Great Greek food at a fair price! Plus the service is good and it doesn't take forever to get your food. You can also call your order in and pick it up. Try the chicken souvlaki plate, it's the best. They also have the best fries.

FANTASTIC falafel. I'm now a regular. Food is excellent. Staff is friendly and fun. Price is right. Definitely recommend it.

Two words...GREEN SAUCE!!! It's so hard to find sauce these days that is spicy enough to tame my taste buds... I usually squeeze about half the bottle of green sauce to my lamb and beef gyro (super delicious btw) and also another generous squeeze of the other orangey/red sauce for some extra flavor... Order the 9 inch because if you order the 7 inch, you'd wish you had that extra last bite that will hopefully last you till your next visit...Too bad its super far from where I live, but it's def worth the drive if you have a gyro craving! I would have given this place five stars but like another yelper already noted, they only give one tiny container of sauce to go (not even filled completely) ...which is only enough for one bite. Nonetheless, they provide friendly/attentative staff and yummy gyros =)

Small space, limited seating. I had the Lamb souvlaki and a bottle of water. Meat was flavorful and it was good but it wasn't the best I've had. Portion was decent for the price.

The staff are really nice and helpful. The service is fast and the food is great! Its a cute little place as well. I had falafel and it is very good, I would recommend it. But next time we go I am going to try something else. :)

It looks like the kind of place you'd find in a strip mall, but it's priced like a normal restaurant. Unfortunately this isn't because the food or the service are awesome. My veg plate was tiny and bland. My friend got the gyros plate which comes with a giant pile of meat and two tiny triangles of pita. Thinking this must have been a mistake, since mine came with a decent amount, I asked if he could have some more. It took the counter girl (who was obviously stoned out of her mind) several minutes to figure out what I was asking for "you want... more... pita?" and then turn me down. There's plenty of other tasty places to eat similar foods further down this same block. I see no reason to return.

Cute little place across from the theater; definitely affordable. The best part about this restuarant is it is authentic food made by an Greek family. I had the lamb souvlaki, and my paramour had the lamb kabobs. Loved the lamb in general. The hummus and pita bread was the best I have had in a restuarant by far. Definitely order this appetizer. They bake the bread themselves.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Alameda. The green sauce is incredible. I find myself thinking of things I could dip in it. I consistently get excellent food and great service here, the prices are great and the portion sizes are perfect. What more do you want?? Eat at Troy!

  • Krystal C.

This place is a typical Gyro place. I like that they are quick in and out place with a simple menu of mediterranean food to pick from. Nothing really blew me away tho. My friend got the pastatito plate which was interesting. It was like a lasagna/casserole/macaroni dish- neither which are greek. That was only average. I got a chicken plate with grilled vegetables which was pretty good. The chicken was well marinated and seasoned. I would definitely come here again, it's just not mind blowing. Tho the tzatziki and pita were pretty delicious.

  • Melissa G.

Stopped in for a quick bite before True Grit across the street and it was pretty good. The really good: Falafel (wow!! good stuff), tzaziki (yogurt-cucumber) and homemade pita bread, green hot sauce - yumm-o! The average: Hummus (bland), canned/jarred dolmas (really disappointing), eggplant salad, spanokopita, olives I'll definitely come back for the falafel and will try the gyros, as it looks like that's the thing to get!

  • Andy P.

I really love a good gyro and had tried a few other places (disappointing) since moving to Alameda. Then I found the reviews for Troy here on Yelp - and boy am I glad I did! I've been eating gyros from Troy just about every day for the past two weeks now. I'm really eager to try the shawarmas and falafels but these gyros are so amazing I just keep ordering the same thing. Even if I get there right in the middle of lunch rush, they are pretty fast and the food has been perfect every time.

    (5)
  • Emily L.

Super fresh! I'm really picky about tomatoes and Troy's are so flavorful; they actually taste like tomatoes! I had my first gyro here and I was afraid to go anywhere else because I couldn't imagine anything tasting better. I have since been other places and confirmed my suspicions. If you like it hot, their hot sauce is so damn good. We bought some once, and I couldn't stop putting it on everything. And of course you can't leave without trying their handmade baklava.

    (5)
  • Alicia K.

The food is exactly what it should be. My husband and I come here every Monday and never have complaints. Personal favorites are the chicken souvlaki and the falafel sandwich. Their hummus is very good too. My husband gets the gyro a lot. They just recently made an arrangement with Alameda Wine Company across the street, so now you can take your food over there, sit on their patio and enjoy a drink with your meal. Soon I plan to try the baklava, but I'm always too full from my meal!

    (5)
  • Yaj ..

The gyros are great - the meat is full of flavor, moist and thick. Other places serve their meat either too greasy or too dry. Also, friendly staff and great hot sauce.

  • Andrew M.

I saw this place open up a couple weeks ago and finally checked it out. Walked in and and was greeted by a pretty hot woman at the counter (sup!).. stepped up and ordered. My brother had the Mediterranean platter and thought it was pretty killer. I can't remember the name of what I had, but it was some pasta with beef and a really light tomato sauce, with a killer Mediterranean on the side. I dig my food tangy and this was pretty solid. The lady was super nice, she hooked us up with some samples of falafel which were pretty crackin. Nice to have this place close by.. definitely will be back.

    (4)
  • Shalu S.

One of my favorite lunch combinations in Alameda- Falafel wrap (with hot sauce) from Troy and a Jasmine lime cooler from Peet's next door. The food is just good...nuff said! The only thing to keep in mind is that they are tiny so not good for big groups.

    (4)
  • Yoli B.

chicken was good, falafal was good, everything else sucked. Dolma was awful, spanikopita was possibly the worst I have tried. and the portions were skimpy for the price. I wont come back... overpriced and under quality. And the service sucked. I dont know why this place got such a high rating... yelp sheeple I suppose.

    (2)
  • Eric T.

I just found my new favorite place for gyros. I used to think Daphne's was really good. The gyros at Troys has more and thicker cuts of meat and the pita is soft and fluffy. The best part is the orange hot sauce. I can't wait to go back for more!

    (4)
  • Matthew M.

I had lunch there again this past week and I was pleased to see that it has become a popular spot. I had another great meal. They have added a "green" hot sauce. It was good, but "Red" sauce still rocks. Matthew

  • Joseph B.

Lamb shank was good, seasoned rice was tasty, good selection of grilled eggplant/peppers/zucchini, liked the pita. Cashier was friendly, spent a long time apologizing to someone on phone, for what I can't imagine.

  • Michael G.

Cross Gyros off your list, you get your Gyros at Troy. The food is fresh and quality is excellent mediterannean cuisine. There is no faking the funk on a nasty dunk here. Troy gets it on! Dine in or take it to go just as easy and make this a weekly stop. Great stuff.

    (5)
  • Danielle B.

I would call Troy a hole-in-the-wall, but it has charm, and it's right off Park so although it's kinda hidden, it is positioned so that it's easy to get to if you're running errands or the like. I had a humungo 9" gyro which was so good I ate all of it (originally I intended on half for lunch the next day...ha), clad with enough spicy sauce to keep my smiling the whole 9 inches. Service was quick and friendly, place is clean and the food is well-done, affordable, and with enough flavor to appease both the Greek gods and my food cravings. I have to try the Moussaka. Bonus star for having Pellegrino Limoncello.

    (5)
  • Faye H.

Discovered this hole in the wall with my best buddy as we squeeeze in a quick lunch before her meeting in the city. We were like 2 crack addicts, feigning for hummas and this definitely hit the spot along with their fresh warm pita bread. Will be back for more, love eating hummas, warm pita bread, yogurt sauce while staring at pictures of Santorini on the wall daydreaming :)

  • Desiree L.

yummy come here a lot but my favorite is the beef with noodles and cheese sauce and tomatoes hmmm yummy Greek Casserole! hmmm try the Baklava

  • Jo Ann H.

Yummmmmmmmmie!!! For several years, I've been craving some Mediterranean food near home and this place has made me very happy in my search for great Greek goodies. Try the entire menu when you can as there are lots of lovely bits of Greek food and the seasoning is lovely in all of them. This makes good take out which is important due to the small size of the place.

    (5)
  • Craigen L.

This place has some really great food. Its delicious, fairly priced, and generously portioned. I usually get the regular Gyros and it is on point. The Gyros meat/fresh veggies/ warm flatbread/ sauce is all excellent. They definitely know how to make a killer sandwich and its worth every penny. They also make this really tasty red sauce which is kind of like a twist on Tapatio but way better. Hard to explain but it is distinctly unique to this restaurant and is a MUST.

  • scott h.

Tiny place with really good food and top-notch friendly service. Prices aren't bad either. Traditional Mediterranean lemon rice chicken soup is very good. Pita is fresh and warm. Kebabs are also outstanding. Troy is a great alternative to a chain Mediterranean restaurant like Daphne's.

  • John K.

Great addition to Alameda. Good gyros, moussaka and shawerma.

  • Linda S.

This place is great! Super tasty Greek food at a decent price. A friend and I stumbled upon this place when I first moved to Alameda and loved it. I'd gotten the Pastitsio (like a Greek version of lasagna) and she got the Moussaka. Both of us loved it. Last night wanted a quick meal before a movie and got the delicious Chicken Souvlaki . The deliciously roasted chicken came with wonderfully roasted vegetables, rice pilaf and Tzatziki with pita. At first I thought the portion of chicken was small, but it was quite filling. Great location directly across the street from the Alameda Theatre. Small area to eat, but they do have some outside seating and they do take out! Highly recommend.

  • Dana H.

One of my favs! We walk by this location often and one Saturday decided to have lunch. We now stop by weekly. We usually split a Chicken Shawarma and a greek platter.

I'm one happy foodie right now. Tonight, my wife and I visited Troy for the first time. The food was incredibly tasty, especially on a cold Friday night when we just don't want to cook. I had the chicken shawarma with a side of Greek fries which had a lot of great taste and the tahini was tangy and delicious. The meal lasted a whole 7 minutes once it hit my plate. What can I say, I was hungry after going to the gym. I should have ordered the 9 inch. My wife had the Mediterranean platter. By the looks of her empty plate, she must have enjoyed her food as much as I did. She said, the rice wasn't dry and it had just the right amount of tyogurt sauce. I tried a piece of her chicken and it was moist and a little peppery, yum. The incredibly nice woman behind the counter gave us a piece of her homemade baklava - review to come later. (OK, its now later. The 'homemade" baklava was awesome. The texture was perfect and the sweetness was a great finish to our meal.) Its great to have friendly Mediterranean food in walking distance from home. Troy, welcome to the neighborhood. Troy deserves five stars within its category, especially compared to Daphne's. Troy is great addition to the neighborhood, as a flavorful alternative to the plethora of burrito shops in the area.

I'm digging exploring my new home - Alameda. I've only been to Troy once, for to-go a lamb kabob wrap thingy... but it was amazing! The meat was so fresh... usually cheap lamb is all gristly... yuck. This place rocks. I'll be heading back for sure.

  • VJ M.

This was GREAT Greek food for a quick take out restaurant. We ate outside, with a nice cool breeze and people watched the folks arriving at the old theater across the street. Hot, tasty, and the service was friendly and accurate! What more do you ask? Well, my husband's french fries were to die for! I don't know why there's not a line a mile long outside Troy's! Must be the best kept secret in Alameda!

  • Tatiana O.

This is my favorite Greek place! I really like the people that work here. They are very personable. It's a small, cute, very casual place. Location is great - right in front of the movie theater so it is perfect for a quick bite to eat right before a movie. The price is right and the portions are perfect. Food is delicious!!!

  • Dave L.

Amazing Greek food and very reasonably priced in a perfect little downtown setting. The weather on the evening we ate there was perfect so we ate outside on the front street area. The gyro is simply to die for. I could eat three of them in a row. I got the larger size and it was perfect. The service was great and I think one of the owners brought me my food and she was very nice and even came out to check on us once we were half way through our meal. I also had the Backlava (sp?) which I normally dont love, but it was great. The green hot sauce should be bottled and sold. Great all around restaurant.

  • Bella S.

Cute little place, nice staff, but mediocre appetizers. I ordered the dolmas and avgolemono soup. The dolmas were cold and did not contain the much-heralded beef (the way I like them-if I wanted cold dolmas I'd go to Cost Plus and pick up a tin). In addition, the grape leaves used for the dolmas would have benefitted from 1-2 more soakings to get rid of the harsh flavor. The avgolemono soup was thick with rice and egg, as it should be, but the lemon was overpowering. I suspect that the cook did not use chicken broth to prepare the rice; had he done so it would have balanced out the lemon nicely. The dolmas was served with about a cup of tsaziki but only two pita pieces - way too much sauce, too little pita. I'll stick to Athenian in Suisun and Petra in Orinda for fast Greek food.

Delicious falafel with fresh, doughy pita. What more could you ask for?

    (5)
  • Caroline S.

I've always thought gyro places were just ok. Maybe it was just not my thing. This place has changed all that. Everything in Troy's menu is delicious! The gyros have the fluffiest tastiest pitas. The rice plates are fabulous. Whatever meat you choose it's tender, seasoned well and the rice is buttery good. I highly recommend their baklava. I can't wait to eat there again!

    (4)
  • Jason P.

Great food, great price.....cant ask for more! I'll definitely be back!

  • Cee L.

Troy is a good stop to get a bite to eat before seeing a movie. Service is quick and the food is pretty good. The food is a bit pricey for what I'm used to for amount of greek food you get. My husband and I both got a gyro and an appetizer portion of the hummus with four pieces of pita bread, which all came out to be $20. Not bad, and a better choice than Daphnes.

    (3)
  • Jim B.

Tiny place, but great & generous food portions. All fresh & tasty. Perfect location for the pedestrian perusing Park St. The Troy Salad (Greek salad topped with Gyros meat) makes for a satisfying meal. Never disappointed.

  • Duane T.

I was excited to see that the new restaurant that replaced the bubble tea shop opened, so I decided to take one for the team and be the first to review the food. Fortunately, it was a good experience. I called a take-out order in, the Gyros Platter, which includes a generous portion of lamb and beef with pita, and a Horiatiki salad of tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, feta cheese and kalamata olives. I am definitely a fan and will be back!

  • Cat F.

My wife and I stopped by to sample the fair and were pleasantly suprised. We have had Greek food many times in the past and Troy ranks up there with the best of them. The Greek fries were hot and fresh as well as awesome. The gyro was also really good. The sauce was perfect (to include the amount) and the amount if meat (including the taste) was great. Usually when a new Greek place pops up we try it and if you are in the mood stop on by. The place is small and offers little seating. There is only street parking available.

    (4)
  • Clo L.

I've been here several times and have been impressed with the food and service every time. It's a no frills place where you order at the counter before finding a seat to wait for your food. The food always comes out quickly and is delicious. I particularly like the dressing on the Greek salad. Yum! The service is actually very good and attentive too.

    (4)
  • David D.

Lunch at Troy is more expensive than lunch at Subway. And you know what? First Class airfare is more expensive than Coach. You will have forgotten the few bucks more you'll pay for lunch at Troy by dinner time. But the taste of that Athenian Chicken Salad will haunt you for much longer. Alameda is lucky to have Troy.

My sister and I were doing some shopping on Park Street yesterday when we came across this hole in the wall place that serves Greek food. We were both a little bit skeptical, and decided to mull over the idea of going there while we shopped at a couple boutiques on the Alameda Strip. But we sucked it up and decided to give the place a shot. And man, it was a pleasant surprise! My sister had the gyro platter and I had the chicken schwarma plate. The meat on the gyro platter was amazingly flavorful and seasoned really well and was - gasp! - moist!! The chicken on my schwarma plate was dry. Boo. This place was also kind of pricy. I think both our plates were in the $8.75-8.95(?) range. They were served with seasoned rice and Greek salad.

    (3)
  • Chris F.

The food is delicious - we've been twice, and we had the Lamb Special (in tomato sauce over rice), and the Moussaka. Both were excellent. This place will be pretty busy, pretty soon. Very friendly service as well.

  • Amber R.

Love this place! Its small and easy to stop in annd grab a bite. I have been living on the falafels which are really made well and tasty! I also love the spanikopita and fries (of al things)...yummy! I am so happy to have this addition to the Alameda line up.

    (5)
  • Yvonne T.

Troy is our go-to greek food place. We love their gyro and greek fries. And it's all about their hot sauces - there's 2 - we just call it the red and green hot sauce. The green one is a bit spicy for me, but my husband loves it. You can't help but put the hot sauces on everything!

  • Molly W.

SOOOOO good! And the people are SOOO friendly! I could eat here every night!!

love this place! cute little gem. very few tables but worth the wait to have a seat & enjoy a meal. i had the Mediterranean Platter & my friend had the Gyros Platter.. i was all up on her plate eating her gyros lol. My plate was good too, i loved there tzakiki sauce! i ordered another plate with extra bread. this is a great place to come on a springy or summery day after chillin at the beach or something.. eat and take a nice little walk in town. would love to come back!!

YUMMY! I had the chicken shawarma and my husband had the gyro. It was quick and excellent. The staff was friendly as well.

  • sigourney w.

this place was really good. my dad won't go to any greek place without a spit, so you can be sure this place has one. i couldn't finish the larger sized gyro in one sitting..it was too big! so it could be good for 2 meals for me! not a bad price for 2-for-1 meal :) the gyro was very good..yum!

    (4)
  • Jill k.

i love gyros, but the meat on the meat just didn't quite hit the spot, and something about romaine lettuce on it just seemed wrong. i liked the avegolemono (lemon chicken soup), though!

    (3)
  • Heidi A.

This place is right on the money! The food quality is amazing for the price point and they do a nice job. I am seriously impressed everytime with how fresh the food is. The falafel sandwich is my favorite with extra hot sauce!

    (4)
  • Lynn L.

The best falafels I've had in a very long time. This place has been open only a few days, but I think it will be very popular. It beats Daphane's at South Shore hands down. This is the real deal, not a poorly executed chain.

    (4)
  • Jules C.

great service, good food, not a great space. feels way too fast-foody to actually sit down and eat (we did, but it felt odd) but the food is tasty and the service is excellent.

  • Cookie S.

love love love this place i'm a vegetarian and there are TONS of options on their menu for us veggies. my favourites 7" falafel wrap greek fries ( the best EVER) lentil soup side of grilled vegetables with a side of rice pilaf PLUS there's the vegetarian platters and other vegetarian wraps service is super nice and friendly and really fast. like hot and ready to go in five minutes fast. troy. you have my heart

My friend and i stoped here for lunch because we have a habit of trying our new places.....my first impression of it was that it was pretty small cause it used to be Quickly's, and by the way the asian kids aren't happy about it. ....so we walked in, totally confused, there was like 4 tables or so on the inside and some old people were eating at 2 tables.......My friend ordered the chicken shawarma or something with a small fries and a coke after 3 minutes of looking through the menu in confussion.......we got our meal in under 5 minutes and i have to say, the fries were awsome, simple and golden with salt and pepper.....delicious...the chicken thing was ok, not alot of flavor and we had to leave because the rest of the highschool lunch cruise were packing into the tiny place,, on the way the chicken "sandwich" was dripping juice all over the place and got on my friend's shirt......we were not so satisfy, however, i would order another fries.....i guess we'll try it again and order something else......i did like how the food was full of lettuce and healthy stuff, it was light and not so full of fat like other places....i'll try it again.

    (3)
  • John K.

The eggplant salad was good and probably would have earned Troy 4 stars. However, the chicken shwarma was incredibly bland. The chicken was flavorless and dry and I could not taste any of the tahini sauce. The dominant flavor of the wrap was the romaine lettuce. Not too exciting. Also a little pricey for what you get.

    (2)
  • Jenn O.

the food was great. i really enjoyed the falafal and pastitsio (spelling?). this place is small, prices are average, and service is good. the physical menu board is a work of art. :)

  • Ha T.

Yummy gyros! Came here on a warm October night and sat outside to eat. Small little Alameda join right across the street from the Alameda Theater. Grab a bite, watch a movie then go next door to the wine bar and call it a date! The gyros were flavorful and juicy.. not dry like most places I've tried. Their tzatziki sauce IS to die for.. Yum! I would definitely be coming back!

    (4)
  • Chris L.

My wife had the Greek Lemon soup which she says is better at Kokkari in SF...but she is not writing this review! I had felafel and a Greek salad. It is pretty hard to mess up a salad, but I was actually impressed with how perfectly proportioned all the ingredients were. The salad was very good, but the felafel was ridiculous. $1 for a small taste of heaven. Bowl of soup, a big salad, and yummy felafel for $11 and some change. Not bad! And the lady working there was very nice too! We will definitely be going back.

    (5)
  • Tim H.

Great gyros, great tzatziki! We had dinner here before a movie at the Alameda Theater and all of us loved our gyros. One dish came quite late and they certainly could have been more gracious about it, but it was made up for by being so good.

    (4)
  • T L.

I love their falafel, it is delicious stuff. They are also fast with their orders.

    (5)
  • Lauren W.

I'm always looking for good Greek restaurants! I went to Troy because of all the great reviews and was not disappointed. As far as the food goes, it's excellent. The Gyro was fantastic. Let's face it, if a Greek restaurant can't make a good Gyro, they're totally not worth another try. The hummus had a bit of a kick to it but was delicious. I also had the Greek Rice and Lemon soup (if I could spell it, I would). I have had better (homemade mostly) but it is a tough soup to perfect and they did do a good job. It's a tiny restaurant so it's cramped but the food and their kindness more than makes up for it. Also, make sure to look at their catering on their menu! Next time we have a party, I would definitely go there. It's more expensive to buy all the items and make it than it is to just order it from these guys! If you want GOOD and AUTHENTIC Greek food, go here :)

    (5)
  • Kate H.

A real Falafel, so fresh, lightly crispy on the outside and delicately moist on the inside. Yes, this is the BEST Falafel on our fancy little island. I like how clean the establishment is kept and they are always friendly. Have you had the Baklavah? Can't spell it, but I can taste it, it's....real.

    (5)
  • Daphne L.

I pretty much never eat Mediterranean food... but... this place... is ... the bomb. Everything is so fresh, and I love the pita wraps. The 7" is enough for me, I lather it in the green sauce... DELICIOUS spicy green sauce!!!! Really. Must try it. It's a bit spicy though........ They're really friendly, willing to explain everything on the menu, and service is fast even though they're so popular and busy. Yum yum!

  • jennifer c.

The chicken shawarma, green hot sauce, and french fries are AMAZING! This is my new go to place. I can't get enough of it!

    (5)
  • Todd C.

5 stars for the Greek fries...hands down the best fries I've ever had. They are so simple, yet so great. It could be that they go amazingly well with their house sauces...both the red and green. The gyro is good....though not consistent. I sense it is either freshly prepared and delicous....or re-heated and a bit tough, depending on when you go. It probably has 6 tables, so definitely not suited for large groups. If you're in Alameda in craving Greek food.....this is the place you want to go, not the other Greek places a few doors down.

    (4)
  • Brian Y.

Boo. I love gyros, so I was really excited to try this place. Instead, the gyro was rather bland and unexciting, and more dry than I would've liked. The gyro by itself was two stars, but I'll give them three stars because the hot sauce they give with the gyro is quite good. Totally uninspiring, though.

Excellent Greek food served super fast and fresh! ---FOOD--- 1) Gyro Wrap, 9 inches, $7.50ish - Very generous portion of tender, thick slices of gryo beef and lamb served with a bountiful amount of crispy romaine lettuce, tomatoes, and a cool, flavorful yogurt sauce (tzatziki?) wrapped in a warm, crisp flat bread. - Highly recommended!!! (By me!) 2) Mezza Plate, $8.50ish - Comes with a heaping amount of zesty hummus (large ice cream scoop size-ish) topped with a yogurty green sauce of some sort, eggplant salad (like baba ganoush, except, very lightly blended so the chunks of eggplant are still fairly whole with some bell pepper, too), kalamata olives, cubed goat cheese, 2 incredibly delectable falafels, 2 dolmas, and 4 slices of thick delicious flatbread! I really liked how they clearly separated each item on this plate -- it allowed me to savor the flavor of each before moving on to the next -- as a true sampler plate should be like! (Though, Will M. and I discovered that hummus + falafel = MmmMmm!). Only wished that they gave MORE flatbread....gah...so good! ---PRICE/VALUE--- For about $17, we left cleaning the entire plate and feeling very satisfied and contently satiated! ---AMBIANCE--- Small and very clean hole-in-the-wall place with 5 small round tables, a nice large menu sign, and simple decorations. ---SERVICE--- Courteous and FAST! Took less than 10 minutes for sure! ---FINALLY--- If you're in Alameda and are in need of a quick hit of Greek deliciousness, definitely drop-in to Troy's!

The best GYRO in a long time. During the first bite, I remembered how much I love pressed lamb/beef meat and tzatziki sauce! The lettuce was dark green likely red leaf lettuce or bib, the tomatoes were crisp and not mushy, and diced perfectly. The tzatziki sauce was fresh, cool, and just heavy enough! The server brought "hot sauce" to my table and although I didn't ask for it, I was so glad she did. What was that hot sauce? The gyro was perfection alone but, the hot sauce gave my taste buds a few moments more of gyro nirvana.

Quick service, good food, great prices. Nice little place off of Park St to grab a bite to eat. The cashier girl/ server is one of the friendliest nicest I've experienced in all of Alameda. Their Gyros are reeeeeeally good, not like the typical cookie cutter gyros you get everywhere else.

The only thing I order here is the melitzano and it is pretty frickin fantastic. The ingredients always taste really fresh. They have something similar for half the price at Trader Joe's which I think is called the eggplant wrap. However, it's smaller in size and not as tasty, but it is good. I'm not usually a fast eater, but when I come to Troy for the melitzano, I pretty much inhale it. It's also one of those foods you can eat and feel full, but not sluggish afterwards. It's a winner. Try it.

I'm glad that I finally tried this place... The food is excellent and the portions are more then fair... An excellent addition to the Park St area...

I like this place a lot. The food is really good. It's a very tiny place though, so I usually get my order to go. If you go during a busy night you'll have a hard time finding a table.

This place is really really good! The Athenian Chicken Salad and Gyros Wrap are my favorites for under $20. This place is also a nice spot for people watching. Nevermind the place next door. If you are in the mood for excellent Mediterranean food, go here!

I checked yelp on for Greek food in good ol' Alameda, and decided with this place. We had a hard time finding it at first, but walked in and were greeted friendly. We walked up to order, and I was craving lemony soup....until I saw them put a big jug of lemon concentrate in the pan. That was a turn off. I had already ordered it, and when it arrived at our table I thought it was lemon juice and cream curdled together. All warm. Ya. The hummus was bland, and the platter my friend and I shared was very stingy, not large at all.

SERVICE = Mary Rose rocks! It was my first time here and she was nice and helpful to my fiance and I when we were perusing the menu. FOOD = For appetizers, we got Hummus with Pita (comes with 4 slices) for $4.25 and one piece of Spanakopita. I got the Chicken Shawarma.. 7" for $6.25. My fiance and I split it and we were both kinda sloppy with it--but it was good. The roasted chicken was tender. Let me point out that the wraps section allows you to order a 7" or 9" and you can have it cut in half for your convenience. Tim got the Lamb Souvlaki for $8.95. Mmm.. his platter had some yummy pilaf--Tim's half Armenian and he approves :) PAYMENT/PRICING = Pricing seems fine. Appetizers range in price from $2.75 - $4.75. Salads: $6.50 - $7.95 Soups: $3.50 - $3.75 Wraps: $6.25 - $7.50 Platters: $8.25 - $8.95 Sides & Extras: $0.75 - $2.75 PARKING = We parked in the parking garage next to Angela's and the Theatre.. it's free after 5pm. *EXPERIENCE* = Troy's is a small restaurant nestled between Pappo Restaurant and the Alameda Beauty School. Tim and I enjoyed our dinner.. we didn't have to wait long for our food.. it's also in a perfect location if you want to watch a movie right across the street or walk around on Park Street. Mary Rose and the staff are so cool and they all were friendly.

Its great to have a med place in alameda finally! This place serves all the usuals and at decent prices too. I ordered a Gyros 9inch wrap here and mezz combo platter for 17 bucks. The Gyros was tasty and generous in the meat department. Meat was caramelized on both sides and each bite was thick and flavorful. The sauces and meat were nice and salty and were enchanced by the more neutralness of the wrap. But wait! It gets better! put on some of their homemade yogurt hot sauce and BAMN! The gyros just becomes twice as good! The mezz platter was good. The dolmas here are greek so they have meat in them. They are also not as thick with olive oil as well. The Falafels were absolutely a marvel. It was so heavily packed together that it retains it's shape perfectly with each crunchy bite. The Egg plant salad was also a nice change of pace from Babaganoush. Its chunky and makes you feel like you're actually eating a plant rather than a colorless paste. The hummus was very good as well and came with a cilantro yogurt garnish. The portions I felt could have been a little bigger and they definitely need to give more pita bread. So definitely give this place a try!

Delicious gyros. Can't get any better than this and if you people find something better let me know! I'm a big fan of this place and this is my go to place for delicious mediterranean food!

Still delicious. However, when you pay $8.90 for a sandwich & fries while watching the high school kids get the exact same thing, plus a drink, for $5.00 kind of sucks. Now I'm bitter. Maybe it's time to do some reverse shoulder-tapping. "Psst. Hey, kid. Go in and get me a gyro. Here's $6.00, keep the change."

My number one lunch spot in Alameda is now occupied by Troy. I have eaten here about six times now and everything I have eaten is very good. These girls make some delicious gyros, chicken shwarma, meza platter, lamb souvlakia and, perhaps the best of all, falafels. The french fries on the combo platter are also terrific. The staff is gracious and to date we have always eaten at the outdoor tables which provide a quaint sidewalk bistro setting. It may be a difficult place to eat at in poor weather as there are only a few small tables inside. All of the dishes that I have sampled were around $10 or less for lunch making Troy a great lunch value. The red and green hot sauces are both great also. Now I seriously love greek and mediterranean food and try just about every place that I see and I must say that this little hole in the wall compares favorably to all others. Troy is truly worth trying.

Really lovely, cozy spot near my house. Great chicken schwarma an souvlaki, falafel, amazing lemonade and baklava! Very reasonably priced! Not much room to sit, but if it's nice outside, there are a couple of tables to enjoy sidewalk dining.

I love Greek/Mediterranean food. I literally can't get enough of it. I have been looking high and low for a local spot, as there are restaurants in Alameda that fit the categorical bill, but like most Alameda food joints, they are essentially mediocre and most importantly, inconsistent. That said, on the recommendation of a coworker, I walked the mere three blocks from my house to this very small, easy to overlook hole in the wall. My girlfriend and I both got the Falafel the first time around, as I was not in the mood for fish or meat. They nailed it. The Falafel was moist and delicious, with a hummus and tahini that were out of this word. They did not overdo it on the dressings as most places of this sort do, and I opted for the hot sauce as well. Best decision I ever made. They gave us an additional bottle just in case, and I must have emptied half of the bottle. I would recommend this place for the hot sauce alone. They have a wide menu, and I tried a chicken wrap the second time and it was equally impressive. I have decided to go down the menu and try each item one by one. I haven't tried the salads yet, but I saw another customer eating one and they look quite hearty. Pricing was apparently once upon a time a bit high, but I spent 13 dollars and the two of us walked away beyond full. Limited seating, some indoor, some outdoor, maybe in the vicinity of around 14-16 people. Highly recommended!

I liked my meal so much I went for lunch and dinner the same day! For lunch I had one of the last specials - comfort food = lamb and spinach over a chicken broth rice pilaf. YUMMY!!!! For dinner I had a gyro and chicken soup. Soup wasn't bad, but I was thinking of something else. So not their fault. Gyro tasty. Service both times AWESOME.

Solid Greek food at an affordable price. My pita wrap was very good. It had strong flavor combination and good textures. It was just the right size. The Lemonade was too sweet. My wife had the Moussaka and thought it was good for Moussaka (although she declares she doesn't know why she bothers with moussaka since she never really likes it). The restaurant is small and only has seating for about 10-12 total in pairs of two. It seems to be more of a take and go place than a sit down and eat place, but you can definitely sit down and eat. Then there was the Baklava. Christina says Baklava is the reason she eats Greek, and that theirs was spot on. Overall not the best Greek I have been to, but the best Greek I have eaten in Alameda, and basically the best I have had in a couple years (although that just tells you how rarely I eat Greek, despite loving it). We will go back.

Wow. This place has amazing wraps. The gyro is the best I have ever had. The quantity of meat they give you and the pita wrap are amazing. We took it to go to an A's game, but I am told it's amazing hot and fresh when you eat there. Also tried the falafel and it's quite good. It's just as good as Oasis. The prices are really good for what you get, they have 7 and 9 inch wraps. Won't be going to Daphne's anymore. Might consider this more than a burrito now.

Yummy and walking distance from the house... I love it! Got the chicken plate and had to save some for lunch the next day. Now it's all about the chicken salad... Delicious and flavorful. Get the spanokopita and you got a great meal! Friendly service, ok prices, Fresh and tasty food. This is a fine dining spot indeed.

Everyone knows that food in Alameda leaves a bit to be desired. Food quality is less than par and so is service. With that in mind, I gave this place 3 stars. I ordered a lamb shwerma (served in a pita bread), greek fries, an ice tea, and a really great tasting piece of baklava (savored every delicious bite). My friend ordered the falafel (served in a pita bread) and diet coke. It all cost $22 and some changes. You order at a counter; no frills. My friends and I sat outside and when we were closed to finished the person at the counter came out to check on us and see if we needed anything; we needed a to go container and her timing was perfect. About the food. My friend said the falafel was a bit mushy, and should be more crispy...we are all caucasian and maybe the mushiness is the way it is supposed to be traditionally, but, my friends preference is a solid falafel. I personally thought it looked rather tasty in the 'mushy' state; I think I would prefer mushy over hard. The french fries were like steak fries, with salt and pepper on them. They were very fresh and perfectly done. My shwerma was very flavorful, I had them add feta cheese to it and it was excellent. I could only eat half of the shwerma to my disappointment because it was so good I didn't want to stop eating. There was just enough of each thing in the shwerma; there was nothing overpowering the other ingredients, but the meat was definitely tasty and came off the spit. My friends liked their food (they ordered the same thing). We all liked the fries. This is a good lunch spot for sure; especially if you want something a little healthier.

Quite simply the best Gyro that I've ever had the pleasure of sinking my teeth in to. Intricate flavors bursting with every bite. The meats are as fresh as the produce and the bread is always soft yet firm enough to keep the contents intact through the very last bite. If you really want to complete the meal add an order of the BEST French Fries on the island. Crispy, golden and delicious. Try mixing a little of their bold hot sauce in with your ketchup for a nice zing! Everything else that I've had there has been completely satisfying as well but I keep coming back for my favorite!

Another exception to Alameda's not so great choice for lunch. The place is good greek/mediterranean good. It misses the mark by being a blend though. Arab and greek food, especially shawermas, should not be combined. I ordered the chicken shawerma. Growing up with authentic Lebanese shawermas, on their specialty rolling grills, this place gets it right but not the original way. They use pita bread, not lavash, huge huge plus. Tahini sauce too, another big big plus. Their fries are authentic, large cut greek fries. Portions are big too. And this is where it goes wrong: - Tahini sauce is good, but not as good as DishDash - Overloaded lettuce, greek style, but not really Lebanese/mediterranean. Overall, great if you look at it from a Greek perspective. However, combining Greek and Lebanese cuisine kind of makes it like the loner child. They did initially mess up my order but they fixed it, so no complaints there. The baklava is definitely authentic and huge and so good. Still, really good food, just not phenomenal. My quest for the perfect shawerma continues. Just do not know whether it's greek or Lebanese. Great for Alameda though.

Had my first falafel and it was really good (spicy and flavorful) though never having falafel I have nothing to compare it to. Also had the Dolmas which I'd also never had but really liked.

I literally just finished eating one of their gyros for the very first time and I immediately had to write a review. One word to describe the gyros here: BOMBDIGGITY! I haven't tried anything else, but I'm sure its good. Service is super friendly and very quick. I'll be coming back again for sure. Maybe even as soon as tomorrow...

I was happy when I stumbled upon Troy across from the theater. I love Greek food and have been less than impressed with Daphnes and the other little spot on the corner. I had a 7 inch chicken shawarma. They gave me some garlic sauce that was uber yummy. My compadre had a lamb gyro and liked it too. I'm looking forward to trying some of their other items. I'm glad we took the gamble and tried it. I'd definitely go back.
