It was across the street from where we stayed at the best western, which I recommend when staying in wickenburg. I had the prime rib which was cooked to perfection, it came with a baked tater also cooked to perfection and a side of carrots that were so sweet and accented the rib nicely. The place is nice and it was decorated in a western colonial fashion which I liked as well. And the best part, the bar stocks Crown Royal Reserve!

We celebrated my husband's birthday at the Gold Nugget. We enjoyed it very much. Both of us had the incredible onion soup and the Prime Rib dips. The prime rib was scrumptious as was the au jus. The staff and management were very friendly and attentive. They even sang Happy Birthday with a luscious slice of chocolate cake. Our only disappointment was that they served the sandwich on a hamburger bun instead of the menu stated French bread.

NOTE!!! This is NOT A REVIEW, but a request.I had to give 2Star (unable to give 2.5)rating to post not to harm or boost, not having ate there.(I've read biz owners will read reviews? If you the Owner, does&puts up a Menu? Let me know&I shall remove my "Review/Request")I a local for 18yrs and, disappointed with our local eateries! Sick of driving an hour (I'm 18mi out of Town), to Eat at all the places on Bell Rd. Many of our Local places we've tried years ago&never returned! Hated many were never OPENED for Dinner, unless it was "Snowbird Season"(Oct-April 1st). Those open year round were: Denny's or the 2/$$&$$$Country Club. Here's my request- Ikes Gold Nugget, please put your Menu w prices online w/Yelp. Nothing worse; the rare occasion of eating out&trying new place. Your seated to find, nothing in the Menu is appealing to you, or the prices are more than your Budget. Let's face it, Arizona is NOT ONLY an, retirement state. But, includes those who've moved here for Health Reasons(like myself). I'm permanently disabled, since age of 29 and, therefore receive Social Security. Being I was so young, I get very little in monthly payments. For I only worked&paid taxes; for less than 10yrs. I was a stay home mom for awhile too. So it's a very BIG DEAL&RARE TREAT; to afford the Luxury of Eating out 3-4 times a year. Sadly, I've not found a GREAT PLACE (besides usual standby: China Buffet), I can return to locally. Gas prices are keeping me home as is. I want to find the most AMAZING CHICKEN FRIED STEAK! That's not a performed patty, that's been breaded! I want the REAL STEAK! Real Country Gravey, over REAL Whipped Potatoes!, That doesn't have chunks of breakfast sausage, or polish sausage in it! I've been shocked when I've been served such&one place had both in it! It's the one meal that's a huge mess&takes a lot to make at home and, for one person! All restaurants need to list their Menus. Especially when it says "Carry Out" available! Thanks for reading. P.S. if you know where I can get amazing Chicken Fried Steak, I'm on Google+!!! Blessings, Peace&LOVE!

they only had 1 choice of pie and we were there early in the day. The crust was tough and undercooked. several items listed on the menu weren't available at all. okay food nothing special, good coffee though.

Very charming historical restaurant. Friendly service, uncrowded on a Tuesday evening. The dinners include soup or salad, vegetables, choice of potato, and fresh-baked rolls. I had the teriyaki chicken, which was mediocre but a generous portion. My boyfriend had the walleye and French onion soup; he said both were very good. We tried the carrot cake for dessert, but it was kind of tasteless. Our waitress Lori was very attentive.

I've eaten here twice now for lunch. The atmosphere is dated and in severe need of an update. The staff was friendly and prompt on both occasions. The first time I was here I had the prime rib sandwich. The beef was overcooked and the bun was soggy. The fries were frozen and dried out. The garnish however was fresh and tasty. The second time I had the cheeseburger. The patty was frozen preformed beef and was dry and tasteless. The bun wasn't toasted and was soggy. The fries again were frozen and weren't salted. Overall the friendly staff can't make up for lackluster food and dated decor.

Great spot! In town for a brief stay, I was on the hunt tonight for a grilled chicken Caesar salad (sometimes nothing else will do). I scoped out at least 3 other establishments on the main drag with no luck. Within moments of entering the Gold Nugget, I was greeted warmly by Costa, the manager with loads of Greek hospitality, and a couple different waitresses who were also warm, friendly and helpful. My salad was darn good! Nice dark green lettuce (not the transparent, tasteless stuff!), just the right amount of dressing (a surprisingly rare feat for Caesars) and yummy, yummy, yummy. Really hit the spot. I'd happily go back and may even do so this week. Three cheers for the Gold Nugget!

Stop by today during Gold Rush Day in Wickenburg. After a short wait for a group of seven we were led to our table on the patio. The lunch menu was a bit limited but we rolled with it. We ordered five burgers, one BLT, and Patty Melt. Our server was attentive and did a great job keep our drinks filled. Food was out in a reasonable amount of time. Food was so-so. Burgers were a little over cooked as was the Patty Melt. BLT came with six large slices of bacon - yum! The place was OK. Average food, good prices, and good service.

We stopped for a bit while visiting Wickenburg. I love small town restaurants I find that they usually have really good food, this was the exception. I'm not sure if the entire wait staff was new or just deficient. It took 15 minutes for someone just to ask for our drink order then another 15-20 to actually get our 2 iced teas. We placed our food order when we ordered our drinks and got our food about 45 minutes later. The food was dropped off by a random person and I wasn't able to ask for syrup for my French toast because they dropped and ran. By time someone came around to check on us my food was cold and I was disgruntled. We ate and left, I'm willing to forgive a lot but the food wasn't anything special and to wait forever for mediocre food was nuts. I will never go back.

Why I don't eat here more often completely escapes me! The Nugget has consistently the best prime rib sandwich anywhere. I often forget to even try the horse radish since the sandwitch has so much flavor! When in Wickenburg give this a try! No place locally has anything close to this and then when you try the French Onion soup you'll never go anywhere else.

Driving back from Big Bear, Ca with my family and stopped in for dinner. First time diner at the Golden Nugget. Was surprised to find we were the only table seated at 7pm on a Thursday - what gives? We were greeted by the owner/chef who after some very friendly conversation, noticed my hesitancy looking at an empty dining room and said "our food is guaranteed, if you don't enjoy it, you don't pay." Sold. My wife ordered the stuffed chicken breast, my son and I split the Prime Rib meal. Everyone loved their food. Salads were fresh and served in chilled bowls, meals were warm, delicious, and large portioned. Our server was a real gem and went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. She shared some of the history of the building with my son who enjoyed every moment. Thank you for your hospitality. Glad we stopped and will do again. Also glad to see a few more tables arrived after we did!

So, I can't believe I'm writing this, but I, a Wickenburg local, not only ATE at Gold Nugget but actually ENJOYED IT! The thing is, growing up I kind of learned that only tourists eat at the Gold Nugget. Locals ate elsewhere. I'm here to encourage OTHER locals (near and far) to give it a shot and help give them some business. The First Venture: dinner service with my boyfriend, his father and a friend of the family. -What we ordered: lamb stamna (my dish), prime rib, and two burgers. -The verdict: lamb stamna was AMAZING, everything was perfectly cooked and the large portion meant I had leftovers. The BF's dad said the prime rib was very good and it was also cooked perfectly. Dinner entrees came with choice of soup or salad, a veggie and potato dish. -a bonus: the owner offered our table complimentary ice cream or a snifter of Amaretto after we finished our meal. How gracious! The Return: early dinner for Mother's Day with my Grandma. -What we ordered: 8oz lobster tail and petite filet mignon (my dish), liver and onions. -The verdict: lobster was WAY over cooked, was difficult to cut and eat. Filet mignon saved the day, honestly the most tender and well-cooked medium rare steak I've ever eaten. Liver and onions looked good but Grandma claims it was under-seasoned (she over salts everything). Per plate price is a little high for Wickenburg, but the quality of your food far exceeds almost any other dish in town. Lamb? In Wickenburg? YES. And it's delicious. Filet mignon? In the sticks? YES. And it's the best steak you'll ever eat. The decor is dated (perhaps that's the idea), but I really feel this restaurant could be 5 star if they could only get more business in the door. The eerieness of being the only table in the establishment sometimes can detract from the overall experience. Let's kick the Gold Nugget back into relevancy!

Oh yum! What a great place for breakfast on the way to Flagstaff!!! I ordered the short stack of pancakes thinking it would be a small portion...wrong! I got two huge, fluffy pancakes for less than $5! The servers were excellent...very friendly and hospitable! The only downside is they are in the midst of remodeling and the place was kind of torn apart and rather hot. The next time I'm in Wickenberg at breakfast time, I will definitely be stopping at the Nugget!

My husband, sister, and I visited this restaurant in late January, while I was inpatient at Remuda Ranch and had a weekend family pass. It was the first actual restaurant that I had sat down in with the nasogastric (NG) tube, and I was so relieved that there were no stares or comments whatsoever from the wait-staff. Even better: there were no other patrons in the establishment! Woohoo! As seen in the photo I uploaded, they have a cheesy statue of a cowboy standing up front to welcome you in (going along the entire "Old West" theme of Wickenburg), and we had great time posing with him. I'd imagine this place would be great for kids, what with the goofy yet classic decour and big open dining room. As said before, don't be fooled by the run-down outside appearance. The menu was full of different dishes, and though it all pretty much was simple "greasy spoon diner" food, it tasted great and was still hot when brought out. The waiter was quiet but nice, and despite being his only customers at the time, he didn't hover around our table (it can be great to have fast service, but a waiter buzzing around you while you're trying to get through a meal can be quite irritating). I ended up ordering a grilled cheese sandwich off the children's menu (despite being 22 years old- they didn't mind!), and the cheese was stringy and gooey. Just how a grilled cheese should be! It was just an overall good experience, and while you're not going to get gourmet food here or overly-expressive service, I highly recommend the Gold Nugget for some tasty (yet cheap!) laid-back food.

I have been here several times over the years, but it has been a long time since the last visit. The place is rather worn and could use some tender loving care. It is like they are depressed and gave up with the decor. But the waitress and bus girl were both very nice. The food being breakfast was to me cooked perfectly and believe me this is not an easy task with me being the customer. The pancakes were to a true golden hue and were the hash-browns. The eggs done to an exact over easy and the sausage patties were yummy although I could only eat one half of one, too much food. I wish they would let me loose with my decorating wand and this place would be perfect.

this place is like in a time warp. a perfect gem in the end of our roadtrip. looks like a crappy diner in the front, but they save the good china for the back. blue flowery wall paper, chandeliers, a piano that hasn't been played in years, and only us four foreigners.... g'bye now!

I only had a drink here, and breakfast the next day. The drink was fine, the breakfast was too. But this place is on its last leg, I would never consider eating dinner or lunch here. Decorated in a green and maroon country eighties time bomb motif, there is 30 year old dirt to match. Skip unless you are getting the free best western breakfast deal because thats the only stuff from the walk in cooler thats ever used frequently. On the flip side: attentive, caring staff!!

Eh, I've had better. The service was about the only thing good here, besides the atmosphere and decor...as well as the stories some of the servers can share (we overheard a ghost story). The food was ok, but nothing great. A little bland for my taste. It's definitely a nugget in this small town, but more like a nugget of fool's gold.

I had an excellent prime rib 'sandwich' for lunch and came back with my family for a prime rib dinner. I just saw the specials menu with lamb and fish too. Friendly waitstaff and ask about the history of this historical Wickenburg building. My family enjoyed our dinner there tonight. Interesting place.

I worked here in the early 1980s, and it doesn't look like it's changed much! The pics put a smile on my face. Have't been back yet, but they had nice management when I worked there and solid food.

Passing through town hoping for a good lunch. Waitress super nice but food awful. Restaurant smelled funky. Only ones in it which should have been a clue to the food. Corned beef on Reuben sandwiches tough. Prices were way too high for the quality of the food. Left disappointed and hungry because didn't finish food.
