine Sure, its better than subway, but its still mediocre. The decor is actually worse than subway, but I suppose thats not why you go here.

    (3)
  • Diego M.

Their cold subs are great. I did notice some bad reviews on their hot subs which I've never tried. Large Kings Sub for the win. Fresh, fluffy bread, and the roast beef, turkey, and ham all taste amazing. Update: I tried one of their hot subs, their BBQ chicken sandwich. Delicious.

    (5)
  • Justin W.

Good, not amazing sandwiches. Sometimes, though, i will get myself a sub-king craving! Soft bread, great tasting meats, and fresh ingredients. Overall, a great lunch spot with above average subs. But alas, it's so hard to settle on this when Giamelas is literally a block away.

    (3)
  • Bron G.

Always a fantastic sandwich. The owner recognizes me now and already knows my order. The #1 is my go-to. The bread, perfect mixture of mayo mustard and Italian dressing makes this something I crave.

    (5)
  • Julie Z.

The bread is very fresh and the sandwiches are delish. The new owners are super friendly. Great family owned vibe. Way way way better than any other sandwiches in Burbank for great prices.

    (5)
  • Jim D.

This is my favorite sandwich shop in town. I mean the sandwiches are always good, it's always crowded and the ladies behind the counter are so friendly. I got a sandwich card so it pays off nicely. If I'm having a crummy day at work I just go here and the food and the service always make me smile. It is a funky little place and I love it.

    (5)
  • Mark R.

Let me start by saying this: I'm a single guy who doesn't cook and I KNOW SUBS. Freshly baked, soft bread? Check. Fresh meats? Check. Great menu? Check. Amazingly nice, sweet owner behind the counter with a ridiculous memory? Check. If you love subs and live in Burbank you must check this place out. It's not fancy, just a great sandwich shop tucked away in a shopping strip. Food is consistent (Boa Steakhouse should take a lesson here), quick and always satisfies. I know this is a short review but when you're good... you're good.

    (5)
  • Maria C.

Simply one of the best sandwich places! The bread is amazing. I haven't ordered anything else besides the pastrami sandwich because it's delicious! I will definitely be trying out some other sandwiches, but if you only go there once, you have to try the pastrami. the employees are super nice and your food is prepared within 5 minutes or so.

    (5)
  • Sarah G.

I've been a customer of Submarine King for about 2 years and I pick up a sandwich at least once a week. Always fresh, consistent to order and FAST. They do the perfect combo of mustard and mayo and the small is more like a large at Subway. Not to mention it's affordable and the best SERVICE.

    (5)
  • Frank C.

Great subs the bread is so good.

  • Paco M.

Submarine King, Ventura Blvd at Colfax, Stud City, across from Killer Shrimp, as I recall. Absolutely the very best pastrami I've had anywhere. When I still lived in the vicinity years ago, I could eat there at least twice a week.

Efficient Submarine Shop good variety of subs, salads, etc, super quick and friendly service, seating inside and out, parking lot, minimal decor - tv for sports.

The menu is huge! Sandwich combinations galore! Everything from roast beef to turkey to ham and more. Great place.

  • Eric R.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! SO GOOD AND SO CHEAP! their menu is huge, but every time i go i get the same thing, turkey & avocado on toasted wheat roll with a side of macaroni salad. it is delicious... i always get the "small" which is 9". the toppings they put on are great, shredded lettuce, diced olives and pickles, cheese tomatos & mustard/mayo make this a perfect lunchtime sub. filling but doesnt weigh you down. the macaroni/potato salad is HUGE and only costs $1.10. what a deal. also the lady behind the counter is great, friendly & funny. they also have a stamp card, free sub on your 10th visit. just a little perk

  • Renato D.

I can't say enough about how great this place is - I was given this place as a tip from some fellow employees, once I tasted their first sandwich (their special Korean beef sub) I became a true believer. They are so good I am there weekly, sometimes twice - Believe me, Sub King is deserving of the title! Oh, and the avocado-based subs are the bomb! RECOMMENDED!!!

    (5)
  • Courtney M.

I love this place. Their sandwiches are great and their service is quick and friendly. The small is actually quite big, I think about 8'', so it really fills you up. They also have a frequent customer card that gives you little extras. It's one of those places where you get quality every time, not like subway or pavillions where it is hit or miss whether the sandwich person can put two pieces of bread together. They are made with the small attention to detail that I love in a neatly packed sandwich every time I order. The only thing is I wish they were open more! Their hours are pretty limited but I understand, its family owned and frankly I'm tired of places forcing their employees to stay open during odd hours when people should be home with their families.

  • George S.

My roommates work down the street from this place and swear by it. When I went I was pleasantly surprised by the vastness of the menu. Any kind of sandwich you would want from good lunch sub shop. The sandwiches vary from hot pastrami to turkey and avocado. I got the large turkey, bacon, and avocado sub meal deal, which came with chips and a drink. The total was around $7 and the sub was ginormous. The bread was definitely the star of the sandwich for me. It was soft and fresh and was able to hold all the fresh veggies, meat, fixings perfectly. The veggies were super fresh and they put diced pickle on the sandwich which was fantastic. I would definitely come here for lunch on a weekly basis if I worked in the area.

  • Andrew B.

Really good subs with extremely fast service. It's been my go-to spot for lunch when I'm in the area for a while now. They also serve a small selection of Korean dishes and breakfast items.

  • Renay P.

Tasty sandwiches at a decent price. I'm really curious about trying the Korean beef because they were making some in the back when I walked in and it smelled delicious. Will be back!

    (5)
  • Ryan M.

Thumbs Middle. (c) SA. I vouch my valiant quest for the last great sandwich in the valley did not end here. But maybe I might get lost on my travels and make it back here eventually, and then realize I'm going around in circles, and head west again, which is actually north.

    (3)
  • Wendy P.

Have to increase my rating from a three to a four as I have noticed consistently better sandwiches over the past several months. Plus, the people who work there(owners?) are so damn nice. Tip: Call you order in if you are going at lunch time. They are really fast, but it is so nice to just walk in and have it ready (even if you call just five minutes before you go).

    (5)
  • Rosemary C.

I ordered the Korean Beef Bowl and it was terrible.. Hardly ANY beef at all. Maybe 5 little tiny pieces on top.. The rice was bla, the veggies were too hard.. Not happy.

    (1)
  • Michael G.

Great sandwiches! I got the teriyaki chicken sub and it was amazing. Everything tastes fresh. The chicken they use is really good. It is nothing like the frozen stuff they have at Subway. The bread is also fresh and delicious. There are some great sandwich shops in Burbank but this is my favorite. You can't beat the taste, freshness, and service.

So, if you're ever contemplating a tasty sub and you find yourself at the Subway or the Pizza Factory on Victory and Olive, cross the street immediately! Unless, of course, it's after 6:00 pm... then you're stuck with economy-of-scale joints. I'd have to double-check the close time, actually, but I've come too late in the past. The meats are high-quality -- the roast beef, in particular, seems almost fat-free. No gristle or nasty bits on any of the meat products. The bread, whether white or wheat, manages to be sturdy yet soft and tasty. They also have a rack of hard-to-find Kettle Chip flavors and about 10 menu options devoted to the great avocado. And for $3.50 to $6? That makes me very happy indeed.

One of my favorite Sandwich shops in the Valley. Very cheap for what you get, great employees. The Korean BBQ sandwich is amazing. I feel very at home when I am here. And I go here a lot. Always greeted with a smile. Try it out!

Amazing sleeper of a place. You'd never guess it. So unassuming...like a child. Man am I ever glad I went to this joint. I used to work in Burbank at a rental house and man I'd eat at this dope shack all the time. The meatball sub is just about the best I've ever had. Cooked by asians too...go figure. They must be asians raised in Italy or NYC. Damn fine meatball sub. Do yourself a favor and score one. I usually snarf down a whole 12" and I'm a tiny dude. They serve up the hits. Almost better than sex.
