So Good! I love this place! The food is so good. Perfectly cooked and with just the right amount of spice and flavor. The Cadillac Margaritas are huge and very yummy, too. I love their fresh salsa. It is perfect. You have to try their skirt steak and chili relleno combo. Make sure you order your chili relleno traditional style (no meat). They make the best I have ever tasted! When I am in Yuma visiting my parents, I make them take me here so I can buy us dinner. The service can be a bit slow, but I am usually not in a hurry when I come here to eat. They also have another location in Old Yuma. That location is very small. If you want to be seated quickly, go to this location.

Came here with my fiance and her grandparents. Great food and vibe. They have couple TVs so you can watch sports while eating if you must. Service is good. The biria and chile verde were so delicious! Must try if you're in Yuma! I do everytime we come down here.

Food: 1) Chips and salsa: I LOVE the salsa here!! SO GOOD!! It's SO MUCH BETTER than the Chili Pepper salsa (which is just TOMATO WATER!). The salsa here is exactly what you would expect traditional, authentic, FRESH salsa to be like! The chips were a little too hard for my taste but the salsa definitely made up for it! 2) Beef stew soup: comes with rice, beans and tortillas. The beef was SO tender! The clear broth soup was very flavorful! There was corn (which was SUPER SWEET and FLAVORFUL), squash and carrots in this soup! It was tasty! The rice, beans and corn tortilla was also a great compliment to the soup! I was wrapping up the beef in the corn tortillas and eating them like a taco! Soup and tacos for the price of ONE :) Service: VERY SLOW! I came here during my lunch hour and it took SO LONG for the food to come I was about to just ask for it to go since it was sucking up my lunch hour just sitting there WAITING for the food. And when the food FINALLY came, I had to scarf it down because I had to get back to work. I didn't really have time to enjoy the meal or eat all of it. You would also think that since it took so long for them to get our food out they would actually remember to bring us everything, but when the food came, we were missing our tortillas and the waitress wasn't even aware of that. We had to ask for it and the waitress even questioned us "Are you sure I didn't bring it already?"....uh...no. I think this place is probably super unorganized in the kitchen. I mean, come on, how long does it take to scoop soup (that is probably already made) into a bowl and serve it with the rice/beans/tortillas? Why did it take over 30mins to do that?? I don't get it. And when you serve the food, how did you forget part of our meal?? And then ask us if we were sure we didn't receive it? The service needs improvement! Ambiance: Heavy Mexican decor but wasn't too tacky or overdone. I liked the vibe the place was giving off. Very cool place to chill and have some Mexican food. Price: We had the lunch special for $6.99 and it was very worth it for the amount of food that we were given! Overall: I would totally come again, but ONLY when I have MORE time to wait for the food and enjoy it!

Mi Rancho is a great place to go as a group, order a huge burrito covered in red sauce and convince yourself you have the stomach to try and finish it. Ha! We like to order their ceviche, since they make it with a high amount of authenticity. The chips and salsa are always great... but be careful, I find it can be a little spicier than most and you can end up burning your tongue! Word to the wise, if you are going on a date and you're looking to save a buck or two, one person can order water and the other person can order soda and there should be plenty of that soda to split between the both of you because the drink cups are huge. I would say the atmosphere is pleasantly full of Mexican kitsch but that's a great thing when you want a food-fueled experience. The service staff are always extremely accommodating and kind and the wait time for food is usually quite quick. This place offers great quality food at a decent price... You really need to check it out, I would say it has earned its place as a Mexican food staple near the border.

We stop at this great little family owned Mexican place either going to or coming back from Phoenix from San Diego. Great food my family loves but two issues to correct to get 5 stars. 1) I ordered a $14.99 sirloin streak and shrimp combo. Give more guacamole guys! A little tiny dab spread on iceberg gringo lettuce was only enough to put on 1 tortilla! 2) the men's toilet was leaking and the overall condition of the bathroom is horrible. Spend the money to remodel it,

A bit on the expensive side for the quality of food. Service was slow and they failed to follow up after food was served. They also failed to give corn tortillas as requested. Bacon wrapped shrimp were good. Shrimp were a fair size. The carne asada was a bit tough and not spiced to being very tasty. However, the lengua was very tasty and tender. Campechana was above average. Cozy place, normal decor. Will visit again for one last chance.

This restaurant was the best part of the year the Marine Corps forced my husband to Yuma. The food is fantastic, I especially liked the chicken flautas and my husband loved the carnitas. The yellow corn chips and accompanying salsa are amazing. After trying a few other restaurants this was the only Mexican food we would eat in Yuma. In my opinion it's the best restaurant in Yuma.

Horrible service will never come back to this place. Our server brought our food and never came back to check on us I had to get up and find her to ask for refills. After she came back she had a horrible attitude she made me us feel like I was an inconvenience.

Food was ok. Wouldn't recommend a Long Island tea hear. Expensive and mostly soda no liquor. Big portions but so was the bill. I come back if was in area but wouldn't go out my way for this

Very good food; however, the service is the worst I've experience. I've very good, good, average, bad, worse, and "Mi Ranchito's service" If Mi Ranchito's manager takes his/her job seriously, I expect a response in order to make the call to your restaurant to speak with directly. If don't received response, I would know the type of manager and it will explain the type of management that implements at this restaurant.

Not good at all! We had a party of five. We were seated very quickly but that was the end of the fun. Took 30 minutes to get our food. Three orders were completely wrong. Good lacked flavor. It wasn't good at all. I will never go again. A big waste of time and money. I don't know how this place gets good reviews. How do you screw up 3 orders? Never did they try to apologize.

We were passing through Yuma whilst on a southwestern road trip. Found this place on Yelp and decided to check it out. It's kind of a little hole-in-the-wall, but also kind of awesome. We were hot and hungry and wanted some food and drinks... and that was definitely what we got. Everything was so cheap and so huge! We got giant margaritas that hit the spot and I got a huge chimichanga that was practically the size of my face, but it hit the spot. The staff was really friendly and the service was quick. We left full and happy. If we were ever passing through again, we'd probably go back!

This place is really good. The food is awesome and the restaurant itself is decorated with nice authentic Mexican attire.

Carne Asada burrito was pretty good! Great service, brewed iced tea and fresh chips and salsa made for a great meal.

Either it was a bad day or we just don't like the same food as other people. I love Mexican food and I'm from Calif. We have lots of choices and most are pretty good. This food was average or below. I won't go here again. I can cook better than this.

  • Jesal G.

A must try if in Yuma! The salsa is delicious as well as the rest of their food. They have beans without lard so that was a great find--its sometimes not so readily available. Next time I pass through Yuma, this will be my stop! Tip: Mix pinto beans with salsa

Mi Rancho serves whopping portions of some of the best Mexican food in town. Chances are, you'll leave satisfied and stuffed. The prices, service and atmosphere are all decent. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Yuma... and I've tried at least 95% of the others out there.

There were six of us for dinner and, although the place was crowded, they had no trouble getting us in quickly. They have an extensive menu of traditional as well as non-traditional Mexican fare. When was the last time you saw liver and onions as a Mexican specialty. They also had a goat dish on the menu. We all stuck with the more common choices, but all of the food was good. I had a chili colorado burrito and the red chili was excellent. Their salsa was OK, but a little lacking watery, the chips were thick and crispy. The service was also very good. The building looks smaller outside and the interior is divided up into several smaller rooms to provide for noise control. We were very happy with our choice, made in part by reference to previous Yelp reviews, and would likely go back again one day.

Not too great. There are better options in Yuma. I had a chevela ( beer and clamato) and was charged 6 dollars and it wasn't that good. The salsa tastes like it comes from the store and the rice was dry. Furthermore my order got messed up and the waitress argued with me over it. Anyway its a shame a place with this location isn't better.

One of my favorite Mexican stops in Yuma. Great salsa and the Al Pastor is great. I have never left dissatisfied. The service is great too.

Really good food. I like the customer services and the food was very good. I ordered a Carne Asada Plate and it was cook to perfection. I highly recommended this place.

It was okay. I was really disappointed because my buddy glorified this place as to having some awesome authentic Mexican food ,but turns out that I can cook better than these guys. This place would be better if they were to use higher quality ingredients, I mean their beans tasted like canned beans .... gross!

I love this restaurant. Its very reasonably priced and i visit everytime i'm staying in Yuma. Its a relaxed restaurant so you may need to ask for the check at the end or else they will just let you sit and enjoy the ambience. I much prefer this way as it doesnt rush you out the door. It would be a great place to take a date and have a relaxed meal where you will be left alone. I have had some lovely meals here.

I will start by saying the food is 4/5 stars. A great carne asada burrito, well priced, and authentic. Nice atmosphere, too. What kills this place is the very poor management. I always order a burrito to go and all three times they have forgot the sour cream. When you arrive to pick up your order there is absolutely NO sense of urgency to acknowledge you or get your food for you. The person managing, I assume, is the person behind the register who can BARELY even do this in reasonable time. I usually have to find a waitress to continually check on my order. Great burrito, though.

Stopped by there on my way to San Diego from Houston. It was Sat evening around 6:30pm and the place was busy. The back parking lot as well as the street was packed. However, I was seated right away. The restaurant was colorfully decorated with paintings of famous Hispanic singers. The overall atmosphere was nice and family oriented. I can see myself hanging out with girlfriends or family here. My waiter dropped off a big bowel of salsa and chips. I ordered fish taco, bean n cheese burrito with added jalapeno, and a soda. The soda came in, I kid you not, 24 oz cup. The salsa was delicious with a good kick. I probably filled myself up on it. :) The food took 20 minutes to come, but worth the wait. The fish taco was okay. The fish was flavored, lightly battered n fried to perfection. The lettuce, onion, tomatoes, cilantro could use a bit flavor though. I boxed the burrito for later... again... probably ate too much salsa n chips. the bill was around $8.50. Not bad at all especially since I'll have the burrito as a snack or breakfast.

Quality, authentic Mexican food. I got the Mucho Macho Burrito "christmas style" (red and green sauce) after a recommendation from a co-worker. Quality ingredients, actual shredded beef, no ground hamburger in this burrito! You will definitely have leftovers with this one.

My boyfriend and I stopped here on the way home from the sand dunes. It was recommended by a friend from here... Must say it was very delicious !! The chips and salsa are very yummy. My boyfriend got the red chili burrito which was great good red chili is hard to find!!

Very good food & large portions. Stopped in when we pulled into town cus they were one of the only places open after eight. I got a taco plate with barbacoa, it was enough food for 2, seasoned well, but a little dry. The tacos are big & 1 taco can be split in to two & still fills 2 tortillas. Also the service was really good & our dinner came out in less than 10 minutes.

As a resident of border towns most of my life and a lover of mexican food, this is one of my two fave mexican places in Yuma. They have some of the best salsa in town! Regarding Entrees, I really enjoy the carne asada dinner and Shrimp with garlic. My lovely wife thoroughly enjoys the ceviche, barbacoa and the caldo. Service is usually great for us, The servers are very personable and do a great job.

This is a hole in the wall type place that doesn't look like much, but don't let looks fool you, this place has top quality food an service. Give this place a try, you won't be disapointed.

Being between 10 to 45 minutes from the border (depending on which town you choose) you would think that the mexican food would be pretty good. Well you would be mistaken, as I was when I first moved to Yuma. Fortunately I found this place. This is the best Mexican restaurant in Yuma. I have had good food in Mexican restaurants in Yuma, but the consitstency, and or value where not there. The consistency with the service and quality of food never changes here. Birria, Carnitas, Pescado entero (whole fried fish) , shrimp cocktail, nachos, chilaquiles etc. All consistently delicious and fresh when it comes out. As for Mos D's review, queso fundido is just that, a block of cheese melted, sometimes with chorizo. It's not a dip, and definitely not for everyone, including me. And since nobody knows what you ordered, who knows if it's good or not, and East Coast mexican food would not be the foundation in which to base "good" Mexican food anyway.

We had a surprise party for my Gandmother's 80th birhtday at Mi Rancho this past weekend and a little under 40 people attended. My Aunt made the plans with Orlando, the owner. She had told him this would be a group of a little under 40 people, mostly ederly so not too much food was needed. He sold her on the "family dinner' which he said would feed 6-8 people, even elderly with smaller appetites. She decided it was best to start with 4 dinners and he said she could increase if more food was needed. Numerous phone calls and communication transpired between my Aunt and Orlando over a course of 6 months, she felt she had a very good rapport with him. We arrived to the restarant at 1pm for set-up, the party started at 2pm. While we were setting up they started bringing up all the pitchers of margaritas. Obviously, these pitchers of ritas will not sit well for an hour, so we had to ask them to take them all back. The waitresses were the sweetest, most helpful girls.... I will say they were wonderful. When my aunt was speaking with one of the waitresses they said they prepped 6 family dinners because "that's what Orlando told them to do". We were now stuck with 2 extra dinners. We figured "awww, can't be that much food" Then the food came out. I have never seen so much food in my LIFE. ONE dinner would feed 8 VERY hungry men.... One dinner was waaay too much food for 6-8 elderly people. We had so much food left over that my grandmother now has 8 gallon sized freezer bags full of meat in her freezer. This was way too much food and it was pretty much forced on us. We all felt a little ripped off about being over-sold on the food. We would have spend additional money on more pitchers of ritas... these people are drinkers!!! My Aunt asked for Orlando to come out to say "hi", he never came out. Seems he is your best friend until he has your money. We spent almost a thousand bucks in this place and I don't think we will be going back for another large gathering. The food was good, the waitresses were wonderful but the owner needs to practice his ethics and customer service.

Some of the worst Mexican food I have ever had. I'm from the East Coast but my mother lives in Arizona. Every time I have been out west I always think I'll find some good Mexican food, but I'm always wrong. Especially in Arizona, for some reason it's just awful. This place especially. The Cheese Dip was literally a piece of microwaved cheese. Still in 1 big lump, grease had formed a pool around it, and they gave you chips that could not break through the coagulated blob of Queso Quorruption. The entrees were not the worst we have ever had, but certainly were nothing to write home about. Service was weak, slow, and inattentive. I won't go back.

In Yuma on business. Decided to have some authentic Mexican food for dinner. The hotel across the street said this was the best place in town and I was not disappointed. I had green chile and a chicken enchilada that were both delicious. Came with very good beans and rice. Place was busy for a week night. Huge margaritas too!

I have been going to this restaurant for more than 13 years and I have never encountered any negative experiences at all. I love this restaurant's environment; I adore the music in the background, the colors of the walls are nice, and I love some of the paintings they have. The best of all, the food. I can't stop ordering the enchiladas, I just love their taste. This restaurant has good drinks, and various great entrees. I am glad they have the chips and salsa while you wait for your food/drinks. The salsa is also very tasty. The staff has been real good so far.

Went to Mi Rancho with a group of people we're working with. Classic 'old school' Mexican restaurant like they all were growing up in the 70s/80s. Prices are very reasonable. I ordered the Chile Rellenos (stuffed with cheese - you can get beef or chicken if you prefer). They were very tasty and well prepared. Beans and rice just as you expect. Service was very good. If you're in Yuma, give Mi Rancho a try!

Dude. This place is amazing. We came here from out of town with our kids. We were greeted by a greeter who was less than thrilled to seat us. There were huge black tracks from dirt coming out of the air vents on the ceiling. I was cautiously open-minded however, after my husband had said it was good. Our server was super sweet and prompt, came to take our order before I could get through the menu, and was able to explain some dishes to me. She was also responsive when I ran out of water inhumanly fast; as soon as I did, she hurried over with a pitcher. I love that they serve giant glasses. The salsa was soo good. They roast it, use fresh cilantro - it's so good. It was a little hot for me, but it was so good I couldn't stop eating it, hence the inhumanly fast consumption stated above. The chips were freshly cooked and thick and crunchy. I ordered three folded chicken tacos with crunchy corn tortillas, also freshly cooked. The shredded chicken tacos had lettuce and tomatoes and were sprinkled with queso, delicious, white, crumbled, delicate, tasty, queso. It was probably the best chicken taco in my life, even though the chicken itself was pretty standard. It oozed a little grease from the fresh tortilla, but it left me scratching my head wondering how they got a chicken taco so good. The beans were like heavenly, smooth, creamy goodness. I made the mistake of trying them before my tacos, and ended up polishing them off, and then couldn't finish my last taco. The rice was fluffy and seasoned... Even the guac was good. This place is solid. Can't wait to come back. My only regret is that they are five hours from me. It's probably worth the drive.

Oh dear--yet another restaurant that acts like no one will notice if they cut corners. Wife ordered the #1 Combo. Beef taco and tamale. Both were soo incredibly bland! The combo came with one of the worst enchiladas ever! No flavor on anything--and it all tasted as if it had been cooked the previous week, and just reheated. The tamale insides was dry dry dry, and bland! The taco was completely tasteless. Come on people! Cooking from scratch need not be complicated, nor expensive. Every offering on every dish should stand on its own as something special. As it is now, Mi Rancho sit-down restaurant doesn't hold up to its local competitors, let alone places in other areas. Please folks--let's get back to the basics. Make a great sauce for enchiladas. Make a great fire-roasted salsa. Make the best side dishes ever. It's within your power.

What can I say - I've been in town for 5 nights and ate here twice! Shrimp and fish tacos are a-mazing! I suffer from Mexican food withdrawal - I might be "Ellie Mae" and live in the south but SoCal is my birthplace. I can't find Mexican food like this anywhere east of Arizona. I will be back every time I travel to Yuma!

The lunch specials are such a good deal. I had the green chili plate with rice and beans. The green chili is melt in your mouth good. The beans are creamy and the rice was zesty and moist. The flour tortillas on the side were delicious as well. All of this for $7.95. Good deal and great food.

This place is delicious. My wife got rolled tacos and I got the mucho macho burrito. The server claimed it was enormous as did the menu. She was really surprised I finished it. Not very often I am completely full at a restaurant. My wife really liked her food and was also very happy about the margarita. The server was very happy, helpful, and polite. It was very affordable as well. The only complaint I have would be the chips and salsa. The chips were decent but would be much better if they were served warm and the salsa didn't have much to it but spice (I'd say maybe 4-5 out of 10 hotness). Our favorite Mexican place in town so far.

  • Erica G.

The salsa was fantastic. Loved that it had spice that wasn't overpowering and it seemed fresh! Could have eaten that alone for a meal. The fish taco was fantastic with cabbage and a dressing. The lengua taco was so tender and I ended up using a little of the sauce from the fish taco on it. The al pastor taco was just ok but I didn't have anything to compare it to since that was my first time with al pastor style. Mixed with the tomatoes and onions and cilantro the tacos were satisfying and flavorful. So stuffed by the time I left but grateful a local suggested this location. Definitely better than hitting up a chain restaurant.

When I am in yuma, my friend from work and me, go into mi rancho at least twice a month. Busy on the weekends but plenty of parking in their lot or on the street. Usually get the flat steak with enchilada. My buddy usually gets the burrito with red and green sauce. Salsa is very good, but they have more bottles on the table for more variety. The place and servers are very authentic looking.

My husband and I love to eat here. The tacos are great, the frilled fish We have liked most everything we have ordered. I would like the refried beans more if they were hot or even somewhat warm

  • Mike B.

Great chips and salsa. Ordered the chile verde plate. Seems to me like it was a side order. About 7 small pieces. 3 of which were all fat. Wish the portion was a little bigger. So I also ordered a cheese enchilada. With green sauce. That was bomb.com . Review would of been 4 stars if I had the enchiladas only. 5 if there would of been draft beer.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
