Decent German food. Wish the brown gravy with the sauerbraten had more of a ginger taste like my mom makes. I love finding German food anywhere so I will definitely be back!

Coming in, I was a bit nervous. It's hard to find well made meats in the US! The deal offered through Yelp ($10 for a $20 voucher) definitely helped convince me to try it though. I walked through the door and was greeted immediately and helped to find a seat. The waiters/staff were hospitable and more than helpful. I then started looking around the restraint. It reminded me of my grandparents home in New York. The decorations and smells of onions and sausage being cooked brought back great memories of home. The food prepared here at Steiner's rivals that of my great-grandmother's cooking. Wonderful food, done the right way! I got the Reuben with the Bean and Brat Soup and it was simply astounding how well it was all made. Their brats are also some of the best I've had in a while. It took a bit to get the food prepared and to my table, but quality food always does. If you're looking for some authentic German/Polish home cooking, Steiner's is the place to go.

A hidden gem in Yuma, that is in plain sight! The brats were amazing and the soups and salads made them perfect combos. Not pricey at all. When my wife and I went there we had the pleasure of meeting the gentleman who ones the place and held a conversation about the food. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys good food. 5 Stars!

Went there for lunch with my mother and my wife on a trip to Tuson. Nice waitress, good service and the food was homemade and good. Tried several different things.

I am working at MCAS Yuma as a contractor and living here at Clarion 5 days each week; have been for 4 weeks now. I can't believe this restraunt! Reminds me of the homemade bratwurst, sausage sandwiches, and potato salad my grandma used to make when I was a kid! Most excellent in just about every way. The ambiance is fun and very German, every member of the staff I had contact with was friendly and helpful, the food was addictive to me. I can't believe there's a place like this in Yuma, of all places! I wish they were in San Diego, I would be there with my family very often. As long as I am in Yuma, I may just go here every night for supper. PS. If you want a beer or two with your Brats, buy some at a nearby store; they let you bring it in since they don't have a license to sell it.

Not so good. The Jaeger Schnitzel was almost paper thin and tough.b the gravy on the schnitzel was a weird purple color and not very creamy. The mushroom artichoke soup was not edible. It tasted like it was heated up in the microwave. The purple cabbage was disappointing. Very flat, mushy and old tasting. I did like the dilled cucumber radish salad. It was cold and fresh tasting. I would not go back here. I was glad I had a yelp coupon.

Food is awesome! A must stop if u r in Yuma or just passing thru. Had the artichoke mushroom soup! To die for! Had the cucumber dill & cuc radish salads. 1/2 sandwiches are plenty! Reuben & Max sandwiches were also good! Great service, great people!

This is one funny and interesting place! Yuma isn't exactly food heaven, it's ruled by a myriad of more or less bland burger joints so 'Steiner's European Deli' needs to be recommended! So much so that I plan to visit them again to try out different dishes - the menu offers quite a selection. I had the 'plain Schnitzel' which is really a misnomer. It's not 'plain' because it's breaded and it is generally worldwide known as 'Wiener Schnitzel'. It's a good approximation of the real thing - not bad. The Red Kraut is quite good too - Red Kraut is prepared differently all over Germany and Austria and the Steiner's version is very enjoyable. Too bad the 'Rouladen' were not available, I'll have those on the list for the next visit. All in all, Steiner's Deli is a nice place to visit and to find a place like that in Yuma is pretty amazing: solid 4 stars in my book ;)

Decided to go back for a second try and now know we will never return!! I really don't know why everyone keeps giving such high ratings. I always say you can tell how clean the kitchen is by how clean the restrooms are. Enough said.....ordered the same as what we had last time. Pork tenderloin and Rubin, buns were stale, it was hard to see the meat because there was so little of it!! Food did not taste fresh at all!!This time we asked for the lunch price, last time we were there we paid full menu price. There are so many other places to dine in Yuma that are sooo much better and cleaner!! Don't know how they stay in business. Step up the quality, quantity and cleanliness!

Stopped by on way to SD wanting something more than a fast food chain. I really hit the jack pot here! Chris the owner was very friendly and the recipes are family tradition.. I ordered 2 items to go since we had our dog in the car. #1. Turkey/cheese sandwich was as good of a deli sandwich I've ever had -- including NY -LA. Really lean - fresh & rye bread was excellent . #2. The 3 sausage plate special ( no bread and not needed) was over the top.. Fresh taste very lean and well seasoned - no filler --- and onions and kraut were awesome.( try the deli mustard and ketchup with curry) This is a BEST Kept secret in Yuma.. -thanks to Yelp I would've never found this little GEM on 4th ave. I will be back on my next trip to SD..

I just had 2 amazing sandwiches. The Reuben is probably the best I've ever eaten. Come here and try a soup n sandwich for lunch and you won't be sorry.

Very good food! I had three sausages (Polish, beer, & bockwurst) and two side salads (red cabbage & red potato salad). All were very tasty. The bock was milder than I like my sausages so probably wouldn't order it again but they do have a spicy bock that I would try. Overall, the service was excellent and the food arrived within what j would expect. I will definitely come here again.

Very impressed by this place. On the outside didn't look all that impressive, but upon entry was blown away by all the smells and good looking food! Had my meal here and got the dish where it was their take on a hamburger! If was two slices of meatloaf on a nice large bun! Had the meal which included two sides. One side had some type of sausage soup with sauerkraut. The sausage was amazing and the juice and potato was equally amazing. Didn't eat the sauerkraut in the soup. Had the spaetzle noodles as my second side and was less than energized with that. Still good but not as remember them. The actual sandwich was pretty good. The meatloaf was very tasty and enjoyed it. Though highlight was the soup. Only minor complaint is didn't get mustard when asked. Didn't follow up to get it but looked like they have authentic German mustard.

Love this place, can't go wrong with the Max... it's amazing and the customer service is pretty great too.

It's nice to have a place like this in Yuma but I wasn't thrilled about the food. I tried the Cordon Bleu Schnitzel. It comes with 2 sides and I chose the potato pancake and red saur kraut. I also tasted a brat, bean and brat soup and the apple strussel. While everything was decent nothing stood out. The food was just simply too bland. The soup was on the sweet side which I didn't like. Brat was good but not much different than brats you can buy at the grocery store. Their sandwich prices seem reasonable but some of the dinner items are pricey. I was sad that they don't serve beer. The building is neat and the place was clean. We waited quite a while for the check before realizing we needed to pay at the counter. We only realized this when we saw another customer pay. The waitress was friendly but never offered drink refills and disappeared for quite while during the meal. Overall the place is ok. I don't plan to return really, but it may be worth a visit if German food is your thing. I've had better German food though, even in Yuma.

We were looking for something non-chain in yuma while passing through and found this place. It was sooooo good! I small little, clearly family run business. We had the dill cucumber salad, a pastrami sandwich, and a mushroom sandwich, all of which were delicious. Every time I am in Yuma now I am going to make a stop-by here.

The food is good, service is really bad!! Every time we go we eat in shifts. Meaning, they bring you the Sausages, but the sides come later. Or if you have guests, everyone eats at seperate times. Nice people, but bad waiters and waitresses.

  • Jim O.

We had: Mushroom soup...good. But could be a little thicker. German potato salad...very good. Red sauerkraut...delicious. Schnitzel Cordon Bleu...wonderful. Cabbage rolls...cabbage way over cooked and stuffing bland. Bread and mustards...great! Go for the food not the ambience. Overall for us yum-yum; we are definitely going back.

A fun place to go to for some German food. The owners are super nice and offer very friendly service. This place is kind of different in that it operates as a small European (German mainly) grocery store and restaurant. When we went we had the dinner entrée of schnitzel, red kraut, and radish/cucumber salad and a german bologna sandwich combo. The dinner entree was delicious. Great flavor. The schnitzel was tender and fried just right. The red kraut was not overpowering and was actually kind of smooth for a sauerkraut. Great complement to the meat. The radish/cucumber salad was good. The bologna sandwich with german potato salad looked a little underwhelming, but delivered on taste. The bologna used was wonderfully tasty. The potato salad was elegantly simple and good. Definitely more of a home made-like quality than a store bought type. I would definitely like to try out some of the other dinner entrees and deli meats. The dinner entrees change daily. The deli meats consist of different bolognas, liverwursts, headcheese, and hams. There is a nice selection of sausages (polish, brats, bludbrats, and wieners). They get their meats from a German butcher in Phoenix. The bread there is imported from Europe. I am not so sure why. It certainly tastes fresher than I would expect a bread to be that has been imported from half way around the world. I am definitely eager to go back and try the different deli meats, entrees, and salads.

Good stuff here at Steiners deli the potato salad is amazing!

We had their brockwurst and bratwurst sandwichs with beef goulash and spratzel excellent, the only issue was there wasn't enough beef in the goulash ( owner said it was at the bottom of the pot) still the goulash was very tasty. Didn't know you could have the red potato heated and it would take on a vinegar tastes like my mom and Aunt made. Recommend it along with the Das bratwurst Haus on Madison at 2nd St

  • M G.

The friendliness of the staff did not quite make up for the coldness of the food, which would have been quite good had it been served hot. The red cabbage was excellent, and the schnitzel would have been much tastier had it been served hotter. My spaetzle noodles were colder than room temperature! I believe that serving the food on heated plates would solve this problem to some degree. The portions were very generous. Not sure whether I would go back, as I prefer my food hot!

Love this cute little deli, great european meat selection. I grew up in the SF bay area and remember going to Saags when they did retail and was introduced to all the wursts. Steiner's fills the bill for my wurst's fix.

My fiance and I went here on a Saturday around lunch time and the atmosphere was great and we also enjoyed the German music playing in the restaurant. Like the other reviews said, the staff is very VERY friendly!! Also, our food was terrific and when we received our order they gave us 5 plus German mustards to try with our meal. We had a great experience here and we will definitely be going back :o)

I have eaten here several times for lunch. I am a little confused by their menu, but they are very good about helping me out. This is a place where you can share a dish because the servings are so large. If you are looking for a high end dinning experience this is not a place for you. If you are looking for a great dinning experience in cute surrounding with no frills then this is a place for you. I don't know a lot about German food, but I do know what I like. Local folks.

  • John M.

Tried this place for the first time tonight. I should start by saying I've eaten too much German food, seeing as I lived there for several years. Cute little place with some grocery items for sale including German mustard-senf. The bratwurst were quite good, brochten-German bread- not hard on the outside like they should be. The bomb is the red potato salad; very good. Not expensive, only 8 dollars for a combo. A good place overall, will be back for sure.

  • Jennifer H.

Fantastic sandwiches and bomb ass red kraut! Great ambience too, very cute decor. Service was great too. The sandwich meats are outrageously delicious. Recommend the coarse liverwurst and leberkase (veal and pork combo with a bologna texture). You can tell the meats are homemade, holy cow. They sell fun German food goods too!

    (5)
  • C. H.

Had the bratwurst (try 6 or 9) whatever it was, it was interesting. Most were good and the liverwurst was also very good. I would definitely try this place if you are looking for good German food. The ambience leaves a little to be desired. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Very nice quiet little German Market. They had a store type set up and large wood benches for eating lunch inside. This place is great to get stuff to take home and cook and they are super friendly!

Went for a lunch special a couple weeks ago. I had their bratwurst. It came with the brat, Sauerkraut, potato salad and soda for $10. It was all good. But I wouldn't go back to spend $10 for meal like that.

Hands down the best food in this town. Home made deliciousness in a sea of chain restaurants. Family owned and operated, met the owner once and they are actually from Germany. Food is delicious and authentic, always fresh with a lot of options to choose from. I like rueladen, the sides are delicious and staff is always friendly and helpful! love love love this place!

Wow! As a frequent traveller I rely heavily upon Yelp to steer me to the best places. Thanks Yelpers! Yet again you steered me correctly, and conveniently, since this is right near my hotel. Had the schnitzel cordon bleu - it was great! Nice cut of pork, fresh sliced ham. But it was the Spatzele noodles that got me most excited! My german great Grandmom used to make these for me and i never knew what they where. So, four stars (i save five stars for good food with great atmosphere, and this place leaves a bit to be desired for atmosphere) . Made a weary traveller a little happier with thoughts of my ancestors.

  • Claudia H.

Stopped here on our way from San Diego. Service was friendly but extremely slow, even though the restaurant was not especially busy. Food did not come out all at once and parts of the order were forgotten and never came out, even after a reminder. Disappointed that kids' plates were adult-sized and no sides are included in the price. The soups were good but lukewarm. Sandwiches and schnitzel were delicious. Maybe the chef needed extra help today in the kitchen (after the holiday).

  • Larry B.

The place was slow, dirty and the food taste old. Sorry but was really a big disappointment. Maybe they make everything up on Friday and tomarrow well be better. The cook took food out of the hot oil and patted it with a paper towel to get the oil off. Not good

Stopped in for lunch after reading yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. Large selection of brats and sandwiches but I wanted to try the sauerbraten with red cabbage and spaetzel. I had a long wait for my lunch but I watched them busy filling take out orders, big ones too, and it seems like the wait is part of the process here. (I am a New Yorker so I am used to a faster pace also). Everyone was nice and friendly and the portions were large, too much for lunch. The sauerbraten was fork tender, good gravy and very tasty red cabbage. Very good lunch

I travel to Yuma quite frequently for work and Usually stay at the hotel right next door. I eat here on average 2 out of the 4 nights I'm there. The spicy Bockwurst(German style) is amazing, as are the cabbage rolls & goulash stew. I've never had a bad meal there. As in other reviews the atmosphere isn't all that exciting but the staff is very friendly and make it enjoyable. The market portion offers some great choices as well at fair prices. I'm currently enjoying the spicy Bockwurst so if you'll excuse me I'll be going now.

  • Brian K.

Food was good, but it took them 15 minutes to make a ham sandwich. Hmm. They also have a nice deli and cooler for to go items. If you're down for German food and can deal without the service, check it out.

I've been here a couple of times for lunch. I enjoyed the potato salad, Leberkase sandwich, and the beef goulash soup. The staff is very friendly. 10% hospital and military discount.

Finally got around to trying out Steiners and was very pleased! The food was superb, the young lady that served us was very pleasant and very knowledgeable about the menu items. Waited too long to eat here but will be back. Sandwiches, potatoe salad combos were great!

  • Michael M.

I went in to check out this new little restaurant and the first thing I noticed was how friendly the staff was, greeting me and offering any assistance on selecting from their menu (as I am not familiar with this German fare). I ended up taking some of their cucumber salad, potato salad and some of the black forrest ham with me to go. Man is that black forrest ham tasty! Great smokey flavor... I ended up using the ham in a meal I made called Malibu Chicken... I can't wait to go back and try them out for some of their prepared food...the schnitzel and their brats look like it's pretty good stuff.

I was on a business trip in Yuma AZ and happened to eat at both places that day and my review is accurate! I just started using Yelp and as a German I preferred the food at the other restaurant as it was way more authentic! I do not appreciate you accusing me of writing a fake review and I am more than happy to have Yelp contact me in regards to this issue!

  • Del O.

Cute little eatery. We went in pretty late so there was no one around and we had the place to ourselves. The staff was friendly and helpful. We ordered a couple of plates and they were slightly on the pricier side. However, when we got our meals we were not disappointed. Great flavor and large portions made it worth the price. In my opinion, they are much better than the other place in town that serves German food. We will definitely be going back.

    (4)
  • Felicia P.

Solidly pleased every time we eat here. Everyone is friendly and the food is awesome. Can't go wrong with the Jaeger Schnitzel or any of their bratwurst. We stop every single time we're driving through Yuma.

  • Dan N.

A very good selection--try the sandwiches and brats especially! Unfortunately, the wait for food can be LONG (the one thing I wish they would change), but it's usually surprisingly good. Have the potato salad hot--definitely. And it's BYOB, so do so. The atmosphere is nice and welcoming to larger groups at the center tables, as well as sitting off alone.

  • Lori S.

My entire family likes Steiner's - we always get two huge meals to share between three of us. The side salads (new potato, german potato, red slaw, + more) are all great. They have an amazing deal with their homemade soups, too - you can try a small sampler for some fantastic price.... maybe $1.50? And don't get me started on their desserts.... too good to be true. Cute decor, attentive and well-trained staff. We'll keep going back.

Great find in this hot desert town. The brat and bean soup is very tasty. I then ordered the brat sandwich. Very friendly staff and a great place to cool off and relax.

The food on Facebook looked nothing like what we were served!! I'm sure all that food was staged to look better for Facebook. Just like the burger commercials on TV. Any way...I'm just stating fact.

I have been to Steiners twice the first time and the last time food was terrible service was nonexistent we will not be back
