Service is not great but food is soo good. My favorite burgers are from here. Would come back again. The restaurant has a funky look, but love all the props.

This is one wild place, a retired casino that is now a very large bar and restaurant with an outside seating room in the rear. It is filled with years of memorabilia, with many of the photos signed by the celebrities. There was a signed note on a Clark Cable photo. I went there with four Yuma natives and they just knew that I would love the place. Strange menu items like the Lutes Special - hot dog/cheese burger combination. My cousins husband ordered it and it did look good. He loved it. I can't remember what everyone else ordered but they all loved their dishes. I ordered the Machaca burrito and it was quite large for $5.69 and it was Filled to the brim with the tender shredded beef. Machaca is made from beef that has been well-cooked, shredded then cooked in its juices until the desired consistency is achieved. What a great lunch. I liked the place so much that I bought one of their t-shirts.

Lute's is fantastic. Any real Yuman knows that. Malts.. to die for! Hot dogs.. oh so good. I mean, walk in... don't expect a fancy shmancy restaurant. That is not what this is. Envelope yourself in the vibe.. it's a great one. You'll probably see a friend or two in there if you're from the area.

This place could really use a good dusting...all the junk on the walls is kind of gross. If you're expecting some quaint local dive, that is not what this is. Too much yelping - it's full of Baby Boomers of vacation. The burgers - better than McDonald's but not at good at Fuddruckers.

Sorry I don't like this place. Foods are all "greasy". I know this is very famous and popular place locally. If you want good food, try somewhere else. If you want to just experience what it is like, Please go ahead. Good place to LOOK AROUND.

Is this place worth the wait to get in? Sure it is, The food is good and greasy and the bloody marys are sweet. Service is a little slow cause there are so many people there, The inside has tons of cool paraphanalia from guests and the owners that drape the walls.

SO my buddy and I were on our way to Tempe from San Diego and we got a huge appetite right as we crossed the Arizona border. We were trying to go to a Chili's that to our dismay had yet to open so we asked some of the local desert folk where we could get a good burger. Well, she said, "You gotta go to Lute's, They have a hamburger and a hotdog ON THE SAME BUN!" Needless to say this is a hotspot of food euphoria. I challenge you to find something more creative and sincere.

I grew up on Lutes Especial, a hot dog and a hamburger are alright on their own, but something special happens at Lute's when they put the two together and add that little extra ingredient...L.O.V.E Love. Throw a little salsa and mustard on top of it and you have Emiril shouting BAM in your head. Then there's the potato tacos....ohhhh those crispy little rolled up, make your mouth water, slap your mama potato rolled tacos. Living in San Diego, you'll occasionally come across potato rolled tacos but they ruin them by over frying them and covering them with cheese and guacamole. But, Lute's gets them right, cover them with shredded cabbage and a slathering of a mayo and guessing sour cream mixture that escalates them leaps and bounds beyond all others. And if you're lucky enough to get there before they are sold out of it, treat yourself to their tri-tip sandwich because, it is DAMN TASTY! If you're going to be in Yuma do yourself a favor and skip the random chain restaurants that litter the town and experience a meal you'll look forward to having the next time you're in the area.

This is another place I must visit every time I'm in Yuma! I love this place's decor! There's all sort of creepy stuff in the walls and the ceiling that seems to have been there for ages! For me, it's like a really old saloon, like the ones they show in cartoons, and after a few fights, it ended up looking like that. The service is always nice and friendly and the tables are clean, I clear it up, the tables, hehe, some of the decorations look like they've never been cleaned, but that doesn't bother me, it's part of the charm, I guess. Potato tacos are delicious! They are covered in mayo, cabbage and cotija cheese and some tomatoes, there are a variety of sauces, but the unbranded salsa goes really well with the tacos. Honestly, I always go with the tacos, but I looked at the menu and they also have garden burgers and quesadillas for vegetarian options.

Iam a local and have eaten here for years and must say that today i was extremely disappointed all the way around. Bad service & horrible food. I always eat the potato tacos here and today i couldn't finish them they were disgusting. Hope they get back to ehat they used to be.

One star for service. Maybe it was because they were understaffed for the holidays or maybe it was the disorganized kitchen. After over 40 minutes of waiting and seeing four tables that came in well after us get served before us, we decided to leave. The kitchen wasn't plating orders, they were putting baskets and plates on a shelf and the servers picked through them on a first come first serve basis. Our waitress wasn't as tall as the waiters so they could see further back on the shelf and pick out food sooner, obviously grabbing ours in the process.

Most go!!! While visiting my retired parents in Yuma they were dying to take us to this old joint!!! The food was greasy and GREAT!!! So was the service. It was the kind of place you don't want to leave once you get there. It's old and dirty which makes it what it is. One of my favorite pubs in all of North America

When you visit Yuma, you need to stop by Lutes Casino. I love the place, but not because of the food. I love the place, because of it's unique qualities and décor. Do not go here for the food. You will be disappointed. Go here for the experience. They make changes once in a while. There was a picture of the Tumwater, WA brewery fountain on the wall, but somebody removed it. I grew up in Tumwater and liked to see the picture when I visited Lutes. Oh, well. C'est la vie. This place also gets pretty busy sometimes. I'm not sure why. The service is also hit-or-miss. I would only recommend ordering something simple like French fries and milkshakes. Everything else is average. In fact, I usually don't feel too well after I eat the food here. If you want a burger, just go to In & Out; then drive over to Lutes for a milkshake.

We decided to take our dog on his first weekend getaway. We arrived in Yuma so we can visit friends in a nearby town. But first we stopped off to have the Lute's Special. (hamburger-hot dog). We didn't want to leave Niles (my dog) in the car so we drove around back and saw that Lute's has an outside patio. Hubs stayed in the car and I went inside to ask the cashier if we can sit in the back patio with our dog. She was a young cute thing and just said as long as there is no other people out there I think it is okay. So then I asked if we can order here or out there. She talked to the waitress who then took a look at me and said .........."I will take the order and I will bring it out to them." me=Joyous!!!!! I went back outside and waved my hubs and pup in the patio. We were lucky the weather wasn't too hot and they had plenty of shade. We also notice that some good looking ladies seemed to gravitate to this place as well. Hubs like that! :) We had a lovely time and the waitress was absolutely as nice as pie. AND PIE IS NICE!!!! Just by doing this little gesture made our trip so much better.

This is a taste of old Yuma.... If you like to see new things and explore this is the place for you. I had to try the hamburger with a hotdog on it. It was pretty darn good. The place is pretty dirty and service is slow though. I would have rated this place great, but the bad service will kill ya.

Better than expected... But maybe it was the company! And the ambience. Shared the potato taco and had the burger on my own. Wonderful time...

Nice, old divey looking place. You can't really go wrong with a cheeseburger that has a chopped and grilled hot dog stuffed in it.

Ok, to be fair, I did not step foot in this bar. I was looking forward to going to this bar to watch a baseball game, have a few beers, and some cheap food. I read reviews on bars in Yuma and thought this may be a fun place to go. This was far too scary looking on the outside to even walk in. I parked and that was it. There were 5 grungy looking thugs all hanging out by the front door. They were filthy, disheveled, and I was scared just to get out of my car. The front door was filthy, it had numerous stickers all over the door, and just looked bad. The guys were surrounding the front door smoking, stared at me like they were going to jump me, and that was it. I can't critique the indoor atmosphere, the food, or drinks. After looking at the menu on-line, it looks super cheap and good. I've been to many dive bars in my time. I've walked through groups of bikers, cowboys, and skin heads.... but this, it just didn't feel right or safe. I've never not gone into a bar because of the outside appearance or the people, but I guess there's a first. They should at least clean up the trashy looking entrance. Something.

Wow, walking into Lutes was like stepping into a time capsule. Between the 60's music and the old-school decorations I felt like I was getting a glimpse of history. Lutes is formerly a casino and evolved into an American burger bar. For an appetizer I ordered the jalapeno poppers which were pretty decent. For dinner I had the potato tacos which were very good. The beer selection was weak but the bar doesn't seem to be their selling point. My only real complaint is that they aren't open any later. They have a pretty decent sized bar so I'm surprised that they don't try to draw in a later crowd. We went on a Saturday night and they were packing up and shutting down by 9:00. Either way, the staff here was exceptionally friendly. I would definitely be willing to return here on my next trip to Yuma.

  • P A.

The name is totally deceiving. For a person who relies on Yelp reviews I don't know how I missed the obvious signs that it was a restaurant. I had searched the word "casino" and went to the first place that popped up. If you're looking for a typical local hangout this is the place to go. I have to point out that it was pretty dirty. It was super packed when we went so the food must be pretty good or at least decent (we didn't try it) ? But then again it's Yuma and there aren't that many choices.

This is a must experience for great food and service. Been in Yuma for a long time. Great atmosphere with kool things to look at on this walls. History here.

Lutes is the kind of place that 70s and 80s restaurant chains tried to copy: glorified burger joint with crazy stuff on the walls and t-shirts for sale. All of those chains deserve a quick death. Lutes is an original, though, and the dusty bric-a-brac on the faded walls and ceiling -- look up to check out the deer head -- wasn't installed by a set designer. It's a very relaxing atmosphere that makes this one of Yuma's real destinations. My veggie burger and strawberry shake were much better than I expected. If I wasn't driving, I would've gladly liquored up here for the rest of the afternoon.

  • Dave W.

2 stars for the food and an extra star for all the random stuff hanging from the ceiling and the walls. Experience it once but I don't need to go back. Service was good. Might be different at night also as I just had lunch.

Food is good, not a big selection. The restaurant is everything "Restaurant Impossible" hates, tons of dust and dirt hanging overhead on the overload of decor. Old rickety mismatched furniture. Our second visit will be our last because there was such a horrible smell in the old place it was difficult to swallow the food, maybe a rare problem but one we can't forget. Bathrooms are a century later add-on and extremely dirty.

    (1)
  • Up S.

Great food! Don't let the randomness of the inside decor fool you. This place is all about great, simple food. I enjoy the chicken philly and the quesadilla! Have fun and enjoy you will not be disappointed!

It seems like a place a character played by Patrick Swayze would work. It's a must see but not a great place for pescetarians.

Great burger and even better atmosphere. A Yuma must stop. Right now live piano on a sllightly out of tune piano. sounds and feels lime a modern day saloon. Server was'nt the friendliest but it is crankin' in here. He's slammed and does not have time for pleasantries. The cood and atmosphere makes up for it by a long shot. Do hourself a favor and come here!

Wow... I knew I grew up when I was able to have a beer at Lute's! I grew up in the coolest little desert town you've never been to (Yuma) and Lute's is quintessential Yuma. Yuma is essentially best known as a prison town during Arizona's pre-statehood past; and Lute's may well have been around since then. The Mexican food you get in the desert is not like what you get in Atlanta or Boston; it's spicy and will burn a hole your cholo on exit, but damn is it good! Lute's is not really a Mexican restaurant but they do have great toquitos . Enjoy the next time you drive from Phoenix to San Diego.

The whole experience was a waste of time. It took a while before we were waited on. Then when the waiter finally came over and took our order for drinks he came back with our drinks and that's the last we saw of him for probably 15 minutes. By that time we were both finished with our drinks and still we were waiting for hem to take out order and to get another drink. I ordered a hamburger and asked about some mayonnaise and extra pickles when I received my hamburger they put a ton of mayonnaise on it and it was like I had a mayonnaise sandwich it was all over the paper that I was holding. They brought all of the food except the french fries. We were almost completely finished with our meal before they came back with the french fries and there were several families waiting on their fries as well. You would think I was waiting on a real hamburger but he came back with the frozen patty type. I can't believe it took that long to make that burger. We were all disappointed in our meal. I needed to go to the bathroom before I left and I had to ask one of the servers where is the restroom because there was no sign saying restrooms and she pointed go to the Betty Boop door. I went inside the bathroom but was very disgusting the stall doors were open and inside of the toilet was very disgusting they haven't been clean in a while and on the floor there was a commode brush just laying there. Disgusting. When you go in there take a look around and and you will see everything has a ton of dust on it. On our way out we saw the cooks and one of them was on his celler phone that's probably one of the reason why our food was all late.

This place is an Icon for downtown Yuma. If visiting, it is a must see! Interesting menu, decor and a fun place all around!

Lute's casino is a Yuma original... it's been there, oh, forever. The place is strange, but somehow endearing. I never could bring myself to eat the hamburger/.hot dog combo, but I was fascinated watching others eat it ( usually, they were boys, I'm just sayin'). This is where I learned to eat jalapeno poppers with my friends after work, with a cold beer, or a big drink. In Yuma my Latino friends dunked them in ketchup AND salsa. Something kinda awesome about that, or maybe that was the booze that made me see it that way. I never saw the front entrance until now, on the yelp photo... isn't that funny? I only ever thought there was a back door! Sweet.

What, can I say, it's a Yuma institution. You can't call yourself a local if you have not eaten here at least once. My pick for best Margaritas in town, drink with care- they are STRONG. Also, try their fries with the special red salsa, it's amazeballs!

It is ok just a hype we had the tri tip beef sandwich (not so good). Lutes Especial burger (ok) Nancy grilled chicken Breast ( (Awesome). Taste Burgers have better burgers.

This place is awesome because it is unique. A must see if you are in downtown Yuma. I think they are a little over priced though. Also, it is incredibly dusty in there. Someone should go over that whole place with some pledge and a feather duster.

First of all, it was once a casino around the early 1900's. So, the casino days are over here. Second of all, (as I post this) why does Lute's have more reviews than any place in Yuma? Well, it's an 'icon'.... of sorts. It could bring you back to feel what Yuma what might have been 50 years ago. As others have stated, there's some weird stuff on the walls (see my attached pics... looks like I'm the first to post pics of the interior). For instance, there was a piñata, a 4-foot long stuffed bass, and a manican-head covered with some kind of animal hide that featured one eyeball where the former anus once stood. Weird? Yes! Entertaining? Kind of. Anyways, the walls aren't really covered with stuff. In actuality, cob webs cover just as much of the wall-space as the other 'stuff.' The food? It was very average -- at best. I had the tri-tip and it was really bland. The prices (for a dive-bar) were nothing special. It was about $20 for two meals and two sodas. Long story short, if you want to go to a really weird, overpriced dive-bar, you found your spot. If not, just go to In-and-Out and get better (but similar) food for less!

  • mike r.

I gave it 3 stars because of its uniqueness and the historical factor. The food is just OK. I know a lot of people like the potato tacos, and they are good ...with the exception that they put mayo on them! Gross. I like that they offer a veggie burger even if it is just a frozen grocery store type patty. Stick with diner style food... burgers, fries, sandwiches and you should be OK. You should pass on their bean burrito and other mexican food IMO. Also, I have to say that the last visit we made to Lutes was interesting. We asked the waiter about what their patty melt consisted of and he didn't know. Then he asked us what usually comes on a patty melt, that is was probably the same. haha Ya, we decided to skip it and ordered something else. The waiter thought that was a wise decision.

Terrible, rude service. Greasy, typical bar food. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Way overpriced. Very noisy. Waited a long time for anyone to even acknowledge us. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because they have retro video games.

Where do I begin to describe Lute's Casino? I had the fortune of being taken for the first time with a long time Yuma resident who was able to give me a low down on it's history and quirky wait staff. The place was built in 1901 when Yuma was still called a territory and it looks old, as it should. It original purpose was a general store and hotel but it of course had a trap door that led to the basement where an illegal casino was located. In 1920 it became a pool hall and since it still has a pool table is considered the oldest operating pool hall in Arizona. The place has been collecting oddities from what looks like the day it opened and they adorn the walls, ceiling, and floor. Believe it or not there is even a waitress who works there in her 60's that started working there when she was 18!! As far as the food is concerned, its typical bar fare with "healthy" portions and cold drinks. If it's your first time and your not on a diet, try the "especial" which is a hamburger hot dog combo. Try it just to say you did if nothing else! I would give Lute's 6 stars if I could, its the type of place that is the embodiment of classic Americana.

We ate at Lutz Casino on Tuesday, we dined in the patio area. while the Lutz Special was tasty, $5.95 for a hamburger and then have to pay for French Fried is unacceptable. The Rolled Beef Tacos were really Taquitos (sp) and not tacos, little seasoning and no lettuce, onions or tomatoes. Not worth even the $.99 each one cost. The service was deplorable, each table got incomplete drink and food orders, those served first finished their meal before the rest of the order was delivered. Our waiter, got our order wrong, my wife finished her tacos before my burger arrived. The waiter brought French fried we did not order to use after I had finished my burger. I had to ask several times for my water and beer, then I was told the beer was no longer carried. Our bill was wrong. The decor is very nice but service and food are not worth your time

Good people watching, weird but fun atmosphere and having never before had potato tacos I would say these are mighty good. If you're in Yuma, why not, have a potato taco.

What a neat place! Fun, old-timey feel with piano music reminiscent of an 1800s saloon. The service is fast. The food is good but not great. One goes mainly for the ambiance. Definitely a must-do while in Yuma.

I have ate here in the past and the food was good. I just finished eating there and this place belongs on the TV show "Kitchen Nightmares". If u want to eat here, please look up as you walk in and look at the moose head hanging there and then notice the dust ball hanging off the moose. Everything is dirty in this place so I wonder what the kitchen looks like? I'll never come here again and the food was very greasy!!!! Waste of money!!!!!

I guess my rating is a little biased since I grew up going to Lute's. I love the downtown feel to begin with, with all the history. And just knowing I'm in a historical building excites me. To be honest, I only order one thing there, and it's the potato rolled tacos... I absolutely love how they put mayo, cabbage and the Mexican cheese (forgive me, I forgot what it was called... Cotija???) on it... So delicious! The onion rings aren't bad either. The atmosphere is a little odd, especially if you don't have an open mind... But that makes it even more exciting. The staff are usually very nice, and the service isn't too bad. The price for pool isn't bad either... Although, I think the same pool tables that are there are the same ones when I was 7, and I'm 26 now... LOL... Those tables are getting worn out. =)

Was not impressed... expected better cheeseburger was only a step above McDonalds. Very simple and basic, smallish patty and the bun was cold ... fries were ok, and bottle beer was... well bottled beer. Server was friendly, place is very funky... and not in the best way... doesn't feel or look clean...

The food was okay, service was great, but the place itself is a landmark and a museum. Will sure stop by again next time I drive thru Yuma.

Simply put, if you want an excellent burger and fries GO HERE. I bring anybody new to Yuma here for a culture shock and good food. I know everyone always says try the "special", but I'm a double cheeseburger fan myself. Super cold beer. You know what? I just talked myself into going there for lunch today.

If you like an old school atmosphere then you'd probably like this place. I found it a little strange. I'm fairly young so I felt a bit out of place surrounded by geriatrics. Had their special burgerdog w/bacon. It was pretty good, basically what you would expect. Service was friendly. They had a pianist with some old lady singing old tunes way off key..One table relocated themselves. I'm glad I checked it out and had the burger dog but Da Boyz is more my style.

Dude, there are few reasons why I look forward to going to Yuma. I mean, it's not really where I'd prefer to spend a 3 hour car drive getting to. And apparently the boyfriend dreads the inevitability of running into some person he used to know in this little town. But we both clap our hands and crinkle our eyes up like chibi characters when his dad asks us to Lute's casino. Potato. Rolled. Tacos. 'Nuff said. There are only 3 of them and they come completely buried in shredded cabbage, but they are so effing good that it's worth blowing whatever diet I happen to be on at the time. Now if only they had bigger portions.

  • Lety L.

Great place to hang out, lots of history, decent food, occasional entertainment, decent prices, & the only combo burger in town. It also has a nice secluded patio which is for special events. If nobody is using it, I believe it's ok to sit there but don't take my word for it.

  • Del O.

I usually go here before heading to Main Street for a flick. I usually get a burger and some fries. The food is good, but the service is usually slow. It takes awhile for someone to come over and help you once you pick a table to sit at. But they are nice and the food is decent. The decor is very interesting and I'm always seeing something new. They have posted and hung a bunch of pictures and other random stuff on the walls and from the ceiling. Interesting stuff. A landmark in Yuma so definitely worth checking out. Oh...the last time I went I noticed that they put a Yuma criminal with a cut out face out in the front near the steel bar doors. So now, you can take a cool little keepsake picture!

A crazy crazy place. It's a HUGE bar/restaurant with big huge things hung all over the place and off the ceiling. This place makes T.G.I. Friday's look like an empty doll house. The big deal here is the Hamburger/Hotdog sandwich. And yeah, I know what your thinking, but it's Fucking GOOD!!!! They slice open the hotdog and cut it in half flattening it enough to make a sandwich out of it. Seriously. It's good. When in Yuma ... you must try this at least once!

A must stop place in Yuma. best hamburger in town. Must try the LUTES SPECIAL. (hotdog hamburger) the flavors will explode in your mouth!
