Cute, interesting little place. The food is excellent. Much better than you would expect from the outside of the building. Kind of an alternative style feel to the place. Only downside was it took an hour for our order of seafood gumbo to be served. No one else around us seemed to be waiting that long. Will go back again the next time we are in Yuma.

Came here on our way to Hidden Shores. Thankfully they are dog friendly! The food is amazing! I had the drunkin cod and it was fantastic! Hubby had the pesto shrimp and he said it was really good. Highly recommend of you're in the yuma area, especially if you have your pup with you.

Cant believe we found a trendy restaurant with Vegan options in Yuma! Great wines and craft beers too. Nice patio outside too and great, friendly staff.

Our first time in Yuma. We chose this restaurant based on high star ranking & positive reviews. We were disappointed because in a good restaurant the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. But here, the whole was less than the sum of its parts. That is, the individual components of the dining experience did not come together in a satisfying way. The service was decent, the food uneven, the prices high and the decor confusing and not integrated.

This is the best restaurant we have in Yuma. Graet food, service and atmosphere

Super friiendly staff, tasty food. A nice place to stop when traveling. We appreciate the staff staying later and taking us after the end of lunch. My son liked the chicken Alfredo, I had the shrimp coconut curry and my husband had the burger.

Husband and I went for the first time to try something different in town. Our server was very nice but somewhat inexperienced. We each ordered a fish dish. It took forever. Mine came out looking very brown. I've never seen salmon brown before and the pasta it was on was like someone dumped salt all over it at the end. It was horrible. The fish itself was the consistency of cat food. All mushy and in pasty like pieces. It was supposed to be filet. His was totally over cooked and was chewy like jerky. We did something we never do!! We sent it back, nicely. Even our server commented that it didn't look right. We ordered different dishes and she was very apologetic about the whole thing. His new dish was better and mine was completely inedible. Maybe we came on a bad night or maybe the chef/cook was having a bad day but for the money, over 75.00, we were not happy. The owner, as per our server, never came by and never even got up from the table were she was seated to address the issue. I have never complained about a meal before let alone posted a detailed review but I was shocked. I'm usually the type that tips regardless of bad service because I feel bad for the server when it's clearly a kitchen issue. We paid, tipped her well for her trouble but will not go back.

So i try this place again and I could honestly say this place is horrible. The fish was dry and it smelled so bad. The steak we ordered it well done and it came out rare. Honestly save your money and go somewhere else, any place else.

After this trip (tonight) to River City grill I was highly disappointed. First off, we sat at our table for over twenty minutes before asking to have our server sent over... about ten minutes later they finally took our drink and appetizer order. The service through the whole meal was painstakingly slow (other than water and bread service, which were great). One person in our group had ordered fish and it came out completely undercooked and cold in the center. When we asked for our checks we again waited at least twenty minutes before having to ask again. The food that was cooked properly was very very good, but probably not good enough to make up for the severe lack of service. My three star rating is an average of my two visits.

The ambiance and food here are great. A little hole in the wall place in an old section of town, don't let that deter you! I had the cilantro pesto alfredo with honey mustard crusted chicken and it was DELICIOUS! Also had bread with olive oil appetizer and a martini, all were excellent! About $18/plate so it's not really cheap but a neat little place with tasty food. Try it! I will be back!

They have the best food if you are looking for fine, fresh dining. They have excellent service and great taste. It is a bit on the expensive side, though. I think it is the best restaurant in Yuma of you are looking for great service, great taste and great dessert.

Fanciest restaurant in Yuma! The outside is deceiving but inside it's a very pleasant atmosphere. The crab and salmon cakes were made with imitation crab but still tasty. It came with a side of Asian salad-- next time I'll ask for no bean sprouts. The coconut shrimp soup was different, though it was delicious. I love the bread served with balsamic vinaigrette and oil, and they were sure to come around occasionally to offer more. The ahi tuna was awesome, but I needed soy sauce. The NY steak came medium when ordered medium rare, but they assured us that the order was input incorrectly, took it back, brought a perfect medium rare steak and even provided a complimentary dessert of our choice. We ordered the chocolate torte with vanilla ice cream and it was rich. Overall this place is a great spot for a special date night and I'll definitely return to try something else on the menu.

Came here on the way to San Diego, it was definitely worth the stop. The service was great and so was the food. Their halibut was some one of the best seafood entrees I've had in a while. Would dine here again

This is my third time here and every time I am blown away with the food!! Tonight I had the pistachio crusted salmon with ravioli it was so good. This was also the second time Michelle was our server so sweet so personable and so helpful! I love this place the food is so amazing and the people are so kind.

Wow! The only place you can find clear, marked vegan options in Yuma. I appreciate this menu so much. The service, food and ambience are always consistently enjoyable. I love supporting local businesses that stray away from the typical "chain restaurant" menu.

This place has an excellent menu. Between Indian curry, shrimp phad thai, and the beef fillet I had a tough time choosing. The employees are super friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this place.

Halibut was delicious, wild rice chicken soup - GREAT, bread was fresh/warm. Friendly/superb service by all the staff, very attentive. Definitely will come again.

This was such a wonderful surprise! Our favorite 'date night' place was closed (Jack and Rosies), so we gave this one a try. Everything was delicious. I had the halibut and my husband had the steak. The service was impeccable. This is definitely being added to our regular list.

I have to be honest when I first saw this place I almost drove right by it. The location may leave a bit to be desired and the dirt lot parking lot is a bit rustic but once I got inside and had my first meal I realized that this is the BEST restaurant in Yuma hands down. I always take my business clients and out of town guests here. The service is awesome, the menu is very unique and the food is DELICIOUS! If you go between November and April ask to sit on the patio. It's a beautiful peaceful spot. If you like fish, try the mustard crusted halibut. Amazing! I've had great lunches and dinners there. Try it. You won't be disappointed !

Complete surprise. I have not been to Yuma for years and was travel through for work. Looked at several yelp options and decided on River City. Found it and was a little concerned based on the neighborhood. We pushed past and thought we would just look inside, that was all it took. We were greated nicely and asked if we want to eat outside. Beautiful day, sure. Patio was very nice and there were several other diners but it was quiet. Menu was very nice and included food from local farms. Still suspicious of how good could it be in Yuma I tried the chicken wrap and salad with curiosity. It was outstanding. The salad was so fresh I think they went to the garden and picked it all. The tomatoes were almost as fresh as those that come from my garden. The wrap was very big. I ate half and brought the rest home. My wife agreed it was some spectacular. Do not miss this place if you are in Yuma and the prices for lunch are very reasonable for the quality.

What kind of food is there in Yuma? Applebees, Jack in the Box, and some Mexican joints, mostly. River City Grill looks to be a little different. It's of the more modern joints in the area, though I use "modern" very loosely here. It's an American restaurant with a number of food items from other cuisines, but not a lot of fusion going on. THE GIST: Excellent clam chowder / Good bread / Meh pasta FOOD HIGHLIGHTS: Bruschetta Caprese: Pretty good. They don't try anything fancy with it. The bread is crispy, yet soft enough to be edible without making a mess. Ingredients seemed fresh. Clam Chowder: This was my first clam chowder in Yuma and damn, I was impressed. It was comparable to some of the ones I've had in San Francisco. Sufficiently creamy and quite clam-heavy. Recommended. Mustard Crusted Salmon with Penne al Pesto: Given how good their bread and appetizers were, I was pretty disappointed with this dish. The salmon was overcooked and the pasta was very reminiscent of the big pots of meh-tasting pasta I used to make to start the week in undergrad. CONCLUSION They were off to a good start with the appetizers, but I wasn't very impressed with my entree. Given the limited options we have in Yuma, I'd probably bring someone here if they visited me, but I'm far from becoming a regular here.

Great atmosphere out on the patio. Upscale menu with great selection of fish and chicken. The food was delicious. Great service. Loved it.. Coffee is in huge cups and strong if you like it that way it will be perfect for you.

This is a great find. Fresh, delicious, interesting, exotic food right in the middle of the desert! Full bar and lots of wine choices too. The large painting on the wall is odd but adds character I guess. It is a surprising and nice little gem in Yuma.

My husband and I went there last Saturday for our anniversary. We sat inside, it has a great atmosphere and wonderful service. Very prompt and attentive. My husband ordered the steak, it was the BEST steak we have had in Yuma by far and delicious mashed potatoes. Outshines those "steakhouses" here by a long shot!! I ordered the pistachio crusted chicken, excellent flavor and the black beans with veggies were a perfect combo. All entrees include a soup or a fancy salad. Yumm! This is such a wonderful little gem in Yuma. We will definitely be back and its going to be "our spot" for as long as we live in Yuma! Great job!

In my humble opinion one of the best restaurants in Yuma. Their fusion style menu is outstanding!

I wish I could do three and a half stars. Another reviewer mentioned 'above the Yuma average', and they hit the nail on the head. We stopped here on a drive from San Diego to Tucson and wanted a nice, sit down dinner to take a break and relax a bit. It was a slow Monday night with around 15 other people in the restaurant while we were there. It's a nice looking restaurant in a transformed house with a charming interior and lovely patio. Since it was a little more formal than I expected, I double checked with a server that it wouldn't take more than 30 minutes to get our food. Our server was very sweet and we had a nice conversation, but she was slow to put in our food order in and forgot several things throughout the evening. After 30 minutes waiting to get our entrees, we did mention we needed to head out soon and she was very apologetic and rushed our food out to us. The food was ok, definitely better than the couple places I have been to in Yuma, but not spectacular. I'm not sure it was worth the rather expensive price. My seafood fettuccine had an odd mix of vegetables in the pasta (whole green beans, carrot slices, squash) and my scallops were overdone, but it was pretty good. Unfortunately it did not have any of the salmon or halibut advertised in it and the only crab in it were two, tiny, snow crab legs. The prawns were a little over done and dry in the other dish, but the lobster ravioli with the curry sauce was phenomenal. They should make that its own dish. All in all it was a decent meal, but slower and more expensive than I would have liked. That being said, I think I may have enjoyed this restaurant immensely if I was staying in Yuma and had a group to spend a long evening chatting and drinking some wine, but its definitely not for those stopping in on their way somewhere else.

WORST.SERVICE.EVER!!!!!!!!!!! We sat for over 15 minutes being ignored. We had a party of four. After the hostess sat us down we did not see anyone for over 15 minutes. Our waiter spent most of the next 1 1/2 hours at the bar on his cell phone and not checking on us. Our food was served cold. I would not recommend going here to anyone. A total disappointment.

LOCATION & PARKING: it is located in the Northern older part of town, which is good for the business owner, lower overhead. The parking area is a dirt parking lot across the street from the restaurant, but it is better than having to park on the street. FOOD: I ordered the Coconut Curried Shrimp off of the lunch menu. With the entrees, they offer a medium portion of soup or salad for a reduced price of $3. I ordered the Spinach Salad, I loved everything about it, all the way down to the dressing. The shrimp was plump and fresh, the curry sauce was spicy (not too much) and delicious, the vegetables were a nice mix and were cooked just right. LUNCH MENU: We ordered off the lunch menu, as they do have a few different dishes here at prices approximately 30% less than the dinner menu (as show in the menu pictures). The lunch portion are smaller than the dinner potions, which is still "great" for the price! SERVICE: We were greeted, seated, and served with our menus immediately. Our Food Server, Sara, was polite, helpful, timely, informed, and went above and beyond. My entree came with a fresh half coconut in the shell, which I wanted to have for dessert. My server actually offered to ask the cook to remove it from the shell for me (since I was struggling with it)! That was really nice. ATMOSPHERE: You can see the structure is an older building from the outside, but once you walk in, the very large painting on the wall the well lit bar, and our server made it feel very welcoming. The restaurant seats approximately 36 at tables & 8-10 at the bar at the indoor seating portion, which is nice during the summer. The restaurant offers plenty of outdoor seating, which is lit up in the evenings during winter months, that can serve to be very romantic. CONCLUSION: The food is fresh, the staff is willing to please, simply ask. The sauces are tasty and different. The salad dressings are pleasing. I understand everything is in house!! This is definitely a must try restaurant.

Thank you Yelp reviews for helping us to choose Rivercity Grill. It was a few miles from Interstate 8, but worth the drive. The atmosphere and service was excellent. Pricing moderate. Dinner outstanding! I highly recommend visiting Rivercity Grill.

Yuma, especially around the shopping mall, is dominated by chain restaurants that in the end are depressing. Downtown Yuma is the place to go for good food and River City Grill is in my opinion the best of the restaurant options. We have had small to large groups and the restaurant was able to handle our business without a fuss.

Great choice as we drove through on our way home to San Diego! They have an outdoor patio which they allowed us to bring our dog. The Tequila Snapper and Scallops and Prawns were delicious! Had the creme brûlée which was just ok. We will definitely stop here on our next way through!

Cute place but seems out of place in Yuma. Had the Mustard crusted halibut . Fish was a little over cooked but very tasty. Skip the key lime tho. It's frozen. Service was good. Not busy on Wednesday night. When I arrived there were two other tables with people. No one else came in while I was there and I think when I left at 7:15 they locked the door behind me. It's a shame they are not busier. Hate to see Yuma lose a good restaurant.

I was surprised to find this place in Yuma. I am from a big city. This place is very quaint and friendly. The food is excellent! The price....well...its higher than I was expecting. My only serious complaint is that I spent $5 for a coke...my wife's drink is $7.50 which was reasonable for an alcoholic beverage, but seriously $5 for a coke? That's just gouging a bit. The selection of seafood and chicken plates are amazing, the salmon and crab cakes were amazing, especially with the peanut sauce. The presentation of the food was perfect. I would consider changing the crab in shells and just shell the crab for the plates. I don't really like getting my hands dirty when eating a sit down meal like this. Minor issues really. But perhaps the prices were just a tad higher than expected. Although, when I plan to go to a "steakhouse" I'll spend the same. We had an appetizer, two entrees, an alcoholic beverage, two cokes, and desert...total tab was $70. So generally speaking, not bad, but I'm still a bit miffed at the coke price. Staff was great! Oh, and the parking is the empty dirt lot across the street, in case you are curious! this is a little hidden gem in Yuma.

I was excited to finally try this restaurant and was looking forward to the experience. I was utterly disappointed and would not recommend it. In a very slow Friday evening the service was poor, the waitress was not interested. My spinach salad was fantastic! The Mustard Encrusted Halibut was awful! I asked what the restaurant was known for and this was the recommendation... Clearly this was a bad night for the chef yet the waitress never asked how my dinner was and I clearly had one bite and a second was not going to happen. The server assistant asked it I would like it boxed up and my response was definitely not. To his credit he did come back and ask if something was wrong and let me know the manager would come check on us. 20 minutes later I left not speaking to the manger and will never be back again. One star is too much.

The chicken tikka masala was fantastic. The salmon crab cakes were not so good. A friend and I split both for lunch. The tikka masala sauce was rich and flavorful and the pineapple, peanuts, yogurt sauce and rice added a nice combination of additional flavors and texture. I was a little apprehensive to order the cakes as I was afraid the salmon would be the only discernible flavor and it would overpower what was a likely small amount of crab. This was unfortunately the case and I wouldn't recommend them unless you're looking for more so just salmon cakes. The sauce on top and salad were nice but overall I wish we had tried something different from the cakes. The iced tea was delicious. I will be back the next time I'm in Yuma. The atmosphere, service and overall menu make this one of the better restaurants in the area. Four stars and I look forward to my next trip!

A wonderful oasis in the desert. The food was flavorful, prepared with care, and sourced from local farmers. Delicious desserts. Lovely decor and service. Great vegetarian options as well. I highly recommend this cafe to anyone.

Great atmosphere and food. Unique location with a huge patio and good food. Sat at the bar and had a really good herb crusted chicken. Very tiny area behind the bar so I had to talk a lot with the staff. Normally would annoy me, but they were great, friendly, and easy on the eyes. HUGE selection of hooch too.

After reading many reviews here on Yelp we really were curious about this place. As one can see we actually hand out 5 stars. It's a cosy and beautiful place, great music is played in the background (!), yes, it's actually background music - one is able to talk to each other, that alone would be worth star #6 ;) We ordered the rack of lamb, a semi rare dish really and we totally enjoyed it. Service was very helpful and very friendly. Wonderful small but good and reasonable priced wine selection too. After spending one week in Yuma, this place so far is our favorite. Go there, you shall not regret it!

Had the Jamaican jerk chicken. It was pretty tasty though lacked some spice. I like the setting. It's quaint and cute. I read a lot of the reviews and was hesitant to come due to the concerns over service. While my service wasn't horrible it did leave a little to be desired. Are they perpetually understaffed? Had the service been a little better I would have kicked it up to 4 maybe 5 stars.

This is one of the best restaurants in town. The food is top quality and portion sizes are generous, worth the prices. Servers are knowledgable and experienced. This is always a safe bet for a good meal out.

Highly recommend the Blackened Chicken Caesar salad. It's to die for. Chicken is moist with the right amount of Cajun spice and the caesar dressing is housemade fresh! Never disappointed although they could update their parking lot to make it more convenient. They have a nice selection of food but it's a bit pricey for Yuma.

My daughters, husband and I LOVED the food, and were very pleased with our dining experience. Our server was very sweet and attentive. We truly enjoyed her cheerful demeanor. We sat outside where birds could be heard chirping among the trees. I've seen other reviews where they state that the service was slow. I would have to disagree. I felt happy that we weren't being rushed to leave, and could enjoy our meal in peace. I ordered the Bouillabaisse soup, Caesar salad, tropical iced tea and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was delicious! This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. The owner even came out to greet us. If you are in town, please stop by. You will be glad you did.

I find it very interesting that a restaurant labeled as being "New American" food has Vietnamese spring rolls, chicken tikka masala, thai sweet and sour soup, etc etc. Don't get me wrong, I really love the ethnic diversity of food they offer here, but it just wasn't what I expected. Food: 1) Thai sweet and sour soup: I think this is their take on Tom Yum Soup. I liked it, it was light, sweet and sour, just as they promised. It was a good starter to open up your palate and stimulate your appetite. 2) Vietnamese spring rolls: had to get them, it's practically on everyone's yelp review. Everyone loved them, I'm not in love with them, I don't hate them, but they weren't as amazing as everyone said. I felt like the roll itself was fine. I just think they over did it with the peanut sauce. Aside from tasting a little too thick, like they just watered down peanut butter, there was also too much of it, kinda overwhelmed your palate, making you lose the taste of the roll itself. 3) complimentary bread: it came warmed up! Nice touch! I liked the hard crust but the soft interior. Pretty good FREE bread here. 4) Ahi Tuna: I might just be a little too picky but it wasn't seared perfectly on all sides. It still tasted really good, but could use a little work in terms of the skill and execution. I liked the presentation of the dish, came out very beautiful with all the colors and the accompaniment of the greens on the side. 5) Gumbo: hearty stew. I've never actually had gumbo before, so I don't really know what to expect, I only have expectations based on what I've seen in pictures and on TV. Aside from it being a little too salty, it was pretty much what I expected it to taste like. *To whom it may concern: there is a vegetarian/vegan section of the menu Service: Very friendly and attentive to our needs. Their service was almost comparable to a high class fine dining restaurant. Very professional and welcoming. Ambiance: From the outside it doesn't look like much at all. In fact, it looks like a semi-ghetto residential area. A small sign helps you confirm that you've found the restaurant. I was almost a little concerned that someone was going to break into my car. The front door doesn't look like a front door of a restaurant at all, felt like I was opening the front door to someone's house and breaking in. Once you walk inside, it's dimly lite atmosphere creates a more romantic ambiance. It's soft lighting helps hide the modest tables/chairs. IT's very small but cozy. I sat along the wall where there was a booth like bench. They were very uncomfortable. From what I hear, the wooden chairs opposite the booth bench wasn't a parade to sit on either. You dine by candle light here. There is a big mural on one side of the wall and decorate Indian-like patchwork on the other side. There's a small bar area, where there is a glaring microwave elevated above some counter space right in the middle of everything near the bar. Maybe not the best thing to so blatantly display a microwave in the open. Not giving the best message. But overall, I enjoyed the romantic ambiance here. It was a nice place to relax and enjoy a dinner. Price: For how much we paid, I didn't feel like the food was really up to par. Maybe if it was cheaper then I'd feel like it was worth it. For the price we paid, in a bigger city, I feel like we could have gotten a better meal. The service and ambiance wasn't bad though. Overall: Nice place to try but I don't like I'll be going back.

I had a bad experience starting with the bread! They bring one price out at a time and if you ask for a second it takes ten minutes so they should just have a basket of bread instead of just paying someone to hand it out. I was eating with a dinner of 9 people and we got soup or salad the Asian and the chaser both had very blan dressing. 5/8 had bad door the salmon was overdone the jumalia was grose and the Thai pati was horrible and the Indian curry had no curry. Then the service was bad we only complained about the Thai pati and the rude waitress out up an argument. I was thoroughly disappointed with the second best restraunt in Yuma. Also it was a rip off. Over all I wish I could rate this place with 0 stars....I do not recommend that anyone eats at this restraunt.

I'm giving this four stars on a relative scale. If you are planning to eat in Yuma, or needing to eat a civilized, relaxed sit-down lunch or dinner somewhere in the six-hour drive between San Diego and Tucson or Phoenix, this is one of your best options. If you live in Yuma, and want a nice classy or intimate dinner out, also a perfect choice. While others may disagree, I appreciated the eclectic menu options, many of them strangely juxtaposed, but all with health in mind. Several things made my experience excellent: A) They have a dog-friendly patio, and it's spacious. B) They have vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. I should also note that this would also be a relaxed setting in which to imbibe an evening glass (or bottle) of wine.

This restaurant is great! My husband and I were stopping in Yuma to check out historical sites. So glad we saved the best for last. Our dinner was delicious. My husband loved the Gumbo soup and I enjoyed the cheese and spinach ravioli that laid over three different sauces!!!! Soooo good. Our waitress Michele was very attentive to us and our girls. A gentleman who worked there was very helpful in recommending a drink for my husband. Customer service is great and food is delicious. You can't beat it.

All I can say is.......this pace is great! This is probably my fifth time to RCG and unlike some of the other posters....I found the service fantastic....actually friendly!! And the food was just as good. I had a customer with me who, upon taking his first bite of his steak said under his breath....."wow!". I figure you can't get much better than that! We actually sat outside as the small area inside was pretty full. Mind you...it is mid January, but, our server fired up the heaters and we had the best able in the house!! If your into the chain restaurant......this place "ain't" for you. If you want to support a true, local independent restaurant....this s it!

Kind of amazed that this place is making a go of it in a backwater town like Yuma. Especially at these prices. That said, the food was quite good. The service was friendly and helpful. The decor is right out of side-street Santa Fe or Taos. And at $4 for a nice Hood River beer, we didn't feel abused. This isn't the place for big eaters though, if you catch my drift. The portions are merely adequate. Although the nice server did bring us an extra piece of the excellent, crusty bread upon request.

My first time: It was a slow Monday night and the service matched. After asking the host and server about their favorites, I settled on the tomato bisque and seared wasabi Ahi. While the presentation was very nice and the Ahi was cooked perfectly, the taste for both was mediocre. As a friend who is a traveling regular stated, "it's above the Yuma average" and I would have to agree. Hoping to be surprised, I will give it another try the next time I am in town.

We are moving from oceanside ca to wilmington nc...our precious furbabies are used to a cool coastal climate. We were driving thru az in a car with no air conditioning on august 29...I heard the temp was 111 so clearly it was not a good situatiin for the pups! So I searched bringfideo.com for a pet friendly restaurant to take them. We found river city grill...a bit off the beaten path but truly a hidden sanctuary for nearly heatstruck travelers. The closed sign was on but they opened their doors to us and treated us and our babies like honored guests! We grabbed a light lunch and it was delicious! And the prices were outstanding! Spexial thanks to Reuben for staying with us til we were fed, hydrated and cool again. I wholehearredly rexommend this little gem!

Hands down my favorite American restaurant in yuma. The ambience is great and the food is spectacular. I love bringing people here. It's never a let down..

The location is a little odd and there doesn't seem to be anything in the way of parking, but holy cow this place was a wonderful surprise. The atmosphere is really neat and service was very friendly. The hummus was excellent; clearly made fresh and full of flavor. Unlike most places, they didn't give a disproportionate serving of hummus and charge for more pita bread. The Mediterranean salad was great as a side with my dish. I had the blackened chicken with fettuccini alfredo; it was stellar. The chicken had a lot of flavor and seasoning that blended beautifully with the alfredo. My girlfriend ordered the spinach and ricotta stuffed ravioli and thought it was amazing. We are new to Yuma and were floored to find someplace that handily beats most of the restaurants we've eaten at in Tempe. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for great food and great vibe.

this is one of those totally expected dining experiences. when a place is highly rated on both Yelp and TA, you know it has to be good! i have gone through Yuma many many times but never knew this place existed (thank you Yelp). i have to say this is an absolute new favorite! between all the chain restaurants and the totally overdone Mexican food places, this restaurant is a true diamond in the rough. i had the blacked salmon and it was excellent. dont pass this place up!

I picked this spot off Yelp when looking for a place for dinner during a drive from Phoenix to San Diego. I had a Mediterranean salad with blackened chicken, and Vietnamese spring rolls. The salad was pretty good, with nice, fresh greens, although the spring rolls weren't quite as expected -- not rolled very tight and mostly lettuce. My iced tea was delicious, but the accompanying orange slice was withered. My coworker had the tomato bisque, crab cakes, and caprese salad, although what she was served was actually bruschetta, not caprese. It was odd. The crab cakes were also a little funny, not the Baltimore style I'm accustomed to. But we were hungry so didn't care too much, although we did care about the extremely slow service, despite the restaurant not being terribly busy. It also was bizarre that the maître d' assumed that my coworker was my girlfriend and we were there on a romantic date (not a roadtrip pitstop). Maybe there are a lot of lesbians in Yuma? Who the heck knows...

The food is very good and the service was awesome. only complaint is that I sat at the bar and a small tv with the football game on would have been great

Ordered a kobe cheeseburger-cooked to medium . Got a patty that was almost burnt, was dry, and clearly frozen before cooking. Others ordered food that only had appetizer portions like 2-3 raviolis for a ravioli dish. Portions too small and food was below mediocre for the price requested. I think McDonald's makes a better burger. The wrap did look good though and those that ordered it said it was good and had a kick. I'll give them that. I'd avoid unless they make changes or if you are there, stick with the wrap, its the one thing they do right.

I was a little dismayed by the neighborhood when we pulled up, but the restaurant itself has a nice little outdoor patio which was very pleasant. The tap water had a very strong unpleasant taste; when we mentioned it to our waitress, she offered us bottled water at no charge and apologized profusely. Very nice of her. Hopefully management will put in a filtering system for their water--the bigger concern is that they are washing and cooking with this water. The spring rolls were delicious! The hot and sour soup was actually more of a seafood soup with shrimp and mussels--also very tasty. The herbed chicken with mustard sauce was really tasty; the blackened tofu wasn't really blackened, just had some spicy seasoning on it. It was good, though. The pasta that accompanied the chicken was good, there was just way too much of it. Our server, Claudia, was excellent! She was very nice and attentive even though they were busy. Thank you! Our busboy was very nice as well.

The ambience on the patio is delightful. The service was attentive and very pleasant. As to the food...WOW! Imaginative, beautifully presented, and delicious. The prices are quite reasonable for the very high quality.

This is the desert rose in Yuma. I use Yelp to find quality restaurants as I travel for work and like GOOD food. Chains are fine as a back up, but local quality is my preference. If you live here or are just passing through, take the time to stop. Some of the best crab cakes I have had. Worth the price and more...

Traveling through Yuma on the way to Tucson. Found this jewel on Yelp, since the Vietnamese spring rolls were so highly recommended we tried them first. They were AMAZING! All of the food was incredibly fresh and flavor spice combinations were pure artistry. Perfect little stop, you won't be disappointed.

The last time I was here it was wonderful. I was heading to San Diego with a gf and we stopped.. She was vegan and we really enjoyed ourselves. Unfortunately, not consistent .... Had a dry halibut this time :( the vegetables were nice and pasta too.. I did share with the bartender and she still charged for everything, even dessert... She might have offered to comp this, due to poor fish temperature on a $27 over cooked dinner.

A very good restaurant with an eclectic international vibe. For a restaurant of original creations, the pricing is very moderate. [A typical lunch meal is under $15]. The service is decent and the food is good. A good place to come and enjoy time with friends and loved ones.

We recently had some oot guests roll in, and they wanted our suggestion of a good place for an enjoyable dinner - we're Yuma newbies ourselves, but we gave them 3 options and they chose this one - not a warm night, so we opted to eat inside, instead of one of the delightful outdoor patios - I love that the owners decided to save the old worn floor of years ago in their decor (reminds me of going to our small town hardware store as a farm lad some 60 years ago) - I also love their wall decor. Don't like the giant first step down (or up) at the front door - that needs some attention, before one of the oldies goes out headfirst. Food wise, we all very much liked our various choices - I picked the pistachio crusted salmon, but first I asked our server if the kitchen would do it really rare - she said, 'they'll it any way you wish', so I told her I'd love it quickly seared on the outside, and as rare as they could make it inside (frankly, I'd just as soon eat good salmon raw!). When eating salmon out, this is my usual request to my server, but never have I then received it on the plate as perfectly cooked to my request as was this one! Simply delightful - loved every bite - and this dish is served over a very nice black bean sauce, and a well paired pico de gallo, as well as three nice raviolis with cheese filling - a beautiful dish. As we perused the menu, I wondered just how good the salmon would prove to be, since they had at least 5 salmon preparations, and not one was priced higher than $23. I'm from the Pacific Northwest, where salmon is generally a common menu item, but nowhere in a restaurant of this caliber do I remember it costing less - or being this impressive. Our guests seemed equally impressed, judging from the repeated 'ummms' heard during the meal - we also enjoyed a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon blanc ($22), and a California Zinfandel (about the same price) - these were both quite enjoyable and good dinner wines, and we were again impressed at the reasonable prices! OK, let me now share a few not so good impressions: * very small pieces of excellent artisan bread served individually (took way too long for our 'bread server' to reappear) * wine glasses were of inferior quality to the rest of the environment and experience * simply was too dark at our table to read the menu comfortably - one of our guests had a tiny flashlight, which we passed around, but I needed a few more 'lighted' minutes to absorb the menu details But overall, we were overjoyed to find a restaurant of this quality (and reasonable price level) in Yuma, where such a place is not well supported. We intend to return many times before we leave for home - and we'll try to send as many other like minded food lovers as we can too.

I just finished my meal of blackened chicken with fettuccini Alfredo and I must say that it was ok, but nothing special. I had planned on ordering desert but based on the entree I'm going to pass. I was pretty disappointed in the menu - only 1 steak choice, lots of seafood options though. The Caesar salad was good but the croutons were badly burned. There is a nice outdoor dining area. Not bad but not great.

I live in Yuma, and have been dining at River City Grill for the last 7 years. Their Mustard Crusted Halibut, Mustard Crusted Salmon, Kobe Burger, Cesar Salad, River Wrap,Tomato Bisque, and Key Lime Pie are amongst mine and my husband's favorite. My favorite drinks are their Toscola Chianti, Lemon Drop Martinis, Proseco, and tea for lunch. The environment is very unique, and I typically prefer outdoor seating if the weather permits. I cook and travel a lot so I have tried and made a lot of dishes. I believe they have some of the best entrees to offer and well worth the price. I do think their prices are actually that high compared, but I guess it does depend on where you are used to dining. I believe they have their Halibut flown in regularly, and their salads have many ingredients from local growers. I believe this restaraunt is a gem in dust storm.

River City Grill has a very eclectic feel to it: an old building that is more like a house with a wooden door and floors that creek, random mirrors on a wall, classy place-settings, and a diverse menu which includes local and "international cuisine." The surrounding neighborhood is on the ghetto side. The meal prices average around $20 per plate. All meals come with a choice of one of four salads. I had the Seafood Linguine Alfredo - the sauce was tasty, but it was a bit soupy. I had to request extra bread to absorb the liquid a bit. The mussels were also a bit overcooked. I also tasted the Indian Curry, which was not very good. I've admittedly been spoiled with great Indian food in my life, but must confess that this curry didn't taste very authentic. Perhaps the curry was tailored toward someone not familiar with Indian spices. The Mozzarella Caprese appetizer was also fair and the Vietnamese Spring Rolls looked pretty good. My conclusion is that the food is fair in taste, but of good quality ingredients. It's a bit overpriced for the area and the atmosphere is a bit lacking (no soft music playing, feels like a renovated house-restaurant... not like a typical big-city restaurant). The service was also fair. I can imagine that some Yumans really like River City Grill because it offers a unique, eclectic menu.... but for someone who has the expectations of fine-dining in a metropolitan area, I think that is where the extra-ordinariness ends.

Bottom line: Very good food and service at a moderately expensive, trendy, hole in the wall restaurant. I would suggest the Vietnamese Spring rolls and Encrusted Halibut. My wife and I just moved to Yuma and were looking for a romantic evening out. We checked yelp for highly rated places and went here for dinner. The wait staff were very responsive and pleasant. We were given the option to sit inside or out; we chose inside and were seated immediately. In the future if the weather is nice, I would highly suggest outside. For an appetizer, we had Vietnamese Spring rolls - very good. A unique mix of mint, spicy peanut sauce, and mango. For the main course, my wife had the Encrusted Halibut which was very good. I had the Blackened Salmon - ok, but not great. For desert we shared the Creme Brulee - Mango, Mint, and Creme Brulee were an awesome end to our meal! The reason for 4 stars is because the price for our evening was higher than I expected. I guess to get a good dinning experience in Yuma, you have to pay a little more than you might expect.

This is such a special place in Yuma, AZ. In a town with many restaurants, this one stands out as a great local one of a kind place. The salmon on the menu is wild caught coho, not some farmed atlantic salmon like you would find elsewhere. The greens in the salad are fresh and the service is just fantastic. We come here every tuesday, but on this particular day it was my birthday and they made me feel special, like a friend of the family. There are no better restaurants in this town in my opinion, which is why I asked my wife to take me here on my birthday. The food is always good and the wine is very good and not marked up to crazy levels like competitors often do. This is where we take people from out of town. There are more expensive and fancier places, but none better in this town. If you are tired of the typical big box store fare but do not want to take out a second mortgage to dine out, then this is your place. Trust me, you will not be sorry you went to River City Grill.

I enjoy using Yelp when I travel to find places. In town on a work mission, my coworkers and I decided that we wanted something other than the hotel restaurant. The River City Grill was near the hotel, on the hotel's restaurant list and had a few positive reviews on Yelp. I felt it was a safe bet. The eclectic decor foreshadowed the menu. A mix of Vietnamese, Thai, Indian, Italian and American style dishes. The decor and menu show uncertainty as to what they are really going for with this place. It is Yuma, its like they are trying to fill every ethnic niche not represented in restaurant options. Ok...so lets see if they can pull it off... It took us a bit to decide. Some of my coworkers were wondering what I got them into. Two finally decided on the Kobe burger one ordered it traditional the other blue with bacon. Only offered on the lunch menu the chef agreed to prepare them burgers for $2 more. Uhh ok? Another coworker ordered halibut crusted with something and I ordered curry shrimp. Each dish was served with a dinner portion of our choice of their salads (spinach, Mediterranean, Asian and Cesar). Every one enjoyed their salad choice. With each of us getting one each of the different options. I had the spinach salad, which gave me high hopes for the main entree after tasting a quality fresh raspberry vinaigrette on my salad. This was the last high note of my meal. We finished our salads and WAAAAAAITED. Now not the ordinary nice restaurant wait. This was the kind of wait that made you wonder, more than slightly annoyed. I had read another review about the wait but we were only a party of 4 and it wasn't THAT busy. Before they brought out the meals they informed one of my coworkers that they didn't have bacon for his burger. Boo! No bacon.....c'mon! We FINALLY got our food. The poor guys were so hungry they didn't care to ask for anything to put on their burger (mayo etc). My other coworker with the halibut was enjoying her meal. I was pretty disappointed but hungry. Mushy long grain white rice, covered with a mix of zucchini, peppers and a few green beans, old shrimp and a questionable curry "gravy" on the side was a mango/ginger "chutney" and pineapple. The curry meh, the "chutney" made it a bit more tolerable and the pineapple.....canned and almost spoiled. Luckily it was served in a pile on the side so it was easily removed from the plate. *shiver* I ate the veggies and the shrimp.... I should have eaten at the hotel restaurant.

Don't waste your money, food was awful. My husband ordered med well steak and it was well done, over cooked. The grilled vegetables were not grilled. The place is well over priced. Salad was old.

This place was pretty good. We had lunch with mango iced tea which was good but had to wait a long time for refills and the place was not crowded, but the waitress was very nice, just not "johnny on the spot". Also, I didn't realize they had a beautiful outside eating area we didn't know about until after we were served. We heard the waitress offer the outside to subsequent customers...now we know. We each had a spinach salad and split the Kobe burger. The spinach salad was tasty but small for six dollars each and the salad leaves were huge. The Kobe burger was delicious. We asked for it rare and baby it was rare! Big thick piece of bacon and plenty of bleu cheese with grilled onions. My husband and I are big eaters and we were satisfied when we left. For two small salads, split a burger and 2 iced teas it was 25 bucks. Not outrageous, but like I said, if the salad had been a bit larger and had used baby spinach I would have been a bit happier. But overall good food, good ambience and we will go back for dinner!

What's with all the hating going on here? Sure, it's in the hood, but once you step inside it's like you're somewhere in Europe. A "diamond in the rough" as someone else put it. The menu variety is fantastic and the presentation is always nice. Seriously, the cook could compete on 'Hell's Kitchen'

I love River City Grill. It's a small little place, especially in the winter time when you don't want to sit outside. The decor is cute and they have a pretty good wine selection. The staff are very friendly, all the food is grea, seriously everything I've triedt, with really beautiful presentation. I agree, it's definitely "a diamond in the rough." Note: if you take a group larger than 6 it will take a while, but it is worth it.

I travel to Yuma every other week from Tucson and I'm always looking for something different. Away from the mall and the chains. I found Rivercity through Yelp and went on a Wednesday night. Very impressed. They have a decent beer menu and the food menu has a HUGE selection. I ordered Pad Thai. While it didn't taste exactly like Pad Thai, it DID taste very good. Maybe they could change the name to "almost Pad Thai". Either way it was good. The Tomatoe Bisque is awesome btw and I would go back just for that. Service was above average for Yuma.

Very nice place, we ate there for lunch, the butter crusted salmon on Pesto pasta was outstanding; however, the bouliase (sp) base had vegetable and not enough seafood. The service was great, decor outstanding

I don't like to review a place if I have only been there once but this place was talked up so much I feel I must share my experience. I got one of my favorite food dishes, Pad Thai, the noodles were dry and crunchy in some areas and it was a weird flavor. But the worst part about it was the shrimp were not properly cleaned. On my first bite I ate poop. Now I don't like eating poop and it made me feel kind of sick once I realized that I had eaten poop. I didn't want to send it back because we were in a big group so I just ate around the poop. For dessert I got the cheese cake. I love cheese cake and hate it when it is still partially frozen like this one was. And it just tasted cheap. I should have just gone to Fry's and picked one up on the way home. So in the end overpriced fair quality food in a crowded little house in the hood. Bathrooms were clean though, but could use a remodel.

I'm from Michigan, here in Yuma on a business trip. River City on Friday night was pretty good. I had the Coconut Curry Rice dish and it was pretty decent. Tofu was cooked excellently with it. Coworker had the ahi tuna dish and thought it was good. Definitely seemed like a good place with lots of wine choices and decent bottled beer. Prices are a little on the high side (for this guy at least), 17-20 for dinner, but I will likely come here again. It has an indie, electic atmosphere. Service was not particularly quick even though it wasn't all that busy, but that's just how places like this seem to work.

  • Phacops T.

1/2011 This place is small and cozy. You would never think of it being a high quality restaurant by seeing it from the outside... it looks more like a small cafe. My favorite is the Mustard Crusted Halibut with Spinach Ravioli in a Light Cream Sauce with an Asian Spinach salad. A winner! Very good and I will always go back to the River City Grill when I am in Yuma.

This is far and away my favorite place to eat when visiting Yuma. It is probably the only place in town where you can get a true gourmet meal. They have an amazingly diverse menu where everything is so interesting it is hard to decide what to order. Don't worry because based upon my experience, everything is delicious. This restaurant would be a standout even in larger cities--truly a hidden gem in Yuma.

  • Gastrotravele R.

The restaurant's homepage belies what a gem it is! I have been feeling a bit deprived in Yuma and was in need of a good meal. The food at River City was good (I had seafood stew) and my waitress was able to point out dairy-free options very readily. Even better, though, was the service and the general feel of the place. I initially sat at the bar and had 6 servers ask if I needed anything. When I asked to switch to a table, "of course, no problem!" and I really didn't feel like it was. They were attentive without being annoying and I really enjoyed just sitting back and watching people relax. All in all a great night!

Excellent food, could easily be the best restaurant in Yuma. Was walkable from my hotel, but I'm not sure I'd suggest it. I had the seafood gumbo which was quite large, and really spicy. Excellent, but it left my lips tingling for awhile after my meal. If you're in Yuma for a few days and want a nicer meal check this place out. The halibut looked great, and so did the pistachio encrusted items. The member of my group that ordered the rib-eye thought it was excellent.

My gf took me here for dinner. I live in San Diego and she works in Yuma 3 days a week and so we are exploring the town. Heard about this place. Food was excellent and the service was even better. We will be back for sure.

Nice little place with a spciaous outdoor patio. My party of 4 all enjoyed their entrees. Bread was very tasty. Service was prompt and good. My major dissapointment were the crab cake/salmon appetizers (and the cat that was hanging out on the patio). This was krab not crab which was drowned in some nut flavored sauce. It just wasn't good. Besides that, I enjoyed the experience and would return. I guess my quest to find a quality crab cake in Yuma continues.

The food here is outstanding!! Truely the place to go for fine food and great dining experience. It falls short of 5 stars due to the slow service. While the wait staff was excellent and friendly, there was not enough staff to provide5 star service. I will be back! I recommend you dine here.

Great Restaurant - atmosphere was casual but easy to have a romantic night with. We ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai, tomato soup, coconut chicken curry, caesar salad, amaretto mousse, and sweet potato pecan pie. Soup was great - full of flavor. The caesar salad was bland and could of been skipped. Both entree's were wonderful - full of flavor and not overwhelmingly spicy. Pie was good, mousse was fine. Overall, the food was great and the ambience was easy for conversation.

True, this is probably one of the best restaurants in Yuma. Then again, that's like putting an 8th grader in a kindergarten classroom and saying they're one of the smartest kids in the class. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, great, maybe even amazing. I haven't been in a couple of years, but the cook that used to be there was amazing. If its still anything close to that good, I'm sure you're gonna like it. The building is not in the nicest part of town. Its about a block north of Yuma High School on 3rd St. I think Taco Tech is down the street. I would almost call River City a diamond in the rough. The restaurant is cute and the out door seating is pretty nice on a cool evening. Seating inside can be a little close quarters for some, but the food more than makes up for that. Dress is semi-casual too. You don't need to be dressed up to eat here, though I wouldn't go in gym clothes. Its a good restaurant. Try it on a week night (non-holiday) so that it won't be so busy. Oh, and try the mojito's. I hear they're awesome and they're made with fresh mint.

Wish we had this restaurant in Tucson! Small, trendy decor, delicious food with good vegetarian and vegan choices. Limited but good wine choices. I loved the mussels in thai curry and the shrimp pad Thai had lots of shrimp --although the noodles were served over rice. It would be a regular hang out if we lived in Yuma. Totally unexpected here!

Gotta give them full credit for the healthy food, interesting menu, and reasonable prices. Didn't expect something this nice in Yuma. Our waitress was great as well. Nice to find a number of vegetarian/vegan choices as well. We travel through once a year or so. Will return to this place.

One of the best restaurants in town. Always a great meal with friendly service. Small inside seating area but several large shaded patios that are even enjoyable in the summer. Seafood is the specialty and the sea prawns with lobster ravioli is one of the best meals I've had at any restaurant in any city.

  • My point of view. D.

Being from a large city and being exposed to many options of "Fine Dineing" I could easily say this place would be like some hole in the wall dive you can find in Beverly Hills. So for Yuma I can see where the locals would give it the ooh la la label. Food is good, service can be better, atmosphere is nice. Again all this in relativity to what Yuma has to offer.

Upon arrival we were seated promptly which is always nice when you have a reservation and it's Valentine's Day, BUT!! My experience here overall was terrible and I might have even transformed into the Hulk last night. I ordered the caesar salad with mustard crusted halibut over spinach and ricotta ravioli with a lemonade. The lemonade and salad were yummy but after waiting for well over an hour our entree had still not arrived.. I'm usually quite patient when it comes to waiting for my food but the service at this restaurant was ridiculous.. Everyone is unattentive and doing their own thing.. Extremely unprofessional! As great as the food looked I was not willing to sit through another minute waiting for something that may or may not arrive. After a good 70 minutes I stopped the hostess and told her that this was absolutely ridiculous and that we're leaving. So we ended up walking out of the restaurant and headed over to IN N OUT the only place that did not require a reservation and promises a great meal for a great deal and service with a smile. Three of my favorite things! Probably the only time I will ever wear a formal dress to a fast food joint [: But anyway, the moral of my review is to inform you that you should NOT eat at River City Grill.

Accidently found this place. Drove in from San Diego for no reason. My girl and I saw this place. Meal was excellent, the service was equal to the delicous meal. A variety of options not often seen in one menu. Will be back if I ever visit Yuma again.

Excellent dining experience. I gave it 5 stars because all four of us raved about our meals. I had the mustard crusted halibut. The halibut was cooked perfectly and lay on a bed of spinach filled ravioli along with some brocolli, sting beans and red peppers in an Alfredo sauce--a delicious and original combination. We dined on the covered patio on linen tablecloths. We were served by a very efficient and friendly person.

Loved this place! The neighborhood is a bit ghetto, but its nice on the patio in the evening with the sun going down in late October. I had the gumbo and it was excellent, really spicy, but I love spicy food. My husband had the halibut and it was really good. The service was great. Looking forward to my next meal.

  • Ellamenope Q.

Excellant food! Horrible service. Not the fault of the waiters, though. They just haven't been trained properly. A menu like this, priced as such, requires a level of service that you just won't find here. Nice caprese salads, wonderful and diverse wine selection. This place is for a lingering meal. They bring you plates of bread and little ramekins of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Get an appetizer. Split a dessert after your entree. I love that there is a selection of 4 different salad types that come with the entree.
