Diabetics at Whataburger

Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. Almost every burger is rich in sodium content and it is highly recommended to keep your burger cravings in control while dining at Whataburger. However, you can always satisfy your cravings for a burger by choosing Whataburger Jr. or other non-burger items from the menu.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for Diabetics:

A diabetic should resist from ordering any extra meat-based burger such as Double Meat Whataburger or Triple Meat Whataburger to limit the sodium intake and calories. Most burgers except the Whataburger Jr. are high in sodium and hence should be avoided.

High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. You should also avoid Avocado Bacon Burger and Monterey Melt as both these burgers contain a high amount of fat. Sweat & Spicy Bacon Burger will add extra 1080 calories in your diet so skip that as well. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Lastly, avoid French Fries and Onion Rings at Whataburger if you are already ordering a burger or any other heavy meal.

Everything my family has had here over the years is great. Big food made fresh at a decent price.

  • D G.

The burgers were fresh and tasty! We had 3 indecisive children with us and they were very patient and kind. We will stop again next time when we're driving through town.

  • M R.

I have been eating here for years. Family owned and everything is GREAT! Never had anything bad here. Burgers are all fresh made and tacos are over the top overstuffed and tasty. I have had many different things here including most of their burritos. Try the deep fried mushrooms.....oh my! All good. Don't expect MickyD's priced food here, you'll pay but worth every penny. We always plan our trips north with a stop here and a nice outside patio to eat in when weather is good....and when cold they also have an in door patio. Stop here you will not be disappointed.....my highest recommendation!

This place is little an cute with great burgers! If your passing through Bridgeport it's a must stop!

We really look forward to stopping here whenever we pass though Bridgeport several times a year. Way more than burgers--great Mexican food but with many extra touches. Way better than most Mexican restaurants. Great vegetarian options

Woo-hoo is right! It's rare that you see such an overwhelming number of positive reviews on a Yelp restaurant site. But the Burger Barn fills the bill & then some. You must try it for yourself! Like one of the other reviewers here said, it's a place right out of the past. We were homeward bound after a cross-country trip & we were mighty tired of seeing the endless Subways, KFC, et al. Long live the Burger Barn!!

    (5)
  • Michelle P.

Dwarfed by its neighbor Jolly Cone (perhaps due to higher prices), Burger Barn serves up slightly higher quality burgers, sandwiches, and Mexican fare. Jolly Cone: American cheese; Burger Barn: Alpine Lace swiss. You get the idea. You'll also find turkey and garden burgers for the beef averse. My recommendation: Burger Barn for the main course and Jolly Cone for dessert.

So I think because the restaurant options are so severely limited in this town, a place like this, with decent food and nothing else, can garner such high reviews. OK, so let's start with the positives, the food, it's good, pretty darn good actually, can't deny that, but at the $10+ mark for a meal, it's nothing but on-par with every greasy spoon you've ever eaten at. You know the type, big crunchy fried things, sloppy burgers, and hodgepodge Mexican, the standard for all unhealthy eating establishments in California. Except this place has the gal to charge for things like water, to-go containers, extra ranch, side of salsa etc ... there's an entire menu of things this restaurant charges for that normal (big city) restaurants provide for free! Anyways, if the up charges here don't offend you then the bathroom sure will. It's disgusting! Like an outdated rest stop that hasn't been cleaned in 100 years. Totally lacking toilet paper, paper towels, and hand soap. Horrible. Try to hold out until Bishop.

I feel bad giving a negative review but after using Yelp to find places to eat our entire trip, it didn't feel like justice to not share when there are so many great reviews. The amount of great reviews honestly confuses me because besides a half decent burrito, our food was barely above subpar. It only gets 2 stars based on the burrito and it was nothing compared to what I'm used to in Southern California but I guess you can't be too picky. The burger was honestly a frozen patty reheated and the chicken sandwich was two chicken strips in a bun. It felt like the kind of place that you would stop by if you could not stand another second without food while on the road but if you have any patience I say drive past this place and look for the next one down the road. It wasn't worth the money. Also don't get me STARTED on the bathroom if you can even call it that. There was no supplies at all and it looked like a bathroom in an abandoned ghost town. They had a box outside asking for donations for supplies for the bathroom which confused me since it is a place of business and didn't seem to be hurting on the amount of customers stopping by. Worst part about this place.

I love this place and the horchata! The food is awesome! My boyfriend and I always stop by when we're driving through from the 108 to mammoth lakes and back.

  • Tony K.

Been here many times before over the years when passing through. They didn't let us down today either, I got a Specialty Double Cheeseburger and Wifey got a Regular Cheeseburger. Mine was Huge ! It really hit the spot, soft buns really start a Cheeseburger off right and these were. Order of Fries just the right size and filling ! Prompt friendly service is always nice ! We'll be back !

I had a double western bacon burger. It was massive and pretty decent. Definitely the best burger I had on 395. And by the way, get the raspberry milkshake...amazing.

Yummy mushroom Swiss burger. Cute outdoor burger place, very local. Fast service and really tasty food. I can see why it's highly rated.

Visited over the busy holiday weekend and loved the Baja taco and hot pastrami. The taco was recommended by fellow campers in the area and it did not disappoint with two large pieces of fish and fresh cabbage, tomatoes, cilantro. The sauce that came on it was good, however I would have liked a little bit more of it. Pastrami was plentiful and flavorful. Good stop for lunch.

  • T M.

What can I say? This place was so awesome we came here two days in a row. Burgers on point.... I got Ortega burger and a big taco and Jon got a double blue cheese bacon burger and fries. WAY TO MUCH food. Next day an Ortega burger again and a single blue cheese burger .... Still awesome. Oh and Texas toothpicks very good with ranch and chipotle mayo.

    (5)
  • David C.

Large portions, eclectic food; some average other was above average. Polite service. The malt was not malt-y and the texas toothpicks were not spicy. Overall, it was good.

  • Merritt T.

possibly one of the best burgers I've ever tasted. And for Bridgeport, they are very reasonably priced... esp. when a jug of water at the gas station is $8 I would recommend this place to anyone!!!

  • Misti H.

We eat here once every couple weeks and they make a great burger. Two thumbs up from us. I do wish they had a couple high chairs for the kids.

  • Mike S.

I am a burger fan and I was disappointed in this dry, overcooked burger that even the sauce couldn't liven up. Worse: We waited a half hour (not kidding) at 2:00 on a week day afternoon. My son's bacon/BBQ/burger was better than the cheeseburger, but nothing to write home to ma about. These guys get the CS Award for 2014. After spending $15.00 on mediocre food they freakin' charged us for a cup of water. Next time I try the other guys or mosey on down the road a few miles. -

Traveling through Bridgeport, we were all starving. Stopped at the first place we came to. Wow!!!! I was completely blown away by the variety of their menu. The food was absolutely amazing!!!! We will be making this a permanent stop on our travel route.

What a gem of a find. The Pastrami burger was inventive and Bison burgers were perfect. I also had the sweet potato fries which was served with chipotle mayo which was the perfect accompaniment. Everyone was helpful and they accepted all of our special orders.

Stopped for lunch after remember how good their fish taco was over 10 years ago when we drove through last. It was as good as I remembered it - and only order one, they are big! Also had zucchini sticks, very good. Nice outdoor seating area with plenty of shade, although while we were there it was 100+ degrees! Will visit again when coming through town. Friendly staff.

Stopped there for lunch after a motorcycle ride across rte 4. I had the 1/2 lb cheeseburger and Cajun fries. Food was good. Burger was messy just like it should be. Cajun fries were great, didn't need catsup

Good burgers with all the trimmings. Prompt service. Blueberry shake was terrific but not legal for me!

  • Brandi R.

Really great taco salad with chicken! The nachos were good, but the cops were kind of greasy. The burrito was jumbo size with a little too much salsa. Otherwise great place. You have the choice to eat outside or they have an indoor area you can sit also.

    (4)
  • Katrina K.

I love this place! The only item I didn't like was the taco salad with shredded beef, only because there was way too much meat in it for me. I've had many other things and they were all great. The burgers are the best in town! Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Nice outdoor seating.

    (5)
  • Christina P.

Love this place. Every time I am camping in the area I stop by at least once or twice. Everyone is very friendly. Good is great. I've never been disappointed. The nachos are my favorite. A bit expensive, but everything in the surrounding area is too.

Fast but delicious food. I love the fish tacos (they're huge) and the breakfast egg/ham croissant. This is an easy stop directly off HWY 395. It's a basic stand that offers food of great quality for a reasonable price. Their selection includes, burgers, some mexican items, breakfast stuff, shakes, etc. - something for everybody.

Great Burgers and fries !! Used to have good ice(crushed) not now ice cream is better at jolly kone couple doors down the street ..Lots of food at the Barn!! Portions are BIG!!! we are in Bridgeport alot we always stop in for something to eat!!

  • Nancy J.

Slowest service ever. The girl at the counter needs to learn short hand and the tourists need to have their damn wallets out. Stood outside in the long hot line so long i got heat stroke and had to sit down halfway through signing my receipt. The indoor dining area was hotter than sitting outside. We were lucky to get one of the 3 tables in the shade. As expected 3 stars is what i expect when i walk up to an outdoor burger shack but really they could do better if they step up their game a bit. Now that we have received our huge order of food they just gained a star. The BBQ western burger looked good from across the table but the crispy chicken wrap was fabu. The french fries were fresh cut nut the $5.00 bag was just too much food. This is worth the stop.

  • Jon B.

What a huge disappointment. The burgers had a strange taste (maybe freezer burned). The onion rings were ok. My partners hamburger had the same issue but he had fries. For the price I expected so much better

The food here is always freshly made and delicious. We eat here every year we come to camp at Mono Village. The wait is long but so worth it!! The burgers are awesome, the burritos, everything!!!! The workers are friendly. You need to stop and eat here. You will not regret it!!

What to do when my usual places to stop when driving on Hwy 395 are closed for the season after Columbus Day weekend? Not to name names, but my Lee Vining burger place and my town-just-south-of-Coleville burger place were both closed when I was driving northbound. I munched a handful of snack foods to keep me going. When I finally reached Bridgeport, I was glad to see that the Burger Barn was still open! I note their large menu, and I try to order the turkey burger. (But alas, they were out of turkey.) So, I opted for the regular burger and a small order of fries. While waiting for my food, I used the restroom (located in the brown building next door) to wash my hands. There is shaded seating in this brown building. There is also some shaded patio seating in front of the Barn. Before too long, the food was ready! I was pleased to see that they served it in a retro cardboard tray (plus!), not one of those styrofoam clamshell thingies. I noted the large number of condiments at the window: bvarious hot sauces, mustards, and...little yellow chili peppers! (Yum!) I was so hungry that I devoured the burger in short order. I did notice that it was a notch better than your average burger. I am inclined to stop here, again, when I am in the area.

Amazing shredded beef taco salad! Fresh and so yummy...lots of delicious shredded beef and lettuce, tomatoes cheese and cilantro! The guac dressing was divine, too. Came through on our way to summit Mt Whitney and had the best burger! We DID summit and had to stop again on our return trip. You won't be disappointed! Also, Cheryl is so friendly and eager to help!

We were not very hungry and we just wanted to grab some quick brunch. I got a taco and my partner got a burrito. The food was made to order and very fresh and delicious. Will definitely visit again and recommend for anyone passing by looking for a quick, delicious bite of food for a very reasonable price.

Circumstance brought us to Burger Barn. When traveling the 395, we usually stop in Lee Vining, but this trip we had our dog with us, and it turns out that no place in Lee Vining allows you to have your dog anywhere near their establishment. In fact, if you are traveling with a dog, you better just drive right on through Lee Vining, the NO DOGS town. So by the time we got to Bridgeport I was hungry and desperate. Husband spotted the Burger Barn and ran in to ask if we could have a dog on the patio, and not only did they tell us dogs were more than welcome, they provided him with water, too. So we were already feeling very grateful and happy at the Burger Barn, which may have colored our perceptions, but I swear, the food here is SO GOOD! The menu is huge, but Husband quickly decided on the Ortega Chicken Sandwich (he has a thing for ortega chiles) and I finally chose a wet burrito, since I was HONGRY, although we need not have worried because the portions were HUGE and delicious! Add to that giant ice cold drinks, and we were happy to take a nice long break at the Burger Barn, while our pooch relaxed in the shade of our table. It was a blazing hot day when we ate there, but the patio was packed full of happy customers, kicking back in the shade and enjoying their food. On a stretch of highway with so many great places to eat, I have to add yet another option...Burger Barn will definitely be our place to stop when we have our hound. Even without a dog, though, this roadside shack is worth the stop.

Delicious, juicy burgers in an old-fashioned drive-in setting. Yummy fries! Took off a star because the bathrooms were across a parking lot and VERY OLD/run-down.

4 stars for service and menu items with vegetarian options. ? Stars for taste We arrived 30 mins before closing and hungry, might I add. The cook already closed the kitchen and we were walking back to our truck when they called us over. Our $30+ worth order was taken and more people came. The nice man taking our order wasn't happy but he was polite and took everyone in. They have a variety of items on their menu, Mexican and American food, all reasonably priced. Thank you Burger Barn for feeding my hungry family when your staff could have been on their way home to their family. Much appreciated.

We cruised through Bridgeport after a tour of the ghost town Bodie. We stopped here for dinner. Everything we ate was excellent. This included The guacamole bacon cheeseburger, onion rings, french fries, and a taco salad. The french fries were similar to in and out burgers, but thinner and much tastier. The onion rings were to die for. I wish I didn't live 200 miles from this place...

On our way from a camping trip from Tahoe to Yosemite. Just pulled over to grab a bite and expectations were low. Best western bacon cheeseburger ever. Nachos were incredible and so was the California burrito. A really unexpected surprise. Staff was great too. Everything tasted fresh. Great place to stop and grab a bite.

The kinda burgers you want on a roadtrip! In smaller towns I usually drive around & see where the locals are gathering & this place was busy. Plenty of parking, seating outside & employees that greeted every local like they grew up together, which they probably did considering how small the town is. I admit, I was jealous. We were there to checkout Bodie, the gem of ghost towns, for the wknd. Like a good tourist I asked the cashier for some help & she told me where to gas up, get some snacks etc. As for our food: burgers, chicken tenders & fries were what we expected. They have a lot on their menu but my boys are picky so they stuck to what they know they like. Seeing the plates of other customers I was like daaaayem, that's a lot of food. On our way out of town we hit this place up one more time & didn't eat again until after we arrived back home couple hundred miles away. Next time we visit Bodie, maybe they'll greet me like they do the locals.

I got sick last night (vomiting) I bought the turkey burger and onion rings, cost $14. About 6 hours later I was getting sick. That's an expensive kick in the gut!

This place honestly wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it was a full fledged restaurant, but instead, it's a quaint little shack. The guy working the counter was friendly enough, and patiently waited for us while we decided what we wanted. I had the fish taco, with an order of fried zucchini sticks. The taco was absolutely bursting at the seams with lettuce, onion, tomato, and cheese, with fried cod at the bottom. It was a little messy but very worth it. The batter on the zucchini sticks tasted a lot like the batter on the cod, but they weren't too bad. Overall a decent place- especially considering how expensive everywhere else was.

What a gem! Hit this place on the way home from vacation and was pleasantly surprised at the huge menu and high quality of the food! Good outdoor seating, fun location, and a bunch of yummy options from burgers to burritos, fries to dipped soft-serve cones. Maybe a little more money than similar places, but I didn't feel cheated. It would be nice if they could update their little bathroom, but considering the type of establishment this is, I'm just glad they had one at all!

I had to make this place my first Yelp review. I had the fish taco. By far, the best taco of it's kind I've ever had. Fresh fish on the biggest corn tortilla I've ever had. everything on it was very fresh in taste and texture. Fantastic!! My wife had the Bacon and bleu cheese Burger. Equally impressive. Plenty big with flavor to match, but not overbearing. Finish it off with the creme filled churro, and you're good to go. Great and friendly service to. Can't wait to go back. Worth the six hour drive.

Roadside burger joints can be hit and miss. You may survive the road, but will you survive the burger? I went face down in the bison 1/3 lb and quickly de-virginized my tastebuds to what is Buffalo meat. Ahhh..that first hungry bite, dripping with meaty lust and gluttony. I rolled back my eyes into my head, as one should when a burger is 'just right'. Bridgeport is a small Mayberry town peppered with burger joints up all up and down the main drag. Why? Could be that it's nestled in between a vast expense of local beef ranches and scenic Sierra Mtn ranges. Which means you're gonna get a good burger...a REALLY good burger. One that didn't travel 500+ miles in a frozen Sysco truck to get to you. But why should you choose Burger Barn over the other great burger joints in the area? They have Mexican Food! GOOD mexican food. I'm from San Diego so...The generally accepted code of eating no mexican food north of Sant Barbara (esp. at a burger joint) is now shattered thanks to The Barn. Get the steak tacos, the carne nachos, or the super chicken burrito. Then take a nap and dream of coming back to Mayberry. I'll be back to rope down the rest of the menu next time I return, Burger Barn. Small town eats winner of the year so far.

Good food and impressive menu. I wish I could have tried more! We did try the Elk burger (honestly if I hadn't known I would have just thought it was beef) but, still very good! They are messy so don't' try what we did and eat on the road, do yourself a favor and eat it there, or stop somewhere, other wise you will ruin your cloths! We also tried the texas toothpicks and fried zucchini, both delicious. Their lemonade is homemade I think because it's very lemony, barely sweet. I guess that's good for some, maybe not for others. I have to commend the fact they offer horchata, but I didn't like it very much. If I didn't know better I would have thought it had goats milk in it (traditionally it's made with rice milk). There was some strange flavor in it that I did not care for. But all in all very good! I'll be back to try some of the Mexican menu!

Finally getting the chance to review. We were staying near Bridgeport mid-September for our annual Eastern Sierra vacation. We were heading out for a day of off-road adventuring in the Sweetwater Range and decided to stop by for an early lunch. It was a late weekday morning around 10 or 11 am, and it wasn't crowded. The menu is an interesting mix of Mexican and American food, something for everyone. They also have a breakfast menu separate from the menu above the order counter. I had a meatless burrito (huge and tasty) and the husbs tried a Oaxacan Taco (I pushed him to try it after reading the rave reviews here). We were both super happy with our food. We were both so pleased, in fact, that we decided to stop by on our way back for dinner around five pm! This time he had a burger and we shared some nachos and texas toothpicks (we loved everything). We also splurged and ordered milkshakes to take back to the cabin. I had the blackberry and he had raspberry...and they were truly awesome, made with actual fruit and not just a flavor syrup. The service was super friendly and we enjoyed dining on their outdoor patio and checking out the mural of the local area. This is definitely going to be a new routine stop on our annual trip.

Stopped here for breakfast on the way from Bridgeport to Yosemite NP for a hike. Had the veggie burrito with french fries inside it - yummm!! I never knew having french fries inside the burrito makes it soo much more delicious! We also had a salted caramel shake - that was very good too, but a bit too much for us. Will definitely stop by here next time I'm in that area. Highly recommended.

We stopped at The Burger Barn after a long day of travel, and we were craving Mexican food. We each had a burrito, and it was no only a huge burrito, but both were so delicious that we have come to trust these little drive up and walk up to the window type of restaurants. We loved it and would go back if in area again! They had such a large variety on menu too.

Great food, large portions, and very friendly staff. I had the fish taco, Texas tooth picks, fried mushrooms, and sweet potato fries. Definitely would eat here again very good food.

Usually when I am on the road, I resign myself to eating food smothered in mediocrity. I was recommended this place by a relative who had stopped by a week or so earlier. She raved about the pulled pork sandwich, but I was not particularly impressed by her description. On my way home to L.A. from Northern Nevada, me and my fellow travelers decided to stop and see this place for ourselves. Holy crap! My mouth still waters when I think about the veggie burrito I had. One of us had a bacon burger, while the other had a chili burger. I was not in the mood for meat on this day, so I asked the man at the window how good the veggie burrito was. He said, "you'll love it!" And I most certainly did. All of the ingredients were fresh, the salsa was spicy but not too hot, and there was just the right amount of cheese. I can't remember ever having a burrito from a stand I liked so much. My fellow travelers and I didn't say much while we were eating, except for how good it was. And most of the time, we all just sort of grunted and made sounds of hungry men eating excellent food. I decided to compliment the guy who took our order, the owner. He yelled over to his wife to come out, and we all told her how delicious it was. She practically melted. She was so happy we loved her cooking, even more happy than we were with our meal, so that is some extreme happiness!! I really want to go back. Their food rules, and they are super friendly and humble on top of it all. I recommend this place to everyone that likes burgers and burritos. You'll be lucky if you find anything so decent on Highway 395. Sometimes, I dream of moving there, just so I can have it all the time!

A friend and I got a BBQ bacon cheeseburger and we both agreed that it was one of the best burgers we've ever had. Great service too. Very cool place!

I love this place. Whenever I'm driving the 395, I look forward to stopping at The Barn. My wife swears by the cheeseburger. I always get a Baja fish burrito. It's not on the menu, but they've always been happy to make it. Excellent! Bridgeport offers one of the most beautiful vistas in the Eastern Sierra, and the outdoor patio at The Barn is the perfect place.to enjoy a great meal with a stellar view. It always exceeds expectations. And there is an indoor dining room next door, if the weather isn't perfect. The food and service are always excellent.

What a fantastic find! For a Walk Up Window ordering, never seen such a huge variety of food. We were just driving back to campground at topaz Lake from exploring Brodie! Bridgeport, you should be proud you have such a awesome place to grab a bite up eat. Excelled food!!!

I know there aren't many choices here in this little town but I'm shocked at all the good reviews. It was a frozen burger cooked in some kind of cinnamon nutmeg flavor. GROSS. It was terrible. Who puts cinnamon on a burger? My kids wouldn't even eat it. As much as I dislike McDonalds, I actually think it would have been better. This was just a dirty rundown shack that sells overpriced frozen burger with a terrible seasoning choice. I wouldn't eat heat again it they payed me. I usually trust Yelp reviews but this time I feel totally mislead. :( Have the people in this small town ever had good food to compare it to?

The fun map beside the outdoor tables is worth four stars alone. In fact, I have absolutely no shame about giving this place five stars despite the fact that I've had quite a few fewer-than-four-star experiences here. If you grew up in the late '70s and/or early '80s, you will instantly recognize the preciousness of this place. You wouldn't have recognized it then because there were so many places like it, but as time has moved on, it has become a relic. The ice cream is really good and sometimes disappointing. Its gets your hopes up so high that you begin to question which is poorer, your memory or your tastebuds. Memories can change over time, and I'm sure tastebuds can as well. But I'm not sure whether one's sense of taste actually becomes poorer as one ages. I'll have to think about that one.

Besides the tasty burgers, Texas toothpicks, and breakfast burritos, we were also impressed by the excellent service from the lady who took our order! We stopped by here two days in a row, and we will definitely come back again!

Stopped in for lunch with the yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. I had the Ortega burger, my husband the 1/2 # bacon burger. These burgers were huge and very good. I highly recommend this place

OMG!!! We were on our way home after 3 days touring around the area. We walked there from our hotel, & had the breakfast burritos. First, they were HUGE!!!! Second, they had so MUCH GOOD stuff inside, carnitas, fresh tomatoes that were as sweet as can be, eggs, cheese, avocados, it was way more then I could eat, & the hubs tried to down his, but it was way too much. If we were staying there, that would be the place we would go. You will never be sorry if you stop at this little place with GREAT GREAT food!

stopped in here on our way from Reno back home to Yosemite. After a night on the town we were both really craving a burger, and this filled that niche, but we really felt like we paid more than it was worth. the whole menu could be dropped by $2-4 an item and it would be much more reasonable. next time, we'll probably find something else.

Stopped in here today and had a polish dog and fries. It was OK, but nothing to get excited about. Their service is a little slow but not a problem if you're not in a hurry. I thought the food was a bit pricey for what you get even though the portions were larger than average. They do have a good selection to choose from though. The seating is outdoors only and the tables are a bit grungy. My biggest problem was with the birds. They are obviously used to getting food here and they are very aggressive. I had to continuously shoo them off to keep them away from my food. I'm not particularly fond of having birds jumping around on the table next to my lunch. If you don't want to fight off the wildlife while eating lunch you may want to look for another place to eat.

I've passed by this burger joint a dozen times on my way back and forth from Yosemite, but never had the time to stop. Finally, the timing was right, and I had time to stop for a burger, fries and drink. The burger was tasty (I had the BBQ Bacon Burger), the fries super crisp and hot and the Cherry Sprite was some kind of yummy custom concoction with cherry syrup mixed in. The service was quick and friendly. No complaints whatsoever. I will definitely be stopping here again.

After coming to Bridgeport for 20+ years, I finally tried The Barn.....after seeing a huge line at Hays Street, I decided on trying this place, wow a really good choice. They have a pretty good selection of Breakfast sando's, and Burritos. I had a burrito called " Ed's Special", I believe. It had Carnitas, scrambled egg, Fresh Avocado......a huge serving of really tasty, made in house Carnitas! It was around 9 am, about 40 degrees outside but nice and sunny.....sitting in the bright sun, with a big cup of coffee and this burrito, a nice start to my day........frankly, the burrito was one of the best I've had, anywhere! I'm looking forward to my next trip here, and I will certainly eat here regularly when I'm in town fishing. A lot of really tasty food, and bargain priced.......5 stars all the way!

Yummy! What a surprise on a lonely fall afternoon in the middle of seemingly nowhere. Fish taco was tasty, fries were tasty, BBQ bacon burger was tasty. Good price - good service - horrible location for someone from the Bay Area.... But it is almost worth the 5 hour drive.... The place to stop on the way through for sure!

seriously good burgers! tasty fries too, but i haven't tried any of the specialty fries or other items, the burgers are just too good to pass up. if you REALLY like avocado go for the guac burger, tons of guac on top and slices of avocado under the patty too.

What a great place to have a burger!! Come hungry! I had the Double Texas bacon cheese burger and fry's... Oh ya it was huge and very juicy. Loved it! If you are looking for a great lunch hut, you found it! Don't think about it just go to the window and order! You will not be disappointed!! What a great find.

It's hit or miss with this place. Some items are good, some are OK, and some...well...? I love the fact they offer tons of peperoncini at their condiments station. I love that stuff. Great with tacos. If you're in the area. It's one of the better places to go to. I got the Crispy Cod Sandwich this trip. I've been meaning to try it. It was better than I thought it would be.

Great little burger barn. I got burgers and a corn dog. Fresh Buns and veggies on the burgers. Fries were great. Fast service and friendly. What else do you want from a burger barn. I wish there was one near me. My kid ate the whole burger- first time ever.

OMG! Breakfast burritos here are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get the veggie breakfast burrito with the green sauce, you WILL NOT REGRET IT!!! It is the BEST!!!!!! I also had their nachos, which were okay. I tried someone's burger and that was pretty good. They are the masters of fried goodies. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE the breakfast burrito! Perfect ratios of egg, potato, veggie, sauce all wrapped up in savory breakfast delight!!!

Great Eats for Small Town Food! Usually you get to a small town and the food is terrible. Not the case here! The prices are reasonable and there is plenty of outdoor or indoor seating, and a huge menu. I ended up getting a corn dog with zucchini sticks but the burgers looked really good too. I will be back on my next trip to Bodie!

I have fondly thought of Burger Barn since our visit 8 years ago and I could not wait to come back! I ordered nachos both this visit and last and I loved them, although I would like for them to melt the cheese. My favorite touch is that the put olives on top...hey, it's the little things in life! :) My husband had the wet burrito especial and was a bit disappointed because he felt it lacked flavor. He is also not a fan of lettuce inside burritos, which is an ingredient they add. However, a few mornings later we came by for breakfast burritos and all was redeemed! They were full of delicious ingredients and flavor and we were quite impressed! And their salsa was homemade and delicious which only enhanced the wonderful burritos.

BBQ bacon cheeseburger is one of the best I've ever had. I told my sons about it before we got to Bridgeport so they were really looking forward to it. It wasn't too busy but it took a little while. It was worth the wait, though. I was a little taken aback by the prices. $35 for three of us, drinks and sharing fries. Oh well, I'm hardly ever in Bridgeport so I guess it is worth splurging here every once in a while.

    (4)
  • Mike A.

Sooo worth the wait, IMO! Not a pretentious gourmet burger place, just mom and pop (literally), whipping up basic burger stand (see the name?) fare. There were also some Mexican themed goodies that other customers were eating that they kept saying were really good, and they looked good, too. Anyway, great basic burgers dragged through a fresh garden, ice cold beer, if you don't mind a possible wait. Can't wait to go again!

Three words: Carne Asada Fries! Best I have had since SD, steak was very tender and the natural cut fries were perfect. Had the BBQ bacon burger which was also very good, especially after having such a lousy dinner the night before in Mammoth. Food took awhile but that was because a large group of 16 had just dropped a huge order...no biggie. Will definitely be coming back on the next fishing trip

Oh my! These burgers are quiet good! I typically can only stomach half of a burger when we go out, but I was actually trying to finish this thing! You know a place is good when you'll stretch your stomach out for just another delicious bite!

  • Samuel D.

When eating here, the first thing you will notice is that it might be outdoor eating only but in reality they have an indoor facility adjacent to the establishment. Also, if you want water bring a cup or Styrofoam cup will cost you a quarter. I tried the double cheeseburger and was delicious. FYI, all the burgers DO NOT come with fries so be prepared to order that extra. My nephew ordered the Bison burger. He seemed to enjoy it. I took a bite and it was OK for me. My sister inlaw ordered the burrito and her complaint was that there was TOO MUCH MEAT in the burrito. Who does that??? What a problem to have, huh! Eatery sits right next to Jolly Cone so don't miss it.

Wow, roadside indigestion. We needed a stop on the 395 trip from Reno to LA...and we chose incorrectly. Slow service at the window and back in the 'kitchen' made a quick stop into about an hour. Zero decent eating options. Sloppy food, sloppy bathroom (if you could call it that), and just all around nasty hole in the wall... - Sure the menu is large, but it's all worse than fast-food quality - Don't waste your time and money. Will be driving right by this little trap next time.

We were camping in the nearby mountains and made a trip down to visit the Ghost Town of Bodie. We decided to stop here and glad we did. As one reviewer noted this is literally a Mom and Pop place with him making the sales and drinks and her cooking up the food. Portions were good, food cooked properly, place clean, and they were friendly. When back in the spring we'll be sure to stop by here again. Thanks for preparing us an awesome lunch!
