Porto's is proof that God wants us to be happy! It is a fun place, one side is a bakery that is so busy, it kind of reminds me of the New York Stock Exchange. The other side is a trendy little restaurant. They have cuban food and the most creative pastries. Portos is an experience. Try to go during the slow times because the lines can be very long during peak. The have street seating. My favorites are the potato balls which are filled with meat and their desserts with cream fillings. There is a big parking lot behind the store and a back door which takes you there. .

The lines are long thats true however theyre fast. I thought is was so amuzing there was a line for everything .. 1a line to go in 2 a line to order 3 to pay for your order 4 a line to pick up your to go order 5 a line to be seated for dinne in 6 a line to pre_order a cake 7 a line to pick up pre_order cakes my family and I had the Rellenitos, Potatoes Balls, and the Meat Pies. Thier smoothies are great : mango, guava, pinenaple, mamey, Will come back..

I've only been here once while on a trip to SoCal with my family, and once was enough to entice me. Their baked goods were so yummy! Since we don't go down to SoCal very often we decided to try a little bit of everything. The guava strudle was perfectly crispy and the inside was filled with a rich guava jam. The chocolate croissant was also quite delicious! Their avocado and egg breakfast on a toasted croissant was also very good, I forgot the exact name of it. I definitely recommend visiting Porto's while in SoCal!

In a word, delicious. I'm yet to try something I don't like. As long as the lines are, Porto's does a great job of keeping the line moving.

This is one of the few places on earth for which there just aren't enough stars or superlatives to describe what a gem it is. While I find the place aesthetically horrific and overwhelming, I totally understand the need for a hangar-sized space because everyone with taste buds in a 10-square-mile radius comes here for incredible food. Ok, my first experience with Porto's, like so many others, was with their desserts...holy lord Jesus, what dark magic is this?! The chocolate chip cookies, better than sex. The mango mousse, epic. The flourless chocolate cake, a religious experience. I have high hopes for the carrot cake, though I wish you could order one without nuts, but I'll pick them out and have faith that it will be worth it. The savory food...ridiculous. From the fresh baguettes for about a buck to the tuna salad on a flaky, buttery croissant, it's ALL good. But when I stumbled upon the empanadas and the meat pies and potato balls...it was all over. It's like getting the satisfaction of stoner food while completely lucid. I crave them endlessly and thank god it's just a bit too far to go too often. Even the damned fresh squeezed orange juice and smoothies are gorgeous. How can they make everything so f-ing fabulous?? It must be some sort of pact with the devil, but I'm ok with that, as long as the empanadas and tarts hold out, who am I to judge? And if that wasn't all good enough, it's CHEAP. It must be due to the volume, which is intense. When you walk in you'll want to walk out when you see the lines but trust me, they move fast, and the slight wait is SOOOO worth it. But we've walked out with a ton of food and I honestly thought they forgot to charge for something. We love this place so much, we're planning to swing by for a bunch of goodies on our wedding day and then high-tailing it to the beach or Topanga for an impromptu picnic. What could be better? Seriously...if you haven't gone yet, you're retarded. Just nut up and go. And try a bunch of things because they're all so wonderful and life is to be enjoyed, right? Go! Go now!!

I live in NorCal and it kills me whenever I think about this bakery. I love their food, specially the Dulce de Leche Kiss! Its soooo delicious, and I crave a lot of times of this delicacie. How I wish they'll going to built a branch here in NorCal. PORTO'S BAKERY IS THE BEST!!!

Bring back the mango iced tea... Love everything! My favorite is the party size cheese turnovers. My least favorite is the parking, so my new trick is when parking is available, I eat.

This place has good food and pastries and is dirt cheap ,I mean where in town can you get a sandwich for 5 bucks . The one and major downside is that there are always lines ,but they move pretty quickly. The cheese strudels are amazing and cost like 75 cents a piece . In a town like LA ,where most places serve foo foo chi chi food ( overpriced ,tiny portions ) portos is a breath of fresh air .

Love it! Every time I drive by, the line is out the door. One trip inside and you instantly know why. The food is incredible, the staff friendly and the prices are fair.

I was downtown Burbank today shopping at IKEA when I stumbled upon Porto's because of Yelp! We came in at around 2:30 pm and they were doing great business! There were so many customers in the store for it being past prime-time lunch hour! (good sign!) The restaurant was so clean and the employees looked like they were on a mission. The customer service here was friendly, fast, and extremely attentive. The lady who helped us memorized our order and each of the specifics of our dishes, I was impressed!! I tried the potato-cheese balls and they were SO delicious-- I could probably eat them by the dozen. They had four types of cheeses: parmesan, ricotta, and two others I'm forgetting. There was plenty of seating for us and I was so impressed that Porto's Burbank had a parking lot for their customers. Now that is true accommodation!! Bravo. We ordered: The dinner plate (beans, rice, fried plantains and shredded pork) The chicken empanada The steak torta Dulce de luche Napoleon Fruit tart The dinner plate was such a nice assortment and extremely well seasoned and flavorful. The pork was some of the best we've ever had. The rice was soft and perfectly cooked. The beans were also so very fresh. The fried plantains were just an added bonus that added more WOW to the plate. The chicken empanada was okay. The filling was delicious and flavorful but I was not a fan of the crust. The steak torta sandwich was so delicious! Meat cooked perfectly and pairs well with everything on the sandwich: beans, guac, tomato, and cotija cheese! It came with plantain chips which were delicious and very unique compared to the standard potato chip. The dulche de leche napoleon proved to me that yes, there will be good food in heaven if it is this delicious on Earth. HIGHLY recommend the Dulche De Leche Napoleon. It's fluffy, caramel-ly and everything nice. The fruit tart was nice and very fresh too!! The wait for the food flew by and the wait in line was perfect timing considering we needed to decide which of all the delicious dishes to order. I will be returning to Porto's soon and only wish they were located everywhere in California.

Porto's is awesome! Well priced and does not disappoint. I have tried multiple things on the menu and have never eaten anything I've disliked. The other thing I love about Porto's is their customer service. All of the employees are kind and helpful. They will even go out of their way to answer your questions and help assist you in seating. That's the extra mile for me and will make me continue to return here for great brunches and sweet snacks.

Normally, I enjoy Porto's pastries as a treat when I'm in the area. However, this review is about my experience today and problems I encountered. When I arrived at 6:30am, there were plenty of parking spots, so it was quick and easy to get inside. The line for the bakery side was relatively short, and since in the past there were always multiple workers helping out and processing orders quickly, I thought that I would be in and out, in no time. Unfortunately, this was not the case. There were only 2 workers taking orders, despite the fact that several other workers were occupied with (what seemed to be) less important tasks, such as arranging more cakes in the display case, than attending to waiting customers. Some staff seemed to lack a sense of urgency and made little effort to move at a faster, weekday morning rush, pace. I have visited this location before and seen at least 6 different workers very efficiently taking orders and moving through the line quickly, so I was disappointed that the same effort was not being put forth today. After all, since it was a weekday before 7am, I'm sure I wasn't the only customer in line that had someplace to be, such as work or a meeting. Second, I was frustrated because there were 2 customers at the very front of the line who were taking quite a long time to customize several boxes of orders. This would have been fine, except for the fact that there were only 2 workers available, which caused a complete hold up in the line. I understand that people like to carefully select each pastry in their box, but I can think of plenty of ways to expedite the order process. Perhaps an electronic checkout where you can select all the pastries on a screen at the front, or even a paper slip where you fill out what you want and hand it to the counter... One of the gentlemen in front of me did exactly this- wrote out his order on a post it note- and I thought it was a perfect idea. Porto's has great food and bakery goods, but I hope that it can expedite its ordering system for future customers stopping by during the morning rush hour.

The BEST!!! As a Cubana, I can't imagine not having Portos in my life. Everything is delicious there, but I can't leave without a medianoche, a Malta and a few refugiados! If you haven't been there, you owe it to yourself to go!!

UPDATE: Ok, I admit it, I was wrong in my first review. I now like this place because of two things: The pulled pork dinner plate and Horchata shake! Those are like my favorite things lately. I love the rice, plantains, etc. SO GOOD! And the Horchata shake...is so addicting. Every time I'm in the area, I gotta stop by to get those two things. Overall: A- Came here on 8/10/13 and had lunch. My gf and I loved the potato balls, delicious! I had the Dinner Plate with the Cuban shredded beef. It was good, but nothing special. My gf had the pastrami sandwich. Buy was she disappointed. It was ALL FATTY PARTS. I told her to send it back but she didn't feel right doing so. Overall: C+

My go to place in the valley for visiting relatives and friends. It's always busy, which is the sign of a great restaurant. You have to wait in line to order, but it moves fast. I love their plaintains stuffed with black beans, meat pies, & deep fried mashed potatoe balls stuffed with meat. Let's not forget their vast assortment of delectable desserts. A must visit place.

The worse ,...why Did people come to this place again.? Pricy , big line for no reason , cuban pastries ?really ? Cuban sandwiches really ? No parking !! And rude employees .I am sure is because of Managers and Owner . ( employees show the way they are treaded) .

I mean like...who couldn't love this place? Portos is just the BEST. I come in so much it feels like walking HOME. ahhaha just kidding...maybe. But fo reals, delicious, delectable pastries that are real cheap? How can you not like that?! The cheese rolls are infamous and I love the guava cheese roll and of course the chocolate croissant...and their oreo smoothie...and their chai lattes..and their coffee...okay I basically like everything. This place gets real crowded and that may drive people away, but Porto's was build for crowds and the staff handles the long lines with speed and great service! Their sandwiches are great too, I usually get the steak torta or the veggie sandwich. I just love Porto's...what can I say. Keep it classy P-town. I will love you till the end of time.

This place is a must when visiting the LA area. The prices are very reasonable and the food is great. The Cuban is deliciousness with the side of plantain chips. The bakery goods are mouthwatering and so worth the long lines you wait in. We have been to two different locations and both were equally as delicious. Try the guava pastries or just cheese. - taste better than the bakeries in Miami!

This past weekend I came to Porto's for the first time! I had always noticed how busy it is when driving by and I've tried the infamous potato balls a couple times at catered events. I now completely understand why this place is packed. Delicious and AMAZING prices. I didn't believe the prices at first. There is a small parking lot behind the restaurant but there's also lots of street parking. It's always busy and crowded in here so don't expect a quiet surrounding. You are directed into a line that leads you to the display full of an array of different pastries and cakes. There's also a menu on the wall behind the counter with menu items like coffee/tea, sandwiches, salads, etc. Once you get to the front of the line, you order at the counter and they give you a number (if you're eating there). From there, you find your own seating and there's a decent amount of seating options. I ordered the Grilled Chicken sandwich on a wheat round and an iced chai tea latte. My boyfriend ordered the Cubano. We also decided to order a couple pastry and dessert items, a couple potato balls (obviously), a small chorizo pie, a small fruit tart and a dulce de leche mini bundt cake. Potato balls were incredible and only $0.89 each. The chorizo pie was a little doughy for our tastes. We both loved our sandwiches which were served with plantain chips. The sandwiches were $7, which is a total deal. We ate the desserts later in the day since we were so stuffed. Unfortunately the desserts were less impressive than the lunch we ate. The bundt cake was a little dry and the fruit tart was okay, I've had better. Next time, we're going to try a slice of the carrot cake and a creme brulee! Will definitely be coming back here and bringing family here when they visit! Great food and equally great prices!

  • Katheline S.

i have been here numerous times, and i am still in love. i have tried almost every pastry they have to offer but the cheese rolls and chicken croquettes are my absolute favorite. however, i just went here recently and finally tried the ham croquette. the ham croquette has more meat than the chicken croquette and may actually be better. in addition i tried the pineapple and cheese danish and the strawberry and cheese croissant for the first time. while both are good, the pineapple and cheese danish is absolutely divine. the smoothies and sandwiches are all really good as well. i am also not a huge fan of cake, but i love every cake flavor portos has to offer, especially milk n berries. overall, try every pastry. it's worth it.

  • Jonathan J.

I've eaten everything here that I can (so no pork and no beef) and everything is fantastic. I get the torta de pollo, chicken sandwich or chicken milanesa 2-3x a week and I'll happily keep coming back as long as they let me. And a $.79 cheese roll is always a fantastic snack, chocolate croissants are also incredible... I mean it's really all great. And the price is killer - it's priced like fast food but all fresh, delicious and relatively (relatively!) healthy. The only "knock" is that they are often so busy and have so many people waiting for tables that there just isn't time to clean up tables and chairs (and floors) in time for the next available party. They have an army of very efficient, very polite staff working all the time (I counted 30 people working last time I was in), and there's a whole squadron of workers with brooms and wash cloths - I don't have an answer for how to make everything a touch cleaner (it has more to do with customers' lack of patience than Porto's lack of attention to this matter), but I have made that observation in the past. But all of that said, I can't recommend them enough!! TIPS: - Drinks Only Line: if you just want an iced coffee and don't want to wait the 20 minutes during the lunch rush, there is a special line to the left of the barista stand where you can skip ahead of everyone ordering sandwiches and potato balls. - Catering: I am having them provide the food for a party and it's going to be incredible. Regarding price, for reference, their large salad feeds up to 32 for $30, Tender Greens feeds 10 for $55. Crazy! - Wedding Cakes: Portos in Glendale did our wedding cake - it was 1/2 the price of anything close and utterly gorgeous, great tasting, and a super easy ordering process.

Anytime I'm down in the LA area, I always make sure to make a stop here at portos. This is my 3rd time at this location. There is a free parking lot next to it which is very convenient, although it's a tight squeeze in some areas. Angelica helped me out and was patient since I was making a big order and let me tell you...she was good!! By chit chatting with her, I found out she opened, and was coming off the end of her shift and STILL as cheery and bubbly as if her day just started. Things that I've tried Cheese rolls- a must! Just get it! Potato balls - the first time I tried this, I didn't know what to expect! I was pleasantly surprised since it was Meat pie - i love the pastry/meat combo. The pastry has a slight sweet side that gives a good balance to the meat. There were some pieces that didn't have much meat, but considering the price- it's ok in my book. Croissant sandwich- I grabbed this since i wanted a quick bite. $4.95 and a decent size. I had to pick it up at the other side, but to my surprise I didn't have to wait too long for it. Tasted good but wouldn't say it had a WOW factor. Overall- Portos scores a 5 in my book. Tons of choices, good prices, quick service, and tastes great!

I used to live three doors down from this fabulous famous Cuban hang. I have been always impressed, not only with their fresh food and beautiful bakery, but the way they maneuver millions of people on annual basis is efficient and astounding. Especially during the holidays! Whenever I want to take a family visitor or friend for the first time, they are impressed with the amazing and delicious food. I have a relative who I seriously think comes to visit me only because of the potato balls at Portos. Whenever I go there I taunt him by taking a photograph, to let him know that I'm there. Still think I should freeze the potato balls and send them back to Iowa - but then I might miss his visits. My only complaint, due to the high ceilings, is that it's sometimes hard to hear with somewhat loud noise. The tables outside on the sidewalk is a lovely way to eat and people watch. Whatever I go to a dinner party, I always take a Portos cake or pie or fresh fruit tart. Everyone is impressed by the beauty and freshness. I am impressed by the price.

We had a cheesecake birthday cake this weekend from Porto's and it was delicious! The cheesecake was creamy and dense but light and sweet at the same time. I did not feel like it was overly sweet and there wasn't that heavy thick after taste. I love cheesecake and would definitely get this again!

I live so far from this spot and drove a great instance just for the poblanos. The menu has a plethora of great options but I will list some of my go to favorites. I LOVE the Cuban sandwich that is to die for!!! The potato balls are like deep fried mashed potatoes with a savory meat center. The creme brûlée is almost as good as Nordstrom cafe! This place is always busy and has long lines, but is well worth the wait. Explore the menu and have fun with it, you can almost never go wrong!

Love, love, love this place. Everything in here is amazing from the food itself to the customer service. I have gone 3x in the last month for birthday cakes and every time it has been a great experience. You must try the cheese rolls and the tres de leche cake, they are to die for!!! The mango cheesecake is also very good. Their prices are also great for the quality you get. 5 Stars keep it up Portos.

Line was insane, and the isn't a lot of seating, but the food is really fresh and they have an insanely wide variety. So many pastries, y'all. My blueberry muffin was soft and fresh, and my turkey croissant sandwich was really tasty! Also highly recommend the smoothies, the mango one was so sweet! Worth it if you're patient and don't mind crowds.

Long lines but worth the wait. The chocolate cake is fantastic and I can't get enough! Their lunches are good too. Soup and salad deal is good if you want to stay healthy. Everything else is pretty tasty because of the fat content. The potato balls are the best!

  • Andre N.

Damn do believe the hype. I'm not even a fan of pastries but this place kills it. I got a ham and cheese croissant and a cheese roll and some dulce de leche stuff and tried one of them potato balls. The potato balls are great. The croissant and rolls are amazing. They really do it right here. Plus, it's stupid cheap. What's not to love. The place gets really crowded too. People absolutely love this place. It's amazing. When you dine in and order a sandwich I was looking at everyone's plates and saw that they give you banana chips instead of regular chips. Pretty dope. Not that good unless fairly salted but still pretty good. Overall I was a hater before now I'm a believer.

This place is always busy everyday of the week! It's hard to see why not though especially when all the pasteries are scrumptious! I always have to get my hands on some Porto's before I leave back to Vegas. Staff was great and except long lines and tons of people! Oh! And parking sucks but I think that's practically every place you go to in Cali lol

This location is HUGE! Usually, my brother and sister would bring back goodies from Portos, so this was my first experience here! They had so many different baked goodies. I got the ever so "popular" cheese rolls, guava/cheese rolls, and potato balls. Their iced cappuccino was SUPER strong and kept me up for over 8 hours! Would love to return when I head back to Socal :)

I love this place! PROS: + Interior = gorgeous, nice white walls and ceilings with modern lights (semi-chandelier but without the jewels) + Great selection of menu items + Long lines that move swiftly and efficiently + FREE PARKING if you know where (2 hours max on certain days/areas) CONS: - Parking is a pain in the ass - Too many people but I guess that means this place is doing something right :)

Cuban authentic food and pastries. Always fresh and never will disappoint. If picking up call ahead or plan on waiting as there are always a line. Most favorite is the Guava Strudel next to the potato ball and one of their many tasty cakes. Eat in or take out it will taste the same.
