Went in on a Saturday night at round 11ish, and my friends and I had a blast. When we first walked in we were a bit hesitant to stay because it was so crowded but one bartender who was a young lady with long black hair came up to us and welcomed us and asked what we wanted to drink before we even got to the bar. We sat down and a band started to play (we later found out they are the house band). The band was so darn good, they played Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling stones, they were really great and such a blast to watch. I was surprised that I never waited for a drink despite how packed the bar was because the bartender was walking by our table asking us if we were okay every 15 minutes or so. Restrooms were clean, drinks were reasonably priced, the regulars were really nice as well. I will definitely be back.

Live music, cute bartender, and awesome owner! It's very dive-bar ish feel with older crowd but it was still fun with my friends :] +Came in last Friday for a night of casual drinking. One drink turned to two and soon enough we were having 5th or 6th cocktail thanks to the cute bartender, Alli! She's smiles all around and encouraged us to kick back and drink more since it's Friday night. Alli was super sweet, attentive, and personal. Two thumbs up for her. +I think the main bartender is also the owner of First Cabin Bar? He is plain awesome. We caught him drinking while bartending and he seemed pretty buzzed. Love it! +Cheap drinks! I bought a round of drinks, which included 4 drinks and total was only $37. Wahhh I love it! +Live band plays on Friday I think? They happened to be there this past Friday at least. They take song requests if they know how to play the song. We requested Gun n Roses' - Sweet Child of Mine but unfortunately they didn't know. :/ But they played us some AC DC song and it was good! +Street parking available at the front of the bar. We'll definitely come back again for another night of drinking here.

Arcadia and Monrovia's best bar!! Okay, I have to change that to the "BEST BAR IN THE SAN GABRIEL VALLEY." :) I'm a local and I haven't stepped foot in any other bar in the area since I discovered First Cabin a couple of years ago. I'm always greeted with a warm welcome and smile. Owners and bartenders at the Cabin are genuine, kindhearted people that treat everyone like family. The bar is famed for the warmth of its welcome and I enjoy the atmosphere and low price of its drinks. There are always smiles on everyone's faces because the place is so much fun!

Great little bar. Locals and strangers from the hotels around town. The band that plays here Rocks to Jimi, ZzTop, Rolling Stones, The Blues, and I even heard an INXS song in the set. Laid back scene and if you've had enough drinks they'll even let you dance! So, if you dig the music set you'll enjoy having a brew or shot of tequila here for sure.

Nice bar, definitely one of the better ones in the area... It has a good atmosphere, good crowd, and generous bartenders who work a great selection. Ermm... just a heads up, don't go if you have a problem with second-hand smoke...

After driving five and a half hours from the bay area, Steph S. and I were so happy we stumbled upon First Cabin Bar. Why? 1. On Thanksgiving Day, (almost) nothing was open before 11am. This bar, however, already had a few people throwing back beers, cocktails, and shots. (Hey, it's 5pm somewhere in the world!) 2. It's located a few blocks away from Boiling Point. So for all you AZNs that are looking at an one hour wait before lunch or dinner, drop by to kill some time! 3. It is an older crowd, but everyone seems really chill. Ain't nobody got time for sleezes, creeps, or drama queens. It is a dive bar, by the way. 4. They have a couple of TVs, so it's a great place to catch a game. Thank you for being open so we could watch the morning Thanksgiving game! 5. Bartender (maybe the owner? I forgot his name. :( Boo.) was super chill. He even made tamales for everyone! 6. And last, but not least... $4 beers. That's right! Four. Dollar. Beers. Sure, they're in bottles... but $4! (Can you tell I'm still in shock and can't get over this fact?) There are no bars in LA, SF, or even ~non cool~ bars that offers $4 beers! First Cabin Bar is definitely one of the cooler dive bars I've been to! Cheers!

The First Cabin has been around for years and not much has changed. The owners keep the place clean and well maintained and the bathrooms are always clean (bonus points) Low prices on all drinks beers are $3-$5 when there is no band playing, the prices increase when a band is playing on Wed-Sat. night Mixed drinks are poured very strong, two drinks and I'm done. LOL It is a small narrow bar which gets loud and crowded on the weekends (standing room only).

Beer = cold. Red Hook IPA = $6. Too pricey for a dive. Opens at 6 a.m. ....really? Female server friendly on the tables she's waiting. Average age approx. 49-52 earth years. The priest's singer is loud One more thing I keep on enjoying the morning after "second hand cigarette smoke"

Cool lil dive bar. Nice people. Good, cheap drinks. Bonnie at the bar serving up good vibes and good libations!

Pleasant surprise. I've walked by here a hundred times and decided to drop in last night. Very small bar (they squeeze the band by the front door). By the way the band Priests of Love was great. Apparently the band has been playing there for 20+ years. Waitress was quick and attentive. Only saw one and one bartender which isn't a lot for a Saturday night. They managed surprisingly well because it was jammed. Get there before 9 if you want a seat. It was standing room only. There was an eclectic crowd. Fun to people watch. Everyone seemed friendly. Check it out...again a pleasant surprise!

  • Juan M.

I met up with a friend there for some drinks on a weds. Sick band. Staff seems friendly enough. Problem is that although the music is awesome the bar is small. The sound bounces off the walls and it makes conversation very difficult. What? What? Huh? Oh yeah? (I have no idea what I just agreed to, I might have to wear the puffy shirt) the other is that I ordered guiness. $6 for the can. So I figure it's import. I ordered a blue moon, $6 bottle. Ok maybe they have a special on coronas,$6! Wtf! I'm paying cash. That's a tip on every order. Those beers are costing me $7/$8 each time. That nearing Chavez ravine prices. I'd have the band do shorter sets and run a beer special on a WEDNESDAY! will I go back? Only because my friends like it there and the band is pretty kick ass. But I don't want to be a pirate!

Answer this question before continuing reading because I do not want to waste your precious time. Are you a smoker and a drinker? - If yes, continue reading If NOT a fan of smoking and drinking, SKIP THIS REVIEW Totally a hipster bar and lots of locals that comes here. Boyfriend and I decided to finally check out this place, once we walked in...already a negative. You can smoke indoors while drinking. So if you are a smoker and actually want to inhale smoke into your lungs while drinking with your buddies and such, I guess this is a place for you! As for me, on the other hand, disliked it. But hey, it's rare to find bars where you can smoke indoors right? Quite small bar. You can either park in the back or park on the side street. We ended up parking in the back, spaces are pretty tight, just FYI. There are TVs and a live band playing. Drinks were pretty strong. Not dive bar price. It was more of a regular bar place kind of price. We both got a Jack and coke, and it was about $7.50 each? After that drink, we bounced because we seriously could not take it with the smoke. So ding ding ding... if you are a smoker and a drinker? Here's the place to be for you If you are NOT a smoker and only a drinker, I apologize that I have wasted your time.

  • Daisy A.

Service was ok. Super tiny bar. People are smoking so you inhale thief second hand smoke throughout the whole night. Even the bartenders smoke! Cool vibe. Few seats. Great band! They were rocking the whole night and they sounded amazing. If I'm in the area I might come back but only for one drink. The smoke is just way too much!

  • Donald T.

I came here last Saturday and the band gave me a headache, I didn't mind the smoking but I did mind that there are no young people in here, everyone was around 45 years old and up, also it was a cock fest, but I guess that's how it is, I wont be coming back.

I have been going to First Cabin for about 8 years. Great place, friendly people. I love listening to Pat O' Brien and the Priests of Love. They always play great, I do not know why they are not more famous. Like everyone says, Bobby, the bartender, serves great drinks and is really fast. I walk in and my drink is on the bar before I can sit down. The cocktail waitress is just unbelievable, do not know her name. Incredible hour-glass figure. No food except for maybe the beef jerky, so go in full. Pat O'Brien starts playing at 9pm, the place is usually full by 10pm on a Friday or Saturday. As most people wrote, it is a kind of a dive bar. But, hey, it works. The bathrooms and glasses are clean, that is all I care about. They run a clean ship, even if it is a little old. The decor must be from 1959. In the back there is a horse racing hall of fame. Go eat pizza at Zelos and then pop over to First Cabin, that is what I do.

    (5)
  • Brent A.

I've met a lot of nice people in the First Cabin. In the day time, there's always guys looking over the racing form. The bartenders treat first timers well. I've never been there at night, so I can't comment on the music. It's a great place to start your day before heading to the track.

  • Rick H.

ok all you non smokers come on in and stop bitching as you can't smoke in here anymore

  • Jae S.

This place was a decent bar. The barman was attentive, spoke with everyone at the bar and took care of our drinks quickly. Its all that you can ask from a hole-in-the-wall kinda joint. And it was much cleaner than expected! The only real drawback was that they allow smoking inside. We finished our drinks and moved on.

    (3)
  • Jason S.

Bumping this one up to 5. My favorite bar through the Arcadia/Monrovia/Duarte corridor on a weeknight, hands down. Weeknights are sometimes dead, sometime medium busy. All ok and tolerable compared to the weekend rush. Cheap drinks if you stay away from the more intricate cocktails and a good heavy pour.

    (5)
  • Chad K.

Great bar. Bob and Anna are the best!

    (5)
  • David C.

Initially came here for a few drinks after getting bored of the more usual spots around the area. Drinks are dirty cheap, interior is extremeley divey and old fashioned. Has a nice warm feel to it. Its a plus that they allow smoking inside, but it can get overwhelming for nonsmokers in your group. It literally is a hole in the wall and is not well suited for big parties. Open at 6AM, but if you're drinking at the crack of dawn you may need to look into some alternatives for coping. Bartenders are nice and very experienced. Depending on your flavor, this place may or may not be for you. PROTIP: Try their beef jerky. Pretty bomb and flavorful when you have drunk munchies, but will cost you six dollars.

I was dragged out to first cabin bar on a saturday night. My friends older brother does not go out much but when he does, he likes to unwind here. We parked in the rear, next to the chase bank. Our group proceeded to enter the bar through the alleyway. I guess only "tourist" enter through the entrance on Huntington Dr. To each his own. Don't get it twisted, this is dive bar. The bar might be small but offers cheap drinks and good live music. If you get hungry, you can always snack on their signature beef jerky. I passed on the jerky on this occasion. The band is called Pat O'Brien and the priest of love. They play blues and classic rock. The bar also has a designated smoking area in the rear but the smoke penetrates throughout the bar. If you prefer not to smell like smoke at the end of the night, make sure to carry the febreeze in your car. To my surprise the mens restroom was very clean. The male bartender was good at serving up the stiff drinks and bottled beer. But the female bartender/barback was exceptional. She was taking drink orders, clearing tables, and holding conversation like nones business. I am glad I made it out to Arcadia. The crowd is a bit older but don't let that discourage you from having a drink here. If you love classic rock, you will love the first cabin bar.

Great place to grab a quick drink. Generous servings, free pizzas on Monday and plenty of TV's to watch sports. Smoking is permitted on the premises and live bands on certain evenings.

  • Hemang S.

As per request of a friend, I'm coming back to Yelp to do a review in 2011! I came here about a month ago and thought it was an awesome little dive bar. For some reason, this place opens at 6AM.. I hope some AAA activists stop by this place sometime soon, but otherwise, pretty cool place to visit. There's always local music and definitely brings back a "small town" feel...which is what Arcadia used to feel like. Drinks are decent priced, nothing too expensive or too cheap... I'd come here when the "trendier" bars are out of my price range/too impatient to wait.

  • Marissa G.

The best bar in the world! They open at 6AM. Perfect for when you've worked overnight. My brother and I stopped in. We had a Bombay gin & tonic plus a Captain & Coke. The tab? $7. COMBINED. The hot bartender said the total after my brother's drink order, so we assumed that it was the price of his drink alone. We were surprised to learn that the $7 was for both! We'll definitely be back! They sell cigarettes and snacks as well. We went to The Station right after and the same two drinks cost $15. Lame!

  • E W.

Came here after dinner next door at Hot and Sweet Chicken. Ehh this place was just a typical dive bar. The band was loud! They sounded good, but it was too loud for a small place like this. Place was clean though and the restroom was clean (women's). I wished they had more liquor and the bartender would be more tentative, but it was difficult to talk & hear from the loud band. Oh yeah and I guess people can smoke in here....

    (3)
  • Donna S.

I remember entering the bar. I don't remember leaving the bar. That means extra stars because I am told I had a blast. I am told that I had fun dancing all night to the band. I am told the drinks were strong. I am told that the people there were nice and friendly and I chatted them up. I am told I passed out in a car while my friend had to take a taxi home to get their spare car keys since the original set went missing at some point. I am told I said "I have no idea where those keys could be. I don't have them. Sheesh. Check the floor." The next morning I found a strange set of car keys in my pocket that weren't mine. Interesting.....

Best bar in the area without question. So happy to have found this gem. Went on a Thursday night - small interesting crowd. The house band Pat O'brien & The Priests of Love were AMAZING. Reminded me of a great blues bar in Chicago. The smoking inside part is pretty lame, but it somehow adds to the nostalgic feel and charm. Looking forward to many more nights here.

  • Tiki T.

Great bar in a town full of good bars. Smoking is allowed because the owner Bobby works there as a bartender. He used to be an exercise rider at Santa Anita and has many friends from the track that frequent the bar. Pat O'Brien has been playing there for 19 years straight and is truly a guitar slinging legend. Bobby pours a good strong drink at the right price. Call it for $4 until the band starts and $5 after the music is playing. There is no cover charge ever. Thursday is the unofficial locals night and the place is packed by 8:30.

  • Amy H.

This place is pretty dive-tastic. It's small and you can smoke inside, but the drinks are cheap, they have Red Stag, and beef jerky. In fact, I think they have a special which is 2 beers and beef jerky for $10. Amazing. Also there is photo hunt, in particular the erotic kind. Final note, they have surprisingly clean bathrooms. This place is a good time!

  • Daniel A.

Cool bar until the smokers start lighting up. Isn't it illegal to smoke indoors in CA? If you're a smoker, have at it. Will not be returning until this is resolved.

    (1)
  • Lisa H.

Good drinks at good prices, good service, nice people. If you're a smoker, you'll LOVE this bar. I'm not, and I would have skipped it if I'd have known. Kinda reminded me of Vegas. Other than the smoke, I enjoyed the non-pretense and value.

  • Alice C.

If you are looking for a low key, fun rock & roll night, this is the place. One of my favorite dive bar. I go there for Pat O'Brien on Friday or Saturday night. Most people are generally a little older, local, casual, but nice. Not a place for people watching, but that what I need while I am in LA, a place you can actually get a drink with a decent price, and enjoy some live music. It is never overly packed, you can always sit down a bit. There is a tiny dance floor near the front door, in front of the band. People have to make space for you though, if there are more than 6 people on the dance floor. A place that I would return.

  • Christina L.

This place is first rate, all the way. It is an implicit dive bar with all the perks. Not Golden Gopher-ed out (yet) so every Hwood yuppie is NOT crowding you. I'm pretty sure Smitty (the bartender) would pull a sawed off shotgun to the dome at the first inkling of any Affliction/Ed Hardy. Douchehood is very much not tolerated. Smoking is very much encouraged inside. I'm pretty sure they've been grandfathered out of the no smoking in CA policy. We met someone who played there in 1971, nuff said. They sell cigarettes and there's an 85% chance Smitty will be puffing on one while strong pouring your cocktail. Grey Goose/Belvedere and soda's are $5.00. No, not $50.00. $5.00. Drinks haven't been this cheap since I was trying to buy them underage. Our group literally had 3 Crown/Coke, 3 bourbon rocks, and 3 Grey Goose/soda; tab totaled $29. They can't possibly be in it for the money...they probably paid it off in the 70's and are just open to give them something to do. We usually go on Monday nights, which are pretty quiet. I know they have a famous stage where many talented bands have played, but I have yet to see them. The restrooms are a little cramped because the place itself is teeny tiny, but those restrooms are impeccably clean. Overall, no frills, no ridiculousness, and a super fun place to get your drunk on.

I love it here at first cabin. The bar tenders are friendly. Great bar atmosphere. The only down side is that there is no beers on tap...only bottles =o(

    (4)
  • Jason Y.

I love the Cabin! It literally is the best dive bar in town. Drinks are well made, prices are reasonable, and the environment is perfect for that post work drink, especially during the week. Toward the weekends, Pat O Brian puts on an amazing performance. I highly recommend watching his act, especially if you're into classic rock and blues. I tend to like the quieter, chill Monday nights where the bar is filled with only a handful of people, and the vibe is lax. The bartender, Phil, is a fantastic guy to just chat it up with too. Manchester United! I love this bar and stop in every chance I get when I'm in that area. I suggest you do as well.

First off..I am the hugest fan of dive bars. And after a long day of work, there is nothing better than a couple of drinkis in a dark little bar. So at 11:30 on a Monday night we were in search of a chill little dive (out of towners) with a jukebox and strong drinks...and we hit gold with this place. Definitely the sweetest little dive in Arcadia. Everyone was super friendly, including Phil the bartender. He poured us shots while we shot the shit. The music was a great mix of 70's rock. The drinks were great, and the bar looks like something out of a time warp. We had so much fun, we're heading back tonight.

  • Daniel F.

This place has a good vibe. Live music with a pretty cool band. Very diverse crowd - any one is welcomed here and I mean anyone. Still, a great place to hang out with your friends, have a few beers and maybe catch some hot ladies walking by. We would definitely come back again. We already have ;) Cons: This place is very narrow and it gets packed.

  • Jonathan O.

This is a dive bar, no getting around that. For years, it has had younger, (arguably)hipper bars and dance clubs next door but those places always close down and First Cabin stays open. Its success has a variety of ingredients, here are the two that I'm most familiar with: 1. Bob at the Helm. The bartender who years ago cut off what could have been an award winning mullet serves up great cocktails. I've never gotten a bad drink at the first cabin, and I've never paid more than $5 for on. 2. Pat O'Brien and the Priests of Love. This dive bar band plays blues and classic rock, often better than the band they're covering. Pat O'Brien appears like a vampire, mainly because he's porcelain white, not an ounce of body fat, and drinks protein shakes between sets. But appearances aside, you will be rocked by this man, do not doubt it. Every break he takes, he commands you, "...priests of love gonna take a break. get a drink, catch up on your conversation." make sure you know what day of the week it is though, he's only there Thurs, Fri and Saturday. I have seen a variety of craziness occur at this bar, everything from public intercourse to a women dancing with a guy in a wheelchair. i've been going here for 10+ years, and never seen a fight. If you're under 30, expect to be the youngest person in the bar.

My friend and I decided we needed a drink after a long week of kids (we are both tutors). We yelped it and decided to come here. I was a little surprised, since the population was much older than us, mostly middle-aged people. In fact, a man kept accusing me of being under 21, even though I insisted I was at least 21. This was a little awkward, since he was not being the nicest about it. I just took it as a compliment. I was driving, so I ordered non-alcoholic beer and my friend ordered cranberry vodka. The drinks were cheap, and my friend's drink was strong. They don't cheap out on the alcohol. Everyone is pretty nice, the band was enjoyable. Overall, good experience but probably not quite right for my age group.

  • Chris Z.

Great bar. Strong drinks and great bartenders. Best time to come is Thurs thru Sat. The house band Pat O' Brien and the Priests of Love play these nights and they rock. Great local crowd. The best part is if you need a drink in the morning, it is open at 6:00am. Rock On!

What can I say? I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE First Cabin. It's a tiny - seriously, it has one row of high tables, the bar, and about a 2' stage - but it's GREAT! My favorite bartender at the helm - Bob - sweetest man with a mighty good hand for pouring drinks... If you want to make a whole night of it (which is totally doable), get there a little early so you could actually find a seat at the bar or get a table. Again, it's tiny so finding your spot might be a problem after about 10 pm. The drinks are served well. Size and price can't really be beat. One of the best parts - the music. The house band - Pat O'Brien and his Priests of Love - is super great. The lead singer kind of reminds me of Iggy Pop, long hair, super slender, super lean muscles (it's hard not to notice, he always plays with his shirt off). Their music is a great blend of jazz, soul, garage rock, and all other genres that are cool and require a smokey voice and bad ass guitar riffs. When the band isn't playing, it's usually a pretty good selection playing over speakers. It's easy to strike up conversation with most people that go there. A ton of locals from the 210 and 626 regions. I've met some pretty awesome folks, even if they are just one-night barships. So if you're headed down Hunington Dr. and need a drink or need a break from the monotony of club music - this is the spot.

Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday awhile ago and looks like a typical dive bar, but quite small (narrow). It was a week night so it was pretty empty but it was chill. A couple of my friends come here often enough to know the bartender well enough to chit chat and such. Crowd was mostly Caucasian, which was surprising since it's located in Arcadia, which I've nicknamed "Little Taiwan". Overall, nice hang out spot for after work and after hours, but not my type of joint.

  • Tina G.

My first time at the first cabin was last night. A friend of mine has been a regular there for years and he talked the place up so much I thought there was no possible way it could be that great but it actually was pretty darn cool. First off, I saw an open seat at the bar and asked the old guy sitting next to it if it was opened, he said it was just for me and he liked my hair. For that alone I would give this place at least 3 stars. The crowd was pretty awesome. A friendly, non-threatening bunch of people, everyone was there to have some drinks and some good times. The house band also fits, everyone got into them and I was entertained. The fourth and fifth stars are for Bob. He really does makes good drinks at decent prices and the second round definitely seems a little stiffer then the first. He was also very attentive making sure all his patrons had a drink in their hand. I appreciate not constantly having to do back flips to get the bartenders attention. Also I gotta mention for the bathroom. I know, I know... but seriously for a dive bar the ladies room was pristine. I don't know if it was just a good night but that impresses me.

Pretty much, this place is great. Or maybe I just really enjoy the great music by Pat O'Brien and the Priests of Love!

I love this place. I try to visit at least once every few weeks. Pat O'brien rocks!

  • Earl B.

This is a divey dive bar in the best sense. The bartender ("Captain Bob at the helm") is an old guy who looks like he fell out of a circa-1940s sailor movie, and he makes a mean Long Island Iced Tea. The house band, Pat O'Brien and the Priests of Love, throw down rollicking 3-hour-plus sets of blues-rock every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. If you're looking for a no-nonsense, stiff-drinks-for-cheap, rockin'-music type of night out, the First Cabin is not a bad stop. youtube.com/watch?v=szcl… youtube.com/watch?v=UFlB…

it's a nice dive bar around arcadia, although i wish it's a little bigger so the music wouldnt be so loud...., but the drinks were cheap and i was surprised they have wifi! not that you need it lol. anyhow, it's a nice place to grab a quick beer and a few drinks for cheap =)

  • Laurel B.

Nice, friendly bar. Good service. The five-star rating is all about the music. Saturday night had a live Blues Rock band that was excellent. Group of 8 was lucky to find seats together at the bar. Be aware that it is very loud. Also, it gets smoky. I'll drive the 75 miles to come back. It would be more often if it wasn't quite as loud, and if they stopped letting people smoke inside. (Isn't it a law?)

  • Mko M.

I love love LOVE this place! Thank Goodness my friends had sense to bring me here a few years ago! totally awesome! I love Pat O'Brien and the Priests of Love who play on weekends. There's nothing like hangin' out at a dive bar, getting trashed with friends on decent priced drinks while Priests of Love are getting down on some Zeppelin or Stevie Ray Vaughn... they are so bad ass. I don't care if they are as old as my dad! Crowd also provides entertainment. I like to see the cougars in action and sometimes we get to see this guy who comes in with shorts and socks with birkenstocks rockin' out. Bob is a great bartender and the waitress is great as well. Get there early if you want to sit and have a table on weekends... otherwise standing room only!

Just happened to be in Arcadia one Friday night. A friend told me about this place, so I looked it up on my gps. Luckily I found it. Went in for a quick beer, but ended up staying for a couple songs. These guys are awesome. Pat Obrien, the drummer, and bass player are literally tucked into a tiny corner of the place. But it doesn't matter they sound great. If in town, give it a try.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Pat and the Priest of love is scary good! If you like blues and rock& roll you gotta come here. Drink prices are good too and the crowd isn't douchey.....so stay away douchey hollywood types and annoying hipsters! This ain't your scene...... =D

Now this place was packed on a Wednesday night! I was completely taken back by how many people were there when I strolled through the door. I was expecting a half empty bar with the usual regulars solemnly drinking away their bottomless pints but to my surprise it looked like a mini rock concert. The live band that was playing definitely had the crowd going which was a nice change to a normal dive bar I wander into and if you like classic rock, they will definitely get you moving. The fact that it was packed also made it hard to move around and really get a good spot to order drinks and chill at. My group of 8 ended up in the back of the bar in a separate smoking room which was nice for some breathing room but it also felt we were drinking in some storage room. Now I can't complain about this as of course you wouldn't normally go to a dive bar with a huge group so don't think about trying it with even 4+ people. But if you were looking for a good ole time with maybe two of your buds it definitely would be a much livelier experience than any typical weekday bar. The only problem is that it is a bit pricier than some bars I've been to ($7 dollars for whiskey) and they aren't as generous. Their regular domestic beers will run you about $4 bucks and imports at about $6 (all bottles). If you want a change from your normal sketchy dive bar then definitely check this place out! Pull up a stool, get a beer, and enjoy the fact that there are still establishments that offer great vibes and good times. Cheers!

With Bobby behind the bar and Pat behind the mike, makes for a great night. If you fork out some cash, Pat and the Priests of Love will blow your mind. The First Cabin is the definition of "dive bar". If you wanna sit down get there before 8/8:30. Where else can you get your drink on starting at 6 am! By far the best free concert this side of the 405!

This bar looks like a dive, but doesn't feel like one. I am used to going out to the Hollywood scene from night clubs to lounges and everything in between. This place is a cool hang out with a good house band and stiff drinks. It can be a bit crowded, but the crowd is never rude.

First Cabin is a daytime bar for me. You know how sometimes you just want a drink at 2 in the afternoon on a Sunday? This is the place for that. It opens at 6AM so by all means start earlier than 2 o' clock, if that is your thing. The daytime crowd is mainly older men who are there to watch and discuss the horse races. They're a fun crowd, all bawdy jokes and heavy coughing fits. There's always some sort of home-cooked food set out on Sunday afternoons, like a pie or cheese and crackers. Very welcoming atmosphere. All of the bartenders are great fun. The house band isn't bad for what it is, but honestly I stay away from the Cabin at night because it gets way too crowded and loses most of its neighborhood divey charm.

For a whole in the wall, its a pretty good whole in the wall. The bands that play there, play classics and they customer are classics to. The location is nice because its on a straight bus route if you don't feel like driving and close to restaurants, if your hungary! I'm all about location, location, location. I mean with this place what you see is what you get. I really enjoy hanging there. No preppy crowd to impress, doesn't seem like a meat market. Just good old fashion drinking and good old fashion music!

Should be called the Worst Cabin. Not only is their house band, the Priests of Love, predictable you can guarantee you will hear the same set every weekend. Not to mention...I absolutely abhor that kind of music. The few times I have been there I was always dragged and was sure to get shitty service. Case in point, the mullet toting booze-slinger behind the bar is as up to date with his customer service as he is with his hairstyle. At 1:30 a.m. the bar was practically vacant and i still couldn't get him to close my tab. The drink menu was limited. The combined customer intellect was just as limited. Pass this one by and hit the Pepper's bar down the street, and don't forget to say hello to Rudy. Hell, even the 100 to 1 has an "up" on this bar.

I know there are already many reviews for this dive bar, but I just need to add one more 5 star review because it's just that good. I love this place, great drinks, great bartenders, AWESOME band. It wouldn't be the same without the band. Pat O' Brien and the Priest of Love has got to be one of the greatest Blues Bands playing today and they take requests : ) If you're concerned about your ears you may want to bring ear plugs, but that goes for any concert. It's a tiny place, but that just makes it cozy and welcoming as well as having a little dance floor that's just so much fun. It is a dive bar, but it's clean and not shady at all (like some other dive bars). I've only been there on the weekends so I can't say what it's like during the week, but I've only had good experiences there. One downside for me is people smoke indoors so if you're allergic to smoke or something this may not be a good place for you to hang for long periods of time. Also, cougars. : ) Who doesn't love cougars. The crowd is mainly around the mids but I'm in my early 20s and I absolutely love it.

Since Joe broke First Cabin's Yelp bubble, I might as well throw in my two cents. This place opens at 6am, and when I walked by the place at 8 in the morning to run in the park, you can catch the whiff of the comforting and familiar smell of cigarette smoke combined with carpet as the jukebox blasts and you have one or two regulars already there. One wouldn't think such a place in Arcadia would exist, but this is a true dive bar at its finest. With Captian Bob at the helm, drinks are STRONG and cheap, and one of the best bands that plays blues and classic rock, Pat O'Brien and the Priests of Love are there every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. It's a tiny spot, so if you want to get a good seat, I highly recommend getting there early, otherwise you'll be SOL for a good view. Bring your singles too, because the band takes cash requests, and they know a good number of songs to play (so long as you keep to the blues/classic rock for the most part; though I hear Pat does an AWESOME Wicked Game I have yet to hear) This really is a place for people who love listening to live, rocking music and have a stiff drink while doing so. It's also great to see all the regulars cut a rug right in front of the stage. Last time I was there, someone requested "Zoot Suit Riot" and my cousin and I were challenged to swing to the song right then and there (he's my swing partner). So we did. Never a dull moment at the First Cabin.

I just moved a block away and lucked out with this bar. The house band "Priests of Love" rocked the place with my favorite Zep song and Bob the bartender is friendly. The place has a lot of history with pictures of jockeys and locals everywhere and seems to draw a pretty diverse crowd. If you are going to get something here, get a mixed drink cause you're going to want to stay a while!

Good lord, we came once at 6:30am for a pre-breakfast Screwdriver ... and the place was full! And there's actually a totally old school cigarette vending machine. It's such a dive-y, neighborhood-y bar where everyone knows each other, and people just want to go for a few drinks and relax.

I actually really liked this place. The drinks are cheap and good! One thing in particular that stood out, was that this place was uncharacteristically clean for a dive bar. I was sold.

If you smoke, and enjoy a good drink, anyday of the week, the First Cabin is the place to go. Period. It's not the fanciest, it's not the most contemporary, but if you wanna pay half the price for twice as good as drinks and service than quit wasting your money elsewhere. Friendly crowd, friendly staff, good music on Wednesday-Saturday, all around good place to drink.

Bob rules!! He's the owner and bartender of this bar. He knows how to keep his costumers coming back.....his long island drinks are the best. All I need is two of these puppies and i'm goooood. I've been coming here for about 4 years and this is one of my favorite bars. It's an older crowd but the atmosphere is great. Its not trying hard, as in, most likely you won't see your typical young crowd playing with their phone, screaming when they hear their favorite song come on. This place is for people who like to drink, dance, and have a good ol' time. Also an awesome band is always there on the weekends playing blues, and classic rock. If you plan to go with a group larger than 4 you might have a difficult time getting together to talk since the bar is kind of small....but hey, you can always hit the dance floor.

I normally go on Thursday nights. A good chilled out crowd. The drinks are strong. The bartender is awesome, the music is pretty chill, usually jazz and live rock band. Very calm inside, good conversation, and no fights breaking out. :)

The patrons here tend to be a little older, but anybody would feel welcome here. The house band is good, but sometimes a little loud for the small place. Nice character and atmosphere here. The drinks are fairly priced and potent and the service is good. There is not much space in here though.

One of my FAVORITE spots to hit up at least once a week!! Drinks are great and at decent prices. Bob makes the best drinks and pours the BEST patron shots! Pat O' Brien and the Priests of Love are always rockin over here!! I love Jimmy!!!! he's hilarious! The bar maids/waitresses are the coolest girls around, they always take care of us! A great and friendly crowd, more of a chill and casual spot, mixture of all ages! This bar is for people who enjoy local dive bars with great live music =) I love the crowd and have made some cool friends here! A neat little spot that I am at almost every friday and saturday night!

What a great bar. I have not been their in a long time. Well I have to start going again. There is a great new waitress that just started. Hook her up guy. Her name is Michelle, Red fire ball hair, and a great personality.

I've been going to the First Cabin since 1994 and it continually rocks. Although it's been awhile since I've been, I know that it will always be cool with Priests of Love!! And the drinks are knock-out in every sense of the world. We were so hammered once that we stepped out and brought In and Out Burgers for a least 35 patrons,well.... just because....it was wayyyy too much fun. Although the parking lot is miniscule, you can alway use the bank next door's parking lot, just get there early for a cool seat and parking space. Really, when you're in Arcadia, don't miss it on Huntington Drive at Santa Anita...a block going west toward the Santa Anita Race Track.

I brought a bunch of guys here from out of town on a tuesday night and we had an epic good time. "Jimmy and the Meerkats" rocked the place with fantastic, raw rock n roll and we loved it... Great entertainment, and a really cool bartender. It was awesome. I'll be back here..

The Priests of Love band is no doubt the best cover band around. They are better than the bands they cover. Don't underestimate this small dive bar, for entertainment is live and drinks are cheap.

This is an "Old School" joint that is kinda divey. It gets 4 stars 'cause the House Band is rockin', they play covers of blues standards and rock classics. I remember going in there a couple of times 15 years ago, I think it's the same band! If you go on the weekend the place is pretty packed. It's like most dives - deeper than wide, and the bar run down one side. Sort of an awkward placement of the stage by the front door makes for a crowded entryway. The clientele is a pretty local, wide mix drawn in by the tunes. It's tight but If you find a table its OK. Again, it's the music... If you like rockin blues, this Pat O'Brian and the Priests of Love (I think that's the name) are pretty damn good. No cover

IF you don't like smoke, then don't go in. This small bar allows you to smoke inside. The band on Wednesdays nights starts playing Van Halen around 11 PM. Lots of FUN is you like Van Halen...Thurs, Fri, and Sat is the Pat Obrian Band who have been there for years and play the same classic rock music each night and are very GOOD. Drinks are strong and fairly priced. Bartenders are professional. The crowd varies depending on the time of day or night. If you go during daytime hours you will be sitting alongside a group of OLD men who frequent the place. Evenings are the fun crowd. If you are from the area you might run into high school alumni. Go with an open mind and enjoy. Law enforcement circle the place around last call so leave early OR walk to Denny's and have a meal!! Then when you get home, leave your clothes in the garage and take a shower.
